- 0:54Speaker 4: What's up? What's up?
- 0:56Speaker 3: And just just so you know, you may want to
- 0:59Speaker 3: sit down for a second and and and relaxed because
- 1:04Speaker 3: I'm going to open the show.
- 1:06Speaker 5: Grab some popcorn already that.
- 1:08Speaker 3: We've we've already argued about this prior to even coming
- 1:13Speaker 3: on air. I think everybody has seen the whole situation
- 1:16Speaker 3: with with Chris Boyd.
- 1:19Speaker 4: And the coach pushing the coach. We gotta gotta break
- 1:22Speaker 4: it down.
- 1:23Speaker 3: So basically the way the whole, the whole setup sets
- 1:27Speaker 3: up to me, this way, he gets a penalty on
- 1:31Speaker 3: the he.
- 1:31Speaker 4: Got something the teams they might not.
- 1:33Speaker 3: Know Texans in case, okay, okay, and it's and it's
- 1:39Speaker 3: and it's a kickoff and so boys on the kickoff team.
- 1:44Speaker 4: He's running down.
- 1:46Speaker 3: Blah blah blah blah, all that, and he makes he
- 1:48Speaker 3: makes a tackle. He makes a tackle. Good, he makes
- 1:50Speaker 3: a great play because they've returning seventy yards. He callses
- 1:53Speaker 3: a fumble and he thinks that the Texans have covered
- 1:57Speaker 3: the fumble, and therefore heads run off field, takes his
- 2:00Speaker 3: helmet off.
- 2:00Speaker 4: You could take it from there.
- 2:01Speaker 3: Okay, one to celebrate a fumble or any good play.
- 2:10Speaker 4: Everybody in the world.
- 2:12Speaker 3: Knows that you cannot take your helmet off before you
- 2:15Speaker 3: get off the field.
- 2:16Speaker 4: Well, let's start prior to that. Prior to that. Can
- 2:20Speaker 4: you help me?
- 2:21Speaker 3: No, no, no, no, the play wasn't complete because he
- 2:28Speaker 3: doesn't know because he knocks the ball out. He went
- 2:32Speaker 3: so quick to the sound. He doesn't even know if
- 2:34Speaker 3: the Texans in fact recovered the fumble. So he shouldn't
- 2:37Speaker 3: have been headed off in the first place. So I'm
- 2:39Speaker 3: with you on that. So you shouldn't be heading off
- 2:41Speaker 3: that way in the first place. So okay, So okay,
- 2:45Speaker 3: with that being said, let's justify the helmet off.
- 2:49Speaker 4: There is no justification.
- 2:50Speaker 3: You can't justify it. I mean, he didn't take the
- 2:52Speaker 3: helmet off. He toss tossed it off.
- 2:54Speaker 4: He like punished.
- 2:56Speaker 3: There's no there's no play that you can make. There's
- 2:59Speaker 3: no mistake that you can make that justifies you taking
- 3:05Speaker 3: your helmet off. And at the point in time you're
- 3:07Speaker 3: taking your helmet.
- 3:08Speaker 5: Off, he's not like going back to get it.
- 3:11Speaker 4: He's he's still moving. No, he flung it. He took
- 3:14Speaker 4: it off, and yeah, threw it and like like it
- 3:16Speaker 4: ain't even and so like he's like heading to the sideline.
- 3:22Speaker 3: Now, let's all put ourselves in the situation of the coach.
- 3:28Speaker 4: You know, everything.
- 3:30Speaker 3: About what you just saw outside of the good play
- 3:34Speaker 3: is dead wrong and there's flags coming.
- 3:39Speaker 4: So now, so now you got a fifteen yard penalty.
- 3:42Speaker 3: We see that in addition to the seventy yard kickoff
- 3:45Speaker 3: return in casey Kansas City recovered the fump, right, So
- 3:49Speaker 3: you just literally just destroyed everything that you did. Okay,
- 3:57Speaker 3: So now for me and I'm I'm taking this as
- 4:02Speaker 3: a player's perspective.
- 4:05Speaker 4: Everything about that.
- 4:07Speaker 3: In my mind as the player, I have to hear
- 4:11Speaker 3: any and every criticism that any one of the coaches
- 4:15Speaker 3: come up to me, whether it's a special teams coach,
- 4:17Speaker 3: head coach, defensive coach, offensive coach, even one of the teammates.
- 4:23Speaker 3: If you come up to me and say, what are
- 4:25Speaker 3: you doing, there's no place for me to.
- 4:32Speaker 4: Say anything back to you. Man, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
- 4:34Speaker 3: I messed up much what he did. But we're to
- 4:40Speaker 3: the point where he's pushing the coach. I don't care
- 4:43Speaker 3: what the coach may say. You've been, You've you've been
- 4:47Speaker 3: in sports. You've been, you've been in a position where
- 4:51Speaker 3: somebody has authority over you, everybody has, and you've heard
- 4:57Speaker 3: something that you absolutely did not like.
- 5:00Speaker 4: I think you're looking too deep it. Oh my god, No,
- 5:02Speaker 4: I'm not, hot heart. Let's take it. Let's take it
- 5:04Speaker 4: bit by bit.
- 5:06Speaker 3: If you number one, he was in his excitement of
- 5:10Speaker 3: causing the fumble, so he's a special team as a
- 5:12Speaker 3: third teen fourteen cornerback, he makes a big play on
- 5:15Speaker 3: special teams in a playoff game. He's so manic at
- 5:20Speaker 3: this point that he loses, almost loses his mind temporarily
- 5:24Speaker 3: and throws his helmut. He know he ain't supposed to
- 5:27Speaker 3: do that, but he's so excited that he threw his
- 5:30Speaker 3: helmet off. And to me, when I look at the video,
- 5:33Speaker 3: it's almost I don't know if he even heard what
- 5:35Speaker 3: the coaches saying. I don't even know if he was
- 5:37Speaker 3: even like processing that the coach is telling him they're
- 5:40Speaker 3: wrong or criticizing him. At the point, I think it
- 5:43Speaker 3: was just an excitement and you push the coach like
- 5:45Speaker 3: I made a play, Yeah, let's go. He because prior
- 5:48Speaker 3: to the coach he even saying anything into it, he
- 5:50Speaker 3: didn't even finish the play. He runs off, froze his helmet.
- 5:54Speaker 3: That he was in a pure like I don't want
- 5:55Speaker 3: to say manic because I don't want to lessen that term.
- 5:58Speaker 3: But he was clearly not loose sit at that moment,
- 6:01Speaker 3: all right, Clearly, I.
- 6:02Speaker 4: Just want to I just I just want so.
- 6:04Speaker 3: What I'm saying, he was wrong for pushing, but I
- 6:06Speaker 3: don't think he had any malicious intent with it.
- 6:09Speaker 4: Okay.
- 6:10Speaker 3: I've known Lisa for a long time, We've done a
- 6:12Speaker 3: lot of shows together. But I don't know if I've
- 6:15Speaker 3: ever seen her like look at somebody.
- 6:21Speaker 6: Because well, okay, okay, guys, well I feel like maybe
- 6:29Speaker 6: it wasn't malicious, but he definitely was overcome with emotion.
- 6:33Speaker 6: He was very happy about the play on the field.
- 6:36Speaker 6: But that's not the way to get off the special
- 6:39Speaker 6: teams is by taking off onto the sideline and pushing
- 6:45Speaker 6: your coach, you know, because I'm sure what the coach
- 6:47Speaker 6: said was you can't take your helmet off.
- 6:49Speaker 5: You can't take something for sure, you know. And he
- 6:52Speaker 5: may maybe he could have softened it. I don't know.
- 6:54Speaker 6: We don't know exactly what the coach said, correct, we
- 6:56Speaker 6: don't know exactly what the verbal exchange was, but he
- 7:00Speaker 6: could have maybe softened it a little bit with hey,
- 7:03Speaker 6: great play. But but but maybe that is what happened.
- 7:06Speaker 6: I don't know, But it definitely does not give him.
- 7:11Speaker 5: The right to push the coach.
- 7:13Speaker 6: And and from what I'm seeing, maybe he wasn't in
- 7:16Speaker 6: an excited emotional state.
- 7:18Speaker 5: But the push was hard. The pushure was hard.
- 7:20Speaker 4: For sure, And it wasn't it wasn't. It wasn't to celebrate.
- 7:23Speaker 5: I don't think it was.
- 7:25Speaker 4: It wasn't. No, no, no, no, no.
- 7:27Speaker 3: I think he was no way, no way, because I don't.
- 7:30Speaker 3: I don't think he did.
- 7:30Speaker 4: He did.
- 7:31Speaker 3: He he was so like you said, he was so
- 7:33Speaker 3: overcome with emotion. He didn't even realize that they didn't recover.
- 7:36Speaker 4: Okay, he.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Makes this statement, he makes this statement that is not
- 7:44Speaker 3: my character. Okay, so so to me, that clearly says
- 7:50Speaker 3: to me, he was upset and he pushed them. That
- 7:53Speaker 3: doesn't say that I was emotional. I was too emotional
- 7:57Speaker 3: and I was out of my emotion good and bad.
- 8:01Speaker 4: For sure.
- 8:02Speaker 3: He wasn't pushing him like gosh, I just made this
- 8:05Speaker 3: great play. He's knowing at this point he knows his
- 8:12Speaker 3: helmet's still on the field, the flags are on the field.
