- 0:06Hello. What's your least favorite scary
- 0:08movie? I.
- 0:10Know about your boyfriend, the movie, The podcast where we talk
- 0:16about the goods, about the ugly and the absurd, and all of our
- 0:19favorite. Family's favorite?
- 0:21Scary movies. Because we believe every horror
- 0:23movie rightfully has its fan base.
- 0:24Even if we don't always get it. My name is Travis, my name is
- 0:27Jesse, and welcome back to our monthly bonus series.
- 0:29It's another blah blah blah. See another live and kind of
- 0:33mostly undrawn episode of 2B or not 2B.
- 0:37That's right, flub UPS stay this time around we're not cleaning
- 0:41any of this shit up. It's a live.
- 0:43It's fuck it, we're doing it live.
- 0:46This is where we like to go to the free streaming services and
- 0:50find perhaps a lower budgeted movie that we may not have
- 0:54otherwise seen. So that is what we're talking
- 0:56about this week. And last year we had so much fun
- 0:59with Bloody Bloody Bible Camp on Easter that we decided we were
- 1:01going to do another Easter Sunday.
- 1:05Perhaps slightly sacrilegious reading of a horror movie.
- 1:08Yeah, like, OK, it's my turn to pick this month and I picked a
- 1:13movie and what I I tried to find something that fit within the
- 1:19theme of Easter and I didn't want to.
- 1:22There were some obvious Easter themed ones out there but they
- 1:26just. I weren't, I wasn't filling
- 1:28them, but I did find something that fits.
- 1:30You went with the more biblical reading of Easter.
- 1:33Yeah, we're we're dabbling with some resurrection in this
- 1:36month's episode. People die, they come.
- 1:39Back, they come back, they're they're mad about it too, you
- 1:43know, they're, they're not exactly happy about how
- 1:45everything went down and they're going to get the revenge.
- 1:47I don't think Zombie Jesus was all about avenge.
- 1:50He's pretty pissed, yeah, because like, what the fuck's
- 1:54she out? There, Yeah, no, dude, read the
- 1:55Old Testament. That's not like he's not a.
- 1:57Chill. You're right.
- 1:58Jesus. He turned the other cheek.
- 1:59Yeah, old lady doesn't turn the other cheek.
- 2:01No, this is. Abigail's Old Testament.
- 2:05This is why she's not a prophet. This is why because she she, she
- 2:10failed the test here. She's.
- 2:13Judas. All right, we're going to make
- 2:16sense of this here in a little bit.
- 2:17We're talking about dead dudes in the house.
- 2:20Dead dudes in the house, otherwise known as the House on
- 2:23Tombstone Hill. House on Tombstone Hill.
- 2:26Also known as the Dead come home.
- 2:28The dead come home. But if you are wanting to watch
- 2:31this along with us and you want to watch it on Toby, you got to
- 2:34search dead dudes in the house. That's the Toby name.
- 2:37You can find it on IMDb also, but I'm pretty sure he goes by
- 2:40The House on Tombstone Hill on IMDb.
- 2:42Yeah, it's confusing. I knew about this movie whenever
- 2:46I was trying to find it on Toby and I tried searching the house
- 2:49on Tombstone Hill and nothing came up.
- 2:51It's like what the fuck? And then that dude's in the
- 2:53house. What the results I was looking
- 2:56for? OK, all right, well I guess we
- 2:59don't have any normal shit that we get into since this is a 2
- 3:02week. It's a bonus episode, that is
- 3:04correct. Yes.
- 3:04So I guess we are just gonna go ahead and get into this movie
- 3:07that sounds. Good, I lost the spike.
- 3:10OK, well, do you want me to pause?
- 3:13No, OK, nothing to be done about it now.
- 3:15All right, well, let's continue then.
- 3:17All right, so Dead Dudes in the House released October 1989.
- 3:22Don't have a specific date for this.
- 3:24We watched it on tube, of course.
- 3:26It was written by James Riffle and directed by James Riffle.
- 3:30Music by William B Riffle, special effects makeup Ed
- 3:34French, who we have discussed on this show before.
- 3:39Do you want to take a guess? I can't remember.
- 3:41I recognize the name, but I cannot remember what he was
- 3:43with. This is the man that did the
- 3:45effects for Blood Rage. He also did effects I found out
- 3:50for his Dragon Ball movie, The live action 10 no and Terminator
- 3:552. What a weird career.
- 3:58He's got he's he's an established effects artist.
- 4:01He's successful in his career. Also, Bruce Spalding Fuller did
- 4:06effects as well. He is responsible for films such
- 4:09as Dead Don't Die, Nice, he's done several Marvel movies and
- 4:14he also is He was an artist on Misery, Greg and Nix I guess cuz
- 4:19Gregory. Yeah, Gregory.
- 4:20Yeah, Gregory Nix did the the famous hobbling scene.
- 4:24Yeah, so he was a part of that team.
- 4:26OK. All right.
- 4:27Starring Mark Zobianez, Ron, Victor Verdi as Bob, by the way,
- 4:34Victor, we've seen him before. He is party dad and no hard
- 4:38feelings. The guy that breaks up the
- 4:42party. I thought he looked.
- 4:44Familiarly. Yeah, I would not have guessed
- 4:47that. But he's one of the more
- 4:49successful actors from this group here.
- 4:51He's also been in several Grand Theft Auto games.
- 4:54And he was a recurring character in Law and Order, I believe.
- 4:58OK. Yeah.
- 4:59So he's actually OK. Sarah Newhouse, fitting name as
- 5:03Jamie, JD Cerna as Stevie or No No Steve, Naomi Cooker as Linda,
- 5:09Eugene Saunter as Joey, Douglas Gibson as Mark and old lady
- 5:15James Griffith as Ricky and Rob Moretti, the man that we get no
- 5:20name for throughout. Oh the teen, I just wrote him as
- 5:23teen the whole time. I wrote him as a dude because
- 5:25we're watching dead dudes in the house.
- 5:27His name is S. I don't even think that they
- 5:29actually gave him a name. I think that they just put a
- 5:31letter. Just like I think IMDb has a
- 5:34character limit of one, sort of like a KS maybe I guess.
- 5:38OK, time for a favorite game on the show.
- 5:41Budget or budget? Sorry, bug head.
- 5:49Yeah, you gotta get it over that, man.
- 5:50We're doing a show here and this is a live one too, and we can't
- 5:53make any edits. I'm really distracted by it.
- 5:55Yeah. All right.
- 5:56We'll we'll address it after the fact.
- 5:58There's nothing to address. It's just it's gone.
- 6:00OK, So what do you say? Bug head.
- 6:03OK, yeah, I mean, probably I don't have figures for this
- 6:05movie, but it's a very cheap ish cooking movie.
- 6:10It's a trauma film, but it's not from a produced film.
- 6:13They just bought it for distribution.
- 6:15OK, whenever I looked it up it's listed as an indie film, so this
- 6:18may have been just a bunch of them doing this themselves,
- 6:21which is kind of cool to think about.
- 6:23Has an IMDb of 5.1. Wow.
- 6:27Not terrible. OK, Yeah, people like it.
- 6:30Spoiler that's that's higher than the next episode, so maybe
- 6:35we're gonna be recording. No, don't hurt my films right
- 6:38now. Hold on.
- 6:40Often hurting my feelings so we record.
- 6:42On that one. OK so I have 3 movies from 1989.
- 6:47The theme is Parts of a House. OK, I'm really excited for this.
- 6:53Yeah, I mean, the whole point of this movie is a group of college
- 6:57kids maybe question. Mark, I think they're older than
- 7:00college, the. Synopsis.
- 7:02Was able to get. The synopsis caused from college
- 7:04and we bought alcohol in college.
- 7:06It's not like it wasn't the thing that we we weren't able to
- 7:09do. Cool.
- 7:09I wasn't gonna talk about the buying alcohol.
- 7:12I was gonna talk about buying a house.
- 7:14Oh. Different time man, different
- 7:17generation. They could afford houses back
- 7:18then. Oh my God.
- 7:20Yeah, it's a nice house too, OK. Your reaction, you know you
- 7:23could buy alcohol in college is a normal thing.
- 7:25I thought you were just. I really thought you were gonna
- 7:27sing about Joey going to go get some beer.
- 7:29I was like, dude, that's OK. Don't shame him.
- 7:32No, I think if you have a mortgage you should be allowed
- 7:34to buy alcohol. Kind of need it.
- 7:36Yeah, I I agree with that. OK, so movie #1 Beyond the Door
- 7:423 Because doors. Doors are essential to house.
- 7:47Door our house. Door need for house.
- 7:50House need door. House need door.
- 7:51House need work and one of my favorite recurring gags in this
- 7:55is Door don't work. Door, door, don't door.
- 7:58Door don't Door. This movie also released
- 8:01sometime in October 1989. Don't have a specific date.
- 8:05Don't have any of the financials either, but it's a 5 point 2 so
- 8:09.1 above. Oh wow, dead dudes.
- 8:12In that house means that those doors work.
- 8:14Those, yeah, at least three of them do.
- 8:18All right. Movie #2 The seller OK Seller
- 8:21also plays part in this house. It does.
- 8:24That's where S in. Ricky and S get in.
- 8:26Yeah, yeah. That came out July 9th 1989.
- 8:30Don't have budget or gross but IMDb 4.6 no OK.
