- 3:27Speaker 1: Now.
- 3:28Speaker 3: I hope it was a good one for you. Listen.
- 3:31Speaker 3: I don't I don't mean to start out on a
- 3:34Speaker 3: negative note, but the weather this weekend, Paul was just shite.
- 3:40Speaker 3: God man, especially yesterday was like are you kidding me?
- 3:46Speaker 3: You know, And my brother who's like like four hours
- 3:50Speaker 3: to the south, is calling me. He's like, yeah, we've
- 3:52Speaker 3: got the lawnmower going blue Sky and I'm like, wow, dude.
- 3:57Speaker 4: Yeah, my friend and Virginia has been talking about mona
- 3:58Speaker 4: his lawn for a couple of weeks.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean, God, just like really, I mean, it's
- 4:07Speaker 3: it's not it's not going to be productive to get
- 4:10Speaker 3: upset at Mother Nature. Nothing's gonna change.
- 4:14Speaker 4: But I'm no, I just accept it.
- 4:16Speaker 3: It is well you can't accept it, or you can
- 4:19Speaker 3: just say I'm getting the hell out of here.
- 4:21Speaker 5: You know.
- 4:22Speaker 4: That's that's still it can be a form of acceptance.
- 4:24Speaker 4: Acceptance doesn't mean that you stay in it. Right, I
- 4:26Speaker 4: walk out and it's snowing, and I don't want to
- 4:28Speaker 4: be in the snow, and I'll stay in it. But
- 4:30Speaker 4: I accepted it's snowing, I don't get mad about it,
- 4:32Speaker 4: and I get mad about it, and I'm creating energy
- 4:33Speaker 4: inside myself. It's gonna wreak havoc on me and stay
- 4:36Speaker 4: in there forever?
- 4:37Speaker 3: All right, I created that negative energy. It's yourself. I
- 4:42Speaker 3: even texted a g and I'm like, I vented on
- 4:47Speaker 3: him yesterday. I just I've had enough. I mean, come on,
- 4:50Speaker 3: can we just get bring on the block?
- 4:53Speaker 5: Right?
- 4:53Speaker 4: So why do you say bring on the blackflies? That's
- 4:57Speaker 4: what you're hoping for him.
- 4:58Speaker 3: I'm hoping for the black let's shift gears here, right?
- 5:01Speaker 4: But all all this stuff is like it shouldn't be
- 5:04Speaker 4: this way anymore? Just replace should with wand oh yeah,
- 5:08Speaker 4: I don't want it to be this way. Why can
- 5:11Speaker 4: you change it?
- 5:12Speaker 3: Nope?
- 5:12Speaker 4: Okay, no, except that yield to it.
- 5:14Speaker 3: You don't like it?
- 5:14Speaker 5: Move?
- 5:15Speaker 3: Yeah right, Hey, very happy birthday today to Brandy Marie

- 5:48Speaker 3: cold temperatures forced the postponement of the Pine Tree State
- 5:55Speaker 3: one five for the ACT Tour. It has been moved
- 6:00Speaker 3: to Saturday, October eighteenth.
- 6:03Speaker 4: What are you talking about?
- 6:04Speaker 3: It's the backside of the summer Saturdays, Saturday's race race.
- 6:10Speaker 4: What was racing? Some of those words made any sense
- 6:12Speaker 4: to me?
- 6:13Speaker 3: The ACT Race, the American Canadian Tour. I know, I know, Pinewood,
- 6:19Speaker 3: American Oh god, no, American Canadian Tour, Paul.
- 6:23Speaker 4: But what what was racing? Humans? Bicycles? Humans on bicycles.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Everyone knows, Everyone knows what I'm talking about.
- 6:30Speaker 4: Except you. My superpower is not knowing what the ACT is.
- 6:35Speaker 3: Wow. Saturday and Sunday this coming weekend will be opening
- 6:41Speaker 3: weekend at the thunder Road. You've heard of thunder Road, right.
- 6:43Speaker 4: Yeah, I've heard them all, alrighty.
- 6:49Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 6:49Speaker 3: The car show and the practice both going to be
- 6:52Speaker 3: on Saturday, Community Bank one fifty on Sunday to kick
- 6:55Speaker 3: off the sixty sixth season Amazing thunder Road. Austin Cindric
- 7:03Speaker 3: wins the Jack Links five hundred at Talladega. The post
- 7:10Speaker 3: race inspection disqualified uh Logano, So those guys didn't have
- 7:20Speaker 3: the uh logano anyway, didn't have the Who was the
- 7:25Speaker 3: other one that was a disqualified yesterday? I can't remember. Listen.
- 7:32Speaker 3: I have here in front of me a message, a
- 7:38Speaker 3: post that was written and put on social media that
- 7:45Speaker 3: that I'm going to read and maybe even connecting with
- 7:50Speaker 3: the author of this. And Paul would love your your
- 7:54Speaker 3: two cents on it, and I appreciate you being in here.
- 7:57Speaker 5: But this is.
- 8:01Speaker 3: This got my attention this morning, as it did many
- 8:05Speaker 3: and this is a subject that I've been discussing on
- 8:10Speaker 3: the air now for a couple of weeks. And I'll
- 8:16Speaker 3: just read it after another weekend of annoying encounters. I'm
- 8:20Speaker 3: hoping this reaches all businesses in the city. I'll follow
- 8:25Speaker 3: up as well. Dear fellow downtown business owners, I hope
- 8:29Speaker 3: this message finds you well. I'm reaching out to ask
- 8:33Speaker 3: for our collective support in addressing an ongoing issue affecting
- 8:39Speaker 3: the safety and comfort of our patron's staff and families.
- 8:46Speaker 3: Many of you are likely familiar with Brandon Carbo there
- 8:52Speaker 3: it is the buzzwords of the week. Brandon Carbo over
- 8:59Speaker 3: and has been for well since last winter. Over the
- 9:07Speaker 3: past several months, he has repeatedly approached individuals in and
- 9:12Speaker 3: around our businesses under changing stories, often with the intent
- 9:19Speaker 3: to solicit money. While I have personally attempted to offer
- 9:22Speaker 3: him support and non monetary help as every person deserves dignity,
- 9:29Speaker 3: it has become clear that his continued presence is disruptive
- 9:34Speaker 3: and in many cases distressing for customers and staff alike.
- 9:39Speaker 3: Brandon has subtly harassed my family, patrons, and others, creating
- 9:46Speaker 3: an environment that feels unsafe and unwelcoming. This behavior has
- 9:51Speaker 3: gone on too long. As business owners, it is our
- 9:57Speaker 3: duty to ensure our shared space remains secure and inviting.
