- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome to Dirty Rush, the truth about sorority life, with
- 0:04Speaker 1: your hosts, me, Gia Giudice.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Daisy Kent, and Jennifer Kessler. Hi, everybody. This is a
- 0:16Speaker 2: juicy one. This is a juicy one. Okay, so this
- 0:19Speaker 2: is what I would call this dirty. This is a
- 0:21Speaker 2: dirty rush, dirty rush. So we have someone here who
- 0:25Speaker 2: will remain nameless. She is a senior. at a college
- 0:31Speaker 2: on the West Coast. I will say that. I also
- 0:33Speaker 2: will say she is in the middle of rush. So
- 0:35Speaker 2: we grabbed her. It's bid day today. We grabbed her
- 0:40Speaker 2: out and we're going to get all the dirty dirt.
- 0:43Speaker 2: You are in a top house. I would argue you're
- 0:46Speaker 2: in the top house at your school. Some people could
- 0:48Speaker 2: argue there's probably two. Would you say there's two or
- 0:50Speaker 2: three top houses?
- 0:51Speaker 3: I would say there's one other one that's up there
- 0:53Speaker 3: with us.
- 0:53Speaker 2: That's considered the top two. And then would you say
- 0:56Speaker 2: there's two more that are sort of right below?
- 0:58Speaker 3: Yes.
- 0:59Speaker 2: I will say the names of those four houses and
- 1:01Speaker 2: you won't know what house she's in. Kappa, Alpha Phi,
- 1:03Speaker 2: Pi Phi, DG?
- 1:04Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:06Speaker 2: So she's in the top two of those four, whatever
- 1:09Speaker 2: you consider those to be. It is the middle of Rush.
- 1:12Speaker 2: And we're going to get the inside track of what's happening.
- 1:15Speaker 2: So first, let's quickly go through The days. So Rush
- 1:19Speaker 2: goes for about a week at your school. She's counting,
- 1:22Speaker 2: counting on her fingers. Five. College student, counting on her fingers.
- 1:25Speaker 2: So five days. And the first two days, they go
- 1:28Speaker 2: to all the houses. Then what's the third day? Sisterhood.
- 1:32Speaker 2: And what happens on sisterhood?
- 1:34Speaker 1: Sisterhood is where they go. The PNMs go from 12
- 1:37Speaker 1: houses to nine houses. So we rank them. They rank us.
- 1:40Speaker 3: Sisterhood is house tours. So that's fun.
- 1:44Speaker 2: So that's when they go and they see the houses. Yes.
- 1:46Speaker 2: And I always think that certain houses have an advantage
- 1:49Speaker 2: that don't have super gnarly sleeping porches, but we can
- 1:53Speaker 2: get into that another time. So then what's on the
- 1:55Speaker 2: fourth day?
- 1:56Speaker 3: Fourth day is philo.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Okay. So this is strange that you guys call it philo.
- 2:01Speaker 2: So I think for people that don't know, that's philanthropy.
- 2:06Speaker 2: So this is where you share the charity or the
- 2:10Speaker 2: organization that is passionate to your sorority. In this case,
- 2:14Speaker 2: Kappa Alpha Phi DG Pi Phi. Okay, so you've told
- 2:17Speaker 2: me previously, and I know this secret person, what makes
- 2:22Speaker 2: your sorority so strong on Philo Day? Philo Day. Philo Day.
- 2:30Speaker 1: For us with our chapter, our chapter is very universal.
- 2:33Speaker 1: And they also like these philanthropies, they're nationwide. So at every-
- 2:37Speaker 1: So at every Kappa, it's this thing. At every DG,
- 2:39Speaker 1: it's this thing. At every Pi Phi, it's this thing.
- 2:41Speaker 1: At every Alpha Phi, it's this thing.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Yes. So say somebody's charity could be breast cancer. So
- 2:46Speaker 2: across the whole country, that sorority focuses on breast cancer
- 2:52Speaker 2: as their initiative.
- 2:54Speaker 1: So Kappa is mental health. A Phi is heart health
- 2:57Speaker 1: for women. Pi Phi is literacy for children. It goes
- 3:01Speaker 1: and not the same every year.
- 3:02Speaker 3: No.
- 3:03Speaker 2: So this is sort of for a decade at a time.
- 3:06Speaker 3: Right.
- 3:06Speaker 1: So below day, I remember when I was doing it
- 3:10Speaker 1: as like as a PNM, you know, you go into
- 3:13Speaker 1: each house and. From my perspective, there were some houses
- 3:17Speaker 1: that definitely just felt like they were doing their philo
- 3:20Speaker 1: because it was required.
- 3:21Speaker 3: It wasn't anything that they really cared about.
- 3:23Speaker 1: It was just like, this is required from us by
- 3:26Speaker 1: Panhellenic and we have to raise excess money. We have
- 3:30Speaker 1: to do two events a year and this is what
- 3:33Speaker 1: we're going to do and that's about it. And sometimes
- 3:36Speaker 1: it can be a little bit of a snooze when
- 3:37Speaker 1: you're at these houses and they're giving their presentations and
- 3:40Speaker 1: it's just no one cares. No one's affected by anything.
- 3:43Speaker 1: No one like, has any passion going really towards it.
- 3:46Speaker 1: It just seems like something that we have to do.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Yeah, because from a bird's eye view, it does seem dull. Look,
- 3:53Speaker 2: this is where we keep it real. I think philanthropy
- 3:57Speaker 2: is very important. I think being charitable is very important.
- 4:00Speaker 2: As a college freshman, I think I would think, well,
- 4:02Speaker 2: this is dull or wah, wah, wah, kind of like
- 4:06Speaker 2: I'm just hearing it. So what makes it so special
- 4:09Speaker 2: at your house where it actually helps you win?
- 4:13Speaker 1: For our house, what we do, so we actually have
- 4:17Speaker 1: two philanthropies. We have one that's on campus and then
- 4:20Speaker 1: we have one that's national.
- 4:22Speaker 2: Okay.
- 4:22Speaker 1: So for the one that we do on campus, it was,
- 4:26Speaker 1: it's something for an alumni that we had. And we
- 4:29Speaker 1: share a really emotional video that we've made, that we've
- 4:32Speaker 1: used over the years.
- 4:33Speaker 2: And that kind of- That's girls from your school or
- 4:36Speaker 2: more national? From our school. Okay, cool. That's from our school.
- 4:39Speaker 1: And then for our second philo, which is our national philo,
- 4:42Speaker 1: we have one of our girls who was our philanthropy
- 4:45Speaker 1: chair last year come up and do a speech about
- 4:48Speaker 1: how she was very personally affected by what our philo
- 4:52Speaker 1: fights for.
- 4:53Speaker 3: A cause for, basically.
- 4:55Speaker 1: And very, very emotional, tearjerker story because it's just.
- 5:02Speaker 3: It's true. It's true and it's real and you can
- 5:05Speaker 3: see that.
