- 0:00Welcome to the guitar Jet Podcast, where you'll skyrocket your knowledge of theory,
- 0:05techniques, and fundamentals for guitar. Hey, they're fellow guitarist and welcome to
- 0:11episode five of the Guitar Jet Podcast. I'm your host, Miles, and
- 0:14today I'm going to tell you the basic definition of our peggios, how to
- 0:17construct minor and major arpeggios, and the most popular techniques for playing our peggios.
- 0:23I decided to make this episode because my two most recent YouTube videos on
- 0:26the guitar Jet YouTube channel are all about our peggios, and on top of
- 0:29that, I just love our peggios. So so back and let me tell
- 0:32you what our peggios are on the guitar. So, what the heck's and
- 0:35our pegio? Well, it's a broken down chord. That means they'll play
- 0:39the notes of the chord individually rather than in harmony, and doing this results
- 0:44in in our peggio. They're useful in almost every musical situation, including composing
- 0:49melodies, improvising, writing and playing fast guitar solos and acoustic fingerstyle. On
- 0:55top of this, learning our peggios will help you visualize and understand your fret
- 1:00and help you understand this further, I'll tell you how to build major and
- 1:03minor r peggios, which are fundamental to learn. So, the first and
- 1:07easiest type of our peggio to learn is the major rpeggio. Major R peggio
- 1:11contains a root, a major third, and a fifth. For example,
- 1:15let's apply this to a C major chord. The notes in the C major
- 1:19chord are ce ng. When you play those notes together, you're playing a
- 1:23chord, But when you play the notes individually, you'll play the C major
- 1:27R peggio. And the next type of our pegio you'll want to learn is
- 1:32the minor R peggio. Minor arpegio contains a route, minor third, and
- 1:36a fifth. Basically, you're just taking your major arpeggio and flattening your third.
- 1:41For example, when applied to a C minor chord, you'll get the
- 1:44notes C E flatten G, and once again, when you play those notes
- 1:49individually, you'll be playing the C minor R pedgo. All right, now,
- 1:55let's talk about the many techniques that you can use to play our peggios.
- 1:59So first one is probably pretty obvious. Downstrokes. Downstrokes are a great
- 2:04way to play our peggios if you're playing them at a slow tempo. And
- 2:07the second technique is alternate picking, which is a great technique to play all
- 2:12sorts of different arpeggio shapes on guitar, and of course it's a must know
- 2:15technique in general and can be applied to almost everything you play on the guitar.
- 2:21And the third technique is hammerons and pull offs. Hamerons and pull offs
- 2:24are useful for playing one octave arpeggios our peggios on single strings and two notes
- 2:30per string our peggios. You'll generally combine hammerons and pull offs with downstrokes and
- 2:36upstrokes. The fourth technique is tapping. Tapping is the most iconic and fun
- 2:40way to play our peggios and rock and roll, and it's a relatively easy
- 2:44technique to learn, a difficult technique to master. All those little tapping licks
- 2:50that you heard at a Van Halen play are well, they're generally our peggios.
- 2:55The fifth technique is sweet picking. This is the best way to play
- 3:00our pegios that use one note per string. It's similar to a strumming motion.
- 3:05Is actually not too hard to learn if you're practicing the technique properly,
- 3:09and the six technique is fingerstyle. Fingerstyle or petios are common, sound great,
- 3:15and work especially well for acoustic guitars. Just know that finger style or
- 3:19pedgios do not technically count as true our peggios due to the fact that the
- 3:23notes in a finger style or a pedgio generally ring together rather than in harmony.
- 3:30Or sorry, they ring together in harmony rather than ringing out individually.
- 3:35That's what I mean to say. So now that you've learned what our peggios
- 3:38are on guitar, go ahead and start practicing. If you all, learn
- 3:40some practical and easy arpeggio shapes and check out my recent video Guitar Ar Pedgios
