- 0:05Anna and David were a happy couple. They' d met in high school.
- 0:09As the hours of recess passed. David fell in love with Anna his
- 0:14walk and as her hair moved with the wind. Ana likewise, when she
- 0:18met David, she fell at her feet because of her charisma and great sense
- 0:22of humor. It was love at first sight. They were always together.
- 0:27Nothing and no one can separate them. Everyone said he was the perfect couple,
- 0:32since they never fought or had problems, and when they had them,
- 0:36they solved us together. Both were supportive and words of encouragement were given.
- 0:40In the dark days. His love was too great and unbreakable. That relationship
- 0:46lasted many years and resulted in a spectacular wedding, a great party full of
- 0:51happiness along with friends, family and loved ones the couple with their savings,
- 0:57bought their home, where they were willing to create a family within a home
- 1:00full of love. It wasn' t long before they had a stable home
- 1:07for the couple. They knew it was time to have a new member in
- 1:10the family. Their hearts longed for the sweet gift of fatherhood, to have
- 1:15a baby that would give life to their existence. However, not everything could
- 1:18be perfect and fate seemed to have denied them such a deep- rooted desire
- 1:25as they tried, they could not conceive of dwarf life. They had consulted
- 1:30renowned fertility doctors who had given them a cruel reality one after the other.
- 1:38The probability of conceiving a child was almost non- existent. The diagnoses were
- 1:44varied, but all shared the same warning. There was little hope and they
- 1:49were better advised to choose the option of adopting a small one, but they
- 1:53refused to do so. They knew if they kept trying, they' d
- 1:57finally make it. The months passed. Ana and David underwent countless treatments,
- 2:05exhausted their savings in costly therapies and medical procedures, but the result was always
- 2:10the same. An empty space in his home, a place in a crib
- 2:15waiting to be occupied by a small being who seemed to refuse to enter that
- 2:21home that Anna and David had built with much love. The house that once
- 2:25contained laughter and joy gradually transformed into a space with overwhelming silence, interrupted only
- 2:30by the cries of Ana, who at night felt more vulnerable by the misfortune
- 2:35that accompanied her, the tension in her marriage grew as a threatening shadow and
- 2:40the whispers of doubt and resentment. What had never happened in the relationship at
- 2:47last had come indifference in eye and frustration. David found the courage to share
- 2:54it with Anna and not to bring it down. After all, the love
- 3:00of the two of them. In spite of everything, even the aunt with
- 3:04intensity one night, as they watched the moon from the window of her room,
- 3:09Anne felt a presence watching her. The air felt very heavy, as
- 3:15if something or someone else were present in his room. Hidden in the dark.
- 3:20David solved the problem by saying it was tired because of the situation they
- 3:24were living. She hugged Anna tightly, kissed her head and took her to
- 3:29bed to sleep. That same night, David had a dream in him.
- 3:35David entered a room painted with drawings of babies, a blue wall, toys
- 3:39and stuffed animals filled the room and in the center a crib. David in
- 3:45the dream was drawn to the cradle and one thing that caught his attention was
- 3:49the crying of a little one. Apparently, he was inside that crib.
- 3:54As she approached the cradle, Anna appeared entering the room with a mommy calling
- 3:59in her hand, raising the little one and giving him her vibron. Ana
- 4:02with the baby in her arm, smiled at David and said look at him
- 4:06is your son, David, woke up with weeping eyes, looked at his
- 4:12wife, was sleeping, caressed her hair and that' s when she made
- 4:16the decision to do anything so that she could bring that dream to reality.
- 4:21David had consulted the best specialist doctors, the best methods, but none served
- 4:28him, so he saw the need to explore less conventional paths. The couple
- 4:34began to investigate ancient legends and went into the area of the occult in search
- 4:40of answers that no other doctor could offer them. However, these mythical processes
- 4:46were not quite so sure. Ana felt that it was not a good option
- 4:51to choose that path, so she made them stop what David was a little
- 4:56upset about Ana' s decision doubted if she really wanted to have the baby
- 5:00Ana got upset. They started arguing. David decided to listen for a while
- 5:06and return until he was calmer. The cold and dark night had fallen.
- 5:13David walked through the darkest park in the city, which was next to a
- 5:16large mountain that, on the other side, connected with the cemetery of the
- 5:20city, focused on his thoughts and the dream of that night. Suddenly,
- 5:26as he was on his way to a bench to sit down, he noticed
- 5:30a lonely woman sitting on a bench. His presence seemed unusual in that place.
- 5:35Late at night. She was tall and thin, with a long black
- 5:41hair falling on her shoulders and her skin had a peculiar shine under the light
- 5:46of the full moon. The woman immediately noticed David' s presence and with
- 5:50an enigmatic smile, looked up at him and his eyes of an intense brown
- 5:56color stared at him, as if they knew his deepest thoughts, as if
- 6:01he had seen his whole life pass with just looking at him. He approached
- 6:06him and David could not help but feel a mixture of fear and curiosity,
- 6:11for he did not know that he wanted such a strange woman. The woman
- 6:15faced David, approached his ear and said in a soft but mysterious tone.
- 6:20David I have heard your wishes and I regret your suffering. I know you
- 6:26want a son more than anything in the world and tonight, under the full
- 6:29moon, you have a unique chance. David looked at her with surprise.
- 6:34How did this woman know about her innermost desire, a desire that only he
- 6:39and his wife knew. Curiosity led him to ask who you are how you
- 6:45know this. The woman smiled with a smile that seemed to have centuries of
- 6:50wisdom and mysteries I am someone who has existed among the shadows, someone who
- 6:56has seen the birth and death of infinite amounts of dreams. Tonight. If
- 7:00you follow my Council you will be able to realize your desire to procreate along
- 7:05with your beloved and thus fulfill his greatest longing. David looked at her with
- 7:11despair and hope. His words had impacted within him. Apparently, he had
- 7:15been convinced by a warm light of hope that illuminated David’ s life He
- 7:23immediately asked what I should do. She came even closer and quietly revealed to
- 7:26her an ancient ritual that, according to her, only he should know.
- 7:30He told her that he would have to do it when the moon was under
- 7:33the mountain in its greatest glow and after that, he would have to go
- 7:38home to his wife and make love to her as if it were the first
- 7:42and last time he did. She assured him that later life would reach Anna
- 7:46' s womb. He warned her not to share it with anyone, not
- 7:50even his beloved wife. Only thus assured the strange woman, the desired child
- 7:57could come into their lives. Davida felt she accepted the mysterious offer that extended
- 8:03before him. He knew that what he was doing was against his beliefs,
- 8:09but his desire for a son had led him to a point of unimaginable despair.
- 8:15David looked at the moon almost time to do the ritual. Before she
- 8:18left, the woman warned one last thing. The baby miracle would come with
- 8:24a price one he could know when the time came. This uncertainty troubled him
- 8:30deeply, but he also felt that he was willing to pay any price to
- 8:35make his dream of being a father come true. David looked up into the
- 8:39sky. When he looked down at the woman he had disappeared back into the
- 8:43sun. The look at the full moon was approaching the exact point. David
- 8:48quickly ran to the top of the mountain. He prepared to perform the ritual.
- 8:52That the strange woman had revealed to him could not help but feel a
- 8:58mixture of emotion and fear, but he was willing to do anything to give
- 9:03his wife the gift they both so desired. At the end of the ritual,
- 9:07an air struck David. He thought it was a sign, but it
- 9:11wasn' t over yet. I had to go with Ana to finish the
- 9:16ritual so that the baby would soon come into their lives. David returned and
- 9:18quickly sought out Anna. Unfortunately, she found her sitting there looking at the
- 9:24window, thinking about the situation that was going on. David took a chair
- 9:28and sat next to it. He began to speak to her in a very
- 9:33tender way, as if he were conquering her. For the first time he
- 9:37gave her the best words of encouragement anyone had ever said. He took her
- 9:41by the hand. He caused him to rise from the chair, both of
- 9:46them looking face to face, and David said I will always love you despite
- 9:50all the adversities that come upon us and take you with me all my life.
- 9:54He kissed his forehead. Ana kissed him passionately. They joined their bodies
- 9:58as they had never done as if it had been a farewell, but in
- 10:03the end the ritual was over. There was just waiting. The days passed
- 10:09became weeks and finally, after months of uncertainty, for David, Anna any
- 10:13day, when her beloved returned home, announced with tears in her eyes and
- 10:18excited that she was pregnant. The news filled their lives with joy and hope
- 10:26what they had been waiting for years. At last happiness had arrived and the
- 10:30color returned home. David seemed to have temporarily forgotten the mysterious woman' s
- 10:37strange warning. Ana' s pregnancy progressed smoothly and the couple prepared to welcome
- 10:43her son with enthusiasm and love. David set out to prepare the room he
- 10:48had seen in his dream. He filled it with stuffed toys. He bought
- 10:54baby clothes all he needed to make sure that he didn' t need anything
- 10:58on the baby' s arrival. However, as time passed, David began
- 11:03to experience disturbing visions and strange dreams that tormented him at night. Images of
- 11:11an indistinct shadow and figure lurked in the corners of his mind. David began
- 11:16to worry about the baby' s condition, to which he asked Anne every
- 11:20moment if she was well in health and mentally, Ana, at first she
- 11:24understood the concern, but she came to a point where she made it and
- 11:30told her a little upset that when she felt bad, she would let her
- 11:33know. David forgot the worries and went for a walk to relax the.
