- 0:00You know, Caitlin Clark's in the news, WNBA's in the
- 0:03news, and it's never about the stats. Tanya, how you doing? Don't forget
- 0:07quarterback stuff that's pissing us off. Never forget that.
- 0:10We will be doing all of this and more in today's live episode.
- 0:13We are The Regulars. Let's do this, Cody. Let's do it.
- 0:24After just only one day away from our first ever
- 0:28emergency podcast, of which, of course, Mocha was in the chat. Sorry, but we didn't—
- 0:31honestly, we didn't want to bother you.
- 0:34Mocha was like, why didn't you even let me
- 0:38know? I'm sorry, that won't happen again, Mocha. You— and obviously
- 0:42he was sorely missed as we fucked up to start the show, but I guess
- 0:45that'll happen in an emergency podcast. And what do we have the emergency podcast for,
- 0:48Tanya? The batshit insane news with
- 0:52everything surrounding the Mark Walters sale of the Lakers within
- 0:55one year. And of course, we're gonna get into the minutia of that. Also the
- 0:58surrounding things in that, which I'm really, really,
- 1:00really not at all concerned to talk about.
- 1:04Um, and then of course we got a little bit of WNBA. You mentioned the
- 1:07quarterback shit that always drives us nuts because of course quarterback shit is
- 1:10always against Jalen fucking Hurts for some goddamn reason. Jalen Hurts
- 1:14is a— is a— not— we just watched the first 5 minutes of the new
- 1:18Green Lantern show that's coming out, and I'm like, I at this point
- 1:22I'm prepared for Jalen Hurts to somehow be the villain of that show. That's,
- 1:25that's what you would think based on how everything's going. Parallax Sinestro and
- 1:29Jalen Hurts throwing interceptions in practice. Yeah,
- 1:32nerds, get with the fucking program. Um, we also have
- 1:37a lot going on in Media Corner, which also has some quarterback stuff on it
- 1:39and whatever, so it's a pretty, uh, packed show. Yeah, we got a lot
- 1:43to talk about. And yeah, Media Corner is a little fucking messy today because
- 1:47I don't know what to say other than this industry that we are currently in
- 1:50that we like to talk about and like to let you guys on the inside
- 1:54a little bit about is a fucking mess. And honest to God, it is today.
- 1:58If today didn't prove that it's in a bigger and worse state than
- 2:01it's ever fucking been, I don't know what to tell you. This is a fucking
- 2:04clown show. I can't wait to get into it. I mean, the, the amazing
- 2:08part is that as bad as sports media is, the leagues are really
- 2:12giving them a run for their money. So, yeah, I love that all aspects of
- 2:16this job are falling apart. Very much so. Well, let's get right to it.
- 2:19I'm Cody Decker. Tanya Ray Fox. Like, share, and subscribe wherever you
- 2:23get your favorite podcasts. And of course, check us out over here on YouTube.
- 2:25We're getting ready to actually Build also a Twitch page. We're on Facebook
- 2:29for the first time ever on Tanya's page. And of course, if you're watching us
- 2:32on Instagram, welcome to the fucking shit show that is
- 2:35the sports world. Let's get into it. Tanya Rae,
- 2:39headline one. The Mark Walter
- 2:43investigation, which we talked about last yesterday in our emergency
- 2:47podcast, is continuing to be broken down in the media.
- 2:51People are kind of taking a look at the timing of the $12.5 billion
- 2:55sale, which, uh, truly can't be ignored, which is why we did not ignore it
- 2:59yesterday. There's a couple things that, um, people have caught on to
- 3:03today. Again, this is why we did our emergency podcast yesterday, because we were
- 3:06on it. We were on it really quickly. But, um, there,
- 3:10you know, a lot of people don't know what Mark Walter is
- 3:13being investigated for. Mark Walter, the owner of the Dodgers,
- 3:16also the former owner of the Lakers before he randomly sold it out of nowhere
- 3:20to Josh Kushner and Bob Iger yesterday,
- 3:24or hasn't sold it yet. It's supposed, supposed to be going through
- 3:28at some point. But they're under investigation after
- 3:32a search warrant was issued less than a month ago from the FBI
- 3:36seizing mobile phone and computer belongings to Walter.
- 3:41That was— so it happened last fall, but it came out last month.
- 3:45The main company in question released a statement denying any wrongdoing.
- 3:49That is I believe TWG, uh, Mark Walter
- 3:53and TWG have always acted in good faith, blah blah blah. At issue are those
- 3:562 insurance companies, Delaware Life and Clear Spring, which according
- 4:00to the Los Angeles Times, an internal whistleblower
- 4:04at Guggenheim filed a complaint questioning how Guggenheim booked
- 4:08revenues associated with those insurers. Now Guggenheim is the
- 4:12managing company for the teams that we were just talking about. Again, it's not inherently
- 4:16a problem when companies with a shared co-owner make a deal together, but it can
- 4:19be a problem if and we are using one of the most extreme possible examples
- 4:23here, a company does something like what Enron infamously
- 4:26did and hides its financial woes from investors by unloading debts into
- 4:30seemingly separate entities. Now, this is for you
- 4:34and I not— would not be a shocking situation at all.
- 4:38In this case, Bloomberg reports that Delaware Life told regulators in
- 4:42June of 2025 that it only had $1.4 billion in
- 4:46affiliated investments representing 3% of its portfolio.
- 4:49And it turned out that number was more along the lines of $17 billion
- 4:53in loans that had been passed through a third party before being received
- 4:57by Walters' other companies. So then he goes and he,
- 5:01he apparently approached investment firms, including Mets
- 5:05owner Steve Cohen's Point72 Asset Management, about getting
- 5:09some cash on hand. He wanted a range of deals to get
- 5:13cash. That money would be used to help pay down those loans involving Walters Insurance.
- 5:17So the reason that I wanted everybody to get
- 5:21caught up on this is because, as you and I broached, and as the rest
- 5:24of the media has caught on today, uh, there's a massive—
- 5:29the largest contract in sports looming out there,
- 5:32sort of hovering over all this questionable financials and how much Mark Walter
- 5:36actually has that could be liquid. And it's Shohei Ohtani.
- 5:40Yeah. Um, people are finally noticing that Shohei, uh,
- 5:44can technically opt out of his Dodgers contract if Mark Walter sells
- 5:48the team. Yes, he can. Now, Mark Walter has shown no indication that
- 5:52he is going to sell the team. It's not being reported that he's going to
- 5:54sell the team. But however, before Sunday, there was no indication or word at all.
- 5:57And by the way, how often do $12.5 billion deals
- 6:01get worked out in 3 days with literally no one saying a
- 6:04word in any direction at any given moment? Well, I wouldn't say
- 6:08it's very common. Okay. Just checking. It's the first one I've ever seen. But continue.
- 6:12So there's this whole thing going on with Shohei, which we talked about,
- 6:16which is like it's starting to feel like the money is not
- 6:19there to pay Shohei in the short term
- 6:23or potentially long term. The more that this guy's under investigation, which again could
- 6:27disappear after all of this movement, and he did just profit $12.5
- 6:32billion. So he could— he can go ahead and pay off Shohei now. He sure
- 6:35could. And I do sort of wonder if on Shohei's
- 6:39end there's going to be potentially like a desire to restructure out of some of
- 6:42that deferred money. Which would put the Dodgers in a very interesting
- 6:46choice, wouldn't it? I said it yesterday. I said it. Shohei,
- 6:49you might want to go get your money. You've already been robbed by one
- 6:53person that you trusted. Don't let it be 2. Listen,
- 6:56he'd be— if they were just paying him,
- 6:59right? Yeah. You tell me, because I can't remember if they just paid him the
- 7:03annual value of his contract, if you restructured it so that he's getting the actual,
- 7:06like, what he should be making every year instead of these, like, little miniatures
- 7:10until the back end. Does that still go on the luxury
- 7:14tax? Like, oh no, they are, they're already getting luxury taxed with the money.
- 7:19So no matter what, it's in there. So it's not like they have to pay
- 7:22more, but they know they're just gonna suddenly— their salary would be— their on-hand
- 7:26cash salary, uh, for that year would go up like $70 million,
- 7:30right? Up. So let's say for 2027, if there was baseball,
- 7:34it would be a— he would be taking up a much larger— yeah.
- 7:37Percentage of their salary. Yes. Payroll would
- 7:41be— I mean, you would at that point start thinking about getting rid of players.
- 7:45100%. Right. Okay. Even the Dodgers. Yeah. I mean,
- 7:48yes. Well, that's the thing is, again, the Dodgers aren't—
- 7:51and we said this when we were talking about this— aren't even the richest owners.
- 7:54Like, I mean, he's going to Steve Cohen for money. Cohen has like—
- 7:58just, just understand, like, he just made $12 billion the
- 8:02other day. Yeah. Cool, cool, cool, cool, cool. Steve Cohen has double that just in
- 8:05his checking account. Oh yeah, he has double that. Yeah, that he could just like
- 8:08grab right now. He's probably looking at that sale going like, I can buy that
- 8:12twice. Absolutely, 100%. So part of this also sort
- 8:16of connected to more stuff that came out today is also connected
- 8:20to what we talked about yesterday with Josh Kushner having a minority stake
- 8:24in the Miami Heat. Yep. And it is reported that he will need to sell
- 8:26that stake before the Lakers purchase goes through. Yes. Again, Um,
- 8:30fucking sell it. What are we— oh my God. Like, so you already secured
- 8:35this team, this sale, essentially. It just needs to be passed through the board of
- 8:38governors. He still owns 5% of the Miami Heat. Um,
- 8:41minority owners of NBA teams typically have very little impact on the day-to-day operations of
- 8:46the teams. But, uh, it is reported that Kushner, um,
- 8:50will be required to sell his share of the Heat to purchase the Lakers.
- 8:52Obviously, we already knew that. Uh, he sold his
- 8:56stake in the Grizzlies in 2024 to clear the way for the investment for the
- 9:00Heat. So again, this is what we were talking about. I need you
- 9:03to understand, in the last like 6 years, 6 to 7 years, we've been talking
- 9:07about him buying minority ownership stakes in
- 9:11the Grizzlies and the Heat. We're talking 5%, 10% minority
- 9:16stakes in smaller market teams.
- 9:19Today he has $12.5 billion to outright
- 9:23buy the most expensive team in the NBA. Nobody has a few questions
- 9:26about how he went from being a 5% minority owner of the Heat to owning
- 9:31a $12.5 billion team? Well, it's funny you say that. I have questions. Oh,
- 9:35I luckily have a couple of answers for you. Excellent. Because I've done some
- 9:39Pablo Touring on my own because this is all facts of public record.
- 9:43So as you know, he is the founder of Thrive. And now there are 2
- 9:47parts of Thrive, one of which is like the hedge fund
- 9:50or I'm sorry if I'm referring to it wrong. I can't tell the difference between
- 9:53what a fucking hedge fund is and private equity is. It's just all fucking gambling
- 9:57in real time. That's just what it is. Um, at the end of the
- 10:00day, he runs Thrive, and there's 2 different portions of Thrive, one of which is
- 10:03like an entertainment portion that is all a part, you know, of getting the sports
- 10:07aspects. Well, here's the thing. The current assets, according, according to
- 10:11what the more recent things that are being reported, is that they have about $25
- 10:14billion in those assets. The 5-year growth has
- 10:18been exponential with $15 billion. So like in 2021,
- 10:22right after COVID, due to certain government subsidies, Um, they were
- 10:26able to include their, uh, grow their business from $2 billion all the way
- 10:30to 2025 to $25 billion, and estimated in some reports that they're worth $50
- 10:34billion now. Um, how that happened, I don't know. But I do
- 10:38know this, that on the same day that this sale was reported,
- 10:41the Treasury Department went ahead and put out this issued, uh, statement. Um,
- 10:45today the Fed has issued a final rule that permanently removes the
- 10:49requirements of U.S. companies and U.S. persons to report beneficial ownership
- 10:53information. FinCEN today also
- 10:56announced that it will delete previously reported information by U.S.
