- 0:00Nearly back up and running completely.
- 0:02I have lost my microphone. When you say when you say
- 0:08running, you mean your system is running?
- 0:12Let's see, what do you mean you've started going for a jog?
- 0:15Excuse me? Sister was running and I was
- 0:17like, oh, she's just cutting stuff back and forth.
- 0:20Is she? Everything.
- 0:23I've got the computer desk up and running now.
- 0:25I've got monitors up, desk up. I just lost my microphone so now
- 0:31I've gone the wireless headset while I find that next week I'll
- 0:35have that. So it was you don't have a bed,
- 0:38does. That have a bed no I built.
- 0:40You've only just had it, got a desk.
- 0:42But I do need to ask a very important question.
- 0:44Yes. Is your Xbox hooked up?
- 0:47That was the first thing that was hooked off.
- 0:49Welcome to Multiple Nerdgasm with your hosts Matt, Luke and
- 0:56Dan Multiple Nerd Jasmine, your guide to all things nerdy.
- 1:08Matt, I'll just correct you there.
- 1:10He's got a bed. He just hasn't put it together.
- 1:13Sorry, yes, sorry. Did I say got a bed?
- 1:15I said no, you haven't got a bed is what I meant.
- 1:17It's half put together but because I hurt my knee, I hope
- 1:20that there was a deal down to finish putting it together.
- 1:24Yeah, that sucks. Yeah, so decide to power through
- 1:30to get the desk built because I thought that was more important.
- 1:33Can you just Uber eats somebody to assemble a bed?
- 1:36You can. It's called Air Tasker.
- 1:38Air Tasker? Yeah, it's basically Yeah, yeah,
- 1:43Fuck them. You just put on.
- 1:45No, you can't, Luke. You cannot.
- 1:46Well, it's the. One thing you can't do?
- 1:49Yeah. For God's sake, Yeah.
- 1:52It's not that kind of app I need to.
- 1:54Test a bed when they finish. Just I mean you could.
- 2:00Put that in. There, waiting to see you.
- 2:02Probably want to use Craigslist for that.
- 2:04Do you have Craigslist in Australia?
- 2:07I don't know. No, I never, I never used it
- 2:10when I was there for anything. It's good for like free stuff
- 2:13and apparently for hooking up. Apparently.
- 2:16Oh, OK. I learned that when I was in
- 2:17court. No, I was in court when I was in
- 2:20the jury. I was in the room on the.
- 2:23Jury. Yeah.
- 2:26Sure, free stuff and Craigslist. No free stuff, and I think we do
- 2:31on Craigslist. You do have Craigslist, Yeah.
- 2:33It doesn't surprise me. I know it was not.
- 2:36Craigslist.com. I'm assuming that's just means
- 2:39it's local. Yeah, it's an organization.
- 2:43Yeah, nonprofit. Yeah, well, I can't believe that
- 2:46that makes it true. Magicians.
- 2:50Magicians. Magicians.
- 2:53Yeah, right. No musicians training post
- 2:55musicians. Yeah.
- 2:57Right. Remember the Trading Post I.
- 2:58Love the trading post? You used to get a huge magazine.
- 3:02You used to get. On the 1:00.
- 3:03Magazine. Newspaper.
- 3:05My friend tried to steal a Playboy once by putting it
- 3:08inside a copy of the trading post because the trading post
- 3:10was $1.50. Took it up to the counter.
- 3:13That wasn't why I steal. It it wasn't the price.
- 3:16No wonder. But it it, I mean like it in a
- 3:19way it was because it was cheaper than the other
- 3:21newspapers. He was basically trying to hide
- 3:22A Playboy. Right.
- 3:23So that was the reason he chose that newspaper.
- 3:25Because it's a for $1.50, he could potentially get away with
- 3:28a Playboy. Except if it's very fucking
- 3:30obvious. Yes, because it's a thin paper.
- 3:32Yeah. And then it's this big gap and
- 3:34it's like, and it also, he wouldn't hand it to him.
- 3:36I'll just try to press thanks. And the guy's like, sure, just
- 3:38hand it here and I'll, I'll ring that up.
- 3:40And he's like just Katie, just just just ring it up, eh?
- 3:43And then yeah. And then yeah, I was like,
- 3:47what'd you die for? We can never come here again.
- 3:49Yeah, ever. Yeah, no, I do it all the time.
- 3:54Do you? Yeah, no, I've not.
- 4:00What we used to do was just go to the quicks and just read
- 4:02them. Yeah, yes, well, that's
- 4:05different because they didn't give a shit.
- 4:07But at that point, we were also old enough to buy them.
- 4:09I assume that this story takes place in a in a universe where
- 4:12your friend couldn't. Buy Yeah, I would have been
- 4:15probably 15 or 16. Yeah.
- 4:16And the guy who owns the convenience store knows my dad,
- 4:19so yeah. Yeah.
- 4:21No ideal. Because it's where your dad buys
- 4:24Playboys outright without. A place where, yeah, I used to
- 4:27try my cigarette. And goes, yeah, just a trading
- 4:29post and a Playboy and a pack of cigarettes.
- 4:30Thanks. He's tried my cigarettes and he
- 4:34goes fuck no. And then the day I turned 18, my
- 4:37dad must have told him because I went in and I was like, pack it
- 4:40to Peter Jackson. Whatevers.
- 4:43And he was like, and I was like, damn it.
- 4:46You've never ID me. Yeah, I thought I was going to
- 4:49be a smart ass and be like, fuck you, I've got an ID.
- 4:51And he was like, yeah, sure. Here you go.
- 4:53Damn. It Are you aware of the the
- 4:56increase in 3rd party black market cigarettes in Australia
- 5:00now, Matt? You know.
- 5:03It's 70 or $80 per packet of cigarettes now.
- 5:07No. Packet 2570 to $80.00 for a
- 5:11regular. Oh, really?
- 5:12Yeah, that's incredible. More if you want an import
- 5:15brand, you know, but just yeah, 70 to $80 if you just want a
- 5:19local brand. Pack of Winnie Blues or
- 5:20something? Yeah, so.
- 5:23And of course, you know, you're not allowed to advertise.
- 5:24They're not even allowed to have the name of the brand on the
- 5:27packet, right. So there's all of these things
- 5:30trying to stand. In your way.
- 5:31Wow, OK. And now evidently, people have
- 5:38turned to some kind of black market cigarettes, which I guess
- 5:44is what happens when you price people out of the.
- 5:46Yeah, it's, I mean, I don't know how.
- 5:48Where do you buy these things at?
- 5:51Tobacconists. Yeah, or it's probably.
- 5:55Like popping up everywhere to the selling illegal cigarettes.
- 6:00But remember those kind of Remember those tobacconists that
- 6:03just popped up selling like crack pipes, etcetera.
- 6:06Yeah, right. And everyone was like, how is
- 6:08that even a thing? I mean, we still there's,
- 6:10they're everywhere here because sure, because weed's, weed's
- 6:13legal here now. So there's like head shops
- 6:16everywhere. Like, yeah, right.
- 6:19That's all that kind of shit. But also cigarettes are freely
- 6:22available here at a reasonable price.
- 6:24Not that I smoke, but. No, but do people still smoke?
- 6:26Because nobody was smoking here. People have started.
- 6:29That's good point again. I don't.
- 6:32I can't think the last time I saw somebody smoking so.
- 6:35Maybe I don't know how to test. It last time I had a cigarette
- 6:37was last month. Was it?
- 6:42I had a couple of cigarettes. I had a cigarette.
- 6:44Well, I was away and Oh my God, it still tastes good.
- 6:48Yeah. It's been at least at least 15
- 6:53years I think since I've had one.
- 6:55It probably wasn't that long for me, but I'll just do a couple of
- 6:58people that smoked on the trip and I went, oh, I was doing the
- 7:02passage, but I'll, I'll have one and my God, it was great,
- 7:07really. Yeah, I've tried since quitting
- 7:12once or twice and not made it through a single stick.
- 7:15It made me. Yeah, that's right.
- 7:17I can't. I can't remember when the last
- 7:19one I had or tried to have was, but.
- 7:22I've no, my mind still wants them.
- 7:23I'm still romantically attached to them.
- 7:25I just no, I can't have them. Yeah, no, I think I see someone
- 7:29smoke if I watch Mad Men or some old movie or James Bond.
- 7:32More on that later. I'm just like fuck.
- 7:34Oh. Interesting.
- 7:38I just I would start smoking again tomorrow if they weren't
- 7:41$80 a packet that would be 160. Dollars a day, not very good for
- 7:47you. I'll just put that out there.
- 7:48No, and you'll be also socially as well at this point.
- 7:52Looks like there's no way to besides me.
- 7:54There's no way to smoke that isn't gonna annoy somebody, and.