- 11:37Mind, walking through the lonely streets, the mysterious woman reappeared in her life,
- 11:43with her penetrating gaze and enigmatic smile. David whispered. It' s
- 11:48time to stick to your end of the bargain. The price for the baby
- 11:54miracle is in front of you, but only you can make this decision.
- 11:58David, distressed and confused, asked him what the woman should do, explained
- 12:05that at some point, during Anna' s birth, a critical choice would
- 12:09be presented. An unusual and frightening event would arise and he would have to
- 12:15decide whether to go ahead with the birth, despite the cost or to have
- 12:18it to avoid the price he still did not know.“ Your child’
- 12:22s fate depends on your choice,” the woman said,“ and once
- 12:28you make that decision, there will be no turning back. Darkness has made,
- 12:31but only you can face it with your heart. In a fist and
- 12:37mind full of doubts. He realized that he was facing the most difficult decision
- 12:41of his life, but he was willing to risk everything for his family.
- 12:46But the price of the miracle was still a mystery that tormented him. The
- 12:50woman disappeared among the passing cars. David returned home and as he entered he
- 12:56saw his wife very happy. The baby had given his first pasta. They
- 13:01took Ana to the doctor. The next morning they were able to see their
- 13:05son for the first time. The baby did not move much, but moved
- 13:07both people what they had so much desired. I was finally making it happen.
- 13:13David said it was a dream from which he did not want to awaken
- 13:18himself. She approached Anna' s womb and spoke with love. I won
- 13:20' t let anything bad happen to you. Time never passed. The full
- 13:26moon night was approaching again and with it the scheduled date for Ana' s
- 13:31birth. David was trapped in a sea of emotions. In a few hours,
- 13:35he would finally meet his son, who would come from the woman he
- 13:39had loved most in his life for nothing could go wrong. I was living.
- 13:45The perfect dream hugged his wife and set out to sleep. The next
- 13:50morning would be a long day. David fell from exhaustion and anxiety for months.
- 13:58He entered a deep sleep, where he found himself in his home with
- 14:03Anna and her newborn within his cradle, wrapped in a happiness they had longed
- 14:07for for so long. It was the perfect scene, a vision of the
- 14:13family they had always wanted to have. However, the tranquility was disturbed by
- 14:20the arrival of a disquieting shadow that moved in the corners of the room.
- 14:24The mysterious woman came out of the shadows. His figure was sliding into the
- 14:30baby' s crib. David felt a knot in his stomach as he watched
- 14:35impotently as she held the child in her arms. What are you doing?
- 14:39David shouted in his dream, but his words seemed to fade away. In
- 14:43the air of the nightmare she looked at Anna, but she remained motionless,
- 14:48without any expression or movement. The woman looked at him with her eyes.
- 14:54His macabre expression is the price of the miracle. David whispered in a tone
- 14:58that permeated his before the life of your son. It' s the price
- 15:03and it' s time to claim it. The horror of that nightmare gripped
- 15:07David as he watched the woman walk away with her newborn in her arms.
- 15:13Her screams resounded in the darkness of her sleep, but it was impossible to
- 15:18stop her She immediately woke up sweating and beating uncontrollably with her heart. It
- 15:22was dawning and the sun was rising. Birds sang, people on the outside
- 15:28laughed. It was all happiness. The baby was few hours away from reaching
- 15:33this world the life trapped in the terror of the dream he had had.
- 15:37He had several unresolved thoughts and questions. It was just a dream or a
- 15:43premonition of what was to come. Before Ana' s birth, David went
- 15:48for a walk immediately to clear her mind, but something caused her to enter
- 15:52the park, where she had first met the mysterious woman. Already there he
- 15:58remembered that dream of the night before and began to wish to find answers.
- 16:03A logical explanation for the events that had been taking place and as if their
- 16:08desires came true. The woman appeared among the shadows of the trees. The
- 16:15desperate man approached the woman. I wanted answers immediately. The woman noticed David
- 16:19' s concern and spoke first. David has come the time to face the
- 16:25truth. The price of the miracle. It' s a life in exchange
- 16:29for the life you' ve longed for so much. You' ll have
- 16:33to choose your wife or your son. At the time of hearing those words,
- 16:37coming out of the woman’ s mouth, David was overwhelmed by an
- 16:41impossible decision that had to be made. He loved his wife and wanted to
- 16:45have a child. With all his being He was in a dilemma that would
- 16:48lead him to sacrifice one life to give life to another. The woman continued.
- 16:55Remember David the fate of your family is in your hands. But keep
- 17:00in mind that each election will have consequences and I will be present in each
- 17:04of them. And there' s no turning back. David was paralyzed by
- 17:08the gravity of the situation. I knew I couldn' t escape this curse.
- 17:14The price of the miracle I had so much dreamed of would be higher
- 17:18than I would ever have imagined. His wife' s life or that of
- 17:22his son depended on a thread and the choice he had to make would lead
- 17:26him to face a dilemma that challenged the limits of his love and despair.
- 17:32David, desperate for the situation he was in and thinking of all possible scenarios,
- 17:36received an urgent call from his wife as he ran home. Since the
- 17:41encounter with the woman, the baby was on his way and he didn'
- 17:48t have time to think about his decision. The couple arrived at the hospital,
- 17:52which was a chaos of activity. When David and Anna arrived, the
- 17:56nurses and doctors rushed to prepare Anna for delivery. Anxiety consumed him while he
- 18:03waited in the hall of the operating room, knowing that the time of election
- 18:07was near. Inside the O R, Ana struggled with the pain of childbirth.
- 18:12His screams filled the room. David completely alone in the hallway felt trapped
- 18:18between two sides, that of his wife and that of the mysterious woman who
- 18:22had placed him. In this terrible situation, the woman’ s words had
- 18:27made David forget the illusion that made him have a child. She was walking
- 18:33around the hall and Anna kept screaming from the pain. Doctors supporting the woman.
- 18:38David as he turned back, plucked his hair out of despair, and
- 18:42suddenly the spotlights in the hallway began to blink. David searched everywhere, knowing
- 18:49that she was there. He was turning but nothing until he finally showed up
- 18:55in front of her. His chilling voice, his words became present and imbued
- 18:59with nr with a great echo. She or baby David chooses. David’
- 19:04s heart accelerated as he faced the unimaginable decision to make. He was to
- 19:11save his wife from the love of her life, but losing her son or
- 19:17sacrificing Anna to bring to life the baby they had so passionately desired for her
- 19:22mind. They spent all the beautiful moments with Anna, from the time they
- 19:26met in high school until the last time love had consumed them. Tears flooded
- 19:33David’ s eyes, as his mind debated between love for his wife and
- 19:37the life of his son. At birth the waiting room became a whirl of
- 19:41mixed emotions, while the seconds became an endless agony within the operating room.
- 19:51Anna was still struggling to give birth without suspecting the tragedy her husband was going
- 19:56through. The mysterious woman continued to err waiting, prolonging the suffering of Ana
- 20:03' s birth and the arrival of baby David in the midst of overwhelming pressure
- 20:07of choice. He felt his legs shaking and collapsing in the hallway. Tears
- 20:14flooded, her eyes lowered her head and her broken voice could barely whisper.
- 20:18She, my wife, the mysterious woman, slowly faded into the dark as
- 20:26she smiled and said goodbye to David. She would have achieved her goal,
- 20:30a life for another life. The O R was filled with a gloomy silence
- 20:36when Ana' s voice stopped listening. The baby was born and his crying
- 20:40was noticed in there, but the joy of that moment was mixed with the
- 20:45tragedy. David, with his heart broken, eagerly awaited the news that he
- 20:51already knew. The doctor left the operating room with a severe expression on his
- 20:56face. Anna had died during the game. Her life had been sacrificed to
- 21:02give birth to her child' s crying. It became a heartbreaking echo of
- 21:07the tragedy that had happened. David entered the operating room to see his newborn
- 21:12son, a mixture of love and pain, holding the little one in his
- 21:17arms and watching them take away the woman he loved during his life. The
- 21:22mysterious woman, though having performed her part of the bargain, had left an
- 21:27indelible scar in David’ s heart. The following months were marked by a
- 21:33gloomy silence in David' s life, raising the baby alone without his beloved
- 21:38Anna at his side, became an emotional challenge. Although he had accomplished the
- 21:44miracle of fatherhood, he had lost the woman he loved the most. Every
- 21:48time the baby cried. The memory of that day that was supposed to be
- 21:52the best of their lives tormented him. The baby, named by Danyo,
- 21:57grew up in an atmosphere of sadness, haste and loneliness. Although David did
- 22:02all he could to give him love and care, As time passed, he
- 22:07began to show a disquieting personality, as if carrying with him a burden of
- 22:11darkness that came from the choice that had led to his birth. As the
- 22:18little one grew older, strange events became more and more frequent. David found
- 22:25objects elsewhere, heard laughter from a woman, and sometimes had fleeting visions of
- 22:30a shadow lurking around him. Daniel, the child, who had been the
- 22:36result of a tragic choice, seemed to be connected to his mother' s
- 22:41presence in some inexplicable way. Years passed. In the end, David was
- 22:47able to give him the love of a father and mother he was always giving
- 22:52him the affection that both had kept for him. As time progressed. Daniel
- 22:56became an adult and David grew old. Daniel found love so he married young.
- 23:00His father could sense the happiness of the couple. He reminded him of
- 23:06those times when he too had experienced love. It' s been months.
