- 0:38Hello, TPR Nation. This is Amber Kuhn, thank you for joining me
- 0:42on today's Follow up Friday, where I'll be recapping this
- 0:45week's episode highlights and action items. On Monday, Matt
- 0:48was joined by Dr Andy Garrett, a licensed clinical psychologist
- 0:51who started working with successful individuals who had
- 0:54all the external markers of success, but who he said
- 0:56internally were bankrupt. So he helped these individuals
- 0:59reestablish their identity and find their core values, leading
- 1:02them to perform better at work and at home. He's built a course
- 1:05that focuses on solving for identity, and this launched in
- 1:08March 2020, and the people who stayed in that program, who
- 1:11started at that time ended up thriving during such an
- 1:14uncertain time. Matt and Dr Andy spent some time talking about
- 1:17successful people who reached whatever dollar amount they
- 1:20thought was the top of the mountain and expected everything
- 1:23they needed would be at that point, only to find out that it
- 1:26wasn't. Dr Andy talked about the term true north, which helps you
- 1:29to find your purpose and remain stable. This is different from
- 1:33how most people live their lives, where they're constantly
- 1:35reacting. Dr Andy said there's a resilience piece, which is a
- 1:39part of finding your true north. You have to accept that there
- 1:42are going to be struggles and obstacles, but that it's the
- 1:45emotional reaction that will get you in the biggest trouble. He
- 1:48talked about how there's this space where your capacity for
- 1:51growth and freedom exists, but that normally people just give
- 1:54this space away because of their emotions. So if you have
- 1:57resilience strategies in place when certain emotions are
- 2:00triggered, you can recognize what's happening and use certain
- 2:03tools to find ways to pivot out of what you're feeling and into
- 2:06that growth response. Dr Andy talked about how issues like
- 2:09authenticity, autonomy and better leadership are great
- 2:12predictors of success. They have a lot to do with their
- 2:15character, and when you get clear on that, you can remain
- 2:17consistent with your guiding principles, and this ultimately
- 2:21helps you need to make fewer decisions which that can really
- 2:24drain a lot of your emotional energy. You can have criteria
- 2:27with your core values to help with this, and when you make
- 2:30decisions that consistently align with your core values, you
- 2:33become a powerful decision maker. He talked about how the
- 2:35strongest state you can be in is authenticity when you're
- 2:38demonstrating or saying things that you know to be true and are
- 2:42fueled by belief and conviction. That is power. If you don't
- 2:45believe things, you can't just think it into existence, and
- 2:48people know when you're lying. An example he had not talked
- 2:51about was fee increases. If you don't believe that you're worth
- 2:54the value you provide, clients will feel that Dr Andy
- 2:57recommends creating value boards, affirmations and vision
- 2:59boards around your core values and guiding principles, which he
- 3:03said our powers in guiding you to greater success. Dr Andy and
- 3:06Matt talked about some examples of affirmations and how
- 3:09sometimes just simple changes in the words you use or how you use
- 3:12them, or making them an action statement can strengthen your
- 3:15conviction for guiding principles. He recommends people
- 3:18do these in a form of a question, but when it comes to a
- 3:21team, provide them with four or five questions they can ask that
- 3:24will enable them to consistently make great decisions and operate
- 3:27with a high level of ethical integrity. They'll perform near
- 3:30the highest of their potential. Dr Andy said that trusting
- 3:33yourself is the basis for getting into flow state on a
- 3:36consistent basis and feeling secure within yourself. Having
- 3:39that insecurity can lead to bad decisions, both in the workplace
- 3:42and at home as well. Let's get into action items operating
- 3:45authentically, developing resilient strategies and being
- 3:48agile and being resilient are the most important high level
- 3:51skills to maximize your success over the next 10 years. To find
- 3:54an assessment to help you examine your values, use up
- 3:57relationships that are getting better and better every day. And
- 4:00if it weren't easy, everyone would do it, and nobody would
- 4:03get paid. AEG slash thrive.com to learn more about Dr Andy his
- 4:06assessments, courses and training for individuals,
- 4:09corporations and even teams. On Thursday, Jamie was diving into
- 4:12the third stage of advisors career the last couple of weeks,
- 4:15Jamie talked about the third stage, where you are earning the
- 4:18revenue you want and you don't have the number of clients that
- 4:21you want, you should be completely focused on growth.
- 4:24You should be focused on marketing development,
- 4:26introducing yourself to new leads and prospects and richly
- 4:29enhancing your client delivery. Jamie talked more about the
- 4:32importance of creating an incredible client experience,
- 4:35because that leads to referrals, and even with those referrals,
- 4:38if it turns out that someone isn't the right fit for you, for
- 4:41whatever reason, you still want to deliver massive value to
- 4:44them. You want anyone you meet with to lead as a raving fan of
- 4:48your professionalism. Once you have the number of clients you
- 4:51want and the revenue you want, you'll still continue to grow.
- 4:54You'll then reach that freedom stage you have to be committed
- 4:57to the discipline and climate gets you to the place where you
- 5:00can take time off. At this stage, you need to be focused on
- 5:03systems, policies and processes. You need to be able to document
- 5:06the things that you do and the things you've learned. Going
- 5:09from freedom to enterprise means building a practice that's going
- 5:13to be sustainable beyond your existence. So as you build out
- 5:16an enterprise office, you may have more clients than you have
- 5:19time to work with. So you're going to need to bring someone
- 5:22in. It becomes your choice whether you want to transition
- 5:25some of those clients to them in Jamie's office, one of the good
- 5:28things they do with their protege or junior advisors is
- 5:31constantly feeding them leave, because when someone joins, they
- 5:34just don't know how to do this themselves. But they try to
- 5:37impart the discipline and lessons to the advisors on how
- 5:40to develop marketing, why content matters and why
- 5:42delivering massive value is important, even if the person
- 5:45you're meeting with isn't an ideal client. So at the
- 5:48enterprise level, you're bringing on more advisors and
- 5:50team members, and it's tricky, because you need to decentralize
- 5:54command and make yourself replaceable after you've spent
- 5:57so many years making yourself irreplaceable, you need to
- 5:59empower others and how remember that during your freedom stage,
- 6:03you're focused on documenting processes in an enterprise.
- 6:05You're putting more knowledge and training into your learning
- 6:09management system, and the better you make your team, the
- 6:11less important it is to have one single person running the
- 6:14organization. So with that enterprise stage, your core
- 6:17focus is to decentralize command and impact as many heartbeats as
- 6:20possible. That wraps up this week's recap so TPR Nation, if
