- 1:10Keri Croft: Welcome to the Carrie Croft Show.
- 1:15Keri Croft: Welcome to the Carrie Croft Show.
- 1:18SPEAKER_02: Nice to have you.
- 1:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah, thanks for having me.
- 1:20SPEAKER_02: This is already already like good energy.
- 1:22SPEAKER_02: I mean, we try to give.
- 1:24Keri Croft: We try to give good energy, you know?
- 1:26Keri Croft: You're you're a good energy gal.
- 1:27Keri Croft: I can tell from all the Googling I've done.
- 1:29Keri Croft: So I'm like, why would we not have good vibes?
- 1:32Keri Croft: I know.
- 1:32Keri Croft: You know, since I'm an old grandma, okay, you know, I'm not necessarily gonna give this a whatever, old grandma.
- 1:37Keri Croft: I'm not gonna get into we're we're gonna go in a little bit of the weeds, but like I would rather, you know, I this this has been what six months old, like eight months.
- 1:44Keri Croft: It's this old, right?
- 1:45SPEAKER_02: This is like Yeah, well, yeah, we aired, I mean it started airing in February.
- 1:49SPEAKER_02: So So we're we're we're like on to the next.
- 1:52Keri Croft: So I I we're gonna dip in and out.
- 1:54Keri Croft: Okay.
- 1:54Keri Croft: Because I want I want to talk about like you outside of the show, but then also like what has the show platform done and like all the big big ass shit, right?
- 2:04Keri Croft: But I do want to start with you're just a regular girl in Columbus, Ohio, working for a corporate retailer.
- 2:10Keri Croft: Yep.
- 2:10Keri Croft: Do we say the name?
- 2:12Keri Croft: Do we not?
- 2:12Keri Croft: Does it matter?
- 2:13Keri Croft: Yeah, it doesn't matter.
- 2:13Keri Croft: We can we can take that out.
- 2:15Keri Croft: And you're just doing your Columbus Midwest life.
- 2:17Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 2:18Keri Croft: At the time, you're what 32.
- 2:19Keri Croft: Oh goodness.
- 2:20Keri Croft: Yeah, 32.
- 2:21Keri Croft: I was like, so you're like thinking about settling down.
- 2:23Keri Croft: Were you always the type of personality that you're like, okay, reality TV show totally makes sense?
- 2:28Keri Croft: Or were you like, look, the dating game here is so terrible?
- 2:31Keri Croft: Right.
- 2:32Keri Croft: Like, what were your true, like, what was your real thought process behind going, you know what?
- 2:36Keri Croft: I'm gonna try out for this shit.
- 2:37SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 2:38SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 2:38SPEAKER_04: So number one, I feel like it's just mindset.
- 2:41SPEAKER_04: Like for me, I'm like, if something comes up, I'm just gonna say yes.
- 2:45SPEAKER_04: Like, I am a yes girl.
- 2:46SPEAKER_04: And if it feels like it's the right opportunity, I'm like, why not?
- 2:49SPEAKER_04: Like, what do I have to lose?
- 2:51SPEAKER_04: And so this opportunity came about for me super organically.
- 2:55SPEAKER_04: And I think that was another thing that was like easy to just like step into.
- 2:59SPEAKER_04: My friend had gone out to dinner with actually, I think she was on a date, which is hilarious.
- 3:04SPEAKER_04: But she was talking to somebody who was casting for Love Is Wind, Ohio.
- 3:07SPEAKER_04: And she's like, Do you know anybody?
- 3:08SPEAKER_04: And she's like, Do I?
- 3:09SPEAKER_04: She's like, Here's my friend Breed, put us in a group chat.
- 3:12SPEAKER_04: I never watched a show.
- 3:14SPEAKER_04: And I was like, Well, like, I might as well take the call.
- 3:17SPEAKER_04: Like, why not?
- 3:18SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 3:18SPEAKER_04: And so took the call, watched a couple episodes of the show, and fast forward four months after interviewing, I'm packing my bags to LA.
- 3:26SPEAKER_04: I feel like it was just one of those things where I'm very like led by like the doors that open, and I'm like super strong in my faith.
- 3:32SPEAKER_04: And I was like, God, open this door.
- 3:34SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna keep leaning into it.
- 3:35SPEAKER_04: And who knows what's gonna come.
- 3:36SPEAKER_04: So it was a little bit of just like surrender to the moment and be open-minded.
- 3:40SPEAKER_04: And yeah, I was single.
- 3:41SPEAKER_04: So I was like, well, what do I gotta lose?
- 3:43SPEAKER_04: Like maybe I do find my man's on a TV show.
- 3:45SPEAKER_05: Like, I don't know.
- 3:46Keri Croft: Well, so then I was thinking too, like, so you are big in your faith, and so like I'm gonna assume your parents and your family are too.
- 3:53Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 3:53Keri Croft: Um, yeah, we're kind of on different walks, but yeah.
- 3:55Keri Croft: Okay.
- 3:56Keri Croft: So then did you did you have to sell?
- 3:58Keri Croft: Like, was this just something like they're just used to you and they're like, okay, whatever you want to do?
- 4:02Keri Croft: Or was this weird for your parents?
- 4:03SPEAKER_04: Or like what was the deal?
- 4:04SPEAKER_04: Oh no, my parents knew I'm a lunatic.
- 4:06SPEAKER_04: Like they're like, this checks.
- 4:08SPEAKER_04: Like, every no, but I would say everybody that knows me in my life, everyone's like, this checks.
- 4:12SPEAKER_04: And it's not because, like, oh, they always thought I'd be on like an unscripted or reality TV show.
- 4:17SPEAKER_04: It's because like life with me is so random.
- 4:19SPEAKER_04: Like, I'm always doing something, I'm adventurous, I'm taking risks.
- 4:23SPEAKER_04: Like, so this came up.
- 4:24SPEAKER_04: They're like, okay, yeah, sure, you should check it out.
- 4:27SPEAKER_04: I would say, like, there's obviously a level of skepticism because they're my parents, but like my mom was so excited.
- 4:32SPEAKER_04: She's like, You like this is such a cool opportunity, like you have to do it.
- 4:36SPEAKER_04: And my dad, I drugged my feet a little bit, like telling him because like dads are just a little bit harder, and I'm his only girl.
- 4:44SPEAKER_04: And so I told him at Thanksgiving, and his phrase back to me was, I've always told you no, and you never listen to me.
- 4:52SPEAKER_04: So why would I why would you start now?
- 4:53SPEAKER_04: And then he followed up with that and we giggled about that.
- 4:56SPEAKER_04: But he followed up with that.
- 4:57SPEAKER_04: He's like, No, I've raised you to have a good head on your shoulders.
- 5:00SPEAKER_04: I trust you, and I know you're gonna make the right decision.
- 5:02SPEAKER_04: They were both like, just go for it.
- 5:04SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 5:04SPEAKER_04: I mean, my dad's was a little bit round of away of like, go for it.
- 5:07SPEAKER_04: He was just like, just go.
- 5:08SPEAKER_04: You're gonna do what you want to do anyway.
- 5:10SPEAKER_04: You're gonna do what you want to do.
- 5:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 5:11SPEAKER_04: And I mean, like, whatever.
- 5:12SPEAKER_04: It worked out.
- 5:13SPEAKER_04: Like it always, but I'm in that delusional mindset of like everything will work out because like, why wouldn't it?
- 5:18SPEAKER_04: Right?
- 5:18SPEAKER_04: Like it'll, I'll never let myself fail.
- 5:20SPEAKER_04: So I was like, Well, what do I gotta lose?
- 5:22SPEAKER_04: It's it's just a once in a lifetime experience.
- 5:24SPEAKER_02: Totally.
- 5:25Keri Croft: So it continues to be.
- 5:26Keri Croft: It's pretty sure we'll get to that.
- 5:28Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 5:28Keri Croft: So, what was your most previous relationship prior to going on the show?
- 5:32Keri Croft: Honestly, nothing of substance.