- 23:10Daniel told his father that he wanted to have a daughter, but he couldn
- 23:14' t give that daughter to his wife. His father was reminded of the
- 23:18dark days that passed. He advised them to choose to adopt that if doctors
- 23:23saw it impossible, adoption was the best option. Damage was surprised by the
- 23:30Council given to him by his father, who had always struggled to get what
- 23:34he wanted. His father had already experienced that anguish and did not want his
- 23:40son to go through the same thing. On a sunny day, Daniel arrived
- 23:45happily at his father' s house. He asked her why she was so
- 23:48happy. The son replied that his wife was pregnant. When David heard that,
- 23:52he hugged the son very strongly, congratulated him, and when he released
- 23:57him he saw behind his son the woman who had taken him from his beloved.
- 24:02Daniel replied that he was very grateful with life for putting on his way
- 24:06a woman he had found in the park, who assured him that if he
- 24:10performed a certain ritual under the moon they would have the son they so loved.
- 24:15David shuddered. The woman looked at him nodded as she pointed to Daniel
- 24:19the curse had returned to her life and death once again stalked David' s
- 24:26life. My name is Sara. I' m from Mexico City and I
- 24:34was twenty- eight when I decided to take a vacation in a cabin,
- 24:41in a place called Puerto del Aire. The daily routine in the city was
- 24:45weighing me down and I needed an escape, a place where I could disconnect
- 24:49from the stress and agitation constantly surrounding me. Life in Mexico City was very
- 24:55fast between going and coming on the subway. The hours I made from my
- 25:00house to my work I couldn' t anymore. In addition, I had
- 25:04had several problems at home and was falling into depression, so it was the
- 25:10perfect time to take a well- deserved vacation. My friend had told me
- 25:15about those cabins because a year before she had gone with her boyfriend and the
- 25:18truth sounded quite interesting. He told me that there was an area where animals
- 25:25were protected as deer and the truth caught my attention longing to be somewhere other
- 25:30than Mexico City. The cabin I rented was located in the small port of
- 25:37Aire, just outside a small village. What attracted me most was its proximity
- 25:41to a beautiful lagoon that extended majestically in front of the cabin. The waters
- 25:48of the lagoon looked like a dark mirror surrounded by leafy trees that reflected on
- 25:52its calm surface. I left on a Sunday. I thought I' d
- 25:59spend the whole week getting back the next one to get back to work and
- 26:03my daily life. I took a bus that took me to Orizaba and then
- 26:07one that took me to the entrance to Puerto del Aire. I had to
- 26:11walk long enough to get to my cabin. The weather was very cold.
- 26:15There was even fog reaching the ground. He was shaking, even though he
- 26:19was wearing a very thick jacket. The journey was very heavy for me because
- 26:26of the cold and the weight of the suitcases. I walked about forty-
- 26:30five minutes and arrived at about ten in the morning. I was already very
- 26:36tired and I really needed to rest and drink something hot because I was freezing.
- 26:41As far as I know, the place is a dangerous thing. Normally
- 26:45locals don' t accept anyone there because they don' t trust, but
- 26:52those cabins that gave something away from them. Finally, I came to the
- 26:56cabin and although I couldn' t see much of the fog, I loved
- 26:59it. The place. I could be alone, because there was no Internet
- 27:03or entertainment so to speak, but I couldn' t be happier with that
- 27:08at work. I was stuck to the computer to cell noise fights and everything
- 27:15so being in a place like that caused me a lot of calm, although
- 27:18I had no idea that my stay there was going to have the opposite effect,
- 27:22and I was going to long to be in my scandalous city again.
- 27:26From the moment I arrived at the place I found it disturbing, although it
- 27:30was very nice. There was something in the air and in the lagoon that
- 27:34didn' t convince me at all. The lagoon seemed plunged into a strange
- 27:40gloom. My friend had told me that when she was there, the locals
- 27:44had told her boyfriend that in the lagoon there were strange events that occurred in
- 27:48the evenings stories of lights on the surface of the water and whispers emerging from
- 27:52the thickness of the place or the fog, even shadows coming out of the
- 27:57water. But I was also reassured to know that something similar never happened to
- 28:03them. She told me they had an amazing time, very relaxed and carefree.
- 28:08The cold was good for the skin and silence for the mind. The
- 28:14day was quiet. That' s where I pulled a chair out of the
- 28:18cabin and stood in front of the lagoon. You couldn' t swim in
- 28:21that place. It was very dangerous, so you had to resign yourself to
- 28:25contemplate the beauty of the place. But there was a little lake nearby where
- 28:30you could swim. But, well, at the time it was the least
- 28:33I wanted because the cold was very strong. I had a hot coffee and
- 28:38dived into my thoughts. I tried to meditate and felt very calm, as
- 28:44I was happy to be away from the city. The night went by without
- 28:48a problem. I slept like I never felt very happy. In the morning
- 28:53I went for a run and it cost me a lot, because fog does
- 28:56not allow me to see well. Later, at about twelve o' clock
- 29:00in the day, the sun came up and comforted the day with its heat
- 29:04and the fog slowly dissipated and the day was completely beautiful. I felt like
- 29:10I was never there and inside I was grateful to my friend for her recommendation.
- 29:15On the way I met a lady who was already old. I greeted
- 29:19her and asked my name. Then she asked me where I came from and
- 29:25I answered her and she told me to be very careful with the lagoon,
- 29:30because the drowning had already wanted to take many people drowning in the lagoon.
- 29:34That stayed in my mind. I tried to process what I was saying,
- 29:38but I thought because of his age I didn' t know what he was
- 29:41saying and I went to the cabin. I was upset because that lady had
- 29:45made me think and the truth if I had created some fear, but I
- 29:51wanted to think that the lady didn' t know what I was saying and
- 29:55nothing or anyone would ruin my vacation, as I was in the cabin and
- 30:00lay down a later I ate something and went out to the lagoon. When
- 30:03night came in the cabin, the silence was overwhelming and I was alone in
- 30:08the middle of nowhere, surrounded by trees and with the lagoon facing something I
- 30:14had not even thought about the night before. But even if I did not
- 30:18want to, the words of the lady had made me think much and much
- 30:22more, because it was already night, the air was cold and the fog
- 30:27persisted creating a sense of isolation that I had never experienced before, even though
- 30:33I sought tranquility, I felt uneasy at that time, while dining in the
- 30:40small kitchen of the cabin, I heard strange sounds, coming from outside.
- 30:45They were incomprehensible whispers, sliding through the trees. I tried to ignore them
- 30:52and convince myself that they were just the wind and fog, playing with my
- 30:56senses, but I couldn' t help but feel scared, so after dinner,
- 31:00I decided to lie down early, because the cabin was cozy, but
- 31:04every sound outside of it made me jump and as the night went on,
- 31:08the whispers became more audible. They were voices, whisperers and mysterious ones that
- 31:15seemed to be everywhere. At the same time I covered my head with blankets
- 31:18and closed my eyes tightly, wishing that everything was the product of my imagination,
- 31:23although to tell the truth, the dawn brought with it a new level
- 31:27of terror. Lights began to blink on the surface of the lagoon and could
- 31:33be seen in the darkness of the cabin. They were pale flashes and I
- 31:37could even say beautiful, they moved strangely. My heart was pounding as I
- 31:44watched these lights dance on the water. I felt something dark and unknown hiding
- 31:48beneath the surface. Suddenly, the lights went out and the whisper intensified and
- 31:55it seemed to me that the shadows were moving among the trees near the cabin.
- 32:00I was paralyzed by fear, unable to move or scream, and the
- 32:04whisper turned into unintelligible murmurs that seemed to be directed at me. Desperate to
- 32:10escape this nightmare, I grabbed my mobile phone and tried to call my friend,
- 32:15but there was no signal I was completely isolated and vulnerable. The night
- 32:22became eternal and the whispers and shadows continued to lie on my bed. Suddenly
- 32:27I thought maybe it was sleep paralysis alone, but I could move, so
- 32:31I discarded that theory. I was becoming more and more certain that something sinister
- 32:37lived in the lagoon, something that perhaps if it was the woman the lady
- 32:40had told me about at noon, but there were many murmurs of many people,
- 32:46so I didn' t understand what was going on. I wondered if
- 32:51my friend and her boyfriend had hidden something, if they had lived a similar
- 32:55experience and never mentioned it, but that made no sense at dawn. He
- 33:01finally came by dissipating the fog and shadows with relief. I saw the lights
- 33:07disappear in the lagoon. I left the cabin and thought seriously that all I
- 33:10had ever lived was his management. It couldn' t be real. Besides,
- 33:15it was a big coincidence that the first night had a good time and
- 33:20that one didn' t. Just after listening to what that lady had said,
- 33:25no one would ruin my vacation, I decided to prepare something very rich,
- 33:30to eat, to relax, to run for a while and to meditate,
- 33:35because all that would help me to feel better. And, at the
- 33:37end of the day, the cabin was paid for a week and I wasn
- 33:40' t going to throw my time and money away. The day again was
- 33:45very nice and the water of the lagoon looked beautiful, very clear and bright.
- 33:50Everything was perfect and I told myself to be calm and forget the night
- 33:53before. I slept amazingly that night and the next night, so well,
- 34:00I was already forgetting the murmurs I had heard on the second night and what
- 34:05that woman had told me. But I remembered it perfectly on the fifth night,
- 34:10because something happened to me that I will never forget that fifth night.