- 7:58I I quit when it was $17.00 a packet and I thought that was
- 8:02expensive. Yeah, I remember when it got to
- 8:04$10 a packet and we were like this is a bit much.
- 8:06If it goes any higher than this, we would have to consider
- 8:08quitting. I remember we'd all quit and
- 8:10then we came here on a trip and it was so cheap that we kind of
- 8:13just took it up again for the for.
- 8:17The trip to come back. And then we and then we went
- 8:19back and I think that's probably the last time I had one was
- 8:21here. On that trip I.
- 8:23Think I remember buying a carton of cigarettes for.
- 8:27You'd give $50 and get change and that's for 8 packets.
- 8:34I didn't quit. Those.
- 8:35Completely until 2017. That's when I gave it up for
- 8:39good. Yeah, right.
- 8:41Yeah, I don't remember certainly.
- 8:44Because I was like, I was like, there's a pandemic coming.
- 8:46I'm going to need these lungs, you know, I'm going to need it
- 8:48in top form. Yeah, certainly not.
- 8:52I never smoked when I was. Fucked.
- 8:54Do you remember that? Do you remember like COVID?
- 8:57Remember that fucking weird thing that happened for one year
- 9:00of? Course.
- 9:01I remember, I remember. Yeah.
- 9:03I mean, like the pandemic. I mean, not going to work and
- 9:05watching Tiger King all day. Sure, but I also remember being
- 9:09at home and not, no one quite knew how dangerous it was yet,
- 9:13but we knew people had died. And then I remember seeing an
- 9:17ambulance pull up to my condo and somebody get stretched it
- 9:20into it and it's like, OK, someone in this fucking building
- 9:22has it. And then terrible, still can't
- 9:26agree on how dangerous it was or wasn't or whatever.
- 9:29Like I, I mean, you know, people say, no, it was just the flu and
- 9:32that, but like, I know people, I know of people who who died of
- 9:36it and I know of somebody who almost died of it, right?
- 9:39And like was saved by some fucking revolutionary thing that
- 9:43they developed because of it. So it's kind of like, I don't
- 9:46know, man. It seemed like it was pretty
- 9:47bad. I just want to go back to it
- 9:50because I worked through all of that, like went into the office
- 9:53every day because I had to. I was a central employee.
- 9:56Yeah. And.
- 9:58You're essential to this show, that's for sure.
- 10:00Yeah. And I just, I loved it.
- 10:03It was a great time. Ordered food all the time.
- 10:07Living on the edge. Lukey loves it.
- 10:10Yep, didn't get covered until I stopped going to work.
- 10:15Yeah, remember when I got it? It sucked.
- 10:18It did suck. We got and then it gets me
- 10:20whatever strain D or whatever it was that filtered down to us,
- 10:23which. Was yeah, the not currently bad
- 10:25one. Not as bad, but it was still the
- 10:27worst sick that I knocked in me the.
- 10:29Fuck out, yeah. Yeah, no, I she knocked me.
- 10:33Around something yeah crazy so like imagine having COVID
- 10:37vaccine and also having to look after a child that has COVID
- 10:40that's. How long?
- 10:41Yeah, I know. Yeah.
- 10:43Hell on earth. Yeah, Lira had it.
- 10:46Remember when there was a thing of oh, just let it go, it's only
- 10:49going to kill off the old people.
- 10:50It'll be fine. They still say that that's what
- 10:53we should have done over here. People still say that.
- 10:56It's like, I don't know, man. And.
- 11:00They're not going to die anyway. But now there's a problem
- 11:02argument about. What's that?
- 11:05Old people are going to die anyway.
- 11:06Is there is are old people a problem in your country that we
- 11:09need to. Oh, I mean the wealthy ones will
- 11:11be all right. Yeah, fair.
- 11:13I see what you're saying. You got the wealthy.
- 11:16I don't know what that happened everyone else.
- 11:18Yeah. I, I, I yeah, OK, it's probably
- 11:20class based and race based. I assume that that argument.
- 11:25I would. I would guess so, yeah.
- 11:28OK, Yeah. You're gonna need to self
- 11:31retire. Found your retiree.
- 11:34You're not gonna have social services to protect you by.
- 11:36That stage, No, no, no. Yeah, we're getting rid of all
- 11:38that stuff. Yeah.
- 11:38Now look, I've got my I've got my super in Australia that I can
- 11:42have at some point on my insurance.
- 11:45My life insurance is through there, which saves me a ton of
- 11:47money because life insurance here is fucking expensive and I
- 11:50just don't need it because I've got it through my super.
- 11:52It's great. Yeah, right.
- 11:53Oh, that's great. And.
- 11:54You've put your 401 Ki. Have a 401.
- 11:57Yeah, but. All that's 401K Oh wow.
- 11:59Yeah, we you're fucked if you don't.
- 12:01Yeah, yeah. Yeah, basically.
- 12:03And a lot of people don't. That's anyway we don't do this.
- 12:05This is, yeah. Let's we talk about something
- 12:09nerdy. I saw a movie.
- 12:12Did you? So a movie that I know Luke's
- 12:14scene. At the cinema.
- 12:16I went to the cinema. Did you?
- 12:18See in three. DI did not see it in 3D because
- 12:21I was going to but I but I don't like 3D and then I I checked it
- 12:26was not filmed in 3D. Yeah, it was just.
- 12:28Converted. So I was like alpha, yeah.
- 12:30I wasn't going. It was the only one that was
- 12:32screening at the time. That's why.
- 12:34Oh. You did see it in 3D, Luke?
- 12:36Yeah, yeah. OK, but.
- 12:37Just because I we're talking about need something to do Tron
- 12:40Aries controversial Phil. That's how controversial people.
- 12:44Started the name Tron because he's not in it.
- 12:47OK, just theories then. Tron wasn't in Tron Legacy.
- 12:51Yes, he was. Was he?
- 12:52Yep. Was he in it?
- 12:56Because it's played by Bruce Box and.
- 13:01I I just don't remember him being in.
- 13:02Sheridan, isn't he? I don't know, you might be
- 13:06right, I just don't remember. But yeah, Fairpoint Tron is not
- 13:09in this. Like I say, I kind of liked it.
- 13:15I know, I know. Well, I'll, I'll say this Matt,
- 13:18your bullshit meter for Jared Leto is lower than a lot of
- 13:22people's. You don't mind it.
- 13:25And he's certainly not the worst thing about this.
- 13:27He's just fine, like, right? He's not.
- 13:29You know he doesn't. Yeah, that's the weird.
- 13:32Thing about Jared Leto, I think I think the worst performance in
- 13:35this is the the guy who plays the CEO of Dillinger.
- 13:40That guy's and he's a good actor, but in this he's just
- 13:42atrocious. It's just a it's very reminded
- 13:45me of what's his name in Batman VS Superman, Lex Luthor, What's
- 13:52that? Oh, Jesse Eisenberg?
- 13:53It's just just too too silly and over the top.
- 13:56Don't do that. I don't like him that.
- 13:58Ruined Jesse Eisenberg for everything for me.
- 14:00I can't what I mean anything now.
- 14:03Well, he hasn't been anything now.
- 14:05No, he's coming out. And you, now you.
- 14:07Seen you. Now you.
- 14:07Don't. Yeah, he's got another fucking
- 14:09yeah. He's been in a couple of things
- 14:10that I would have watched if it wasn't for him.
- 14:13And I was right. Tron was in Tron Legacy.
- 14:16He was remember when that come face to face with him and
- 14:18they're like you Tron here, and he's like, yes, it's me, Tron.
- 14:22This is my legacy. Yeah, welcome to it.
- 14:29So what you're saying, Matt, is that it's all style and no
- 14:31substance? Oh, absolutely it is.
- 14:34And in fact, I, I wondered. So first of all, my expectations
- 14:36were very low. That helps.
- 14:38I guess that does help. They were very low.
- 14:40I was literally waiting there going, let's see how bad this
- 14:42is. And then I was like, ah, it's
- 14:43all right. Yeah.
- 14:44And then over time, kind of warmed to it.
- 14:47And then you know, there is a spectacle, you know, like the I
- 14:51mean, spoilers doesn't matter. You know when they they 3D print
- 14:56the fucking recognizer and fly it to New York and you know
- 15:00there's it's flying around shooting out fucking drones.
- 15:02That's what happens. Do they really 3D print it?
- 15:05They yeah. So yeah.
- 15:07So I don't see. That shot in the trailer and I
- 15:09was like, how is that happening? At the very beginning of the
- 15:12movie, right? The plot of this is, it's dumb
- 15:15and it makes no fucking sense. But they tell you immediately
- 15:18that that's how it is. And it helped because it they
- 15:21said OK they can 3D print shit from inside the grid in the real
- 15:25world. And it exists 29 minutes.
- 15:28But it can only, it can only exist for 29 minutes.
