- 0:04Speaker 1: Good morning, good morning, good morning, and welcome, Welcome, Welcome.
- 0:07Speaker 1: It is time for car Talk right here on K one,
- 0:09Speaker 1: the one you trust, Rad Dungeus. We've got friends in
- 0:14Speaker 1: the studio.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Yeah, special guests today, my friends from the Boys and
- 0:18Speaker 2: Girls Club here in Bartlesville, and what a great club
- 0:22Speaker 2: we have and.
- 0:22Speaker 3: It's so great to meet you guys.
- 0:24Speaker 2: I've got Charlie Saleo, Charlie, Welcome, Hi Charlie.
- 0:30Speaker 3: And then we've got Scarlett. Hi, Scarlett, Hi. Hi David too,
- 0:35Speaker 3: Hi David. Hey, welcome to the show.
- 0:37Speaker 2: This is a special edition of car Talk to have
- 0:40Speaker 2: you guys on here and get to hear about what's
- 0:43Speaker 2: going on at the club and what you guys like
- 0:45Speaker 2: to do down there. You guys go every day pretty much,
- 0:49Speaker 2: you know, all the time. What do you like to do.
- 0:52Speaker 2: What's the best part of your day at the club.
- 0:55Speaker 4: Probably just getting to go and like the gym and
- 0:59Speaker 4: getting to play ballolleyball and hang out with all my friends.
- 1:02Speaker 2: Yeah. I get a good chance to get active, right,
- 1:05Speaker 2: you earn some energy, you know. My sons both went
- 1:08Speaker 2: down there through the Fundamentals basketball program or from the
- 1:13Speaker 2: time they could start dribbling all the way to to
- 1:17Speaker 2: to plan on the their middle school teams, I guess mostly,
- 1:22Speaker 2: But what's your favorite thing to do at the club room?
- 1:27Speaker 3: And with my friends Draw and David.
- 1:31Speaker 2: You've got a little different role now you're working there
- 1:34Speaker 2: and and part of the club too. I guess a
- 1:38Speaker 2: lot of a lot of that. Kids have been going
- 1:40Speaker 2: there for a long time end up working there and
- 1:43Speaker 2: kind of get some experience working and doing stuff.
- 1:47Speaker 3: It's a fun job. What do you do on the staff?
- 1:51Speaker 5: I just the mentors with the kids and you can
- 1:53Speaker 5: play games.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Awesome, you meet them, Well that's good.
- 1:59Speaker 3: You got to learn to be humble in life.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Well, it's awesome. I love the Boys and Girls Club here.
- 2:07Speaker 2: It's something uh my father did when he was around
- 2:11Speaker 2: in Borlsville with the boys club and he was uh
- 2:15Speaker 2: he went to Boys State and stuff like that. We
- 2:18Speaker 2: had my grandfather helped with the old club, the old
- 2:21Speaker 2: building before this new building getting started, and uh, you know,
- 2:26Speaker 2: just it's exciting how it's transformed through the years and
- 2:29Speaker 2: become such a great It always is a great resource,
- 2:32Speaker 2: but now within great new facility and the club in
- 2:36Speaker 2: Dewey stuff like that, it's there's just more kids involved
- 2:39Speaker 2: and it's it's I mean, it's really cool, isn't it.
- 2:42Speaker 2: There's about anything you could want to do. I think
- 2:45Speaker 2: in there, do you do you do some of the
- 2:47Speaker 2: computer stuff too, and you're not gotten into that yet.
- 2:51Speaker 4: No, I don't go in the computer lib as much
- 2:55Speaker 4: and stuff I do. You think it's really fun though,
- 2:59Speaker 4: that we have a learning center that we can go
- 3:01Speaker 4: and like I can do my homework and my I
- 3:03Speaker 4: excel and stuff and get it finished before I go
- 3:09Speaker 4: to like home, and I just had to see my
- 3:12Speaker 4: room and do it. I didn't like do it with
- 3:14Speaker 4: my friends and stuff.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Good used to getting it out of the way so
- 3:17Speaker 2: you can go ahead and have fun. Yeah, No, that's
- 3:20Speaker 2: that's a good habit to develop. If you procrastinate on
- 3:23Speaker 2: your homework, it kind of sneaks up on you.