- 34:15While in the cabin, the atmosphere changed dramatically. Again I began to feel
- 34:21very cold and very afraid. The mist was all the way down. I
- 34:24could see it through the windows. I made hot tea and tried to relax,
- 34:30but nothing worked. I saw a shadow in my eyes outside that began
- 34:36to move near the lagoon and again I heard the murmurs that became louder as
- 34:39if a crowd of people were approaching the cabin. I felt trapped in the
- 34:45cabin and couldn' t even run out. And it was then that I
- 34:51began to tremble with cold and fear. I desperately searched my phone to try
- 34:55to call someone, but the signal was still non- existent. The cabin
- 35:00looked like a trap and I didn' t know how to escape. From
- 35:04there. The lights in the lagoon returned, but this time they were more
- 35:09intense and seemed to move towards the cabin. I looked out the window and
- 35:14I could see gloomy figures under the surface of the water, moving threateningly my
- 35:20skin became chinita and I began to sweat cold, because I didn' t
- 35:23know what to do. There was nowhere to run or to call. I
- 35:28was completely alone and no one would save me. The lagoon became a dark,
- 35:31cloudy mirror of terror without knowing what else to do. I kept looking
- 35:37out the window shaking with fear. It was better to be warned of any
- 35:43movement that came from outside. That way I' d know how to act.
- 35:46The whispers became voices that said my name in a clear way as if
- 35:51they were calling me from the other side of an abyss, on the other
- 35:54side of the lagoon. Then something happened that I won' t forget in
- 36:00a hundred years. I kept looking out the window. When I saw something
- 36:02in the middle of the darkness, a figure was coming out of the lagoon.
- 36:07She was an empty- eyed woman, a terrifying smile that seemed cut
- 36:13by the way. She had long wet hair and a soaked black dress.
- 36:19His face was pale and his eyes had no life. He stared at me
- 36:22with an empty expression, but even though his mouth remained closed, the cuts
- 36:27were seen and he looked like he was smiling and began to move towards the
- 36:31door of the cabin. The panic took over my body and I quickly receded
- 36:37to the corner of the cabin. I wanted to believe that being inside that
- 36:44woman couldn' t do anything to me, but suddenly the cabin door opened
- 36:47wide and that horrible specter came in. I felt like I was watching my
- 36:53own horror movie, but I knew I wouldn' t have a good ending.
- 36:58The woman was getting closer and closer and her extended hands were moving in
- 37:01my direction and I could feel her cold breath in my skin. Just when
- 37:07I thought my end was near. A loud noise echoed in the cabin and
- 37:12I saw the woman stop and retreat to the lagoon, disappearing beneath the surface.
- 37:19I looked at the entrance to the cabin and saw Mrs Old lady who
- 37:22had warned me beforehand. She was holding some sort of amulet talisman and looked
- 37:29at me seriously. He told me to stay inside the cabin and not come
- 37:32out until the sun rises again. He told me that he had warned me
- 37:37and told me that a woman had been killed in that place and that her
- 37:40body had been thrown into the lagoon, or at least that was believed,
- 37:44because no one had wanted to go in and look for her. That is
- 37:49why he torments the people of that place because he seeks revenge for not having
- 37:53looked for his body and given it holy burial and is believed to come from
- 37:59hell with several demons and he makes it very powerful. She told me that
- 38:02she was a shaman from Port of Air and that something had told her that
- 38:07she was in serious danger. That' s why the talismans had driven the
- 38:12drowned woman away. He told me that if I hadn' t arrived in
- 38:15time, that woman would pull me into the lagoon and drown me like one
- 38:20day. She was drowned, as many tourists have disappeared there. That'
- 38:24s why they don' t like new people going, let alone stay in
- 38:29those cabins. I gave a big sigh and thanked the lady. I invited
- 38:35the lady to take you and maybe it wasn' t so much out of
- 38:38kindness, but because she would make that woman not show up again in the
- 38:43cabin. I told her that my friend had been there, but nothing had
- 38:46happened to her there. The old lady told me that my friend made a
- 38:52deal with the drowned woman. Many people did that, for if they lived
- 38:57with the locals they would tell them what to do. My friend had asked
- 39:00the drowned woman not to do anything to her or her boyfriend and, in
- 39:05return, would have someone else go to that cabin. If she didn'
- 39:08t, the woman would go find her wherever she went and drown her even
- 39:13in the bathroom she couldn' t believe it. Rabies consumed my reason and
- 39:16I began to curse the one I believed. My friend cried and the lady
- 39:22comforted me, but of course the lady had to leave. He gave me
- 39:25a talisman and told me that nothing would happen to me and that I should
- 39:30leave as soon as dawn. The lady said goodbye and I thanked him infinitely
- 39:35for saving my life. Then I saw her disappear into the mist. I
- 39:39spent the rest of the night awake with the talisman in my hands, eagerly
- 39:44waiting for the sun to illuminate the place again. The murmurs and whispers gradually
- 39:50drifted away, but fear persisted in my mind. When the first rays of
- 39:55the sun appeared from the horizon, I gathered my things and left the cabin.
- 40:01I walked back, carrying the weight of that terrifying experience on my back,
- 40:07I could not believe what I had lived in that seemingly quiet place.
- 40:12As I passed through the houses, I met some locals who looked at me
- 40:16with distrust as if they knew what had happened in the cabin. I decided
- 40:22not to tell them anything and took the first bus back to Orizaba and then
- 40:25to Mexico City, leaving behind that port of the air and its horrors.
- 40:31I arrived after more than eight hours at my home in Mexico City. I
- 40:36had lost the three- day money I had left in Puerto del Aire,
- 40:39but I preferred a thousand times that to stay in that cabin near the lagoon.
- 40:45That night I couldn' t sleep because of fear. I marked my
- 40:47so- called friend and claimed how horrible I had done. And then,
- 40:52contrary to what I expected, that it was that she would tell me something
- 40:55bad or go back to the insults, she kept quiet on the phone and,
- 41:00if she went, after a few seconds, she told me scared that
- 41:02then the woman would go after her, for her boyfriend and for me it
- 41:08didn' t matter that we were away, that that woman would drown all
- 41:13three of us and there would be no going back. I told her to
- 41:15shut up and stop talking nonsense, but she, with a trembling voice,
- 41:19told me that she was serious, that the locals there had told her that
- 41:22and that they had even told her not to worry, that there was no
- 41:27way for me to get out alive. That' s where I crashed when
- 41:30I heard that and started insulting her. Again I told her I couldn'
- 41:35t believe she did that to me. He told me he was sorry and
- 41:38hung up the phone. I took a dagger and put it next to my
- 41:44bed, although I didn' t even sleep the other day, I remembered
- 41:49that the old lady who had saved my life had given me her daughter'
- 41:52s phone number, so I called her and when she passed it to me,
- 41:55I told her what my supposed friend had told me. She said no.
- 41:59I didn' t worry that as long as I had the talisman and
- 42:02went out with someone who was dedicated to the cleans and stuff, to getting
- 42:07me cleaned up and getting that woman out of my way, everything would be
- 42:10fine. I thanked him and promised that I would do it as soon as
- 42:15I could. My mind was full of questions and fears, but at least
- 42:19I had a hope of protection. The days and nights passed and although the
- 42:24memory of that terrifying experience in Puerto del Aire was haunting me I tried to
- 42:30resume my life in Mexico City, went to work, went out with friends
- 42:34and tried to distract myself as best I could. However, the shadow of
- 42:37what I had lived was still stalking me in the darkest moments of the night.
- 42:44Finally the day came when I decided to seek help, and I did
- 42:47it because one night a noise woke me up was running water and when I
- 42:52went to see I realized that my bed was completely wet and the floor too.
- 42:57Someone had opened it to the bathroom key and had hours of watering.
- 43:00And the worst thing is that a cable that was broken was about to fall
- 43:05to the ground and that would mean my death, I heard a laugh coming
- 43:10from the bathroom and screamed with all my might. I left my house making
- 43:14sure there could be no accident and went to sleep with my parents, though
- 43:17I couldn' t either. The next day I contacted the daughter of a
- 43:22Shaman who was well known in Mexico City and agreed to meet in a safe
- 43:29place. She was an older woman with a deep connection to spiritual traditions.
- 43:36He explained to me that the lagoon of Puerto del Aire was a place full
- 43:39of dark energies and that the woman, drowned, caught in her torment,
- 43:45sought revenge against those who ventured on her vacation. Making fun of her tragedy,
- 43:50The Shaman performed a ritual of cleansing and protection. He used herb prayers
- 43:54and the talisman that the old lady had given me to drive away any evil
- 44:00entity that might have clinged to me. During the ritual I felt a mixture
- 44:04of relief and fear, but I trusted that this woman knew the secrets to
- 44:08face him supernatural. When the ritual ended the shaman told me that the drowned
- 44:14woman should not be a problem for me if I kept wearing the talisman and
- 44:19avoided returning to Port of Air. He advised me to keep a calm and
- 44:23positive mind, as negative energies attracted dark that helped me a lot. I
- 44:30was able to move back into my house and I didn' t happen something
- 44:34like that again. I felt calm and safe, even though the girl who
- 44:37told me to go to Puerto del Aire was no longer my friend. I
- 44:42told her what the lady who gave me the talisman had told me and I
- 44:45recommended that she and her boyfriend go clean up in time. The fear subsided,
- 44:52but it never completely disappeared. I always took the talisman with me as
- 44:58a reminder of that experience and learned to value the movement of my life in
- 45:02a way that I had never done before, thanking the routine and security that
- 45:08provided me with my relationship with my former friend. She was never the same
- 45:12again after what happened, although she repeatedly apologized, confidence had been irreparably broken.
