- 0:02Speaker 1: This is an Unspoiled Network podcast. This is spoil Me,
- 0:09Speaker 1: covering one Piece episodes seven six through seven twenty eight,
- 0:15Speaker 1: Fourth Gear, the Phenomenal Bounce Man, a Massive counter Attack,
- 0:20Speaker 1: Do Flamingo's Awakening, and Loofy an all out Leo Bazouka.
- 0:29Speaker 1: In these episodes, Moofye debuts his new look, part car tire,
- 0:40Speaker 1: part trash bag, part urban decay, ipalette. I don't know
- 0:48Speaker 1: what to think. Welcome to spoil Me, Welcome to the
- 1:11Speaker 1: show everyone. I am Natasha. Thank you very much to
- 1:15Speaker 1: Michael for commissioning this episode. Yeah, you guys, this was
- 1:24Speaker 1: This was a surprise. So I didn't see until after
- 1:29Speaker 1: I had signed off at the last episode that Saraphim
- 1:33Speaker 1: had left one last comment, no thoughts on his last
- 1:38Speaker 1: like final words or his last words or something like that.
- 1:42Speaker 1: And honestly, when I was watching the episode, I did
- 1:46Speaker 1: stop and go, oh, we're getting a new gear. But
- 1:49Speaker 1: when Saraphim asked if I had any thoughts, I was like,
- 1:55Speaker 1: on his last words? What were his last words? Like
- 2:00Speaker 1: in the moment, I didn't even remember what Saraphi was
- 2:03Speaker 1: talking about. And then I uh, I went and looked
- 2:11Speaker 1: into the like I had the episode playing because I
- 2:14Speaker 1: was recording, and I rewatched the ending and I was like, oh, right.
- 2:22Speaker 1: And the truth is that sometimes I think that, like
- 2:26Speaker 1: I'll have a moment of going, oh, this is new,
- 2:29Speaker 1: and then I start to doubt myself on whether or
- 2:32Speaker 1: not the thing is actually new or do I just
- 2:34Speaker 1: not remember it. So I think when he debuts Fourth Gear,
- 2:39Speaker 1: my immediate reaction was like, Oh, a new gear. This
- 2:42Speaker 1: is fun, and then I started to be like, is
- 2:44Speaker 1: it a new gear? Maybe we've seen it before? Wait
- 2:48Speaker 1: have I forgotten? Like I just really started. There's just
- 2:52Speaker 1: a lot to keep track of with this show, and
- 2:54Speaker 1: I really don't always feel like I firmly got a
- 2:57Speaker 1: grasp because there are a lot of things that you
- 3:01Speaker 1: guys will remind me of that I have utterly forgotten about,
- 3:04Speaker 1: Like Sarahim will remind me, and I'll sometimes I'll be like, oh, okay, yes,
- 3:10Speaker 1: I remember that, And then there are the other times
- 3:13Speaker 1: where I'm just like what when who said that? And
- 3:17Speaker 1: I have no earthly idea. It's as if I never
- 3:20Speaker 1: even saw the same show that they're describing. So I
- 3:25Speaker 1: think that's part of why I just didn't really like
- 3:30Speaker 1: register this once it was time to talk about it,
- 3:33Speaker 1: because I was not confident that I even had it right.
- 3:37Speaker 1: And this, uh the way that fourth gear is shown
- 3:47Speaker 1: to work, you guys, the reaction that Dol Flamingo has.
- 3:53Speaker 1: I don't love that I'm having the same reaction that
- 3:56Speaker 1: Do Flamingo is having, but I'm not going to lie
- 3:59Speaker 1: to you. That's exactly what's going on. So he says
- 4:03Speaker 1: fourth gear and he bites his arm. If I'm not mistaken,
- 4:11Speaker 1: it's like it looks like he's just sort of gnawing
- 4:13Speaker 1: on it. And for the record, guys, he ends saying
- 4:16Speaker 1: fourth gear. But we're twelve minutes into the following episode
- 4:19Speaker 1: before we actually see what that is. And what I
- 4:26Speaker 1: always enjoy about these fights is the fact that like,
- 4:29Speaker 1: he says fourth gear and is clearly just prepping to
- 4:34Speaker 1: do this thing, and Do Flamingo just patiently sits there
- 4:38Speaker 1: and watches him and lets him do it. It's not like
- 4:42Speaker 1: he thinks, maybe I should cut this kid off before
- 4:46Speaker 1: he manages to level up to his next most tough
- 4:50Speaker 1: version of himself. Do Flamingo, I think, is arrogant enough
- 4:54Speaker 1: to just be like, it's fine, I just am interested.
- 4:57Speaker 1: I'd just like to see what happens, but I have
- 4:59Speaker 1: no concern that he actually going to be able to
- 5:01Speaker 1: beat me, so I'll just let it happen to make
- 5:05Speaker 1: him feel like he really has a fighting chance here.
- 5:09Speaker 1: And when Loufy bites his arm, he just kind of
- 5:14Speaker 1: I'm gonna yeah. It's like he's like inflating his own skin,
- 5:25Speaker 1: biting a hole in it, and then like blowing air
- 5:30Speaker 1: into it. It's it's really I don't even Honestly, it's
- 5:38Speaker 1: sort of funny. If you're thinking about a guy who
- 5:41Speaker 1: is rubber and you're thinking about the levels of powers
- 5:46Speaker 1: that he might have, I think that I would have
- 5:53Speaker 1: thought this would be lowered down on the list, just
- 5:58Speaker 1: because the simple act of blowing up your own skin,
- 6:04Speaker 1: your own rubber skin, actually feels like one of the
- 6:08Speaker 1: first things that would occur to you. Do you know
- 6:12Speaker 1: what I'm saying? Like the one where is it third
- 6:18Speaker 1: gear where he's powered with like steam, Basically I feel
- 6:24Speaker 1: like that is a less intuitive and I would expect
- 6:28Speaker 1: that to fall a little bit later in the lineup.
- 6:32Speaker 1: But as he's blowing his skin up, he's also infusing
- 6:38Speaker 1: it with hockey, and so what we find out a
- 6:42Speaker 1: little bit later is going on is that he has
- 6:46Speaker 1: combined the elasticity of rubber with the strength of hockey.
- 6:58Speaker 1: And it's only like I believe that his whole body
- 7:03Speaker 1: is covered in hockey, I think, But for the animation,
- 7:09Speaker 1: they just have his legs and arms be like black
- 7:14Speaker 1: and red, and the rest of him looks like a
- 7:20Speaker 1: larger version of himself, like inflated, but doesn't change color.
- 7:25Speaker 1: And he also gets these sort of almost tribal looking
- 7:29Speaker 1: tattoos that climb around his shoulders. And like I had
- 7:34Speaker 1: said in the intro, a very new goth eye look
- 7:40Speaker 1: that I feel is giving drag Queen a little bit.
- 7:45Speaker 1: I'm gonna say that this is maybe I said urban decay,
- 7:47Speaker 1: but I feel like it's more of a NIX like
- 7:50Speaker 1: amateur like. This is the kind of thing that you
- 7:52Speaker 1: do when you're first experimenting with makeup and you just
- 7:55Speaker 1: go really hard and maybe get your eyeliner wings uneven
- 7:59Speaker 1: and keep trying to overcorrect each side to get them
- 8:02Speaker 1: so that they're symmetrical, until eventually your eyeliner is like
- 8:06Speaker 1: an inch thick and you're just like, well, I guess
- 8:08Speaker 1: that's what I'm doing today, because you're running late now
- 8:11Speaker 1: and you can't take it off. So all of this
- 8:16Speaker 1: is already like a real oh that's what we're doing, okay,
- 8:24Speaker 1: But then we get him speaking, and my friends, this
- 8:30Speaker 1: is Bana Pence. I am so sorry, but him actually
- 8:36Speaker 1: talking in this weird voice is so fucking funny to me.
