- 0:15Speaker 1: it because I'm excited.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Not only it's like week one coming up.
- 0:19Speaker 1: Not only are we done with training camp, We're not
- 0:21Speaker 1: looking behind, we look in the head and talking about ahead.
- 0:24Speaker 1: I've got a great guy to come talk football with me. ALLEI, football,
- 0:27Speaker 1: a little pop culture, a little bit of everything. I've
- 0:30Speaker 1: got nothing but an extreme respect for this this man,
- 0:32Speaker 1: this myth, this legend who's taking football to a whole
- 0:36Speaker 1: another meaning beyond the grid iron, from his playing days
- 0:40Speaker 1: to being an analyst, to being colored commentary to hosting
- 0:43Speaker 1: a TV show to you know, hosting what.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Extra for a little bit.
- 0:48Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know what you haven't touched, Nate
- 0:51Speaker 1: Burrow said, you know, just just appreciate you spent some
- 0:54Speaker 1: time a former All American at the University of Nevada.
- 0:58Speaker 3: You know, I appreciate it. I love I love doing this.
- 1:01Speaker 2: I love doing it.
- 1:02Speaker 4: Thank you for the love, thank you for the intel.
- 1:04Speaker 4: I feel, the energy and the vibe. I appreciate you
- 1:06Speaker 4: having me on. You know, I'm a big fan of
- 1:08Speaker 4: you on and off the field, so it's only right.
- 1:10Speaker 1: I pull up, No doubt, look very familiar, you know,
- 1:15Speaker 1: just feels extended family everywhere I see you, and I'm like,
- 1:19Speaker 1: how's how's my.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Channel worth doing?
- 1:21Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying, No doubt White, she went
- 1:23Speaker 4: to Channel in high school. She's always representing Arizona everywhere
- 1:26Speaker 4: she go to run.
- 1:27Speaker 3: A joke in the house is I know Mom, I know, Mom,
- 1:30Speaker 3: Arizona does it better. She truly does feel that way.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Hey, It's true, nobody, absolutely, I see town's finest. I mean,
- 1:42Speaker 1: there's a few of us that got out and we
- 1:43Speaker 1: hold us down, you know, back home properly.
- 1:47Speaker 3: Yeah, y'all do y'all represent y'all well.
- 1:49Speaker 4: Before we get to anything, I have to say this,
- 1:50Speaker 4: and I gotta say it on camp because I appreciate
- 1:52Speaker 4: you for it. I reached out to you because my
- 1:54Speaker 4: son switched positions from tight end to d N and
- 1:58Speaker 4: I was like, Yo, I need some pointers and he's
- 2:00Speaker 4: trying to learn the position. And just like you do,
- 2:03Speaker 4: always willing to help somebody, you reached out, reached back
- 2:06Speaker 4: out right away. You gave some notes, some tips, some nuggets,
- 2:10Speaker 4: and then you said some clips. You were like, have
- 2:12Speaker 4: them look at these clips and anything else you need
- 2:14Speaker 4: holler at me.
- 2:15Speaker 3: I sent that right to them. So I just want
- 2:16Speaker 3: to say I appreciate you.
- 2:17Speaker 4: Know, in this brotherhood there's people that live by it
- 2:20Speaker 4: and ride by it, and they really truly do act
- 2:22Speaker 4: like brothers. So I appreciate you showing up for my
- 2:24Speaker 4: family like it's your family.
- 2:26Speaker 2: No doubt.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Hey, look, if if I got access, if my son
- 2:30Speaker 1: ever wants to be like a wide receiver, I know
- 2:32Speaker 1: exactly you mar Jo's keithon Ally, if I need a quarterback, Jared.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Like I'm using it.
- 2:41Speaker 4: Like if we work this hard not to have the connection,
- 2:44Speaker 4: you ain't everybody else does. So I'm not gonna be
- 2:47Speaker 4: shy about it. I'm gonna set my ego aside. I'm
- 2:49Speaker 4: gonna reach out.
- 2:49Speaker 3: To my brethren.
- 2:50Speaker 1: I mean, not that you need them with your with
- 2:52Speaker 1: your resume, I mean you probably you probably played a
- 2:54Speaker 1: little safety back in the little corner man.
- 2:56Speaker 4: I'm all state cornerback and wide receiver, so on both
- 2:59Speaker 4: sides of the ball.
- 3:00Speaker 3: You know what I mean. That's now.
- 3:01Speaker 4: I was the knucklehead when I caught the ball and
- 3:03Speaker 4: never wanted to go out of bounds because I kind
- 3:04Speaker 4: of lightweight, wanted to smoke. I wanted to hit until
- 3:07Speaker 4: I got a little bit too old, and then hits
- 3:09Speaker 4: started to slow me down.
- 3:11Speaker 3: You remember when when you were young and we.
- 3:13Speaker 4: Were invincible, You remember that, Like, listen, I still feel
- 3:17Speaker 4: that way. I know you do, and I try. I'm
- 3:19Speaker 4: not trying to say you old. I'm saying you're older.
- 3:22Speaker 4: But the mindset at least now you're hyper aware of
- 3:25Speaker 4: your body and you know.
- 3:26Speaker 3: Like what is going to keep you on the field
- 3:28Speaker 3: and what can take you out.
- 3:29Speaker 4: When we first got in the game, bro, it didn't
- 3:32Speaker 4: matter what they threw my way. I'm like, I'm bouncing back.
- 3:34Speaker 4: They're like, now you're gonna be out four weeks. I'm like,
- 3:36Speaker 4: I'll be back here for days. What are you talking about?
- 3:39Speaker 2: Right? No?
- 3:40Speaker 1: No, see see with science as it is now, you know,
- 3:44Speaker 1: with the now.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Hey, I've still only missed two games in my entire year.
- 3:51Speaker 3: That's crazy.
- 3:51Speaker 4: You're you're an anomaly though, You're you're an outlier when
- 3:54Speaker 4: it comes to the rest of us.
- 3:56Speaker 1: So what so if you played defense in high school,
- 3:58Speaker 1: what made you toward turned towards just being a pure
- 4:01Speaker 1: bride receiver covering out eleven year eleven year NFL career.
- 4:05Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, listen.
- 4:07Speaker 4: I didn't mind playing cornerback, but there was something about
- 4:11Speaker 4: the position of wide receiver where I felt like I
- 4:14Speaker 4: had more opportunities to be the hero, and at cornerback
- 4:17Speaker 4: you have more opportunities to be the villain because even
- 4:21Speaker 4: if you make player after player at the play.
- 4:23Speaker 3: You give up that big one. People are on your neck.
- 4:26Speaker 4: And for me, as a young kid, I was fifteen,
- 4:28Speaker 4: sixteen seventeen, I was thinking about staying out of the
- 4:32Speaker 4: headlines for the wrong reasons and being the guy they
- 4:35Speaker 4: praised for the right reasons.
- 4:36Speaker 3: And I remember my senior year.
- 4:38Speaker 4: We were a running school, so I had like sixteen catches,
- 4:42Speaker 4: but seven of them with for touchdowns. So there were
- 4:44Speaker 4: schools that were looking at me and they're like, we
- 4:46Speaker 4: feel like he's a good wide receiver, we just don't
- 4:48Speaker 4: have enough on tape. Now we know he's a good corner,
- 4:51Speaker 4: solid height, almost six to two. He hasn't been scored
- 4:54Speaker 4: on all senior year. He could jump through the gym,
- 4:58Speaker 4: so what are we going to recruit him as? So
- 5:00Speaker 4: some teams came in there like, look, we'll recruit you
- 5:02Speaker 4: as both, but we want you to play corner. And
- 5:04Speaker 4: then Nevada out of all the teams that were recruiting me.
- 5:07Speaker 4: They sat in my living room and I remember the
- 5:09Speaker 4: coach was like, so.
- 5:10Speaker 3: So, how many catches you have this year? This is
- 5:12Speaker 3: my senior year, you know what I mean.
