- 0:10Speaker 1: Hey, what's going on? Everybody?
- 0:11Speaker 2: Welcome into another edition of the check Odaily. It's Andrew
- 0:15Speaker 2: de Checko here from inside the Birds dot Com. And
- 0:17Speaker 2: the Eagles drop a thriller in Dallas twenty four to
- 0:21Speaker 2: twenty one, and they now are eight and three on
- 0:25Speaker 2: the season, and there is a lot to unpack here.
- 0:28Speaker 2: So we're going to begin with just the over you
- 0:32Speaker 2: the overarching point here, and that is is that the
- 0:36Speaker 2: Eagles had opportunities and squandered them. They were bogged down
- 0:40Speaker 2: by penalties, by turnovers. The Eagles had fourteen penalties for
- 0:46Speaker 2: ninety six yards in this game, and they were unable
- 0:50Speaker 2: to put a resilient Dallas Cowboys team away, and they
- 0:54Speaker 2: had opportunities and they lose twenty four to twenty one.
- 0:59Speaker 2: To think about the fact that the Eagles had a
- 1:02Speaker 2: twenty one to seven lead with eleven to thirty five
- 1:05Speaker 2: remaining in the second quarter, and they carried that going
- 1:09Speaker 2: into the break, and to think that they were blanked
- 1:11Speaker 2: in the second half and it was plagued by no
- 1:15Speaker 2: faults of their own, with self inflicted woundst executional lapses,
- 1:20Speaker 2: and it was the Dallas Cowboys who instead rallied despite
- 1:24Speaker 2: whatever happened in the first half. They put that aside
- 1:26Speaker 2: and they put up seventeen unanswered points in the second half.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Eagles quarterback Jay when Hurst completed twenty seven to thirty
- 1:33Speaker 2: nine pass attempts for two hundred and eighty nine yards
- 1:35Speaker 2: and a touchdown, while adding another thirty three yards and
- 1:38Speaker 2: two touchdowns on the ground. Wide receiver AJ Brown led
- 1:42Speaker 2: the way in the receiving game, hauling in eight receptions
- 1:44Speaker 2: for one hundred and ten yards and a touchdown on
- 1:47Speaker 2: ten targets. For the Cowboys, Dak Prescott lit it up
- 1:54Speaker 2: in the second half, completing twenty two of thirty six
- 1:57Speaker 2: pass attempts in total for three hundred and fifty four
- 1:59Speaker 2: yards and two touchdowns.
- 2:01Speaker 1: He added nine yards and a touchdown on the ground.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Wide receiver George Pickens pulled in all nine pass targets
- 2:07Speaker 2: for one hundred and forty six yards and a touchdown,
- 2:10Speaker 2: while tight end Jake Ferguson, who had five for sixty
- 2:12Speaker 2: in this one, factor prominently late in the contest. Just
- 2:16Speaker 2: some housekeeping and active for the Eagles in this one.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Quarterback Sam Howell, cornerback Mac McWilliams, running back AJ Dillon,
- 2:23Speaker 2: tackle Lane Johnson, and defensive tackle Tye Robinson.
- 2:28Speaker 3: Hey, it's Jeff Mosher. And if you have a family

- 3:40Speaker 2: Opening offensive series for the Eagles, Jaywen Hurts goes five
- 3:43Speaker 2: of six for forty seven yards and the touchdown. That
- 3:46Speaker 2: drive covered fifty yards on seven plays. Thought the play
- 3:49Speaker 2: design on the touchdown, which was a sixteen yard Jaywen
- 3:52Speaker 2: Hurts pass over the middle to wide receiver AJ Brown,
- 3:56Speaker 2: was very well executed. Running Back Will Shipley cleared out
- 3:59Speaker 2: the flat to the left and it pulled the safety
- 4:01Speaker 2: in creating space for Brown to maneuver over the middle.
