- 0:33Speaker 2: Mike White, happy Wednesday, brother.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Happy Wednesday.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Welcome folks, Welcome.
- 0:38Speaker 1: How are you living?
- 0:38Speaker 2: How are we living?
- 0:39Speaker 2: How are we living?
- 0:40Speaker 2: Yeah, weekend was awesome.
- 0:41Speaker 2: I was actually a Shrymont so I didn't see a lot.
- 0:43Speaker 2: I was in the mountains.
- 0:44Speaker 2: I missed a lot of the sweet college football action but I got lots of recap, listened to reports.
- 0:48Speaker 2: I actually DVR like a bajillion games.
- 0:50Speaker 2: I feel like I got caught up.
- 0:51Speaker 2: It was good to be the mountains, like peak it's peak foliage in Virginia, so the oranges and the yellows and the greens was all very lovely.
- 0:59Speaker 1: This is my favorite time of year, not only for college football reasons, but also because it's like chilly in the morning, it's like nice and like average during the day.
- 1:08Speaker 1: It's perfect.
- 1:10Speaker 2: It's nice with a bunch of kids not to be sweating all the time, Just like you know, just generally just not sweating.
- 1:14Speaker 2: I'm wearing pants, long sleeves and being comfortable in my own skin.
- 1:17Speaker 2: I just feel really good about that.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm proud of you man.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Thanks, brother.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Anyway, that's enough about that.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Let's talk about some college football.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Big week week eight.
- 1:25Speaker 2: We're going to head a week nine.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Let's go ahead and jump right into the week eight action.
- 1:29Speaker 2: I want to start at the top.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Shout out Davos Sweeney Kind of called his shot here.
- 1:33Speaker 2: You know he talked to his comments last week on the last loss.
- 1:36Speaker 2: He was like maybe we need to lose another game or so and get more folks off the bandwagon.
- 1:41Speaker 2: And that's exactly what he did Losing to Miami in.
- 1:44Speaker 1: I don't know if that's exactly what he wanted to do.
- 1:46Speaker 1: I don't think it's what he's targeting them.
- 1:48Speaker 2: It's exactly what he did.
- 1:49Speaker 2: They lost an overtime, hated the fourth down call of the quarterback keeper, whatever that was, club that could not get it done.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Miami's defense is very good.
- 1:59Speaker 2: They held Clemson 34 rushing on 31 carries.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Miami had no time.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Or van Dyke are underrated Heisman candidate Teller van Dimes.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Teller van Dimes like to say didn't matter, Miami still did enough.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Clemson sitting at four and three, or wow.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Yeah, and I'll just take this as another opportunity to talk about how college football's new overtime rules are stupid, even though it didn't greatly impact this one.
- 2:29Speaker 1: They just need to go back to the way it was just alternate possessions, don't do anything weird, yeah, yeah.
- 2:37Speaker 1: That being said, kudos to Miami.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Yeah, and yeah, I mean Clemson's still got a long road ahead of them.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:47Speaker 2: They still got.
- 2:47Speaker 2: I think they still got Duke, not Duke.
- 2:49Speaker 2: I'm sorry They've got Notre Dame, notre Dame, unc.
- 2:53Speaker 1: South Carolina, even NC.
- 2:53Speaker 2: State Albany, nc State Thames is kind of a shelf.
- 2:57Speaker 2: They're all.
- 2:59Speaker 2: They're all plucky games I mean we could be talking about.
- 3:01Speaker 2: We were talking about a national championship contender, clemson.
- 3:04Speaker 2: We're now talking about a seven and five Clemson.
- 3:07Speaker 1: You know they'll probably I could see him dropping one, maybe, maybe two more.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Notre Dame.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I think the UNC is going to be tough, georgia Tech should be a walk and South Carolina.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Normally I would say that they're just going to dominate South Carolina, but that'll be South Carolina Super Bowl and it's it's a rival at South Carolina.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Yeah, weird things happen.
- 3:26Speaker 2: We'll see.
- 3:27Speaker 2: So, uh, dabbo not having the year that they thought they were going to have it.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Oklahoma survived his 20 point favorites against UCF.
- 3:34Speaker 2: Ucf had a chance to force overtime, ucf double reverse pass.
- 3:38Speaker 2: They had one shot.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Another horrific overtime, two point conversion call, two games in a row, for open it up.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Oklahoma's UCF is not, has not done very well this year and they've been overwhelmed by Pact 12.
- 3:52Speaker 2: I mean big 12 competition, specifically in the trenches, and they had no problem moving the ball in Oklahoma.
- 3:57Speaker 2: Is this a problem for Oklahoma?
- 4:00Speaker 1: I don't think so, because you you see these types of games and the teams win and everyone's like, oh man, what does that mean?
- 4:09Speaker 1: But every national championship contender has to survive a game like that once or twice throughout the season.
- 4:16Speaker 1: It's a long season.
- 4:17Speaker 1: You have let downs, you have games that you find yourself in dogfights that you probably shouldn't even as dominant as Georgia was last year.
- 4:26Speaker 1: They had a couple of those and you know can state yeah.
- 4:30Speaker 1: So I mean, it's not super alarming.
- 4:32Speaker 1: You got to find a way to win yeah, the.
- 4:35Speaker 1: The reverse pass was was a dumb call, because you've been playing them straight up, yeah, and, and playing them well all game long.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Here's the thing, though you reach into your bag of tricks and that works.
- 4:45Speaker 1: You're a genius.
- 4:47Speaker 1: If it doesn't, you know hindsight's 20, 20.
- 4:50Speaker 2: I just hate having with the game on the line any quarterback having one decision like.
- 4:54Speaker 2: I like giving, I like giving them.
- 4:56Speaker 2: I like you know options.
- 4:58Speaker 2: I like our PO stuff.
- 4:59Speaker 2: I like dropback passes where you can find a guy.
- 5:02Speaker 2: I work your progressions.
- 5:03Speaker 2: I hate those.
- 5:04Speaker 2: I hate those high pressure position plays where they only have one shot.
- 5:08Speaker 2: But hey, what do I know?
- 5:08Speaker 2: You're right, you're exactly right.
- 5:10Speaker 2: If it, if it hit and obviously they saw something on a film to think that it would, he would have been a genius.
- 5:14Speaker 2: But what are you going to do?
- 5:16Speaker 2: Speaking of close calls, in big 12, texas almost lost to Houston, got way ahead.
- 5:20Speaker 2: Dana holds green.
- 5:21Speaker 2: The Cougars came all the way back.
- 5:23Speaker 2: They're able to pull it off.
- 5:25Speaker 2: Quinn Ewers second degree sprained shoulder.
- 5:28Speaker 2: He's going to be out for a while.
- 5:30Speaker 2: We are now looking at the Malik Murphy slash Archie Manning show.
- 5:33Speaker 2: I'll say this Texas has probably the deepest and most talented, best quarterback room in the country.
- 5:39Speaker 2: But that doesn't mean it's not going to have some drama.
- 5:41Speaker 2: I you know.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Obviously Archie Manning is one of the biggest recruits in a while.
- 5:45Speaker 2: The Malik Murphy has been that guy and running the offense really, really well.
- 5:49Speaker 2: I expect it to be Malik Murphy show, but like if he suffers at all, if he struggles a little bit, like you're going to hear the arch.
- 5:55Speaker 2: You're going to start hearing the arch calls Like it's, even if they're winning, even if they do well, you're still looking at an interesting storyline in the Texas quarterback room.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Yeah, you hate to see a starting quarterback go down, for you know a contender like that, texas still has a lot to play for.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Only one loss, probably seeing Oklahoma again.
- 6:13Speaker 1: I don't know how long yours is going to be out, but they don't exactly have a ton of time to figure it out.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Kansas State on the schedule on a couple of weeks.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Iowa State kind of having a sneaky good year in Texas Tech is pretty dangerous as well.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Hey man, I'm talking about BYU.
