- 0:08Speaker 2: It is time believe your worries outside and laugh with
- 0:13Speaker 2: us inside the Treehouse. I'm Daniel Malley along with Trey Trendholm.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Today coming up inside the Treehouse Show Today, we are
- 0:23Speaker 2: going to explore gen x, pride and.
- 0:26Speaker 3: Prejudice with our new friend jen x Gina. But first.
- 0:34Speaker 2: We're going to start with something that a lot of
- 0:37Speaker 2: men start with if we've been good, and that's lingerie.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Case you missed it, Sydney Sweeney has started her own
- 0:50Speaker 2: lingerie line called Siren s y Are in and not
- 0:58Speaker 2: since Bill Cosby pushed jail Low Pudding has a finer
- 1:02Speaker 2: match been made.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Of all things? Why are you comparing it to Bill Cosby?
- 1:12Speaker 3: Bill Cosby in Pudding?
- 1:13Speaker 4: Uh huh?
- 1:15Speaker 2: Because that's how my parents would get me to take
- 1:17Speaker 2: my medicine as a child. They would crush up my
- 1:21Speaker 2: prescription pills and put it in my pudding so I
- 1:24Speaker 2: would take my medicine.
- 1:26Speaker 4: How ironic.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I thought. When he got arrested and
- 1:33Speaker 2: I found out what for?
- 1:35Speaker 3: It's like, man, my parents did that to me.
- 1:38Speaker 2: My wife looked over very slowly, Like I'm like, I'm
- 1:41Speaker 2: not just I'm like put the pills in the pudding.
- 1:43Speaker 3: They didn't do anything.
- 1:44Speaker 2: It was just, you know, that's just how because I
- 1:47Speaker 2: was a very sick child. It's a very sick child.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Had lots of prescription pills that I was on at
- 1:53Speaker 2: various times, and I couldn't swallow pills very well. So
- 1:57Speaker 2: my parents, like it was a capsule, you know, they
- 2:00Speaker 2: would just just pop it open and just pour it
- 2:04Speaker 2: into into some pudding and then I would eat it
- 2:06Speaker 2: and therefore take my medicine.
- 2:09Speaker 4: You weren't a young Gypsy Rose.
- 2:15Speaker 3: No, what's Gypsy Rose?
- 2:20Speaker 4: I think she?
- 2:20Speaker 1: I think that was her name, the girl that her
- 2:22Speaker 1: mom fed her a bunch of drugs saying she had cancer,
- 2:25Speaker 1: but she really didn't.
- 2:27Speaker 4: She ended up killing her mom.
- 2:29Speaker 3: God, I was thinking about the strip club in Austin.
- 2:33Speaker 4: No, that's uh the Yellow Rose.
- 2:36Speaker 2: My bad got my roses switched on her goes to
- 2:42Speaker 2: show my priorities in life. Yellow Rose, I know that
- 2:45Speaker 2: Gypsy Roath.
- 2:45Speaker 3: I'm a little.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Foggy, probably because of the medicine.
- 2:50Speaker 3: Anyway. Uh.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Sidney Sweeney has started her very own lingerie line. This
- 2:55Speaker 2: all started a couple of weeks ago when she was
- 2:57Speaker 2: busted for hanginging bras on the Hollywood Sign and that
- 3:03Speaker 2: got posted on social media, and I believe it was
- 3:07Speaker 2: the La County Sheriff's Department said they would be investigating
- 3:10Speaker 2: because that would be trespassing possible vandalism, to which I
- 3:15Speaker 2: think we all thought, I don't think there's a whole
- 3:17Speaker 2: lot to investigate here. He's on video, clearly Sidney Sweeney
- 3:23Speaker 2: hanging her underwear from the Hollywood Sign. I think the
- 3:26Speaker 2: investigation is going to be pretty shortfellas. But it turns
- 3:30Speaker 2: out it wasn't just a silly social media stunt. It
- 3:34Speaker 2: was part of a guerrilla marketing campaign to announce the
- 3:38Speaker 2: launch of her Siren Syrn lingerie line. Now Bill Cosby
- 3:44Speaker 2: putting aside, this really makes sense. And when you talk
- 3:48Speaker 2: about a celebrity coming out with some type of a
- 3:51Speaker 2: product these days, you don't really know what it's going
- 3:54Speaker 2: to be, Like The Rock coming out with tequila, even
- 3:58Speaker 2: though he's got polynesia heridage and okay, kind of the
- 4:05Speaker 2: same thing with George Clooney and mister Cindy Crawford they
- 4:09Speaker 2: had tequila as well. Ryan Reynolds doing a cell service
- 4:14Speaker 2: like what and gen and gin and soccer. So you
- 4:18Speaker 2: have all these celebrities that have these products, and a
- 4:21Speaker 2: lot of times they're surprising because they don't align with
- 4:24Speaker 2: the things that you associate with that celebrity. This is
- 4:29Speaker 2: one of those that makes perfect sense. Sidney Sweeney launder
- 4:32Speaker 2: a line. I mean, if the if the high heel fits.
- 4:39Speaker 1: I mean.
- 4:41Speaker 4: Yeah, uh yeah, just bras alone, she can sell them.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely, And they are selling, by the way, it's
- 4:51Speaker 2: doing very very well. Sidney Sweeney's debut Seductress collection for
- 4:58Speaker 2: Siren sold out in record time. Following a viral grilla
- 5:01Speaker 2: marketing stunt involving the Hollywood Sign. She draped dozens of
- 5:05Speaker 2: bras over the historic Los Angeles Landmark to announce the launch,
- 5:08Speaker 2: blending the aesthetic of old Hollywood with a provocative modern edge.
- 5:13Speaker 2: In other words, thongs, it's really what we're talking about here.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Following the massive success of the initial release, Siren is
- 5:22Speaker 2: expected to restock and expand its range, solidifying Sweeney's position
- 5:27Speaker 2: as a powerhouse in the celebrity led apparel space. No
- 5:30Speaker 2: surprise there, She's already used to solidifying things, and she's
- 5:34Speaker 2: also officially mastered the art of spectacle, so you know
- 5:39Speaker 2: what good on her. I'm a big fan in diversifying
- 5:43Speaker 2: if you can take your celebrity and leverage that into
- 5:50Speaker 2: other things, whether it's like if you're an actor getting
- 5:53Speaker 2: into directing and producing, or if you're a celebrity and
- 5:57Speaker 2: you're an actor getting into something else, like a bunch
- 5:59Speaker 2: of the other people we already mentioned to, you know,
- 6:03Speaker 2: carrying on a different thing, Like the reason why I
- 6:06Speaker 2: know what aviation gin is is because of Ryan Reynolds.