- 10:03Speaker 3: I'm proposing a unified step file a no trespass order
- 10:11Speaker 3: against him. It's free, it's simple and legally enforceable. If
- 10:17Speaker 3: multiple businesses act in unison, Brandon will no longer be
- 10:21Speaker 3: able to frequent Downtown violations would result in immediate arrest,
- 10:26Speaker 3: not just a warning. We are not targeting individuals out
- 10:32Speaker 3: of malice. We are protecting our community. Once we have
- 10:37Speaker 3: taken appropriate legal action in this case, we can continue
- 10:41Speaker 3: to address other similar challenges together, ensuring Main Street is
- 10:47Speaker 3: a safe and vibrant place for everyone. Thank you for
- 10:50Speaker 3: your time in consideration. Standing together, we can make a
- 10:53Speaker 3: difference with respect. Rich mcsheffery, who owns the corner Sho
- 11:00Speaker 3: Done Pub in Kitchen, and two loco guys. Brandon is
- 11:10Speaker 3: Uh is someone that I had a brief encounter with
- 11:18Speaker 3: the week before last and had somewhat of a kind
- 11:27Speaker 3: of a surprising at least what I thought was a
- 11:35Speaker 3: constructive conversation, and I invited him to come on the
- 11:42Speaker 3: airways and and discuss his story, his his life, which I'm.
- 11:50Speaker 4: You know me, Paul, I was gonna ask if why
- 11:52Speaker 4: don't you do that?
- 11:54Speaker 3: I'm trying to and and he stood me up. He
- 11:58Speaker 3: was he was a no show. But you know that,
- 12:01Speaker 3: I'm like, I'm also a no nonsense, nonsense kind of
- 12:05Speaker 3: a guy too, but on certain certain subjects in certain situations.
- 12:12Speaker 3: But you know that, Paul, I am one of these
- 12:17Speaker 3: guys that I love. I believe Listen, I'm not justifying
- 12:24Speaker 3: any of his behavior. The guy is a real news.
- 12:28Speaker 3: He's beyond a nuisance. I mean, our city manager Nicholas
- 12:32Speaker 3: Sterreli Castro referred to him as a nuisance. Rex Thompson
- 12:40Speaker 3: has referred to him repeatedly as public Enemy number one.
- 12:43Speaker 3: I'm not I'm not discounting that at all. That he's
- 12:48Speaker 3: I think he's a little tongue tongue in cheek. But
- 12:57Speaker 3: you know, I I just I want to know why
- 13:02Speaker 3: he is, why he is the person he is, What
- 13:10Speaker 3: circumstances in his life have led up to him making
- 13:15Speaker 3: the decisions that he's making. Why is he a public nuisance,
- 13:19Speaker 3: which again he is beyond a nuisance, and not just
- 13:25Speaker 3: in Perry, but also surrounding cities Montellier as well. Why
- 13:30Speaker 3: is this repeated offender still repeating? Why is it? Why
- 13:38Speaker 3: can't we have any more leverage with our our judicial system,
- 13:44Speaker 3: our courts, our police to get this guy out of
- 13:51Speaker 3: our community, you know. And and Rex, I think and
- 14:01Speaker 3: at times brush against being a vigilante. I mean, and
- 14:06Speaker 3: and I can relate to that too. I understand. You know,
- 14:09Speaker 3: there's there's many of us that want to just kind
- 14:12Speaker 3: of organically take care of the problem if the police
- 14:16Speaker 3: can't take care of it. And maybe you know, maybe
- 14:22Speaker 3: not physically harm him, but tell him. Look, we're going
- 14:27Speaker 3: to make it very clear to you. We as a
- 14:30Speaker 3: collective group of citizens who have physically presented themselves in
- 14:38Speaker 3: front of Brandon, We're going to make it very clear
- 14:40Speaker 3: to you that you're not welcome in our community and
- 14:42Speaker 3: you need to leave.
- 14:43Speaker 4: Yes, yes, that's rough.
- 14:45Speaker 3: And if you leave, you know, it's like and I've heard,
- 14:48Speaker 3: you know, well what if he goes, you know, next
- 14:50Speaker 3: door to the to the other community and then kind
- 14:52Speaker 3: of infiltrates back into into Berry City, you.
- 14:56Speaker 5: Know, I mean.
- 14:58Speaker 4: On a rail saying come from They would take someone
- 15:01Speaker 4: like that and put them on the train and say
- 15:03Speaker 4: you're not our problem anymore. Yeah, just you know, so
- 15:06Speaker 4: they just push it whatever. I don't know when you start,
- 15:10Speaker 4: I'm I'm if I identify with anything, I identify with anarchy. Uh,
- 15:16Speaker 4: you know, anarchy means without ruler, doesn't mean's chaos, It
- 15:19Speaker 4: doesn't mean right's in the street, which what you know,
- 15:21Speaker 4: the people in control are the people who are supporting
- 15:26Speaker 4: the political system.
- 15:27Speaker 5: One.
- 15:28Speaker 4: It seems like they want to make anarchy seem like
- 15:31Speaker 4: it's just absolute chaos. And yeah, the purge and stuff
- 15:33Speaker 4: like that, it's not anarchy means without ruler, meaning there's
- 15:37Speaker 4: no collective rulers. You govern yourself and I govern myself,
- 15:39Speaker 4: and so in that case then we do. So vigilanteism
- 15:43Speaker 4: uh exists because there's a perception that the system isn't
- 15:49Speaker 4: isn't adequate, and and so anarchy kind of supports that.
- 15:54Speaker 4: If I have an issue, I take care of myself
- 15:56Speaker 4: because I govern myself. You govern yourself if you're if
- 15:58Speaker 4: you are governing yourself in a way that's impeding on
- 16:00Speaker 4: my on my rights, my you know, natural born rights,
- 16:05Speaker 4: then I have I have a freedom to intervene. Sure,
- 16:12Speaker 4: we don't live in that system, though that might be
- 16:14Speaker 4: my preference, I don't know how well it would work.
- 16:16Speaker 4: I think that implemented in our current system, it would
- 16:19Speaker 4: fail miserably initially because we have a population of people
- 16:23Speaker 4: who are dependent instead of independent. I'm not independent. I
- 16:27Speaker 4: can't function without the grocery stores and stuff like thathandling
- 16:32Speaker 4: and oh but that's not that's not part of this yet.
- 16:36Speaker 4: But if we're not if we're not independent, we can't
- 16:38Speaker 4: be anarchists. We can't be self governing. So we're not
- 16:41Speaker 4: self governing right now. We are governed, so as long
- 16:44Speaker 4: as we're governed, it's hard to switch into a brand
- 16:46Speaker 4: of self governance. And so what we're talking about here
- 16:49Speaker 4: is the system's not adequately protecting people. Well, then what
- 16:53Speaker 4: do you do?
- 16:54Speaker 3: Yeah, and well, business owners are trying to figure out,
- 16:58Speaker 3: you know, they're all they're all talking about this, and
- 17:02Speaker 3: they're they're trying to figure out, you know, what, what
- 17:04Speaker 3: they can do. And a lot of them are saying
- 17:07Speaker 3: it's not it's not our job to figure out what
- 17:09Speaker 3: to do.
- 17:10Speaker 4: He's what crimes have been committed. This is the this
- 17:13Speaker 4: is the issue that's always I've been here seeing the
- 17:16Speaker 4: posts and stuff over the last couple of months. I've
- 17:19Speaker 4: never seen this person. I'm just but I know his
- 17:22Speaker 4: name now, and but I hear all these stories and
- 17:25Speaker 4: so sometimes there are there there's some there seems to
- 17:27Speaker 4: be that he had that maybe there are some alleged
- 17:30Speaker 4: crimes have taken place, but I don't know. Is is soliciting,
- 17:33Speaker 4: panhandling is add I don't think that's the crime in Vermont.