- 3:26Speaker 3: I think, yeah a lot. Yeah, you know, what, what
- 3:31Speaker 3: else do you like to do at the club? I
- 3:34Speaker 3: like to go to the gym.
- 3:36Speaker 4: To play others stuff like dodgeball and volleyball.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, it's all the fun stuff, but a
- 3:45Speaker 2: little bit of work too, write I mean a little
- 3:47Speaker 2: bit of work and learning, but always kind of makes
- 3:50Speaker 2: it fun because you've got great mentors like David too.
- 3:54Speaker 2: I assume that that they help a lot, don't They
- 3:57Speaker 2: kind of keep you, keep you going, know the hopes
- 4:00Speaker 2: around there. So David, tell us, how did you get
- 4:04Speaker 2: started in the club and how long have you been
- 4:06Speaker 2: going there?
- 4:10Speaker 5: Been going there for the past eight years. I was
- 4:12Speaker 5: about eight years old.
- 4:15Speaker 3: I moved here. Okay.
- 4:19Speaker 2: It's a good young place to after school place, and
- 4:22Speaker 2: so the kids probably parents were probably working and needed
- 4:25Speaker 2: to have a place for you to go.
- 4:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I know that's.
- 4:29Speaker 5: Before the boys the New Boys and Girls Club was made.
- 4:31Speaker 3: I was at the old one. Okay one, it's different. Yeah,
- 4:36Speaker 3: that was as a great a facility.
- 4:38Speaker 2: It's it's so bright and shiny now and clean and everything,
- 4:41Speaker 2: but there's a lot of the programs are still the
- 4:44Speaker 2: same and the way that it you know, involves kids
- 4:47Speaker 2: and the access to to good good you know, kind
- 4:51Speaker 2: of leadership development stuff in a way.
- 4:53Speaker 3: I mean, you mentioned before.
- 4:56Speaker 2: We got on the air that you've done the you're
- 4:58Speaker 2: working on the Youth of the Year stuff and there's
- 5:01Speaker 2: you're part of that this year and last year too.
- 5:04Speaker 3: What's that like? It was nervous.
- 5:07Speaker 5: I was nervous my first, like Tom doing it, because
- 5:09Speaker 5: I don't public speak. I don't like doing it, but
- 5:12Speaker 5: after doing it, it wasn't that bad. And I've been doing
- 5:15Speaker 5: it over the summer now, so I can it.
- 5:18Speaker 3: No, that's good.
- 5:20Speaker 2: I know, you know when I was younger, I was
- 5:23Speaker 2: a lot more. I mean, it's I'm on the radio
- 5:26Speaker 2: show every week now for almost twenty years, I think.
- 5:28Speaker 2: And but you know, when I remember back when I
- 5:33Speaker 2: first started working coming out of college, how how I
- 5:36Speaker 2: was intimidated by speaking in front of people and what
- 5:38Speaker 2: that's like.
- 5:39Speaker 3: So I remember that feeling it that's.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Kind of with with it gets more comfortable over time.
- 5:48Speaker 3: And it's great to have guests too.
- 5:50Speaker 2: That's one thing you'll learn is that you can always
- 5:52Speaker 2: ask questions and get somebody else to talk. So I
- 5:59Speaker 2: did mention the Youth of the Year program is coming up,
- 6:02Speaker 2: and shout out to Jason and Beth.
- 6:05Speaker 3: Down there at the club. Hopefully they're listening.