- 8:42Speaker 1: He literally says bounce mon in this like it's got
- 8:53Speaker 1: an effect put on it. But also the voice actor
- 8:57Speaker 1: is clearly like doing something. And this is when Do
- 9:00Speaker 1: Flamingo just puts his head in his hand and just
- 9:03Speaker 1: starts laughing. And I mean, was anybody not laughing? Don't
- 9:11Speaker 1: get me wrong, there was no point when I thought, well,
- 9:16Speaker 1: this is useless. I never doubted for a moment that
- 9:20Speaker 1: Lufi's power was gonna fucking do something. Okay, Just for
- 9:24Speaker 1: the record, I knew this was going to wind up
- 9:26Speaker 1: being something badass. But I cannot fault the man for
- 9:31Speaker 1: this reaction in the moment. It's a bizarre, unintimidating thing.
- 9:39Speaker 1: The most intimidating part, I would say is the sound
- 9:43Speaker 1: effect that they use for when he bounces, which is
- 9:46Speaker 1: a weird combo of the sound of like rubber actually bouncing.
- 9:52Speaker 1: That's like in there, but ahead of that, I feel
- 9:55Speaker 1: like is almost the sound of a metal mechanical press
- 10:00Speaker 1: clamping together or something like machinery, you know what I mean,
- 10:06Speaker 1: excuse me? So yeah, overall, the whole impression of this
- 10:12Speaker 1: is what even is this doing? And his assumption is like,
- 10:19Speaker 1: you just got bigger? Is that what you're trying to
- 10:23Speaker 1: do is just sort of intimidate me with your size?
- 10:27Speaker 1: And then he accuses Loufy of not taking this whole
- 10:31Speaker 1: fight very seriously, and Lufy is like, of course, I'm serious.
- 10:37Speaker 1: Do you want to see and do FLUMINGO points out
- 10:44Speaker 1: you can't even stand anymore on your feet, which was
- 10:49Speaker 1: an interesting assertion because I wasn't really taking it that way.
- 10:53Speaker 1: I felt like Lufy was bouncing because the material of
- 10:57Speaker 1: his feet made that better. And also bouncing is like probably,
- 11:03Speaker 1: I would think in a fight a really good tactic
- 11:06Speaker 1: for throwing off the person that you're fighting against. Like,
- 11:11Speaker 1: the whole thing with boxing is to be light and
- 11:13Speaker 1: quick and stay on the balls of your feet and
- 11:17Speaker 1: basically never pause if you can help it, and not
- 11:21Speaker 1: present a still target. The whole thing is that it's
- 11:25Speaker 1: more difficult to hit you if you're moving, So I
- 11:27Speaker 1: would think that bouncing would actually be really helpful in
- 11:31Speaker 1: that respect, and I thought it was interesting that he
- 11:33Speaker 1: thought it's just that you can't stand, rather than this
- 11:38Speaker 1: is part of the mechanic of how this is a
- 11:41Speaker 1: better body to fight in you know what I mean?
- 11:44Speaker 1: I don't know. So then lufy Uh talks to him
- 11:51Speaker 1: about how for two years I was fighting animals and
- 11:56Speaker 1: if I fought bigger ones than me, I needed to
- 11:59Speaker 1: be physically bigger and bouncier, and dofal Mingo says, okay,
- 12:05Speaker 1: then what does the elasticity even do? And Lufi just says,
- 12:11Speaker 1: shut up. Once I start, you won't even be able
- 12:17Speaker 1: to fight back, and he starts to like pull his
- 12:22Speaker 1: fists in the way that in my uh imagination, it's
- 12:28Speaker 1: almost like cocking a pistol, you know, or like pulling
- 12:31Speaker 1: back the elastic on a slingshot. And then he flies
- 12:37Speaker 1: at Do Flamingo and says, now, my gum gum kong
- 12:44Speaker 1: punch no kong gun and punches him, and Do Flamingo
- 12:52Speaker 1: goes flying so hard that he passes through like a
- 12:55Speaker 1: couple of buildings, clips some spires of stone, hits the ground,
- 13:03Speaker 1: and then collides with a tower so hard and sharply
- 13:07Speaker 1: that he knocks the whole tower down. I am going
- 13:12Speaker 1: to say this a lot in this trio of episodes.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Everybody in this town should be dead. I've said it before,
- 13:23Speaker 1: I'll say it again, and I'm sorry if it's going
- 13:26Speaker 1: to get old, but there is so much destruction and
- 13:30Speaker 1: it is so large scale. It really is making me
- 13:39Speaker 1: understand the way that Will White wrote some of Cradle
- 13:43Speaker 1: and a lot of The Elder Oh my god, I
- 13:48Speaker 1: can't remember the rest of the name of that series,
- 13:51Speaker 1: but there's a series where that he wrote, I think
- 13:54Speaker 1: before Cradle, after Traveler's Gate, that there are people with
- 14:01Speaker 1: these wild powers that accidentally kill bystanders all the time,
- 14:06Speaker 1: and it's really fucked up because their powers are just
- 14:08Speaker 1: so large that you can contain them to a point,
- 14:11Speaker 1: but there's a degree to which it doesn't matter, and
- 14:15Speaker 1: people if they get hit and aren't prepared or don't
- 14:17Speaker 1: have a certain level of power, they're just going down.
- 14:20Speaker 1: And I after watching more and more of this show,
- 14:24Speaker 1: I'm just seeing like, oh, I understand the inspiration for that,
- 14:27Speaker 1: because it's not acknowledged in one piece that this is
- 14:32Speaker 1: what would happen. But that's an author who is taking
- 14:35Speaker 1: the next step with what's clearly would be true in
- 14:38Speaker 1: these situations and just deciding to actually acknowledge it in
- 14:43Speaker 1: their story. So all of these people like wind up
- 14:49Speaker 1: gathering around what seems to have just been a landed meteor,
- 14:54Speaker 1: and they don't even realize that it's still Flamingo. Apparently
- 14:58Speaker 1: he was traveling at such that they couldn't tell what
- 15:01Speaker 1: he was. And Violet is talking to Oosop and tells
- 15:09Speaker 1: him like, he's transformed. I've never seen anything like this before,
- 15:15Speaker 1: and Do Flamingo just got knocked the fuck down. Once
- 15:21Speaker 1: the townsfolks start to realize that it's Do Flamingo, they
- 15:25Speaker 1: back up pretty fucking quick. Do Flamingo himself is not cowed.
- 15:35Speaker 1: He's just well, that is more than I expected. And
- 15:41Speaker 1: when he stands and like realizes that there is a
- 15:47Speaker 1: bunch of townspeople around him, they ask, what the hell
- 15:51Speaker 1: are you doing here? And he says, I'd like to
- 15:55Speaker 1: know that myself, which is an interesting response, and I
- 16:01Speaker 1: like that. As soon as he says that and shows
- 16:04Speaker 1: how displeased he is, everybody around him is just like, yeah,
- 16:09Speaker 1: all right, we're fucking out, bye bye, And I understand
- 16:14Speaker 1: he looks like he is about to take out his
- 16:16Speaker 1: irritation on anybody who is near him, so I do
- 16:21Speaker 1: not blame them for this. Once he realizes just how
- 16:27Speaker 1: far he got knocked down, he can't help but be
- 16:30Speaker 1: a little bit impressed. And you can still hear Loofy
- 16:35Speaker 1: bouncing all the way from the bottom of this plateau,
- 16:39Speaker 1: and then Lufy begins to come down toward him. And
- 16:42Speaker 1: I had said in the previous episode that like Lufy
- 16:44Speaker 1: might as well just be able to fly. What are
- 16:46Speaker 1: we doing? And that is what we get here, is
- 16:50Speaker 1: that he is using this like as do Flamingo puts it,
- 16:56Speaker 1: he is using elasticity force to fly. I don't know
- 17:02Speaker 1: that this is anything. You know, if somebody out there
- 17:06Speaker 1: who's a physicist can give me a really good, like
- 17:12Speaker 1: not even a good answer, but like a confident answer
- 17:16Speaker 1: that yes, with the physics working a certain way, this
- 17:19Speaker 1: actually could be possible. It's unlikely with the capabilities that
- 17:24Speaker 1: we have, but it is possible. I would be very interested.