- 5:34SPEAKER_04: I feel like my journey with dating is I was very set on establishing myself and being like an independent woman who could just be very self-sufficient.
- 5:46SPEAKER_04: I don't need a man to come in and like complete me.
- 5:48SPEAKER_04: I want him to come in and enhance me.
- 5:50SPEAKER_04: So I would say I spent a lot of my 20s like establishing myself just like mentally and getting myself just a really strong sense of self.
- 5:58SPEAKER_04: And then kind of as I got into my 30s, I was like, all right, like careers checking.
- 6:02SPEAKER_04: Like, I feel like I have some like goals accomplished and I'm ready to like just lean into like my personal life.
- 6:09SPEAKER_04: And it it just didn't come.
- 6:10SPEAKER_04: Like you meet people, and I was like, listen, at this point in my life, I'm dating for a husband.
- 6:14SPEAKER_04: Like, I don't need a boyfriend.
- 6:16SPEAKER_04: So if I didn't see like any future potential with people, I was like, not then, not investing, you know.
- 6:21Keri Croft: Yeah, because like in your young 30s and you're strong-willed and you have a great career and you're in Columbus, like, what is the dating scene like?
- 6:28Keri Croft: I can imagine it being a very small pool where you kind of see the same, then you're like, oh, this is depressing me.
- 6:34Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 6:34Keri Croft: So like, is it at were you doing apps?
- 6:36SPEAKER_04: Like, what does it feel like?
- 6:38SPEAKER_04: I would say Columbus definitely felt like you're on top of it.
- 6:41SPEAKER_04: You kind of have a pulse on who's single, who's not.
- 6:44SPEAKER_04: I feel like your friends who are like-minded are probably dating the similar type of guy.
- 6:48SPEAKER_04: So yeah, the pool is smaller, but I think for me, I was very open to like long distance and you know, meeting somebody elsewhere.
- 6:55SPEAKER_04: And so I travel a ton.
- 6:57SPEAKER_04: And so I always thought that by living my life and putting myself in different rooms or cities or just sitting at different tables, my community would grow and I would maybe find like somebody that way.
- 7:08SPEAKER_04: I mean, I dabbled in the apps, I was not avid on them at all.
- 7:11SPEAKER_04: It was more about just like living.
- 7:13SPEAKER_04: And like when I would go out, my friends and I laugh.
- 7:15SPEAKER_04: We're like, we're either gonna like find a husband, find a new job.
- 7:18SPEAKER_04: Like, we just go out and live and like talk to people and connect.
- 7:22SPEAKER_04: And you're just like, you just never know where life's gonna take you.
- 7:25SPEAKER_04: I think like I was just super open-minded as I was like living my life of being like he could be anywhere.
- 7:30Keri Croft: Where are all the like hips?
- 7:31SPEAKER_02: You're what, 34 now?
- 7:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 7:32SPEAKER_02: Where are we?
- 7:33SPEAKER_04: It would be 35 on Friday, though.
- 7:35Keri Croft: Oh, hey girl.
- 7:36Keri Croft: I know I'm like 35.
- 7:38SPEAKER_04: Is this a vibe?
- 7:39SPEAKER_04: It's a great age.
- 7:40SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 7:40SPEAKER_04: I'm like 35.
- 7:41SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 7:42SPEAKER_04: No, that's great.
- 7:42SPEAKER_04: But, anyways, yes, 33.
- 7:44SPEAKER_04: Where'd this go?
- 7:45Keri Croft: Here in Columbus?
- 7:46Keri Croft: Like when you were here.
- 7:47Keri Croft: Like, what's the like I mean?
- 7:48SPEAKER_04: So here's the thing is I feel like there's definitely a shift in like what Columbus has to offer in terms of how short north has evolved.
- 7:56SPEAKER_04: I feel I find ourselves now like doing more like late dinners turned into cocktail kind of vibe.
- 8:03SPEAKER_04: So, like, love antiques on high.
- 8:05SPEAKER_04: I'm really sad that Mouton closed because Mouton was like the vibe in Short North.
- 8:09SPEAKER_04: I love that.
- 8:10SPEAKER_04: Apartment B, like, love that.
- 8:12SPEAKER_04: It's a little speakeasy behind um bodega.
- 8:15SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 8:16SPEAKER_04: But like I would say more cocktail vibes, right?
- 8:18SPEAKER_04: Where you can have conversation.
- 8:20SPEAKER_04: It's like vibey, fun, moody, but like you'll catch me at a pinthouse or something like that on like a game day.
- 8:26SPEAKER_04: But I mean, that's not where I was gonna find like my husband.
- 8:29SPEAKER_04: I mean, let's be honest, I'm not gonna find my husband at any of these bars.
- 8:32Keri Croft: You never know.
- 8:32Keri Croft: True.
- 8:33Keri Croft: You're there.
- 8:33Keri Croft: That's true.
- 8:34Keri Croft: That's what that's what I always think, where it's like, you know, I'm not gonna find him at a bar, but it's like everybody's, you know, good people frequent these places.
- 8:40Keri Croft: So you're totally single now.
- 8:42Keri Croft: Or is cut so as but Connor, he's out, right?
- 8:45Keri Croft: Connor's out.
- 8:46Keri Croft: Connor is absolutely out.
- 8:47Keri Croft: Now, when I chat GPT'd this, chat is not right all the time.
- 8:50Keri Croft: So, but what chat said was that it was I've never tried this before.
- 8:54SPEAKER_04: I was like, what is chat saying about me?
- 8:56Keri Croft: So chat was saying that Connor announced the breakup, but that he broke up.
- 9:00Keri Croft: Did he break it off?
- 9:01Keri Croft: Yes.
- 9:01Keri Croft: Okay, and then he said, you know why.
- 9:03Keri Croft: Oh my god, but he hated it.
- 9:05Keri Croft: But he never, he never like went.
- 9:07Keri Croft: I'm gonna give a disclaimer.
- 9:09Keri Croft: That was just Chat GPT, but does that does that track?
- 9:12SPEAKER_04: Well, I hate the you know why because I will say that the us being vague about it is stirring up just rumors.
- 9:19SPEAKER_04: Like it seems like I cheated on him or something.
- 9:21SPEAKER_04: Can we just do the bombshell reveal?
- 9:23SPEAKER_04: Let's just do the bombshell reveal.
- 9:24Keri Croft: Let's bombshell reveal this shit.
- 9:26SPEAKER_04: No, it's okay.
- 9:27SPEAKER_04: So I I've actually I just talked about it on a previous podcast too, but basically at the let's see, we filmed the reunion.
- 9:34SPEAKER_04: There was four days later, there was so much noise happening.
- 9:37SPEAKER_04: And so this is like mid-February.
- 9:39SPEAKER_04: We've been airing for like two weeks.
- 9:41SPEAKER_04: Like we're like at the very start of everything.
- 9:43SPEAKER_04: And Connor came to me and was like, hey, I really need to navigate this next chapter alone.
- 9:49SPEAKER_04: And I was like, wait a second.
- 9:52SPEAKER_04: Wait a second.
- 9:53SPEAKER_04: I'm like, this is insane.
- 9:55SPEAKER_04: We are going through the most intense like part of this whole experiment right now together.
- 10:00SPEAKER_04: And anybody who could help me get through this is you.
- 10:03SPEAKER_04: Like you and I know our truth.
- 10:04SPEAKER_04: And like I was willing to put our relationship at the forefront.
- 10:07SPEAKER_04: And I was like, our relationship is a priority over everything else.
- 10:10SPEAKER_04: Like, you and I, like, I'm gonna lean on you to get through this.
- 10:13SPEAKER_04: And like, I do not want to navigate this independently.
- 10:16SPEAKER_04: So that was a really interesting conversation for us to both have because I didn't quite understand what he needed and he didn't understand what I needed.
- 10:24SPEAKER_04: And like I say that that's like the data point.
- 10:26SPEAKER_04: I was like, we couldn't even work through the airing of this show, which told me a lot about our relationship.
- 10:33SPEAKER_04: I was like, this is crazy.