- 6:07Speaker 2: I bet they are this morning, but they've got a
- 6:10Speaker 2: great This is one of those one of my favorite
- 6:13Speaker 2: events in Bartlesville really every year because it really features
- 6:18Speaker 2: you guys and kind of the culmination of somebody's career,
- 6:23Speaker 2: so to speak at the club. And it is a
- 6:26Speaker 2: lot of work to be a part of the to
- 6:28Speaker 2: really be in the running for that and to be
- 6:31Speaker 2: a part of that program. And this is a chance
- 6:35Speaker 2: for the club to shine, I think, and to really
- 6:37Speaker 2: bring in people from the outside the sponsored the club
- 6:41Speaker 2: all the time and get to see the impact.
- 6:44Speaker 3: It has on kids and our community overall.
- 6:49Speaker 2: So this year's luncheon, it is a lunch It's on
- 6:52Speaker 2: December fifth, it'll be eleven, fifteen to one. They've got
- 6:56Speaker 2: a great keynote speaker coming. Who's to Rita Ing, who's
- 7:02Speaker 2: the physician in chief at Kaiser Permanente. And it sounds
- 7:07Speaker 2: like she's just a great person. Obviously, you know, done
- 7:10Speaker 2: a lot professionally, But like so many of these, uh
- 7:14Speaker 2: these folks, her journey began at the Boys and Girls Club.
- 7:17Speaker 2: And and I know that that's a pattern throughout all
- 7:21Speaker 2: this is you know, it's the Pete Silas Boys and
- 7:25Speaker 2: Girls Club there. And I know Pete's story was started
- 7:28Speaker 2: with with going to the club where he grew up
- 7:31Speaker 2: in Florida.
- 7:32Speaker 3: And and and he became a national board.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Member for the Boys and Girls Club. He was chairman
- 7:37Speaker 2: of Phillips here in Bartlesville, and uh and uh, you know,
- 7:42Speaker 2: so it's his family has supported the club for for
- 7:46Speaker 2: many decades and continues too. It's a great honor to
- 7:52Speaker 2: be able to extend that uh kind of support for
- 7:55Speaker 2: the club.
- 7:56Speaker 3: And it's really.
- 7:57Speaker 2: About all you guys and what it can help you do.
- 8:01Speaker 2: So you know the how long have you been going
- 8:05Speaker 2: to the club.
- 8:06Speaker 4: I've been going to club since I was like in
- 8:09Speaker 4: like fourth grade, so i'd say like five six years
- 8:16Speaker 4: or grade right now, I'm in seventh grade.
- 8:18Speaker 3: Seventh grade, okay.
- 8:21Speaker 4: It was just really fun getting to like go. My
- 8:25Speaker 4: mom worked there, she helped us like football. My brother's
- 8:29Speaker 4: been going for like six years. It was just really
- 8:32Speaker 4: fun getting like you after school and like hang out
- 8:35Speaker 4: with your friends and go to the computer lab in
- 8:39Speaker 4: the art room and get to yaw and make bracelets
- 8:43Speaker 4: and do all this stuff. And like I'd rather do
- 8:45Speaker 4: that than just like sit at home.
- 8:47Speaker 2: Yeah, keeps you busy and you get to be with
- 8:50Speaker 2: your friends too, and you know that's good. Have you
- 8:54Speaker 2: been going for a few years too, or are you
- 8:57Speaker 2: new to the club.
- 8:58Speaker 4: I've been going for a few years, like I was
- 9:01Speaker 4: in second grade, and.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Really four years, I think, okay, And of course you
- 9:11Speaker 2: guys go to school too, and you know that's important.
- 9:16Speaker 2: I think to learn at school too, but have this
- 9:18Speaker 2: chance to kind of learn in a different.
- 9:21Speaker 3: Kind of environment.
- 9:23Speaker 2: It's it's kind of explore things and it helps you
- 9:27Speaker 2: understand kind of the road way. You know, there might
- 9:32Speaker 2: be a career path someday. Have you guys thought about
- 9:35Speaker 2: that at all, what you want to do in the future.