- 45:21Years passed and although nightmares about the drowned woman and nights in the cabin
- 45:25were less frequent, I could never completely erase that experience from my mind.
- 45:31Sometimes, when I joined in the reflection, I wondered if the drowned woman
- 45:37was still stalking the people who were going to the cabin of the lagoon in
- 45:40search of their revenge. And so, with that uncertainty in my heart,
- 45:45I continued my life in Mexico City, always aware that somewhere under the mist
- 45:50of Puerto del Aire, there was a dark secret hiding in the lagoon waiting
- 45:53for those who ventured too close to it. Dreams are an enigmatic phenomenon that
- 46:08manifests as the body enters a state of rest and recovery. In this,
- 46:14different cognitive and emotional sensations and processes are experienced. Most of the time all
- 46:20the events that we experience during this state occur independently of our will. We
- 46:28can' t manipulate them. If sometimes these are fun or romantic. However,
- 46:32they can also acquire more disturbing dyes, where they feel different emotions such
- 46:38as fear, horror, paranoia, anguish, which are able to generate pictures
- 46:43of stress, anxiety, or trauma that leave people marked. Today, many
- 46:50issues related to dreams continue to be studied through a veil that does not allow
- 46:54us to understand them 100%, and is that these experiences take place in
- 47:00one of the most vulnerable moments. While we sleep and find ourselves completely helpless
- 47:06from the dangers that surround us. Many cultures in different parts of the world
- 47:12have understood them in different ways, some more benevolent, where they consider dreams
- 47:16to be the manifestations of the greatest longings. Others attribute premonitory abilities to them
- 47:22to get ahead of the facts and be prepared to face what comes. But
- 47:29there are also other visions that present them as manifestations of a world or malevolent
- 47:35reality that filters into ours through our dreams. No matter what, Renata'
- 47:39s story is full of elements difficult to explain. Renata is a young migrant
- 47:45who lives in Quebec, but is originally from Fresnillo Zacatecas, a city located
- 47:52in central Mexico, considered one of the most unsafe cities to live for Mexicans
- 47:58themselves. Renata lived in the company of her mother, Isabel and her father
- 48:05Humberto in the house that Humberto' s mother had inherited from them. It
- 48:08was a fairly old house, built with adobe and quite degraded over the years
- 48:14and the lack of maintenance that its owners had not attended to because of the
- 48:19large debts they had contracted when Humberto' s father became ill, which had
- 48:24not been able to be covered, because soon his mother also worsened, so
- 48:29they kept her hospitalized for a few months in a private clinic, which led
- 48:34them to practically the broken bench. Renata' s family had exhausted virtually all
- 48:39its remedies. They had sold and pawned family jewelry, some household appliances and
- 48:45even cut the land where the house was to sell it. And covering part
- 48:51of the debts, but still it wasn' t enough. Credit interests increased
- 48:57month by month because of pars lateness. Some times they ran out of electricity,
- 49:02as they could not cover bimonthly receipts for the service. Doña Isabel ration
- 49:08the few foods that they could access, mainly rice and beans, even skipping
- 49:14some meals a day, as long as Renata could eat something during the day,
- 49:19satisfied her hunger with water, while Humberto was employed in different trades,
- 49:22from masonry, carpentry, watchman and when he was not in a job,
- 49:30he used to go out to the streets in search of steel or plastic cardboard
- 49:35to sell it to recycling centers and thus obtain some pesos to spend the day
- 49:40renata. I was in high school at the time. She was not a
- 49:45bad student, but she used to be reprimanded for not covering school fees or
- 49:49for not wearing the material or uniforms they were asking for. And it is
- 49:52that, although he studied in a public high school, the expenses for his
- 49:55education were significant for the decadent with the family. Renata companions used to make
- 50:02fun of their patched uniforms and shoes in bad shape, not to mention that
- 50:08they rarely brought food or money for lunch. Their appearance was also not very
- 50:15good, as they could not access personal hygiene products. Because of some disagreements
- 50:21with the payments and with problems with her fellow renata she decided to leave her
- 50:28secondary renata intended to go to high school, dressed and left her house every
- 50:32morning, but she did not enter and went to a market where she changed
- 50:37her uniform and worked in a small fonda where a lady had hired her as
- 50:42her assistant general and paid her two hundred and fifty pesos a week for working
- 50:49ten- hour days abusing the naivety and need of renata at night, she
- 50:53used to dream of a life like that of her companions, where she had
- 50:59a space for herself, since she slept in the same room as her parents.
- 51:02He dreamed, wearing new and cute clothes, eating some treats like the
- 51:07ones his classmates bought every day at school and, in general, with a
- 51:10better life, where their needs were covered only in their dreams. She had
- 51:20peace of mind and it was the only thing that comforted her. His father,
- 51:23tired of so much misery, followed the advice of one of his companions
- 51:28he had met while cleaning a cistern. This person convinced him to get a
- 51:32loan with dangerous people so he could go to America and, in this way,
- 51:37work to pay off debts and offer them a better life. To his
- 51:40wife and daughter, Humberto thought seriously, as the people who offered him the
- 51:46money had unorthodox ways to collect. Interests were high and the risk of getting
- 51:52well off was quite high, as they would be charged yes or yes in
- 51:58some way, the s s Circumstances did not have many options either. No
- 52:04bank or acquaintance was willing to lend him money, knowing the situation in which
- 52:08he was in. So, after a couple of days of meditation, he
- 52:12asked his companion to take him with them. His plan was simple, get
- 52:19the money, contact a coyote, cross the border and look for a job
- 52:22to settle his debt as soon as possible. With those people. Humberto told
- 52:29her flat to Isabel, who initially found it crazy, as she would put
- 52:34her and her daughter in danger, is that crossing the border in recent years
- 52:37had become more difficult and dangerous, so if her plan failed, she would
- 52:42leave both defenseless. Isabel stayed on that idea for a few weeks until school
- 52:49staff searched for her to ask about Renata, as she had not shown up
- 52:53for a few weeks. That same afternoon, when Renata returned from her working
- 52:59day, it was with mons soon given by her mother, who attacked her
- 53:04after learning that she had not been attending school for a long time and that
- 53:07she had lied to her. Renata, for her part, tried to explain
- 53:10to her what happened and between tears and sobs, Isabel understood that she was
- 53:16not being fair to her and that, although she was employed as a domestic
- 53:20worker and she was wearing clothes, the money was insufficient to buy something as
- 53:25basic as female towels or clothes in good condition. At night. When Humberto
- 53:31returned home, Isabel told him what happened to Renata, so she supported her
- 53:36husband' s plan, since monthly bills to pay became hell and so they
- 53:39did. The next day. Humberto went with his partner with a couple of
- 53:45men, asked for the loan and in the afternoon he was summoned again to
- 53:51give him the money and warn him not to think about running away because they
- 53:54would find him and his family. Humberto did not tell them that he planned
- 53:59to leave, otherwise they would not have given him the money. So,
- 54:02excited and frightened, he came home. He contacted some relatives who knew the
- 54:07famous coyotes and agreed to leave in a couple of weeks. He left some
- 54:15money for Isabel so they could hold onto what was crossing the border and set
- 54:19up a renata. He said goodbye to his father, although he did not
- 54:24know what would be the last time he would see him again. The days
- 54:28passed, the weeks and nothing was known about Humberto. Isabel as the days
- 54:34passed, began to notice that some vans roamed the area were the collectors whom
- 54:38Humberto had deceived. The concern and stress he was subjected to. Isabel began
- 54:45to give him more and more fear. Every time he left his home to
- 54:50work. She took care that no one was following her renata toward the same
- 54:55thing and could not wait to hear from her father. The situation became more
- 55:00complicated when they told Isabel that Humberto' s partner had disappeared. Apparently he
- 55:06had been picked up in a van as he returned from work to his home
- 55:10and there was no news of him, so most likely the death of that
- 55:15man began to torment Elizabeth, who, distressed and desperate to have some news
- 55:20of Humberto, made the decision to go after him. It was crazy,
- 55:27of course, and leaving her home and her daughter was a bad idea,
- 55:30as she would leave her defenseless before the men who would sooner or later find
- 55:35them. After serious thought, she spoke to Renata, who did not agree
- 55:40to remain alone, had already lost her father and would not lose her mother,
- 55:45so she decided that wherever her mother was, she would go with her.
- 55:50With the little money they had, they decided to follow the same steps
- 55:53as Humberto. The road would be complicated and full of dangers as there were
- 55:58two women and one of them, as a young woman, the risks increased.