- 17:35Speaker 4: I don't think it's illegal.
- 17:37Speaker 3: Let's uh, let's bring him on, Rich McSheffrey. Uh Rich,
- 17:41Speaker 3: I just read your your write up, your post this morning.
- 17:46Speaker 3: Word for word, What say you, buddy, what are you saying?
- 17:51Speaker 5: I told you to stop calling me, didn't I?
- 17:53Speaker 4: Yes, he doesn't. He doesn't respect my wishes either.
- 17:57Speaker 5: I know I'm about file.
- 18:00Speaker 3: God, what's going on, buddy? Good morning to you. Happy daybody, Happy.
- 18:05Speaker 5: Monday, Happy Monday. I didn't know a superhero day.
- 18:08Speaker 3: Yes, yes it is, Yes it is.
- 18:11Speaker 5: I don't know. I don't know j D's Uh, there's
- 18:15Speaker 5: there's there's a lot more to.
- 18:16Speaker 6: It than probably you know, it's not It's not just
- 18:19Speaker 6: as simple as this guy being a nuisance.
- 18:21Speaker 2: Uh.
- 18:22Speaker 6: You know, anyone with a heart understands that this, you know,
- 18:25Speaker 6: didn't happen overnight. And there's probably things in his past
- 18:28Speaker 6: and and whether it be upbringing or getting into drugs
- 18:32Speaker 6: or making bad decisions, but ultimately, you know, he's he's
- 18:36Speaker 6: landed in an hour lap. And uh, you know, I've
- 18:40Speaker 6: had a conversation with him where I treated him like
- 18:44Speaker 6: I would a brother.
- 18:45Speaker 5: I asked him what his issues were, whereas he tried
- 18:48Speaker 5: to get help.
- 18:49Speaker 6: Uh, has he gone to places that you know in
- 18:52Speaker 6: the area that offered His answer was yes, He's been
- 18:55Speaker 6: in and out of this and that, And I mean
- 18:56Speaker 6: it's clearly a drug problem.
- 18:59Speaker 5: He's had family members that have odd I don't think.
- 19:03Speaker 6: You know, it's not for me to say, but I don't.
- 19:06Speaker 6: I don't think it's a full on mental health thing.
- 19:08Speaker 6: I think it's a drug thing.
- 19:10Speaker 5: He made it very clear. He told me he'd been
- 19:12Speaker 5: off for a couple of weeks.
- 19:13Speaker 6: But the problem is he's a compulsive liar too. He
- 19:18Speaker 6: said he wasn't able to get an I D therefore
- 19:20Speaker 6: he wasn't able to get a job. And you know,
- 19:22Speaker 6: I made it pretty clear to him that it was
- 19:23Speaker 6: going to be complicated for him to get a job
- 19:26Speaker 6: anywhere around here, even if he wanted to, with the
- 19:29Speaker 6: current status of his name. I offered to bring him
- 19:34Speaker 6: to Burlington Airport. I offered him a ticket to anywhere
- 19:37Speaker 6: in the in the in the world one way, that I.
- 19:40Speaker 5: Would drive him there. And I was serious.
- 19:42Speaker 6: I wasn't joking with him at all. I wasn't being
- 19:45Speaker 6: aggressive with him. It's just he was outside of our
- 19:48Speaker 6: building harassing customers. I was actually working in the kitchen
- 19:50Speaker 6: at this time and got called out there, you know.
- 19:54Speaker 6: So how I ended it basically was, you know, he
- 19:56Speaker 6: said he's been kicked out of every church. He's been
- 19:59Speaker 6: kicked off the bus for fighting with the bus driver
- 20:03Speaker 6: because the bus driver was picking on or made made
- 20:09Speaker 6: a comment to his girlfriend. I mean, it's just always something,
- 20:11Speaker 6: but there's no you really have to you really have
- 20:14Speaker 6: to be like I don't know, a mind reader to
- 20:18Speaker 6: understand what's true and what isn't. But the fact is
- 20:21Speaker 6: is that he's been around too long. He's causing problems.
- 20:25Speaker 6: I hate to see him go to the next town
- 20:26Speaker 6: over and be their problem too. I don't know what
- 20:29Speaker 6: the solution is, but I know that it is in
- 20:32Speaker 6: fact without question. If you look at the comments, even
- 20:35Speaker 6: on the post that I did today, people are saying
- 20:37Speaker 6: they're not coming to Bury because of this guy. That's
- 20:41Speaker 6: that's not okay. I don't I don't care what the
- 20:43Speaker 6: what the reason is behind it. It's it's not okay
- 20:46Speaker 6: that he is affecting the businesses.
- 20:48Speaker 5: That we've built for one for two.
- 20:51Speaker 6: I feel really, you know, I genuinely feel bad that
- 20:54Speaker 6: we lost a good police officer. I think that the
- 20:58Speaker 6: you know, the rules are rules, and if he did,
- 21:01Speaker 6: in fact, which it appears that he did, violate the
- 21:03Speaker 6: rules of the police department, then rightfully so he should resign,
- 21:08Speaker 6: be removed you know, I don't have a problem with
- 21:12Speaker 6: with law and order, no matter what side you're on.
- 21:15Speaker 6: I don't think this, you know, the vigilante thing, Oh
- 21:18Speaker 6: my god.
- 21:18Speaker 5: Yeah, I'd love.
- 21:19Speaker 6: To take care of this myself, but you know, there's
- 21:22Speaker 6: no there's no place for that either in society.
- 21:25Speaker 5: I hate the fact that we lost a.
- 21:26Speaker 6: Good cop, but I don't blame the people that had
- 21:28Speaker 6: to make that decision. I'm sure it wasn't easy. But
- 21:31Speaker 6: as you know, if you watch the news any day
- 21:33Speaker 6: of the week that you know, had they decided to
- 21:35Speaker 6: keep him, it would have been outrage on the other side.
- 21:37Speaker 5: So it's just it's it's a really hard predicament.
- 21:42Speaker 6: But I think that ultimately, you know, this guy, I mean,
- 21:47Speaker 6: I can think of dozens of times that he's messed
- 21:51Speaker 6: with my people. Him and I have kind of an
- 21:54Speaker 6: understanding about him staying away from my corner currently, if
- 21:58Speaker 6: you will. But you know, the other night, my sister
- 22:01Speaker 6: and some friends were going to a concert at the
- 22:03Speaker 6: Labor Hall and he was over there harassing them, asking
- 22:06Speaker 6: for money, asking for ride, asking for.
- 22:08Speaker 5: Drugs, Like, it's just not okay. It's not okay for
- 22:11Speaker 5: people to feel unsafe.
