- 0:00SPEAKER_11: It's Thursday, August 6th, and it's the All-American Trials preview edition of Quarter Horse Racing Talk Weekly Podcast.
- 0:07SPEAKER_11: And oh, by the way, did I mention Stallion ESearch is about to launch their brand new version of the award-winning website?
- 0:12SPEAKER_11: And with the launch, we will even further distinguish ourselves at the top?
- 0:16SPEAKER_11: I did now.
- 0:17SPEAKER_11: Here's your podcast host, Greg Thompson.
- 0:20SPEAKER_08: And hello again, everyone.
- 0:21SPEAKER_08: I'm Greg Thompson of stallioneseearch.com, and this is Quarter Horse Racing Talk Weekly.
- 0:26SPEAKER_08: And we'd like to thank you for joining us once again here on the number one Quarter Horse Racing Talk podcast in the Quarter Horse Racing World.
- 0:34SPEAKER_08: And we've arrived, guys.
- 0:35SPEAKER_08: It's that time of the year.
- 0:37SPEAKER_08: The All-American trials are upon us, as I will be heading out to Albuquerque this weekend to cover the not only the two days of trials in the All-American Faturity, but the Derby and the Oaks.
- 0:47SPEAKER_08: And boy, the Derby and the Oaks are stacked with some superstar names.
- 0:51SPEAKER_08: As I feel for the All-American Faturity Trials is the spot where we see the new superstar emerge as these two-year-olds go down the racetrack to try to get into that top 10 spot for the$3 million purse.
- 1:04SPEAKER_08: But it's also the LQHBA stale Faturity Trial Weekend as well, as well as the Cyre Cup trials down in Texas.
- 1:11SPEAKER_08: It's all happening this weekend, but there's another big thing in the news that we're going to tackle, and it revolves around our featured guests this week here on the podcast.
- 1:21SPEAKER_08: As a new stallion incentive program called Fuego was announced for the quarter horse racing world, that is backed by some of the heavy hitters in this industry that brings some of the incentive models that happen in other disciplines in the quarter horse world and brings it over into the racing world.
- 1:39SPEAKER_08: As the owner of Royal Vista Ranch, Cole Moorhead comes on with Maribella Torado from Rancho El Cabristo to talk about this big incentive program that's sure to shake things up in the quarter horse racing world.
- 1:52SPEAKER_08: And if you've been watching a lot of the telecast, whether it be the thoroughbred industry, which gets a lot more play on national television, one of the things they're pushing is some kind of program or some kind of direction that changes what we've been doing for well over a decade in the sport.
- 2:12SPEAKER_08: With some people calling racing a dinosaur, heading for extinction.
- 2:16SPEAKER_08: This is these are not my words.
- 2:18SPEAKER_08: I'm quoting directly from a national news source of a prominent thoroughbred owner, which I'm not going to mention here on this podcast, so I don't want to get stewed.
- 2:26SPEAKER_08: However, his words are racing is on the endangered species list.
- 2:31SPEAKER_08: So we're going to have to figure a way, just like every other sport out there competing for the entertainment dollar, we're going to have to find a way to engage in younger audiences as well as to try to find ways in order to enhance the sport to make the sport grow.
- 2:47SPEAKER_08: And maybe this is one of those ways it will grow in these incentive models that not only is this one out on the forefront of being out there before it goes out to the quarter horse racing world, but surely there's this model is going to be followed by others as well.
- 3:03SPEAKER_08: But we take the time to talk with Marbella as well as Cole, and I take the adage that I really don't know a whole lot about this program, and I ask them questions in order not only to educate me, but also to educate the listener or the stallion owner that's thinking of jumping into this incentive program, or the breeder who's thinking of nominating their foal to this program, or potentially the buyer at the yearling auction that's looking to purchase one of these youngsters that is tied to this program.
- 3:33SPEAKER_08: So let me stop running my mouth and let's get out of the way and get to these featured guests here after these words from our sponsor.
- 3:42SPEAKER_11: Another huge announcement as industry-leading Flying Cowboy 123 bolsters the already stout stallion roster at Lazy E Ranch.
- 3:50SPEAKER_11: A roster that includes Grade 1 Super Derby winner Big Lou, the legendary Corona Cartel, the number one second crop sire in the country, Cyber Monday, and one of the all-time leaders, First Down Dash, the Grade 1 winning and grade 1 producing sire, Kiss My Hawks, his son and grade 1 winner himself, Kempton, another leading sire in PYC Pincher Wagon, the champion and grade 1 winning Unrelentless, and the Grade 1 producing Valiant Hero.
- 4:17SPEAKER_11: All standing in Guthrie, Oklahoma at Lazy E Ranch.
- 4:20SPEAKER_11: Check out their website at lazyeranch.com.
- 4:25SPEAKER_09: Champions aren't made by chance.
- 4:27SPEAKER_09: They're built on proven nutrition.
- 4:29SPEAKER_09: For generations, Purina Horsefeed has been the trusted choice of horsemen across every discipline and every breed.
- 4:36SPEAKER_09: From quarter horses to thoroughbreds, performance begins with quality, integrity, and results you can see.
- 4:42SPEAKER_09: When excellence matters, feed with confidence.
- 4:46SPEAKER_09: Feed Purina, the industry leader in equine nutrition.
- 4:49SPEAKER_09: Learn more at Purinamills.com.
- 4:51SPEAKER_02: Alright, back to the show.
- 4:53SPEAKER_08: Alright, we're back here on Quarter Horse Racing Talk, ready to jump in with our featured guests, both of them representing the Fuego Championship program.
- 5:01SPEAKER_08: And that would be Cole Moorhead from Royal Vista Ranch as well as Mirabella Torado from Rancho Elcabristo, owners of horses like A Political Jess and A Political Blood.
- 5:12SPEAKER_08: Which I can guarantee you those will be in the program.
- 5:15SPEAKER_08: And I try to take the vantage point of not really knowing a whole lot about the program and trying to get them to explain it to me to make me understand.
- 5:22SPEAKER_08: Therefore, those people that are listening and then wanting to participate in the program can actually learn from what we're discussing and of course maybe even formulate their own questions when it's time to start nominating horses into this program.
- 5:35SPEAKER_08: So without further ado, let's get on the phone and discuss this highly anticipated topic here with Cole Morehead and Marbella Torado.
- 5:46SPEAKER_08: On the phone with both Cole Morehead, their Royal Vista Ranch, as well as Marbella Torado, uh with the Rancho El Cabristo.
- 5:54SPEAKER_08: Guys, thanks first off for getting on the podcast with us.
- 5:57SPEAKER_03: Thank you.
- 5:58SPEAKER_03: Thank you, Greg, for having us.
- 5:59SPEAKER_05: Thank you, Greg.
- 6:00SPEAKER_05: I really appreciate your invitation to the podcast.
- 6:03SPEAKER_05: We're very happy to be here tonight.
- 6:06SPEAKER_08: Guys, it's an exciting time.
- 6:08SPEAKER_08: Uh, there's a lot of things happening in the quarter horse racing world, all kinds of changes and happening.
- 6:13SPEAKER_08: And of course, this concept and idea is it's almost like it's been waiting to happen in the quarter horse world and in the quarter horse racing world.
- 6:22SPEAKER_08: And so I guess I would like to start with asking the first question is give me the origins of why are we looking in at this giant program that we got coming at us here with Fuego.
- 6:34SPEAKER_05: Yeah, um, I can just tell you in a few words, Greg, that I honestly the I believe that we're at the beginning of something that could have a lasting impact in our industry.
- 6:45SPEAKER_05: Um, as someone from the younger generation, I've always felt like the quarter horse racing was ready for something fresh, something that respected the tradition, but really wasn't afraid to innovate.
- 6:56SPEAKER_05: And that's how easy fuego.
- 6:58SPEAKER_05: Um, we're not trying to replace what makes this industry great, but we're trying to build on it and create more opportunities for the breeders, um, owners, trainers, and for future generations to come.
- 7:10SPEAKER_05: And if our vision becomes reality, I truly believe people will look back years from now and they're gonna remember that they were there when it all began.
- 7:19SPEAKER_05: That's how we as partners see fuego, and that's really, really special.
- 7:24SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I couldn't, I couldn't agree more, Greg.
- 7:26SPEAKER_03: I mean, you know, as far as you know, where this where this concept came from, uh for for a couple of years, I'd been struggling with trying to come up with a race for what we kind of call the junior stallions.
- 7:39SPEAKER_03: Had several owners come up and you know, just tell me that the junior stallions are really up against it in the in the quarter horse racing world.
- 7:46SPEAKER_03: You know, it's it's it's tough.
- 7:47SPEAKER_03: Um, we all know that there's about 15 to 20 stallions out there that are just kind of consistently, you know, winning those bigger races.
- 7:55SPEAKER_03: Um so it was it was it was in January 26, this January at the at the Heritage Sale, one of the uh co-founders of the Pink Buckle sale, Chad Buse, uh came over to the booth and and wanted to have a conversation and and asked me that you know if I would join up with him and and some partners to to start a race and essentially bring one of the aspects of the pink buckle to the quarter horse racing industry.
- 8:25SPEAKER_03: And you know, we we started brainstorming at that point, but I mean the pink buckle adds adds a lot of opportunities for for the barrel horse breeders, owners, stallion owners, and uh we just we really wanted to bring that concept all while giving the junior stallions their own playing field.
- 8:43SPEAKER_03: And and I think we did a great job putting that together.
- 8:45SPEAKER_08: Well, guys, before we get in there and start really like dissecting of how this works, kind of give me the concept behind why do you feel the quarter horse racing industry needs something like this?
- 8:56SPEAKER_08: You know, we've been doing the concept of the nomination payments, the the futurities, the certain futurities.
- 9:03SPEAKER_08: We've been doing that for a very long time.
- 9:05SPEAKER_08: We've been doing that for decades.
- 9:07SPEAKER_08: And now we're at a scenario where you guys are introducing this thing.
- 9:11SPEAKER_08: What was it that brought this group together that urged them to introduce this to the quarter horse racing world?
- 9:17SPEAKER_08: Why do we need this?
- 9:19SPEAKER_03: I mean, the the nomination system, like you said, is uh it's very well known in the quarter horse racing.
