- 0:01Speaker 1: In the weeds. So there's a poll in the Athletic
- 0:05Speaker 1: put together by Stephen Nesbit. He's good at this stuff
- 0:08Speaker 1: and it's World Series related. So I'll start at the
- 0:13Speaker 1: top here, which team are you rooting for? If you're
- 0:17Speaker 1: not a fan of Toronto or LA? It was eighty
- 0:22Speaker 1: percent Toronto twenty percent La. To me, that makes sense.
- 0:28Speaker 1: That tracks. I'm not surprised by that number, are you aj.
- 0:31Speaker 2: No, not one bit. Are you kidding me? No? Most
- 0:34Speaker 2: people that are.
- 0:36Speaker 3: They don't like the Dodgers because they think the Dodgers
- 0:38Speaker 3: are ruining baseball because they actually spend money and try
- 0:40Speaker 3: to win. So people are like, oh, I hate the Dodgers.
- 0:42Speaker 3: And everyone likes to root against somebody they usually like
- 0:44Speaker 3: they hate. They usually like to root against the big, bad,
- 0:48Speaker 3: evil team, like the Yankees for years, of the Red
- 0:50Speaker 3: Sox or whoever that is right now, that team is
- 0:52Speaker 3: the Dodger. So they think the Blue Jays are like
- 0:55Speaker 3: the little engine that could.
- 0:56Speaker 2: But look at the Blue Jays payroll.
- 0:58Speaker 3: It's in the Tata I think five, right, So they're
- 1:01Speaker 3: not exactly the little engine. They're actually a big engine
- 1:04Speaker 3: that's finally putting it together. So there's really I mean,
- 1:07Speaker 3: I get it, but man eighty twenty, I thought it'd
- 1:10Speaker 3: be a little bit closer. But I understand. Because of
- 1:13Speaker 3: that exact reason, then the narrative has been, oh, the
- 1:16Speaker 3: Dodgers are ruining baseball. They're the worst team for baseball.
- 1:19Speaker 2: But in reality, they're great for baseball. Just people, I.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Think any team in the top fifteen would be ruining
- 1:26Speaker 1: baseball if they had a run of dominance. Do you
- 1:29Speaker 1: agree with that? Like any team?
- 1:31Speaker 2: Right?
- 1:31Speaker 1: Like, if this was the Blue Jays, nothing would be different.
- 1:34Speaker 1: If the Blue Jays won last year and they had
- 1:36Speaker 1: some other recent World Series appearances, then everyone would hate
- 1:39Speaker 1: them and they'd be like, they're not fair, they spend more,
- 1:43Speaker 1: they're always winning.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Right, Yes, the team that wins everybody hates and more people.
- 1:49Speaker 3: I'll tell you this right now, more people tune in
- 1:50Speaker 3: to watch the great team hopefully lose than actually tune
- 1:54Speaker 3: in to watch hopefully that great team or some team win.
- 1:56Speaker 3: People want to see that big team lose, like whatever
- 1:59Speaker 3: team it is in football, the Chiefs, Right, how many
- 2:02Speaker 3: people root against the Chiefs because they're in the Super
- 2:04Speaker 3: Bowl every year? How many people forever don't root against
- 2:07Speaker 3: the Cowboys in football?
- 2:09Speaker 2: Right?
- 2:09Speaker 3: In hockey, it's any team in Florida because we win
- 2:11Speaker 3: the Stanley Cup in Florida every year.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Right.
- 2:13Speaker 3: In basketball, how many people root against Lebron James because
- 2:16Speaker 3: he's always in the finals and he's but people tune
- 2:19Speaker 3: in and right now, that.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Person is the Dodgers because they're there every year, right.
- 2:24Speaker 1: And they're there every year much less so than the
- 2:27Speaker 1: other sports when they've got their runs from Yeah, MJ, Lebron, Curry, Brady.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Nobody at home. What's weird, though, is nobody really hated MJ.
- 2:36Speaker 2: For some reason. MJ was like the one guy.
- 2:38Speaker 3: I don't know why, but if you look back, like,
- 2:40Speaker 3: did anybody ever really root against MJ?
- 2:44Speaker 1: Yeah, but not like.
- 2:49Speaker 3: But not like some of the other guys for some reason.
- 2:52Speaker 3: It's almost like he got a pass on that for
- 2:53Speaker 3: some reason.
- 2:55Speaker 1: I think Knicks fans, Pistons fans, like, think of some
- 2:58Speaker 1: of the teams in the East that Racers fans heat fans. Right,
- 3:02Speaker 1: A team had some good runs.
- 3:05Speaker 3: No, I agree, it wasn't maybe because before social media, right,
- 3:12Speaker 3: you would, I don't know, do you agree with me? Like,
- 3:14Speaker 3: I feel like Jordan never got like that. M Maybe
- 3:17Speaker 3: it was because of social media.
- 3:20Speaker 4: For for being as big of a winner as he was,
- 3:23Speaker 4: six six world championships. No, he never he never got
- 3:27Speaker 4: that hate. Although you know, did Shack ever get that hate?
- 3:32Speaker 4: Was with Shack ever a guy? Maybe maybe it was
- 3:34Speaker 4: just a different era. Now it's just all about the hate.
- 3:38Speaker 4: I can't stand that when you go to a Super
- 3:39Speaker 4: Bowl party and like your team, like all you Jets fans,
- 3:43Speaker 4: you're out of this, You're out of it by week eight,
- 3:46Speaker 4: and then you go to a Super Bowl party of
- 3:48Speaker 4: like the Eagles versus the Patriots, and you're just you're
- 3:52Speaker 4: just cheering against whichever team does well, and you're like,
- 3:56Speaker 4: that's done, Like just enjoy enjoy the games.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Jets catching strays also week eight? Try like week two, bro.
