- 0:02Speaker 1: So right under the Devil Rock is a rounded concrete
- 0:05Speaker 1: tunnel with metal gates on each side. And the tunnel
- 0:09Speaker 1: is about 100 feet long with graffiti covered walls. That
- 0:13Speaker 1: is said to be the Devil's Gate. It's said to
- 0:17Speaker 1: be the portal to hell.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Oh my gosh. Okay. I know.
- 0:21Speaker 1: And it looks creepy too. Like if you, there's pictures
- 0:24Speaker 1: of it online. So it has like the two gates
- 0:27Speaker 1: on either side, which I think makes it look even creepier.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Oh, wow. That's an intense piece of rock. Holy shit.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Hi, Taylin.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Hi, Cassie.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Hi, creepy people. Hello. This is PNW Haunts and Homicides,
- 0:46Speaker 1: where we chat about true crime, the paranormal, and all
- 0:49Speaker 1: things spooky in the Pacific Northwest. Or the PNW, if
- 0:54Speaker 1: you're nasty.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Getting nastier by the day.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Yes, she is. I can see it on her. And
- 1:02Speaker 1: last time, I totally forgot to say we do a
- 1:03Speaker 1: tarot reading at the end of every episode for a
- 1:06Speaker 1: little deeper insight into our topic. So if last episode
- 1:10Speaker 1: was your first and you were surprised by the tarot,
- 1:12Speaker 1: we do it in every episode. So there you go.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Can't say we didn't tell you. No.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Well, I have some more fun, very, I think it's
- 1:22Speaker 1: very creepy, spooky Halloween season episodes I've been putting together. Yes.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 1:29Speaker 1: That is why Caitlyn is not here again, because I
- 1:32Speaker 1: told you guys, she's just a chicken, and she didn't
- 1:34Speaker 1: want to.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. She actually fled the state to avoid this, specifically. Yes.
- 1:42Speaker 1: There was a Caitlyn-shaped hole in all of the walls
- 1:46Speaker 1: on her way. I can't wait to see what she
- 1:50Speaker 1: says when she comes back, if she listens to these
- 1:52Speaker 1: while she's gone.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Right, yeah. She'll be like, accurate, valid. Yeah.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Okay, well, I don't have any fun. I didn't run
- 2:00Speaker 1: into any fun Portland-y things like the flamethrower car. Did
- 2:04Speaker 1: you run into any weird things in your state over
- 2:09Speaker 1: there in Colorado? Are we saying where you're from?
- 2:12Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, sure.
- 2:15Speaker 1: She's not technically technical PNW, but sometimes we count Colorado
- 2:21Speaker 1: and you know what? We're throwing it in there.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Very non-technically TNW. There are some areas, though, that are
- 2:31Speaker 2: very TNW. No stories from this week, but next week
- 2:36Speaker 2: I'm going to Estes Park, which is actually one of
- 2:40Speaker 2: the areas I find to be very Pacific Northwest. It's
- 2:43Speaker 2: a lot greener, lots of pine trees, and that's where
- 2:46Speaker 2: the Stanley Hotel is as well.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Oh, is that where the Estes Method comes from?
- 2:51Speaker 2: It absolutely is, and... I'm going to try to get
- 2:56Speaker 2: on one of the ghost tours this time around because
- 2:58Speaker 2: we're staying in a little cabin over there. It's only
- 3:01Speaker 2: 45 minutes from us, but I've never done the Stanley.
- 3:04Speaker 2: So we're going to try to do that. And I'll
- 3:07Speaker 2: report back if we end up making that happen.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Please do. I'm requesting an entire episode on that.
- 3:15Speaker 2: I will be happy to do that. If we can
- 3:19Speaker 2: just coordinate the schedule a little bit. Yeah.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I want it immediately like next week. No,
- 3:29Speaker 1: that would be so cool. And if you could include
- 3:31Speaker 1: how the Estes method came around, that would be fun,
- 3:35Speaker 1: I think, for people to learn because I've I've heard
- 3:38Speaker 1: of it, but I don't know if like the majority
- 3:40Speaker 1: of people who aren't super into ghost hunting like no.
- 3:45Speaker 2: That's fair. Yeah. And I think it's something that pretty
- 3:48Speaker 2: much anyone could be interested in. I have some friends
- 3:52Speaker 2: that are not into ghost hunting, but I showed them
- 3:55Speaker 2: a few episodes of a different show talking about the
- 3:59Speaker 2: SS method and they were fascinated just because it's like,
- 4:04Speaker 2: I don't know, you watch videos of it happening and
- 4:06Speaker 2: it's kind of hard to argue with. I know.
- 4:09Speaker 1: I think so, too. I love it. It's like my
- 4:11Speaker 1: favorite part of ghost investigations. And I'm like dying to
- 4:14Speaker 1: get to do it one day.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Oh, my God. Someday. I'd be so scared. I'm such
- 4:19Speaker 2: a chicken when it comes to like actually doing the thing.
- 4:22Speaker 2: But I would totally help facilitate it.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Calm down. You can blindfold me.
- 4:28Speaker 2: I just know something is going to come through and
- 4:30Speaker 2: not leave me if I end up if I were
- 4:33Speaker 2: to do it myself. Hopefully I'm too susceptible to things.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Yeah. It would be my luck where like nothing could
- 4:42Speaker 1: enter my crab shell.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Oh, or it's already there. Something leaves while you're doing this. Maybe.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Can you imagine?
- 4:51Speaker 1: That might be good for me.
- 4:53Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 4:54Speaker 1: We should try this.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Yeah, totally. All right.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Well, we're speaking of things entering you and leaving you
- 5:02Speaker 1: and along those lines. It kind of goes with my
- 5:05Speaker 1: episode today.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Tell me more.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Not like that, you guys. Come on. So people say
- 5:13Speaker 1: there is a portal to hell in Pasadena, California.
- 5:16Speaker 2: I love Pasadena. I'm really curious to know where this
- 5:21Speaker 2: portal is. I've never heard of it before. I used
- 5:24Speaker 2: to live down there, too.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Oh, really? Yeah.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Okay.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Well, this is fun. That's kind of funny. You'll see later.
- 5:32Speaker 1: You'll see later. Okay.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Okay.
- 5:34Speaker 1: So Pasadena is right outside LA for those of you
- 5:37Speaker 1: who didn't know, which I really didn't know until I
- 5:40Speaker 1: like researched this. There is a dam named Devil's Gate.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Devil's Gate Dam was built in 1920 on a rock
- 5:47Speaker 1: formation resembling Satan.
- 5:53Speaker 2: The one and only? I have heard of the dam.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Okay.
- 5:57Speaker 2: I'm wondering why, do you know, you ever hear a
- 6:00Speaker 2: word out of like deviled eggs? Deviled eggs? I don't
- 6:03Speaker 2: think about the devil when I think about deviled eggs.
- 6:05Speaker 2: You don't? I don't think I ever thought about the
- 6:08Speaker 2: devil when thinking about devil dams.
- 6:12Speaker 1: That is interesting because I definitely like picture like deviled
- 6:17Speaker 1: eggs with like little horns on a tail, you know?
- 6:19Speaker 2: Yeah, which makes sense. I'm really wondering about myself right now. Why?
- 6:24Speaker 2: To me, it's like one word. It's not deviled eggs.
- 6:27Speaker 2: It's deviled eggs. Yeah. It's not deviled eggs. It's devil
- 6:31Speaker 2: damn like i don't know they're just like as a
- 6:34Speaker 2: my brain does something i guess when they're paired.
- 6:37Speaker 1: I could see that my brain does shit like that
- 6:39Speaker 1: all the time so i could totally see that or
- 6:41Speaker 1: maybe the devil is just in you already and it
- 6:44Speaker 1: doesn't want you to see It is said that the
- 6:49Speaker 1: first people here, the Tongva, warned of this place, I
- 6:54Speaker 1: guess because of the devil rock. I don't know why,
- 6:57Speaker 1: if there be any other reason, if they felt like
- 7:00Speaker 1: it was some sort of, what am I trying to say,
- 7:03Speaker 1: like a curse place or something like that. It didn't
- 7:05Speaker 1: really specify, but... So right under the Devil Rock is
- 7:09Speaker 1: a rounded concrete tunnel with metal gates on each side.