- 5:08Speaker 1: I think it catches the PNM's attention that this isn't
- 5:11Speaker 1: just something that we're required to do. And it then
- 5:14Speaker 1: allows them to connect more with us and be something
- 5:17Speaker 1: that's more vulnerable.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Go beyond the surface. What's your major? Where'd you go
- 5:21Speaker 2: to high school?
- 5:22Speaker 3: Right.
- 5:22Speaker 2: And what dorm are you in to something that's like real?
- 5:25Speaker 1: Yeah. So for, and for us too, like we always say,
- 5:27Speaker 1: like when we start off with the two unity days
- 5:30Speaker 1: and sisterhood, like those are more traditional surface level days
- 5:34Speaker 1: where you're having more.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Cookie cutter conversations.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Then for us, when we go into philo and we
- 5:40Speaker 1: go into prep, that's when we're vamping things up. I
- 5:43Speaker 1: would say other houses, that's when they're starting to lose
- 5:45Speaker 1: momentum because they're not really connecting with their PNMs by
- 5:49Speaker 1: the time that philo hits and it's kind of a
- 5:52Speaker 1: snooze fest.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Okay. So then the fifth day, which was last night
- 5:58Speaker 2: for you at this mystery, mystery school was prep night.
- 6:03Speaker 2: So how would you describe pref night? Like what is, what,
- 6:06Speaker 2: what happens that night? Give sort of a little bit of,
- 6:09Speaker 2: you know, explanation.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Pref night for us is we really solidly say that
- 6:15Speaker 1: every single girl that comes back to pref and makes
- 6:18Speaker 1: it that far are girls that we want.
- 6:20Speaker 2: So say a hundred, can you even give me a
- 6:22Speaker 2: ballpark number? So do you have, you have two parties
- 6:25Speaker 2: on pref night?
- 6:25Speaker 1: Four.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Four.
- 6:28Speaker 3: Oh, because we have, you have four, four P and
- 6:31Speaker 3: F go to two.
- 6:32Speaker 2: So how many about at every party? 50?
- 6:36Speaker 3: No, like- Less. Maybe 30.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Okay. So say there's about 120 girls then. So 30, 30, 30, 30.
- 6:45Speaker 2: And would you say for the most part, you would
- 6:50Speaker 2: be happy with all 120 of those girls? So at
- 6:52Speaker 2: that point, they're down to it. You pretty much want them.
- 6:56Speaker 2: And now it's putting them on the top of the
- 6:58Speaker 2: list or the is that how you guys do it?
- 7:01Speaker 2: The way it was in my day is like, say
- 7:03Speaker 2: there's one to 120 and the list goes and your top,
- 7:07Speaker 2: top 50 are the top 50. And then the second
- 7:10Speaker 2: half is your next. And then so on.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Ours for us, how it works now is you have
- 7:16Speaker 1: these things called prep points. And this is every, every
- 7:19Speaker 1: chapter you have are given six prep points and you
- 7:22Speaker 1: can give a prep point to a girl that you
- 7:24Speaker 1: either have a connection score with, which I'll explain or,
- 7:29Speaker 1: Or you talk to them at some point during recruitment.
- 7:32Speaker 3: It could have been you talk to them on Unity Day.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Every current girl in the house gets six?
- 7:37Speaker 3: Yes. Oh, wow.
- 7:38Speaker 2: This is so different.
- 7:38Speaker 3: Okay. Yeah. So every girl.
- 7:40Speaker 2: And you have to figure out how to spend your six.
- 7:43Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:43Speaker 1: I mean, normally you even actually don't end up using
- 7:47Speaker 1: all six because.
- 7:49Speaker 1: A lot of girls don't make it back that you
- 7:51Speaker 1: had talked to in the beginning. I mean, you have
- 7:53Speaker 1: to think of like, we started with 1,500 PMS.
- 7:55Speaker 3: Right, right, right. And now we're down to 120.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Would you give all six of your prep points to
- 8:00Speaker 2: one girl? No. Oh, you have to spread it out.
- 8:02Speaker 3: You have to spread it out. A max one, so.
- 8:04Speaker 1: And before recruitment starts, you have something called a connection
- 8:07Speaker 1: score where you are given the entire list of all
- 8:10Speaker 1: the PNMs that come in. And if you have a
- 8:13Speaker 1: connection to them, you went to high school with them.
- 8:15Speaker 1: If they're from your hometown, if they're a family friend,
- 8:17Speaker 1: whatever it is, you can give them a preference point.
- 8:20Speaker 1: And because you.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Have a connection score with them. By the way, anyone listening,
- 8:24Speaker 2: this is so confusing. And the way we used to
- 8:26Speaker 2: do it is so much easier. This is like a mess,
- 8:29Speaker 2: but okay. So you've got your monopoly money and you're
- 8:31Speaker 2: spending your $ 6 on Okay. So then you say, I'm
- 8:35Speaker 2: going to give Mary a dollar. I'm going to give
- 8:38Speaker 2: Sally a point. I'm going to give Susie a dollar.
- 8:41Speaker 2: I'm going to give Paige a dollar and I'm going
- 8:43Speaker 2: to give Molly a dollar.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Let's say, so let's say that you, it's preference night
- 8:49Speaker 1: and you don't see a single girl that you talk
- 8:50Speaker 1: to from recruitment. None of them, none of them made
- 8:53Speaker 1: it back.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Okay.
- 8:54Speaker 3: Then it's, I have six preference points. What do I do?
- 8:57Speaker 1: What we do then on Pref is you allow drop-ins.
- 9:00Speaker 1: You can do max two drop-ins where you can go
- 9:03Speaker 1: drop in on a PNM and.
- 9:06Speaker 3: Their Pref buddy.
- 9:07Speaker 2: To meet them.
- 9:07Speaker 3: To meet them so that you can give them a
- 9:09Speaker 3: Pref point.
- 9:10Speaker 2: But you can only do it to two people.
- 9:11Speaker 3: You can only do it.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Each party?
- 9:14Speaker 3: Each party.
- 9:15Speaker 2: For people listening, it's so like, look, I get it.
- 9:17Speaker 2: It's like, huh? All right, so let's try to like
- 9:21Speaker 2: help people here. So Pref night's happening and- typically two
- 9:28Speaker 2: girls prep a girl. Is that right?
- 9:31Speaker 1: You have two, one girl will prep one PNM. And
- 9:34Speaker 1: then once those two run off to their room together, one-on-one, one-on-one.
- 9:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Once those PNM and active run to a room together,
- 9:44Speaker 1: they chit chat for a while. Then there'll be two
- 9:47Speaker 1: other girls that are active.
- 9:50Speaker 3: And they will go and drop in, in the room.
- 9:53Speaker 2: So, so we, and, I can't reveal, but this secret
- 9:58Speaker 2: person and I are in a similar sorority. I'll say
- 10:02Speaker 2: that much. So we had two-on-one prepping. And in my case,
- 10:08Speaker 2: I knew both of them. They were both hometown people.