- 17:29Speaker 1: I just like for the sake of this show. Obviously,
- 17:32Speaker 1: whether or not this could actually work is not relevant.
- 17:36Speaker 1: It's not like I'm gonna go I don't like this
- 17:37Speaker 1: because it's unrealistic. It's just that it being said in
- 17:42Speaker 1: this way like it's a given that this would work,
- 17:46Speaker 1: had me kind of going, wait a minute, is there
- 17:49Speaker 1: some real basic premise here that I don't remember that
- 17:53Speaker 1: I should know about how this force would even work. Like, so,
- 17:59Speaker 1: anybody out there, if you know things and you want
- 18:02Speaker 1: to tell me about them, please do come to the
- 18:04Speaker 1: discord leave a comment. You know, I just am extremely curious.
- 18:12Speaker 1: It's sort of funny how often it has felt to
- 18:15Speaker 1: me like Lufy can basically fly anyway, and now we're
- 18:20Speaker 1: finally giving him like a means to do that, and
- 18:24Speaker 1: then the means sort of feels like, I don't know
- 18:28Speaker 1: if you even had to tell me this. I feel
- 18:29Speaker 1: like I could have just accepted that he could fly
- 18:32Speaker 1: by now you may not have had to explain it.
- 18:38Speaker 1: So he tries to zap loofy as he calls it,
- 18:43Speaker 1: when he shoots toward him with overheat. Now, guys, I'm
- 18:47Speaker 1: not really sure what this is from do Flamingo. It's
- 18:51Speaker 1: like he's trying to hit him with like a fireball
- 18:54Speaker 1: or something. As far as I knew, this wasn't a
- 18:57Speaker 1: power of his. How is it? But this is something
- 19:00Speaker 1: he can even do that's not like I maybe we
- 19:06Speaker 1: saw this before, and I just don't remember because there's
- 19:09Speaker 1: been a lot of manifestations of Dol Flamingo's power. To
- 19:12Speaker 1: be fair, there's been a lot of different things that
- 19:14Speaker 1: we have seen him do. It's there are certain power
- 19:19Speaker 1: sets where you see the same weapon over and over
- 19:22Speaker 1: and it's used the same way and do Flamingo is
- 19:26Speaker 1: just not one of those his power It feels like
- 19:28Speaker 1: every time you bust it out, we get like two
- 19:33Speaker 1: familiar attacks and four new ones. So this may be new,
- 19:38Speaker 1: but I was just sort of like, wait, overheat, how
- 19:41Speaker 1: is that within his power set? So then Lufy hits
- 19:46Speaker 1: him with uh gum gum rhino Schneider according to the
- 19:54Speaker 1: sub subtitle here. Now, I just want to say guys
- 19:58Speaker 1: that you know, there was a time where I was
- 20:00Speaker 1: getting very preoccupied with what the subtitle said versus the
- 20:04Speaker 1: dub because they do not match up, and so I
- 20:08Speaker 1: turned the subtitles off because I just wanted to stop
- 20:11Speaker 1: focusing on that. And thus there are a lot of
- 20:17Speaker 1: times in this fight that he yells what his attack
- 20:23Speaker 1: technique is and I don't know what the fuck he's
- 20:25Speaker 1: saying because the words do not make any sense to me.
- 20:29Speaker 1: So when he says Rhino Schneider. I was so lost.
- 20:35Speaker 1: I didn't know I heard rhino and then I thought slider.
- 20:40Speaker 1: But I was like, he's not sliding though, but he
- 20:44Speaker 1: does kick do Flamingo so hard that he basically goes
- 20:49Speaker 1: sliding across the city. So I kind of was like, Okay,
- 20:54Speaker 1: it must be Slider then, and now looking at this
- 20:58Speaker 1: and seeing that its Schneider, I don't even know what
- 21:01Speaker 1: that what that is? Uh? Florian says he used it
- 21:06Speaker 1: before against soanjy Oh. Regarding Dol Flamingo's overheat hot strings.
- 21:11Speaker 1: I guess, but like I don't even I honestly don't
- 21:15Speaker 1: remember that, Florian. But that's it's like ringing a bell.
- 21:17Speaker 1: I just don't recall him saying overheat or whatever. But like,
- 21:22Speaker 1: how does he make them hot? Because that's like a
- 21:24Speaker 1: different that's a whole different aspect of his ability. I'm
- 21:30Speaker 1: not like, obviously Loufy has different aspects to his ability.
- 21:33Speaker 1: So it may be that he is able to access
- 21:37Speaker 1: some other function in there, but it's just I don't know.
- 21:42Speaker 1: It's it just feels surprising. Rhino Schneider was some kind
- 21:48Speaker 1: of weapon model or manufacturer, says Florian, Lufy's attacks are
- 21:52Speaker 1: weapons themed, like pistol oh. I see, so it would
- 22:01Speaker 1: be like the equivalent of saying like rhino shotgun or
- 22:04Speaker 1: rhino sniper or something like that. Makes sense. Okay, I
- 22:10Speaker 1: see what you're saying. Yeah, as somebody that is like
- 22:14Speaker 1: really not familiar with guns at all, it doesn't surprise
- 22:17Speaker 1: me that I would not have known what that is then,
- 22:21Speaker 1: So yeah, Lufy sends him flying, and then Lufy himself
- 22:26Speaker 1: lands and winds up surrounded by all of these townspeople
- 22:30Speaker 1: who are staring at him as he bounces around, And
- 22:34Speaker 1: it's such a weird moment because nobody knows what to
- 22:38Speaker 1: make of him, and he looks different enough from his
- 22:41Speaker 1: regular self that later on there is an argument over
- 22:44Speaker 1: whether he is Lufy at all. Meanwhile, Bartolomeo is watching
- 22:51Speaker 1: and the way he is fanboying over the fact that
- 22:54Speaker 1: this is a new technique that he gets to see
- 22:58Speaker 1: is for him, Like he goes up to Kiro's and
- 23:03Speaker 1: calls him, Stumpy, do you get what this means? We
- 23:07Speaker 1: got to be witnessed to a never before seen, super
- 23:10Speaker 1: secret move and you're just standing there like a statue.
- 23:14Speaker 1: I can't stop shaking. This is the best day of
- 23:17Speaker 1: my life, and Kiros just puts his hand on his
- 23:20Speaker 1: face and shoves him down to the ground. I really
- 23:25Speaker 1: cannot get enough of Barcelomeo. I really can't. I adore
- 23:28Speaker 1: him so much, so then do Flamingo up again. Little
- 23:36Speaker 1: bastard is hardening his skin with armament hockey and using
- 23:39Speaker 1: tensile force to multiply his strength several times over, and
- 23:45Speaker 1: I was like, oh, I see tense. That's interesting. I
- 23:51Speaker 1: kind of like this idea. So he goes looking for Loofy.