- 8:14Speaker 3: I don't think he knows. I don't think he knows.
- 8:17Speaker 3: I don't think he realizes. I don't think he realized.
- 8:20Speaker 3: He probably the coach is saying something to probably even
- 8:24Speaker 3: through his helm, until the coach, until everything come down,
- 8:27Speaker 3: because yea, even after the fact when he was talking
- 8:34Speaker 3: like every after they calmed down, because they actually talked
- 8:36Speaker 3: after like after everything calmed down, the coach and had exchange.
- 8:39Speaker 4: Not it wasn't a bad exchange. The coach was basically
- 8:41Speaker 4: if you read.
- 8:42Speaker 3: The lips was like calm down, like relax, and he was,
- 8:46Speaker 3: and boy was he could see in his eyes like,
- 8:48Speaker 3: oh yeah, I was.
- 8:49Speaker 4: I was out of my mind. I think he was
- 8:51Speaker 4: he blacked out.
- 8:52Speaker 3: I think he got totally overcome with emotion and it
- 8:55Speaker 3: was just up and he didn't really realize. That's what
- 8:58Speaker 3: I'm saying. I'm not saying he's wrong. I'm not saying
- 9:00Speaker 3: that he should have pushed him. I'm not saying whatever
- 9:02Speaker 3: like that. I'm not saying he's not right. But I
- 9:05Speaker 3: don't think it was Malicia's intent. That's what I'm saying.
- 9:07Speaker 4: Please help me.
- 9:09Speaker 6: I don't I kind of see that both of what
- 9:12Speaker 6: size of both? What if you know you're both saying
- 9:15Speaker 6: is is? I do feel like he was overcome with emotion,
- 9:18Speaker 6: and if he would have been not so upset or
- 9:22Speaker 6: so excited or all those emotions he was feeling, he
- 9:24Speaker 6: probably wouldn't have pushed the coach the way he did.
- 9:27Speaker 6: But I don't feel like it was celebratory. I do
- 9:30Speaker 6: feel like he was upset with the coach, with the
- 9:33Speaker 6: you know, the criticism that he was given by the coach.
- 9:34Speaker 5: He already knew he messed up.
- 9:36Speaker 6: I'm sure in his mind, he knew that he shouldn't
- 9:37Speaker 6: have taken this helmet off, you know, probably realized there
- 9:41Speaker 6: was a penalty flag on the field that he was
- 9:43Speaker 6: responsible for. And he comes on the sideline and the
- 9:45Speaker 6: coach just kind of rubbed salt in the wound and
- 9:47Speaker 6: then there you go.
- 9:48Speaker 5: Now that was the reaction.
- 9:49Speaker 3: I don't even know if you have time, fraud to
- 9:51Speaker 3: process all that. That thing happened so fast. Okay. That's
- 9:55Speaker 3: that's the dude or the person who you say something
- 10:00Speaker 3: to and they're ready to swing on you, and you're like, dude,
- 10:03Speaker 3: what do you do?
- 10:03Speaker 4: Why are you swinging?
- 10:04Speaker 3: Because because that's because that's that emotion, that's what that's
- 10:07Speaker 3: how I react. Okay, But in your emotional state, you're
- 10:11Speaker 3: clearly not thinks, you're.
- 10:12Speaker 5: Clearly not prosing.
- 10:14Speaker 4: Okay.
- 10:14Speaker 3: So if if it's supposed to be a life lesson, okay,
- 10:18Speaker 3: and let's just assume, let's just as maybe so maybe
- 10:23Speaker 3: let's just say I'm assuming he played high school balls
- 10:27Speaker 3: we want we'll started high school. So in high school
- 10:30Speaker 3: and through college at some point in time, I like
- 10:34Speaker 3: to think that he can learned the lesson of the
- 10:36Speaker 3: things that you can't do and and and then and
- 10:39Speaker 3: then if you get you get that mad playing you're
- 10:44Speaker 3: not playing. It's not about him getting mad. He was
- 10:48Speaker 3: just emotional. The whole emotion. Define emotion. Emotional is that
- 10:53Speaker 3: when you are as an extreme of emotion. So that
- 10:56Speaker 3: whether that's so you're saying, whether that's mad, what I'm saying,
- 10:59Speaker 3: So you're saying he from celebrating, no no, no, from
- 11:03Speaker 3: the or if you're saying that he's getting he got
- 11:06Speaker 3: mad at push the coach. What I'm saying if you
- 11:08Speaker 3: look at the play from the very beginning of the play,
- 11:11Speaker 3: as soon as he made the big play, he got
- 11:13Speaker 3: so high.
- 11:14Speaker 4: That's emotional.
- 11:15Speaker 3: And then if you're saying that he got mad at
- 11:17Speaker 3: the coach, then he got so mad, that's emotional. So
- 11:19Speaker 3: I'm saying that whole play, from start to finish, he
- 11:22Speaker 3: was so emotionally charged that again, I think he was
- 11:26Speaker 3: just moving. And like I said, I'm not arguing whether
- 11:29Speaker 3: right or wrong. Of course he was wrong. I'm just
- 11:31Speaker 3: saying far as his intention, I don't think he was
- 11:34Speaker 3: a malice or a malicious intent, okay. And I think
- 11:37Speaker 3: the lesson is just don't be so damn the emotional
- 11:42Speaker 3: So Okay, I said darn, I said, darn.
- 11:45Speaker 4: So so.
- 11:49Speaker 3: My thing, my my thing is what he should be
- 11:53Speaker 3: thinking is how I should be controlling my emotions. Of course, Okay,
- 11:58Speaker 3: So if if the whatever the emotion was, let's just
- 12:02Speaker 3: say it was good or bad, it doesn't make any difference.
- 12:05Speaker 3: The moment that he threw was helmet because he was celebrating.
- 12:09Speaker 3: Let's say that was that he was celebrating at that point. Okay,
- 12:13Speaker 3: that's too much. It is the whole thing is much. Okay,
- 12:16Speaker 3: so that's too much. So that right there.
- 12:19Speaker 4: Says, Okay, you can't handle making play.
- 12:22Speaker 3: The moment he knocked the ball out and didn't try
- 12:24Speaker 3: to jump on the ball, that's too much moment, he
- 12:29Speaker 3: then and to me, to me, then you're not necessarily
- 12:35Speaker 3: prepared yet for professional sports.
- 12:39Speaker 4: Because so bad, because it's a bad moment.
- 12:43Speaker 3: It was a great place he made a name prior
- 12:46Speaker 3: to this, and and way to me, and and and
- 12:49Speaker 3: the fact that we could hear it again. Playing is
- 12:51Speaker 3: an issue. I'm just gonna say. I his career, I
- 12:55Speaker 3: want to say one. I want to say from eighty three,
- 12:58Speaker 3: from from when I when I came into the league
- 13:01Speaker 3: in eighty three, Let's just say eighty three to eighty nine. Okay,
- 13:06Speaker 3: I'm going to make the case. You put your hands
- 13:09Speaker 3: on a coach, I don't care how you do it.
- 13:12Speaker 4: You are not.
- 13:14Speaker 3: On that team. You are not on that team. Yeah,
- 13:17Speaker 3: that's extreme, it's extreme. I don't know nothing. I know
- 13:21Speaker 3: what I played in that's all I know.
- 13:23Speaker 6: Okay, So so let's let's look beyond the reasons it happened.
- 13:26Speaker 6: Let's look at what the consequences were. Were there consequences
- 13:29Speaker 6: for him after the game? I know that they lost
- 13:32Speaker 6: the game. That might be consequence of that. I don't know,
- 13:34Speaker 6: But I mean, were there any like kind of penalty.
- 13:38Speaker 3: No, No, there's no milicious intent. That's why, because I
- 13:42Speaker 3: don't believe there's militia's intent.
- 13:44Speaker 5: I think there should be some type.
- 13:45Speaker 4: I don't think. I don't think.
- 13:46Speaker 3: I don't think no one is. I don't think anybody's
- 13:48Speaker 3: aware of like what because this this is and I'm
- 13:52Speaker 3: sure it's happened at some point, but I don't know
- 13:56Speaker 3: of it ever happening, and most people don't know that
- 13:59Speaker 3: it happen, not saying it didn't, but but the reaction.
- 14:04Speaker 6: You mean, if a player pushing coach in the NFL
- 14:07Speaker 6: didn't didn't that happen last year with Travis Kelcey and
- 14:10Speaker 6: and I'm sorry.
- 14:11Speaker 4: Yes it did.
- 14:12Speaker 3: Yes, you're right, and it happened, and coaches and players
- 14:15Speaker 3: each other's face in the seat. It happens. But it
- 14:17Speaker 3: happened in your a. It happened in every area. Happened,
- 14:21Speaker 3: not in my era. We just ain't have a camera
- 14:23Speaker 3: on everything in your era, so you may I don't know, Bro,
- 14:27Speaker 3: I'm gonna tell you. I don't know a single player
- 14:32Speaker 3: that would be on a Bud Grant team now. And
- 14:36Speaker 3: there's some there's some dudes that who have short tempers,
- 14:40Speaker 3: and I'm sure that they've had conversations with Bud, some
- 14:44Speaker 3: hard conversations with Bud, but they ain't gonna put their
- 14:48Speaker 3: hands on them. And thinking that you're gonna be playing
- 14:50Speaker 3: in the.