- 10:12Speaker 2: So that I think also is more rare, right? Because
- 10:17Speaker 2: you would... typically meet have met the person that that
- 10:20Speaker 2: week right yeah.
- 10:21Speaker 1: You typically don't we typically want to avoid you prepping
- 10:25Speaker 1: someone just because you're hometown people that's more a thing
- 10:30Speaker 1: of you can drop in but you shouldn't be the
- 10:32Speaker 1: main prep person as I would say that more so
- 10:35Speaker 1: if you're a junior or senior got it I mean.
- 10:38Speaker 2: Yeah and look on on prep I went to Kappa
- 10:42Speaker 2: DG and Tridel and at Kappa, I knew both people.
- 10:47Speaker 2: At DG, I knew both people. And at Tridel, they
- 10:50Speaker 2: were new. I didn't know them, but I kind of
- 10:53Speaker 2: knew people they knew. So I think back in the day,
- 10:56Speaker 2: it was more common that you would actually pref the
- 10:58Speaker 2: person you knew from growing up or high school or
- 11:01Speaker 2: family or whatever. Okay, so tell me a little bit
- 11:06Speaker 2: about Pref Night. You've got this girl in the room.
- 11:09Speaker 2: What kind of stuff are you now saying to her?
- 11:11Speaker 3: Craft night for us is night.
- 11:12Speaker 2: We have to be one-on-one. For some reason, I thought
- 11:14Speaker 2: you weren't allowed to ever be one-on-one with a person
- 11:16Speaker 2: in the room, but I'm using that. So you can be,
- 11:21Speaker 2: and you go into the bedrooms.
- 11:22Speaker 3: Yes.
- 11:23Speaker 2: And do you sit on the balcony? No.
- 11:26Speaker 3: That's too out in the open.
- 11:27Speaker 2: If your house has a balcony.
- 11:29Speaker 3: Okay.
- 11:30Speaker 2: So you're in the room with the girl. And what
- 11:33Speaker 2: kind of stuff are you saying to her now at
- 11:34Speaker 2: this point?
- 11:34Speaker 1: I think this is a point now where you can
- 11:37Speaker 1: talk about the untraditional things that you aren't supposed to
- 11:40Speaker 1: talk about.
- 11:41Speaker 3: During recruitment such as going out like um the fun
- 11:46Speaker 3: events that you guys do together of like if you
- 11:49Speaker 3: guys do something with like this frat house.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Invite talking about bullies you're talking.
- 11:53Speaker 1: About like what people like to say like the five
- 11:56Speaker 1: b's so you're going to talk about those things and
- 11:58Speaker 1: it's mainly just because this is a night where like
- 12:02Speaker 1: we're fighting for them we need to convince them that
- 12:04Speaker 1: they should be in this house and not the one
- 12:06Speaker 1: other house that they're prepping So if that involves us
- 12:10Speaker 1: making a PowerPoint and showing them like the unhinged photos
- 12:14Speaker 1: of how we actually are once they join the sorority,
- 12:18Speaker 1: then that's going to help. And that's more enticing and
- 12:20Speaker 1: that gets them more excited.
- 12:21Speaker 2: This point now, here's my hot take on Rush. All
- 12:25Speaker 2: through the week, it's advantage house, especially top houses, right?
- 12:30Speaker 2: The house really has the advantage. On pref night, it
- 12:33Speaker 2: really flips, in my opinion. Now the girl has the advantage,
- 12:36Speaker 2: especially if she's going to two top houses, because that
- 12:39Speaker 2: means these houses are now fighting for her. And she's
- 12:42Speaker 2: kind of in pole position where she really is going
- 12:45Speaker 2: to pick. So what happens is after last night, they
- 12:47Speaker 2: come and it went late, right? You went to like
- 12:49Speaker 2: 11 o'clock at night.
- 12:51Speaker 3: So late. I don't think I was home till like 12.
- 12:53Speaker 2: Because school is also, you're good doing school.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Yeah, we do every part, every round after school. So
- 12:58Speaker 1: it's like, you start at like six.
- 12:59Speaker 2: So you have these parties, the girls leave and they
- 13:03Speaker 2: go wherever they go and they write down number one,
- 13:06Speaker 2: number two. So if they went to DG and Kappa,
- 13:10Speaker 2: they put whatever their top choice is and whatever their
- 13:12Speaker 2: second choice is. And somehow- Through the algorithm, through Panhellenic,
- 13:17Speaker 2: there's some sort of everything enters into a computer. This
- 13:20Speaker 2: is my archaic way of explaining it. And the computer
- 13:23Speaker 2: figures out the matches because it wants to get the girls.
- 13:27Speaker 2: They're number one. Right.
- 13:28Speaker 3: It's in the PNF's favor. Yeah.
- 13:30Speaker 2: And so if you're anywhere in the top list or
- 13:33Speaker 2: these points in our day, it was like a list.
- 13:37Speaker 2: and you match, you're going to get your first choice.
- 13:39Speaker 2: They want to give you your first choice at that point.
- 13:41Speaker 2: This is where like when people call me and they're like,
- 13:43Speaker 2: should I suicide? Excuse the word, but that's what people
- 13:46Speaker 2: call it. I usually say no.
- 13:50Speaker 3: No, I normally recommend to not suicide.
- 13:54Speaker 2: Second house is a house that you literally will not,
- 13:56Speaker 2: you'll turn it down.
- 13:57Speaker 1: I still even say, even if you do have a
- 14:02Speaker 1: higher rank house and a lower rank house, and you're
- 14:04Speaker 1: going into that on prep, It is really best to
- 14:08Speaker 1: just put that as your number one.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. Okay, so the girls leave and if we're
- 14:28Speaker 2: repeating stuff, sorry, it's just so confusing. It's like everyone listening.
- 14:31Speaker 2: I feel like you'd just be like, huh?
- 14:33Speaker 3: So.
- 14:34Speaker 2: You now know the girls that are coming to your
- 14:37Speaker 2: house tonight for bid day. They don't know yet, but
- 14:41Speaker 2: you all get a list, and I'm sure this is
- 14:43Speaker 2: true of every house in your school. They know the
- 14:45Speaker 2: girls that are coming, probably so you can prepare, but
- 14:49Speaker 2: they don't find out till like five o'clock, right? So five, 5.30,
- 14:52Speaker 2: whatever it is. Do they open an envelope or how
- 14:55Speaker 2: do they find out? They open an actual physical old
- 14:57Speaker 2: school envelope.
- 14:58Speaker 3: Yes.
- 14:58Speaker 2: And then do they run right over?
- 15:00Speaker 1: Yeah, they, they run right on home. All the frats
- 15:03Speaker 1: will be holding up signs.
- 15:04Speaker 3: Really? Well, the top house is that.