- 4:04Speaker 2: And Brown had three catches for thirty one yards on
- 4:07Speaker 2: the drive and it was good to see him get
- 4:10Speaker 2: going early and build some of that momentum. And that's
- 4:13Speaker 2: the impact that he can have on a game. We
- 4:15Speaker 2: all know it, we've all seen it. And I think
- 4:18Speaker 2: that that really encapsulated what he's all about and what
- 4:21Speaker 2: he means to the offense. And then through two drives,
- 4:25Speaker 2: aj had five He caught five of six targets for
- 4:28Speaker 2: sixty seven yards and the touchdown. And it's worth pointing
- 4:32Speaker 2: out that through those first two drives, every Eagles receiver
- 4:36Speaker 2: yielded snaps. I believe Xavier Gibson had a three yard reception,
- 4:41Speaker 2: and wide receiver Darius Cooper, the rookie free agent out
- 4:44Speaker 2: of Charlatan State, picked up two catches for seven yards.
- 4:48Speaker 2: His first quarter catch was his first NFL reception.
- 4:51Speaker 1: So cool to see that.
- 4:53Speaker 2: And there was I thought that there was a variety
- 4:56Speaker 2: from an offensive standpoint, even if some of the creative
- 4:58Speaker 2: designs didn't always manifest, and there are reasons for that
- 5:01Speaker 2: executional lapses such as that nifty eight yard completion to
- 5:06Speaker 2: Dallas Goddard to start the fourth quarter that was negated
- 5:09Speaker 2: by DeVante Smith offensive pass interference. I should also mention
- 5:13Speaker 2: that Davonte Smith made one of the game's biggest plays
- 5:17Speaker 2: where he swored over cornerback Kaylin Carson for the forty
- 5:20Speaker 2: one yard.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Deep shot down the right sideline.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Took good body control and play strength from Davonte, who
- 5:27Speaker 2: is one of the better contested catch receivers in the
- 5:30Speaker 2: NFL despite his slender frame. It never ceases to amaze
- 5:35Speaker 2: me what he's able to do out there on the field.
- 5:37Speaker 2: But with regards to the offense, it was you know,
- 5:41Speaker 2: it's been often discussed and the element that has been
- 5:44Speaker 2: largely absent has been the ground game. And Jalen Hursts
- 5:47Speaker 2: picked up thirty three yards on seven carries. His seven
- 5:51Speaker 2: yard touchdown run which was the egals second of the day.
- 5:54Speaker 2: I thought really was the equalizer, or it could have
- 5:59Speaker 2: been the equalizer, right because back in week one he
- 6:01Speaker 2: carried fourteen times for sixty two yards. But just base
- 6:05Speaker 2: off of that seven yard run, it exemplifies the threat
- 6:10Speaker 2: that he poses as a runner and you can clearly
- 6:12Speaker 2: see that the defense was confounded and they forgot to
- 6:15Speaker 2: account for Jalen Hurts in that area.
- 6:17Speaker 3: Hey, Philly fans, game day is stressful enough. Parking, traffic,
- 6:21Speaker 3: long lines, We've all been there, But when it comes
- 6:24Speaker 3: to your cannabis, Camden Apothecary makes it easy. This is
- 6:29Speaker 3: the dispensary for sports fans, just minutes outside of Philly,
- 6:33Speaker 3: with plenty of free parking. You'll be in and out fast,
- 6:36Speaker 3: no hassle, no waiting, and they don't just care about convenience.
- 6:40Speaker 3: Camden Apothecary is all about the guest experience. Their staff
- 6:44Speaker 3: makes sure you feel taken care of every time you
- 6:47Speaker 3: walk in. Plus they carry only the best quality cannabis
- 6:51Speaker 3: at the fairest prices, so whether you're stocking up for
- 6:55Speaker 3: the tailgate, the watch party, or celebrating a big win,
- 6:58Speaker 3: you know you're getting the good stuff without overpaying. They
- 7:02Speaker 3: even show love to the community with specials for fans, students,
- 7:07Speaker 3: service members, and healthcare pros. Canned in apothecary, top quality cannabis,
- 7:12Speaker 3: great prices, and an experience made for Philly fans twenty
- 7:15Speaker 3: one and up.