- 4:04Speaker 3: But anyway, yeah, they're definitely you guys are definitely getting
- 4:09Speaker 3: some knife emojis from Producer Lady.
- 4:11Speaker 4: That was because Producer Lady didn't stay up for the postgame.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Ooh ooh, all right, let me get through more poll answers,
- 4:18Speaker 1: what statement best describes your feeling about the Dodgers. Thirty
- 4:22Speaker 1: four percent say I would rather see them lose. Thirty
- 4:25Speaker 1: two percent say I actively root against them, right, Like,
- 4:29Speaker 1: there's more to it twenty four percent respect them, seven
- 4:33Speaker 1: percent feel mostly neutral about them, and I'm rounding up
- 4:36Speaker 1: or down on numbers based on five or more or
- 4:38Speaker 1: four or less, and four percent actively root for them. Again,
- 4:42Speaker 1: these are non Dodger fans that we're asking, so just
- 4:47Speaker 1: to give you a pulse of the care level of
- 4:50Speaker 1: how much hate there is. For example, here's how I'm
- 4:53Speaker 1: trying to put things in perspective. Aj I think if
- 4:56Speaker 1: we went back to the Yankees dynasty the nineties and
- 5:00Speaker 1: then dipping into the early two thousands, that number would
- 5:03Speaker 1: be much higher towards passionate fans rooting against them.
- 5:11Speaker 2: Yeah. That's because it's because the Yankees.
- 5:13Speaker 3: Now, I will say this, and there was a lot
- 5:15Speaker 3: of people Jeter got a lot of hate, and Clemmens
- 5:18Speaker 3: and some of those guys on that team got a
- 5:20Speaker 3: lot of hate for Alex obviously still you know, But
- 5:23Speaker 3: like I think the difference is is that for if
- 5:27Speaker 3: you watch the Dodgers, who do you hate on the
- 5:29Speaker 3: Dodgers show? A because he's really good, Freddy Freeman because
- 5:32Speaker 3: he's really good, Mookie Betts because he's really good and
- 5:35Speaker 3: just won.
- 5:35Speaker 2: The Clemente Award, Clayton Kershaw. I mean who do you hate?
- 5:39Speaker 3: Y'amamoto, Like you look at this team and you're like, gosh,
- 5:43Speaker 3: it's not easy to hate this team. It's easy to
- 5:45Speaker 3: root against him if you're not a fan, because you
- 5:47Speaker 3: don't want to see him win.
- 5:48Speaker 2: But who do you really hate?
- 5:49Speaker 3: Who can you look at on the Dodgers and say, man,
- 5:52Speaker 3: Max Muncie, Will Smith? Who do you look at and say, man,
- 5:56Speaker 3: I hate? This team is just a bunch of a holes. Now, yeah,
- 6:01Speaker 3: it's like who do I hate?
- 6:03Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 6:03Speaker 3: I don't want him to win because I'm not a fan,
- 6:05Speaker 3: But gosh, it's hard. It's it's really hard to go
- 6:07Speaker 3: to the Dodgers and say they're all smiling. It's like,
- 6:10Speaker 3: I'll throw the Blue Jays in this mix too. Flag Garrera,
- 6:12Speaker 3: every time you see him, he smile and he's laughing.
- 6:14Speaker 3: He's having a good time, right every Kirk is like,
- 6:17Speaker 3: Kirk looks like, you know, the guy you would see
- 6:20Speaker 3: playing slow pitch softball. He hits dingers and catches at
- 6:23Speaker 3: a gold glove quality, Like, how can you hate Alahandra
- 6:25Speaker 3: Kirk at all? Like he looks like just a guy
- 6:28Speaker 3: off the street playing slow pitch sawtballs and he's dominating
- 6:30Speaker 3: the World Series. I don't know how you can look
- 6:32Speaker 3: at either of these teams and say, man, I don't
- 6:34Speaker 3: like him, because the guys are both awesome. Now there's
- 6:36Speaker 3: other teams he say I don't like the way this
- 6:38Speaker 3: guy does this or this guy does that, But these
- 6:39Speaker 3: two teams don't have that.
- 6:42Speaker 4: That's why it's a great series for baseball. And you
- 6:45Speaker 4: haven't even unloaded the fact that it's being watched in like,
- 6:48Speaker 4: like Scott says, being watched in Canada. It's the best
- 6:51Speaker 4: numbers in the US in years. It's being watched in
- 6:54Speaker 4: every household in Japan like it's a it's it's a
- 7:00Speaker 4: great series. And I don't think that that chart that
- 7:03Speaker 4: we just had up there, the twenty four percent respect them.
- 7:07Speaker 4: I bet you have a hard time finding another team
- 7:10Speaker 4: that gets as high of marks. But there's nobody with
- 7:14Speaker 4: any with any baggage. Like the people that have been
- 7:18Speaker 4: with the Dodgers. They've pushed them out the door if
- 7:21Speaker 4: they had baggage, whether they were good or they weren't good,
- 7:25Speaker 4: And so they're left with the guys that they have,
- 7:28Speaker 4: and you can you kind of they make you feel like, man,
- 7:32Speaker 4: I don't want to see them win, but I like
- 7:37Speaker 4: every one of these guys, like they're all good and
- 7:39Speaker 4: I'm I think fans should be the respect factor. But
- 7:42Speaker 4: also like, no, when you see greatness, know when you
- 7:46Speaker 4: don't get to see a lineup that's built like this
- 7:49Speaker 4: and treasure it, watch it, savor it, whatever you want
- 7:54Speaker 4: to do, because this team's gonna be around for a
- 7:57Speaker 4: little while. But you're watching a like seriously, a dynasty.