- 15:30And everybody's trying to find this permanence code that for
- 15:36some reason Flynn invented in the 80s, which makes no fucking
- 15:41sense because before this was, how do you have even known they
- 15:44were going to try and do this, right?
- 15:46But but then they could, they didn't find it because it wasn't
- 15:49one line of code. It was 2 lines of code.
- 15:50OK, so there's two lines of code that make these things
- 15:54permanent. And you built these fucking
- 15:55printers and you're printing these and you couldn't figure
- 15:57out two lines of fucking code. To make Yeah.
- 16:01So honestly. Well go and look at the code and
- 16:03see what the 20 see where it says 20?
- 16:05No, just do a find and replace for 29 minutes.
- 16:08So I I spent 5 seconds trying to rationalize that and then my
- 16:14brain was like, I'm mad at it. And then from then on I was just
- 16:18like, just just enjoy the pretty pictures and the music.
- 16:20Yeah, because I mean, Tron one, Tron the movie, yes, right.
- 16:26A man is standing next to a video, you know, arcade machine,
- 16:31and then he's inside it. But he's inside, you know, a
- 16:34program. But he still looks and talks
- 16:36like himself, right? That's what I mean.
- 16:38It's ridiculous. It's no less ridiculous than
- 16:40that, by the sounds. Yeah, we're just used to it
- 16:44because that's established actually, I think.
- 16:46It is more ridiculous, actually. And in the 80s, when somebody
- 16:50said in the future you might get zapped up to computers, we were
- 16:53like, shit, OK, we better be careful in the future because we
- 16:56didn't know. I kept thinking, are they going
- 16:58to explain that, that somehow the technology to do this was
- 17:03invented by Flynn? But no, it's literally just the
- 17:05this permanence code. Yeah, that they keep mentioning
- 17:08is the thing that Flynn came up with.
- 17:10And it's like something he says because he didn't even invent
- 17:13the the the zappy into the computer stuff.
- 17:17No, he just made video. That was an accident, yeah.
- 17:20Like, so I was, Yeah. Anyway, my.
- 17:22My brain stopped worrying about it at that point and I just.
- 17:27Stopped thinking about stuff like that to enjoy something.
- 17:31It broadcast to me this movie doesn't make any sense.
- 17:35Don't worry about it like it's a fantasy movie.
- 17:38I think any movie that starts up with text on the screen before
- 17:41it begins. He's gonna wait.
- 17:43It's not text. They just tell.
- 17:44It's like it's exposition, but they like tell you because she's
- 17:47at because I don't think she's at this fucking Arctic backup of
- 17:50his server from the 80s. Like it's just like.
- 17:53Well, yeah, but yeah, because she's trying to track down her
- 17:56dead sister who had been trying to track down it's.
- 17:59So silly that it's just like, why are people mad at this?
- 18:02It doesn't make any sense to be mad at this.
- 18:04It's so stupid. Does it look as good as Tron
- 18:07Legacy? Because Tron Legacy looked
- 18:09fucking amazing. It's it's different because it's
- 18:12mostly not inside the computer in it's kind of almost the
- 18:17opposite. But the stuff that's in there
- 18:18looks good. There's that bit where they
- 18:20chase her and Aries on the jet ski thing and that level is all
- 18:24cool but. It's a bit more about just Aries
- 18:27just going, hey, I'm expendable, I don't want to be expendable.
- 18:33I know. And they have to tell you they
- 18:34don't trust the audience, right? Because there's that bit where
- 18:37he's trying to catch the, the main character for the for the
- 18:41bad guy and that, and then she realizes that he's going to
- 18:46disappear because it's been 29 minutes.
- 18:48And then she's like, oh, like you're a program and you're out
- 18:51in the real world and you're only going to survive for 29
- 18:53minutes. And then and then she's like,
- 18:55oh, and like anybody can tell she's feeling bad for him.
- 18:59But they have to show you his point of view.
- 19:00And it comes up empathetic response.
- 19:02Yeah, like on the. And it's like they just don't
- 19:04trust the audience to figure out that he's realizing, wait, she
- 19:08doesn't hate me? Kind of like, yeah.
- 19:12Oh, yeah. Nothing that really bothered.
- 19:13Memories when he comes back a second time.
- 19:16Or is it? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 19:18Until we think. He sort of doesn't survive in
- 19:20the real world, disappears, but then goes back to the computer
- 19:25world but remembers everything that's.
- 19:27Happening. He's on the network.
- 19:28He gets like zapped back into the grid, but yeah.
- 19:31OK, I guess you have to. But it's like I said, it's
- 19:33fantasy. They've they've literally just
- 19:35not worried about it. Yeah, not too much, you know
- 19:37what I mean? And the other thing that
- 19:39bothered me, this is a big thing that I was like, hang on a
- 19:42minute, you know? OK, so she gets the, she finds
- 19:45the permanence code. She comes back to New York.
- 19:48She's on her bike on the way back to the office, right With
- 19:51it on a USB stick. And as far as I recall, she's
- 19:54not aware that the Dillinger, the bad guy knows that she has
- 19:57it. She just sees suddenly the the
- 20:00Aries and Athena, because she's never seen before.
- 20:03There's two people on light cycles chasing her, which
- 20:07obviously would be distressing, but she doesn't know what's
- 20:09going on, right, as far as I can recall.
- 20:13Then a bunch of stuff happens. She ends up in the parking
- 20:16garage. Revs up the bike, throws the
- 20:20bike at Athena, one of them, and knocks her off 10 stories off
- 20:23the fucking parking garage right down to below and looks over and
- 20:26thinks she's dead. And then I was like, how does
- 20:29she know that they're programs? Like how does she know that
- 20:31that's what's happening? I'm like, oh, she must must have
- 20:34happened before. But no, because when Aries
- 20:36catches up to her she goes oh, you're a program.
- 20:40So she thought she was murdering a human like 5 minutes ago.
- 20:44And I was like, that's fucking weird.
- 20:48Well it the light cycles were destroying a lot of other cars
- 20:53as I was chasing. True, but she still didn't know
- 20:57they were programs. She said it, She said when she
- 21:01he walks up and she realizes, oh, you're a program, they've
- 21:06brought you out of the computer somehow.
- 21:08So she thought that was a person she was killing.
- 21:10Yes. I was like, that's weird.
- 21:14Anyway I got to say it. Stupid movie.
- 21:16I really want to say it, but I'm not going to go to the cinema.
- 21:18I could not possibly make that happen.
- 21:20But as soon as it comes in streaming.
- 21:23Soundtrack's fucking awesome. It's just great.
- 21:25Yeah, I'm good and it suits the movie, does it?
- 21:28Like it doesn't seem out of place.
- 21:30It's just good music for that movie.
- 21:32It's great, it's great. There's a bit, the big thing at
- 21:34the end where it's a bit where they like the, the flying,
- 21:39flying space paranoids or whatever they are that the
- 21:41flying Tron guys, the ships and they use the, the light beams to
- 21:46like cut the wings of the ship, the planes and stuff like that.
- 21:49It's fucking cool. It's with the yeah, the it's
- 21:53great. Nice.
- 21:55Just turn your brain off and enjoy.
- 21:59Yeah, yeah, of. Course, what do you expect?
- 22:04Although it does have a precedent because that's what
- 22:07happens at the end of Tron Legacy as well.
- 22:10Oh, OK, OK. And people were saying it's not
- 22:17connected to Legacy, but it is. I guess they didn't watch till
- 22:19the end. OK, yeah, I don't know.
- 22:26And presumably they would. They were planning on doing
- 22:28another one that would have characters from Legacy in.
- 22:30But now they won't do it because.
- 22:31Well, yeah, I mean, they can't do it with Jared Leto, that's
- 22:35for sure. This may become a cult classic.
- 22:38You never know. And could because I mean, who
- 22:41fucking knew there was going to be a Tron 230 years after Tron?
- 22:46I don't remember Tron legacy being as positively considered
- 22:52as it is now. I think people thought it was
- 22:55shit at the time. I fucking it's.
- 22:56Definitely the better movie though.
- 22:59Than than this, I have to rewatch it.
- 23:01I I mean, I think they're pretty similar.
- 23:03I don't know why I they, yeah, they just.
- 23:07Said to me, I. Just didn't try this was.
- 23:09Olivia Wilde, spandex and neon. And I was like, yeah, fine.
- 23:13That's all I've always been asking for.
- 23:17Yeah, this doesn't have that well.
- 23:18Maybe that's the only reason why I think it was better is just
- 23:21because of Olivia Wilde. It's very possible this doesn't
- 23:25have Michael Sheen in it either. Which is Oh yes.
- 23:27Michael Sheen It does have neon instead of was it Daft Punk?
- 23:31Yes, that was also a very good soundtrack.