- 10:34SPEAKER_04: How are we ever gonna build a family and get through bigger stuff than this?
- 10:38SPEAKER_04: You know, like it was insane.
- 10:40SPEAKER_04: And so I think there's a lot of contributing factors to why Connor wanted to navigate it alone.
- 10:45SPEAKER_04: I think there was probably some question marks, confusion, like maybe him trying to navigate who he is in all of this, and maybe a little bit feeling lost in his sense of identity.
- 10:57SPEAKER_04: And I think there was a lot of attention from other people.
- 10:59SPEAKER_04: And so, from what I've heard in the community and what I've received in my DMs, whether on TikTok or Instagram, that man has been busy.
- 11:08SPEAKER_04: So I think there were other things that he wanted to explore.
- 11:12SPEAKER_04: And I will leave it at that because it just became really disgusting while I'm sitting there hurting and literally couldn't get off the couch and my anxiety is through the roof.
- 11:22SPEAKER_04: That's the behavior that was happening on the other side.
- 11:24SPEAKER_04: So it became really easy for me to move on with my life because that's not something I wanted to be a part of, and that's not something I deserve either.
- 11:33SPEAKER_04: Hell no, girl.
- 11:34SPEAKER_04: You know the phrase and that probably I'm trying to be as PC as possible.
- 11:38SPEAKER_04: So that's why I laugh is like he's like, you know why.
- 11:41SPEAKER_04: And he will probably stand 10 toes down right now and be like, it was the conversation with Chris.
- 11:46SPEAKER_04: I'm like, so you broke up with me over a TV edit.
- 11:48SPEAKER_04: What are we doing here?
- 11:49SPEAKER_04: That's just a scapegoat.
- 11:50SPEAKER_04: That's flimsy.
- 11:51SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 11:51SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 11:52SPEAKER_04: It's just I was like, after a whole year of building a relationship with me, and you're gonna be like, you know why?
- 11:56SPEAKER_04: I'm like, because of a scene in a TV show that we already took care of a year ago.
- 12:00SPEAKER_04: I said if that's what helps you sleep at night, sure.
- 12:03SPEAKER_04: But he won't go on and say everything I just said because I was like, you wanted to fuck around and find out.
- 12:08SPEAKER_04: Sorry.
- 12:08Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 12:09SPEAKER_04: And hopefully I'm like, I don't think the grass is greener, but whatever.
- 12:13SPEAKER_04: Not uh not with what I'm looking at right now.
- 12:15SPEAKER_04: So yeah, that's the T.
- 12:17SPEAKER_04: Interesting.
- 12:18SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 12:18SPEAKER_04: I mean, here's the thing as I will not say, like, I was not perfect either.
- 12:21SPEAKER_04: Like, I feel like the show and when it was airing, it brought out some nasty sides of me.
- 12:25SPEAKER_04: And it probably wasn't pleasant to be around from his point of view either.
- 12:28SPEAKER_04: But I do think as in a relationship, that was our first big comp like conflict or like life occurrence, right?
- 12:35SPEAKER_04: And so that's what was really sad is I was like, wow, if we can't get through this, like we're good.
- 12:39SPEAKER_04: You gotta lose fast.
- 12:40Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 12:40Keri Croft: So speaking of that, the the fear I would have in your shoes with something airing on reality TV is like, what am I gonna cringe over with myself?
- 12:50Keri Croft: Like what am I gonna literally everything?
- 12:53Keri Croft: I know that they edit and they they create characters, right?
- 12:56Keri Croft: We all we all get that.
- 12:57Keri Croft: Yeah, but it was you to an extent.
- 12:59Keri Croft: So what did you see in yourself where you're like, is there was there any mirror that now after that show you're more careful with certain things about yourself?
- 13:07Keri Croft: What was the learning experience?
- 13:09SPEAKER_04: Oh, a hundred percent.
- 13:11SPEAKER_04: So I would say I love that you use the word characters because this has been something I've been like grappling with too, because I went on the show and I was like, I was me, like to a T.
- 13:21SPEAKER_04: Like my friends that watch it back and my family, they're like, it was like I was sitting on the couch with you.
- 13:26SPEAKER_04: Like you were saying the certain like the same things, like you are that person in and outside of the experiment.
- 13:32SPEAKER_04: And so, number one, it's interesting.
- 13:33SPEAKER_04: So I was like, that was me.
- 13:35SPEAKER_04: It really was me, but it was also probably some of the worst parts of me, or like highlighting my faults like over and over and over again.
- 13:44SPEAKER_04: And I'm like, yeah, that isn't like the best part of me.
- 13:47SPEAKER_04: And that does like feel icky to watch back and like cringy because I know that those are my faults and I know that those are places I need to work on.
- 13:54SPEAKER_04: And so I would say for me, I think that I almost see like the physical breaking down of my walls and like me unraveling like in the experiment from the day I stepped foot in the pods to like when Connor and I are standing in the kitchen, like deciding we're not gonna go through with our marriage or the wedding, I should say.
- 14:12SPEAKER_04: But it was just interesting because I was like, wow, I can like, I'm I'm physically like morphing on the show.
- 14:18SPEAKER_04: Like from where I started to where the show ended, I feel like I was a different person.
- 14:23SPEAKER_04: Like I was becoming more vulnerable and I was letting people in.
- 14:25SPEAKER_04: Like I've always had a chip on my shoulder and like he was starting to take that off for me.
- 14:30SPEAKER_04: And I was like, wow.
- 14:31SPEAKER_04: And it was scaring me because I was like, Am I doing this?
- 14:34SPEAKER_04: Am I really gonna like fall for this person and like be so vulnerable?
- 14:37SPEAKER_04: So it was an emotional journey for me, just even on the show, and then obviously thereafter.
- 14:42SPEAKER_04: But like I would say in those seven weeks and watching it back, I was like, I didn't realize how much I transformed in those that time frame and continue to do so.
- 14:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 14:50SPEAKER_04: So I feel like it's funny to hear character because we've been referenced as that.
- 14:55SPEAKER_04: But I was like, it was me.
- 14:56SPEAKER_04: Like I wasn't being anybody I wasn't.
- 14:58SPEAKER_04: You know what I'm saying?
- 14:59Keri Croft: It's just it's it's how they can sort of spin the edits and kind of create because they have to do, you know, some sort of structure to the show.
- 15:05Keri Croft: Where does a chip come from that you have on your shoulder?
- 15:08Keri Croft: Like, yeah.
- 15:09SPEAKER_04: Um, well, I'd say I can probably source it back to like my parents' marriage.
- 15:13SPEAKER_04: Like I love them dearly, but it hasn't been easy to navigate, especially as an adult child.
- 15:20SPEAKER_04: So they back in college, kind of like we started getting exposure to like some of the things that were happening in my parents' marriage, and like having my brother and I having to like step in and kind of be the voice of reason or like the sounding board.
- 15:33SPEAKER_04: And it just became this like weird dynamic within our family, where I'm like, wow, like I'm seeing a lot of things about my parents that are also like allowing me to see kind of like what I don't want in a relationship or how I want to make my next steps to like create a life for myself so that I am not put in this position where I'm deciding if I need to have a divorce or stay with my husband or wife or whatever.
- 15:58SPEAKER_04: And so for me, I feel like the guard kind of came up at that point.
- 16:01SPEAKER_04: And I was like, all right, I see this.
- 16:03SPEAKER_04: I want to, my parents got married when they were 20 years old.
- 16:06SPEAKER_04: They had my brother and I when they were by the time they're 25.
- 16:09SPEAKER_04: And for me, I was like, I'm gonna go live my life.
- 16:12SPEAKER_04: Like, I wanna sew my oats.
- 16:13SPEAKER_04: I wanna do all the things that I need to do.
- 16:16SPEAKER_04: I need to find myself.
- 16:17SPEAKER_04: And then once I do that, like let's let it rip with a partner, you know?
- 16:20SPEAKER_04: And so I feel like that chip came on to just be like, you need to go, you need to go do you for a while.