- 8:02Speaker 4: And normally we see dynasties and we figure it out
- 8:04Speaker 4: at the end of the dynasty, and this is we're
- 8:07Speaker 4: smack dab in the middle of it right now.
- 8:11Speaker 1: This episode of FT is brought to you by HUL Cheers.

- 9:09Speaker 1: checkout survey to help support the show. They fans pulled
- 9:14Speaker 1: here said Otani makes the Dodgers blank likable. So the
- 9:20Speaker 1: options were more or less or no opinion. Sixty two
- 9:24Speaker 1: percent said more likable, twenty percent less, eighteen percent no opinion.
- 9:30Speaker 3: How can you hate? How can you hate Show Hey?
- 9:33Speaker 3: Because he's really good? The only reason you would hate
- 9:36Speaker 3: on Show Hey is because you're jealous of how good
- 9:37Speaker 3: he is. What's the other reason you don't like Show Hey?
- 9:39Speaker 2: O Tani? Somebody please don't me? What is it? I
- 9:42Speaker 2: got one? He trolled Guriel that one time when he
- 9:51Speaker 2: was it Lordie? Or was it Yuli?
- 9:53Speaker 4: Who plays who plays for diamonbacks I'm forgetting and that
- 9:57Speaker 4: made me love him even more, Like whatever whatever Lordies did,
- 10:02Speaker 4: he did the home run, and then he was like
- 10:04Speaker 4: like that after the home run show, Hey hit the
- 10:07Speaker 4: home run to put them ahead, and he clowned on them,
- 10:10Speaker 4: So like that's like, oh my gosh, this guy's also
- 10:13Speaker 4: like a real person too, He's not just a machine.
- 10:17Speaker 6: So okay, if I.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Love Jason, you dislike him because you think that you
- 10:25Speaker 1: had a chance and you're pissed that you did ended
- 10:28Speaker 1: up getting him. If you're an Angels fan, do you
- 10:31Speaker 1: think that they're pissed at all that they lost him
- 10:34Speaker 1: or is that just more everything against their ownership.
- 10:38Speaker 3: They were never gonna resign him because they weren't gonna win.
- 10:41Speaker 3: He wanted to go to a team where he was
- 10:42Speaker 3: gonna win. And they had Trout and they had Otani
- 10:45Speaker 3: and they never even made the play Not only did
- 10:47Speaker 3: they not make the playoffs, they never even sniffed the playoffs,
- 10:51Speaker 3: like their season was over. Like as much as you
- 10:53Speaker 3: guys just clowned on the Jets, the Angel seasons were
- 10:55Speaker 3: over in May, honestly. So, yeah, he wanted to go
- 10:59Speaker 3: to a team where he won. Guess what he did
- 11:00Speaker 3: his first year he won. Guess what he has a
- 11:02Speaker 3: chance to do his second year win? Guess what he
- 11:04Speaker 3: has a chance to do next show the Dodgers win.
- 11:06Speaker 3: He signed a ten year contract. Get used to it,
- 11:08Speaker 3: because even when Betts and Freeman and Munsey and some
- 11:11Speaker 3: of these older guys Kershaw are gone, guess what the
- 11:13Speaker 3: Dodgers are gonna do.
- 11:14Speaker 2: They're gonna try and win.
- 11:18Speaker 1: And Yamamoto who signed.
- 11:20Speaker 3: For a Sazaki and don't forget Blake Snell signed a deal.
- 11:25Speaker 3: Glasnow's there for a few more years. Like, it's not
- 11:27Speaker 3: like they're going anywhere anytime soon. This team will Smith
- 11:31Speaker 3: signed for a long time. This team's gonna be around,
- 11:33Speaker 3: and when they need something, they either trade for it
- 11:36Speaker 3: or they go and sign the guy. And that's what
- 11:37Speaker 3: you want. That's what every team should be looking to do.
- 11:40Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Plus, they have a rule to limit younger players overseas
- 11:45Speaker 1: from signing in the major leagues. That rule led to
- 11:49Speaker 1: rookie Sasaki signing for pebbles with the Dodgers. You're gonna
- 11:54Speaker 1: have to change a lot of rules. Just saying, okay,
- 11:57Speaker 1: we get plenty of people that watch this show that
- 11:59Speaker 1: say we love the Dodgers. There and plenty that say
- 12:00Speaker 1: we hate the Dodgers. I do not give a crap.
- 12:03Speaker 1: We're just covering baseball. But I'm giving you the facts.
- 12:06Speaker 1: I do a prospect show every week, and they're often
- 12:09Speaker 1: leading the charge with guys that are on their way,
- 12:12Speaker 1: and they have disadvantages for the draft right now, and
- 12:15Speaker 1: they're still beating everyone in the race to pick good
- 12:18Speaker 1: players amateur wise and then develop them. So we've got
- 12:22Speaker 1: a long way to go.
- 12:24Speaker 6: And a good.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Morning to Kevin joining us. Now, good morning, kab. Wow
- 12:31Speaker 1: that was fun. Obviously you can hear KB with Big Poppy,
- 12:36Speaker 1: Derek Jeter a Rod pre post covering the World Series.
- 12:39Speaker 1: They're there. It's also on Fox one, which we're presented
- 12:42Speaker 1: by here for the month. So what's the first thing
- 12:46Speaker 1: that comes out of your mouth when someone asks you
- 12:48Speaker 1: about this game?