- 23:34Yes, that was very fucking good and matched perfectly with the
- 23:37aesthetics of the of the film. It was.
- 23:40That oh, you say this. There's a lot of, I mean, this
- 23:42is not Jared Letto's fault, but the Aries has a lot of stupid
- 23:46reaction lines in it too. Like when he gets the old light
- 23:48cycle and he goes classic and I was like, don't do that.
- 23:53He's stupid. Just do himself, he says.
- 23:55That because. Because here's the thing Jared
- 23:57Letto has proved long, long ago. But he's a perfectly good actor,
- 24:01You know? He's fine, Yeah.
- 24:02His acting is not the problem. I don't know what the problem
- 24:06is. Maybe Which?
- 24:06Is now he's an asshole. When the camera stops rolling,
- 24:08that's the. Problem.
- 24:09Stay on script, stop adding your own stuff.
- 24:13You think, you think he added those bits?
- 24:15Yeah, and they were like, Jared, we're gonna have to cut around
- 24:18all of this. Stop saying words.
- 24:20Just stop just randomly saying words.
- 24:22Well, I saw someone said that he basically paid for this movie
- 24:25and I was like, well that explains why he's in it.
- 24:29Wonder if he's seen it though. Is that a thing?
- 24:33Does he not see his movies? I've heard him.
- 24:36Some actors don't. Yeah, yeah, I've heard that he
- 24:39didn't go and see Suicide Squad and things like that, that.
- 24:43Go on. Yeah, don't blame him.
- 24:45Didn't I saw it? Yeah, OK.
- 24:49I remember when Ricky Gervais called out Johnny Depp because
- 24:52he made a joke. Oh, yeah, it was Oscars or
- 24:53Golden Globes made a joke about the tourists and everyone was
- 24:56like 00. And he's like, well, let me see
- 24:58anyone here watch it? Johnny Depp, did you watch it?
- 25:01And Johnny's like, no, yeah, I did watch it, and I didn't think
- 25:06it was that bad, actually. Really.
- 25:09Tourists. Yeah.
- 25:10The tourists. I've heard of it.
- 25:11Perfectly fine comedy, action movie?
- 25:13Yeah, whatever. A movie that I know you like.
- 25:20Luke Airplane AKA Flying High. Right.
- 25:25Classic, classic movie. I found out a fact about this
- 25:29week and it led me to do a little digging and I
- 25:32subsequently found facts about Police Squad, which we talked
- 25:35about last week, which is the same writers and directors as
- 25:39Flying High. The two guys, was it Zucker,
- 25:45David Zucker and Abrams. Zucker and Abrams, right, were
- 25:51at home watching an old movie called Zero Hour, right?
- 26:02It's called 0 Hour about an airport with stuff going on on a
- 26:07plane, and because they're just funny guys, they were just
- 26:10making fun of the movie as they went on it.
- 26:12Right. Just.
- 26:12We're out the same way we would have done if we had watched a
- 26:16movie together. You know, like added funny lines
- 26:18to the existing movie. Except that because these guys
- 26:21are Hollywood screenwriters and we're not, at some point one of
- 26:24them said this should be a thing.
- 26:26And Airplane is 0 hour word for word, almost shot for shot in
- 26:33many ways with jokes at it, right?
- 26:37And they got into a little bit of trouble at the time, even
- 26:40though they were perfectly upfront about it.
- 26:42But they did. They didn't seek rights or
- 26:45anything. I believe they just, but they
- 26:47credited, they were like, yeah, this is zero with jokes in it.
- 26:51The same thing happened with Police squad.
- 26:53Police Squad plots are exact storylines from old episodes of
- 26:59a show called M Squad, which was a cop show from the 60s.
- 27:03And the same thing. They would just watch these,
- 27:05write down the plots, and then just add jokes, Print.
- 27:10There you go, There's your show. Isn't that incredible?
- 27:13Yeah, I think just find this most serious thing we can and
- 27:17just add jokes too. Interesting thing I know about
- 27:19Flying High Airport is the guy who made Caddyshack was very
- 27:23upset about it because he thought that film was funnier
- 27:26than Caddyshack. It was.
- 27:30I'll stand by that. Yeah, 100%.
- 27:33They're both funny, but. Yeah, they're funny for a
- 27:36different reason, even though they, I don't know, you could
- 27:38probably class them in the same category, but.
- 27:41I don't know. That I never found.
- 27:43Caddyshacks find them the same. They're different movies to me.
- 27:45Like I know they are different, but they're different.
- 27:48Yeah, styles. Yeah, agreed, Agreed.
- 27:52Just. Remember that I watched the
- 27:53movie last. Time.
- 27:54I still love the movie. Maybe I've got to watch
- 27:56Caddyshack again, it's been a while.
- 27:58Oh it's been fucking ages since I watched Caddyshack.
- 28:00God. I'm sure there's some kind of
- 28:02comedy rape in it that makes it like hard to watch these days.
- 28:06From the era, all of those 80s, I.
- 28:07Don't think there was rape but there was a part where she got
- 28:11pregnant OK? How did she get pregnant?
- 28:14To a Gopher. To to to a Gopher.
- 28:19No, it's one of the caddies. But then she was very happy when
- 28:22she wasn't pregnant, but while, while while she was pregnant.
- 28:27And he knew he was off screen. Some rich bird.
- 28:31Oh. OK, yeah, OK.
- 28:33Bad behaviour was just a thing in the 80s, wasn't?
- 28:35It oh, it's funny. It's hilarious.
- 28:36Especially, especially if you were Chevy Chase.
- 28:39Yeah, yeah, he was an absolute Dick.
- 28:42Yeah. Or in I.
- 28:43Don't think I've you know if you.
- 28:44Were I think if you were a single person for example.
- 28:47Yeah, Chris worked with him. That has gone.
- 28:49Everybody hates him, everybody hates him.
- 28:54And you can actually sort of see it in the movies you watch now.
- 28:56You can sort of, you can sort of see how, yeah, you can see how
- 28:59you're being a bit of a Dick. And you'll probably continuing
- 29:01that off camera. Him and Bill Murray got into a
- 29:05legitimate fistfight before the cameras rolled, like, on
- 29:09Saturday night. And live once.
- 29:10Like, really? Like, I don't know if the show
- 29:13was late or they had to cut to something else, but they were
- 29:14like, no, that Bill and Sheffey are literally punishing each
- 29:17other. Yeah, they hate each other.
- 29:23Sounds like a no. Yeah.
- 29:25But even like in new stuff he was in like community and stuff.
- 29:28Yes everyone hated him on that human dumb.
- 29:32Oh, who was it? My mate Joel McHale.
- 29:34Joel McHale. Joel McHale?
- 29:37Yeah, he got into fist fights with him or not.
- 29:39Yeah, quite fist fights with actual fights.
- 29:42If you're going through your career and people are always
- 29:44trying to bash you, maybe you're a cunt, you know?
- 29:47No, but some people would be like, yeah, it just goes to show
- 29:50I'm right. Yeah, yeah.
- 29:55I'd fight him. All right, let's make it happen.
- 29:59Is he? Yeah, I'd stick around for that.
- 30:00Is he still sure? Yeah, it's a lot so.
- 30:03I don't know if he's working, I don't know if anyone had worked
- 30:05with him at this point, which is a shame because I'm hanging out
- 30:09for four amigos, you know? 3 Amigos 2. 4 amigos.
- 30:15Well I mean half of last like sorry 2/3 of the the team are
- 30:18still doing stuff. Still hanging out together,
- 30:21yeah. I reckon he would be able to get
- 30:24work so if he wanted because he he's still got a big name.
- 30:28That's a good point though, Matt.
- 30:31The fact that two out of the three amigos have a show that's
- 30:34full of celebrity guest stars and he's not one of the last
- 30:38cherry. Chase to be on the show.
- 30:39Yes, I've been watching actually like a couple episodes into the
- 30:43most recent seasons. Oh yeah.
- 30:44Is it all out? I missed it a bit.
- 30:46Yeah, it must be by now. Yeah, I want to wait.
- 30:49It's very good still it's and they, I mean they acknowledge
- 30:52the fact that it's fucking ridiculous at this point.
- 30:55Like this is the. Fear and not the.
- 30:56Murder in the in the building, but like, whatever.
- 31:00Yeah, yeah. Yeah, at one point they, you see
- 31:03conversation where somebody's like, it's, you know, the
- 31:06doorman and he's like less than the doorman and his wife's like,
- 31:09it's just one murder. It's like a time lapse.
- 31:11She has just one, one murder over 30 years.
- 31:14You know, it's not your fault. Less there.
- 31:15And then it cuts it and she's like 4 murders.
- 31:19Maybe you need some help? I need to go back to watching
- 31:25that it's. A good show?