- 6:29Speaker 2: This week I think they're going to give more of a life.
- 6:31Speaker 2: We'll get into that in a second half.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, so we'll see.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Neither of those guys I mean are at the Quinn Ewers level right now, so they're going to have to figure some things out.
- 6:41Speaker 2: Yeah, the good news is they still have Jonathan Brooks standing behind him and he's a really good running back, so I like to get a ton of work.
- 6:46Speaker 2: Rest the way.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Yeah, they still have a stout defense.
- 6:49Speaker 2: They're great in the trenches, obviously, yeah to the best defensive tackles in the country.
- 6:52Speaker 2: I mean they still have a lot of things, lots to play for.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Utah.
- 6:54Speaker 2: My only correct dog call yesterday I went last week.
- 6:58Speaker 2: I went hard on the dogs with Tennessee, auburn, penn State and Utah.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Utah was the only one I got right.
- 7:03Speaker 2: It did not happen the way I thought it was going to happen.
- 7:06Speaker 2: The game finals for was 34 to 32.
- 7:08Speaker 2: I believe Utah got to that, knocked off USC.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Given USC second straight loss, I was expecting like a 14 13 type game.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Kudos to Utah's Bryson Barnes getting that offense going with the offense has been an afterthought all season USC defense secure for the bad offense, I guess.
- 7:27Speaker 1: I am sorry, utah Utes, I should have never doubted you.
- 7:31Speaker 1: I will never pick Utah to lose against USC again until it happens.
- 7:37Speaker 1: This is four in a row.
- 7:38Speaker 1: He owns that team.
- 7:38Speaker 1: All of these games have been extremely important for both teams.
- 7:43Speaker 1: I see Utah just continues to beat them yeah.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I was winning him.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I think I picked.
- 7:52Speaker 1: USC.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Last time too, and I was wrong.
- 7:53Speaker 1: So yeah, utah, utes baby, very good to do.
- 7:57Speaker 2: So I'm going to go ahead and I'm going to ask the most obnoxious question ever Does Caleb what?
- 8:02Speaker 2: Does Caleb Williams shut it down?
- 8:04Speaker 2: He's not playing for the highs and he's not playing for national championship.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Honestly, I think they're.
- 8:08Speaker 2: They still have two or three more losses.
- 8:09Speaker 2: You really are looking at an eight and four, seven, five USC potential season which is like the Alamo Bowl, which we already know Caleb's not going to play in that.
- 8:18Speaker 2: Like he's consensus number one, like it's just the most obnoxious college football conversation, but we have to have it because people actually do it.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Like is he going to play the rest of the way?
- 8:29Speaker 1: He's shown himself to be that type of guy, whatever that means.
- 8:33Speaker 1: And they've got a.
- 8:34Speaker 1: They've got a roster full of kind of transfer, you know, mercenary portal type guys that says good word that they've pieced together.
- 8:44Speaker 1: So it'll be really interesting to see how Lincoln rally holds this team together.
- 8:48Speaker 1: You mentioned losses.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Looking ahead, you know they've got Washington, they've got at Oregon and then at home against UCLA is going to be tough as well.
- 8:57Speaker 1: I don't think he shuts it down yet.
- 9:00Speaker 1: There's, you know, there's still six and two.
- 9:04Speaker 1: They've got what?
- 9:05Speaker 1: One pack 12 loss.
- 9:07Speaker 1: So there's still everything in front of them in the conference.
- 9:10Speaker 1: So I don't think I think that's talk is a little premature.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Well, little, little, little premature.
- 9:16Speaker 1: But it won't surprise me if they drop Washington you know if he doesn't play against UCLA late.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Look, I'm just saying if he come, if he starts cleaning, starts complaining about a chronic hangnail, like this is the classic time where they have like the injury that's like oh, we don't really know, it's like a lower upper body extremity brain joint tear.
- 9:36Speaker 2: He's out one to 12 weeks.
- 9:38Speaker 1: It's not going to be a hangnail, because he takes care of his nails and the tourists.
- 9:42Speaker 2: He has pretty nails, so keep it on that space.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Penn State, ohio State two really good defenses.
- 9:47Speaker 2: I don't really have a lot of thoughts about this.
- 9:48Speaker 2: I think a difference really was just Penn State did not have a anybody like Marvin Harrison.
- 9:54Speaker 2: I don't.
- 9:55Speaker 2: I wasn't particularly impressed with a large or McCord of the defenses were both awesome.
- 9:59Speaker 2: James Franklin continues to lose a big game.
- 10:02Speaker 2: I hate to say it for him but his narrative about being a big game loser frankly was going to carry on.
- 10:06Speaker 2: I just the difference is like there was nobody that could get open and for on the other side, ohio State could and Marvin Harrison.
- 10:15Speaker 2: I think was a difference.
- 10:17Speaker 1: But what you take on this or the headline game last week, yeah, I think it's safe to say Marvin Harrison Jr was a difference.
- 10:22Speaker 1: He was like the only guy providing offense for Ohio State.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Both teams played really conservatively.
- 10:27Speaker 1: I thought Ohio State would win, but I expected them to move the ball and produce more points.
- 10:33Speaker 1: So I do think Penn State's defense continues to show that it is very elite and again, if you're Ohio State, this is the type of game you've got to find a way to win.
- 10:43Speaker 1: They're doing it with defense.
- 10:44Speaker 1: So maybe our expectations are just a little bit out of whack for Ohio State and that we can.
- 10:50Speaker 1: We continue to expect this high flying offense and really they're a defensive team.
- 10:53Speaker 1: They're going to hang their head hat on defense and that could bode well for them when they do face a Michigan down the road.
- 11:02Speaker 2: I totally agree.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Interesting, interesting little tip I saw yesterday the opening lines have posted for that game it's Michigan minus seven.
- 11:08Speaker 2: They're giving the other emissions getting a full touchdown in an in our in Ann Arbor, which feels a little high to me.
- 11:14Speaker 2: We got plenty of weeks to talk about that game but right now the smart people in Vegas number of things.
- 11:19Speaker 2: People think it's my Michigan minus seven hosting Ohio State.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Well, if their advanced scouting team is shut down.
- 11:24Speaker 2: That line, you know if they're not stealing signs, you know.
- 11:28Speaker 2: We'll just.
- 11:28Speaker 2: We're just got to see what that line moves.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Anyway, we have plenty of time to talk about that.
- 11:32Speaker 2: Missouri is good.
- 11:34Speaker 2: They spanked South Carolina 34 12.
- 11:36Speaker 2: They got a bi week this week and then they got Georgia.
- 11:39Speaker 2: I think they got a shot.
- 11:40Speaker 2: I think Missouri or Tennessee, as in our second best team in the East We'll find out when you two played each other a couple of weeks.
- 11:45Speaker 2: I just think their offense is awesome and their defense is just solid.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Well, coach, could use the Eli Drinkowitz really getting that program off the mat.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Yeah, missouri has been a surprise this year.
- 11:56Speaker 1: They continue to be really good.
- 11:58Speaker 1: We'll see.
- 11:59Speaker 1: I do.
- 11:59Speaker 1: I definitely think that that's an interesting game to watch, so I'm excited to see how that one turns out.
- 12:04Speaker 1: If they can hang around, it could tell us a lot about both teams, yep.
- 12:08Speaker 2: I just you know, I feel a whole lot better if Missouri was playing in where they play, not away from.
- 12:15Speaker 2: Columbia.
- 12:15Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 12:15Speaker 2: Um, I feel a lot better if it was there.
- 12:17Speaker 2: I mean I was going to Athens, columbus, georgia, columbus, georgia plays a lot better.
- 12:21Speaker 2: I could look what they did at Auburn not good, they look what they did at home versus Kentucky and they just opened up a can.