- 9:25SPEAKER_03: That's why I think I mean this is gonna be very well received by by the quarter horse racing industry.
- 9:30SPEAKER_03: We as breeders, you know, we're nominating our our winglings, our yearlings.
- 9:35SPEAKER_03: That's all very common in our industry.
- 9:38SPEAKER_03: But you know, the one difference that I think really, again, I'm gonna go back and hit on is when you're breeding to the top tier of stallions, and I'm just I'm gonna use our top tier, which is greater than fifteen thousand dollar stud fees, you know, you're breeding to those stallions with the idea that you're aiming those horses to these grade one, grade two races, the you know, the the triple crown, these these very large races, and and when you're breeding to these junior stallions, you know, unless they're right off the track and new, a lot of these horses, you know, there's there's lesser plans for them.
- 10:10SPEAKER_03: Maybe it's uh you know, they just want to breed an overnight horse or or they want to have a horse that they can aim at some lesser faturities.
- 10:17SPEAKER_03: We wanted to give those all tiers of stallions the top stage to perform at.
- 10:23SPEAKER_03: And and our and our vision or goal is to create a million-dollar opportunity for those junior stallions where you know they are not competing against those horses that are continually, you know, winning at a high percentage.
- 10:36SPEAKER_03: So the difference here is it's it's it's the system is very similar.
- 10:40SPEAKER_03: I mean, we essentially brought in uh selective uh stallion group, but then we're just building on to the nomination programs that are already out there.
- 10:48SPEAKER_03: What's going to be beautiful about this and why it's gonna it's just gonna continue to grow is because of the interest of those breeders that are breeding to these less expensive stallions.
- 10:58SPEAKER_03: And again, some of these are fresh off the track, some of them have been standing for you know 10, 15 years, but but they just they've never had the success to demand that$10,000,$15,000 stud fee.
- 11:09SPEAKER_03: So we're gonna give these smaller breeders the opportunity to play at the biggest levels.
- 11:15SPEAKER_03: We're going to give the largest breeders with the top mares in the country reasons to breed to these cheaper stallions.
- 11:22SPEAKER_03: And it's just, I think the it's going to compound and going to continue to get bigger and bigger.
- 11:27SPEAKER_03: And when it gets bigger and bigger, we're going to continue to increase the size of these purses.
- 11:31SPEAKER_03: And again, I think that's very important to bring more and more money into this sport to keep everybody enthused and excited about it.
- 11:39SPEAKER_08: Well, as a person that really doesn't know a ton about, say, like the barrel industry, it it other than they go in a they run around three barrels and whoever gets back the fastest wins.
- 11:50SPEAKER_08: I don't know a whole lot about the Ruby and Silver Buckle.
- 11:53SPEAKER_08: So I'm the perfect person for you guys to come in here and explain how this concept works.
- 12:00SPEAKER_08: Because I'm sure this is going to be at the forefront of making sure this is a success in the quarter horse racing world, of being able to get out there and explain this new concept of how this is going to work.
- 12:12SPEAKER_08: So let's take it from there.
- 12:14SPEAKER_08: Explain to me, I'll I'll take the the adage I I have a stallion in the the quarter horse racing world that stands for about a$2,500 breeding fee.
- 12:25SPEAKER_08: So you guys, if you're approaching me and and trying to to get me to commit to becoming a part of this program, give me the direction, kind of sell me on the idea, and of course, that will obviously educate the people on how this is going to work.
- 12:41SPEAKER_05: I could tell you in a few words, this is very exciting and it's something new for the racing industry.
- 12:47SPEAKER_05: Um, so I can just explain that at its core, Fuego is a Italy incentive program that is built around a limited roster of just 50 Stallions that will be enrolled.
- 13:00SPEAKER_05: So the process is actually it's really simple, simple.
- 13:03SPEAKER_05: Stallions owners apply, um, then you get accepted.
- 13:07SPEAKER_05: And from there, every folk conceived well, the Stallion holds an active slot, is eligible to participate in Championship Day, as long as the folks stay nominated each year, of course.
- 13:18SPEAKER_05: That's what Cole mentioned before.
- 13:20SPEAKER_05: So what makes Fuego different is that Championship Day features one futurity that is divided into four flights.
- 13:28SPEAKER_05: So this is based on the Stallion's advertised stat fee that gives Italy at different fee levels the opportunity to compete for major purses within a comparable group.
- 13:39SPEAKER_05: So this means that the flight will depend on the stat fee if that's um how you want to see it.
- 13:46SPEAKER_05: Um so while every horse still goes through the same trials to earn um its place, that that makes it a fair field and a fair shot for all of them.
- 13:56SPEAKER_05: The first championship they will offer a guarantee of$5 million in purses, which makes it the largest total purse ever offered by a single quarterhorse futurity.
- 14:07SPEAKER_05: And this is what makes it incredible.
- 14:09SPEAKER_05: We want to um create and make people feel welcomed.
- 14:15SPEAKER_05: We want people to see the integrity that it's behind this program because I honestly believe that the industry deserves integrity.
- 14:24SPEAKER_05: That's one of our biggest reasons, and that's how I got so excited about fuego.
- 14:29SPEAKER_05: I grew up in the corners industry, so I've seen how much passion people put in this.
- 14:34SPEAKER_05: And fuego isn't just another incentive program, it's trying to raise the standard and do things the right way.
- 14:41SPEAKER_05: So this is designed to create a long-term value for uh we as readers, we as Italian owners, and we as horse owners.
- 14:49SPEAKER_05: So it's it's built around exclusivity, but also opportunity and also integrity, as I mentioned.
- 14:56SPEAKER_02: And we'll be right back after these words.
- 14:59SPEAKER_11: If you are in the market for a yearling this summer, or perhaps looking at the way consigners handle their offerings, do yourself a favor.
- 15:06SPEAKER_11: Go over and take a look at the world-class operation of Royal Vista Ranch at the yearling sales.
- 15:12SPEAKER_11: Not only offering top shelf level yearlings, but also doing it with the class and elegance that most others can only hope to one day achieve.
- 15:19SPEAKER_11: Royal Vista has it.
- 15:21SPEAKER_11: Check them out.
- 15:22SPEAKER_08: Also standing at Royal Vista Ranch, the son of a political Jess, a political J Streak, the legendary sire and the leader of the industry, Apolit, the AQHA champion sire FTD going grand, the royally bred Heart of the Cartel, and completing his first year at stud, the grade one-winning Just Dulce, all standing at Royal Vista Ranch in Wayne, Oklahoma.
- 15:48SPEAKER_01: That's a sound of hope for the future, where new champions begin their journey towards racing greatness, and can be found at the Heritage Place Quarter Horse Yearling Sale on September 16th, 17th, 18th, and 19th.
- 16:00SPEAKER_01: So make plans to attend.
- 16:01SPEAKER_01: That's Heritage Place, the place where champions are sold.
- 16:07SPEAKER_08: All right, back to the show.
- 16:09SPEAKER_08: And going back to the concept where I have the$2,500 stallion, and you mentioned that there's going to be four flights.
- 16:16SPEAKER_08: There's there's the ember, there's uh the caliente, there's the azul, and then there's the inferno.
- 16:21SPEAKER_08: The ember is that for stallions that are 25 and below, what does that mean to have a category like that, the 25 and below?
- 16:28SPEAKER_08: And let's say my hypothetical stallion that I'm talking to you guys about, he fits into that category.
- 16:34SPEAKER_08: So what does that mean?
- 16:35SPEAKER_05: That means that your stallion is gonna be able to compete against those stallions that are probably just going off the racetrack or just starting a stallion career that probably are not breeding as many mares as they will in the future, but they're gonna have a first shot competing as fry ember, that it's gonna be their category, and it's gonna make it a fair play.
- 17:00SPEAKER_05: And we just want to see those new stallions growing up together with fuego.
- 17:06SPEAKER_08: So those stallions, I'm not gonna be competing against the grade one producing stallions that are already out there.
- 17:12SPEAKER_08: I'm gonna be producing against like stallions, such as horses that are just coming off the racetrack, as you mentioned, Mirabella, as well as stallions that are at the 25 or below level.
- 17:21SPEAKER_08: Now, in order for me to take that$2,500 stallion, what is it going to take for me to get enrolled into this program?
- 17:30SPEAKER_08: What what's the criteria that you're that I'm going to have to meet in order for you guys to ac or the Fuego organization to accept me into the program?
- 17:39SPEAKER_08: What what will it take?
- 17:40SPEAKER_03: So, Greg, I want to I want to jump in and and provide clarity on one comment you just made because it's very important.
- 17:48SPEAKER_03: So the$2,500 stallion has the opportunity to only compete against stallions in the$2,500 category and below, which would be your ember category.
- 17:59SPEAKER_03: However, let's say that you have this stallion and one of his offspring is the fastest qualifier out of all of the races for the day.
- 18:08SPEAKER_03: The beautiful thing about this is the lower tier stallions get the opportunity to run at the top inferno level.
- 18:17SPEAKER_03: The inferno horses cannot come down, but the caliente, the azul, and the ember horses can move up.
- 18:24SPEAKER_03: So what what's beautiful about that is if you have that less expensive stallion, he has the opportunity to compete at the biggest stage for the most money and prove himself, you know, and which which we all know what that means if you can compete and beat those stallions that are just out there dominating the market, what that's gonna mean for that stallion's future career.
- 18:45SPEAKER_03: So let's just say you you're the first or the second fastest time, and maybe your horse stumbles or something, and you're saying, Man, if he would have had a clean out, if that racehorse would have had a clean out, we would have you know daylighted the field.
- 18:58SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna run for the two million dollar purse.
- 19:00SPEAKER_03: I'm not going to back off to my million dollar purse.
- 19:02SPEAKER_03: But if if you want to take the safer bet per se, you can come all the way down to your invert category.
- 19:09SPEAKER_03: So the beautiful thing is is all three of those lower categories can move up and compete at the two million dollar uh purse in 2028, but the Inferno stallions cannot move down, they have to be one of the top ten fastest.
- 19:23SPEAKER_03: So that's so I wonder I just wanted to provide that clarity because that's important.