- 10:59persons from the beneficial ownership information database.
- 11:03Now, those of you who are wondering what that means, that— wondering what that means,
- 11:06that means that the U.S. government is now saying anyone that's a
- 11:10part of a large business deal, dark money no longer needs
- 11:14to be required to be reported or even tracked. This is a way this
- 11:18law came into effect. To keep foreign entities from money laundering
- 11:22and billionaires from money laundering. This is
- 11:25allowing more or less basically money laundering. And,
- 11:29um, a lot of that money laundering comes through, say,
- 11:32Saudi Arabian interest allegedly, and how sportswashing has very
- 11:36much become a thing. We'll say that there's a lot of money invested in Thrive,
- 11:40just in— just let's throw that out there. Say a ton of money is invested
- 11:43in Thrive from Saudi Arabia interests. So we'll never know
- 11:46that. The government will never check it. And now we
- 11:50won't even be told. Honestly, we don't even know who owns the
- 11:54Lakers technically. It's kind of a dark, dark, dark thing.
- 11:57That is. And it's only going to apply to like
- 12:01corporations, right? Yes. Yes. And billionaires. So we can't
- 12:05get our dark money. No, no, no, no. We don't get any of this.
- 12:09This is— so we're going to— this is going— by the way, this ruling is
- 12:12really big. Built— like, it's almost like a perfect time to sell
- 12:16or buy a billion-dollar, multi-billion-dollar franchise. It's so weird.
- 12:19That's so weird that that— I'm not saying it's— I'm not saying one is caused
- 12:23by the other. It's just— I'm saying the timing to be a billionaire has never
- 12:26been better. But again, Cody, we have to remember, just like everybody keeps telling us
- 12:29on the internet, those, those moderates on the internet,
- 12:33Josh Kushner doesn't have anything to do with the Trump administration.
- 12:37You're right. Yeah, he doesn't have anything to do with that. Don't judge him by
- 12:40his last name. Okay. Well, I won't—
- 12:44I won't say anything and I'll just let you guys decide whether it's stupid to
- 12:47say that or not. All right. We have an entire podcast
- 12:51breaking all of this down in case you want more about this topic. We did
- 12:55about 40 minutes yesterday. It is on the YouTube,
- 12:58the full thing, and it is uploaded to both Spotify and Apple. So if you
- 13:02want a longer segment on that, we have it. But that's just the latest from
- 13:05today. Yes. Headline. Number 2, Cody. Dose.
- 13:09Uh, the WNBA on Wednesday condemned
- 13:15bad faith actors amid discussions of transgender athletes and online
- 13:18hate after task force meeting. The WNBA spoke out
- 13:22about the bad faith actors who've been dominating the discussion surrounding transgender athletes
- 13:26and online hate after the meeting on Wednesday. Cathy Engelbert, the WNBA commissioner,
- 13:30team presidents and general managers met Wednesday at previously scheduled meeting and
- 13:34addressed both topics, among others. Today's meeting covered a wide
- 13:39range of topics, including ongoing discussions on transgender athletes and the continued
- 13:43hate and vitriol directed at players online. We will continue to engage all league
- 13:47stakeholders in the coming weeks and months.
- 13:50We will approach these important conversations thoughtfully in alignment with the values
- 13:54of our league. There are no immediate eligibility matters affecting the
- 13:57WNBA, and we strongly denounce the bad faith efforts to use these
- 14:01topics to demean or marginalize others.
- 14:04Before I move on, I do want to say that's a pretty full-throated
- 14:08statement without naming 2 of the
- 14:12more attention-baiting human beings alive right now. Yeah,
- 14:15she point-blank says, yeah, we're not— we're not playing your fucking game.
- 14:19So just FYI. Good. So I feel like that's pretty stern, all things
- 14:22considered. Again, we— I don't ever respect sports commissioners.
- 14:26I think they're mealy-mouthed and they kowtow to billionaires
- 14:30and they're very, very difficult to get them to say anything meaningful on the record.
- 14:33But This specifically was, was a fairly strong denouncement of at least the
- 14:37conversation around everything. Um, a source told Yahoo
- 14:41Sports Cassandra Negley that the meeting largely focused on the hate and vitriol being directed
- 14:45at the players online. Yeah. Uh, just to note, there are no transgender
- 14:49players in the WNBA or preparing to enter the WNBA. I liked that little phrase.
- 14:53And there are no legitimate eligibility matters facing the league. The CBA also
- 14:57states that only players who are women are eligible to play in the WNBA.
- 15:01So there's some stuff to get around there. And now that it's
- 15:05created a situation, you know,
- 15:08the fearmongering around trans athletes in sports
- 15:12is very specifically clearing track. It's trying to diminish
- 15:17women in sports very much through the— through trans women,
- 15:21through an absurd fearmongering that truly—
- 15:25it's not just that it's nauseating. It's that it doesn't exist. It doesn't
- 15:29exist. And then it's sort of taking someone, these people who are
- 15:33already marginalized, scared, put out onto
- 15:37the fringes of society, made to feel not safe in so many places,
- 15:41in so many spaces, these people who are struggling to have their own equal
- 15:45rights, civil rights, it's putting them in even more danger.
- 15:49And now it is pinning them as a
- 15:53political enemy oppositional to the group of people who they are
- 15:57trying so desperately to be embraced by, which is women, cisgender women,
- 16:01which like, that just breaks my heart. I think that's like the thing that really
- 16:04bums me out so much. Just needless. It's just this thing.
- 16:08I— it's really interesting how much the rhetoric has actually picked back
- 16:12up as of late. That's the thing. There are real fucking awful,
- 16:15disgusting, disturbing things happening in this country, in this world right
- 16:19now. Yet somehow,
- 16:22somehow they have turned this back over to trans athletes.
- 16:25Name a professional trans athlete. Yeah, name one.
- 16:29Um, I know of one, I think, in the world. And I know of— I
- 16:33know about Julie Tatar, the basketball— that's the only one. And Monaco,
- 16:37right? Only one in the world that I am aware of. At the Olympic
- 16:40level, trans athletes— and I'm saying the Olympic level, not in the Olympics,
- 16:45the Olympic level— trans athletes equate to 0.001%
- 16:51of all athletes. And then at the collegiate level,
- 16:54of that, there are no 10 known transgender athletes ever at the collegiate level.
- 16:58That equates for the current— currently of 0.002%.
- 17:03We're talking about 11 people on Earth, none of which are affecting
- 17:07anything. This is so fucking
- 17:11mind-numbingly insane. I don't know what to do with myself.
- 17:14Well, I'll tell you, you know, um, I,
- 17:18I saw a great video, um, and I, I'm gonna pull it
- 17:21up while I'm talking about this because I want to make sure I give her
- 17:24credit. Uh, she is a political figure, I believe, in Minnesota, but she did a
- 17:28full breakdown of exactly what's going on with the trans panic and why it's specifically
- 17:32being aimed at women's sports and what the goal is and,
- 17:35um, just how successfully the right has propagandized, uh,
- 17:39essentially like a bunch of otherwise well-meaning people to
- 17:43start saying things like women are weaker
- 17:47and less talented and not capable of competing and need to be protected against
- 17:51men. And like people who were once maybe considered themselves
- 17:55feminists were once unwilling to use that kind of rhetoric are now have
- 17:59been propagandized. And that's what, you know, sometimes people think they can't be propagandized
- 18:03because they're not sharing Facebook memes. That their grandfather sent them. But the reality is
- 18:07it's, it's propaganda. And suddenly the right has you saying some stuff that's really
- 18:12backwards. What do you mean women aren't equal
- 18:16to men, right? So this, uh, woman posted a video where she talked
- 18:20about the Heritage Foundation's— um, we— I've been talking about this since January when I
- 18:24made a video about it. They are coming after Title IX, and though they are
- 18:27coming at Title— after Title IX through the trans panic. Yes, they are.
- 18:30By being able to say like, okay, well, obviously if you guys start,
- 18:34won't— will not ban— they knew,
- 18:37you know, banning trans athletes is essentially impossible because they don't exist. So they
- 18:41will use that bad faith, uh, entrance into destroying
- 18:45Title IX and say we have to get rid of Title IX because you guys
- 18:48are abusing it. This is not what we meant by equality. Let's dismantle it.
- 18:50Let's do exactly what we did with the Voting Rights Act and with Roe v.
- 18:53Wade. And we're at— now the problem is there's a
- 18:57problem right there on its own. On top of that, Title IX is just not—
- 19:00is not just about equality in sports. It's also equality for women
- 19:04and basically anti-discrimination across the board in education.
- 19:07Yeah. So now by dismantling Title IX,
- 19:11you're not just dismantling, dismantling the opportunity for equality in
- 19:15sports and sports investment, but also in access to education and
- 19:19equality in that space. And then when you do that, you open
- 19:23the door further into legislating across
- 19:27the board that we've just— we have decided clearly based on everything that men
- 19:30are not that men— women are not equal to men.
- 19:34This is the Heritage Foundation's stated goal. Yes.
- 19:38I am not interpreting it. I am not saying
- 19:41something that I feel like I'm put— no, their stated goal is to make sure
- 19:45that women are focused on having children, staying in the home,
- 19:49and that they are not focused on education, sports, anything else. They have said the
- 19:52woman's body should not be used for athletics, blah blah blah. You know the drill.
- 19:56Um, this was— I would like to point people to Erin May Quaid
- 20:01She is across social media, mom, senator, and senior advisor at
- 20:04Gender Justice. This is a— I believe she is in Minnesota.
- 20:07And she— this video is incredible. And it does break down exactly what
- 20:11their aim to do is and how well they have successfully turned this
- 20:15entire conversation into a bunch of women saying, well,
- 20:18we all— we do have to be protected from the men. Hold on.
- 20:23Now, hold on. Right. Like, this is— I
- 20:26would like to remind everybody, Cody, There are like
- 20:30intra-gender sport— we've been doing co-ed sports in
- 20:34both at the, like, at the youth level
- 20:38and as adults for a long time. Uh-huh.
- 20:41We've like been mind-fucked into talking about, oh,
- 20:44like trans women playing it. There are co-ed sports leagues,
- 20:48adults and children, across the country
- 20:52with no issue. Sophie Cunningham fought really hard to
- 20:56play on the boys' football team in high school. No issue.
- 21:00This whole thing has gotten everybody to dumb it down
- 21:04to the point where we are now on the precipice of them being able to
- 21:07fully swing open the door, in fact kick it down, to legislating
- 21:13anti-discrimination essentially completely out of education
- 21:17and then eventually out of our legal system.
- 21:20Listen, man, um, it's just whenever
- 21:24it happens, I always just ask, well, what are they distracting from?
- 21:28And it's so funny, I can point at the 19 different possible things,
- 21:32probably hundreds of possible things, honestly, that they're distracting from. I don't think it's a
- 21:35distraction though. I don't think it's— that's the thing is like, I don't think it's
- 21:37a game. But why the uptick right now? That's my question. Like, the uptick has
- 21:40really picked up in like last 2 weeks. Well, because once you get— so this
- 21:44happened with Riley Gaines and JK Rowling, right? So whenever
- 21:48you see the door open to push the issue, that's going to get you in,
- 21:52right? They're just— they're, they're always biding their time, slowly but surely planting the seed.