- 8:36Not so good. Well, not.
- 8:37Not every house has door has solar.
- 8:40Not every house too. Ours, we don't have solar.
- 8:43No, but you know what? All house have this movie #3
- 8:48things. All house have things.
- 8:53Did you come up with the theme when you just had the 1st 2
- 8:56movies and then you had to find a third one that kind of worked?
- 8:59I had two potential themes in the making here.
- 9:02I had resurrected people, which that one would have featured
- 9:06Friday the 13th. Jason takes Manhattan because
- 9:09he's zombie Jason then. And then there was another.
- 9:12Oh yeah, Pet Sematary also came out this year.
- 9:14So that would have been a good one.
- 9:16But I wasn't confident on all the other ones.
- 9:19And then I found house parts. I was like, you know what?
- 9:21I like this better. And things you can't deny
- 9:25things. Things are like are in every
- 9:27house. I don't know if I can deny
- 9:29things because I am in fact caught in a salesman.
- 9:35We we have a certificate above our heads from where we have
- 9:38watched things and Sledgehammer. Yeah, you know, Iron Mutant.
- 9:41And ironically, love things. Jesse loves things so much that
- 9:45she recommended it to a Co worker and it didn't go so well.
- 9:50Well no, the main problem was that the Co worker watched it
- 9:54with a younger sibling and I didn't warn them about the
- 9:57immediate full frontal nudity. I mean, it's a horror movie.
- 10:01It's kind of common in those. Yeah, well, it's also there's so
- 10:04much other things to take in with things.
- 10:07Yeah, that's true. OK, so things probably sometime
- 10:11in September 1989 don't have an actual day.
- 10:14I like how it almost became a theme of those I was one movie
- 10:18shy at. Some point, yeah.
- 10:21I'm not buying this for one God damn.
- 10:23Second, it says the budget was $30,000.
- 10:26Ain't no fucking way they spent $30,000 on that movie.
- 10:29There's no way that movie was anywhere close to like even a
- 10:34poverty line salary. That movie was funded with
- 10:37pocket change and lint. That's exactly what it was.
- 10:39And batteries for the camcorder. Yeah, I was going to say, I
- 10:42think the things themselves are actually literally made of
- 10:44pocket lint, so. Yeah, it's like dust bunnies.
- 10:46Yeah, All right. I don't have the gross for it,
- 10:51but I do have the IMDb, which is 2.9.
- 10:55Yeah, honestly surprised it's that.
- 10:59I thought it would be one of those movies that's in the ones,
- 11:01but I guess it has its audience. Hello We are.
- 11:04Audience. Hi.
- 11:05Hey, We're the audience. It's us.
- 11:08OK, I have two tag lines. OK, tag line number one, where
- 11:12trespassing is a matter of life or death.
- 11:16They're not trespassing though. No, I think the old one is
- 11:21trespassing though. Well, it was her house.
- 11:23Yeah, but there's so many more. It's like I can go into the
- 11:26apartments that we once lived in and be like, I lived here.
- 11:28So like, this isn't technically trespassing?
- 11:30But she's a ghost. You can't tell the ghosts
- 11:32they're trespassing in their final resting place.
- 11:34I think you can. You know what I think the people
- 11:36who were riding King of the Hill with misses.
- 11:40What's her face? The Wakefield.
- 11:43Misses Wakefield. Yeah.
- 11:45I think that they've watched this movie.
- 11:46Like, let's turn this into a King of the Hill episode.
- 11:49Yeah, Yeah. I mean, I don't know.
- 11:52I mean, she's not welcome. That doesn't mean that she's
- 11:56trespassing. This movie is technically
- 11:59labeled as a home invasion. Who's doing the invading here?
- 12:02The teens. Are they?
- 12:03They bought the house. It's theirs.
- 12:06No, the teens. No, they.
- 12:08Yeah, they do home invade. OK, why?
- 12:10Why are these homeowners getting younger and younger than where
- 12:14we talk in your head? I don't know.
- 12:17Well, they, you can be a college kid and a teenager.
- 12:21Bless you. Yeah, Bless you.
- 12:26I stopped and, like, I looked over at Jesse, and I was
- 12:29wondering why she wasn't saying anything.
- 12:31And she was making a face that was definitely going to be a
- 12:35sneeze. OK yeah, so anyways, the the
- 12:39next tagline, A hammering, head banging movie that will nail you
- 12:44to your seat, literally. Man, that makes this many sounds
- 12:48like it's gonna be so much more rock'n'roll than it is.
- 12:51Yeah, this is a scene that takes place though.
- 12:54Yeah, I know. Yeah, I'm just saying like the
- 12:57tagline, if I heard that, I'd be like.
- 12:59Yeah, OK. And that's it for the taglines.
- 13:02So no, this is the part where I explain why I chose this movie.
- 13:08So I usually on this show we do some of the more be horror risk
- 13:15type stuff. So I took to the Internet and
- 13:18looked up be horror movies that are on TV on Reddit just to see
- 13:23what people were recommending. And I had already done extensive
- 13:27searches for like religious horror and like the Bunny shit.
- 13:33Yeah, I just wasn't feeling any of it.
- 13:35So I was like, fuck it, I'll find something.
- 13:38And then I came across this movie that somebody recommended
- 13:41and I noticed I had Resurrection as a plot.
- 13:44So I was kind of like, OK, there's there's a connection
- 13:47that Easter right there. And I watched the trailer and
- 13:50the trailer looked pretty awesome.
- 13:51So yeah, that's why I chose this movie.
- 13:54Yeah, she she was killed, she was buried and she came back.
- 13:58See the The thing is vinegar syndrome, for any of you out
- 14:03there that are aware of them, are so fucking good at taking
- 14:07shit and packaging it and making you want like bad stuff, bad
- 14:11movies. And that's what they did with
- 14:14this. They I watched, they did a
- 14:16release of this and they put out their own trailer of it.
- 14:18And that trailer is really fucking good.
- 14:20And then I went and watched the other original trailer and it's
- 14:24not anywhere as good at selling the movie, but yeah, it it
- 14:30looked like it'd be fun time. So here we are all.
- 14:33Right here we are. All right, so let's get into the
- 14:35good, bad, ugly and absurd. And Jesse, what did you think of
- 14:38it? I really like this concept and I
- 14:41like that we have everybody getting killed off 1 by 1 and
- 14:45then coming back in. Their personalities are like
- 14:48slightly slightly tweaked, but they're all still different
- 14:50people like. They're they're themselves, but
- 14:53they're like exaggerated antagonists.
- 14:56Yeah, yeah, it it has kind of like a feel of like Night of the
- 15:03Demons for me. That's funny, I watched that
- 15:06yesterday too. So I think I think that's really
- 15:10fun. I think the old lady like her
- 15:13just first of all, I'm kind of surprised that it was Mark's
- 15:17actor for both, because if you told me that was Spike Jones and
- 15:20his Gloria get up, dude, when you when you.
- 15:23Open with that line, I was like, that sounded like Spike Jones
- 15:26my. Name's Gloria Ashley.
- 15:30Yeah, I could tell. It was definitely like a a guy
- 15:35in old. WAVY makeup.
- 15:37Yeah, but. But I I thought she was really
- 15:39funny the way she was just like when, oh, who was it?
- 15:42Joey when he's like hanging from the window and he's like, help
- 15:45me have a no, she says it. I I thought that was really
- 15:54like, I had some really good comedic moments like that.
- 15:57I like that Bob ended up being like not the final boss but like
- 16:03the one you have to beat to get to the final boss because he was
- 16:06kind of an asshole in life also. Bob.
- 16:08Bob was one of those guys that I was like, oh man, I'm going to
- 16:12be like, he's going to be an asshole and I'm going to find
- 16:15him grating eventually. But no the longer the movie when
- 16:17I was like, no, fuck yeah, listen to Bob.
- 16:19Bob is the shit. We all need to listen to Bob.
- 16:22You know what, he's also correct.
- 16:23It is really annoying to listen to people whistle all the time.
- 16:25Yeah, yeah, he wasn't wrong. All right.
- 16:29What did you like about it? I I thought that they actually
- 16:34made the old lady kind of creepy in moments.
- 16:37Like I like that idea of having somebody like that.
- 16:41And like, you know, it's kind of like Pearl where they took me a
- 16:46goth and they just like applied fake makeup instead of using an
- 16:48actual old woman. Because when you do that, it
- 16:51kind of you can make it creepy. Yeah, it gets like a a type of
- 16:55uncanny valley, too. Yeah, exactly.
- 16:57So the way that they handled that, I thought that that was
- 17:00was effective and they actually made an old woman menacing and
- 17:05threatening at times, which it's not exactly easy to pull off
- 17:10because old women are not exactly physically threatening
- 17:14people usually. You know what I mean?
- 17:16Old people in general just aren't.
- 17:18I'm having flashbacks to working the register at the restaurants
- 17:24and. Verbally they can destroy you,
- 17:26but physically you can take them.
- 17:28If it becomes like a fistfight with an old person, you can do
- 17:31it. But their wisdom, they can tear
- 17:33you down with their words. I think the action is good when
- 17:38we actually get the. Action, yeah.
- 17:40You know, I thought the effects were good, the kills were good,
- 17:44and the effects were really good.
- 17:45And I was like. Really.
- 17:46When he cuts out? When Ghost Bob cuts off the leg.
