- 0:03SPEAKER_00: Hello everyone, welcome back to the Astrology for Beginners podcast.
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: I'm your host, Stephanie Kate Boucher, and I am so happy to have you here.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: This is the podcast for you if you have ever wanted to learn how to read a natal
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: chart or were kind of interested in astrology and wished that you understood more
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: about it but didn't know where to begin or it seemed too complicated and you didn't
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: have the time or the resources to invest in learning it.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: My goal is to break things down for you episode by episode in the most simplified
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: way that I can so that you can learn to speak the language of the stars.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: Thank you for learning astrology with me.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: Welcome, my friends.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: We are back with our next episode to continue talking about the five major aspects
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: in astrology and how to interpret the aspects that are in your natal chart.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: The aspects in your natal chart,
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: of course,
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: are represented by all of those colorful,
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: sometimes messy looking little lines running through the middle of your chart.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: If you're looking at your chart right now, some of those lines are probably red.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: Some of them are probably blue.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: Some of them are thick and bold.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: Some of them are thinner.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: And possibly, probably, they are overlapping and making all kinds of weird geometric looking designs.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: So just in case you haven't listened to the last episode,
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: let's talk for just a moment about what an aspect is from an astrological perspective.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: An aspect is the relationship that two planets have with each other based on their
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: position in the sky at a certain moment.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: All of the planets and celestial bodies in the sky are constantly moving hour by hour, day by day.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: So the aspects between individual planets are constantly changing.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: But the aspects in your natal chart show you exactly where the planets were and the
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: relationship they were having with one another at the moment you were born.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: And that energy is with you for life.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: Those energies are a big, big part of what makes you, you.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: So on the day that you were born,
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: the whole world was experiencing the energy of the planetary aspects that were
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: currently taking place,
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: just like we all experience the energy of the transits that are happening right now.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: You may have been hearing lately,
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: if you follow transits,
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: for example,
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: about the great Uranus-Jupiter conjunction that we just had,
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: or actually that we're still having because its influence is not really done yet,
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: at least not at the time of this recording.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: But we all got to experience that.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: Everyone who is on the planet right now got to,
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: or still will,
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: experience some variation of that Uranus conjunct Jupiter energy,
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: whether you were consciously aware of it or not.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: But for a baby who might have been born during this conjunction,
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: they are going to have that energy in their chart for life because that's their
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: natal astrology.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: It's not just a passing transit for them.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: So when all of the astrologers were telling everyone that this transit,
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: that this conjunction was going to bring the potential for surprise blessings or
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: new opportunities for expansion in some area of their life,
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: or that there would simply be an expansion of Uranus types of themes in one's life,
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: like increasing your independence or breaking with convention,
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: because Jupiter sometimes just magnifies whatever it touches.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: So magnifying the need for independence or magnifying the need to do something very
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: differently than you have been.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: that wouldn't be just a temporary experience for a baby born around the time of that conjunction.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: It would be a major indicator of the types of life experiences that they are going
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: to have,
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: or even a major part of their personality.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: That baby might grow into someone who has,
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: for life,
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: a need to do something unconventionally,
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: or they might enjoy or just kind of be sort of eccentric or a unique person,
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: or they may see the world in a different way than many other people do.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: They might also have a lot of surprise developments that happen to them all throughout their life.
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: These are just some examples.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: So the aspects that were taking place when you were born reveal important
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: information about the types of experiences that you're likely to have,
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: the talents and shortcomings that you may have,
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: as well as the particular types of lessons that you are here to learn and grow from.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: Now,
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: in the last episode,
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: we talked about conjunctions,
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: which refers to two or more planets that are within a few degrees of each other in
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: your natal chart or just in the sky.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: And we talked about how they signify a blending of energy or a fusing of two
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: different things together and
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: in order to create something entirely new.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: When they're in a conjunction,
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: the planets involved in that conjunction don't function all on their own anymore.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: They are creating a new and unique thing all together.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: It's kind of like how if you take something pineapple flavored and something else
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: that's coconut flavored and mix them together,
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: you now have a pina colada.