- 12:27Speaker 2: So I Georgia's got a little bit of a home and away thing going so, but I still think Missouri is good enough.
- 12:32Speaker 2: Give a fight and Luther Burton's on the field.
- 12:34Speaker 2: He's going to catch a bunch of balls.
- 12:35Speaker 2: So we'll see Bad day for the PPP fund.
- 12:38Speaker 2: 15, seven almost lost to Arizona State.
- 12:40Speaker 2: My boy, michael Pennix, had no touchdowns, did you see on after the game.
- 12:46Speaker 2: So Arizona State is having like the worst injury riddled season ever.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Just bajillion folks out.
- 12:52Speaker 2: In the press conference he was literally begging students like hey look, are you fear 300 pounds and you can bench like 200 to 50.
- 12:58Speaker 2: Just come play field goal for us.
- 12:59Speaker 2: Just come play field goal, block Cause there's.
- 13:01Speaker 2: So they have so few offensive linemen they can't even put a special teams field goal, field goal kicking team out there Like it is wild.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Yeah, that's that's crazy.
- 13:11Speaker 1: I did, I did see that.
- 13:12Speaker 1: I did see the game here and there, here and there.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Uh, officiating in college football continues to be a problem.
- 13:20Speaker 1: Uh, I was.
- 13:22Speaker 1: I talked about a lot last year.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Um you, just, you're getting these calls that are complete head scratchers.
- 13:28Speaker 1: There's no accountability, there's nothing for.
- 13:30Speaker 1: For, for those of you who didn't see it, there was like an egregious, egregious passenger clearance call that they picked up on Washington.
- 13:40Speaker 1: Washington takes the next play for a pick.
- 13:43Speaker 1: Six ends up winning.
- 13:44Speaker 1: The game I mean it was the still frame is like the guy is getting drug to the ground.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it's, it's bad.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Then you've got the Iowa game with the, the, the fake.
- 13:58Speaker 2: I actually think that was the right call.
- 13:59Speaker 2: But yeah, go ahead.
- 14:00Speaker 1: That's not the right call.
- 14:01Speaker 1: That's, that's a ridiculous call.
- 14:03Speaker 1: I will loses the game on a phantom fair catch call.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Left hand wiggle situation.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Yes, I know Wiggle.
- 14:10Speaker 1: We had a similar situation in the Tennessee Bama game.
- 14:13Speaker 1: No one knows what passenger clearance is anymore.
- 14:16Speaker 2: I couldn't define it for you.
- 14:17Speaker 1: It's just ridiculous.
- 14:18Speaker 1: I don't know what I mean.
- 14:20Speaker 2: I don't know Well well, officiating is bad, officiating is bad.
- 14:24Speaker 2: The future, I think the future that we're going to put computer chips and balls.
- 14:27Speaker 2: They're going to solve these questions, but they don't have.
- 14:28Speaker 1: We need professional referees, not these part time guys.
- 14:31Speaker 1: I mean, this is there's this a million dollar, billion dollar industry we're talking about betting on it.
- 14:37Speaker 1: People are betting on it, and true, yes.
- 14:41Speaker 2: Oki State.
- 14:41Speaker 2: Another nice win 4834 at West Virginia.
- 14:43Speaker 2: That's three straight for them.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Oklahoma State, which looked pitiful.
- 14:46Speaker 2: I think they lost badly, like South Alabama, by like 20 early in season.
- 14:49Speaker 2: They are the third best team in the big 12 is where I've kind of landed.
- 14:52Speaker 2: They beat both Kansas schools back to back, which is very impressive.
- 14:55Speaker 2: I think I think both those schools are pretty good.
- 14:56Speaker 2: Bedlam is in two weeks is going to be fun.
- 15:00Speaker 2: Oklahoma State you know they got they.
- 15:02Speaker 2: Have no love loss with Oklahoma, especially this year with Oklahoma piecing out for the SEC my gun.
- 15:06Speaker 2: He made it really clear I'm not sure where.
- 15:09Speaker 2: I'm not sure if that's still water or Norman, I don't think it's going to matter.
- 15:12Speaker 2: Oklahoma State is going to give them hell.
- 15:14Speaker 2: So I'm looking forward to that, because Oki State for just getting off the mat and you know they might.
- 15:19Speaker 2: You know, if we see a classic big 12 collapse, like we've made jokes about Texas, oklahoma, they, oki State, might easily back toward their way into the big 12 championship.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Yeah, they're a solid team.
- 15:29Speaker 1: You know they're five and two, three and one in the conference.
- 15:32Speaker 1: That game is at Oklahoma State, ok.
- 15:36Speaker 2: OK, let's do it.
- 15:38Speaker 2: Yeah, that's awesome.
- 15:39Speaker 2: Nebraska won four and five.
- 15:41Speaker 2: The one loss was Michigan.
- 15:43Speaker 2: Badly, they are right in the thick of the West because the big especially when I was losing this week to Minnesota.
- 15:47Speaker 2: The big 10 West is so back.
- 15:49Speaker 2: Henrik Heiberg is a terrible quarterback.
- 15:51Speaker 2: He's passing like 51 percent.
- 15:53Speaker 2: They're doing enough.
- 15:54Speaker 2: They're winning with defense.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Nebraska is live in the West.
- 15:57Speaker 2: I'm telling you.
- 15:58Speaker 2: The rest of their games are all against pretty bad or mediocre big 10 West teams.
- 16:02Speaker 2: All of those teams are pretty bad, including Nebraska.
- 16:06Speaker 2: I picked Nebraska to win the big 10 West, which at the time was probably a little foolish.
- 16:09Speaker 2: They're live.
- 16:10Speaker 2: I'm just saying it.
- 16:10Speaker 2: They're live.
- 16:11Speaker 2: Anything on anything, on anything.
- 16:13Speaker 1: On big red, Matt Ruhle, your one, no, no, I mean, I'm happy to see them surging, but whatever, they're not a great team.
- 16:19Speaker 1: No, they're not.
- 16:20Speaker 2: Shout out Rutgers six and two.
- 16:21Speaker 2: They are going bowling.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Rutgers took advantage of the early schedule in six and two.
- 16:25Speaker 2: They are going to finish six and six.
- 16:27Speaker 2: Their schedule is back loaded.
- 16:28Speaker 2: They will not win a game the rest of the season, but didn't matter because they got there.
- 16:32Speaker 2: Starlet Knights are going bowling six and six.
- 16:34Speaker 2: Good for you, guys.
- 17:15Speaker 1: Whatever, I hate Rutgers.
- 17:16Speaker 1: I hate Mike Shiano.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Mike Shiano, get out of here.
- 17:19Speaker 1: They're terrible.
- 17:19Speaker 1: Rutgers is terrible.
- 17:20Speaker 1: Scarlet Knights, you suck Come at me.
- 17:25Speaker 2: I will also play Rosa we talked about.
- 17:26Speaker 2: I was in the Zürich game on that crazy phantom punt return call.
- 17:29Speaker 2: Well, it was over, under was 31 and they didn't even come close.
- 17:33Speaker 2: They scored 22 points.
- 17:35Speaker 2: The Floyd of Rosdale, the big, the copper pig or whatever is made of Brian Brass, goes back to Minnesota for the first time in a long time.
- 17:42Speaker 2: Kudos to the gopher's, pj Flex, I think.
- 17:45Speaker 2: First win as Minnesota coach over Iowa.
- 17:47Speaker 2: So that's a good one.
- 17:49Speaker 2: That's a good one to get in a really weird big 10 West this year.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Can I just throw a stab at you?
- 17:53Speaker 1: And I know we've talked about?
- 17:54Speaker 1: We talked about the offense, we've talked about you've touched on it.
- 17:58Speaker 1: I love these, of course you can.
- 17:59Speaker 1: The yards per play for this game Two point three for Iowa and three point four for Minnesota.
- 18:08Speaker 1: Both teams, that's it.
