Latest / The Daily Writer / Writers are Brokers of Hope
Transcript
- 0:06SPEAKER_00: Welcome to the Daily Writer, where we share a lesson each day to help you cultivate the habits for creative success.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: Countless people have been inspired by Zig Ziglar's famous quote: You can have everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: We can easily see how this applies to people in sales and marketing and other business-related positions, but how does this apply to writers?
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: Well, here's a simple principle to remember.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: Writing is not about the words, it's about the people who are affected by your words.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: This means we not only try to write well, but we keep in mind who we're writing for.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: We're writing for human beings who are pretty much just trying to get through life on a daily basis.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: We're writing for that single mother who's struggling.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: We're writing for that teenager who's trying to fit in.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: We're writing for that brand new father who feels a new weight of responsibility he's never had before.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: We're writing for that man in his fifties who just found out he has advanced prostate cancer.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: Well, back to Zig.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: What are these people looking for?
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: What do they want, and how can we give it to them?
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: More than anything, people want to have hope.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: Hope comes in many forms.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: It can look like self-help books, podcasts, novels, short stories, blog posts, business books, and many other things.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: We writers are called to be brokers of hope, and our currency is the words that we use.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: Whatever you're working on today, think about the faces of the people who will read your words.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: Remember that your words can bring them hope by making them laugh, cry, reflect, or take action toward their dreams.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: Could there be any better calling than this?
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: Hey, thanks so much for listening to today's episode.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: I want to take a moment to let you know about our daily writer membership community.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: It has been so much fun over the last couple months since we've had this group open to see so many of our members making progress toward their writing goals and dreams.