- 5:14Speaker 4: I'm doing my final round of meeting with the coaches,
- 5:16Speaker 4: and I'm like sixteen something like that.
- 5:20Speaker 3: He's like, We'll get you that in one game, son,
- 5:23Speaker 3: And I'm like, huh.
- 5:24Speaker 4: He's like, man, we were top five and passing this year,
- 5:27Speaker 4: number four and passing last year.
- 5:28Speaker 3: We throw the ball.
- 5:30Speaker 4: I promise you if you come to Nevada, we will
- 5:32Speaker 4: get you sixteen catches in a game.
- 5:34Speaker 3: And I'm like, damn.
- 5:36Speaker 4: So showing up three years later against San Jose, say
- 5:40Speaker 4: that at nineteen catches.
- 5:41Speaker 3: They threw the ball to me twenty one times.
- 5:43Speaker 4: So they held their word because you know, once they
- 5:46Speaker 4: told me that, I said, oh, it's a rap. Why
- 5:48Speaker 4: am I going anywhere else? I don't even know what
- 5:50Speaker 4: it feels like to get the ball thrown on me
- 5:51Speaker 4: that much.
- 5:52Speaker 3: I need to be at Nevada.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Look come going from going from Seattle to Noveda.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Yeah you was.
- 6:01Speaker 1: You was sixty five degrees year round, man, cloudy, overcast,
- 6:06Speaker 1: luscious green, everywhere to Nevada.
- 6:09Speaker 2: You, yeah, University of Nevada.
- 6:10Speaker 4: Yeah, and where you can't breathe can't where it gets
- 6:14Speaker 4: super hot because it's desert, and then super cold because
- 6:18Speaker 4: the mountains are nearby. It's not like Vegas, where it's
- 6:20Speaker 4: hot all the time. It's a little bit different. So
- 6:22Speaker 4: I was getting used to that. You know what's that
- 6:24Speaker 4: cold weather came around. I was like, oh, boy, if
- 6:27Speaker 4: I ever get the chance to make it in the league,
- 6:29Speaker 4: I hope I don't go to a cold weather location.
- 6:32Speaker 3: And then Minnesota.
- 6:36Speaker 2: You said, just like that, I'm going third round.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Let me.
- 6:39Speaker 2: I appreciate you.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Let me.
- 6:40Speaker 3: Let me. Let me go over to the borough of
- 6:42Speaker 3: the cold Factory and the grab a shoot jackets. I'm
- 6:44Speaker 3: on my way, many.
- 6:47Speaker 1: I don't know nothing about that. I don't want no
- 6:49Speaker 1: part of cold. I don't even like my air conditioning
- 6:51Speaker 1: hidden under seventy. That's why i'd excuse you who touched
- 6:55Speaker 1: a thermostat.
- 6:55Speaker 4: Okay, but but how do you Okay, so how do
- 6:58Speaker 4: you get your mind right for those cold weather games?
- 7:01Speaker 4: Because listen, personally, personally, you don't want to live in
- 7:05Speaker 4: cold weather, and people act like, oh, because you're a
- 7:07Speaker 4: football player, you guys are impervious to the weather.
- 7:11Speaker 3: No, no, no, hold all the time. Hold.
- 7:14Speaker 4: Weather games are terrible, don't I don't care if it
- 7:17Speaker 4: looks like a classic NFL Films episode.
- 7:20Speaker 3: It's cold. So my question to you is.
- 7:22Speaker 4: How did you prepare your mind for those whole weather
- 7:25Speaker 4: games when you have to play outside?
- 7:27Speaker 1: Honestly, I was blessed by Jesus as a chosen child.
- 7:32Speaker 3: Crazy right now, Cam.
- 7:34Speaker 2: It took me to bro. It took me to year
- 7:37Speaker 2: well to play in a snow game.
- 7:40Speaker 3: That's crazy.
- 7:41Speaker 1: I started playing at thirteen. I was thirty two or
- 7:44Speaker 1: thirty three by the time I played my first snow game.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Chose because that's what I'm saying, Bro.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Because of that game alone, I picked up the family
- 7:52Speaker 1: and I moved to Spain as soon as season was over.
- 7:55Speaker 1: That game happened from New Year's that happened Christmas Eve whatever?
- 8:00Speaker 2: What was that twenty three? Maybe?
- 8:03Speaker 1: We played the trash Cleveland, the Cleveland Browns. And when
- 8:07Speaker 1: I tell you that frozen negative like thirty eight with
- 8:10Speaker 1: the windshield, I went from like like just a oh
- 8:13Speaker 1: I played in a forty degree game. I was like, no,
- 8:14Speaker 1: ain't cold it it could it could snow today and
- 8:17Speaker 1: then it's like the sun comes out, the sky clears up,
- 8:20Speaker 1: and I was like, you know, like I've seen that.
- 8:22Speaker 2: I didn't get that in Cleveland. Cleveland, it was snowing
- 8:24Speaker 2: when we.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Landed, it was snowing through and they're like, no, it's
- 8:27Speaker 1: going to warm up game day. I was like, okay,
- 8:29Speaker 1: it's going to warm up. Should be hopefully thirty.
- 8:31Speaker 2: I can do that.
- 8:32Speaker 1: I'm into the COLTEB before I get into COTEB once
- 8:34Speaker 1: a year before the playoffs. That's the only time you'll
- 8:37Speaker 1: see me in the cotub with the D line because
- 8:39Speaker 1: of the D line. Other than that, I walk into
- 8:42Speaker 1: Cleveland and when I tell you, nothing prepared me for
- 8:45Speaker 1: that day, Like the wind ripped through whatever I was wearing,
- 8:49Speaker 1: touched my soul. My soul looked at myself and said,
- 8:52Speaker 1: are we really doing this dumb stuff? And I got angry,
- 8:54Speaker 1: like and I'm normally a happy, jovial menace, like I
- 8:58Speaker 1: want to be a minister society.
- 9:01Speaker 2: This took me to a whole nother place.
- 9:02Speaker 3: This was like dark.
- 9:04Speaker 1: I'm speaking like Morrow, so angry. We hit Nick Chubb,
- 9:09Speaker 1: and Nick Chubb is a great dude. I push off
- 9:11Speaker 1: of them off the ground. I'm like, this is stupid.
- 9:13Speaker 1: I'm on at Deshaun Watson. You said this was legendary.
- 9:17Speaker 3: This is trash.
- 9:18Speaker 2: You lie.
- 9:19Speaker 1: And he's over here looking at me, like what are
- 9:20Speaker 1: you talking about? We said a text message, probably the
- 9:22Speaker 1: season before we're thinking about recruiting. I'm like, I'm like, hey, bro,
- 9:25Speaker 1: you might want to.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Check it out here, you know what I'm saying before
- 9:27Speaker 2: you make your move.
- 9:27Speaker 1: And he was like, yo, I gotta do something legendary
- 9:29Speaker 1: and he got to pull the guaranteed job.
- 9:31Speaker 2: And I was like, this ain't legendary. You're a liar.
- 9:33Speaker 2: I'm good for you.
- 9:34Speaker 4: Like it doesn't make you mad for real, Like it
- 9:37Speaker 4: changes your whole personality, bro, Like especially like listen, you
- 9:41Speaker 4: can let certain stuff slide on a weather a regular
- 9:45Speaker 4: weather day, like an extra shove or somebody does something
- 9:48Speaker 4: on a pile or go your way.
- 9:51Speaker 3: It's almost like I'm playing football, getting paid a ton
- 9:54Speaker 3: of money.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Whatever.
- 9:56Speaker 3: I'll see your next play when it's whole.
- 9:58Speaker 4: If somebody that's something to annoy You're like, bro, I
- 10:01Speaker 4: like what we want to kill you right now, but I can't.
- 10:03Speaker 1: All the way No, No, I'm going to get my get
- 10:06Speaker 1: back next play bro. Like I said, I'm mushing guys
- 10:09Speaker 1: off the ground like this stupid like getting up like
- 10:13Speaker 1: and I normally would.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Like that person.