- 16:25SPEAKER_04: And I did me for a very long time.
- 16:27SPEAKER_04: Like, yeah, I mean, I was I experienced that when I was in college.
- 16:31SPEAKER_04: So that was like, you know, it was 21, 22.
- 16:33SPEAKER_04: And I probably really didn't find myself until I was about like 27, 28.
- 16:38SPEAKER_04: I mean, I continue to find myself, but I didn't really feel comfortable like even starting to think about dating until then.
- 16:43SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 16:44Keri Croft: Well that's traumatizing when something happens with your parents.
- 16:47Keri Croft: Were you completely floored by it?
- 16:49Keri Croft: Or were you like, I saw that coming a mile away?
- 16:51SPEAKER_04: Oh no, like completely floored by it.
- 16:54SPEAKER_04: Like what?
- 16:54SPEAKER_04: Like we went from like the most like all American family to like, oh my gosh, this is this is us now.
- 17:00SPEAKER_04: And you know, and that's where I've gone through so much therapy and conversation about it that it's like it's nothing that I'm like ashamed of.
- 17:06SPEAKER_04: I think it was just eye-opening where I was like, oh, I was living this like life with rose-colored glasses to be like, oh, this is how it goes.
- 17:13SPEAKER_04: Everything's honky dory, and like these are the gender roles in the house, and this is how like a marriage should go.
- 17:18SPEAKER_04: And then it our lives got flipped upside down, and I was like, oh, like it that could happen to anybody, right?
- 17:25SPEAKER_04: And so I feel like for me, that was just kind of an aha moment for me as like, oh, well, I need to really like make sure I'm good as Brie, standing here alone, and then everything else could come into play, you know?
- 17:37Keri Croft: Oh, yeah, because that's a fault line.
- 17:39Keri Croft: Like that's how I define it those moments that create a fault line in your life where it's like there was you before, yeah, and then there's you after.
- 17:46Keri Croft: And then how are you going to then take that and create the, you know, continue to create the masterpiece that is your life?
- 17:52Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 17:52Keri Croft: With that information that your parents are freaking, they don't know what the fuck they're doing either.
- 17:56Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 17:57Keri Croft: Like the day you realize your parents, you're like, oh hell.
- 18:01SPEAKER_05: Isn't that funny?
- 18:02SPEAKER_05: It's crazy.
- 18:02SPEAKER_05: That's literally what it was.
- 18:03SPEAKER_05: I was like, oh my gosh.
- 18:05SPEAKER_05: Like nobody has it figured out.
- 18:07Keri Croft: No one, honey.
- 18:08Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 18:08Keri Croft: No one.
- 18:08Keri Croft: And I have yet to find anyone, right?
- 18:10Keri Croft: But yeah, it can be very, very, very traumatizing.

- 19:48Keri Croft: So question about when you did when you saw Connor, like when you were like, and you saw, okay, because I know there had to be some like and a lot of anticipation, a lot of trepidation.
- 19:59Keri Croft: But like, okay, 10 out of 10, like were you like everything, everything you ever dreamt physically, was he that?
- 20:04Keri Croft: Or were you kind of like, like I said, if if I would have opened my eyes and he would have been like six, like five foot six, I would have been like, fuck.
- 20:10Keri Croft: Right.
- 20:11SPEAKER_04: Were you like, where were you on the like on the spectrum of like how I thought, like, I was definitely attracted to him.
- 20:17SPEAKER_04: Like, I absolutely was like, okay, like this checks.
- 20:20SPEAKER_04: And honestly, if you lined up all the guys that I've like dated, like they all kind of have similar features, which is hilarious.
- 20:26SPEAKER_04: They're like dark hair, blue eyes, like beards, like all of them.
- 20:30SPEAKER_04: I'm telling you, like I could line up three of them and you're like, you squit, and it's basically that.
- 20:34SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 20:34SPEAKER_04: So I was like, oh, I was attracted to him.
- 20:36SPEAKER_04: But I think like the hardest part is like it takes you like a solid like 10 minutes, probably the actually the whole time, let's be honest, to like connect the voice and the physical part of it.
- 20:46SPEAKER_04: Like I was like, this is still a stranger.
- 20:48SPEAKER_04: And like you kind of get like icked out because you're just like, ew, like you don't know me.
- 20:51SPEAKER_04: You're kissing me.
- 20:52SPEAKER_04: Like, ugh, like what is going on?
- 20:53SPEAKER_04: And you're like touching me.
- 20:55SPEAKER_04: Like, I think that's the thing is I was like, oh, he's attractive, but like it felt weird to like connect.
- 21:00SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 21:00Keri Croft: I just can't imagine that moment where you're like opening your eyes, you're like, ta-da! Hello, like me.
- 21:06Keri Croft: And then it's like, and then you, I mean, you were really gonna go all the way.
- 21:10Keri Croft: You're gonna marry him.
- 21:12SPEAKER_04: Well, yes and no.
- 21:13SPEAKER_04: I mean, I definitely saw a future with him.
- 21:16SPEAKER_04: And I think though, that I operate from a level of skepticism always.
- 21:20SPEAKER_04: Like, I'm just not somebody that like leads with my heart.
- 21:22SPEAKER_04: I'm very analytical.
- 21:24SPEAKER_04: And that's something I like I've I've consciously had to switch up sometimes in like my decision making.
- 21:30SPEAKER_04: And so I think I had to build the confidence to get to the altar.
- 21:34SPEAKER_04: Whereas like he was like, I'll marry you right now.
- 21:36SPEAKER_04: He leads with his heart.
- 21:37SPEAKER_04: He was like, Yes, let's do this now.
- 21:38SPEAKER_04: And then you can see his skepticism like growing as I'm like having more like conversations with him.
- 21:44SPEAKER_04: I think I was like leaning into the experiment.
- 21:46SPEAKER_04: I was seeing like, could this really work and could I really get to the altar?
- 21:50SPEAKER_04: But there was just definitely moments where I was like, There's I can't do this.
- 21:53SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 21:53SPEAKER_04: Like I tried to leave the experiment so many times.
- 21:55SPEAKER_04: I did.
- 21:56SPEAKER_04: Oh, I can't be waving the white flag, like, I gotta get out of here.
- 21:59SPEAKER_04: And then they're like, just Keep going, keep trusting the process.
- 22:01SPEAKER_04: And I was like, I'm gonna end up on my fucking wedding day in a wedding dress, like trusting this process.
- 22:06SPEAKER_04: Like we're not doing that.
- 22:07Keri Croft: How often were you talking to Nick and Vanessa?
- 22:09Keri Croft: Were they like heavily involved, or did they just come in for they just come for like the show?
- 22:14SPEAKER_04: But I mean, we've had we maybe had like four interactions with them, but they're in and out.
- 22:19SPEAKER_04: I mean, let's be honest, they have they're booked a bit.
- 22:21SPEAKER_04: They have bigger fish to fry.
- 22:22Keri Croft: Yeah, they're like, they're like we've created this great show.
- 22:24Keri Croft: Let's go do more.
- 22:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we're gonna go stop in, say hello, make sure you guys are good and we're out.
- 22:28SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 22:28Keri Croft: But okay, so let's move into corporate America versus where you are today.
- 22:32Keri Croft: So, do you think this did this show and the platform give you like the confidence and momentum to do this?
- 22:38Keri Croft: Or were you always in the back of your mind, like, I want to do my own thing someday?
- 22:42Keri Croft: Was that always in the plan?
- 22:43SPEAKER_04: I would say for me, I grew up with a family of entrepreneurs.
- 22:47SPEAKER_04: So the sky has always been the limit for me and the delusion is very real.
- 22:52SPEAKER_04: My dad's like one of seven.
- 22:53SPEAKER_04: I would say like almost every single one of them have owned their own companies.
- 22:56SPEAKER_04: And I was like always having, you know, not just the lemonade stand, but like your girl was doing like all kinds of stuff when I was young, like just to make money and do have a business.
- 23:06SPEAKER_04: So it's always been in my blood.