- 12:50Speaker 6: You know what's up? Boys? First of all, thanks for
- 12:52Speaker 6: having me. Good to be alive and awake and still
- 12:55Speaker 6: trying to figure out what the hell I just witnessed
- 12:57Speaker 6: because I have no idea. I mean, it was crazy.
- 13:00Speaker 6: We're watching it, and you know, our whole thing is
- 13:03Speaker 6: like okay, you know, we're just here and you know,
- 13:05Speaker 6: when we're getting ready to do the postgame show. You know,
- 13:08Speaker 6: you're always kind of like in a holding place somewhere
- 13:10Speaker 6: so you could get on the field quick. So we're
- 13:12Speaker 6: not on the field, we're watching a TV and we're
- 13:15Speaker 6: all saying, Okay, it's going to go to the eighteenth
- 13:17Speaker 6: thinning and months he's gonna win it again, right, I mean,
- 13:19Speaker 6: that's just kind of the way that it felt like
- 13:21Speaker 6: it was tracking, and then of course Freddy wins it.
- 13:24Speaker 6: There were we got to the point where, I don't know,
- 13:26Speaker 6: maybe the seventeeenth inning. I was talking to Derek and
- 13:30Speaker 6: I was like, I don't even remember what happened in
- 13:32Speaker 6: this game, Like there were so many great defensive plays
- 13:34Speaker 6: of things that happened like four hours ago. It was
- 13:37Speaker 6: just it was unbelievable. I mean, I just I can't
- 13:41Speaker 6: of all the things. I just can't get over the
- 13:43Speaker 6: fact that today's starting pitcher was on nine times last night.
- 13:46Speaker 6: It's a freaking joke, it really is.
- 13:50Speaker 3: All right, First of all, grab that grab that thera
- 13:52Speaker 3: gun behind you and using it yourself before you get
- 13:56Speaker 3: ready for tomorrow. And this is the first time I
- 13:58Speaker 3: can honestly say, KB, this is the first time I've
- 14:01Speaker 3: ever seen you with the hat on and your hair
- 14:03Speaker 3: not perfectly done. So I'm I'm just thankful to you
- 14:07Speaker 3: for coming on with us. But what did you guys
- 14:09Speaker 3: do during this time? Because I've been there, I've been
- 14:12Speaker 3: in this situation, I've been through reindelays I've had to
- 14:14Speaker 3: fill and you're just sitting.
- 14:15Speaker 2: There waiting and waiting and waiting.
- 14:17Speaker 3: So did you, guys at any point did you Alex
- 14:20Speaker 3: Jeets or David say, hey, guys, can we just get
- 14:24Speaker 3: a ride back to the Fox Avocado Room so we
- 14:26Speaker 3: can get some sugarfish and enjoy the die instead of
- 14:28Speaker 3: having to hang out here at Dodger Stadium.
- 14:31Speaker 6: Hey, brother, you know how it is, right and like
- 14:33Speaker 6: obviously you did that that monster game, you know with
- 14:36Speaker 6: Seattle in Detroit, But when you're sitting there waiting, it's
- 14:39Speaker 6: like you get to that point. The key thing is
- 14:41Speaker 6: you get to the point where you're like, all right,
- 14:43Speaker 6: are we going to dive back in and go like
- 14:44Speaker 6: full dinner moat again and just eat like a house
- 14:47Speaker 6: right now and crush everything? Or do we just try
- 14:49Speaker 6: to stay diligent and drink like hot tea and water.
- 14:52Speaker 6: It's a very dicey you know. There might have been
- 14:54Speaker 6: some popcorn and sour patch kids that were devoured, Like
- 14:57Speaker 6: you just cross that line and then you know you're
- 14:59Speaker 6: just gonna be up to like five am. That's why
- 15:01Speaker 6: I texted you last that. I was like, hey, dude, like,
- 15:03Speaker 6: I have no idea what time getting up tomorrow. I'll
- 15:05Speaker 6: just text you when I'm up. We'll do the show.
- 15:09Speaker 4: I appreciate it. I appreciate it. What was your favorite moment?
- 15:13Speaker 4: Was it Will Klein's performance? Was it Eric Lower's performance?
- 15:17Speaker 4: Now you look back on it, let's say, wasn't show
- 15:19Speaker 4: Hay's performance. Wasn't the fact that Max threw harder than
- 15:24Speaker 4: he had since like twenty twenty two or something like that.
- 15:28Speaker 2: So what was your favorite? You have to pick one.
- 15:30Speaker 2: We don't.
- 15:30Speaker 4: We don't sit on the fence and say, oh, I'll
- 15:32Speaker 4: take two of them. I'll take two of.
- 15:34Speaker 6: My favorite one favorite, you know, Cratzy. I mean, I
- 15:37Speaker 6: think it's like the Curse show moment was pretty special.
- 15:41Speaker 6: It really was. I mean you just you know, it's
- 15:44Speaker 6: funny because you know, Dodgers put him on the roster
- 15:46Speaker 6: and we're all like, how are they going to use
- 15:47Speaker 6: him here? Like what are they going to do? You know,
- 15:49Speaker 6: he had that kind of awkward outing, you know, out
- 15:51Speaker 6: of the bullpen against Philly, and you know you just
- 15:55Speaker 6: wanted to go out the right way. You know, he's
- 15:56Speaker 6: one of the best players ever to do it. And
- 15:59Speaker 6: he comes into that that spot and you're like, holy cow,
- 16:01Speaker 6: and I'm watching with the guys and it's basic low.
