- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio. It's the almost famous podcast, Big News Today,
- 0:10Speaker 1: Massive News. This is the last off season episode we
- 0:14Speaker 1: will have until the start of the premiere of The
- 0:18Speaker 1: Bachelorette Charity. We walking into the mansion dating. I don't
- 0:24Speaker 1: know if we know exactly how many people yet, but
- 0:26Speaker 1: it's gonna be incredible yet.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Twenty five, twenty six, perfect seven, perfect. It was less
- 0:30Speaker 2: than mass the last few seasons.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Perfect amount of people. We're excited, We're ready. Also, Ashley,
- 0:37Speaker 1: it is the week of the birth of my wife.
- 0:40Speaker 1: We celebrated her birthday this week.
- 0:42Speaker 2: It will rebby birthday to Jess.
- 0:45Speaker 1: It was great.
- 0:46Speaker 2: I know that you guys went to dinner and stuff
- 0:48Speaker 2: last night. What else did you do anything?
- 0:49Speaker 1: We went to the pool, which was nice, so we
- 0:53Speaker 1: hung out by the pool. We don't have our own pool,
- 0:56Speaker 1: but we do have a pool near us that we
- 0:59Speaker 1: go to. We had a great dinner we did. I
- 1:03Speaker 1: did get her a gift, something she was very surprised by.
- 1:06Speaker 1: I had to. And I don't know if this is
- 1:08Speaker 1: a thing, Ashley, or how you feel about it. I
- 1:11Speaker 1: would love I'm not a big gift guy. Receiving or giving.
- 1:15Speaker 1: It's just not something I grew up doing.
- 1:16Speaker 2: And oh I love giving.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, I like thinking of people and doing
- 1:23Speaker 1: it sporadically, but it's not I don't like the pressure
- 1:27Speaker 1: for an actual day. Yeah. And this year, for the
- 1:30Speaker 1: first time in the five years that I've been with Jessica,
- 1:34Speaker 1: I want to hear your honest opinions on this. I
- 1:37Speaker 1: had no clue what to get her. She does like
- 1:39Speaker 1: receiving gifts, she also likes giving gifts. I had no
- 1:42Speaker 1: idea what to get her like is zero, and so
- 1:44Speaker 1: I had to reach out to her mom. Her mom
- 1:47Speaker 1: gave me some great insights and tips because when I
- 1:50Speaker 1: asked Jessica, what would you like this year for birthday?
- 1:53Speaker 1: She goes, nothing, We're going to Italy, that's the gift.
- 1:55Speaker 1: And I was like, that's never gonna fly. If we
- 1:57Speaker 1: go to your birthday and I don't have something, something
- 1:59Speaker 1: doesn't big, but something, I know that there's going to
- 2:03Speaker 1: be like a little disappointment. And so I had to
- 2:06Speaker 1: reach out to her mom. Here's my thing. I'm always
- 2:10Speaker 1: very thankful for her mother, very thankful that her mom
- 2:13Speaker 1: knows Jessica so well. Is it am I a bad
- 2:16Speaker 1: husband because I don't know what to get my wife.
- 2:19Speaker 2: No, I've been reaching out to a mom or sister,
- 2:22Speaker 2: is like the most obvious thing.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Yeah, of course, okay, they're good. Well, I just want
- 2:26Speaker 1: to make sure what'd you get her? Got her necklace?
- 2:29Speaker 1: She had a necklace she's been having her eye on,
- 2:31Speaker 1: I guess for a year. She saw it at an
- 2:34Speaker 1: event that we went to. Somebody was wearing it. She
- 2:36Speaker 1: fell in love with it, kind of sent to her
- 2:39Speaker 1: mom said oh, this is so beautiful. So that's what
- 2:42Speaker 1: I did, and she loved it like we had legit tears,
- 2:47Speaker 1: which I've never cried over a gift in my life,
- 2:49Speaker 1: and so but she literally cried, which was very sweet.
- 2:53Speaker 2: So for Father's Day, this is how in Synca Jared
- 2:56Speaker 2: and I are about gifts. So first off, he was like,
- 2:58Speaker 2: I don't want anything. I don't want to. I think
- 3:00Speaker 2: he didn't get me anything for Mother's Day, so he
- 3:02Speaker 2: especially didn't know any anything.
- 3:04Speaker 1: I like it he got me. I like that move, Jared.
- 3:07Speaker 2: He got me a little chocolate in a single rose
- 3:11Speaker 2: get this at CBS at two am the night before,
- 3:14Speaker 2: on his way home from work.
- 3:16Speaker 1: He was thinking about you, which was sweet.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Like, I mean that like really took effort at two am.
- 3:20Speaker 2: So I appreciate it and I would never hold it
- 3:23Speaker 2: against and that he didn't get anything else. It's totally fine.
- 3:25Speaker 2: But I love also because like I just don't need anything.
- 3:30Speaker 2: I'm always like I don't even want to get a
- 3:32Speaker 2: gift because like I already feel like the house is
- 3:35Speaker 2: too jam packed. Sure, so I'm like, please don't bring
- 3:38Speaker 2: anything else into the house. But with Jared, I love
- 3:42Speaker 2: giving him gifts because like he just has these certain
- 3:45Speaker 2: interests that really give to gift giving because he's so
- 3:50Speaker 2: into sports, he's so into movies and you know Tom Brady,
- 3:53Speaker 2: It's just really easy to shop for him. I know
- 3:54Speaker 2: I've said this before. So for Father's Day, it was funny.
- 3:57Speaker 2: I was like, what does he what does he like
- 3:59Speaker 2: actually need, Like what's not like a little gimmicky gift
- 4:02Speaker 2: that he would go that would go on display in
- 4:03Speaker 2: his man cave, like something that he would actually use us.