- 17:50When he gets cut in half. No, no, when he cuts off the
- 17:52leg. Oh yeah, that was.
- 17:53Really good. Yeah, Steve.
- 17:54I think it was yeah. Whistling Steve.
- 17:57Yeah, yeah. And whenever I found out who the
- 18:00effects people were, I was like, oh, that makes sense.
- 18:02Yeah, because Blood Rage had a great FX.
- 18:05Team too. I, I loved him when he like came
- 18:07back, it was just like all his guts are sticking out like it
- 18:09was just like he glued his two parts.
- 18:11Yeah, and it just oozed. Yeah, the kills were inventive.
- 18:14I liked that he got cut in half with the window there.
- 18:18They like, like, made those makeshift weapons and they
- 18:20actually made use of them, which was fun.
- 18:23Yeah. I just, you know, this movie had
- 18:24a lot of, like, good things and a lot of good potential going
- 18:27for it there. OK alright.
- 18:30Bad stuff. The pacing was off for me.
- 18:33Yeah, this movie is slow. That was my thing too.
- 18:35Like there were a lot of scenes that I'm like, why aren't we
- 18:38cutting some? Like when they first get there
- 18:39and they're just kind of like looking around and it's like,
- 18:41oh, oh, we're not cutting. OK, let's just keep saying more
- 18:45words. This movie could have, it could
- 18:48have been one of those like great movies to make like a 69
- 18:52movie. Aaron's minute.
- 18:54I didn't do that intentionally, but I realized this as I said it
- 18:58like make it like 60, like a little bit over 60 minutes.
- 19:01Babysitting, this is, yeah, this is.
- 19:03This would be a really solid 70 minute movie.
- 19:05It did not need to be an hour and a half.
- 19:07Yeah, like if you shave that much time off of it, I think you
- 19:10really could have helped the pacing in some scenes.
- 19:13If you're gonna do a lot of cuz, they're stuck in the house and I
- 19:16get it, There's gonna be a lot of back and forth in between
- 19:18different rooms and it's gonna feel samey.
- 19:20It's a single location. Really, Jesse?
- 19:22I know. But to do that, well, you have
- 19:25to keep the pacing up. And it can't just be like, oh,
- 19:28we're just gonna have an awkward silence here, I think.
- 19:30Another thing that a lot of movies like this are good at,
- 19:33like you think something like Saw Tube, they make the rooms
- 19:36feel different, too. Yeah.
- 19:37And this movie, like every room kind of felt the same.
- 19:40You never really felt like you were in a different place when
- 19:42you wandered throughout the house.
- 19:43Yes, it's not like what you can do if you're filming in woods
- 19:47and you can use just like a small patch of woods over and
- 19:49over and over again because who the fuck is gonna notice?
- 19:53Yeah, exactly. Yeah, yeah, OK.
- 19:55Yeah. I mean, I agreed with you.
- 19:57I mean, and also like I felt because of that the tension
- 19:59suffered a few times. Yeah.
- 20:01Because you know, like you got the potential there.
- 20:03You got her wandering through the house, this old woman, and
- 20:07then you also have like the zombie ghost victims that are
- 20:10wandering around too. And you could have used that a
- 20:12little bit more and build tension, but.
- 20:14Yeah, it really felt like they were just trying to get to that
- 20:16magic hour and a half mark. Yeah, they were padding.
- 20:19Yeah, it felt like, which is. Strange.
- 20:21Take the time you need to tell the story you want to tell.
- 20:23Yeah, OK, ugly. Ugly.
- 20:27I guess the So I was a little bit confused with the story
- 20:32behind the house, but it sounds like the woman was attacked and
- 20:37when she went to the hospital, that's one of their.
- 20:39Home intruder things. Yeah, there was a home intruder,
- 20:42like a home invasion came. A home invader intruder came
- 20:45into her house and attacked and killed.
- 20:49No, it didn't kill her. They attacked her.
- 20:50Yeah, she went to the hospital and when she came back, she was
- 20:52jumpy. And so when her neighbor came,
- 20:54she stabbed him a lot. And then she died of a heart
- 20:56attack. And then it went to her brother.
- 20:57And her brother, I guess, is like a really shady real estate
- 21:00agent. Yeah, something with her
- 21:02daughter was involved. Too.
- 21:03Here's the thing, the scene where they were giving the back
- 21:06story on the House was the fastest moving scene of this
- 21:09whole goddamn movie. This.
- 21:10Whole thing goes at a snail space, but then they're like OK,
- 21:12here's everything you need to know.
- 21:14Here's. An exposition dump in 20
- 21:16seconds. Good luck.
- 21:17They read the script just right there.
- 21:20Yeah, it was pretty jarring. So yeah, I would say the way the
- 21:25this house has been sold and like how the ownership
- 21:30transferred seems kind of shady. So I don't want to call that
- 21:32ugly. OK, yeah, I could see that.
- 21:36Well, let's see, what is something ugly about this?
- 21:44I guess, man, I don't know, like, I guess Bob being a
- 21:50fucking asshole and just destroying a tombstone.
- 21:53Yeah. That was really disrespectful
- 21:55and it awoke. Her like it awoke her, but also
- 21:58like, it's not your fucking house, Bob.
- 22:00Yeah. You're here to help renovate.
- 22:01But yeah. Did Mark say yes, please
- 22:03desecrate this grave? No.
- 22:05It is weird. I wonder if they were aware of
- 22:07that, Like, hey, there is like a grave in your front yard.
- 22:11Just maybe that's why they got a good deal.
- 22:12That's probably. Why they were able to afford it.
- 22:14He definitely bought this house. Sight on the scene, right?
- 22:17It was like on like. Like Craigslist?
- 22:20No, it was probably on like one of those police auctions, like
- 22:23crime scene, like, yeah, there's been a lot out here.
- 22:26Yeah, he mentioned a down payment though.
- 22:28Somebody, well somebody, had already bought it and did
- 22:30renovate. Like started renovations but
- 22:32then they mysteriously disappeared.
- 22:34I wish I had seen that ghost. Yeah, right.
- 22:36Where was he? That would have been
- 22:39interesting. Oh well, OK.
- 22:42Absurd. The weapon Steve has, you were
- 22:45talking about all the homemade weapons and how much he loved
- 22:47it. But Steve's is a saw blade.
- 22:49I know, with like a cardboard handle taped onto the bottom of
- 22:54it. Yeah, that's that is absurd.
- 22:57And also, that tape wouldn't have stayed.
- 22:59It was just masking tape. No.
- 23:01It wasn't even duct tape. But he didn't use it.
- 23:04Like he didn't use it. Somebody else ends up using it.
- 23:06But it made him feel safe. I think that's all Bob was
- 23:09trying to accomplish there. I knew that he knew Steve was
- 23:12too much of A. Whip.
- 23:12He was setting Steve up to die. I think he just knew.
- 23:16Yeah, Cuz Steve was the whistle guy.
- 23:17Yeah. Yeah, I think you.
- 23:18I think you really just like wanted.
- 23:20To have a gala 20 inches like I don't need money I I will do
- 23:24this for free. Yeah, yeah.
- 23:25I but I mean, he, yeah, he, he wanted to feel safe.
- 23:30I think that was really all it was.
- 23:32He he took charge there. I like Bob.
- 23:34I don't think he wanted Steve to feel safe.
- 23:35I think he was trying to fuck him over.
- 23:38Maybe, maybe maybe. Do you have any absurds other
- 23:44than that? That was my absurd.
- 23:45I said other than that you can have more than one.
- 23:48You're absurd. OK so mine is I liked how this
- 23:54movie starts off. I thought it was just going to
- 23:56be a running gag but Bob can't open doors.
- 24:00It started off with him trying to open the front door and he
- 24:02can't get it. But then Rob Ron, Ron goes over
- 24:05there and like opens it first try.
- 24:07And then it just kept happening the more they tried to walk
- 24:10through the house and he kept trying to open doors and like
- 24:12other people was able to get it open.
- 24:13Well, got hair on my tongue. OK, Bless you.
- 24:19Thank. You sorry guys.
- 24:20I also think it's funny that this movie could basically be
- 24:24seen as a prequel to X sequel to Pearl if you wanted to because
- 24:29it's basically the same format as those movies where it's like
- 24:33an elderly woman that. Could be a prequel to X.
- 24:37It could be. No, Pearl is alive in X Yeah,
- 24:44Abigail is dead. It's a prequel to X equal to
- 24:49Pearl. Could be ghosts.
- 24:52I don't. I don't think these words are
- 24:54meaning the same the things you want them to.
- 24:55Mean it's a resurrection type thing she has her physical body
- 24:59still it doesn't matter no people don't know Pearl she.
- 25:01Was not resurrected in next though, no.
- 25:04I'm taking this too literally. I'm talking about if you just
- 25:06look at the way that this movie is, it's an old woman that's
- 25:09killing people. Yeah, you're you're taking it
- 25:12too literally. Yeah.
- 25:14Go ahead and tear down my upstairs there.
- 25:16Yeah, Yeah. OK, cool.
- 25:18I thought we were here to have a fun time and just like, you
- 25:20know, fuck around with this movie, but I guess not.
- 25:22A fun time within the appropriate limits.
- 25:24You're out of bounds, Sir. Well, I also think it's funny
- 25:27that they are like terrified of this old woman, like Steve.