- 22:13Speaker 6: I'm in the process of, you know, trying to figure
- 22:15Speaker 6: out budget wise, if you will, with with my with
- 22:19Speaker 6: my businesses, how to afford to have hire a security
- 22:22Speaker 6: person to work just the evenings, you know, maybe just
- 22:27Speaker 6: before dark until the restaurant closes and my staff is
- 22:30Speaker 6: safely departed, because I just don't want to I don't
- 22:33Speaker 6: want to have it on my on my hands if
- 22:35Speaker 6: something happens to one of my people or one of
- 22:38Speaker 6: my guests because of this guy. And it just he's
- 22:41Speaker 6: he's not scary to me at all, Like I wasn't
- 22:44Speaker 6: remotely intimidated at any point by him. But you know,
- 22:48Speaker 6: I'm also not a seven year old that's just trying
- 22:52Speaker 6: to get in and out of a restaurant or a
- 22:56Speaker 6: female or or male or otherwise that just you know,
- 22:59Speaker 6: is is is verified of of somebody like that, you know,
- 23:04Speaker 6: not everybody's lived in the big cities. So without rambling on,
- 23:08Speaker 6: we you know, we've we've got a problem. It is
- 23:11Speaker 6: a nuisance and it and it needs to be dealt with.
- 23:14Speaker 6: And I and I think that that overwhelming. I hate
- 23:18Speaker 6: to even overwhelm the police with the suggestion I made today,
- 23:20Speaker 6: but something has to be done, because if you if
- 23:24Speaker 6: you look at all the times they've gone to make
- 23:26Speaker 6: contact with him, that's just telling him shoe go away.
- 23:30Speaker 5: Like they don't have any rights the police.
- 23:32Speaker 6: Police can't do anything whereas a no trespassing order at
- 23:36Speaker 6: least is you know, a legally binding document that that
- 23:40Speaker 6: allows the police to make an arrest.
- 23:42Speaker 5: So we're sick of it.
- 23:45Speaker 6: I don't want the police to have to deal with
- 23:47Speaker 6: it either, but I at this point, I'd rather have
- 23:49Speaker 6: the police deal with it than local business people having
- 23:53Speaker 6: to deal with you know, one loss of sales because
- 23:56Speaker 6: of it, or one uh one, one of their staff,
- 23:59Speaker 6: or or anyone feeling intimidated by by something that just
- 24:04Speaker 6: shouldn't be shouldn't exist.
- 24:05Speaker 3: Rich have you had a chance to see and if
- 24:08Speaker 3: you haven't, I encourage you to do so. H Nicholas Starelli,
- 24:13Speaker 3: castro or city manager, was was on with me last
- 24:16Speaker 3: Monday talking about Brandon Carbo. Have you had a chance
- 24:20Speaker 3: to see that episode of aired out?
- 24:22Speaker 6: I saw, I saw parts of it, and I think,
- 24:24Speaker 6: you know, I think he's a really smart, intelligent guy.
- 24:26Speaker 5: Like I don't question him.
- 24:28Speaker 6: I I think, you know, like anyone, he's you know,
- 24:32Speaker 6: oftentimes put in a position where he has to make
- 24:34Speaker 6: a decision that people aren't gonna like.
- 24:37Speaker 5: And that's you know, one of the reasons.
- 24:38Speaker 6: I don't get myself involved in any you know, politics,
- 24:42Speaker 6: because I have to sell Hamburgers at the end of
- 24:44Speaker 6: the day. That's how that's how my folks make their living.
- 24:47Speaker 6: So no, I think he's an intelligent guy. I think
- 24:50Speaker 6: he's doing a good job. You know, obviously other people
- 24:53Speaker 6: do too. He's you know, just been contracted to stay.
- 24:58Speaker 6: Same with the police chief. I had had the pleasure
- 25:01Speaker 6: of chatting with him before city council last last week
- 25:04Speaker 6: about cameras, and uh, you know, this guy, this guy
- 25:07Speaker 6: knows law enforcement, and the city manager knows how to
- 25:11Speaker 6: manage and you know with the with the camera things
- 25:13Speaker 6: not to shift gears. But you know, something like that
- 25:15Speaker 6: seems like a very simple step to to provide something
- 25:20Speaker 6: to make people feel the good people feel more secure.
- 25:24Speaker 6: And if the police chief who's not elected, he's he's paid,
- 25:28Speaker 6: the city manager who's not elected, he's paid, and the
- 25:31Speaker 6: mayor who's elected but agrees with having cameras, if those
- 25:35Speaker 6: three people, with what they know and where they've been
- 25:37Speaker 6: and what they do, all agree that this would would
- 25:41Speaker 6: be a good thing or at least a step toward
- 25:47Speaker 6: encouraging people not to behave poorly in downtown.
- 25:51Speaker 5: Who's the wiser here? Why are we questioning this? So no,
- 25:54Speaker 5: I think those I think that, and that got passed
- 25:57Speaker 5: by the way.
- 25:57Speaker 6: So I do think that will help it at least
- 26:00Speaker 6: save some time with you know, feet on the street, uh,
- 26:05Speaker 6: door to door police works.
- 26:06Speaker 3: And I've seen the comments maybe you have two of
- 26:09Speaker 3: cameras or one thing, and that's great. Uh, it shows
- 26:13Speaker 3: a lot of transparency. It shows what's happening, uh in
- 26:16Speaker 3: real time in our community. As you know, Montpellier has
- 26:20Speaker 3: adopted this, Burlington obviously has, I mean any uh somewhat
- 26:27Speaker 3: hub where city has has incorporated cameras into it. But
- 26:32Speaker 3: if you don't, right, every store, every business, but but
- 26:36Speaker 3: you need, you know, you need to be able to
- 26:38Speaker 3: enforce the crime that you're you're capturing on video. And
- 26:43Speaker 3: that's that's that brings some some some additional challenges Rich,
- 26:49Speaker 3: I guess.
- 26:49Speaker 6: I'm not following, Like if you if j Green runs
- 26:53Speaker 6: over something in front of a camera and it's on
- 26:57Speaker 6: camera and they have you and the car with your
- 27:01Speaker 6: car and a license plate, seems to me like that
- 27:03Speaker 6: would be a lot shorter work to to roll back
- 27:07Speaker 6: the cameras and see who who ran over such thing
- 27:11Speaker 6: that it would be to, you know, do the police work.
- 27:14Speaker 5: Of going door to door looking for witnesses.
- 27:16Speaker 3: And yeah, no, I know, I know exactly what you're saying.
- 27:19Speaker 3: It's it's just it's it's what i've I'm not saying.
- 27:26Speaker 3: What I'm saying is what I've read is that two
- 27:31Speaker 3: to have crime captured on video is one thing, but
- 27:35Speaker 3: we you know, we need additional police staff too to
- 27:41Speaker 3: do the job after the crimes have been caught on camera.
- 27:46Speaker 3: That's that's what I'm saying. Actual people.
- 27:50Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, that's a that's a that's a whole
- 27:53Speaker 6: another issue, you know, and we're unfortunately, we're not doing
- 27:57Speaker 6: ourselves a ton of favors by not supporting our police,
- 28:02Speaker 6: you know. And that's again, I know, we could go
- 28:05Speaker 6: on for hours, and that's an entirely different subject. And
- 28:07Speaker 6: I can understand why, you know, people aren't supportive of
- 28:11Speaker 6: all of our police, but the majority of our police,
- 28:15Speaker 6: our are trying.
- 28:16Speaker 5: To do the right thing and ultimately just want to
- 28:19Speaker 5: get home at night.
- 28:20Speaker 6: You know, They're not out to do bad things. And
- 28:23Speaker 6: and I think that you know, it's just for me.