- 15:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:07Speaker 3: So what happens?
- 15:08Speaker 2: The fraternity boys are out there like, yay, DG, yay.
- 15:12Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Whoever, whatever house you're tight with, they'll be holding out signs.
- 15:17Speaker 1: We do another thing too, where we have sports teams
- 15:21Speaker 1: come out and hold signs like in front of our house.
- 15:23Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:23Speaker 1: We'll have like baseball and water polo. They'll all be
- 15:26Speaker 1: holding our house signs.
- 15:28Speaker 2: Welcome to DJ. Welcome to Kappa. Welcome to Pi Phi. Oh, cute. Cute.
- 15:33Speaker 2: And then there's sort of a girls only party, right?
- 15:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:35Speaker 1: Then everyone disperses and then you all go into the house.
- 15:38Speaker 3: And do you have dinner? A day party. I don't remember.
- 15:42Speaker 3: I think so. We have like.
- 15:44Speaker 2: You figure if it's six o'clock.
- 15:45Speaker 3: Yeah. You have like, we have like catering things. Yeah. Yeah.
- 15:48Speaker 2: And then how late does it go tonight?
- 15:51Speaker 3: I think till like 10.
- 15:52Speaker 2: But you're still not allowed to go out. You're not
- 15:54Speaker 2: allowed to go to fraternities yet, or you are?
- 15:56Speaker 3: You're not allowed to go to fraternities yet.
- 15:58Speaker 1: I mean, I'm a senior, so we're going to go out,
- 16:00Speaker 1: but we're not going out to the frat parties. But
- 16:02Speaker 1: they're supposed to be dry until tomorrow at 8 a.m.
- 16:06Speaker 2: Okay, so today's Tuesday. So bid day's on Tuesday. So
- 16:09Speaker 2: starting tomorrow, Wednesday, you could go.
- 16:12Speaker 3: You can go on frat property.
- 16:14Speaker 2: You can go on some of this on a Saturday,
- 16:16Speaker 2: but it's too late. Okay, so then, and then this weekend,
- 16:20Speaker 2: there's parties.
- 16:21Speaker 3: Yeah, this weekend's game day. So there's a big weekend.
- 16:24Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. So that's a lot of schools. Okay,
- 16:28Speaker 2: so do you typically think that most of the girls
- 16:34Speaker 2: get their first choice? Is there a lot, like, how
- 16:37Speaker 2: often does a girl get her second choice? I.
- 16:42Speaker 1: I have to admit, I have one, my roommate, she,
- 16:45Speaker 1: I didn't know this about her, but she put down
- 16:48Speaker 1: 80 pie, which was a lower ranked house at my
- 16:52Speaker 1: school and put them first and actually put a fee
- 16:57Speaker 1: second and then ended up in it and ended up
- 17:00Speaker 1: in a fee.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Oh, interesting.
- 17:02Speaker 3: Okay.
- 17:03Speaker 2: Okay. Interesting.
- 17:04Speaker 3: So, I mean, It's really hard to determine. That is
- 17:07Speaker 3: a strange. It's so confusing with the algorithm and the
- 17:11Speaker 3: prep point.
- 17:11Speaker 2: That's very strange that that happened.
- 17:14Speaker 3: Yeah. And I were always like, when were you going
- 17:17Speaker 3: to be an 80 pie? Like that makes zero sense.
- 17:19Speaker 2: And then you wanted to get 80 pie.
- 17:21Speaker 3: Yeah. No, she didn't get it.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Cause I, and that just means that they didn't rank
- 17:25Speaker 1: her high. They didn't give her enough prep points to
- 17:28Speaker 1: be at a higher part of the list for the cutoff.
- 17:31Speaker 3: I mean, we cut off at 50 PNMs. Yeah.
- 17:33Speaker 2: Is that what your pledge class size is most likely 50,
- 17:36Speaker 2: 50 girls?
- 17:37Speaker 3: Pretty 50 cut off. Yeah.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Okay.
- 17:39Speaker 2: Interesting. And nobody moves right in. They all live in somewhere.
- 17:42Speaker 2: Nobody typically.
- 17:43Speaker 3: No, no, no. They, they live in the dorms until
- 17:45Speaker 3: sophomore year. So, okay.
- 17:47Speaker 2: So back on like prep, how far will you push it?
- 17:53Speaker 2: And also we'll talk about this situation. And again, if
- 17:57Speaker 2: we're repeating, I apologize. So I know some girls going
- 18:01Speaker 2: through Rush. They're friends' kids, right? Because obviously I'm old.
- 18:04Speaker 2: So my mom friends have daughters going through Rush at
- 18:09Speaker 2: your school. So what I was wondering is, obviously, we're
- 18:14Speaker 2: not going to pretend I don't know them. You're not
- 18:16Speaker 2: going to pretend I don't know them. Is it considered
- 18:19Speaker 2: dirty Rush that I've been asking you questions? I know
- 18:24Speaker 2: what they like. I might be telling you what they like.
- 18:27Speaker 2: You might be telling me, oh, they're still on the list.
- 18:30Speaker 2: We're careful about it, but I don't know where I
- 18:34Speaker 2: draw the line on, is that dirty rush? I mean, frankly,
- 18:37Speaker 2: I don't care.
- 18:39Speaker 3: I think dirty rush is really only applicable if it
- 18:42Speaker 3: actually is impacting the PNM and how far she moves
- 18:48Speaker 3: up within the house.
- 18:49Speaker 2: Dirty rush is also like, say Alpha Phi was like,
- 18:53Speaker 2: we're giving you a bid. You should put us first.
- 18:55Speaker 2: And if you're splitting with Kappa, they're not going to
- 18:57Speaker 2: put you first. So you won't get them. That seems
- 18:59Speaker 2: very dirty.
- 18:59Speaker 3: I think like with our situation, if it's a girl.
- 19:04Speaker 1: That I hadn't even met and I hadn't even talked
- 19:06Speaker 1: to her and my say literally means nothing. And I
- 19:08Speaker 1: literally can't even vote on her to be like ranked
- 19:12Speaker 1: up higher in the house.
- 19:13Speaker 3: Then it's not even applicable to being dirty. Right.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Like, could you have done a drop in with my girls.
- 19:18Speaker 3: That I only if she knew me?
- 19:20Speaker 2: You're not allowed to drop into a random. No. You
- 19:23Speaker 2: can only drop into like a hometown connection. Yes.
- 19:27Speaker 3: It needs to be someone that you know. And our
- 19:30Speaker 3: basement girls, the girls who.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Tell me about this basement. Everyone talks about these basement girls.
- 19:35Speaker 2: We didn't have this. What are they doing down there?
- 19:37Speaker 1: So the basement girls are the ones that are navigating
- 19:39Speaker 1: the entire algorithmic system.
- 19:43Speaker 3: And the vote, like the entire voting process.