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: It's not pineapple flavored.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: It's not coconut flavored.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: You've just made up a new flavor.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: A Uranus-Jupiter conjunction,
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: similarly,
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: isn't just Uranus energy doing its Uranus thing and Jupiter doing its Jupiter thing.
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: It's a new and unique thing.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: It's a blending of the two energies, and they are creating a new flavor together.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: Now,
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: one thing I didn't say last week that I wanted to comment on before we move on to
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: today's topic is something interesting that happens when you have a personal planet
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: like a luminary or Mercury,
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: Venus or Mars.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: Or an angle, angles count too, conjunct with one of the outer planets, like Uranus, Neptune, or Pluto.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: You'll recall from our episode on outer planets that the outer planets are most
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: known for having a generational impact.
- 7:08SPEAKER_00: and for providing a flavor to different generations of people by setting up the
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: cultural influences and societal conditions that are relevant to that generation.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: So given that these planets have that generational societal influence,
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: One of the things that can happen when you have a personal planet or angle conjunct
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: with one of these outer planets is that you're quite a bit more tuned in than most
- 7:36SPEAKER_00: people are to the issues of your generation and the challenges that you all are
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: trying to take on and look at.
- 7:45SPEAKER_00: And you can become kind of a missionary, so to speak, for the progress in that area.
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: So if it were Pluto we were talking about, Pluto is about transformation.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: So you might be really tuned in and tapped in to all of the societal and cultural
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: transformations taking place.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: And there are so many these days, right?
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: The world is changing very, very rapidly.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: But you'd be aware of all of these changes,
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: you'd notice them all around you,
- 8:16SPEAKER_00: and you'd be thinking about them a lot,
- 8:19SPEAKER_00: and you'd be interested in them,
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: and you might even become someone who is here in part to create those transformations,
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: or at least to help push them forward in some way.
- 8:33SPEAKER_00: That could be out in the wider population somehow,
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: or just maybe in your own individual circles or communities.
- 8:41SPEAKER_00: On the other hand,
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: if it were Uranus we were talking about,
- 8:44SPEAKER_00: Uranus being about breaking with convention and bucking tradition,
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: then you might be someone who is more in tuned with what the social conventions of
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: the past and present are,
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: and maybe the ways they aren't working all that well.
- 8:58SPEAKER_00: And you'd probably not only buck them yourself,
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: but you'd be someone who could have an influence over other people in such a way
- 9:06SPEAKER_00: that maybe you're encouraging them to break with conventional thinking too.
- 9:11SPEAKER_00: somehow, some way.
- 9:13SPEAKER_00: Okay, so that's just a little something I wanted to add onto our discussion about conjunctions.
- 9:19SPEAKER_00: But we're not here today to talk about conjunctions.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: Today we are going to be talking about trines and sextiles.
- 9:28SPEAKER_00: Out of the five major aspects,
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: trines and sextiles are considered to be the friendliest and the easiest to work with.
- 9:37SPEAKER_00: Trines and sextiles are represented in your natal chart or in any transit chart or
- 9:43SPEAKER_00: any kind of chart by the lines that are blue in most birth chart calculators.
- 9:49SPEAKER_00: The longer blue lines that you see in a chart are the trines and the shorter blue lines are the sextiles.
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: And that's because a trine is formed when two planets are around 120 degrees or four signs apart.
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: And a sextile occurs when two planets are around 60 degrees or two signs apart.
- 10:16SPEAKER_00: And by the way,
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: not everyone is going to have all five of the major aspects present in their natal chart.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: You might have some and not others.
- 10:28SPEAKER_00: I will also put a link to a sample chart in the show notes,
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: and I will use that to point out the difference between the two aspects,
- 10:37SPEAKER_00: the trines and the sextiles,
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: in order to help you better identify them.
- 10:41SPEAKER_00: Before we dive into the meaning of trines and sextiles,
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: I'm going to remind you quickly of the neighborhood analogy that I talked about in
- 10:50SPEAKER_00: last week's episode.
- 10:53SPEAKER_00: If you listened to that one,
- 10:54SPEAKER_00: you might recall that I asked you to imagine that you were living in a neighborhood.