- 7:14Speaker 1: And the tunnel is about 100 feet long with graffiti
- 7:17Speaker 1: covered walls. That is said to be the Devil's Gate.
- 7:22Speaker 1: It's said to be the portal to hell.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Oh, my gosh. Okay. I know.
- 7:27Speaker 1: And it looks creepy, too. Like if you there's pictures
- 7:30Speaker 1: of it online. So it has like the two gates
- 7:33Speaker 1: on either side, which I think makes it look even creepier.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Oh, wow. That's an intense piece of rock. Holy shit.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Do you see the devil rock?
- 7:43Speaker 2: Yeah. You know what? So when I grew up in
- 7:47Speaker 2: Southern California, my extended family down there was either very
- 7:51Speaker 2: Catholic or very Mormon. And I'm assuming maybe this is
- 7:57Speaker 2: why this never entered my orbit as a place that
- 8:00Speaker 2: we would visit or talk about. There might have been
- 8:03Speaker 2: a little superstition there or... belief not even superstition like
- 8:07Speaker 2: belief there I famously brought a tarot deck into my
- 8:11Speaker 2: aunt's house once when I was like 10 years old
- 8:14Speaker 2: and it it did not go well it those are
- 8:17Speaker 2: of satan those are witchcraft those are evil I mean
- 8:20Speaker 2: that's why I brought them I didn't really care for
- 8:22Speaker 2: her I should stop talking now.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Are we leaving this in? No, it's up to you.
- 8:29Speaker 2: I'll leave that up to you.
- 8:30Speaker 1: I think it's great.
- 8:33Speaker 2: That's why this might not have been part of my orbit,
- 8:35Speaker 2: even though I was into the spooky things. This is intense.
- 8:39Speaker 2: This place looks like some shit is happening.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Yeah, it does. And it has a lot of lore
- 8:44Speaker 1: as well. So we'll talk about some of that. This
- 8:47Speaker 1: is a hiking area that a lot of people go to.
- 8:50Speaker 1: So you can hike around it and you can get
- 8:53Speaker 1: to the tunnel itself. It's not super easy to get to.
- 8:56Speaker 1: It's kind of off trail. And some people have posted
- 9:00Speaker 1: like directions to it online if you're interested in going.
- 9:05Speaker 1: I'm not going to go through the directions of how
- 9:06Speaker 1: to get there. That's on you guys to research. There
- 9:10Speaker 1: is a pretty ominous comment on Yelp and they say,
- 9:14Speaker 1: I don't want to be a frequent hiker here because
- 9:16Speaker 1: people that are have stumbled across Satanists doing rituals and sacrifices.
- 9:22Speaker 2: I could see that. I could see that totally. Or
- 9:25Speaker 2: like teenagers, you know.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Definitely. But there is also another reason for it, other
- 9:32Speaker 1: than kind of the abandoned factor of it and, you know,
- 9:36Speaker 1: the Devil Rock and the name of the place.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Okay.
- 9:40Speaker 1: The area has attracted occultists, specifically JPL co-founder Jack Parsons.
- 9:47Speaker 1: which JPL is NASA's largest space robotics facility. If you
- 9:53Speaker 1: guys didn't know.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Shut up.
- 9:54Speaker 1: I definitely didn't.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Their founder?
- 9:56Speaker 1: Yeah, their co-founder, Jack Parsons.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Is it Nicole Parsons?
- 10:00Speaker 1: Yes. Okay, okay. No, it gets crazier. It gets crazier.
- 10:03Speaker 1: And he teamed up with Scientologist founder L. Ron Hubbard.
- 10:08Speaker 2: Stop.
- 10:09Speaker 1: I'm telling you, I can't even get through the sentence
- 10:11Speaker 1: because it's so crazy. It is said that here they
- 10:13Speaker 1: performed ceremonies to summon the goddess Babylon... To help them
- 10:18Speaker 1: conceive the Antichrist.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Stop. Right?
- 10:23Speaker 1: I'm like, I didn't know that was a thing in Scientology.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Not that I know much about it.
- 10:30Speaker 2: I didn't know that was a thing in NASA. Right?
- 10:34Speaker 1: That too. I'm like, wait. So like this huge person
- 10:37Speaker 1: like in our history is summoning... The Antichrist?
- 10:45Speaker 2: Did you rabbit hole these people at all? And if so,
- 10:47Speaker 2: do you happen to know if the occultist part came
- 10:50Speaker 2: before or after the NASA part?
- 10:53Speaker 1: It came after.
- 10:53Speaker 2: I know that. OK, so he like helped found NASA
- 10:57Speaker 2: and then was like, actually.
- 10:58Speaker 1: So I didn't deep dive on it, but I know
- 11:01Speaker 1: like these things were happening after him being the co-founder.
- 11:05Speaker 1: But I did not deep dive on either of these things.
- 11:10Speaker 1: So I read like through a few articles that said
- 11:13Speaker 1: the same thing, but I was like, I cannot. I can't.
- 11:17Speaker 2: That's so shocking.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Because that's a lot.
- 11:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:19Speaker 1: So if you want a deep dive on this.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm so curious. I'm always surprised when someone who
- 11:28Speaker 2: you would think, surely they're so practical minded. Surely they're atheists,
- 11:34Speaker 2: not even agnostic. But then again, like, I don't know.
- 11:38Speaker 2: I guess if you're like exploring space or help helping,
- 11:42Speaker 2: you know, make that possible. That would kind of open
- 11:45Speaker 2: your mind a bit to some magic and some wonder, maybe.
- 11:49Speaker 1: I think so. I think it's like a great thing. Like,
- 11:53Speaker 1: I don't think all occultists are necessarily bad or anything.
- 11:56Speaker 1: I know there is like a bad side of it
- 11:58Speaker 1: and a bad path you can go down. And it
- 12:00Speaker 1: sounds like they didn't maybe go down the best path.
- 12:04Speaker 1: But yeah, I think it's great to be open. But
- 12:07Speaker 1: I don't know about summoning the Antichrist.
- 12:10Speaker 2: And then like teaming up with L. Ron Hubbard is
- 12:13Speaker 2: where kind of my where I'm like, there's some moral
- 12:17Speaker 2: questioning there, maybe.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Interesting.
- 12:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:20Speaker 1: And everything, every little nugget I learn about Scientology, I
- 12:24Speaker 1: just I can't piece it together. And I want to
- 12:28Speaker 1: look into it and I want to know more. But like,
- 12:30Speaker 1: it just it's crazy shit that doesn't make any sense
- 12:34Speaker 1: to me.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:36Speaker 1: And also, I'm scared. Totally.
- 12:37Speaker 2: Totally.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Of getting caught in it. Like, what if I start
- 12:41Speaker 1: to believe it, you know? Oh, I would.
- 12:43Speaker 2: Are you kidding me? It's amazing I haven't been snatched
- 12:46Speaker 2: by a cult before. Like, I'm, again, very susceptible.
- 12:51Speaker 1: I hope no cults are listening at this moment.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Oh, please, no. I'm okay. I'm comfy where I'm at.
- 12:58Speaker 1: We do have Caitlin, though, so she can maybe talk
- 13:01Speaker 1: us out of the cult. She can be our... So true.
- 13:05Speaker 2: That's very comforting. She's like a pre-deprogrammer.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I think so. Or wait, is she our
- 13:12Speaker 1: cult leader?
- 13:13Speaker 2: Oh, God.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Oh, fuck. What have we done?
- 13:15Speaker 2: Fuck, I did just get her name tattooed in my arm.
- 13:20Speaker 1: You did too? We're just improv-ing now.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Yes, and.
- 13:29Speaker 1: You know who else said yes, and? Aleister Crowley. He
- 13:32Speaker 1: claimed to have opened one of the seven portals to
- 13:35Speaker 1: hell here as well. So some famous occultist action happening
- 13:42Speaker 1: at the Devil's Gate.
- 13:43Speaker 2: Okay, sorry, I'm stunned. The woman was stunned.
- 13:47Speaker 1: Also, I didn't deep dive on that either. So who
- 13:50Speaker 1: knows if it's true. I might just be bullshitting all
- 13:53Speaker 1: of you guys today.