- 9:38Speaker 4: Yeah, I've thought about it a lot. That's why I
- 9:41Speaker 4: like on the club because it really helps with like
- 9:44Speaker 4: I get to do all these programs like Torch Club
- 9:46Speaker 4: and Smart Girls and even like flag football. That just
- 9:50Speaker 4: helps with like all these opportunities that I have, like
- 9:53Speaker 4: my molder stuff.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Yeah, those sports is a great way to kind of
- 9:58Speaker 2: learn what TeamWorks all about and and how to you know, then.
- 10:02Speaker 3: Learning to win and lose. And what about you?
- 10:07Speaker 2: Have you thought about career opportunities or what you might
- 10:09Speaker 2: want to do in the.
- 10:10Speaker 3: Future or school after high school or whatever.
- 10:13Speaker 4: I want to become a dentist and a girl because
- 10:18Speaker 4: I feel like.
- 10:21Speaker 3: Sometimes, well you have beautiful teeth. What about you, David?
- 10:29Speaker 3: Have you thought about careers and what you want to
- 10:31Speaker 3: do in the future? Going on the Manes awesome? Does
- 10:35Speaker 3: that serve our country?
- 10:37Speaker 2: Is it that that's a that's a lot of responsibility
- 10:40Speaker 2: doing that.
- 10:41Speaker 3: It's definitely and we need people to that want to
- 10:44Speaker 3: do that in our in our world today. Is it
- 10:47Speaker 3: that's that's great? So is that something you've wanted to
- 10:52Speaker 3: do for a long time or.
- 10:56Speaker 5: Nine years old?
- 10:57Speaker 3: Okay, awesome, it's.
- 10:59Speaker 5: Just around here in there, but it always pops up somehow.
- 11:02Speaker 3: Okay. It's good to have.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Those goals, you know that sometimes they're I'll warn you
- 11:08Speaker 2: they might change and they'll evolve, and as you get
- 11:11Speaker 2: older you'll but you'll always find a path I think,
- 11:14Speaker 2: and what the stuff that's really important to you. I
- 11:17Speaker 2: think one of the things I've learned is it's so
- 11:20Speaker 2: important to have a career and life that you really
- 11:24Speaker 2: enjoy what you do, and that it's beyond just you know,
- 11:29Speaker 2: clocking in and out and taking a paycheck home. If
- 11:32Speaker 2: you if you feel like you're involved in something that's
- 11:35Speaker 2: important to you and you know it kind of you
- 11:38Speaker 2: kind of get carried away with it and next thing
- 11:40Speaker 2: you know, you get more responsibility and it leads to
- 11:43Speaker 2: two great things.
- 11:44Speaker 3: Usually. I think that's that's what we all want. I think.
- 11:49Speaker 2: So if you've mentioned you have a bunch of friends
- 11:53Speaker 2: there go to the club too.
- 11:55Speaker 3: And if people are out.
- 11:56Speaker 2: There listening and they don't know, you know, if it's
- 12:00Speaker 2: right for their children, what would you say to them
- 12:03Speaker 2: about what the club could help with, you know, people
- 12:08Speaker 2: who haven't been there before.
- 12:09Speaker 4: Well, I really think that like you should go because
- 12:13Speaker 4: it's a good opportunity for like parents that like work later.
- 12:18Speaker 4: I know there's other programs, but I really like the
- 12:20Speaker 4: Women Both Club because like there's so many opportunities and
- 12:22Speaker 4: there's so many different things. Like there's like computers if
- 12:27Speaker 4: you want to learn how to do that stuff, and
- 12:29Speaker 4: then there's like gym and sports, and then there's like
- 12:32Speaker 4: the art room, and then there's just like the game
- 12:34Speaker 4: room where you can just like watch a movie and
- 12:36Speaker 4: hang out. And I think it's like also really cool
- 12:38Speaker 4: that we get to like eat there because at home,
- 12:43Speaker 4: like my brother wants one thing and I want another,
- 12:47Speaker 4: So it's just like easier to be able eat there.
- 12:50Speaker 3: That's great. That's great Now that you have meals every day.