- 28:25Speaker 6: It sucks because I'm a I'm a police lover. I
- 28:27Speaker 6: grew up in a family of police and like when
- 28:30Speaker 6: you know, like everybody wanted to be a police or
- 28:32Speaker 6: a firefighter and stuff when they're a little and you know,
- 28:34Speaker 6: it's like that ship has sailed and you know there's
- 28:38Speaker 6: there has to be a huge reform and recruitment and
- 28:41Speaker 6: everything on that. And it's and it's hard because you know,
- 28:44Speaker 6: you just feel like like the very city officer. It's
- 28:48Speaker 6: like you're you're one punch away from from losing your job.
- 28:52Speaker 3: You know, have have you hired? Zach Hughes is asking
- 28:57Speaker 3: what did he do at your your business? Did you
- 28:59Speaker 3: hire Brandon Carbo at any point?
- 29:02Speaker 5: No, I didn't know. He's he's just he just goes.
- 29:04Speaker 6: He's just around, like even over the weekend I had.
- 29:09Speaker 6: And this is the other part that sucks, you know,
- 29:10Speaker 6: like people going on social media and saying, I just
- 29:13Speaker 6: got carboed in front of Cornerstone or I just got
- 29:16Speaker 6: carboed in front of say business, Like they're they're putting
- 29:20Speaker 6: our name out when they're saying and they're not doing
- 29:23Speaker 6: it to affect us.
- 29:24Speaker 5: They're doing it to be like be on the lookout.
- 29:27Speaker 6: But you know it's it just sucks when you see
- 29:29Speaker 6: your name in the same sentence as his, And you
- 29:33Speaker 6: know that does affect business. If I was looking on like, hey,
- 29:35Speaker 6: where do I want to go out tonight, like looking
- 29:37Speaker 6: through restaurants and what do they have for specials or whatever?
- 29:40Speaker 6: And I see Brandon Carbo's hanging out at cornerstone on
- 29:44Speaker 6: the corner, what.
- 29:45Speaker 5: Would you do? Would you?
- 29:46Speaker 6: You know, I'd avoid it. So that's that's the problem.
- 29:51Speaker 6: I don't want to see anything bad happen to this kin.
- 29:53Speaker 6: I think anything bad that could happen to him already
- 29:56Speaker 6: has like he's I feel bad, but but I don't
- 30:01Speaker 6: feel worse for him than I do my hardworking, good
- 30:04Speaker 6: employees and the hardworking good citizens of not just downtown
- 30:08Speaker 6: but our community and surrounding area.
- 30:10Speaker 5: Like nobody should have to deal with that.
- 30:12Speaker 3: Yeah, and business owners they've got enough to worry about,
- 30:18Speaker 3: and they've got enough stress to contend with, and and
- 30:26Speaker 3: this this shouldn't be anything that that adds to it.
- 30:30Speaker 3: You're basically saying in your post that well more than
- 30:34Speaker 3: basically I mean, you're clearly saying in your your post
- 30:37Speaker 3: this morning, business owners ought to rally together and submit
- 30:42Speaker 3: a no trespass order, which is gonna essentially if we
- 30:47Speaker 3: get enough businesses to join together to do this, that
- 30:51Speaker 3: will I think I.
- 30:52Speaker 5: Think they I think they all will.
- 30:53Speaker 6: And of course there are people saying, well, no trespass
- 30:56Speaker 6: doesn't really do anything unless they come into your property,
- 30:58Speaker 6: which that's not entirely true either because a lot of
- 31:02Speaker 6: businesses downtown Berry and building owners own a little bit
- 31:06Speaker 6: of either their out back or they're out front, you know,
- 31:09Speaker 6: like there's a couple of feet of sidewalks, so there's
- 31:12Speaker 6: some there's some area there that's you know.
- 31:16Speaker 5: A little gray.
- 31:17Speaker 6: But nonetheless, and I don't want to put a burden
- 31:20Speaker 6: on the police where they have to go deliver individually.
- 31:22Speaker 6: Like my recommendation would be, like everybody file these things,
- 31:25Speaker 6: give the police a week, you know, and get them
- 31:28Speaker 6: all together and bring them to them all at once.
- 31:30Speaker 5: You know.
- 31:30Speaker 6: I don't want to make I don't want to make
- 31:32Speaker 6: a bunch of work unnecessary work for people. But for
- 31:35Speaker 6: the business owners it's easy. I'm going to be very
- 31:37Speaker 6: surprised if anyone doesn't do it. I kind of did
- 31:42Speaker 6: the same kind of thing several years ago.
- 31:45Speaker 5: I don't know. If you remember when we had.
- 31:49Speaker 6: A registered sex offender that was let out of jail, ye,
- 31:56Speaker 6: I believe he you know, almost kill the woman like
- 32:00Speaker 6: beater half to death, rape all this stuff anyway, and
- 32:03Speaker 6: he was reloading to relocating to Barry, which he.
- 32:06Speaker 5: Did, he relocated to Barry.
- 32:08Speaker 6: But I went door to door downtown with by myself
- 32:12Speaker 6: with a stack of no trespasses and everyone signed him.
- 32:15Speaker 6: Nobody wanted him anywhere near downtown, and guess what he
- 32:18Speaker 6: wasn't So I don't know, if nothing else, it's a deterrent.
- 32:22Speaker 6: I mean, is Brandon carbo smart enough to know all
- 32:26Speaker 6: the laws in and out? I'm pretty sure if he
- 32:28Speaker 6: gets a stack of of of no trespasses from the
- 32:33Speaker 6: majority even of the businesses downtown, I'd have to say
- 32:37Speaker 6: that it's a pretty good deterrent.
- 32:39Speaker 3: And Brandon carbo Is is really not the only one
- 32:44Speaker 3: to good point from other listeners who have mentioned Carlos
- 32:48Speaker 3: Perez and his girlfriend.
- 32:51Speaker 5: Oh, I had somebody.
- 32:52Speaker 6: I had a completely different person come in with a
- 32:55Speaker 6: song and dance to two loco the other day. You know,
- 32:58Speaker 6: I had him on camera and and he came in,
- 33:01Speaker 6: you know, looking for you know, his car, was broken
- 33:04Speaker 6: down himself, bury the whole bullshit that we we always hear,
- 33:07Speaker 6: and it was a totally different person. But you're not
- 33:10Speaker 6: gonna fix it all at once. But you got to
- 33:12Speaker 6: start somewhere. And if you start somewhere and and we
- 33:15Speaker 6: we gain a little traction here and something like this,
- 33:17Speaker 6: something as simple as us filling out a piece of
- 33:20Speaker 6: paper and dropping it off at the police station works
- 33:23Speaker 6: or gains a little bit of traction.
- 33:25Speaker 5: Maybe we see a little less of this. You know.
- 33:28Speaker 6: We got to start somewhere. And I think that this
- 33:31Speaker 6: is where we start with him. He's the big name
- 33:33Speaker 6: right now. And then you know, as the bigger names
- 33:36Speaker 6: resurface and these people repeat.
- 33:40Speaker 5: And bother people, I think they bothering. Harassing to me,
- 33:45Speaker 5: is is a crime.
- 33:47Speaker 6: If you're making somebody feel intimidated, that's that that is
- 33:51Speaker 6: that's a crime to me.