- 23:08SPEAKER_04: And I think it's like when you come from a background like that, you can really dream big and you can really like let yourself just be futuristic and be like, what else can I be doing?
- 23:18SPEAKER_04: And so I've always operated in that sense.
- 23:21SPEAKER_04: But I once I graduated from college, I got into corporate retail.
- 23:26SPEAKER_04: I had a fantastic training program at Target.
- 23:28SPEAKER_04: And then I established myself in corporate America.
- 23:32SPEAKER_04: And I I've had so many conversations with my dad along the way of being like, when do I know when to walk away?
- 23:37SPEAKER_04: Because I knew it wasn't gonna be forever.
- 23:38SPEAKER_04: Like I was like, this is good, good training.
- 23:40SPEAKER_04: I'm like learning so much.
- 23:42SPEAKER_04: It's stable, like it's great for like where I'm at now.
- 23:46SPEAKER_04: But like there's gonna come a time where I'm just done working for the man kind of vibe.
- 23:50SPEAKER_04: And so my dad kind of like coached me through that.
- 23:53SPEAKER_04: And he was just like, you're gonna know when like your time is up, when it's like you've exhausted everything that you need to like fill up your cup and skill set too.
- 24:01SPEAKER_04: And so I feel like I started having these thoughts like before the show.
- 24:05SPEAKER_04: I was really like I was having really honest conversations with my managers at work, being like, I don't dream of being a leader in this building.
- 24:12SPEAKER_04: Like, I'm a doer, I'm a worker bee, I love to be hands-on.
- 24:17SPEAKER_04: And the further up I go up the corporate ladder, I'm gonna be more in a managerial role.
- 24:22SPEAKER_04: And I was like, I just wanna be, I wanna do my own thing.
- 24:25SPEAKER_04: Like, I wanna, I want the autonomy to run my own business and and kind of thrive in like the white space, gray space.
- 24:32SPEAKER_04: And so that was a huge aha for me when I like say it, said it out loud.
- 24:35SPEAKER_04: I was like, I don't want to be a director or VP here.
- 24:38SPEAKER_04: And once you have that in your head, you're like, okay, but like when and what's next?
- 24:42SPEAKER_04: And so I kind of deemed that as I got into my last role at work or in in my corporate life.
- 24:48SPEAKER_04: And I don't know, the show happened and life was just lifing so hard, and things were going a hundred miles a minute, and the opportunity for me to step away from corporate America came up, and I was like, if it's if there's any ever a right time, it's now because I just had all this pent-up energy and momentum of just life, like things.
- 25:07SPEAKER_04: And I was like, I need to step away and just figure out what I want next.
- 25:10SPEAKER_04: So, long story short, I'm like, I've always thought about this, and it was just a matter of when and how and when was the right time.
- 25:18SPEAKER_04: And I'm like, gosh, it's been what did I started my career in 2014?
- 25:22SPEAKER_04: So cashed in 12 years of corporate America.
- 25:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 25:26SPEAKER_04: I was like, it's pretty significant.
- 25:28SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 25:28SPEAKER_04: So now here we are, figuring it out.
- 25:31SPEAKER_04: You're doing it.
- 25:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 25:32SPEAKER_04: And what do you want to share about where you are?
- 25:34SPEAKER_04: I mean, I feel like I'm very open to, I'm open-minded to what's next, which is, I think, first all, first of all, that alone can open up so many doors.
- 25:45SPEAKER_04: Like, I'm not pigeonholed to be like, I want to do X, Y, or Z, and I definitely need to stay away from corporate America.
- 25:51SPEAKER_04: So continuing to stay open-minded and surrendering to like just the vulnerability of being in this space is been the two things at the forefront for me.
- 25:59SPEAKER_04: But I mean, I have a really fantastic skill set that I've learned, and I have this really interesting, weird platform that I'm now stepped into.
- 26:06SPEAKER_04: So I'm trying to blend the two together.
- 26:08SPEAKER_04: And I'm like, how do I create and still have and leverage my retail background, but be my own boss and maybe reach some people along the way.
- 26:18SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 26:18SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 26:19SPEAKER_04: But I'm like week three into this.
- 26:20SPEAKER_02: No, it's great.
- 26:21SPEAKER_02: So the self-discovery is really, really cool.
- 26:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 26:23Keri Croft: And you're you've surrounded yourself with smart people.
- 26:25SPEAKER_02: Oh, heck yeah.
- 26:26SPEAKER_02: Because Jackie, oh yeah.
- 26:28Keri Croft: Jackie Hudson is the GOAT, in my opinion.
- 26:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 26:31SPEAKER_04: Like she is so great.
- 26:32SPEAKER_04: I know.
- 26:33SPEAKER_04: And she has been also like somebody that's like encouraged me.
- 26:36SPEAKER_04: Like I always done like little side hustles, like I said, like since I was little until I I mean up until now.
- 26:42SPEAKER_04: Like I've always been doing things outside of corporate America.
- 26:45SPEAKER_04: I have real estate properties.
- 26:47SPEAKER_04: I was creating my own like game day product in in apparel for my friends, like on my sewing machine.
- 26:53SPEAKER_04: And I got to talking to Jackie and we just had coffee and she's like, let's just legitimize this.
- 26:58SPEAKER_04: Let's let's let's like do it.
- 26:59SPEAKER_04: Like, and I'm like, let's do it, let's build a brand.
- 27:02SPEAKER_04: And so she's just been really a great catalyst for me to be like, just step out on it, try some things.
- 27:07SPEAKER_04: Like, why not?
- 27:08SPEAKER_04: What do you have to lose?
- 27:09SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 27:09SPEAKER_04: And so now I think I finally have that time and space and that creative thinking to be like, let's do it, let's go for it.
- 27:16SPEAKER_04: And that's in a lot of aspects of life.
- 27:17SPEAKER_04: Like, I think the one thing I'm learning is like it's not just gonna be one thing I'm working on.
- 27:21SPEAKER_04: Like, I need to find like what are my three or four pillars and try some things out and see what I like.
- 27:27SPEAKER_04: So that's where I'm at right now.
- 27:28SPEAKER_04: I mean, I'm doing a little bit of like retail consulting, building my own brand, figuring out what content creation looks like.
- 27:34SPEAKER_04: I think the funniest part is when people are like, oh, you quit your job to be an influencer.
- 27:38SPEAKER_04: I was like, no, not at all.
- 27:40SPEAKER_04: Like I quit my job to create a life that's like flexible and I have freedom and I can do whatever the fuck I want now.
- 27:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 27:47SPEAKER_04: Or just be like, yes, yes, I did.
- 27:49Keri Croft: Yeah, I do.
- 27:49Keri Croft: And then just be quiet and then just build underneath it all, and then be like, fine, that's literally less explaining.
- 27:54Keri Croft: You're explaining, yep.
- 27:55Keri Croft: You don't owe anybody any ex that's that's something that takes some sage wisdom from the old ID over here.
- 28:01Keri Croft: What people are gonna assume, you know, whatever.
- 28:03Keri Croft: Yep, that's what I'm doing.
- 28:04Keri Croft: I'm gonna be an influencer, honey.
- 28:05Keri Croft: That's what I'm gonna do.
- 28:06Keri Croft: And then like three years from now, you're like, wow.
- 28:08Keri Croft: Yep.
- 28:08Keri Croft: You know, like just fuck them all.
- 28:10SPEAKER_04: Now, Steve.
- 28:10SPEAKER_04: You are literally, I love that you just said that though, because my when I called my dad, and I'll reference my dad a lot because he's like my dad and my mentor, and he's amazing, but I called him after I like left my job.
- 28:22SPEAKER_04: And the first thing he said to me was that he was like, Stay humble and don't let anybody know your next move.
- 28:28SPEAKER_04: And I was like, Yes.
- 28:29SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 28:29SPEAKER_04: So when people ask me, like, what are you doing?
- 28:32SPEAKER_04: And I was like, I kind of am just like just figuring it out because like just watch me.
- 28:37SPEAKER_04: Like I'm I am doing so many things in the background, and even my friends can't keep up right now.
