- 0:26Speaker 4: They flat out, just what's blaming me? You did it,
- 0:29Speaker 4: didn't she?
- 0:29Speaker 1: The clues in Kelsey's last text messages.
- 0:32Speaker 2: You don't believe that that was a text written by
- 0:35Speaker 2: your daughter.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Surveillance video of a mystery man in a hoodie who
- 0:39Speaker 1: is the person? Crime Watch Daily's Anna Garcia is on
- 0:42Speaker 1: the case in Colorado?

- 1:25Speaker 7: Always do.
- 1:28Speaker 2: So.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Welcome to crime Watch Daily, everyone, I'm Chris Hansen. First
- 1:32Speaker 1: up today. It was supposed to be an exciting new
- 1:35Speaker 1: chapter for Kelsey Shelling. She had just found out she
- 1:37Speaker 1: was pregnant with her first child. Instead, the young mother
- 1:40Speaker 1: to be would end up the subject of a tragic mystery.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Ana Garcia is in Colorado now with details. Hey, Annah, Chris.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Kelsey Shelling was so happy she had just seen the
- 1:50Speaker 2: baby's heartbeat during an ultrasound exam. She sent a picture
- 1:54Speaker 2: of the baby to her on again, off again boyfriend,
- 1:56Speaker 2: and soon after that, Kelsey vanished. A beautiful young woman,
- 2:02Speaker 2: She's still my baby.
- 2:04Speaker 8: A man in a hoodie, he's certainly a person of interest.
- 2:09Speaker 2: And a mystery in the shadows of the Rocky Mountains?
- 2:14Speaker 2: Does the mystery man hold the key that unlocks the question?
- 2:18Speaker 2: What happened to Kelsey Shelling? Kelsey was twenty one years
- 2:26Speaker 2: old when she vanished.
- 2:28Speaker 3: She was just always very spirited and dispol of life.
- 2:32Speaker 3: I mean, from the time she was a little girl.
- 2:35Speaker 3: I can tell the time that she were Missy.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Kelsey's mother, Laura can barely hold back the tears. Her
- 2:43Speaker 2: beloved daughter disappeared less than two weeks before her twenty
- 2:47Speaker 2: second birthday. And your heart must be in pieces.
- 2:51Speaker 3: It is every second of every day.
- 2:53Speaker 2: She never leaves my thought. Kelsey has piercing hazel eyes.
- 3:00Speaker 2: It would make anyone's heart melt. I mean, Kelsey's just stunning.
- 3:04Speaker 2: What a beautiful young woman. Yeah, she's a beautiful girl,
- 3:08Speaker 2: just stunning, beautiful eyes. But Kelsey had eyes for only
- 3:14Speaker 2: one man, six foot eight basketball starred Dante Lucas they
- 3:18Speaker 2: met in junior college.
- 3:20Speaker 3: She was smitten. I knew she was smitten with him.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Laura says she was never a big fan of the
- 3:26Speaker 2: basketball forward.
- 3:28Speaker 3: He probably didn't want to be in a steady relationship,
- 3:31Speaker 3: but yet he didn't want to let her go, and
- 3:33Speaker 3: he didn't want somebody else to have her either.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Then geography through a roadblock on the road to romance.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Dante transferred to a college in Kansas. Kelsey went the
- 3:44Speaker 2: other direction, to a college in southern California. When she
- 3:48Speaker 2: transferred to college in California, was that the end of
- 3:52Speaker 2: her relationship with Dante.
- 3:53Speaker 3: Yeah, they were done at that point, and were.
- 3:56Speaker 2: You happy about that?
- 3:57Speaker 3: I was glad. I was glad she was moving on
- 3:59Speaker 3: to other things.
- 4:02Speaker 2: But California was too expensive, so Kelsey returned to Denver
- 4:06Speaker 2: and went to work at a local store. So when
- 4:09Speaker 2: did Dante come back into the picture.
- 4:11Speaker 3: Shortly before she was going to move back, they started
- 4:14Speaker 3: communicating again, be a text and Facebook and talking on
- 4:19Speaker 3: the phone and all.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Of that, Laura says. Kelsey and Dante got back together,
- 4:26Speaker 2: and then the unexpected happened. She was pregnant.
- 4:29Speaker 3: He was on his holiday break. That's when they were
- 4:32Speaker 3: in Denver spending time together.
- 4:34Speaker 2: What was Dante's reaction?
- 4:37Speaker 3: According to Kelsey, he was very upset. He was very
- 4:40Speaker 3: upset about the pregnancy. One day he was kind of
- 4:43Speaker 3: maybe a little bit better with it, and the next
- 4:45Speaker 3: day he was not okay with it. So it was
- 4:47Speaker 3: kind of a roller coaster. And so I would ask her,
- 4:50Speaker 3: you know, do you think Dante's going to be involved
- 4:52Speaker 3: or not involved? And she's like, well, you know, I'm
- 4:55Speaker 3: about ninety eight percent sure he's not going to be involved.
- 4:59Speaker 3: He's very manipulate TV and I had seen one text
- 5:02Speaker 3: message that she had forwarded to a friend where you know,
- 5:05Speaker 3: he threatened to take the baby away from her.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Well, why would he want to take the baby away
- 5:10Speaker 2: from her if he didn't want the baby in the
- 5:13Speaker 2: first place.
- 5:14Speaker 3: I don't think he did want to. I just think
- 5:15Speaker 3: he wanted.
- 5:16Speaker 2: To scare her that things were going to be really
- 5:18Speaker 2: hard if she decided to go through with the pregnancy. Yeah,
- 5:22Speaker 2: On the morning of February fourth, Kelsey went to the
- 5:25Speaker 2: doctor for an ultrasound. This is the sonogram of the fetus.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Kelsey was so excited she texted the picture to her
- 5:33Speaker 2: mom and even shared it with Dante and his mother.
