- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome back to college football addiction, Texas in Tennessee, the
- 0:04Speaker 1: number one team in the country walks into Neyland stadium
- 0:06Speaker 1: this Saturday, and we're going to talk about it for
- 0:08Speaker 1: a few minutes today. The show is presented by price picks.
- 0:11Speaker 1: All new users there play a $ 5 lineup and win
- 0:14Speaker 1: using code HMA, get $ 150 in lineups instantly. Jerry talked
- 0:19Speaker 1: about this team before the Ohio state game, a tale
- 0:21Speaker 1: of two halves there. And I really felt like not
- 0:24Speaker 1: to go so far back into that game. but I
- 0:27Speaker 1: didn't even think Texas, they were obviously just giving it away,
- 0:30Speaker 1: but from a down to down basis, like minus the
- 0:32Speaker 1: massive swings of turnovers and fourth down, you know, failures,
- 0:36Speaker 1: I didn't think Texas was playing super poorly outside of
- 0:40Speaker 1: just like the massive, massive failures, I guess, or unlucky
- 0:45Speaker 1: things that happened. Ohio state wasn't doing anything to like
- 0:48Speaker 1: run away with that game. Texas was just kind of
- 0:49Speaker 1: giving it to them. And then in the second half
- 0:51Speaker 1: thing settled in break started not going against Texas and
- 0:54Speaker 1: And I think the better team won. But, boy, they
- 0:58Speaker 1: certainly took the hard road to get there.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Yeah, they did. And you can look back on that
- 1:04Speaker 2: game now, and both fan bases can say, Texas can say, oh,
- 1:09Speaker 2: if we hit the two touchdowns in the first half,
- 1:12Speaker 2: Cam Coleman stumbled and dropped. Ryan Wingo drops a wide-open touchdown.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Texas fans say, oh, we'd have won that game by 14.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Flip side is Ohio State fans say, well, hold on.
- 1:24Speaker 2: There's another side to that argument. Ryan Day didn't take
- 1:28Speaker 2: the points nearing the end of the first half, which
- 1:30Speaker 2: ended up being the difference in the game, by the way,
- 1:32Speaker 2: when he went for that fourth down. And Julian Sand
- 1:35Speaker 2: missed a walk-in touchdown throw in the third quarter that
- 1:38Speaker 2: would have ended that game. Oh, and by the way,
- 1:41Speaker 2: Ohio State missed a 44-yard field goal that probably would
- 1:43Speaker 2: have ended that game. So both, like, if you're the
- 1:47Speaker 2: Ohio State fans, you say, we gave that thing away, right?
- 1:49Speaker 2: And if you're the Texas fans, you say, we could
- 1:51Speaker 2: have won it by 14. That's the great thing about it.
- 1:53Speaker 2: There's a good, decent chance these two teams are going
- 1:55Speaker 2: to meet again in the college football playoffs, is my guess.
- 1:58Speaker 2: And it's going to be a whale of a game.
- 2:00Speaker 2: And then the Vegas world would tell you, what did
- 2:03Speaker 2: Texas win by one? What's home field worth three? So
- 2:06Speaker 2: Ohio State was two points better. Yeah. Neutral side. So
- 2:10Speaker 2: that game had a little bit of everything, but the
- 2:12Speaker 2: swings and momentum were amazing. By the way, I think
- 2:15Speaker 2: we're going to have some momentum swings coming up Saturday,
- 2:17Speaker 2: but in a different type of game.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure. I will say, I was impressed. We
- 2:23Speaker 1: haven't talked about this yet since. I thought Steve Sarkeesian
- 2:26Speaker 1: had the quote of the year when he was asked, um, about,
- 2:30Speaker 1: you know, Hey, did you think about just punting it there?
- 2:32Speaker 1: So you didn't lose by as much. And he, he
- 2:34Speaker 1: flat out said, no, that's how losers think. It was like,
- 2:37Speaker 1: I love that, man. Like this is, yeah, this is football.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Like if you lose by 20 or you lose by 27, you,
- 2:42Speaker 1: you got blown out on the, or at home, like
- 2:44Speaker 1: who cares, man, like go for the game and go
- 2:46Speaker 1: win it. Um, and so I thought it was, yeah,
- 2:49Speaker 1: Texas was half unlucky, half shooting themselves in the foot, but, um,
- 2:55Speaker 1: you know, at the same time, they still responded. Like
- 2:58Speaker 1: they still went out and made the plays. And yeah, Ohio,
- 3:00Speaker 1: you know, say and missed Smith a couple of times
- 3:02Speaker 1: on passes that would have probably ended. Like there were
- 3:05Speaker 1: plays that, that went Texas way, but they responded. And
- 3:08Speaker 1: that's all you can ask for.