- 21:55They planted the seed enough. Now the seeds are sprouting.
- 21:58Sophie Cunningham has said the thing they needed her to say. Oh yeah, this incredibly
- 22:02famous— she's wearing the shirt, right? So boom, they've kicked
- 22:06the door open. Now we've got these former, uh, NBA players. This is how it
- 22:10works. You plant the seeds long enough and just wait for them to open the
- 22:14door. So it's not like, yes, it's distracting from other things,
- 22:17of course, but it's also not just like, oh, we'll just lean on this
- 22:21while we do war over here. It actually is part of their legitimate plan.
- 22:24No, completely agree. But I just noticed in the last couple of weeks, maybe it's
- 22:28because it's an election cycle. It's so funny. But it's not just that. It's also
- 22:30we've been seeing these things leading into the midterms, people trying to run and get
- 22:34in their primaries so they can go run in these upcoming midterms. It seems as
- 22:37though very clearly that every single Republican is going to
- 22:40run on the trans ticket. That is what they're going to run on.
- 22:44Culture war. They're going right back to fucking culture war. Yeah.
- 22:48For all— for the same reasons. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's all for the same reasons.
- 22:51And, and like, distraction is really just like a fun
- 22:54little side note because this is really just furthering their goals
- 22:58along with what's going on on that front.
- 23:02Stephanie White, the coach of the Fever,
- 23:06got it. Did you see this press conference that she gave? It was pretty— yeah,
- 23:09it was pretty intense. Yeah, I called it. Feverish because
- 23:14I am making— great with, great with the puns. Uh,
- 23:17in her defense essentially of all the conversation around
- 23:21Dijonay Carrington's hard foul, um, and just she was like booed.
- 23:26Yeah, um, listen, I can't stress enough, everyone involved
- 23:30with this at this point is a fucking idiot and a bad faith actor.
- 23:34Continue. No, you're good. Uh, she said, we are united, we are connected,
- 23:37we will not be divided. Every day these women put their ass on the line.
- 23:41Every day when they go low, we go high. Way to
- 23:44fucking take Michelle Obama. Love will win.
- 23:48Grace will win. Humility will win and kindness will win. I stand
- 23:51by them. I will always stand by them. Everyone else can go to hell.
- 23:54White pounded her fist on a table multiple times during her
- 23:58remarks before leaving the room without taking questions from reporters.
- 24:02Now, this is the head coach of the Fever with both Sophie Cunningham and
- 24:07Caitlin Clark, as well as Kelsey Mitchell and Aaliyah Boston, who are the 2
- 24:10best players on the team, actually. Cunningham and White shared an
- 24:14embrace in the media room in between their news conferences. Clark, meanwhile, took issue with
- 24:18the fan reaction toward White before tip-off. It's tough, Clark said. Like,
- 24:22that's my coach. I hated that our fans booed her before the game. That made
- 24:25me a little sick, to be honest. That's our head coach and we're going to
- 24:27ride for her and we're going to always have her back. Okay, well,
- 24:32here's the thing. If you want to go down with the ship, Stephanie White,
- 24:35that's exactly what you're gonna fucking do. And Aaliyah Boston's on her way to
- 24:39going down with the ship too. She's getting on the mic and
- 24:42she's incredibly frustrated and very defensive of Stephanie White.
- 24:46Um, Kelsey Mitchell's been put in the position to— what is she supposed to do,
- 24:49not defend her head coach? I give Kelsey Mitchell a little bit more credit
- 24:53because Aaliyah Boston's out there on her podcast talking shit with Candace Parker all the
- 24:56time anyway. So like You know, I— if she wants to,
- 24:59she's going to say what she's going to say anyway. Um, but both these women
- 25:02are the, like, actual, like, part of the engine of the team along with Caitlin
- 25:06Clark. Sophie Cunningham's a fucking sideshow. But this has come down
- 25:09to now Stephanie White being so genuinely—
- 25:13remember, same head coach who acted like Alyssa Thomas
- 25:18had done something incredibly horrifying. Yeah, right.
- 25:22Same head coach This— she very clearly has an agenda to protect Sophie
- 25:26and Caitlin from the kind of criticisms that she's getting, and that is
- 25:30getting her booed at her own home games. This has
- 25:34now become a situation where everything that
- 25:38comes in contact with Caitlin Clark becomes
- 25:41cancerous. And Caitlin Clark is like,
- 25:46just like, it's wild because she doesn't even have to say Sophie Cunningham
- 25:50just took the ball and ran with it. And now the entire thing is a
- 25:53fucking mess. And Stephanie White is about to controversy her way out
- 25:57of a goddamn job. Like, this is insane. And I don't— like, I don't know
- 26:01what to say. Like, I genuinely don't know what to say other than to be
- 26:04this aggrieved by, like, this reaction
- 26:08rather than trying to understand it. In a— this
- 26:14league is— this league is Black women. These fans are Black women. These fans are
- 26:17queer women. Like, you're not going to win this. You might win it. The culture
- 26:22war in the conservative space. Maybe they'll have you on the new podcasts, all the
- 26:25MAGA podcasts that ESPN is doing. Don't worry, there's a lot of them. There's a
- 26:28lot of them. We'll get to it. Oh, we'll fucking get to it. Fuck.
- 26:31They're flailing like dead fish over there in Indiana. They're flailing
- 26:36like, congrats on the fucking paychecks, but this league's not for you.
- 26:40Stephanie White's unraveling and she's going to take Aaliyah Boston
- 26:44with her. I thought the— I thought the quotes were I—
- 26:48what the fuck are you talking about? If you're gonna listen, I'm, I'm actually very
- 26:51okay with you actually sitting here and facing this head on, but you didn't.
- 26:54You gave a statement and you didn't really say anything. We will overcome,
- 26:57we will persevere, we go low, we go high. The fuck are you
- 27:01gonna be saying? So she's gonna use Michelle Obama language. What the fuck are you
- 27:04even saying to talk about how Dijonay Carrington fucked her over? Uh,
- 27:08I'm sorry, dude, I got, I got nothing for you. Like, you— if you want
- 27:12to deal with this head on, you deal with it head on. And that is
- 27:14simply sit there, answer, ask, give your statement and answer fucking questions because
- 27:19the questions are not going to be fun. Sorry, that's the job you got.
- 27:22Why is it that Sophie Cunningham, according to Stephanie White and all these people,
- 27:25is the only one that's allowed to get out there and talk their shit
- 27:29publicly? Dijonay said what she said. You guess what happened?
- 27:32A bunch of the league ended up on Dijonay Carrington's side and
- 27:35you got booed. Hey, free speech, baby.
- 27:38Fucking take it if you want to stop the— if you want the heat to
- 27:42stop coming back on you. Maybe the players that you defend who love you so
- 27:44much, who keep hugging you and everything else, should stop putting you in the position
- 27:48of having to defend the indefensible stuff. Otherwise, I don't fucking feel bad
- 27:52for you. I feel bad for Kelsey Mitchell at this point. That's about it on
- 27:55that team. Everybody else, I mean, people who aren't running their mouths,
- 27:59but man, they're digging themselves deeper and deeper. And like, I don't
- 28:03care. I want to watch basketball. I enjoyed watching Dijonae Carrington kiss,
- 28:06kiss Natisha Heideman on the head the other day. That was fun. I enjoy
- 28:10watching the videos of, of these players like actually genuinely
- 28:14enjoying themselves in the league. And you guys are a fucking blight at this point.
- 28:17Yep. By the way, we'd love to talk about
- 28:21how good at basketball you guys are, but you're not letting us. That's the actual
- 28:25thing that I really want to focus on, which we did. We discussed— we discussed—
- 28:27people really, by the way, agreed with us in large part about Bill Simmons just
- 28:31sort of ignoring the elephant in the room of like, what do you mean?
- 28:33Like, are you talking about Olivia Miles? No, he's not.
- 28:37And I want to make this abundantly clear. We don't entirely
- 28:40disagree with Bill's assessment. We do think if you want to talk about
- 28:44it, to be like, how come meanwhile you own the most
- 28:48successful sports podcast network in the country? Like, we are like, we would like
- 28:52to talk about the good basketball and we occasionally get the opportunity
- 28:56to do so. Yeah, but unfortunately there's a lot of bad faith actors
- 29:00around this industry and also a lot of bad faith actors that we're learning
- 29:03that are actually in the fucking league right now. So do
- 29:08you recall ever getting a little beso on the head from a,
- 29:11from a league mate or a teammate? A little what? A kiss.
- 29:15You know, like, did you ever, did you ever get a loving kiss from a
- 29:18teammate? Loving kiss from a teammate? Yeah. I feel like it would really improve baseball
- 29:23if y'all were kissing more. I mean, I have no doubt some of them are.
- 29:26I want to make that a point. Well, I mean, on camera. Oh, okay.
- 29:28So sorry. That's a different thing. No, no, no. I know the boys are kissing.
- 29:30Let's be real clear. Been in a lot of clubhouses. I've seen a lot.
- 29:33I haven't seen it, but there's been some kissing going on. Oh, you've seen some
- 29:36stuff in clubhouses though that's— that is more than just— oh yeah, there's some stuff
- 29:39that's like, guys, I think you just need to take it into the
- 29:43showers. Like, it's okay. Oh yes. Oh, I'll give you those stories.
- 29:47I'm more than happy. Because like, I— but I really— I
- 29:50was thinking about it. I'm like, man, if, if we could just— like, if after
- 29:53the game Travis Kelce went up to Patrick Mahomes and just kissed
- 29:57him on the forehead That would do more for me than any
- 30:02single shot he's had with Taylor Swift in a long time. That's not wrong.
- 30:04I would love— I don't think I've ever gotten a kiss from a teammate,
- 30:07and now I'm upset that I didn't. I'll do it. Thank you.
- 30:10Good teammate. I'm your only teammate. Good teammate. All right, we have—
- 30:15we're going over NFL. We're going over to like— this is the kind of— we're
- 30:19doing it, baby. Dual story of the day. This, along with something we're going to
- 30:22hit on in Media Corner, is kind of the biggest, like, goofy story of the
- 30:25day, although it's not that goofy. You showed me this last night,
- 30:28um, and then you were like, okay, we'll probably end up talking about this.
- 30:31And we are because everybody else is also talking about it. Everyone is freaking
- 30:35out about the fact that Eagles shared a Jalen
- 30:39Hurts practice interception. Uh, the post from the official Eagles account showed a
- 30:43nice play on the ball by Quinyon Mitchell, but what everybody else saw was the
- 30:46continued undermining of the franchise quarterback whose seat is growing hotter and hotter.
- 30:50Exactly what you saw. Um, it was so like The, the video
- 30:54was shot to show Jalen Hurts in such a light that
- 30:57like you had to point out to me what was happening because I was like,
- 31:01okay, I didn't notice the jersey being white. I didn't. I was like, okay,
- 31:04what are you showing me? That's how confusing this video was because
- 31:08of the way it was shot. So I'm going to show— we're going to show
- 31:10you the video. Mocha, click that and we'll show you what we're talking about.
- 31:17Yeah. Put it in slow motion.
- 31:28Fascinating. What a catch! What an interception! I wish
- 31:31they put it to like, to like R. Kelly's I Believe I Can Fly.
