  meets reality. Have you ever been in a season
• 0:16
  where everything seemed to be going your way?
• 0:18
  Things were clicking. You felt confident, maybe even
• 0:22
  untouchable. And then something happened that
• 0:24
  reminded you just how much you don't actually have figured out.
• 0:28
  That sudden drop from confidence to confusion is one of the most
• 0:32
  humbling experiences a person can have.
• 0:35
  And it's not always bad. Sometimes it's exactly what we
• 0:39
  need. Proverbs chapter 18, verse 12
• 0:42
  says before destruction, a man's heart is haughty, but humility
• 0:47
  comes before honor. That's not just a proverb.
• 0:50
  That's a pattern you can see repeated throughout history and
• 0:53
  throughout your own life. If you look honestly, pride
• 0:56
  doesn't announce itself as pride.
• 0:58
  It usually feels like confidence, clarity, maybe even
• 1:01
  wisdom. But when it's operating without
• 1:04
  God at the center, it creates blind spots.
• 1:07
  And blind spots are dangerous. David understood this more than
• 1:12
  almost anyone. He was chosen by God to be king.
• 1:16
  He was anointed, gifted, and favored.
• 1:18
  And yet in first Samuel chapter 23, verses 2 and three, before
• 1:23
  going into a dangerous battle, David didn't charge ahead on his
• 1:27
  own confidence. He asked, shall I go and attack
• 1:31
  these Philistines? He checked in with God before he
• 1:34
  made a move, and God said yes. And because David went with
• 1:38
  God's directive rather than just his own impulse, he saved an
• 1:42
  entire city. That's the pattern that leads to
• 1:45
  honor. Not the path where you
• 1:47
  demonstrate how capable you are, but the path where you
• 1:50
  consistently turn to God and say, what do you want me to do
• 1:54
  here? That's the kind of humility that
• 1:56
  protects you from your own blind spots.
• 1:59
  And then when danger came again, threats closing in, people
• 2:03
  turning against him, betrayal on multiple sides, David turned to
• 2:07
  Psalm 54, verses one and two with one of the most honest
• 2:10
  prayers you'll find in all of Scripture.
• 2:13
  Save me, oh God, by your name, and vindicate me by your might,
• 2:18
  Oh God, hear my prayer. Give ear to the words of my
• 2:21
  mouth. He didn't go on social media to
• 2:24
  defend himself. He didn't scheme his way out.
• 2:27
  He prayed versed. He took his situation to God
• 2:32
  before trying to manage it himself.
• 2:34
  That combination, seeking God's guidance before acting and
• 2:39
  seeking God's help when threatened, is the antidote to
• 2:41
  pride. It's not weakness.
• 2:44
  It's actually the most strategic thing you can do because it
• 2:48
  keeps you connected to the wisest, most powerful source of
• 2:51
  guidance that exists. For young people especially,
• 2:55
  this matters in the everyday moments, the test you feel
• 2:58
  totally prepared for. Did you ask God for wisdom or
• 3:02
  just lean on how much you studied the decision you're
• 3:05
  confident about? Did you pray about it or just go
• 3:08
  with your gut? The relationship situation you
• 3:11
  think you've got figured out? Have you actually sought God's
• 3:14
  perspective? Humility doesn't mean thinking
• 3:18
  less of yourself. It means being honest about what
• 3:21
  you know and what you don't and consistently inviting God into
• 3:25
  the gap. It means asking before acting.
• 3:28
  It means trusting His direction even when your own instincts
• 3:32
  feel strong. And the beautiful promise?
• 3:35
  Humility comes before honor when you choose it consistently.
• 3:39
  God lifts you in His timing, in His way, in ways that actually
• 3:43
  last. Let's pray, Heavenly Father help
• 3:48
  us to recognize the places where pride is operating in our
• 3:51
  hearts, even when it disguises itself as confidence.
• 3:55
  Teach us to seek Your guidance before we act, not just when
• 3:59
  things fall apart. Like David, may we ask you first
• 4:03
  in decisions big and small, and trust that your wisdom is always
• 4:06
  better than ours. Strengthen our faith so we can
• 4:10
  rely on your protection and direction every single day.
• 4:13
  In Jesus name, Amen. What if the road ahead is not

  meant to be rushed, feared, or walked alone?
