- 0:03[SPEAKER_00]: Hello, hello, and welcome to another edition of a nine-on-oys podcast part of the fan-sided podcast network.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_00]: My name is Robert Morrison, and I contribute to it at nine-on-oys.com, and here with me, fellow contributor, and fellow slacker in game recapping, it's access, divadula, access, has to go, man.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_01]: No, it's great, Robert.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_01]: I will say,
- 0:26[SPEAKER_01]: We are a bit late on talking about this a little bit, but last week's scene, however, at the great fortune of watching that game with other people who I found out after the fact or in the fact, we're at Niners fans.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_01]: That's really fun because
- 0:43[SPEAKER_01]: When Alfred Collins forced the fumble on Kyron Williams.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, I don't know what's going on See a guy running screaming.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's a fumble and I was like, oh It's a fumble.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, it was a fumble
- 0:57[SPEAKER_01]: It was a fun game, it's a good week, then a slightly less Sunday because some of you may know, I used to talk about this a lot a couple of years ago, I do have a little, I do like to bed a little bit on the side on the NFL and I was close to a big payday, but I forgot how to play football, so that's what they do.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_01]: But a nine years wouldn't mix up for
- 1:20[SPEAKER_01]: all of it and I can't wait to see to see how the season's going there.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_00]: There's sure nothing horrible has happened in the interim but yeah so we're gonna this is going to be strange because we're so far out from the game that happened almost
- 1:36[SPEAKER_00]: a week ago.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_00]: But we also can't think too.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_00]: So we have a lot of information about the things that have happened since the game that will impact the one on Sunday that we'll talk about later in the week.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: But we're not going to talk about that now because it's not pertinent to this particular conversation and we don't want to unveil this conversation.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_00]: So you're probably going to be thinking, wow, don't they know about filling the blank?
- 1:57[SPEAKER_00]: And we do.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_00]: We're paying attention.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: We know what's going on.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_00]: So just because we don't mention certain things that are currently in the news, but we're going to do what we're pretending as if this episode is happening, you know, like four days ago, wouldn't mean probably we should have talked about it.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: But that's fine.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_00]: Um, yeah, I mean, it was a fun game to watch.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_00]: I watched it all by myself.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_00]: in the quiet of my living room.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_00]: Everybody else went to bed because it started at a clock at the 15 or whatever.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_00]: That actually was a good, a good sports night for me, but we don't have to get into those details.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, they won the game, despite our
- 2:37[SPEAKER_00]: Well, mild to put it mildly, lack of confidence and their ability, they overcame injury after injury and continued injuries that the piled on even on top of each other in the game and they beat the Rams and over time 26 to 23 Thursday night football.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it was it was a wild game.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_00]: Just put it to put it lightly for an under just like looked like they were going to run away with it for a little while.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know that I actually believed that they were actually going to run away with it, but it kind of felt like they were briefly, I mean they were, they were up what 17 to 17 to seven and a half time, it got a lot closer after that, but yeah, I don't know what what what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what,
- 3:25[SPEAKER_00]: As you were sitting there like watching the first quarter happen and all of a sudden they're 14 nothing and they're like wait wait what's going on here like what were what were you thinking were you like this is too good to be true or were you actually thinking oh maybe they can do this.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_01]: I was thinking wow I totally should have believed Robert when he said that the Niners just have the ramps number of.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_01]: like if I just I couldn't believe it because you know I feel like I made a rather like vocal is showing last episode about the only way I can see the Niners winning is if they run the ball really well and like there's a Netflix they literally played the same way they played like every stage actually they're worse they're worse rushing performance of the season
- 4:22[SPEAKER_01]: And yet they, and yet they won, I think we'll get into sort of the things about the game that like we're like instrumental, but I didn't, I was hopeful that like we're thirsty and I think, but when the comeback was starting to come on for the ramps, I was like, oh, boy, like.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there we go, like.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_01]: They couldn't hold up forever, but they did just barely enough.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_01]: That's beautiful.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, sometimes that's what you need.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_00]: In a situation like they're in, where they're very injured, and but they also have the benefit of the last place schedule.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_00]: So, but this was a situation where this was not, this game was not one of the benefits of the last place schedule, right?
- 5:08[SPEAKER_00]: Like you could talk about the saints and, and, and, uh,
- 5:12[SPEAKER_00]: really that's it actually for the most part because the jags they would have played anyway because they're playing that whole division.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: So the Saints really the only team that they've had so far that is the quote unquote benefit of a last-by-schedule's New Orleans.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_00]: Everybody else they would have played regardless of what position they finished last time.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's probably not true either because they're playing the Buccaneers.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_01]: So
- 5:35[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, up to now.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_00]: I mean up to now.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_01]: Up to now.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, up to this point.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just talking about like this.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_00]: This first five games of the season, like you can barely even be like, well, they have a last play schedule.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_00]: So that's why they're in first place.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_00]: It's like they beat all three teams in the NFC West.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_00]: Now, the next thing I'm going to say is true, but also could be an anti-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the-the
- 6:22[SPEAKER_00]: Strength of victory right now because they just haven't beaten anybody very badly Which is fine, but yeah, I mean, I was right there with you.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, uh Like I didn't want to get too optimistic after the first quarter and like oh, they're up 14 nothing like the first drive look really excellent I was kind of like chalking it up to Sometimes when Shayna hand gets his back against the wall and he has like no players to to play with He gets really good like it's almost like he likes playing with his
- 6:51[SPEAKER_00]: one hand tied behind his back or whatever because he gets real creative and interesting and sometimes that brings out the best in him.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_00]: I think sometimes when he has like top to your guy's all over the field maybe he gets a little bit vanilla with sometimes and like it like obviously brought out more aggression in him and all this kind it's like very interesting.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_00]: We'll talk about Shane hand a little bit more but
- 7:13[SPEAKER_00]: All very interesting things, so two things that I wanted to throw out, choose this again from AP, the Associate Press, Josh Dubo, this is my new go-to thing, I think the beginning of the recap shows is just what random thing of the 49ers done this year.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_00]: So one of these statistical things I actually wrote about for the site,
- 7:35[SPEAKER_00]: at the beginning at the end of last week, but this first one is fun.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_00]: Four Niners of one, all three starts by Mac Jones, despite rushing for fewer than 80 yards in each of them.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_00]: This is the first time the Niners have one, three wins, or have three wins with fewer than 80 rushing yards.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_00]: An entire season since 1995.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_01]: That, I mean, that's insane.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, you caught the entire season part, right?