- 28:41SPEAKER_04: And I was like, just watch.
- 28:42SPEAKER_04: You know the be humble but let motherfuckers know.
- 28:45SPEAKER_05: Okay, love that.
- 28:46Keri Croft: That's one of my favorite quotes of all time.
- 28:48Keri Croft: You're like, be humble but let motherfuckers know.
- 28:51Keri Croft: That's that's just kind of like what it is.
- 28:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 28:54SPEAKER_02: What's your dad's name?
- 28:54SPEAKER_02: Gerard.
- 28:55SPEAKER_02: We call him G-Man.
- 28:56SPEAKER_02: Oh, G Man.
- 28:56SPEAKER_02: He's iconic.
- 28:57Keri Croft: Let's uh G-Man is iconic.
- 28:59Keri Croft: He's an icon.
- 28:59Keri Croft: Would he answer if we called him or is he at work?
- 29:01Keri Croft: Wait, he might.
- 29:02Keri Croft: Speaking of content creator and creation, so you don't know who Gary V is.
- 29:06Keri Croft: No.
- 29:06Keri Croft: Which I feel like I'm totally giving you like this.
- 29:08Keri Croft: If you take anything from me, take this.
- 29:10Keri Croft: And the Donato's pizza thing.
- 29:11Keri Croft: So Gary V is like the granddaddy of content creation.
- 29:16Keri Croft: Anything first of all, I think he's clairvoyant.
- 29:18Keri Croft: Okay.
- 29:19Keri Croft: So he started in his dad's wine shop.
- 29:21Keri Croft: I mean, this was like, I don't even know.
- 29:22Keri Croft: I mean, probably what was it 20-something years ago?
- 29:25Keri Croft: And he ended up, you know, putting everything online, like made it super successful.
- 29:29Keri Croft: So Gary V is now the guy.
- 29:31Keri Croft: He talks about all things like TikTok, Instagram, linked to all the platforms, and he makes all these wild predictions.
- 29:38Keri Croft: And I swear to God, he's like 95% right.
- 29:40Keri Croft: Okay, I love this.
- 29:41Keri Croft: So he's talking all about TikTok shop, especially with what you're doing.
- 29:44Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 29:45Keri Croft: The whole live shopping thing on TikTok, this is TikTok shop.
- 29:49Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 29:49Keri Croft: And so for me, I have gotten way more comfortable shopping on Instagram and TikTok.
- 29:54Keri Croft: Like I've gotten a couple of duds.
- 29:56Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 29:56Keri Croft: But most of the things I get, I'm like, okay, this crushed.
- 29:59Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 30:00Keri Croft: Like I think this crushed.
- 30:01Keri Croft: No, I'm like obsessed with it.
- 30:02Keri Croft: It's so cute, right?
- 30:03Keri Croft: And so Gary V is the master.
- 30:06Keri Croft: Like I listened to, I don't listen to, you have to be careful with like who you listen to, right?
- 30:10Keri Croft: Because there's so much, you know that.
- 30:11Keri Croft: There's so much shit coming in.
- 30:12Keri Croft: He's someone like if there's something from Gary V, I stop and listen.
- 30:16Keri Croft: Because he, first of all, he's he's super, super kind.
- 30:19Keri Croft: Like that's his thing, right?
- 30:20Keri Croft: He is very kind almost to a fault.
- 30:22Keri Croft: And so he cares.
- 30:23Keri Croft: He's not just this like fast talking, he does talk fast, but he really does like have great intentions and he's smart.
- 30:30Keri Croft: And I just think you should definitely lean into him.
- 30:33SPEAKER_04: Anything he says.
- 30:33SPEAKER_04: Well, and it's interesting that you even said that too.
- 30:36SPEAKER_04: It's like, yeah, I'm right now drinking from a fire hose where you're like, I'm trying to figure out what I even want to do within the content creation space because number one, you have to like love what you're doing, or like it just feels organic and like authentic.
- 30:50SPEAKER_04: Like, I'm not kidding.
- 30:51SPEAKER_04: I've tried to like record like a video of me doing my makeup and just talking to the camera.
- 30:56SPEAKER_04: Your girl can't double.
- 30:57SPEAKER_04: Like, I can't multitask like that.
- 30:58SPEAKER_04: Like, I'm don't even know what I'm talking about.
- 31:00SPEAKER_04: And I'm like, okay, so that's not me.
- 31:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 31:02SPEAKER_04: Never catch me like putting a video of me like doing my makeup and spilling the tea.
- 31:07SPEAKER_04: Like, that's just not where I'm at.
- 31:08SPEAKER_04: Like, but what do I like to do?
- 31:11SPEAKER_04: What is it?
- 31:11SPEAKER_04: And so that's the thing is like you see all these people doing stuff.
- 31:14SPEAKER_04: And I'm like, it's not about following what everyone else is doing, it's about finding what you like to do, and then it will just come through organically or authentically.
- 31:23SPEAKER_04: And so I don't know, you kind of like get swept up in it when you first start because you're like, oh, this is what everyone wants to see.
- 31:28SPEAKER_04: And I was like, fuck it.
- 31:30SPEAKER_04: Like, I'm just now gonna do what I want to do, and I've like, we'll just see if people like it or not.
- 31:35SPEAKER_04: And if they don't, who cares?
- 31:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah, who cares?
- 31:37SPEAKER_04: Let's party.
- 31:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah, exactly.
- 31:39SPEAKER_04: So that's why I okay, but I should listen to Gary Vee.
- 31:42SPEAKER_04: You gotta follow him.
- 31:43SPEAKER_04: Okay, he's the Is he on like everyone?
- 31:45Keri Croft: Oh, he's on, he is literally like that's why I'm so surprised you don't know him.
- 31:48SPEAKER_02: Like, is this like I maybe I do.
- 31:50SPEAKER_02: I'm just bad with like names and stuff.
- 31:51Keri Croft: Maybe it's a demographic thing.
- 31:53SPEAKER_04: Gary V.
- 31:54SPEAKER_04: Oh, I see him.
- 31:55SPEAKER_04: Oh my gosh.
- 31:56SPEAKER_04: Yeah, he's got like 12 million followers.
- 31:58Keri Croft: He's the guy.
- 31:58Keri Croft: Okay.
- 31:58Keri Croft: He's the guy.
- 31:59SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 32:00SPEAKER_02: But like it's so weird.
- 32:01Keri Croft: Wait, you're talking about this man?
- 32:02Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 32:03Keri Croft: Oh my gosh, this is amazing.
- 32:04Keri Croft: We have to clip that up and send that to someone on his team because they'll be just wrecked.
- 32:08Keri Croft: I'm like, I'm sorry, Gary.
- 32:10Keri Croft: Is that Gary Vee you speak of?
- 32:12Keri Croft: I'm and I'm thinking, is it my DM?
- 32:14SPEAKER_04: Twitter, liquid death.
- 32:15SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 32:16Keri Croft: Text me.
- 32:16Keri Croft: Okay, I'm dying.
- 32:17Keri Croft: He has had some people like DM me, like, so he's getting into that a little bit, which is a little bit.
- 32:21Keri Croft: I don't love that, Gary.
- 32:22Keri Croft: Just so you know.
- 32:23Keri Croft: All right.
- 32:23Keri Croft: Well, I know it you gotta, you gotta do what you gotta do, but I will be tuning in to Gary Vee now.
- 32:28Keri Croft: Anything else you can share about your brand?
- 32:30Keri Croft: Do you have anything that's uh solidified, or is it all just so it like there's no name yet?
- 32:34SPEAKER_04: Or is it Oh, it's called the basics.
- 32:36SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 32:36SPEAKER_04: Yes, that name has been around since 2018.
- 32:39SPEAKER_04: Very good.
- 32:40SPEAKER_04: The basics.
- 32:40SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 32:41SPEAKER_04: So, like I said, the whole story of that is I am a creative.
- 32:46SPEAKER_04: Um, but I mean, like, that's why I'm in retail.