- 7:17Speaker 2: It's difficult to beat the Eagles playing even a perfect game,
- 7:20Speaker 2: but those self inflicted wounds made it near impossible. This
- 7:23Speaker 2: was a first half observation, but the Cowboys dug themselves
- 7:27Speaker 2: an early hole with the six first half penalties, the
- 7:29Speaker 2: fifteen yard roughing, the kicker that extended the Eagles second drive,
- 7:33Speaker 2: and a pair of turnovers. Cavante Turpin, the wide receiver
- 7:36Speaker 2: return special was fumbled on a second quarter first and ten,
- 7:39Speaker 2: and then Dak Prescott tossed an egregious interception to Eagles
- 7:43Speaker 2: safety Read Blanket Ship in the end zone on a
- 7:46Speaker 2: second five at the Eagles five, and that halted a
- 7:50Speaker 2: drive that at that point had accumulated sixty four yards
- 7:53Speaker 2: on ten plays. But that interception interception felt like a
- 7:59Speaker 2: turning point in the moment, but the momentum would shift
- 8:03Speaker 2: many times thereafter. The Cowboys did show a lot of
- 8:07Speaker 2: resilience in this game, rallying on both sides of the
- 8:09Speaker 2: ball and then finally taking advantage of a favorable opportunity
- 8:13Speaker 2: that presented itself with two minutes left, Defensive tackle osa
- 8:17Speaker 2: Odigi Zua drops Jalen Hurts for a thirteen yard loss
- 8:20Speaker 2: on a third and two. He can almost feel the
- 8:25Speaker 2: energy in the stadium sort of dissipate, and ultimately the
- 8:30Speaker 2: Cowboys were able to make good on that and put
- 8:33Speaker 2: the game away. But it didn't feel like either team
- 8:35Speaker 2: really wanted to win this game, you know. Speaking of momentum,
- 8:39Speaker 2: the Eagles had a chance for an interception with Prescott's
- 8:42Speaker 2: attempt over the middle in a tight window. It found
- 8:44Speaker 2: the hands of Zach Bonn, but the all Pro defender
- 8:48Speaker 2: was unable to corral it. And it's worth noting that
- 8:50Speaker 2: it was Bond who actually pounced on that turpin fumble.
- 8:53Speaker 2: So he's always around the football and he had a
- 8:56Speaker 2: good game. He was around the line of scrimmage quite
- 8:58Speaker 2: a bit, racking up a.
- 8:59Speaker 1: Ton of tackles.
- 9:00Speaker 2: But then on another occasion and a Kobe Dean interception
- 9:04Speaker 2: was negated for having too many men on the field,
- 9:07Speaker 2: and it did prove inconsequential because kicker Brandon Aubrey missed
- 9:11Speaker 2: a fifty one yard field goal Two plays later.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Dean, by the way, picked up his third sack of
- 9:15Speaker 1: the season.
- 9:16Speaker 2: He steamrolled running back Javonte Williams en route to Dak Prescott,
- 9:21Speaker 2: and last week it was Lions running back David Montgomery
- 9:24Speaker 2: whom Dean blew up.
- 9:26Speaker 1: The fourth year linebacker. I've said this time and time again.
- 9:29Speaker 2: He packs a punch, He plays with such a physical
- 9:32Speaker 2: demeanor on the field, and he's.
- 9:34Speaker 1: A force to be reckoned with.
- 9:35Speaker 2: The Cowboys entered Week twelve ranked twenty fourth in the
- 9:38Speaker 2: NFL in run defense, and as enticing as the matchup
- 9:42Speaker 2: appeared on paper, it wouldn't translate into much success for
- 9:46Speaker 2: the Eagles via the ground game. For a perspective, Saquon
- 9:49Speaker 2: Barkley managed just twenty two yards on ten carries. It's
- 9:52Speaker 2: hard to fath him, but in a game that figured
- 9:55Speaker 2: to favor both the Eagles in the run and pass game,
- 9:58Speaker 2: it was the passing game that answered the bell well
- 10:00Speaker 2: for the early part of the game, delivering early Haymakers.