- 19:26SPEAKER_03: I think I think that that you know that's where we're saying if you want to only compete against your category stallions, you have that right.
- 19:34SPEAKER_03: But but but again, if you have that opportunity to compete against the biggest and most popular and the most expensive stallions, and you want to take that chance and you beat them, that gives those junior stallions that true exposure we're looking for.
- 19:46SPEAKER_03: So it'll add excitement, there's gonna be a lot of chance and risk in that those decisions.
- 19:51SPEAKER_03: It's just gonna be we're really looking forward to that.
- 19:53SPEAKER_03: So I I did want to clarify that.
- 19:55SPEAKER_03: And and and I'm glad you asked the next question about the selection process.
- 20:00SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 20:00SPEAKER_03: Uh so so this has come up often already.
- 20:04SPEAKER_03: This has been coming up for at first.
- 20:06SPEAKER_03: We were told there weren't gonna be 50 stallions apply, right?
- 20:08SPEAKER_03: That was some of the feedback.
- 20:09SPEAKER_03: Oh, you won't get 50 stallions.
- 20:11SPEAKER_03: Well, I can assure you we're gonna get more than 50 stallions.
- 20:14SPEAKER_03: Everybody's seen the value in this program, they're extremely excited to be a part of it, and and I'm very confident we're gonna you know have more than 50 applications here very soon.
- 20:23SPEAKER_03: What we will do in that scenario is we're gonna sit down as a partnership, who I I want to hit on here at the end of the call because um, you know, we have an amazing partnership put together on this group.
- 20:34SPEAKER_03: But we'll sit down as a partnership and and we're going to have to decide what stallions bring the most value, in our opinion, it's just our opinion, to this overall program.
- 20:44SPEAKER_03: Because I'll tell you right now, participation is going to be key to the future of this program's success.
- 20:50SPEAKER_03: Uh the first structures, they're built on stallion nominations, they're built on uh racehorse nominations, they're built on entry fees.
- 20:57SPEAKER_03: Participation is going to be key to the future of this program.
- 21:00SPEAKER_03: So we have to really make sure that that that's what it's going to be based around.
- 21:04SPEAKER_03: It's going to be based around stains that we think are going to be most impactful to the future and and what what stains would drive the most participation in the program.
- 21:12SPEAKER_03: That's how we're going to have to select it.
- 21:14SPEAKER_03: And that's good for everybody involved.
- 21:15SPEAKER_03: Again, you know, there's there's other things we can do that we'll talk about in the future, but but for these, we're only going to ever offer 50 spots.
- 21:23SPEAKER_03: That's that's what's that's what creates this exclusivity.
- 21:26SPEAKER_03: And that and that's what was really important for the pink buckle.
- 21:29SPEAKER_03: The pink buckle went out and they offered these 50 spots.
- 21:32SPEAKER_03: And and what happened was, you know, the the first pearl race they had, they they weren't full.
- 21:37SPEAKER_03: Then they delivered the on the commitment of the first payout, and and within days, they had hundred horses on the wait list.
- 21:44SPEAKER_03: I mean, it was it was crazy the amount of uh response that they got immediately after they just backed their word and and paid out what they committed to paying out a year in advance.
- 21:54SPEAKER_03: So that exclusivity is very important.
- 21:56SPEAKER_03: It's important for the stallion nominators because it creates value.
- 22:00SPEAKER_03: Value and equity value in these in these spots.
- 22:03SPEAKER_03: These spots can be traded, they can be leased, they can be sold in the future.
- 22:07SPEAKER_03: Just like the pink buckle, Ruby Buckle, and Riyada buckle, all of those, all of those systems.
- 22:12SPEAKER_03: And it's worked very well.
- 22:13SPEAKER_03: There's been a positive impact to all of those disciplines where this business model's been put in place.
- 22:18SPEAKER_03: And the money just continues to grow every year.
- 22:20SPEAKER_03: The payouts continue to grow.
- 22:23SPEAKER_03: So again, that that's that's how it'll be selected.
- 22:26SPEAKER_03: Um there again, it's there's there's six of us partners, and uh we'll sit down, we'll announce when we're getting close to being full uh in terms of shutting off the applications.
- 22:36SPEAKER_03: We'll probably give a week's announcement here in the next couple weeks because we're kind of blown away with the with the applications to this point, but uh we'll give it another week or two here and probably announce that we're gonna shut it off at a certain date, and uh and then we'll we'll hopefully announce the stallion roster here very soon, hopefully before the Riadosa sale.
- 22:54SPEAKER_08: Yes, and you keep using the word exclusivity.
- 22:56SPEAKER_08: Just like in the pink buckle scenario right now, those pink buckle spots sometimes do come up for sale.
- 23:03SPEAKER_08: And and the owner or the person that gets in on this will actually have the opportunity to if the need arises or if their stallion passes or and they run out of semen or any of any of those scenarios, they can either lease that spot or they can sell that spot.
- 23:19SPEAKER_08: Isn't that right?
- 23:20SPEAKER_08: Yes, sir.
- 23:21SPEAKER_08: That's an asset for them to manage, yes, sir.
- 23:23SPEAKER_08: Okay, so now that's through the stallion focus.
- 23:26SPEAKER_08: So now you've sold me on the idea of being a stallion owner.
- 23:29SPEAKER_08: Now let's switch shift gears.
- 23:31SPEAKER_08: Now I'm actually a breeder.
- 23:33SPEAKER_08: I'm deciding where I want to go with this.
- 23:36SPEAKER_08: I I have an opportunity to breed this horse, this horse, or that horse.
- 23:40SPEAKER_08: So I breed to a Fuego stallion, so now I have a full that that's going to be eligible for this championship day they were talking about.
- 23:48SPEAKER_08: So sell me on the idea of why do why would I put this horse in the program?
- 23:53SPEAKER_05: I just gonna be short.
- 23:54SPEAKER_05: Um, we as breeders, um, or you as breeder, if you're putting that example, Greg, you always thinking what's going to add value to your fool, the one that you're producing.
- 24:05SPEAKER_05: So you're gonna add value when he's a baby, then if he's going to the sensor, you're gonna keep it.
- 24:11SPEAKER_05: You have to think in the future and what's gonna add value to that baby, right?
- 24:15SPEAKER_05: So if a stallion is enrolled in fuego, that gives your foal the opportunity to compete for this guaranteed five million championship day that we're giving.
- 24:27SPEAKER_05: Um, so of course, as long as it's state's nominated.
- 24:31SPEAKER_05: So this is something that you're not gonna find anywhere else.
- 24:34SPEAKER_05: And the exclusivity that we are mentioning here, it's there are only 50 stallions that will be in FOICO um eligible.
- 24:45SPEAKER_05: So that becomes another factor to consider when you're making the birding decisions alongside the of the pedigree and the confirmation, if you're buying the performance, if you're um buying afterwards, it comes from the racetrack, and um you know, everything else that matters together with having a horse in the racing industry.
- 25:06SPEAKER_05: But um this is what I want people to understand that when you're breeding, you're making decisions that would add value.
- 25:14SPEAKER_05: When you're nominating, you're um making decisions that would add value.
- 25:18SPEAKER_05: And that's why we want people to understand that this exclusivity they will not find it anywhere else.
- 25:24SPEAKER_03: One more very important topic is a breeder.
- 25:27SPEAKER_03: This race and the championship payouts, we're doing something that I mean, a few state-bred races offer breeder payouts, but the breakout of the payouts is something no you know non-restricted race is doing, and that is we pay 80% to the racehorse owner, we pay 10% to the breeder, and 10% to the stallion nominator.
- 25:50SPEAKER_03: So when you're running at the top level in the inferno finals for$2 million, and your first place per payout is going to be$1 million in total, the breeder is going to receive a$100,000 check.
- 26:03SPEAKER_03: And the stallion nominator is going to receive a$100,000 check.
- 26:06SPEAKER_03: Between all four divisions in 2028, Greg, we are going to guarantee half a million dollars in breeder payouts and half a million dollars in stallion payouts and stallion nominator payouts.
- 26:19SPEAKER_03: No other race is doing this.
- 26:20SPEAKER_03: We are essentially 6Xing the number of checks that are being rolled in these typical faturities and derbies by paying a breeder and a stallion nominator payment.
- 26:31SPEAKER_03: The the racehorse owner still gets the largest majority, but but the breeder and the stallion nominator get a very lucrative piece of the purse.
- 26:39SPEAKER_03: And that's just going to continue to grow.
- 26:41SPEAKER_03: I mean, in 2029, we're having a Derby and an Oaks.
- 26:44SPEAKER_03: You know, in 2030, we're going to have an open championship, and every one of these races is going to pay 80% to the stallion owner, or I'm sorry, 80% to the racehorse owner, 10% to the breeder, and 10% to the stallion dominator.
- 26:56SPEAKER_03: That's a game changer.
- 26:57SPEAKER_03: I mean, I received one of the best compliments that I can ever imagine receiving being in my shoes as a partner of Fuego.
- 27:04SPEAKER_03: I had a very elite breeder text me uh two days ago, and he said, My wife and I, just so you know, have made the decision that we will never breed to a stallion outside of the Fuego program because we are so excited about what you all are doing from an integrity standpoint and from a breeder's reward standpoint.
- 27:22SPEAKER_03: You know, that those are the kind of things that are gonna just make this program explode.
- 27:27SPEAKER_03: I mean, you're going to want your stallions in this.
- 27:30SPEAKER_03: There's there's gonna be a lot of races outside of this race in the country, just like there, you know, are every year.
- 27:35SPEAKER_03: But why would you want to breed to a stallion outside of this program, Greg, when when they're gonna have an opportunity to run in their own divisions for hopefully the most money that's ever been offered in quarter horse racing?
- 27:46SPEAKER_02: And we'll be right back after these words.
- 27:49SPEAKER_08: Check out the Eagles Fly Hire Yearling in the Riadosa Select Yearling Cell hip number 325, who is half-sibling to multiple stakes winners, and whose catalog page is littered with black type up and down the page.
- 28:03SPEAKER_08: Check her out, the Philly Hip 325, high flying sign at the Riadosa Select sale, daughter of Eagles Fly Hire, standing there at Lacer in Opalousis, Louisiana.
- 28:15SPEAKER_11: Hey, here's the news you needed to hear about Uncle D.