- 14:50Speaker 4: Purple and goal.
- 14:54Speaker 3: I think it's happened. Bud can cut it for less
- 14:56Speaker 3: than that. Buck would cut it for less than that.
- 14:58Speaker 3: I don't think you cut him. It's like I said,
- 14:59Speaker 3: it was emotional.
- 15:01Speaker 4: But what's okay. Let me ask this question.
- 15:03Speaker 3: Let's just say one of the players at West Virginia
- 15:07Speaker 3: State when I was coaching, would put their hands on me.
- 15:14Speaker 3: They are they are they do they have money?
- 15:16Speaker 4: And do they have money? Are they playing on?
- 15:20Speaker 3: You have to measure. But that's the thing though, You
- 15:22Speaker 3: have to measure. Intention is vital. It's like even in
- 15:27Speaker 3: the court, in the court system, just because you do
- 15:30Speaker 3: something that don't mean because you have to measure and
- 15:35Speaker 3: you have to calculate that in and in this situation,
- 15:38Speaker 3: this was just a guy who was emotionally out of
- 15:41Speaker 3: control and he made a dumb decision because he was
- 15:44Speaker 3: emotionally out of control.
- 15:45Speaker 4: He didn't have any intention to hurt this coach or
- 15:47Speaker 4: do anything like.
- 15:49Speaker 3: He went from he went from as high as he
- 15:53Speaker 3: could be celebrating a play that he made to what
- 16:00Speaker 3: I think.
- 16:02Speaker 4: To a place that makes no sense to me of
- 16:06Speaker 4: pushing your coach.
- 16:09Speaker 3: In that in that kind of a situation, am I
- 16:13Speaker 3: am I there to have that those two well.
- 16:16Speaker 6: I agree with what you're saying as far as being
- 16:18Speaker 6: physical with a coach that that's never acceptable. But I
- 16:22Speaker 6: do think it's too extreme to throw them completely off
- 16:25Speaker 6: the team because of the behavior. I do think there
- 16:27Speaker 6: should be some type of concept and it will be
- 16:30Speaker 6: I think that's the compromise right there for me. How
- 16:32Speaker 6: many days have been have happened.
- 16:33Speaker 4: How many days have been Yeah, but not the playoffs.
- 16:35Speaker 3: They probably handled internally, Like I said, if you watch
- 16:38Speaker 3: the exchange on the sideline between them and the coach,
- 16:40Speaker 3: they were fine after that, Like because I think the coaches,
- 16:42Speaker 3: now what what what we should be getting emotional about
- 16:45Speaker 3: is Patrick Mahomes and the referees. That's what I want
- 16:50Speaker 3: to because it don't seem like this is a problem.
- 16:56Speaker 3: This is an issue because we're not going to even
- 16:59Speaker 3: have the same use again on this.
- 17:01Speaker 6: Well, well this is ridiculous. Well it is, it is.
- 17:08Speaker 6: And even the commentators during the game, I think it
- 17:11Speaker 6: was Troy he was like, this is out of control.
- 17:15Speaker 6: Like he even called out a couple of the calls
- 17:18Speaker 6: that were on the Texans. It was like, you know,
- 17:22Speaker 6: roughing the passer. You know that they showed the replays.
- 17:25Speaker 6: I wish we had video or you know that you
- 17:27Speaker 6: could see, but we can't obviously do that on radio.
- 17:29Speaker 6: But they were very very tik tacky crazy that really
- 17:34Speaker 6: changed the outcome of the game. And and this isn't
- 17:37Speaker 6: new for for you know, Patrick Mahomes. It seems like
- 17:41Speaker 6: I don't want to say he gets special treatment, but
- 17:43Speaker 6: he gets special treatment that's what I'm gonna I'm gonna
- 17:45Speaker 6: put it out. I don't want to say it, but
- 17:47Speaker 6: I'm going to know that's why I said it that way.
- 17:51Speaker 6: But I mean, I feel like and then there's the
- 17:53Speaker 6: one referee that seems to have a little more leniency
- 17:59Speaker 6: for him as far as his penalties go. And I
- 18:01Speaker 6: can't his name escapes my mom but it'll come to
- 18:04Speaker 6: me in a minute. But you know, everybody's kind of
- 18:08Speaker 6: tired of the same rhetoric coming out of Chiefs games,
- 18:12Speaker 6: and that is they protect Patrick Mahomes to the point
- 18:15Speaker 6: that it's beyond the normal protection that quarterbacks are granted
- 18:20Speaker 6: in the NFL on this day and age.
- 18:22Speaker 3: Yeah, and I'm a quarterback, so you know I want
- 18:25Speaker 3: to be protected. But I think the point like even
- 18:27Speaker 3: Treydman and they didn't the referees actually did a good
- 18:30Speaker 3: job on this car.
- 18:30Speaker 4: They didn't call it.
- 18:31Speaker 3: But what Patrick Mahomes will do is that when he
- 18:34Speaker 3: takes off and he scrambles out the pocket, he runs
- 18:36Speaker 3: down the field, he'll slow up once he gets to
- 18:39Speaker 3: the sidelines, trying to incite the defense to hit him.
- 18:42Speaker 3: So it's like stuff like that. And then if you
- 18:45Speaker 3: do like a one to one comparison to like Lamar
- 18:47Speaker 3: Jackson or Josh Allen or other quarterbacks in the league.
- 18:51Speaker 3: The defensive players will make similar plays against them, and
- 18:54Speaker 3: these quarterbacks don't get that call. And I think it
- 18:56Speaker 3: just hurts the integrity of the game if it's clear
- 18:59Speaker 3: to see that you have one player getting special treatment.
- 19:03Speaker 3: You know, it's just it just I don't know, it's
- 19:05Speaker 3: just I don't like it at all. And sometimes what
- 19:08Speaker 3: comes with that is, you know, people will say certain teams.
- 19:12Speaker 4: Not necessarily this is this is kind of interesting that
- 19:16Speaker 4: it's a player.
- 19:16Speaker 3: It's a player, but a lot of times it's it's
- 19:20Speaker 3: a team. You know that, you know that the officials
- 19:23Speaker 3: because they think this team should be good what I
- 19:28Speaker 3: would hate to think. But not saying impossible that there
- 19:34Speaker 3: could be officials. I've got a list. It's that could
- 19:44Speaker 3: could step over the line. Whatever that is. I'm not
- 19:47Speaker 3: taking it to like you know, betting or putting, having
- 19:52Speaker 3: having ways to make money on on the game. They
- 19:56Speaker 3: just in the league's interest. Maybe y in is Patrick
- 19:59Speaker 3: h going to the super Bows and plane.
- 20:01Speaker 4: Well, I'm not even I'm not saying that.
- 20:03Speaker 3: I'm just I'm just I'm trying to make the case
- 20:05Speaker 3: that Okay, I can see officials making calls and officials
- 20:11Speaker 3: not making calls. I think there could be possibly a
- 20:15Speaker 3: group of officials who wouldn't want to protect. But while
- 20:20Speaker 3: I don't like they want to, I don't if they
- 20:23Speaker 3: would have to be working in the league's interests in
- 20:25Speaker 3: order to do that, because it's not their interesting.
- 20:28Speaker 4: I don't make sure Patrick.
- 20:29Speaker 3: I don't think that there's a time between the league
- 20:32Speaker 3: and the officials. I think I think if it's anything
- 20:36Speaker 3: it's it would be officials and whether it's money betting
- 20:43Speaker 3: that type of thing.
- 20:44Speaker 4: I don't see. I don't see. I don't see who.
- 20:48Speaker 3: I don't Again, my fear of that would be who
- 20:51Speaker 3: would who would risk that that? If you're in that
- 20:54Speaker 3: position to get to the officials and and say, hey,
- 20:57Speaker 3: you know, make this work for us? I think I
- 21:01Speaker 3: think I think the league it's in their interest from
- 21:04Speaker 3: their standpoint, in order to have Patrick Mahomes be a superstar,
- 21:09Speaker 3: because every league needs a superstar and making sure that
- 21:13Speaker 3: person goes as far as we can.
- 21:16Speaker 6: But I think it's the chiefs in general, too, don't
- 21:18Speaker 6: you Because you also got the all the glamour and
- 21:21Speaker 6: the glick Taylor Swift and Travis Kelceyeah, because.
- 21:26Speaker 3: The way Kayler Clark was at the game the other day,
- 21:28Speaker 3: the last game they played the Texas. So it's like
- 21:30Speaker 3: they like that superstar. Because now you're bringing in people
- 21:35Speaker 3: who don't watch football, they don't know nothing about football,
- 21:38Speaker 3: but they know Kayler Clark and they might know Taylor Swift.
- 21:40Speaker 3: So it's like it's it's sort of like a pop
- 21:42Speaker 3: culture crossover.
- 21:44Speaker 4: So that's what I'm saying.
- 21:45Speaker 3: And it's like when you take all that into the
- 21:47Speaker 3: account and then what we're clearly seeing on the field
- 21:50Speaker 3: as far as what's being called and what's not being called,
- 21:53Speaker 3: it's not a good look for you, maybe a pure
- 21:56Speaker 3: you know football fan.