- 4:06Speaker 2: And I was like, Oh, he needs a bag for
- 4:09Speaker 2: his softball stuff because he's always just like lugging bats
- 4:12Speaker 2: and bases and softballs in like his arms and like
- 4:17Speaker 2: in multiple bags and we play softball. I'm just like intramural,
- 4:20Speaker 2: like fun like girling guy softball on Sundays. It's like
- 4:24Speaker 2: his favorite part of the week. So I'm gonna go
- 4:27Speaker 2: get him one of those bags that carries it all
- 4:29Speaker 2: in a very nice organized way, and I'm gonna do
- 4:33Speaker 2: it while he's at a softball game, because the softball
- 4:35Speaker 2: game lasts like two and a half to three hours
- 4:37Speaker 2: and it's too long for me to sit there. So
- 4:39Speaker 2: I go to like one of the two games and
- 4:43Speaker 2: it's by the Dick Sporting Goods. So I'm like told Jared.
- 4:48Speaker 2: I was like, Okay, I'm gonna drop you off and
- 4:49Speaker 2: then I'll go run air. I'm go I'm gonna go
- 4:52Speaker 2: do things, and he's like, what are you gonna do? Like,
- 4:55Speaker 2: I'm gonna get your gift. And then he's like, don't
- 4:58Speaker 2: get me anything. Don't get me thing. He's like, but
- 5:01Speaker 2: if you get me anything, he goes get me a bag,
- 5:05Speaker 2: No a dis for like my softball stuff.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Come on, Jared, don't do it. Are you kidding?
- 5:12Speaker 2: We had never ever had a discussion about a softball
- 5:17Speaker 2: specific backpack, So isn't that kind of cool? It's like,
- 5:19Speaker 2: was annoying at the same time annoying. I told him.
- 5:22Speaker 2: I was like, yeah, it's very frustrating, right, So I
- 5:24Speaker 2: had to say right there, and then I go, how
- 5:27Speaker 2: did you know that that was what I was gonna
- 5:29Speaker 2: get you? Because if I had just gotten it, then
- 5:31Speaker 2: he would have thought that, you know, I just took
- 5:34Speaker 2: his clue. Yeah, he's not so subtle.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Hint, he's not so subtle. Yeah, that's more annoying. Also
- 5:40Speaker 1: very good that you recognized it. You're in sync. Yes, yeah,
- 5:44Speaker 1: but I would have been frustrated because again, it's so
- 5:46Speaker 1: hard for me to think of gifts that if I
- 5:49Speaker 1: did get a gift or I had a gift idea
- 5:51Speaker 1: and Jessica was like, uh, you know if I would
- 5:54Speaker 1: really like that, I'm like, no, I was. I wanted
- 5:57Speaker 1: you to be impressed with my what I saw and needed.
- 6:02Speaker 2: I know, well your intuitive like husbands.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Yeah, I know, which I lacked this year very much.
- 6:09Speaker 2: No, you don't know, you don't what do you why?
- 6:11Speaker 2: How's O?
- 6:12Speaker 1: I didn't know what to get her? Had no idea,
- 6:14Speaker 1: zero zero zero.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Idea, Ben It is totally fine. Okay, So before we
- 6:18Speaker 2: move on from birthdays and celebrations, I do have to
- 6:20Speaker 2: give a shout out to my bubby, my grandmother who
- 6:23Speaker 2: will be turning yes, one hundred years old knock on
- 6:27Speaker 2: wood in forty eight hours on Thursday. So we're going
- 6:31Speaker 2: to New Jersey. We're all going to go to her house.
- 6:33Speaker 2: She doesn't she hasn't left the house, I want to
- 6:36Speaker 2: say a couple of years. But she'll have probably about
- 6:40Speaker 2: like thirty people like circling in and out throughout the day.
- 6:42Speaker 2: And it's very exciting.
- 6:44Speaker 1: So she has great grandchildren one only one one. So
- 6:48Speaker 1: Dawson is going to be Dawson's going to have to
- 6:50Speaker 1: really perform. He's gonna have to.
- 6:52Speaker 2: Show he he shows up every time good he's there.
- 6:55Speaker 2: He like sits on her belly in her bed and
- 6:59Speaker 2: she just says, so, boy, beautiful, He's just the most
- 7:02Speaker 2: gorgeous boy.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Oh well he is, Ashley. We do have some headlines
- 7:06Speaker 1: to get to today. It is the last week again
- 7:10Speaker 1: before season twenty of The Bachelorette. But I know you
- 7:12Speaker 1: that you took some time you were curious to get
- 7:16Speaker 1: on Instagram to get some thoughts from some of the
- 7:19Speaker 1: people that listen to the podcast. Walk us through this
- 7:23Speaker 1: little segment as we do get prepped, pumped ready for
- 7:28Speaker 1: the premiere of the Bachelorette, which will just be happening
- 7:32Speaker 1: in our next episode.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Okay, well, what I did was I asked Instagram just
- 7:38Speaker 2: for their random thoughts on Charity season thoughts, predictions and
- 7:42Speaker 2: anything like that, like the first thing that came to
- 7:44Speaker 2: your mind. And now I have to say, I only
- 7:46Speaker 2: posted about an hour ago, but I'm shocked at the
- 7:49Speaker 2: lack of responses that I've gotten. So that makes me
- 7:52Speaker 2: worry that there's gonna be a lack of watching. One
- 7:56Speaker 2: of our headlines just go, let's just go into that headline.
- 7:58Speaker 2: It's the big deal, and it has to do with
- 7:59Speaker 2: the amount of people that I think will be watching.
- 8:02Speaker 1: This is the headline air quotes here. It says sick
- 8:06Speaker 1: joke Bachelorette fans furious over major show change for Charity
- 8:12Speaker 1: Lawson's new season and claim they won't watch. Now, Ashley,
- 8:17Speaker 1: you're gonna go into this here. It seems to be
- 8:20Speaker 1: a problem with the fans. We haven't gotten a great
- 8:23Speaker 1: explanation for why the time change. I'm I can't read
- 8:28Speaker 1: or find out any reason that they'd make this change
- 8:30Speaker 1: thinking that they would get more viewers. It definitely is
- 8:33Speaker 1: a less desirable time slot, you know, typically and before
- 8:40Speaker 1: we get into your stuff here on Instagram. Typically, when
- 8:42Speaker 1: we lead up to this season, we are in the
- 8:47Speaker 1: conversation between the two of us, was this a good
- 8:49Speaker 1: choice for the lead? Will people buy into this lead?
- 8:52Speaker 1: Do they like the lead? Are they invested in this lead?