- 23:57Speaker 1: Lufy himself is bouncing around trying to figure out where
- 24:00Speaker 1: Dolfla Mingo is, and they meet once again at the
- 24:06Speaker 1: top of this like. I don't think they go back
- 24:09Speaker 1: to the exact same spot on the plateau, although maybe
- 24:11Speaker 1: they do, but it doesn't really matter. He comes at
- 24:18Speaker 1: dofl Mingo, who says, you know what, I am sick
- 24:21Speaker 1: of this crap. And as he begins to fight against Lufy,
- 24:26Speaker 1: he makes tons and tons of strings, and every time
- 24:30Speaker 1: Lufy attempts to punch him, there are barriers in the
- 24:35Speaker 1: way made of string. He just keeps shielding himself with them,
- 24:39Speaker 1: and Lufy says, I told you I'm using fourth gear
- 24:44Speaker 1: and you can't keep up, and he tries to say,
- 24:50Speaker 1: this is it, This is the end now. Unsurprisingly, Do
- 24:55Speaker 1: Flamingo has something else in his little bag of tricks
- 24:58Speaker 1: that he pulls out in the next episode. But first
- 25:02Speaker 1: we see him get his arms and legs covered in
- 25:05Speaker 1: hockey as well. They collide fists and his hand comes
- 25:10Speaker 1: away like trembling and like a little fucked up, looking
- 25:14Speaker 1: like his punch was not actually able to withstand the
- 25:17Speaker 1: force of Lufy's punch. Lufy is like headbutting him and
- 25:22Speaker 1: sending him up into the bird cage itself, which I
- 25:27Speaker 1: understand as a tactic, but I also was wondering if
- 25:30Speaker 1: that would even hurt the guy who made it, you know.
- 25:35Speaker 1: And just as he is about to deliver a punch,
- 25:38Speaker 1: Do Flamingo does an athlete kick and we see Lufy's
- 25:44Speaker 1: side like cave in like it's nothing. If this were
- 25:49Speaker 1: a real body, the cave in would be a problem.
- 25:54Speaker 1: This would be oh, you're crushing his internal organs. But
- 25:58Speaker 1: because Lufi is rubber, when it caves in like that,
- 26:01Speaker 1: it's just like when Lufy tried to punch Trouble and
- 26:04Speaker 1: his fist just went through. It's nothing. So dope Flamingo
- 26:09Speaker 1: here is starting to get really really agitated because Lufy
- 26:14Speaker 1: is beginning to kick his actual ass. And then we
- 26:21Speaker 1: get the start of the next episode where it turns
- 26:25Speaker 1: out he is able to summon more strings even than
- 26:30Speaker 1: he normally is able to do, and turn whole buildings
- 26:36Speaker 1: around him into strings to utilize. Everybody in this town
- 26:46Speaker 1: should be dead. I'm just gonna keep saying it. Excuse me,
- 26:54Speaker 1: you guys are coffin today. I think I have allergies. Yeah,
- 27:00Speaker 1: this is, this is I think this is too much.
- 27:07Speaker 1: I think we've officially reached a point with Do Flamingo's
- 27:09Speaker 1: power that I'm sort of like, Okay, that's that feels excessive.
- 27:13Speaker 1: It's one thing if he could like turn things that
- 27:19Speaker 1: were near to him, but he's like reaching out and
- 27:23Speaker 1: turning buildings into string, and like quickly, It's not like
- 27:29Speaker 1: he does this and it takes a minute and then
- 27:31Speaker 1: finally it begins to like unravel and the string comes
- 27:35Speaker 1: to him for him to use. It's like he reaches
- 27:38Speaker 1: out the building is string like instantly, and then he
- 27:43Speaker 1: can just pull it all toward him in a moment,
- 27:45Speaker 1: as if it were a spear or something, and we'll
- 27:50Speaker 1: get there in a second, but first with the other
- 27:53Speaker 1: things that start with the With the second of these
- 27:56Speaker 1: three episodes, we've got the townsfolk who are watching this fight.
- 28:00Speaker 1: We go over quickly to Cavendish, who is still with Law,
- 28:04Speaker 1: and Cavendish is like, good God, he's pulling off something
- 28:09Speaker 1: that I can't even believe. And I'm sitting here and
- 28:11Speaker 1: watching it. If he can like beat do Flamingo. He's
- 28:16Speaker 1: actually a lot stronger than I expected. And Law says
- 28:22Speaker 1: he's over using his hockey. And when he said that,
- 28:26Speaker 1: I was like, ah, shit, because if he is saying this,
- 28:31Speaker 1: it's just set up that eventually Lufy's going to run
- 28:34Speaker 1: out of power. And I was just devastated, to be honest,
- 28:38Speaker 1: because as soon as he said it, I thought, Uh,
- 28:44Speaker 1: now I'm going to have to watch Lufy run out
- 28:46Speaker 1: of gas and I was not excited about it. But
- 28:51Speaker 1: it doesn't happen this episode, so at least I got
- 28:54Speaker 1: a little bit more time out of it. So okay. Oh,
- 29:00Speaker 1: there's also this whole thing with Jesus Burgess. I don't
- 29:08Speaker 1: know what to make of this, dude, because I have
- 29:12Speaker 1: not been keeping track of what's happening with everybody else.
- 29:16Speaker 1: I know that he is one of the Blackbeard pirates,
- 29:20Speaker 1: and I know that he wants to kill Loofy to
- 29:23Speaker 1: try and absorb his gum gum fruit power. Right, But
- 29:29Speaker 1: in like this whole time with this fight, did Jesus
- 29:36Speaker 1: Burgess hide and avoid getting like in the rest of
- 29:45Speaker 1: the fight against the executives and everything, Like, I can't
- 29:49Speaker 1: recall what it is that he has been up to
- 29:53Speaker 1: for the main part of the conflict here, because he
- 29:57Speaker 1: is sort of stepping into this as if he was
- 30:01Speaker 1: in the bathroom and just missed it all and now
- 30:04Speaker 1: he's come out and he's just like, yeah, let me
- 30:06Speaker 1: track down Loofy, like all of this other stuff hadn't happened,
- 30:10Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Like it's just sort of
- 30:12Speaker 1: a weird uh there's a feel to it of like
- 30:20Speaker 1: him literally stepping into the story from outside of the story,
- 30:24Speaker 1: like the author just went, oh, yeah, Jesus Burgess, I
- 30:27Speaker 1: have him here somewhere, Oh, he's in this drawer, and
- 30:30Speaker 1: then just sticks him into the midst of it. Because
- 30:33Speaker 1: it is a weird disconnect between him and everything else
- 30:38Speaker 1: around him. He's not looking about as if like he's
- 30:42Speaker 1: stunned and horrified by the extent of the horror around him.
- 30:49Speaker 1: There's nothing, no comment about the destruction or like wow,
- 30:53Speaker 1: look at this place, Like he doesn't reference how bad
- 30:56Speaker 1: things have got at all. So I definitely was just like,
- 31:01Speaker 1: what are yeah, what is this? And in the background,
- 31:06Speaker 1: Koala is like watching him and trying to get in
- 31:09Speaker 1: touch with Sapo to be like, dude, this guy is
- 31:12Speaker 1: sort of biting his time over here, and Sapo isn't
- 31:15Speaker 1: responding to her, and I'm not remembering what his scenario
- 31:19Speaker 1: is right now if there is a reason that he
- 31:21Speaker 1: isn't answering that we should know about. But yeah, Jesus
- 31:25Speaker 1: Burd just like inserts himself into the midst of this,
- 31:29Speaker 1: and it's just so it is a real drag. I'm
- 31:39Speaker 1: curious how you guys felt about this when he turned up,
- 31:43Speaker 1: But like, personally, I was really like, we don't need
- 31:48Speaker 1: this right now, and not in a oh you've upped
- 31:52Speaker 1: the stakes kind of like it was. It was just
- 31:57Speaker 1: a I'm I'm plenty interested now that Lufy has gone
- 32:02Speaker 1: into fourth gear, we don't need anything more. Don't do
- 32:07Speaker 1: this now. It's too much. We've got too many things
- 32:11Speaker 1: in this stew we were doing pretty well with everything
- 32:16Speaker 1: being like, you know, a nice red wine based beef stew,
- 32:24Speaker 1: and now you're just like pouring in white wine. And
- 32:30Speaker 1: I'm going, but we had this whole other thing happening.