- 10:04Speaker 2: But after the quick twenty one first half points, the
- 10:07Speaker 2: Eagles offense stalled coming out of the break, and then
- 10:09Speaker 2: they were blanked by the Cowboys, who rolled up seventeen
- 10:13Speaker 2: unanswered points. The early lead skewed Dallas's offensive approach, but
- 10:18Speaker 2: the Eagles provided swarming run support, mostly bottling up running
- 10:22Speaker 2: back to Vonte Williams to the tune of eighty seven
- 10:24Speaker 2: yards on twenty carries four point four yards on average.
- 10:28Speaker 2: But in a game that the Cowboys were unveiling a
- 10:30Speaker 2: healthy and high quality offensive line, it was the Eagles
- 10:33Speaker 2: defensive line that in my estimation, controlled the line of scrimmage. Namely,
- 10:37Speaker 2: it was defensive tackles Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, and Moro
- 10:41Speaker 2: Ojomo who generated consistent interior penetration. Carter in particular, was
- 10:46Speaker 2: a menace throughout this game, notable in terms of how
- 10:51Speaker 2: they chose to deploy their cornerbacks. But when Eagles cornerback
- 10:54Speaker 2: with Dorry Jackson exited early with a head injury, the
- 10:57Speaker 2: Eagles opted to deploy versatile defense to back Cooper Degen
- 11:01Speaker 2: at right outside corner when they when they were in
- 11:03Speaker 2: nickel and then bringing on veteran Michael Carter, the second
- 11:07Speaker 2: to man the inside. Prescott did test Cooper Degene, who
- 11:11Speaker 2: was covering wide receiver CD Lamb down the right sideline
- 11:14Speaker 2: and he surrendered a forty eight yard reception that fueled
- 11:17Speaker 2: the Cowboys second scoring drive. But there was a lot
- 11:20Speaker 2: of hand fighting on this play from both sides, But
- 11:23Speaker 2: it was Cooper dejen who was called for DPI, which
- 11:27Speaker 2: Dallas obviously declined, but it looked more from my perspective
- 11:32Speaker 2: that it was offensive pass interference, but I digress. Both
- 11:37Speaker 2: kickers in this game pushed kicks of fifty plus. Brandon Aubrey,
- 11:41Speaker 2: who connected earlier this season from sixty four yards out,
- 11:45Speaker 2: pushed his fifty one yard attempt wide left. Jake Elliott,
- 11:48Speaker 2: on his fifty six yard attempt early in the fourth quarter,
- 11:50Speaker 2: pushed his wide right, giving the resurgent Dallas offense optimal
- 11:55Speaker 2: field position. Dak Prescott orchestrated a three play fifty four
- 11:59Speaker 2: yard drive to not the game at twenty one. But
- 12:01Speaker 2: the highlight on that drive and possibly the game, was
- 12:04Speaker 2: an acrobatic forty three yard reception from wide receiver George Pickens,
- 12:08Speaker 2: who skied above Dejene and a converging Sydney Brown to
- 12:12Speaker 2: reel it in. That takes impressive body control and hand
- 12:16Speaker 2: strength to be able to reel that pass in.
- 12:18Speaker 1: There aren't many receivers in the NFL who can do that.
- 12:21Speaker 2: And George Pickens, it's just having an amazing season. One
- 12:24Speaker 2: hundred and forty six yards and a touchdown in this one,
- 12:27Speaker 2: and he was just.
- 12:29Speaker 1: No match for anyone.