- 25:29Whenever he's in the hallway, they're like, she's like, come
- 25:32on, it's your time to come. Sure.
- 25:33Time to die. And he's like, I can't.
- 25:35I'm not falling here. Yeah, you could just, like, go
- 25:37over there and knock her over, man.
- 25:39That's an old lady. Yeah, Bob thought the same thing
- 25:42too. And.
- 25:44Bob didn't. He ended up dying too.
- 25:46Bob the house. Got killed by a window.
- 25:48To be fair, windows are a little bit more physically intimidating
- 25:51than an old lady. Chose those windows, Abigail.
- 25:54God, that's God's business right there.
- 25:57Mother Abigail. OK.
- 26:00It's time to do the rating. OK.
- 26:02What do you rate this? Man, if this was a faster pace I
- 26:07would give it like a 7, but because there's so much.
- 26:10Like it was one of those movies that every time we pause it I'd
- 26:12be like holy fuck we have that much movie left.
- 26:14Yeah, it kind of that knocks. It down for me and I think I'm
- 26:17gonna give it like a 5. Yeah, 5 is about where I'm
- 26:21filming with it too. It's not bad and it's one of
- 26:23those movies that has a lot of potential to it, but it really
- 26:26is kind of it's Hanford by it's pacing issues.
- 26:29Yeah, if I'm sitting there going like how much?
- 26:31Like it felt like it took us 3 hours to watch this movie.
- 26:34Just yeah, I saw you get distracted so many times.
- 26:36You would put down your PIN and your things and you would just
- 26:38look at Talia and just like you, just like lost interest in the
- 26:42movie so many times you pull out your phone and start trying to
- 26:45watch Tik Toks. I was not trying to watch tik
- 26:47toks. Facebook reals?
- 26:48Excuse me? I didn't.
- 26:49I only did that on the ads. I didn't do it during the movie.
- 26:53I'm not a monster. OK.
- 26:57All right. So we got an average of five.
- 26:58OK, so let's go ahead and get this thing rolling.
- 27:00Let's do it. OK, 1948 we see a young girl,
- 27:07well a young woman, drinking lemonade as her mom is pacing
- 27:11around with a bloody knife over the body of a man.
- 27:14Yeah. And then she goes over there and
- 27:15stops the record, and then it's immediately 40 years.
- 27:18Later. Yep.
- 27:19Group of college kids roll up to a house.
- 27:21They bought the house to do a little fix up.
- 27:23Yeah, Mark said. He was able to make a down
- 27:26payment and he got a good deal on it.
- 27:29So he they're looking around. His girlfriend Jamie is
- 27:34suggesting like, hey, what if we put a vegetable garden over here
- 27:37and they're like, how expensive can a vegetable garden be?
- 27:39Let me tell you. Could be.
- 27:41Yeah, depending on what kind of work you're needing to do,
- 27:44they're going to have to like, lay out all the soil.
- 27:46They're going to probably want to make like kind of a perimeter
- 27:49around the vegetable garden. Like it's going to be more
- 27:51expensive than you think, Jamie. That's a hard.
- 27:52That's a lot of hard. Work, yeah, and it's going to be
- 27:54a lot of hard work. You're going to be really sorry
- 27:56for the next few days. That's.
- 27:57True, they also find a tombstone out front.
- 28:00It's for Abigail doesn't have a date on it, which is strange.
- 28:05Anyways, they they see it, says Abigail Leatherby.
- 28:08Yeah, Leatherby, that's what I said.
- 28:10Oh, I thought you said Leatherby.
- 28:11Leatherby and Bob breaks the tombstone, and then as soon as
- 28:15he breaks the tombstone, she rises up from inside the house.
- 28:18And I like how everybody is like, dude, what a fucking party
- 28:21Foul man that's terrible. He's antagonistic right out the
- 28:24gate. He is just like they're picking
- 28:26fights with everybody. Then they also find the world's
- 28:30thinnest noose hanging from a tree.
- 28:32Yeah, and I thought that this was going to come into play
- 28:36later, but it never does. No, all we know is that that
- 28:39Anne killed herself after reburying her mom.
- 28:42Yeah, which she, you know, she used it, but I thought that they
- 28:44were. And then like somebody was going
- 28:45to get caught in. Yeah, probably would have been
- 28:47like made more since we're to be Joey because he's outside, He's
- 28:51walked outside the house. Yeah.
- 28:52There was a missed opportunity there.
- 28:54Yeah, like he tries to climb the tree to get into a window and
- 28:56then close down. Yeah.
- 28:57It is, yeah, but whatever. Anyways, they Abigail's watching
- 29:02them from the window upstairs. They start to go in the door and
- 29:05then Bob goes, we go with the beer, right?
- 29:06And they're like, no, you don't need beer for this.
- 29:08He goes, I can't work without beer.
- 29:11That's called alcoholism, Bob. You should.
- 29:13OK, look, I'm gonna look. When you do outside work, hard
- 29:19work, that beer fucking hits. There's a difference between,
- 29:24hey, this would be a great addition to this project.
- 29:29It would make me feel really good after we've accomplished
- 29:31some work versus like I cannot survive without a beer.
- 29:35I'm just saying. Cannot function.
- 29:37That's the greatest feeling ever, is when you open up that
- 29:41preferably like a Budweiser or something, you got to get cheap
- 29:44domestic beer and you like do that.
- 29:46Holy fucking shit. It just feels so good.
- 29:50Anyways, he sends Joey to go get beer.
- 29:52He gives Joey some money, and Joey's like that's not enough
- 29:55money for beer. He ends on the budget for
- 29:57things. Yeah, he's like, yeah.
- 29:59Go make things and come back. Oh my God, maybe things didn't
- 30:03have a budget of $30,000. Maybe it was 30,000 cents.
- 30:09Oh, I wonder how much money that comes out to be. $300.
- 30:13Nice. OK.
- 30:15You're an. Accountant, that doesn't mean
- 30:17anything. That doesn't mean anything.
- 30:20All right, So Bob can't get the front door open and he's really
- 30:23aggravated about it. But then Rob comes over there
- 30:25and he, Ron comes over there and he gets it.
- 30:28Rob, Bob, whatever. Rob.
- 30:30Bob, Ron Weatherby, Leatherby. He's got, who can say?
- 30:33He's got the magic fingers, he's got the magic touch.
- 30:36It's Mystic Bob, Rob. Ron.
- 30:39Ron. It's Mystic Ron.
- 30:40He's got the magic fingers, he's got the magic touch.
- 30:43He gets the door open and they go inside.
- 30:46Steve starts whistling. This really pisses off Bob and
- 30:50he lets them know about it and then they all go outside to go
- 30:53get some more tools and then Ron is like hey Bob, not cool.
- 30:59He's just whistling, man, not that big of a deal.
- 31:02And then Bob's like, I'm an alcoholic and I'm sober right
- 31:05now. This is a problem.
- 31:06I need more beer. I'm angry.
- 31:09Yeah, Bob, he kind of comes across as a tool himself here.
- 31:13Yeah, so they look over in a room and they see a lights on.
- 31:18They're like, hey, that's interesting.
- 31:21I thought you said the electric wasn't working.
- 31:22And Mark's like, right, the electric's not working.
- 31:25Ron's brother is coming here tomorrow.
- 31:27He's an electrician. He's gonna get it running.
- 31:29And they're like, well that's really interesting because do
- 31:31you see that light? And they're like, hmm.
- 31:34While that's happening, Abigail, the old lady, enters the room.
- 31:37Yeah, I was shocked to see her. Yeah, she wouldn't even try to
- 31:40be sneaky. This is her house.
- 31:42Yeah, she. Just walks in.
- 31:43She doesn't say anything. She just stares at him and like,
- 31:45hey, what are you doing here? And then she just slowly turns
- 31:48and walks away. And then Mark's like, OK, I'm
- 31:51going to make sure she makes it out of the house so he follows
- 31:54her. And to prepare her for getting
- 31:57out of the house, the others decide that they're going to go
- 31:59open the door and it will not open.
- 32:02I like how they all try it. They they're getting drills on
- 32:05it. They're doing it.
- 32:06Really. Yeah.
- 32:07Yeah, it has so many locks too. It had like 7 I think locks on
- 32:12there. Except OK, they're not deadbolts
- 32:15people. There's a deadbolt, but like 4
- 32:18of the locks are just like the hook and loop locks.
- 32:21Hey man, it still makes a difference.
- 32:23I'd say you have to like be strong enough to RIP all of them
- 32:25off. That's that's a lot.
- 32:28That's a lot. And anyways, so but Jamie is the
- 32:33girlfriend of Mark. She's like, OK, I he's not
- 32:36answering when she's calling. So she goes to go look for him.
- 32:39She makes it to the stairs and sees a blood trail leading all
- 32:43the way upstairs. Is it a blood trail or did
- 32:45somebody just paint the wall red?
- 32:47It's a blood trail. They say.
- 32:48It's blood here in a minute. Yeah.
- 32:53And she walks up there and she finds this room and she enters
- 32:58it and it's a dresser that has some of Abigail's personal
- 33:02belongings on there. And she starts to peek through a
- 33:04little bit, and then Abigail just sneaks up.
- 33:07And you jumped in this moment. Yeah, you took.
- 33:10Big time. I was like, whoa, I got a good
- 33:12reaction cuz it does this thing and I was expecting it to.