- 28:19SPEAKER_11: He's got four yearlings in the Ruodoso Select Yearling sale this coming Labor Day weekend.
- 28:24SPEAKER_11: Hip 12 is a beautiful gray cult who is a half-brother to two stakes-placed runners.
- 28:28SPEAKER_11: Hip 158 is a super nice bay filly out of a favorite cartel mare.
- 28:33SPEAKER_11: Hip 319 is an Uncle D colt out of the grade one Rainbow Oaks-winning Miss Beth Dutton.
- 28:39SPEAKER_11: And hip 401 is an accredited Arizona bred filly from a champion family.
- 28:43SPEAKER_11: All four of these yearlings are eligible for the smart money incentive, which is 50,000 reasons of why to look long and hard at putting an Uncle D in your stable.
- 28:53SPEAKER_11: Uncle D standing at Prestige's Equine in Roswell, New Mexico.
- 28:57SPEAKER_11: All right, back to the show.
- 28:59SPEAKER_08: Okay, guys, I bred to one of your fuego stallions, and now I have a full what are those steps that I'm going to take to make sure this horse is still on the path in order to be able to run in this championship thing.
- 29:12SPEAKER_08: I I'm assuming there is nomination fees, so discuss that.
- 29:16SPEAKER_03: So uh as a as a Wienling, um the the first nomination fee is going to be$700 due in October of the Wienling year.
- 29:24SPEAKER_03: Uh there'll be a$100 late fee if if paid uh by December 15th.
- 29:29SPEAKER_03: So if you if it'll be$800 by December 15th, if if you're not able to make the October payment or forget, uh and then the we uh the yearling year, there's another$700 nomination payment, uh, January 15th, uh, with a hundred dollar late fee March 15th.
- 29:45SPEAKER_03: Uh so eight hundred dollars if you if you wait till the March 15th of the yearly year, and then the two-year-old year, January 15th, there's another$700 nomination.
- 29:55SPEAKER_03: And then based on the Remington Park meet, we will have four$1,000 entry fee payments.
- 30:02SPEAKER_03: So uh you pay your nomination, your$700 name and nomination as a two-year-old January 15th, and then you pay February, March, April, May, four$1,000 payments, and then you're eligible to enter the 2028 maturity grade.
- 30:17SPEAKER_03: Now that's a total of three$700 payments, so$2,100 nominations, and then four$1,000 entry fee payments.
- 30:27SPEAKER_03: So a total of six thousand one hundred dollars gets your full eligible to enter the Fuego Championships at the end of the Remington Park meet in 2028.
- 30:37SPEAKER_08: Well, that's very important that you're mentioning the Remington Park meet.
- 30:40SPEAKER_08: So let's lay that out there.
- 30:42SPEAKER_08: So we've arrived in that two-year-old season, guys, and and we're headed towards that.
- 30:46SPEAKER_08: Not something that's more than likely nailed down in uh set in stone, but what is that going to look like?
- 30:52SPEAKER_08: Three theoretically, right now, there's three futurities that are of significance there at Remington Park.
- 30:58SPEAKER_08: Where is the game plan to have this futurity fall upon?
- 31:02SPEAKER_03: I mean, first off, I want to thank Remington Park for being so excited and being such a great partner uh of the Fuego Racing Championships.
- 31:12SPEAKER_03: They, when we approached Remington Park, uh they were immediately excited about this opportunity.
- 31:17SPEAKER_03: And um, and not only Remington Park, but the Oklahoma Racing Commission.
- 31:21SPEAKER_03: You know, we've had some initial conversations with some of the commissioners, they're excited.
- 31:26SPEAKER_03: We are all all of us partners outside of one uh individual are Oklahoma residents and breeders.
- 31:33SPEAKER_03: So we wanted the program in Oklahoma, and and in our opinion, you know, Remington Park is one of the premier tracks in the country.
- 31:40SPEAKER_03: All the top breeders are supporting that.
- 31:42SPEAKER_03: Thank you to Remington Park.
- 31:44SPEAKER_03: They're being outstanding partners, and we're just really excited about that.
- 31:48SPEAKER_03: Um in regards to the three stakes races, the three premier stakes races that we're talking about here, we had no interest in cannibalizing any of those races.
- 31:57SPEAKER_03: Those have all been very important for Oklahoma breeders, they're gonna continue to be very important for Oklahoma Breeders.
- 32:03SPEAKER_03: Our plan is to continue to grow the programs in Oklahoma.
- 32:06SPEAKER_03: So, with that said, we approached Remington and we said, look, we're not gonna run on top of any of these races.
- 32:12SPEAKER_03: Will you be willing to allow us to run uh these championship races after the heritage finals?
- 32:19SPEAKER_03: And and and they agreed to that.
- 32:21SPEAKER_03: So in 2028, they are going to have the the softball Olympics are gonna be held in in Oklahoma City at the softball complex there.
- 32:29SPEAKER_03: So it's a little more aggressive on the timeline in 2028, but we're still going to run the trials uh right at the end of the current Remington Park meet.
- 32:39SPEAKER_03: And then they've agreed to allow us to run the championship day about two weeks after the Remington Park and the Heritage Place Championship weekend.
- 32:47SPEAKER_03: So if you qualify for the Heritage Place finals, you're most likely not going to be able to run in the Fuego championship.
- 32:54SPEAKER_03: But but again, we're all going to continue to support the Heritage.
- 32:56SPEAKER_03: I mean, the Heritage is one of my favorite races out there.
- 32:59SPEAKER_03: I think that's a decent consolation qualifying for a grade one uh race and being able to enter uh you know a new race that that that's come about.
- 33:08SPEAKER_03: But anyways, if if you don't qualify for in 2028 to the Heritage Place trials, you'll absolutely be able to run back.
- 33:15SPEAKER_03: There'll be enough time between trials and trials.
- 33:17SPEAKER_03: So if you don't qualify for the Heritage Place Finals in 2028, you're going to be able to enter the Fuego trials and uh hopefully qualify for one of our divisions.
- 33:26SPEAKER_02: And we'll be right back after these words.
- 33:30SPEAKER_08: Heads up, quarter horse racing world.
- 33:32SPEAKER_08: Two words, two syllables, done ranch.
- 33:35SPEAKER_08: For sales prepping your yearlings and breeding stock, it's Dun Ranch.
- 33:40SPEAKER_08: For world-class levels of mare care, from embryo transfer, ixy cycle management to falling out services, it's Dun Ranch.
- 33:48SPEAKER_08: And then there's the top stallions in the country.
- 33:50SPEAKER_08: They're in Winniwood, Oklahoma, from Grade 1 winning and grade 1 producing sire, a revenant, a political victory, who's the brother to two-time champion A Political Pence, the red hot grade one producing sire Chalitos, the multiple grade one placed in hot pursuit, the graded stakes winning son of one famous eagle Juices Loose, and the Grade 1 producing sire PYC Fun and Fancy, it's Dun Ranch.
- 34:13SPEAKER_08: They're in Winniewood, Oklahoma.
- 34:15SPEAKER_08: Check them out at Dunranch.com.
- 34:18SPEAKER_02: All right, back to the show.
- 34:20SPEAKER_08: Well, let's talk about the expansion of that race.
- 34:23SPEAKER_08: You had mentioned in the future that that you're projecting a derby and an oaks and a and a maturity as well.
- 34:30SPEAKER_08: So during that very first year in 2028, we're talking about just the futurity, is that correct?
- 34:36SPEAKER_08: And then in 29, we're looking at a derby.
- 34:38SPEAKER_08: And then further, further in, I guess in 2030, there'll be well, I guess it'll be a derby and an oaks in 29.
- 34:45SPEAKER_08: Is that correct?
- 34:46SPEAKER_08: That's correct, yes, sir.
- 34:48SPEAKER_08: When once you get past that two-year-old calendar and you fulfill that$2,100 of$700 and$700 and$700, and then you have the payments of$1,000 when it it pertains to going into your three-year-old year, have you guys mapped out and what does that look like?
- 35:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so it it, you know, one of the I think one of the advantages to our race is is as long as you pay that$2,100 nomination, you don't have to pay one entry fee payment to the faturity to be eligible to nominate again as a three-year-old year.
- 35:18SPEAKER_03: And that's different than some of the existing races out out there today.
- 35:21SPEAKER_03: Some some of the existing two-year-old races to be eligible for the three-year-old races, you have to pay in through uh that two-year-old race.
- 35:29SPEAKER_03: We're not going to require that.
- 35:30SPEAKER_03: So let's just say, you know, you have a horse gets a little sore, something needs just a little more time to mature, something like that.
- 35:36SPEAKER_03: You can take that year off as long as you pay that nomination and in January, and then come back in January of 20 of the three-year-old year, and you pay that$700 nomination again.
- 35:47SPEAKER_03: The payments are exactly the same.
- 35:49SPEAKER_03: We haven't set the entry fees yet for those races, but the nomination for each year after the two-year-old year will be January 15th, and the entry fees will be February, March, April, May.
- 35:59SPEAKER_03: That that's how the payment structure is going to be through Derby Oaks all the way to the maturity.
- 36:04SPEAKER_03: As long as you keep paying that annual nomination, Greg, in January, you're eligible to enter in that the next year's championships.
- 36:12SPEAKER_05: This really shows that a there's a long-term commitment from us uh on building something that can continue creating opportunities for the owners, breeders, trainers, and horses that are on the program.
- 36:24SPEAKER_05: So I think this is really exciting because it gives people something to look forward to every year.
- 36:30SPEAKER_05: We're building something, not just invest investing in one race, but you're also becoming part of something that it's designed on growing and evolving.
- 36:39SPEAKER_05: And that's what gives us uh so much confidence uh Fuego's future.
- 36:44SPEAKER_08: So, guys, as it pertains to those four divisions in in the five million dollar purse, really at the end of it, on that championship day, we're talking about actual four four physical races.
- 36:56SPEAKER_08: We're talking about the the two million dollar division of the Inferno flight and the the Calliante flight and the Azul flight and the Ember flight, those are all separate races.
- 37:07SPEAKER_08: So technically there's four uh final races at the on that championship day in two in 2028.
- 37:14SPEAKER_08: Am I correct?