- 12:32Speaker 2: I mean, he was just a problem for the Eagles secondary,
- 12:35Speaker 2: and to be fair, he's a problem for every secondary
- 12:38Speaker 2: that he's gone against. He entered this game second in
- 12:40Speaker 2: the NFL and receiving yards, and he's just an imposing
- 12:44Speaker 2: presence on the boundary. The Eagle struggle with ball security
- 12:47Speaker 2: late in this one, with Cowboys linebacker Sam Williams peanut
- 12:50Speaker 2: punching the ball loose from Saquon following a catch and run.
- 12:54Speaker 1: It's hard to.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Fart to fault Barkley on that play with some you know,
- 12:59Speaker 2: there was just so many defenders and closing but it
- 13:02Speaker 2: was a sound football play by Sam Williams. I mean,
- 13:06Speaker 2: there wasn't a lot that Saquon could have done, but
- 13:09Speaker 2: they had the right angle, they pounced on it, and
- 13:11Speaker 2: you have to give them credit for making the play.
- 13:14Speaker 2: But then the other occurrence was during a punt return
- 13:17Speaker 2: later with Xavier Gibson fielding a punt inside the five
- 13:20Speaker 2: and then absorbing a shot from rookie dB Elijah Clark
- 13:23Speaker 2: who went to Rutgers that jarred the ball loose. The
- 13:26Speaker 2: Cowboys recovered at the Eagles eight yard line. But you
- 13:29Speaker 2: have to give credit to Vic Fangio's defense because when
- 13:33Speaker 2: it mattered in that moment, they kept them out of
- 13:35Speaker 2: the end zone over a four down sequence. I know
- 13:38Speaker 2: Cedee Lamb dropped a touchdown, He's dropped a lot of
- 13:41Speaker 2: passes this season in the two matchups against the Eagles,
- 13:44Speaker 2: but you got to give them credit for holding tight
- 13:47Speaker 2: in you know, in a confined space like that in
- 13:50Speaker 2: a critical moment.
- 13:51Speaker 3: Hey, I still like a good night out, but I'm
- 13:53Speaker 3: not always in the mood to drink. And that's why

- 15:20Speaker 2: I have to give punter braden Man a shout out
- 15:23Speaker 2: here because He was just outstanding on Sunday, booming five
- 15:27Speaker 2: punts for two hundred and fifty yards and dropping three
- 15:29Speaker 2: inside the twenty. Man's replacement. Man's placement, I should say,
- 15:34Speaker 2: and excellent downfield coverage render the always dangerous Cavante Turpin
- 15:39Speaker 2: a non entity. In fact, he yielded just one return,
- 15:43Speaker 2: one return for one yard, and man is just he's
- 15:47Speaker 2: just been exceptional since he arrived to the Eagles back
- 15:50Speaker 2: in twenty twenty three. And he's indisputably and a weapon
- 15:56Speaker 2: when he's out there because he's able to give the
- 15:58Speaker 2: coverage chance to make play on the ball. He pinned
- 16:01Speaker 2: three of his kicks inside the twenty. I just think
- 16:04Speaker 2: his ball placement is outstanding, and he's playing. He's performing
- 16:08Speaker 2: at an all pro level, and I hope that he
- 16:10Speaker 2: garners that consideration from a coverage perspective. Rookie linebacker Smile
- 16:17Speaker 2: Monden Junior had an active outing. He was flying around
- 16:20Speaker 2: and swarming returners for multiple stops.
- 16:22Speaker 1: He's been kind of quiet in that area.
- 16:24Speaker 2: He's been part of the special teams group all season,
- 16:27Speaker 2: but in this game he really.
- 16:28Speaker 1: Flashed and that was great to see.
- 16:31Speaker 2: I mentioned the Eagles were charged with fourteen penalties for
- 16:34Speaker 2: ninety six yards. I mean, that's not going to win
- 16:37Speaker 2: you many games in the NFL, needless to say. And
- 16:40Speaker 2: for a team that does prioritize details, fundamentals and mastering
- 16:44Speaker 2: the things that require no talent, they got away from that,
- 16:48Speaker 2: and they have gotten away from that a lot of
- 16:49Speaker 2: times this season, far too often from Eagles teams. From
- 16:55Speaker 2: a Nick Siriani led team, you don't often see that.