- 16:04Speaker 6: You know, it's not a soft landing spot, you know
- 16:06Speaker 6: for a guy who I know he's done it before,
- 16:08Speaker 6: but not used to coming out of the pen. It's like,
- 16:10Speaker 6: here's basis loaded go face a guy who's a pretty
- 16:13Speaker 6: good hitter. And it was nerve wracking watching that. I
- 16:18Speaker 6: just thought it was so awesome. If that's the last
- 16:20Speaker 6: time he's on the mound to get a key spot
- 16:22Speaker 6: in the twelfth inning of an epic game. To me,
- 16:25Speaker 6: if I'm picking a moment, that's.
- 16:27Speaker 1: It, right, that might have been the goodbye. I mean,
- 16:31Speaker 1: aj will say, hey, they might need him. You don't
- 16:34Speaker 1: know how this series is gonna.
- 16:35Speaker 2: Twist and turn right.
- 16:39Speaker 1: So my question is you're watching, you're telling us your perspective.
- 16:42Speaker 1: Are you sitting there the whole time and watching with Poppy,
- 16:45Speaker 1: Jeter and a Rod And if so, what were they
- 16:47Speaker 1: saying or was there one standout line, even if it
- 16:50Speaker 1: was just you know, a big poppy random joke. We
- 16:52Speaker 1: know how he's got one.
- 16:54Speaker 6: Line for days, he's got he's got one liner. No,
- 16:58Speaker 6: we're all we're all watching it together and you know,
- 17:01Speaker 6: we're just it's fun. The cool thing for me and
- 17:05Speaker 6: Scott you know this, right, Like when you're around these
- 17:08Speaker 6: great players and you know you're just sitting there and
- 17:11Speaker 6: talking bowl and watching with them is like the coolest thing.
- 17:14Speaker 6: You know, It's like watching with your friends, but elevated,
- 17:17Speaker 6: you know. So I was just sitting there being the
- 17:19Speaker 6: nerves like, all right, what would you do here? What
- 17:20Speaker 6: would you do here? Who do you like here? That
- 17:22Speaker 6: type of thing, you know, And part of it's just
- 17:25Speaker 6: fun watching the game, and part of it's picking their
- 17:26Speaker 6: brains to see what we talk about on the postgame show.
- 17:28Speaker 6: So it was cool. You know, Poppy had his moments
- 17:32Speaker 6: just making people laugh, you know, and maybe made a
- 17:34Speaker 6: couple of phone calls in between. You know, it's just
- 17:37Speaker 6: you never know what you get there with David, who's
- 17:39Speaker 6: the best. So yeah, we were all fully engaged and
- 17:43Speaker 6: amazingly get done. You still sit in La Dodger traffic
- 17:46Speaker 6: when when you're out so like, that's that's all part
- 17:48Speaker 6: of the experience.
- 17:50Speaker 4: That was gonna be my question at the end. There
- 17:52Speaker 4: had to be no traffic, but you already answered it.
- 17:54Speaker 4: So what about watching plenty of traffic? Man, go ahead,
- 18:00Speaker 4: I didn't hear your cratzy circle ahead. Oh no, no,
- 18:02Speaker 4: I was just gonna say when you guys were watching,
- 18:04Speaker 4: and Dave Roberts went on and he said, I think
- 18:06Speaker 4: he was talking to Ducci and he goes, yeah, we're
- 18:09Speaker 4: gonna go with Will Klein and then after that we're
- 18:11Speaker 4: gonna go position player.
- 18:13Speaker 2: What are the three players on your panel? What was
- 18:15Speaker 2: their reaction?
- 18:16Speaker 4: Because I know what my reaction was, but I want
- 18:18Speaker 4: to hear what the good player's reaction was.
- 18:20Speaker 6: Poppy said, let's bring back the home run derby from
- 18:22Speaker 6: the All Star Game. With that happened, and I think
- 18:26Speaker 6: we all were thinking the same thing. It's funny, right, Like,
- 18:29Speaker 6: you know, sometimes you go through those games and you know,
- 18:31Speaker 6: and there were some lulls obviously in extra innings, and
- 18:34Speaker 6: do you are like, you know, I know people don't
- 18:36Speaker 6: like it. They want to have the sanctity of the
- 18:38Speaker 6: extra innings, but they you know, there is something to
- 18:40Speaker 6: play in a regular season one way and then changing
- 18:43Speaker 6: and not having a second base runner. But I get it.
- 18:45Speaker 6: I understand why you don't do it. But you know,
- 18:49Speaker 6: I think the the other story is Toronto. You know,
- 18:51Speaker 6: they made all these movies earlier in the game, and
- 18:53Speaker 6: I can't blame them for any of them. They're trying
- 18:54Speaker 6: to pinch run, pinch it, trying to win the game,
- 18:57Speaker 6: but they just had no chance to score. I mean,
- 18:59Speaker 6: they just didn't. It was basically you felt like, at
- 19:01Speaker 6: least from us, like Lad's either going to hit a
- 19:04Speaker 6: home run or they're not going to score. You know,
- 19:05Speaker 6: Springer gets hurt, Kirk who's hitting everything, gets taken out
- 19:08Speaker 6: for pinch run, or they take out Bardoe a long
- 19:10Speaker 6: time ago, and it just felt like you needed a miracle.
- 19:13Speaker 6: And I also didn't, you know, I was also wondering
- 19:15Speaker 6: if anyone was going to be able to get a
- 19:16Speaker 6: ball out of there, you know, with the marine layer
- 19:19Speaker 6: kind of coming in. It was that kind of night.
- 19:21Speaker 6: And you know, obviously will Smith thought he got it.