- 6:12Speaker 2: So it makes sense to capitalize when when you're hot,
- 6:16Speaker 2: you've got to take that opportunity and run with it.
- 6:18Speaker 3: And that's exactly what Sidney is doing here.
- 6:22Speaker 4: I mean, it's I hate to say it, it's the
- 6:24Speaker 4: Kardashian model.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Yeah, and it and and they weren't the first.
- 6:31Speaker 2: I mean, Trump, I think did it even before the
- 6:34Speaker 2: Kardashians did, with slapping his name and all sorts of products,
- 6:38Speaker 2: with licensing deals, steaks, waters, other things like you couldn't
- 6:43Speaker 2: get away from it. And and it's very very common
- 6:47Speaker 2: in Hollywood to do it. It's just it doesn't always
- 6:49Speaker 2: land as well as some of these have. And I
- 6:53Speaker 2: don't know why some do so much better than the others.
- 6:56Speaker 2: I mean, but you know Sidney Sweeney and underwhere it's
- 6:58Speaker 2: you know that seems obvious.
- 6:59Speaker 4: I mean for me, the og of this category is Kiss.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Oh yeah, absolutely. They slap their name on everything and anything.
- 7:10Speaker 4: Horse, absolute Horse.
- 7:14Speaker 2: It really is amazing to have a legendary rock group
- 7:18Speaker 2: be considered bigger hores than the horse that they screwed
- 7:21Speaker 2: when they were on tour.
- 7:24Speaker 3: And it's really not even fair to those ladies.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Are you here's a side just I'll totally Are you
- 7:30Speaker 1: a fan of Kiss?
- 7:34Speaker 3: Not really?
- 7:36Speaker 2: I like, I like a couple of their songs, But
- 7:38Speaker 2: to me, Kiss is such a weird, weird entity because
- 7:43Speaker 2: it's they're not just a band. Gene Simmons like they
- 7:45Speaker 2: they were a show. They are an entity. They are
- 7:49Speaker 2: a product, right, they are a brand. They're not just
- 7:52Speaker 2: out there singing songs. Because if you listen to the
- 7:57Speaker 2: music and then you look at the band as they
- 8:01Speaker 2: perform the music, they don't really match because they kind
- 8:05Speaker 2: of look like death metal when you see him in concert,
- 8:10Speaker 2: but then you hear their songs like Beth Detroit, rock City,
- 8:18Speaker 2: rock and roll, all night, rock and roll all night,
- 8:21Speaker 2: I mean one of my favorite songs as well. If
- 8:27Speaker 2: I keep them from Loving You song, the one that
- 8:29Speaker 2: was in the Fall guydeal. They have some great songs,
- 8:31Speaker 2: but the music doesn't match the look. The look looks
- 8:34Speaker 2: like death metal. I let the songs the songs sound
- 8:37Speaker 2: a little more like I don't know, don Hinley, I just.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Don't think I I think they were to me just
- 8:45Speaker 1: kind of mid And I mean, if you made me
- 8:47Speaker 1: list top twenty rock bands, Kiss would not be would
- 8:51Speaker 1: not be on that list.
- 8:53Speaker 2: But if you did a top twenty rock brand, oh yeah,
- 8:58Speaker 2: he's they got to be in the top just because
- 9:00Speaker 2: they are so well known because of the branding. And
- 9:04Speaker 2: you're right, I mean, Kiss slap their name on everything.
- 9:06Speaker 2: If they could sell it, lunch boxes, the all time
- 9:11Speaker 2: what's that coffins? Coffins is the all time? Buy a
- 9:14Speaker 2: Kiss casket. Now I'm thinking Sidney Sweeney could go into
- 9:22Speaker 2: that same thing. Would well that's better than my initial
- 9:31Speaker 2: thought which was, well, just I mean, just you know,
- 9:37Speaker 2: a casket with Sidney Sweeney on it, so that way you.
- 9:41Speaker 3: Get to take her with you to the grave. But
- 9:43Speaker 3: also would yeah.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Forever, would the Sydney Sweeney casket line anyway? Good on
- 9:56Speaker 2: her for branching out, but at the same time staying
- 10:02Speaker 2: well within her lane. It's like, here's what I'm known for,
- 10:06Speaker 2: Here's what.
- 10:06Speaker 3: I'm gonna do.
- 10:07Speaker 2: Bamt Like Jessica Simpson out of nowhere. She had a
- 10:12Speaker 2: shoe company and she's made more money on her shoe
- 10:14Speaker 2: company than she ever has with her music.
- 10:17Speaker 3: It's amazing.
- 10:23Speaker 4: Which one of them from Kiss just died? Not Jeane
- 10:30Speaker 4: Ace Freely?
- 10:32Speaker 3: Yes, it was Ace. It was Ace. Yeah.
- 10:34Speaker 1: I wonder if he had a Kiss casket or he
- 10:37Speaker 1: didn't want to pay the licensing fee.
- 10:40Speaker 3: I think Jean's told him.
- 10:41Speaker 2: He Jeane told me he'd have to pay for it,
- 10:42Speaker 2: and he was like, nah, not even Kiss members get
- 10:47Speaker 2: a Kiss casket for free. Gene will charge you full price.
- 10:56Speaker 5: Or the trehouse business online air dot com.

- 13:12Speaker 3: Before we bring in our new friend jen x Gina,
- 13:15Speaker 3: let's get a little taste of what she does here
- 13:19Speaker 3: inside the treehouse.
- 13:20Speaker 7: Whatever happened to gleeking? You know, and you just like
- 13:24Speaker 7: like randomly open your mouth and it would sprace alava
- 13:27Speaker 7: like a broken sprinkler head. You don't hear much about
- 13:31Speaker 7: it anywhere. So many of these things from our youth,
- 13:35Speaker 7: they're just gone. I'm just making some coffee and.
- 13:39Speaker 8: I gleaked, not to be confused with.