- 16:59Speaker 2: But it's hard to explain the offensive inefficiency. They went
- 17:04Speaker 2: radio silent in the second half. They weren't able to
- 17:07Speaker 2: generate much. I thought there were times where the protection
- 17:10Speaker 2: upfront in terms of pass protection was faulty. They couldn't
- 17:14Speaker 2: get anything going in the ground game, which is concerning.
- 17:18Speaker 2: And it's sort of confounding in the sense that they
- 17:22Speaker 2: looked efficient, they look confident, they look creative in the
- 17:25Speaker 2: first half, and then they were almost unrecognizable in the
- 17:30Speaker 2: second half. And I never like to make too many strong,
- 17:33Speaker 2: you know, proclamations off of the game. I have to
- 17:36Speaker 2: go back and watch it at least two or three
- 17:38Speaker 2: times afterwards to get a better assessment of it. But
- 17:41Speaker 2: it was really confounding, and initially, you know, I think
- 17:46Speaker 2: it has a lot to do with executional lapses, penalties,
- 17:49Speaker 2: and just a lot of errors and gaps that you
- 17:53Speaker 2: don't typically see from the Eagles because they prioritize that.
- 17:57Speaker 1: And I think the turnovers really underscored just.
- 18:00Speaker 2: How wonky this game was because the Eagles do not
- 18:04Speaker 2: turn the football over and it happened on multiple occasions
- 18:07Speaker 2: in this one, and that just can't happen. I'm curious
- 18:10Speaker 2: to hear what Nick Sirianni has to say and what
- 18:12Speaker 2: their approach will be this week, and as they have
- 18:16Speaker 2: a short week and they have to get back after
- 18:18Speaker 2: it because the Chicago Bears are going to link in
- 18:23Speaker 2: Financial Field Friday for the Black Friday Game, So I'll
- 18:25Speaker 2: have to wait and see. A couple injuries in this game.
- 18:28Speaker 2: One that's very concerning in my view. Cornerback of Dori
- 18:32Speaker 2: Jackson was evaluated for a head injury.
- 18:34Speaker 1: He did not come back into the.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Game, and he suffered a concussion in the Vikings game
- 18:41Speaker 2: missed the Giants game, so that's something that I'll be
- 18:43Speaker 2: keeping an eye on. And looked like safety well Red
- 18:46Speaker 2: Blanket Ship left the game with a thigh injury and
- 18:49Speaker 2: then later in the game, rookie safety Drew mccuba sustained
- 18:54Speaker 2: an injury, and we're gonna have to wait and find
- 18:56Speaker 2: out the extent of all of those injuries, but just
- 19:00Speaker 2: something to note as this week starts to progress. But
- 19:04Speaker 2: the Eagles were really banged up in the secondary there
- 19:07Speaker 2: late in the game, and Michael Carter got a lot
- 19:10Speaker 2: of reps in that game, and I thought he did
- 19:12Speaker 2: some nice things. And again this is all upon first watch.
- 19:15Speaker 2: There's still a lot to be determined when I go
- 19:18Speaker 2: back and reassess the film, but those are just my
- 19:21Speaker 2: initial takeaways, you know, hot off the press right after
- 19:24Speaker 2: the game as.
- 19:24Speaker 1: The Eagles lose twenty four to twenty one in a.
- 19:27Speaker 2: Game that looked to be on its way to being
- 19:30Speaker 2: a blowout in the first half, but that's why they
- 19:33Speaker 2: have to play four quarters. So a lot to unpack
- 19:36Speaker 2: from this one, and I'm sure I'll have plenty more
- 19:40Speaker 2: this week on Inside the Birds dot Com and on
- 19:42Speaker 2: the Checko Daily podcast, But for now, that's going to
- 19:45Speaker 2: do it for this edition of The Checko Daily. I
- 19:47Speaker 2: am Andrew to check O and I'll catch you on
- 19:49Speaker 2: the next one.