- 33:16You can see into the other room across the hall and it's out of
- 33:20focus and I thought she was gonna slowly emerge from there,
- 33:23but then it cuts and she's already right beside Jamie and
- 33:25it was pretty good. Yeah.
- 33:27And she's like, yeah, Mark's dead.
- 33:29It's like, are you looking for your boyfriend?
- 33:31He's dead. Yep.
- 33:34And then she walks out and she finds Mark, and he is bloody and
- 33:38pale and he's like, kind. Of a Dick.
- 33:41Breaks up with her, I think posthumously.
- 33:44I don't know what he's trying to do exactly.
- 33:46He's like, oh Jamie, always so good at spending other people's
- 33:50money. Yeah, yeah.
- 33:51What about my responsibilities, Jamie?
- 33:53Huh. Huh.
- 33:53Some of us are teenagers with mortgages.
- 33:59Some of us got responsibles. That's a Rickyism.
- 34:04Mm hmm, mm hmm. You're you're wrestling my
- 34:07feathers. Rustling, rustling my feathers.
- 34:11That's right. Yeah.
- 34:13So she hits Mark and he like goes down and she runs to the
- 34:18others and is like, hey guys, yeah, Mark's dead.
- 34:20Old lady killed him. I saw it all myself.
- 34:23Because they don't believe it. And then they they kind of
- 34:25believe it after that point. So they just try and get out.
- 34:28Yeah, that like the windows won't open either, so there's
- 34:31basically no way out. Yeah, all the shutters are.
- 34:32Closed. Like closing and opening,
- 34:34they're just like slamming and shutting.
- 34:36Well, they stop slamming over and over again when Joey pulls
- 34:39up. Yeah, and they walked.
- 34:40Yeah, they all close. And he thinks that they're all
- 34:43just playing a prank on, and he does the correct thing, which is
- 34:46like, well, fine, then if you're not going to let me in, I'm just
- 34:48going to drive off and drink all this beer by myself.
- 34:51And then one of the windows on the top floor opens and Joey,
- 34:55instead of going, yeah, no fuck, this is like sure I will climb
- 34:58this rickety ladder to the second floor.
- 35:01Just so happens to be a ladder. Hey, I climbed the ladder to the
- 35:03side of our house last. Week.
- 35:05Yeah, that. Shit's scary and it was not that
- 35:07high. Aren't you glad that I didn't
- 35:08let you do that? Unspotted.
- 35:11Yeah, because you're like, it's OK, I'll take care of the
- 35:13gutters myself. No, the fuck you won't.
- 35:15You will not be climbing a ladder on your own, Sir.
- 35:17I got a bit more confident as I did it, but yeah, it's a little
- 35:20scary. So he climbs up it and you think
- 35:25that he is just going to get cuz like the old lady is up there
- 35:28with a machete just waiting for him to get up there and you
- 35:31think he's going to get up there.
- 35:32She puts down her cane. She's like, I didn't both.
- 35:34Answer this. Yeah.
- 35:36And she just, like waves and he gets up there and you think
- 35:39she's going to stab him in the face and he's going to fall
- 35:41back. But no, no, no.
- 35:43She lets him fuck him own self over first.
- 35:47Yeah, he drops the ladder. Yeah, he's hanging like dangling
- 35:50from the window there. Or hanging.
- 35:52He's angling, dangling. Yeah.
- 35:54OK Jesse, stop shaming me in front of people here.
- 35:57I will, I say. Stupid.
- 35:58Things. I say stupid things.
- 36:00Always. Shaming.
- 36:01Fucking sue me, all right? Anyways.
- 36:04I can't see you while we're married.
- 36:07So she takes the machete and cuts his hands off.
- 36:09Yeah, that's what. Happens and he goes falling.
- 36:12You think that's it? You think that's probably enough
- 36:14to kill him? No Abigail with the lead pipe.
- 36:17Yeah, takes the pipe and just throws it down.
- 36:20Right through Javelin. Like it?
- 36:22Is yeah, man, she she would have probably did track and field.
- 36:26Yeah, back in the day, you think you could find this old lady?
- 36:29Oh waiter no. Like she is really fucking
- 36:32badass but you don't know that yet.
- 36:35Anyways, so it's it's night time during all this.
- 36:40Time the group is moving through the house and they're like going
- 36:44through various rooms and then Steve gets locked on the other
- 36:46side of the door. He's in the hallway.
- 36:48Yeah. And so they're trying to figure
- 36:50out how to get him in back into the room with them, and the old
- 36:54lady appears. Abigail's there.
- 36:56This is kind of funny because she's just So what?
- 36:58We walk into and it's like, oh, the old ways here.
- 37:00And they're like, kill her, kill her.
- 37:01He's like, she's walking to me, like kill her.
- 37:03Linda's like, no, don't. Yeah, yeah.
- 37:06And then she just stops, and then she turns around and then
- 37:09she starts to walk out, and then she gets to the doorway and then
- 37:13stops again, slowly turns around and then walks back to him.
- 37:16He's like, it's your turn. Come on, come on.
- 37:19Come with me. And I said he walks downstairs
- 37:21and that's where he finds Joey there, still has to pipe in him.
- 37:24And he's like, oh, hey, yeah, no, it's your turn next.
- 37:27It will hurt but you'll be happy way.
- 37:30This goes yeah, you'll be happy. You'll be happier afterwards.
- 37:32And it's over. So Abigail approaches him now
- 37:35and he is threatening her with his little masking tape saw
- 37:41blade and she doesn't take it seriously.
- 37:44And she's able to like, nail him to the ground so that way she
- 37:49can then cut him open. Yeah, it's this right here.
- 37:52More Jesus imagery right here. He gets crucified, kind of.
- 37:55Kind of, yeah. And when the group finally is
- 37:58able to get through the door and go downstairs, they don't find
- 38:01him. They just find four holes in the
- 38:03Christian blood. Mention the buzz saw because she
- 38:06leaves the room and goes and gets a buzz saw and then cuts
- 38:09him up with that. I just said she got him up and
- 38:11then specified with what. The buzz saw is pretty
- 38:13intimidating. It kind of reminded me.
- 38:15Of kind of better than his. Just a single buzz saw blade
- 38:18with a duct tape handle on it. Yeah, it reminded me of High
- 38:21Tension, which that moment when he starts chasing her with the
- 38:24bug buzz saw, it's a it's pretty fucking crazy.
- 38:29Meanwhile, we got to a field with two teens who are bored and
- 38:33they're like, hey, let's go to the old Leatherby house, you
- 38:36know? The thing we never get their
- 38:37names. We don't even get Ricky's name,
- 38:39we just get it from the subtitles.
- 38:40Yeah, and Ricky basically has to bait the other teen into doing
- 38:45it. S yeah, I'm I will not call him
- 38:48that. I don't care if that's
- 38:50canonically his name. I won't do it.
- 38:52They. Talk about the history of it,
- 38:53though. They're like, hey, isn't that
- 38:54house supposed to be on? And like, I don't know,
- 38:56whatever. Maybe it is, maybe it is and I'm
- 38:58bored. Let's go like, check it out.
- 38:59Yeah, so. They go.
- 39:01Meanwhile, our main group finds a box of stuff in the house and
- 39:06there is an article in the newspaper about the house's
- 39:09history, which we kind of talked about at the beginning of this
- 39:11episode. I tried to write as much of it
- 39:13as I could because it went so fast.
- 39:14Let's see what you got. All right, so Missus Leatherby
- 39:18was stabbed 37 times during that initial home invasion.
- 39:23How do you survive 37 stabs? I have no idea.
- 39:26But it traumatized her and she went to therapy and she
- 39:30eventually made it through therapy and was able to return
- 39:32home with her daughter. And then that's.
- 39:35And yeah. And that's when her neighbor
- 39:37came and did a welfare check on her just to see how she was
- 39:40doing. Except she was still
- 39:42traumatized, I guess. And she ended up stabbing him 37
- 39:45times. That's killed him.
- 39:47And she had a heart attack. Well, yeah, Days later she died,
- 39:51and then the daughter eventually hanged herself because of all of
- 39:56the events that unfolded. Afterwards, well after she so
- 39:59when misses, when Abigail had her heart attack, she was buried
- 40:03in the cemetery, but Anne went and dug her up and reburied her
- 40:06on their property and then she hanged herself from the train.
- 40:09OK. I missed that part.
- 40:10I I knew the part about her hanging yourself, but yeah.
- 40:13Yeah, so they're reading all of this as the teens are busting
- 40:17into the cellar because apparently the cellar doors are
- 40:19not part of this. Doors don't open, but.
- 40:22I think the House encourages you or encourages you to enter, but
- 40:26it does not allow you to leave. So does that mean that the house
- 40:29just generally didn't want Bob? Well.
- 40:34Or Mark. Mark couldn't get any.
- 40:36Well, really, Bob was the one that's probably going to give
- 40:38him the hardest time other than Ron and S as we see you later.
- 40:43But Bob was the one that was like immediately like taking
- 40:46action here cuz yeah, like he helped them all arm up earlier.
- 40:50We missed that part. But like he like assigned
- 40:52everybody weapons and shit which is cool.
- 40:54Linda finds Steve sitting on the bed and she's like, Oh my God, I
- 40:57was so worried about you, are you OK?
