- 0:00Speaker 1: It's steal by Heaslip. Give it go with Percival down
- 0:03Speaker 1: the left side towards gold center pass prister Scar Tristan
- 0:08Speaker 1: Frazier where this first of the year and the foot
- 0:12Speaker 1: Soldiers get on the board. That is my call Friday
- 0:16Speaker 1: that made it three to one. Tristan Fraser is with us.
- 0:19Speaker 1: And yes, like Jake Percival, he is one of those
- 0:22Speaker 1: guys I like to work to call foot soldiers because
- 0:24Speaker 1: of my old days with the Whalers. Guys like Dean
- 0:26Speaker 1: Evison's de We Gavin. I think, who am I forgetting here?
- 0:30Speaker 2: Well?
- 0:31Speaker 1: Anyhow, Guys like that who just grind away, do the
- 0:34Speaker 1: dirty work to get things done. And he's a senior
- 0:37Speaker 1: from West Vancouver, British Columbia, and like his teammate, our
- 0:41Speaker 1: previous guest, Jake Percival, over one hundred games as a
- 0:44Speaker 1: Yukon Husky. You're an old guy. Now, what's it feel
- 0:46Speaker 1: like to be a senior?
- 0:49Speaker 2: Uh? Yeah, I mean it's crazy.
- 0:50Speaker 3: I think everything's kind of it's flown by for sure,
- 0:53Speaker 3: especially the last couple of years, you know, I mean
- 0:56Speaker 3: looking at last year, I think we're just having been
- 0:58Speaker 3: having a lot of fun, so been going by quicker,
- 1:02Speaker 3: you know, with all the winds and the stuff we've
- 1:04Speaker 3: had in the last year. So it's it's crazy, but
- 1:08Speaker 3: you know, a lot of memories to look back on.
- 1:11Speaker 3: But you know, I get really excited for this year
- 1:14Speaker 3: being my last year. I really like the group we have,
- 1:17Speaker 3: and you know, it's it's tough to see go by quick,
- 1:20Speaker 3: but it's also very exciting to you know, see what's
- 1:22Speaker 3: going to happen this year.
- 1:24Speaker 1: When you lose games, you get it over quickly. Of course,
- 1:27Speaker 1: you got have maybe four or five days to get
- 1:29Speaker 1: over it. But then last March, you guys made a
- 1:31Speaker 1: great run and you were that close of a post
- 1:35Speaker 1: strike from the Frozen four. How long personally did it
- 1:38Speaker 1: take for you to get over that heartbreak?
- 1:42Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean it was pretty tough. I think it
- 1:46Speaker 3: was just kind of really in the moment, it was
- 1:48Speaker 3: super emotional. You know, you're pretty you know, right after that,
- 1:54Speaker 3: I think it's it's tough to kind of lose and
- 1:57Speaker 3: that sort of fashion. I think, you know, being having
- 2:00Speaker 3: it being overtime, especially and you know, I think feeling
- 2:05Speaker 3: in that game that we kind of had them on
- 2:07Speaker 3: the ropes there, and it's tough. It's it's a tough
- 2:11Speaker 3: break to you know, give up one and o t.
- 2:13Speaker 3: But I think it's one of those things that you know,
- 2:17Speaker 3: our group, we took it as a great experience looking
- 2:22Speaker 3: back on it, and I think that we're kind of
- 2:25Speaker 3: really wanted to flip the page on it and get
- 2:27Speaker 3: back to work like early in the summer and just
- 2:30Speaker 3: try to build off it. I think it's one of
- 2:31Speaker 3: those things you're, like I said, really emotional in the moment,
- 2:35Speaker 3: and it's really tough obviously, and it's things right right
- 2:39Speaker 3: right after that for you know, a few weeks or whatever.
- 2:41Speaker 3: But I think like with our group having so many
- 2:44Speaker 3: guys come back, I think we're kind of just looking
- 2:46Speaker 3: forward to come back this summer, putting in the work
- 2:49Speaker 3: and making sure that it wasn't a fluke that we
- 2:52Speaker 3: got there, and making sure that we can.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Go even further.
- 2:55Speaker 3: So yeah, I think just kind of having that mindset
- 3:00Speaker 3: and looking forward is a really good way for us
- 3:03Speaker 3: to get over it and you know, make sure that
- 3:05Speaker 3: we're back in that same sort of position and can
- 3:07Speaker 3: go even further than we did.
- 3:09Speaker 1: You know, I think of obviously the road that you
- 3:11Speaker 1: Jake Tabor have been through, we get for Ryan Tattle
- 3:14Speaker 1: in there too, because it seems like for a good
- 3:17Speaker 1: chunk of your group's career, you've all at some point
- 3:20Speaker 1: have played together, and for you with Tabor and Jake,
- 3:23Speaker 1: I mean, that's pretty much been a good consistent line
- 3:27Speaker 1: over those for those years. What's it like building a
- 3:30Speaker 1: chemistry knowing that you pretty much know where they're going
- 3:32Speaker 1: to be.
- 3:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I think I think it's great. I mean, we
- 3:37Speaker 2: we all came in.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Together, We've all you know, kind of had like similar pathways,
- 3:42Speaker 3: i'd say, like from when we first started here to
- 3:46Speaker 3: where we are now, and I think, like, I think
- 3:49Speaker 3: just like our development over the four years kind of
- 3:51Speaker 3: shows it as well. I know, like me, Tots and
- 3:54Speaker 3: Purse we played a good amount of the year last
- 3:57Speaker 3: year together and you know we were finding some success.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Our team was playing really well.