- 18:09Speaker 1: That's it.
- 18:13Speaker 2: Can you imagine watching this game like sitting on your couch, like we, just for three and a half hours, like actively watching and rooting for one of these two teams?
- 18:19Speaker 2: I feel?
- 18:21Speaker 1: like that, like you would be transported back in time and you'd be in black and white sitting there Like I mean this is a classic, like 1901 football game.
- 18:34Speaker 2: It really is.
- 18:34Speaker 2: I mean, bring back the flying V.
- 18:36Speaker 2: I mean this is just, it's unbelievable.
- 18:37Speaker 2: Hope you got a break.
- 18:38Speaker 2: Maybe bring a book with you, I don't know.
- 18:40Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe watch, read, a read like a Hunger Game or something that stands.
- 18:44Speaker 2: It's just something to do because football is just woeful.
- 18:47Speaker 2: Jmu nice win against Marshall 20 to nine.
- 18:51Speaker 2: They are the class of the G five.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Jaylin Green, speaking of speaking of statistics, had five sacks in this game.
- 18:57Speaker 2: He is now leading the nation with 13.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Jmu Jamie.
- 19:02Speaker 1: Yeah, they sure did.
- 19:03Speaker 2: They smacked him around Jamie defensive and Jaylin Green is the nation's stack leader.
- 19:08Speaker 2: Thank you for, jamie, but you know what Jamie was doing this year.
- 19:11Speaker 2: The best thing they can do is continue to dunk on the NCAA and highlight how ridiculous of an organization they are, which you and I are not shy about Talk about in lots of instances NCAA- gets dunked on weekly.
- 19:22Speaker 2: They're terrible and that's the best thing, jamie, you can do this year is just give another annual dunk fest on.
- 19:27Speaker 2: Hey, look at us, still undefeated.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Still can't play in the postseason.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Thanks NCAA for your brilliant strategizing and whatever the hell that is.
- 19:36Speaker 2: So Kiosk Duke dogs obviously the best team in the state of Virginia as well.
- 19:40Speaker 2: So, but you know we have, we have not so fast.
- 19:43Speaker 1: We've gotten this far.
- 19:44Speaker 1: In the podcast.
- 19:45Speaker 1: We even talked about UVA, upsetting Carolina Targills.
- 19:51Speaker 2: I think it's time to do that.
- 19:51Speaker 2: Uva knocks off top 10 UNC on the road.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Malik Washington 12 for 5th for 115 for one touchdown.
- 19:58Speaker 2: Here is the most surprising things.
- 19:59Speaker 2: I was actually just one of the games.
- 20:00Speaker 2: I went back and watched UVA's offensive line straight up beat up UNC's defensive front, which is wild Because obviously UNC's defensive line is the one that opened the season with like seven sacks against South Carolina.
- 20:12Speaker 2: We're like, oh, unc has a defense.
- 20:14Speaker 2: Like, oh, we're doing this.
- 20:15Speaker 2: They gave up 230 rushing yards to UVA.
- 20:19Speaker 2: You can no longer say you have a good defense, unc, when you give up 230 yards to our beloved Wahoos.
- 20:24Speaker 2: No disrespect to the Wahoos, just let's be, let's be real here for a second.
- 20:29Speaker 2: That is not a serious national title, title, contending defense when that happens.
- 20:33Speaker 2: But man, good job UVA, especially the offense Complete team effort.
- 20:38Speaker 1: I mean everybody did their job.
- 20:40Speaker 1: Everybody.
- 20:40Speaker 1: They just looked like a different team.
- 20:43Speaker 1: I don't know what North Carolina's deal was, but yeah, you said it, rushing was was kind of the main thing and they got it from everybody.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Yeah, paris Jones 14 for 67.
- 20:53Speaker 1: Mike Hollins 15 for 66.
- 20:55Speaker 1: Tony Musket 12 for 66.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Kobe Pace 11 for 30.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Spreading the ball around on the ground Beautiful thing to see.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Love to see it.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Love to see it.
- 21:03Speaker 2: I will say UVA's defense still gave up 500 yards, didn't matter, got the win, so good for them.
- 21:09Speaker 2: I just let you love to see it.
- 21:11Speaker 2: I'll talk about archery teams quickly.
- 21:12Speaker 2: Lsu vaporizes Army 62 to nothing.
- 21:15Speaker 2: This only thing kind of take away from me is this is 10 straight quarters of LSU actually playing high quality defense, starting with the second half of that Missouri game.
- 21:23Speaker 2: Auburn was a was an awesome performance defensively.
- 21:25Speaker 2: And then obviously, anytime you get a pitch of shutout in a college football game, granted it's against Army.
- 21:30Speaker 2: I don't really care.
- 21:31Speaker 2: Is this the turning point for LSU's defense?
- 21:34Speaker 2: Lsu's offense we all know is elite, number one scoring offense country.
- 21:38Speaker 2: They're going to buy a week.
- 21:39Speaker 2: They're going into Bama next week.
- 21:40Speaker 2: Can this defense stop anyone?
- 21:43Speaker 2: Because you know if LSU can, this defense.
- 21:46Speaker 2: If this is the turning point, if this, you know, if that Ole Miss game was the Tennessee game of last year, tennessee beat the breaks off us.
- 21:52Speaker 2: In the rest of the season we looked like the whole lot better than you know.
- 21:56Speaker 2: That included Alabama win.
- 21:57Speaker 2: So you know this might be that moment.
- 21:59Speaker 2: So that's kind of all I got going into the bye week for LSU.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Well, looking ahead, you know the bye week's coming out at the right time, and so it's coming out at the right time for what it's worth.
- 22:09Speaker 1: You know, bama hasn't shown the explosive offense numbers wise to be able to keep up with LSU, so it'll be interesting to see.
- 22:17Speaker 1: We'll get to that one when it comes, but early I like the edge for.
- 22:21Speaker 2: LSU.
- 22:22Speaker 2: Yeah, it's nice to see Speaking of Bama.
- 22:24Speaker 2: Let's go ahead and get this out of the way.
- 22:25Speaker 2: Ut drops a tough one on the road.
- 22:28Speaker 2: They were up 20 to seven at the half was like a second.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Look at the second half shutdown.
- 22:31Speaker 2: This is your, this is your game.
- 22:33Speaker 2: You tell me what you got.
- 22:34Speaker 1: Yeah, this is just a heartbreaker and a head scratcher all the way around.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Tennessee looked dominant at times in the first half, literally two plays into the second half, bama puts up a big splash play, touchdown, a weird Phantom fair catch call pins the balls back at the four yard line.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Bama gets a quick field goal and all of a sudden it's a dogfight.
- 22:58Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just.
- 23:01Speaker 1: It was a kind of a perfect storm, like it often is in Tuscaloosa A lot of questionable calls, some, some poor execution by the balls.
- 23:11Speaker 1: Just another, just another Bama game.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Yeah is all I can say.
- 23:16Speaker 2: Devastating Scuba score at the end.
- 23:18Speaker 2: I mean even to the very end.
- 23:19Speaker 2: You know Tennessee had a shot.
- 23:21Speaker 2: This felt kind of felt like the Florida game.
- 23:23Speaker 2: In a lot of ways I kind of feel like if this game was in Knoxville Tennessee would have won.
- 23:28Speaker 2: I wasn't particularly overly impressed with anything Bama did and Tennessee had their chance.
- 23:31Speaker 2: You know, like that game played again in Knoxville, instead of 20 to seven at the half it's like 34 to seven at the half, like Tennessee was doing whatever they would seem like was doing whatever they wanted the first half and the second quarter.
- 23:43Speaker 2: I mean kudos to Bama and those guys for making second half adjustments.
- 23:47Speaker 2: They obviously said something's locker room that were correct, or Hypal didn't say the right things to his guys and lock them.