- 11:00SPEAKER_00: And I talked about all of the different types of relationships that you may have
- 11:05SPEAKER_00: with different neighbors in the neighborhood.
- 11:08SPEAKER_00: Like maybe you had a next door neighbor that you were reasonably friendly with,
- 11:13SPEAKER_00: even though you don't talk all the time.
- 11:16SPEAKER_00: And then maybe there is another person who lives directly across from you who is really challenging.
- 11:23SPEAKER_00: You never seem to have the same perspective or opinions on anything,
- 11:27SPEAKER_00: even though you know you both have good intentions and you're both trying to get along.
- 11:33SPEAKER_00: So this one,
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: this neighbor,
- 11:35SPEAKER_00: makes you flex your emotional intelligence a bit in order to try and get along.
- 11:41SPEAKER_00: Then there might be that other neighbor that you just really don't get along with
- 11:45SPEAKER_00: and you're completely getting in each other's way all the time.
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: Everything they do irritates you to no end and you probably irritate them too.
- 11:53SPEAKER_00: And it just makes life feel a lot more difficult.
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: And then there are the people around you who you just don't talk to all that much.
- 12:00SPEAKER_00: They're not causing you any problems.
- 12:02SPEAKER_00: You just never see them or engage with them in any meaningful way.
- 12:06SPEAKER_00: I also said there could be someone on your street who you were very good friends with.
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: Like, they're a really, really good friend of yours.
- 12:15SPEAKER_00: You get along famously, and you don't even have to try to have a good time when you're together.
- 12:21SPEAKER_00: It's just seamless and easy.
- 12:24SPEAKER_00: You help each other out all the time.
- 12:26SPEAKER_00: You do each other favors.
- 12:27SPEAKER_00: You sit on the porch together on Saturday afternoons,
- 12:31SPEAKER_00: sipping lemonade and talking late into the night,
- 12:33SPEAKER_00: right?
- 12:37SPEAKER_00: There might be that other friend who you're not quite as close with as the best friend.
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: Maybe you're not spending every moment together and chatting late into the night every weekend.
- 12:47SPEAKER_00: You're not quite as close as you are with the other one, and things aren't quite as effortless.
- 12:53SPEAKER_00: But they're still your friend, and you do invite them to all your parties.
- 12:57SPEAKER_00: And if you need to borrow a power tool for your next DIY project, that's your person.
- 13:02SPEAKER_00: You're going to ask them for theirs, and they will gladly give it to you.
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: This neighborhood, as I've described it here, is kind of like the planets in your natal chart.
- 13:13SPEAKER_00: And each planetary body is like one of these people,
- 13:17SPEAKER_00: and there are all these different relationships happening between them that are
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: determined by geometry.
- 13:23SPEAKER_00: Trines and sextiles are like these last two people.
- 13:27SPEAKER_00: A trine is the effortless bestie that you tell everything to and spend all your
- 13:33SPEAKER_00: time with,
- 13:34SPEAKER_00: and the sextile is the other,
- 13:36SPEAKER_00: slightly less connected friend who is still really fun,
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: likable,
- 13:41SPEAKER_00: and always ready to help you out when you need it.
- 13:44SPEAKER_00: And you suspect that if you wanted to put a little bit more effort into developing
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: this relationship,
- 13:51SPEAKER_00: that they could end up as one of your besties too.
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: Let's talk about each of them in more depth.
- 13:57SPEAKER_00: We'll go with trines first, since they are the stronger of two aspects.
- 14:01SPEAKER_00: Now,
- 14:01SPEAKER_00: as I said at the beginning,
- 14:03SPEAKER_00: a trine occurs when two planets or angles or nodes or anything in your chart are
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: 120 degrees apart or something pretty close to that,
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: give or take about five to 10 degrees in either direction.
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: If the sun and the moon are involved, I'd go with the upper end of that range.
- 14:22SPEAKER_00: If you're talking about the outer planets, most people use a smaller orb because they move so slowly.
- 14:28SPEAKER_00: So maybe a three to five degree orbit most for outer planets.