- 19:24Speaker 6: He bat flipped, and then I thought the Oscars was
- 19:26Speaker 6: going to go too. So I was just impressed if
- 19:29Speaker 6: Freddy was able to droll on the center field and
- 19:31Speaker 6: actually get it out of there last.
- 19:33Speaker 3: Night, KB, you got to interview Show Hey, so and
- 19:39Speaker 3: not only that, Show Hey did an interview post game
- 19:43Speaker 3: last night, I think with Ken, which I also I
- 19:45Speaker 3: don't know if I've ever seen before. So, what, how
- 19:48Speaker 3: do you think he'll beat tonight? Because he was on
- 19:50Speaker 3: base nine times last night? Right, how do you think
- 19:53Speaker 3: he'll be today? And what was it like getting to
- 19:54Speaker 3: be one of the few guys that's ever got to
- 19:57Speaker 3: sit down with Show Hey on Tani and talk to
- 19:59Speaker 3: him one on one?
- 20:00Speaker 6: Yeah, Age, I it was awesome.
- 20:02Speaker 2: You know.
- 20:03Speaker 6: I was lucky enough to do it with him last
- 20:04Speaker 6: year too, so it was cool that he wanted to
- 20:06Speaker 6: do it again. And you know, as you know, he
- 20:08Speaker 6: doesn't do those right, So I think it was just
- 20:11Speaker 6: cool that a he agreed to do it, it felt
- 20:13Speaker 6: comfortable to do it. And I think two things. First
- 20:16Speaker 6: of all, you know, I just think it's cool to
- 20:18Speaker 6: see some personality from him, because he's, you know, he's
- 20:20Speaker 6: such a mystery to people who want to like dive
- 20:22Speaker 6: into his life a little bit. And I think he's
- 20:25Speaker 6: just gotten so much more comfortable. He admitted that in
- 20:28Speaker 6: our interview, like he's just he feels so much more
- 20:29Speaker 6: comfortable this time, just kind of wanted to be one
- 20:32Speaker 6: of the team last time. And I think you're seeing
- 20:34Speaker 6: that obviously in his performance. You know, when I talked
- 20:37Speaker 6: to him last week, it was hilarious. I asked him
- 20:39Speaker 6: if that Game four of the NLCS was his best game,
- 20:42Speaker 6: and he said, eh, He's like, I'm just disappointed I
- 20:45Speaker 6: didn't piss through the seventh inning. I'm like, disappointed, what
- 20:49Speaker 6: you threw a two hitter and hit three home runs. Man.
- 20:52Speaker 6: So I think tonight, to answer the second party of
- 20:55Speaker 6: your question, I think he's going to kill it. I
- 20:57Speaker 6: really do. I just I just think this is his
- 20:59Speaker 6: world right now, roll living in it. I think he's
- 21:01Speaker 6: totally engaged. You know, he does a postgame interview last night,
- 21:05Speaker 6: and then he's in the clubhouse and he's, you know,
- 21:07Speaker 6: Dave's giving a speech and he's kind of rocking and
- 21:09Speaker 6: you know, giving you delivery and laughing like he's I
- 21:11Speaker 6: I just think there is nothing that can stop him
- 21:14Speaker 6: right now. And as good as Toronto's offense is, I
- 21:16Speaker 6: think they're gonna miss Springer a lot. And I think
- 21:18Speaker 6: Showhy is going to just be awesome. That's my gut.
- 21:22Speaker 4: Are they gonna even throw the show, hey, because there
- 21:24Speaker 4: was a Hall of Future Hall of Famer on deck
- 21:26Speaker 4: behind him. Has there ever been a future Hall of
- 21:29Speaker 4: Famer that's been somebody's intentionally woped in front of him
- 21:33Speaker 4: to get to Mookie Bets.
- 21:37Speaker 6: I think at some point what's gonna happen is Mookie
- 21:41Speaker 6: is going to deliver. I mean, Mooki's just too good
- 21:43Speaker 6: of a player, and he's been in a little bit
- 21:44Speaker 6: of a run. I can't blame John Schneider for not
- 21:46Speaker 6: pitching to the guy. I don't blame I mean, you know,
- 21:49Speaker 6: obviously he broke all kinds of records last night, but
- 21:51Speaker 6: it's wild. In a postseason game and a do or
- 21:53Speaker 6: die in extra innings, you're putting a guy on base.
- 21:56Speaker 6: It's like it's unheard of. And I think they're going
- 21:59Speaker 6: to keep doing that today. But at some point, Mookie's
- 22:01Speaker 6: gonna make him pay. He's just too good, and I
- 22:03Speaker 6: know he has been in a little bit of a rough,
- 22:05Speaker 6: but I think that's I could see that happening all
- 22:08Speaker 6: day long tonight.
- 22:12Speaker 2: Kby, I got, I got.
- 22:14Speaker 3: Here's my thing. You're a Mets fan. You grew up
- 22:17Speaker 3: a Mets fan, used to work for the Mets. What's
- 22:19Speaker 3: it like being a Mets fan having to watch the
- 22:21Speaker 3: Dodgers and the Mets not even being around and listen
- 22:25Speaker 3: as a White Sox fan. Listen, you're a lot better
- 22:27Speaker 3: off as a Mets fan. But what's it like? I
- 22:29Speaker 3: know you try to be impartial, but is there a
- 22:32Speaker 3: little bit of you is like, Man, the Dodgers are
- 22:33Speaker 3: what the Mets could be if they did it right.
- 22:37Speaker 6: Oh right, listen, at least you have the Pope, aj Like,
- 22:39Speaker 6: at least you got.
- 22:40Speaker 3: At least the Pope knows who I am, KB the Pope.