- 32:34Speaker 1: What are you doing? You're just you're ruining it. And
- 32:40Speaker 1: maybe I'll take it back, maybe I'll take it back.
- 32:44Speaker 1: But I think it's a combo of like the motive
- 32:47Speaker 1: behind that, the reason that he's jumping in, which is
- 32:50Speaker 1: that he wants to kill Lufy and take his fruit.
- 32:53Speaker 1: I'm not worried about Loofy. I know Lufy is going
- 32:56Speaker 1: to wind up alive. Whether he wins against Do Flamingo,
- 33:00Speaker 1: that's a slightly different question. I could see Dol Flamingo
- 33:03Speaker 1: like getting away to live another day and ultimately dress
- 33:07Speaker 1: Rosa is saved. But Don Flamingo isn't defeated. You know
- 33:11Speaker 1: what I'm saying, Jesus Burge is coming in here. It
- 33:18Speaker 1: feels like you aren't gonna it. Fucking Do Flamingo hasn't
- 33:22Speaker 1: killed him. I am even less worried about you, and
- 33:25Speaker 1: I know the point it's supposed to be. Oh, he's
- 33:27Speaker 1: showing up just as Louviy runs out of power. I
- 33:33Speaker 1: do not believe that it's going to matter because either
- 33:36Speaker 1: Lufy manages to defend himself. Being rubber is makes it
- 33:40Speaker 1: so that he is difficult to attack, or he has
- 33:43Speaker 1: so many allies that everybody else winds up stepping in
- 33:46Speaker 1: because he is defenseless at the moment. But either way,
- 33:50Speaker 1: this just feels like it's gonna be something I kind
- 33:53Speaker 1: of have to sit through, even though I know ultimately
- 33:55Speaker 1: it's going to come to nothing. So I'm not particularly
- 33:59Speaker 1: excited about this whole thing. We have a little like
- 34:04Speaker 1: interlude where the guys are trying to and by the guys,
- 34:10Speaker 1: I mean Condre and Zoro and I can't remember the
- 34:17Speaker 1: name of the other guy. They're trying to find their
- 34:21Speaker 1: way to the city, like the middle of the city,
- 34:26Speaker 1: and they are riding on this poor little sparrow that
- 34:31Speaker 1: keenum on that's his name, that Condrea drew. You guys,
- 34:38Speaker 1: I hated this so much. I really hated this poor
- 34:41Speaker 1: bird being like forced to carry everybody. I don't like
- 34:45Speaker 1: this at all. I know the bird isn't even like real,
- 34:47Speaker 1: but it's distressing. I was not a fan of it.
- 34:50Speaker 1: So they're coming in to try and find some way
- 34:54Speaker 1: to stop the strings from continuing to destroy the whole city,
- 35:01Speaker 1: and we go from them to Frankie, who is yelling
- 35:04Speaker 1: to the tantatas like, you guys, we have got to
- 35:07Speaker 1: fucking get out of here. Let's move, and they all
- 35:11Speaker 1: begin to flee the factory and head for Frankie. And
- 35:16Speaker 1: then Frankie notices that the strings are going up against
- 35:21Speaker 1: the walls of the Smile Factory, but are not actually
- 35:25Speaker 1: knocking it or not actually cutting through it. The strings
- 35:29Speaker 1: are pressing against it and causing the whole tower to
- 35:33Speaker 1: begin to bend over, but not succeeding in actually breaking
- 35:40Speaker 1: through the walls themselves. And as he is discovering this,
- 35:48Speaker 1: Zoro and Conjurea and Quinemon land in front of him,
- 35:53Speaker 1: and he's like, guys, if you're trying to run, you're
- 35:57Speaker 1: going in the wrong direction. And Zoro like, we're not
- 36:01Speaker 1: trying to run, we're trying to stop the strings, and
- 36:05Speaker 1: Frankie says, huh, I never even thought of that, And
- 36:09Speaker 1: then they just fly away. And then then Frankie says,
- 36:19Speaker 1: stopping the strings does sound good, but how you guys,
- 36:24Speaker 1: I was so angry. I was so mad right here.
- 36:27Speaker 1: You just saw that these strings don't cut through the
- 36:30Speaker 1: wall and you say to your little friends, oh, it
- 36:35Speaker 1: must be because it's made out of sea prism stone,
- 36:38Speaker 1: so you even know why it's not cutting through. And
- 36:42Speaker 1: yet he doesn't think to mention that when they're saying
- 36:50Speaker 1: how to that we want us try and stop them.
- 36:53Speaker 1: He even asks how can we stop them to himself, Frankie,
- 36:59Speaker 1: you know I love you, baby, but you this is
- 37:01Speaker 1: such a hymbo moment. Oh my God, get it together, sir.
- 37:05Speaker 1: Connect the fucking dots. Jesus Christ, this was agonizing. You're
- 37:09Speaker 1: supposed to be this brilliant engineer. What are you doing?
- 37:14Speaker 1: For God's sake? So we go back to the fight
- 37:19Speaker 1: between Lufy and uh Do Flamingo, and this is when
- 37:26Speaker 1: Do Flamingo begins to like do his new like level
- 37:32Speaker 1: of power. He calls it awakening, and he says that
- 37:39Speaker 1: it's really rare, but with it, I'm trying to wait
- 37:45Speaker 1: for it. My strings can affect more than just my
- 37:48Speaker 1: own body. That's it. And he's standing in the midst
- 37:55Speaker 1: of like a bud. It's almost like he has been
- 37:57Speaker 1: shrunk down and placed in gray wig, you know, is
- 38:02Speaker 1: what it looks like because he is just in the
- 38:04Speaker 1: midst of all these strings, and he's yelling to Loofy like, no,
- 38:08Speaker 1: no matter which way you go, there's gonna be more
- 38:11Speaker 1: of them. At this rate, you won't even be able
- 38:12Speaker 1: to get near me. And it shows him taking a
- 38:15Speaker 1: step forward on the surface of the building and when
- 38:20Speaker 1: he takes a step, briefly the ground beneath him turns
- 38:23Speaker 1: into strings, and then it goes back. It turns back
- 38:25Speaker 1: into rock, it seems. But yeah, he says to Lufy that,
- 38:32Speaker 1: you know, my, let's see where is this moment? Because
- 38:35Speaker 1: Lufy says something about how then he can't be a
- 38:40Speaker 1: paramesia type, and Do Flamingo says, I can see that
- 38:48Speaker 1: your power is gonna run out any second, but mine
- 38:51Speaker 1: is going to keep on going because he still got
- 38:53Speaker 1: his body sort of held together with these strings on
- 38:57Speaker 1: the inside. I once again would like to know how
- 39:00Speaker 1: sustainable that is, but that's not the issue at hand
- 39:04Speaker 1: right now. What we really need to do is to
- 39:11Speaker 1: lock up Do Flamingo and see prism somehow get his
- 39:16Speaker 1: whole power cut off, and then will you know, deal
- 39:22Speaker 1: with him and as a normal person, Florian says, So
- 39:26Speaker 1: Dophie calls this awakening, and we have seen another warlord
- 39:29Speaker 1: turning into turning things into sand when touched by him. Normally,
- 39:34Speaker 1: devil fruits don't do that. Oh okay, so him being
- 39:41Speaker 1: able to do this is like kind of crocodile and
- 39:44Speaker 1: what he can do, But this is not usual, you know.