- 19:46Speaker 2: Do you think there's ever a time... Okay, and try
- 19:48Speaker 2: to tell the truth.
- 19:49Speaker 3: No.
- 19:51Speaker 2: Somebody in that basement is shoving a girl higher than
- 19:56Speaker 2: the votes? Like, does hinky stuff ever go on in
- 19:59Speaker 2: that basement?
- 20:01Speaker 3: It's so locked down by Panhellenic.
- 20:04Speaker 2: But there's no Panhellenic rep in there. No, but it's
- 20:07Speaker 2: all on a system and a computer. So it's... Right,
- 20:09Speaker 2: but what would prevent... So say some girl, Jane Smith, is...
- 20:14Speaker 2: Say you know she wants your house and she's like
- 20:17Speaker 2: number 52 on the list. Can you ever like... Do
- 20:20Speaker 2: you think those basement girls go... Just slide her up there?
- 20:24Speaker 3: When I say it's so... And I like literally wish
- 20:27Speaker 3: that could like... You could get in there like that.
- 20:30Speaker 2: It doesn't work.
- 20:31Speaker 3: It's so mathematically calculated to where you can... How do
- 20:36Speaker 3: I explain this?
- 20:36Speaker 1: You can look and see that this girl talked to
- 20:40Speaker 1: two people. If she has three votes, you already know
- 20:43Speaker 1: you're busted for that.
- 20:44Speaker 3: And then boom, you can get fined. You can get
- 20:47Speaker 3: without it.
- 20:48Speaker 2: The girls can get in trouble. Right.
- 20:49Speaker 3: The girls can get in trouble for that.
- 20:50Speaker 1: And it's like their entire job is to calculate and
- 20:54Speaker 1: make sure that one PNM is talking to two girls.
- 20:57Speaker 1: And by the end of the entire party, they know
- 20:59Speaker 1: the number that they're going to hit on votes. And
- 21:02Speaker 1: if that number is out of whack, You can't, you
- 21:05Speaker 1: can't do it.
- 21:05Speaker 2: Here's what I'm going to say. And I'm going to
- 21:06Speaker 2: just say this. The part that I don't like about
- 21:08Speaker 2: the new system versus the old days is you in
- 21:13Speaker 2: the old days, if you knew the person from home,
- 21:17Speaker 2: you could vote on them. Even if you didn't talk
- 21:19Speaker 2: to them that day, even if you didn't see them,
- 21:21Speaker 2: you can vote on them because you know them and
- 21:23Speaker 2: you know, to give them, I think we were one, three, five.
- 21:26Speaker 2: One was like, five was thumbs up. Three was bring
- 21:30Speaker 2: her back again. I'm not sure.
- 21:32Speaker 3: Right.
- 21:32Speaker 2: This is what I remember. But say I knew someone
- 21:35Speaker 2: from high school, I could just give them a five.
- 21:38Speaker 2: So with us, it's like they only met two people.
- 21:41Speaker 2: You could get like a hundred votes if the whole
- 21:43Speaker 2: house wanted you.
- 21:45Speaker 3: For us, it's technically, it's supposed to be one through 10.
- 21:49Speaker 3: And every- You've had.
- 21:50Speaker 2: Two, three, four, five, or just one or 10?
- 21:52Speaker 1: So I've learned with other houses that they can do one, two, three, four, five,
- 21:56Speaker 1: whatever to 10. Our house, because we have such a
- 21:59Speaker 1: high retention rate and because- If you want to say
- 22:02Speaker 1: it's because we're a top house and every single girl
- 22:05Speaker 1: that we want normally is always coming back, we either
- 22:07Speaker 1: vote them a zero or a 10.
- 22:09Speaker 2: So for people listening, that means basically this house because
- 22:12Speaker 2: it's a top house. Say they invite back 100 girls. Typically,
- 22:15Speaker 2: all 100 will say yes to coming back to that house.
- 22:18Speaker 2: But there are other houses that invite 100 girls, but
- 22:21Speaker 2: only 30 come back. So that's why you guys can
- 22:24Speaker 2: be a little bit more.
- 22:25Speaker 3: We can be a little bit more selective. And it's
- 22:29Speaker 3: kind of for us.
- 22:30Speaker 1: Every single girl that gets our house back, they got
- 22:33Speaker 1: a 10 every single.
- 22:34Speaker 3: Day from every single girl.
- 22:36Speaker 2: That's why by prep night, you know that you'll take
- 22:38Speaker 2: any of them.
- 22:39Speaker 1: Right.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Interesting. It's so like, wow. All right. So before we go,
- 22:47Speaker 2: what else sort of happened this week? Like, are any
- 22:50Speaker 2: of the boys ever calling from the fraternities and saying like, hey,
- 22:54Speaker 2: this girl's great. Watch out for her. Or like, what
- 22:57Speaker 2: do you think impacts the most? other than just the
- 23:00Speaker 2: girl meeting the girl right is it a phone call
- 23:02Speaker 2: from the boy is it a phone call from your
- 23:05Speaker 2: friend from high school that knows like what would impact
- 23:09Speaker 2: you sort of pushing a girl up the list or
- 23:12Speaker 2: giving her a higher vote you.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Don't know if that's technically i can give a story
- 23:17Speaker 1: of when we're here for it yeah i i don't
- 23:19Speaker 1: know if that's necessarily applicable i mean it's so um
- 23:24Speaker 1: I just think nowadays recruitment has to be so on
- 23:27Speaker 1: lockdown just because everything nowadays is considered bit promising. I mean,
- 23:31Speaker 1: if I point on a girl, if I wink at
- 23:34Speaker 1: a girl, Oh my gosh.
- 23:37Speaker 3: Everything. Yeah. Don't, don't let them walk away with a cup.
- 23:40Speaker 3: If they, it's, It's a nightmare.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Crazy.
- 23:43Speaker 1: But I can share that I remember from when I
- 23:47Speaker 1: did recruitment and.
- 23:49Speaker 2: So you were the rushie.
- 23:50Speaker 1: I was the rushie and I did recruitment later. I
- 23:52Speaker 1: did recruitment as a sophomore. So I was walking into
- 23:54Speaker 1: these houses and knowing a lot of the girls already.
- 23:57Speaker 1: And that was definitely.
- 23:59Speaker 3: a very different perspective because you kind of are already
- 24:01Speaker 3: walking in and you know what the top houses are.
- 24:04Speaker 1: You know what they're known for. Like, Pi Phi is
- 24:07Speaker 1: known for being the very nice and sweet girls. Kappa
- 24:09Speaker 1: is known for being very classy. AP is known for being, like,
- 24:13Speaker 1: more the loud party people. It really depends on your house.
- 24:17Speaker 1: So I remember coming in and I kind of knew
- 24:19Speaker 1: what I wanted, basically. And I was going through it
- 24:23Speaker 1: and everything was going well and I was getting all
- 24:26Speaker 1: the houses that I wanted back and I was really
- 24:27Speaker 1: happy about it. And there was a house that I
- 24:33Speaker 1: had a really close hometown friend in and she would
- 24:36Speaker 1: text me throughout the week.