- 8:56Speaker 1: Was there a better lead to choose? Now? That conversation
- 8:59Speaker 1: really isn't on my mind for Charity season. I think
- 9:02Speaker 1: she's a great choice for the lead. I think people
- 9:04Speaker 1: like Charity. I don't know if they know her well
- 9:06Speaker 1: enough yet to be invested into her, but I feel
- 9:09Speaker 1: like they know her as much as they probably knew
- 9:13Speaker 1: let's say the Hannah Browns when Hannah Brown came on
- 9:17Speaker 1: to be the Bachelorette. This isn't an argument for are
- 9:21Speaker 1: people going to be into watching Charity fine lover or not?
- 9:24Speaker 1: This is really right now for me, an argument on
- 9:27Speaker 1: why aren't people watching the show? And then if the
- 9:31Speaker 1: fall up to that is, if the reason is the
- 9:33Speaker 1: time slot, is that really going to lower the viewership
- 9:38Speaker 1: as much as what it feels like it seems it will,
- 9:42Speaker 1: especially based on some of your responses. So Ashley, go
- 9:45Speaker 1: into it.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Okay, So sports is like the one thing that needs
- 9:50Speaker 2: to be live these days in order to get writings. Okay,
- 9:53Speaker 2: because lots of people just watch it on HUU, they
- 9:54Speaker 2: watch it on you know, DVR, whatever, it's usually not
- 9:57Speaker 2: a huge I wouldn't normally think that this one hour
- 10:01Speaker 2: was going to play a huge, you know factor into
- 10:05Speaker 2: the ratings, except for the fact that I think people
- 10:07Speaker 2: watch the Bachelorette like sports. It's one of the shows
- 10:12Speaker 2: that people actually tune into at the time that it airs,
- 10:15Speaker 2: and they watch it with friends. It's like a communal watch.
- 10:18Speaker 1: And eage on social media on Twitter like very appy.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Yes, it's like a live event for some reason. That's
- 10:25Speaker 2: just how it's been. So that's why I actually think
- 10:28Speaker 2: the time change is going to hurt it a lot.
- 10:30Speaker 2: It's claim to fame the Frankie Jonas and Kevin Jonahs
- 10:33Speaker 2: show that is airing before The Bachelorette now at a
- 10:37Speaker 2: PM on ABC. So I'm assuming that they were really
- 10:42Speaker 2: happy with how that show performed last season, and maybe
- 10:46Speaker 2: they think there's a general relatability with the audience. I'm
- 10:51Speaker 2: just thinking because like the hosts aid in the age demographic,
- 10:55Speaker 2: I don't know but moving and I actually think it
- 10:59Speaker 2: may have gone after The Bachelorette last season. So that's
- 11:04Speaker 2: concerning because that means that like they they really want
- 11:08Speaker 2: to promote that show more than they want to promote
- 11:10Speaker 2: The Bachelorette, And it brings up a conversation or are
- 11:13Speaker 2: they phasing out the Bachelorette? Are they trying to face
- 11:16Speaker 2: it out almost the franchise, Like why would they, Like
- 11:21Speaker 2: they're prioritizing another show basically by moving them out of
- 11:25Speaker 2: the eight o'clock slot. This is like what happens before
- 11:28Speaker 2: they move a show to Fridays.
- 11:40Speaker 1: So Claim to Fame pulled down less viewers than we
- 11:45Speaker 1: expect The Bachelorette to, you know, to have. So at
- 11:49Speaker 1: the peak of the season it was there, it was
- 11:55Speaker 1: three up. It was the premiere of Claim to Fame
- 11:58Speaker 1: pulled in one point nine five to three million viewers
- 12:02Speaker 1: last year. It did show really positive growth towards the
- 12:08Speaker 1: end of the season. So some weeks you saw drops
- 12:12Speaker 1: of ten and twelve percent. That was kind of middle
- 12:14Speaker 1: of the season. But then at the end of the
- 12:15Speaker 1: season you saw a growth of twelve point five percent
- 12:18Speaker 1: week over week Forclaim the Fame. So if The Bachelorette
- 12:23Speaker 1: is pulling in one point nine million viewers this season,
- 12:26Speaker 1: that would be a low number for the Bachelorette. It
- 12:29Speaker 1: wouldn't be a shockingly known low number because past seasons have,
- 12:34Speaker 1: you know, held some of those numbers.
- 12:35Speaker 2: It's the trajectory.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Yeah, But I also wonder because I am not convinced
- 12:40Speaker 1: that they're phasing out the show. I think some of
- 12:44Speaker 1: the recent changes in management, I think some of the
- 12:50Speaker 1: the commitment to the show, some of the changes they've made.
- 12:52Speaker 1: I think they're going to phase out the luxury of
- 12:54Speaker 1: the show. I don't think they're traveling internationally as much.
- 12:56Speaker 2: They did it in the season, right.
- 12:58Speaker 1: I think they did personalite.
- 13:00Speaker 2: I've heard that is a gigantic change for a non
- 13:04Speaker 2: COVID season.
- 13:05Speaker 1: I agree. I don't know if they're I don't think
- 13:07Speaker 1: we're like coming to the end of the Bachelor att
- 13:10Speaker 1: a Bachelor. I don't believe that. I believe that the
- 13:14Speaker 1: show thinks, Okay, we've lost a lot of viewers, and
- 13:17Speaker 1: the last four seasons, right, a lot of viewers have
- 13:20Speaker 1: gone away. However, the viewers that have stayed are very
- 13:22Speaker 1: loyal viewers. They are loyal to our show, and they're
- 13:25Speaker 1: going to watch this show no matter what. I don't
- 13:28Speaker 1: I think the people that were kind of on the fence,
- 13:30Speaker 1: the fringe viewers. The fringe fans have kind of gone.