- 39:48Speaker 1: I never even clocked that crocodile turning things into sand
- 39:51Speaker 1: didn't really make sense. I guess I assumed that it
- 39:55Speaker 1: was him just drying things out, because like his power
- 39:59Speaker 1: is that he can can troll water, right, so he
- 40:03Speaker 1: can pull all of the moisture out of somebody and
- 40:06Speaker 1: turn them into a husk. And I think that he
- 40:08Speaker 1: I was assuming when he turned things to sand, that
- 40:11Speaker 1: he was just completely pulling any moisture out of them
- 40:14Speaker 1: so that they disintegrated into like the molecules that they
- 40:18Speaker 1: are when there's nothing holding them together. But that, you know,
- 40:24Speaker 1: that doesn't really necessarily make sense, because then people might
- 40:27Speaker 1: just turn to stone or something like turn sand specifically.
- 40:30Speaker 1: That's a slightly different idea. So okay, that's interesting. I
- 40:34Speaker 1: wonder what Lufy's like if he awakens turns other things
- 40:37Speaker 1: to rubber. Could he turn a ship to rubber? Would
- 40:40Speaker 1: it still float? Probably? I feel like they've made rafts
- 40:43Speaker 1: out of rubber anyway, So do Flamingo is really feeling
- 40:49Speaker 1: himself here as he does this, and he starts to
- 40:54Speaker 1: turn more and more things into string, and as he
- 40:58Speaker 1: is doing this, we cut to the townsfolk. Now I
- 41:03Speaker 1: don't have a lot of time left here, but I
- 41:06Speaker 1: just want to talk about the townsfolk in this episode
- 41:12Speaker 1: and the next episode. So I'm sort of torn because
- 41:20Speaker 1: the thing is that the townsfolk are very, very unlikable people.
- 41:25Speaker 1: But I also think part of the reason that I
- 41:30Speaker 1: find them so unlikable is that they are depicted as
- 41:40Speaker 1: like real human beings are, which is to say, easily frightened, fickle,
- 41:48Speaker 1: and selfish. I don't want to say all human beings
- 41:53Speaker 1: are like that, you know, but what we're seeing isn't
- 41:57Speaker 1: necessarily all human beings. It's just that we're seeing examples
- 42:02Speaker 1: of the worst of them at different times on this island.
- 42:06Speaker 1: Even knowing that, though, it kind of was difficult for
- 42:11Speaker 1: me to root for them. So we have a few
- 42:14Speaker 1: different scenarios here. First, we have this little girl who's
- 42:17Speaker 1: with her grandmother and they're trying to flee these strings
- 42:20Speaker 1: that are bearing down on them, and the grandmother falls
- 42:24Speaker 1: down and can't run anymore and tells her granddaughter, I
- 42:29Speaker 1: AM not going to be able to make it. You
- 42:30Speaker 1: have to keep going, get out of here quickly. It's
- 42:32Speaker 1: going to come for you. And the little girl like
- 42:35Speaker 1: crying and looking upward and trying to decide what to do.
- 42:39Speaker 1: And then we cut from her to this hospital that
- 42:46Speaker 1: has been completely abandoned by some of the people that
- 42:52Speaker 1: work there, and there remains a doctor and some nurses
- 42:56Speaker 1: who are asking everybody who is running past them for
- 43:00Speaker 1: help evacuating the place and saying like, there's nobody here
- 43:04Speaker 1: is going to be able to get out if you
- 43:06Speaker 1: don't help us, and everybody just straight up passes them,
- 43:10Speaker 1: doesn't make eye contact, doesn't answer them, and they are
- 43:14Speaker 1: left standing there with all of these like completely helpless
- 43:20Speaker 1: patients on their hands and they don't have anything to do.
- 43:24Speaker 1: And there's just this real sadness of him like hanging
- 43:28Speaker 1: his head and then looking between the two nurses. And
- 43:31Speaker 1: it's such a weird moment, you guys, because like the
- 43:34Speaker 1: hanging the head made it look like, h all, like
- 43:37Speaker 1: we're screwed. And then the way he looks at both
- 43:40Speaker 1: of the nurses, all I could think was that there
- 43:43Speaker 1: was something very like lecherous about it, and I'm sure
- 43:45Speaker 1: that's not what's meant to be happening. I think it's
- 43:47Speaker 1: supposed to be. I'm gonna look at the only two
- 43:50Speaker 1: people who remained with me, and we're gonna try and
- 43:52Speaker 1: get these people out, just the three of us. But
- 43:55Speaker 1: all I could think was him going, well, I got
- 43:57Speaker 1: two hot nurses with me. I guess I'll just make
- 44:00Speaker 1: the most of this last moment, you know. And then
- 44:03Speaker 1: we have a mother who has lost her child and
- 44:07Speaker 1: is trying to find her son and yelling for somebody
- 44:11Speaker 1: to please help her, describing what he is wearing. Has
- 44:15Speaker 1: anybody seen him? And nobody is paying any attention to her,
- 44:19Speaker 1: and they're just continuing to run by her. And lastly
- 44:22Speaker 1: we come across a guy who is on crutches and
- 44:26Speaker 1: he says, essentially, what's the point. We're all going to
- 44:31Speaker 1: be killed, either by the strings coming at us or
- 44:35Speaker 1: by do Flamingo in the end anyway, so there's no
- 44:39Speaker 1: point in trying to fight it. And he just puts
- 44:42Speaker 1: his crutches down and sits on the ground and waits
- 44:46Speaker 1: for the strings to come toward him. Now, this is
- 44:52Speaker 1: something that the show does a lot, which is they
- 44:58Speaker 1: pull away from our main people and the big overarching
- 45:04Speaker 1: fight and they show us the everyman and his struggle,
- 45:09Speaker 1: especially the most vulnerable people, which, of course is what
- 45:14Speaker 1: do Flamingo specifically referenced when he began to draw the
- 45:18Speaker 1: strings inward. Was he warned Loofy about how old people
- 45:21Speaker 1: and children and whatnot are going to be the ones
- 45:23Speaker 1: that really suffer because they won't be able to get
- 45:25Speaker 1: out of the way in time. And I have to
- 45:29Speaker 1: be honest, I just don't like it when the show
- 45:33Speaker 1: does this most of the time. Occasionally there will be
- 45:37Speaker 1: a tie in with other things that we have seen
- 45:40Speaker 1: already that makes it feel like it's less of a manipulation,
- 45:46Speaker 1: but mostly it just feels like a huge manipulation. And
- 45:52Speaker 1: what I think would work is if we had anybody
- 45:54Speaker 1: in these situations that we had met earlier in the show,
- 45:58Speaker 1: you know, just have some by that our friends come
- 46:01Speaker 1: across interact with that is likable in just a few
- 46:05Speaker 1: moments that we are immediately like, oh, I like this
- 46:08Speaker 1: lady or I like this guy, and then we don't
- 46:13Speaker 1: see them again until a moment like this and we
- 46:18Speaker 1: get reminded, oh my god, this poor like you know,
- 46:23Speaker 1: bystander that we didn't really get to know. Even though
- 46:28Speaker 1: I didn't, I still kind of give a shit about
- 46:31Speaker 1: what happens to them. But because it's so obviously reaching
- 46:36Speaker 1: for our heartstrings and having there be like an old
- 46:39Speaker 1: lady and a baby, and then a mother whose last
- 46:44Speaker 1: or child, it just feels so it almost reminds me.
- 46:50Speaker 1: There's a bit from the the old Batman movie from
- 46:56Speaker 1: like the sixties where he has found a bomb and
- 47:02Speaker 1: he's trying to find somewhere to dispose of it before
- 47:05Speaker 1: it goes off, and everywhere he turns there is like
- 47:11Speaker 1: another different type of vulnerable group that he has to
- 47:15Speaker 1: run away from. So all he's trying to do is
- 47:17Speaker 1: get to the edge of this dock and throw the
- 47:20Speaker 1: bomb over so that it'll go into the water and
- 47:22Speaker 1: explode there and not harm anybody. But you know, he
- 47:27Speaker 1: turns one way and it's like a you know, an
- 47:30Speaker 1: old person and a cane or they're in a wheelchair.