- 31:34So they kind of did. So they put like, um, like emotional music over
- 31:38it, and then it was in the slow-mo. And it's— this is the thing,
- 31:41there were a few people trying to sort of say, I don't know why everybody's
- 31:46freaking out so much about this. And I was like, Because number one, I have
- 31:50very rarely ever seen a social
- 31:54media team or a team tweet out a— their franchise quarterback's
- 31:58interception. But if they are going to, you don't
- 32:03foreground the star quarterback and
- 32:07make that like them the center of the video. You take a different angle
- 32:11and essentially you never show Jalen Hurts. And if you want to highlight Quinyon Mitchell
- 32:15making a great, you know, pick, then you do that. I'm not saying that he
- 32:19doesn't deserve to get a camp highlight, but like, this is,
- 32:23this is a quarterback along with Lamar Jackson, who is— and
- 32:26maybe Shedeur Sanders, who has been— had more shit talked
- 32:30about them in the last 2 years than anybody in the league.
- 32:34They know that is a very odd choice. And the people being like,
- 32:38I don't know, you know what? No, you can highlight Quinyon Mitchell without
- 32:42doing that. Like, If you don't have the video that doesn't fucking center Jalen Hurts
- 32:46throwing a pick, you don't post that video. Don't— absolutely do not
- 32:50gaslight me into thinking— then it said right on cue. Yes, it did.
- 32:53Right on cue. That's a cornerback.
- 32:57He wasn't supposed to throw it there, guys. Like, come on. What the fuck are
- 33:00we doing? Guys, I don't know what to tell you other than the fact that
- 33:03anyone's like, what are you guys freaking out? We're not freaking out. We're just—
- 33:08how fucking stupid do you think everyone is? Like all
- 33:12your anonymous sources this offseason and the hit pieces on Jalen fucking Hurts
- 33:16in the last year of his guaranteed money in his contract. Like, this is like
- 33:20so fucking blatant. Like, it's fucking insulting.
- 33:24Eagle fans should be fucking just insulted. It's embarrassing.
- 33:28Even if it's not a— like, let's, let's say whoever posted the video,
- 33:33there was not this like, I've been told to make Jalen look
- 33:37stupid. I don't necessarily think that. I think it's actually way worse
- 33:40than that, which is that there is such an institutional lack
- 33:45of genuine regard and respect for the franchise
- 33:49quarterback that this stuff doesn't even occur to the idiots running the social
- 33:53media account. Now, I want you to think about the level of respect
- 33:57and regard that's held for Josh Allen. Oh, baby. For— he's
- 34:01perfect. You know, I like, I think, I think about
- 34:04like the idea of anyone ever posting that about Tom
- 34:08Brady. And I knew every single one of those social media people, they wouldn't have
- 34:11dared. And by the way, Belichick would have loved it. He would have been like,
- 34:14hell yeah, really? Like, make him look stupid on the internet. He'll— it'll fire him
- 34:17up. They never would have done it. Um, they would never have done this
- 34:21to Aaron Rodgers or any of these dudes. You don't see this stuff from about
- 34:25like, you know, any of these other quarterbacks. I can't even imagine them doing that
- 34:29to Dak. Like a Cowboy, like never. They would never do that. It's fucking
- 34:33weird. So don't tell— no, I know. I was here
- 34:37when all this started. I was here when social media started
- 34:40for these teams. Like, I literally am that old. Cody's that old. We remember
- 34:45before Twitter, before teams had social media. This shit does
- 34:48not happen. That man is a highly
- 34:51paid franchise quarterback with a Super Bowl MVP, and they're like, Would you
- 34:56like— by the way, can we just say this, Cody? Yes. Not even that great
- 34:59of a pick. No, not really all that crazy. It was like kind of shallow
- 35:02and funky and like it seemed like the wide receivers were a little off.
- 35:05Like, I thought it was fine. I thought it was fine. I just— it just—
- 35:09if it wasn't like a one— like, I— if this had been like a holy
- 35:13shit play, like part of me would be like, ah man, Jalen, they got you
- 35:16on that one because Quinyon made an absolutely gorgeous play. This was sort of an
- 35:19ugly down-low pick. I didn't love it. There was nothing about it. But I did
- 35:23notice that Jalen Hurts was the centerpiece of the entire show. Like he was.
- 35:26He had everything around center frame blurred,
- 35:29just perfect. Like, they had him in fucking portrait mode. Yeah,
- 35:32they made sure Jalen was heavily— you could see the fucking
- 35:36whites in his eyes. Like, it was clear as day who
- 35:40this man is. It was such a fucking, like, joke too, because you're like,
- 35:43oh, this is gonna be cool, a nice little pass, little, little touch, you know,
- 35:47a little, uh, completion in camp. And then Quinyon Mitchell comes in, you're like,
- 35:50no, no, no, they're not, they're not doing this for a Jalen Hurts pick,
- 35:54right? They're not— oh no, oh no, they are. Oh, they definitely
- 35:58are. Oh, they are. It was fucking weird. It was so fucking weird. The disrespect
- 36:02towards that guy is unbelievable. Let's, um— but we do have a couple of quarterback
- 36:05headlines also to throw on top of it. Nothing crazy, but I mean, congratulations to
- 36:09you and me. We tried to tell everybody. They said we were crazy. They said
- 36:12we were crazy, but we always knew. Not only were we right about Kyler Murray
- 36:16absolutely becoming the starting quarterback in Minnesota.
- 36:20But it was announced before they— they prematurely were like, you know what,
- 36:24never mind on J.J. McCarthy. We're not going to continue this charade. It's definitely Kyler
- 36:27Murray. Thank you all for coming. And we told everybody that.
- 36:32Yep. We, by the way, this wasn't a question a couple of weeks ago.
- 36:34We said it, but we also said it months ago. Yes. We weren't quiet about
- 36:37this from the moment they got Kyler Murray. We were like, oh, it's over.
- 36:40Yeah. Oh, CJ. Yeah. Good run. Yeah. So there's—
- 36:45there's that. We knew that was coming. I thought it— I think it's really,
- 36:48really smart and a great sign for the Vikings and for
- 36:51Kevin O'Connell, who I again really respect, that he was able to just
- 36:55say, you know what, I'm not going to play this game. I know who my
- 36:58quarterback is and I want him to get as many of the first-team reps throughout
- 37:01the rest of training camp, uh, preseason as possible. That's very smart
- 37:05to do. Don't play the game. And that's, uh, that's kudos
- 37:09to the ownership as well and to the people in the front office who are
- 37:12not going to make him do the charade of like protect the look of our—
- 37:15it's all completely correct. They already look like idiots for letting Sam Darnold
- 37:19go to start JJ. They're not going to make this. And you know what?
- 37:21Know when you've made a mistake and you have to just call it. And they're
- 37:24doing that. So props to KOC, to Ziggy. Well, like all of everybody, just get
- 37:28right to it. Let's get— let's get to work. Like one team that's not doing
- 37:31that at all, and I'm— this is gonna shock you, and I
- 37:35don't even— I'm not even gonna make you guess because it's so hard, so I'm
- 37:39just gonna tell you. Cody, it's the Cleveland Browns. The Cleveland Browns have a quarterback
- 37:41issue? No way. Yeah, yeah, it is. Yeah, can you believe it? Um, so head
- 37:45coach Todd Monken announced, uh, Deshaun Watson will start their preseason opener against the
- 37:48Bears, and then Shedeur Sanders is slated to start week 2 as the position
- 37:53battle rolls on. This is a true position battle. They are truly selling
- 37:56it. They're committed to the bit. Unlike the Vikings, they are fucking morons who can't
- 37:59figure this shit out. And when I, when I tell people the difference between,
- 38:02um, legitimately functional organizations, this is a very clear highlighting, uh, thing because
- 38:06What I will say, Todd Monken, if he had
- 38:09his— if he had his pick, would probably have neither of these people
- 38:13as his quarterback, to be quite honest. But they did
- 38:17want Shedeur Sanders to back up Lamar Jackson in
- 38:21Baltimore. So I know for a fact that he would have been fine
- 38:24coaching Shedeur Sanders before he was even in Cleveland.
- 38:29Uh, Shedeur declined when they said like, hey, would you want to come, you know,
- 38:32whatever? He said, I still want to see if I can go somewhere to start.
- 38:34So they skipped him in the draft. Um, under— understandable.
- 38:38Like, at the time, he unders— he had every reason to believe he could,
- 38:41uh, land with a team where he had a chance to start. And he knew
- 38:44the Lamar Jackson of it all was kind of a deal-sealer
- 38:48on his ability to be a franchise quarterback there.
- 38:51Kudos to him. He knew what was up, whatever. Ends up going in the 5th
- 38:54round. But Todd Monken was, um, absolutely already on board with coaching somebody
- 38:58like Shador and saw him as a viable option to back up
- 39:02Lamar. Whereas Deshaun Watson has
- 39:06been literally like, take everything about
- 39:09the fact that he's a horrible predator off the table.
- 39:12He's been awful at football. Can't wait to
- 39:17see it for years. Yeah, I can't wait to see it for you. As I
- 39:21don't care if you think everything about what Shedeur Sanders did on that awful,
- 39:25horrific offense with a lame duck coach last year, if you take
- 39:28everything away from him, if you just start clean slate as if he's fucking nobody.
- 39:32He's better than Deshaun Watson. And by the way, he's not nobody. There's a
- 39:36ton there that's worth caring about and developing. But like,
- 39:41Cody, when was the last time— what was it like? When was the last
- 39:44time Deshaun Watson did anything? Well, that was 2 Achilles
- 39:48surgeries ago and dozens of accusations ago.
- 39:53I don't know. I don't remember. I don't even remember the last time he was
- 39:55good here. There was a time where he was good over there in Houston.
- 39:58But yeah, man, that was like a fucking decade ago. This is like a clown
- 40:02show. They will not let it go. They will not.
- 40:05Good. Fucking cut your losses. You paid him the $230
- 40:09million. It was really fucking dumb. Pay him his
- 40:13money and get him out of our fucking lives. Like,
- 40:16stop doing this. I would love that to happen. It's just never gonna fucking happen.
- 40:20They're gonna— these guys are— it's never fucking going to be the
- 40:24fucking second and third string quarterback on that team until we die. At this point.
- 40:27He was a Pro Bowler last year, by the way. I didn't agree with it,
- 40:29but he was a Pro Bowler. Shador. Shador. Yeah, yeah. Oh, because everybody else—
- 40:33like, it's, it's because I, I know the reasons, but it's still funny to me.
- 40:36It's very funny. It's just fucking funny. How are you not starting Deshaun Watson over
- 40:39Pro Bowler Shador Sanders? Fucking Pro Bowler, dude. What the fuck? Got more Pro
- 40:44Bowls than Deshaun in the last couple years for sure. That's what I'm talking about.
- 40:47I'm just saying. Um, so yeah, those are— I thought that that was an interesting,
- 40:50uh, juxtaposition of like 2 quarterback battles,
- 40:54one where they were like, you know what, we gave you enough of the joke.
- 40:57Of course we're not starting J.J. McCarthy. And then one where they're like, no,
- 41:00totally, Deshaun Watson could totally work for us still. Fuck off. Well, Tanya, let's get
- 41:04over to Media Corner because we're staying with the quarterback subject. And I'm glad we're
- 41:07starting here because a little palate cleanser to get to our
- 41:11fucking rage. So Jayden Daniels having
- 41:15a very normal day, huh? Jayden Daniels being a real weirdo,
- 41:19dude. What the fuck is this? All right, let's tell everybody what the fuck is
- 41:22wrong with Jayden Daniels. So Jayden Daniels, the current
- 41:25Washington Commanders quarterback, an absolutely stud
- 41:29rookie season, had a little bit of a down year last year, but a really
- 41:32promising quarterback in the same class with Drake.