- 8:00[SPEAKER_00]: Like, the full game.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_01]: That's, that's like.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_01]: This that's crazy.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_01]: I mean the other thing that's also crazy like I don't know if this was part of the thing that the lack of interceptions to Yeah, I'm getting to that in a second.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, next one.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so the next one is this crazy so this thing and this is the one this is the thing I wrote about so They're one and they're one of two teams since at least 1940 that seems to be the cutoff for a lot of these statistics to start the season four and one or better despite zero touchdown runs
- 8:30[SPEAKER_00]: They're one in three teams, since the same time frame to start the season four or one or better, despite zero interceptions, defense, and they're the only team, regardless of record.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_00]: That means good, bad, otherwise, since at least 1940 to have zero touchdown runs in zero interceptions on defense through five games.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, raise it, wow, so,
- 8:57[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just going to say they totally had an interception last like it before whatever time not getting into that.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_01]: But like I mean, they have been the epitome of like a bend dome break defense.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_01]: And like that.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_01]: The fact that it's working as well it is is without like splash plays through the air obviously the fun wolf sports help crazy the fact that they can't run the ball not like just bad like yeah.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like come on guys pick it up, please.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, hopefully it's it's definitely a mild it's definitely like.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_01]: Like they're winning.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_01]: So it's a nice little statistical work.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_01]: They start losing.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be like a really, really frustrating element of this team.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_01]: And so that's, that's interesting because like, you know, like, like we say so often, no such thing as moral victories in football.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_01]: So like,
- 10:01[SPEAKER_01]: in the same sort of vein, there's no such like when you're winning, all the things like, oh, we're not doing this well or over the first team to do this, whatever you're like, oh, who cares?
- 10:13[SPEAKER_01]: Like, they'll figure it out, but they got to figure it out.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that's put a damper on what will be a very fun recap for what was a fun, like, super, like, amazing wing.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_01]: But like,
- 10:27[SPEAKER_01]: This, it's kind of exciting that this team is like so clearly like halfway to where it can be and their forum one and have one other division games and like you said could be five and no.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_00]: or on five.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_00]: Let's get it.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_00]: So of course, it would not be a 49er's game without some injury-related news.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_00]: All the first we should, we should talk about our guy, Eddie Peniero, special teams, NFC, special teams player the week.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_00]: So that's cool for him.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_00]: I had a good game.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_00]: I looked good out there.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, he had the, the, the, the doink.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_00]: off the, off the crossbar that that helped in one of those cases, but four out of four field goals, two out of two extra points, including that 59 yarder, to, that was the, the one that gave them, the lead, late in the game, right?
- 11:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that was right.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_00]: Was that, yep, fourth, yeah.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, I think that's the 23, 20, you like, check.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, um, and then they obviously forced over time later on.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_00]: So that was good for him.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's just nice like we don't have to linger on the kicker situation because you talked about kickers a lot on the show, probably more than we ever anticipated.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_00]: We would, um, but it's just nice to have a guy that you're like, oh, I feel pretty good about what he's going to do.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_00]: The the don't wasn't great, but it was fine.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_00]: Like it was good.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, like we've been saying.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_01]: When you're like, when it's not working, you're like the doorkus really bad and it's indicative of how things like, oh, we've got lucky.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_01]: But when you're kicking well, it's like, ah, you know, it happens.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's beautiful.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_01]: Winning is in just changes your perspective on everything when it comes to football.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_01]: All the negatives become like it's okay or they can work on that later and it's glorious.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_01]: It's an amazing feeling because a band you can always be like, you'll get them next time.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_00]: Right, yeah, absolutely, um, definitely cool to see that for sure.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_00]: Um, there were, of course, some some insulated things.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I am trying to for some reason I cannot find.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_00]: I know that Utah Grosmato's is going to be out for a couple of weeks with a hamstring injury.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and I
- 12:52[SPEAKER_00]: want to say Alfred Collins was on the initial injury report coming out of the game.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_00]: But I think he seems to be, I don't know, we'll see.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_00]: It's early, we're not thinking too far ahead of that.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_00]: But we do have some some injury related news that is positive.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_00]: We got mouth Mustafa back on the practice field.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_00]: They opened up his practice window this week, along with Kevin Gibbons.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_00]: Both.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_00]: Gosh, I think would be like really, really important players to have back on this team especially given the state of the defensive line, which just seems to be kind of like falling apart in before our very eyes.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_00]: Givens not a spectacular player, but a solid enough guy on that interior, unfortunately, is a little bit...