- 4:03Speaker 3: And just to be able to you know, have Tabes
- 4:06Speaker 3: on our line this year and be with person, you know,
- 4:08Speaker 3: I've I know, I've played a lot with Tabes my
- 4:10Speaker 3: first year or two there, not quite as much last year,
- 4:14Speaker 3: but you know.
- 4:15Speaker 2: To be back with him is really good.
- 4:17Speaker 3: I think I think all three of us, like you know,
- 4:20Speaker 3: we got we were all great skiers.
- 4:22Speaker 2: We're all able to disrupt plays.
- 4:24Speaker 3: You know, maybe we're not necessarily the guys who are
- 4:28Speaker 3: gonna you know, make plays or score goals just solely
- 4:32Speaker 3: off you know, scale or making high end plays. But
- 4:35Speaker 3: I think the way that we're able to disrupt plays
- 4:39Speaker 3: for the opposing teams and then kind of create offense
- 4:41Speaker 3: off of that, I mean, I think it showed this
- 4:44Speaker 3: weekend that we can do that pretty consistently throughout a game,
- 4:47Speaker 3: and I think we just are going to look to
- 4:49Speaker 3: continue to do that and then in the coming weeks here.
- 4:52Speaker 3: So I mean, it's exciting playing with those guys. It's cool,
- 4:56Speaker 3: you know, us being all in the same class and stuff.
- 4:58Speaker 3: So I think just yeah, building off that chemistry and
- 5:02Speaker 3: the familiarity with each other is is huge for sure.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Tristan. Of course, one of your neighbors in West Vancouver
- 5:10Speaker 1: is Hudson Chander, who is playing in the minors. Now,
- 5:14Speaker 1: what kind of things did you take from him and
- 5:16Speaker 1: his leadership abilities? Because from everybody that I've talked to,
- 5:19Speaker 1: his leadership was phenomenal As a captain.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Yeah, I think, like, I mean, yeah, I've known how
- 5:25Speaker 3: to even before coming in here, so like even like
- 5:29Speaker 3: seeing him in and junior as we played, like you know,
- 5:32Speaker 3: our junior team. I think we're only like an hour
- 5:34Speaker 3: apart from each other, So I'd play against him a
- 5:36Speaker 3: lot in juniors, and then in the summers I train
- 5:40Speaker 3: with them basically every day, even this past summer. So
- 5:44Speaker 3: I think, like, you know, just seeing him and seeing
- 5:46Speaker 3: his approach day to day, I think he's one of
- 5:48Speaker 3: those guys that he doesn't get like over emotional. I
- 5:51Speaker 3: think he brings like a very He's very intense, but
- 5:56Speaker 3: in sort of a way that kind of uplifts is
- 6:00Speaker 3: like the guy who's on the team, Like it's not
- 6:02Speaker 3: necessarily like going at guys and a negative ways, more
- 6:06Speaker 3: intense and like a positive way, and you know, trying
- 6:09Speaker 3: to bring that same sort of passionate intensity out of
- 6:13Speaker 3: out of all of his teammates that you know he
- 6:15Speaker 3: brings on a day to day basis.
- 6:16Speaker 2: So I think that's like the biggest thing.
- 6:18Speaker 3: And I think just with this communication skills as well,
- 6:22Speaker 3: I think he's really he's really good at, you know,
- 6:25Speaker 3: speaking to the guys, communicating with their coaches and whoever,
- 6:29Speaker 3: and making sure like everyone's a voice has heard. I
- 6:32Speaker 3: think like he's able to relate to each guy on
- 6:35Speaker 3: the team really well, and those are something that's something
- 6:38Speaker 3: that I've kind of tried to take is just being
- 6:41Speaker 3: able to talk to each guy, being able to kind
- 6:43Speaker 3: of build a relationship with each guy on the team,
- 6:46Speaker 3: you know, at some point throughout the year. And I
- 6:49Speaker 3: think that just helps really like build a strong team
- 6:52Speaker 3: chemistry and develop a culture. So I think that that
- 6:55Speaker 3: was the, you know, the biggest thing that I got
- 6:57Speaker 3: from him.
- 6:58Speaker 1: All Right, finally, briefly, you you are Canadian. There is
- 7:01Speaker 1: a Canadian team playing in Game seven tonight in baseball.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Are you much of a baseball fan? Are you watching
- 7:05Speaker 1: the Blue Jays at all?
- 7:08Speaker 3: I'm not a huge baseball guy, but I like the
- 7:09Speaker 3: playoffs and yeah, I mean the Jays are cannabis team
- 7:13Speaker 3: right now, so everyone back home, even on the West
- 7:17Speaker 3: Coast is all in on them.
- 7:18Speaker 2: So I've kind of just hopped on the band and
- 7:21Speaker 2: I guess there you go.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Tristan, thanks for a few minutes. Good luck this week
- 7:25Speaker 1: and against the Terriers.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Yeah, thank you very much.
- 7:28Speaker 1: All Right, that is Tristan Fraser. We'll come back with
- 7:30Speaker 1: Coach Cab. We'll previ the BU series coming up next
- 7:32Speaker 1: as we wrap up the Yukon Hockey coaches show here
- 7:35Speaker 1: on Learfield, stay with us,