- 37:17SPEAKER_08: That's an amazing day.
- 37:18SPEAKER_08: And if you think about in 2029, when you incorporate the Derby as well as the Oaks, is this expansion going to be a one race on the Derby, or is there going to be four separate races in the Derby division as well as in the Oaks division?
- 37:35SPEAKER_08: Well, you'll have the Inferno, the Caliente, the Azul, and the Ember in the Derby and in the Oaks as well.
- 37:41SPEAKER_08: So theoretically, on that championship day, you're you're talking about 12 championship races.
- 37:47SPEAKER_03: The answer is yes, Greg.
- 37:49SPEAKER_03: We are going to continue to split every one of our championship races into four divisions.
- 37:55SPEAKER_03: And and obviously you can do the math.
- 37:57SPEAKER_03: What we're likely going to do is, you know, break this up over a couple of days.
- 38:01SPEAKER_03: We'll have a we'll have a championship weekend uh in the future.
- 38:04SPEAKER_03: Because by the time that we we have our faturity, our Derby, our Oaks, and our maturity, you know, we have 16 championship races.
- 38:13SPEAKER_03: We project the highest payouts ever paid in these races.
- 38:17SPEAKER_03: And again, I mean the sky's the limit.
- 38:20SPEAKER_03: We're going to be taking a program, you know, and and and and again, I I love the quarter horse industry.
- 38:26SPEAKER_03: Mar Baya loves the quarter horse industry.
- 38:28SPEAKER_03: This is where our passion that we're we're all in.
- 38:31SPEAKER_03: But you know, we've always just kind of sat back and accepted the purses to be what they've been.
- 38:37SPEAKER_03: And everybody wants to, you know, talk about bringing more money, but nobody's found a way to do it.
- 38:41SPEAKER_03: We have sponsorship dollars that people are excited about sponsoring these events, name sponsors, division sponsors.
- 38:48SPEAKER_03: We're gonna bring more money into this sport than anybody's been able to, and we're just so proud of what that means for for every single breeder, every single style owner, and every racehorse owner.
- 38:59SPEAKER_03: I mean, this is going to be when when Marbella mentioned an event, Remington Park and and Fuego, we're we're partnering to create what we're gonna say is the Kentucky Derby of quarter horse racing.
- 39:09SPEAKER_03: This is going to be an elite event.
- 39:11SPEAKER_03: It's good, there's gonna be entertainment everywhere.
- 39:13SPEAKER_03: You know, we're going to try to bring more people into this sport that we're so passionate about.
- 39:19SPEAKER_08: Let's keep digging into the layman's uh viewpoint of how this is all gonna work.
- 39:24SPEAKER_08: So on that we get to their two-year-old season there in Remington Park, and we get to, as you mentioned, it would be towards the Towards the end of the meet.
- 39:34SPEAKER_08: All of the horses that are eligible and that all the horses that are going forth in the Fuego Futurities, it doesn't matter what flight they're in, it doesn't matter where they fit in the category.
- 39:46SPEAKER_08: All of these horses are going to go around the racetrack at the same time.
- 39:49SPEAKER_08: And obviously in the trial races.
- 39:51SPEAKER_08: You're going to have horses in a like trial race number one.
- 39:54SPEAKER_08: You'll have certain horses that are in the inferno category or the caliente flight or in the Ember flight or the Azul flight.
- 40:01SPEAKER_08: They'll all be going in the same race.
- 40:03SPEAKER_08: It you will not be segregating them out or set or separating.
- 40:06SPEAKER_08: They're all going to go down the racetrack.
- 40:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and we we think it adds a lot of excitement, Greg.
- 40:11SPEAKER_03: I mean, number one, this is a sanctioned race by the state of Oklahoma.
- 40:14SPEAKER_03: This will be, you know, it'll be drawn at the Remington Park racing office, just like every other race.
- 40:18SPEAKER_03: The entrance will be piled, they'll draw the entries.
- 40:21SPEAKER_03: There'll be no, there'll be a complete random draw of where those horses fall.
- 40:25SPEAKER_03: So yeah, exactly what you said.
- 40:27SPEAKER_03: But the beautiful thing about that is is when some of these lower divisions are trying to beat up on these top divisions, you know, it's just going to add a lot of additional excitement.
- 40:36SPEAKER_03: And just because you run third or fourth in a trial, you know, you may not.
- 40:40SPEAKER_03: I mean, we're going to pay$8,000 trial purses in 2028.
- 40:44SPEAKER_03: The top three finishers will get payouts, the the remaining finishers will not get payouts.
- 40:49SPEAKER_03: You may qualify may run fourth in the fastest trial of the day and be an Azul or an Ember division horse, and you may be the fastest qualifier for your million dollar security.
- 41:00SPEAKER_03: So, I mean, it's just gonna there's there's a whole new excitement, and and the the doors are just gonna be open.
- 41:06SPEAKER_03: And and yes, I mean, everybody will know it'll be listed on what category each horse is in, so you'll know as they're competing, what level they're at, you know, all of that will be very well advertised.
- 41:16SPEAKER_03: But but that's exactly what we're gonna do, Greg.
- 41:19SPEAKER_08: So, Mariella, earlier you mentioned about the integrity and and and bringing the integrity to this race, including in even in the literature that you guys have produced, talking about how they're extensive screening and as well as testing to make sure that everything's on a as level of playing field that we can possibly have it in, and that's obviously been a hot spot of our industry right at this moment.
- 41:44SPEAKER_08: What is it going to be with as it pertains to the Fuego program?
- 41:48SPEAKER_05: Super important, and I'm glad that you're mentioning this, uh, Greg.
- 41:52SPEAKER_05: Um, so one of the things that I really want to stood out is the finalist burn.
- 41:57SPEAKER_05: That is something that we as partners are really strong about.
- 42:02SPEAKER_05: And um, we really want to show that once the forces qualify for the championship day, all 40 finalists, with no exceptions, will be stable together under fuego supervision.
- 42:16SPEAKER_05: And I think that that is really important statement because it shows the commitment to fairness and integrity on fuego.
- 42:24SPEAKER_05: Every finalist will be treated under the same standards, same environment, and they will be leading up to the biggest race of their lives.
- 42:33SPEAKER_05: So that's really important, important to take care of that.
- 42:36SPEAKER_05: So to me, it's not about making things more difficult, but it's about giving everyone the confidence that this competition will be as fair as possible, and we're gonna do everything that is on our hands to make this really reliable and to people to believe that there's gonna be a lot of things going on around to make this as fair as we as we can.
- 42:59SPEAKER_05: So when someone wins on championship day, we want people talking about the forces challenge and the performance on the track.
- 43:07SPEAKER_05: So, no questioning anything else.
- 43:10SPEAKER_05: And I think that's how you build trust.
- 43:12SPEAKER_05: Um, and that's how you build a program that people will believe in for years to come.
- 43:18SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I mean, look, I I think uh Marbella hit it right on the head.
- 43:22SPEAKER_03: This industry continues to crave a level playing field.
- 43:26SPEAKER_03: That's what we're all looking for, you know.
- 43:28SPEAKER_03: When I think everybody is willing to run second, third, or fourth if they think that it's a level playing field, and then they'll do that.
- 43:35SPEAKER_03: I mean, I've I've heard several people say they would do that with a smile.
- 43:39SPEAKER_03: So, you know, we owe it to the breeders, we owe it to the stallion nominators, and we owe it to the racehorse owners to get to get make the maximum investment we can make to create that environment.
- 43:50SPEAKER_03: And look, um Oklahoma's doing an outstanding job.
- 43:53SPEAKER_03: We we have their support, they're excited about continuing to focus on that.
- 43:57SPEAKER_03: We are making this the top priority of the program.
- 44:00SPEAKER_03: And and because of that, again, this program is going to become something very special.
- 44:04SPEAKER_03: So we're just yeah, it's it and t this is built on integrity.
- 44:08SPEAKER_03: That's what the program's built around.
- 44:11SPEAKER_08: Of course, with the Hispanic influence in the quarter horse racing world, and uh clearly the participation level is desired by Fu as well for for the Hispanic community in the quarter horse racing world.
- 44:25SPEAKER_08: Talked about inclusion of making sure all of them or everything's covered as them welcoming them to into this program as well as to make sure their questions are going to be answered.
- 44:36SPEAKER_08: And if you'd like to speak to them in Spanish, that would be wonderful if you go ahead and just rattle it off.
- 44:42SPEAKER_05: Of course.
- 44:42SPEAKER_05: I love that, Greg.
- 44:43SPEAKER_05: Um, I love that Fuego gives me the opportunity to connect with more Spanish-speaking people.
- 44:50SPEAKER_05: There are so many hardworking Latinos in this industry, they put so much into it, and I want them to feel like this program really belongs to them as well.
- 44:59SPEAKER_05: We have invested so much into this industry, and I think it's important that everyone feels welcome and included.
- 45:06SPEAKER_05: So, in Spanish, I'll say for those Mexicans and for all the community Latina, I want to say that I think profoundly orgos to represent them to Food.
- 45:37SPEAKER_05: This is absolutely disponible in English and in Spanish.
- 45:41SPEAKER_05: So while not doing contact.
- 45:44SPEAKER_05: My meta is to see all the possible for that, they are included and guys, I certainly appreciate you coming on here.
- 45:55SPEAKER_08: This is an exciting announcement.
- 45:57SPEAKER_08: I mean, there's this is obviously something new.
- 46:00SPEAKER_08: It's out of the ordinary, but we have seen all these podcasts.
- 46:05SPEAKER_08: We have seen some of these people, even on the thoroughbred side, talking about how something has to happen in horse racing to turn things around.
- 46:13SPEAKER_08: And it we can't keep doing it in the same way continually and and think if we're gonna get some different result, it's just not going to happen.
- 46:21SPEAKER_08: So you're not gonna have everybody just absolutely jump all over this idea right away.
- 46:26SPEAKER_08: But I think this is an idea that's going to take root for sure.
- 46:29SPEAKER_08: And absolutely, with you guys with having the right people behind it, I think that this is certainly something that you're gonna look to be a huge success in the quarter horse racing world.
- 46:39SPEAKER_08: And obviously it's Diony Search.