- 21:58Speaker 6: Well, obviously Clay Martin is his name, and we are
- 22:01Speaker 6: definitely calling I don't care, this is this is public record, guys.
- 22:06Speaker 6: I'm not I'm not calling anything out down Mahomes has
- 22:12Speaker 6: a seven and oh record when Clay Martin referees his games.
- 22:15Speaker 6: Oh okay, so what they did? I guess the NFL.
- 22:19Speaker 4: They've only lost what two games? Period? So you so
- 22:23Speaker 4: you could make the case there's.
- 22:24Speaker 6: A whole list of these guys that under those guys,
- 22:27Speaker 6: and I'm not going to go through all the names,
- 22:29Speaker 6: but he's a combined twenty five and oh with Clay
- 22:33Speaker 6: Martin and these other six or seven guys.
- 22:36Speaker 4: So that's over how many seasons I.
- 22:38Speaker 5: Would say since he started. I guess he started. That's
- 22:43Speaker 5: that's it.
- 22:43Speaker 6: So Mahome's starting record by referee and he the best.
- 22:47Speaker 6: The one that likes him the best is Clay.
- 22:48Speaker 3: Martin, and Clay Martin is Clay maarn like the head
- 22:51Speaker 3: referee or who I wouldn't jud.
- 22:54Speaker 5: Yeah, listen to this.
- 22:55Speaker 6: So the NFL, I guess they've kind of heeded all this,
- 22:58Speaker 6: All this chat are about, you know, the referees and
- 23:01Speaker 6: the chiefs, and so that they have assigned Cleete Blakeman,
- 23:07Speaker 6: with whom Mahomes has his second worst win percentage, So
- 23:11Speaker 6: we're gonna see he's gonna be He's been assigned to
- 23:13Speaker 6: the AFC Championship Game.
- 23:14Speaker 5: And again that makes a difference.
- 23:16Speaker 3: This is where we're at in sports. Were now we
- 23:18Speaker 3: gotta know referees names, so we gotta go like, we
- 23:21Speaker 3: gotta know referees records, so just like we know players,
- 23:24Speaker 3: just like we know everything. Okay, we need to analyze
- 23:27Speaker 3: the ref in this one. So we need to know
- 23:29Speaker 3: the record, we need to know the names.
- 23:31Speaker 5: We need to answer me that that we're really going there.
- 23:33Speaker 5: We're there because.
- 23:35Speaker 6: The outcome of games are changing because of some of
- 23:38Speaker 6: the calls of the referee.
- 23:40Speaker 3: Let me ask this question is part of that too,
- 23:44Speaker 3: because of does this bring into the fact of gambling,
- 23:49Speaker 3: because now again you know about that, the fact that
- 23:54Speaker 3: you know, you can't control people on the outside betting
- 23:57Speaker 3: and all that kind of stuff, but you know, allowing
- 24:02Speaker 3: players to have that opportunity to, you know, they want
- 24:05Speaker 3: to bet on the game whatever.
- 24:07Speaker 4: I think what players are not supposed to. They're not
- 24:09Speaker 4: supposed to. They're not supposed to.
- 24:10Speaker 3: But with all of this, with all of this, if
- 24:13Speaker 3: this is the reality of it, and I'm playing, and
- 24:16Speaker 3: I and and I got I got you as the official,
- 24:20Speaker 3: and I know I know where you are, you know,
- 24:22Speaker 3: I know you with us see, And that's to me,
- 24:31Speaker 3: that's where it gets dicey, because not only are I
- 24:34Speaker 3: mean sports betting like the apps are directly in bed
- 24:39Speaker 3: with the NFL, like ESPN has its own books. It's
- 24:45Speaker 3: it's literally sport. So I don't know how you get
- 24:49Speaker 3: around it.
- 24:49Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 24:50Speaker 3: And again I'm not accusing anybody of anything. But I
- 24:53Speaker 3: don't know how you get around players not betting, coaches,
- 24:57Speaker 3: GM's league officials. I don't know how you get around that.
- 25:02Speaker 3: And if you have those individuals who are betty and
- 25:04Speaker 3: I'm sure there's probably some sort of watch dog who
- 25:06Speaker 3: watches maybe stuff like this, But like you said, I
- 25:08Speaker 3: get my buddy and my wife whatever to make places
- 25:10Speaker 3: best for me. But if you have these individuals who
- 25:13Speaker 3: are so closely tied with these organizations, it's bound to
- 25:18Speaker 3: get dirty. We've seen show hell ol Tani a baseball player, right, yes,
- 25:22Speaker 3: you know what I mean, son, and a couple other
- 25:24Speaker 3: guys who've got actually suspended and kicked out of leagues
- 25:27Speaker 3: right recently. And see, and that's and see, that's the
- 25:29Speaker 3: reality of when you when you start talking about, Okay,
- 25:35Speaker 3: we'd sit in the meeting the beginning of the year,
- 25:38Speaker 3: no betting, no doubt, all that kind of stuff. Guys
- 25:42Speaker 3: weren't really even overly impactful. And it wasn't like it
- 25:46Speaker 3: is today.
- 25:47Speaker 4: Yeah for sure.
- 25:48Speaker 3: Because now you're watching an NFL game, you're telling me
- 25:51Speaker 3: I can't bet, right, I can't. I can't bet on
- 25:53Speaker 3: the team. I can't do any of that. But the
- 25:57Speaker 3: primary commercials, all of them harm all about betting. So
- 26:07Speaker 3: to me, I'm thinking, if you got your if you
- 26:11Speaker 3: put yourself in this situation.
- 26:13Speaker 4: I'm looking at I'm like, shame on you.
- 26:16Speaker 6: Yeah, but it's just and I to go a step
- 26:19Speaker 6: further with this referee thing. Do you think now that
- 26:22Speaker 6: it's to the point where NFL teams when they're preparing
- 26:25Speaker 6: for these a game or a playoff game, even that
- 26:28Speaker 6: they are researching who the reps are.
- 26:30Speaker 4: Going to be.
- 26:31Speaker 6: I mean, if we got this information, they definitely.
- 26:34Speaker 4: Have to happen.
- 26:36Speaker 3: Again to do but would with the statistics and the
- 26:42Speaker 3: way they do things now they are one hundred percent
- 26:45Speaker 3: analyzed and the referees and I.
- 26:47Speaker 4: Don't know that.
- 26:48Speaker 3: But what I will say is, guys know who calls
- 26:54Speaker 3: this and who calls that? Like you, you you'll remember
- 26:58Speaker 3: the official who who called two pass infense three past
- 27:02Speaker 3: interferences on you, right? You know he's that guy. You
- 27:06Speaker 3: also know who didn't do?
- 27:08Speaker 4: You know?
- 27:08Speaker 3: And you think you know that you I pulled jersey.
- 27:11Speaker 3: I know he saw it, but he let it go.
- 27:13Speaker 3: You you start to know who these guys are and
- 27:18Speaker 3: two U All's point now, if you if you know
- 27:22Speaker 3: that if you know who who's calling this, who's not
- 27:26Speaker 3: calling that. I think that's dangerous to the game.
- 27:32Speaker 4: Man. Well, I mean how we get around him?
- 27:34Speaker 5: This speaks volumes.
- 27:35Speaker 6: After the game, you had one of the players, of course,
- 27:39Speaker 6: defensive end, Will Anderson Junior, said, we knew it was Yes,
- 27:43Speaker 6: he was the one that got called right for the
- 27:45Speaker 6: for the roughing the passer. We knew it was going
- 27:49Speaker 6: to be us versus the refs going into the game,
- 27:51Speaker 6: he said that. And then you have coach Ryan's said,
- 27:54Speaker 6: we knew going into this game that it was us
- 27:56Speaker 6: versus everybody, and I mean every day. Yeah, he did say,
- 28:01Speaker 6: you know, they probably got their paperworking, not him.
- 28:04Speaker 3: Not him, because because I think with advanced analytics, you know,
- 28:07Speaker 3: they break down everything anyway, they're definitely breaking down the referees.
- 28:10Speaker 3: And I think it's just I to me because when
- 28:13Speaker 3: you say, well, you shouldn't do this, so you shouldn't
- 28:16Speaker 3: better do that. But it's when it's all in your face,
- 28:19Speaker 3: you know what I mean. And the thing is, not
- 28:22Speaker 3: only is it all in your face that you got
- 28:25Speaker 3: millions or hundreds of thousands of dollars or some case
- 28:28Speaker 3: thousands of dollars, just kind of just throw away and
- 28:30Speaker 3: play with. That's not you ain't got to pay. You
- 28:33Speaker 3: struggle to pay your light deal, you know what I mean.
- 28:35Speaker 3: You got money to sort of play with. So how
- 28:38Speaker 3: do you balance that as a player. I'm young, you know,
- 28:40Speaker 3: I'm kind of living fast. And now I got all
- 28:43Speaker 3: this in my face. And I know the players, I
- 28:44Speaker 3: know the refs, I know this stuff. So and to
- 28:48Speaker 3: and to the valid point, it's like, it's not like
- 28:50Speaker 3: they're not going to Vegas and not going to these
- 28:51Speaker 3: different places and I go to some shady bookie. Yeah right,
- 28:57Speaker 3: it's anymore. And I'd like to think that we haven't
- 29:01Speaker 3: that we that we wouldn't have gotten to this place
- 29:04Speaker 3: to where players should have the opportunity to to bet
- 29:11Speaker 3: on if you bet on yourself, So you think they
- 29:15Speaker 3: should be able to do that?