- 40:58He goes no, I'm hurt, but I did manage to make it out and she
- 41:03was like, well I'm so glad you're OK, we're trying to find
- 41:05a way out. He goes, oh, I know the way out.
- 41:06And she's like cool, great, let's go get the others.
- 41:10He's like, but first will you hold me?
- 41:14And she holds him and he's like, you are always so great and so
- 41:17caring and I gotta kill you. Yeah, he uses as a saw knife.
- 41:24Yeah, Yeah. Which, you know, he actually
- 41:26used it. There we go.
- 41:28I think it's because he could just hold the blade without pain
- 41:32now. Yeah, I guess so.
- 41:33Maybe. Cuz I just here's The thing is
- 41:36you're not gonna get the right amount of like tension that you
- 41:38need. Like that tape is gonna wiggle
- 41:40off the second you try and stab somebody.
- 41:42Yeah, it's gonna hurt regardless.
- 41:44So the Rus have found a window in another room, and they've
- 41:48managed to get it open, but they noticed that Linda's missing.
- 41:51So Jamie goes back to go get her.
- 41:55Yeah, as does the others, and they find her just kind of
- 41:58sitting at the window, and she's being strange.
- 42:01Bob immediately recognizes that. She's a ghost.
- 42:03He just wails on her with a. Golf, he's he's got the golf
- 42:06over, he's going to do it. But they're like no, no, no,
- 42:08let's give her a chance. And then she's like, no, I don't
- 42:10think I want to go. I think I want to stay.
- 42:12And then he immediately takes the Golf Club and just whacks
- 42:15her in the head and it's effective.
- 42:17It knocks her out. I'm surprised we didn't have
- 42:19like a moment of Bob accidentally like wailing on
- 42:23somebody who wasn't dead yet. I wish we saw that.
- 42:25That would have been fantastic teens.
- 42:27It would have been good for that right there.
- 42:29So they go back to the window. They tie a rope and then they're
- 42:33going to repel out the window. And this is when Jamie realizes
- 42:37that the window now has like, a jagged bottom edge, and it's
- 42:39essentially going to function as a guillotine, which is how Bob
- 42:43gets bisected. Bisection Bob, as we like to
- 42:45call him. That's his.
- 42:47Nickname. Yeah, I like, I think they did a
- 42:50good job. It was a good decision to not
- 42:51make it a queen cut. But like, yeah, repeatedly slams
- 42:54on him and then cuts him in half.
- 42:56Yeah, that's a good decision, Both from like showing the
- 42:59brutality of the house, but also it allows for the special
- 43:02effects to be a lot messier. Yeah, and that's the thing.
- 43:05This movie, like it had the good effects.
- 43:07That was one of the good things. I had going.
- 43:08For it like put it on display. So Rick and S find Anne, the
- 43:14daughter of the old lady, and she's humming in her undies.
- 43:18She's walking her back and forth, undressing.
- 43:20Yeah, and they're like, what are you doing?
- 43:22She's like, oh, I always undress when you go or when I go to bed.
- 43:26And then the door closes behind them.
- 43:27Then she's like, I'm surprised that you made it here.
- 43:29And normally my mother kills people faster than this and
- 43:32they're like. What?
- 43:34And they're still like a little stunned from seeing boobies.
- 43:37So that's how Abigail's able to come in, kill Ricky, and then
- 43:41just throw the other teen up against the wall and kind of
- 43:43knock him out. It's.
- 43:44Strange. They kill Ricky, but they spare
- 43:47S and they're like, you can go. It's so strange.
- 43:51I don't understand. I don't understand why they
- 43:53went. Maybe the reason that I thought
- 43:55at first is because he was the one that was reluctant to go in.
- 43:59Yeah, I thought maybe they only like attack people that wanted
- 44:03to like, enter and be just kind of mischievous, but he didn't
- 44:07really wanna be there. Schemers.
- 44:09Yeah, also, that kinda reminds me, doesn't Rick kinda look like
- 44:13cousin Ricky? You don't think so?
- 44:17He's even got the little jersey too.
- 44:19It reminded me a lot of Ricky. I did notice that after this the
- 44:23team runs right and he runs down at the same time as Ron.
- 44:27Yeah, and he's trying to open the front door, but it won't
- 44:29open. And Ron comes downstairs, and he
- 44:31sees his teen, and he almost pulls what I assumed Bob would
- 44:34have pulled, which is he tries to kill this teen who's like,
- 44:36hey, yo, no, dude, I was also almost killed.
- 44:40And then before Ron can really react to that, he hears Jamie
- 44:43scream. So he runs back upstairs, and
- 44:45he's like, are you OK? And she goes, yeah, no, she, the
- 44:47old lady came in, but then she left, so it's OK.
- 44:50And he's like, OK, cool, come with me.
- 44:52There's another kid downstairs. Don't really know what his deal
- 44:54is, but we'll figure it out together.
- 44:56And as he's walking, we see she's got scissors in her back
- 44:59and she's trying to reach out and pull him out and she's
- 45:01there. Yeah.
- 45:04And he was like, are you OK? She cuz yeah, no, I'm OK, I'm
- 45:06OK. And she manages to get the
- 45:08scissors out. It's like that thing from Fuck
- 45:12from Neighbors with Rose Ow. And so she.
- 45:22She goes. In to try and attack him.
- 45:24S pops up and hits her with a piece of wood and Ron is mad at
- 45:29him for attacking his girlfriend but he's like no dude, she's got
- 45:32scissors in her back. Girlfriend Jamie?
- 45:35Is you sure Mark's girlfriend? Oh, yeah, you're right, You're
- 45:37right. OK, whatever.
- 45:38He's mad about it. Yeah.
- 45:40And he's like, no, dude got scissors in her back.
- 45:42Trust me, she was going to kill you.
- 45:44But then as they're bickering, she gets up again and like,
- 45:47tries to attack Ron. So they fight.
- 45:50I I hear you every. I know, I know, of course.
- 45:53Correct midway through his. Name.
- 45:55Move past it. I've moved past it, everybody.
- 45:57I've moved past. It no, I have I'm at peace with
- 46:00the fact that I do this. Everybody else here is everybody
- 46:02listening is at peace. You're the only person that is
- 46:05making any complaints about this right now.
- 46:07Travis, just move on. We have not heard audience
- 46:10feedback on this episode yet. Maybe we will have a poll for
- 46:13this episode as well. I'm calling them a different
- 46:16name every single time. Going forward, I'm not even
- 46:18gonna, like, have the same name. We're just going to do Bert now.
- 46:20OK. All right.
- 46:23So, Bert. I don't know.
- 46:26It's not just Bert. It's going to be somebody else
- 46:28next time, too. Doug.
- 46:29Now. OK.
- 46:32All right. So Joey and us start to.
- 46:35They start to find, like, they attack her and they kill her.
- 46:39I can't remember exactly how they kill her.
- 46:41I think they stab her with one of the scissors or something in
- 46:44her. Back, I just feel that they
- 46:47fight, the Steve is trying, so they fight, they go into another
- 46:51room and then this is where Steve pops back up and he's
- 46:56trying to bust down the door of the room that they're in.
- 46:58Yeah, they're, they're just in the room kind of catching their
- 47:02breath and they hear him whistling, which I think that's
- 47:04cool. That's creepy.
- 47:05Yeah. He's like doing his whistle down
- 47:07the hall. Because I was, I was just
- 47:09thinking to myself like, I'd shit my pants if I heard that.
- 47:14OK, so. He tries to bust on the door and
- 47:17he does manage to, but the teen kills him as he's beating all up
- 47:23on Ron, so he he does save Ron's life.
- 47:27Ron is little dazed. He gets him with the the saw the
- 47:30saw weapon. He gets him in the head with it
- 47:32and he kills him. Yeah, so they go back in the
- 47:35hall, and as they're in the hall trying to catch a breather, Bob
- 47:39approaches. OK, dude, this is cool.
- 47:41So like, before that, we get this little thing of him
- 47:43standing in a corner and he's drinking beer and he's, like,
- 47:45smashing the walls and stuff. And I like this moment because
- 47:48he gets out his cigarettes, and he takes the smoke.
- 47:50And you remember what he said at the beginning?
- 47:52He's like, I always smoke a cigarette before I do something
- 47:54big. Yeah.
- 47:55Which I think it was cool. It was a cool little moment.
- 47:57And I was like, OK, he's about to do something here.
- 47:59Yeah. So he approaches them in the
- 48:02hallway, walks past the two of them into another room, goes in
- 48:05there and drags Steve's body out.
- 48:08And then he's like, all right, guys, I need y'all to see
- 48:11something. And he starts to just like cut
- 48:14his leg off and he holds up the legs, like see this right here?
- 48:17This doesn't hurt him. He's dead, but you guys are
- 48:20alive. You guys are going to feel this
- 48:21shit. So he like throws that down and
- 48:23then they start their fight. Yeah, that was a kind of an
- 48:27intimidating way to do it. I know it's bad ass.
- 48:30Like see, he's not going to feel it.
- 48:31He's dead. You know what I think is?
- 48:33Even. More bad ass about Bob than all
- 48:35of that. What?
- 48:36The fact that his bandana is so far back on his head and doesn't
- 48:41just slide right off. That bandana is Immaculate.
- 48:44That bandana, like if you told me that there was wig glue on
- 48:49the other side of it, I'd be like, please tell me what brand
- 48:53because that shit is. Dying.