- 3:09Speaker 2: And the way they won the game was how Texas
- 3:12Speaker 2: fans have wanted to see Steve Sarkeesian win a game
- 3:15Speaker 2: on the goal line, running a football in against the
- 3:18Speaker 2: powerhouse opponent. Right. It took three chances. Who cares if
- 3:21Speaker 2: it take four, The offensive line, downhill running, goal line,
- 3:25Speaker 2: jumbo package, not going to play action, being able to
- 3:30Speaker 2: run the football to win the game. But the way
- 3:32Speaker 2: that game ended, 15-play drive, 13-play drive, 12-play drive. That's
- 3:37Speaker 2: not how Texas has traditionally won games under Steve Sarkeesian.
- 3:42Speaker 2: So the fan base really liked how Texas won that
- 3:46Speaker 2: football game. Not the way it went leading up to
- 3:48Speaker 2: that point, but how they actually came back and won
- 3:51Speaker 2: that football game.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Yeah. This weekend in Knoxville, we talked about Vegas for
- 3:55Speaker 1: just a second, but Vegas would tell you, they don't
- 3:57Speaker 1: expect the number one team in the country to just
- 3:59Speaker 1: go roll over these volunteers. And I know that Tennessee
- 4:01Speaker 1: is somewhat unproven, but I will tell you, I was
- 4:04Speaker 1: super impressed with phase on Brandon, the way he looked. Um,
- 4:07Speaker 1: I mean, trailing after one quarter on the road in Atlanta,
- 4:10Speaker 1: I don't think Georgia tech's a great team, right? He's
- 4:12Speaker 1: still a true freshman on the road in a pack stadium.
- 4:15Speaker 1: I think he's been really impressive. I know that him
- 4:17Speaker 1: and Keelan will get compared for the rest of their
- 4:18Speaker 1: careers just because same age or you said similar ages, similar,
- 4:23Speaker 1: you know, sec kind of quarterback play. I do think
- 4:25Speaker 1: that he's really, really impressive. And I kind of wonder
- 4:29Speaker 1: what he now, now against a real test though at home, what,
- 4:33Speaker 1: what he looks like, is it kind of man moments
- 4:35Speaker 1: too big or is it, Hey man, I don't know
- 4:37Speaker 1: what I don't know. I'm just going to go out
- 4:38Speaker 1: and play. Either one could happen, but how he plays
- 4:42Speaker 1: against Texas, I think will define where he's at so far.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure. I mean, look, this is his first
- 4:47Speaker 2: test and this test and this test comes with tons
- 4:51Speaker 2: of pressure for him like and and I and I
- 4:55Speaker 2: want to get into the why Heupel doesn't want to
- 4:57Speaker 2: put the ball in his hands but you think about
- 4:59Speaker 2: what's going to build up around this game what this
- 5:02Speaker 2: has turned into I mean once Texas beat Ohio State
- 5:06Speaker 2: right and then Tennessee didn't play laying egg against Georgia
- 5:11Speaker 2: Tech it became the college game day game yeah and
- 5:15Speaker 2: because A & M lost and LSU lost and then
- 5:18Speaker 2: the time slot for this game would have been changed
- 5:20Speaker 2: a month ago if they could redo it. But the
- 5:23Speaker 2: buildup to this game, Phil Fulmer's statue unveiling, the checkerboard
- 5:28Speaker 2: in the stands, you're going to have a blast at
- 5:31Speaker 2: this game. The president's coming now. All the celebrities that
- 5:35Speaker 2: are going to be there. This is not a normal game,
- 5:38Speaker 2: and this is something a true freshman quarterback has never
- 5:41Speaker 2: been through, this level of football game and the pressure coming.
- 5:46Speaker 2: that could end up being put on him in this game.
- 5:49Speaker 2: And this is why from a Tennessee perspective, when you
- 5:51Speaker 2: look at it, Josh Heupel, there's no ifs, ands, or
- 5:55Speaker 2: buts about it. They have to run the ball well
- 5:57Speaker 2: enough to where they're not forced to put the game
- 6:01Speaker 2: in his hands for too long against Will Muschamp. I mean,
- 6:05Speaker 2: I think that's a huge part of this game is
- 6:08Speaker 2: Texas isn't going to shut down the Tennessee run game.
- 6:12Speaker 2: I'm not going to be one of those guys that, oh,
- 6:13Speaker 2: Texas is going to walk in there and shut it down.
- 6:15Speaker 2: You're not going to shut it down. They're too good
- 6:17Speaker 2: at running the football. If you told me Saturday at four,
- 6:22Speaker 2: Texas could hold Tennessee to 125, 135 yards rushing, I'd
- 6:25Speaker 2: say Texas won the game. Because that means the ball
- 6:28Speaker 2: was put in Faison Brandon's hands more than Josh Heupel
- 6:32Speaker 2: wants to put the ball in a freshman quarterback's hands.
- 6:35Speaker 2: No matter how good a player he's going to be,
- 6:37Speaker 2: no matter how talented he is, That's not the way
- 6:40Speaker 2: that Tennessee wants this game to go. We know that.