- 47:34Speaker 1: He turns another way and it's like two mothers walking
- 47:36Speaker 1: with their prams with their children. He turns yet another
- 47:40Speaker 1: way and it's like a group of nuns leaving a church,
- 47:43Speaker 1: and it's just like all very over the top innocent
- 47:47Speaker 1: bystander energy, and he just keeps having to like run
- 47:50Speaker 1: away from each of these groups and try and find
- 47:53Speaker 1: somewhere to throw it off. That's what this feels like
- 47:57Speaker 1: to me, is that we are going to like f
- 48:00Speaker 1: mind the most extreme version of each situation and show
- 48:09Speaker 1: it to you in such a way that it's like
- 48:13Speaker 1: it feels like a joke. You know, it fails to
- 48:17Speaker 1: tug my heart strings because I'm just over here going Jesus, Okay,
- 48:21Speaker 1: I get it. It's very sad, but because they're going
- 48:25Speaker 1: so hard, instead of actually feeling sad, I just feel
- 48:30Speaker 1: irritated at the attempt. So yeah, there's ways of doing
- 48:36Speaker 1: this sort of thing that do work, and that I
- 48:40Speaker 1: think in the past have worked. But considering how big
- 48:46Speaker 1: this arc is and how long it's gone on, it
- 48:48Speaker 1: is sort of surprising to me that we don't have
- 48:52Speaker 1: anybody who's just a regular person on the ground dealing
- 48:55Speaker 1: with stuff. Everybody that we have gotten to know is
- 48:59Speaker 1: like a player in the game somewhere, whether they were
- 49:04Speaker 1: enslaved and now they got out of it and they're
- 49:06Speaker 1: fighting back, whether they're one of the tantanta who was
- 49:09Speaker 1: being lied to, or royalty or whatever. Everybody that we
- 49:13Speaker 1: know they're in it, and we haven't met anybody who
- 49:18Speaker 1: just is a regular guy, which is surprising because I
- 49:23Speaker 1: feel like that could probably be worked in somewhere. But anyway,
- 49:29Speaker 1: all this to say that this just this whole thing
- 49:32Speaker 1: didn't work for me really at all, and I kept
- 49:36Speaker 1: wanting to have a moment with the townsfolk where I
- 49:40Speaker 1: felt like I was proud of the way they were
- 49:47Speaker 1: behaving or more concerned. But we get the next episode
- 49:52Speaker 1: where Lufy finally does it. Seems he uses the the
- 49:58Speaker 1: Leo Bazouka and I it took me a little while
- 50:00Speaker 1: to understand that the animal names are because of the
- 50:02Speaker 1: animals that he was fighting in the woods. But he
- 50:07Speaker 1: uses this. He manages to knock dol Flamingo out enough
- 50:12Speaker 1: that dolfl Mingo is like in a huge crater in
- 50:16Speaker 1: the side of this cliff face, and the entire town
- 50:20Speaker 1: thinks that he is now dead. Now I personally was like,
- 50:26Speaker 1: I don't understand why anybody assumes this man is dead.
- 50:30Speaker 1: We have seen how many times this guy has been
- 50:33Speaker 1: knocked down. There's no reason to think this. Everybody starts
- 50:37Speaker 1: really prematurely celebrating and Loofy meanwhile, isn't stopping his whole
- 50:45Speaker 1: bouncy shtick, which one of the guys is like, what
- 50:48Speaker 1: is going on with this? And as he's standing there
- 50:52Speaker 1: bouncing the right before he had delivered this punch, King
- 51:01Speaker 1: Riku made a big speech to inspire everybody, because you know,
- 51:06Speaker 1: folks on the ground, they're panicking, they're acting badly, they're
- 51:10Speaker 1: giving up. And he sees this and so he gets
- 51:15Speaker 1: on the like loud speaker, so to speak, and yells
- 51:20Speaker 1: for everybody to continue to have faith. Lufy is on
- 51:24Speaker 1: the case. He is going to save us. There is
- 51:27Speaker 1: still hope. Don't give up. And he says something specifically
- 51:32Speaker 1: like even if you have broken legs, which I was like,
- 51:35Speaker 1: is he just saying that as an example or just
- 51:37Speaker 1: you actually see this guy over here who has literally
- 51:39Speaker 1: sat down. I was not sure, but he the whole
- 51:49Speaker 1: speech itself. I was like, Okay, I get we need
- 51:57Speaker 1: him to have a moment of being a leader. I'm
- 52:00Speaker 1: looking forward to seeing them be better. Cool. I was annoyed,
- 52:06Speaker 1: but let's do this now, people stepping up and being better. Nope, nope,
- 52:12Speaker 1: Like maybe they have some will to fight back, that
- 52:17Speaker 1: doesn't really change the fact that like, later on there's
- 52:22Speaker 1: somebody who's looking at Loofy and then just like, he
- 52:24Speaker 1: doesn't look like what he did look like, though, are
- 52:26Speaker 1: we sure that's him? And they all start to like
- 52:29Speaker 1: question him in the midst of this in a way
- 52:33Speaker 1: that I'm just like, this dude just delivered what y'all
- 52:37Speaker 1: are thinking is like the death blow to do Flamingo
- 52:40Speaker 1: in front of you, and you're still just like, I
- 52:44Speaker 1: don't know about this guy. And eventually, when Lufy collapses,
- 52:50Speaker 1: does anybody offer him so much as a glass of water? No,
- 52:53Speaker 1: we have somebody saying that we should help him, and
- 52:56Speaker 1: then we have another guy stepping up and being like,
- 52:59Speaker 1: don't forget he's a pirate. He could be just as
- 53:02Speaker 1: bad as Do Flamingo. Bruh. I am really going to
- 53:06Speaker 1: need anybody to listen to this speech that King Ricu
- 53:10Speaker 1: gave because they bring this up to him and he's
- 53:13Speaker 1: just like, yeah, but who knows. I just don't trust him,
- 53:17Speaker 1: and I just wanted to be like, who fucking asked
- 53:19Speaker 1: you get out of here? I was so disappointed, you guys,
- 53:23Speaker 1: I really was. I thought it was going to be
- 53:27Speaker 1: King Riku inspiring folks, and then lufy like he winds
- 53:33Speaker 1: up on the ground because he's run out of steam,
- 53:35Speaker 1: and finally the townspeople step up and do something to
- 53:39Speaker 1: help him, and then they all just stand to the
- 53:43Speaker 1: side and talk cash shit about how maybe he is
- 53:48Speaker 1: garbage while this man is like dying due to over
- 53:53Speaker 1: using his power to try and save all your asses. Disgusted,
- 53:58Speaker 1: and maybe next episode all of a sudden and they're
- 54:00Speaker 1: going to decide like, oh, maybe we should help him,
- 54:02Speaker 1: maybe we should give him a chance. Too late. I
- 54:05Speaker 1: don't like you. You fucked up, you ruined it. I
- 54:09Speaker 1: am not going to root for these guys at all. Again,
- 54:13Speaker 1: it's not happening. It's too late. I don't care if
- 54:16Speaker 1: they come around. It shouldn't have taken you any time.
- 54:20Speaker 1: You should have been there already. So that's how I
- 54:23Speaker 1: feel about this. It's just like these people. There comes
- 54:27Speaker 1: a point where I'm just like, maybe you all deserve
- 54:29Speaker 1: to die now. Maybe I just don't care if he
- 54:31Speaker 1: saves you. Fuck all, y'all, what are you good for?