- 13:44Speaker 7: Waking. That's when I sneeze or cough or laugh too hard.
- 13:51Speaker 7: Those are accidental gleekings. Intentional gleekings are a whole another story.
- 13:58Speaker 7: You know, the time where you're walking down the hall
- 13:59Speaker 7: and the boy gleeks at you on purpose, and you
- 14:04Speaker 7: wouldn't want to do that today, because.
- 14:08Speaker 8: You wouldn't want to do that today.
- 14:10Speaker 7: Anyway, let me know if you've ever been gleeked upon,
- 14:14Speaker 7: And for those of you who still do it, congratulations
- 14:17Speaker 7: for keeping the tradition alive.
- 14:19Speaker 8: I already don't.
- 14:20Speaker 7: Trust my mouth time I open it something, but you
- 14:24Speaker 7: know his mouth I always trust.
- 14:30Speaker 2: With the Say hi to your mom for his tag.
- 14:32Speaker 2: Brought to you by jen X Gina, and let's bring
- 14:35Speaker 2: her on right now. Gina, welcome inside the treehouse. Thanks
- 14:38Speaker 2: for hanging out.
- 14:39Speaker 8: With us, Thanks for having me.
- 14:42Speaker 3: This is a real treat for us.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Trey, I don't know if you found her stuff before
- 14:46Speaker 2: I did, but both being gen xers the algorithm and
- 14:51Speaker 2: you found us so well.
- 14:54Speaker 3: Yeah, so Trey, were you first?
- 14:57Speaker 2: Do you think I'm going to say you were probably
- 15:00Speaker 2: first on the gen X Gina.
- 15:03Speaker 1: I think I found her account I'm gonna guess probably
- 15:06Speaker 1: about a year ago, and.
- 15:11Speaker 4: Found her stuff quite entertaining.
- 15:14Speaker 1: And then I realized, uh, not so long ago, that
- 15:17Speaker 1: she's local to the DFW area like us.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Yes, yes, North Texans unite. That's right there, you go,
- 15:27Speaker 2: all right, So Trade just said it. He found you
- 15:30Speaker 2: about a year ago.
- 15:31Speaker 3: How long have you been on the gen X GENA
- 15:34Speaker 3: content machine.
- 15:36Speaker 9: Well, I started about three and a half years ago
- 15:39Speaker 9: on TikTok and just started making videos with my dogs
- 15:44Speaker 9: because my best friend kept sending me videos from TikTok
- 15:47Speaker 9: and I would just you know, heart them or whatever.
- 15:49Speaker 9: I wasn't opening them. I was like, I don't want
- 15:52Speaker 9: another app. Well I finally opened it and it was like, oh,
- 15:55Speaker 9: she is. I've always wanted to be a performer and
- 15:59Speaker 9: this was like the peri opportunity for me to be
- 16:02Speaker 9: one behind the camera where I'm safe and because I'm
- 16:05Speaker 9: an introvert, so uh.
- 16:08Speaker 8: And I just started.
- 16:11Speaker 9: Making little lipset videos and stuff like that, and then
- 16:14Speaker 9: they pushed me into the gen X niche.
- 16:17Speaker 8: I had one video that was a stitch video go
- 16:19Speaker 8: viral and that I.
- 16:21Speaker 9: Was determined to be nicheless right and just do fun
- 16:24Speaker 9: stuff what I wanted to do. That doesn't work on
- 16:26Speaker 9: social media. You have to have a niche. So they
- 16:28Speaker 9: shoved me into that one. To be honest with you,
- 16:30Speaker 9: I didn't know. I didn't know I.
- 16:32Speaker 8: Was gen X. I didn't know the generations. I had
- 16:34Speaker 8: no idea like it was.
- 16:37Speaker 9: I was like, what's gen x, you know, and then
- 16:40Speaker 9: I had one. I would post on Facebook periodically and
- 16:43Speaker 9: I had one go viral on Facebook and it just
- 16:47Speaker 9: from there.
- 16:47Speaker 8: So that's been my main platform since then.
- 16:51Speaker 9: I mean, I post on Instagram, but you know, they
- 16:53Speaker 9: don't they don't pay you, so.
- 16:56Speaker 8: Focus you know where they go.
- 16:59Speaker 2: Yeah, it's definitely a different world when you go in,
- 17:01Speaker 2: you know, when you go from doing something for fun
- 17:04Speaker 2: and then switching over to, oh, I can get paid,
- 17:07Speaker 2: especially if you hit a certain level like you did,
- 17:10Speaker 2: and you realize, okay, am I just doing this as
- 17:12Speaker 2: a fun little hobby or once once the money bag
- 17:15Speaker 2: starts popping up, you're like, well, I believe I'm going
- 17:18Speaker 2: to follow that because you can still do the same stuff,
- 17:21Speaker 2: but might as well follow the yellow brick road, right
- 17:24Speaker 2: mm hmm.
- 17:24Speaker 9: Yeah. And I have a lot of fun doing it
- 17:29Speaker 9: because I'm extremely sarcastic and extremely I don't know, I
- 17:34Speaker 9: don't know the word for it. But you can't always
- 17:36Speaker 9: bring that into your real life, you know. And it
- 17:41Speaker 9: was away from it was like the devil on one
- 17:42Speaker 9: side of the angel on the other.
- 17:43Speaker 8: I got to be that sarcastic.
- 17:46Speaker 9: I get to be that sarcastic kind of borderline mean
- 17:50Speaker 9: part that everyone has in them but doesn't necessarily get
- 17:52Speaker 9: to express. And so it's been it's been, to be
- 17:56Speaker 9: honest with you, it's been pretty therapeutic for me, getting to,
- 18:00Speaker 9: you know, be kind of sassy and.
- 18:04Speaker 8: Myself, but sassier than my normal self.
- 18:07Speaker 2: I guess, well, and you're basically letting Yeah, you're you're
- 18:11Speaker 2: basically letting your gen X flag fly. And for those
- 18:15Speaker 2: of us that are gen X, like you said, you
- 18:19Speaker 2: didn't really know what gen X or certain generational things were.
- 18:22Speaker 2: Is it that you were completely undaware or you just
- 18:25Speaker 2: didn't realize how hardcore gen X you were until someone
- 18:28Speaker 2: pointed it out.