- 6:43Speaker 2: And I think it's– what I think is going to
- 6:45Speaker 2: be interesting is, you know, the fun things early in
- 6:49Speaker 2: the season is how vanilla our team's being, right? Tennessee
- 6:54Speaker 2: has been– what's sub-vanilla? That's all they have had to do. Yeah.
- 6:59Speaker 2: Hypo's going to bring something out against Texas. And maybe
- 7:01Speaker 2: it's Faison Brandon and the QB run game a little
- 7:04Speaker 2: bit more than he has had to. He's going to
- 7:08Speaker 2: do something. that Texas just can't prepare for, they haven't seen.
- 7:12Speaker 2: And the key for Texas is when those times come,
- 7:16Speaker 2: those are 10- or 12-yard plays while you adjust to
- 7:19Speaker 2: the game and seeing something you haven't seen, and they're
- 7:21Speaker 2: not 50-yard plays because momentum is going to be massive
- 7:25Speaker 2: in this game. And Texas has a job on their
- 7:29Speaker 2: hands to limit Tennessee grabbing momentum in that crazy, raucous environment.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Hey, I'll get right back to the interview. But first,
- 7:36Speaker 1: I want to tell you, hey, make sure you are
- 7:38Speaker 1: subscribed to our audio only podcast. I'm going to link
- 7:41Speaker 1: that in the description. So make sure you are subscribed there.
- 7:46Speaker 1: I probably won't be able to do a full on
- 7:50Speaker 1: reaction video to this game. But having been there and
- 7:54Speaker 1: going to it, getting service to get a video up
- 7:57Speaker 1: is impossible. I will do an audio only. So go
- 8:00Speaker 1: to College Football Addiction, whether it's on Apple Podcasts, wherever
- 8:02Speaker 1: Spotify doesn't matter. I will link it in the description.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Make sure you're subscribed. Make sure you don't miss it.
- 8:09Speaker 1: And do me the favor of hitting the subscribe button
- 8:12Speaker 1: there and here on college football addiction. All right, back
- 8:15Speaker 1: to the interview. I wonder with this on the other
- 8:18Speaker 1: side of the ball, Tennessee's defense was really, really bad
- 8:21Speaker 1: last year and they haven't been challenged this year, but
- 8:24Speaker 1: I do feel better about Jim Knowles being there. They've
- 8:27Speaker 1: sustained some injuries. again, but they haven't been challenged. And
- 8:30Speaker 1: so that's kind of where I wonder, okay, where can
- 8:33Speaker 1: Texas take advantage? Um, a big part of that is
- 8:38Speaker 1: certainly not that it's all on his shoulders either, because
- 8:40Speaker 1: there's so much talent around him, but you know, we've
- 8:43Speaker 1: talked about this. I don't think arch is super sharp
- 8:46Speaker 1: right now. I think he does things every game that
- 8:48Speaker 1: you're like, man, what, what, what, What are we seeing here?
- 8:50Speaker 1: Or why, why did that ball sail? Or, you know,
- 8:52Speaker 1: why did you not take this, you know, check down or,
- 8:55Speaker 1: or get to this read. And so that's a matchup too.
- 8:58Speaker 1: I think Tennessee's defense, though they've been impressive through three
- 9:01Speaker 1: games can probably be exploited, but your quarterback has to
- 9:04Speaker 1: be sharp to go exploit it on the road where
- 9:06Speaker 1: admittedly I looked at just home road splits. He's not been,
- 9:11Speaker 1: it's been a pretty stark difference for, for us. And
- 9:14Speaker 1: so I, you know, I don't know where Tennessee ranks in,
- 9:17Speaker 1: on the hierarchy of tough places to play in the sec,
- 9:20Speaker 1: but I assume it's pretty near the top with a
- 9:22Speaker 1: hundred thousand hillbillies in there going crazy, which they would own.
- 9:26Speaker 1: That's not even a disc.
- 9:28Speaker 2: They're fun. They're a fun group on X to follow.
- 9:30Speaker 2: They're good at smack talkers too, but they're fun.
- 9:33Speaker 1: Yeah. And they haven't been mad at me. They have
- 9:36Speaker 1: been great at anything. I mean, baseball has been, been,
- 9:39Speaker 1: been good, but like, they haven't been really, really great
- 9:41Speaker 1: for a minute. And they're still like, they, they don't,
- 9:44Speaker 1: they don't take any days off. So yeah, how, how
- 9:47Speaker 1: large plays, how the offense looks, you know, cause if,
- 9:49Speaker 1: if you get up into the thirties, I'm not super
- 9:52Speaker 1: confident that Tennessee can, can match it. Especially if you're
- 9:54Speaker 1: like mid thirties, I don't know that Tennessee can match
- 9:56Speaker 1: that with phase on may go out and shock me,
- 9:59Speaker 1: but that would kind of be the limit. test for
- 10:00Speaker 1: me for Texas offense.
- 10:01Speaker 2: That's not the game. Hypo wants to play. He wants
- 10:03Speaker 2: this game in the twenties, right? And then one possession game.