- 5:37Speaker 3: She had said, everything's good. You know, my due date
- 5:41Speaker 3: September thirteenth, and the doctor said everything looks good and
- 5:45Speaker 3: she was happy and everything, And unfortunately I never got
- 5:50Speaker 3: to talk to her.
- 5:50Speaker 2: Again, her parents say. Dante texted Kelsey asking her to
- 5:56Speaker 2: meet him that night. She left work at eight forty
- 5:59Speaker 2: one pm. When Laura and Kelsey's friends didn't hear from
- 6:03Speaker 2: her the next day, they panicked. Laura filed a missing
- 6:07Speaker 2: person's report with the Denver Police.
- 6:10Speaker 3: When we finally filed the missing person's report, I called
- 6:14Speaker 3: Dante right away, you know, to ask him if she
- 6:18Speaker 3: he knew where she was, and you know, he had
- 6:20Speaker 3: said that he had seen her and that they got
- 6:22Speaker 3: in a fight, and you know, I said, we can't
- 6:26Speaker 3: find her. I said, she's she's missing. I said, I
- 6:28Speaker 3: don't know where she is. And he's like, you know,
- 6:30Speaker 3: oh okay, I mean like no alarm, no nothing, just
- 6:33Speaker 3: oh okay. Yeah. If I hear anything, I'll let you know.
- 6:37Speaker 3: And then shortly after that, I hear back from him
- 6:40Speaker 3: and he's like, well, Kelsey just called me from a
- 6:42Speaker 3: private number. She said she lost her phone and that
- 6:45Speaker 3: she'll be getting a hold of you soon. Then after that,
- 6:48Speaker 3: you know, never really heard anything more from him.
- 6:52Speaker 2: Did a red flag go up?
- 6:53Speaker 3: I was starting to get really uncomfortable at that point.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Kelsey's dad, Doug, says he frantically texted her.
- 7:04Speaker 4: I texted her and I said how you doing? And
- 7:07Speaker 4: she never got back with me, and so I texted
- 7:09Speaker 4: her and I said, hey, give me a call and
- 7:11Speaker 4: I want to talk to you. So I got a
- 7:13Speaker 4: text message back it says I'm not feeling good on
- 7:16Speaker 4: the land on the couch, I'll talk to you tomorrow.
- 7:19Speaker 4: And her friends also they kind of after we put
- 7:21Speaker 4: everything together, we kind of realized that, hey, you know,
- 7:23Speaker 4: that doesn't even sound like Kelsey. After we look at it,
- 7:25Speaker 4: and we all kind of realized that somebody else must
- 7:28Speaker 4: have had her phone and and was texting us back
- 7:30Speaker 4: just to pacify, you know, passify us, I guess.
- 7:33Speaker 2: So, so you don't believe that that was a text
- 7:35Speaker 2: written by your daughter. So if you don't think that
- 7:38Speaker 2: that was really Kelsey texting you, who.
- 7:41Speaker 4: Was it was somebody?
- 7:42Speaker 7: Yeah it was.
- 7:44Speaker 4: It was probably Dante, but.
- 7:46Speaker 2: The suspicion wasn't on Dante. Doug says three other people
- 7:51Speaker 2: were already under the police microscope.
- 7:53Speaker 4: He was like, man, they think I did some to her.
- 7:57Speaker 2: They were Kelsey's own parents and her brother.
- 8:01Speaker 4: We got interrogated downtown Denver when Kelsey was missing, and
- 8:06Speaker 4: they took me in and they took my son in
- 8:09Speaker 4: and Laurian and they were good. I mean they were
- 8:11Speaker 4: really good here in Denver. I mean it was unbelievable.
- 8:13Speaker 4: I mean they flat out just was blaming me. You
- 8:16Speaker 4: did it? Didn't seriously, No, I didn't, you know, And
- 8:20Speaker 4: I tell you what, it was tough on me.
- 8:23Speaker 2: And to make matters worse, Kelsey didn't go missing in Denver.
- 8:26Speaker 2: She was two hours and one hundred and fifteen miles
- 8:29Speaker 2: away in Pueblo, Dante's hometown. Coming up, What happened to
- 8:35Speaker 2: Kelsey in Pueblo?
- 8:37Speaker 3: Any like there's no sign of her? No, there's no
- 8:39Speaker 3: sign of her.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Would an ultrasound image change everything?
- 8:44Speaker 7: Wasn't pregnant?
- 8:46Speaker 2: Was not a changing story and the nearly impossible task
- 8:51Speaker 2: to find Kelsey. Do you think there's any possibility that
- 8:54Speaker 2: Kelsey's alive?
- 9:00Speaker 1: Shelling had just seen an ultrasound of her first baby
- 9:02Speaker 1: to come. She and her mother were beyond excited. However,
- 9:06Speaker 1: hours later, that excitement would turn to fear when the
- 9:08Speaker 1: twenty one year old mom to be would disappear. Ana
- 9:11Speaker 1: Garcia is back in Colorado with more.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Kelsey Shelling couldn't contain her excitement. She was having a
- 9:19Speaker 2: baby with her basketball star boyfriend Dante Lucas.
- 9:23Speaker 3: She had said, everything's good, you know, in my due
- 9:26Speaker 3: date September thirteenth, and the doctor said everything looks good.
- 9:31Speaker 3: And unfortunately I never got to talk to her again
- 9:35Speaker 3: physically talk to her.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Kelsey's dad, Doug, says he thought Kelsey would be worried
- 9:40Speaker 2: about his reaction and how was she feeling about it?
- 9:43Speaker 4: Really good? Yeah, I think her mom said she was,
- 9:46Speaker 4: and she seemed pretty happy when she talked to me,
- 9:49Speaker 4: and I was okay with it. I think she's expected
- 9:51Speaker 4: me to just blow up, and I didn't, Thank goodness,
- 9:53Speaker 4: I didn't.