- 33:52Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't know.
- 33:53Speaker 3: It's just unwelcomed, you know, Yeah, it's just unwelcomed.
- 33:57Speaker 6: So yeah, I think we I think we start with
- 33:59Speaker 6: the big the big name, that's him, you know, see
- 34:02Speaker 6: if see if we can gain some traction and and
- 34:05Speaker 6: then go from there.
- 34:07Speaker 3: Rich, I'm going to reach out to you, uh, next
- 34:09Speaker 3: week and we'll see, you know about maybe having you
- 34:13Speaker 3: in here or having you back on the air with
- 34:15Speaker 3: any kind of update or or.
- 34:17Speaker 5: I'm not in fairness, I'm not going in there anymore
- 34:20Speaker 5: unless I get paid.
- 34:21Speaker 3: That's fine. Listen, we need to talk about money compensation.
- 34:33Speaker 3: I give Rex a buck every time he comes out.
- 34:35Speaker 3: I'll give you a dollar or two rich Actually, hold on,
- 34:39Speaker 3: I'll give you two.
- 34:41Speaker 5: Yeah, I want to make more than Rex.
- 34:42Speaker 3: All right, thank you, buddy, appreciate you coming on. Yeah, man,
- 34:48Speaker 3: Paul god Man, it's you know, as a counselor you
- 34:53Speaker 3: know there there is quite a bit of drug use
- 34:56Speaker 3: here that he you know, he has a reputation for
- 35:01Speaker 3: being a drug user.
- 35:03Speaker 4: I'm not gonna speak to any of that. I don't
- 35:04Speaker 4: know anything about that. So what do you what what
- 35:08Speaker 4: talked drugs in general?
- 35:10Speaker 3: What do you have to say about about all.
- 35:12Speaker 4: This internet speaker down?
- 35:16Speaker 5: You know? You know that.
- 35:20Speaker 3: Is we both have said numerous times, uh in the past,
- 35:25Speaker 3: and this morning we've already said everyone's got a story.
- 35:28Speaker 3: Everyone's story is unique, and well that's in my conversation
- 35:33Speaker 3: with Brandon Carbo. He you know, it was like like
- 35:37Speaker 3: I said, it was a respectful conversation, you know. I mean,
- 35:41Speaker 3: I've heard from rich and I've heard from many others
- 35:44Speaker 3: that Carbo can be very smooth with his his words.
- 35:50Speaker 3: But you know, he told me about some of the
- 35:52Speaker 3: hardship that he's gone through with two sisters that have
- 35:56Speaker 3: overdosed and died of father that just died. You know,
- 36:03Speaker 3: he's he's had, he's had some some hard times lately.
- 36:07Speaker 3: But by God, we all have though, right.
- 36:11Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 36:12Speaker 4: Well, and so you and and Richard both said that
- 36:14Speaker 4: having a conversation with him, it was, you know, he
- 36:16Speaker 4: was he wasn't menacing or intimidating to the two of you,
- 36:20Speaker 4: but like rich was saying, suggesting that other people might
- 36:23Speaker 4: find him intimidating.
- 36:24Speaker 5: You know.
- 36:24Speaker 4: And so that's the thing. So you don't know this
- 36:27Speaker 4: guy's story. You don't know what his history is, but
- 36:29Speaker 4: you also don't know the history of the person who
- 36:31Speaker 4: finds him intimidating. Yeah, and this is we're all we're
- 36:33Speaker 4: all just operating on our out of our experiences, until
- 36:35Speaker 4: we stop operating out of our experiences. I mean, just
- 36:38Speaker 4: settle into ourselves, our authentic self, the true self, and
- 36:41Speaker 4: then you you stop with all of this. This is
- 36:44Speaker 4: how it should be or shouldn't be. That's what's going on.
- 36:47Speaker 4: I mean, there's no judgment in that. It's just that's
- 36:50Speaker 4: what we do. It should be this or shouldn't be that,
- 36:52Speaker 4: based on my personal experiences. And so when you have
- 36:55Speaker 4: something come up and ask for money, if you have
- 36:59Speaker 4: the experience, is in the mindset the beliefs that it
- 37:01Speaker 4: shouldn't be that way. This guy shouldn't come up and
- 37:04Speaker 4: ask me for money. Well, then you're upset? Who created
- 37:07Speaker 4: the upset?
- 37:08Speaker 5: You did?
- 37:09Speaker 4: So there's some joke I can't put in the words
- 37:13Speaker 4: fasten up with some If Brando Carbo Brandon Carbo solicits
- 37:17Speaker 4: in the woods and no one's around to hear him,
- 37:19Speaker 4: does he actually do it? And I can't think of
- 37:21Speaker 4: it fast enough. If there's a joke in there, maybe
- 37:24Speaker 4: some people would find that inappropriate, But that's okay, that's
- 37:26Speaker 4: what humor is. But so if again, has he committed crimes?
- 37:33Speaker 4: If it's not illegal to panhandle, if it's not illegal
- 37:35Speaker 4: to ask for money, is that a crime? Okay? But
- 37:38Speaker 4: I felt intimidated. Okay, all your feelings, right, that's pretty
- 37:42Speaker 4: subjective stuff. Did he threaten you? Now there's criminal threatening?
- 37:45Speaker 4: I don't know I don't know the laws. We would
- 37:47Speaker 4: talk to the police officers in here and have them
- 37:49Speaker 4: explain it. What are the laws on this? What constitutes
- 37:53Speaker 4: a crime in the process of asking someone for money
- 37:56Speaker 4: or stopping someone on the street and talking to him.
- 37:58Speaker 4: I go walk out there right now and ask someone to, uh,
- 38:00Speaker 4: you know, can you take a picture of me in
- 38:02Speaker 4: front of this building? Is that a crime?
- 38:04Speaker 5: Is that?
- 38:04Speaker 4: Is that wrong? What if I'm scary? What if I say, hey,
- 38:07Speaker 4: I really want you to you know? What if I
- 38:09Speaker 4: say in an intimidating way, is that is that then threatening?
- 38:11Speaker 5: You know?
- 38:12Speaker 4: Or you know I can ask somebody for money and
- 38:13Speaker 4: they say no, and I say okay, thanks. I could
- 38:15Speaker 4: they could say no and I could curse at them,
- 38:18Speaker 4: you know, they could say no, and I can shake
- 38:20Speaker 4: my fist in their face. When when is it a crime?
- 38:23Speaker 5: You know?
- 38:24Speaker 4: So, I know, assault includes the threat, there's threat forces
- 38:27Speaker 4: threat in general. I guess I'm not sure. Again, I don't,
- 38:29Speaker 4: I don't, I don't know. I shouldn't say I know
- 38:31Speaker 4: assault does this and then say I don't know, but
- 38:33Speaker 4: you know there's something that something, there's threat, and you
- 38:36Speaker 4: know there's some law in there. So if if if
- 38:39Speaker 4: this person is breaking a law, then the police would
- 38:42Speaker 4: arrest them, right, isn't if the system is supposed to
- 38:44Speaker 4: be And so then are we saying that there's just
- 38:46Speaker 4: not enough police to see him do it? But it's
- 38:49Speaker 4: hard for me because there's a lot of situations where
- 38:54Speaker 4: where police get involved where I don't know that it's
- 38:56Speaker 4: necessary or the state. Maybe it's not the police so
- 38:58Speaker 4: much as the state will press charges against somebody if
- 39:01Speaker 4: if there's a if there's a dispute between two people
- 39:04Speaker 4: and they say no charges, the state can still press charges.