- 13:42[SPEAKER_00]: A lot, I mean, he has very similar skill set to like Khalia Davis and Alfred Collins and CJ West.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm not sure where he, where he fits necessarily, and they still need a lot of help on the, on the edges.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_00]: But having both Mustafa and given's back in the near future.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_00]: And Mustafa seems to sound like, sounds like he's ready to go like he's ready to go Sunday.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if they're going to let him, but he seems like he's ready to go, man, it would be good
- 14:12[SPEAKER_01]: I love Mustafa.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_01]: He's like, he's explosive.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_01]: He hits like a fire truck.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_01]: And like, he, he's going to add a pop to this defense that I definitely think they need, especially in the secondary.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_01]: One of the things that I think I'll probably like to bury the lead a little bit because I'll be mentioning this when we get into sort of talk about the game So I think the nine or secondary has been like good and being in good positions, but bad and making plays and I think now it was stuff are going to really like change that like I'm
- 14:47[SPEAKER_01]: I'm really excited for him to get on the field.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_01]: I highly doubt the letting play this week.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_01]: That's no fun, but take care of him.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_01]: All that's good stuff.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_01]: And then Kevin Gibbons just necessary.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_01]: Like literally, like they are running out of defensive weapon.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_01]: So all hands on deck will be great.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they did also sign Bruce Hector, who I believe was with the team this off season, another defense Feynman to the practice squad, Jalen Nohoni to save to get to the boot to make that move.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_00]: Again, I think at this point as you're as you're alluding to, it's just kind of like a
- 15:25[SPEAKER_00]: unnecessary thing like they just need bodies there.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_00]: So they also have Evan Anderson, William Bradley King, and Sebastian Valdez as defensive linemen on the practice squad.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_00]: So a lot of options there in terms of like guys they could they could bring up.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_00]: And I imagine a lot of those guys will be
- 15:53[SPEAKER_00]: in the very near future, yeah, so something to watch as we move into it.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_00]: But, yeah, let's go ahead and focus on the game at hands, because it's not getting any closer, that's for sure.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll go ahead and get into our one-up one-down for the win over the Rams.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_00]: And that is brought to you by our good friends from Underdog Fantasy.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_00]: football season is in full swing and underdog is the best place to get in on all the action.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_00]: Playing underdog is easy, just pick whether your favorite players will go higher or lower on stats like brushing yards, receptions, touchdowns, and more.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_00]: Get your picks right and you could win up to 5,000 times your cash.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_00]: So send it over dog shots to tell us more about his experience using the underdog app.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, everyone, you know, I've said it time and time again.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_01]: I think the underdog app is one of the more intuitive apps out there.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_01]: I have a lot of fun with it.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_01]: It's really easy to use and play and sort of like kind of get in.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_01]: All you have to do is you like open it up to games or right there.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_01]: You can pick whatever like players you're looking at, you can hit higher and lower.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_01]: You can hit like whatever stats are interested in.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_01]: You can build up your list of players really quickly.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_01]: Just they make it really easy for you and I think that's great because no one wants to like get like bored trying to figure out how to like decide which player and how to like actually like figure out what's that like it's right there for you it's super fun.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's really great to sort of get that extra juice when you're watching a game that you might otherwise not be interested in that can happen like a lot.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_01]: especially with some of the less thin stellar play, by some NFL teams, but it's just, it's a lot of fun.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_01]: It's not only just for the NFL too, you know, we're in NFL podcast, but like it can use underdog for most only sport or interested in hockey season starting up, if you're into hockey, there you go, like just another option.

- 18:39[SPEAKER_00]: Um, October is why don't you kick it up, kick it off with our, uh, up for the game.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Robert.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm going to totally riff on you and it's going to be great because you're probably going to be like, that's the exact thing I was talking about and you're probably going to mention it mentioned last week, we were previewing this game that there needs to be a quote unquote, which he gave James game, but one receiver shows up and like really takes care of business.
- 19:08[SPEAKER_01]: right sort of goes off.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_01]: And that happened and that happened with old friend.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_01]: It was probably at this Richie James game too most likely.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm entirely sure it went to happen.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_01]: But like I wouldn't be super surprised if he wasn't there.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_01]: That's Kendrick Born.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_01]: 10 Reception's 142 yards on 11 targets.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_01]: Let you know the 49ers.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_01]: That's exceptional production.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_01]: Like
- 19:31[SPEAKER_01]: You needed a wide receiver one, boom, there's your wide receiver one.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_01]: Born was really, really good.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_01]: He had one like bad drop, that's why it's not 11 receptions, but buying large.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_01]: He did what the team needed from him.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_01]: Like he took care of business and for an offense that despite the gotty passing numbers, for the most part, outside like a couple of drives was kind of mediocre and for being completely honest, right, and not very efficient.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_01]: He, Genderborn, did what the 49ers need to him to do.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_01]: I'm also going to like, privilege a little bit into saying that like Alfred Collins tremendous like sort of like right trajectory rise from the start of training camp and to start the OTAs where we were like, you see even like an NFL player, how badly they messed this up to making like the biggest play of the game incredible and just like
- 20:29[SPEAKER_01]: The defense in general, really, really good at the start, kind of mediocre up until the very, very end, but like a couple huge momentous plays and they need to have most.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_01]: It was a real team effort and...