- 18:30Speaker 9: That that's probably more truth roout there, Dan is that
- 18:35Speaker 9: I did a few videos where I was extremely sarcastic
- 18:39Speaker 9: and sassy, and sometimes you get there's a fine line.
- 18:43Speaker 8: That you have to walk, especially on Facebook because there's.
- 18:47Speaker 9: Lots of rules, but there's a fine line where you
- 18:49Speaker 9: don't want to turn people off to your sarcasm, but
- 18:53Speaker 9: you want to push it to that limit. And then
- 18:56Speaker 9: I realized everyone in gen X was like that. Everybody
- 19:02Speaker 9: was like, oh, I do the same thing, I'm the
- 19:03Speaker 9: same way, And I thought, Okay, this is a pretty
- 19:06Speaker 9: cool niche because I really don't have to watch what
- 19:08Speaker 9: I say too much, except for cursing and stuff like
- 19:11Speaker 9: that on some platforms. But I got to I got
- 19:16Speaker 9: a little taste of what our generation is, and we
- 19:19Speaker 9: are sarcastic, and that kind of is our love language,
- 19:22Speaker 9: and that's how we poke at each other, and that's
- 19:24Speaker 9: how we communicate a lot. And then I had a
- 19:27Speaker 9: couple of reels where I did the whole year mom thing,
- 19:29Speaker 9: and now people expect it at the end of every video,
- 19:33Speaker 9: and if it doesn't come organically, I won't do it
- 19:36Speaker 9: because I don't script anything.
- 19:37Speaker 8: I just turn on the camera and start talking. So
- 19:40Speaker 8: there's a lot of disappointment when that tagline is in there.
- 19:44Speaker 2: So we understand that, and we relate to a lot
- 19:47Speaker 2: of the stuff you put out because it is gen
- 19:49Speaker 2: X and we are gen X, so obviously we relate
- 19:51Speaker 2: to a great deal of it, not the least of
- 19:53Speaker 2: which is a huge agreement that I also believe sarcasm
- 19:58Speaker 2: is gen X's secon at language, and it may actually
- 20:02Speaker 2: be first, and then English came second. Yeah, but you
- 20:07Speaker 2: have that relatability that comes in and I don't know
- 20:12Speaker 2: any other generation that has that thing as much as
- 20:17Speaker 2: I feel like we do when it comes to the
- 20:19Speaker 2: level of sarcasm and the expectation that you just said.
- 20:23Speaker 2: People enjoy something and they love repetition. They don't like change, yes,
- 20:27Speaker 2: and we've dealt with that on our side. So in
- 20:31Speaker 2: your videos, your people want to see that your mom
- 20:34Speaker 2: thing at the end. And for our listeners, they wig
- 20:37Speaker 2: out if we don't play our proper intro music. If
- 20:39Speaker 2: they don't hear William Orbit and they don't hear it
- 20:42Speaker 2: for a certain amount of time, they give us hell.
- 20:45Speaker 2: They're like, you didn't play it long enough.
- 20:46Speaker 3: Start over. It's weird.
- 20:48Speaker 9: Yes, it is weird because, like I said, sometimes organically
- 20:52Speaker 9: I can't think of anything to do to your mom.
- 20:54Speaker 9: And sometimes at the end of video I'll be like,
- 20:56Speaker 9: well I can't think of anything, so and they even
- 20:59Speaker 9: appreciate that because I'm.
- 21:00Speaker 8: Still acknowledging it in a way. So you learn, you.
- 21:04Speaker 9: Learn what your followers want, like you said, And if
- 21:07Speaker 9: I do something different, like I love cosplay stuff, I
- 21:10Speaker 9: like to address up as characters and perform as different
- 21:14Speaker 9: characters and kind of put that little thing on. But
- 21:17Speaker 9: that those videos don't get pushed and so what I'm
- 21:19Speaker 9: gonna start doing is doing that for subscribers. So subscribers
- 21:24Speaker 9: are going to have to see a lot of variation
- 21:26Speaker 9: in this coming year from me because I have to
- 21:30Speaker 9: do things that I really enjoy to be able to
- 21:32Speaker 9: do this at all.
- 21:33Speaker 8: Otherwise you just get burned out doing the same thing
- 21:36Speaker 8: over and over. As you probably understand.
- 21:38Speaker 1: That, have you had any just side question, have you
- 21:44Speaker 1: had any problems with I know a lot of people
- 21:46Speaker 1: are complaining that TikTok's algorithm has changed and their videos
- 21:49Speaker 1: aren't getting put out like they were.
- 21:51Speaker 4: Have you had that problem.
- 21:52Speaker 9: Too, I'm not posting there anymore. Oh, okay, No, there's
- 21:59Speaker 9: too much going on there that's not good. And I
- 22:01Speaker 9: don't make I don't make any money to speak of
- 22:04Speaker 9: on TikTok.
- 22:04Speaker 8: They don't push my videos.
- 22:06Speaker 9: There's there's a couple of bis you'll probably know, a
- 22:09Speaker 9: couple of or three really large creators for gen x content,
- 22:12Speaker 9: and they got in like twenty twenty during lockdown and
- 22:16Speaker 9: were able to build their brand before I even came
- 22:20Speaker 9: on the picture and so my videos I had a
- 22:22Speaker 9: couple go viral in the last month or so, But
- 22:24Speaker 9: the pay is.
- 22:26Speaker 8: So ridiculously just it's awful that I just.
- 22:30Speaker 9: Decided, with all the stuff going on over there, that
- 22:32Speaker 9: I'm not gonna I'm not gonna post over there.
- 22:35Speaker 8: But I do get my six videos from there, so
- 22:37Speaker 8: I have to stay on there because I have to
- 22:38Speaker 8: get those.
- 22:40Speaker 3: Oh sure, yeah, that's yeah, that's that's inspiration.
- 22:43Speaker 2: And that makes total sense to me, not just from
- 22:45Speaker 2: a business standpoint, but also just from a personal standpoint,
- 22:48Speaker 2: because I've I've started treating TikTok and really any social
- 22:52Speaker 2: media platform if it goes through any sort of major change. Yeah,
- 22:55Speaker 2: I look at it the same way. When it comes
- 22:58Speaker 2: time to buy a new cell phone, we're waiting in
- 23:00Speaker 2: line for day one of the new phone because the
- 23:03Speaker 2: first phone out of the shop is not going to
- 23:06Speaker 2: be the good one. You want to wait a few
- 23:08Speaker 2: months for all the bugs to work out. Kind of
- 23:10Speaker 2: the same thing with TikTok or any other platform you
- 23:12Speaker 2: go through a massive change like they are right now.