- 10:14Speaker 3: Yeah, no doubt so so so are you?
- 10:17Speaker 4: Are you like me or at least how I was
- 10:20Speaker 4: a lot of dudes when we would get the lock
- 10:22Speaker 4: the schedule like this is when like we would get
- 10:25Speaker 4: it by paper in the locker room.
- 10:26Speaker 3: I'm dating myself, but it's oh three and like the like.
- 10:30Speaker 4: Hardcore like lost in the season already football players. They
- 10:36Speaker 4: was thinking about like specific matchups and I'm gonna face
- 10:39Speaker 4: this dude that I hate and I can't wait to
- 10:41Speaker 4: score here and all me receiver, I was.
- 10:44Speaker 3: Like this, Oh, oh we got Miami in December. Oh
- 10:48Speaker 3: we got Green Band September.
- 10:50Speaker 4: Okay, oh we got we got La Like it was
- 10:55Speaker 4: for me. All I was thinking about was weather. I
- 10:58Speaker 4: didn't care about the defenses, the skis, the coaches, the players.
- 11:02Speaker 4: I went through the schedule.
- 11:03Speaker 3: And I'm like, that's that's crazy, kind of cold back
- 11:08Speaker 3: to one. That's how I feel.
- 11:11Speaker 2: That said, that's crazy.
- 11:12Speaker 4: You had Green Bay Facts in Chicago, you know Chicago
- 11:17Speaker 4: nasty and certain.
- 11:18Speaker 5: Well don't I don't know.
- 11:20Speaker 2: I catch them early I always.
- 11:22Speaker 3: Did you catch them early? That's true?
- 11:25Speaker 2: I mean is there field trash?
- 11:26Speaker 4: Yeah, build his trash, feel this trash, But don't you
- 11:30Speaker 4: rather have that or field turf?
- 11:32Speaker 2: I love turf.
- 11:33Speaker 1: I'm on I'm on the fence side of I love
- 11:35Speaker 1: turf because the most important thing for me is my
- 11:38Speaker 1: get off and on grass. Guess what flies first when
- 11:42Speaker 1: you're really trying to get out your first grass?
- 11:45Speaker 2: Of what that first step be? Got slipped?
- 11:49Speaker 3: Like? Yeah, I like turf. There's a lot of there's
- 11:52Speaker 3: a yeah, not practicing it.
- 11:53Speaker 4: But a lot of guys they don't feel that, especially
- 11:55Speaker 4: out of here in New York.
- 11:56Speaker 3: They feel got the worst of the worst. I don't
- 11:58Speaker 3: really know, you know what I'm saying. I can't. I
- 12:01Speaker 3: came in when I had a little bit.
- 12:02Speaker 4: Of turf and like straight up old school carpet turf
- 12:05Speaker 4: at Metro Dome in Minnesota.
- 12:08Speaker 3: We was running.
- 12:08Speaker 4: It was it was a thin layer of carpet on
- 12:11Speaker 4: top of hardcore concrete.
- 12:13Speaker 3: I'm not gonna now it hurt when you need to grab,
- 12:14Speaker 3: but I'm not gonna lie to you.
- 12:16Speaker 4: Once you got up the full speed, you are burning
- 12:18Speaker 4: and turning, rolling, rolling.
- 12:21Speaker 1: I want to see your best eleven versus my best
- 12:23Speaker 1: eleven and then turf gives you the best chance. Grass
- 12:26Speaker 1: fat people like grass, office Aligneman love grass.
- 12:30Speaker 4: Slot like oh man, a little bigger down in there,
- 12:34Speaker 4: grabbing on it outside of your shoulder.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Past, no doubt.
- 12:38Speaker 1: The bigger corners love love grass a fact, like a
- 12:41Speaker 1: big corner loves one because now they can use their
- 12:44Speaker 1: big body and you know, lean on you and everything else.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Absolutely, but that cold weather is different.
- 12:50Speaker 1: How much do you think, Like I don't think Michael
- 12:53Speaker 1: Parsons knows what he signed up for. Like, you know,
- 12:55Speaker 1: you go from Dallas where you play the Giant. Sure
- 12:59Speaker 1: you play the command, but you're not in a Lambo shape,
- 13:02Speaker 1: Like now you're guaranteed eight to nine games in lambo.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Four of those games frozen Ton. Yeah.
- 13:08Speaker 3: People were hitting me up, like what do you think
- 13:10Speaker 3: about the parcels deal? What do you think about Jerry
- 13:13Speaker 3: Jones letting him go? What do you think about the
- 13:15Speaker 3: new contract?
- 13:15Speaker 4: What do you think about the taxes going from Texas
- 13:19Speaker 4: to his cousin.
- 13:20Speaker 3: I'm like, bro, that's all fine and dandy. That's none
- 13:22Speaker 3: of my business. I'm not pocket watching. I'm thinking about
- 13:24Speaker 3: the weapon.
- 13:25Speaker 4: I'm thinking about him being outside of that dome and
- 13:29Speaker 4: being outside in the elements in Green Bay.
- 13:33Speaker 3: Listen, the first couple of months you good, even like
- 13:36Speaker 3: even like.
- 13:36Speaker 4: Late October early November, you'll get away with some chili games.
- 13:39Speaker 3: But really it's just like, all right, this is chili
- 13:41Speaker 3: game football.
- 13:42Speaker 4: But when you get into December, Green Bay brouh like,
- 13:46Speaker 4: it's different. I remember I remember one of my first
- 13:49Speaker 4: playoff games. There, snow's coming down. We walk into the
- 13:53Speaker 4: locker room. Randy Moss is sitting there, and I'm young,
- 13:57Speaker 4: so I'm just watching everything he do. So he put
- 13:58Speaker 4: on Experiens socks. I'm putting on expair socks. He put
- 14:01Speaker 4: on long Sleep, I put on long Sleep.
- 14:02Speaker 3: If he got the thicker gloves, I'm warning thicker gloves.
- 14:04Speaker 3: So I just do what he does.
- 14:06Speaker 4: And then I'm listening to everybody what they're doing. And
- 14:09Speaker 4: most of the guys were getting up and getting they
- 14:11Speaker 4: We was drinking straight chicken bro like hot steaming. You
- 14:14Speaker 4: can see the steam. We're trying to warm our souls up,
- 14:17Speaker 4: not our body, but warm our souls up. And I
- 14:20Speaker 4: remember I remember going out there with my shirt off
- 14:23Speaker 4: because I'm like, it's up, man, you know what I mean?
- 14:26Speaker 3: Like let's go.
- 14:27Speaker 4: And then I went right in because I was like,
- 14:30Speaker 4: I'm not built for this. Who am I trying to full?
- 14:32Speaker 4: Let me go, put my clothes on. And then I
- 14:35Speaker 4: got in there, and this was funny. This is when
- 14:37Speaker 4: I realized how different we really are, and like the
- 14:41Speaker 4: backgrounds we came from.
- 14:43Speaker 3: Cause a lot of guys were like, all.
- 14:45Speaker 4: Right, hey, hey, just extra pair of socks, get the
- 14:48Speaker 4: spandex you straight. And then it'd be like another corner
- 14:51Speaker 4: of people will be like, nah, man, I'm telling you,
- 14:53Speaker 4: get the basket lean rub dad all over your body,
- 14:57Speaker 4: and that right there is going to keep in the porsch.
- 15:00Speaker 4: I'm like, okay, I'm listening to him and the other
- 15:02Speaker 4: And this one I knew some folks is this country country.
- 15:05Speaker 3: One dude was like, hey, my.
- 15:07Speaker 4: My, my granddaddy said, if we use this cayenne pepper
- 15:11Speaker 4: that I got this this powder, that we could put
- 15:13Speaker 4: it in our shoes and and and that way, when
- 15:16Speaker 4: we start to sweat, it'll open up the pores and
- 15:19Speaker 4: the heat from the high am outer would heat up
- 15:22Speaker 4: your body. I said, man, this, first of all, that
- 15:26Speaker 4: is a remedy from voodoo lamb.