- 13:54Speaker 2: This whole episode is improv.
- 13:56Speaker 1: So this one's really sad. There is even rumors of
- 13:59Speaker 1: missing children in the area being linked to the Devil's Gate.
- 14:03Speaker 1: And I don't like.
- 14:04Speaker 2: That at all.
- 14:05Speaker 1: I like I know there's going to be missing children
- 14:08Speaker 1: in the area. Obviously, there's missing children all over the place.
- 14:12Speaker 1: But I really hope that they're not like linked to this.
- 14:16Speaker 1: It just makes me feel icky about it.
- 14:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:19Speaker 1: It has long been said that manic laughter can be
- 14:23Speaker 1: heard coming out of the tunnel.
- 14:25Speaker 2: Oh, my God. Can people get in there or is
- 14:28Speaker 2: it like permanent? Okay. Okay.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Yeah, you can get in there. So I was kind
- 14:33Speaker 1: of thinking like, is it just people in there partying?
- 14:35Speaker 1: Or unwell. Yeah, that too.
- 14:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:39Speaker 1: Deeply unwell.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Maybe they're possessed.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Maybe.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Or maybe it's the devil himself.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Herself. No, I'm just kidding.
- 14:48Speaker 1: No, you're right. You're right though. Yeah. Thanks for thanks
- 14:52Speaker 1: for checking me. So this is kind of I thought
- 14:56Speaker 1: was important. Some articles say that it's abandoned the dam,
- 15:00Speaker 1: which it looks abandoned from all the pictures and stuff
- 15:03Speaker 1: and all like the graffiti everywhere. But it's actually not.
- 15:07Speaker 1: It is still an active flood control structure managed by
- 15:11Speaker 1: the L.A. County Public Works.
- 15:14Speaker 2: Oh, wow.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Just so you guys know. And there are signs like
- 15:17Speaker 1: no trespassing signs on, I think, certain ways you can
- 15:20Speaker 1: get to the gates. So just be aware of that.
- 15:24Speaker 2: But it's like a maintained state owned thing. Yeah. Okay.
- 15:29Speaker 1: But it says it's for flood control. So there's going
- 15:32Speaker 1: to be some water somewhere at some point.
- 15:34Speaker 2: You know, lots of that in California. Right.
- 15:37Speaker 1: If they if there's like super duper heavy torrential downpours
- 15:41Speaker 1: in Pasadena one day, you know, maybe be careful, which
- 15:45Speaker 1: is maybe why it does seem abandoned to probably because
- 15:48Speaker 1: they don't have use for.
- 15:50Speaker 2: It a ton. Yeah, maybe. I don't know. I'm looking
- 15:54Speaker 2: at it and it is a big dam. I've never
- 15:56Speaker 2: seen the, this has never come up for me. So,
- 15:59Speaker 2: and I didn't live in Southern California past my like
- 16:03Speaker 2: early teen years. So some stuff is so big, but
- 16:06Speaker 2: I'm looking at pictures of the water part of it.
- 16:09Speaker 2: It's pretty massive. I'd only ever seen the like concrete,
- 16:12Speaker 2: like dam.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Part of it, but It looks like a normal dam
- 16:17Speaker 1: to me, and I don't know if it's just because
- 16:18Speaker 1: of like what I read about it, but it does
- 16:21Speaker 1: have like a weird ominous look to it. I don't
- 16:25Speaker 1: know if you're feeling that too, but I think it
- 16:27Speaker 1: overall generally looks like a normal dam, but there's something
- 16:30Speaker 1: about it that creeps me out.
- 16:32Speaker 2: Well, LA in general is creepy. I don't know if
- 16:36Speaker 2: you've ever seen like Inland Empire or Mulholland Drive from
- 16:41Speaker 2: David Lynch. No. They really, really capture. There's this feeling
- 16:46Speaker 2: in LA, everything is so spread out. Everything is so sunny.
- 16:50Speaker 2: But there's like a haze. There's like a vibe there
- 16:53Speaker 2: where it's like just eerie.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Is the haze the pollution? Probably, yeah.
- 17:00Speaker 2: But I feel like it matches the vibe sometimes. Like,
- 17:02Speaker 2: I don't know. I remember getting locked outside of a
- 17:06Speaker 2: friend's parents' house. work building once in los angeles like
- 17:11Speaker 2: downtown los angeles and it's just odd it's almost like
- 17:15Speaker 2: a liminal space in itself the feeling there sometimes.
- 17:19Speaker 1: Oh that's like what i was feeling and picturing as
- 17:22Speaker 1: you were describing it.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Yeah so when you say like when you're talking about
- 17:26Speaker 2: that eerie feeling i like a hundred percent agree and
- 17:29Speaker 2: to me it feels no different than a lot of
- 17:33Speaker 2: la can feel at least.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Wow, I love that you know the area. This is
- 17:38Speaker 1: great because like I would have no idea. And I
- 17:41Speaker 1: know it's not technically PNW either, whatever.
- 17:43Speaker 2: Just barely technically.
- 17:47Speaker 1: West Coast.
- 17:51Speaker 2: All right.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Okay, so this is why I thought it was funny
- 17:54Speaker 1: earlier that we were talking about places you know, because
- 17:58Speaker 1: you might know this place as well. I'm not 100% sure,
- 18:02Speaker 1: but we'll see. So we're going to talk about Riverdale Road.
- 18:06Speaker 1: And it is an 11 mile road between Thornton and
- 18:11Speaker 1: Brighton in Colorado.
- 18:13Speaker 2: I don't know the name of this road, but I
- 18:16Speaker 2: definitely driven between those two places. I'm also notoriously bad
- 18:22Speaker 2: at roads and maps. Someone asked me recently what way
- 18:26Speaker 2: I go to get to Boulder from where I live.
- 18:30Speaker 2: And I take it. regularly and I couldn't remember the
- 18:34Speaker 2: name of the highway.
- 18:35Speaker 1: I'm the same.
- 18:37Speaker 2: Really? Okay, good.
- 18:38Speaker 1: Yes.
- 18:39Speaker 2: That makes me feel better.
- 18:40Speaker 1: I am so bad. Yeah, with directions and roads and no,
- 18:44Speaker 1: I'm not good at it either. So where is Thornton?
- 18:47Speaker 1: Is it Thornton?
- 18:48Speaker 2: Thornton? That's how everyone I know. Thornton? That's it. Yeah, Thornton.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Has an N in there. Has a tricky little N
- 18:54Speaker 1: in there.
- 18:55Speaker 2: I know. I never hear people pronounce it, but maybe
- 18:59Speaker 2: it is pronounced and I just don't notice it or
- 19:02Speaker 2: maybe everyone said that wrong.
- 19:03Speaker 1: No I don't think so because you guys are from
- 19:05Speaker 1: that area so I'm gonna take it from you all
- 19:08Speaker 1: right go for it then but I definitely forgot to
- 19:10Speaker 1: look up like where this these places were.
- 19:13Speaker 2: Brighton is um northeast of Denver it's 30 minutes from
- 19:18Speaker 2: Denver Thornton is a little bit closer to Denver and
- 19:22Speaker 2: then Brighton is further up north.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Okay We're going to go and talk about a bunch
- 19:29Speaker 1: of things on this road and like why it might
- 19:33Speaker 1: be haunted, what's going on here. But the first one
- 19:36Speaker 1: I want to bring up because every single article brings
- 19:38Speaker 1: it up and I don't love this theory, but I
- 19:41Speaker 1: kind of want to know like your thoughts on it
- 19:43Speaker 1: as well. So they say an ancient Native American burial ground.
- 19:50Speaker 1: either they built the road on it, I think is
- 19:52Speaker 1: what it is. And so it has, you know, it's
- 19:55Speaker 1: cursed everyone who's been on the road.
- 19:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:59Speaker 1: I don't love that theory because it's like, I mean,
- 20:02Speaker 1: I didn't come up with this, but I've heard like
- 20:04Speaker 1: several people talk about it. And it's like saying that,
- 20:06Speaker 1: you know, the indigenous people were cursed everyone and that's
- 20:10Speaker 1: like the the big theory on why a bunch of
- 20:13Speaker 1: things are haunted I think it like started from the
- 20:15Speaker 1: movie poltergeist or whatever yeah.