- 29:16Speaker 4: To this point, why, I mean, who's who's making it?
- 29:20Speaker 4: I mean, I mean, but I'm not gonna give up
- 29:26Speaker 4: it is but you.
- 29:28Speaker 3: But you you told me years ago you can't do nothing,
- 29:33Speaker 3: and now you're benefiting commercial wise, dollar wise, that's a
- 29:40Speaker 3: whole new revenue stream that you're benefiting from that everybody
- 29:45Speaker 3: else can bet m.
- 29:49Speaker 4: Why can't I bet that we can be well, so you,
- 29:52Speaker 4: but you can only.
- 29:56Speaker 6: Problem happens when you bet for your team to lose again,
- 29:59Speaker 6: that's when.
- 29:59Speaker 3: You have a problem, or when you're betting points, right, yeah,
- 30:05Speaker 3: points could be the issue winning and losing. I'm thinking
- 30:10Speaker 3: in my mind, one, I can't give you. I can't
- 30:15Speaker 3: I can't bet on you as a quarterback. I can't
- 30:18Speaker 3: bet on the receiver or such and such like that,
- 30:20Speaker 3: because I'm that's on me. If you're giving up points,
- 30:25Speaker 3: if you're the if you're the dude who wants to
- 30:27Speaker 3: give up the point to make sure you win your bet,
- 30:30Speaker 3: that's an issue. I don't know if you can control
- 30:34Speaker 3: some people. But some people are going to be degenerate.
- 30:37Speaker 3: So they're not gonna just bet the thousands or the hundreds,
- 30:40Speaker 3: a couple of hundred dollars. They're gonna bet the tens,
- 30:42Speaker 3: the fifteen. They're going to get up to the millions
- 30:44Speaker 3: of dollars on this stuff. And when you find yourself
- 30:47Speaker 3: in a hole, it's a way to get out.
- 30:50Speaker 4: Of that hug, right, you know. And then and then
- 30:53Speaker 4: what you.
- 30:53Speaker 3: Make prop bets, like what if so you're gonna bet
- 30:55Speaker 3: on your buddy, he's going to have a hundred. He's
- 30:57Speaker 3: gonna have this or he's gonna do this. It's just
- 30:59Speaker 3: too many veritables. And okay, let me ask this question.
- 31:03Speaker 3: So let's say I'm in a bye week and or
- 31:07Speaker 3: I'm out of the playoffs, okay, and I got these
- 31:10Speaker 3: games coming up this weekend?
- 31:14Speaker 4: Is it okay for me to bet on?
- 31:16Speaker 3: Is that?
- 31:16Speaker 4: I wonder if it's.
- 31:18Speaker 3: Let's look that up at the break, because I'm not
- 31:20Speaker 3: actually sure about that. I don't know if you can.
- 31:23Speaker 3: I thought it was just a prohibited like you, I
- 31:26Speaker 3: think it is. But that's actually a good question to me.
- 31:29Speaker 3: I'm thinking, if I'm done, I got nothing, I got
- 31:33Speaker 3: nothing in it, you know, then can I can I
- 31:37Speaker 3: actually place the bet on?
- 31:39Speaker 4: KC?
- 31:40Speaker 3: And you know I'm the bikers. We out, So let's
- 31:42Speaker 3: look at it up ahead. You gotta take a break anyway.
- 31:45Speaker 3: We'll think quick break and we'll be right back.
- 31:48Speaker 7: Let's face it, bad things happen to good people seriously

- 32:48Speaker 2: the conversation.
- 32:50Speaker 3: All right, well, we've had we're zero for two consuning.
- 32:54Speaker 4: We've had two topics and we have yet to agree.
- 32:57Speaker 4: I don't think.
- 32:58Speaker 3: I don't think we got to an agreement on the betting,
- 33:01Speaker 3: but I mean I think we are in agreement, but
- 33:03Speaker 3: I mean just different just to clean on, just to
- 33:05Speaker 3: clear NFL players, and that's what we're talking about. Specifically,
- 33:08Speaker 3: they are prohibited from betting on NFL games, whether they're
- 33:12Speaker 3: playing or not. But your point is, your point is
- 33:15Speaker 3: that saying that maybe they should be allowed if they're
- 33:18Speaker 3: not participating in that game.
- 33:20Speaker 4: I mean, you let gambling happen, you let it out,
- 33:24Speaker 4: you let it happen.
- 33:25Speaker 5: I think it would be hard to control.
- 33:26Speaker 6: I think I think that's too that it's smart just
- 33:30Speaker 6: to say, you know, blank a statement, no.
- 33:32Speaker 3: But why would you get in and I hate to
- 33:34Speaker 3: use this term, get in bed with gambling.
- 33:38Speaker 4: You're promoting gambling in for the NFL.
- 33:42Speaker 6: To me, and then you want to tell me I
- 33:44Speaker 6: maybe maybe they just put that statement out and kind
- 33:46Speaker 6: of turn a blind eye to it.
- 33:48Speaker 5: They probably guys have got suspended.
- 33:50Speaker 6: Yeah, like what he's saying, like not on your own
- 33:53Speaker 6: team or you're player, you're like after you're out of
- 33:56Speaker 6: a playoff.
- 33:57Speaker 4: Yeah, the guys have done that. That's what guys have done.
- 33:59Speaker 3: Yeah, sp it's just just for the you know, kind
- 34:02Speaker 3: of cleaning they're it. Yeah, they're oppoting it and just
- 34:05Speaker 3: to clean it up like NFL players, And that's what
- 34:07Speaker 3: we're talking about.
- 34:08Speaker 4: Specifically, they are allowed to bet on other sports.
- 34:10Speaker 5: So okay, yeah, oh well interesting.
- 34:16Speaker 3: Where are you taking a student at least, I think
- 34:18Speaker 3: you're ready to go somewhere.
- 34:19Speaker 6: Well, I thought the game Monday night, if you guys
- 34:22Speaker 6: caught it, I thought that was a great game Ohio
- 34:24Speaker 6: State and the Fighting Irish, great great comeback, or actually
- 34:28Speaker 6: the fighting Irish trying to make a great comeback ended
- 34:31Speaker 6: up losing thirty four to twenty three to the buck Eyes. Interestingly,
- 34:35Speaker 6: it was the buck Ey's first national title in a decade,
- 34:38Speaker 6: so that was pretty cool. I think the question I
- 34:41Speaker 6: wanted to explore more than just the championship game, And
- 34:44Speaker 6: you guys can give me your opinions at what you
- 34:46Speaker 6: think about it, But did you think that expanding the
- 34:49Speaker 6: college football playoff from four to twelve was a good
- 34:52Speaker 6: move overall.
- 34:55Speaker 3: To I think I saw who it is, saw okay,
- 35:01Speaker 3: this is the champion, like we saw you go through
- 35:04Speaker 3: the fire. And what I like about the play like
- 35:08Speaker 3: the one thing let's go caught. But the one thing
- 35:10Speaker 3: I don't like about it is that it sort of
- 35:13Speaker 3: takes away from the regular season that was college football
- 35:16Speaker 3: because back in the day, you had to be perfect.
- 35:19Speaker 3: You had to maybe you only could afford one loss
- 35:21Speaker 3: to a very good team. You had to beat the
- 35:23Speaker 3: other teams. You had a dog the teams that you beat.
- 35:25Speaker 3: So it kind of took a little luster out of
- 35:28Speaker 3: the regular season, but it's moved that to the to
- 35:30Speaker 3: the playoffs, and as they do it more.
- 35:32Speaker 4: And more to get it right far as the seeding
- 35:34Speaker 4: is concerned. So I thought it was good.
- 35:35Speaker 3: I enjoyed the idea of you know, defining the best teams, yeah, right,
- 35:46Speaker 3: matching them up and and and and unfortunately you don't
- 35:51Speaker 3: get to have a bad day because you have a
- 35:55Speaker 3: bad day and lose to a team that you everybody
- 35:57Speaker 3: thought you were gonna you should beat, you go home, right,
- 36:01Speaker 3: And so I like that whole I like everything about it,
- 36:05Speaker 3: and I think, to me, I think it brings viewership
- 36:12Speaker 3: if nothing else, but for those for that playoffs yet.
- 36:15Speaker 6: Really, yeah, that was something that you know, we've talked
- 36:17Speaker 6: about in the past on the show about the bowl
- 36:19Speaker 6: season and how you know, some of these games are
- 36:21Speaker 6: irrelevant and people don't watch them. And actually, with the
- 36:25Speaker 6: way that they set the bowl games up in conjunction
- 36:28Speaker 6: with the twelve game playoff system, the viewership of the
- 36:32Speaker 6: Bowl season was fourteen percent.
- 36:35Speaker 5: Yeah, so it's helped that.
- 36:36Speaker 6: It's definitely helped that, but I'm like you, I think
- 36:39Speaker 6: they're the only thing they really need to kind of
- 36:41Speaker 6: clean up with it is probably maybe that first round
- 36:44Speaker 6: by for the conference chance. Yeah, maybe they could do
- 36:47Speaker 6: something about that, maybe eliminate that.