- 20:43[SPEAKER_01]: I think that bears out and having some of these names that you might not think would otherwise contribute contributing, right, like Kendrick Bourne, with the receptions of the arts, you have Alpha Collins with the punch shot on the fourth downstop.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_01]: It was chase Lincoln's who filled the gap and then allowed for like, who would then like, got initial contact and allowed for, right, Warner, Dean Winters and everyone to sort of like finish it off just.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_01]: Incredible work all around and that's what you need when you're hurt.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_01]: You need everyone to chip in.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_01]: That's not the manager's really got there.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_00]: So Kendrick Bourne was on that team, but didn't, I don't know if he didn't play that.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_00]: If he was one of the players that was out in the Richie James game, because he did not have any targets.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_00]: Very, actually, if it's kind of spooky, the atmosphere of the numbers are here, but we don't want to linger on that.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_00]: Well, that's a, let's a, a warm, whole, that we don't think it's stuck in.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, Kendrick Thorne really showed out.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_00]: The funny thing was, is like, how important that drop seemed at the time.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_00]: And certainly, if he caught that ball,
- 22:02[SPEAKER_00]: I think like they're almost certainly going to go up at least 17 to nothing.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_00]: If not 21 and nothing at that point, right?
- 22:10[SPEAKER_00]: They're probably going to like, that's a real like first half step on the third kind of moment.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_00]: It ended up, you know, making for a much more tense game in the end.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_00]: And I think if he catches up all this a fairly decent chance, not a fairly decent chance.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_00]: But I think there's a good chance to the Niners can actually run away with the game
- 22:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, I think it was, as you said, not a terribly efficient offense of showing, but the passing game looked pretty good for the most part.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_00]: I would also, we would also be remiss if we didn't mention, you know, Mac Jones, just his gutsy performance on the day.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_00]: He was asked to do a lot.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_00]: He dropped back.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_00]: 50 times, had 49 passing attempts, 342 yards, two touchdowns.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_00]: There were several times in that game that I was pretty sure he was going to have to come out.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_00]: Like, when he went to the ground with what turned out to be, I think, just like a cramping situation.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, oh, no, he like did his knee.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_00]: He's done like, oh, gosh, Adrian Martinez.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_00]: Are you when he good?
- 23:17[SPEAKER_00]: The season is now over.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_00]: Give me the worst.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_00]: 3 in 2 team of all time, but credit to him to Mac Jones for like gutting through that game.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_00]: It started off pretty well, but because they, as you said, were not particularly efficient on offense, they probably made it a little bit harder than they needed to be.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_00]: I also want to highlight, and this is another thing I wrote about here.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_00]: That, like, my up for this game is, uh, Kyle Janan, welcome to the poll position for coach of the year for 2000 and 25.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I think this is the kind of performance that
- 24:02[SPEAKER_00]: that he needed to like put himself into that conversation.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_00]: Because I think it's just kind of gotten to the point kind of like a sad as this is where people just sort of expect him to do what he does.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_00]: And people forget that he's still pretty good at his job.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, I think this kind of launches him into that conversation because of what he's doing with this team in the shape that it's in.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_00]: I still think he should have won it, you know, when they did the first worse to first in 2019, but that's not the owner there.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_00]: But I think he's like cemented himself into that conversation pretty heavily.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, I think he should have won multiple frankly.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_00]: Like, yeah, I mean, he's done worse to first twice now, right?
- 24:49[SPEAKER_01]: And like with less than people who've gotten these awards have had, right?
- 24:56[SPEAKER_01]: Like,
- 24:58[SPEAKER_01]: It is sort of a truism that, like you said, it's kind of absurd that for 31 teams, having your backup quarterback in, I don't know if you made it, I'm not 31, but for most teams, yeah, when your backup quarterback's in,
- 25:14[SPEAKER_01]: you're expecting the offense to sort of like stop functioning, but regardless for the 49ers, it's like, no, you're back up, like it should be the same.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_01]: And that's all because so many people have just accepted the Kyle Shanihan system is the thing that makes it work, which is tough because that's not how football works, like better players do better things, but like,
- 25:43[SPEAKER_01]: I think beyond a shadow of a doubt, right?
- 25:46[SPEAKER_01]: At the very least, a top three play collar in the NFL.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_01]: Very least, and he's definitely, I think he's won almost certainly, but, and that, like, I think he's taken for granted.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_01]: Like, he got nearly 400 yards of offense with a map of Jones, Kentrick Boren,
- 26:13[SPEAKER_01]: Um, Damarkis Robinson, Jake Tangis and Christian McCaffrey.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_01]: Christian McCaffrey kind of makes you're like, okay, what?
- 26:20[SPEAKER_01]: But like, I guess you're really good ramp steepers.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_01]: Like not a bad ramp, like, a top 10, maybe top 5 unit in the NFL.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_01]: Traveling down on the way game.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_01]: That's crazy.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's insanity.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he, 100% agreed, like,
- 26:43[SPEAKER_01]: My only worry for this year is that no one thought Daniel Jones was good, but I was winning, it's like, yeah, wow, how could that possibly happen in must be because of the coaching, which like, I don't know, I'm not watching Cole's games like that, but not yet, but I mean, really, I think that's his only competition if the nine years make it to the playoffs and any significant seeding, I think that like, yeah.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_01]: And if he's not like at least second, it's a trap, it's an absolute trap, Steve.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yep, 100% agree.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_00]: And as you say, I think there's a pretty good conversation to be had that he should already have one or two of these things, especially because, and we'll all finish this part of the conversation here and then we'll get into the other part of the game.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_00]: Like the fact that almost every year,
- 27:41[SPEAKER_00]: Like, it's kind of a silly award, right?
- 27:43[SPEAKER_00]: Because almost every year, the coach of the year is what guy did the least with or the most with the least, right?
