- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30Giving away your power, it's something we all do and we don't
- 0:33even realize it. We do it quite frequently.
- 0:35As a matter of fact, we do it nearly every day.
- 0:39In one way or another, we give away our power.
- 0:41Now if I ask that question to people, I say, do you think you
- 0:44give away your power? The typical answer I get is no,
- 0:47no, I don't. I don't do that, but when you
- 0:50break down the minutiae of it and you realize what I mean when
- 0:53I say that, you're going to be quite shocked about how much you
- 0:56do give away your power. One of the biggest ways we do
- 1:00this is by letting people push our buttons.
- 1:03And as my favorite mentor of all time, Doctor Wayne Dyer.
- 1:08And it's apparently Raven's favorite mentor, too.
- 1:12He used to say it's not their fault for pushing your buttons.
- 1:16It's your fault for having the buttons they push.
- 1:19And it it, it couldn't be more true.
- 1:22If you allow people to get in your head, if you allow people
- 1:26to, you know, take up residency inside your head, you're going
- 1:30to end up in a very difficult situation because you're you're
- 1:35not in charge anymore. They're in charge.
- 1:38So, you know, you all heard me say this many times, when
- 1:40emotions go up, intelligence goes down, and that stands true
- 1:46no matter what. When we are out of control with
- 1:48our emotions here, we are allowing other people to come
- 1:52into our head and have a grand situation of getting in there
- 1:58and telling us how we're going to feel.
- 2:00And you know, if really if being happy is the most important
- 2:04thing and we are focused on being happy and we are focused
- 2:07on, you know, having our own level of happiness be the way we
- 2:12want a trend. We have to pay attention to
- 2:15those emotions that we're having and residing in everyday.
- 2:19So while you don't think, you give away your power, every time
- 2:22that you allow someone to upset you and every time you allow
- 2:26someone to tell you how you are supposed to feel, that is what
- 2:30happens. You give up your power.
- 2:32You give up what you were supposed to be able to control,
- 2:36and we don't even realize we do it.
- 2:38It just happens. So this this today is all about
- 2:43you recognizing how many times do you give up your power?
- 2:47How many times do you let somebody else get in your head
- 2:51and tell you how you're supposed to feel?
- 2:54And if you can track this, if you can keep track of of what's
- 2:57happening, if you can look and say, this is a place where I
- 3:00fall down. This is a place where in the
- 3:03words of Gandhi, you know, he's to say, I refuse to allow anyone
- 3:06to walk through my mind with their dirty feet.
- 3:10It, it if when you figure out who those people are with dirty
- 3:15feet, or in my analogy of the bus, you've let the nuts on the
- 3:18bus, you've pulled the bus over, you've let people get on,
- 3:21they're pushing your buttons and you lose your cool, your ability
- 3:24to organize your thoughts goes out the window.
- 3:26Your ability to control your emotions goes out the window.
- 3:29And, and, and we're, we're screwed in that moment and then
- 3:33all our power is gone because we don't have the power of choice.
- 3:38We have that power of reactivity going on.
- 3:40And nothing is more important than keeping your power of
- 3:43choice and staying cool. Now as human beings, this is
- 3:48probably one of the greatest challenges we have.
- 3:51We have to constantly, constantly, constantly work on
- 3:55this, being able to pull our emotions back.
- 3:58We have to really sit there and say, how do I feel about this?
- 4:01We have to really stop ourselves from going down the rabbit hole,
- 4:05so to speak. And we're just not great at it.
- 4:09Like let's face it, we're just not great at it.
- 4:12This is like going into the gym. It is mental fitness.
- 4:16It is something you have to do every day, every moment
- 4:21throughout your day and you just have to accept it.
- 4:25I have a lot of clients that will say to me, I'm so
- 4:27frustrated. I've been working on this for
- 4:28such a long time and it keeps coming back.
- 4:32Well, I want to congratulate you.
- 4:33That means you're alive and that means you have blood pumping
- 4:37through your veins, your heart is beating, you're breathing,
- 4:39you're alive because that's what being human is all about.
- 4:43This is not about a destination of getting there and then having
- 4:46it fixed. This is about a journey of
- 4:48saying this is what being alive is.
- 4:50You have to manage and pay attention to the direction that
- 4:54you are allowing your emotions to go regularly.
- 4:59And once you nail that, once you say I accept that that's the
- 5:02case, then it becomes a lot easier.
- 5:04You stop getting wasting time, getting mad at yourself for
- 5:07losing it, and then you regain it quicker.
- 5:09Because really the game is about saying I can regain myself
- 5:13quickly. It's not about saying I'll never
- 5:16lose it. It's about how quickly you
- 5:18regain it. It's about how quickly you know
- 5:21that the ah, that's a button pusher.
- 5:23Ah, I know that there are certain things in my world that
- 5:26push my buttons and I can tell you as as much as I've worked on
- 5:31them over the years, they are still things that push my
- 5:33buttons. Listen, I grew up.
- 5:34I'm an only child. I don't handle teasing well.
- 5:37And I'll be the first one to admit I don't like it because I
- 5:40didn't grow up with it. I didn't.
- 5:42I didn't have brothers and sisters that did it.
- 5:44So if my husband gets teasing with me and he grew up with a
- 5:48brother and he is that person, he thinks it's OK and it's fine.
- 5:52And maybe it is. But it doesn't mean it doesn't
- 5:54push my buttons. It doesn't mean it doesn't make
- 5:56me feel bad sometimes. And as much as I work on it,
- 5:59it's still something that I have to work on.
- 6:01I've accepted that about myself. I've accepted it and I've
- 6:05recognized that I don't have to have a a perfect track record
- 6:09with it. I can just be like, OK, I lost
- 6:12it. I can regain it.
- 6:13I can be in control about it again.
- 6:15I don't have to stay in a place where somebody else is pushing
- 6:19my emotions in a direction. Does that make sense to
- 6:21everybody? So don't be mad at yourself for
- 6:24it. Be happy for it.
- 6:25Because if you, if you feel that then and you recognize it, then
- 6:28guess what? You caught it.
- 6:30And that's what this game is all about, catching yourself as
- 6:33quickly as you possibly can. Instead of driving the bus off
- 6:37the road, off the ravine, down into the water and drowning.
- 6:40You say, wait, wait, wait. I hear the clunk, clunk, clunk,
- 6:43clunk, clunk of the driving off the road grids on the side, you
- 6:46know. And then you go, oh, let me
- 6:48drive back on the road. And you catch yourself quickly.
- 6:50That's what this is about, not going into the ravine.
- 6:54You're going to go off the road. Just don't go so far.
- 6:58So hopefully this is helpful today.
- 7:00Hopefully you don't give up your power too much today.
- 7:02Hopefully you control who you let on your bus.
- 7:05Hopefully you stop and say, you know what, I'm just going to
- 7:07drive the bus right by this crew because I don't want anything to
- 7:11do with this mess that's I'm being presented with.
- 7:14And you move forward. And I hope you guys have an
- 7:17incredibly blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
- 7:19Bye.