- 9:53Speaker 2: You wouldn't have wanted that to be your last interaction.
- 9:56Speaker 2: But that was the last phone call Doug Shelling would
- 10:00Speaker 2: ever have with his daughter. Later that day, Kelsey vanished
- 10:04Speaker 2: from the face of the earth. Doug says Denver police
- 10:08Speaker 2: initially thought both he and Kelsey's mom may have been responsible.
- 10:12Speaker 4: The interrogations were horrible.
- 10:15Speaker 2: When cops realized that Kelsey didn't disappear in Denver, but
- 10:19Speaker 2: one hundred and fifteen miles away in Dante's hometown of Pueblo.
- 10:23Speaker 2: The parents were off the hook and Dante was in
- 10:26Speaker 2: the hot seat.
- 10:27Speaker 8: Can we believe that she was killed?
- 10:30Speaker 2: Pueblo Police Captain Eric Bravo is the detective in charge
- 10:34Speaker 2: of the case.
- 10:35Speaker 3: You think she was murdered?
- 10:36Speaker 8: Ideal, and there was some tension with Dante. I think
- 10:39Speaker 8: this pregnancy probably played into that.
- 10:43Speaker 4: So what do you think happened to her?
- 10:46Speaker 8: I think she came to Pueblo, I met Dante. I
- 10:49Speaker 8: believe there was some argument that escalated between the two.
- 10:54Speaker 8: I believe that she was killed. Dante is responsible.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Captain, how would you describe Dante Lucas? Is he a
- 11:04Speaker 2: person of interest?
- 11:05Speaker 4: Is he a suspect?
- 11:07Speaker 8: He's certainly a person of interest at this point.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Police say these surveillance videos back up that claim, although
- 11:13Speaker 2: he has never been arrested or charged in connection with
- 11:17Speaker 2: the disappearance. Dante told cops he asked Kelsey to meet
- 11:22Speaker 2: at their so called special place just down the street
- 11:25Speaker 2: from his house. He says she wasn't feeling well, so
- 11:29Speaker 2: he took her to this hospital and then to this
- 11:32Speaker 2: walmart where they sat and talked. But the surveillance video
- 11:37Speaker 2: from that walmart seems to contradict Dante's story. It shows
- 11:41Speaker 2: Kelsey's car pulling into a parking spot around twelve noon.
- 11:46Speaker 2: Dante is the only one seen getting out. Then, at
- 11:50Speaker 2: seven nineteen the next morning, the camera catches a tall, thin,
- 11:54Speaker 2: mysterious man in a gray hoodie walking to Kelsey's car.
- 11:58Speaker 2: Cops can't make out his face, but he gets in
- 12:01Speaker 2: without hesitation and drives off.
- 12:04Speaker 3: Who is the person.
- 12:05Speaker 8: That's okay, they're not definitive that it's him. There's some
- 12:09Speaker 8: characteristics that I feel are unique to him. They're not
- 12:13Speaker 8: a quality where you can make out a face.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Kelsey's car sat in the parking lot for over eighteen hours,
- 12:23Speaker 2: and the video shows that no one else got in
- 12:26Speaker 2: or out.
- 12:27Speaker 3: You're telling me that she sat in that car for
- 12:29Speaker 3: eighteen hours and didn't get out there. Nobody got in
- 12:32Speaker 3: or out of that car for eighteen hours until the
- 12:35Speaker 3: man came back and picked it up and moved it.
- 12:38Speaker 2: And do you have any idea who moved that car?
- 12:40Speaker 2: I think it was Dante, but the police say they
- 12:43Speaker 2: can't confirm it.
- 12:44Speaker 3: They can't confirm it. Now. The video is, you know,
- 12:47Speaker 3: not great video, but he's a big guy. I mean
- 12:51Speaker 3: you watch the stride and everything.
- 12:55Speaker 2: Where did the man in the hoodie take Kelsey's car?
- 12:58Speaker 2: Eight days later, the cops found it abandoned in the
- 13:02Speaker 2: parking lot of a different hospital, ironically on Valentine's Day.
- 13:06Speaker 3: It was Valentine's Day. And got the call that the
- 13:11Speaker 3: car had been found. And the first question I asked
- 13:15Speaker 3: was is she in the truck? Because I didn't know,
- 13:19Speaker 3: and they said no, she wasn't in the truck. And
- 13:22Speaker 3: I'm like, there's no sign of her. No, there's no
- 13:24Speaker 3: sign of her, and so we made a mad racing
- 13:30Speaker 3: trip down to Pueblo to go talk to the detective
- 13:33Speaker 3: down there.
- 13:36Speaker 2: The police say this is definitely Dante on a bank
- 13:39Speaker 2: surveillance camera one day after Kelsey vanished. He's seen it
- 13:44Speaker 2: a drive through atm withdrawing four hundred dollars from Kelsey's account.
- 13:48Speaker 2: The video was enough for cops to arrest him on
- 13:51Speaker 2: a charge of identity theft. Dante was in custody for
- 13:57Speaker 2: allegedly stealing Kelsey's cash, but cops really wanted to know
- 14:01Speaker 2: where was Kelsey.
- 14:03Speaker 7: So the day she came down did she learned the
- 14:04Speaker 7: doctor lived? And when she telled me she wasn't pregnant,
- 14:09Speaker 7: she was or wasn't She was not pregnant?
- 14:12Speaker 9: So how did that get from her not being pregnant
- 14:15Speaker 9: coming down here?
- 14:16Speaker 2: Dante told police that he brought Kelsey here to Park
- 14:19Speaker 2: View Medical Center because she wasn't feeling well. He says
- 14:22Speaker 2: that she was inside for about two hours and when
- 14:25Speaker 2: she came out she was no longer pregnant. A couple
- 14:28Speaker 2: of problems with that story. Hospital officials say they have
- 14:32Speaker 2: no record of Kelsey being here, and their security cameras.