- 14:32SPEAKER_00: Being 120 degrees apart is also going to mean in most cases that
- 14:39SPEAKER_00: that they are four signs apart and in the same element.
- 14:44SPEAKER_00: So all the water signs are in trines with one another.
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces, all four trines with one another.
- 14:53SPEAKER_00: Each of the earth signs form trines with one another,
- 14:56SPEAKER_00: each of the fire signs,
- 14:58SPEAKER_00: each of the air signs,
- 14:59SPEAKER_00: etc.
- 15:00SPEAKER_00: So, for example, if you have a planet around, say, 12 degrees of cancer and another planet around...
- 15:09SPEAKER_00: 12 degrees of Scorpio,
- 15:11SPEAKER_00: those two planets are 120 degrees apart,
- 15:15SPEAKER_00: four signs apart,
- 15:17SPEAKER_00: and both in water signs.
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: So they understand each other.
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: They see the world in a very similar way, and they would be forming a trine.
- 15:25SPEAKER_00: Again, if you have a trine in your chart, you'll see a long blue line connecting the two planets.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: At least it's blue in most calculators.
- 15:35SPEAKER_00: A trine in astrology is basically a gift that you've come into this life with.
- 15:42SPEAKER_00: It represents an inborn talent or a skill or an attribute that you have that is so
- 15:50SPEAKER_00: enmeshed in your personality that you're just using it all the time without even
- 15:55SPEAKER_00: really having to think about it.
- 15:57SPEAKER_00: It's just what you do.
- 15:59SPEAKER_00: It's how you operate.
- 16:01SPEAKER_00: This is a highly harmonious aspect of
- 16:04SPEAKER_00: that allows the two planets involved to communicate with each other seamlessly and effortlessly.
- 16:11SPEAKER_00: And because the energy can flow back and forth so easily,
- 16:16SPEAKER_00: so harmoniously,
- 16:17SPEAKER_00: the planets are able to share the very best of themselves,
- 16:21SPEAKER_00: which is to say their best attributes with one another.
- 16:25SPEAKER_00: I've talked a lot about every planet having their lighter,
- 16:30SPEAKER_00: more positive side,
- 16:32SPEAKER_00: as well as their shadow side.
- 16:34SPEAKER_00: With trines, it's such a positive, easy connection.
- 16:39SPEAKER_00: There's so much harmony there that the shadow sides of each planet don't really
- 16:44SPEAKER_00: come up that much when those two planets are working together.
- 16:49SPEAKER_00: those planets really do get to use the positive parts of themselves when they're
- 16:54SPEAKER_00: dealing with one another.
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: So,
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: for example,
- 16:58SPEAKER_00: someone could have the planet Mercury in a trine with Neptune,
- 17:03SPEAKER_00: Mercury being the planet of thinking and communication,
- 17:06SPEAKER_00: and Neptune being about imagination and creativity.
- 17:10SPEAKER_00: So this aspect, a trine between these two planets,
- 17:15SPEAKER_00: is going to facilitate really imaginative thinking,
- 17:19SPEAKER_00: creative thinking,
- 17:20SPEAKER_00: maybe also spiritual thinking,
- 17:23SPEAKER_00: because Neptune can also be about spirituality and compassion too.
- 17:28SPEAKER_00: And there's possibly also a strong ability to communicate or articulate those
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: creative ideas and really bring them to life and share them with other people.
- 17:38SPEAKER_00: This aspect would be about creative self-expression because there's a direct
- 17:44SPEAKER_00: pipeline between a person's mind and cognitive abilities and their imagination and
- 17:51SPEAKER_00: creative ability.
- 17:52SPEAKER_00: And that pipeline is flowing back and forth, back and forth all the time.
- 17:58SPEAKER_00: These planets are constantly talking to one another.
- 18:02SPEAKER_00: And this just becomes a key feature of how this person's mind works.
- 18:07SPEAKER_00: Now we all know that Neptune can have more challenging aspects associated with it too.
- 18:13SPEAKER_00: Neptune can be about imagination and spirituality and compassion,
- 18:17SPEAKER_00: but it can also create confusion or fuzzy thinking.