- 36:50Speaker 3: Definitely saying that because the conference don't meet as much
- 36:53Speaker 3: as what they used to, you know what I mean,
- 36:54Speaker 3: And not to say I would get rid of the
- 36:57Speaker 3: conference championships, but I mean that's it. There's a lot
- 37:00Speaker 3: of games and you're going to you know almost what
- 37:04Speaker 3: Ohio they play with seventeen games this season.
- 37:06Speaker 5: It is a lot. You know, You're probably right.
- 37:08Speaker 3: So I think that can maybe lesson, maybe take off
- 37:11Speaker 3: a regular season game. And they got to fix that
- 37:13Speaker 3: because I don't think the conference championship. I think you
- 37:15Speaker 3: if you win your conference, you should have automatic you know, bid,
- 37:19Speaker 3: But I think that not the buy. And also what
- 37:23Speaker 3: I would like to see, I mean, if it ever
- 37:24Speaker 3: gets suspended, I want to see some of the smaller
- 37:27Speaker 3: schools getting I want to see maybe a spot reserve
- 37:29Speaker 3: for the non Power five. I like to see that
- 37:32Speaker 3: because you never know, for like if a James Madison
- 37:34Speaker 3: or Marshall or somebody got in.
- 37:35Speaker 4: I would love to see I think I think to
- 37:37Speaker 4: that very very valid point.
- 37:40Speaker 3: I think there should be you either have to do
- 37:43Speaker 3: that or create something else.
- 37:46Speaker 4: Yeah you know what I'm saying.
- 37:48Speaker 3: Yeah, you got to either make a spot for those
- 37:52Speaker 3: smaller teams. And again they may not there's great chances
- 37:57Speaker 3: they may not win that first game, but but they
- 38:00Speaker 3: deserve to have an opportunity, you know, or give them
- 38:06Speaker 3: the same exact thing setup, the same setup in their
- 38:10Speaker 3: own I don't care, you know, league or how do
- 38:14Speaker 3: you level? If you're D one, D two, you go there.
- 38:20Speaker 3: I don't you know what I'm saying, I don't care
- 38:21Speaker 3: where how you build it, but you build an area
- 38:25Speaker 3: for these smaller teams so that they can win a championship.
- 38:28Speaker 3: Because I would take like I would do just like
- 38:31Speaker 3: what basketball does at the college level and just have
- 38:34Speaker 3: like you have your championship and you have like your
- 38:36Speaker 3: N I T. But what I mean how I would
- 38:39Speaker 3: do it. I mean again, that would have non power
- 38:42Speaker 3: five power five and if that power that non power
- 38:45Speaker 3: five wins that you know, wins that set up, when's
- 38:49Speaker 3: the set up wins the championship, then they can bounce
- 38:51Speaker 3: up to power five. So I would kind of do
- 38:53Speaker 3: it like that where you create the incentive not only monetarily,
- 38:56Speaker 3: because I think what we're talking about as well is
- 38:58Speaker 3: that if you set up a play off system with
- 39:00Speaker 3: the non power foul, it gives those schools an opportunity
- 39:03Speaker 3: to actually get some more revenue so hopefully they can
- 39:07Speaker 3: keep some of their players with you know, the transfer portal,
- 39:10Speaker 3: n IM everything like that.
- 39:12Speaker 4: Yeah, because if you're a good player, you don't.
- 39:14Speaker 3: Yeah, you gotta go because you want to go up,
- 39:16Speaker 3: because you want you what you think is going to
- 39:19Speaker 3: be visible.
- 39:20Speaker 4: You want to be visible.
- 39:21Speaker 3: To get in the draft and all those kind of things.
- 39:25Speaker 4: It ain't even in the draft no more.
- 39:26Speaker 3: It's just getting being visible to go to WVU instead
- 39:29Speaker 3: of a smaller score Alabama or go somewhere else. So
- 39:32Speaker 3: it's like now, it's like it's all sorts of steps
- 39:35Speaker 3: that's happening, right, and and and and to to justify that,
- 39:40Speaker 3: there are plenty players that are playing on teams that
- 39:46Speaker 3: no one would say, oh, there's no way they could
- 39:48Speaker 3: ever play Alabama. But there could be a player on
- 39:51Speaker 3: that team that can play for Alabama. Sure, we see
- 39:53Speaker 3: it and seeing it and you see this all the time,
- 39:57Speaker 3: and you know it's like, wow, how did this have happen.
- 40:00Speaker 4: But if you give them that opportunity to shine.
- 40:05Speaker 3: In a playoff games and all that kind of stuff,
- 40:08Speaker 3: I think I think they that shows up, and I
- 40:10Speaker 3: think that helps these players get recognition and and the school.
- 40:15Speaker 3: And I think, and this is something I was looking
- 40:18Speaker 3: at this weekend because I know we've talked about in
- 40:21Speaker 3: I L. Like I said, I don't think either one
- 40:23Speaker 3: of us have a problem with with NIL you know
- 40:26Speaker 3: the idea of it, but I think how it's being
- 40:28Speaker 3: executed as flawed. But one of the things that's happening
- 40:31Speaker 3: in college football to your point, when we talk about
- 40:34Speaker 3: those players that maybe a smaller school, a smaller power
- 40:37Speaker 3: five or smaller non power five, what's happening is that
- 40:41Speaker 3: we're letting third party billionaire and millionaires and corporations come
- 40:46Speaker 3: in and now they are essentially controlling college football right
- 40:52Speaker 3: and building champ and building champions because now you can
- 40:54Speaker 3: just suck players based monetarily from this school, that school,
- 40:59Speaker 3: that school, and they because they have the resources to
- 41:01Speaker 3: do it. So again, I mean, if anybody from the
- 41:04Speaker 3: NC Double A is listening, you're failing and you're killing it.
- 41:08Speaker 3: Because again, what we got to remember and I've said
- 41:10Speaker 3: this before, is that players were not asking for this
- 41:14Speaker 3: the billions and trillions of dollars. They were asking for
- 41:17Speaker 3: a cut of what the schools and the NC Double
- 41:20Speaker 3: A is getting, and the NC Double A is still
- 41:22Speaker 3: not doing that and then ruining the game because what's
- 41:25Speaker 3: going to end up happening is that. And you said
- 41:28Speaker 3: it before you listen, You've broken it down where you're saying,
- 41:32Speaker 3: the schools that are paying the most are getting the
- 41:34Speaker 3: furthest in this and that's what's going to continue to happen.
- 41:37Speaker 3: So again, to our point, it would be great to
- 41:40Speaker 3: see a school, a non powerful five school come up
- 41:43Speaker 3: and be able to like maybe win a couple of
- 41:44Speaker 3: playoff games. It'll be like, that'd be awesome, But that's
- 41:47Speaker 3: not the case, particularly with college football, because of how
- 41:51Speaker 3: it's being set up with the NIM money.
- 41:53Speaker 6: Well, the one thing that we did see this year,
- 41:55Speaker 6: which was kind of refreshing, at least it was from
- 41:58Speaker 6: my perspective, was to see the SEC kind of get
- 42:01Speaker 6: you slighted in the choosing by the committee. I think
- 42:05Speaker 6: the committee got it right. Obviously, there were some teams upset.
- 42:09Speaker 6: Alabama obviously was not happy when they were left out
- 42:12Speaker 6: of the twelfth team set up, so was South Carolina
- 42:16Speaker 6: in Mississippi. But then if you look at what happened
- 42:20Speaker 6: after that, after they were slighted and left out of
- 42:22Speaker 6: the twelfth team playoff, they went to their perspective bowls
- 42:25Speaker 6: and lost their bowl game as well.
- 42:27Speaker 5: Now you could look at that two ways.
- 42:29Speaker 6: You could look at Okay, they really didn't belong or
- 42:32Speaker 6: were they just so morally down that they didn't make
- 42:35Speaker 6: it pay or players didn't play right right right, So
- 42:38Speaker 6: it could be either one, but still it kind of
- 42:40Speaker 6: shows us a chink in the armor of.
- 42:43Speaker 5: The sec so to speak. Well, and I think too
- 42:45Speaker 5: they have all the money.
- 42:47Speaker 4: Yeah, and I.
- 42:47Speaker 3: Think too that when you go let's just say you
- 42:51Speaker 3: go to Alabama, you just automatically assume, or there was
- 42:55Speaker 3: a time where you could automatically assume, we're gonna be
- 42:58Speaker 3: in bowl games. We're gonna big, both big, We're gonna
- 43:01Speaker 3: be at the top championships. You you you get, you're getting.
- 43:07Speaker 3: We're getting to a point or we should get to
- 43:10Speaker 3: a point where everybody ain't sure. Yeah, that's what I
- 43:13Speaker 3: would love, you know, everybody, But I don't think we're
- 43:16Speaker 3: getting there. I think is the money gets more concentrated,
- 43:20Speaker 3: and particularly if we're letting third parties come in. I
- 43:23Speaker 3: think if we had a situation where the n C
- 43:25Speaker 3: Double A was actually doing their job and they're controlling this,
- 43:29Speaker 3: and they're setting a standard and the money is being
- 43:32Speaker 3: a spread up just a touch more evenly, I think
- 43:34Speaker 3: we would get to that place where it's more parody.