- 10:06Speaker 2: And let's see where this thing goes. He doesn't want
- 10:09Speaker 2: to get in and up and back and forth up
- 10:11Speaker 2: and down game, even though they run tempo with their
- 10:13Speaker 2: run game. I don't think that's where he wants it
- 10:15Speaker 2: to go. I look, I think for arch, I think
- 10:18Speaker 2: the big thing, For Arch, is Sark and Texas offensive
- 10:22Speaker 2: line in this game? I think first and second downs
- 10:26Speaker 2: are critical, especially when you go on the road into
- 10:28Speaker 2: these type of environments. The one thing about Texas I'll
- 10:31Speaker 2: say is they haven't had the pre-snap penalties that they
- 10:35Speaker 2: had last year. Now this is a different test Saturday
- 10:40Speaker 2: because that offensive line, that communication, Connor Roberts in the center,
- 10:43Speaker 2: maybe he has the most important job on the field
- 10:45Speaker 2: for any Texas player in my– I think centers are
- 10:48Speaker 2: not talked about enough when they go into environments like this,
- 10:51Speaker 2: and communication is everything. So if Texas can stay ahead
- 10:56Speaker 2: of the chains in this game enough, that takes pressure
- 10:59Speaker 2: off of Arch in being in forced situations, third and 12s,
- 11:03Speaker 2: third and 14s. I think the one thing Arch has
- 11:07Speaker 2: to do is be willing to throw the ball away.
- 11:10Speaker 2: He does a good job protecting the football, not turning
- 11:13Speaker 2: the football over. He's taken a couple of sacks this
- 11:15Speaker 2: year where he was outside the box, and I'm just like, dude,
- 11:17Speaker 2: just throw it in the stands. He can't force in
- 11:21Speaker 2: this game. That's the one thing he can't do. If
- 11:23Speaker 2: he's blitzed outside the tackle box, no cross your body throws.
- 11:27Speaker 2: You only do those when you had to against Ohio
- 11:29Speaker 2: State when the game was on the line pretty much.
- 11:32Speaker 2: Those aren't winning plays. Deep late, late middle are not
- 11:36Speaker 2: winning plays, and that's what Jim Knoll is going to
- 11:38Speaker 2: try to make him do. Throw the ball in the
- 11:40Speaker 2: stands and live the play another day. I think it's
- 11:42Speaker 2: really big, that decision-making. But Texas has– this is going
- 11:46Speaker 2: to be a super physical football game, I think. Just
- 11:49Speaker 2: the buildup around it. Hypo, they know run game physicality
- 11:54Speaker 2: is their go-to and their biggest strength. I think Sark
- 11:56Speaker 2: has stressed physicality all year. The way they won that
- 11:59Speaker 2: Ohio State game was stressing what he stressed in fall camp.
- 12:03Speaker 2: And what must champ where is that no thud, no play?
- 12:06Speaker 2: That's been their whole mantra is to be more physical
- 12:09Speaker 2: football teams. This game is going to be super physical.
- 12:12Speaker 2: So what Arch has to do is almost just be
- 12:15Speaker 2: a bus driver in this game unless Texas can't run
- 12:20Speaker 2: the football. And if they can't run the football, they're
- 12:21Speaker 2: going to have issues with the three high. But I
- 12:24Speaker 2: think a key for Texas offense, Tennessee may not have
- 12:29Speaker 2: highly drafted linebackers on this team, They've got a couple
- 12:33Speaker 2: of guys that will be in NFL camps. But I
- 12:35Speaker 2: think they're three linebackers together, really good players. I think
- 12:39Speaker 2: Texas has to put those guys in conflict. If those
- 12:42Speaker 2: guys are just able to play one-dimensional downhill football against
- 12:45Speaker 2: the run and they're really affecting the run game, that's
- 12:49Speaker 2: not good for Texas. I think Sark has to put
- 12:51Speaker 2: those guys in conflict, keep those guys– They're going to
- 12:56Speaker 2: have to play in coverage. They're going to have to
- 12:58Speaker 2: play in drops. He's going to have to manipulate their
- 13:01Speaker 2: eyes a little bit, manipulate their feet a little bit.
- 13:04Speaker 2: I think that's a hidden part of this game. And
- 13:07Speaker 2: we'll get to the Texas side, but I think the
- 13:08Speaker 2: Texas linebackers are about to be really tested in the
- 13:11Speaker 2: run game as well. Texas has to control the Tennessee
- 13:16Speaker 2: linebackers in this game.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Yeah, when I thought about Tennessee before the season and
- 13:21Speaker 1: I thought about a true freshman going in there and playing,
- 13:24Speaker 1: I was thinking, okay, what are the things a true
- 13:25Speaker 1: freshman needs to be successful? A really good offensive line.