- 24:38Speaker 3: I hope you're doing really well. How is it going?
- 24:41Speaker 1: And it kind of was, it was like, these are
- 24:44Speaker 1: the houses that I'm getting back. And she would see
- 24:46Speaker 1: me come back the next day and she would know.
- 24:48Speaker 1: And like, I would get my list back and I
- 24:50Speaker 1: would text her of like, are.
- 24:51Speaker 2: You supposed to be texting her?
- 24:52Speaker 3: No, no. But I, but it's because it's like, let's
- 24:56Speaker 3: I get it yeah the rules get so stupid that
- 24:58Speaker 3: you're like let me just text him I would text
- 25:00Speaker 3: him like I'm about to come to this house okay
- 25:02Speaker 3: great I make it through philo and I'm about to
- 25:06Speaker 3: go vote on the houses that I'm gonna put as
- 25:08Speaker 3: my two because you go from six houses to two
- 25:10Speaker 3: houses yeah that's a gnarly drop you have to.
- 25:11Speaker 2: Cut a lot of people off yeah and for the
- 25:15Speaker 2: rushes right because a lot you're going from six to
- 25:18Speaker 2: two that that's the worst.
- 25:20Speaker 1: Drop that's the worst drop and yeah it It's definitely daunting,
- 25:24Speaker 1: especially when you have- You.
- 25:25Speaker 2: Can go from having a great experience to like, oh no.
- 25:28Speaker 1: Yeah, because I remember for me, I had two top houses.
- 25:32Speaker 1: I had two mid houses. And then I had two
- 25:34Speaker 1: like very, very bottom houses. And that's just simply because
- 25:38Speaker 1: you're being really nice. And like you have to be
- 25:41Speaker 1: nice to everyone or else it's considered dead fishing.
- 25:44Speaker 2: Oh, I've heard about this dead fishing. We've talked about
- 25:46Speaker 2: that before. I find that to be the dumbest thing
- 25:48Speaker 2: I've ever heard in my life. That did not exist
- 25:50Speaker 2: in my day. It should go away. It's so stupid.
- 25:53Speaker 2: We'll do that. We'll talk about dead fishing again another day.
- 25:56Speaker 2: I'm like horrified by that.
- 25:57Speaker 3: But yeah, it's really horrible.
- 26:00Speaker 2: When I learned about that, I said that can't be true.
- 26:03Speaker 3: Yeah, it's awful. And just with my school- It's also
- 26:07Speaker 3: just disgusting.
- 26:09Speaker 1: There was a house that would have 30 girls missing
- 26:11Speaker 1: from a party because.
- 26:12Speaker 3: They would choose to not show up.
- 26:13Speaker 2: But then don't you get kicked out of Rush?
- 26:15Speaker 3: Yes.
- 26:16Speaker 1: So that's what we were nervous about as our house is,
- 26:19Speaker 1: If you guys are doing that, that's horrible.
- 26:21Speaker 3: But guess what? That means you're not even going to
- 26:22Speaker 3: get a house. You're not even going to get us back.
- 26:24Speaker 2: I mean, first of all, who thinks that that's... I'm sorry.
- 26:28Speaker 2: That is so Gen Z. It's just so Gen Z.
- 26:32Speaker 3: Y'all need to get.
- 26:34Speaker 2: Back to manners school, but whatever.
- 26:36Speaker 1: I remember from my field day, I had like a
- 26:38Speaker 1: range of houses from wherever you want to rank them.
- 26:41Speaker 1: And so I remember kind of going into prep and
- 26:43Speaker 1: I was like, oh gosh, like I really hope that
- 26:44Speaker 1: I just get the top two houses that I wanted.
- 26:46Speaker 1: But another impact that I had was I got a
- 26:49Speaker 1: phone call from my roommate, a friend, who was also
- 26:54Speaker 1: doing recruitment.
- 26:54Speaker 3: We were both doing recruitment as sophomores.
- 26:56Speaker 2: Okay.
- 26:56Speaker 1: And she got a call from the same friend of
- 27:00Speaker 1: hers in the house, in this house.
- 27:02Speaker 2: That was your friend?
- 27:03Speaker 3: I also had a friend in.
- 27:05Speaker 2: It wasn't the same person, same house?
- 27:07Speaker 3: No, same house, different person. Let's just use names. Yeah.
- 27:10Speaker 3: So my friend Ashley was in this house.
- 27:13Speaker 2: D.G.
- 27:14Speaker 3: Pi-Fi. Pi-Fi.
- 27:15Speaker 2: Okay, fine.
- 27:16Speaker 1: My friend Ashley was in this house, Pi-Fi. And then
- 27:19Speaker 1: my other friend was doing recruitment as well with me.
- 27:23Speaker 2: Okay.
- 27:24Speaker 3: And she got.
- 27:25Speaker 2: She also got a call from Pi-Fi.
- 27:26Speaker 3: She also got a call from a girl, Lauren, in Pi-Fi.
- 27:29Speaker 2: This is dirty rushing.
- 27:31Speaker 3: This was like whole next level.
- 27:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:34Speaker 3: Horrible.
- 27:36Speaker 1: And so Mary gets a call from Lauren. And Lauren says... Hey,
- 27:41Speaker 1: I know that you didn't get Pi-Fi back. And as
- 27:43Speaker 1: your friend, I would feel so guilty not telling you
- 27:46Speaker 1: about this, but I think that you should know this.
- 27:49Speaker 1: Already horrible thing to do. And my friend Mary is like,
- 27:53Speaker 1: And you.
- 27:53Speaker 2: Don't even have your houses back yet?
- 27:54Speaker 3: No, we don't even have our house. I hadn't even
- 27:56Speaker 3: voted yet.
- 27:56Speaker 2: So you called in advance to say you're not getting Pi-Fi.
- 28:00Speaker 3: So yeah.
- 28:00Speaker 1: So this Mary though, she already got dropped from Pi-Fi
- 28:04Speaker 1: on Filo Day. So Lauren was just feeling guilty and
- 28:07Speaker 1: felt the need to tell this to Mary. And she said,
- 28:10Speaker 1: the reason that you got dropped was because our house
- 28:13Speaker 1: does a voting system where after every single day, after
- 28:18Speaker 1: every single party, we all gather into the chapter room
- 28:21Speaker 1: together and we put on a slideshow of every single
- 28:24Speaker 1: girl that came into the house today. And we do
- 28:27Speaker 1: red light and green light. When green light comes on,
- 28:30Speaker 1: you give them three positive adjectives. And then when red
- 28:33Speaker 1: light comes on, you give them three negative adjectives.
- 28:35Speaker 2: Okay, this is not how we did it, but it's
- 28:38Speaker 2: closer to how we did it. We didn't do this
- 28:40Speaker 2: red light, green light nonsense.