- 27:50[SPEAKER_00]: Kind of thing, or the expertise overcame expectations as usually outworks.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_00]: So if a team is in last place, one year, and in the next year, they're in first place, or they're really good, or they're better than you expected than that's usually how that works.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_00]: But the funny thing is, I think, wasn't 19 when Jim were not Jim, when Harbow won it again.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 28:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because they were like 14 and two.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_00]: And it's like, yeah, but everybody expected they're even speaking.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_00]: That's not how this is supposed to work.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_00]: Because otherwise, Bill Belichick would have like, 19 of these things, right?
- 28:22[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I mean, if we really want to sort of get like,
- 28:27[SPEAKER_01]: into, like, the awards hating on the Niners.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I think this was happening.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_01]: But like, like, the year they changed what compact clear of the year was.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_01]: Was the year Jimmy Grappler came back from like, like, you know, like, I'm, like, that year.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_00]: This is the exact same conversation.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was just, they just like were like, I don't think they wanted to give Niners awards for things that year.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_01]: Bye, whatever awards don't mean anything.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this is this is very funny like the fact that he is literally done the narrative the narrative that is supposedly that award is I mean not like they don't say that obviously, but it but if you look at the history of the coach of the year award it very often goes to that kind of situation
- 29:13[SPEAKER_00]: and the two times that he's done it, he's not one it.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_00]: And it's quite the fact that, okay.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_00]: And again, again, some of these things are silly because like I said, I don't think Bill Bell checked everyone in the award and he was the coach of the best team in the NFL for a really long time.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_00]: You know, things like that.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_00]: But anyway, I think he's doing a good job and he's got more work to do in the coming in the coming week.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll get into that moment.
- 29:44[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 29:45[SPEAKER_00]: So let's go ahead and talk about the downs for this game because obviously never, never perfect, especially when you got this many injuries.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_00]: So I'll just tell us about your down for this match.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_01]: to list, because like, they didn't play super well.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_01]: They played well enough, but that's different.
- 30:09[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna choose one of the less obvious ones, but if we don't mention it at the end of the section, I'll just reflect them at the end because they do think they're like long or term issues.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_01]: I think Marcus Seagull, in particular, had a rough game, and I think in general,
- 30:31[SPEAKER_01]: has had real issue with making plays on the ball over the first five weeks and I thought it came to a head against the Rams, like a couple huge catches on seagull and it's just he's always in the right position but he's not making the play like the play I'm remembering on a third down he literally had his hand on the ball like stuck through the receiver and just like couldn't rip through like
- 31:00[SPEAKER_01]: I think, and this is getting to another down, but which is more of a longer-term issue, because the team doesn't really have a consistent past Russian anymore, but like Nick Bosa being gone for the year.
- 31:12[SPEAKER_01]: The secondary has to be tighter.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_01]: They have to make more plays, and they have to be like game changes, right?
- 31:19[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's not good enough anymore for the secondary to be good.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_01]: They have to be the ones who leave the charge.
- 31:26[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't think that played up tonight.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_01]: Was that the reason it was as tight as it was?
- 31:33[SPEAKER_01]: One of the smaller ones, sure, but something I flagged definitely as like a new, of an issue that's been cropping up that I think is gonna start coming to a head.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_01]: Now that the past rush gets more and more exposed,
- 31:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that was exactly what I had for my down as well.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, the secondary got ticked on.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_00]: And I think it's not necessarily that the secondary has, they haven't gotten worse.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_00]: It's just without the past rush.
- 32:04[SPEAKER_00]: It's easier to do so, right?
- 32:06[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I mean, I think there were concerns about Marky's Seagull as a,
- 32:13[SPEAKER_00]: as a cover guy coming into this I think he's obviously in there is for his other for other skills that he has as a as a safety and he probably wasn't exposed as much earlier a little early in the season when the past rush was a little better like it I don't think the past rush has been great at all this season but obviously having both out there for the first couple of weeks
- 32:40[SPEAKER_00]: a little bit, and what we've seen over the last couple of games since he's been heard is that past rush is not there, before an owner's just don't have the horses to get home with four anymore, and so they're having to get a little bit more exotic, and so that's putting a lot more pressure on the defense of backs, and I mean we saw a diameter of a little or get picked on a little bit.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_00]: Hisses most of the kind of leaves and stuff like that, which you know, these are all
- 33:06[SPEAKER_00]: uh... things that happen when you can't rush the passer uh... and so like you said somebody's gonna have to step up uh... maybe it'll be mouth Mustafa coming back will inject a little bit of something into this team uh... uh... uh... up to style also
- 33:22[SPEAKER_00]: not like just you know the guys at the back in general were we're struggling but I thought I think the two rookies in particular had rough rough games so but they've you know Marcus Coole also Marcus Coole probably had like the biggest the second biggest defense
- 33:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he's got, he's not a completely lost college.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously he's five games into his NFL career, but I think there's, it's pretty clear where his struggles are and areas where he needs to improve.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, like, he had 13 combined tackles to lead to 49ers.
- 34:03[SPEAKER_01]: That is both a good thing, because it means he's getting after the ball, right?
- 34:07[SPEAKER_01]: And he's making run plays.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_01]: But it's a bad thing, because a lot of those are give up completion, get tackled.
- 34:13[SPEAKER_01]: And that's like,
- 34:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's about having that mix of like in cover sort of play there.
- 34:19[SPEAKER_01]: And like you said, right, like it's not what he was known for, but he's out there.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_01]: You know, he's got to start becoming a thing.
- 34:28[SPEAKER_01]: And like it's not to pick on him.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_01]: Like the secondary general is fine.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, like you said, right, it's not that they're now.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_02]: Instead of being the second unit on the third unit, I like the higher here of three, which when the linebackers do offensive line and themselves, they're now second.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, or I mean, like in terms of importance, you can even call them first, like this linebackers love a lot.