- 13:29Speaker 1: I think Tennessee has one of the best offensive lines
- 13:31Speaker 1: in the conference. a good running game. Again, one of
- 13:34Speaker 1: the best in the conference, great weapons and an offensive
- 13:36Speaker 1: coach that I think Hypo does as good of a
- 13:39Speaker 1: job as anybody of, um, putting his quarterbacks in really,
- 13:44Speaker 1: really good spots. Like nobody thought Aguilar would be great.
- 13:46Speaker 1: I thought he did a pretty good job with Nico,
- 13:48Speaker 1: obviously hooker before that. Like he's, he's done a really
- 13:51Speaker 1: good job with quarterbacks, no matter their age, no matter
- 13:53Speaker 1: their talent ability, you know, bringing an Aguilar and doing
- 13:57Speaker 1: a good job last year. Like And so all of
- 13:59Speaker 1: those things are set up to where phase on might
- 14:02Speaker 1: end up being the truth and might end up being, uh,
- 14:05Speaker 1: on the stage in New York one day, but he
- 14:07Speaker 1: doesn't have to be because there's so much good around him.
- 14:10Speaker 1: And that is a real test for me. Not that
- 14:13Speaker 1: Texas didn't get a test against Ohio state, but I
- 14:15Speaker 1: think this is a little bit better, um, Probably a
- 14:18Speaker 1: little bit better offensive line, maybe a little bit better
- 14:20Speaker 1: running game. I don't think the receivers are as good, obviously,
- 14:23Speaker 1: but the test that this offense presents is very real.
- 14:27Speaker 1: And then again, you add in Josh Hypel, who is
- 14:29Speaker 1: one of the best in the country when it comes
- 14:31Speaker 1: to a game plan, pulling tricks out of his, out
- 14:34Speaker 1: of his, you know, what, all those things. I think that's,
- 14:36Speaker 1: you know, that's a fun aspect of this.
- 14:39Speaker 2: I love Tennessee's run game. I love what he's doing
- 14:42Speaker 2: out of 12 personnel. I think he's so creative in
- 14:45Speaker 2: the run game. I think the left tackle's a stud.
- 14:48Speaker 2: And I'm not saying he's going to win every rep
- 14:49Speaker 2: Saturday because Texas has NFL players too. And he's still,
- 14:52Speaker 2: I think, I'm not even sure he's started 10 games yet.
- 14:54Speaker 2: But that guy should be a top 10 pick. If
- 14:57Speaker 2: he's not, something went wrong. David Sanders is super talented.
- 15:00Speaker 2: I kind of look at it when I watch Tennessee
- 15:02Speaker 2: offensive line for Texas. Play even on the left side,
- 15:06Speaker 2: win against the right side. I think Ian Jafar, Texas'
- 15:09Speaker 2: big defensive tackle, 6'7, 6'6, 375, who is a problem
- 15:14Speaker 2: for Ohio State. In Texas State and UTSA, weren't really
- 15:17Speaker 2: his type of games because it was more spread, right?
- 15:20Speaker 2: But this is his type of game. He was brought
- 15:22Speaker 2: to Texas for games like this. He has to swallow
- 15:25Speaker 2: a gap. If he swallows a gap, that takes away
- 15:29Speaker 2: a little bit of Tennessee's run game. And the other
- 15:32Speaker 2: interesting aspect of this game, too, is, What would surprise
- 15:36Speaker 2: me a little at Ohio State, when Muschamp, who had
- 15:38Speaker 2: kept tinkering until he found something to slow down Bo
- 15:41Speaker 2: Jackson that run game, when he went to the Jumbo
- 15:43Speaker 2: D line package, which was Ian Drafard over the ball,
- 15:46Speaker 2: Hero Canoe, either Alex January and Rod Watson and Lance
- 15:49Speaker 2: Jackson out there, Ohio State just went to play action
- 15:52Speaker 2: and started throwing it. I guess that's simple when you
- 15:54Speaker 2: have Julian Sand and you have Jeremiah Smith in those weapons,
- 15:58Speaker 2: but same with 5-16 in the second half. That's not
- 16:00Speaker 2: going to happen Saturday. Tennessee will keep testing Texas against
- 16:04Speaker 2: the run. It must have brought out the jumbo, the
- 16:08Speaker 2: line package, and Ohio State said, eh, we're just going
- 16:10Speaker 2: to go play action. That's not going to happen with Tennessee.
- 16:13Speaker 2: He's going to protect Faison, and they know they have
- 16:16Speaker 2: to run the football 40 times in this game, I think,
- 16:20Speaker 2: and keep plugging away. I think the key for Texas
- 16:23Speaker 2: is Texas linebackers are about to be tested in a
- 16:26Speaker 2: way in the run game that even Ohio State couldn't
- 16:28Speaker 2: test them. Like that 12 personnel, it's really creative. what
- 16:32Speaker 2: Josh Heupel's doing this year. And they're going to really
- 16:35Speaker 2: test those guys. They're going to say, all right, Cryer, Biles,
- 16:38Speaker 2: you're a tremendous player in space. You have a knack
- 16:40Speaker 2: for making turnovers, getting turnovers for your team. But you
- 16:45Speaker 2: know what? We're going to hit you in the mouth
- 16:46Speaker 2: 25 times in this game. Texas strong side backer, Brad Spence,
- 16:51Speaker 2: you guys are going to have to play the run.