- 20:19Speaker 2: That's kind of a bummer to hear that like locals
- 20:21Speaker 2: maybe are talking like that.
- 20:23Speaker 1: Because yeah I think it's still a big thing now
- 20:26Speaker 1: with like haunted stories.
- 20:29Speaker 2: It's a bummer because I'm like well yeah like it's
- 20:31Speaker 2: all native land and like many places have that acknowledgement
- 20:35Speaker 2: on their websites or in their place of business and
- 20:37Speaker 2: stuff so like Well, yeah, like it was definitely built
- 20:41Speaker 2: over Native American land, but that whole like ancient cemetery
- 20:47Speaker 2: or burial ground thing. Right.
- 20:49Speaker 1: And the curse, I think the curse is like the
- 20:51Speaker 1: biggest thing. It's like they were evil and they cursed us. And,
- 20:55Speaker 1: you know, I'm like, I'm pretty sure we brought the
- 20:57Speaker 1: curse on to them, you know.
- 21:00Speaker 2: And then we cursed ourselves by doing so. Right, right. Yeah.
- 21:04Speaker 1: So like, actually, we did it.
- 21:06Speaker 2: No.
- 21:08Speaker 1: But I do think that any burial ground, any cemetery,
- 21:14Speaker 1: if you're going to like build something on top of
- 21:16Speaker 1: it and there's no markers for who was buried under there,
- 21:20Speaker 1: that might, you know, it might stir up some stuff,
- 21:23Speaker 1: bring some, you know, not so great vibes. They're kind
- 21:26Speaker 1: of being disrespected. So I can see that part of it,
- 21:30Speaker 1: but not necessarily that they, you know, indigenous people left
- 21:34Speaker 1: a curse on the land.
- 21:37Speaker 2: Definitely not. But they would be within their rights to
- 21:40Speaker 2: do so if that is what was happening.
- 21:43Speaker 1: But I don't believe.
- 21:44Speaker 2: That's what's happening.
- 21:47Speaker 1: So moving past that, there is apparently a high number
- 21:50Speaker 1: of accidents that happen on the road. And one of
- 21:54Speaker 1: the hauntings is actually the driver of a Camaro who
- 21:58Speaker 1: was killed in an accident on the road in the 70s.
- 22:01Speaker 1: And people report seeing a Camaro come out of nowhere
- 22:05Speaker 1: with one headlight out, which is like, ooh, very spooky.
- 22:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:10Speaker 1: And it will follow them and pull up beside them
- 22:13Speaker 1: as if wanting to race.
- 22:15Speaker 2: Is that how he died? Was it a race?
- 22:17Speaker 1: I don't know for sure. It just said it was
- 22:20Speaker 1: an accident.
- 22:20Speaker 2: Ooh.
- 22:21Speaker 1: So maybe, or he could have been speeding. He was
- 22:24Speaker 1: in a Camaro. Or he could have been just following
- 22:27Speaker 1: the rules and like a deer jumped out in front
- 22:29Speaker 1: of him or something. We don't know his life.
- 22:32Speaker 2: That's so true. Sorry, guy.
- 22:35Speaker 1: But it sounded like very James Dean to me.
- 22:38Speaker 2: I totally can picture that in like a 70s movie,
- 22:42Speaker 2: like the Camaro, like a muscle shirt. That's a great
- 22:45Speaker 2: imagery with the one headlight out. I love that.
- 22:48Speaker 1: Okay, there is a comment on cohauntedhouses.com, which is Short
- 22:54Speaker 1: for Colorado haunted houses, if you didn't know.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Cassie's a Colorado expert over here.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Watch out.
- 23:01Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 23:01Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 23:02Speaker 2: I try.
- 23:04Speaker 1: The comment says, my friend and I went down the
- 23:06Speaker 1: actual Riverdale Road, and then the branch off is also
- 23:10Speaker 1: named Riverdale Road. So that's confusing. You might get lost
- 23:16Speaker 1: if there's a branch off that's also Riverdale Road. The
- 23:20Speaker 1: branch off was by far more scary and uneasy than
- 23:23Speaker 1: the actual haunted Riverdale Road. I saw headlights chasing us.
- 23:28Speaker 1: And mind you, it was right on our ass. So
- 23:31Speaker 1: she said headlights. So is this the Camaro or is
- 23:36Speaker 1: it not? Because it didn't have just one headlight.
- 23:40Speaker 2: Sorry, I'm like thinking I'm looking at that. The branch
- 23:43Speaker 2: off is Riverdale Road. I was like, that's not correct.
- 23:45Speaker 2: It branches off into something else. But it totally is.
- 23:49Speaker 1: Oh, so you found it.
- 23:52Speaker 2: Yeah, that's so confusing.
- 23:55Speaker 1: That's good to know, though, that it gives... Credibility. Yeah,
- 24:00Speaker 1: credibility to this comment.
- 24:02Speaker 2: And I do not think I've ever been on this road.
- 24:05Speaker 2: Like I said last episode, not intentionally. Maybe. Who knows?
- 24:13Speaker 2: Maybe it was a good day for the Camaro and
- 24:15Speaker 2: both headlights were on, or... maybe it was a different
- 24:18Speaker 2: car but that's so scary it.
- 24:21Speaker 1: Is scary and it gets kind of does it get
- 24:23Speaker 1: scarier wait i don't know if it does am i
- 24:26Speaker 1: about to lie oh it does get scarier okay so
- 24:30Speaker 1: he was right up on their ass and they go
- 24:32Speaker 1: on to say we were recording and none of our
- 24:35Speaker 1: videos had picked up any headlights behind us stop so
- 24:39Speaker 1: that's freaking spooky So they say no one had followed
- 24:43Speaker 1: us onto that road either. So they didn't have like
- 24:47Speaker 1: someone who had turned with them onto the road. They
- 24:49Speaker 1: just saw headlights out of nowhere. I definitely believe there's
- 24:54Speaker 1: something out there. We do plan on going back to
- 24:57Speaker 1: see if we do see anything else because it feels
- 25:00Speaker 1: like there's more haunting on the branch off. So I
- 25:04Speaker 1: need a follow-up story. People driving down the road might
- 25:08Speaker 1: spot a ghostly jogger. And if you stop, he will
- 25:12Speaker 1: tap on the window. I don't know if you could
- 25:16Speaker 1: hear that or not.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Yeah, that was good. That was good.
- 25:19Speaker 1: Or your window might fog up and a handprint will
- 25:22Speaker 1: appear out of nowhere. And I just think of Titanic.
- 25:27Speaker 2: Oh, that's so sexy. I was going to say he
- 25:30Speaker 2: asks you to check to look at his fitness tracker.
- 25:33Speaker 2: He's like, look at my rings. Colorado jogger. oh my
- 25:38Speaker 2: god so tap tap tap and then just a fucking handprint.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Yeah so i don't know why he's steaming up the
- 25:44Speaker 1: back the back seat of the car but or it
- 25:48Speaker 1: doesn't say it doesn't say the back seat i think
- 25:50Speaker 1: i just made that up in my mind it could
- 25:52Speaker 1: be any window on the car but still why is
- 25:55Speaker 1: he fogging up the car oh because he's jogging so
- 25:58Speaker 1: he's moist he's creating humidity.
- 26:01Speaker 2: There's so much happening right now. There's just the imagery
- 26:05Speaker 2: in my brain. I love that you assumed it was
- 26:09Speaker 2: backseat because of a hand on the window. Yeah. And then, yeah,
- 26:13Speaker 2: I guess... If you're running, your body heat is up
- 26:16Speaker 2: or your like lack of body is like, is that
- 26:19Speaker 2: like a, what is that? How does that work?
- 26:21Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 26:22Speaker 2: Is he just like, does the ghost remember being that hot?
- 26:26Speaker 2: And so that is what is projected. Like that's the
- 26:29Speaker 2: temp of the energy or what? Maybe the ghost sweat.
- 26:33Speaker 2: It's like, do they sweat ectoplasm? And then how do
- 26:36Speaker 2: you replenish? Like, what are you? How does the ghost
- 26:39Speaker 2: stay hydrated? Now I'm concerned.
- 26:42Speaker 1: Instead of electrolyte drink, it's an ectoplasm drink.