- 15:29Speaker 3: I'm not noning with that. I don't know if that's
- 15:31Speaker 3: gonna I don't want no part of that.
- 15:33Speaker 4: But everybody had they put the put the nurses gloves
- 15:37Speaker 4: under your real gloves. And I'm just sitting there like,
- 15:40Speaker 4: as a guy who really didn't play in too many
- 15:43Speaker 4: cold games coming up, I'm like, Yo, this is it
- 15:46Speaker 4: can't be.
- 15:46Speaker 3: It can't be that cold. We went out there, I don't.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Know Seattle cold, No, no, no doubt, Hey that wh're
- 15:53Speaker 1: that when to come off the little lake or whatever.
- 15:55Speaker 4: Plus that's the fact it gets chilli, it gets chill,
- 15:59Speaker 4: chilly chicken.
- 16:00Speaker 2: But it don't get frozen.
- 16:01Speaker 3: It don't get frozen.
- 16:02Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying. It don't get frozen. I
- 16:04Speaker 4: remember playing a shoot I was in. I was in
- 16:08Speaker 4: Detroit in Philly. This is when this was when Shady
- 16:14Speaker 4: was there and snow was coming down crazy. It's one
- 16:17Speaker 4: of the craziest snow games in recent history.
- 16:20Speaker 3: And Calvin's doing this thing.
- 16:22Speaker 4: I get a couple of catches, we slide and got
- 16:24Speaker 4: like snow all in our face.
- 16:25Speaker 3: Everybody moving slow. I'm talking about slow motion, bro.
- 16:29Speaker 2: But it's like it's like it's all that good.
- 16:31Speaker 4: What I'm saying it was slow motion just how does
- 16:35Speaker 4: this sloppy ball? But everybody's on the same page. Were
- 16:38Speaker 4: in the halftime, Lashaan mchoy comes out. He I think
- 16:43Speaker 4: he rushed for like a second half record against us.
- 16:46Speaker 4: He was hooking us, bro like, and then I was
- 16:50Speaker 4: so confused because he was cutting. Everybody's still sliding. He's
- 16:53Speaker 4: doing the same moves he doing on turn All right,
- 16:57Speaker 4: he dis in us up. He had to go far
- 17:00Speaker 4: getting crazy, bro, Yeah, he hold the way out here.
- 17:03Speaker 4: God dudes falling and he on his feet, not even sliding.
- 17:06Speaker 3: So they end up winning.
- 17:08Speaker 4: He breaks some type of record on us in the
- 17:10Speaker 4: second half, and years later I ran into him and
- 17:13Speaker 4: we all drinking this all I love about our brotherhood,
- 17:16Speaker 4: like asking him see somebody that either played with or
- 17:19Speaker 4: against and have a drunk conversation about like a football
- 17:22Speaker 4: moment that really is so inside that whoever's listening don't
- 17:25Speaker 4: even understand. So we like out it might've been like
- 17:27Speaker 4: a bar club and I'm like, yo, hey, I.
- 17:29Speaker 3: Gotta ask you, bro. When we played John Philly, He's like, hey,
- 17:33Speaker 3: y'all remember that game.
- 17:34Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm like you when you went in at halftime,
- 17:37Speaker 4: did you change to some illegal claes? He tracked like,
- 17:40Speaker 4: you didn't hear me, Like, huh, I can't the music.
- 17:42Speaker 4: I'm like, now you hear me, bro, talk to me.
- 17:44Speaker 4: Did you change it?
- 17:45Speaker 3: He said, Man, I went in and put some of
- 17:48Speaker 3: them long fights in. You know what I mean. And
- 17:51Speaker 3: that's what I thought when I was watching him, like yo, he.
- 17:54Speaker 4: Had to put in the mountain climber joints stuff, the
- 17:56Speaker 4: air yoda la he who's cause it ain't no ain't
- 18:00Speaker 4: no way he was moving like that in regular cleats.
- 18:02Speaker 3: There's no way.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Oh see, that's what I'm saying.
- 18:05Speaker 1: I was inspired, but I couldn't feel the tips of
- 18:07Speaker 1: my fingers for three days after that game.
- 18:09Speaker 2: And I moved it.
- 18:10Speaker 3: The boy relocated. It was so cold.
- 18:13Speaker 2: I don't I don't.
- 18:14Speaker 1: I don't want to be an America anymore. But Nick, baby,
- 18:17Speaker 1: you and a homeschool, the kids. I don't want to
- 18:19Speaker 1: be here.
- 18:20Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, I'm leaving. Yeah are you coming? Yeah?
- 18:22Speaker 4: And I know we're talking about this off camera, but
- 18:24Speaker 4: I have to say it off camp. I'm in Madrid,
- 18:27Speaker 4: enjoying myself. I got a nice little couples trip, me
- 18:30Speaker 4: and my wife. We in Madrid, gonna bounce to Beza
- 18:33Speaker 4: or Beta and then we're gonna go to Majorca.
- 18:35Speaker 3: So we are.
- 18:36Speaker 4: We are I Madrid vibing. I'm going to the Louis store.
- 18:39Speaker 4: You know, it's my birthday week, going by something nice,
- 18:42Speaker 4: So this is gentleman. He comes up to me and
- 18:44Speaker 4: he's looking at me, sizing me up, and for some
- 18:47Speaker 4: reason he comes to the conclusion that I do something
- 18:50Speaker 4: in and around the NFL. I don't even know if
- 18:51Speaker 4: he thinks I played. And then all of a sudden
- 18:54Speaker 4: he starts telling me. He was like, look, I don't
- 18:56Speaker 4: talk about clients. It's not really your thing, and stopped.
- 18:58Speaker 4: We don't do that around here. I just feel like
- 19:01Speaker 4: you might know somebody I know. And I'm like, He's like,
- 19:06Speaker 4: before you can get out the last thing he said, Cam,
- 19:08Speaker 4: I said, stop right there.
- 19:09Speaker 3: You ain't got to finish the sentence. Listen.
- 19:11Speaker 4: I am an acquaintance of Cam Lead, I don't know him,
- 19:14Speaker 4: so he's not Cam to me. You're you're Cam because
- 19:17Speaker 4: I've known you the long as You're like a brother.
- 19:18Speaker 4: So when I hear Cam, let's think of you. Your
- 19:21Speaker 4: face pops up. Now depending on how I envision you
- 19:25Speaker 4: in the moment, it's a different configuration in hairstyles, but
- 19:27Speaker 4: still your face pops up and I'm like, didn't know
- 19:30Speaker 4: what you Cam Cam Jordan's and he's like and there's
- 19:33Speaker 4: a little bit of a language barrier, so now I'm
- 19:35Speaker 4: still trying to describe.
- 19:36Speaker 3: I'm like, I'm like, yeah, yeah, man football, uh yeah yeah.
- 19:50Speaker 3: He's like, I SEEZ and he showed me. No, I'll
- 19:54Speaker 3: pull up a picture, I think, and then that's what
- 19:56Speaker 3: I call you. You pick up a poe in the
- 19:57Speaker 3: locker room and I'm like, listen, only Cam camn in
- 20:01Speaker 3: San Diego?
- 20:03Speaker 4: Can can be be a guy that is brought up
- 20:06Speaker 4: while I'm on vacation on the other side of the world.
- 20:09Speaker 3: Amazing.
- 20:11Speaker 2: I love to travel.
- 20:12Speaker 1: You know, we lived We lived there for a month,
- 20:15Speaker 1: which may be coinciding with the wife's birthday, her birthday.
- 20:18Speaker 1: You know, we left Madrid and we were to uh
- 20:21Speaker 1: Beaus well you know how to go check it out
- 20:24Speaker 1: for the birth you know, we hit the Nation area,
- 20:27Speaker 1: Seville absolutely okay, you know, hey, we had to.