- 22:45Speaker 6: The Pope knows who you are. The you know, being
- 22:48Speaker 6: a Mets fan. You grew up, you grew up a
- 22:50Speaker 6: Mets fan, and like you're just kind of it is
- 22:52Speaker 6: what it is, right, So we've got eighty six, which
- 22:56Speaker 6: is one of the greatest of all time. I was
- 22:58Speaker 6: fortunate enough to work with those guys and become friends
- 23:01Speaker 6: with a lot of those guys on that team, obviously
- 23:03Speaker 6: with Ronnie Darley and Keith Hernandez for a long time,
- 23:05Speaker 6: and that was a highlight for me. Still good friends.
- 23:08Speaker 6: But I think the reality is Mets fans just can't
- 23:11Speaker 6: have nice things. And I learned that at at an
- 23:14Speaker 6: early age, and I think that's just part of the deal,
- 23:16Speaker 6: you know, And that really goes all the way back
- 23:18Speaker 6: to speaking of the Dodgers nineteen eighty eight, because that
- 23:22Speaker 6: was supposed to be the Mets year. They were great
- 23:24Speaker 6: that year, you know, after the after eighty seven losing,
- 23:27Speaker 6: like okay, we all felt like this is they're going
- 23:29Speaker 6: to win it again. They were obviously a great team.
- 23:32Speaker 6: And then Sosha hits the home run off Doc goodin
- 23:34Speaker 6: and like that was the end. And it really, for
- 23:37Speaker 6: the most part, has been the end, you know, up
- 23:38Speaker 6: until the fifteen World Series when Matt Harvey is throwing
- 23:41Speaker 6: a gem gets left in and I loved him staying
- 23:45Speaker 6: in that game, and then obviously the Royals get him,
- 23:47Speaker 6: so I ajy, we just can't have nice things. And
- 23:50Speaker 6: at least you do have the Pope. So you've got
- 23:52Speaker 6: the Pope and you've got Frank Thomas, so you know
- 23:56Speaker 6: you got.
- 23:57Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly. We have to to people that you can
- 24:00Speaker 3: come but here. Okay, now my next question is this
- 24:03Speaker 3: people that don't know this. Behind the scenes, Yes, we
- 24:05Speaker 3: have ear pieces in and there's a guy in your
- 24:07Speaker 3: ear and his name is Bartia that works that is
- 24:10Speaker 3: in your ear?
- 24:11Speaker 2: Okay for the pre game.
- 24:12Speaker 3: Have you ever wanted to just go and tell Bartia
- 24:14Speaker 3: to shut the hell up in your ear? Because I've
- 24:16Speaker 3: been there with Bartia and I know he's in your
- 24:19Speaker 3: ear and he's.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Like, KP, you did just say this? KP, try this say.
- 24:22Speaker 3: This, and you're like, dude, I got this Partia, Can
- 24:24Speaker 3: you just stop? Have you ever wanted to hit the
- 24:26Speaker 3: talk back and be like, Bartia, shut the hell up?
- 24:29Speaker 6: I So I love Bartia, well, we all love Bartia,
- 24:33Speaker 6: but he learned long ago to stop talking to me
- 24:37Speaker 6: during the show because yeah, I just I just the beauty.
- 24:44Speaker 6: So the beauty the fun of these shows, AJ you know,
- 24:46Speaker 6: we've worked together, right, like you know, like my personality,
- 24:49Speaker 6: the beauty of the great thing about all the people
- 24:51Speaker 6: that make us so good is that they let us
- 24:53Speaker 6: just roll right and like we're just we're just doing
- 24:57Speaker 6: the show, like we are watching the game. It's just
- 24:59Speaker 6: cameras on. I think at least that's what we're trying
- 25:01Speaker 6: to do, right And truly, I can tell you this,
- 25:04Speaker 6: Like obviously the pregame you go through and there are
- 25:06Speaker 6: things that are scripted and things that are planned. The
- 25:08Speaker 6: postgame is like completely off the cuff, Like we go
- 25:11Speaker 6: in and we talk about, Hey, let's talk about X,
- 25:13Speaker 6: Y and Z. But I can honestly tell you, when
- 25:16Speaker 6: we get ten minutes in the post game, I have
- 25:17Speaker 6: no idea where we're going in the next five minutes.
- 25:19Speaker 6: So I think that's what makes it fun. And yeah,
- 25:22Speaker 6: Barti is just got he's got to leave me alone.
- 25:24Speaker 6: I think, you know, you know.
- 25:26Speaker 3: I wish, I wish Barti would leave me alone even
- 25:28Speaker 3: when I see him sometimes, but he can't.
- 25:29Speaker 2: So it's fine. It's fine. I love Bartia.
- 25:32Speaker 6: No I missed somebody, you know, don't We don't get
- 25:34Speaker 6: to work together anybody.
- 25:35Speaker 3: And a big time that's my next question. You're so
- 25:38Speaker 3: big time. I never get to see you. I never
- 25:40Speaker 3: get to work. Used to call games with me, you know,
- 25:42Speaker 3: with the B team on Saturday. Now you're calling super Bowls.
- 25:45Speaker 3: So which one is it? Is it a super Bowl
- 25:48Speaker 3: or is it a World Series eighteen?
- 25:49Speaker 2: And in game? Which one means.
- 25:50Speaker 3: More to to Kevin Burkhart.
- 25:52Speaker 2: When he's on the when he's on the call or
- 25:54Speaker 2: he's on the pre opposent, like, which one is it
- 25:57Speaker 2: for you? K Because you.
- 25:58Speaker 3: Called the Super Bowl and now you've eighteen Any World
- 26:01Speaker 3: Series games is pre imposed? Which would you rather do?