- 28:42Speaker 1: Which to coming from other houses that are higher ranked
- 28:46Speaker 1: than Pi Phi who don't do all this rigamarole and
- 28:50Speaker 1: back and forth and slideshow nonsense, we simply just vote
- 28:54Speaker 1: on the girls who we talk to. And this house
- 28:57Speaker 1: was also known for being, you know, the nice girls
- 28:59Speaker 1: and the angels.
- 29:00Speaker 3: And the, we're like, like, really? Like, not from this.
- 29:03Speaker 2: I can go both ways on it, right? Because there
- 29:05Speaker 2: is a theory that in the meeting, right? So say
- 29:07Speaker 2: a girl was having a bad day and she didn't,
- 29:10Speaker 2: have a great conversation that day, the rest of the
- 29:13Speaker 2: girls in the house that know her can save her, right?
- 29:16Speaker 2: They can be like, I know Katie. Do not vote
- 29:20Speaker 2: her out. Bring her back. She is awesome.
- 29:24Speaker 3: You know, whatever.
- 29:25Speaker 2: So it can go both ways. I think it's tough
- 29:27Speaker 2: to not be able to have that conversation and just
- 29:30Speaker 2: go strictly with this voting. But at the same time,
- 29:33Speaker 2: it also could bop a girl out because, I don't know,
- 29:37Speaker 2: maybe she kissed someone's boyfriend.
- 29:38Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly. It gets like... catty, things like that.
- 29:41Speaker 1: So she tells Mary, she goes, well, so when your
- 29:45Speaker 1: red light came on.
- 29:46Speaker 3: No.
- 29:47Speaker 1: You were called bratty and spoiled and selfish by some
- 29:52Speaker 1: girl that she went to high school with who Mary
- 29:54Speaker 1: really wasn't even friends with and wasn't even the same
- 29:56Speaker 1: friend group with and they were in completely separate grades.
- 29:59Speaker 1: And she was like, that's ridiculous, but whatever. I mean,
- 30:01Speaker 1: I already got dropped from 5'5, so it doesn't even matter.
- 30:04Speaker 1: And she goes, but, and then Lauren then decides to
- 30:09Speaker 1: scoop around and try to get the dirt on things.
- 30:11Speaker 2: I've lost all the names here, but okay.
- 30:13Speaker 1: Lauren, who's in the house, who's calling my friend, she says,
- 30:17Speaker 1: I have to ask what happened between me, person, me
- 30:24Speaker 1: and Ashley.
- 30:24Speaker 3: What happened between the two of them?
- 30:26Speaker 1: And my friend was like, what are you talking about?
- 30:28Speaker 1: They're totally fine. They've been best friends for years. They're
- 30:31Speaker 1: hometown friends. They're very close. Like, what could you be
- 30:33Speaker 1: talking about? And she goes, well, when apparently when I
- 30:36Speaker 1: got on the screen for them to vote for me
- 30:38Speaker 1: after Filo.
- 30:39Speaker 2: Your friend red lighted you?
- 30:41Speaker 1: My, so my friend stood up sobbing, crying during my
- 30:46Speaker 1: red light. And she was sobbing, crying so hard that
- 30:50Speaker 1: she couldn't even get the words out.
- 30:52Speaker 3: And everyone was crying. very about off.
- 30:55Speaker 2: But saying oh that she was so emotional.
- 30:58Speaker 3: So everyone was kind it gave the impression that i
- 31:02Speaker 3: did something so horrible to her that when she stood
- 31:05Speaker 3: up she was sobbing crying so hard that she couldn't
- 31:07Speaker 3: even get the words out to say the three negative
- 31:09Speaker 3: things about me so and then but the girl who's
- 31:12Speaker 3: calling my friend about this to talk about me is
- 31:16Speaker 3: Was like, don't say anything, though, because this is our
- 31:18Speaker 3: voting and we can't have this out there. And if
- 31:21Speaker 3: this comes out, I'm risked at being dropped.
- 31:23Speaker 2: Did you talk to the friend again?
- 31:24Speaker 3: Oh, I texted this because this is such a close
- 31:27Speaker 3: friend of mine.
- 31:28Speaker 2: I was crying because I didn't want to say anything
- 31:30Speaker 2: bad about you.
- 31:31Speaker 3: She. Yeah, she.
- 31:32Speaker 1: I texted her immediately and I was said, I know
- 31:37Speaker 1: I'm not supposed to talk about this, but I would
- 31:39Speaker 1: be lying to you if I told you I didn't
- 31:40Speaker 1: know that you guys do this.
- 31:42Speaker 3: And.
- 31:43Speaker 1: Again, crazy coming from someone who's a PNM during all
- 31:46Speaker 1: of this. And I'm literally about to go into prep
- 31:48Speaker 1: the next day. And I said, I know about this.
- 31:51Speaker 1: I know that you apparently stood up sobbing, crying, and
- 31:54Speaker 1: you couldn't even, I guess it was said that you
- 31:56Speaker 1: couldn't even get the words out about me.
- 31:58Speaker 3: What is this about?
- 31:59Speaker 2: And what did she say?
- 32:00Speaker 1: She basically gave me the rundown on how horrible that
- 32:06Speaker 1: the process of what they do is and how toxic
- 32:08Speaker 1: it is.
- 32:09Speaker 3: And at first I was kind of like, I don't
- 32:10Speaker 3: really know what to believe.
- 32:12Speaker 1: And then she ended up dropping the house actually and
- 32:14Speaker 1: moving out because she said that it was just so
- 32:16Speaker 1: horrible and toxic. But she said, you know, like as
- 32:18Speaker 1: someone who like I know and like such a close
- 32:20Speaker 1: friend from like for many years and like when you
- 32:22Speaker 1: came up and like just seeing your photo like on
- 32:24Speaker 1: the slideshow and just like seeing if people were just
- 32:26Speaker 1: going to be, like, ammoed up just to say three
- 32:29Speaker 1: negative words about you who also are girls that really
- 32:32Speaker 1: don't know you.
- 32:32Speaker 3: Because mind you, like, these are girls who, like, what?
- 32:34Speaker 2: Met you for seven minutes.
- 32:35Speaker 1: Seven-minute conversations with, like, you don't know, actually, like, know them.
- 32:40Speaker 1: And she then, my friend, went to standards and said,
- 32:44Speaker 1: she is not going to put us back for pref
- 32:47Speaker 1: and is going to vote us out because she knows
- 32:49Speaker 1: how we were voting. So you guys might want to
- 32:52Speaker 1: figure out who's going around spreading our... voting details and
- 32:56Speaker 1: our voting secrets with PNMs, which is a huge problem.