- 54:36Speaker 1: This dude is actually one handedly attempting to defeat the
- 54:41Speaker 1: bad guy, and you're doing fuck all, and you have
- 54:45Speaker 1: the nerve to stand there and be like oh, I
- 54:47Speaker 1: don't know about him jump off a cliff literally go away,
- 54:56Speaker 1: and in the end don't and go turns out to
- 55:02Speaker 1: still be alive. This is what causes Lufi to run
- 55:05Speaker 1: out of steam because he sees do Flamingo moving and
- 55:11Speaker 1: he's just like, ugh, he's still alive. And I was
- 55:14Speaker 1: laughing here because you guys, like, I feel like it
- 55:18Speaker 1: was last episode or the episode before that. I was like,
- 55:20Speaker 1: if they don't take care of this fight pretty surely,
- 55:22Speaker 1: I'm going to start to lose my patience. And I
- 55:24Speaker 1: stand by that. But I recently, I think I've mentioned
- 55:28Speaker 1: this on other shows, but I was watching the series
- 55:31Speaker 1: on Amazon Prime called Reacher. Just you know, for your knowledge,
- 55:39Speaker 1: it is not a good show. It has immaculately choreographed
- 55:43Speaker 1: action scenes. If you are into that, which I am.
- 55:46Speaker 1: I love seeing men beat each other up. This is
- 55:49Speaker 1: for you. But it is a badly written cliche of
- 55:54Speaker 1: a television show. And there was the end of the
- 56:00Speaker 1: last season, the third season that I watch, there is
- 56:04Speaker 1: a dude who is even larger than Reacher himself, and
- 56:08Speaker 1: the joke in that final finale episode becomes each of
- 56:14Speaker 1: them doing something that they think has taken the other
- 56:16Speaker 1: out finally, and then realizing that nope, he's still alive
- 56:21Speaker 1: as they're like walking away and just saying, oh Jesus
- 56:24Speaker 1: Christ as they turn around to resume the fight that
- 56:27Speaker 1: they had thought was over. And it is genuinely really
- 56:31Speaker 1: funny because the two of them, they're both so enormous
- 56:35Speaker 1: that watching them fight looks fake. It's like, so that
- 56:41Speaker 1: was what I was thinking about here. I feel like
- 56:43Speaker 1: I would have been much more annoyed with how do
- 56:45Speaker 1: Flamingo is still alive if I hadn't just watched that
- 56:48Speaker 1: Reacher finale and had it remind me of that, and
- 56:52Speaker 1: so Lufi. Once he is still like alive, he goes,
- 56:57Speaker 1: all right, well, I'm gonna fucking go and take care
- 57:01Speaker 1: of it. You're still alive, but one more hit should
- 57:06Speaker 1: do it, and he's almost there, and then it's just
- 57:13Speaker 1: like and he just falls, and it's so sad and
- 57:21Speaker 1: so frustrating because I just wanted this fucking thing to
- 57:24Speaker 1: be done. I'm done. We're all done, okay, show of hands,
- 57:32Speaker 1: who at this point was ready for it to end. Now,
- 57:39Speaker 1: for the record, I am nowhere near as done with
- 57:44Speaker 1: this as I was with Fishman Island, So I don't
- 57:48Speaker 1: want anybody to think that I'm turning on the dress
- 57:50Speaker 1: Rosa arc in general. Overall, I have enjoyed most of
- 57:55Speaker 1: this arc. It's been much more that I have liked
- 57:58Speaker 1: than I have not. But this, this, this is this
- 58:03Speaker 1: is enough already? Okay? Can we all just like you know?
- 58:09Speaker 1: And the episode ends with Lufy like just barely able
- 58:16Speaker 1: to pull himself up off the ground, saying damn it, Mingo,
- 58:22Speaker 1: And as he does, dofl Mingo is like peeling himself
- 58:26Speaker 1: out of the crater that he got shoved into, with
- 58:31Speaker 1: his little smile on his face because now he's going
- 58:34Speaker 1: to start some shit and because I'm not actually worried
- 58:42Speaker 1: about Lufy now, it just feels like I got to
- 58:46Speaker 1: sit through more of this, you know, but it's gonna happen.
- 58:52Speaker 1: You know. This is from what I understand, a lot
- 58:55Speaker 1: of this is filler, and it shows it feels like filler.
- 59:01Speaker 1: Oh I'm seeing uh sorry, Florian is in the chat
- 59:10Speaker 1: regarding the townsfolk. Oh yeah, I like your way better,
- 59:14Speaker 1: but honestly still like it. In Marge Simpson voice, I
- 59:18Speaker 1: just think it's neat. And then oh my god. The
- 59:22Speaker 1: animal part of the name comes from the animals he
- 59:24Speaker 1: fought I was today years old. I may be wrong.
- 59:28Speaker 1: This is what I assume, but I might be wrong.
- 59:32Speaker 1: I will say, guys, honestly though, the fact that Lufy
- 59:37Speaker 1: pure trained his skills by fighting wild animals does that
- 59:42Speaker 1: not hit for anybody else? I really hate it. Like,
- 59:45Speaker 1: first of all, I don't like fighting animals in general,
- 59:48Speaker 1: because I always side with animals all the time, so
- 59:52Speaker 1: that's just going to be a default thing for me.
- 59:54Speaker 1: But also, animals don't have the kind of applied intelligence
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: that a human being would have in a fight. So
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: it feels for me like you purely worked on strength,
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: but not tactics, not using the understanding of your enemy
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: necessarily as like something to bounce off of. It feels
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: like incomplete training, in my opinion. But maybe there was
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: another aspect of it that I just don't know about yet.
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: I don't know. I just I don't like beating up animals,
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: my friends. I just don't like it. So you know,
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: what are you gonna do? Florian says, I think he
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: most trained with Slash against Riley, if that's so fine,
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: But like when he's talking about training against animals with
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: do Flamingo, we get like a montage of him beating
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: the shit out of tigers and stuff, which it's just
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: very difficult for me to be pleased with. It feels
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: like the sort of montage that you would get to
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: make sure you really hate a villain and you get
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: to see how shitty he is to animals, you know
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: what I mean. I was like, Eh, you're acting like
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: this should be impressive, and I'm having a hard time
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: seeing it that way. But anyway, so that is the
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: end of these three episodes, and I really hope, you
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: know what, it would be great you guys, here's my
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: wish list. Do you guys remember how in one of
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: the Indiana Jones movies he's facing off with this guy
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: who has a sword that he's like really dramatically swinging
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: in these patterns and making a big show of how
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: clever with the blade he is. And then Indy just
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: pulls out a gun and shoots the guy in the chest. Now,
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: this was like an ad lit. This was not something
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: in the script, but he just did it the actor
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: because he was so tired that he didn't want to
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: do the fight scene, so he just pretend shot him
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: and they decided they loved it and kept it in
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: the movie. What I would love is something similar where
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: you think it's gonna be a whole thing, where Jesus
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: Burgess shows up and he's like, I've got you now,
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: and then unexpectedly do Flamingo just instantly kills him and
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: is like, this is our fight, what are you doing here?
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: You are nobody? Get out and just cracks him in
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: two pieces because he's just interfering in something that he
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: was not asked to be here for. That's what I
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: would like, is if Jesus Burgess is being built up
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: to be a whole thing and then he just gets
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: fucking wiped out, and not even by Loofy, and it's
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: like embarrassing on the sidelines that he has no relevance
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: actually at all. That's what I would like, So I'm
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: gonna write a fan fiction. All right, Thank you guys
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: again so much. I can't remember if I opened and
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: said thank you to Florian for commissioning this episode. Actually
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: I'm so sorry if I did, because I'm remembering now
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: that it was Michael that commissioned this episode. So if
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: I said Florian in the beginning, apologies, and I'm going
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: to try and remember to go back and edit that
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: and say Michael, because I hope I gave him the
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: correct credit, but thank you Michael if I didn't. And yeah,
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: I'll see you guys next week. Until then, to lou Motherfucker's.
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: That was an Unspoiled Network podcast.