- 12:53Speaker 4: Yes, And every day we have meals. Usually it's like
- 13:00Speaker 4: what we yesterday, like tacos or like was on air.
- 13:04Speaker 4: Sometime weve like just chicken nuggets and like mashed potatoes
- 13:08Speaker 4: and stuff.
- 13:10Speaker 3: Awesome. And David, you you work in the kitchen, don't you,
- 13:14Speaker 3: As you mentioned, yeah, I did that for a while
- 13:21Speaker 3: in my career.
- 13:22Speaker 2: It's not no, it's it's important to through the whole
- 13:26Speaker 2: process and a kitchen and for obviously we need clean
- 13:29Speaker 2: dishes and you know, they'll probably have you doing some
- 13:31Speaker 2: prep cooking or something pretty prettyfully that that happens. So
- 13:39Speaker 2: I mentioned, you know, the people that might not know
- 13:42Speaker 2: the club or you know, there are opportunities like the
- 13:45Speaker 2: Youth of the Year luncheon that's coming up soon on
- 13:48Speaker 2: December fifth. But if you just want to reach out
- 13:51Speaker 2: to them, I know, they give tours regularly and you
- 13:53Speaker 2: can come in and really explore what the club is.
- 13:56Speaker 2: And it's not expensive at all. I think it's twenty
- 13:59Speaker 2: five five dollars a year twenty dollars a year to
- 14:02Speaker 2: join the club. So it's successible pretty much to everybody.
- 14:06Speaker 2: And they do have these diverse programs and if you've
- 14:10Speaker 2: heard the kids talking about all the different stuff you
- 14:12Speaker 2: could want to do from from pretty much any sport
- 14:15Speaker 2: all the way to computer labs and art and science stuff,
- 14:23Speaker 2: math reading and then time to do your homework and
- 14:27Speaker 2: a meal every afternoon so.
- 14:30Speaker 3: Really great stuff. So we're proud of dungeus Toyota to
- 14:35Speaker 3: support the club and to be a part of that.
- 14:37Speaker 3: I know, they really depend on.
- 14:41Speaker 2: Everybody's support in our community.
- 14:44Speaker 3: That's you know, and it's.
- 14:47Speaker 2: One of those things that without the resources of the
- 14:50Speaker 2: community provides, it wouldn't be such a rich experience for everyone.
- 14:54Speaker 2: So I just encourage everyone to support the club and
- 14:57Speaker 2: help us keep making our bar Isville a stronger place.
- 15:02Speaker 3: You know, I did want to you know a little
- 15:05Speaker 3: bit of car.
- 15:05Speaker 2: Business stuff while we've got this opportunity and everybody's listening.
- 15:10Speaker 2: You know, We've had a great September and starting to
- 15:14Speaker 2: get our allocation again for October. We've got a bunch
- 15:17Speaker 2: of I think probably twelve or thirteen vehicles on the
- 15:21Speaker 2: ground right now, which isn't very many. I know, people
- 15:23Speaker 2: come in all the time saying where are the cars,
- 15:26Speaker 2: and you know, I want to tire kick and you
- 15:28Speaker 2: know that's nationwide. Toyota's got a twenty seven days supply
- 15:32Speaker 2: on the ground. For us to earn more cars, we
- 15:34Speaker 2: pretty much need to sell out every month and so
- 15:38Speaker 2: it doesn't lead to a lot of vehicles on the ground. Thankfully,
- 15:41Speaker 2: we have a high demand product, and a lot of
- 15:44Speaker 2: our vehicles sell even before they get on the ground.
- 15:47Speaker 2: You know, in some ways that's great for our customers
- 15:50Speaker 2: because it reduces our cost of holding vehicles. When they
- 15:54Speaker 2: manufacturer send them to us, we actually have to we
- 15:57Speaker 2: pay for them and buy them and they're on the ground.
- 15:59Speaker 2: We play what's called four plan cost and so by
- 16:02Speaker 2: keeping that low, we can pass those savings on to
- 16:05Speaker 2: our customers.