- 14:36Speaker 3: Back that up.
- 14:37Speaker 2: They never went to park youw hospital, that's correct.
- 14:39Speaker 7: She went to the doctor. And what's she telling you
- 14:41Speaker 7: after that? But she was president that everything was fine.
- 14:45Speaker 8: Well, I think he tries to to come up with
- 14:48Speaker 8: stories to lay the foundation then that maybe she lost
- 14:53Speaker 8: the baby and she was upset she left town.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Do you think he's lying?
- 14:58Speaker 8: Absolutely?
- 14:59Speaker 9: Yeah, from Parkview she go to that She's in there
- 15:03Speaker 9: all our forty fives or an hour and a half hour,
- 15:08Speaker 9: forty five a car like you stay in the cars.
- 15:15Speaker 7: I'm not really the hospital type. I mean, she's having
- 15:19Speaker 7: a baby. Eat, you don't want to go in and see her.
- 15:22Speaker 2: Dante did seem sure of one thing. He claims he
- 15:25Speaker 2: might not be the daddy.
- 15:27Speaker 7: I'm not the only person like she's ever been with her,
- 15:29Speaker 7: even recently been with.
- 15:32Speaker 2: You heard right. Dante actually questions whether he was the
- 15:36Speaker 2: father of Kelsey's baby.
- 15:38Speaker 9: And she is anyway, their homes speaking, how DNA tests
- 15:41Speaker 9: and loss up before like it was the time.
- 15:43Speaker 2: Mind the identity theft charge was dropped because it was
- 15:48Speaker 2: revealed that Kelsey had given Dante permission to use her
- 15:51Speaker 2: debit card and even gave him her pen. Kelsey is
- 15:57Speaker 2: constantly on Captain Bravo's mind, and he keeps binders of
- 16:01Speaker 2: evidence on his desk as a reminder this is a
- 16:04Speaker 2: case he wants to solve. You think there's any possibility
- 16:07Speaker 2: that Kelsey's alive?
- 16:09Speaker 8: I don't think so. No.
- 16:11Speaker 3: What's your fear that there's nothing left? Ever, that we
- 16:18Speaker 3: can't find her? Ever?
- 16:22Speaker 2: Next, Hey, Dante, Crime Launch Daily tracks down Dante. She
- 16:27Speaker 2: was carrying your baby, Dante, I got some questions for
- 16:30Speaker 2: you and demands answers.
- 16:37Speaker 1: Who's this man in a hoodie? If police can determine that,
- 16:40Speaker 1: they may finally be able to solve the mysterious disappearance
- 16:43Speaker 1: of Kelsey Schilling right now, Kelsey's boyfriend at the time,
- 16:46Speaker 1: a former high school basketball phenom, is considered a strong
- 16:49Speaker 1: person of interest, so our Ana Garcia went to Colorado
- 16:52Speaker 1: to try and get his side of the story.
- 16:56Speaker 2: A shadowy figure lurks across the parking lot Clue number
- 17:01Speaker 2: one in the disappearance of Kelsey Shelling, twenty one years
- 17:04Speaker 2: old and eight weeks pregnant. What do you think happened
- 17:09Speaker 2: to Kelsey?
- 17:09Speaker 3: I think she was murdered.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Murdered. It's the word Kelsey's mom, Laura feared ever since
- 17:16Speaker 2: she vanished four years ago, but now that nightmare maybe
- 17:21Speaker 2: the new reality. Who do you think murdered her?
- 17:23Speaker 3: I think Dante murdered her.
- 17:25Speaker 2: Dante Lucas, Kelsey's boyfriend, a star on the college basketball team.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Her family says he's the father of her baby, and
- 17:33Speaker 2: they are convinced of his alleged involvement in Kelsey's disappearance.
- 17:38Speaker 2: Why I guess over the baby?
- 17:41Speaker 3: I mean, I can't think of any other explanation.
- 17:45Speaker 2: The family is so convinced Dante played a hand in
- 17:48Speaker 2: getting rid of Kelsey. At one point, they even filed
- 17:51Speaker 2: a civil wrongful death lawsuit against him. And they're not alone. Pueblo,
- 17:56Speaker 2: Colorado cops say they also suspect Dante may have killed Kelsey.
- 18:01Speaker 8: We know he's a last person that was with her,
- 18:03Speaker 8: last person to see her alive, the last person to
- 18:06Speaker 8: talk to her. I believe he did kill Kelsey.
- 18:10Speaker 2: Did Dante Lucas go from being a local high school
- 18:13Speaker 2: basketball star to a wanted man?
- 18:16Speaker 8: Yeah, he fell from being a high school basketball star
- 18:21Speaker 8: to somebody that works.
- 18:23Speaker 2: On jobs and is considered a person of interest in
- 18:26Speaker 2: a strong person of interest, Yes, police say this. Walmart
- 18:30Speaker 2: surveillance video shows Dante parking Kelsey's car at around twelve noon,
- 18:35Speaker 2: the day after she arrived in Pueblo to meet him.
- 18:39Speaker 2: But then this image from another Walmart camera shows a
- 18:42Speaker 2: different car, copsay belongs to his mother, Sarah, presumably waiting
- 18:47Speaker 2: to pick up Dante. Look at the timestamp, it says
- 18:51Speaker 2: twelve oh eight pm.
- 18:53Speaker 3: Do you think she had something to do with Kelsey's disappearance.
- 18:55Speaker 8: I can't discount that at this point, and.
- 18:58Speaker 2: No charges have ever been her related to this investigation.