- 26:45Speaker 2: That's kind of cute. I like that.
- 26:49Speaker 1: Sometimes the street signs on Riverdale Road will have small
- 26:53Speaker 1: bloody handprints on them. And this is thought to be
- 26:56Speaker 1: a young boy who was hit and killed on the
- 26:59Speaker 1: road on his way to school. Oof. I know. And
- 27:02Speaker 1: I'm like, if there was ever an urban legend I
- 27:04Speaker 1: didn't want to be true, I think it's this one.
- 27:07Speaker 2: Yeah, that's really sad.
- 27:08Speaker 1: I think they said they're on, like, the caution signs
- 27:12Speaker 1: on the road. So is he trying to, like, tell people, like, caution,
- 27:16Speaker 1: watch out for little kids walking the road going to school? Oh,
- 27:20Speaker 1: my God.
- 27:21Speaker 2: Cassie. I'm sorry. That's so sad. Is it verifiable that someone, like,
- 27:28Speaker 2: a little kid passed there? No.
- 27:30Speaker 1: Now, like a lot of these things, I can't I
- 27:33Speaker 1: can't verify. They're pretty urban legend. So that's what makes
- 27:39Speaker 1: me feel OK, like talking about it because I don't
- 27:42Speaker 1: think it's true. I don't know. It could be. Who knows?
- 27:48Speaker 1: And of course, people also see a lady in white
- 27:50Speaker 1: walking down the side of the road.
- 27:52Speaker 2: As you do.
- 27:54Speaker 1: There's always got to be a lady in white. There's
- 27:56Speaker 1: not specific stories related to her, but I assume she
- 27:59Speaker 1: kind of either disappears on the side of the road
- 28:03Speaker 1: or like maybe some other ladies in white. She'll get
- 28:06Speaker 1: in your car and ask, you know, to take her
- 28:08Speaker 1: someplace and then disappears. Very typical.
- 28:12Speaker 2: What kind of road in the middle of nowhere or
- 28:15Speaker 2: like not even in the middle of nowhere? What kind
- 28:17Speaker 2: of road at night haunting would you want to experience?
- 28:22Speaker 1: Road at night haunting.
- 28:24Speaker 2: Like those, all the classic ones, or we can even
- 28:27Speaker 2: use these ones, the like hand on the window, someone
- 28:30Speaker 2: asking for a ride and getting in your car and
- 28:32Speaker 2: then vanishing, the headlights. What kind of thing would you
- 28:35Speaker 2: want to walk away with?
- 28:37Speaker 1: Oh, none of them.
- 28:39Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 28:40Speaker 1: This is like one of those questions that, what is it? Like,
- 28:45Speaker 1: which is worse? And none of the answers are good.
- 28:48Speaker 2: Would you rather? Yeah.
- 28:50Speaker 1: I think I'd probably want to experience the foggy windows
- 28:53Speaker 1: and the handprint. I feel like that's the least... Like,
- 28:56Speaker 1: I could probably handle that.
- 28:58Speaker 2: Yeah. That sounds scary to me.
- 29:02Speaker 1: I'm also... Oh, the... Because the car outside was very loud.
- 29:06Speaker 1: It's a Camaro. I'm, like, very paranoid driving anyway. So, like,
- 29:15Speaker 1: things jumping out at me or, like, disappearing or.
- 29:21Speaker 1: Yeah, that would the car like pulling up to my
- 29:24Speaker 1: side or whatever, wanting to race. That would probably just
- 29:26Speaker 1: scare the shit out of me. I don't like that
- 29:28Speaker 1: kind of thing.
- 29:29Speaker 2: No. And then Colorado just has the most aggressive drivers anyway. So,
- 29:34Speaker 2: I would assume real person who like wants to do
- 29:39Speaker 2: some damage. Yeah. And I didn't list this one, but
- 29:43Speaker 2: of our haunting things I've heard, the one that would
- 29:46Speaker 2: traumatize me the least and I would like to tell
- 29:49Speaker 2: the story of is if the radio started doing some
- 29:53Speaker 2: weird shit. Like if a voice suddenly came through on
- 29:56Speaker 2: a stretch of the road or like Turn to a station. Yeah.
- 30:00Speaker 1: See, that would be cool. So speaking of the lady
- 30:03Speaker 1: in white, this was a really funny comment also on
- 30:06Speaker 1: the cohauntedhouses.com. It says, so I was standing there in
- 30:10Speaker 1: the forest after my wedding and a bunch of people
- 30:13Speaker 1: stopped in their cars and just looked at me like,
- 30:16Speaker 1: go do something else. I'm not an attraction in a museum. Anyways,
- 30:21Speaker 1: zero out of 10. Don't hold your wedding at Riverdale Road.
- 30:25Speaker 1: You will get people looking at you.
- 30:27Speaker 2: This might be the only circumstance in which I'd say,
- 30:32Speaker 2: what were you wearing? You were kind of asking for it.
- 30:35Speaker 1: Right? It's horrible. Definitely everyone thought she was the woman
- 30:39Speaker 1: in white. I think that's so funny. Like, I'm not
- 30:42Speaker 1: an attraction. Like, I just got married. But also, why
- 30:45Speaker 1: are you standing on the side of the road?
- 30:47Speaker 2: Yeah. In white.
- 30:49Speaker 1: Like, come on. Yeah.
- 30:51Speaker 2: What do you think is going to happen? I.
- 30:54Speaker 1: I'm gonna victim blame here a little bit I think
- 30:57Speaker 1: she knew what she was doing.
- 30:58Speaker 2: That's really funny I.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Love how she gave it zero out of ten yeah
- 31:04Speaker 1: and this is really spooky so it said that during
- 31:07Speaker 1: a full moon you can see witches hanging in the trees.
- 31:12Speaker 2: Oh my gosh what are how do they know they're
- 31:14Speaker 2: witches then are they what are they wearing.
- 31:17Speaker 1: I think there's a rumor around there that there was
- 31:19Speaker 1: like a witch hanging tree in the area. So I
- 31:23Speaker 1: don't know if that just got spread to like maybe
- 31:25Speaker 1: all of the trees along the road. You can see
- 31:28Speaker 1: it or.
- 31:30Speaker 2: Yeah, because I'm like, a lot of people, you wouldn't
- 31:33Speaker 2: know they're witches just by looking at them. So how
- 31:36Speaker 2: are we deciding that they're witches?
- 31:38Speaker 1: Do they have hats?
- 31:39Speaker 2: Right. Or....
- 31:42Speaker 1: I think it just came from like that witch hanging tree.
- 31:44Speaker 2: Yeah, that makes sense.
- 31:46Speaker 1: So it is rumored that a community of occultists had
- 31:50Speaker 1: lived in the area. Is there a theme with my
- 31:53Speaker 1: two stories, you guys? Remains of rituals and pentagrams carved
- 31:58Speaker 1: in the trees have been found along the road. And
- 32:01Speaker 1: some messages were written on caution signs on Riverdale Road.
- 32:07Speaker 1: One that says, Hitchhikers may be demons. And the other says,
- 32:12Speaker 1: this road is cursed.
- 32:14Speaker 2: That's scary.
- 32:16Speaker 1: There's an old mansion on the road that allegedly a
- 32:20Speaker 1: man burned down with his family inside. And some people
- 32:24Speaker 1: think that he did this because he was possessed. Oh, okay.
- 32:29Speaker 1: Which I could see... thinking like someone who could do
- 32:33Speaker 1: that like maybe maybe there's something more like evil and
- 32:36Speaker 1: sinister going on other than the fact that like a
- 32:39Speaker 1: human actually did this to his family.
- 32:41Speaker 2: Yeah and i mean there are still a lot of
- 32:45Speaker 2: people that believe even if it even if they're attributing
- 32:48Speaker 2: it to that person's mental state there's still like a
- 32:52Speaker 2: belief that that's influenced by demons yeah Yeah, you either
- 32:57Speaker 2: go all demon or it's like, oof, they're just like
- 33:01Speaker 2: so not doing well. Or there's that like hybrid kind
- 33:05Speaker 2: of belief system where it's like they're so not doing
- 33:08Speaker 2: well because of the demons. Either way, hard to cope
- 33:12Speaker 2: with someone doing that to their family.