- 16:07Speaker 3: We have such a great.
- 16:08Speaker 2: Team there, and of a noncommissioned sales team, those folks
- 16:13Speaker 2: really are focused.
- 16:14Speaker 3: On on you.
- 16:15Speaker 2: We believe the car buying experience should be centered around
- 16:18Speaker 2: the customer and not a sales quota or how much
- 16:21Speaker 2: money we make.
- 16:23Speaker 3: You know, it's all about no pressure, just guidance.
- 16:27Speaker 2: We want to help you by the get the best
- 16:30Speaker 2: deal in the best car.
- 16:31Speaker 3: We don't really focus on sales tactics.
- 16:34Speaker 2: We really just want to ask you questions and help
- 16:37Speaker 2: you make a good decision. You know, a lot of
- 16:39Speaker 2: traditional commission based sales teams try to get you focus
- 16:43Speaker 2: on the payment for your car and use tactics like
- 16:47Speaker 2: the four squares from the past that it was used
- 16:51Speaker 2: to kind of confuse people, and I just you know,
- 16:55Speaker 2: we don't do any of that. We focus on transparency
- 16:59Speaker 2: so that you can try us what's going on, and
- 17:02Speaker 2: you know, there's no incentives to upsell or steer you
- 17:05Speaker 2: towards a certain vehicle that we might make more money on.
- 17:10Speaker 2: Of course, we have to make a profit like any business,
- 17:13Speaker 2: so it's important to do that. We also have really
- 17:17Speaker 2: a customer first culture. It's really about the people. I
- 17:21Speaker 2: think the club is kind of like that too. You know,
- 17:25Speaker 2: the people are first and all our decisions, employees and
- 17:28Speaker 2: our customers, and hopefully profit comes from that. We focus
- 17:33Speaker 2: on building relationships, not transactions.
- 17:36Speaker 3: Our team is rewarded based.
- 17:37Speaker 2: On customer satisfaction and how well they sell, and then
- 17:42Speaker 2: we do it. We've been doing it for four generations now,
- 17:45Speaker 2: my son William is there and proud of that, and
- 17:49Speaker 2: it's you know, over ninety five years. And we do
- 17:52Speaker 2: depend on the loyalty of our customers. And you know,
- 17:55Speaker 2: the whole car business, like so much of the world,
- 17:58Speaker 2: is going through uh well, I guess they call it
- 18:01Speaker 2: in the business world today hyperscaling.
- 18:05Speaker 3: I've heard that term a lot lately in the AI world.
- 18:08Speaker 2: And you know, the consolidation in the car business is
- 18:12Speaker 2: is a real thing. I read this week that Aaron Kerrigan,
- 18:17Speaker 2: who's a dealer broker, she predicted that the top fifty
- 18:23Speaker 2: dealer groups in America would control fifty percent of the
- 18:27Speaker 2: revenue and the business within fifteen years. And you know,
- 18:32Speaker 2: that's that's not where we started, right And when my
- 18:36Speaker 2: grandfather moved to Bartlesville in nineteen forty one, brought his
- 18:40Speaker 2: family here. He'd been in the car business since nineteen
- 18:43Speaker 2: twenty nine and they relocated here about the Ford dealership.
- 18:47Speaker 2: There were over there were about forty seven thousand dealerships
- 18:51Speaker 2: in America and about forty seven thousand dealership owners. Today
- 18:56Speaker 2: there's under seventeen thousand dealerships and only about six thousand owners,
- 19:02Speaker 2: and and only a handful that are like us have
- 19:05Speaker 2: one dealership and one community. And we're really proud of
- 19:10Speaker 2: that in a way, but it it is a challenge.
- 19:13Speaker 2: You know, we're we're our competition as economies of scale
- 19:16Speaker 2: that we're never going to have, and so we do
- 19:19Speaker 2: rely on our customers loyalty and and uh, you know,
- 19:23Speaker 2: hopefully people making the decision to buy from us. We
- 19:26Speaker 2: that doesn't mean we sit still and don't continually evolve.