- 13:36Speaker 1: I think they still might stop in for a week
- 13:38Speaker 1: or to, you know, to check out and see what's
- 13:40Speaker 1: going on. But I think the loyal fans are still there,
- 13:43Speaker 1: which you know is you and I. I will make
- 13:46Speaker 1: this argument. Yes, I don't like the new time slot
- 13:49Speaker 1: because I am an early bird, and the more people
- 13:52Speaker 1: I talk to these days, in their twenties and their thirties,
- 13:56Speaker 1: it feels like the new norm, like staying up late
- 13:58Speaker 1: is not a cool thing anymore. It's not something you know,
- 14:01Speaker 1: maybe you do in high school. But people young and
- 14:04Speaker 1: people who are you know, middle aged or in the
- 14:07Speaker 1: thirties like me, we enjoy going to bed early and
- 14:10Speaker 1: waking up early. We enjoy our early mornings. We have
- 14:13Speaker 1: you know, to get be healthy. Because people in this
- 14:15Speaker 1: new generation want to be healthier. They want to work out,
- 14:18Speaker 1: they want to you know, read, they want to take
- 14:20Speaker 1: some quiet times in the morning, they just before their
- 14:22Speaker 1: day gets started. And so I do think this new
- 14:26Speaker 1: time slot is concerning to me because nine to eleven
- 14:28Speaker 1: is really late, Like I'm not up at eleven o'clock ever,
- 14:32Speaker 1: unless it's like a Friday Night and I'm you know,
- 14:36Speaker 1: out or whatever. But I think for Charity, I think
- 14:40Speaker 1: she's a good enough choices lead, a popular enough choices lead.
- 14:45Speaker 1: I have a feeling that people will still tune in,
- 14:47Speaker 1: or at least they should tune in, because I think
- 14:48Speaker 1: she's going to be a really exciting, enjoyable lead to watch.
- 14:53Speaker 1: I think your season is going to be good because
- 14:55Speaker 1: the show has to have a good season, Like we've
- 14:57Speaker 1: said it, year over year of a year, they have
- 14:59Speaker 1: to have a good season. They have to. It's there's
- 15:03Speaker 1: not an option anymore.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Last season it was surprisingly entertaining for me, and it
- 15:08Speaker 2: ended up with a couple that I do think is
- 15:10Speaker 2: going to stay together.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Sure, but exactly. But but the difference was not saying
- 15:15Speaker 1: Zach was a bad lead again, not going into that.
- 15:17Speaker 2: People just weren't excited about him.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Weren't excited.
- 15:19Speaker 2: Do you think that people are excited about that about Charity?
- 15:21Speaker 2: And maybe call me hung up on the fact that
- 15:23Speaker 2: I really would have liked it to be Gabby or
- 15:25Speaker 2: Ariel because I just felt like we were way more
- 15:27Speaker 2: invested in their love stories, like they're the progression of
- 15:29Speaker 2: their love stories.
- 15:31Speaker 1: Yes, I think, but I don't think people are making
- 15:34Speaker 1: that like, you don't hear that argument out there very
- 15:36Speaker 1: much like I think they the Aerials and the Gabby's,
- 15:39Speaker 1: you know, maybe they go to Paradise. I think that
- 15:41Speaker 1: people would have said, hey, they would have been in
- 15:43Speaker 1: great leads. Its kind of the Rachel and Gabby situation
- 15:47Speaker 1: where people are like, we don't want to choose between
- 15:49Speaker 1: the two of them, so make them both bachelottes. I
- 15:51Speaker 1: think that's why they share. Did that. I think with Charity,
- 15:53Speaker 1: they're like, Okay, great choice. But we could have had Ariel,
- 15:57Speaker 1: you know, we could have Cad, Gabby, we could have
- 15:58Speaker 1: had all three of them. So we got one of them,
- 16:01Speaker 1: one of them that we wanted. Charity is going to
- 16:03Speaker 1: be great, and I think they're bought in. I don't
- 16:04Speaker 1: think anybody's holding resentment towards the show because of your no.
- 16:09Speaker 2: No. Everybody likes her. Yeah, that's the thing. It's undeniable.
- 16:14Speaker 2: Everybody likes her, and would you know root for her happiness? Now,
- 16:19Speaker 2: who's gonna say, do you think? And I'm sorry that
- 16:22Speaker 2: if we're like reiterating sort of thoughts that we've had
- 16:25Speaker 2: over the past couple months, but especially with the it
- 16:29Speaker 2: wasn't this is the official announcement of the time change.
- 16:31Speaker 2: For some reason, it's just becoming more of a topic
- 16:35Speaker 2: of conversation with being a week out. I think if
- 16:39Speaker 2: you'd done some little similar research beforehand, you would have
- 16:42Speaker 2: figured out this was this was coming. So I'm wondering
- 16:45Speaker 2: if you're thinking they're not trying to phase out the franchise,
- 16:48Speaker 2: but perhaps they're trying to switch the Hulu stream situation
- 16:54Speaker 2: with Disney Plus, you know, Disney Plus and Hulu. Like
- 16:59Speaker 2: I'm confused because because ABC is like kind of integrated
- 17:02Speaker 2: into both of those streaming platforms as Disney owns, yeah,
- 17:05Speaker 2: Hulu and whatever. See, so let's just say it ends
- 17:09Speaker 2: up on one of those, the way that Dancing with
- 17:10Speaker 2: the Stars ended up on that, and then they switched
- 17:12Speaker 2: it back because they're demographic, which is way older than
- 17:15Speaker 2: the Bachelorette ended up like not going over to streaming.
- 17:19Speaker 2: So do you think that they want to switch their
- 17:21Speaker 2: spots and then have the Bachelor go over to Hulu
- 17:25Speaker 2: slash Disney Plus.
- 17:26Speaker 1: It would never work. No, I don't see it. I
- 17:29Speaker 1: don't think it was I didn't work with Dancing with
- 17:31Speaker 1: the Stars. I think it was a good experiment. I
- 17:33Speaker 1: think they knew it was going to be experiment. I
- 17:35Speaker 1: don't see the Bachelor or Bachelorette going to streaming.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Why. I think it would be not the worst idea.
- 17:44Speaker 2: I would also compete with the other dating shows that
- 17:46Speaker 2: usually put their shows out in a big chunk and
- 17:50Speaker 2: the people watch it in a big binge, which would
- 17:52Speaker 2: be kind of be fun. I mean, of course you're
- 17:54Speaker 2: going to get lots of spoilers, but like that's exactly
- 17:56Speaker 2: what Love is Blind does.