- 33:14Speaker 1: I know. It reminds me of like, is it like
- 33:17Speaker 1: the Amityville?
- 33:18Speaker 2: That's kind of what I was thinking, too.
- 33:20Speaker 1: The dad killed the family?
- 33:22Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
- 33:24Speaker 1: People say they've seen the mansion's iron gates still standing,
- 33:29Speaker 1: calling them the gates of hell.
- 33:32Speaker 2: It's all connected. Oh, my God.
- 33:34Speaker 1: It's all connected. No one actually knows where the gates are, though.
- 33:39Speaker 1: And some people say that they only appear at certain times,
- 33:44Speaker 1: maybe to certain people, maybe when they want to be seen. Mwahaha.
- 33:50Speaker 2: Is there any way that this could be like a
- 33:52Speaker 2: trick of the light? If they're not there all the time,
- 33:55Speaker 2: is there anything casting shadows that looks like gates? Maybe.
- 33:59Speaker 2: That's not what the show is. I'm sorry. No, they're
- 34:02Speaker 2: apparitions or they're actually, it's a portal.
- 34:04Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 34:05Speaker 2: And it only reveals itself when the time is right
- 34:07Speaker 2: or wrong for the.
- 34:08Speaker 1: No, you know, I like to think of like other alternatives.
- 34:11Speaker 1: There could be, there could be like trees around. It's abandoned, right?
- 34:15Speaker 1: So it could be there's like tall grass.
- 34:18Speaker 2: I don't... I don't know. I love thinking about the
- 34:20Speaker 2: origin of story. So I'm just like.
- 34:23Speaker 1: Me too.
- 34:24Speaker 2: If we play full skeptic, how did that story start?
- 34:28Speaker 2: What was the first thing that the person saw that
- 34:30Speaker 2: made this story, you know, turn into what it is today?
- 34:34Speaker 1: It is hard, though, because we want to believe people.
- 34:36Speaker 2: We want to... Yeah.
- 34:38Speaker 1: I want to believe spooky stories. So we'll just have
- 34:41Speaker 1: to go there and search for the gates to hell ourselves.
- 34:45Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 34:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 34:47Speaker 2: I need a buddy if that's the mission. I was like,
- 34:49Speaker 2: I volunteered to do a couple things. That's not what
- 34:52Speaker 2: I'm doing on my own.
- 34:54Speaker 1: No, no, no, never go alone. Never go on a
- 34:56Speaker 1: search for the gates of hell alone.
- 34:59Speaker 2: And we've always said that.
- 35:01Speaker 1: Okay, do you have one more fun thing for you?
- 35:03Speaker 1: Since I technically didn't really cover things that were in
- 35:06Speaker 1: the Pacific Northwest this time. So I have a 1920s
- 35:12Speaker 1: four-bedroom house in Salem, Oregon, that was listed as a
- 35:17Speaker 1: great opportunity in 2020. Photographs of the property were shared
- 35:21Speaker 1: on social media. One photo shows an inverted pentagram painted
- 35:26Speaker 1: on the basement wall. Another shows a hole in the
- 35:29Speaker 1: wall with open me and find him written above it.
- 35:35Speaker 1: One user calling it a portal to hell.
- 35:38Speaker 2: Oh my gosh. The greatest opportunity. No, thank you.
- 35:44Speaker 1: It's like what kind of opportunity? Like the opportunity to
- 35:49Speaker 1: meet Satan?
- 35:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:51Speaker 1: Is that what we're talking about?
- 35:53Speaker 2: Yeah. Can you be more specific, please? Was this Airbnb?
- 35:58Speaker 1: No, it was a house for sale.
- 36:01Speaker 2: Oh, for sale. Okay.
- 36:03Speaker 1: Just looks like a normal house from the outside.
- 36:06Speaker 2: I really like that door and the... Bit of roof
- 36:10Speaker 2: above it. That trim is really cute.
- 36:12Speaker 1: I know. It seems like a bright and happy, colorful...
- 36:15Speaker 1: It's like yellow and orange.
- 36:17Speaker 2: Yeah. Oh, dear. I told you. Is what is written
- 36:24Speaker 2: on one of the doors. Is it?
- 36:26Speaker 1: Oh, my God. That whole.
- 36:27Speaker 2: This is maybe someone having... just a good laugh or
- 36:34Speaker 2: seeing the lucrative potential of calling anything haunted or satanic.
- 36:41Speaker 2: Maybe I could see that too, but the estate agent
- 36:46Speaker 2: does not acknowledge the creepy wall markings in the listings
- 36:49Speaker 2: description and simply says the inside quote needs full rehab.
- 36:55Speaker 2: but admitted it was cash only and sold as it is.
- 37:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like the great opportunity, the investment would
- 37:04Speaker 1: be like to buy a cheap house and fix it
- 37:07Speaker 1: up and sell it for more.
- 37:08Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe that's what they meant.
- 37:11Speaker 1: But still, like, it's pretty funny. Like, I was thinking,
- 37:15Speaker 1: did they want like a cultist to come and buy it? Like, hey,
- 37:18Speaker 1: this could be your new like home base.
- 37:21Speaker 2: Yeah, totally. Totally.
- 37:23Speaker 1: But funny that people were calling it the portal to
- 37:26Speaker 1: hell based on like a little hole and open me
- 37:29Speaker 1: and find him. Oh my gosh. Have you ever been
- 37:32Speaker 1: to any portals in hell?
- 37:35Speaker 2: Not any that I know of. But I did have
- 37:38Speaker 2: a dream.
- 37:38Speaker 1: Not on purpose.
- 37:39Speaker 2: Not intentionally. I've never intentionally or knowingly wandered into an
- 37:46Speaker 2: actual portal to hell. But I did have a dream
- 37:49Speaker 2: when I was very young. And it stuck with me
- 37:54Speaker 2: in a very intense way about my grandparents' neighbor's house
- 38:00Speaker 2: being a portal to hell. What? The dream was so severe. Like,
- 38:06Speaker 2: it was so... It really, like, affected me. Like, I
- 38:12Speaker 2: don't want... I'd have to, like, recall every single detail. But, like,
- 38:15Speaker 2: the main part of it was, like, Her house had
- 38:19Speaker 2: these tracks running through it, like a train car or
- 38:22Speaker 2: a roller coaster, like tracks running throughout it. And I
- 38:26Speaker 2: remember getting on the ride. And you know in a
- 38:30Speaker 2: dream how you can just sometimes feel that something is
- 38:34Speaker 2: what it is. You don't see it. It's not told you. So, like,
- 38:38Speaker 2: I immediately felt that it was hell. And, like, the
- 38:43Speaker 2: creepiest part of the whole dream, other than the fact that, like,
- 38:45Speaker 2: I remember... talking briefly to the devil he was like
- 38:49Speaker 2: playing these many characters on the ride whoa was that
- 38:53Speaker 2: there was this very lovely spirited classical music playing with
- 38:58Speaker 2: all of it like it was like upbeat classical whoa
- 39:02Speaker 2: like i think i think uh what's that movie with
- 39:06Speaker 2: tony cola and the guy the the head comes off
- 39:10Speaker 2: by the street sign i'm blanking on the name right
- 39:12Speaker 2: now it's From a couple years ago, it's like everyone's
- 39:15Speaker 2: scariest movie, if they're not a big horror person.
- 39:17Speaker 1: Hereditary?
- 39:18Speaker 2: Hereditary, which was very scary. But at the end, when
- 39:22Speaker 2: he finally is crowned and accepts his role as like
- 39:27Speaker 2: the demon or whatever, there's this like really pretty classical
- 39:31Speaker 2: music that plays. And it was like that.
- 39:33Speaker 1: Oh, that's so spooky.
- 39:36Speaker 2: So spooky. And it's never left me. And I kind
- 39:42Speaker 2: of like after that dream, it kind of changed how
- 39:46Speaker 2: I perceived the world around me for a little bit
- 39:50Speaker 2: just because it felt so real. And maybe there was
- 39:53Speaker 2: some dream portal, some astral plane that briefly transported me.
- 40:00Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh, my gosh. That is that's going to affect
- 40:05Speaker 1: me for a minute.
- 40:06Speaker 2: Sorry.