- 20:31Speaker 2: Go see we had to go see the world.
- 20:33Speaker 3: I had to go warm my soul.
- 20:37Speaker 1: We'll be right back, all right. So what do you
- 20:40Speaker 1: what do you uh you know, what do you think
- 20:43Speaker 1: successful year? You looking at football being a part of
- 20:46Speaker 1: so many different franchises coming in too, you had to
- 20:48Speaker 1: deal with the quarterback situation where you come in and
- 20:50Speaker 1: you don't really know what you got going, but you
- 20:53Speaker 1: have a who lot of hope and potential. What do
- 20:55Speaker 1: you think would be a successful season for the Saints?
- 20:58Speaker 1: You know, I mean, of course I'm gonna say win
- 21:01Speaker 1: a Super Bowl, right, but to be four years out
- 21:03Speaker 1: of playoffs, you have to earn a playoff spot.
- 21:06Speaker 2: So, you know, Spencer Ratler, we saw a little bit
- 21:09Speaker 2: of last year with the unhealthy officer line.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Put on your analyst hat and think about what a
- 21:15Speaker 1: successful season with like first healthy Spencer around their healthy
- 21:18Speaker 1: officer line, shoot.
- 21:20Speaker 2: Chris olave Rashishihi.
- 21:21Speaker 1: And Albu Kamar, Jawan Johnson, you know, Foster Moro, Taysom Hill.
- 21:26Speaker 1: The offense is not short of stars.
- 21:29Speaker 4: But health was also a big reason why Yeah you
- 21:34Speaker 4: did you called it? So I wanted to address that
- 21:36Speaker 4: first because it's not like I'm giving you all a pass,
- 21:39Speaker 4: But I do understand health plays a big role in
- 21:43Speaker 4: the level of consistency because once you start, you know,
- 21:46Speaker 4: moving guys in and out the lineup, then that that
- 21:49Speaker 4: that chemistry that you built up in the off season.
- 21:52Speaker 3: It really just falls apart.
- 21:53Speaker 4: Now you said what you're supposed to say, Yo, I'll
- 21:56Speaker 4: say super Bowl. Now, I'm gonna keep it real, because
- 21:59Speaker 4: you know you would keep it real with me if
- 22:00Speaker 4: I was talking when I was with the Detroit Lions
- 22:03Speaker 4: and I first joined them, not the later Detroit Lions.
- 22:05Speaker 4: But you'd be like, Nay, I know, you say you're
- 22:06Speaker 4: going to win a super Bowl, but like you said,
- 22:09Speaker 4: you have to earn the right to even mention that
- 22:11Speaker 4: because you know what it's like to be on good
- 22:12Speaker 4: teams and great teams.
- 22:14Speaker 3: And right now, the only.
- 22:15Speaker 4: Good thing about the Saints, not the only good thing
- 22:17Speaker 4: I would say, the good thing about the Saints that
- 22:20Speaker 4: people aren't checking for y'all. They're not giving y'all credit,
- 22:23Speaker 4: they're not even mentioning y'all, so understanding, like there's a
- 22:29Speaker 4: huge upside in just catching people off guard, not having
- 22:33Speaker 4: a target at all on our back, and getting a
- 22:36Speaker 4: leg up on maybe even the division so you can
- 22:39Speaker 4: put yourself in a position to make a playoffs. I
- 22:41Speaker 4: think success for the Saints is legitimately winning the division
- 22:47Speaker 4: and then making it, not necessarily making a playoff run,
- 22:51Speaker 4: but just proving that you guys can be big dogs
- 22:53Speaker 4: again within your own division, because before you can be
- 22:55Speaker 4: a threat to the rest of the league and have
- 22:57Speaker 4: playoff hopes, you have to knock on the teams in
- 23:01Speaker 4: your division.
- 23:01Speaker 3: Same thing with the Lions. Think about it.
- 23:03Speaker 4: It seemed like every other year it's the year they're
- 23:06Speaker 4: pretty good, but everybody was like, what are you talking about?
- 23:09Speaker 3: This? This the year y'all can't even.
- 23:10Speaker 4: Handle Green Bay. Y'all can't even handle the Vikings, y'all
- 23:14Speaker 4: still struggling with the Bears. And I think the Lions
- 23:17Speaker 4: realize that, they're like, yeah, you're right, all right, let's
- 23:19Speaker 4: go be Kings of the North, and now here they
- 23:22Speaker 4: are Kings in the North with a huge parkment on
- 23:23Speaker 4: their back.
- 23:24Speaker 3: So I think it's the same thing with the Saints
- 23:26Speaker 3: and Spencer.
- 23:28Speaker 4: The one thing I know about him and I know
- 23:31Speaker 4: he is addressed this time and time again. Get a
- 23:33Speaker 4: lot of hype coming out of high school in the college,
- 23:36Speaker 4: so the magnifying glass was on him from jump. So
- 23:40Speaker 4: it's almost like you can't you can't fail forward when
- 23:43Speaker 4: you're hyped up that much, like you only can fail backwards.
- 23:46Speaker 4: Like people are gonna be like, see, I told you, ah,
- 23:48Speaker 4: he's not as good as we thought. You know what,
- 23:50Speaker 4: let's compare him to everybody else. Now, let's Spencer develop
- 23:53Speaker 4: a lot of young quarterbacks. A lot of our greats
- 23:56Speaker 4: struggled early on in their career, whether it was helped
- 23:58Speaker 4: the team they were on or the off and it's
- 24:00Speaker 4: a game plan. I just feel like with him, because
- 24:03Speaker 4: he is nimble, he can't move in the pocket. If
- 24:05Speaker 4: they can get him comfortable with incorporating his agility in
- 24:08Speaker 4: the pocket, the ability to sustain plays and keep him
- 24:13Speaker 4: going with his legs and then also hit those shots downfield,
- 24:16Speaker 4: that's where the big plays come in. I look at
- 24:18Speaker 4: Patrick Mahomes and I bring him like every time because
- 24:20Speaker 4: he's a prime example. Once he starts extending plays as
- 24:23Speaker 4: a wide receiver, I am thrilled. Listen, it's hard for
- 24:26Speaker 4: you to stop me running one route, let alone me
- 24:30Speaker 4: looking in the backfield and seeing my dude take it off.
- 24:32Speaker 4: Now you got to stop me running two routes. And
- 24:34Speaker 4: if we're all in the same page, the near receiver
- 24:37Speaker 4: comes close to the quarterback, the opposite receiver comes screaming across,
- 24:40Speaker 4: and then if you're deep, you can hit the corner,
- 24:42Speaker 4: like the Chiefs have that figured out, Like the receivers
- 24:46Speaker 4: know exactly where to go in the configuration once they
- 24:48Speaker 4: get in the scramble drill, and then Travis Kelson just
- 24:51Speaker 4: sits in.
- 24:51Speaker 3: The pocket like, hey, baby, you know where I'm at,
- 24:53Speaker 3: Throw it to me.
- 24:54Speaker 4: So I just feel like once Spencer gets on the
- 24:57Speaker 4: same page with wide receivers, titles and running backs, he
- 25:00Speaker 4: escapes the pocket because it's inevitable, it's going to happen
- 25:02Speaker 4: every game.
- 25:03Speaker 3: Once you have a plan for that, then you can
- 25:05Speaker 3: really gash teams with the untimed place.
- 25:09Speaker 5: Mhm, enter the chat tyler Lockey Russell will.
- 25:15Speaker 2: See.
- 25:20Speaker 1: I'm not I'm not I'm not against that one. Look,
- 25:23Speaker 1: I'm just I'm I'm excited for the potential. And like
- 25:26Speaker 1: I've always said, I was like, hey, we got a
- 25:27Speaker 1: lot of potential. It's gonna be up to us to
- 25:29Speaker 1: capture that potential because if we can do that, then.
- 25:32Speaker 5: We can show the world a lot of things.
- 25:34Speaker 2: But if we don't capture that, then we'll just we
- 25:35Speaker 2: talking about. Man, we could have should have.