- 19:03Speaker 2: But remember, a strange hooded figure was spotted on surveillance
- 19:06Speaker 2: cameras getting in and driving off Strangely, Kelsey's car was
- 19:11Speaker 2: ultimately found several days later at this hospital parking lot,
- 19:15Speaker 2: almost three and a half miles from the walmart. What
- 19:18Speaker 2: Kelsey's parents say cops found inside the car at the
- 19:21Speaker 2: hospital was bizarre. Peanuts were littered all over the seat,
- 19:27Speaker 2: Kelsey's beloved tie eyed teddy bear gone, and her rosary
- 19:32Speaker 2: beads missing. So who would take a rosary from the
- 19:38Speaker 2: rear view mirror that's hanging there.
- 19:41Speaker 3: I don't know who would take a stuffed teddy bear.
- 19:47Speaker 4: This car was trashed. I mean there's peanuts in the seat, gravel,
- 19:50Speaker 4: all over.
- 19:51Speaker 3: Did Kelsey even eat peanuts?
- 19:53Speaker 4: No, not that I know of it.
- 19:55Speaker 2: Despite what appears to be a mountain of circumstantial evidence,
- 19:59Speaker 2: cops of never arrested Dante in connection with her disappearance.
- 20:03Speaker 2: The seemingly slow wheels of justice in this case has
- 20:07Speaker 2: sparked angry protests in Pueblo, justice marchers carrying signs reading
- 20:15Speaker 2: Kelsey's life Matters, demanding cops arrest Dante, But Pueblo Police
- 20:20Speaker 2: Captain Eric Bravo says justice delayed doesn't necessarily mean justice denied. So, Captain,
- 20:28Speaker 2: if you suspect that Dante had something to do with
- 20:31Speaker 2: Kelsey's disappearance, why haven't you arrested him?
- 20:34Speaker 8: The case is very complex. We at this point, we
- 20:38Speaker 8: haven't located Kelsey's body. That's a major hurdle. It's a
- 20:42Speaker 8: puzzle to put together all those pieces need to come
- 20:45Speaker 8: together to form a picture to explain what happened, and
- 20:49Speaker 8: we need to be able to put that case together
- 20:52Speaker 8: to get a conviction in court.
- 20:53Speaker 2: So, if you don't find Kelsey's body, do you think
- 20:56Speaker 2: you'll ever charge anyone?
- 20:58Speaker 8: It's more difficult without is there any.
- 21:01Speaker 2: Reason you can't bring him back in for more questioning.
- 21:03Speaker 8: You know, I think at this point he knows he's
- 21:05Speaker 8: a person of interest and we may have only one
- 21:08Speaker 8: more shot at him, and we won't bring him in
- 21:11Speaker 8: until we have enough to arrest him.
- 21:14Speaker 2: Crime Watch Daily tried to contact Dante, but we couldn't
- 21:17Speaker 2: reach him, so we went to his house looking for answers.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Hey Dante. We found Dante leaving the home he shares
- 21:26Speaker 2: with his mother. Hey, Dante, can I talk to you
- 21:29Speaker 2: a second? Dante? It'sana Garcia from Crime Watch Daily. We
- 21:33Speaker 2: want to talk to you about Kelsey schulling. Dante. I
- 21:36Speaker 2: want to talk to you about Kelsey. She was carrying
- 21:39Speaker 2: your baby, Dante. I got some questions for you. Your story
- 21:42Speaker 2: doesn't make sense what you told the cops, Dante. He
- 21:47Speaker 2: drove off, not speaking a word. But his mother, Sarah
- 21:51Speaker 2: did speak to our Denver affiliate KDVR.
- 21:54Speaker 1: They've looked at our property. There's nothing to say my
- 21:57Speaker 1: son did anything wrong. What is there my motivation?
- 22:01Speaker 2: This week marks four years since Kelsey vanished. Have you
- 22:06Speaker 2: accepted the possibility that she might be dead?
- 22:09Speaker 7: Oh?
- 22:09Speaker 3: I know she's dead. I think there's less than a
- 22:12Speaker 3: one percent chance that she's alive.
- 22:15Speaker 2: If there were any opportunity for you to say anything
- 22:17Speaker 2: to Dante or his mother, What would you say?
- 22:20Speaker 3: My first question would just be why why did you
- 22:24Speaker 3: have to do this? You know, you could have just
- 22:27Speaker 3: walked away if you don't care about Kelsey? What about
- 22:30Speaker 3: your child?
- 22:31Speaker 8: You know?
- 22:31Speaker 3: Please just tell us where they are so that they
- 22:34Speaker 3: can be laid to rest.
- 22:36Speaker 2: Laura find strength in the Bible. She even bookmarked this
- 22:40Speaker 2: passage love your enemies. But she has faith and hope
- 22:44Speaker 2: that one day Kelsey will walk through that door and say, Mom,
- 22:48Speaker 2: I'm home. So what is there left for you to do?
- 22:51Speaker 8: Now?
- 22:54Speaker 3: I'll keep searching. I mean, I'm a founder yet, so
- 22:58Speaker 3: I have to keep searching for her because I can't.
- 23:02Speaker 3: I can't live the rest of my life like this.
- 23:06Speaker 4: I just can't.
- 23:07Speaker 3: So some people might think it's silly after four years
- 23:11Speaker 3: to keep going out and searching for her, But I
- 23:13Speaker 3: couldn't stop if I wanted to.
- 23:16Speaker 4: I couldn't.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Here to break down the facts of the case is
- 23:22Speaker 1: Attorney Jesse Weber. Jesse is always thank you for being here.
- 23:25Speaker 1: Why can't police make a case here against Dontane?
- 23:29Speaker 10: It's going to be very tough if there are no
- 23:31Speaker 10: new witnesses that come forward about what happened that night,
- 23:33Speaker 10: or maybe can shed some light on his relationship with
- 23:36Speaker 10: this young girl. And if there's no physical evidence directly
- 23:39Speaker 10: tying him to her disappearance or murder, it's going to
- 23:42Speaker 10: remain a cold.