- 32:48SPEAKER_04: I'm like the art and the science.
- 32:49SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 32:49SPEAKER_04: But I'm creative.
- 32:50SPEAKER_04: And so a lot of my friends, they were actually they were influencing before influencing was even a thing.
- 32:56SPEAKER_04: And she was going to like all these sporting events, and she's like, I need like cute things to wear these sporting events because like the the industry's trash.
- 33:03SPEAKER_04: Like, I there's nothing cute.
- 33:05SPEAKER_04: It's not tailored to women, like the styling's terrible, it's all box fit, and like everything looks generic carbon copy.
- 33:11SPEAKER_04: So I was like, cool, just send me some stuff and I can like start like making it.
- 33:14SPEAKER_04: So I was making stuff like puffer jackets, jean jackets, sweatshirts, crop tops, tank tops, like everything, like literally out of my house.
- 33:22SPEAKER_04: Like, I don't know, sometimes I would be like sewing, some days I'm tie-dying, some days I'm I don't know, bedazzling.
- 33:28SPEAKER_04: Like it was just like unique pieces for friends.
- 33:31SPEAKER_04: And then it turned into like bachelorette parties and babies and like all this stuff.
- 33:34SPEAKER_04: So I was just doing like cool custom gear for people in my life.
- 33:38SPEAKER_04: And then um, I needed a name.
- 33:41SPEAKER_04: So basics was it.
- 33:42SPEAKER_04: That's cool.
- 33:43SPEAKER_04: That's what we named it.
- 33:43SPEAKER_04: But yeah, so then since then it's just like evolved.
- 33:46SPEAKER_04: I've got dipped in and out of it, but it's always been around.
- 33:48SPEAKER_04: And then that's when Jackie's like, let's like legitimize this.
- 33:51SPEAKER_04: Cause I was like, I don't have time to like go on a sewing machine and do all this anymore.
- 33:56SPEAKER_04: So I was like, how do I now build out a team to do this for me?
- 34:00SPEAKER_04: And yeah, so I don't know, we're just gonna do some like LTO drop stuff and yeah, I don't know, it'll be fun.
- 34:06SPEAKER_04: I love it.
- 34:07SPEAKER_04: Like, that's like my passion project.
- 34:08Keri Croft: It's just fun.
- 34:08Keri Croft: So go, let's go back to dating real quick.
- 34:10Keri Croft: So I said, Are you single?
- 34:11Keri Croft: And you were kind of like, you didn't answer, you weren't like, so wait, are you kind of dabbling?
- 34:15Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 34:16Keri Croft: Okay.
- 34:16SPEAKER_04: Like off the market.
- 34:18Keri Croft: Oh, really?
- 34:19Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 34:19Keri Croft: Is this is this like this is like new news.
- 34:22Keri Croft: Oh, oh, we're dropping a bombshell.
- 34:24Keri Croft: We're dropping a bombshell.
- 34:26Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 34:26Keri Croft: Is it really new?
- 34:27Keri Croft: Are you hard launching right now or did you already hard launch?
- 34:30SPEAKER_04: No, the hard launch isn't happening yet.
- 34:31SPEAKER_04: So this is like a breadcrumb.
- 34:33SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 34:34SPEAKER_04: We're bread crumbing.
- 34:34SPEAKER_04: Okay, you're bread crumbing.
- 34:35SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we're bread crumbing.
- 34:36SPEAKER_04: But I'm super happy.
- 34:38SPEAKER_04: I I never though thought like I would jump back into dating.
- 34:42SPEAKER_04: Like I definitely took a beat, like I said, after the breakup.
- 34:46SPEAKER_04: And I was like, I just need to figure out what I'm doing with my life.
- 34:49SPEAKER_04: I need to like sit in this space.
- 34:51SPEAKER_04: And if it wasn't for this person coming into my life, I wouldn't, you know, like I if it wasn't him, then I'd still be single.
- 34:58SPEAKER_04: You know what I'm saying?
- 34:59SPEAKER_04: Like this person came into my life and I was like, I have to see where this goes.
- 35:02SPEAKER_04: Like it seems so serendipitous and like meant to be for right now, and I gotta figure out where that's gonna go too.
- 35:09SPEAKER_04: So that's been fun to navigate.
- 35:10SPEAKER_04: But also, I'm trying to keep parts of it private because I just came off of an entire season of people having opinions, and I'm like, I don't really care what people think right now.
- 35:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I don't really care.
- 35:22SPEAKER_04: And I don't really want to know.
- 35:23SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so I feel like the dust is settling though from the show and all that.
- 35:27SPEAKER_04: So the hard launch will be, I'm sure, soon.
- 35:30SPEAKER_04: But I'm like, I'm come back in here and hard launch.
- 35:32SPEAKER_04: I'm breadcrumbing him.
- 35:33SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 35:34Keri Croft: This is an exclusive breadcrumb brought to you by the Carrie Croft show.
- 35:38Keri Croft: No, he can.
- 35:39SPEAKER_03: We are in a relationship.
- 35:40SPEAKER_03: We can we can get him.
- 35:42Keri Croft: Can you bring him in?
- 35:42SPEAKER_02: Is he local?
- 35:43SPEAKER_02: No.
- 35:46SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 35:47SPEAKER_02: I can you bring him in?
- 35:48SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 35:48SPEAKER_02: Well, that would be so fun.
- 35:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we'll have him.
- 35:51SPEAKER_02: Wouldn't that be fun?
- 35:52SPEAKER_02: No, he's fun.
- 35:52SPEAKER_02: He's good.
- 35:53SPEAKER_02: Mr.
- 35:54SPEAKER_02: X.
- 35:54SPEAKER_04: No, literally, like he's the mystery man.
- 35:57SPEAKER_04: I just did a podcast um in LA too, and they were like, Are you dating?
- 36:01SPEAKER_04: And I was like, Yes.
- 36:02SPEAKER_04: But I just, you know what I mean?
- 36:03SPEAKER_04: I just like protecting like what we have right now because it's so new.
- 36:07SPEAKER_04: And I'm like, I don't need people.
- 36:08SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you don't need people.
- 36:09SPEAKER_04: Well, that's it.
- 36:10Keri Croft: You don't even you just put a period after that.
- 36:12Keri Croft: Period.
- 36:12Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 36:12Keri Croft: I don't need to be.
- 36:13Keri Croft: I don't need P.
- 36:14Keri Croft: I don't need people.
- 36:15unknown: I don't need people.
- 36:16Keri Croft: Period.
- 36:16Keri Croft: There's another one.
- 36:17Keri Croft: Like, you don't need people.
- 36:18Keri Croft: Crap.
- 36:19SPEAKER_02: Did G-Man respond?
- 36:20SPEAKER_02: Oh, G-Man?
- 36:22SPEAKER_02: I didn't even text him.
- 36:23SPEAKER_02: I thought I thought you were a cold call up.
- 36:24SPEAKER_02: Oh, I thought you were texting him to see.
- 36:26SPEAKER_02: Oh, wait.
- 36:26SPEAKER_02: I'll be like, wait, all right, can I call you?
- 36:29SPEAKER_04: Okay, he said yes.
- 36:30SPEAKER_02: Okay, good.
- 36:30Keri Croft: Gerard.
- 36:31Keri Croft: Hold on.
- 36:31SPEAKER_02: How's it going?
- 36:33SPEAKER_02: Wait, I can't hear.
- 36:34SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 36:34SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 36:35Keri Croft: I'm gonna call you back because you're your your daughter can't hear, so I have to work on a technical issue.
- 36:39Keri Croft: Can you can you answer the phone again in like two minutes?
- 36:41Keri Croft: Okay, okay.
- 36:42Keri Croft: Okay, okay, bye.
- 36:44SPEAKER_03: He's probably like, what in the fuck is going on?
- 36:48SPEAKER_03: This is gonna be iconic.
- 36:50SPEAKER_03: Like this this video is gonna be iconic too.
- 36:56SPEAKER_04: Can you hear that?
- 36:56SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 36:57SPEAKER_04: Okay, okay.