- 34:54[SPEAKER_02]: Like they jump up, right?
- 34:56[SPEAKER_02]: They matter more than they did other miles.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_02]: And that means that like,
- 35:01[SPEAKER_02]: They have to play better, right?
- 35:02[SPEAKER_01]: They don't, they can't get bailed out by the defensive line in a way that they could have been, they did in times, you know, we wanted to, right?
- 35:11[SPEAKER_01]: Like, the game was ended because the defensive line we made a quick play, right?
- 35:17[SPEAKER_01]: That, that's safe then.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that that's just not, it's not coming anymore.
- 35:22[SPEAKER_01]: And
- 35:24[SPEAKER_01]: It's unfortunate, but it's win this.
- 35:26[SPEAKER_02]: I will also add, because neither of us brought it up like the running game.
- 35:30[SPEAKER_02]: It's a real problem.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_02]: It's getting worse and worse and worse and worse and they need to Christian McAfrey had 57 yards on 22 carries.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_02]: This 2.6 yards per carry.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, and it wasn't that wasn't even the worst thing.
- 35:46[SPEAKER_00]: That wasn't even the worst yards per carry on the team.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_02]: No, that was the best.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, no.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_02]: Best of y'all is prepared.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_02]: Brian Robinson, five for 12, long to five.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_02]: Matt Jones, four for five, long to two.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_02]: I don't even know what you should.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_02]: You should I grant the ball.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_02]: That's great.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_00]: They tried to run.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_00]: They tried to run him on like a third and one player.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm like that and he got like, early goal on something.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_00]: I don't remember what it was.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_02]: That, okay, well, that's not, that's not, yeah, that's not great, okay, well it's guy more one for one and around that's fine, like end around's work or they don't that's like credit to the defense, but like yeah, that's this is like a trotisly bad like.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_01]: The stat, no rushing touch show, whatever, fine, like not great, obviously they should be like punching it in the end zone and like a run game is part of that, but this is like you can't win a football in more football games like this like this is getting to you are going to lose football games because you can't run the ball and like
- 36:57[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if it's, they need like, then barge back if they need all the other players back.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_02]: I think they just need to be healthy everywhere.
- 37:07[SPEAKER_02]: Or like what it is, because it's not clicking and it's costumed in.
- 37:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, I think there's one player that stands out to me, the group that is not out there.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_00]: And I can say this pretty definitively because we haven't seen him, but for the first quarter of the first game, and that's George Giddell, like I think he changes things from like obviously he's a very good run blocker, like that is something not only very good at it, but also enjoys doing it, probably with a fervor that we should probably be suspicious of, I'm just gonna say, but also.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_00]: Like the fact that you don't like other teams don't feel like they have to respect Jake Tongus as a receiver or really much of anything.
- 37:53[SPEAKER_00]: I think that probably changes the calculus a little bit, right?
- 37:56[SPEAKER_00]: Because you kind of feel like some predictability, some predictability with the tight end group as it stands like Tongus is going to go out there and he's probably going to catch the ball, you know, when Luke Feral comes out there, he's probably
- 38:13[SPEAKER_00]: like it doesn't allow you to be versatile as they need to be, but I'm right there with you, like the rushing touchdown thing is kind of like a quirky like, oh, that's kind of weird.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_00]: Like theoretically you could survive without rushing it, having any rushing touchdowns at all, but you can't survive running it less than three and a half or four yards per clip.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I mean, like to be frank, it's not like the Rams were lightened up either.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_00]: Um, their stats look okay, but they really basically like gave up on the run.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_00]: They only ran the wall 16 times, which is just wild to me.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_00]: Um, Kiron Williams numbers look okay.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_00]: Like, as average is 4.6, but you also have, but he had one long of 20.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_00]: And he only ran for 65 yards.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_00]: So if you take that out, it's, you know, 13 carries for 40 yards, which is also not great.
- 39:05[SPEAKER_00]: So it was, which is weird too, right?
- 39:07[SPEAKER_00]: Like, that's these two guys more than anybody else, probably in the entire NFL.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_00]: Like, that's what they want to do, right?
- 39:14[SPEAKER_00]: They're all, I mean, the broadcast is talking about this.
- 39:16[SPEAKER_00]: Like, they want these, they want to, you know, make these really skinny, like, the whole, like, make the field really thin and run the ball and let it, and it's just, like, it's just funny that both these teams, like,
- 39:30[SPEAKER_00]: They're for 300 and almost 350 plus yards per team.
- 39:35[SPEAKER_00]: This is kind of like interesting.
- 39:37[SPEAKER_00]: But these two, if we had said, OK, here's the entirety of the NFL, which two teams are least likely to not run for 100 yards and throw for almost 350 plus, which teams would you pick?
- 39:51[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if they'd be on the list.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think that's a great point, like it's odd.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_01]: It's odd.
- 40:00[SPEAKER_01]: It's odd.
- 40:00[SPEAKER_01]: It's weird.
- 40:01[SPEAKER_01]: It's weird.
- 40:03[SPEAKER_01]: It's annoying and like they got to do better.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_01]: I mean like to the ramps point right like for to the comparison right like being down more.
- 40:14[SPEAKER_01]: You throw the ball more and like yeah, I with like if I had to like scheme against the 40 Niners I throw the ball like a billion times True, like it seems like the one thing they're pretty good at doing is stopping the run.
- 40:26[SPEAKER_01]: So like, which was nice to say right right from last.
- 40:30[SPEAKER_01]: I was just about to say like that was their goal.
- 40:32[SPEAKER_01]: They did it now.