- 16:53Speaker 2: It's going to be physical run over and over and
- 16:55Speaker 2: over again. And that's one way Texas hasn't been tested.
- 16:58Speaker 2: So I think linebackers on both sides in this game
- 17:01Speaker 2: are not going to be talked about enough because like
- 17:03Speaker 2: we talked about Faison Brandon, Arch Manning, the two offensive
- 17:06Speaker 2: left tackles or first round picks, Cam Coleman, all the weapons.
- 17:11Speaker 2: But it's interesting sometimes when you get these physical SEC games, man,
- 17:15Speaker 2: look at those linebackers. Look at how can you manipulate
- 17:18Speaker 2: the linebackers? Can you make them two-dimensional? And for Texas,
- 17:22Speaker 2: they're just about to be testing the run game in
- 17:24Speaker 2: a way they haven't been yet this year.
- 17:26Speaker 1: Yeah. I wonder, again, I really like I want to
- 17:31Speaker 1: believe in Knowles. I want to believe in this Tennessee defense.
- 17:33Speaker 1: But until I see it against an offense with a pulse,
- 17:36Speaker 1: it's just hard, man. Now, yeah, if they come out
- 17:39Speaker 1: and hold Texas under 24 points, then yeah, man, I'll
- 17:42Speaker 1: be singing every praise that's possible.
- 17:44Speaker 2: But they have to go prove it. You're right, too.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Yeah, you've got to see it, man. I know Knowles
- 17:48Speaker 1: is great. I know there's more talent on this defense. Again,
- 17:51Speaker 1: the injuries are a big deal. Obviously, Chaz never ended
- 17:53Speaker 1: up making it to— to the season, um, which was
- 17:56Speaker 1: a big deal for them, but they've looked good. But again,
- 17:59Speaker 1: I mean, Nebraska's look good and they've played two Mac
- 18:01Speaker 1: and an FCS opponent, you know, like everybody looks good. Well,
- 18:04Speaker 1: not everybody, unfortunately for me, but everybody looks good at
- 18:07Speaker 1: this point of the year. Um, let's do a quick
- 18:10Speaker 1: rapid fire. We'll predict this and get out, uh, Ole Miss,
- 18:14Speaker 1: an underdog at Florida. I'm kind of in the camp of,
- 18:16Speaker 1: I'm not betting against Trinidad until he gives me a
- 18:19Speaker 1: reason to, but, uh, I think Florida is a lot
- 18:21Speaker 1: better than people expect it.
- 18:22Speaker 2: Florida offensively can roll with anybody. I think that. Buster
- 18:25Speaker 2: Faulkner brought his quarterback, right? Jaden Baugh is the best
- 18:29Speaker 2: running back in the country. I've been saying that since
- 18:31Speaker 2: last year. They have two top three-round pick receivers, and
- 18:34Speaker 2: Singleton hadn't even played yet, and he brings a speed burner.
- 18:37Speaker 2: They're as good on offense as anybody in this league.
- 18:40Speaker 2: I want to see where they're at defensively. I think
- 18:43Speaker 2: they have a little bit of defensive issues in year one,
- 18:45Speaker 2: and I have a big John Sumrall guy. I love him.
- 18:47Speaker 2: I think he's going to do really good for Florida.
- 18:49Speaker 2: I think he's genuine, and that matters. But this is
- 18:52Speaker 2: a tough game to see where your defense is at.
- 18:56Speaker 2: Because we know where Trinidad Chambliss is at now. Is
- 18:59Speaker 2: Kiwan Lacey healthy? I don't know. Ole Miss doesn't stop
- 19:01Speaker 2: the run, though. Is that something that would be interesting?
- 19:04Speaker 2: I'm surprised Florida's favored. But I will say this, the
- 19:07Speaker 2: Swamp is going to be wild Saturday. This will be
- 19:11Speaker 2: a home field advantage for Florida. I like Ole Miss
- 19:14Speaker 2: to win the game tight.
- 19:16Speaker 1: I don't know if you saw this clip, but I
- 19:17Speaker 1: saw Pate on his show with Bussin said that he
- 19:19Speaker 1: called FanDuel and asked them, asked about, you know, you
- 19:25Speaker 1: get three, three and a half points, whatever, for home field.
- 19:28Speaker 1: He said FanDuel is baking in like. three points for
- 19:32Speaker 1: like an emotional letdown situation for Ole miss. I've never
- 19:35Speaker 1: heard that in my entire, like 36 years of life. That's,
- 19:40Speaker 1: that's a cool concept. Um, because teams often do have
- 19:44Speaker 1: that situation. For example, if, if Texas played Ohio state
- 19:47Speaker 1: last week, I think this game might, if they're doing
- 19:50Speaker 1: the same logic, you, you might have kind of that
- 19:52Speaker 1: same idea of like, maybe, maybe this would be a
- 19:55Speaker 1: two and a half point spread, uh, for, for Texas
- 19:57Speaker 1: instead of four and a half, five and a half.