- 48:55Dude lost his half, like his legs and his upper half, but he
- 48:59kept that bandana on the entire time.
- 49:01Yeah, that's how good it is. So they have their fight.
- 49:06It's a pretty big fight cuz Bob is actually pretty tough
- 49:09compared. To the others so far, like I
- 49:10said, he's not the final boss, but he's the boss you have to
- 49:12beat to get to the final boss. Yeah, it leads into one of the
- 49:16rooms. I like how before he starts his
- 49:18actual fight though, he he does what I call it a Yip and RIP cuz
- 49:23he starts to go Yip, Yip Yip and then you like he like does like
- 49:28a like a whole Hal call type thing and he like he fucking
- 49:31lets him have it. It's a Yip and RIP.
- 49:35You say so. You know exactly what I'm
- 49:37talking about, right? You remember that?
- 49:40I was having a really hard time by the end of the movie.
- 49:43Having a hard time when I'm focusing.
- 49:44Yeah, this is when it gets interesting.
- 49:47It's all action of my interest before that though.
- 49:49Oh, dude, yeah, come on. I tried dude, I made notes I
- 49:53just but I just rather they file it.
- 49:55Yeah well the door gets axed down cuz he like takes the axe
- 49:59and he gets it down and it leads into the room there and they get
- 50:04him down on the ground and Joey takes a statue and bludgeons Bob
- 50:11in the head with it. I remember that part.
- 50:13Yeah, so they make it to another room and they are trying to bust
- 50:18out of the windows and they can't get him to budget.
- 50:21Abigail has been like, OK, I guess Bob is like the he was the
- 50:26next toughest guy and they fucked him up.
- 50:28So I guess it's up to me now. Yep, because there's like
- 50:31several other more ghosts. I don't know why they don't have
- 50:33a team of them fighting at once, but whatever.
- 50:37So she enters the room and she approaches and S makes a charge
- 50:42at her and she just like brushes him to the side and he just is.
- 50:46He's not even worth her time. So meanwhile Dean is over there
- 50:51and he tries to charge at her too, but he gets fucked up as
- 50:55well and she stabs S she has her own little weapon there with her
- 51:03and then they. So Ron stabs her with a
- 51:07screwdriver, like he stabs her in the back, and then he stabs
- 51:10her through the head and she. Yeah.
- 51:12And she just pulls it. Pulls it out of.
- 51:14Her head. Yeah, and that's when the S gets
- 51:19the axe as she's fighting Bill and.
- 51:23Dude, I it is driving me crazy that you are calling the teen S
- 51:27but you can't get Ron's name correct.
- 51:28S is easy and I'm doing the other.
- 51:30That's stupid. That's what S stands for.
- 51:33Stupid is easy for me, Jesse. That's my zone, OK?
- 51:36Don't, don't add me with that shit, all right?
- 51:39Anyways, he gets the axe and then like, axes her in the back
- 51:42and that's like the thing that actually gets her.
- 51:44So they cut her head off and kick it off.
- 51:46And I appreciated that not only did blood come out, but so did a
- 51:50little bit of pus. I also liked Nice.
- 51:52Attention to detail from the effects department.
- 51:54Good job, French. I thought it was funny how
- 51:56though you could see the four boards, like underneath move.
- 51:59Like they're kind of bending along with the head.
- 52:01That's like the heads. Yeah.
- 52:02Yelling and stuff. Yeah, yeah.
- 52:04It's, it's just like a funny little like, you know, you guys
- 52:07couldn't ask that. It's, it's still looks good.
- 52:10So it's the next day. I'm guessing S is dead because
- 52:16they like it's only yeah. I thought you were gonna keep
- 52:22talking. I was just trying to set the
- 52:23mood music for the next morning. I'm trying to think of another
- 52:25name here. Let's go with Ron.
- 52:33So Ron starts to walk out of the house and.
- 52:37Stab you in the head with the screwdriver.
- 52:39He opens the door and he's able to get it out, but he starts to
- 52:44walk out and he hears something behind him and it's S he is all
- 52:50zombified now and he has the axe and then he gets them right in
- 52:52the face. And then you guys.
- 52:54Yep. So that's how the movie ends.
- 52:57That is how the movie ends, all right.
- 53:00So rating, what are you going to?
- 53:02What are you going to make it now?
- 53:04I guess still A5 for me. I like, it's one of those movies
- 53:08that I really like the elements of it, but the final packaging
- 53:12just doesn't work. Yeah, I agree.
- 53:14I mean, it's still A5 for me. Also had a lot of potential.
- 53:18Just yeah, I think the pacing killed some of it.
- 53:22Yeah. Yeah.
- 53:23OK. Do we do scouts favorite part
- 53:27now? Yeah, and we discussed this last
- 53:30night because this isn't we can't use do our usual stick of
- 53:33like Travis comes up with one and the knife is like.
- 53:36No denying Scout's favorite part last night was.
- 53:39Scout is activated by whistles, you guys, and I mean this.
- 53:42And like, she starts like, you know, like when you see snake
- 53:47charmers like this Scout with whistles, she wiggles around.
- 53:52Out of a basket most times. And like, so, yeah.
- 53:58And there was so much whistling. And every single time it
- 54:00started, she would like go and then she would like rub up
- 54:03against us. Specifically the time when it
- 54:06zombified Steve and he's whistling down the hall because
- 54:09she got off of the couch and came down on my lap and, like,
- 54:12started meowing at us. Yeah.
- 54:14And then she put her face to my notepad and she's like, write
- 54:17that down. Yeah.
- 54:18To which I did. I wrote it down because she
- 54:19wanted me to. Yeah, she chewed on the corner
- 54:21of his notepad. Yeah, she liked it that that was
- 54:24her favorite part. There's no.
- 54:25Denying though, so there's yeah, I don't have an option to play
- 54:28around with it this time. Who did you relate to though?
- 54:31I no, that's a good question, man.
- 54:39I think related to Bob. Like wanting that beer while
- 54:42you're doing manual labor because that shit hits.
- 54:45That shit hits OK, There's no denying it.
- 54:47I, you know, mowing the grass. Give me a beer, man.
- 54:50That shit's got like, it's a great time to have a beer.
- 54:53I also related to Bob but because I struggle with doors.
- 54:57OK, Yeah. Dude, some of our.
- 54:59Doors in this house, yeah. Same way my quasi door gives me
- 55:03fucking fits every day, yeah? We really just need to shave the
- 55:06top of the door down. It's just misshapen several
- 55:09years of warping, all right. Do we do any of the other stuff?
- 55:17I can't remember. I don't think we do.
- 55:19No, we do like a dream sequel. Yeah, OK.
- 55:21Dream sequel. I want to see Ron's brother
- 55:24arrive and then he's. The electrician?
- 55:27Yeah, he shows. Up and like, maybe the ghosts
- 55:30have learned their lessons, so they're like playing it cooler
- 55:33this time. We mean.
- 55:36Like he's just oblivious to the fact that they're ghosts and
- 55:39they're not immediately being like, yeah, you're next.
- 55:42What if it? What if the next day just
- 55:45happened to be Halloween and he thinks they're all in Halloween
- 55:47costumes? God, I would love that.
- 55:49Yeah, I think that that would. Be like he thinks they're
- 55:51playing a prank or something like that.
- 55:52Yeah, yeah. And the teen's parents come by
- 55:56like looking for them. Yeah, man.
- 56:00OK, Yeah, I think that that's like a good set up there.
- 56:04You basically just do the same movie again with Morgos and
- 56:08maybe better pacing. Just like Night of the Demons
- 56:10too. We've never seen.
- 56:12I know. Yeah, I.
- 56:14Was taking a joke offhand and hoping that it sticks.
- 56:16Let me know if that joke worked, everybody.
- 56:18I think most people think that that movie's OK I think
- 56:21everybody agrees the original is the best, yeah.
- 56:23Yeah. OK, OK, so I guess now we we do
- 56:29reviews. We do reviews.
- 56:31We do reviews. We do reviews.
- 56:34Alrighty, so let's see here. Dead dudes in the house.
- 56:43Let's see this shit. OK, here is a three out of 10.
- 56:49This was reviewed last year so it's pretty up to date which is
- 56:53nice sometimes. Flavorless 1980s cheese when I
- 56:57sat down to watch 1989 horror movie.
- 57:00You refer to it as both flavorless and cheese.
- 57:04That does exist, unfortunately. Flavorless cheese.
- 57:07All right, when I sat down to watch the 1989 horror movie The
- 57:11Dead Come Home Out, it was actually labeled The House on
- 57:13Tombstone Hill for whatever reason.
- 57:15I don't know. Regardless, I had never watched
- 57:17the movie and with it being a horror movie, of course I opted
- 57:20to sit down and watch it. Writer and director James Riffle
- 57:23had every chance to entertain me as I had never heard about the
- 57:26movie, so I had 0 expectations to what I was in for.
- 57:30Well, the storyline didn't really appeal much to my liking.
- 57:33I found the narrative to be a rather moronic and pointless, so
- 57:36writer James Riffle didn't manage to entertain me with the
- 57:39contents he conjured up for the script.
- 57:42It was a rather sluggish narrative and it was just oozing
- 57:45with thick 80s cheese, and not in a good way.