- 56:02The stories of abuse and disappearance of migrant women were a constant in the
- 56:07news, but they also had not many options and had already exhausted until their
- 56:14last resort. And now they not only had gigantic debts, but there were
- 56:17also some men who pursued them. Renata used to have dreams where some figures
- 56:23pursued her tirelessly until they reached her, beat her and abused her. Other
- 56:29nightmares revolved around the capture and torture of her and her mother. Every day
- 56:35that passed, nightmares became more disturbing. His journey was getting more and more
- 56:39difficult. However, they were fortunate enough to meet a group of women who
- 56:45cared for themselves, as they were more than aware of the cruel fate they
- 56:49ran as they ventured across the country. In search of the American dream they
- 56:54shared supplies. Among them, some kept guard while the rest slept and got
- 56:59food and drink from some people who used to donate food to migrants. That
- 57:06group of women told them that if they wanted to go in search of the
- 57:10American dream, it would be better for them to cross to Canada. Although
- 57:14the climate was colder, jobs, wages and quality of life were substantially better
- 57:16than those offered by the country of freedoms because of the various policies that some
- 57:22Republican governments had taken to discourage the migrant labour of their States. Both Isabel
- 57:35and Renata had no idea of the situation at the border, much less in
- 57:38the United States, so they didn' t have a big plan either.
- 57:43They were practically on the run without a fixed course. Some women in that
- 57:49group invited them to join them and together to cross the United States to Canada
- 57:53and as they had formed a nice bond of friendship, companionship and respect,
- 58:00they accepted that invitation. After walking hundreds of miles, spending whole days without
- 58:06any food and sleeping on the moving wagons or anywhere where they could be moderately
- 58:10safe, they reached the U S border and there they contacted some people,
- 58:16who explained and guided them to cross the wall. After a successful raid,
- 58:23they arrived in Texas, where relatives and acquaintances of some women they were traveling
- 58:29with received them and helped to get a job, saving enough money to emigrate
- 58:32to Canada. Their stay in Texas was difficult, as neither Isabel nor Renata
- 58:39spoke English and had to live in hiding, because if they were captured,
- 58:45they would be arrested and deported to Mexico, which would be a problem now
- 58:50that they finally had to feed themselves three times a day and sleep in a
- 58:54clean room and bed. Despite the limitations with which Rennas and her mother lived,
- 59:00they were quite happy because they had never been able to enjoy those comforts
- 59:05as minimal as they were, while the rest of their friends told them that
- 59:09if the United States liked them, Canada, they would love them. The
- 59:15nightmares of renata did not occur, even though they had now escaped the threat
- 59:20posed by the men to whom their father owed them money, he used to
- 59:23wake up in the middle of the night screaming, crying and sweating because of
- 59:30the dreams he had. They tried to find some solutions in this regard,
- 59:36but unfortunately they could not go to a doctor, as they could identify them
- 59:40as undocumented people. Without notifying the migration police. Elizabeth spent the nights in
- 59:45her wake taking care of a renata, who made false improvements, as nightmares
- 59:52continued to haunt the young woman in her dreams. After a while working and
- 59:55saving up to the last dollar they set in motion super plan to travel to
- 1:00:00Quebec, as they had heard that it was an excellent destination to start from
- 1:00:06scratch again there, Renata could resume her studies. Isabel would get a job
- 1:00:10well paid and, in general, live peacefully. Renata in the company of
- 1:00:15her mother and two other women who had already been to Quebec on the part
- 1:00:21of a cooperation programme between the Government of Canada and Mexico, would be her
- 1:00:25guides and support to settle down as soon as they arrived, although the journey
- 1:00:30would now remain long, as they would have to cross the whole country.
- 1:00:35This time they would not do it on foot or infraganti on the roof of
- 1:00:38the wagons of a railway, as they could use the different transports that they
- 1:00:44had at their disposal. It took them a few days to get to North
- 1:00:49Dakota, where they would meet some acquaintances of their friends at Asporelake' s
- 1:00:53Indian reserve, as they would take care of helping them cross the border to
- 1:00:59the United States Canada. However, they had to wait a few days for
- 1:01:02the people to return, as they were in winniped visit with some relatives.
- 1:01:09The women' s group was received by Mr Jacola' s family, who
- 1:01:15would help them cross. Jacola' s wife was very hospitable with everyone,
- 1:01:20especially Renata, who had been deprived of sleep for much of the trip because
- 1:01:23of the nightmares, who had drawn their attention from the moment she met Renata,
- 1:01:29her mother and the rest of the women were at the Jacola' s
- 1:01:35house for a couple of days until Mr Ontaro returned to the reservation, but
- 1:01:38asked them for patience, as he would have to make some arrangements with some
- 1:01:44people he knew in Quebeck, which could take a few days and even weeks.
- 1:01:51The women accepted and the Jacola family offered them their hospitality again. Being
- 1:01:57so close to their destination, they had nothing to lose. Ontaro' s
- 1:02:01family was very nice and showed them the Indian reservation. They took them all
- 1:02:06on a visit to the weak Slake, where they told them about the spirits
- 1:02:12found in nature, to whom they attribute some of the human sufferings. Ontaro
- 1:02:17and his wife told Renata and her mother Elizabeth about the power of dreams,
- 1:02:22as these are a manifestation of both benign and malignant energy, which interferes with
- 1:02:27the decisions and lives of all people. They were told the legend of Oullibwi
- 1:02:35of Asibia. Thus a spider woman who, according to the belief of the
- 1:02:38Oullibua, was responsible for setting the sun every morning. But according to him,
- 1:02:44the men and women reproduced him thanks to the energy of the sun,
- 1:02:47which helped with the harvests that collected his labor. It became complicated, as
- 1:02:52many tribes began to disperse all over the world, so that, with the
- 1:02:57help of the wise tribal grandmothers, the mothers ons sisters weaved in a few
- 1:03:01rings a sort of web, which, when exposed to the rays of the
- 1:03:05sun, stored its energy, which drove away nightmares at night, negative dreams
- 1:03:10were trapped between the tissues and these were exorcised when the hoop was set before
- 1:03:15the sun. All the listeners listened to that story with great attention, especially
- 1:03:23Renata, who had long suffered from nightmares that invaded her mind during the nights
- 1:03:29with horrifying scenes and figures. Mrs Jacola had a rag hanging on her bed,
- 1:03:37which her ancestors had woven and had been used for generations. He offered
- 1:03:43it to Renata, but she rejected it because she knew it was a family
- 1:03:46heirloom. Isabel asked Ontaro' s wife to explain how to weave one for
- 1:03:52her daughter. That way it could help rid Renata of the evil forces that
- 1:03:58were stalking her. They took advantage of the time that it took Ontaro to
- 1:04:04make the preparations for weaving said rags with willow wood, feathers of ethnic birds
- 1:04:10and threads that Mrs Jacola had at home. They placed the dream catcher on
- 1:04:15the bed where Renata slept and for the first time in a long time he
- 1:04:20could sleep comfortably, but he could not enjoy much of the traps, since
- 1:04:26the next morning they would cross to Canada and would be on his way to
- 1:04:30Quebec, a city that was still quite far from where they were. After
- 1:04:33a few days and many nightmares arrived in Quebec, they settled in an apartment
- 1:04:39that Mr Ontaro had gotten and presented themselves to the places where the dream catcher
- 1:04:45would work was the first thing that Renata placed in his room and the nightmares
- 1:04:50disappeared. Little by little. He was able to enter the school, where
- 1:04:54he was taught French and English so that he could integrate with the rest of
- 1:04:58the students. Mother got a job at a Mexican food restaurant, and the
- 1:05:02two women who accompanied them also got jobs like recamera and waitresses in different establishments.
- 1:05:11After this, both groups split up. Everyone rented an apartment near where
- 1:05:15they worked and frequented the days that coincided with their breaks. One day,
- 1:05:20when Renata returned from school, she noticed that the wood of the dream catcher
- 1:05:26had become darker. He thought it was because of the cold weather that he
- 1:05:30sees chief. It didn' t matter much. The next morning he noticed
- 1:05:34that the threads of the fabric had also darkened. She found it odd,
- 1:05:40but she wasn' t an expert on dream catchers either, and since the
- 1:05:45nightmares were gone, she didn' t care. As the nights passed,
- 1:05:47dreams tended to become darker and more disturbing, but he preferred not to comment
- 1:05:53to his mother so as not to worry her. After a while, the
- 1:05:58nightmares returned each night after night was worse than the previous one. She even
- 1:06:02felt a man suffocating her in that dream and waking up with strange marks and
- 1:06:08bruises on her body. He thought he would have hurt himself while playing some
- 1:06:14sport, but the situation got worse and there was no night where he didn
- 1:06:19' t have a dream experience hard to explain. The blows and wounds in
- 1:06:23different parts of her body continued to appear, so again she thought of depriving
- 1:06:28herself of sleep and so she stayed for a few days, until tiredness dragged
- 1:06:32her into the world of dreams, where strange things happened to her. His
- 1:06:39mother, at that time, was dating a man she had met at work.
- 1:06:45She felt quite happy and happy about what she reborn, did not want
- 1:06:48to worry her and got medicine to suppress her sleep. So she spent weeks
- 1:06:54awake and nightmares began to affect her even when she was awake. The breaking
- 1:07:00point was when a psychosis attack attacked her while her mother was at home and
- 1:07:04Renata started hitting her head against the wall. Isabel took her to the doctor,
- 1:07:11where she was valued and told that she had not slept for weeks,
- 1:07:15which was affecting her mental health. She was injected to sleep and sent home.
- 1:07:19However, Elizabeth noticed how she was attacking Renata, who seemed to have
- 1:07:24difficulty breathing. Renata' s mother searched for the dream catcher, but when
- 1:07:31she grabbed him, he became Ash, knit another and placed him on Renata
- 1:07:36' s bed. However, he did not see better in his daughter.