- 23:51Speaker 2: You can call it whatever way you want.
- 23:53Speaker 2: You know that was a game where the home crowd was able to get back into it and that may may have a big difference in.
- 23:59Speaker 2: Tennessee is not as good a team like anybody, is not as good a team on the road as they are at home.
- 24:05Speaker 1: So no, and Tennessee is a good team, not a great team, and didn't play to the level they needed to to win a game like this.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Yeah, especially in the second half.
- 24:15Speaker 1: First half was fantastic, anyway, moving on, let's do it.
- 24:20Speaker 2: Other thoughts before we jump into week nine.
- 24:21Speaker 2: Really quick, who is the second best team in the ACC?
- 24:23Speaker 2: Mike, mike, oh, is it Miami or UNC?
- 24:28Speaker 2: Is it Duke?
- 24:29Speaker 2: Here's, here's a, here's a fun game to play.
- 24:31Speaker 2: Is Virginia Tech going to get it?
- 24:33Speaker 2: Going to get there down the stretch?
- 24:35Speaker 2: Look at the rest of their not likely but they got one loss they beat UNC.
- 24:40Speaker 2: They're not playing Duke or Clemson.
- 24:42Speaker 2: There is a world where Virginia Tech sneaks in like it is the ACC after Florida State.
- 24:48Speaker 2: The drop off is just massive.
- 24:51Speaker 2: So yeah, get it.
- 24:54Speaker 2: If you call your shot right now, who's getting?
- 24:56Speaker 2: Who's the second team getting in there?
- 24:59Speaker 1: You know, I haven't.
- 24:59Speaker 1: I don't know what the schedule looks like, but without looking at the breakdown, yeah, I don't know, duke.
- 25:08Speaker 2: Okay, I like that.
- 25:09Speaker 2: You know, if Riley Leonard bounces back, you know Louisville.
- 25:11Speaker 2: So Louisville is three and one.
- 25:12Speaker 2: North Carolina is three and one.
- 25:14Speaker 2: Duke is two and one.
- 25:14Speaker 2: Virginia Tech is two and one Florida State's five and no, I think it's going to be one of those four teams, and a lot of those teams do play each other.
- 25:21Speaker 2: I like that.
- 25:22Speaker 2: I guess I'll say UNC.
- 25:23Speaker 2: You know, I think they're better than the UVA game, obviously, and their schedule the rest of the way shapes up pretty well as and they're going to have a chance.
- 25:31Speaker 2: They've got Duke and Clemson.
- 25:32Speaker 2: They're going to have, they really have a chance to submit themselves.
- 25:34Speaker 1: Yeah, and they probably get the higher ceiling than Duke.
- 25:38Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 25:41Speaker 2: More talent, and I mean not probably, they definitely do yeah.
- 25:43Speaker 2: And we don't.
- 25:43Speaker 2: We still don't know about Riley Leonard, which we'll talk about.
- 25:45Speaker 2: So I cool.
- 25:46Speaker 2: That's week eight.
- 25:47Speaker 2: Let's jump ahead to week nine.
- 25:49Speaker 2: So I was on football this week.
- 25:50Speaker 2: I actually think the slate's kind of weak.
- 25:51Speaker 2: There are a lot not a lot of ton of great games.
- 25:54Speaker 2: We have some we're going to talk about, I think when we're going to talk about first, florida versus Georgia in Jacksonville.
- 26:01Speaker 2: This is the neutral site SEC East rivalry game.
- 26:03Speaker 2: It's oftentimes called the largest outdale cocktail party in the country.
- 26:07Speaker 2: Is that?
- 26:08Speaker 2: I believe that's?
- 26:08Speaker 1: the world's largest cocktail party World's largest cocktail party.
- 26:10Speaker 2: Thank you very much.
- 26:11Speaker 2: Georgia is a 14 and a half point favorite, which I just think is too much.
- 26:16Speaker 2: I expect them to win, but Florida is a real ass SEC team that's very quietly like five and two behind Graham Ertz.
- 26:23Speaker 2: Georgia, away from Athens, has has not really been stomping on folks.
- 26:29Speaker 2: Why are they getting more than two touchdowns?
- 26:31Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 26:32Speaker 1: I do think that this is a more of a dogfight than than maybe the national pundits and Vegas thinks.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Florida has been shown to be pretty well coached and schemed up this year.
- 26:47Speaker 1: They're doing more with less, so I'd like them to have kind of a puncher's chance to to hang in it, especially in a neutral site game like that.
- 26:57Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I totally agree.
- 26:59Speaker 2: And they, they're coming off that big win against South Carolina, which was that last week or two weeks ago.
- 27:05Speaker 2: That was two, that was two weeks ago.
- 27:07Speaker 2: So Florida is also coming off a buy.
- 27:08Speaker 2: So they're, they're well rested and ready to go.
- 27:11Speaker 2: So I, you know, I don't love, I don't, I don't love Georgia to cover at all.
- 27:16Speaker 2: I think Florida I think Florida is going to have has been scheming.
- 27:19Speaker 2: Oh, they're both coming off a box.
- 27:21Speaker 2: They had Vanderbilt, whatever.
- 27:22Speaker 2: Both of me well rested.
- 27:24Speaker 2: It's going to be interesting.
- 27:25Speaker 2: Game to two touchdowns is too much.
- 27:26Speaker 2: That's really my only takeaway.
- 27:27Speaker 2: Blunt to the same, I agree.
- 27:29Speaker 2: All right.
- 27:29Speaker 2: Oregon minus six and a half at Utah.
- 27:31Speaker 2: Cam rising is officially been out, ruled out for the year.
- 27:34Speaker 2: He's going to get a medical hardship or something like that, which means it's the Bryson Barnes show who stepped up.
- 27:40Speaker 2: Nicely.
- 27:40Speaker 2: There's something to be said for when you know for sure that the guy isn't coming back.
- 27:46Speaker 2: And now you're the guy.
- 27:47Speaker 2: So like I kind of contribute that a little bit to Bryson Barnes resurgence against USC last last week and while the offense looked the best.
- 27:54Speaker 2: But look for Utah.
- 27:55Speaker 2: All week they're playing at Utah, which is a hell of a place to play.
- 27:59Speaker 2: Oregon is really damn good.
- 28:01Speaker 2: Same situation here.
- 28:03Speaker 2: Give me seven, seven points at home into Utah.
- 28:07Speaker 2: Utah, who is just the most underrated, underappreciated, good ass football team in the last three, over the last three seasons.
- 28:14Speaker 2: I think you and I can agree on that.
- 28:16Speaker 2: Yeah, we disrespect them constantly.
- 28:18Speaker 2: Give me Utah on the points.
- 28:21Speaker 1: Yeah, I gotta disrespect him again.
- 28:22Speaker 1: I like Oregon in this game.
- 28:26Speaker 2: You're going right back to the well.
- 28:27Speaker 1: Never learn, man you know I'm not a smart man.
- 28:30Speaker 2: I know what love is Fair enough.
- 28:33Speaker 2: I mean Oregon's awesome.
- 28:34Speaker 2: They're top.
- 28:34Speaker 2: They are a top play team.
- 28:35Speaker 1: I just think Oregon's just, yeah, the more complete team.
- 28:39Speaker 1: Bo Nix has been a starter for longer than anybody else in the NCAA history.
- 28:44Speaker 1: I just it's yeah, I don't know.
- 28:47Speaker 1: Utah is a very, very good team.
- 28:50Speaker 1: Usc continues to be much more flawed than we even thought they were and Oregon's just not as flawed.
- 28:57Speaker 2: I just that's my logic, yeah and obviously Oregon's playing the chip on the shoulder coming off the U Dub when they know the Oregon I mean Oregon has has national title.
- 29:06Speaker 2: And I could have gone either either way.
- 29:07Speaker 2: Totally, they easily could have won that game and they are in a corner now.