- 57:48There was very little of anything interesting happening
- 57:50as the narrative moved ahead at the pace of a snail, making it a
- 57:54very difficult movie to sit through.
- 57:56The acting performances in The Dead Come Home was actually was
- 57:59not particularly great. The performances were sort of OK
- 58:03if you can get past the cheesy dialogue, but the actors and
- 58:07actresses weren't really given all that much to work with to
- 58:10begin with. I wasn't familiar with a single
- 58:12actor or actress on the cast list.
- 58:14Visually, they did. Come Home was not a great movie
- 58:17now even by 1989 standards, and I love how the exterior of the
- 58:20mansion that the people ventured into changed throughout the
- 58:23course of the movie. I didn't notice that, as it
- 58:26turned out then, I hadn't been missing out on a particular
- 58:29outstanding horror movie experience here by not watching
- 58:32The Dead Come Home before 2024. My rating of The Dead Come Home
- 58:35wins on a generous 3 out of 10 stars.
- 58:38Oh wow, yeah, calling that generous.
- 58:42Yeah, OK, well, I get it that that makes sense.
- 58:46I mean I we both agree with the pacing having.
- 58:49Issues. That is true, Yeah.
- 58:52Listen, I get that. Like, I just, I don't see how
- 58:57you can call something flavorless and cheesy.
- 58:59I'm not saying that this isn't cheesy.
- 59:02I think there's bad cheese for sure, but yeah, flavorless.
- 59:05Yeah. And maybe it's just not.
- 59:06Well, yeah, I mean, it's got flavor.
- 59:08It just might not be your flavor.
- 59:10Maybe he means like generic? Maybe, Yeah, yeah, it's not that
- 59:16gourmet cheese for sure, I can tell you that much.
- 59:19Is is American craft single? I think it's the the Fritos
- 59:26cheese dip, jalapeno flavour. There's a little bit of spice in
- 59:29there with the Gore A. Little bit of spice.
- 59:32Jalapeno. Listen, we were talking about
- 59:35this at work. Do jalapenos seem less spicy
- 59:37lately? Listen, I've asked you guys a
- 59:39lot of questions. I've asked you guys a lot of
- 59:42questions. This is the most important one.
- 59:44I need you all to answer in the comments.
- 59:46Are jalapenos less spicy than they used to be?
- 59:48Yes or no? You all fell for a trap.
- 59:50You thought this was a movie review, but really we're getting
- 59:52into the heart of the matter. Weird.
- 59:55I just. I just need to know if other
- 59:57people are having the same issue I'm.
- 59:59Going to make that a poll or not a poll like a question on
- 1:00:02Spotify. Yeah, when you upload the upload
- 1:00:04the episode and you can put in a poll like our jalapenos less
- 1:00:07size and you're going to be like, what the fuck does this
- 1:00:09have to do with the episode? And they're going to be an hour
- 1:00:11in and then it finally makes sense.
- 1:00:13Yeah, yeah. Tell us, people.
- 1:00:15What are your thoughts? On jalapenos lately as of late.
- 1:00:20It's just like we're talking about how I always have to get
- 1:00:22the Jarred Hall of Fenios because that's the only way that
- 1:00:24you get even like a little bit of kick to them.
- 1:00:27Oh well, I guess we'll find out. All right, review #2 here's the
- 1:00:33+1. OK, 7 out of 10.
- 1:00:35Very amusing. Gore cheapy.
- 1:00:39This was reviewed in 2003, so we got an older one here.
- 1:00:43Pass it over. 20 year old review.
- 1:00:45Dude, that's fucking insane. Dead dude.
- 1:00:48Dude, dead dudes in the house. James Riffle's dead dudes in the
- 1:00:52house has to be 1 of Trump's best.
- 1:00:55There's plenty of gore, some scary scenes, plus a lot of
- 1:00:58cheese. Hey, there we go, the good kind.
- 1:01:02The plot involves a group of young people going to fix up an
- 1:01:05old secluded house and falling victim to the murderous 100 year
- 1:01:08old lady named Abigail, who proceeds to splash them off and
- 1:01:12bring them back as a zombie. Like killers.
- 1:01:15Let me finish my sentence. I think we did because in the
- 1:01:1940s she was already an old lady. But we don't know that she was
- 1:01:22actually 60. And also, it feels like when you
- 1:01:26die, you're just that age forever, right?
- 1:01:29I don't know. We're getting too in, you know?
- 1:01:33OK, no, let's settle this. Let's settle this.
- 1:01:35All right, guys, in the car. Yeah, God damn it.
- 1:01:39She's over 100. OK, I side with this guy.
- 1:01:41That's two against one. All right, so that's the it's
- 1:01:44final. Where am I at on this review?
- 1:01:47OK OK Dead Dudes in the House is loaded with plenty of gore and
- 1:01:53violence. The script is pretty mediocre
- 1:01:55and there are some dull plots, but overlook that and you have
- 1:01:58an enjoyable low budget gore fest.
- 1:02:00The scene where one guy is cut in half by window is a hoot.
- 1:02:03Check it out if you can find it. 7 outs in.
- 1:02:06OK. Yeah, I mean, I think that there
- 1:02:09is an audience for this movie. I think that there's plenty of
- 1:02:11people that would find value in this.
- 1:02:13It would be their type of cheese, you know?
- 1:02:16Like if you if the pacing doesn't bother you, if you can
- 1:02:19deal with a little bit of sluggishness with your movie, I
- 1:02:22think you can find a nice little gym here.
- 1:02:27Hot take yeah, I understand this, but this is what I say
- 1:02:29about Breaking Bad as a series the whole time.
- 1:02:32Like I will just TuneIn for the interesting parts, which is not
- 1:02:36all of the show. Well, sorry fans out there, you.
- 1:02:40Can do like a fan edit and cut it down some.
- 1:02:43You know, I think we can make, I think there's enough material
- 1:02:45there to get a nice little edit for this movie and make it.
- 1:02:48Really. Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:02:50I think, I think this would be a fantastic 70 minute movie.
- 1:02:55I really do. Yeah, if somebody ever wanted to
- 1:02:58do that, maybe I will one day. Who knows?
- 1:03:00We'll get that. We'll do the.
- 1:03:02It's kind of like if you guys ever noticed the difference
- 1:03:05between our live episodes versus our which our live ones, we
- 1:03:08generally try and just talk too fast without thinking so much.
- 1:03:12That way we don't have dead air, but we cut out dead air on our
- 1:03:16like actual edited episodes because that's what you do.
- 1:03:18You want to keep the pacing up. You want to keep tension and
- 1:03:21everything up always, even though there's not like it's not
- 1:03:24I. Get pretty in the night.
- 1:03:26There's sometimes like I cut like silence in between like
- 1:03:28words because I want timing to be.
- 1:03:30Right. With something, yeah.
- 1:03:31And I mean, we do that. And this is a podcast.
- 1:03:34Like, we're not trying to scare anybody.
- 1:03:35We're just talking about a show, but we want to keep interest up.
- 1:03:38And you have to do that with movies, too.
- 1:03:40And this movie just really fails on a lot of its editing, I
- 1:03:42think. Yeah, you know, if we ever do
- 1:03:45like our own cut of it, we'll call it the jalapeno cut.
- 1:03:48Yeah, but not any of them 2025. Jalapenos.
- 1:03:53No. No.
- 1:03:53I see na na na na na na the. The odds version.
- 1:03:58Yeah. Odds Edition open.
- 1:04:01GMO jalapenos Extra Spezzy. So now it's time for the teacher
- 1:04:06word question. To be or not to be?
- 1:04:09I am going to say to be. Yeah.
- 1:04:12I think everybody, I think that this movie is good enough to
- 1:04:15warrant a recommendation. Just be like, it might not be
- 1:04:19your thing. It might be your thing.
- 1:04:21This. Is a movie that I would
- 1:04:23absolutely recommend to people. And it's also the type of movie
- 1:04:27that if we're having people over for like a game night or
- 1:04:30something, it's a good one to have it on.
- 1:04:32Yeah, while you're playing games.
- 1:04:33And then that way in between rounds, you look up and you're
- 1:04:35like, hey, that's fun. And and you go back to playing
- 1:04:38your game and you really haven't missed anything by the next
- 1:04:40time, like you've made it through a round and everybody
- 1:04:42wants to tune back in. I wouldn't recommend that for an
- 1:04:44initial watch. I think for anything you need to
- 1:04:46give your undivided attention. But I guess like a rewatch
- 1:04:50opportunity, I think that's a good time to do that.
- 1:04:53OK, Yeah. All right.
- 1:04:55So I think that does it for this month's to be or not to be.
- 1:05:01We are going to be moving on over to our Texas Chainsaw
- 1:05:05Massacre 3 episode recording, but in the meantime, we'd like
- 1:05:10to thank our bubbies out there. We have Joe.

- 1:05:35patron, we understand there are other ways you can help the
- 1:05:38show, like maybe rating us on whatever platform you listen on,

- 1:05:59So we're, we're popping up on those lists and we have those
- 1:06:01lists popping up for us and that's really nice.
- 1:06:03Thank you. That's why we say that's a free
- 1:06:06thing you can do that helps the show.
- 1:06:08It really does make a difference.
- 1:06:09Following is a big, big thing. Yeah.
- 1:06:10So if you haven't, you know, if you don't even have to listen to
- 1:06:14every episode, but if you just hit that button, that does help