- 46:41SPEAKER_08: We wish you guys all the best of luck, and we'll definitely be there reporting on it.
- 46:46SPEAKER_08: And and as we inch closer to the big championship day, uh, you know, certainly we we look forward to having another big giant thing and five million dollars being given away on a weekend.
- 46:57SPEAKER_08: It's just it's just unheard of, and we just can't wait to be there when this actually happens.
- 47:02SPEAKER_05: Really appreciate your words, Greg, and all your support, Stallion ESearch team, and we're really, really excited about this.
- 47:09SPEAKER_05: And um, just have to mention this is just the beginning, and we all bless partners are really excited about the answer that we have from Stallion owners and everyone in social media.
- 47:20SPEAKER_05: So we're look really looking forward into the future and doing as much as we can.
- 47:25SPEAKER_05: This industry has given us so much, and we're just gonna give it back and do our best all the time.
- 47:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and again, thank you for everything you all do.
- 47:34SPEAKER_03: Um, we're you can hear the passion.
- 47:36SPEAKER_03: I mean, I can hear the passion in Marbee's voice.
- 47:38SPEAKER_03: I know I'm extremely excited about this.
- 47:40SPEAKER_03: One last message to the study nominators.
- 47:43SPEAKER_03: Do not wait.
- 47:44SPEAKER_03: If this is something you're interested in, please reach out.
- 47:47SPEAKER_03: The last thing I want to do is have somebody reach out to me in a month or two and say, hey, I want to spot Cole, you know, and I have to tell him the 50 spots are filled.
- 47:56SPEAKER_03: I'm sorry.
- 47:57SPEAKER_03: You know, this is something it's it's the the exclusivity is there for a reason.
- 48:01SPEAKER_03: Do not wait.
- 48:02SPEAKER_03: If you have any questions, anything, reach out.
- 48:05SPEAKER_03: We'd be more than happy to answer them for you, and and we'd love you to be part of something that we think is going to be extremely special.

- 48:13SPEAKER_08: You guys heard it.
- 48:14SPEAKER_08: There you go.
- 48:15SPEAKER_08: Uh, appreciate you both being on here and and look forward to talking to you further down the road here for the Fuego program, and uh good luck.
- 48:24SPEAKER_05: Thank you, Greg.
- 48:25SPEAKER_08: Thank you.
- 48:28SPEAKER_08: October 17th is the AQHA Championship Finals for the Downs at Albuquerque, and also in the news, the 2027 AQHA Challenge Championships will be at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, Texas.
- 48:42SPEAKER_08: So you can either go onto the AQHA website and look at all the challenge information, or you can find it in the challenge section on stallionysearch.com.
- 48:52SPEAKER_10: Let's get back to the podcast.
- 48:54SPEAKER_08: Alright, back and ready to get into the recap section here on Quarter Horse Racing Talk Weekly.
- 48:58SPEAKER_08: Not a whole lot of stakes races from last weekend.
- 49:01SPEAKER_08: But first, let's go out to Wyoming Downs, young Ford Wyoming Downs Derby.
- 49:06SPEAKER_08: $109,000 on the line for three-year-olds going 400 yards.
- 49:11SPEAKER_04: And uh Ferah for the young Ford Wyoming Downs Derby.
- 49:15SPEAKER_04: A sharp start for the favorite in the V there to the inside.
- 49:18SPEAKER_04: Right outside of him is Tassin and turn in cyber courage at the fence, flashing down the far outside his suspicious eyes and spelling B.
- 49:25SPEAKER_04: In the V with 100 to go.
- 49:27SPEAKER_04: In the V all the way!
- 49:30SPEAKER_08: In the V was the winner, three-year-old Gelding out of the Brendittsport Cayenne Mare, Brendy's Secret, read by Dan and Kim Le Pierre, there in Wyoming, and owned by Eddie Jensen, trained by Just Matt, and was ridden to victory by Jacob Cardenes.
- 49:44SPEAKER_08: Now out to Los Alamitas for the Los Alamitas Championship Challenge stakes.
- 49:49SPEAKER_08: A birth to the challenge championships in Albuquerque on the line,$43,000 for 440 yards for three-year-olds and up.
- 49:57SPEAKER_08: And here's the call from Michael Rona.
- 50:00SPEAKER_06: Racing! Bold and Beautiful steps away cleanly with Whiskey West going very fast on her inside, and invasive is not too far off them, and Scoop's Dynasty is chiming in.
- 50:11SPEAKER_06: It's Bold and Beautiful working to the lead, but Scoop's Dynasty represents big danger and invasive in the middle.
- 50:17SPEAKER_06: Scoop's Dynasty laying down the Lord of Bold and Beautiful.
- 50:21SPEAKER_06: Bold and Beautiful kicks and wins.
- 50:23SPEAKER_08: A Philly against the boys getting it done, bold and beautiful.
- 50:26SPEAKER_08: A four-year-old Philly by Freight Train B out of the thoroughbred, sire runaway and hide mare, always dreaming, was bred and is owned by Gentry Farms of Kentucky, trained by Juan Aleman, and ridden to victory by Eguardo Nicasio in a time of 21.727 seconds for the 440 yards.
- 50:44SPEAKER_08: And the next following day at Los Alamitas, they had the Los Al Istaff Challenge stakes,$31,000 of birth into the Adequine Derby Challenge, on the line, 400 yards for three-year-olds and upward.
- 50:56SPEAKER_08: And here's the call from Michael Rona.
- 50:58SPEAKER_06: Racing.
- 50:59SPEAKER_06: CM Jessablue Monday stumbled and is well off the pace.
- 51:04SPEAKER_06: AJ Flawless away beautifully, and so is Ohana Spirit, followed by Jesse's flying cowgirl and naive down the outside running a race.
- 51:13SPEAKER_06: It's Ohana Spirit, AJ Flawless, Racy Favorite.
- 51:16SPEAKER_06: Ohana Spirit beats AJ Flawless.
- 51:19SPEAKER_06: Racy Favorite was third.
- 51:21SPEAKER_08: Ohana Spirit gets it done, a four-year-old Philly, by tempting Dash out of the Trace Ace Mare Heartbeat, was also bred in Kentucky and owned by Gentry Farms, trained by Juan Aleman and ridden to victory by Martina Ariaga in a time of 19.929 seconds for the 400 yards.
- 51:40SPEAKER_08: And as mentioned, the recap section's short and sweet this week, but we'll make up for it in the preview section because there's plenty to talk about about the all-American trials coming up this weekend in Albuquerque, and we'll be right back after these words to do just that.
- 51:54SPEAKER_08: Warning.
- 51:55SPEAKER_08: Warning.
- 51:56SPEAKER_08: Yes, that is your warning.
- 51:58SPEAKER_08: We're only days away from the New Mexico bread sale there in Riodoso on Saturday, August the 15th.
- 52:05SPEAKER_08: Make plans now.
- 52:07SPEAKER_08: This is your warning.
- 52:10SPEAKER_10: Alright, let's get back to the podcast.
- 52:13SPEAKER_08: Alright, we're back here in the preview section here on Court Horse Racing Talk Weekly and ready to jump in.
- 52:19SPEAKER_08: The huge weekend, as we previewed and discussed in the opening, it is the All-American weekend of trials.
- 52:26SPEAKER_08: We have the All-American Futurity, the Derby, and the Oaks trials to go along.
- 52:30SPEAKER_08: Two days of the All-American Faturity trials to discuss.
- 52:34SPEAKER_08: And of course, I got my usual suspect on the phone, Yancey Guyman.
- 52:38SPEAKER_08: Yancey, thanks so much again for being on here and of course giving your expertise.
- 52:43SPEAKER_08: You know, maybe maybe now you'll feel like you, you know, gotta step up your game now that I'm here trying to point out some winners as well.
- 52:51SPEAKER_07: Yeah, it's glad to be here, Greg.
- 52:53SPEAKER_07: I mean, what better week?
- 52:54SPEAKER_07: It's the Super Bowl bar sport to discuss.
- 52:57SPEAKER_07: So it's always fun to discuss the All-American.
- 52:59SPEAKER_08: Well, let's jump right into Friday and we're going to look at uh the the first runner we'd like to point out in Cyber Paint.
- 53:06SPEAKER_07: Yeah, Cyber Paint is in race two.
- 53:08SPEAKER_07: Um this horse has made 67,000 on the year.
- 53:12SPEAKER_07: He's a qualifier to the Rio Doso Faturity.
- 53:14SPEAKER_07: Um he's got top connections of Zach Steinball, Gilberto Lenares, and Cyber Monday's the top up-and-coming sire on the year, so this is one to watch in race two.
- 53:27SPEAKER_08: Moving over to race three, Yancy, the one that jumps out, of course, is Kiss Me in a Flash, winner of the Grade 2 Oklahoma Faturity, Jed Vane trained.
- 53:36SPEAKER_08: Hasn't started since the March 21st Futurity Finals, but he's a perfect two for two going into the All-American Trials here.
- 53:45SPEAKER_08: And that moves us over to race six, another horse to watch, Monday Dynasty.
- 53:50SPEAKER_08: He was second in the kindergarten faturity and comes out of the barn of JJ Gonzalez.
- 53:54SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I love Monday Dynasty.
- 53:56SPEAKER_07: He has four starts, three wins on the year.
- 53:58SPEAKER_07: He's uh he's got a tough competitor in this race, though.
- 54:01SPEAKER_07: PYC Dollars Cowboy, the three horse.
- 54:04SPEAKER_07: He's trained by Marco Flores, and Sergio Becerra will be riding.
- 54:08SPEAKER_07: Uh, this horse ran third in the Remington Park.
- 54:11SPEAKER_07: He also won the easy jet at Remington.
- 54:14SPEAKER_08: And that leads us over to race eight on Friday.
- 54:16SPEAKER_08: And Yancy, one of the horses that you would put in the category of a horse to watch, ask her to fly.
- 54:22SPEAKER_07: Yeah, ask her to fly.
- 54:23SPEAKER_07: I've loved this horse all year.
- 54:25SPEAKER_07: This is the Philly that keeps proving she can run with the boys.
- 54:28SPEAKER_07: She qualified to the Riadosa and the Rainbow.