- 40:33[SPEAKER_01]: They got to be good at the other things, which they're like good at right.
- 40:36[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously they're they're forward one.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_01]: They're the best team.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_01]: The NFC West.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_01]: They're against and then it's you right now.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_01]: So like
- 40:44[SPEAKER_01]: But that's like bread and butter.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_01]: So it's time to like, you gotta build off that and Nick both say health with that.
- 40:50[SPEAKER_01]: They don't have it.
- 40:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 40:52[SPEAKER_01]: You ain't gonna lie.
- 40:54[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe they'll make a move for that.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_01]: But until then, you run with what you got and they got it, they gotta figure it out.
- 41:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 41:02[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think John Lynch said something about, they gotta earn, and like he said things like this before.
- 41:10[SPEAKER_00]: Like you got to earn the right for trades to happen and I feel like I mean we're still a little less in a month away.
- 41:17[SPEAKER_00]: It's like the November second.
- 41:19[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's a trade deadline.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_00]: It's not actually at Halloween, but it's the like the Sunday after that after Halloween or something like that.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_00]: But it's coming up, like there's only a couple more weeks, and if you look at the Niners Schedule, leading up to that, and we'll talk about this more in the coming weeks.
- 41:43[SPEAKER_00]: So they have the Buccaneers on Sunday, and then of course, my computer is decided it doesn't want to show me what the rest their schedule is.
- 41:53[SPEAKER_00]: I know they have Tampa on Sunday.
- 41:54[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so they're at Tampa, they're home for the Falcons,
- 42:03[SPEAKER_00]: uh, at the Texans at the Giants.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_00]: The Giants at game is on the second.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_00]: I think that is, I think the trade deadline is the first, which is the day before that.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_00]: This is it's usually on a Saturday, right?
- 42:13[SPEAKER_00]: That's on right.
- 42:14[SPEAKER_01]: The trade deadline now was that was on a Tuesday.
- 42:18[SPEAKER_01]: Well, but what do I know?
- 42:21[SPEAKER_01]: What are we like, or a Monday?
- 42:30[SPEAKER_00]: November 4th actually.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_00]: So it is a Tuesday.
- 42:33[SPEAKER_00]: So it's the week after that game.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, so they'll play 1, 2, 3, 4 more games before then.
- 42:40[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I mean, if you take care of business against the teams that you should take care of, which to me feels like winning three more games right three out of four.
- 42:51[SPEAKER_00]: At least like two like you got to finish at least two and two and to leave yourself in that conversation You finish two and two you're six and two heading into the That trade deadline Yeah, I mean you got to earn it like you got to give the team or they're not gonna trade away assets
- 43:09[SPEAKER_00]: Drate draft assets, potential draft picks for probably a rental of a guy if you don't think if it's like a team that doesn't really have a chance to even get into the playoff.
- 43:21[SPEAKER_00]: So you got to you like you can't go out there and lose the next four games and expect for that to happen.
- 43:26[SPEAKER_00]: So they really got to earn that that's Bob.
- 43:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, I think it's like I totally agree, like it's six and two, you've earned the right to compete for the playoffs and for your front, the front office to reward that every.
- 43:43[SPEAKER_01]: Anything Western that I think given how competitive the NFC West has been, I wouldn't, I don't think it's it's smart for the for like basically our whole discussion with this year and this schedule is they should make the playoffs that's just like they even now with all the injuries they probably still should make the playoffs.
- 44:13[SPEAKER_02]: They have to play well to show that like this is a real shot with them, right?
- 44:19[SPEAKER_01]: Like, because if it's not, if it's sort of like wayward or whatever, it's not smart for the Niners to sort of like spend resources on this year.
- 44:30[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's smart for them to sort of like take step back in.
- 44:33[SPEAKER_01]: sort of like reassens a lot of the year to play out how it goes.
- 44:38[SPEAKER_01]: So like you've got to like create the situation.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_01]: In the same way the 2019 team did, right?
- 44:46[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that team was not expected to be really good, but they played really, really good heading into the trade deadline.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_01]: And that sort of forced the issue.
- 44:53[SPEAKER_01]: That's why the manager's traded for a manual.
- 44:55[SPEAKER_02]: Sanders, who's great and like great for that team, right?
- 44:59[SPEAKER_02]: That's how
- 45:00[SPEAKER_02]: This team has no prior history, essentially, right?
- 45:04[SPEAKER_02]: This is not a young and yeah, exactly.
- 45:07[SPEAKER_01]: This is not like a team that's been to the Super Bowl two years ago.
- 45:11[SPEAKER_01]: Even though they were a team that was in the Super Bowl two years ago, that's not this team and that's not how you're viewing this team.
- 45:16[SPEAKER_01]: This team is sort of its own thing, that they have to come into their own right as playoff contenders.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_01]: to be treated as such.
- 45:23[SPEAKER_01]: In my opinion, I think that's the Twitter approach too.
- 45:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, again, if they lose the Buccaneers on Sunday, I think we already talked about this.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_00]: Like, this run, this ran, this Buccaneers back to back is probably the the toughest
- 45:38[SPEAKER_00]: run that they're going to see through the season.
- 45:40[SPEAKER_00]: That is one of the benefits of the last place scheduled by the way.
- 45:43[SPEAKER_00]: You don't have too many gamuts like that.
- 45:47[SPEAKER_00]: And we weren't expecting them to be the Rams, so they got that kind of banged as you already said.
- 45:52[SPEAKER_00]: If they lose the bucks, maybe that's not a big deal, but you got to take care of business against the Falcons and the Texans and the Giants.