- 40:08Speaker 1: No, I've had a dream like that for sure. That
- 40:11Speaker 1: just like affected you.
- 40:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:13Speaker 1: And it was like I was trapped in the land
- 40:16Speaker 1: of the dead. Yeah. For like years and years. And
- 40:19Speaker 1: I was like a little kid. Oh my God. I
- 40:21Speaker 1: think I was like six or seven when I had
- 40:23Speaker 1: this dream. But I was like trapped for years.
- 40:27Speaker 2: And could you feel that it was years?
- 40:29Speaker 1: Yeah. And then I woke up and I was like,
- 40:32Speaker 1: I don't know like what the world is anymore.
- 40:36Speaker 2: What do you do with that?
- 40:38Speaker 1: I know, especially so young. But yeah, so I totally
- 40:44Speaker 1: like understand the vibe that you just kind of like
- 40:48Speaker 1: know what it is and you weren't told to. Yeah. Well, anyway,
- 40:52Speaker 1: does anyone else have any traumatic dreamage to share with us?
- 40:56Speaker 2: Have you ever been to hell?
- 40:58Speaker 1: Let us know. So we're going to do some tarot
- 41:04Speaker 1: and we have a Thoth deck.
- 41:07Speaker 2: Oh, yay.
- 41:08Speaker 1: Which was like Alistair Crowley's deck so I thought we
- 41:12Speaker 1: could use that today that sounds fun love it it
- 41:16Speaker 1: is different than normal tarot so I have the interpretation
- 41:20Speaker 1: book sometimes what comes out is a little um crazy
- 41:25Speaker 1: and doesn't make like a ton of sense so we'll
- 41:27Speaker 1: see what like what we get I'm excited it's very
- 41:30Speaker 1: esoteric you know some of your vibes Your Gates portal
- 41:38Speaker 1: to hell vibe.
- 41:39Speaker 2: Portal to hell, the liminalness of Los Angeles.
- 41:44Speaker 1: Oh, so spooky. Okay, so I am at a desk here.
- 41:49Speaker 1: I can kind of, I can spread these out. So
- 41:53Speaker 1: do you want me to just like run a finger
- 41:55Speaker 1: along these and you kind of tell me when to stop?
- 41:57Speaker 1: Or are you feeling like a certain keyboard spot?
- 42:02Speaker 2: Oh, actually, I'm going to try to visualize. Okay, tell
- 42:06Speaker 2: me when you're starting and then I'll tell you when
- 42:08Speaker 2: to stop.
- 42:09Speaker 1: Okay, I'm starting running a finger along the spread out cards.
- 42:15Speaker 1: That one kind of like poked out too when I
- 42:17Speaker 1: ran my finger across it.
- 42:18Speaker 2: Okay.
- 42:19Speaker 1: Oh, okay. So we got the knight of discs. A
- 42:23Speaker 1: knight dressed in black on a horse.
- 42:27Speaker 2: My first instinct, just so maybe a disclaimer. This was
- 42:31Speaker 2: my second instinct card. The first one was like right
- 42:35Speaker 2: after you said I'm starting. Like the second card or like, yeah.
- 42:40Speaker 1: The second card is interesting. It's Dominion.
- 42:44Speaker 2: We should do both.
- 42:45Speaker 1: I'm down. Oh, it does say wands on it. There's like,
- 42:49Speaker 1: I don't know if you can see. There's like a
- 42:51Speaker 1: tiny little word at the bottom that says dominion and
- 42:54Speaker 1: like shadowy behind it says wands.
- 42:57Speaker 2: That's horrible design. Sorry, but.
- 43:00Speaker 1: Okay, so it's two of wands is what the dominion
- 43:03Speaker 1: card is. It says, ooh, the flames of the will.
- 43:09Speaker 1: flames like a portal to hell or the gates to
- 43:12Speaker 1: hell would have flames for sure.
- 43:14Speaker 2: Am i connected or am i connected.
- 43:16Speaker 1: You knew instinct goal assertiveness conquest and rulership light so
- 43:25Speaker 1: the light part of this card is impulse courage to
- 43:28Speaker 1: take action and the shadow quality is destructiveness oh that's
- 43:34Speaker 1: kind of like what we were saying like of the occultists.
- 43:37Speaker 2: I also relate to that card on a personal level.
- 43:40Speaker 1: Totally. This card presents to us the ambiguity concealed in
- 43:46Speaker 1: every symbol. We see two crossed, I don't know these words,
- 43:51Speaker 1: they're some sort of weapons, two crossed weapons, which as
- 43:55Speaker 1: thunderbolts signify the divine power of the destructiveness of good
- 44:01Speaker 1: as well as evil. That kind of reminds me of
- 44:04Speaker 1: like a gateway because it says like two crossed things.
- 44:08Speaker 1: I don't know. Oh, so this is interesting. They wear
- 44:12Speaker 1: demon masks on their ends, expressing fear as well as
- 44:16Speaker 1: magically overcoming it. Oh, they do have like little demon
- 44:21Speaker 1: masks on the little daggers. That's so cool.
- 44:26Speaker 2: I really like that card.
- 44:28Speaker 1: You know what I noticed too? I do too. Like
- 44:31Speaker 1: the coloring on it. So it reminds me of water
- 44:34Speaker 1: and like fire on top of water. Like maybe a dam. Yeah.
- 44:38Speaker 1: Oh my God.
- 44:38Speaker 2: Just saying. Yeah.
- 44:42Speaker 1: And the fact that there's like demons on it too.
- 44:44Speaker 1: And we've been talking about demons and possession.
- 44:47Speaker 2: Well, dominion makes me think of devils too. I don't
- 44:52Speaker 2: know if it's inherently related, but.
- 44:54Speaker 1: Right, I was wondering if it's going to say what
- 44:56Speaker 1: that word means because I don't exactly know. On another level,
- 45:00Speaker 1: the daggers are phallic symbols. Of course they are. And
- 45:04Speaker 1: show the procreative as well as the destructive power of sexuality. Okay,
- 45:11Speaker 1: it's more of the same stuff. Something about snakes. They
- 45:14Speaker 1: can either keel or heel. Okay, it basically is a
- 45:18Speaker 1: giant paragraph that says the same thing 12 different times.
- 45:22Speaker 2: Okay, fair. Like me.
- 45:24Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, kind of. Energetically, the two is equivalent to
- 45:29Speaker 1: the first formation of the fire from the still unformulated
- 45:34Speaker 1: source of ideas. What does that even mean? This book
- 45:39Speaker 1: is nonsense.
- 45:40Speaker 2: Does it mean like the concept of fire?
- 45:42Speaker 1: I guess so.
- 45:44Speaker 2: It's esoteric, so it's whatever you want it to mean.
- 45:48Speaker 2: You're so funny. This book is nonsense. Zero out of
- 45:52Speaker 2: 10 stars.
- 45:53Speaker 1: I hate it. I'm not into it. Let's never do
- 45:56Speaker 1: this again. The card then describes the spontaneous energy of
- 46:01Speaker 1: fire or the unbridled aimless fire spirit, which finds it
- 46:07Speaker 1: more important to want than to act. So like maybe
- 46:11Speaker 1: want to raise the Antichrist, but like don't actually do it.
- 46:16Speaker 2: That's what I took it as as well.
- 46:18Speaker 1: It sees its task in the expression of its will
- 46:21Speaker 1: and not so much in the attainment of the goal.
- 46:25Speaker 1: At the same time, it is driven by an undirected
- 46:28Speaker 1: power taking new paths upon which there are often interesting
- 46:33Speaker 1: possibilities for development without considering the possible shambles.
- 46:38Speaker 2: Well, I didn't say it earlier, but I was thinking
- 46:41Speaker 2: about even if none of this started as true supernatural
- 46:47Speaker 2: like activity or whatever. I was thinking about the power
- 46:49Speaker 2: of story, like Dana and Greg. Thank you. Greg and
- 46:54Speaker 2: Dana Newkirk. Yes.
- 46:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 46:57Speaker 2: On their tour last year where they were trying to
- 47:00Speaker 2: haunt an object.
- 47:01Speaker 1: Yes.