- 17:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean exactly. I think with The Bachelor Bachelorette,
- 18:00Speaker 1: one of the hooks still is that you never know
- 18:03Speaker 1: what's going to happen week over week. It's the cliffhangers
- 18:06Speaker 1: at the end of the episodes. And I think they
- 18:08Speaker 1: if they are cool with people binging it great. I
- 18:12Speaker 1: just think it dramatically changes how people watch the show.
- 18:16Speaker 1: And I don't know if the viewers would be more
- 18:18Speaker 1: or less, because I still think people would tune in.
- 18:21Speaker 1: But I think the Bachelor and Bachelorette are still holding on,
- 18:26Speaker 1: maybe by a thread, to this idea that we can
- 18:30Speaker 1: have watch parties, that we can get together with friends,
- 18:33Speaker 1: that we can have wine and cheese and sit on
- 18:35Speaker 1: a couch together, that it's an excuse for us to
- 18:38Speaker 1: get together on a certain night of the week and
- 18:40Speaker 1: it's my night out right, It's my thing to do
- 18:42Speaker 1: this week with my friends because we've done it together
- 18:45Speaker 1: since we were in college or in high school or
- 18:47Speaker 1: in middle school or whatever it was. And I still
- 18:49Speaker 1: think that is the differentiator between The Bachelor and Bachelorette
- 18:53Speaker 1: and all these other dating shows is it still has
- 18:56Speaker 1: the spectacle and it still has the gathering, and like
- 19:01Speaker 1: you said, it's almost like a sporting event. It's an
- 19:03Speaker 1: event still, and the event. Once the event aspect goes
- 19:07Speaker 1: from this show, I think the show really starts to go.
- 19:10Speaker 1: And I think ABC and Disney, if I was in charge,
- 19:13Speaker 1: would be trying to hold on to that event aspect.
- 19:16Speaker 1: And you see it with their promotions. I mean, not
- 19:18Speaker 1: that long ago, right, they had a massive watch party
- 19:21Speaker 1: kind of premiere party where they brought everybody together to
- 19:24Speaker 1: watch it. At the same time, you still have people, right,
- 19:27Speaker 1: I know, you get these offers. I get these offers
- 19:29Speaker 1: every year to come watch the premiere at some specific
- 19:33Speaker 1: space like a bar or whatever. That still makes the
- 19:37Speaker 1: show unique.
- 19:38Speaker 2: And you love the cadres. We normally have the Monday
- 19:41Speaker 2: watch parties, but we're definitely not going to be doing
- 19:44Speaker 2: it often this season with the nine to eleven because
- 19:47Speaker 2: Jared's like, I just can't keep the place. I would
- 19:50Speaker 2: end up having to keep the place, oh like working
- 19:53Speaker 2: there until twelve thirty. Sure I am, And he's like,
- 19:55Speaker 2: I'm not doing that.
- 19:56Speaker 1: Another on a Monday, Okay, so what are the thoughts
- 19:58Speaker 1: did you get on Instagram?
- 20:00Speaker 2: Okay? So yeah, one person said I told them that
- 20:03Speaker 2: they'd be anonymous. One person said I have high hopes
- 20:05Speaker 2: that she will actually find the one. Another one said
- 20:08Speaker 2: I think Charity is going to fall in love fast
- 20:11Speaker 2: and hard. Another one said love her, can't wait to
- 20:14Speaker 2: see the outfits. Then some other people we're not as thrilled,
- 20:21Speaker 2: saying that, you know, hate the time change, but I
- 20:27Speaker 2: think she'll find love. Some other person says, I feel
- 20:30Speaker 2: like I know her more after listening to interviews of
- 20:33Speaker 2: her this week, so like, I'm excited for it. Then
- 20:37Speaker 2: I also have one person here that said Instagram ruined
- 20:41Speaker 2: the Bachelor franchise. Everybody's there for fame. Now I don't
- 20:44Speaker 2: agree with that actually anymore. We had that spike in
- 20:48Speaker 2: the Instagram life and now you don't get much. So
- 20:51Speaker 2: I think people need to get over that thought.
- 20:53Speaker 1: If that's still why people are going on the show,
- 20:55Speaker 1: then they're going to be like really disappointed because it
- 20:57Speaker 1: just doesn't really really that's not a thing. Or there's
- 21:00Speaker 1: nobody getting getting famous or making a ton of money
- 21:03Speaker 1: coming off the show. That's not it's not what's happening.
- 21:07Speaker 1: And so I and I think this next you know,
- 21:09Speaker 1: generation of contestants and leads are going to figure that
- 21:13Speaker 1: out if they haven't already where they're like, I'm going
- 21:15Speaker 1: to go on this show because it's a cool experience.
- 21:17Speaker 1: I'm going to meet a lot of great people. I'm
- 21:19Speaker 1: going to be exposed to some really amazing opportunities, maybe
- 21:23Speaker 1: not financially or through social media, but just opportunities in general.
- 21:27Speaker 1: And maybe I'll find love and that would be great.
- 21:30Speaker 1: But I think the famous side, the social media side,
- 21:33Speaker 1: is gone. That's no longer a narrative. We really need
- 21:36Speaker 1: to like pound into the ground. Yeah, And as a result,
- 21:40Speaker 1: people will be there for the right reasons now more
- 21:42Speaker 1: than ever, I think, because if you're not there for
- 21:45Speaker 1: the right reasons, you're really wasting your time. There is
- 21:49Speaker 1: there is very little financial benefit, and I think people,
- 21:53Speaker 1: you know, we've talked about years past. I think people
- 21:56Speaker 1: think that people get off the show and they just
- 21:58Speaker 1: make a ton of money. Everybody, everybody gets off. Some
- 22:01Speaker 1: have done very well for themselves. Some have have really
- 22:05Speaker 1: found their niche in the social media realm, or they've
- 22:07Speaker 1: done hosting, or they've done events, or they've done podcasters,
- 22:10Speaker 1: et cetera. They've found the way around in this world.
- 22:13Speaker 1: For most part, No, it doesn't happen. It's not a thing.