- 41:36Is he— he's the same class as Drake and Caleb
- 41:40Williams. So in a statement to ESPN attributed to Daniels' family
- 41:44spokesperson, the quarterback's family said it was deeply disappointed and feels profoundly
- 41:48disrespected by LSU's decision to give Jayden's number to another
- 41:52player. The statement said the family thought his number would be honored
- 41:56and protected in recognition of his extraordinary contributions to the university.
- 41:59And so they sent a cease and desist letter to LSU over
- 42:03NIL rights. The number was given— his number
- 42:075 was given to cornerback DJ Pickett this offseason. So not
- 42:11a quarterback, a cornerback. First-year LSU head
- 42:14coach Lane Kiffin told reporters this month that Pickett was promised number 5 during the
- 42:18recruiting process. When Brian Kelly was, uh, the Tigers coach. So he— I
- 42:23love Lane throwing Brian Kelly right out of there. I love that. It's actually like—
- 42:26I don't like Lane Kiffin, but that's funny. I don't like either of them,
- 42:28but like, so like, you know, uh, 2 dumb bitches, right? Yeah, I hope
- 42:31they eat each other. Pickett was a 5-star prospect and one of the nation's
- 42:35top defensive backs. And, uh, Pickett's father Damian confirmed the
- 42:39story Thursday morning. Joe Burrow, who won the Heisman Trophy for LSU after
- 42:43the 2019 season, has also not had his jersey retired by the school,
- 42:46although no player has worn it since Burrow and the Tigers finished undefeated
- 42:51and won a national championship, added Thursday. If Daniels deserves to have his number 5
- 42:55retired, Kelly responded, absolutely. And Joe too,
- 42:58as well as players like Glenn Dorsey and a few others.
- 43:01LSU bylaws are preventing deserving players. So 2
- 43:07things you need to know about Jayden Daniels. Yes, it's not the first time he's
- 43:09had some controversy around his college associations. And this is not the
- 43:13first time that they've done something a little bit like kind of a little
- 43:16wonky. He has a very outspoken
- 43:20and sometimes problematically so mom who's very proactive
- 43:24in his public life. Very much so. I'm not here to shit on anybody's mom
- 43:28and I'll never do it. Like, she's not committing a crime. She's being a boy
- 43:31mom. And sometimes they can be insufferable, but more like a middle school
- 43:35mom who's insufferable. Well, I mean, more like a dance
- 43:39mom. Have you met a stage mom? Yeah. Stage mom. Same shit.
- 43:42So we're getting a little bit of that mixed in.
- 43:46And I will say this before I get into how social media is reacting.
- 43:50I don't think that in any way, shape, or form, like, focus on
- 43:54getting your big contract in the NFL, focus on your NFL
- 43:58season. I am— I will say your number
- 44:02going to a cornerback before Joe Burrow's number goes to anybody.
- 44:06Okay, I'm raising an eyebrow. Fucking send it to the group chat,
- 44:09bro. Bitch and moan about it. This does not need to be a public thing,
- 44:12and it doesn't need to be an NIL thing. His exit from Arizona
- 44:16State was also like really weird. Yes, it was. The like his
- 44:20teammates like packing his shit up out of the locker room and stuff.
- 44:23He clearly has a little bit of a problem,
- 44:26you know, always getting along in these spaces.
- 44:31I think that some of the critiques are something I want to hear your opinion
- 44:34on. Um, well, I don't have an issue with this number
- 44:38being given out at all. No. Um, like, one,
- 44:43your number's not retired. Quick act— honestly, just quit acting like a
- 44:47little bitch. Like, this is fucking bitch behavior, period.
- 44:50Stop. Every— everyone would think this. This is embarrassing.
- 44:54Um, that being said, like, I don't—
- 44:57the, the Burrow over Jayden Daniels thing, I think, is like—
- 45:01it's— I think it's an angle that people are trying to really kind of focus
- 45:04on, and I'm not really on that one on this one. I mean, Burrow did
- 45:07win a Heisman and win a national championship. So numbers-wise,
- 45:11I guess it technically would put him over Jayden Daniels a little. But like,
- 45:15honestly, who gives a shit? You're in the NFL. Close your fucking yearbook.
- 45:19Like, is this— they hurt your feelings because they gave your number?
- 45:23That is real bitch behavior. I officially am taking the under
- 45:26on the Commanders, by the way. So, I mean, it's not a great sign,
- 45:29although I will say of all the quarterbacks who can pull this off, Jayden Daniels
- 45:33he's kind of like this guy. Like, he'll be like doing all this shit
- 45:37and then he'll lock in with his like fucking, you know, play-generating goggles. And no,
- 45:41it's weird. I'm telling you, it's weird. But what I will say is, um,
- 45:45you know, a few, a few people from the media— I'm gonna read you a
- 45:49couple of their responses because there's something that's happening on in some of the discourse
- 45:52that I don't like. And I think you and I are gonna agree because you
- 45:55just alluded to it. That's it. So, uh, we got Danny Canal and Jordan Moore
- 45:58saying essentially like, this is Like, this is— he's getting horrible advice.
- 46:01It's bad optics, egotistical kind of brat move. Uh, between this,
- 46:05uh, how weird he is, um, was he on quarterback
- 46:09and how he comes across, now we're starting to get into his personality.
- 46:12I'm a little funky with that, but like, you know, if you think he's a
- 46:17weird guy, it's okay, but let's be a little careful. Okay, fine.
- 46:20Uh, early returns have the most public perception against Jayden Daniels,
- 46:23uh, being that Louisiana is turning against
- 46:27him. I hope JD and his team feel this whole thing is truly worth it
- 46:30because losing the favor of Louisiana is a major fumble. Okay,
- 46:34I'll like— sure, if that's what's happening in Louisiana, I'll take your word for it.
- 46:37Don't care what RG3 said. Here's where
- 46:41things get a little funky. Let's hear it. Will Compton,
- 46:45who we'll be talking about in the next segment, said, how many big
- 46:49games did he win at LSU? Oh, shut the fuck up. Uh,
- 46:52Brett Bud Elliott said Joe Burrow led a team to a ring
- 46:56and was one of the most historic seasons ever. Daniels is such a
- 47:00whiner. Get over yourself. So here's what I'm going to fucking say.
- 47:04This, this shit where we can't critique the thing and
- 47:08decide we're going to retroactively rewrite his college career
- 47:12to mock him. Yep. Is it sort of ends up
- 47:16circling back around to making me understand his point.
- 47:21You, you guys, I was perfectly willing to say, Jaden, shut the
- 47:25fuck up, you're being weird. Yeah, this is weird behavior. You're distracting yourself. I'm perfectly
- 47:29willing to say that because I've— this is not the first time I've seen Jaden
- 47:31kind of act like a little bit of a brat. Couldn't agree more. And by
- 47:35brat, I just mean like, just shut up. Like, I don't think he's like uniquely
- 47:38entitled, I'm just saying. But like, the— we're not
- 47:42gonna clown a Heisman winner for not winning a natty in, in the whole Discord.
- 47:46So Leave this out of it because, by the way, was it—
- 47:49I'm sorry, was it— was it Jayden Daniels who had Justin Jefferson
- 47:54and Ja'Marr Chase as his fucking wide receivers and Patrick Queen on his defense?
- 47:57Or was that Joe Burrow? If Joe Burrow didn't win a national championship
- 48:02with that fucking team, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, everybody, then okay,
- 48:05so now we're going to go Heisman for Heisman to prove his
- 48:09point that Joe Burrow is not being treated better. By the way, Just,
- 48:13just so we're really clear about where everything lied.
- 48:16Yeah. Joe Burrow again had better passing numbers
- 48:20because he had 2 of the best wide receivers in the
- 48:23fucking country in the history of college and now in
- 48:27the NFL. These are arguably Justin Jefferson and Ja'Marr
- 48:31Chase right now are the 2 best receivers in the NFL. And they were his
- 48:342 starting wide receivers on his national team. That is not— listen,
- 48:38Jayden Daniels had Malik Nabers and like Who the— who
- 48:41was it? Brian Taylor, James, whoever it was, some other dude who's like,
- 48:44fine, let's draft in the first round. Not those 2.
- 48:48What I want to know is like,
- 48:51if we're gonna clown— if we're gonna go back and
- 48:54start clowning him for not having a Joe Burrow type season,
- 48:58even though he does have the FBS football,
- 49:03uh, record for passer efficiency. In the
- 49:07history of FBS, he has the passer efficiency record.
- 49:12He had way more rushing yards. He was a mobile dual-threat quarterback
- 49:17in a way that Joe Burrow wasn't. This— is it not
- 49:21proving his point that that's what we do as soon as we think someone's being
- 49:24an idiot? We just rewrite their— call it their entire football career.
- 49:28Um, I'm just curious. I'm going through, um, specifically Will Compton's career.
- 49:32How many, how many fucking big games did you win? Like, the fuck, the fuck's
- 49:35going on here? Yeah, why did ESPN hire you just now? Like, I'm, I'm a
- 49:38little fucking confused here. Like, you're telling me the answer
- 49:42to this is, who the fuck are you, Jayden Daniels? A Heisman winner.
- 49:46Heisman Trophy winner. Nearly went to the fucking Super Bowl with a bunch of college
- 49:49records that you couldn't, you couldn't fucking sniff. And he did it in his first
- 49:52year with the team you played for with like 5 years and you didn't do
- 49:56shit with. Yeah, but like, listen, I'm not also not here trying to shit on
- 49:59your career. You were an NFL player. I will. You played 9 seasons. I didn't
- 50:02play at all, so I can shit on all your careers equally, and I can
- 50:05tell you right now who meant something to football and who fucking didn't. And no
- 50:08one even remembers you played football. I had to look up your fucking
- 50:11stats. I— which, by the way, good on you, you played 9 seasons in the
- 50:15NFL, that's good shit. But I'll tell you this right now, you saying who the
- 50:18fuck are you to Jayden Daniels, motherfucker, get a mirror. Who the
- 50:22fuck do you think you are saying that shit? Now I agree that Jayden Daniels,
- 50:26this is a fucking bitch-ass move. What are you doing, buddy? Like, fucking knock it
- 50:29off. But Why is it that we can't just say that without being like,
- 50:32and also Joe Burrow was better than you? Uh,
- 50:36hold on. If you're going to do that, I would be really— I would
- 50:40be really quick to look at who else is agreeing with you in talking that
- 50:44way. Yeah, this is something I always tell people to do. Hey, you want to
- 50:48start mocking Jayden Daniels' college career and,
- 50:51and, and, and doing this thing where you sort of
- 50:56Disingenuously compare it to Joe Burrow. You want to do that?
- 51:00Okay. Let's just— let's just inarticulately
- 51:05compare him to Joe Burrow and then look at who's also
- 51:10posting similar stuff to you. You're now posting the same stuff as Will Compton,
- 51:14MAGA dudes from the NFL. Your take is—
- 51:18is the MAGA white dude guy take In the end.
- 51:21So I would just always consider who it is that's speaking the way that you're
- 51:25speaking before you do it, because all we had to do is be like,
- 51:27hey, Jaden, stop being a fucking drama queen. Shut up. This is a bad look.
- 51:31Go pay attention to your goddamn fucking NFL team.