- 23:14Speaker 2: I'll wait a little bit, let me see how things
- 23:17Speaker 2: shake out, and maybe, and I'm not.
- 23:19Speaker 8: Saying I'll never.
- 23:22Speaker 9: Post on there again, but right now, with what I'm hearing,
- 23:25Speaker 9: it's just not it's not worth my time to even
- 23:29Speaker 9: post over there.
- 23:30Speaker 8: Anymore.
- 23:30Speaker 3: So I'd also.
- 23:31Speaker 8: Stealthly tell my followers to follow me on other platforms.
- 23:35Speaker 2: You know, to understood the I will say this, Uh,
- 23:42Speaker 2: if you ever feel lost and you want just a
- 23:47Speaker 2: sounding board to try to come up with how to
- 23:50Speaker 2: how to squeeze in your mom thing, we got you covered.
- 23:55Speaker 3: We can have I'm not saying you need it or
- 23:58Speaker 3: anything like that.
- 23:59Speaker 2: I'm just saying if you you feel stuck and you
- 24:00Speaker 2: want to pop off a text to the Treehouse, we'll
- 24:03Speaker 2: come up with if you use them, if you want,
- 24:05Speaker 2: don't whatever. But trust me, this room knows how to
- 24:10Speaker 2: slam moms.
- 24:11Speaker 8: Well you already.
- 24:15Speaker 3: Some of these are intentional.
- 24:17Speaker 8: Drop that down.
- 24:21Speaker 9: I mean my mind, I'm a scorpio anyway, so my
- 24:24Speaker 9: mind always goes to the dirty side of things when
- 24:26Speaker 9: someone says that.
- 24:27Speaker 8: But as soon as you said squeeze off your mom,
- 24:29Speaker 8: I was like, I need to write that down. Where's
- 24:31Speaker 8: my pen?
- 24:34Speaker 2: We'll have more with gen x Gina coming up right

- 25:38Speaker 2: Speaking of subscribing, we were talking to jen x Gina,
- 25:42Speaker 2: one of our new favorites here inside the Treehouse. Been
- 25:45Speaker 2: enjoying her content over the last year, and we thought,
- 25:48Speaker 2: you know what, let's see if she wants to hang
- 25:49Speaker 2: out with us for a few minutes.
- 25:50Speaker 3: And here she is.
- 25:51Speaker 9: I realized this is I realized this is probably an
- 25:54Speaker 9: interview to join the podcast.
- 25:55Speaker 8: So I'm trying to be on my best behavior.
- 25:57Speaker 3: So oh it doesn't matter there there is no way
- 26:01Speaker 3: to be on worse behavior than any of us.
- 26:04Speaker 9: Oh good, okay, So I'm sure try Trey knows about
- 26:08Speaker 9: my emotional support lip bomb.
- 26:10Speaker 8: You'll probably both do, right that I always have my
- 26:13Speaker 8: lip bomb.
- 26:14Speaker 3: I'm going to pretend that I don't, so so.
- 26:17Speaker 9: Please Okay, Well, this is my emotional support lit bomb.
- 26:20Speaker 9: There's different ones. I have bird speeds and that have
- 26:22Speaker 9: lip smackers. But when I'm really like nervous or that,
- 26:25Speaker 9: I have to upgrade to my other emotional support lip
- 26:28Speaker 9: bombs this one. So I'm gonna thing now I'm less,
- 26:38Speaker 9: I'm less nervous.
- 26:39Speaker 2: Now awesome, all right, So I'm going to put you
- 26:42Speaker 2: on the spot here, so hold on to your butt. Okay,
- 26:44Speaker 2: So I have a feeling I already know the answer,
- 26:48Speaker 2: or at least one portion of your answer, but I
- 26:51Speaker 2: want to know what the rest of it is going
- 26:52Speaker 2: to be. So gen X, Gina, I'm going to assume
- 26:55Speaker 2: that you feel gen X is the best generation. But
- 27:00Speaker 2: if I was to ask you to rank all the generations,
- 27:03Speaker 2: I mean, not of all time, but you know, just
- 27:06Speaker 2: rank the generations as we know them. Is gen X
- 27:09Speaker 2: the top one? Is that the best one? And then
- 27:11Speaker 2: what comes after gen X?
- 27:14Speaker 8: Like, well, I mean right now, I do believe we
- 27:16Speaker 8: are the best one.
- 27:17Speaker 9: We still have work ethic, we have still there's just
- 27:20Speaker 9: things we have that I don't think a lot of
- 27:22Speaker 9: generations are grasping right now. So I'm going to say
- 27:26Speaker 9: gen X, Gen Alpha because I hear they're a little
- 27:31Speaker 9: a little they're a little unhinged.
- 27:34Speaker 8: I don't know that for sure, but that's what I
- 27:35Speaker 8: keep hearing is that Gen Alpha is kind of like
- 27:37Speaker 8: gen X.
- 27:38Speaker 9: So I'll say gen X, Gen Alpha millennials and Gen
- 27:41Speaker 9: Z and then boomers.
- 27:44Speaker 3: In the basement.
- 27:46Speaker 9: Yeah, And I hate to say that because I have
- 27:48Speaker 9: three sisters and are boomers and a brother that's a boomer.
- 27:50Speaker 9: And just because you know, just because there's a stereotype
- 27:53Speaker 9: doesn't mean everyone fits it.
- 27:55Speaker 1: You know.
- 27:55Speaker 9: So sure, but that's my That's how I would rank
- 27:59Speaker 9: them probably, but we're the best, obviously, Trey.
- 28:04Speaker 1: It's such a it's it's a that that bottom slot.
- 28:08Speaker 1: It's a fight between gen Z and the boomers, because
- 28:11Speaker 1: I know at least Boomers aren't gonna actually get shell
- 28:17Speaker 1: shocked if you say something uh adverse to them, where
- 28:22Speaker 1: gen Z is like likely to just absolutely fall apart
- 28:25Speaker 1: and GENUS. So you know, my background is in the
- 28:29Speaker 1: bar business for years, so especially over the last ten
- 28:31Speaker 1: years have really dealt with gen Z and and there
- 28:33Speaker 1: they are a sensitive bunch to say the least.