- 19:58Speaker 1: So that's interesting. I like Ole Miss too, until they
- 20:01Speaker 1: give me a reason to, to not, um, Other side
- 20:05Speaker 1: of the country, USC-Oregon. Feels like both teams have to
- 20:08Speaker 1: win Oregon because it would be their second loss. USC,
- 20:11Speaker 1: because if you can't beat a down Oregon team, a
- 20:13Speaker 1: down Oregon team, then who are you going to beat? But, yeah,
- 20:17Speaker 1: a lot of points in that one, too, I think.
- 20:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so, too. And USC was not– and
- 20:22Speaker 2: I love Gary Patterson. They were bad on defense last
- 20:25Speaker 2: week against Rutgers. I mean, they gave up, what, 35
- 20:27Speaker 2: and 470 yards? I didn't expect that. The other thing
- 20:32Speaker 2: with USC is Oregon already tipped their plays in a game.
- 20:35Speaker 2: So now, you know, you wanted that to be your game, right? Yeah.
- 20:40Speaker 2: I think this is going to come down to USC
- 20:43Speaker 2: putting pressure on Dante Moore. I mean, look, they've got
- 20:47Speaker 2: a receiver down now. And I think Oregon's reeling a
- 20:50Speaker 2: little bit. I'm going to take USC, but, man, I
- 20:54Speaker 2: don't know who's going to win this game.
- 20:56Speaker 1: I really don't.
- 20:57Speaker 2: I think Mav is a good player. I think, look,
- 21:00Speaker 2: Mosley's out for them, the freshman receiver that had gone
- 21:03Speaker 2: over 100 twice. I mean, let's basically say this. I'm
- 21:07Speaker 2: not trying to insult Rutgers here, but USC's played four
- 21:12Speaker 2: group of six level talented teams this fall. So this
- 21:16Speaker 2: is a test for them from an athletic standpoint. And
- 21:19Speaker 2: you kind of wonder if that Oregon-Oklahoma State game is
- 21:22Speaker 2: going to end up being the ultimate motivator. but it
- 21:25Speaker 2: just smells like something's a little off and Eugene to me.
- 21:27Speaker 2: So I'm going to take USC type, but I flip
- 21:30Speaker 2: a coin. Yeah.
- 21:32Speaker 1: I'm kind of the same way. I think I have
- 21:33Speaker 1: a little bit more confidence in Oregon's defense than I
- 21:36Speaker 1: do USC's. So I feel like I lean that way,
- 21:40Speaker 1: but man, I can't get the Oklahoma state game out
- 21:41Speaker 1: of my mind. It's that's a tough one.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Um, all right.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Alabama, South Carolina, LSU, Texas, A & M, Georgia, Oklahoma, best,
- 21:51Speaker 1: best chance of an upset.
- 21:54Speaker 2: Um, Best chance of an upset. You know, not Oklahoma.
- 22:03Speaker 2: If John Mateer needs somebody to tell him where to throw,
- 22:05Speaker 2: he's there.
- 22:06Speaker 1: I don't think Athens is going to help him in that.
- 22:08Speaker 2: No, and they ran the ball 20 times. Running backs,
- 22:11Speaker 2: 20 carries for 46 yards against New Mexico. Now you're
- 22:13Speaker 2: going to Athens. Not that one. I'm not saying it's
- 22:16Speaker 2: going to be 50-0. George Kirby's not like that. But
- 22:18Speaker 2: 28-7 is a freaking blowout in a game like that
- 22:21Speaker 2: where two good defensive teams. I'm going South Carolina, Alabama.
- 22:25Speaker 2: And the only reason I'm saying that is because the
- 22:27Speaker 2: Knowles put up 36 last year. And one thing I
- 22:31Speaker 2: know about Kendall Browse and he has Lenore Sellers is
- 22:34Speaker 2: if FSU can score, South Carolina is going to be
- 22:36Speaker 2: able to score. And the key there for South Carolina
- 22:40Speaker 2: is can you win a game 41-38 at Alabama? I
- 22:45Speaker 2: think I'm a big Kalen DeBoer fan, but That's my
- 22:49Speaker 2: upset type of game I'm looking at, and I'm not
- 22:51Speaker 2: saying it's going to happen. I think Alabama's favored by
- 22:54Speaker 2: double digits for a reason. But if you're saying, ooh,
- 22:57Speaker 2: you've got to look at that FSU last week and
- 23:01Speaker 2: that 50-36 game, South Carolina is probably a better version
- 23:05Speaker 2: of that with Lenore Sellers offensively, and they may not
- 23:07Speaker 2: have chroma. But that one would be the upset game.
- 23:11Speaker 2: A & M, I think they're going to come out.