- 47:03Speaker 2: Speaking to the power of want versus action or like,
- 47:06Speaker 2: I think there's just something there for me where I'm like,
- 47:10Speaker 2: maybe it's very possible to manifest hell. Maybe it is
- 47:13Speaker 2: only there because we are telling the stories of it
- 47:16Speaker 2: kind of thing. Right.
- 47:18Speaker 1: I do agree with that. Yeah. I also got to
- 47:21Speaker 1: help haunt those dolls. I'm so jealous. Okay. And it
- 47:25Speaker 1: has like a little Aries symbol on it too.
- 47:28Speaker 2: Ooh. Okay.
- 47:30Speaker 1: So it says Mars and Aries, the Roman, the Romans
- 47:33Speaker 1: called the battering ram. with which they broke down the
- 47:37Speaker 1: gates of besieged fortresses, Ares, and astrological name of the ram.
- 47:44Speaker 1: But it says something about breaking down the gates. That's interesting.
- 47:47Speaker 2: That's crazy.
- 47:49Speaker 1: On an inner level, this card encourages us to deal
- 47:51Speaker 1: with the theme of violence.
- 47:53Speaker 2: Do we want to read the other card?
- 47:55Speaker 1: Yeah. Okay, so the Knight of Disks, the father of
- 47:59Speaker 1: the harvest and the fructifying power?
- 48:02Speaker 2: Yeah, see, they don't make it easy.
- 48:05Speaker 1: What is fructifying?
- 48:07Speaker 2: And you are saying things great, by the way. I'm
- 48:09Speaker 2: looking it up. Fructifying is the present participle form of
- 48:13Speaker 2: the verb fructify. You didn't need us. Okay. Beth didn't
- 48:17Speaker 2: need to start with that. Duh. Which means to bear fruit.
- 48:22Speaker 2: It'd be funny if it just stopped there. Right.
- 48:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 48:25Speaker 2: To bear fruit, make productive or yield a profitable and
- 48:27Speaker 2: useful result.
- 48:29Speaker 1: So like the word I would know would be fruitful.
- 48:32Speaker 2: Right.
- 48:32Speaker 1: But it does say it's like the father of the
- 48:34Speaker 1: harvest too. So that makes sense.
- 48:36Speaker 2: So it is the reason that something would be fruitful.
- 48:41Speaker 2: You fructify and I guess that makes it fruitful. Be
- 48:43Speaker 2: kind of the way to think about that. Okay.
- 48:46Speaker 1: Okay.
- 48:46Speaker 2: Oh, I see.
- 48:47Speaker 1: Okay. We're getting somewhere. We're learning.
- 48:51Speaker 2: Maybe.
- 48:51Speaker 1: Would this like be the devil because he fructifies hell
- 48:56Speaker 1: with his souls?
- 48:58Speaker 2: Maybe.
- 48:58Speaker 1: Yeah. Instinct, surviving for possession, security, intangible things. Goal, duration, stability,
- 49:09Speaker 1: and internal values. Light, endurance, reason, strength, and patience. Strict, authoritarian, weighty,
- 49:19Speaker 1: and tenacious. This sounds like the devil to me. It does.
- 49:13Speaker 2: Whoa. Wow.
- 49:14Speaker 1: So the devil has some insecurities.
- 49:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 49:37Speaker 1: Yeah, he totally envies God.
- 49:40Speaker 2: And you're right, that is a he.
- 49:41Speaker 1: Like, that's what I took from that.
- 49:43Speaker 2: That is a he in this case. The devil is male.
- 49:45Speaker 1: That's true. If he's feeling like that, yeah. Ooh, quality. Interesting.
- 50:02Speaker 1: the father of the harvest and the procreative power represents
- 50:06Speaker 1: the fiery, fructifying spirit of Mother Earth. Are you trying
- 50:10Speaker 1: to take her credit?
- 50:12Speaker 2: That's what it sounds like. And I never thought about
- 50:15Speaker 2: the devil as bad. Like when you break it down
- 50:18Speaker 2: and why the devil is the devil, it's just the
- 50:22Speaker 2: human parts of human. But this doesn't sound great.
- 50:27Speaker 1: I know. But it does say he cares for the
- 50:29Speaker 1: animals and plants, which is why... he carries a flail
- 50:34Speaker 1: instead of a sword. Oh, he does have like a
- 50:37Speaker 1: whippy thing instead of a sword. So he whips everything
- 50:40Speaker 1: into shape.
- 50:41Speaker 2: Or maybe it's more with like the dogmatic stuff. Maybe
- 50:45Speaker 2: this is more about like the L. Ron Hubbard, the
- 50:48Speaker 2: NASA guy and Alistair Crowley than it is about the
- 50:51Speaker 2: devil directly.
- 50:52Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe I could see that. The massive armor of
- 50:57Speaker 1: the knight also expresses the limitation caused by his all-too-earthly instincts,
- 51:04Speaker 1: separating him from the spiritual sources of light. This explains
- 51:09Speaker 1: his often short-sighted behavior when, for the sake of material gain,
- 51:14Speaker 1: he plunders Mother Earth through the clearing of forests, over-fertilizing
- 51:18Speaker 1: of fields, or catching fish in great quantities. But that's like,
- 51:23Speaker 1: I think, showing like the both sides of it. Like
- 51:26Speaker 1: I think it's trying to show, like it kind of
- 51:28Speaker 1: talked about in the upper portion of this the light
- 51:32Speaker 1: and the shadow good point so it's kind of like
- 51:34Speaker 1: each card has like two different vibes kind of like
- 51:38Speaker 1: when we do tarot when we do like reverse and
- 51:41Speaker 1: yeah not reverse it is interesting though it keeps saying
- 51:45Speaker 1: like fiery and that the card is very like orange
- 51:48Speaker 1: and red too which is also you know what kind
- 51:52Speaker 1: of looks fiery and fall yeah and fall that book
- 51:57Speaker 1: I forgot like how bad it is.
- 52:00Speaker 2: It's a lot. It's definitely, I guess, yeah, esoteric, if
- 52:05Speaker 2: not just self-indulgent.
- 52:07Speaker 1: Yeah. But I think I really do like the cards
- 52:10Speaker 1: we got, though. Like, just the imagery on them, both
- 52:13Speaker 1: kind of fiery.
- 52:15Speaker 2: I am glad that I asked you to do the
- 52:17Speaker 2: second card, after all. The Dominion one. Yeah.
- 52:21Speaker 1: I like that one, too. It's a good one.
- 52:23Speaker 2: All right.
- 52:24Speaker 1: Well, if you guys have anything to say about the
- 52:27Speaker 1: interpretations there, if you can.
- 52:31Speaker 1: If you're a little more esoteric than me, which I
- 52:33Speaker 1: think Taylin is a little bit. She kind of helped
- 52:35Speaker 1: explain some of that for me because that was not.
- 52:38Speaker 2: But like. Not good. That's not even. Those are just
- 52:43Speaker 2: my interpretations.
- 52:45Speaker 1: I couldn't even make heads or tails of it. So
- 52:47Speaker 1: at least you did something with it.
- 52:49Speaker 2: I think that if I was the one reading it
- 52:51Speaker 2: to you, you would probably have the luxury of.
- 52:54Speaker 1: Maybe could process it a little better.
- 52:57Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe.
- 52:59Speaker 1: Maybe listening back, I'll have some more thoughts.
- 53:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 53:02Speaker 1: I'll just keep them to myself.
- 53:03Speaker 2: And you did read those well. Those are clunky sentences
- 53:06Speaker 2: to get through. Oh, God.
- 53:09Speaker 1: And I still have a cold. So like I'm trying
- 53:11Speaker 1: to not snort through the sentence as well. Okay. Well,
- 53:17Speaker 1: I think we should probably say goodbye for this week.
- 53:22Speaker 1: And have a creepy ass day. We'll see you next Thursday.
- 53:29Speaker 1: Unless you stumble through a portal to hell and you
- 53:32Speaker 1: fall down there and have a hoedown with the devil.
- 53:37Speaker 2: Or find a suspicious looking house that is a great opportunity.
- 53:42Speaker 2: And you simply have to invest.
- 53:45Speaker 1: And also a hole.
- 53:46Speaker 2: And also a hole. Find a hole, have a hoedown.
- 53:50Speaker 2: It's a great opportunity.