- 19:31Speaker 2: We have a plan that hopefully we'll be successful in
- 19:35Speaker 2: the future. That it involves really changing the business model.
- 19:39Speaker 2: I mentioned how we pay people. That's part of it.
- 19:41Speaker 2: The rest of it is is flattening the organization, making
- 19:45Speaker 2: less uh less management. Expensive people are a big part
- 19:51Speaker 2: of the you know, cost structure in any business and
- 19:55Speaker 2: reducing our costs making it easier to to to raise
- 20:00Speaker 2: the productivity of our team. You know, we hear about
- 20:03Speaker 2: that all the time in business, with things like AI
- 20:06Speaker 2: and stuff. Do you guys do you guys play with
- 20:08Speaker 2: AI at the club?
- 20:10Speaker 4: Sometimes mainly if we use it like I us it
- 20:15Speaker 4: on my sons. Sometimes like I don't know, generate things.
- 20:20Speaker 3: Yeah, we asked a question. It's amazing to me.
- 20:24Speaker 2: You know, before I got in the car business, I
- 20:26Speaker 2: was a business writer.
- 20:27Speaker 3: I wrote for businesses, I wrote things and made a living.
- 20:32Speaker 2: And today as a business owner, I can sit there
- 20:37Speaker 2: and ask AI to do it for me, ask them
- 20:40Speaker 2: a few questions. It knows what I I've done, just Toyota.
- 20:44Speaker 2: It's you know, it knows what we do, what we
- 20:47Speaker 2: focus on. That we're noncommissioned sales that were community based,
- 20:50Speaker 2: small Oklahoma, family owned dealership. So I can just say, hey,
- 20:54Speaker 2: you know what what do you how would you say
- 20:56Speaker 2: this and it'll it'll do it in a few seconds
- 20:59Speaker 2: what it used to me days to do. And that's
- 21:02Speaker 2: that's frightening in one way because I used to make
- 21:04Speaker 2: a living doing that, But also, you know, I recognize
- 21:08Speaker 2: that we're not going to go back and put that
- 21:10Speaker 2: back in a bottle and and not change it.
- 21:12Speaker 3: So it's important to you guys learn how to use that.
- 21:15Speaker 2: I think going forward in your careers you're going to
- 21:18Speaker 2: have to, you know, be good at that and how
- 21:22Speaker 2: do you use AI and the computers to make yourselves
- 21:26Speaker 2: more productive. It'll even be in the military. I'm sure
- 21:29Speaker 2: it already is. You know, it's not just you know,
- 21:34Speaker 2: hard work and muscles anymore. There's a lot of up
- 21:37Speaker 2: here that it takes to win a battle. And you
- 21:41Speaker 2: know that's it is important to recognize that and be
- 21:45Speaker 2: ready for what's next. That's uh that you know that
- 21:48Speaker 2: have my family been in the business for ninety five
- 21:51Speaker 2: years now, that being ready for what's next is really important.
- 21:56Speaker 2: And you know, I know for my grandfather and his
- 22:00Speaker 2: family when they they opportunities like what the club provided
- 22:05Speaker 2: were really important to them. His family, his father had
- 22:10Speaker 2: passed away and they moved to tonkawa from Blackwell, and
- 22:14Speaker 2: it wasn't it wasn't for the help of the community
- 22:17Speaker 2: in Tonkawha, like Barlsville supports the club.
- 22:21Speaker 3: You know, I don't know where they would have ended.
- 22:23Speaker 2: Up, but they all of them ended up graduating from college,
- 22:27Speaker 2: going on to great careers, my grandfather as a Ford
- 22:30Speaker 2: dealer mostly.
- 22:31Speaker 3: And then we got Toyota.
- 22:33Speaker 2: In nineteen sixty eight and really proud to still be
- 22:37Speaker 2: doing what we started doing nearly one hundred years ago
- 22:41Speaker 2: now and it's really humbling to be a part of that.