- 28:37Speaker 8: To say the least, yes, no, uh.
- 28:40Speaker 2: The only I think I actually, Trey, would you agree
- 28:43Speaker 2: with Gina's ranking or is it it's like maybe you
- 28:46Speaker 2: would switch Boomers in gen Z, like you put gen
- 28:49Speaker 2: Z in the bottom.
- 28:49Speaker 4: Like I said, that's a that's a that's a like
- 28:51Speaker 4: four A and four B type.
- 28:53Speaker 8: Deal plus close call, close call.
- 28:55Speaker 3: Yeah, they're holding hands down there.
- 28:57Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 28:58Speaker 1: I mean millennials got off easy because we forget how
- 29:02Speaker 1: you know, twenty years ago we loved just slapping them
- 29:05Speaker 1: around and then they they got in it with the
- 29:08Speaker 1: boomers and we were just sitting back watching and then
- 29:10Speaker 1: gen Z came along and we're like, we forgot all
- 29:12Speaker 1: about millennials because millennials are the bunch that I still
- 29:16Speaker 1: don't really understand because they claim they are so troubled
- 29:21Speaker 1: and we're so like tormented by the same events we
- 29:25Speaker 1: lived through exactly.
- 29:27Speaker 2: To me, millennials are the transition generation between gen X
- 29:31Speaker 2: and gen Z.
- 29:33Speaker 8: So there's a little of both, there's.
- 29:36Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, whereas with gen X, I feel like there's
- 29:41Speaker 2: not a whole lot of blending.
- 29:42Speaker 3: I mean, I mean, I've heard the term zenial.
- 29:44Speaker 2: You know, it's like and I'm like, I don't really
- 29:48Speaker 2: buy into Like, to me, if you're gen X, you're
- 29:50Speaker 2: kind of hardcore gen X. Like if I was to
- 29:52Speaker 2: rank the generations, I would probably if we were to
- 29:57Speaker 2: include the greatest generation like our like my grandfather's uh
- 30:02Speaker 2: trays as well and GENA. I'm not sure about yours,
- 30:05Speaker 2: but you know, like fighting in World War two and
- 30:07Speaker 2: all that. To me, they get the top slot. Gen
- 30:10Speaker 2: X is right there on their heels. The boomer thing
- 30:15Speaker 2: is is fascinating.
- 30:16Speaker 3: There's there's.
- 30:18Speaker 2: I'm basically I agree with your ranking. I think the
- 30:21Speaker 2: only difference is I might put Gen Alpha right behind millennials.
- 30:25Speaker 3: I'm not sure yet. I need I guess I.
- 30:27Speaker 2: Need to do more investigating on it, but I do
- 30:31Speaker 2: agree with you that I think gen Z is quietly
- 30:34Speaker 2: the young gen X or sorry, jen Alpha is sort
- 30:37Speaker 2: of quietly the the up and coming gen X style
- 30:40Speaker 2: generation because some reason, like even even some of their
- 30:44Speaker 2: new terms, I'm kind of on board with. Like the
- 30:46Speaker 2: other day we were on the show talking about choppol gangers.
- 30:49Speaker 3: I'm like, that's hysterical.
- 30:51Speaker 2: It's your twin, but the shitty version of it, right,
- 30:56Speaker 2: And so they make up a new word. And usually
- 30:58Speaker 2: we're making fun of these new words, but the Gen
- 31:00Speaker 2: Alpha new words are kind of funny. It's the gen
- 31:03Speaker 2: Z ones that annoy the ship out of us.
- 31:05Speaker 4: But yeah, here's the problem.
- 31:06Speaker 8: I think.
- 31:07Speaker 9: I don't think we have any room to talk about words.
- 31:09Speaker 9: When you look back to eighties slang, you.
- 31:11Speaker 1: Know, yeah, there's we we we had a lot of
- 31:15Speaker 1: bad you know, Valley Girl and other things.
- 31:18Speaker 4: But here's the problem.
- 31:20Speaker 3: With a lot of thinking out loudest Gen X created
- 31:23Speaker 3: gen Z.
- 31:25Speaker 4: Yeah, and I and I have a theory on it.
- 31:28Speaker 3: Please.
- 31:29Speaker 1: My theory is this is that so say you parent
- 31:32Speaker 1: like you were parented. We were parented. We were the
- 31:36Speaker 1: last key kids where you know, it's like basically it
- 31:39Speaker 1: was fuck around and find out. You know, oh yep,
- 31:42Speaker 1: you know you're going to figure out that that outlet
- 31:44Speaker 1: will hurt you, and you know the hot band, don't
- 31:46Speaker 1: touch it and everything else. And I think that same
- 31:49Speaker 1: I think that same attitude was was taken towards gen Z,
- 31:54Speaker 1: the X factor being internet and social media, and because
- 31:58Speaker 1: it was that hands off you'll figure it out. Well,
- 32:00Speaker 1: the problem is they figured out, but you could if
- 32:04Speaker 1: you want to be a cat, we would have to
- 32:06Speaker 1: have tried to look in like the World Book Encyclopedia
- 32:09Speaker 1: or go to the Dewey decimal system and figure out
- 32:11Speaker 1: a book on how.
- 32:12Speaker 4: To be a cat.
- 32:13Speaker 1: They just were like, oh, hey, I want to be
- 32:15Speaker 1: a cat, and they found other people online and so
- 32:17Speaker 1: they want to be a cat too.
- 32:19Speaker 4: You now have cat people in the worst way.
- 32:24Speaker 9: Well, I hear a lot of a lot, like a
- 32:27Speaker 9: lot of my Stitch videos are done with gen Z
- 32:29Speaker 9: because they're the ones talking and crap about us. And
- 32:33Speaker 9: I get a lot of people in the comment section saying, well,
- 32:36Speaker 9: we raised them, so how can you complaining?
- 32:38Speaker 8: Okay, this is what I don't get. Yes, we raise them.
- 32:43Speaker 9: What we can do as parents, society finishes raising your children.