- 39:07Speaker 4: And that that's interesting to me and somewhat concerning, depending
- 39:10Speaker 4: on the situation. And if I'm wrong, great, But that's
- 39:14Speaker 4: my understanding of the way people have explained certain things
- 39:16Speaker 4: to me. And so if you've got a guy asking
- 39:20Speaker 4: for money in front of a store, can that store
- 39:23Speaker 4: no trespass him? Absolutely? Your property, your business.
- 39:26Speaker 3: I wonder if I wonder if the state's attorney is
- 39:30Speaker 3: even aware of Brandon.
- 39:34Speaker 4: Would why would anybody be aware of him? The only
- 39:36Speaker 4: I've seen Facebook posts and I got I don't know
- 39:40Speaker 4: doing the Facebook thing anymore, So now I don't see him.
- 39:42Speaker 4: But you know, so if you didn't bring it up
- 39:43Speaker 4: I wouldn't have heard about him or thought about him. Again,
- 39:48Speaker 4: I've never seen.
- 39:48Speaker 3: Him, do people do? Do you know what he looks like?
- 39:53Speaker 4: I've seen the little pictures on Facebook. I don't remember.
- 39:55Speaker 4: It looks like every other guy and Barry. I don't know.
- 39:59Speaker 4: He's not He's not like nothing. I don't know, just
- 40:01Speaker 4: everybody's people.
- 40:04Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 40:05Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 40:05Speaker 3: I think that if you know, Amy says, or don't
- 40:09Speaker 3: or don't carry too much money with you. I mean,
- 40:12Speaker 3: here's the thing I could ask for. My help's walking
- 40:14Speaker 3: around with cash these days, I'm not. I get asked
- 40:17Speaker 3: for money all the time.
- 40:19Speaker 4: I'm yeah, except JD's jad's good for he's got good
- 40:23Speaker 4: for two bucks a day?
- 40:25Speaker 3: Come get him three?
- 40:27Speaker 4: Here, he's got three.
- 40:28Speaker 3: Got three?
- 40:29Speaker 4: You're bringing attention on yourself. Don't flash it.
- 40:31Speaker 5: Three.
- 40:31Speaker 4: But I walk to work every day. I walk two miles, right,
- 40:35Speaker 4: I know. Every day some out and people ask me
- 40:37Speaker 4: for money, sometimes, not very often out here in my
- 40:41Speaker 4: office more often, but you know, but I do get
- 40:43Speaker 4: people asking me for money. And if I have money
- 40:45Speaker 4: and I can share it, I will. If I don't,
- 40:47Speaker 4: then I don't. And most of the time I don't
- 40:49Speaker 4: have any cash on me, and I kind of stopped
- 40:50Speaker 4: caring cash because people would ask me and I felt like,
- 40:53Speaker 4: if I have it and I can give it to him,
- 40:54Speaker 4: so I would. So now I don't carry anymore. As
- 40:57Speaker 4: a month or so ago, I was leaving my office
- 41:00Speaker 4: and a guy sitting on the bench out on the
- 41:03Speaker 4: on the parking lot and side and said, hey, you
- 41:05Speaker 4: got any You got any food? And I said no,
- 41:08Speaker 4: I don't have any food on me. And he said,
- 41:10Speaker 4: you got any money. I said no, I don't have
- 41:11Speaker 4: any cash either, and he said okay, and I kept
- 41:14Speaker 4: walking and that was the end of it.
- 41:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 41:17Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean he wasn't threatening to me.
- 41:20Speaker 3: Forbes saying the Barry community has no choice but to
- 41:24Speaker 3: correct their public image, which is affecting all faces of
- 41:28Speaker 3: their business and social environment.
- 41:32Speaker 4: Yeah, it's tough for me because I guess I don't
- 41:33Speaker 4: spend enough time on main Street around I mean, I
- 41:37Speaker 4: walk up and down once in the morning, once in
- 41:39Speaker 4: the evening around nine and then six. I'm walking on
- 41:43Speaker 4: main Street, but I'm not I'm not being bothered.
- 41:46Speaker 3: It might be safe to say, though, I mean I'm
- 41:49Speaker 3: assuming here. I'll probably get in trouble for saying this.
- 41:51Speaker 3: But I could assume that you have passed within close
- 41:56Speaker 3: proximity of Brandon Carpo.
- 41:58Speaker 4: Probably I wouldn't know, but I don't know. I've also
- 42:03Speaker 4: gotten to know a lot of people who I've heard,
- 42:05Speaker 4: you know, who have reputations, maybe not on that caliber,
- 42:10Speaker 4: but similar reputations, especially if you look them up in
- 42:13Speaker 4: the Times, argusts right up when they get arrested for something,
- 42:16Speaker 4: and they sound they sound like they're the worst. There's
- 42:20Speaker 4: just people, ever, and I know that, and I know
- 42:21Speaker 4: that they're not. So you get to know somebody on
- 42:25Speaker 4: a different level. It's it's tough. It's tough. We're just
- 42:28Speaker 4: we're operating on what our experiences are. But if if
- 42:30Speaker 4: somebody asking you for money is really disturbing to you,
- 42:35Speaker 4: why I'm not And again I'm not trying to say
- 42:36Speaker 4: that you're wrong for being upset that that you don't
- 42:40Speaker 4: like somebody asking you for money, or you're being afraid
- 42:41Speaker 4: of that guy. Obviously I don't know your experiences and
- 42:44Speaker 4: stuff like that, but you know, if he hasn't committed
- 42:47Speaker 4: the crime, what are you going to do to him?
- 42:48Speaker 4: If we start using the police to prevent people from
- 42:50Speaker 4: doing crimes, well, I guess that's part of the purpose.
- 42:53Speaker 4: But I think, like minority report extremes, right, let's go
- 42:56Speaker 4: to the extremes. I don't want to go to the extremes.
- 42:58Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 43:00Speaker 4: Rich said, if you've got cameras everywhere, good people aren't
- 43:02Speaker 4: going to be bothered by that. I don't know. I
- 43:04Speaker 4: don't think I'm a bad person. I'm not. I'm not
- 43:06Speaker 4: worried about cameras catching me committing crime. But I don't
- 43:08Speaker 4: want cameras everywhere. I don't know, I just I don't.
- 43:10Speaker 4: I don't like that what that creates the energy because
- 43:14Speaker 4: if it was done, if it could be done out
- 43:16Speaker 4: of out of peace and love, then great. But I'm
- 43:19Speaker 4: afraid that it's not being done out of peace and love.
- 43:21Speaker 4: It's being done out of fear, and then that's so
- 43:22Speaker 4: it's just creating a collective energy. That's, to me, is worrisome.