- 25:37Speaker 3: Wo we couldn't We had a shot man. You know,
- 25:39Speaker 3: the division wasn't as strong as your week could have.
- 25:42Speaker 4: Man, you've been in this long enough where it's like
- 25:44Speaker 4: that could have would have shots for the birds, especially
- 25:47Speaker 4: when you learn the talent.
- 25:48Speaker 3: Now, listen, we've we've we've woken.
- 25:51Speaker 4: Up on the start of training camp or the end
- 25:55Speaker 4: of training camp and week one is here, and we've
- 25:57Speaker 4: been on the team, and.
- 25:58Speaker 2: We're like, you looked around.
- 26:01Speaker 4: As much as I want to say, we're going to
- 26:04Speaker 4: be this, we not that you know what I mean.
- 26:06Speaker 3: I think I had one or two of those out
- 26:08Speaker 3: of my eleven year career.
- 26:09Speaker 4: But when you have a team that's talented and you're
- 26:11Speaker 4: like literally looking at the roster, you're like, bro, we
- 26:14Speaker 4: got some dogs on offense and defense. So yeah, along
- 26:18Speaker 4: with us showing up, staying healthy, and being consistent, if.
- 26:21Speaker 3: The coaches put us in the best position to be successful.
- 26:24Speaker 3: And let's not forget brouh it's also on the coaches. Listen.
- 26:30Speaker 4: Removing myself from the game, what I have learned is
- 26:33Speaker 4: I'm not the one to point the blame on players
- 26:36Speaker 4: or coaches, but I can honestly say when I don't
- 26:39Speaker 4: have a dog in the fight. You can look at
- 26:42Speaker 4: games each week and I can tell by the middle
- 26:45Speaker 4: of the game who's being out coached. So like, listen,
- 26:50Speaker 4: there's a lot of people that take blame, and people
- 26:52Speaker 4: want to blame the players because fantasy football and they
- 26:54Speaker 4: know players' names and they're following us like we're movie stars.
- 26:58Speaker 4: But the reality is it's not just on the players.
- 27:02Speaker 4: It's how you drop the exit and o's in how
- 27:05Speaker 4: you come out of halftime with your adjustments. So yeah, yeah, hopefully,
- 27:10Speaker 4: oh man, it would be good. But also I'm talking
- 27:11Speaker 4: to the same staff too. It's on y'all.
- 27:13Speaker 3: Let's go.
- 27:16Speaker 2: I'll say it is.
- 27:16Speaker 1: It is definitely a thing you know when you when
- 27:20Speaker 1: you go to a halftime and you sometimes don't get
- 27:22Speaker 1: a proper adjustment, like oh, you see the offense adju
- 27:24Speaker 1: just like oh, they was running the inside zones and
- 27:26Speaker 1: now now they're running these little tugs, these little whams.
- 27:29Speaker 1: They got little inside pulling guards just clearing up that spot,
- 27:32Speaker 1: and we.
- 27:32Speaker 4: Did an adjust for that. And you listen, you've been
- 27:35Speaker 4: in the game long enough, you're smart enough to know,
- 27:38Speaker 4: like we should be talking about this, Like it's almost
- 27:41Speaker 4: like you're waiting for it. You you walking a half time,
- 27:43Speaker 4: you take your breath. Coaches got to do their thing
- 27:44Speaker 4: and all that, and you're just like.
- 27:48Speaker 1: They go high like to one play, like, hey, yeah,
- 27:50Speaker 1: they only ran this once, so we're not really gonna
- 27:51Speaker 1: worry about this one.
- 27:52Speaker 2: And they and then their second half.
- 27:54Speaker 1: They come back to this little this little wham block,
- 27:56Speaker 1: little pulling guard that comes up to the second level.
- 27:58Speaker 3: And they start hitting it.
- 28:00Speaker 1: In two plays later, it's the same play, just reverse,
- 28:02Speaker 1: and you're like, god, facts we should have.
- 28:05Speaker 4: But I will say this, and like I said, it's
- 28:07Speaker 4: not to continue to put the pressure on coaches, but
- 28:10Speaker 4: they also got a million dollar roster to these coaching staff.
- 28:13Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying, Like, I really want to
- 28:14Speaker 4: talk about how much these players, and this is across
- 28:16Speaker 4: the board. I'm not even talking about the Saints in general.
- 28:18Speaker 4: These coaches are making out like fat rats and rightfully,
- 28:21Speaker 4: so I want everybody to get money. I want players, coaches,
- 28:24Speaker 4: I want to I want everybody to get money from
- 28:26Speaker 4: the NFL. It's a multi billion dollar machine. Squeeze every
- 28:29Speaker 4: last red set as you can out of it. With
- 28:31Speaker 4: that said, and these coaches are getting paid, so they
- 28:34Speaker 4: also got to step their game up across the board.
- 28:37Speaker 1: I I'll say, look, it's arts for position coaches.
- 28:40Speaker 2: Then that's your base foundation.
- 28:41Speaker 3: In fact, you can you can.
- 28:43Speaker 1: You can have a phenomenal head coach and have a
- 28:46Speaker 1: terrible position coach that has put these together. And you're like, man,
- 28:50Speaker 1: why did he have success when he was here? But
- 28:52Speaker 1: he has success over there the cabinet? Who do you
- 28:54Speaker 1: have around facts? Since we've been kids, we've always been told, hey,
- 28:58Speaker 1: you show me your friends, I'll tell you what you
- 29:01Speaker 1: could be.
- 29:01Speaker 3: You are the company you.
- 29:04Speaker 2: Show you.
- 29:05Speaker 1: The head coach showed me your coaching staff, and I
- 29:07Speaker 1: can tell you where you should have gone gone one
- 29:09Speaker 1: hundred percent. Anyway, I appreciate you turned on your anda
- 29:16Speaker 1: list hat to be going to you to being an adalyst, Like,
- 29:18Speaker 1: how how long did it take you to get comfortable
- 29:21Speaker 1: in that space? Confident in how you handle CBS morning,
- 29:24Speaker 1: how you handle the game days? You know you I
- 29:27Speaker 1: don't know what you haven't touched.
- 29:28Speaker 3: It was.
- 29:29Speaker 4: It was a little bit easier catching my rhythm working
- 29:33Speaker 4: for the NFL network when I first retired, For.
- 29:36Speaker 3: A couple of reasons.
- 29:37Speaker 4: One, I quickly realized who I wasn't like at that time.
- 29:40Speaker 4: We had Dion Sanders there, Michael Irvin, Marshall, Fall, Kurt Warner,
- 29:44Speaker 4: we had a whole host of individuals and great hosts
- 29:48Speaker 4: in general. And I remember trying to be like like
- 29:52Speaker 4: a herb probably wasn't got got.
- 29:57Speaker 3: You know I'm doing. I'm like, it's not me.
- 30:00Speaker 4: Next week I come in, I'm trying to be like Prime,
- 30:02Speaker 4: I got some fresh suit on.
- 30:04Speaker 3: I'm talking slick rhyming my words, you.
- 30:05Speaker 4: Know what I mean. I'm like, Damn, that's not really
- 30:08Speaker 4: me either. And then I'm like, all right, let me
- 30:10Speaker 4: see marshall fault. Let me let me try to atipicate
- 30:13Speaker 4: my point and articulate and talk about the cross section
- 30:15Speaker 4: between the inter collaborations of the No, that's not me either.
- 30:20Speaker 4: I'm like, I am this like kid that was born
- 30:23Speaker 4: in eighty one, you know, a little self deprecating, but
- 30:26Speaker 4: also feel like I got all the swagger in the world.
- 30:28Speaker 4: I'm very confident, but at the same time a little goofy.
- 30:30Speaker 4: I grew up on movies, music, pop culture, animation. I mean,
- 30:35Speaker 4: look at the shirt I'm wearing. Come on, I'm like,
- 30:38Speaker 4: I'm that guy, So like, be that guy. When it's
- 30:41Speaker 4: time for you to be serious, lock in when it's
- 30:42Speaker 4: time for you to take the stage, Sean, when it's
- 30:44Speaker 4: time for you to control the room.