- 22:48Speaker 2: But seeing the generations of kids through the club too
- 22:52Speaker 2: is so important. And so you know, we talked to
- 22:56Speaker 2: I asked you guys a lot of questions. Do you
- 22:59Speaker 2: have any for me or anything that you any other
- 23:02Speaker 2: I thought you want to add now that you have this,
- 23:05Speaker 2: this platform to speak to the community of Barnsville. Smiles
- 23:15Speaker 2: got something, David, what do you think or just questions
- 23:18Speaker 2: or any any any thoughts on on the club and
- 23:22Speaker 2: what it means to you to you and or maybe
- 23:25Speaker 2: you could give us a little bit of your speech
- 23:27Speaker 2: that you're working on for next next in a couple
- 23:30Speaker 2: of months now at this point, you just.
- 23:32Speaker 3: Have to come and see. Well, he'll be there. I
- 23:36Speaker 3: will be there.
- 23:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll say hi hi to you that day's it
- 23:41Speaker 2: is a great event and hopefully get to see you
- 23:43Speaker 2: guys there too. It's it's so neat to see everybody
- 23:48Speaker 2: and and uh get you guys. Some of you will
- 23:51Speaker 2: probably be helping do the club motto and the pledge
- 23:54Speaker 2: of allegiance and stuff like that, and uh, you know
- 23:58Speaker 2: it's you what that that club mottel is kind of
- 24:01Speaker 2: cool and it uh, you guys have it memorized.
- 24:05Speaker 3: Now do you want can you can you say it?
- 24:08Speaker 4: I don't think so.
- 24:09Speaker 3: No.
- 24:10Speaker 2: Okay, well we'll wait until the luncheon. That'll be a
- 24:14Speaker 2: good opportunity. You have a few more weeks to practice.
- 24:18Speaker 2: And I do want to Haley's hiding over here in
- 24:20Speaker 2: the corner. She's an offscreen that shout out to Haley
- 24:25Speaker 2: and the.
- 24:25Speaker 3: Rest of the staff at the club. And you know,
- 24:29Speaker 3: I know that it wouldn't happen. You know. I mentioned
- 24:31Speaker 3: Jason and you know he's a great guy.
- 24:34Speaker 2: But I know you guys do do so much for
- 24:37Speaker 2: the for the kids in our community too, So thank.
- 24:40Speaker 3: You, thank you. Sure experience. No, I'm great. You guys
- 24:49Speaker 3: did great.
- 24:50Speaker 2: Now I'm proud of you for for coming on the radio,
- 24:53Speaker 2: and I'm sure next time it will be even easier.
- 24:56Speaker 2: And uh, you know, maybe you can come back next year.
- 25:00Speaker 2: That would be great. Do you want to be Youth
- 25:02Speaker 2: of the Year someday anybody thought about that?
- 25:05Speaker 3: Yes, that would be a.
- 25:06Speaker 4: Really great opportunity for like sponsorships and like what's it called,
- 25:12Speaker 4: like money for college, right, because colleges are like really
- 25:15Speaker 4: expensive and I want to go to a really good college.
- 25:19Speaker 3: No, it is really expensive, and it's.
- 25:21Speaker 2: Uh, you know, I think that's we talked about goals
- 25:24Speaker 2: and things change, and you know, when I reflect on
- 25:27Speaker 2: my college experience, you know, a lot of it's it's
- 25:30Speaker 2: learning to learn, learning to talk about things from different
- 25:33Speaker 2: points of view, learning to kind of really you.
- 25:37Speaker 3: Know, learn to learn, and it is a great thing. Uh.
- 25:41Speaker 3: And that's a great goal. So I wish you luck
- 25:44Speaker 3: on that.
- 25:44Speaker 2: And like I said, you're welcome to come back anytime
- 25:48Speaker 2: if you want to be on the show or think
- 25:49Speaker 2: of a question for me. You know, so everybody out there,