- 43:28Speaker 3: I think there's a reason why so many communities and
- 43:31Speaker 3: cities and everywhere in this current day world but technology,
- 43:36Speaker 3: have cameras everywhere. And furthermore, I think that there's good
- 43:44Speaker 3: reason that we should have them. That's my opinion. Sure,
- 43:48Speaker 3: I think there's been things that have happened within the
- 43:52Speaker 3: last couple of years here in Berry City, just alone,
- 43:56Speaker 3: just this just from what I'm glancing out right now,
- 44:00Speaker 3: are just looking, just looking to the east on North
- 44:04Speaker 3: Main Street where I think that if there were cameras
- 44:07Speaker 3: in place over the last couple of years, that I
- 44:12Speaker 3: think it would have made the police have an easier job.
- 44:18Speaker 4: And that's that's a tough one, because sure in some
- 44:21Speaker 4: cases maybe.
- 44:21Speaker 3: Because it has happened.
- 44:23Speaker 4: How many times you see it on camera? Stores being
- 44:26Speaker 4: broken into? People? Doing you see the crime on video?
- 44:30Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 44:31Speaker 3: I wonder what Twain pet would have to say about this,
- 44:35Speaker 3: who was beaten up by Carlos Perez right down the
- 44:41Speaker 3: road in the tunnel walk through there by subway.
- 44:51Speaker 4: Yeah, that's the hard thing. And everybody's experience is a
- 44:53Speaker 4: different and so someone who's experienced something like that is
- 44:55Speaker 4: going to have a very different reaction to someone who hasn't.
- 44:57Speaker 4: Like me, I haven't had these I haven't had these experiences.
- 45:00Speaker 4: So would would my tune change if somebody accosts me?
- 45:04Speaker 4: I don't know. Let's hope we don't have to find out.
- 45:08Speaker 4: But you know, things happen, and then can you accept
- 45:11Speaker 4: that it happened? It doesn't just acceptance doesn't mean you
- 45:13Speaker 4: would like it or you want it to happen. Acceptance
- 45:16Speaker 4: just means that it happened. If it happens, it happened.
- 45:18Speaker 4: If it's raining, it's raining. I accept that it's raining.
- 45:21Speaker 4: I don't have to stand in the rain. I can
- 45:22Speaker 4: go back inside. I can put up an umbrella, but
- 45:24Speaker 4: I can't change the fact that it's raining. So once
- 45:26Speaker 4: something has happened, to have to accept it. If I
- 45:27Speaker 4: resist it, then I'm only creating issues inside of myself.
- 45:30Speaker 4: And that's a that's a much deeper conversation perhaps and
- 45:33Speaker 4: what we're what we're on here, but but that's to me,
- 45:36Speaker 4: that's the root of it.
- 45:38Speaker 2: Uh.
- 45:38Speaker 3: Facebook question of the day before we close out here
- 45:41Speaker 3: for smokers looking to quit here in Vermont, a DOO
- 45:48Speaker 3: two quit offers cash incentives towards progress. And I'm asking,
- 45:59Speaker 3: what are your opinions about this? No, what are your thoughts?
- 46:05Speaker 4: The research doesn't support that to quit in the past.
- 46:08Speaker 4: The research does not support monetary incentives for quiting addiction behavior.
- 46:13Speaker 3: It's happening here in form all right.
- 46:16Speaker 4: Maybe the research has changed as I've last seen it,
- 46:18Speaker 4: but I don't know. My understanding is that it does
- 46:20Speaker 4: not support it.
- 46:21Speaker 3: I'm listen. I wonder if there's a few people that
- 46:23Speaker 3: are like, well, if I quit for a year?
- 46:26Speaker 4: Right, yeah, what are the stipulations?
- 46:27Speaker 5: Well?
- 46:28Speaker 4: How long do I have to smoke before I can
- 46:29Speaker 4: sign up for this program? It's really easy to quit
- 46:32Speaker 4: if I only been smoke in a week.
- 46:33Speaker 3: If I quit, if I quit for a year, how
- 46:36Speaker 3: much money could I saved to buy a few more
- 46:40Speaker 3: cases than cigarettes?
- 46:42Speaker 5: Right?
- 46:44Speaker 4: You got a year's worth of I don't know money saved,
- 46:46Speaker 4: and then plus the incentives.
- 46:47Speaker 3: Maybe it's worked for some people. Maybe there's folks out
- 46:50Speaker 3: there that have had great.
- 46:51Speaker 4: Lig always going to be fine. There's always gonna be
- 46:52Speaker 4: a method that works for somebody. But I don't know. Yeah, well,
- 46:57Speaker 4: and where's that money coming from? And who funds they
- 46:59Speaker 4: don't quit?
- 47:01Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 47:03Speaker 4: So we can pay somebody to quit smoking, but we
- 47:06Speaker 4: can't pay the house people, you know it was? And again,
- 47:09Speaker 4: I don't know that's that's necessarily a lot of repossibility either.
- 47:12Speaker 3: But a lot of these programs are very effective. But
- 47:16Speaker 3: I'm just wondering, what what say you as a as
- 47:22Speaker 3: a listener this morning? Do you and you could post
- 47:25Speaker 3: it right up on Facebook. It's up there right now?
- 47:28Speaker 3: What what do you what do you say about this?
- 47:30Speaker 3: Do you think there should be cash incentives for making progress?
- 47:35Speaker 3: Quitting smoking? With aightoho two? Quit anyway, Have a marvelous
- 47:42Speaker 3: rest of your day and be well. Take good care.
- 47:48Speaker 3: I am wearing shorts today. I don't give a rat's ass.
- 47:53Speaker 3: And I wore shorts yesterday even though it was snow
- 47:57Speaker 3: and Paul, I don't care.
- 48:00Speaker 4: Neither do we d Neither do I think there are
- 48:03Speaker 4: people that do care. Okay, they probably are. Well, they
- 48:05Speaker 4: got to stop bothering themselves about that. I don't care.
- 48:09Speaker 3: I've had it. I don't care.
- 48:10Speaker 4: If I'm glad that you're comfortable. I want you to
- 48:13Speaker 4: be comfortable.
- 48:14Speaker 3: I don't care if it's snowing outside. I'm like, look
- 48:18Speaker 3: in my window, mother nature.
- 48:21Speaker 4: Mother nature.
- 48:22Speaker 3: I'm wearing shorts. Yeah, you want to see them?
- 48:25Speaker 4: Look at that, I see them. You're those games gams
- 48:31Speaker 4: are legs right.
- 48:32Speaker 3: See that right there?
- 48:33Speaker 5: Oh?
- 48:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't care. I'm wearing shorts. It's summertime.
- 48:37Speaker 4: You sound like you got some resistance in your I
- 48:39Speaker 4: have a little bit of resistance. The resistance just a
- 48:43Speaker 4: little yield to it. You still wear shorts and enjoy it.
- 48:45Speaker 4: But you'll, you know, to the fact that it's what
- 48:49Speaker 4: it is going to be outside. Just accept that.
- 48:52Speaker 3: Thanks for coming in. I love you, buddy.
- 48:55Speaker 4: Yeah, we'll talk about that pay raise later.
- 48:57Speaker 3: What's that.
- 48:58Speaker 4: We'll talk about the pay raise later, all right? They
- 49:00Speaker 4: more rich.
- 49:06Speaker 2: Band that they want the band and they want the
- 49:15Speaker 2: band that they want the band that they want
- 54:00Speaker 4: Assass