- 23:43Speaker 1: Case based upon you looking into this case, what do
- 23:46Speaker 1: you think really happened?
- 23:47Speaker 10: When the case is reassigned to a new agency, which
- 23:50Speaker 10: it is, and they reevaluate the evidence, they see what's there,
- 23:53Speaker 10: what's not there, They interview new witnesses, they expand the
- 23:55Speaker 10: search area. I remember they said that there was a
- 23:57Speaker 10: lake nearby where there's potential incriminating clues about what happened
- 24:02Speaker 10: to this young lady. So they send divers down, They
- 24:04Speaker 10: send divers down, They see what's there. So a new
- 24:06Speaker 10: set of eyes can only do good things.
- 24:08Speaker 11: Jess, whoever thinks, is always repeated thanks to In remembrance
- 24:11Speaker 11: of the fourth anniversary of Kelsey's disappearance this month, her
- 24:14Speaker 11: mother says the reward is being increased for the entire
- 24:17Speaker 11: month of February from fifty thousand dollars to one hundred
- 24:20Speaker 11: thousand dollars, telling us the terms of the reward are
- 24:24Speaker 11: for the direct return or location of Kelsey.
- 24:26Speaker 1: We have to find Kelsey in order for the reward
- 24:28Speaker 1: to be given. Hopefully that will be incentive enough for
- 24:31Speaker 1: someone to break this code of silence and bring closure
- 24:34Speaker 1: to this family. Coming up, please say he was on
- 24:40Speaker 1: a mission to have sex with a girl young enough
- 24:42Speaker 1: to be his brand daughter. In All New Hanson Versus Predator,
- 24:45Speaker 1: the creepy voicemail, the actuated.
- 24:48Speaker 5: Tax you are parents' horse nightmare, and.
- 24:51Speaker 1: A bus that leads to a disturbing discovery in his
- 24:54Speaker 1: hotel room. That's next. We're back now with an all
- 25:00Speaker 1: New Hanson versus Predator. I teamed up with police in Fairfield,
- 25:04Speaker 1: Connecticut as they investigated men doing all sorts of bad
- 25:07Speaker 1: things with kids. They believed we're twelve or thirteen years old. Well,
- 25:10Speaker 1: today you're gonna meet one of the oldest suspects I've
- 25:13Speaker 1: ever come across, and I want to warn you some
- 25:15Speaker 1: of the phone calls he made will make your skin crawl.
- 25:19Speaker 1: Michael Genteel looks like he could be the grumpy old
- 25:22Speaker 1: grandfather next door. But what kind of sixth senior citizen
- 25:27Speaker 1: would send your kids a preferred picture like this or
- 25:31Speaker 1: leave your little girl the most disgusting force mails imaginable?
- 25:35Speaker 2: Hey, my little sex kitten.
- 25:37Speaker 3: How are you sweet?
- 25:39Speaker 1: Genteel is the latest creep I've caught in our special
- 25:42Speaker 1: investigative series Hanson Versus Predator.
- 25:45Speaker 5: I can't wait to kissue in the home shoe.
- 25:53Speaker 1: Over the years, I've caught more than three hundred of them.
- 25:55Speaker 5: Why don't you take a seat right over there.
- 25:59Speaker 1: So let me tell you, Genteel is one of the
- 26:01Speaker 1: worst I've ever seen. His aggressive attempts to seduce a
- 26:04Speaker 1: thirteen year old will turn your stomach. I want to
- 26:07Speaker 1: make you so happy, my little angel.
- 26:09Speaker 12: I love your baby so much.
- 26:11Speaker 1: And you'll be shocked when you hear what cops say
- 26:13Speaker 1: Genteel was planning.
- 26:15Speaker 6: A kitty porn manufacturing site.
- 26:18Speaker 1: Genteel is much older than most of the predators I catch.
- 26:21Speaker 1: He's sixty four. He says he's a limo driver, he
- 26:24Speaker 1: likes to play drums, and he loves to run around
- 26:27Speaker 1: in the nude. His email addresses it all love to
- 26:30Speaker 1: be naked. Our sting takes place in Fairfield, Connecticut, a
- 26:35Speaker 1: quintessential New England town some fifty miles from Manhattan. Predators
- 26:39Speaker 1: don't only roam the big city, patrol the suburbs too.
- 26:43Speaker 1: To be a guy like genteel driving across state lines
- 26:46Speaker 1: to have sex with a minor or even the guy
- 26:48Speaker 1: down the street, like Charles Lawrence.
- 26:51Speaker 5: No, Chris, what are you doing here?
- 26:54Speaker 1: I know Lawrence, we used to take the same commuter
- 26:57Speaker 1: train into the city. I was shocked when he showed
- 27:00Speaker 1: up at our stinghouse to chill with a thirteen year
- 27:02Speaker 1: old boy.
- 27:03Speaker 5: What are you doing here?
- 27:05Speaker 7: Chris?
- 27:05Speaker 5: Please?
- 27:07Speaker 1: I know, but you'd have to explain it. Come here,
- 27:10Speaker 1: man today it's genteel who's on the police radar. So
- 27:14Speaker 1: with the cooperation of the Fairfield cops, we set up
- 27:17Speaker 1: a sting operation. You should have that tast out, placing
- 27:19Speaker 1: more than a dozen hidden cameras all over in water bottles,
- 27:23Speaker 1: in trash cans and on the fence. The police are
- 27:26Speaker 1: also working with Tetrad Corps, a watchdog group working to
- 27:30Speaker 1: expose online predators.
- 27:32Speaker 5: I don't have sex or anything in this local guy.
- 27:36Speaker 1: That's Lori from Tetrad. She's one of the operatives who
- 27:39Speaker 1: communicates with the predators.
- 27:40Speaker 5: I'm just really scared.
- 27:42Speaker 2: Can you prove to me right now you don't have
- 27:43Speaker 2: a gun.