- 51:33Please shut up. We did— we did not have to go to,
- 51:38oh, and by the way, your Heisman year wasn't even that good. Shut the fuck
- 51:42up, you absolute fucking dorks. Fucking— you guys
- 51:45are such fucking dorks, dude. Yep. So anyway,
- 51:49that's that. Jayden Daniels is weird, but also he was really good at football in
- 51:52college and definitely just as good as Joe Burrow. Everybody fucking relax. Yes. Um,
- 51:56but that— then again, but also, but he's weird. Jayden Daniels, not fucking— knock
- 52:00it off. Yeah, stop. Please stop. Just go play football. Embarrassing, dude. Um, and like,
- 52:04you're about to make a big contract if you have a good year. Please just
- 52:06go play football. Oh my God, like, I hate to be that guy, but yeah,
- 52:09dude, just fucking— well, I said this on the radio the other day. I'm like,
- 52:11these guys only have so much, so much of a window to make their big
- 52:13contract. Like, don't fuck it up. Just Get it done. Close the goddamn yearbook.
- 52:16No one fucking cares. Yeah. Um, let's stay on
- 52:20the, uh— this is a weird amount
- 52:23of attention that Will Compton is getting lately, but ESPN officially announced bussin'
- 52:29and Pete on campus after not renewing, uh, Damian Woody's contract.
- 52:33So Damian Woody is out from ESPN. Another, uh,
- 52:36NFL talent, another, uh, Black NFL talent out of the league,
- 52:39out of the, uh, network. As they announce that Bustin'
- 52:43and Pete on Campus will air Fridays at 2 p.m. Eastern throughout the
- 52:47college football season, with the debut set for September 4th in Baton
- 52:51Rouge ahead of Clemson-LSU, followed by a September 11th stop in Ann Arbor.
- 52:55Friday afternoon program built around Josh Pate and Bustin'
- 52:58with the Boys co-hosts Will Compton and Taylor Luan broadcasting from
- 53:02campus sites that would sometimes but not always double as the week's college game day
- 53:06location. Something to note is that, uh, Will Compton and
- 53:10Taylor Luanne, and I believe Josh Pate as well, but, uh, the Bussin' with
- 53:14the Boys co-hosts are MAGA and hosted Donald Trump on their podcast in
- 53:18advance of the 2024 election. They are,
- 53:21uh— Taylor Luanne has a genuinely bad reputation,
- 53:26um, has had assault charges, has had sexual assault allegations,
- 53:29and he also has, uh, developed a reputation that was very well
- 53:34discussed both in the media and behind the scenes for being really
- 53:39aggressive and dirty player in the NFL.
- 53:43That's Taylor Lewan. Will Compton, again, don't know much about him
- 53:46because he's literally irrelevant outside of the fact that he is this
- 53:50guy's podcast host. And in response to people criticizing
- 53:54him about Trump, farted on camera. So welcome
- 53:59to ESPN. ESPN, you called
- 54:03it a very specific show thinking about these
- 54:072 being on college campuses. Oh yeah, yeah. Uh, well, right away,
- 54:11ladies, cover your drinks. Cover your drinks. They should just call this the fucking Date
- 54:15Rape Hour. The names, Bussin' with the Boys and Pate
- 54:19on campus. Boy, I love a bunch of 40 fucking year olds on campus.
- 54:23Fucking gross. Fucking gross. Everything about this is gross. ESPN, you're fucking
- 54:26gross. You're fucking pathetic. I'm so thrilled I don't work for you. You said how
- 54:30many Pat McAfees do they need? Yeah, how many fucking Pat McAfees does ESPN
- 54:33need? Because now they got what, like 8? Yeah, like I thought, like the whole
- 54:37thing is that like, well, Pat McAfee over at the fucking Hunger Games this week,
- 54:40fucking good job right there. Then he went on TV and fucking defended it.
- 54:43Dude, you guys have all lost the fucking plot. Your fucking brains
- 54:47have turned to fucking mush. The idea— it's fucking embarrassing, man. The idea— it
- 54:52honestly makes me— I've always got a lot of Pat, but Jesus Christ, it makes
- 54:55me feel fucking embarrassing. Well, Pat's like
- 54:59It's like you can have one Pat. First of all, you don't have to pay
- 55:00him $200 million a year. Relax. But you also don't need more of them and
- 55:04less talented ones at that. At least Pat
- 55:08McAfee has a fucking NFL highlight reel. And then on top of it,
- 55:11these dudes are not good. Like, you're, you're hiring
- 55:15former NFL MAGA frat bros to
- 55:20appeal to, like, Literally like
- 55:24MAGA frat boys. Yeah, MAGA frat bros who are 20 years younger than them,
- 55:27who what, like think that they're cool?
- 55:30I'm so confused as to what value this brings to the
- 55:34fucking table. I have no idea. Like, so you're going to, you're going to have
- 55:37this as complementary programming. You've already put Pat McAfee to annoy the
- 55:41fuck out of, out of Nick Saban and everybody else on the goddamn desk.
- 55:46They're starting to figure that out fine. And you're going to add this into the
- 55:49mix. And by the way, you're removing everybody with an NFL pedigree
- 55:54who was actually good at football, who was actually like— they're all the people who
- 55:58like, you're like, I remember their career, they were really good. They're fucking out.
- 56:02Like, they're— they, they, they, uh, fired Bart Scott today too.
- 56:05Like, whether you thought they were good or not, at least they had like NFL—
- 56:08they have literally— they're losing all of them. They're all gone. Even on the baseball
- 56:12side, Carl Ravitch is weirdly still going to call a couple games before he walks
- 56:15out the door. I saw Katie Nolan, uh, saying something about it, about how she
- 56:18had a weird exit. I think she might have said it was from Fox.
- 56:20I'm not sure. She was— she was there at ESPN. Yeah, yeah. So that weird
- 56:24exit from Fox, and I just started laughing. I'm like, you're saying this on SiriusXM?
- 56:27Just you wait, Katie. Just you wait how fucking weird an exit can
- 56:31be, because you have no fucking idea how weird an exit— although her show is
- 56:34doing really well, so is it? Yeah, so she might be safe. But weird exits
- 56:38are sort of status quo at this point. Like, they just are. Everybody's being fucking
- 56:42kicked out on their ass. But I will say, the,
- 56:46the insanity of getting rid of,
- 56:49ahead of football season, all your actually good
- 56:52football players is like— I like—
- 56:57they really actually genuinely think that like this is
- 57:00where sports media is going. And meanwhile, our shit,
- 57:04actually talking about sports, actually talking about genuine stories,
- 57:08people are lapping it up. All they want is to watch like real
- 57:12conversations from people who know what's going on, who have actual analysis.
- 57:17Believe it or not, we're about to get into a— we're about to get
- 57:21into a segment here where that has finally and fully convinced me, and I'm not
- 57:24kidding, that I am a better NFL analyst than
- 57:28a lot of actual NFL players. I, I just am.
- 57:32I just am. And that is okay. The boys
- 57:36are going to have to fucking deal with it. My eyeballs work and I,
- 57:39and I don't have an ego the size of the fucking state of Texas
- 57:42that's going to impinge my ability to be honest.
- 57:47Dan Orlovsky is a sociopath. And if anybody watches Game of Thrones
- 57:52or House of the Dragon, I need you to understand that my impression
- 57:56of Dan Orlovsky at this point is, is Ormund Hightower-esque.
- 58:01I think he is a— is like an, an actual narcissist
- 58:06sociopath whose eventual ousting
- 58:09from this industry will be perhaps
- 58:13one of my great pleasures. Protect our women. Protect our
- 58:17women. Protect our— that's Dan Orlowski. We must protect our women and our fun.
- 58:21Remember that. I will never fucking forget, Dan. No, I am.
- 58:24I'm gonna remind you. He's not— he's not kidding. Fucking time. And if I
- 58:28ever see you, I'm going to remind you of that tweet where you inadvertently
- 58:32tried to get a female boxer killed. Continue.
- 58:35Dan Orlovsky. I can't believe they let him do this.
- 58:39Ranked NFL QBs by trait.
- 58:44Now, what? I already don't love that.
- 58:47The wording. They ranked him, ranked them by trait.
- 58:51So we're talking Psalm 1 and 2. What's the trait?
- 58:55Fucking blond locks and blue eyes.
- 58:58Fuck. Continue. They let him post— put his 1 through
- 59:0210 in NFL quarterbacks at, I don't know,
- 59:05a bunch of pre-designed scouting traits. Oh, traits.
- 59:09Okay, traits. Continue. Uh,
- 59:13we kicked it off strong at arm strength.
- 59:16Um, number 1 is Josh Allen. I know
- 59:19it's gonna shock you. Number 2 is Justin Herbert. Dude, Justin Herbert
- 59:23is so great. He, he requires No criticism for anything ever.
- 59:26Yeah, he is perfect. I loved how he fed grapes to his fucking
- 59:30girlfriend. Sorry, fiancée. Yes. And then number 3 is Caleb
- 59:35Williams. So right there, right there, you've lost
- 59:38me. And believe me, I did not open this article thinking Dan
- 59:42might have a point. At no point did I hope that Dan had a— like,
- 59:45I wouldn't have even been dumb enough to hope that. But Caleb Williams has
- 59:49the best arm in the NFL. It's not a question. There's no fucking question about
- 59:52it. Uh, I've— there— this is not a fucking debate. Uh,
- 59:56all these guys have great arms. I, I'm not 100%
- 59:59sure I know what it— what's all going— I mean, Matthew Stafford
- 1:00:04is, is 100 years old. Like, he's got to be lower on that list,
- 1:00:06but whatever. Ball placement. You're going
- 1:00:10to be shocked to know that the first 5 quarterbacks on this list are white
- 1:00:14because they can really place the ball. Number 1, these guys just
- 1:00:18really see feel better, you know? Yeah, Matthew Stafford's great at placing the ball.
- 1:00:21Wow, is it because he literally always has the best wide receivers in the league?
- 1:00:24Boy, I'm noticing that the first 5 are way more quarterbacky. Very quarterbacky
- 1:00:29guy. Very quarterbacky guys. I will say Sam Darnold finally getting on a
- 1:00:34goddamn list. Happy for him. Uh, that's the only thing that's been— that's
- 1:00:37the only way to get him on a list. Yeah, ball placement.
- 1:00:41Ball placement and quarterbacky. Let's look at Dan Orlovsky's all top
- 1:00:45quarterbacky list. Okay, you want
- 1:00:50to know who's the best at mechanics? Yeah, who's, who's quarterbacky on this
- 1:00:54one? Matthew Stafford. That's good, I agree.
- 1:00:57You're gonna be shocked to know that Joe Burrow is number 2, but number 3
- 1:01:01is a real winner. Daniel Jones, baby! The mechanics
- 1:01:06on Daniel Jones. What the fuck is this?
- 1:01:09And then Jared Goff. Listen, it takes us all
- 1:01:13the way until 10 to get to Lamar Jackson. Now, I'll give him this.
- 1:01:16He did not give too much love to Josh Allen on this. He's only put
- 1:01:19him at number 9. Wow. I'll also have you know that Patrick
- 1:01:23Mahomes is nowhere on the mechanics list. Patrick Mahomes has missed out on mechanics.
- 1:01:26He's got none of it. Okay, here we go. Here's the fun one.
- 1:01:30Decision-making with the football. Mr. 4 turnovers
- 1:01:35in the divisional round himself, Josh Allen. Number 1,
- 1:01:39baby. We did it, baby. Number 1. By the way,
- 1:01:42Matthew Stafford also made some pretty major mistakes.
- 1:01:47Not making— not— that's neither here nor there.
- 1:01:50Drake Maye has somehow caught his way into the top 5 of this at
- 1:01:54number 4, which is fucking shocking. And yeah,
- 1:01:59pocket presence.