- 29:11Speaker 2: They don't.
- 29:12Speaker 2: They're.
- 29:12Speaker 2: They're.
- 29:12Speaker 2: Mulligan is gone.
- 29:13Speaker 2: Every team, every, in college football 2023, you pretty much get one Mulligan, get one loss, realistically, if you still want to play for national championship.
- 29:20Speaker 2: Oregon has used it, so they are playing with their hair on fire as well.
- 29:23Speaker 2: So there might be something to be said there as well.
- 29:26Speaker 2: Duke, at Louisville Louisville is a four point favorite.
- 29:28Speaker 2: The loser of this game is out of the ACC title race.
- 29:33Speaker 2: In my mind, realistically, these are.
- 29:35Speaker 2: These are two of the four top five teams outside of four.
- 29:38Speaker 2: So we just talked about.
- 29:39Speaker 2: Louisville is coming off a buy and then, after coming after that tough loss to Pitt, so they're in it.
- 29:47Speaker 2: And that was before the massive Notre Dame win.
- 29:49Speaker 2: So Louisville is motivated.
- 29:51Speaker 2: They've had a week of rest.
- 29:52Speaker 2: They're waiting for him.
- 29:53Speaker 2: Riley Leonard played last week Wasn't enough.
- 29:56Speaker 2: Loss got hurt again.
- 29:58Speaker 2: Duke is a good team.
- 30:00Speaker 2: Michael goes an awesome coach.
- 30:01Speaker 2: Duke is going to win a lot of football games this year.
- 30:04Speaker 2: This is a real bad spot for him, especially if Riley Leonard is not healthy.
- 30:09Speaker 1: Yeah, Louisville is a very good team.
- 30:11Speaker 1: They showed that earlier in the year when they beat Notre Dame.
- 30:16Speaker 1: They're capable of big things.
- 30:17Speaker 1: They can put up points.
- 30:18Speaker 1: They've got playmakers at quarterback position and a wide receiver.
- 30:23Speaker 1: So yeah, I agree with you.
- 30:24Speaker 1: This is kind of a tough spot, especially on the road and without their quarterback for Duke.
- 30:28Speaker 1: So what did you say?
- 30:30Speaker 1: The spread was minus four for Louisville.
- 30:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I kind of like Louisville to cover that.
- 30:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I'll use well.
- 30:35Speaker 2: And also you remember last week I get the one that was for the state Duke game.
- 30:40Speaker 2: Duke was winning in the fourth quarter and then Riley went out and they couldn't do anything and Florida State said, all right, we're going to put eight men in the box, we're going to, we're going to play you like, we're going to play you like 1980s football and you can't throw the ball.
- 30:52Speaker 2: I don't see any world where, as well as their coach defensively, and as well as as good as Mike Elko is, they don't have a quarterback, they don't have a there's state, like most teams.
- 31:02Speaker 2: Whenever you lose an NFL caliber quarterback on a college football team, it's a massive problem.
- 31:07Speaker 2: So if, keep an eye, keep I don't have a pick for this Keep a close eye on the space of if Riley Leonard can go.
- 31:14Speaker 2: If he can go, they have a shot.
- 31:15Speaker 2: If they don't, louisville rolls, is my opinion.
- 31:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I like Louisville to win.
- 31:19Speaker 1: I don't know if they roll, I think they cover.
- 31:21Speaker 1: I like Jack Plummer.
- 31:22Speaker 1: He's a really solid quarterback for them.
- 31:23Speaker 1: He's kind of in that same Riley Leonard vein.
- 31:26Speaker 1: He can do a lot of things.
- 31:28Speaker 1: So, yeah, that's my nice year.
- 31:30Speaker 2: He's having a nice year.
- 31:31Speaker 2: I'm going to BYU plus four plus 17 and a half at Texas.
- 31:36Speaker 2: This has a chance to be the most Texas game of all time.
- 31:40Speaker 2: Byu is quietly having a pretty good year.
- 31:42Speaker 2: They're five and two.
- 31:43Speaker 2: This is this is Tennessee.
- 31:46Speaker 2: This is Texas's first week of without much time right for the new quarterback.
- 31:50Speaker 2: So it's either Malik Murphy, we think, or is the archman experience going to happen.
- 31:54Speaker 2: I expect both those guys be really good.
- 31:56Speaker 2: I don't think we're really good in this week.
- 31:59Speaker 2: I'm not saying they're going to lose to BYU, but this has a chance to be the is Texas back game that we talk about every season?
- 32:05Speaker 1: it seems like I like where your head's at.
- 32:09Speaker 1: I just don't see it playing out that way.
- 32:10Speaker 1: I just think they've got too much talent too, too too much you know weight in the trenches that they'll be able to push them around.
- 32:17Speaker 1: Byu is always solid, they're always really well coached, but they're just going to be out of the world.
- 32:23Speaker 1: Yeah, out outmanned.
- 32:25Speaker 1: And this game is in Austin.
- 32:27Speaker 1: To be fair, yeah, they're just Texas can say my athletes are better than your athletes, yeah.
- 32:34Speaker 2: Oklahoma minus 10 at Kansas.
- 32:35Speaker 2: This one is in Lawrence and same same thing.
- 32:38Speaker 2: This is the two superpowers in Big 12.
- 32:41Speaker 2: Of both, both looked bad last week against UCF, almost losing, and against Houston last week with Oklahoma at Kansas.
- 32:46Speaker 2: Tricky spot Lawrence will be rocking.
- 32:49Speaker 2: J Lon Daniels, the Kansas quarterback, has missed the last three games.
- 32:54Speaker 2: Lance Leipold, the Kansas head coach, has said this week they think he's going to be back to a lot of optimism.
- 33:00Speaker 2: I read that.
- 33:00Speaker 2: I read the.
- 33:01Speaker 2: I read the article from the Lawrenceville Star.
- 33:03Speaker 2: I believe is the, the Kansas publication I read this morning.
- 33:08Speaker 2: They think he's going to be back.
- 33:10Speaker 2: I, you know I'm going to play.
- 33:12Speaker 2: I'm rolled the dollars like I've been doing the last two weeks here.
- 33:15Speaker 2: Give me Kansas plus 10.
- 33:16Speaker 2: I don't know if they're going to win, but Oklahoma is vulnerable and Kansas can be tough.
- 33:21Speaker 2: I can't.
- 33:23Speaker 2: I can't believe.
- 33:24Speaker 2: I'm calling Lawrenceville Hornstass, but here I am.
- 33:26Speaker 2: Here we are in 2023.
- 33:28Speaker 2: I'm not talking about basketball.
- 33:30Speaker 1: I think this is one of those trap games where you see a lot of over reactions from Oklahoma Struggling.
- 33:34Speaker 1: No, no, you didn't let me finish.
- 33:35Speaker 1: Oh, I sure didn't.
- 33:36Speaker 1: This is a.
- 33:39Speaker 1: This is a knee jerk reaction to Oklahoma struggling last week and people think that they're vulnerable.
- 33:43Speaker 1: Oklahoma does its job and beats Kansas.
- 33:48Speaker 1: Buy multiple scores, multiple scores.
- 33:50Speaker 1: Oh man, I hope J Lon Daniels comes back.
- 33:51Speaker 2: All right, let's move on to the homer time really quick.
- 33:53Speaker 2: Lsu is on a buy and next week at Bama, which we talked about, let's talk about UVA, uva plus 18 at Miami.
- 34:00Speaker 2: Back to back.
- 34:01Speaker 2: Road shockers for the.
- 34:02Speaker 2: Can they do it?
- 34:03Speaker 2: Can they do it?
- 34:06Speaker 2: I'll say this Margaret Mara Cristobal got his first ACC home win last week.
- 34:08Speaker 2: They are not Hard Rock Stadium, which is where the Dolphins play.