- 31:27Yeah, it is a good show. I watched I forgot actually,
- 31:32that just to put it in here last night I watched a movie because
- 31:37it's Halloween coming up. So I thought, why not revisit a
- 31:4190s classic by. Watching You watched the new
- 31:44original? No, no, yeah.
- 31:46Yeah, OK. I watched I Know What You Did
- 31:48Last summer, the new one. Has anybody else seen this?
- 31:51No, I have seen that it was Oh. You've seen it.
- 31:54Yep, and. Luke sees everything now.
- 31:57Yeah. What do you think?
- 32:00I thought it was very obvious who who the killer was at the
- 32:06from the very start. I agree, yes.
- 32:09Well, yes. Oh yes.
- 32:11And then there's like kind of A twist.
- 32:12And I was like, don't let that be the twist.
- 32:15And it was because and then so I don't want to, I don't want to
- 32:20spoil it. Should we just does it matter?
- 32:21Oh. I don't.
- 32:22When did this come out? Months ago.
- 32:25Don't even keep me up, yeah. Yeah, months ago, it's on
- 32:28streaming now all. Right, so slight.
- 32:31OK, so big spoilers I guess for who gives a shit?
- 32:34So stupid. So guess who's the the other
- 32:38killer then? You'll never guess.
- 32:39Oh. God fucking it's.
- 32:41Freddie Prince. Junior.
- 32:42Yeah, of course. Yeah, right.
- 32:43OK. And I was, and then because
- 32:46Jennifer Love Hewitt's in this show, Michelle Gell is in it in
- 32:48like a dream sequence because her character's obviously dead,
- 32:50but the Freddie Prince Junior's revealed to be kind of the the
- 32:56the accomplice, I guess. Because I was like, there's no
- 32:59way that girl did all that. Stuff makes sense why he did it
- 33:04because. At first my brain was like, how
- 33:07dare they Sully the the this character?
- 33:10And then I was like, it's fucking I know what you'd last
- 33:12summer, this trashy movie from the 90s.
- 33:13Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, yeah.
- 33:15I was like. We love it.
- 33:16Don't even go there. Any right to be loved.
- 33:18Yeah, I was. Like don't even go there, that's
- 33:21a shit. Yeah, they they, they
- 33:23accidentally kill someone, they go to hide it and then free
- 33:26Preacher is upset that his sort of protege is involved in this.
- 33:31He. Promised her daddy look after
- 33:32her. Yeah.
- 33:34And then he says, I know how to get back at your friends.
- 33:37Yeah. Because this happened to me once
- 33:39in the 90s. Yeah.
- 33:41So we're going to do it to them. Yeah.
- 33:45And the hero of the 1st 2 fucking movies is that.
- 33:49And I was like, yeah, again. And my brain was like, just
- 33:51don't. But The thing is, it set itself
- 33:53up for more movies. Here's.
- 33:55What I don't get, though, here's what I don't get.
- 33:58This is called I Know What You Did Last Summer, but it's a
- 34:01sequel to the movie I I Know What You Did Last Summer.
- 34:04And yes, like what? What is that trend?
- 34:06What is this trend of not renaming?
- 34:08It's like, well, technically it's a sequel to I Still Know
- 34:10What You Did Last Summer, Yes. So yeah, so call it.
- 34:13I like even now my. Very continuous, no way of the
- 34:18thing that you did. Yeah. 30 years ago.
- 34:22But there's a couple of that have done this now.
- 34:26Scream. Scream.
- 34:28Oh yeah, they just. Yeah.
- 34:29Yeah. How are you supposed to know
- 34:31which ones? How do we go to from Scream 6 to
- 34:34just scream? Yeah.
- 34:36Because what's the next one? Going to be scream to stop.
- 34:39Well, I think because they realized, and this is probably
- 34:41true, that if you take the number off, people think it's a
- 34:43reboot and though and you'll get you'll just it's like the net
- 34:47just catches people that wouldn't have caught otherwise
- 34:49and they don't give a shit. So.
- 34:51OK, Fair enough. Fair enough.
- 34:52I'm sure that's probably all it is.
- 34:54I don't know if the film makers are like, you know what'll be a
- 34:57brilliant idea? I think it's marketing probably.
- 35:01Yeah, I'm sure you're. Right.
- 35:02Well, while this movie has set itself up for a sequel, I don't
- 35:06know who'll be seeing what. I would be very surprised after.
- 35:10I mean, this was very bad. It was very bad.
- 35:13It was very like, it was fun. I don't regret watching it, but
- 35:18it was fucking stupid. How big a role has Jennifer Love
- 35:22Hewitt got in it? Pretty big, pretty big.
- 35:25Yeah, yeah, yeah. Both of them.
- 35:28I like main characters. And then, yeah, Sarah Michelle
- 35:31Gellar pops up, you know? But it's mostly about kids,
- 35:34right? Like kids the same age as the
- 35:36kids, yeah. Oh yeah, Yeah, they Yeah,
- 35:37exactly. In fact, there's a literally a
- 35:38scene where where fried Prince Judy.
- 35:42Like earlier. On they go to him for help and
- 35:44he walks out and they go oh, something we did something last
- 35:46summer and it's like all these kids staying there it just looks
- 35:49like and he you can see he goes oh fuck, like, yeah, yeah, well,
- 35:54actually he doesn't because he already knows but.
- 35:58Yeah, yeah, yeah. But you, you weren't meant to
- 36:00know that, man. Exactly.
- 36:04But it was very obvious. Yeah, yeah.
- 36:06Sometimes characters are talking to other characters, and
- 36:08sometimes they're talking to the audience.
- 36:11Right. Yeah, especially that's bad.
- 36:16No, go on. There's a there's a bit where
- 36:19the the there's a bit on the boat where he's like supposed to
- 36:23the it's set up like he's helping them and he's like
- 36:26shooting the the killer, but it's like he's a baby.
- 36:29So strangely that I was like, Nah, something's going on.
- 36:35It's very I. Felt that way about Knives Out.
- 36:40Oh yeah. I thought the first one, yeah,
- 36:43the first one, I thought, I know who this is and they're being
- 36:49very clear about it. So I'm assuming there's going to
- 36:52be a twist and they're going to invert my expectations, Ryan
- 36:55Johnson style. And the twist was, no, we're
- 37:00just going to treat the person that we set it up being the
- 37:03killer is the killer surprise. And I was like, oh, what A
- 37:09twist. Wow.
- 37:11I know I've seen that. I don't remember trying.
- 37:14Can you really watch this? There's a new one coming out.
- 37:17Yeah, I thought the second one, the second one was better than
- 37:20the first one. So if this one's better than
- 37:21that one, you're fine. I'll watch it.
- 37:24Yeah, better than. Making DEM because you're not
- 37:26making another Star Wars. I'm not sure anybody's making
- 37:30another Star Wars at this point. Oh man, I don't think so.
- 37:33I still don't think I'm not. Getting that 4 billion worth,
- 37:35are they Jesus? We're getting a Mandalorian
- 37:38Grogu movie which. I don't think I forgot about
- 37:40that. Worst idea ever.
- 37:43I I literally forgot about it until you said that and the
- 37:45trailer was like last. Week Surely that's just going to
- 37:47be on Disney Plus, though there's no there's no way that's
- 37:50going to have a. Similar at this point, yeah.
- 37:53Yeah, because all the discussions.
- 37:54Might be the first it. Just looks Star Wars episode of
- 37:57the show. Yeah, you know, this might
- 38:00actually be the first Star Wars. Movie.
- 38:03Maybe we're just old. Maybe people will eat this shit
- 38:06up. Yeah, maybe.
- 38:07Maybe, but I think they could have just made another another
- 38:10series instead of a movie. Just I should have.
- 38:16I should have stopped after the first series.
- 38:17But being in charge, I can save Star Wars.
- 38:20I'm just going to retcon some stuff.
- 38:23Yeah. Caravan of Courage too.
- 38:27There's already a. Caravanner of Courage.
- 38:29Yeah, more. More.
- 38:31Longer caravan, more courage, bigger battle.
- 38:36To scalar and to. Courage.
- 38:40A good day in a caravan to courage.
- 38:48Courage free or caravan hard? Have either of you shown your
- 38:54daughter's Caravan of Courage yet?
- 38:56No, no, but I did show her all the Ewok scenes from Jedi.
- 39:01Oh, do what we watched the other day.
- 39:04I didn't want to show her the bits where fucking Luke's just
- 39:06fucking bashing his dad with that fucking thing.
- 39:09Yeah, Oh yeah. And the other one's going yes,
- 39:11yes, yes. Because I didn't want to show
- 39:13her the whole movie, but I just showed that.
- 39:15Thankfully somebody's just made a mash up of just all the Ewok
- 39:18stuff on. YouTube I told you this was a
- 39:20while ago where I showed her she wanted to he has to be a light
- 39:23Saber or I think I had a T-shirt on or something like that.