- 27:44Speaker 1: The on site decoy is a nineteen year old theater
- 27:46Speaker 1: student who is posing as a thirteen year old girl.
- 27:49Speaker 1: On social media, Tetrad posts innocuous pictures of real underage girls.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Tetrad never makes the first contact. It doesn't take long
- 27:57Speaker 1: for the rat named Genteel to crawl out of the
- 28:00Speaker 1: sewer and contact the decoy we will call Brittany Baaby.
- 28:05Speaker 1: Genteel sends pictures of himself naked, posing in front of
- 28:08Speaker 1: a mirror, in the woods, even sitting on the toilets.
- 28:12Speaker 1: His text messages are some of the raunchiest and most
- 28:14Speaker 1: disgusting imaginable. Many we can't even put on TV, but
- 28:19Speaker 1: most involve Genteel's love for nudity. I sent you a
- 28:22Speaker 1: picture on Skype. I am naked. I would kiss you
- 28:25Speaker 1: all over lol. Yesterday I went to a river upstate
- 28:28Speaker 1: and went nude sunbathing. Do you want to go with me? Lol?
- 28:32Speaker 1: Will you try sleeping naked tonight? I sleep naked every night.
- 28:36Speaker 1: He sends Brittany links to porn videos, asking her to
- 28:39Speaker 1: watch and learn. Remember, he thinks he's talking to a
- 28:42Speaker 1: thirteen year old girl. I want you to feel comfortable
- 28:46Speaker 1: looking at naked human bodies. I also want you to
- 28:49Speaker 1: learn what they're doing watching those movies. Is your sex education? Homework.
- 28:53Speaker 1: He says, I'm going to give you a test on
- 28:55Speaker 1: it tomorrow. Genteel asks her to get a banana and
- 28:58Speaker 1: do unmentionable. It's just practice for when the real thing
- 29:02Speaker 1: ever happens. I want you to imagine that the banana
- 29:05Speaker 1: is me. He reveals what could be interpreted as a
- 29:09Speaker 1: passion for pedophilia. We went on the tour today if
- 29:12Speaker 1: an old castle on the Hudson River. There were two
- 29:14Speaker 1: girls around your age. I was looking at those girls today,
- 29:17Speaker 1: thinking of you and getting so excited. What is even
- 29:21Speaker 1: more disturbing, Genteel sent pictures of what appears to be
- 29:24Speaker 1: child pornography. Then he asks Brittany something that will come
- 29:27Speaker 1: back to haunt him? Can I take pictures of you? Yeah?
- 29:30Speaker 1: Maybe lol. No one will see them though, right just me.
- 29:34Speaker 1: I would never want to see my sweetheart with anyone.
- 29:37Speaker 6: That is child pornography. There's a varying degree of what
- 29:41Speaker 6: their intent is, what their actions aren't, what they plan
- 29:44Speaker 6: to do.
- 29:45Speaker 1: After about a month of his almost constant texting, it's
- 29:48Speaker 1: time to reel in this slimy fish. Ted Trad's decoy
- 29:52Speaker 1: leaves him a message her parents will be gone the
- 29:54Speaker 1: following weekend, Genteel, who calls his wife the witch, tells
- 29:58Speaker 1: her he's going out to help a friend. He drives
- 30:01Speaker 1: thirty five miles from Brewster, New York to Fairfield. The
- 30:05Speaker 1: decoy asks him to come in through the side door.
- 30:09Speaker 1: Seconds after he's in the hallway, I'm sorry. Next the
- 30:19Speaker 1: confrontation and the shocking items found in his hotel room.
- 30:27Speaker 1: This sixty four year old New Yorker says he's a
- 30:30Speaker 1: limo driver, but investigators are hoping to give him a
- 30:32Speaker 1: ride in the back of a cop car. That's because
- 30:35Speaker 1: Michael Genteel has been carrying on a disgustingly dirty X
- 30:38Speaker 1: rated conversation with the girl he thinks he is only
- 30:40Speaker 1: thirteen years old. It's today's Hanson versus predator. If you
- 30:46Speaker 1: look at the Dictionary definition of a predator, you'll probably
- 30:50Speaker 1: see the phase of Michael Genteel.
- 30:54Speaker 3: My little angel, I love you so much.
- 30:57Speaker 1: Genteel left that creepy message for our decoy from her text.
- 31:01Speaker 1: He clearly knows that she says she's only thirteen of
- 31:04Speaker 1: the text he sent her will make you sick. Do
- 31:07Speaker 1: you think you could take a picture of your blank
- 31:09Speaker 1: for me? Feel sexy about yourself and take a picture.
- 31:13Speaker 1: Are you going to take a picture for me after
- 31:15Speaker 1: you shower? Why is Genteel so focused on getting pictures
- 31:19Speaker 1: of a thirteen year old. He's sixty four, old enough
- 31:22Speaker 1: to be the girl's grandfather, but he's texting like an
- 31:26Speaker 1: over sex boy wanting to go steady. You're my girlfriend
- 31:30Speaker 1: and I'm your boyfriend. I love you so much, my angel.
- 31:33Speaker 1: I can't wait to hold you in my arms and
- 31:35Speaker 1: know that you are actually mine. He thinks that day
- 31:41Speaker 1: is about to come. But what this predator doesn't know
- 31:45Speaker 1: is that the only embraced he'll be getting is the
- 31:48Speaker 1: long arm of the law. After an hour drive, Gentil
- 31:54Speaker 1: arrives at the stinghouse. He parks his car down the street,
- 31:57Speaker 1: lurking up to the door. He comes inside For just
- 32:01Speaker 1: a moment, it almost seems like it's going as planned,
- 32:03Speaker 1: But then when he gets inside the door, it seems
- 32:13Speaker 1: Grandpa has his antennae for more than sex, and suddenly
- 32:17Speaker 1: he bolts, yeah, come here.