- 26:03Speaker 6: Don't do that to me, aj Man.
- 26:05Speaker 3: Come on, well, Joe listen. Joe Buck used to always
- 26:08Speaker 3: say baseball, So I mean, I don't know. Everyone has
- 26:12Speaker 3: different feelings.
- 26:13Speaker 6: Listen, I would say this. I obviously love both sports.
- 26:16Speaker 6: I have my entire life. You know, I've loved both
- 26:19Speaker 6: sports my filily. If you're going to put make me
- 26:25Speaker 6: pick one. It's hard for me to not pick the
- 26:27Speaker 6: super Bowl because I'm calling it and it's just so special.
- 26:30Speaker 6: There's been you know, eleven people on Earth who have
- 26:33Speaker 6: gotten a chance to call those games. Does that mean
- 26:35Speaker 6: that I don't love being at the World Series and
- 26:37Speaker 6: don't take every single second and enjoy it and know
- 26:39Speaker 6: how lucky I am.
- 26:40Speaker 2: It doesn't.
- 26:41Speaker 6: So I'll give the answer to your question. But I
- 26:43Speaker 6: love doing both. So there you go.
- 26:46Speaker 4: I have to make you pick. I have to make
- 26:48Speaker 4: your pick. No, who would you rather work with? Tom
- 26:54Speaker 4: Brady or aj Prazinski? But you have to work with them?
- 26:59Speaker 2: And Fox A Fox is.
- 27:02Speaker 4: A new stipulation. They have to be your roommate. You
- 27:05Speaker 4: guys get too queen beds.
- 27:07Speaker 2: In the room.
- 27:09Speaker 6: You had me. My answer was aj until that that's
- 27:12Speaker 6: that's over. Now I have roommates, come on, we got
- 27:16Speaker 6: sharing rooth is one thing.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Roommates KB, I only have I am only me Tom.
- 27:21Speaker 3: You know, you know Brady has like those those guys
- 27:24Speaker 3: that are with him twenty four to seven.
- 27:26Speaker 2: I don't have a posse like.
- 27:27Speaker 3: I don't have the hangers I mean the guys, the
- 27:30Speaker 3: hangers on guys that do everything for Tom.
- 27:32Speaker 2: It's just me. So like when I had to go
- 27:34Speaker 2: to the bathroom, KB, it would just be me. It
- 27:36Speaker 2: wouldn't be me and three other guys.
- 27:38Speaker 3: And Tom's great, but I don't have the people that
- 27:40Speaker 3: Tom hasn't understandable.
- 27:42Speaker 6: Well, I love Tom obviously, we become really close and
- 27:45Speaker 6: I think his his condo might be a little bigger
- 27:48Speaker 6: than yours. So I'm gonna stick with tvage.
- 27:52Speaker 2: You have a lot of baggage, which which Penthouse, which
- 27:58Speaker 2: Penouse's staying.
- 27:59Speaker 1: In well Kbank, Thanks for waking up for us and
- 28:04Speaker 1: this was great. It was awesome to have you on
- 28:06Speaker 1: and of course everyone can catch you for the rest
- 28:09Speaker 1: of the series however long it goes with Poppy and
- 28:11Speaker 1: a Rod and Jeter on pre and post. So thanks
- 28:14Speaker 1: for stopping by. Dude. Great to see you.
- 28:16Speaker 6: Great to see you guys. You guys a rock. Enjoy
- 28:18Speaker 6: the show always, I'll see y.
- 28:20Speaker 1: It's ft presented by Fox. Want a old shout out
- 28:22Speaker 1: again thanks to Fox for sponsoring us. But I'm not
- 28:25Speaker 1: just saying that for supporting the show, but also we're
- 28:29Speaker 1: lining up a lot of cool guests this week that
- 28:32Speaker 1: are part of the Fox fam we'll work on. I
- 28:35Speaker 1: think Joe Davis.
- 28:37Speaker 2: Love I love KB by the way.
- 28:39Speaker 1: He's yeah, he's really good.
- 28:41Speaker 3: He's one of my favorite people just to talk to
- 28:43Speaker 3: and sit down and we've spent many an hour together
- 28:45Speaker 3: in the Avocado room and Fox lot and just talking
- 28:48Speaker 3: and he's all he's so fun, he gets it. He
- 28:52Speaker 3: just he has a great time, and he does an
- 28:53Speaker 3: awesome job on that desk. I have to give him credit.
- 28:56Speaker 3: So yeah, I mean, thank you, thank you Kevin for
- 28:58Speaker 3: coming on and and and awesome.
- 29:00Speaker 1: Always he's doing the biggest, you know, baseball coverage on
- 29:04Speaker 1: studio and then he's doing the biggest NFL coverage on
- 29:07Speaker 1: play by play. As somebody who has done both for
- 29:11Speaker 1: many years, it is hard to find someone who is
- 29:14Speaker 1: like a plus plus at both because they're actually very different.
- 29:17Speaker 1: Positions where you're really good at the mechanics of calling
- 29:20Speaker 1: a game and doing everything that entails plus with other sports,
- 29:24Speaker 1: and then being like a great personality and point guard. Right,
- 29:28Speaker 1: there's some guys you can't get in the way too
- 29:30Speaker 1: much because you got to let the rest of the
- 29:32Speaker 1: desk take over. So I think all that's really cool.
- 29:35Speaker 1: And yes, Joe Davis from the Fox broadcast joining us tomorrow.
- 29:38Speaker 1: Ken Rosenthal is joining us tomorrow, so we've got a
- 29:41Speaker 1: big Fox day tomorrow. We'll see if Ken.