- 18:22SPEAKER_00: But you don't get as much of those negative aspects in a trine like the way you
- 18:27SPEAKER_00: would with other Neptune aspects like a square or an opposition.
- 18:32SPEAKER_00: or a conjunction for that matter.
- 18:34SPEAKER_00: Let's use that one.
- 18:35SPEAKER_00: Let's compare that one actually, because we just talked about conjunctions.
- 18:40SPEAKER_00: With a Mercury-Neptune conjunction, you're going to have a blending of these two planetary energies.
- 18:47SPEAKER_00: They are fused together and kind of inseparable.
- 18:52SPEAKER_00: So yes,
- 18:53SPEAKER_00: you're going to get the big imagination and the creative thinking and the creative self-expression.
- 18:58SPEAKER_00: You absolutely will.
- 19:00SPEAKER_00: But because it's a total fusion,
- 19:02SPEAKER_00: you're getting most of the challenging aspects of each planet blended in too.
- 19:07SPEAKER_00: So along with the imaginative thinking,
- 19:09SPEAKER_00: there may also be times when Neptune clouds Mercury's logic and sense of good judgment.
- 19:16SPEAKER_00: Or
- 19:16SPEAKER_00: The person's communication style could come across as confusing or unclear at times,
- 19:24SPEAKER_00: or they could have a propensity towards seeing everything through rose-colored
- 19:29SPEAKER_00: glasses and fall victim to highly unrealistic thinking.
- 19:33SPEAKER_00: Or maybe they can't stop daydreaming and so it's hard to stay focused and they have
- 19:38SPEAKER_00: to be careful of that pattern.
- 19:40SPEAKER_00: So you get the gifts with the challenges often in equal measure here.
- 19:45SPEAKER_00: The remedy for this one,
- 19:46SPEAKER_00: by the way,
- 19:47SPEAKER_00: I'll just toss this in here,
- 19:48SPEAKER_00: is often to make sure that Neptune has an outlet for its creativity.
- 19:54SPEAKER_00: That creative energy, that imagination needs to be channeled into something worthwhile.
- 20:00SPEAKER_00: And it needs to be expressed, especially in aspect with Mercury.
- 20:04SPEAKER_00: It needs a creative project.
- 20:06SPEAKER_00: It needs some imaginative or spiritual work to do.
- 20:10SPEAKER_00: It needs to be of service or it needs a hobby.
- 20:14SPEAKER_00: It has to be channeled and coalesced into something so that it has a purpose.
- 20:19SPEAKER_00: And it has a container to live in.
- 20:22SPEAKER_00: And it's not just running amok, clouding up all your thinking.
- 20:25SPEAKER_00: And that's true for all aspects, both in your needle chart and with transits.
- 20:30SPEAKER_00: If we know about them and what they do and what they are for,
- 20:34SPEAKER_00: we can consciously channel them into the appropriate directions and give them a
- 20:39SPEAKER_00: container in which to do their thing constructively.
- 20:42SPEAKER_00: Because it's when they don't have that, that we can sink into the more negative side of that energy.
- 20:48SPEAKER_00: And I'm getting off topic just a bit,
- 20:50SPEAKER_00: but all of that was to say that the conjunction and other hard aspects,
- 20:56SPEAKER_00: you get the good along with the bad,
- 20:58SPEAKER_00: or sometimes with the other hard aspects,
- 21:00SPEAKER_00: sometimes you get even more of the challenges than the other things.
- 21:04SPEAKER_00: But trines,
- 21:06SPEAKER_00: trines are so beloved by people because the planetary relationship isn't
- 21:11SPEAKER_00: challenging and you simply don't get that shadow side showing up that much.
- 21:16SPEAKER_00: It's not to say that you never ever do, but it's certainly a lot easier.
- 21:21SPEAKER_00: Now, as good as all this sounds, the trine isn't perfect.
- 21:25SPEAKER_00: There is one potential downfall with trines because nothing in life is ever perfect, right?
- 21:32SPEAKER_00: The downfall with trines is that they're almost too easy.