- 32:48Speaker 9: You don't finish raising your children. Society does. And that's
- 32:52Speaker 9: what I can't seem to get through people's heads is Yes,
- 32:55Speaker 9: I'm sure I've made a lot of parenting mistakes. I'm
- 32:58Speaker 9: paying for some of them now. But like you said,
- 33:01Speaker 9: we parented similar to the way we parented, or we
- 33:04Speaker 9: were parented because we didn't know better, We didn't learn.
- 33:09Speaker 9: My mother never communicated anything with me, I never learned
- 33:12Speaker 9: about starting my period. For goodness sakes, we just didn't talk,
- 33:16Speaker 9: you know, So I don't know. It's just there's so
- 33:20Speaker 9: many unhealthy trends too.
- 33:23Speaker 8: Among gen Z.
- 33:24Speaker 9: I'm not going to get into those just for personal reasons,
- 33:26Speaker 9: but going along with the mainstream whatever's cool, then that's
- 33:30Speaker 9: not necessarily healthy, that.
- 33:32Speaker 8: Kind of thing.
- 33:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I think what's interesting is looking at some of
- 33:38Speaker 2: what younger gen Z and Jen Alpha is doing is
- 33:45Speaker 2: so much of what we did, almost literally, like they're
- 33:49Speaker 2: wearing the clothing we did. Like the other day, my
- 33:51Speaker 2: wife and I are out and there's kids wearing you know,
- 33:53Speaker 2: Jinko style geens.
- 33:54Speaker 3: She's like, are they really wearing them?
- 33:56Speaker 2: Like, oh, yeah, they're not doing it ironically, they're doing
- 33:58Speaker 2: it because that is act in style now.
- 34:01Speaker 4: Uh.
- 34:01Speaker 2: But they're still doing it with their own twist, like
- 34:04Speaker 2: with the mushroom perms on the guys, which make no
- 34:06Speaker 2: sense to me, like the closest. I don't think we
- 34:11Speaker 2: had sort of an it hair style back in the day.
- 34:14Speaker 2: I mean, you had like the nine to two one
- 34:15Speaker 2: oho sideburns that I had. I mean you had I
- 34:19Speaker 2: had a butt cut at one point. That's the closest thing.
- 34:21Speaker 2: I guess I could, but not everyone had that. I
- 34:23Speaker 2: feel like there was a little more individualistic style with
- 34:27Speaker 2: gen X, whereas you know, a lot of gen Z.
- 34:29Speaker 2: Like you said, Gena's very much just we're trying to
- 34:31Speaker 2: look like everybody else, so that way we don't stay
- 34:33Speaker 2: with there.
- 34:36Speaker 9: And just do everything that everyone else is doing or
- 34:38Speaker 9: fall into trends that on their own, not having been
- 34:47Speaker 9: influenced by others, probably wouldn't.
- 34:48Speaker 8: Have chosen to participated.
- 34:51Speaker 3: So I'm fascinated.
- 34:54Speaker 2: Yes, So I'm always fascinating, and I know Trey is,
- 34:57Speaker 2: We're fascinated about the generational warfare that is ongoing now,
- 35:03Speaker 2: and I'm certain that a large reason for that is
- 35:07Speaker 2: social media. Absolutely, And so gen X for the most part,
- 35:12Speaker 2: I feel is we're reactionary, which is we'll hang out.
- 35:18Speaker 2: We're just we're chilling, right, don't come at us, little bro. Yeah,
- 35:26Speaker 2: that's exactly what. Do not poke the gen X bear
- 35:29Speaker 2: because it's kind of like a weakening the sleeping giant
- 35:32Speaker 2: kind of thing. And that's where I feel like some
- 35:33Speaker 2: people have done, and that's where you have jumped in.
- 35:35Speaker 2: You're like, okay, it's time for you know, gen X
- 35:39Speaker 2: GENA to put you in your tiny baby spot mm hmm.
- 35:42Speaker 9: And and you know, some people give me a lot
- 35:45Speaker 9: of crap about it, about being mean or whatever. There
- 35:49Speaker 9: you you have to understand that you understand this. There's
- 35:53Speaker 9: it's performance art, right and a lot of it is
- 35:57Speaker 9: a lot of it is satirical.
- 35:58Speaker 8: And I don't mean everything I say. If you I mean,
- 36:04Speaker 8: that's just ridiculous.
- 36:05Speaker 9: To think that I honestly believe everything that I say
- 36:08Speaker 9: in all my videos. Regarding other generations, that's an unrealistic expectation.
- 36:14Speaker 9: I have two millennials and a gen Z and I
- 36:17Speaker 9: feel like people think I'm bad mouthing my children and
- 36:21Speaker 9: I'm not.
- 36:22Speaker 8: It's a whole generations.
- 36:24Speaker 3: You're bad mouth everyone else's kids.
- 36:27Speaker 9: Yes it's not mine, but if they don't kids that yeah,
- 36:32Speaker 9: kids that behave a certain way. Your young adults that
- 36:34Speaker 9: behave a certain way. You know, you get tossed in
- 36:38Speaker 9: to the to that barrel, just like we get tossed
- 36:41Speaker 9: into the boomer barrel a lot.
- 36:43Speaker 2: Yeah, that ain't cool. I don't appreciate that. I will
- 36:45Speaker 2: reject that wholeheartedly with every ounce of my being. Do
- 36:48Speaker 2: not put gen X anywhere near the boomer Barrel and
- 36:52Speaker 2: I have.
- 36:53Speaker 8: A pretty large boomer fan base, so I have to
- 36:56Speaker 8: be careful.
- 37:00Speaker 1: You said something interesting about how we really didn't talk
- 37:02Speaker 1: to our parents, because I am it's I go through
- 37:05Speaker 1: this now not trying to bring it down dealing with
- 37:09Speaker 1: my mother in hospice, and I sit with her, but
- 37:13Speaker 1: we have nothing to talk about, like I struggle it
- 37:18Speaker 1: and I have had these moments of introspection going, am
- 37:22Speaker 1: I the problem?
- 37:24Speaker 4: Am I odd?
- 37:24Speaker 1: That I really I realized how and I don't have
- 37:29Speaker 1: a really good relationship with my mother to begin with,
- 37:31Speaker 1: but how superficial it was, and that we really had
- 37:34Speaker 1: never had any a lot of in depth conversations or
- 37:36Speaker 1: anything else. There were times I tried and and it's
- 37:40Speaker 1: never got anywhere. And so now it's this very awkward silence.