- 1:02:02This is the fucking funniest list I've ever fucking seen.
- 1:02:06I can't believe— like, it has to be a joke, right? These, these got
- 1:02:10to be trolling, right? You got— this can't be. None of this can be real.
- 1:02:12I wish Mocha knew about football so I could have made him guess about— I'm
- 1:02:16telling you, man, this is batshit. This is like, this is like soap.
- 1:02:19This is like, this is rage baiting type of batshit. Oh, it's,
- 1:02:22it's a, it's, it's like— this is congressmen saying
- 1:02:27like Muslims shouldn't be here type of batshit.
- 1:02:30Um, there was a woman on Threads today that
- 1:02:34was mad that, uh, Tillamook cheddar cheese is halal.
- 1:02:38So that's kind of what this level of rage baiting feels like.
- 1:02:41Um, the number 1 pocket presence quarterback in the
- 1:02:45NFL— bear in mind, you watched all the playoffs and the Super Bowl last year—
- 1:02:48is Drake Maye. It is, it is Drake Maye,
- 1:02:52and then it's Joe Burrow, and then it's Sam Darnold, and then it's Justin Herbert,
- 1:02:54and then Dak Prescott finally makes it into, into that top 5 there.
- 1:02:58Um, I would like you to note that Brock
- 1:03:01Purdy's on here, so I'm glad we got him in there. NFL QB.
- 1:03:04Um, so, uh, they gave Caleb Williams on
- 1:03:08here too. It's like, man, you're gonna give Caleb Williams pocket presence number
- 1:03:117 behind Drake Maye, but you're not gonna give him the arm. Okay, I,
- 1:03:14I just would like to— I, I would just like to— is it, is it
- 1:03:17possible that he got drunk and picked this all out of a hat? No,
- 1:03:20because he's a fucking dweeb who doesn't drink. Fuck. I know. Fuck.
- 1:03:24I almost had an excuse for you, man. Is he into mushrooms or something?
- 1:03:27He does nothing. He won't even get a pedicure. Didn't you see his, his weird
- 1:03:31little— did you see his rant about the pedicures and how, um, men can't
- 1:03:35go get pedicures because that's lame. And like, he was all being like,
- 1:03:38you don't like toxic masculinity about men getting pedicures? You don't like having
- 1:03:42your feet feel better? Like, what the fuck? And he has gross feet and everybody
- 1:03:46ripped him for it. And he's like, like, he's literally like, he's literally the guy
- 1:03:50at the party where you're like, oh, did anyone talk to Dan? Why are you
- 1:03:54here? Fucking listen to these people. Yeah, like, don't you want to like listen to
- 1:03:56somebody that you like? Like, Mocha, we've never hung out, but like We could fucking
- 1:04:00go hang out. Yeah. Oh, I didn't like that response. We can't hang out.
- 1:04:04Oh no, we can. He's just— he gave me a real— he gave me
- 1:04:08a real— he did, but that was a real like— no. Yeah, he's like,
- 1:04:12I could put up with you for like a day. I won't text you later.
- 1:04:15Jesus. Sorry, buddy. Damn. Okay, well, me and Cody are going to the hot tub
- 1:04:18alone then. That's right. We'll miss you. All right, so, uh, before I need to—
- 1:04:22this is my favorite one. This is my favorite one ever. Okay. After all this,
- 1:04:26second reaction ability. So I guess he's our second.
- 1:04:29He's saying like how quickly you can react in the, in the game.
- 1:04:33He's making shit up at this point. But Josh Allen is number 1,
- 1:04:36of course. Basically, if you've— if he's voted you for MVP,
- 1:04:39he's going to make sure you're at the top. Then he gives Caleb Williams some
- 1:04:42love. Patrick Mahomes, Drake Maye, Sam Darnold,
- 1:04:46Bo Nix, and Brock Purdy rank above Lamar Jackson
- 1:04:50in second reaction ability, which is one of the funniest things I've ever
- 1:04:54seen in my life. Well, you got to give him credit. He'd make sure.
- 1:04:56He made sure he gave Lamar number 1 in one category.
- 1:05:01Rushing ability. Guys, Lamar's finally number
- 1:05:061 in his heart because he can run the ball. But don't worry, number 2
- 1:05:08is Josh Allen. Drake Maye, Caleb Williams.
- 1:05:12How did any of these safeties miss? Obviously. Hold on. This isn't even
- 1:05:16the bad one. Look at number 5 and 6 on
- 1:05:20rushing ability. Fuck me. Justin Herbert over
- 1:05:24Jalen Hurts. Would you like to hear the difference
- 1:05:28in their rushing stats just real quick? I, I know it, but I would love
- 1:05:31to hear it. Great. So they both came into the league in 2020, so this
- 1:05:35is a perfect comp. It really is perfect.
- 1:05:39Rushing attempts, 376 for Justin Herbert,
- 1:05:42779 for Josh Allen— I mean, for, uh, Jalen Hurts. Okay,
- 1:05:46Justin Herbert has rushed for 1,750 15 total
- 1:05:51career rushing yards. Jalen Hurts has 3,554.
- 1:05:55That's like triple. Justin Herbert has 15 rushing touchdowns.
- 1:05:59Jalen Hurts has 63.
- 1:06:03Um, so his rushing ability is quite
- 1:06:06literally 3 times better than Justin Herbert's, and they have been
- 1:06:10playing for the exact same amount of time, and somehow
- 1:06:14Justin Herbert came in and ranked ahead of old Picks McGee,
- 1:06:18Jalen Hurts, on the I, I don't know what's happening anymore.
- 1:06:21And I also don't know how Jayden Daniels ended up behind Baker Mayfield and Bo
- 1:06:25Nix. But I'm good with— I'm good with ever— this
- 1:06:30is the last time I'm ever even laying
- 1:06:34eyes. If it says Dan Orlovsky on a byline now, sometimes I'm going to
- 1:06:37see his shit on the internet. The video starts playing, there's nothing I can do.
- 1:06:41But if I get a fucking notification and it says this
- 1:06:45thing, And I— because I'll, I'll go to a rage bait quarterback ranking.
- 1:06:49But if it says Dan Orlovsky, this man,
- 1:06:53this is the biggest joke I've ever seen in my
- 1:06:57entire life. And it is not close. This makes the
- 1:07:01GMs market manipulating quarterback tier rankings
- 1:07:05look fucking genius. It does. This guy has no fucking idea what
- 1:07:10he's talking about. And I used to think that it was rage baiting. I used
- 1:07:13to think that it was like, oh my God, like this guy just knows what's
- 1:07:16going to get clicks. No, that's a white supremacist.
- 1:07:19That's actually just a white supremacist, and that's how they rank quarterbacks.
- 1:07:23So that's, that's the— that's end of story, Cody.
- 1:07:27I, I— there are talented people at ESPN. It just got really
- 1:07:31dark by me. It's— no, it's just you're— it's, it's, it's the mood lighting.
- 1:07:35You— no, that's what I'm saying. It's like I just got really dark. It is
- 1:07:38interesting. The lighting did not change. No, it didn't. I looked around, I was like,
- 1:07:41oh my God, it just It seems as though the devil has come out of
- 1:07:43you. I think it did. It might have. Here's the deal. There are
- 1:07:47talented people at ESPN. I just don't—
- 1:07:50they're all the people who tell Dan Orlovsky he's an idiot on every panel.
- 1:07:53Unfortunately, this is why I'm not on TV anymore. This is why I love Mina
- 1:07:57Kimes, because I think I've seen her agree with Dan Orlovsky maybe like once or
- 1:08:01twice, like, you know, a broken clock situation. If the more
- 1:08:04you disagree with Dan Orlovsky's football— like, I hate
- 1:08:08to make— I hate to be one of those people who is beefing with someone
- 1:08:11who's objectively more like successful in terms of like money and, um,
- 1:08:15and visibility than me. But like, I don't have that level of insecurity.
- 1:08:19Like, people will always be like, well, he's on ESPN and who are you?
- 1:08:23I'm somebody who literally understands football. And unfortunately, that man
- 1:08:26who ran out of the back of the end zone is not, not it.
- 1:08:29Listen, I could have— I would have got my ass kicked. I would have never
- 1:08:32been able to be an NFL quarterback. But what I wouldn't have done is run
- 1:08:34out of the back of my own end zone. What I wouldn't have done is
- 1:08:36gone on 16. That's not like— I want to make this abundantly clear. Like,
- 1:08:39yeah, I think that's funny that people are like, well, he works on ESPN.
- 1:08:41We've— cool, so have I. You worked at FS1 forever. I literally
- 1:08:46was there for 7 years. You ran basically a fucking network for 7 years.
- 1:08:50I've worked at FS1, I've worked at MLB Network, I worked at all these fucking
- 1:08:52places. And you know what I learned at all these places? No one fucking
- 1:08:57has a clue. Yeah, because they'll say that, but then they'll be like, oh,
- 1:08:59why do you listen to Skip Bayless and SAS? Oh, they— but they, they worked
- 1:09:02at ESPN. They were— fuck off, who cares? Do you know the idiots
- 1:09:06that all these people employ? We just finished talking about bussing with Pate.
- 1:09:10Like, let's be real fucking clear, like, this is all a
- 1:09:14clown show. There are smart people there. He said,
- 1:09:17he said that Bo Nix is a better rusher than Jayden Daniels.
- 1:09:23I got nothing for you guys. My light's back. I, I feel like,
- 1:09:26God, they're, they're— remember when ESPN was fucking
- 1:09:30cool? It was 2006 and it was fucking awesome. There was a
- 1:09:33good time there. There was a really good time over there. Yeah, it was Fucking
- 1:09:36cool. There was even some good times in the Obama years. There was some good
- 1:09:40times where like Obama was playing basketball with like Chris Paul and stuff.
- 1:09:43That was— but like, don't you remember we used to be informed? Like,
- 1:09:47we used to be a society. Oh, by the way, wait, hold on. I have
- 1:09:50to show you this because I had a viral comment and I think you're gonna
- 1:09:53really like this. I can't wait to hear this. I think you're gonna really like
- 1:09:55this. So there was a, um, so you know the Madison
- 1:09:58Beer Justin Herbert thing? Yes. Oh, do I ever. Uh,
- 1:10:02Well, Jackson Dart took his best shot at going
- 1:10:05viral for the same reason. No one gives a fuck about you, Jackson.
- 1:10:09And he has like a— I think I don't
- 1:10:12want to talk down about her because I don't know. I,
- 1:10:15I literally don't know who she is, but I assume she's dating Jackson Dart,
- 1:10:18so I don't have a high opinion. Yeah. Like, I assume that she's— she looks
- 1:10:22like an Instagram type hot, probably blonde girl. Yeah. And they posted
- 1:10:25Jackson Dart's girlfriend, Marissa Ayers, visited him in the Giants' first home
- 1:10:29practice in East Rutherford, and they're like, She's on the court getting
- 1:10:33him water or on the field giving him water, kissing him. And I
- 1:10:37just posted underneath, our NFL QBs used to marry the most famous supermodels
- 1:10:40in the world and then abandon them from August to February in their quest for
- 1:10:44glory. We used to be a real society. And like,
- 1:10:48I'm not going to lie, I'm nostalgic. I'm nostalgic for
- 1:10:52dudes who married real celebrities and then decided that
- 1:10:56they weren't going to talk to them for 6 months. Yep. That's— I'm tired of
- 1:10:58these little fucking bitches. I'm tired of these bitches.