- 34:13Speaker 2: This is one of the problems with Miami is, if you know, if you look at, if you ever look at a Miami game on television, there aren't that many people there, because it's like 20 miles from campus and Miami is just like SoCal.
- 34:21Speaker 2: It's just such a happening town.
- 34:22Speaker 2: It's not that everybody is going.
- 34:24Speaker 2: So I think that's a good thing.
- 34:27Speaker 2: So you're not really worried about home field.
- 34:29Speaker 2: For what it's worth, uva's offense is clicking.
- 34:32Speaker 2: They might not have TVD plus 18 points.
- 34:35Speaker 2: What do you got?
- 34:40Speaker 1: Oh, um, I'm I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm.
- 34:44Speaker 1: I love that UVA did that last week.
- 34:48Speaker 1: I just don't think that they can pull it off again.
- 34:51Speaker 1: Again, miami is coming off one of its better performances this season, especially defensively, and they're going home.
- 34:59Speaker 1: Yeah, defensively they did.
- 35:00Speaker 1: I just don't see it happening for the Wahoos, unfortunately.
- 35:05Speaker 1: Hopefully I'm wrong, but I like Miami to roll this one.
- 35:11Speaker 1: Maybe not cover, but that's a big number, that's a big number.
- 35:15Speaker 2: What I like about this UVA team is they're very competent offense.
- 35:17Speaker 2: You know, like Tony Stewart, it's like say what you will about the team.
- 35:19Speaker 2: They're two and five.
- 35:20Speaker 2: Terrible rough, close losses a couple spots NC State, jmu.
- 35:26Speaker 2: You know it's funny Because if you look at their schedule and you look at those close, there's one more and I can't remember what it is.
- 35:30Speaker 2: If you look at their schedule, they're like six points away from being a five and two team.
- 35:36Speaker 2: They're not.
- 35:37Speaker 1: They're not.
- 35:38Speaker 1: They don't get a perfect.
- 35:38Speaker 1: They were an eyelash away from having several more wins.
- 35:42Speaker 2: And Boston College.
- 35:42Speaker 2: Boston College is the other one, I believe.
- 35:44Speaker 2: So like those three games, obviously they got with Los Angeles, tennessee and Maryland.
- 35:48Speaker 2: Those other three were winnable games.
- 35:50Speaker 2: You don't get credit for almost wins in this game, but like they were close, they were competitive.
- 35:54Speaker 1: Yeah, it's indicative.
- 35:55Speaker 2: It is, and if they were we would be talking about it, because my point is the whole of the silly silly exercise.
- 36:01Speaker 2: That's a small margin and if we were, those games could have gone the other way with one or two plays and if we were we'd be talking about UVA in a completely different light.
- 36:11Speaker 2: So there's a little bit of value there on UVA and I also love what the team is.
- 36:15Speaker 2: Just the offenses continue to develop, whether it's the Calandria experience or my guy Tony Blunderbuss offense is good, malik Washington is good, malkai Fields is an awesome receiver.
- 36:26Speaker 2: They've got backs.
- 36:27Speaker 2: They have done a really good job of scheming around.
- 36:31Speaker 2: I'll say an offensive line that although coming off the best performance of the season against UNC for sure, that hasn't been a strength this year.
- 36:38Speaker 2: They're doing a really good job with that and they're making UVA football watchable.
- 36:42Speaker 2: So maybe this is the moment.
- 36:44Speaker 2: They had an awful last season.
- 36:46Speaker 2: The tragedy, of course.
- 36:47Speaker 2: My point this could be the beginning of a big upswing for Tony Stewart.
- 36:52Speaker 2: Hopefully he could ride that UNC win with some momentum, tony Elliott.
- 36:56Speaker 1: Yeah, here's the thing, thank you.
- 36:58Speaker 2: Tony Stewart's a NASCAR driver.
- 36:59Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I think it's my bad.
- 37:01Speaker 1: Here's the thing.
- 37:01Speaker 1: What you're saying in a nutshell is, although you're not seeing the wins produced, you can feel the momentum of the program moving in the right direction.
- 37:10Speaker 1: They could easily be overperforming this year in the win column.
- 37:16Speaker 1: On that same note, Miami dropped that horrific, weird ending game to.
- 37:23Speaker 2: Georgia Tech and they could be.
- 37:26Speaker 1: We could be talking about them as a top 10 team right now.
- 37:30Speaker 1: If that hadn't happened, potentially Should be One loss yeah absolutely.
- 37:34Speaker 1: I don't think this is the game to continue to ride the momentum for UVA.
- 37:40Speaker 1: But that doesn't mean it's not happening.
- 37:42Speaker 2: Yep, yep, uva is one, two in a row William Bantz, william Mary, myle Ma-Modder and at UNC they're hot.
- 37:48Speaker 2: If one, two in a row, we'll see if they can make it three, all right.
- 37:51Speaker 2: Last but certainly not least, this game is tomorrow night.
- 37:54Speaker 2: Virginia Tech minus three at home versus Syracuse.
- 37:57Speaker 2: Thursday night I expect Lane to be rocking.
- 37:59Speaker 2: Virginia Tech is two and one and ACC play and they have only winnable.
- 38:04Speaker 2: All their games are winnable At Louisville is tough, but I get that, but it's definitely a winnable game.
- 38:09Speaker 2: They lost Louisville just lost a pit At Boston College, nc State and at UVA.
- 38:14Speaker 2: There is a chance here where Virginia Tech could play itself very much back in the picture.
- 38:19Speaker 2: It feels like a bull has been put right back on the menu of Virginia Tech.
- 38:26Speaker 2: We were talking about two Virginia schools that weren't really going to fighting for bull.
- 38:29Speaker 2: I don't really give UVA much of a chance at this point.
- 38:31Speaker 2: Virginia Tech sitting at three and four that one game is a big difference, especially looking down their schedule, this Syracuse game.
- 38:38Speaker 2: What are your thoughts?
- 38:40Speaker 2: Go?
- 38:42Speaker 1: ahead.
- 38:42Speaker 1: Yeah, this is great for the fans, for the Virginia Tech fans.
- 38:46Speaker 1: All of a sudden you've got something you're inching towards.
- 38:49Speaker 1: There's a lot of hope on the horizon If you can get to a bull game.
- 38:52Speaker 1: It just makes that season so much more fun.
- 38:54Speaker 1: Virginia Tech has covered, I think, all three of their ACC games.
- 39:00Speaker 1: They've got a good defense.
- 39:02Speaker 1: Syracuse's offense is pretty wonderful.
- 39:06Speaker 1: The dimensional Gerrit Rader has failed to hit 200 yards.
- 39:11Speaker 2: Yeah, he hasn't been the guy he was last year, the year before.
- 39:14Speaker 1: Yeah, he's thrown in exceptions, he's sacked.
- 39:17Speaker 1: He's been sacked 17 times.
- 39:19Speaker 1: And the Hokies have a lot of sacks.
- 39:21Speaker 1: They've compiled 22 sacks on the season.
- 39:24Speaker 1: That's top 10 in the country.
- 39:26Speaker 1: I didn't know that?
- 39:27Speaker 1: Nope, neither did I.
- 39:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I love the Hokies to cover this with defense.
- 39:33Speaker 2: Yeah, and also on the other side, kyren Jones, who is the Baylor transfer, who took the job from an injured Grant Wells at one point, has really never looked back.
- 39:42Speaker 2: He's on the heels of his best performance ever Two weeks ago.
- 39:44Speaker 2: Wake for it 20 for 29, 321 yards, two touchdowns.
- 39:47Speaker 2: So we're seeing drones and the things he could do with keeping plays alive with his legs dual threat tuck and run some rollout stuff Like I like what Pry is doing with drones a lot.
- 39:59Speaker 2: This is what we were hoping for when we were talking about this back in August was can he be the guy to do those things and make Virginia Tech more multiple and make defenses?