- 23:12Speaker 2: I mean, they played patty cakes and got smacked last week. Kentucky,
- 23:17Speaker 2: the basketball school, came in and physically beat them up.
- 23:20Speaker 2: That is embarrassing and demoralizing for the A & M
- 23:22Speaker 2: fan base. So A & M is going to come
- 23:24Speaker 2: out physical. LSU is going to be reeling because they
- 23:27Speaker 2: lost two– they not only lost the game last week,
- 23:30Speaker 2: they lost two first-round picks, Deshaun Spears and Tredez Green. Yeah. Yeah.
- 23:35Speaker 2: I don't care how much talent you have. You just
- 23:37Speaker 2: lost two future first-round picks, or at least a first
- 23:40Speaker 2: and a second. So I think A & M' s going
- 23:43Speaker 2: to give it a fight, but I like LSU in
- 23:46Speaker 2: that game. I think LSU is going to destroy A
- 23:48Speaker 2: & M' s offensive line. I think Baker's going to put
- 23:51Speaker 2: pressure on Reed, and we've seen what Reed does with pressure.
- 23:55Speaker 1: We talked about a lot of points being scored. The
- 24:01Speaker 1: over-under for Michigan-Iowa is 38.5.
- 24:02Speaker 2: Yes.
- 24:04Speaker 1: How, how low of an under would you take in that?
- 24:06Speaker 1: Like what, where would you still like, how low would it,
- 24:09Speaker 1: or do you like the over in that game anyway?
- 24:11Speaker 1: Like how low would that under have to get for
- 24:12Speaker 1: you to say, all right, I won't take the under there.
- 24:14Speaker 1: Cause I'll take it at 38 and a half.
- 24:17Speaker 2: Um, yeah. Probably.
- 24:18Speaker 1: Did you take it at like 31? Like, is that
- 24:20Speaker 1: too much?
- 24:20Speaker 2: No, I think that's too much because flute plays specialty. Yeah.
- 24:23Speaker 1: 17, 14, 34 and a half.
- 24:23Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 24:27Speaker 1: I think it's ugly. I think it's so ugly. And
- 24:31Speaker 1: I think both teams are fine with that. Obviously, Michigan
- 24:33Speaker 1: would like to score more points with Bryce. But do
- 24:35Speaker 1: you have a pick in that one?
- 24:38Speaker 2: I really don't. I'll say Michigan in that game.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I think Bryce makes one play late with his
- 24:44Speaker 1: legs like he did against Oklahoma.
- 24:46Speaker 2: Can I say that? Because I think Whittingham, he's a
- 24:49Speaker 2: really good coach, and that team will keep getting better
- 24:52Speaker 2: under his leadership. They're going to keep improving. They're not
- 24:54Speaker 2: voided talent at Michigan.
- 24:57Speaker 1: And then this one, Tennessee, Texas, I told you off air, I'm,
- 25:00Speaker 1: I'm going to this. So I'm super excited. I won't,
- 25:02Speaker 1: I'm not wearing either shade of orange, but I will
- 25:03Speaker 1: be there. Me and me and the president, I guess
- 25:07Speaker 1: not sitting together. But I think he'll probably be in
- 25:10Speaker 1: a little bit better seats than I will. The, the
- 25:14Speaker 1: four and a half, five and a half point spreads,
- 25:15Speaker 1: Texas cover that. How close is this? What's the final score?
- 25:18Speaker 2: I'm at 27, 20 Texas. I could see, I can
- 25:22Speaker 2: see a scenario where Texas wins by two touchdowns in
- 25:25Speaker 2: this game. I'm not sure I see a scenario where
- 25:28Speaker 2: Tennessee could. So I lean more– I give the home
- 25:32Speaker 2: field its just due in respect for the schedule. That's
- 25:38Speaker 2: a tough place to play. I think Texas is the
- 25:41Speaker 2: better football team. I think if this was a neutral
- 25:43Speaker 2: site game, I'd take Texas by two touchdowns. But I
- 25:48Speaker 2: think that home field, the buildup around this game, it's
- 25:50Speaker 2: going to be super physical. I got Texas 27-20. Um, and, and,
- 25:55Speaker 2: and I think it may feel like a bigger win
- 25:57Speaker 2: for Texas and the scoreboard.
- 25:59Speaker 1: Yeah. I think if you're Tennessee, you're kind of hoping
- 26:02Speaker 1: for a repeat of that, um, that Georgia game from
- 26:04Speaker 1: last year where you have some explosives early, get up,
- 26:07Speaker 1: Texas is going to fight back, but then maybe you
- 26:09Speaker 1: make the kick at the end of the game instead
- 26:12Speaker 1: of missing it. If you miss another one, just, you know,
- 26:15Speaker 1: pray for, pray for the volunteers fans. So What do
- 26:17Speaker 1: you guys have coming this week? I know you'll, you'll
- 26:19Speaker 1: do a watch along tomorrow and then you've got more
- 26:21Speaker 1: coming this week, but where can people find it? And yeah, yeah.