- 39:25And I I put on the Empire Strikes Back fight in the in the
- 39:29carbon freezing chamber just for a bit.
- 39:31And I said anyway I would turn off and she said no no I want to
- 39:33watch until he beats the bad guy.
- 39:35And I was like, oh fuck. Sorry I.
- 39:39Was like Oh no we'll watch it another time 2.
- 39:41Movies later. We watched the other day.
- 39:43She's got, you know what Tony boxes, Tony box.
- 39:47It's like a little. Thing.
- 39:50Yes, correct. And it's got the put the figures
- 39:52on top and they have stories like in little memory cards in
- 39:55them, I guess, and it plays stuff.
- 39:56So she swaps them out. Whatever.
- 39:57She's got a Halloween one and one of the songs is Ghostbusters
- 40:01on there and then so that was on and she was like, what's a
- 40:04Ghostbuster? And I said I'll show you.
- 40:06So I showed her just the clip of them catching Slimer and that
- 40:10she fucking loved it. Oh, cool, yeah.
- 40:13Man, that's getting revival. There's a new Real Ghostbusters
- 40:16cartoon coming, is there? And they're redoing the toy line
- 40:21and everything. Yeah, right.
- 40:23Man, I'm glad that people outrage are in charge of shit
- 40:25now. You know they've been holding on
- 40:28to this for fucking years. Yeah.
- 40:31We're getting it all, I've actually.
- 40:32Seen the new style? Not new styles.
- 40:34The new Ghostbusters yet. Frozen something?
- 40:37Oh, no, I didn't see either of them because actually the first
- 40:39one was already in it. Yeah, right.
- 40:42You. Haven't watched either of the
- 40:43new ones, I should watch them I guess.
- 40:45You know what I put on the other day or the other night and then
- 40:49immediately turned off and I'm going to give it another try.
- 40:53I put on the Toxic Avenger, the new 10, the new one because I
- 40:59was like, what's what's this going to be like?
- 41:01And I, I popped it on and then it wasn't anything specific, but
- 41:05just the, the first, like one minute I was like, I've got to
- 41:08be really in the mood for this. Yeah, yeah, sure.
- 41:11You know, like probably drunk and.
- 41:14Is it? Is it tonally like the original?
- 41:19Because the Troma films are very specific in tone.
- 41:22It like so far it is. I mean and OK, granted I've only
- 41:26seen one minute, but I was. Expecting surprising that it got
- 41:29any polished wide release at all.
- 41:31To be honest, I'm I'm not, so I'm not.
- 41:32Surprised that it got you in it. Yeah, that's what I mean.
- 41:35It's it's like get a little confusing how this happened.
- 41:38I'm going to go. Back.
- 41:39Not that there's anything wrong with the tremor stuff, but it's
- 41:41just a very specific thing that is.
- 41:43But I also realized that I'm not 20 anymore too, you know, so.
- 41:47Like, I don't think you're going to see as much blood and gore.
- 41:49Well. I'll report back.
- 41:51Let's let me see, yeah? Because we did a three actually
- 41:55cool release of that. I mean, yeah, I mean, it's not
- 42:01technically out yet, so they could still do anything.
- 42:03Anything could happen, right? I thought it would come out in
- 42:05movies. I don't think so.
- 42:08I thought it came out in America.
- 42:10I didn't think. No, I think it's, you know,
- 42:12Toxic Avenger, release August 29th.
- 42:20OK, Yeah, you're right. Yeah.
- 42:23Oh, but only it's just like a couple of months ago, OK.
- 42:29There you go. You guys want to talk about, did
- 42:33you guys see this Twitchcon stuff?
- 42:37I don't know the story I saw that it happened but.
- 42:39Why don't you fill us in? It's pretty messed.
- 42:42Up. Yeah, pretty.
- 42:43Crazy. So there's a.
- 42:45Very well known streamer Emiru who there's a video, you can
- 42:51watch a video of it happening because someone just happened to
- 42:53be filming, which is kind of lucky for her because it kind of
- 42:57proved the issue, Yeah. So basically what happened is
- 43:01Twitchcon was on, she appeared there as one of the guests and
- 43:05as part of the deal they had to do a meet and greet that like
- 43:08she was required to do it. Oh, because that's how they're
- 43:12really going to sell their. Tickets, yeah.
- 43:15So basically this now. They've they've got a bunch of
- 43:17security guards. That's that's.
- 43:21Not a security guard, that's her.
- 43:23Personal. She had to hire her own.
- 43:26Yeah. So that's part of the problem
- 43:27here. Really, Guy?
- 43:29She's hired to look. After her Class A bit too far
- 43:32away banned from Twitchcon. Yeah.
- 43:35Because it happened Because he. Held another stalker until the
- 43:38police got there. And so they've banned.
- 43:40They've said he's can't come here because of his, because of
- 43:43the fact that he has a fucking stalker.
- 43:45Stalker, Yeah. It's it's all very weird.
- 43:47Enough said. So anyway, yeah, so they've got
- 43:49him like in these little cordoned off areas doing these
- 43:52meet and greets. And then some guy just wanders
- 43:55in like through, through and across other meet and greets,
- 43:58right. Security doesn't stop.
- 43:59This person walks up to her, just grabs her by the face and
- 44:03tries to kiss her. And so she screams.
- 44:06And then as you said, her security, this guy that manages
- 44:10to get in there and he's fucking remove this guy from her.
- 44:13And then he's just, he's just able to walk off, walk off and
- 44:17like no one does anything and. Then she.
- 44:18Said work for the venue. No, no, but.
- 44:22He just twitched on security didn't do anything.
- 44:24And then they they, so they took her, her manager and her
- 44:27security took her out the back and like to, to, to you were
- 44:30right. She's like, oh, not really.
- 44:31They took a minute to calm down or whatever.
- 44:33And then she said she thought when they went back out there,
- 44:35it's probably going to be a big fuss has happened because of
- 44:37this. They come back out.
- 44:39Nothing's everyone's just still standing there.
- 44:42And then the guy she was she was with a fan doing a photo thing
- 44:46when it happened. He's just still standing there
- 44:49because no one's just, no one's done anything.
- 44:51And he's looking at it like, I mean, from his point of view, he
- 44:53probably. Fucking doesn't know what's
- 44:54happening. No.
- 44:55Well, she said she came back over and he said.
- 44:57He goes, oh, I'm so sorry that happened.
- 44:59Are you all right? Yeah.
- 45:00And then. And she was like, yeah, where's
- 45:01fucking security? Yeah.
- 45:03And then, yeah, no one did anything.
- 45:06And then when they told the security guards, apparently they
- 45:08thought it was funny. Jesus.
- 45:11And it's like. What the fuck when she was?
- 45:13Talking to them after to twitch. People to get oh we've banned
- 45:17him off Twitch for 30 days. Oh good, that'll teach him.
- 45:21So they did. Find him they.
- 45:23Yeah, they found him, knew who he was.
- 45:26And Twitch just sort of went, you're, you're the best.
- 45:28You can't. I mean, it didn't look like he's
- 45:30not trying to hide himself. He's just walks up to us.
- 45:32That's right, Yeah. And then he just walks.
- 45:34He's got a name tag on. Like he's where they.
- 45:36Land you Yeah, I know. So wild.
- 45:40And then. Yeah, so she did a live stream
- 45:45like yesterday, I think it. Was just saying.
- 45:48You know, obviously she's very concerned about how this was
- 45:51able to happen. She's like she said, she's fine.
- 45:55Like unfortunately this kind of stuff happens to her.
- 45:58And yeah, I'm very disappointed in Twitch crime, to be honest.
- 46:01It's sort of the second time it's happened to her there.
- 46:04I love this. I love.
- 46:06This comment she's like I plan to press charges as a bare
- 46:09minimum. Sorry, what else?
- 46:12Yeah. Yeah, that's pretty much the
- 46:15extent of what you could do. Darling, I'll say.
- 46:17But The thing is, too, she's. Like, I don't know.
- 46:19How old was she? Oh, she's 27.
- 46:21And if you watch her videos, I mean, she is not a lawyer or
- 46:24anything. She's just some some girl who's
- 46:26locked into. She's just happens to be
- 46:28attractive and she does Twitch stuff.
- 46:30So we're like, yeah, it's just very, she just got very lucky.
- 46:34Yeah, she just, she doesn't know what she's talking about in that
- 46:37regard. She's just going to do what I
- 46:38can. I'm not really having a go.
- 46:40At her, I'm just no, no, no. She probably means she's going
- 46:43to sue. Somebody.
- 46:44But it just sounds like she was like she's just saying I'll
- 46:46press John's good and I'll also punch him.
- 46:47In the face. Yes, but I don't.