- 54:32SPEAKER_07: She ran third in the Riadosa Fraturity.
- 54:34SPEAKER_07: Uh, she's super quick away from the gates.
- 54:37SPEAKER_07: Uh Jason Olmstead trains her.
- 54:39SPEAKER_07: Romero Garcia and the Irons, his top rider.
- 54:41SPEAKER_07: So number six, ask her to fly in the eighth.
- 54:44SPEAKER_08: Move on to the next horse.
- 54:46SPEAKER_08: This horse that we're about to talk about, me and Yancey feel strongly that this is probably the top horse going into the All-American Fraternity Trials this year, and that is the$50,000 supplement, Cowboys Flying, winner of the Texas Breeders' Fraturity, as well as the TQHA sale fraturity, with a restricted grade one event.
- 55:05SPEAKER_07: Yeah, he's four for four on the year.
- 55:07SPEAKER_07: I mean, and in the finals of the TQHA, that was a loaded field, and Cowboys Flying made it look easy.
- 55:14SPEAKER_08: I was also able to talk with Nestor Duran on the phone not too long after the finals there for the TQHA Sale Futurity.
- 55:21SPEAKER_08: And he said by far, maybe Cowboys Flying is one of the better two-year-olds that he's actually ever been on.
- 55:27SPEAKER_08: So look forward to this$50,000 supplement to get into the trial races there on Friday, and that's Cowboy Flying in race 14.
- 55:36SPEAKER_08: And that leads us over to Saturday.
- 55:38SPEAKER_07: Yeah, Saturday, day two of the trials.
- 55:41SPEAKER_07: The first horse is in is in the first trial.
- 55:44SPEAKER_07: This is also a supplement horse.
- 55:46SPEAKER_07: DK Benita Jess, number seven.
- 55:48SPEAKER_07: This horse is in the barn of Marco Chavez Guterres.
- 55:51SPEAKER_07: Jesus Ayala will be riding it.
- 55:54SPEAKER_07: Um, this horse won the Sam Houston fraternity, ran second, Louisiana Downs fraternity, has four starts, three wins on the year.
- 56:01SPEAKER_07: So this is another really nice horse that the owners decided they have a chance, they think they have a chance to qualify.
- 56:07SPEAKER_08: Absolutely putting their money where their mouth is.
- 56:09SPEAKER_08: And that leads us over to the fifth race.
- 56:12SPEAKER_08: Just a bad little cat.
- 56:13SPEAKER_08: Winner of the Rainbow Juvenile horses, a perfect three for three out of the barn of David Gomez.
- 56:20SPEAKER_07: And this is another um$50,000 supplement horse.
- 56:23SPEAKER_08: So another one going there.
- 56:25SPEAKER_08: You know, a lot of these horses on this supplemental list, top-notch names, as well as horses, really to watch in this race, Gancy.
- 56:34SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I think a lot of the top runners are supplements.
- 56:37SPEAKER_08: And that leads us over to race six, Lethal Win.
- 56:40SPEAKER_08: Another horse, Yancey, you would mention is a horse to watch.
- 56:43SPEAKER_07: Yeah, this horse ran second in the Riadosa Futurity.
- 56:46SPEAKER_07: And then the connection shows to skip the rainbow.
- 56:49SPEAKER_07: Comes back here in these trials.
- 56:51SPEAKER_07: Um he's fresh.
- 56:52SPEAKER_07: He looked good in his in the Rio Dosa, so I look for Lethal Wynn to be one to watch.
- 56:57SPEAKER_08: Race seven, uh Manny Rodriguez, trainee La Felice Montana, third place Rainbow Futurity finisher by the name of Bluey.
- 57:05SPEAKER_07: Yeah, Bluey, um this is also comes from top connections.
- 57:09SPEAKER_07: I mean, La Felice Montana Ranch over the last couple years has been one of the top owners to outrun.
- 57:14SPEAKER_07: They have their main rider, Lise Martinez, on.
- 57:16SPEAKER_07: This looks to be one of their better two-year-olds this year.
- 57:19SPEAKER_08: Race nine, Heston, out of the tungsten racing organization, and Heston is definitely one to watch.
- 57:26SPEAKER_07: Yeah, Heston was the one, one of the ones.
- 57:28SPEAKER_07: Every year I look for horses that have been running in New Mexico bread and they take the jump and go into the All-American trials.
- 57:35SPEAKER_07: I mean, you see it every year.
- 57:36SPEAKER_07: Usually they end up qualifying to the All-American, and a lot of times they end up winning it.
- 57:40SPEAKER_07: And Heston is one of the main New Mexico breds this year.
- 57:43SPEAKER_07: He's already won the Zia Futurity.
- 57:45SPEAKER_08: Yes, and that leads us over to race nine.
- 57:47SPEAKER_08: Another horse to watch on your list.
- 57:49SPEAKER_08: One fancy cowboy.
- 57:50SPEAKER_07: Yeah, this horse um ran third in the heritage.
- 57:54SPEAKER_07: Um, he's also a$50,000 supplement, and he hasn't ran since the heritage, so makes me think the owners knew they had a good one and they were just saving him for this race.
- 58:04SPEAKER_08: This is the race to put that supplement up there.
- 58:07SPEAKER_08: And the 10th race also has another horse to watch with a fairly significant sibling to talk about, and that's Big Twist.
- 58:14SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I think we all know who that sibling is, world champion political twist.
- 58:19SPEAKER_07: Um, this horse is qualified already to three fraturdies this year.
- 58:23SPEAKER_07: He qualified to the the Zia, the Mountaintop, and the Spring Fraturity.
- 58:27SPEAKER_07: And so this is another really top runner again from the La Felice Montana farm, Luis Martinez.
- 58:33SPEAKER_07: So big twist in the 10th.
- 58:35SPEAKER_08: That leads us over to the 11th.
- 58:37SPEAKER_08: Another big name horse, a supplement,$50,000 supplement, Fall Classic, winner of the Heritage Place Fraturity.
- 58:45SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I mean, I can't blame him for supplementing here.
- 58:48SPEAKER_07: This has been one of my top two-year-olds ever since the schooling races in Remington.
- 58:52SPEAKER_07: I look for him to run big.
- 58:53SPEAKER_07: He's got top connections as well again.
- 58:55SPEAKER_07: So fall classic in the 11th for sure.
- 58:58SPEAKER_08: He's got one of those classic names.
- 59:00SPEAKER_08: Whoever named this horse was thinking ahead.
- 59:03SPEAKER_08: So moving over to race 13, think twice, Perry.
- 59:06SPEAKER_08: Another great runner, JJ Gonzalez trainee.
- 59:09SPEAKER_07: Yeah, this horse runs second in the rainbow.
- 59:12SPEAKER_07: And then I put down the breeding on this horse.
- 59:14SPEAKER_07: Um, Mr.
- 59:14SPEAKER_07: Jess Perry's always super impressive, but the mayor better think twice.
- 59:18SPEAKER_07: Um, I remember this man running in the Los Alan.
- 59:21SPEAKER_07: She was always super tough in stakes races.
- 59:23SPEAKER_07: So I look for this horse to run big for owner Johnny Trotter.
- 59:27SPEAKER_08: And those are the first two days of the trials, the All-American Futurity Trials, a$3 million grade one event going a quarter of a mile.
- 59:34SPEAKER_08: And that leads us over to Sunday where they'll have both the Oaks as well as the Derby trials on Sunday.
- 59:41SPEAKER_08: And we're going to tackle the Derby.
- 59:42SPEAKER_08: And of course, when you get in the three-year-old ranks, you got horses way more accomplished, uh, obviously, than these two-year-olds we just got done talking with.
- 59:50SPEAKER_08: And as much as Yancey and I would love to talk through from race by race, we're going to have to narrow it down a little bit and really just focus on horses to watch.
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_08: And that first horse to talk about falls into the seventh race, which is a very tough race, Yancey.
- 1:00:08SPEAKER_08: Race seven and concludes Jarvis V, the rainbow derby runner-up, the Riadoso Derby runner-up, the third place finisher in the LoSalle winner derby, as well as the LoSalle juvenile winner.
- 1:00:19SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I put the horse of what ifs because he's just always second, second, third, always right there, but he's always super tough, always qualifies.
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_07: The horse he's gonna have to outrun, though, is the six.
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_07: Letho Lobel comes from out of the west, Giles Barn, Noah Garcia, ran third in the All-American Futurity last year.
- 1:00:37SPEAKER_07: So I think he's a one that Jarvis V will have to outrun in the seventh.
- 1:00:41SPEAKER_08: Following the seventh, going into the eighth, another standout runner, effortless favorite, the Heritage Place Futurity winner from last year, the one that dead heated, also won the All-American Juvenile.
- 1:00:53SPEAKER_07: Yeah, he's made 629,000 already, ran fourth in the rainbow this year.
- 1:00:59SPEAKER_07: He's a super tough horse.
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_07: He's one of those, I always put down on him, he's one of those, to me, I call a 440 horse.
- 1:01:05SPEAKER_07: He doesn't always relieve, but he always finishes super strong.
- 1:01:09SPEAKER_08: Moving over to race nine, the supplement from the state of Louisiana, the Louisiana Bred Louisiana man from the barn of Jose Lopez, second in the Laddie, second in the Lee Berwick, and then second in the sales futurity as a two-year-old.
- 1:01:24SPEAKER_08: Also third in the Louisiana million, could cap off a huge two-year-old year.
- 1:01:29SPEAKER_07: Yeah, race nine, I mean, it could be a stakes race by itself, but you already mentioned Louisiana man.
- 1:01:34SPEAKER_07: Another top runner in there, JC Speeding out of the D Keener barn.
- 1:01:38SPEAKER_07: I mean, this horse is Mr.
- 1:01:40SPEAKER_07: Consistent.
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_07: He has 13 starts, seven wins, four seconds and two thirds, so he's never been off the board.
- 1:01:46SPEAKER_07: Uh he ran second in the heritage.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_07: A lot of people might not know or they might know, but he's also half paint, so it's pretty cool to see a paint performing at the top level of our game in these open races.
- 1:01:58SPEAKER_08: Also, in that race, the Zach Steinbo trainees Investor, who was ninth in the All-American fraternity last year, and then of course comes and runs a fourth, a really bang up fourth in the Riadosa Derby.