- 43:37Speaker 4: Right, Can I try to say it? I'm gonna try
- 43:42Speaker 4: to say something.
- 43:42Speaker 3: I don't know if I'm gonna get this right when
- 43:44Speaker 3: as the way it comes out in my head, though
- 43:46Speaker 3: it makes it's making sense to me. Okay, at some point,
- 43:52Speaker 3: I think when you start talking about the financial piece,
- 43:59Speaker 3: when is that going to become part of the school's responsibility. Okay,
- 44:04Speaker 3: but I think it already is. But the fact of
- 44:06Speaker 3: the matters. It's not necessarily because the money has to
- 44:09Speaker 3: filter through the school, but it's the point of where
- 44:11Speaker 3: the money's coming from, right, right, And and I think
- 44:14Speaker 3: there has to be there has to be some kind
- 44:16Speaker 3: of This league should be capped at X amount of
- 44:21Speaker 3: income if you want to call it in for sure,
- 44:24Speaker 3: and this team, this group can get this much, but
- 44:27Speaker 3: at at this rate, you've got teams getting billions and
- 44:34Speaker 3: then you got another team that's going getting a couple
- 44:36Speaker 3: of drops, you can't. But you can't say that when
- 44:39Speaker 3: the money is coming through the third parties, when the
- 44:42Speaker 3: money's coming outside of the construct of the school. If
- 44:45Speaker 3: I'm a donor and I say I want to donate
- 44:47Speaker 3: a million dollars to West Virginia State and our air
- 44:50Speaker 3: market for n I L and I want to pay,
- 44:52Speaker 3: then you can't necessarily control that.
- 44:54Speaker 4: I understand.
- 44:55Speaker 3: What has to happen is that the n CLA has
- 44:57Speaker 3: to step up and it's some of the money. That's
- 45:00Speaker 3: what they don't want to do, which is we don't
- 45:02Speaker 3: They don't want to share their money.
- 45:04Speaker 4: They will take all the outside money.
- 45:06Speaker 3: But see, that's that's what I think is creating the
- 45:09Speaker 3: problem is is that month teams with money win.
- 45:15Speaker 5: And the championship game.
- 45:17Speaker 4: Yes, I mean if.
- 45:19Speaker 3: You don't even know how much money know to day
- 45:20Speaker 3: man right, and I bet know their dame got.
- 45:25Speaker 6: A They were probably the highest in college.
- 45:29Speaker 4: But if you at the.
- 45:31Speaker 3: Top, if you want the top, and maybe even the
- 45:33Speaker 3: top by a lot, you would say it. I mean,
- 45:36Speaker 3: you can put it out there. They were Yeah, I bet,
- 45:39Speaker 3: and I bet. Moving forward, a school like Notre Dame
- 45:41Speaker 3: is really going to be because of the history of
- 45:43Speaker 3: Notre Dame. The people went there, people who went to
- 45:45Speaker 3: Notre Dame love.
- 45:47Speaker 6: The conference affiliated. They're they're independent, they can do whatever
- 45:50Speaker 6: they want. Basically, I mean, they should be in the
- 45:54Speaker 6: championship game.
- 45:55Speaker 4: Is that so? Is that kind of again?
- 45:58Speaker 3: The fact that you know they're independent, they're not tied
- 46:02Speaker 3: down to a conference to where they play.
- 46:04Speaker 4: Teams the same teams every year.
- 46:07Speaker 3: And teams get to get to scout them, get an
- 46:11Speaker 3: understanding of what they do and all that kind of stuff.
- 46:14Speaker 3: Because you know how film is, Hollins, When you're scouting
- 46:16Speaker 3: you get what two three games game?
- 46:21Speaker 4: Now you can well, yeah, you can get them all.
- 46:23Speaker 3: But still I'm going to make the case that you
- 46:28Speaker 3: need there needs to be like a a a set
- 46:32Speaker 3: amount of money at the top that you can make.
- 46:36Speaker 3: And I think that happen.
- 46:38Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean period, but you can't and you can't
- 46:40Speaker 4: make money.
- 46:42Speaker 6: I understand that there's got to be a way to you.
- 46:46Speaker 4: I can see.
- 46:47Speaker 3: That's what I'm asking that you better. I think that's
- 46:49Speaker 3: what you Holland, I think that's what you have to have.
- 46:51Speaker 3: You have to be able.
- 46:52Speaker 5: To you have to be able to continu change the rules.
- 46:55Speaker 3: Yes, you have to be able to control the money.
- 46:58Speaker 3: Because again to ex team, who's got a bunch of
- 47:03Speaker 3: billionaires throwing money into them? Now they're bringing all these
- 47:07Speaker 3: players in from other teams. Now what you got you
- 47:11Speaker 3: you got a dominating team that you know is gonna
- 47:14Speaker 3: win the championship.
- 47:15Speaker 4: Who's watching that? Yeah? Nobody?
- 47:18Speaker 6: And let me throw this out there, because I may
- 47:19Speaker 6: I may be wrong, but is Notre Dame the who's
- 47:22Speaker 6: the other independence in college football?
- 47:24Speaker 5: Besides Notre Dame? Are they the only special?
- 47:26Speaker 4: Uh? I like Army, Navy?
- 47:29Speaker 5: Different but different?
- 47:31Speaker 3: I think Notre Dames like the big independent. I don't know,
- 47:33Speaker 3: I don't know anybody at that level.
- 47:36Speaker 5: Yeall like yeah, because.
- 47:38Speaker 4: Everybody else is affiliated with to.
- 47:40Speaker 5: Come exactly exactly?
- 47:41Speaker 3: So why you know why exactly?
- 47:44Speaker 5: You go ahead, go ahead?
- 47:45Speaker 4: No, I was gonna say, like why think Originally?
- 47:48Speaker 3: I think originally they had they were like the first
- 47:51Speaker 3: school or one of the first schools with like the
- 47:53Speaker 3: TV deal. So they had like the NBC deal because
- 47:57Speaker 3: you're growing up, remember you, we can watch everything TV
- 48:00Speaker 3: every single week across the whole entire nation. They don't
- 48:03Speaker 3: have blackouse, so they don't they're not regionalized. So I
- 48:06Speaker 3: think originally, I think what because I want to say
- 48:09Speaker 3: they had some conversations with the Big Ten at first
- 48:12Speaker 3: and then ACC but because I know basketball and the
- 48:14Speaker 3: other sports are acc but again, they didn't want to
- 48:17Speaker 3: share that revenue. I think originally, like back in the day,
- 48:20Speaker 3: they didn't want to share that revenue with the conference
- 48:22Speaker 3: because they would have had to share the revenue. So
- 48:24Speaker 3: I think that's it, and it gives them flexibility and
- 48:26Speaker 3: they're like, like I said, they're national, you know, whether
- 48:28Speaker 3: we like it or not, They're a national staple.
- 48:30Speaker 5: They are. They are for sure.
- 48:32Speaker 6: And at some point I don't even know if this
- 48:34Speaker 6: is relevant anymore, but weren't they tied into conferences, bowls,
- 48:37Speaker 6: game systems like they were guaranteed if they wanted to
- 48:40Speaker 6: go to.
- 48:41Speaker 3: Like the Rose Bowl, like the Big it's like the
- 48:44Speaker 3: you know, so they yeah, like the Big Ten, like
- 48:46Speaker 3: I said, the Big Ten to Pac twelve. So they
- 48:48Speaker 3: always had like those affiliations.
- 48:50Speaker 6: It wasn't like direct, which to me, I didn't like
- 48:54Speaker 6: that because I feel like they took conference spots for
- 48:57Speaker 6: the people that were in the actual you know league to.
- 49:01Speaker 4: The bowl games. Do you do you do you support
- 49:04Speaker 4: the Bowl games.
- 49:05Speaker 3: Or one hundred percent, But I just think it's got
- 49:07Speaker 3: to be like what Lisa said, it's got to be
- 49:09Speaker 3: tied into a playoffships, you know what I'm saying, Like
- 49:12Speaker 3: they're not appointing somebody for this boon. It's like this
- 49:15Speaker 3: is the first round, you know, Taco.
- 49:17Speaker 6: Bells for the non Power Files games, and make that playoffs.
- 49:24Speaker 3: So you have two playoff system and the relevant so
- 49:27Speaker 3: you got twelve teams at the Big Top and then
- 49:29Speaker 3: you can have like twenty four teams. You know what
- 49:31Speaker 3: I'm saying for the rest of everybody, And and you
- 49:33Speaker 3: know what I mean, it's specifically maybe for the non
- 49:36Speaker 3: power Files, but if you have some Powerfiles that want
- 49:38Speaker 3: to participate, I don't know how you would specifically do it,
- 49:40Speaker 3: but I just say tie to those remaining bowl games.
- 49:42Speaker 3: Because again we watched the bowl games that were affiliated
- 49:46Speaker 3: with the playoffs those other but I didn't watch a
- 49:48Speaker 3: single ball. It was just because half the players didn't play.
- 49:51Speaker 3: And it's just like I said, And even to that
- 49:52Speaker 3: point when we talk about controlling the money, not only
- 49:56Speaker 3: should it be controlled maybe far as a cap and
- 49:58Speaker 3: different things of that nature, but it's also controlled to like, hey,
- 50:01Speaker 3: if you sign this contract, you take this money, you're
- 50:04Speaker 3: playing the boat.