- 30:46Speaker 3: You control.
- 30:46Speaker 4: When it's time for you to tell a story, be
- 30:47Speaker 4: the best at it. When it's time for you to
- 30:49Speaker 4: be funny or self deprecating, be all those things. You
- 30:51Speaker 4: don't have to be one thing that you see on
- 30:53Speaker 4: TV and guys that you look up to be one
- 30:55Speaker 4: of those things. I mean, be all those things that
- 30:57Speaker 4: you are. So I once I realize that's why I
- 31:00Speaker 4: was it, that's when it started to take shape and
- 31:02Speaker 4: I felt really comfortable just talking about the game. And
- 31:04Speaker 4: I feel like I can do that with the best
- 31:06Speaker 4: of them. Whether people want to be entertained or educated,
- 31:08Speaker 4: I can do both, or I can do a blend. Now,
- 31:10Speaker 4: when it comes to CBS mornings like that was a
- 31:13Speaker 4: little bit more difficult, even though I felt like I
- 31:15Speaker 4: was prepared and I positioned myself to have everybody in
- 31:20Speaker 4: this CBS ecosystem recognize that I'm more than just the player.
- 31:25Speaker 4: He can talk about the financial market, he can talk
- 31:28Speaker 4: about silal issues, he can talk politics. He can sit
- 31:31Speaker 4: down with your favorite athlete or your favorite president. He
- 31:33Speaker 4: can do everything. Even though I feel confident in all
- 31:36Speaker 4: of those aspects of who I am as a media talent,
- 31:39Speaker 4: it took a while for me to like to be
- 31:42Speaker 4: comfortable in that seat, and that's like what I'm wearing,
- 31:47Speaker 4: how I talk out with my hair, all the little accessories.
- 31:52Speaker 4: When I first got on CBS Mornings, I was very
- 31:54Speaker 4: muted in so many ways, not just physical, I just
- 31:57Speaker 4: think notably. I just was like and I remember a
- 32:00Speaker 4: producer was like, look, we need you to talk more,
- 32:04Speaker 4: and I'm like, yeah, but you know, Gil, you know
- 32:06Speaker 4: Tony Like, look, I didn't get it. You're trying to
- 32:08Speaker 4: be p light and you don't want to jump in
- 32:10Speaker 4: sometimes you feel like it's a traffic jam. We hired
- 32:12Speaker 4: you to talk. Your perspective on things is unique. People
- 32:15Speaker 4: identify with how you talk about things. We need you
- 32:18Speaker 4: to speak more on the show. And I'm like, all right, cool.
- 32:20Speaker 4: That was one like light bulb that went off. And
- 32:22Speaker 4: then I remember like wearing all these like dark patterns
- 32:26Speaker 4: because I didn't want to like shake things up too much,
- 32:28Speaker 4: and I was going I was trying to.
- 32:32Speaker 3: Wear arounds and blacks and navies.
- 32:34Speaker 4: And then one day I was like, I just had
- 32:35Speaker 4: a suit from my Sunday show that I brought in
- 32:38Speaker 4: studio because I was gonna wear for something.
- 32:40Speaker 3: I was like, yo, let me just wear this on
- 32:42Speaker 3: the set.
- 32:43Speaker 4: And I wore and I walked in and like no joke, Gil,
- 32:47Speaker 4: and everybody was like about time.
- 32:49Speaker 3: We didn't wait know you to.
- 32:51Speaker 2: Like where's this Ben?
- 32:52Speaker 4: I'm like, y'all, y'all was waiting on me. They're like, yeah,
- 32:56Speaker 4: we see you on Sundays, we see you on red carpas,
- 32:59Speaker 4: we see you.
- 33:00Speaker 3: Why you want to come here and give us the suits?
- 33:04Speaker 4: And I'm like all right, all right, bet So then
- 33:06Speaker 4: from there those two things. Man, that next week I
- 33:10Speaker 4: walked in and it was like I was, I was
- 33:12Speaker 4: my most comfortable version of myself. But yeah, news is
- 33:16Speaker 4: different because you have to be so prepared, Like I
- 33:19Speaker 4: have to be over prepared every day just to only
- 33:22Speaker 4: maybe get thirty seconds to talk time. And most of
- 33:26Speaker 4: the time I don't even have time to talk about
- 33:28Speaker 4: something I studied all night for. But I'd rather over
- 33:32Speaker 4: prepare and not have time to talk than not prepare
- 33:37Speaker 4: and go blank for thirty seconds.
- 33:39Speaker 3: Like that's my worst fear is like them coming and
- 33:41Speaker 3: be like Nate, what you.
- 33:42Speaker 4: Think about the terriffs? What do you think about the
- 33:44Speaker 4: Trump administration? What do you think about you know, the
- 33:46Speaker 4: Barack administration? What do you think about what's going on
- 33:49Speaker 4: with the societal issues and the fractions in this Like
- 33:52Speaker 4: I'd rather I'd rather have something to say and not
- 33:55Speaker 4: say it or not use it then like just be
- 33:58Speaker 4: stuck here in the headlights.
- 34:01Speaker 2: Be stuck. And you know what, I think a lot
- 34:03Speaker 2: of things, many many different things.
- 34:05Speaker 3: At the end of the day. If you ever hear
- 34:08Speaker 3: me start at the end of the.
- 34:09Speaker 2: Day, you know, like they got you, they got them.
- 34:18Speaker 3: Too.
- 34:18Speaker 1: Sha to Sam, I'm as suing in for that when
- 34:22Speaker 1: I'm like he was ready, but he might he took
- 34:25Speaker 1: my surprise.
- 34:26Speaker 2: I say, we are. We are working together. Uh this
- 34:31Speaker 2: year Nickelodeon's Lime Time.
- 34:34Speaker 1: Well, hey, when I tell you, I'm bringing the most,
- 34:38Speaker 1: the most you know, rambunctious kids. Some of these kids
- 34:41Speaker 1: was wild. Hey, some of these kids was wild and
- 34:46Speaker 1: we got we got a lot out of them. Just
- 34:47Speaker 1: know we work and I'm gonna bring the best out
- 34:50Speaker 1: of these kids. Some of these kids, they would look
- 34:51Speaker 1: at me just like you said, like deers in the
- 34:53Speaker 1: head like they're like I had draw energy, don't worry
- 34:56Speaker 1: about it. I brought up juice for everybody like I
- 35:00Speaker 1: brought I brought the corniest version of me. I could,
- 35:02Speaker 1: and I said, you know what, Oh you wanna slime?
- 35:04Speaker 1: How much slime do you need?
- 35:06Speaker 3: That's what I'm talking about, you know what I mean?
- 35:10Speaker 4: I bring Every Tuesday, I go up there and we
- 35:13Speaker 4: shoot a slantan and bro Like, I go from like
- 35:16Speaker 4: any topics and news, take my suit off, put on
- 35:20Speaker 4: something fool and casual, and when I walk in that studio,
- 35:23Speaker 4: I literally like open the door to like twelve year
- 35:26Speaker 4: old Nate Birlson, like yo, little Nate, go ahead, you
- 35:28Speaker 4: got it. And then like the grown man, the adult
- 35:31Speaker 4: me will take a break and I'm just sitting there
- 35:33Speaker 4: just living up this childhood dream of being on Nickelodeon.
- 35:37Speaker 4: Like that's how I approach it every day. So you
- 35:38Speaker 4: bring in the right type of energy.
- 35:39Speaker 5: Bro.
- 35:40Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I look look Nickelodeon.
- 35:43Speaker 1: I said, all right, what would I look like as
- 35:45Speaker 1: a kid listen to anilest fact the biggest Hey, this
- 35:51Speaker 1: is your biggest home, I said, what I brought up?