- 1:02:11SPEAKER_07: Yeah, investor's another one that just continues to show that the ninth race is loaded and could have multiple qualifiers.
- 1:02:18SPEAKER_08: And Yancey, I'm gonna go ahead and call it now the race of the weekend.
- 1:02:22SPEAKER_08: It'll be race 10, the Derby trial of King of the Tide as going up against the political twist.
- 1:02:28SPEAKER_07: Yeah, the two best two-year-olds from last year face off again.
- 1:02:32SPEAKER_07: There's not much that you can't say about this horse.
- 1:02:35SPEAKER_07: He's qualified for four fraternities as a two-year-old, doesn't run for seven months, and comes back and looks like he's the best three-year-old in the game and wins the rainbow, but he's got a he's got his old foe that's beat him, King of the Tide to outrun.
- 1:02:49SPEAKER_08: Yes, one and a half million dollars earned on the racetrack.
- 1:02:52SPEAKER_08: Last time out, disappointing in the Zia Derby trial effort.
- 1:02:57SPEAKER_08: If you look at the chart, it says he didn't get away and he but he did come on late.
- 1:03:01SPEAKER_08: I was able to get on the phone with former world champion Ricky Ramirez, the jockey of King of the Tide, won the All-American Faturity on it to discuss that first out this year as well as the outlook for this upcoming Sunday race against political twist.
- 1:03:17SPEAKER_08: All right, on the phone with jockey, Ricky Romeris.
- 1:03:19SPEAKER_08: Ricky, of course, this is what you've been waiting on.
- 1:03:22SPEAKER_08: Uh, all American Futurity winner wanted to come back and do well on in the All-American Derby.
- 1:03:27SPEAKER_08: Talk about this horse's difference of him in this three-year-old campaign.
- 1:03:31SPEAKER_00: You know what, Greg, uh, we had a little bit of bad luck when we first got to Albuquerque.
- 1:03:35SPEAKER_00: He he uh he kind of got a little fever on us, and so we skipped the mountaintop.
- 1:03:39SPEAKER_00: And then we ran him in the Zia trials, and he he just needed the race.
- 1:03:43SPEAKER_00: I mean, he coming coming off a big layoff.
- 1:03:46SPEAKER_00: But uh he's doing good now, and uh this is our goal, the All-American Derby.
- 1:03:51SPEAKER_00: So hopefully he he performs in these trials and he qualifies and you know go on to the final.
- 1:03:57SPEAKER_08: And that leads us over to race 11 and force, another great stacked race, Yancy, and force the Golden State million winner out of the barn of Chris Odell, ran disappointing in the low style two million as a two-year-old and ran a fifth place finish, excuse me.
- 1:04:14SPEAKER_08: And then, of course, comes to Albuquerque in July and runs a second and allowance.
- 1:04:19SPEAKER_08: I almost would have to say that's a tune-up.
- 1:04:21SPEAKER_07: He's got a really tough horse, he's got to outrun right by him.
- 1:04:24SPEAKER_07: Uh GF, she's sinful, won the Riodoso Derby, elects to go in the Oaks in the rainbow and ran second to Toby Sis.
- 1:04:31SPEAKER_07: But this horse is a rocket ship from the gates.
- 1:04:34SPEAKER_07: When she leaves, she's hard to outrun.
- 1:04:36SPEAKER_08: Yes, and her being a Philly, you know, she had would have the option to go to the All-American Oaks.
- 1:04:41SPEAKER_08: Uh, and a lot of people maybe would sit there and say, well, maybe West Giles thinks so much of Toby Sis, the Rainbow Oaks winner, that he or maybe feels it softer to go after the All-American Derby.
- 1:04:54SPEAKER_08: But as you pointed out in an interview, Yancey, this is this was actually what West Giles seemed to have it all in store.
- 1:05:01SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I remember when you were interviewing him that, you know, he said that I mean, as long as she's healthy, that we'll probably go to the Oaks in the rainbow and then go back to the open for the All-Americans.
- 1:05:12SPEAKER_07: So I think this is they've kind of stuck to their plan and we'll see if it works out for them.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_08: Well, after race 10 and 11, those huge races there, then you have a horse to look at in the 12th.
- 1:05:22SPEAKER_07: Yeah, the 12th number five point blank range um out of the D.
- 1:05:26SPEAKER_07: Keener barn, Roman Cruz.
- 1:05:28SPEAKER_07: Uh he's had four starts, five outs on the year.
- 1:05:31SPEAKER_07: He won the Heritage.
- 1:05:32SPEAKER_07: He didn't really run good in the rainbow, but you throw that race out and he's never run off the board.
- 1:05:38SPEAKER_07: And the one thing I put down for this horse is D.
- 1:05:41SPEAKER_07: Keener in his interview in the Heritage, he said that he thinks this horse is begging to go 440, and that he just can't wait to watch this horse go longer.
- 1:05:50SPEAKER_07: So I think Point Blake Range has a good chance to qualify as well.
- 1:05:55SPEAKER_08: That wraps up the All American Derby, and let's blend into the all American Oaks trial.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_08: And really, you and I both talked ahead of time.
- 1:06:03SPEAKER_08: There's really two horses we'd like to point out.
- 1:06:06SPEAKER_08: The obvious one is coming from race one, Toby Sis, the Rainbow Oaks winner, as mentioned earlier.
- 1:06:11SPEAKER_08: Also the LoSale 2 million winner from last year.
- 1:06:14SPEAKER_08: Raymond Valario is a trainee, a giant in this Philly division, should be definitely by a landslide, the horse to beat going into these trials.
- 1:06:25SPEAKER_07: Not really too much to say, except I think this is the best horse in the Oaks.
- 1:06:29SPEAKER_07: I think they're all gonna have to outrun her if she runs a race.
- 1:06:32SPEAKER_07: And then in race three, number three, Apollo Revenge out of the Jed Vanes barn.
- 1:06:37SPEAKER_07: Uh this is the other half of the Heritage Place winner from last year that dead heated with effortless favorite.
- 1:06:43SPEAKER_07: This horse has made 381,000 already, and I think they're kind of pointing towards this race as well.
- 1:06:50SPEAKER_07: She hasn't ran that much this year, and she's a super tough horse.
- 1:06:53SPEAKER_08: Yeah, second in the easy date stakes.
- 1:06:55SPEAKER_08: Last time out.
- 1:06:56SPEAKER_08: That wraps up Albuquerque's preview, and of course, there's still a lot of trials that's going on this weekend, including the LQHBA sale furity trials out in Louisiana.
- 1:07:06SPEAKER_07: Yeah, there's some top-notch runners running in those trials as well.
- 1:07:09SPEAKER_07: Uh I put down my top three horses.
- 1:07:12SPEAKER_07: Um, actually, they all came out of the Lee Birdwick Fraturity.
- 1:07:15SPEAKER_07: We have the first place, second place, and third place.
- 1:07:18SPEAKER_07: Number one being the top horse in the race is uh KJ Medusa.
- 1:07:23SPEAKER_07: Um this horse, like I said, won the Lee Birdwick Fraturity last time out.
- 1:07:28SPEAKER_07: She also qualified for the Mardi Gras earlier this year.
- 1:07:31SPEAKER_07: Uh Jorge Garcia is on her, and he's having an unbelievable meet in the Louisiana circuit all this year.
- 1:07:37SPEAKER_07: I look for her to be the horse to beat.
- 1:07:40SPEAKER_08: A lot of racing this weekend across the board as well, out there at Rotama Park.
- 1:07:45SPEAKER_08: They also have the TQHA Sire Cup Futurity as well as the TQHA Sire Cup Derby trials happening there, and that's plenty here on the preview section.
- 1:07:56SPEAKER_08: And so good to hear from you again, Yancey.
- 1:07:58SPEAKER_08: And we'll be right back after these words here on Quarter Horse Racing Talk Weekly.
- 1:08:04SPEAKER_08: Hey, this is a personal message from Stalinesearch.com.
- 1:08:08SPEAKER_08: Yes, we're coming out with a brand new Stallion eSearch website, and yes, it's going to be amazing because not only is it going to be a great desktop site, but it's also going to be a great mobile site.
- 1:08:19SPEAKER_08: And yes, there is so many added features to it that I'm going to have to do how-to videos to be able to tell you how many new features are going to be on there.
- 1:08:28SPEAKER_08: So go ahead and go out right now and get those chores out of the way because you'll be stuck on the phone or on the computer going through this new website.
- 1:08:37SPEAKER_08: As it's just literally days away from launch, the new Stallion eSurge website.
- 1:08:43SPEAKER_08: It's coming.
- 1:08:43SPEAKER_08: Free up some time.
- 1:08:45SPEAKER_08: You're gonna need it.
- 1:08:47SPEAKER_08: And before we go here on Quota Horse Racing Talk this week, I'd like to touch upon a sad note as we say goodbye to Hall of Fame jockey Jerry Burgess, who passed away at 82 years of age, Quarter Horse Racing Hall of Fame jockey, as well as a longtime racing steward.
- 1:09:03SPEAKER_08: Jerry, of course, had a distinguished career in the saddle, followed by decades of being a racing official.
- 1:09:09SPEAKER_08: Passed away peacefully at his home in Grand Prairie, Texas, with his family surrounding him.
- 1:09:14SPEAKER_08: And I'd like to say with Jerry, I got to know him because my time at Lone Star Park in the racing office.
- 1:09:20SPEAKER_08: And before that, of course, Jerry had pretty much issued every license I've had in the state of Texas since I've been in racing, and was always gracious with his time, and was one of the great orators, if you've ever got an opportunity to sit around and hear one of his speeches, as he took pride in his ability to command his audience when he was discussing.
- 1:09:39SPEAKER_08: So this is our so long to Jerry Burgess and our condolence to the Burgess family.
- 1:09:44SPEAKER_08: And that's all the time we have for this week here on Quota Horse Racing Talk Weekly, the number one racing podcast in the country.
- 1:09:52SPEAKER_08: And next week, of course, we'll have lots to report as I'm going out to Albuquerque for the All American trials and hopefully grabbing people of interest to get on the podcast and report back to you here on stallionysearch.com.