- 22:18Speaker 1: And I think viewers maybe we'll enjoy the show more
- 22:21Speaker 1: if they know they're watching people who are not going
- 22:23Speaker 1: to come off the show. And I've told this story before,
- 22:26Speaker 1: you know, I had people calling me after their time
- 22:29Speaker 1: on the show and they'd say, I know everybody comes
- 22:31Speaker 1: off the show and they become instant millionaires. And I said,
- 22:33Speaker 1: that's not true. That's not a thing. That's that's not
- 22:37Speaker 1: how this works. Instant, instant, just people are just throwing money. Yeah,
- 22:42Speaker 1: people are throwing money at you. That's not that's not
- 22:44Speaker 1: what's happening. And so I hope a charity season, we've
- 22:48Speaker 1: now kind of said that narrative is no longer a thing.
- 22:51Speaker 1: I hope for charity season we see these contestants in
- 22:55Speaker 1: a better light because they're there for the right reasons
- 22:59Speaker 1: and if they're the villain still or all those things, great,
- 23:01Speaker 1: but they're not doing it for fame, because fame is
- 23:03Speaker 1: not going to come from it. Well, Ashley, the Bachelorette
- 23:08Speaker 1: season is upon us. It's a week away. We're very
- 23:10Speaker 1: excited for it. We're gonna be watching it. We're gonna
- 23:12Speaker 1: be breaking it down right here on the Almost Famous podcast.
- 23:14Speaker 1: We're gonna be talking about Charity season all their guys.
- 23:17Speaker 1: We're going to give our first predictions after the premiere.
- 23:21Speaker 1: We have some really exciting things coming up for the premiere.
- 23:24Speaker 1: We are leaving the off season. That has been a
- 23:26Speaker 1: great off season with some incredible content. Right We had
- 23:29Speaker 1: a Jojo and Jordan interview. We had a couple live
- 23:32Speaker 1: interviews with some past leads. We got to talk to
- 23:35Speaker 1: Zach and Katie. We had some of fan favorites when
- 23:38Speaker 1: it comes to Andrew and Nate.
- 23:41Speaker 2: And Justin, Gabby and Rachel Claire and her husband.
- 23:45Speaker 1: We've we've had a really good offseason, So go back
- 23:47Speaker 1: and listen to those. There's are pretty much evergreen there.
- 23:51Speaker 1: There's no like timing on when you need to listen
- 23:53Speaker 1: to those, So go back and listen to those as
- 23:55Speaker 1: you prep for the next season of The Bachelorette. Well,
- 24:07Speaker 1: we do have headlines. Let's dive into him now. The
- 24:10Speaker 1: first headline is this Bachelor Nation's Kelly Flanagan debused new
- 24:15Speaker 1: romance well after her split with Peter Woo.
- 24:20Speaker 2: It was fast.
- 24:21Speaker 1: It seemed fast.
- 24:22Speaker 2: Maybe it was it seemed faster via Instagram. We'll say
- 24:26Speaker 2: that because they never made an announcement that they had split.
- 24:31Speaker 2: Remember her and Peter, because I think the second dating
- 24:35Speaker 2: time around, which was about when we're like, let's guess
- 24:38Speaker 2: to me, like seven months, I don't know if it
- 24:41Speaker 2: was ever like to the very much exclusive title, and
- 24:45Speaker 2: I think that they just kind of knew that they
- 24:47Speaker 2: were revisiting it for fun. I don't know. I'm also
- 24:49Speaker 2: kind of just like assuming here, okay, and we yeah,
- 24:53Speaker 2: because we never got that official announcement that they broke up.
- 24:56Speaker 2: It seems like it was fast because it went from
- 24:59Speaker 2: just like Instagram with Peter to Instagram post of this guy.
- 25:01Speaker 2: But it was even back in April that Peter was
- 25:05Speaker 2: at an event and he was asked if he was single,
- 25:08Speaker 2: and he said yes. So it's been like over two months,
- 25:11Speaker 2: and yeah, so let's just talk about what we see here.
- 25:14Speaker 2: Kelly is is she in Greece at a wedding? I
- 25:18Speaker 2: think she said it's some formal event, and she's looking
- 25:21Speaker 2: gorgeous and she has this very handsome man on her arm.
- 25:25Speaker 2: And the caption is simply three hearked emojis. But her
- 25:30Speaker 2: mom hilarious, obsessed. Her mom is feeling this couple. Maybe
- 25:35Speaker 2: her mom is happy that she moved on from Peter. Also,
- 25:38Speaker 2: maybe I'm just assuming things and trying to make drama,
- 25:41Speaker 2: but this is what she says underneath the photo. Great
- 25:45Speaker 2: looking couple, best of the lot, guy of my dreams
- 25:50Speaker 2: for my daughter. Greek, Greek, Greek because Kelly is part
- 25:53Speaker 2: Greek and goes, what else can I ask for? He's
- 25:57Speaker 2: a dream vote. That's my generations of describing one great catch.
- 26:03Speaker 2: Go get him, Kelly. We're all behind you.
- 26:06Speaker 1: Goodness, gracious, hilarious, I have it. I'm all for it. However,
- 26:12Speaker 1: this couple better be very serious because if not, if
- 26:16Speaker 1: I'm Ari and I'm reading this, I'm like, we just
- 26:18Speaker 1: started dating two weeks ago, Like I would be like, oh,
- 26:22Speaker 1: there's a lot of pressure on me. But he is
- 26:25Speaker 1: an entrepreneur. He is, uh, Like, who is he?
- 26:30Speaker 2: I was confused because when I first saw this, it
- 26:33Speaker 2: sounded almost like she was paired up with the celebrity
- 26:35Speaker 2: right now, like people seem to have known who he is?
- 26:37Speaker 2: Do am I supposed to know who he is?
- 26:39Speaker 1: I don't think you would know who he is. According
- 26:43Speaker 1: to what I have found, he's definitely an entrepreneur. He's
- 26:48Speaker 1: the founder and CEO of some transportation companies. So I
- 26:55Speaker 1: don't know exactly what he's transporting, but he definitely he
- 27:00Speaker 1: is one hundred percent working at some point in his
- 27:04Speaker 1: life in the marijuana industry, because he was considered a
- 27:10Speaker 1: top forty rising star in the industry. But this was
- 27:15Speaker 1: back The last known article I have on him is
- 27:17Speaker 1: when he was thirty in twenty seventeen.