- 33:01Speaker 1: And when I look back at the situation now as
- 33:04Speaker 1: someone in a house, you're not meant to share those
- 33:10Speaker 1: voting things with someone who got dropped from the house
- 33:12Speaker 1: just because what is that doing for them? It's kind
- 33:15Speaker 1: of like my friend who she first shared with where
- 33:17Speaker 1: she's like, well, I already got dropped, so it doesn't
- 33:18Speaker 1: really matter.
- 33:34Speaker 2: Look, for people listening, this is the reason we do
- 33:37Speaker 2: this podcast because it is so crazy. There's a lot
- 33:39Speaker 2: of things about Rush that you're like, what happens? And
- 33:43Speaker 2: I have conversations with moms all the time where their
- 33:46Speaker 2: daughter's going through Rush, but they didn't. So they are
- 33:49Speaker 2: just like, wait, what? What is happening? It does sound crazy.
- 33:56Speaker 2: And then when you're in it, you're like, it's actually
- 33:58Speaker 2: not that crazy. So like, I get it. I mean,
- 34:01Speaker 2: all that sounds crazy. I get what you're saying, right?
- 34:03Speaker 2: Because I understand what's happening. But I think someone listening
- 34:05Speaker 2: is like, huh?
- 34:07Speaker 3: Huh?
- 34:08Speaker 2: What?
- 34:08Speaker 3: Red light?
- 34:09Speaker 2: Green light?
- 34:09Speaker 3: Voting?
- 34:10Speaker 2: One? Ten?
- 34:11Speaker 3: What?
- 34:11Speaker 2: So, all right. There's always so much more to talk about.
- 34:14Speaker 2: That's why this podcast will go on and on and on.
- 34:16Speaker 2: So to sum it up, this mystery girl here is
- 34:21Speaker 2: in the middle of rush. It's very juicy. And do
- 34:24Speaker 2: you feel like you guys got all the girls you wanted?
- 34:28Speaker 3: I do.
- 34:28Speaker 2: I mean, as a senior.
- 34:32Speaker 1: I didn't talk to all of them, but from what
- 34:34Speaker 1: I can remember and seeing the list and then going
- 34:36Speaker 1: up to look up the girls' Instagrams so that I
- 34:39Speaker 1: could connect the name to the face, I was kind
- 34:42Speaker 1: of like, wait.
- 34:42Speaker 3: I think we slept a bit. Yeah, I think we
- 34:45Speaker 3: did it.
- 34:46Speaker 2: And as a senior, how much interaction will you have
- 34:48Speaker 2: with these pledges?
- 34:52Speaker 3: I mean, it really just depends. I don't think on
- 34:55Speaker 3: day-to-day things. No, I mean.
- 34:58Speaker 1: that's their job to connect with the sophomores and who
- 35:00Speaker 1: they're going to be living with.
- 35:02Speaker 2: It's so interesting because one of my best friends truly
- 35:05Speaker 2: closest friends was a senior when I was a freshman
- 35:08Speaker 2: so I do think those friendships happen we were definitely
- 35:11Speaker 2: good friends when we were in the sorority together and
- 35:14Speaker 2: then 30 years later we're even closer now but I
- 35:18Speaker 2: do think there are times when a a freshman and
- 35:21Speaker 2: a senior become super tight.
- 35:22Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, I would say like this was by
- 35:24Speaker 1: far the most senior participation that we've had, which is.
- 35:27Speaker 3: Really positive and really great. And like even to have
- 35:30Speaker 3: seniors prepping freshmen is always good.
- 35:32Speaker 2: The seniors were totally involved. And like, interestingly, even I
- 35:35Speaker 2: have a friend from the sorority who's like eight years
- 35:37Speaker 2: older than me, seven, let's see, no, six years older
- 35:41Speaker 2: than me. And she's a great friend. Wasn't even in
- 35:43Speaker 2: the house when I was there, she'd already graduated, but
- 35:45Speaker 2: I think there's still that bond there. especially when you're
- 35:48Speaker 2: in the same sorority at the same school. It's like,
- 35:51Speaker 2: even if you're years apart, you kind of are instantly
- 35:54Speaker 2: bonded by that. So anyway, I mean, look, we'll keep
- 35:57Speaker 2: talking about it all. It's just never ending. There's so
- 36:01Speaker 2: much juice to talk about.
- 36:02Speaker 3: It's crazy.
- 36:03Speaker 1: You got to just go through recruitment and go through
- 36:06Speaker 1: the chaos. And then you finally get the house that
- 36:10Speaker 1: you wanted and things go back to normalcy.
- 36:12Speaker 2: And look, I think it's interesting. I know, like I said,
- 36:14Speaker 2: the girl that's going through rush at your school, I
- 36:17Speaker 2: know what house she got. She won't find out till 530.
- 36:19Speaker 2: I know she's going to be thrilled because I know
- 36:22Speaker 2: what she put first. So there are those things where like,
- 36:26Speaker 2: it's impossible to avoid. People are going to sort of
- 36:28Speaker 2: know things. It's kind of amazing that it's kept as
- 36:31Speaker 2: secretive as it is with how the world is right
- 36:34Speaker 2: these days and social media and people with loose lips,
- 36:38Speaker 2: that it even does become as much of a surprise
- 36:41Speaker 2: as it is. And it is fun to like open
- 36:43Speaker 2: that envelope and see the house and run over there. So,
- 36:46Speaker 2: you know, yay to everybody going through Rush at your school.
- 36:49Speaker 2: All best wishes to everyone going through Rush because it
- 36:52Speaker 2: is gnarly. I mean, the parents, we need to do
- 36:54Speaker 2: another episode where these parents, because they just go through hell.
- 36:57Speaker 3: Yeah. That's the only person I talked to.
- 36:59Speaker 2: I knew a dad. Last night was texting a mom.
- 37:02Speaker 2: I mean, a dad texting a mom. I know how
- 37:05Speaker 2: stressful this is.
- 37:07Speaker 3: Blah, blah, blah. Like a dad. That's the only person
- 37:11Speaker 3: a PNM can actually talk to.
- 37:12Speaker 1: You can't talk to your friends about what you're getting
- 37:15Speaker 1: back or what houses you liked.
- 37:16Speaker 2: They really call the parents.
- 37:18Speaker 1: You just, I talked to my mom after every single
- 37:20Speaker 1: party so much so that my mom's best friend also
- 37:23Speaker 1: had a daughter that was doing recruitment at the same
- 37:25Speaker 1: time as me at the same school and And they
- 37:27Speaker 1: were literally at dinner together one night and they were
- 37:29Speaker 1: both just getting calls from us.
- 37:31Speaker 2: I'll definitely go out with the two girls I know
- 37:34Speaker 2: because they don't have anyone else to talk to and
- 37:35Speaker 2: their mom didn't go through rush. So like they need
- 37:39Speaker 2: to have like a aunt figure or a, you know,
- 37:42Speaker 2: figure that knows what they're going through. So anyway, we'll
- 37:46Speaker 2: keep getting dirty. Talk to you guys soon.