- 21:37SPEAKER_00: And I'll explain what I mean by that.
- 21:40SPEAKER_00: The energy that gets communicated with planets that are in trines with one another
- 21:46SPEAKER_00: is so effortless and so continuous.
- 21:51SPEAKER_00: and constant that the person living with that trine might not even recognize that
- 21:57SPEAKER_00: that energy is there at all,
- 21:59SPEAKER_00: and they might overlook their potential in this area completely.
- 22:03SPEAKER_00: So let's go back to our Mercury-Neptune example.
- 22:07SPEAKER_00: I actually know someone with this aspect,
- 22:10SPEAKER_00: and as one would expect,
- 22:12SPEAKER_00: this person is an extremely imaginative person.
- 22:16SPEAKER_00: They used to play make-believe every day growing up.
- 22:19SPEAKER_00: They used to write stories all the time as a little kid,
- 22:23SPEAKER_00: and when they were bored,
- 22:24SPEAKER_00: they would just simply make up stories in their head to pass the time.
- 22:29SPEAKER_00: And they would create entire worlds of fantasy, like, you know, J.K.
- 22:33SPEAKER_00: Rowling type of stuff or J.R.R.
- 22:35SPEAKER_00: Tolkien types of fantasy worlds, right?
- 22:38SPEAKER_00: Like, with all this detail.
- 22:40SPEAKER_00: But this person didn't do anything with that.
- 22:43SPEAKER_00: The tendency to do it never stopped as they got older.
- 22:47SPEAKER_00: But they didn't become a writer or an actor or anything like that because they
- 22:50SPEAKER_00: never actually saw or could see that they were talented in this area.
- 22:56SPEAKER_00: It was so natural for them to have all of these ideas all the time that they just
- 23:03SPEAKER_00: assumed that doing this was a natural part of everyday life,
- 23:07SPEAKER_00: that everyone's mind must work this way.
- 23:10SPEAKER_00: Because it's not hard to think this way.
- 23:12SPEAKER_00: It wasn't for them, at least, right?
- 23:14SPEAKER_00: It's not hard to think this way from their perspective.
- 23:16SPEAKER_00: It's very easy.
- 23:18SPEAKER_00: And it's the most natural thing one could possibly do.
- 23:21SPEAKER_00: So they just assumed that this is what every human being must be doing all the time.
- 23:27SPEAKER_00: And they weren't anything special.
- 23:28SPEAKER_00: They were just normal.
- 23:29SPEAKER_00: They were just thinking normal thoughts.
- 23:32SPEAKER_00: They were just daydreaming.
- 23:33SPEAKER_00: And it wasn't until somewhere in adulthood that
- 23:38SPEAKER_00: that they eventually had had enough conversations with other people to begin
- 23:43SPEAKER_00: realizing that not everyone did this.
- 23:47SPEAKER_00: Not everyone's mind worked in this way.
- 23:49SPEAKER_00: Not everyone had the ability to come up with fantastical stories on a dime, right?
- 23:55SPEAKER_00: But by this time, they were deeply into a completely different career path.
- 24:00SPEAKER_00: And who knows?
- 24:02SPEAKER_00: Maybe they'll pursue it later in life or something.
- 24:04SPEAKER_00: One never knows.
- 24:05SPEAKER_00: But early on,
- 24:06SPEAKER_00: They missed it because it seemed too natural and it came too naturally for them to notice.
- 24:12SPEAKER_00: And that, friends, is where sextiles are different than trines.
- 24:17SPEAKER_00: Sextiles are actually quite a lot like trines.
- 24:21SPEAKER_00: The energies of trines and sextiles function in a very similar way.
- 24:26SPEAKER_00: They are both considered harmonious.
- 24:28SPEAKER_00: They both facilitate easy and friendly communication between the planets involved.
- 24:33SPEAKER_00: But sextiles aren't quite as strong.
- 24:37SPEAKER_00: They are a little bit less potent than trines.
- 24:41SPEAKER_00: They're still great to have, just not as noticeable and kind of in your face all the time.