- 27:19Speaker 2: Oh okay, so what does that make him now? Oh
- 27:22Speaker 2: so he's like thirty seven?
- 27:23Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's Tilaria Transportation was this company, and it
- 27:28Speaker 1: was kind of it was based in medical marijuana back then.
- 27:32Speaker 1: I don't know if they ventured out as you know
- 27:34Speaker 1: marijuanas became more legalized, yeah, recreationally throughout the US. But
- 27:40Speaker 1: he it's a very successful company. At least it was
- 27:44Speaker 1: I would have to do a little more research to
- 27:46Speaker 1: see where they stand now. But he is an entrepreneur,
- 27:48Speaker 1: he is living in that space. Very handsome man. So
- 27:53Speaker 1: good for Kelly. We're always be for Kelly, and we
- 27:57Speaker 1: hope Peter also finds his way to somebody. I'm sure
- 28:00Speaker 1: he's doing just fine.
- 28:02Speaker 2: I heard that Peter may bee flirting with somebody from
- 28:06Speaker 2: some Zech season. But we'll filler, We'll have to, We'll
- 28:12Speaker 2: have to figure that out. Maybe a little busy and
- 28:14Speaker 2: those will be in the headlines next week.
- 28:16Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, next headline is this Bachelor Nation's Haley Ferguson
- 28:19Speaker 1: opens up about emotionally draining failed I UI attempt this
- 28:24Speaker 1: According Las Weekly.
- 28:26Speaker 2: This is really this is like sad so Haley and
- 28:29Speaker 2: her well, it's not sad yet. I mean there's plenty
- 28:32Speaker 2: of hope. There's so much hope ahead of Haley with
- 28:35Speaker 2: this fertility journey that she's on right now. But she's
- 28:39Speaker 2: on one because they've been trying to conceive. I want
- 28:42Speaker 2: to say, it's been close to you or like since
- 28:44Speaker 2: their wedding, you know, like maybe the end of last summer.
- 28:47Speaker 2: And she had to undergo a history a historyoscopy to
- 28:54Speaker 2: remove a pull up that was in her uterus, and
- 28:58Speaker 2: since then she's been the process of starting IUI. So
- 29:02Speaker 2: she describes IUI as kind of like the first step
- 29:05Speaker 2: that they offer before you go to I IVF, and
- 29:08Speaker 2: it's kind of a way, she said, to trigger ovulation
- 29:11Speaker 2: and to get like the perfect timing. So what you
- 29:13Speaker 2: do is you go into the office like at least
- 29:17Speaker 2: I think like three days in a row at a
- 29:19Speaker 2: specific time that they know that like the egg, it's
- 29:23Speaker 2: a perfect time for insemination, right, So they did one
- 29:27Speaker 2: attempt of this, and you're on certain hormones to make
- 29:30Speaker 2: sure that it's also like your body is like prepared
- 29:34Speaker 2: and ready. She's really sad because this one didn't work out,
- 29:38Speaker 2: but she's going to go for another round. And she
- 29:39Speaker 2: says that it actually the odds of it working more.
- 29:45Speaker 2: The odds increase with each time that you do it,
- 29:48Speaker 2: or at least with time two and three, there's a
- 29:52Speaker 2: better chance to be conceiving with those times. She says
- 29:56Speaker 2: on her TikTok that it's an extremely extremely emotionally dreaming
- 30:01Speaker 2: time for her and I'm sure it's not easy. That
- 30:04Speaker 2: she and her sister Emily got married within months of
- 30:07Speaker 2: each other. They got engaged within months of each other,
- 30:10Speaker 2: and now Emily just gave birth to her son, Beckham,
- 30:14Speaker 2: and and now Haley is in this situation where she's
- 30:17Speaker 2: just trying and it's not happening. She says she's gotten
- 30:19Speaker 2: to this point where it seems like she just assumes
- 30:22Speaker 2: that every parnancy test she's gonna take, it's gonna be
- 30:24Speaker 2: a negative. Because she said, like, you know, you just
- 30:28Speaker 2: assume that is not really positive. It's very dreaming, she said,
- 30:30Speaker 2: it's very disappointing, and she's trying to stay very very
- 30:33Speaker 2: super positive because she said, this is a quote the
- 30:36Speaker 2: second round of IUI because your chances, your success rate
- 30:40Speaker 2: goes up a bit higher on your second or third trime.
- 30:42Speaker 2: So that's really that's great uplifting news. And she said
- 30:46Speaker 2: that because of the stuff that she needs to be
- 30:50Speaker 2: on for the process, she's feeling like very bloated and
- 30:53Speaker 2: getting a little awake gain she doesn't feel like herself
- 30:56Speaker 2: and she's not confident in herself right now. What she
- 30:59Speaker 2: all knows is normal to be going through something like this,
- 31:01Speaker 2: but she said that you know, the one thing you
- 31:05Speaker 2: feel like you should be able to do as a
- 31:07Speaker 2: woman is get pregnant, so when it's not happening, she
- 31:09Speaker 2: just says she feels very insecure because of it. But
- 31:13Speaker 2: you know, there's a lot, a lot of a lot
- 31:18Speaker 2: of stuff that they have, you know, that they have
- 31:21Speaker 2: in front of them to attempt. So I'm keeping positive
- 31:24Speaker 2: for them and to Haley. Just my advice is to
- 31:28Speaker 2: stay as positive as you can be as well, because
- 31:31Speaker 2: the more you stress about it. I know it sounds silly,
- 31:34Speaker 2: but it really supposedly affects your body in the way
- 31:38Speaker 2: that like it helps with the conception if you're not stressed.
- 31:42Speaker 1: Sure, yeah, definitely that makes sense. Well, Abigail and Noah,
- 31:47Speaker 1: you know they met on the beach, Abigail Heringer reveals
- 31:52Speaker 1: what caused her hearing loss and if she and Noah
- 31:55Speaker 1: will have deaf children. This according to The Bachelor Nation Ashley,
- 32:00Speaker 1: it's the first time I believe Abigail has opened up
- 32:03Speaker 1: about what actually caused her hearing loss. So it's very
- 32:07Speaker 1: interesting to read this headline.