- 45:58[SPEAKER_00]: And then, oh, by the way, after the trade deadline, the two weeks after the
- 46:05[SPEAKER_00]: And they don't even, they're by week isn't even for two weeks after that, then they play the tanthers and at the browns and then they're by and then they have four more games after that, which is just like that seems crazy to me.
- 46:18[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to be, we're going to be having real conversations about how the by week was really necessary, just have a feeling anyway, so that's just a couple of thoughts.
- 46:28[SPEAKER_00]: So random thought about this about the the game that we alluded to earlier, which was the the rich richy james game There were here's here that we're gonna play a fun little game here.
- 46:41[SPEAKER_00]: There were three Well, let me make sure that I'm counting
- 46:48[SPEAKER_00]: There were two players in that I know for sure of that I can tell you for sure.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_00]: There were two offensive players that were a part of that Richie James game.
- 47:00[SPEAKER_00]: They were also a part of the game on Sunday.
- 47:03[SPEAKER_00]: The Kendrick Born game is it were or on Thursday.
- 47:06[SPEAKER_00]: Do you know who they were?
- 47:18[SPEAKER_01]: to Marcus Robinson.
- 47:20[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 47:21[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, wow.
- 47:21[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_01]: When was the Richie James game?
- 47:24[SPEAKER_01]: Could you?
- 47:25[SPEAKER_00]: It was 2020.
- 47:26[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 47:27[SPEAKER_00]: But it was not the Rams.
- 47:28[SPEAKER_00]: So don't think about that.
- 47:32[SPEAKER_00]: Do you remember who the opponent was?
- 47:33[SPEAKER_00]: If I tell you the opponent, I feel like it's going to give it a way.
- 47:35[SPEAKER_01]: I want to say it was the Packers.
- 47:38[SPEAKER_00]: It was the Packers.
- 47:39[SPEAKER_00]: You got it.
- 47:39[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 47:39[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 47:40[SPEAKER_01]: Devontate Adams.
- 47:41[UNKNOWN]: Yep.
- 47:49[SPEAKER_01]: I Really really really great work here Real time yeah real time yes, and this is popping in my head as I was thinking about it because I just saw some names.
- 48:07[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, oh, that's interesting All right, the second one it is currently a 49er, but was not
- 48:15[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, is it MVS?
- 48:16[SPEAKER_00]: It is.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_00]: Mark has failed his scaling.
- 48:18[SPEAKER_00]: Mark, who was, by the way, the packer's second leading receiver because Richie James almost outdone by Devante Adams that day 10 catches 173 yards.
- 48:29[SPEAKER_00]: Richie 9 for 184 that day in the touchdown for an honors loss 347.
- 48:40[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know what, ran the ball just as effective for the kids to get to that almost actually they were better, but they only ran the ball 17 times because they were losing Aaron Roder's Nick Mullins.
- 48:51[SPEAKER_00]: What's the quarterback that day?
- 48:52[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, it was quite a time, what a time to be alive that was, all right.
- 48:59[SPEAKER_00]: So, do we have anything else that we need to say about this win over the Rams?
- 49:06[SPEAKER_00]: It was almost a week ago, as you're listening to this, so we apologize again for being late.
- 49:11[SPEAKER_00]: That's, we blame Thursday night in weird schedules and things that happen.
- 49:16[SPEAKER_00]: Thankfully, we'll not have to do with that for the rest of the week or the rest of the season.
- 49:21[SPEAKER_00]: But, um, I'll stress any final parting words on this one.
- 49:25[SPEAKER_01]: Just that you will hear from us very, I mean, depending on how it is, you can see my podcast and the schedule by which you use it, you'll probably hear from us fairly soon.
- 49:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 49:35[SPEAKER_01]: And that we are fully, we are aware that things have changed from Thursday and there's some we're good and some we're not so good, but.
- 49:46[SPEAKER_01]: I think in us doing this so late, you do get the chance to kind of go back and appreciate and what is often like a week to a week sort of turn around.
- 49:56[SPEAKER_01]: Just how sick it was that they won.
- 49:58[SPEAKER_01]: Like, they're they're they're four and one.
- 50:01[SPEAKER_01]: They pulled it through.
- 50:02[SPEAKER_01]: We didn't expect it.
- 50:03[SPEAKER_01]: I was almost not going to watch the game because I thought they were going to lose.
- 50:07[SPEAKER_01]: I knew it was always my time.
- 50:09[SPEAKER_01]: But boom, there you go.
- 50:10[SPEAKER_01]: Like it was fun.
- 50:12[SPEAKER_01]: It was exciting.
- 50:14[SPEAKER_01]: That's what football's all about.
- 50:15[SPEAKER_01]: I wouldn't have it any other way.
- 50:17[SPEAKER_01]: And hopefully they'll keep it going.
- 50:20[SPEAKER_01]: Going in Sunday.
- 50:21[SPEAKER_00]: Agreed.
- 50:21[SPEAKER_00]: And that was also very nice to my friends friend.
- 50:23[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't even mention it.
- 50:24[SPEAKER_00]: Because I wouldn't have wanted them to rub into my face if they had won.
- 50:28[SPEAKER_00]: So I thought that was the
- 50:31[SPEAKER_01]: If it was maybe, I don't know, I don't know if that's my, that'll be my takeaway, be like Robert, you know, don't, don't, don't, don't trash talk other fans, unless you're okay with the trash to know.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_00]: That's right, you got to be able to take it, although if he had said anything to be out of been like, okay, you trashed our backups, congratulations.
- 50:54[SPEAKER_00]: really it would have been like I mean the rich trash talk available when you're back up speed a good team is choice I just must say.