- 40:08Speaker 2: Yeah, drone strikes, drone strikes in the house man Make defenses have to play lane football and really be make sure to keep them in the pocket.
- 40:15Speaker 2: So, and he's done a good job of making those teams pay, and I think he's going to this tomorrow night against Syracuse.
- 40:21Speaker 2: So I got the Hokies winning by seven to 10 points.
- 40:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I love a Thursday night game in Lane Stadium.
- 40:27Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, I think.
- 40:29Speaker 1: I think, lane Stadium is built for Thursday night games.
- 40:32Speaker 2: It's going to be dark, it's going to be juice, the foliage, the fall.
- 40:35Speaker 2: We're just funny.
- 40:35Speaker 2: We're opening this pod talking about foliage.
- 40:37Speaker 2: We're going to close it Talking about the atmosphere.
- 40:39Speaker 1: baby the atmosphere.
- 40:40Speaker 2: The foliage in Blacksburg is going to be divine.
- 40:43Speaker 1: It's going to be off the charts off the charts foliage.
- 40:46Speaker 2: So yeah, give me Syracuse, give me Virginia Tech to roll.
- 40:49Speaker 2: That's all I have for the games this week.
- 40:51Speaker 2: Oh, tennessee, kentucky, oh, I'm so, I'm sorry.
- 40:54Speaker 2: Of course, tennessee is minus three and a half points at Kentucky.
- 40:58Speaker 2: Go ahead and open it up, what you got.
- 41:03Speaker 1: Just quick thoughts on this game.
- 41:04Speaker 1: Kentucky is a solid team, very physical, have one of the best running backs in the country, but very one dimensional.
- 41:11Speaker 1: Devon Leary, transfer quarterback, has been completely underperforming.
- 41:16Speaker 1: They are coming off a bye and Tennessee is coming off of a tough physical loss to Bama.
- 41:21Speaker 1: They had a physical game against Texas A&M the week prior, so maybe look for some potential hangover there.
- 41:28Speaker 1: That's one of the things that you always see is when you know the classic don't let Bama beat you twice.
- 41:34Speaker 1: I still like the balls here.
- 41:36Speaker 2: I literally had that written down.
- 41:37Speaker 1: Go ahead.
- 41:37Speaker 1: I still have the balls here, just because Kentucky is so one dimensional and Tennessee's offense or defense, I'm sorry has looked really, really strong.
- 41:45Speaker 1: So I do like the balls here.
- 41:47Speaker 1: The balls.
- 41:48Speaker 1: I don't want to jigs it, but we just always beat Kentucky.
- 41:51Speaker 1: It just is what it is.
- 41:52Speaker 1: We've only lost to them a couple of times in my lifetime, so I like the Vols.
- 41:58Speaker 2: You literally stole my analysis verbatim.
- 42:00Speaker 2: I have written down don't let Bama beat you twice.
- 42:03Speaker 2: They show up, they win, and then, for literally that exact same reason, I don't have any.
- 42:08Speaker 2: The only thing that really gives me pause and not to go heavy on the Vols here is coming off the emotional loss to Bama.
- 42:15Speaker 2: Losing to Bama sucks you and I know that thoroughly too many times recently.
- 42:19Speaker 2: So and I know those guys in the locker room are bummed, and Kentucky has been home for a week preparing, scheming, resting, recovering, getting juiced up.
- 42:28Speaker 2: Don't let them beat you twice.
- 42:29Speaker 2: If, if, if, if Hypo can get these and Milton and these guys can show up and play to their level of football, even though it's on the road.
- 42:38Speaker 2: Playing the road is a little tougher.
- 42:40Speaker 2: If they show up, they're going to win comfortably.
- 42:42Speaker 2: Just don't let them be twice.
- 42:44Speaker 2: That's one of the only assessment there.
- 42:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree.
- 42:48Speaker 2: Anything else on week nine, week eight or super quickly, the Heisman odds.
- 42:53Speaker 2: How is JJ McCarthy the number one?
- 42:55Speaker 2: So right now, the Heisman.
- 42:56Speaker 2: We already said we had a bad week for the PPP fund.
- 42:58Speaker 2: Jj McCarthy plus two forties, that is the leader in the Heisman race.
- 43:02Speaker 2: Michael Pettix plus 300.
- 43:04Speaker 2: My boy, jane Dales, plus three twenty five McCarthy has done literally nothing.
- 43:09Speaker 2: Is this, is this just a future bet on beating Penn State, ohio State?
- 43:13Speaker 2: I don't know what's going on this is what the Heisman does every year.
- 43:17Speaker 1: man, it's the worst award in sports.
- 43:20Speaker 2: It's going to ruin our polos.
- 43:21Speaker 2: What's going to happen?
- 43:21Speaker 1: It's a travesty and it is a joke of an award.
- 43:25Speaker 1: For now, until one of my guys wins it, I've been, of course, just kidding.
- 43:30Speaker 1: Yeah right, of course, yeah right, but yeah every year, every freaking year, it's just pick a guy off of whoever you know the national championship team is.
- 43:39Speaker 1: Yeah, you know their quarterback.
- 43:40Speaker 1: Just whoever that guy is, that's the guy.
- 43:42Speaker 1: So I guess that's a good sign for Michigan fans, yeah.
- 43:45Speaker 2: I mean I mean Michigan, you know, especially given what Ohio State looked like offensively last week.
- 43:50Speaker 2: I think they're you know they're going to Michigan's going to be about a touchdown favorite.
- 43:53Speaker 2: Probably there are Ohio State we already talked about that.
- 43:55Speaker 2: They're probably going to be a touchdown favorite about on the road at Penn State in two weeks.
- 43:58Speaker 1: So they've already got the signs for it.
- 44:00Speaker 2: They've already got the signs for it.
- 44:02Speaker 2: They've stolen those.
- 44:03Speaker 1: Those are in the bag.
- 44:05Speaker 2: I just if Jay McCarthy ruins my chance to get a polo and the Mike Blitz polo, I'm going to be so upset.
- 44:10Speaker 2: This is really such a bummer to me.
- 44:11Speaker 2: If Jay Daniels does, I'm okay with that, but if it's, if it's JJ, if it's JJ, then I just think I be.
- 44:17Speaker 2: Now I realize I'm talking about both sides of my mouth.
- 44:19Speaker 2: I think it was just last week I was saying what Michigan is doing to their schedule is impressive.
- 44:23Speaker 2: You know the Homer Simpson thing, true, playing against third graders, but he's kicking their ass, that's true, like he is.
- 44:28Speaker 2: What Michigan is doing to everybody is just they are but racing everybody.
- 44:34Speaker 1: The high trophy goes to the best player in college football and year after year, the best player in college football does not win the Heisman the Heisman.
- 44:41Speaker 1: This is also correct.
- 44:42Speaker 2: And that's what I'm going to be.
- 44:43Speaker 2: I'm going to be super salty If McCarthy, if, if, if, if pennies gets runner up to McCarthy, that is, I will not be able to be a knock us to me very happy.
- 44:51Speaker 2: Um, all right, cool, that is.
- 44:53Speaker 2: Any other thoughts on anything before we?
- 44:55Speaker 1: before we wrap now, thursday night, let's go Hokies.
- 44:58Speaker 2: Awesome Folks.

- 45:15Speaker 2: This is Mike Blitz.
- 45:15Speaker 2: Oh, we'll cue up the music.
- 45:17Speaker 2: Um, we got a riff riff for a minute.
- 45:19Speaker 2: Okay, we're good.
- 45:20Speaker 2: All right, y'all check it is.
- 45:21Speaker 2: He'll have a good week.
- 45:22Speaker 2: It's terrible, terrible call.
- 45:26Speaker 2: Sorry, folks.
- 45:33Speaker 1: When went underwater.
- 45:35Speaker 2: I had the riff man, I didn't think of my feet, I couldn't do it.