- 32:09Speaker 2: Okay, So, Abigail has this series on her Instagram. It's
- 32:12Speaker 2: called Hear Me Out, and she talks about her hearing
- 32:14Speaker 2: loss once a week in this video and it's really interesting.
- 32:17Speaker 2: Each week there's something new that she talks about, Like
- 32:19Speaker 2: there's one where she talked about her cochlear implant, and
- 32:23Speaker 2: this week this is what this is what she shared.
- 32:26Speaker 2: Both my sister and I have hearing loss due to
- 32:29Speaker 2: what's called and pardon me for not knowing how to
- 32:32Speaker 2: say this connects in twenty six, right, Well, my mom
- 32:37Speaker 2: and my biological dad were hearing They both carried this
- 32:42Speaker 2: recessive gene. With this recessive gene, there is one a
- 32:46Speaker 2: one and four chance of Rachel and I being born death. Interesting,
- 32:50Speaker 2: so both of them got that one and four chance,
- 32:52Speaker 2: and she goes and the odds just happened to work
- 32:54Speaker 2: that it was twice in a row. She said. Connex
- 33:00Speaker 2: is the most common cause for a profound hearing loss.
- 33:05Speaker 2: It's non it is non syndromeic, meaning that there's no
- 33:12Speaker 2: other medical issues with this mutation except for hearing loss.
- 33:18Speaker 2: My mom didn't do any genetic testing before I was born,
- 33:21Speaker 2: she said. In kindergarten, she eventually underwent genetic testing to
- 33:25Speaker 2: find out what was causing the hearing loss, and that's
- 33:29Speaker 2: when they learned that it was Connex. Twenty six. She
- 33:33Speaker 2: also said, as far as passing on the genetic mutation
- 33:37Speaker 2: to her future children, which do you like the way
- 33:40Speaker 2: that she's referring to her future children With Noah, She
- 33:44Speaker 2: says that when that time comes for us to get
- 33:47Speaker 2: ready to start a family, not anytime soon. He would
- 33:50Speaker 2: need to have the Connex twenty six recessive gene in
- 33:53Speaker 2: order for our child to have the one and four
- 33:56Speaker 2: probability of being born deaf. Some of you guys asked
- 33:59Speaker 2: if we would do the genetic testing beforehand, and we
- 34:01Speaker 2: just decided that wasn't necessary for us. A lot of
- 34:03Speaker 2: parents opt out to do it. A lot of parents
- 34:06Speaker 2: opt to do it to relieve any surprises or to
- 34:09Speaker 2: even help them better prepare. But for us, it was
- 34:11Speaker 2: a personal choice not to do it. No matter how
- 34:14Speaker 2: our child is born deaf or not, will handle it
- 34:18Speaker 2: as a family and we'll go from there.
- 34:19Speaker 1: So they've had these I mean, there's a lot here,
- 34:21Speaker 1: right and it's interesting to learn more, But they've had
- 34:24Speaker 1: these conversations about what they would do. So they're obviously
- 34:27Speaker 1: planning like family planning right now and having conversations about
- 34:31Speaker 1: how they would navigate all this. So feels like, I mean,
- 34:35Speaker 1: not that we ever doubted it, but their relationship is
- 34:37Speaker 1: in a really good spot. And it's also really great
- 34:40Speaker 1: of Abigail to be doing this Instagram series because I'm
- 34:43Speaker 1: sure there's a lot of people out there who you know,
- 34:47Speaker 1: are watching it and feeling like, hey, they can relate
- 34:49Speaker 1: less alone, all those things that are really good for
- 34:52Speaker 1: the social media platforms to be used on. So interesting. Yeah,
- 34:58Speaker 1: there's lots to take from that, including that Noah and
- 35:01Speaker 1: Abigail are talking about kids.
- 35:04Speaker 2: One of the series that I thought was one episode
- 35:06Speaker 2: in the series thought that was interesting was her deaf accent,
- 35:09Speaker 2: which I've never put it, you know, heard it put
- 35:11Speaker 2: like that before. But she says that, you know, the
- 35:13Speaker 2: way that she sounds when she speaks is different when
- 35:16Speaker 2: she has her implant in versus when she has she
- 35:20Speaker 2: has like the hearing aid and when she doesn't.
- 35:23Speaker 1: Yeah, she has a cochlear implant.
- 35:25Speaker 2: She has the cochlear implant. But I do think it's
- 35:28Speaker 2: funny that Beca and Thomas and then Noah and Abigail
- 35:35Speaker 2: are both couples that didn't even leave that season a
- 35:39Speaker 2: Bachelor in Paradise together, But like perhaps it was one
- 35:44Speaker 2: of those situations in which, you know, they weren't ready
- 35:47Speaker 2: to get engaged, so then they were sort.
- 35:49Speaker 1: Of less pressure.
- 35:52Speaker 2: See yeah, they were like, if you're not getting engaged,
- 35:54Speaker 2: to get out of here, right. But now since there
- 35:56Speaker 2: is less pressure in the real world and they can
- 35:58Speaker 2: like really grow that relationship naturally, it's two possible marriages
- 36:08Speaker 2: and babies coming out on for those.
- 36:09Speaker 1: Sounds like it, Well, that's all the headlines we have
- 36:12Speaker 1: for you. Do again. This is the last week before
- 36:16Speaker 1: the premiere of Charity season of The Bachelorette. We're gonna
- 36:19Speaker 1: be breaking down everything. We're excited, We're ready. We hope
- 36:22Speaker 1: you watch. Charity is going to be an incredible Bachelorette.
- 36:26Speaker 1: I believe. I believe her cast will rise to the
- 36:28Speaker 1: occasion because the show needs them to. It has to
- 36:32Speaker 1: have a good season. I think this is gonna be
- 36:33Speaker 1: a really good season to watch. So we hope you
- 36:36Speaker 1: watch and then tune in every week to break it
- 36:38Speaker 1: down with us. We'll keep you up to date on
- 36:41Speaker 1: all the headlines, all the news, all the goss, hot goss.