- 46:50Know what it means for. Twitchcon because it's not the
- 46:53first time they've had issues other no upstream she's I mean
- 46:57and she's telling people don't go.
- 46:59I've got to say, people are going to know about this saying
- 47:01like they've. Had concerns.
- 47:03With bad security Before in the past, before in the past or was
- 47:07that something? Else I don't remember that, but
- 47:11I mean. Not that's mean it didn't
- 47:12happen, but. But like, she was one of the
- 47:17biggest extremists there. Yeah.
- 47:20Think about what would be happening to some of the smaller
- 47:22ones who would not be able to hide their own security.
- 47:26Yeah, well, that's what. I think she said that she's
- 47:29like, this could have happened to anyone and maybe this has
- 47:31happened to somebody and just nobody knows about it because
- 47:33security didn't do anything when it when it happened to me.
- 47:36She's like, I'm well known. She's one of the biggest stars
- 47:39there and the security didn't do anything.
- 47:43So imagine if. You were just some little.
- 47:45Stranger is it? Is it bit like what we've got
- 47:48like a pax? Australia, we don't so much have
- 47:50security as we have enforcers. We should just, yeah, people who
- 47:53volunteer, I mean, that could be it.
- 47:57I mean the venue for PAX. The venue itself has some
- 48:00security. Good.
- 48:01I did have some security but that was just.
- 48:03People going in and out, Yeah, yeah.
- 48:06Oh yeah. Like TSA they banned him from.
- 48:09Twitch. For 30 days and he was like, no.
- 48:13And so they're like, OK, we'll ban him from.
- 48:15Twitch for life. And just like, yeah, we'll ban
- 48:17him from the stuff from the events as well.
- 48:19Yeah, like you fucking idiot. Like.
- 48:25Like how that's the price of 30 days be?
- 48:27Forcefully kissing somebody? Yeah.
- 48:31Going for a grope. Going for a kiss without
- 48:33consent? Get a bit of a push then.
- 48:36Strange. Walk away.
- 48:38And get banned for 30 days so you have to go on just to.
- 48:43Correct myself from before I found the stabbing, I was
- 48:46talking about it but it wasn't at switch con.
- 48:48It was just somebody was stabbed to death while live streaming on
- 48:51twitch. Oh God.
- 48:56Good times that happens. More on Kick These.
- 48:59Days What is kick? The San Diego Police Department
- 49:03confirmed. On Friday.
- 49:04Afternoon, a man was reported grabbing a woman's shoulders and
- 49:07attempting to kiss her during a meet and greet at Twitch Con.
- 49:10That's all the San Diego police have confirmed at this point.
- 49:12It's like, yeah, we know that. We've got.
- 49:13There's a video of it. Yeah.
- 49:15Like, I've watched it happen. Yeah, yeah.
- 49:17Yeah, but yeah, he's not going to go to jail.
- 49:20He. He'll at most get a slap on the
- 49:22wrist. No, I mean, I'm not.
- 49:24I don't know if he should. Go to jail.
- 49:25But like, come on. Like that's illegal.
- 49:27That's like, that's assault. That's sexual assault.
- 49:28You can't grab women and fucking kiss.
- 49:31Them. No.
- 49:32No, you're not James Bond. You're not Sean Connery and it's
- 49:35not a not a medical spa. Yeah, yeah.
- 49:39But I just. Can't control myself.
- 49:41It's. Just this thing where these.
- 49:43People just feel that they have these relationships with these
- 49:46streamers. Yeah, yeah.
- 49:49But then. Does he?
- 49:50Because I mean. His behaviour in the video is
- 49:52quite strange because he does it and then he just walks off like
- 49:55like, well, he did get a bit of a big push from security.
- 49:58Well, true, yeah, I guess, but. He's.
- 50:01Not he doesn't like run away or anything.
- 50:03Yeah, right. He's not trying to fight.
- 50:05The guy he's not trying to like, it seems pretty casual in a
- 50:07really bizarre and and horrifying way.
- 50:10It's very odd. Yeah, Yeah, like you could.
- 50:16I'm not saying I'd understand why he did it, but like saying
- 50:19she wanted it, no. I'm saying if.
- 50:22He creeped in like hidden a bit. Oh yeah, ran up, tried to do it,
- 50:27then ran off. You could at least say, OK, well
- 50:29you knew it was wrong and he was trying to get away with it,
- 50:31right? Like he walked up with.
- 50:33Confidence. Yeah, that's her thing too,
- 50:35because she said people. Were like, oh, why did you?
- 50:38Why didn't you just like run away or whatever?
- 50:40And she said because I didn't know who he was.
- 50:42He walked past security. He came up, he had a he did have
- 50:45it landed on. She was talking to someone at
- 50:47the time, yeah. And she said she thought, oh, is
- 50:49this twitch? Stuff going to tell me something
- 50:51and when even when he lent in grabbed her and lent in, she
- 50:54said she thought, oh, he's going to whisper something to me like
- 50:57maybe there's some kind of issue.
- 50:59And then and then it wasn't literally until he was like
- 51:01right there she was like, oh, this fuck is trying to kiss me.
- 51:03And then and then panicked. Jesus.
- 51:07Yeah, because she was like he must.
- 51:08Belong here or. How did he even get here?
- 51:10Kind of thing, No. Yeah.
- 51:11Because no one stopped him. No one questioned.
- 51:14Him walk past two barriers, everyone.
- 51:17Yep. Yeah, this is very strange.
- 51:20Not. Good.
- 51:20This is not good anyway. Speaking don't do that.
- 51:26People don't do that, no. Speaking of bullies, I've been
- 51:29playing. Something this week?
- 51:31Been playing an Xbox 360 game because that's where the sweet
- 51:35spot is gentlemen, it's the Xbox 36.
- 51:37That's where we peaked right? This is the.
- 51:40This is the. It's. 3:00 AM.
- 51:42We're very drunk and Luke just wants to play a game at our
- 51:46house. It's Bully, yeah.
- 51:50And I got. You past that level.
- 51:54I had forgotten that achievement.
- 51:56For playing that stupid. Arcade game.
- 51:58That's fucking arcade game. I'd forgotten how.
- 52:00Tedious the mini games in this and not just the arcade game
- 52:05mini games, but even just the classes you go to some of them
- 52:08are easy music class hitting the drum in time.
- 52:10Fine, I can do that. But like, it's the timer that
- 52:13gets you like having to fucking remove every organ from that
- 52:16frog. And it's like, this is not good
- 52:19controls, guys. I cannot do this in under a
- 52:22minute. But I like the game and.
- 52:25Actually, I'm playing on my absolute and it the seven inch
- 52:31screen is a perfect size for an Xbox 360 game.
- 52:35You know what I mean? Because it looks good takes.
- 52:37Away. Yeah, I mean, it's still.
- 52:40Low Poly, but from what you're used to.
- 52:43But you know, I think if I was playing this up on my TV, I'd be
- 52:47like, oh, but here it's fine. I have.
- 52:51An unboxing. I'll be back.
- 52:53Oh, OK. Yeah, I'll just mention.
- 52:55Briefly on that note. I was.
- 52:57I've been playing the Silent Hill Two remake.
- 53:00Did I mention this on the show? Anyway, I can hear you.
- 53:03Yeah, I. Do want to play?
- 53:04In fact, you've. Got a mic, Luke?
- 53:05You could just still just be on the show.
- 53:07Yeah, you're just still talking. So.
- 53:10I've been playing the remake. And I was playing.
- 53:12It and I was like, is how different is this to the old
- 53:16one? Because, you know, your brain
- 53:17does a lot of works. So I looked up a YouTube video
- 53:20with a side by side and I was like, Oh my God, yeah.
- 53:23It's like like the PS2 games look pretty good, but yeah,
- 53:27yeah, it's just yeah. Oh yeah.
- 53:30You forget though. You.
- 53:30Forget how, but like I said, yeah, I was like, oh, this is
- 53:33just how I remember. It.
- 53:34No, no, no. Yeah, it's not.
- 53:36I went back to. Play the first hitman at one
- 53:38point, because I I'd gotten really into hitman.
- 53:40I was like, oh, this is this is hard to no, this is not, this is
- 53:44not right. You know what?
- 53:47I remember I had it on PCI, think the original hitman.
- 53:50Did you wow back in the day been to PC games?
- 53:55Vampire masquerade bloodlines 2 not Oh yes, reviewed very well.
- 54:00Everyone's saying, oh, isn't it pretty mediocre, which is a
- 54:03shame. Yeah, I saw that just came out
- 54:06and. I've been thinking about it and
- 54:07then I went no, I've. Got other games to play?
- 54:10I love vampire games. I loved the first.
- 54:12Yeah, I loved. That redemption was amazing now,
- 54:16clunky as hell, poor controls, and I'm sure if we'd tried to
- 54:21play it now, you'd have that same, that same.