- 1:07:41Desperately, she sought medical help again and they referred her to a psychiatric center
- 1:07:46where the specialists valued her and her diagnosis was that she suffered from schizophrenia,
- 1:07:51so they would have to keep the medication and sedation to control her behavior.
- 1:07:58Since then, she has been reborn to be imprisoned in that psychiatric institution,
- 1:08:01she does not speak, only keeps an empty gaze as tears and saliva flow
- 1:08:06on her skeletal face. The story I will tell next happened in Tlalnepantla,
- 1:08:17in a colony called The Dam. It was very scandalous at the time,
- 1:08:23because it impacted my dad' s community for a long time, due to
- 1:08:27their strange circumstances and the fear he spread in them. In the colony I
- 1:08:32mentioned earlier, Sandra and Eric lived that they were a young couple of boyfriends
- 1:08:38both characterized by their good deeds in the community in general, they liked to
- 1:08:43help and live with others. One day, like anyone else, in their
- 1:08:47lives, they decided to go out for a walk on a seemingly ordinary night.
- 1:08:53However, they never imagined that that day would happen something so tragic and
- 1:08:58inhuman that it would change their lives forever. As was customary for them.
- 1:09:03They left that night to tour some of the places they used to travel because
- 1:09:09of their beautiful landscapes. They were so excited and happy sharing their time together
- 1:09:14that they lost track of time and realizing that it was a little late and
- 1:09:16that it was getting dark quickly, they set out to come back. But
- 1:09:23as they returned to Sandra' s house they could notice that in the air
- 1:09:28there was a very strange aroma that could be compared to some sort of solvent.
- 1:09:31Just in case this is too small. They were also frightened to hear
- 1:09:35voices whispering behind them, but the words were totally incomprehensible. They even seemed
- 1:09:44to be in another fearful language, but intrigued to know what it was all
- 1:09:47about. The boy looked back and realized that there was a group of young
- 1:09:51people walking behind them and that they were really sniffing at what seemed to make
- 1:09:57cement or some kind of strange concentrate they were carrying with them. Eric,
- 1:10:02concerned about the circumstances, hugged his girlfriend to make her walk faster, but
- 1:10:08that action only made the youth group do exactly the same. They started chasing
- 1:10:14them in a hurry. The grooms tried to follow an alternate route in order
- 1:10:18to lose sight of them, because they did not know what their intentions were,
- 1:10:24but the way they acted did not seem to be a good thing.
- 1:10:28They continued to roam the streets in haste looking desperately for someone else who could
- 1:10:34help them or some patrol they could approach. But it was in vain,
- 1:10:40as they were moving further and further away from the crowded and enlightened areas.
- 1:10:45Fear kept them trying to evade them, but unfortunately, they were already in
- 1:10:49an area they had never traveled. In their intention to escape, they thought
- 1:10:55they would go into the most lonely streets. It was a good idea,
- 1:10:59because you think it was a good way to hide in trees or garbage cans.
- 1:11:04Apparently, his plan was working until by mistake they ended up going into
- 1:11:09a dead end. That alley was the last place the couple was seen alive,
- 1:11:15because, as they had sensed it at the beginning of the persecution,
- 1:11:18the intentions of the group that followed him were not at all good, besides
- 1:11:23that the boys seemed to be under the effect of some harmful substance and they
- 1:11:28were not wrong about it. Unfortunately, Sandra and Erick could do nothing to
- 1:11:33save each other' s lives by trying to escape that terrible situation. It
- 1:11:40was very complicated, as the group consisted of at least seven young people and
- 1:11:44it was difficult to face each of them in the conditions they were still in.
- 1:11:49With this, they both fought for their life, but it was impossible
- 1:11:53and remembering the beginning of that day that had been so nice, they would
- 1:11:58never have imagined that that would be their last walk together, as a few
- 1:12:02hours ago they were enjoying each other' s company in their favorite places.
- 1:12:06This news was a truly unfortunate impact the next day for the entire community,
- 1:12:13as their neighbors, friends and family described Sandra and Eric as a friendly,
- 1:12:17supportive couple who always liked to help others. Some remained unbelieving about the painful
- 1:12:26news, but it was confirmed by their parents, for they were summoned for
- 1:12:30the recognition of the two corpses and, indeed, they were their beloved children,
- 1:12:34so they had no choice but to communicate it to those who still held
- 1:12:39the suspense or hope that it would not be real. After this, both
- 1:12:45families decided to give them Christian burial, since it is very common for prayer
- 1:12:50circles to take place in their locality, as many close people told them that
- 1:12:56they should do so as far as possible so that the souls of their children
- 1:13:00would achieve eternal rest, because, having died in such a tragic and violent
- 1:13:04way, it was necessary for them to find light on their way and be
- 1:13:10able to rest in peace. After nearly a year of the painful loss,
- 1:13:15Erix' s family was at home fixing some situations that had unfinished business and
- 1:13:20still faced deep sadness over what happened. One day they were praying for their
- 1:13:28son’ s soul, for days ago they constantly heard strange noises all over
- 1:13:33the house. Besides, they could suddenly distinguish whistles like Eric used to.
- 1:13:40They were about to finish the prayer when they suddenly knocked mysteriously at the door.
- 1:13:45However, they would not imagine what they would be about to see.
- 1:13:48The young woman who opened the door was completely shocked, for she could not
- 1:13:54believe what her eyes were seeing. Its impact was totally justified by the fact
- 1:14:00that Eric had knocked on the door, the young man who had lost his
- 1:14:02life a year ago in terrible circumstances and who had clearly buried even before relatives
- 1:14:09and witnesses of all kinds. The moment was frightening, as it had no
- 1:14:15logical explanation. In fact, he was standing in front of the door,
- 1:14:20staring at the interior of the house, waiting to be received by his family,
- 1:14:26but it did not look like something human. He had a strange appearance
- 1:14:30and from his gaze emanated a mysterious and confused appearance. It was something incredible
- 1:14:35and without apparent explanation, because at the time of his death he had undergone
- 1:14:41the respective necropsy of law and autopsy to carry out relevant investigations of the case.
- 1:14:45And it is not a secret that all these interventions involve, so it
- 1:14:50was impossible for Erick to stand at the door of his house. After several
- 1:14:56minutes at Chock, the young woman realized that her eyes were watching. This
- 1:15:01terrified her and started screaming desperately, so the family went out to see what
- 1:15:06was happening and discovering the identity of the person standing there, the panic took
- 1:15:11hold of them, although it was more of a mixture of emotions that,
- 1:15:16on the one hand, caused shock to them to be able to observe their
- 1:15:20son once again, but deep down they knew that this was impossible, so
- 1:15:25Erick' s mother broke into tears and just went on to persign herself and
- 1:15:29pray in front of him asking God for his son' s eternal rest.
- 1:15:35A few minutes passed and Erick mysteriously disappeared. It was known that it was
- 1:15:41so shocking for the family, since after all the things they had witnessed following
- 1:15:45the death of their son, they chose to leave their home, leaving her
- 1:15:49in total abandonment. Things seemed normal within what could be said, because it
- 1:15:58was believed that it had only remained like an abandoned house, but over time,
- 1:16:02the neighbors realized something that was happening inside that decadent home and seemed terrifying
- 1:16:08to them, for they claimed that Erick left his house as he used to
- 1:16:13do when he lived, only now they saw him always dressed in black and
- 1:16:18covering his whole body in a mysterious way. Although the neighbors searched the nearby
- 1:16:25communities, no one knew anything about Erick' s family again, even though
- 1:16:30they looked for a way to contact them to communicate what they saw every day,
- 1:16:34as they considered it to be of the utmost importance and believed that the
- 1:16:39family should do something about it so that their son' s soul would cease
- 1:16:44to grieve in the dark. Neighbors commented that when Erick appeared, it became
- 1:16:48apparent that the young man' s family was very Catholic, that they observed
- 1:16:54every day could be a work of the devil and that they had left the
- 1:16:58house. Neighbors could no longer with the suspense, in addition to believing that
- 1:17:03they should seek a way to ward off the evil that haunted their community,
- 1:17:08for although the days passed under the same routine, they continued to be shocked
- 1:17:14by Erick' s strange and inexplicable reappearance. In several families in the area,
- 1:17:18it was said that it was important that people who died tragically and suddenly,
- 1:17:25as had been the case with the young couple, should be continuously mentioned
- 1:17:30in religious acts that prayed for their souls, in addition to lighting candlelights so
- 1:17:34that they could find the light on their way and eternal rest in peace,
- 1:17:40since it was believed that, by not doing so, souls would remain sorrowful
- 1:17:44forever in the darkness, regretting eternally that they were not fully aware that they
- 1:17:49were no longer on the existential plane. Faced with the desperation that the neighbors
- 1:17:56had decided to follow the indications mentioned s s a n o sons, but
- 1:18:00everything remained the same, so they tried with other options such as spraying holy
- 1:18:06water around Erick' s house, placing amulets that supposedly removed any kind of
- 1:18:12evil. They even asked for help from one of the most important priests in
- 1:18:16the area, who had enough experience in helping people who had been possessed or
- 1:18:23under the effect of some damage through black magic so that he could do everything
- 1:18:27he could to get that house back to normal and the boy' s soul
- 1:18:30to rest. But it was all in vain, as the next day the
- 1:18:35boy appeared again walking hastily away from his home, and the terror of the
- 1:18:42community was so much that no one dared to follow him and much less to
- 1:18:46approach to question him or, at least, to try to see him face
- 1:18:49to face. The months went by, but that was not all, since
- 1:18:55the above was not the only chilling thing that would happen in relation to the
- 1:18:59deceased couple, because after a time of Edick' s reappearance, the news
- 1:19:03in the area began to be alarming, because the group of young people who
- 1:19:10ended up with the couple' s life were about to face something terrifying,
- 1:19:14since one by one was appearing in the news, but in macabre finds and
- 1:19:19under strange circumstances, but the cycle was always repeated. They were found with
- 1:19:24severe injuries just as shocking as those ofÉrika. At the time of being
- 1:19:29found. The day of his death always happened at night. In some of
- 1:19:33the most abandoned areas of the Community, there were never witnesses, neither hearing
- 1:19:38nor sight, but the scariest thing is that some of them also appeared with
- 1:19:44the same bodily wounds as his girlfriend, Sandra, had received. Faced with
- 1:19:49this, the Community began to speculate that everything was Eric' s work,
- 1:19:54as since his return he had emerged from a fearsome aspect and believed that it
- 1:19:59was a revenge, since all the deaths were investigated under the guidelines of the
- 1:20:03law, but it seemed impossible to find clues, details or any sign of
- 1:20:10the person who might be responsible for ending the life of that group of young
- 1:20:15people, and that, since they were people who were continually involved in street
- 1:20:19conflicts, they also contributed to their loss of life with their lifestyle. And
- 1:20:24as in every event of this kind, there were those who empathized with the
- 1:20:30young and some others who rejoiced at it, for they still lived immersed in
- 1:20:34the sadness of losing their friends to their hands. Over time, the Community
- 1:20:39eventually resigned to see Erick live among themselves as if nothing had ever happened.