- 36:58SPEAKER_04: Then I can do the intro, like, Dad, don't kill me.
- 37:00SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 37:01SPEAKER_02: You can get any answers to you.
- 37:06SPEAKER_00: This is your word.
- 37:07SPEAKER_04: This is your daughter.
- 37:11SPEAKER_04: Uh, do you have five minutes?
- 37:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah, go ahead.
- 37:14SPEAKER_04: Okay, well, don't kill me, but I am on this show right now with uh this really cool woman named Carrie, and I was talking about you and talking about our relationship together.
- 37:27SPEAKER_04: And Carrie was like, Can we just call G-Ban for a second?
- 37:30SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 37:31Keri Croft: I was like, I have to know who this cool guy is that she keeps talking about.
- 37:34Keri Croft: She said you're her dad, but you're also her mentor.
- 37:38Keri Croft: You must have you've been doing something right.
- 37:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I well, I guess.
- 37:42Keri Croft: Well, here's what I want to know though, because I asked her this earlier.
- 37:45Keri Croft: So, like when she came to you and she's like, Hey, I'm gonna do this dating show, Love is Blind, and you're like, Well, you're gonna do basically do what you want anyway.
- 37:52Keri Croft: Like, the father's instinct, were you just like, were you were your spidey senses like on a 10, or were you just just trusting her so much, you're like, whatever, let's just let go and let God?
- 38:01SPEAKER_00: Um, I guess I would say that I um I I wasn't surprised.
- 38:07SPEAKER_00: And um, I know that Brie has never let grass grown under her feet, so she's always been adventurous and she's always come up on top.
- 38:18SPEAKER_00: So um my philosophy, and I think my conversation with Brianna was with uh it's her life to live, and I trust your judgment.
- 38:27SPEAKER_00: So um, and I just hope she makes good decisions.
- 38:31SPEAKER_03: See, I mean, I told you, I was like, I like this guy already.
- 38:35SPEAKER_04: I know.
- 38:36SPEAKER_04: Well great.
- 38:37SPEAKER_04: And I told her that data was like, honestly, my n neither of my parents were shocked by this because they trust me and they know that I live uh insane life already.
- 38:48SPEAKER_04: So it all just kind of made sense.
- 38:50SPEAKER_04: But um, yeah.
- 38:51SPEAKER_04: Did you meet Connor?
- 38:53SPEAKER_00: Yes, I did.
- 38:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 38:54SPEAKER_00: Were you were you impressed?
- 38:55SPEAKER_00: Uh yeah, he was a nice young man.
- 38:57SPEAKER_00: I mean, I you know, I I think I felt sorry for him coming over to meet the family and stuff, and all of a sudden he gets hit with uh uh you know a lot of questions from my sisters, and and so you know, I it it um I thought the first impression was a good impression, but at the end of the day is if my daughter thought that he was a good fit for her, then definitely we would have any of that.
- 39:20Keri Croft: Yeah.
- 39:21Keri Croft: So she said you're an entrepreneur.
- 39:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yes.
- 39:24SPEAKER_00: My son and I um my son actually has a business going and I'm I'm in sales, and uh so yeah, I I have a lot of ambition, and um so yeah, we we uh we're always on the go.
- 39:38Keri Croft: I love that.
- 39:39Keri Croft: Well, my show, I I have a lot of entrepreneurs um on my show.
- 39:42Keri Croft: It's not solely about business and entrepreneurship, but it's a it's one of the pillars.
- 39:47Keri Croft: Do you have any words of wisdom for the young, the young, fresh, ready-to-go entrepreneurs out there?
- 39:53SPEAKER_00: Um, I think you got to be able to accept rejection or get not or just get used to it because there's gonna be a lot of naysayers out there.
- 40:02SPEAKER_00: So when you have your business plan or your thought and your creative juices with a lot of momentum behind that, is you don't want to go to the people that are gonna embrace it and tell you all the wonderful things.
- 40:14SPEAKER_00: You also want to hear to the people that say, you know, like proceed with caution, or did you think about this?
- 40:19SPEAKER_00: Because those are those are the unexpected things that you don't know till sometimes it's too late in the game, right?
- 40:26SPEAKER_00: So um I always encourage people to talk to a lot of people that are might be in the same arena or other entrepreneurs to understand that it's just not about the shiny object that you're chasing and about the potential.
- 40:40SPEAKER_00: It's also about the the grind along the way, because that's not for everybody.
- 40:45SPEAKER_00: And um, that that means, like you said, you hear from everybody the motivational speakers, the amount of hours you have to put in, but you're doing it for one reason because you love it.
- 40:54SPEAKER_00: I mean, that's why you do it.
- 40:56SPEAKER_00: I mean, you get up every morning, you have two choices either lay in bed, continue to dream about your dream, or get out of bed and chase your dream.
- 41:03SPEAKER_00: And that percentage of people that get out of bed and actually chase their dream is a very small percentage of it.
- 41:09Keri Croft: Man, gee, man, I'm ready.
- 41:10Keri Croft: I'm like pretty much.
- 41:14Keri Croft: I'm like, get you in here, give this man a microphone more often.
- 41:18Keri Croft: Okay, last question.
- 41:19Keri Croft: What do you admire most about your girl?
- 41:22SPEAKER_00: Um, I would have the most thing I admire about Brianna is her determination that whatever life throws at her, she's just a ball of energy.
- 41:32SPEAKER_00: She's always she'll she may get redress for a day, a couple of days, but it doesn't set her back where she goes into hibernation.
- 41:41SPEAKER_00: She's always like, gotta dust myself off, pick myself up, let's get back after it, and then jump right back into it, jump back into the grind.
- 41:49SPEAKER_00: And that she's never quit, she's not a quitter.
- 41:52Keri Croft: I love that.
- 41:52Keri Croft: She probably got a lot of that from you.
- 41:55SPEAKER_00: I think I can think a good work ethic for any young individual is priceless because that's something that doesn't come natural.
- 42:04SPEAKER_00: And if you have a good work ethic, I think you could work your way through anything, whether it's the shortfalls in life or or even the the great things that happen.
- 42:12SPEAKER_00: But a good work ethic, nobody can take that away from you.
- 42:15Keri Croft: Amen to that, G-Man.
- 42:16Keri Croft: Yeah, I know.
- 42:18Keri Croft: Thank you so much for uh giving us five minutes of your precious time out there.
- 42:22Keri Croft: All right.
- 42:23Keri Croft: Hopefully, hopefully, our paths will cross in real time in real life.
- 42:26SPEAKER_04: Well, but he he's gonna hopefully come into town here in a little bit.
- 42:29SPEAKER_04: So maybe we gotta bring him through here.
- 42:31SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 42:31Keri Croft: I would love it.
- 42:32Keri Croft: Yeah, thank you, G-Man.
- 42:33SPEAKER_00: All right, have a great day.
- 42:35Keri Croft: All right, thanks, Dad.
- 42:36Keri Croft: Love you.
- 42:37Keri Croft: Bye.
- 42:37Keri Croft: Love you, G-Man.
- 42:40Keri Croft: He was so cute.
- 42:41Keri Croft: Oh my god, what my gosh, my I like teared up.
- 42:44Keri Croft: Isn't he the best?
- 42:45Keri Croft: Oh, he was so cute.
- 42:47SPEAKER_04: I like but that's why I'm just like, I have the best family and friends.
- 42:50SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna get emotional.
- 42:51SPEAKER_04: But like, you got a support system like that.
- 42:54SPEAKER_04: I'm like, I can do fucking anything.
- 42:58SPEAKER_04: I can leave corporate America.
- 43:00SPEAKER_04: I'm getting any time that I'm feeling like down or defeated, like I call my dad and he just like he just puts it into perspective, you know?
- 43:08SPEAKER_04: And it's just like just keep going one foot in front of the other, whether that's a breakup, the show edit, the this job situation.
- 43:15SPEAKER_04: But like I've lived in this world where I felt this unwavering support where I'm like, I can do this.