- 35:53Speaker 1: I brought out the cheesiest version of me. I'm so excited, everybody.
- 35:58Speaker 3: I can't wait. You're going to ask so much to
- 35:59Speaker 3: the show man. It's gonna be dope.
- 36:01Speaker 2: Ah, super excited about that. When I mean, come on,
- 36:04Speaker 2: it's sliding an time.
- 36:05Speaker 1: Come on, bro, Like eventually I know it's gonna be
- 36:08Speaker 1: my term to get slimed, but like right now, I'm
- 36:10Speaker 1: enjoying sliming.
- 36:11Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, listen. First of all, I'm gonna make sure
- 36:13Speaker 3: that happens because you need to be slnes. So I'll
- 36:15Speaker 3: let you know. I'll get you heads up so you
- 36:16Speaker 3: can have your hair out, you know what I mean.
- 36:18Speaker 3: But but I'll tell you what.
- 36:19Speaker 4: Though, Like having people recognize me for football was something
- 36:23Speaker 4: that like really spoke to like my ego when I played,
- 36:26Speaker 4: I loved it, you know, I mean I was a receiver,
- 36:28Speaker 4: like I love people being like yo, you man chelling
- 36:32Speaker 4: back when he was playing.
- 36:33Speaker 3: With the Vikings.
- 36:34Speaker 4: Like just the other day I was I was at
- 36:36Speaker 4: the US Open and somebody walked past me like, hey,
- 36:37Speaker 4: just gonna let you know you helped me with my
- 36:39Speaker 4: Fantasy League year two. You put up a thousand yards
- 36:41Speaker 4: against Randy Like.
- 36:42Speaker 3: That used to make me feel real good.
- 36:43Speaker 4: It's still to us, like I show people love to
- 36:45Speaker 4: take pictures and all that, but like now there's this
- 36:48Speaker 4: like there's demographic of people that see me there, like yo,
- 36:52Speaker 4: of what you're doing on CBS Mornings, and I think
- 36:55Speaker 4: that's dope. It's usually grown people and there's also like
- 36:57Speaker 4: some cougars, you know, I got like I got a demographic,
- 37:00Speaker 4: like the cougars love me, you know what I.
- 37:01Speaker 3: Mean, like like fifty five to like seventy five.
- 37:05Speaker 1: You just you look so young, like you're still play
- 37:08Speaker 1: it looks oh you're even more handsome in public.
- 37:11Speaker 4: Oh, they'd give me the extra extended hug and then
- 37:14Speaker 4: they pull out the words and give it to me
- 37:16Speaker 4: on the way out, like the Cougars love me, so
- 37:18Speaker 4: look but look but now, like that's that warms my
- 37:20Speaker 4: heart because that means that successful, we made a transition
- 37:23Speaker 4: and people can identify me as something other than an athlete.
- 37:26Speaker 4: But another element with what you're talking about as far
- 37:28Speaker 4: as Nickelodeon, which is super dope and I never anticipated,
- 37:32Speaker 4: is when like nine year old Boyle comeing to me
- 37:35Speaker 4: and he's just staring at me, and then his father's like, oh, sorry, man,
- 37:38Speaker 4: he shook right now, like he watches some time every
- 37:40Speaker 4: week and he's been staring at you since you walked in.
- 37:43Speaker 4: And then I'm like and like kids, and it it
- 37:47Speaker 4: made me think, like what would I have done if
- 37:49Speaker 4: I saw like Mark Summers from Double Deer or something
- 37:51Speaker 4: in public, like I probably would have flipped out of.
- 37:53Speaker 3: Him, like yo, that's the dude that does doubled there
- 37:56Speaker 3: like so.
- 37:57Speaker 4: Yeah, so like I feel like, man, this is we
- 38:00Speaker 4: have an opportunity to like create this bridge between the
- 38:04Speaker 4: young generation and football fans and and Nickelodeon has created
- 38:08Speaker 4: the perfect vehicle for that.
- 38:10Speaker 2: Absolutely. Absolutely, I'm excited because this might be it might be.
- 38:14Speaker 1: You know, my my youngest daughter, she was like, she's like, Dad,
- 38:18Speaker 1: I gotta I'm gonna slim you one day.
- 38:20Speaker 2: I say, you have a goal, baby, if if I'm
- 38:22Speaker 2: your goal, we'll make sure you get it.
- 38:24Speaker 1: We'll make sure you get my little four year old
- 38:26Speaker 1: like that's mine. If that's what your goal is is
- 38:28Speaker 1: slime daddy.
- 38:29Speaker 2: I'll make sure what happened.
- 38:30Speaker 3: Yeah exactly.
- 38:33Speaker 2: Oh man, Like I.
- 38:34Speaker 1: Said, I appreciate you, I got one. I got one
- 38:37Speaker 1: last segment for you. I'm gonna ask you three questions.
- 38:41Speaker 1: You tell me whether onside or off side. On side
- 38:44Speaker 1: means you're four, it's true. Offside means you're against it,
- 38:47Speaker 1: like it's false. You know, the Chiefs will make it
- 38:50Speaker 1: to the Super Bowl Game because Travis Kelsey and Taylors
- 38:52Speaker 1: Swift got engaged.
- 38:54Speaker 2: M m M.
- 38:57Speaker 4: I'm gonna say I want to say off side, just
- 39:01Speaker 4: because listen, this was a few years ago.
- 39:04Speaker 3: Yeah, but the AFC is a little man. I mean,
- 39:08Speaker 3: you got the Ravens, you got the Bills, you got
- 39:11Speaker 3: the bangles.
- 39:12Speaker 4: I got just feel like there's too many squads. Even
- 39:14Speaker 4: with this very fairy tale storyline, there's other squads. It's like,
- 39:18Speaker 4: we don't give a bleep about your engagement. I'm trying
- 39:20Speaker 4: you see, got a ring. I'm trying to give my ring.
- 39:23Speaker 3: So I feel like that's off side.
- 39:26Speaker 2: Hmm. There's real lions blood in your line's blood orange box.
- 39:31Speaker 4: Ash, Yeah, you know what, it's actually from the creators,
- 39:34Speaker 4: a sex panther. They say six percent of the time
- 39:36Speaker 4: it works every time. That's off sides. I wish though
- 39:42Speaker 4: that would be kind of wild. But you know what,
- 39:44Speaker 4: maybe I should create a cologne with a.
- 39:46Speaker 3: Little bit of lion blood in it. You know, the
- 39:47Speaker 3: fats might have him out there roaring, you know what
- 39:50Speaker 3: I mean?
- 39:51Speaker 2: Sathetic lines because.
- 39:57Speaker 1: Indeed, after this NFL S this ends, you'll bring back
- 40:01Speaker 1: your season recap rap song.
- 40:03Speaker 2: Then it twice.
- 40:05Speaker 3: Let's do it one side. You know what, I'm gonna
- 40:08Speaker 3: bring it back.
- 40:09Speaker 2: I have to.
- 40:09Speaker 4: I've been thinking about it, you know what I mean.
- 40:11Speaker 4: I'm getting that itch and the storylines are better than ever.
- 40:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm bringing it back. Man. The NFL Wrap Recap
- 40:17Speaker 3: is back.
- 40:20Speaker 2: I appreciate you. Appreciate you, Nate.
- 40:22Speaker 1: Thanks for the listening, for tuning in. Thanks to the
- 40:24Speaker 1: listeners and the viewers. I appreciate everybody. You can find
- 40:27Speaker 1: the podcast and iHeart app or wherever you get your
- 40:29Speaker 1: podcasts and watch it all NFL YouTube channel. Just remember
- 40:32Speaker 1: Nate Brolson, all world analysts, all world commentary, all American
- 40:37Speaker 1: in college, you of then Man Man was a monster,
- 40:41Speaker 1: a mon star.
- 40:41Speaker 5: From Minnesota for Seattle, Detroit, you know, just a legend.
- 40:46Speaker 3: Appreciate thank you, Man.
- 40:48Speaker 2: Indeed,