- 1:20:45But despite this, they have never stopped visiting his tomb and placing sweet flowers,
- 1:20:49photographs, among others, items they considered special to him and his girlfriend
- 1:20:55Sandra, his neighbor friends and families, and they always had doubts about the
- 1:21:00case and that was what had really caused that reappearance. Some are still terrified
- 1:21:06of approaching him, for after so much, mystery and no answer came to
- 1:21:11speculate about a possibility, for, although Erik' s family was always identified
- 1:21:15as totally religious and devoted did not apply the same for the young man,
- 1:21:23since he seemed rather totally alienated or disinterested from all of that, so they
- 1:21:28concluded that, most likely on his deathbed, he had made a pact with
- 1:21:31the devil as the last resort of clinging to life and thus being able to
- 1:21:36re- venge the death of both, but more of his beloved, whom
- 1:21:41he could never see again. But in the same way, it is well
- 1:21:46known that these kinds of covenants have a bitter price that must be fulfilled and
- 1:21:50in his case Erick did not take long to be noticed, for some of
- 1:21:56the people he loved most also died in macabre circumstances, without being able to
- 1:22:01solve any case or do justice for them. In addition to being always noticed
- 1:22:05with a deplete appearance, wandering around the surrounding areas in search of his family,
- 1:22:11but he could never find it, nor did he hear from them by
- 1:22:15any means. When my father told us this terrible history of the Community,
- 1:22:20I hesitated too much at all times, because, like everyone else, he
- 1:22:24believed it impossible and even fanciful, or that it was only a story told
- 1:22:29to cause terror in the population, like those urban legends that have not been
- 1:22:34proven. At least like this, I stayed for a while until one day
- 1:22:39a totally pale brother- in- law appeared trembling with fear. We tried
- 1:22:43to help him so he could tell us what had happened to him and I
- 1:22:48never imagined what he would answer. We managed to reassure him as we could
- 1:22:53and when he could finally speak he told us that, leaving his work at
- 1:22:57night, he diverted his way a little, as he needed to make some
- 1:23:00urgent purchases. When he could distinguish in the dark a strange silhouette that walked
- 1:23:05slowly and approached him, he believed that it was some normal person who was
- 1:23:11also circulating in the area, so he wanted to give a kind greeting until
- 1:23:15he met face to face with that face that, in fact, wasÉdith.
- 1:23:21My brother- in- law related that he was paralyzed by the fear
- 1:23:26of having found him at night, as he even feared for his life.
- 1:23:29He told us that because of the crash he could only stare at him for
- 1:23:32a few seconds until he could react, then he walked away from him.
- 1:23:35Promptly. He walked several blocks and still invaded by panic, decided to turn
- 1:23:42around to check that he had indeed lost it. And so Erik had disappeared,
- 1:23:46so he ran immediately to tell us, as he, like me,
- 1:23:50was an unbeliever of this story, at least until he could verify it with
- 1:23:55his own eyes. I admit that at the end of his story, I
- 1:24:01was totally left in Crock, although I was also very sad to think of
- 1:24:06the life that the boy had led by going through all those misfortunes, so
- 1:24:11at that moment I lost a little fear and decided to look for a way
- 1:24:15to match with Erick, but unlike the other people, I did not seek
- 1:24:20to make any kind of profit or morbid with the situation. Then I believed
- 1:24:25in the story my father had told us. I spent some time trying to
- 1:24:30find that encounter with Eric. He even went through the areas closest to his
- 1:24:34home and other places he used to go to constantly, but he did not
- 1:24:40accomplish my task. I was about to surrender to the refusal until the day
- 1:24:45came. Surprisingly, that occasion I left home without any expectation of finding it.
- 1:24:51I did my daily activities, like every day, with nothing special.
- 1:24:57At the end of my r routine in the afternoon, I decided to visit
- 1:25:01my friends who were on some courts near my house. I spent several hours
- 1:25:08chatting with others and participating in the games we used to play. From time
- 1:25:12to time I was totally immersed in the joyful atmosphere that I had forgotten the
- 1:25:16situation in a matter of minutes, I began to feel very exhausted, dizzy
- 1:25:24and sleepy, so I made the decision to go buy something, eat and
- 1:25:27drink. I walked a little over the street and then it happened if it
- 1:25:33was Erick. I could recognize him for his black dress. Always wear the
- 1:25:39hood to cover up a bit. The face was walking upside down. He
- 1:25:44looked pale, obnoxious and with a melancholy expression. I could also notice his
- 1:25:48extreme thinness. For a few seconds I wondered if I should keep walking in
- 1:25:55his direction like this. But to my surprise, far from feeling afraid,
- 1:25:58I saw him as someone who had suffered a lot and who just needed a
- 1:26:02little human empathy. I decided to go that way and as I met him
- 1:26:09head- on, I tried to say a few words to him, but
- 1:26:13my nerves were consumed, so I only wished him a good night. Eric
- 1:26:17gave me a strange look, perhaps because there are very few people who dare
- 1:26:21to intercept him on his way or try to have a dialogue with him.
- 1:26:27No matter how short it is. He paused for a moment by my side
- 1:26:30as if thinking that answering me I heard a slight murmur, but I failed
- 1:26:36to figure out exactly what he had answered me. He went on his way
- 1:26:40and I stood there watching him go away and disappear into the crowd. That
- 1:26:45night I checked that it was someone harmless, so when I got home,
- 1:26:50I set out to tell my father immediately to see his reaction. He was
- 1:26:56shocked by what had happened to me, but I also hate that maybe he
- 1:27:00was right and that, at the end of the day, it wasn'
- 1:27:03t as bad as some rumored in the community. Some time later, we
- 1:27:08learned that Erick began to devote himself to the world of tattoos, as he
- 1:27:13was well known to his acquaintances, that he was always very interested in it
- 1:27:16and, in addition, was an excellent sketch artist. Though that depressing aspect
- 1:27:20never disappeared from him. I guess it' s obvious, given the circumstances
- 1:27:25of your life. He continued to live alone in the house he previously shared
- 1:27:30with his family, of which nothing was ever known. To date, neither
- 1:27:34my father nor I have looked at him again and somehow I think that is
- 1:27:39better from time to time we dedicate some prayer in his name, wishing that
- 1:27:44he can have a quiet life again away from the whole mystery. The event
- 1:27:49was so important that months later a letter about it appeared in a yellowish magazine
- 1:27:55called alert, because it seems to be something that will never cease to be
- 1:28:00commented on in our Community. It is always judged to the words of fearful
- 1:28:04unbelievers or highly religious people who relate it directly to a work of the devil.
- 1:28:11I understand some of those criticisms, because I believe we will never have
- 1:28:15the absolute truth of what happened. I guess some of those theories will be
- 1:28:18the most successful, but I prefer to limit myself to thinking that it is
- 1:28:24just someone who has had a very complicated trajectory and who, unfortunately, found
- 1:28:29himself at the wrong place and time, like his beloved Bride Sandra, although
- 1:28:34it is inevitable to see him and not think about how that may be possible,
- 1:28:40how is it that someone can come back after death and continue as a
- 1:28:44kind of zombie among society. I wish one day we could find out what
- 1:28:48' s behind all that. Many people have thought of questioning him directly about
- 1:28:55the mystery of his reappearance, but in wanting to do so, they are
- 1:28:59panicked by him and feel paralyzed and unable to do so, as if an
- 1:29:03extreme force prevented him and as if he were destined to remain a mystery.
- 1:29:10Although I don' t think that would be the best alternative, because I
- 1:29:14doubt that someone who has gone through So, and in those circumstances wants to
- 1:29:19tell it openly, I think that it could do something to some extent invasive,
- 1:29:25plus I think that some things if they are determined to remain in doubt,
- 1:29:32mystery and darkness anonymous accounts