- 54:23Yeah. So it was a PlayStation Two era,
- 54:27but yeah, love that shit. The music in that is amazing,
- 54:33Yes, Yeah. Love him.
- 54:37Luke's unboxing something. It's a Dick in the box.
- 54:42Oh, it is. Is it a miniature?
- 54:44Xbox it is. An Xbox that's an.
- 54:48An Xbox. It is an Xbox the case for the
- 54:51Xbox. Oh, so you haven't got the unit
- 54:57you've. Got the case.
- 54:59No, this this arrived. Today the case doesn't.
- 55:02The actual unit doesn't arrive till next week.
- 55:05I can mean get the case ready to go.
- 55:07Yes, just both at the same. Time, but it's is it a third
- 55:13party? Case or is it no, it's a
- 55:16legitimate. Case.
- 55:17Yeah, OK, funny. Do you guys see a 1200 the Amiga
- 55:24retro machine? Oh, I did see that.
- 55:26Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I did see that.
- 55:29The problem is they did the A500 Mini two years ago.
- 55:37I bought that. I don't need to buy this.
- 55:40It's probably got the same hardware in it.
- 55:43The only thing? Yeah, mine's up.
- 55:45There. I I would have preferred this,
- 55:50but you put something out first and I paid 200 and something
- 55:53bucks for it. I'm not gonna buy it again.
- 55:56How much is this one? How much do they want for this?
- 55:58It's. About 189.
- 56:00USD. Oh, that's all.
- 56:02That's all right, to be honest. Yeah, I mean, it's OK, right?
- 56:05But. Well, that's gonna be like
- 56:08almost, you know, there's gonna be 3 or 400 here.
- 56:10Yeah, I can't. I don't have that to drop on a
- 56:12on a. On.
- 56:13An emulator I spent on this. Yeah, but you can play real.
- 56:17Games on that. Everything on this desk I can
- 56:20play Omega games on right? You know, like it's not they can
- 56:23play a game Omega games on this little.
- 56:25Guy, yes, exactly. And I.
- 56:28You can you can boot into workbench in on this, which is
- 56:32good. And I heard Oh yeah, because
- 56:33somebody hacked the 500 mini so that you could and evidently
- 56:38they got him to come and program for this.
- 56:42So that's great. I liked that proven as well.
- 56:46Sometimes that way, other times they get sued.
- 56:49Yeah, yes, it was Nintendo. Yeah, but these guys aren't.
- 56:53These guys aren't Amiga, you know what I mean?
- 56:55Certainly. Yeah, this is a third party
- 56:58anyway. Who's Amiga now?
- 56:59It's not Commodore because. Some no, no, no, no and somebody
- 57:02owns the. Word, Amiga and somebody else.
- 57:05Yeah, it's probably right to the hardware and it's not the same
- 57:07person. Yeah, because people were just
- 57:09waiting to parapractic to the Amiga.
- 57:10And he said I can't, no, what's that?
- 57:14Someone just brought Commodore. Didn't they?
- 57:16Yeah. Peripractic.
- 57:17Yes, yeah, yeah. Christian.
- 57:19What's his surname? It's great.
- 57:20It's. Like every single name.
- 57:22Hardware, they can do whatever they want.
- 57:25Yes. Yeah, he went well, not
- 57:26literally. Everything right, But he did go
- 57:28around trying to scoop up as many little bits as he as he
- 57:31could. Yeah, amazing, to be honest.
- 57:34Yeah. Oh, he fucking wanted it.
- 57:36Well, he's also. The editor of of ZAP magazine,
- 57:39ZAP 64 and Amiga ZAP. Like he's, he's a fucking
- 57:42enthusiast. Yeah, well, it's really good.
- 57:45He's. Golf.
- 57:49Gog. Evidently, you know how they're
- 57:50trying to like, get old games and make sure people can still
- 57:54play them and everything. They've had the higher Pis to go
- 57:57and find some people who own the licenses.
- 58:00Oh, I'm sure it's tough. Yeah, they just they.
- 58:02Have no ID and some people don't.
- 58:04The companies don't exist, they just inherited the license.
- 58:08And yeah, they've got some games that like, just aren't on.
- 58:11There and I'm like wonder why? Like for example Doc seed,
- 58:14remember dark seeds dark adventure game that's not on
- 58:17there. At least it didn't use that on a
- 58:19checker. The Activision Frankenstein game
- 58:25with Tim Curry in it, that's Oh yeah, I have the disc of that
- 58:28somewhere. In this house, yes, I used to
- 58:30have it. I don't think I do anymore.
- 58:31Sometimes it's not even that. The fact that.
- 58:33They don't have the rights. It's the fact that they don't
- 58:35know how to. They're still gonna work on
- 58:38making it compatible. Today's hardware, Yeah, there's
- 58:42a few old boys. Out there who?
- 58:44Are who were like coders on games from the 80s and 90s who
- 58:48are now doing ports onto modern systems of their old games and
- 58:52they've gone yeah, that's great. I don't have the rights to this,
- 58:54but I just happen to have the fucking source code on my
- 58:57computer, like on my on my fucking, you know, like Amstrad
- 59:01CPC or whatever. So why not?
- 59:05Which I love again. I love that guys outrage are.
- 59:08In charge now, yes. Useful, yes.
- 59:18Speaking of a whole bunch of guys, our.
- 59:20Age, Yes. You guys heard of the after
- 59:22party? What's the after party?
- 59:25The after party is just when, when us and.
- 59:27People like us get together and you know, just, there's no
- 59:31rules. Just just touch who you want,
- 59:33you know? How's that already?
- 59:34The after party? I know who I'm kissing first.
- 59:39What is Emmy? Rue going to be there?
- 59:40Yeah, Emmy. Rue Emiru, so how?
- 59:43Do you pronounce that? Emiru, I don't know.
- 59:46I've only ever seen her name. Written down, I've never heard
- 59:49anybody say in it. She.
- 59:52Won't be at the after party anyway.
- 59:53Yeah, she's not going to come, No.
- 59:55Even if we extended invitations, very few women at the after
- 59:58party. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:00:00No, that's not true. That's not true.
- 1:00:02We've got this ladies on the Patreon.
- 1:00:06Yeah. Oh, yes.
- 1:00:06OK, Yeah. About the same.
- 1:00:08The Patreon being used. Patriot land parties.
- 1:00:11That's right, yeah. I bought a woman to the LAN
- 1:00:13party. Once she left, she left the
- 1:00:17party. Very quickly, she said.
- 1:00:19You know. What?
- 1:00:20I'm going to go home. And I was like, that's all
- 1:00:22right, fine. Well, that's like when I took a
- 1:00:24date to the Henry. Lawson Club and she got pissed
- 1:00:26on in the lobby on the way in. Yeah, classic.
- 1:00:35Did I bring her computer? No.
- 1:00:36I said she could use mine and she said I don't want to do
- 1:00:39that. Thanks very much.
- 1:00:44No, because she wants to play with you.
- 1:00:45Oh, I don't think she wouldn't play video games at all,
- 1:00:50probably. Wasn't the?
- 1:00:51Case yeah, no, yeah, she. Heard the word party and just.
- 1:00:54Thought. It was right the way that we
- 1:00:56are. Nails on the planet used the
- 1:00:57word. I don't.
- 1:00:58I don't for a second believe that.
- 1:01:00That Michelle wanted to play video games at all.
- 1:01:02No, no, we sit there, drink a lot.
- 1:01:04Of coke, smoke a lot of cigarettes, forget which you
- 1:01:08wouldn't even ash tray. No drink from that.
- 1:01:11One no, because for me. Getting drunk would take away
- 1:01:16from the what I was trying to do, which was play video games,
- 1:01:19which was Quake 3 Arena it. Wasn't until I got like older
- 1:01:22that I was. Like I'll have a, you know, have
- 1:01:24a Scotch oil and playing a game because when I was younger, I
- 1:01:26would have been like, no, no, no, I'll dull my senses.
- 1:01:28Yeah, that's right. Yeah, Yeah.
- 1:01:31Remember. I don't follow this guy to the.
- 1:01:33Dismal, ugly air? Yes.
- 1:01:34Planning time. Yes, those days.
- 1:01:38Would go for. Hours.
- 1:01:42Good stuff, although there was those ones.
- 1:01:44Where it's just like. We could play a game or does
- 1:01:46anyone want to have a look at this porn that I've downloaded
- 1:01:51for you? That was, that was the other
- 1:01:52thing that was. Just people watching some,
- 1:01:54always somebody just watching porn.
- 1:01:56Yeah, Yep. Because it was.
- 1:01:58The era of. Transition from you had to have
- 1:02:00it on videotape or a magazine to people had it on the computer,
- 1:02:04but they we didn't have the Internet really.