- 32:24Speaker 7: Maas.
- 32:28Speaker 1: Looks like I won't get a chance to invite Grandpa.
- 32:30Speaker 1: Genteel to have a seat, But outside a dozen cops
- 32:34Speaker 1: are waiting for him.
- 32:36Speaker 5: Andy Anya, just a little knife and m lumpy.
- 32:38Speaker 1: He is only day to night with detectives at headquarters
- 32:41Speaker 1: at the Sea. There the officers search him a second time.
- 32:47Speaker 1: They find a key card for a local hotel. Gentil
- 32:51Speaker 1: lives only an hour away, why would he need a room.
- 32:56Speaker 1: As detectives wait for a judge to issue a search
- 32:59Speaker 1: warrant for the hotel room, they start the booking process
- 33:03Speaker 1: and the line of questioning he would have faced in
- 33:05Speaker 1: the kitchen.
- 33:06Speaker 7: With me.
- 33:08Speaker 5: Marry, soon to be.
- 33:13Speaker 1: Married, soon to be divorced, meaning he knew this at
- 33:17Speaker 1: some point was going to be on TV in a
- 33:18Speaker 1: hansom versus Predator investigation, and I wasn't going to go
- 33:21Speaker 1: over well at home. Remember, Genteel told his wife, who
- 33:24Speaker 1: he affectionately calls the Witch, he was going out to
- 33:27Speaker 1: help a friend. She has n't a clue. He was
- 33:30Speaker 1: going out to meet a teen cops take his fingerprints,
- 33:35Speaker 1: just relax, his mugshot. Here we go, and then he
- 33:40Speaker 1: learns how much his veil will be.
- 33:43Speaker 7: Your bond is five hundred thousand dollars.
- 33:47Speaker 1: The cops tell him he's got one phone call wife.
- 33:53Speaker 1: Now Genteel makes the call married predator's dread, I mean
- 33:58Speaker 1: jail tell telling the wife he's under arrest for trying
- 34:02Speaker 1: to sleep with a thirteen year old.
- 34:04Speaker 5: I went to meet somebody and this and that she's
- 34:07Speaker 5: an theer ageus son. I don't know.
- 34:09Speaker 1: She apparently thinks this is a big joke.
- 34:11Speaker 5: This is this is not a joke. If you want,
- 34:20Speaker 5: you can call back on police a farm and I
- 34:21Speaker 5: can give you that number.
- 34:25Speaker 1: It might be easier for Genteel to speak with detectives
- 34:28Speaker 1: who take him to the interrogation room, where he signs
- 34:31Speaker 1: away his right to remain silent.
- 34:33Speaker 5: What is your reason to be a fair ful Connecticut?
- 34:35Speaker 7: Today?
- 34:35Speaker 5: I was meeting I thought a friend towing.
- 34:39Speaker 1: A movie, and like many of the men we catch,
- 34:41Speaker 1: he claims he thought the girl was an adult. His
- 34:44Speaker 1: little kitten tells him she's only thirteen years old.
- 34:49Speaker 12: How old was your friend? I, as far as I understood,
- 34:52Speaker 12: she was in her thirties.
- 34:56Speaker 5: What was your dialogue between the two yo?
- 34:58Speaker 12: Just different things about every everything like sex to school, you.
- 35:05Speaker 5: Know, sex to school? Yeah? Everything? Parents? And you know,
- 35:08Speaker 5: do you go to school?
- 35:09Speaker 7: No?
- 35:10Speaker 5: Is a thirty year old go to school?
- 35:13Speaker 7: She said?
- 35:13Speaker 5: She did? What school? She said?
- 35:15Speaker 7: She was just.
- 35:15Speaker 5: Studying at home. Thirty year old studying at home? Yeah?
- 35:19Speaker 5: But whose house. Is that there right?
- 35:21Speaker 7: That to hers?
- 35:22Speaker 5: I know it's hers, hers our parents. Thirty year old
- 35:26Speaker 5: lives in our parents. Do you understand the charges that
- 35:29Speaker 5: I told you? Yeah, I didn't know she was a minor.
- 35:33Speaker 7: That you didn't know she was a mine.
- 35:34Speaker 12: No, I thought she told me she was younger. But
- 35:37Speaker 12: I thought we would just do the role play. But
- 35:40Speaker 12: I think when I first met her, she said she
- 35:42Speaker 12: was thirty four or thirty.
- 35:43Speaker 5: Six or something. You're out there a lot on social media. Yeah,
- 35:49Speaker 5: so what's the what's the common name you're you using?
- 35:54Speaker 5: Michael another would love to be naked? You don't frank
- 36:01Speaker 5: with you?
- 36:02Speaker 7: Dan?
- 36:04Speaker 5: Yeah? Okay, all right, so we know you were here
- 36:11Speaker 5: to meet somebody. Okay, we know we know that. Okay,
- 36:16Speaker 5: but she didn't never.
- 36:17Speaker 13: Said she was thirty or thirty four years old. She
- 36:19Speaker 13: said she was thirteen. When I okay, well time, when
- 36:24Speaker 13: I first when I first found her picture, it was
- 36:27Speaker 13: said she was thirty four.
- 36:29Speaker 5: No, that doesn't I'm thirteen.
- 36:34Speaker 14: Said about in your response is thirteen? Now that's gorgeous. Okay,
- 36:41Speaker 14: So you're the modest to believe that a thirty year
- 36:43Speaker 14: old momment was well playing about thirteen. She's still playing
- 36:47Speaker 14: her own. Yeah, even when you tell her you're old
- 36:50Speaker 14: enough to.
- 36:50Speaker 7: Be your grandfather, I guess so. Yeah, you know what?
- 36:55Speaker 1: Stop, how's that sound right?
- 37:00Speaker 7: All right?
- 37:02Speaker 1: You are parents' horse nightmare.