- 24:47SPEAKER_00: Rather than simply being completely and totally intrinsic to who you are,
- 24:53SPEAKER_00: like a trine is,
- 24:54SPEAKER_00: sextiles are more like a tool that you have.
- 24:58SPEAKER_00: And this tool can be developed when and where you need to develop it.
- 25:02SPEAKER_00: You're not simply born with the ability to do it flawlessly right from the get-go with this one.
- 25:10SPEAKER_00: But the talent is there.
- 25:12SPEAKER_00: And if you work on it, you will get better and better at it.
- 25:16SPEAKER_00: And it will become something important and useful for you.
- 25:20SPEAKER_00: Now,
- 25:21SPEAKER_00: even though it's not quite as strong as the trine,
- 25:25SPEAKER_00: some astrologers like the sextile a little bit better than the trine.
- 25:30SPEAKER_00: And that's because you're not as likely to miss it.
- 25:34SPEAKER_00: If you try something and it appears that you have a bit of a knack for it,
- 25:40SPEAKER_00: You might actually notice that with a sextile.
- 25:43SPEAKER_00: And then once you've noticed it, you might pursue it.
- 25:46SPEAKER_00: Sometimes people find a lot of success in their lives because of their sextiles.
- 25:53SPEAKER_00: So where a person with the Mercury-Neptune trine is just imagining new ideas 24-7
- 26:00SPEAKER_00: and thinking that everyone must be super imaginative like that,
- 26:04SPEAKER_00: and hey,
- 26:04SPEAKER_00: they're not special,
- 26:06SPEAKER_00: the sextile will probably be different.
- 26:09SPEAKER_00: For them,
- 26:10SPEAKER_00: the Mercury-Neptune connection may look like,
- 26:14SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 26:15SPEAKER_00: having an opportunity to do something creative.
- 26:19SPEAKER_00: Something might come up in your life that gives you a chance to work on something.
- 26:24SPEAKER_00: And it's not completely natural right in the beginning,
- 26:27SPEAKER_00: but they stretch themselves a bit and they end up doing a really great job.
- 26:31SPEAKER_00: And maybe other people notice that they did a really great job too.
- 26:34SPEAKER_00: And they get complimented on it or they realize they really enjoyed doing that new thing.
- 26:39SPEAKER_00: It did come kind of easily to them.
- 26:41SPEAKER_00: And hey, they'd like to do more of that thing.
- 26:44SPEAKER_00: So they sign up for the writing class or they buy a journal or they do some
- 26:48SPEAKER_00: community theater because it was so much fun when they tried it before.
- 26:51SPEAKER_00: And so with time and effort,
- 26:54SPEAKER_00: it's going to become probably a really valuable endeavor for them and they could
- 27:00SPEAKER_00: meet with some real success.
- 27:03SPEAKER_00: In the end,
- 27:04SPEAKER_00: both trines and sextiles are considered really positive,
- 27:08SPEAKER_00: and having some in your chart is considered a really nice thing.
- 27:13SPEAKER_00: It's nice to have things in your life that come a little more easily.
- 27:18SPEAKER_00: And, you know, next week we're going to talk about the hard aspects, which are oppositions and squares.
- 27:25SPEAKER_00: And while they do tend to feel a little more challenging,
- 27:29SPEAKER_00: we actually really need those in our charts too.
- 27:32SPEAKER_00: Sometimes people who just have a whole bunch of trines or primarily trines and
- 27:38SPEAKER_00: sextiles in their chart can end up
- 27:41SPEAKER_00: not doing a whole lot and not growing the way that other people do.
- 27:46SPEAKER_00: They can stagnate.
- 27:47SPEAKER_00: There's a real risk of stagnation there because we actually need some resistance in our life.
- 27:54SPEAKER_00: We need some challenges to face in order to learn who we really are and develop into our full potential.
- 28:01SPEAKER_00: So having a mix of these hard aspects with soft aspects or both red and blue lines
- 28:08SPEAKER_00: is in fact preferable,
- 28:09SPEAKER_00: believe it or not.
- 28:11SPEAKER_00: Okay, that wraps up today's discussion.