- 1:11:01Marry, by the way, be Jalen Hurts and marry like a
- 1:11:06hot, like, tech woman who's smarter than all of us
- 1:11:10and like be a power couple or be Tom
- 1:11:14Brady and marry Gisele Bündchen and ruin your
- 1:11:17marriage for 10 years straight until she finally leaves you for a jiu-jitsu instructor.
- 1:11:21Be interesting. These people are so goddamn boring.
- 1:11:24Yeah. Learn, learn, learn from other people. That have made these mistakes.
- 1:11:27Don't ever marry an Instagram model. Well, don't ever do it. I don't know who
- 1:11:31has ever done that, but I'm just saying, don't ever do it. It doesn't end
- 1:11:35well. Instagram model?
- 1:11:39Um, I, I wouldn't know, but I suggest—
- 1:11:44and I wouldn't know, I wouldn't know, but I'm just saying, in your hypothetical,
- 1:11:47I also— in the hypothetical situation, do not date
- 1:11:51anyone that is really only looking for
- 1:11:56internet attention, Instagram model, and that's it.
- 1:11:59Yeah. Yeah. You know, it's just my opinion. It's my opinion. It's what I don't
- 1:12:03look for at all. Yeah. Ever. Not because of my past
- 1:12:08at all. No, because of this hypothetical. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. No, I'm on
- 1:12:12the same page with you. It's a hypothetical. Yeah. Hypothetically, of course. Yeah, for sure.
- 1:12:16You ever been married? Imagine if Mocha was like, don't do it.
- 1:12:19Mocha's like, I was divorced 5 years ago. Oh, you and me both, buddy.
- 1:12:23Halfway divorced. That a boy, me too. That'd be really funny.
- 1:12:27He's, he's like literally a child. Let me tell
- 1:12:30you about Roxanne. Roxanne? Yeah, it's hot and heavy for a little
- 1:12:35bit there. Mocha has 3 kids we don't know about. Yeah, he's just like,
- 1:12:37he's like, do you know anything about Burma?
- 1:12:40I'm like, sadly yes. Jesus Christ, tell me more.
- 1:12:44Mocha's secret life. We're gonna write you a whole fan fiction, my dude. You're gonna
- 1:12:47be a whole fucking Uh, if we get big enough, people are definitely gonna
- 1:12:51write Mocha fan fiction. I mean, they don't know what's going on back there.
- 1:12:53You're gonna be like fucking elves and shit. Yeah, that's why you can never see
- 1:12:57my face. We should show your face, you're handsome.
- 1:13:01Yeah. Oh, very handsome. He's very— dude, he's camera ready.
- 1:13:06No, but there is— yeah, there is something to being the face behind.
- 1:13:09Yeah, yeah, to pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. Yes.
- 1:13:13Yeah, yeah, right now he's just the fucking man in the chair. That's right,
- 1:13:17that's right. We're out here, we're out here performing like clowns, and Mocha's
- 1:13:21cool. We're out here in these fucking streets and he's back there fucking pulling all
- 1:13:24the strings. Yeah, you're not fooling anybody. All right,
- 1:13:30well, we did it. We did it. Um, really quickly, just for Pop Culture Corner,
- 1:13:34just really quickly, uh, Lanterns comes out this weekend. So fucking fun. Um, can you
- 1:13:38just fuck off, by the way, because you're gonna be gone? I'm gonna watch it
- 1:13:41in Hawaii. No, I wanted to watch it together. We're gonna watch it next week.
- 1:13:44We'll watch that episode. No, we're watching it. And Chris is gonna come. We're gonna
- 1:13:47cook a tri-tip next Sunday and we're gonna watch Lanterns.
- 1:13:50It's like a gigantic family. Mocha, do you want to come over and watch Lanterns
- 1:13:54next week? We're gonna make it a thing. Yeah, see, Mocha's gonna hang out with
- 1:13:58us. That sounded— that did— that sounded— that was actually way more excited. Now you're—
- 1:14:03now you're— now you're an asshole. I really do, Cody. Boy, do I.
- 1:14:06Gee golly willikers, let's do that. All right, let's get the— all right,
- 1:14:11so Bad news. We will be off next week, but it is only
- 1:14:15for one week. I will be holding down the feed a little bit with some
- 1:14:18of my own content just to— just so, you know, the people
- 1:14:22don't miss out. Hey, I will have my away kit. Maybe we do an emergency
- 1:14:26quick little Zoom podcast. I don't want to talk. I want you to shut the
- 1:14:30fuck up. I'm not going to be able to lay on the beach. I'm not
- 1:14:32going to be able to get drunk. I'm going to, but I could do a
- 1:14:35podcast while drunk. Clearly, we don't have that issue. Yeah,
- 1:14:39well, yeah, we either way, there will be stuff that pops up on on the
- 1:14:42regulars feed on my Instagram. Like, they'll be— I'll be doing my normal stuff,
- 1:14:45but also I'm gonna do a little, a little bit of, uh, the regular stuff
- 1:14:48though, you know, some, some, uh, clips from the last shows and all that stuff.
- 1:14:51So you will not see an empty feed, but we will not be back until,
- 1:14:55uh, for a live show in the studio until the following Monday,
- 1:14:5824th. That's right. Yeah, so thank you guys.
- 1:15:01Like, I want to make this abundantly clear, this week off— I don't
- 1:15:05take a whole lot of time off ever. This is actually my first vacation I've
- 1:15:07had in over a year. I'm the reason that we've missed shows. Like, literally,
- 1:15:10I'm the only one who's taken time off. No, I, I have like— this is
- 1:15:13a weird thing about me, and this is true— I have a weird guilt when
- 1:15:17I'm— no, no, that's not you. That's, that's all— that is literally everyone in this
- 1:15:20industry. If you've been in sports or you've been in sports media, it literally like,
- 1:15:24it, it trains you. When I— I think I took 2 sick days at
- 1:15:28Fox Sports in 7 years. I've never taken a sick day like this entire—
- 1:15:31and one of them was I literally broke my wrist that day.
- 1:15:36And then the other one was my stepfather died. My dad died
- 1:15:40and I worked that day on SiriusXM. Um, I didn't
- 1:15:45take a single day off. To be fair, that was probably just dissociation, but possibly
- 1:15:48that as well. I think they would have given you the time off. I,
- 1:15:51I worked there. I don't trust them at all. Well, fair enough. I have stories,
- 1:15:55and don't worry, I will tell them soon. You know that, um, when I was
- 1:15:5825 I was, uh, I had just become a news editor. I wasn't even 25,
- 1:16:01I was 24. I was in my first year of news editing at NBC Sports
- 1:16:05Boston, and my, uh, best childhood friend died in a car accident tragically
- 1:16:09at the age of 25. And I, uh,
- 1:16:13I told, you know, I called out of work that day, and then when I
- 1:16:16went back into work, I told her when the funeral was going to be.
- 1:16:17And my boss said, are you going to need the whole day off for
- 1:16:22the funeral? Jesus. Jesus Christ. And I looked at her and I was like,
- 1:16:26Yes, my best friend just
- 1:16:30died and he was 25. I think I'm gonna
- 1:16:34not take the half day and pop in after I've seen a 25-year-old's
- 1:16:38dead body with all of my best friends. Thanks though. So you know
- 1:16:41what, Cody, I understand the absolute fucking trauma
- 1:16:45of the day because I'm the same exact way. My mom, my— all
- 1:16:49my friends, anybody will tell you it's been really hard for me to not stress
- 1:16:53about not taking time off. I fully get it. That's why I'm bullying you,
- 1:16:57because I get how hard it is. I know, I know I need it.
- 1:16:59But, um, I do end up needing an emergency pod,
- 1:17:03then I have my stuff. Well, we can— my mic's gonna be with me.
- 1:17:06Yeah, I'm just— you're just FaceTiming. We can— we'll do a fucking emergency FaceTime.
- 1:17:09I'm gonna have my 4K camera, my laptop. I'm gonna have everything I can possibly
- 1:17:12need to actually run a show. That being said, I— the plan is we're going
- 1:17:15to be off all next week. And, uh, thank you for, uh— but you don't
- 1:17:19know what could happen. I mean, listen, you don't know. Like, Tom Brady could decide
- 1:17:22to run for president, then we gotta pop off. Then I'm sorry. That's why I'm
- 1:17:24taking my mic. Because if something goes apeshit, I got to make some videos.
- 1:17:26If there's genuine breaking news, we'll be done and done. You'll see us if that's
- 1:17:30the case. But I will be in Hawaii on the North Shore of Oahu.
- 1:17:32If you happen to be over there and see me, anybody who watches us is
- 1:17:36on the North Shore. You never fucking know. Yeah, Cody will be there. I will
- 1:17:39be there for a week and I'm really excited for it. And a good little
- 1:17:42getaway and then getting right back to fucking work. It's football season here, baby.
- 1:17:45Well, I'm so excited. I'm excited to watch football with you. We're going to— we're
- 1:17:49going to hold it down here. We are. We're going to have Sunday football every
- 1:17:52Sunday. We're going to be barbecuing it up. We might do some content through the
- 1:17:55entire thing, start getting ready to do some, uh, specialty shows. Hell, yesterday was
- 1:17:59really our first ever specialty show. I mentioned that, and it even—
- 1:18:02it's even here. Maria says, uh, the emergency pod helped for our time
- 1:18:06off next week. So it absolutely did. And also, like, um,
- 1:18:09just in general, I think as we head into this season and we
- 1:18:14get different opportunities, we may end up having guests.
- 1:18:17There's going to be things happening. We're building into the Super Bowl. It's getting
- 1:18:21to that time. We like— listen, we've been doing this for about 5 months now,
- 1:18:24and we've— I really think we've built something really fun, and we've got a good
- 1:18:28core of listeners and audience that is really starting to join us.
- 1:18:31And as that time goes forward, I think it's time for us to start maybe
- 1:18:34experimenting a little bit. We're growing up. We're like, we're in our— we're in our,
- 1:18:37uh, we've graduated from preschool to elementary school, and we want a little autonomy.
- 1:18:41And also, like, you gotta understand, this studio has a lot more to offer.
- 1:18:45It really does. We're gonna start playing around a little bit. Yeah, yeah. Oh yeah,
- 1:18:48we've got a lot going on. Yeah, so it's gonna be a great time,
- 1:18:50and, uh, we're really excited for you guys to be joining us. Everybody bully Cody
- 1:18:54into not doing work unless he has to. Follow me on Instagram, Antihero Baseball.
- 1:18:58You're gonna like all the shit I'll be posting over there from, uh, from Oahu.
- 1:19:01Yeah, uh, and I've, and I've already promised the crew, and I'm gonna promise them
- 1:19:04more, Cody's gonna post thirst traps. She is adamant that I need to start
- 1:19:08posting more. Yeah, because I can't carry all the hotness load on the show.
- 1:19:12I don't think think I'm attractive though. I do, but I think you're attractive and
- 1:19:16I want you to— my girlfriend does too. And I don't know what the fuck
- 1:19:18you girls are looking at. I know, we're just— we've had me— we had a
- 1:19:21meeting and we said more, more Cody thirst traps. All right, thirst traps
- 1:19:25are coming. Lots and lots of them. A lot of taps. I can't hold down
- 1:19:28the hotness factor all by myself. Well, you put out the knees. I don't do
- 1:19:31that. I put out more than knees, but you know, people really, uh, they're graphic.
- 1:19:34Yeah, fuck. Well, later we'll see you guys in a week and a half,
- 1:19:38right, Mocha? Fuck. Well, catch our next show on OnlyFans.
- 1:19:41Tanya, fuck Curt Schilling. Fuck Curt Schilling. We'll see