- 37:45Speaker 9: We were parented, but we weren't. We didn't have necessarily
- 37:49Speaker 9: have relationships with our kids.
- 37:50Speaker 8: I mean, with our parents.
- 37:51Speaker 4: Does that make sense? No, it's It's absolutely.
- 37:54Speaker 3: True and one of the things.
- 37:56Speaker 2: And I think this will probably be our last little
- 37:59Speaker 2: bit on this to kind of it all up, and
- 38:00Speaker 2: I feel like it does so very very well.
- 38:02Speaker 3: And Jena, I'm curious to see if you agree.
- 38:05Speaker 2: Trey and I have both said four years that part
- 38:08Speaker 2: of what makes gen X so great is the technological
- 38:13Speaker 2: advances that we have lived through and learned. I mean,
- 38:17Speaker 2: we're the analog to digital generation. We learned things the
- 38:22Speaker 2: hard way, which makes us appreciate all the conveniences that
- 38:27Speaker 2: we now have. And there is one very specific special
- 38:30Speaker 2: way that sets us apart from every generation, including the
- 38:34Speaker 2: ones that went to World War Two.
- 38:36Speaker 3: Trey take it away.
- 38:38Speaker 4: We had to teach our parents the Internet and the VCR,
- 38:44Speaker 4: the VCR, all.
- 38:45Speaker 8: Of it, the microwave.
- 38:49Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, yeah, we were.
- 38:53Speaker 2: We were the instructors of the technology for our parents
- 38:57Speaker 2: and or grandparents, depending on the age. Because I'm I'm
- 39:00Speaker 2: I was born in the seventy nine, so I'm right
- 39:02Speaker 2: at the ass end of gen X. But I'm in
- 39:04Speaker 2: it because I'm the one that had to show my
- 39:06Speaker 2: grandmother and my mom how to record one channel while
- 39:11Speaker 2: you're watching another and the Internet. Like Trey is saying,
- 39:14Speaker 2: I mean all this stuff mean, it's like we had
- 39:16Speaker 2: to learn it and then we had to teach it,
- 39:17Speaker 2: which is something that no other generations had to go through.
- 39:21Speaker 1: You know, show me a boomer with an AOL address,
- 39:25Speaker 1: I'll show you a gen xer that gave up.
- 39:28Speaker 3: That's right.
- 39:29Speaker 2: You're gonna get this one AOL address and that's all
- 39:31Speaker 2: you get for the rest of the time.
- 39:34Speaker 1: Because anyone who knows this, this is God's honest truth.
- 39:40Speaker 1: Once you got your parents on an AOL address, you
- 39:43Speaker 1: can never get them off. They are stuck to it,
- 39:48Speaker 1: even though AOL has turned went from a mighty giant
- 39:51Speaker 1: to some it's like in some closet in the UK,
- 39:56Speaker 1: they can never leave that.
- 39:58Speaker 8: And what is it MSM address? M s M. Wasn't that? Yeah?
- 40:04Speaker 9: Yeah, my ex husband still has his email dress from
- 40:06Speaker 9: from that email I just cracked and Yahoo and you
- 40:10Speaker 9: know all those.
- 40:11Speaker 8: But like you said, once they're in it, you're not
- 40:13Speaker 8: getting them out of it. Now.
- 40:14Speaker 9: See, I'm on the other I'm on the other end
- 40:17Speaker 9: of the spectrum there, Dan, I'm an older gen xer.
- 40:20Speaker 8: In two more two more years, I would have been
- 40:22Speaker 8: a boomer.
- 40:24Speaker 9: But so when when these gen z's come at us
- 40:29Speaker 9: for not knowing anything about technology, I'm just on that stitch.
- 40:34Speaker 3: But yeah, as you should.
- 40:36Speaker 8: We lived.
- 40:37Speaker 9: We lived through everything, even stuff like you know eight
- 40:40Speaker 9: tracks two to vinyl two, cassettes to CDs.
- 40:46Speaker 2: Two, I mean and if and if you're like me
- 40:49Speaker 2: and Trey, you had a portion of your childhood where
- 40:51Speaker 2: you lived in the country and you knew an experience
- 40:54Speaker 2: not only a party line, but a four digit phone number.
- 40:59Speaker 8: Oh see I did. I didn't experience that.
- 41:02Speaker 3: Yeah. Well that's that's like the that's the rural side
- 41:05Speaker 3: of gen X.
- 41:06Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 41:06Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's like Trey and I are hybrids because
- 41:09Speaker 2: we had a little bit of rural and a little
- 41:11Speaker 2: bit of city living, so we have that additional layer there.
- 41:14Speaker 2: But yeah, I mean when you start out, when you
- 41:16Speaker 2: pick up the phone and you hear your neighbor two
- 41:18Speaker 2: miles away on with you know, God knows who you're like. Okay,
- 41:21Speaker 2: I'll wait five more minutes.
- 41:23Speaker 8: A lot of my followers, a lot of followers mentioned
- 41:25Speaker 8: party lines in my videos, and.
- 41:29Speaker 2: Yeah, boomers, city boomers will definitely know and then earl
- 41:34Speaker 2: rural gen X will know that a little bit, right, Uh, Gina,
- 41:39Speaker 2: do us a solid tell tell us where we can
- 41:41Speaker 2: find you on all your preferred platforms.

- 42:21Speaker 8: Rooms and I haven't told them yet, but I'm not
- 42:24Speaker 8: staying in the hotel. I'm going home.
- 42:26Speaker 3: I've got dogs.
- 42:30Speaker 4: I'll stay and have fun.
- 42:31Speaker 8: But at the end of the night, I'm gonna, you know,

- 42:43Speaker 9: and you guys come out. It's gonna be It's gonna
- 42:45Speaker 9: be a lot of fun. I'm a little nervous about
- 42:47Speaker 9: it because I am, like I say, I'm an introvert,
- 42:49Speaker 9: so being in front of that many people, but I
- 42:52Speaker 9: you know it, I ease in pretty pretty quickly. But
- 42:57Speaker 9: it's gonna be fun. I'm excited about it, super excited
- 42:59Speaker 9: about it. So if you are on Facebook. Go join