- 50:05Speaker 4: You finish your season.
- 50:07Speaker 5: Like I said, so coaches and.
- 50:09Speaker 3: Player to your to that last point of players not,
- 50:15Speaker 3: you know, not playing in the bowl game for safety reasons,
- 50:20Speaker 3: well I don't think it's purely for that. What may
- 50:23Speaker 3: not be, but a lot of times that's what that's
- 50:25Speaker 3: that's what it's.
- 50:26Speaker 4: It's timing because if you're transferring, you got to go quick.
- 50:30Speaker 3: Well let's just say the guys, let's go, let's talk
- 50:32Speaker 3: about this, the top players, the senior guys who are
- 50:36Speaker 3: not going to play in a bowl game. Now, you know, okay,
- 50:42Speaker 3: I understand, I truly truly understand that you you want
- 50:45Speaker 3: to be safe and you want to get that opportunity
- 50:47Speaker 3: to to play at the next level. But who are
- 50:54Speaker 3: you to then in turn put an entire school, a team,
- 51:02Speaker 3: a school, it's fan base. You're gonna walk out on
- 51:07Speaker 3: them for what But it's bigger than that now because
- 51:13Speaker 3: they may see it bigger than that, Because I get it.
- 51:17Speaker 3: You could be a first round pick and there's hundreds
- 51:19Speaker 3: of millions.
- 51:20Speaker 4: Of dollars out there waiting for you.
- 51:21Speaker 3: But it's it's hundreds of thousands probably already got now,
- 51:24Speaker 3: so I don't have to go and do this, particularly
- 51:27Speaker 3: if I know that other team's best ain't playing, then
- 51:29Speaker 3: why am I gonna play?
- 51:31Speaker 4: And my question is is why are you not playing? Why?
- 51:34Speaker 4: You like?
- 51:34Speaker 3: Because there's nothing walking to I can't walk as there's
- 51:38Speaker 3: no reason to play because you don't have to play
- 51:40Speaker 3: that game in order to increase your draft stock.
- 51:43Speaker 4: They've already done that.
- 51:44Speaker 3: You've already got ten twelve games that have already played,
- 51:46Speaker 3: or maybe even more if I had a if I
- 51:48Speaker 3: started multiple years, So you don't have to play that bowl.
- 51:51Speaker 3: You don't have to play that game because again I don't.
- 51:53Speaker 3: I don't even consider it have to. I'm not even
- 51:55Speaker 3: looking at it as half to we are in a bowl,
- 51:59Speaker 3: We're we.
- 52:00Speaker 4: Have this game, we have this game, we are going
- 52:04Speaker 4: to travel and we are going.
- 52:06Speaker 6: To play in that the coaches ain't got a coach,
- 52:09Speaker 6: then you ain't gotta play.
- 52:11Speaker 3: The bowl games have rendered meaningless, okay, the championships, you're right,
- 52:17Speaker 3: And to the coaches being able to leave before a
- 52:20Speaker 3: bowl game, that shouldn't that that makes zero sense to me.
- 52:24Speaker 5: Couldn't the schools address that? Though? Hollis I mean, couldn't
- 52:26Speaker 5: they make part of their contract and they're in.
- 52:30Speaker 3: Here's the thing. If I have to take another job,
- 52:32Speaker 3: I have to start recruiting. So I got to hit
- 52:35Speaker 3: November final. Excuse me, in the November beginning of December
- 52:38Speaker 3: finals are happening, guys are going to take their finals,
- 52:41Speaker 3: and then probably by November tenth, recruiting starts to happen,
- 52:44Speaker 3: and now guys are jumping into Portal. So it's like
- 52:46Speaker 3: I said, what I think should happen is that the
- 52:49Speaker 3: season needs to be moved up. So football need to
- 52:52Speaker 3: start July, like July fourth. July fourth, that should be
- 52:57Speaker 3: the first game of the college football since's never happened.
- 52:59Speaker 3: And then the college Championship needs to be done by
- 53:02Speaker 3: that first week of finals, so that like that December tenth,
- 53:06Speaker 3: it needs like the championship needs to be played then
- 53:08Speaker 3: and it's over. So that way, don't nobody got to leave.
- 53:11Speaker 3: You can start to transfer Portal. Now everybody can finish
- 53:14Speaker 3: their season. It's got to start earlier.
- 53:16Speaker 6: I mean that that sounds like it's it's reasonable and sensible,
- 53:20Speaker 6: but you think about the holidays and people enjoy they
- 53:23Speaker 6: travel for bowl games over the Christmas break you know
- 53:26Speaker 6: that there's there's money to be made with those fans
- 53:29Speaker 6: going to the different games. It's logistic made easier for
- 53:33Speaker 6: the for the fans to get there and the players.
- 53:36Speaker 3: Travel Thanksgiving break. So now that all the bowl games
- 53:41Speaker 3: outside the.
- 53:42Speaker 6: Trip November though, right, I mean you would start your
- 53:44Speaker 6: bowl games the first November like the bowl games start
- 53:46Speaker 6: the first dec championships.
- 53:48Speaker 3: And then like the big like all the remaining bowl
- 53:50Speaker 3: games will we play inside that week?
- 53:52Speaker 5: Traditional?
- 53:53Speaker 4: So that week all the bowl games are being played.
- 53:56Speaker 3: So I'm just saying, like, if we want to stop it,
- 53:58Speaker 3: that's the only way you stop, because you can't. I'm
- 54:00Speaker 3: signing because the coach. I'm not signing a contract where
- 54:03Speaker 3: I have to coach through a bowl game because if
- 54:05Speaker 3: I'm at you know, Liberty, or if I'm at East
- 54:08Speaker 3: Carolina and I have a great season and I went
- 54:11Speaker 3: because now again the big champ thing is the conference
- 54:14Speaker 3: championship is the big thing now because remember it wasn't
- 54:16Speaker 3: back in the day. Conference championships are big where bowl
- 54:19Speaker 3: games would be back in the day. So if I
- 54:21Speaker 3: win a conference championship, but East East Carolina and the
- 54:24Speaker 3: Tennessee job coping or the UNC or the North.
- 54:26Speaker 4: Carolina State job.
- 54:27Speaker 3: I'm yeah, and I gotta start recruiting December first.
- 54:33Speaker 4: Yeah, I get it.
- 54:36Speaker 5: I just hate it for the smaller school.
- 54:38Speaker 3: I hate it for any of the school I hate
- 54:40Speaker 3: it even for I hated even for some because I
- 54:44Speaker 3: believe that some of these coaches did not They had
- 54:47Speaker 3: to leave you, guy, couldn't.
- 54:48Speaker 4: They couldn't pass up this coach tough.
- 54:50Speaker 3: He had to go yes, and and and all the
- 54:54Speaker 3: things that came with that horrible situation that rich Rod
- 54:57Speaker 3: had to go see you.
- 55:00Speaker 4: Why can't we fix that? Like you know, I got
- 55:03Speaker 4: to fix it. Put me in coach.
- 55:05Speaker 5: Well for sure.
- 55:06Speaker 6: If we don't fix it, we do not need to
- 55:08Speaker 6: punish the schools for that was ridiculous. When Marshall got
- 55:12Speaker 6: fined what was one hundred thousand dollars you were not participating.
- 55:15Speaker 4: In the ball ridiculous.
- 55:17Speaker 2: I mean, we don't.
- 55:17Speaker 6: They don't have the money as it is, and then
- 55:19Speaker 6: you take one hundred that's a lot of money to Marshall.
- 55:21Speaker 3: It's a lot of money. Make the coach pay it,
- 55:23Speaker 3: you know, that's just nobody.
- 55:26Speaker 4: You can't pay that. You can't.
- 55:27Speaker 3: You can't. To your point, nobody should have to pay it.
- 55:30Speaker 3: But to your point also, it shouldn't be possible.
- 55:36Speaker 4: That's the system. But you can't change.
- 55:38Speaker 3: But we think this just can't allow transfers at the
- 55:42Speaker 3: time that you allowed them, and then like what he had,
- 55:45Speaker 3: like twenty thirty players leave forty and then you want
- 55:48Speaker 3: me to go out there and play a game?
- 55:50Speaker 4: Right, what am I supposed to do? You know what
- 55:52Speaker 4: I mean?
- 55:54Speaker 5: Of all things the team and yeah, but the thing is.
- 55:58Speaker 3: My thing is is if you if you if you
- 56:01Speaker 3: can't talk to a coach or cut a deal with
- 56:04Speaker 3: a coach to come play, come coach at your school
- 56:08Speaker 3: until X date, that.
- 56:10Speaker 4: Needs to be passed all the bowl games.
- 56:14Speaker 3: But it logistically, right now, the way it's set up,
- 56:17Speaker 3: it does not work timing wise. You cannot. I don't okay,
- 56:21Speaker 3: I don't care.
- 56:22Speaker 4: I don't care. Here's the thing. I don't care if
- 56:24Speaker 4: it works timing.
- 56:25Speaker 3: Because it's something that has no because if I'm a school,
- 56:28Speaker 3: if I'm Southern miss I'm not gonna say, Okay, yeah,
- 56:31Speaker 3: you can wait till Darner December is over and then
- 56:34Speaker 3: come no, because I need you here top of December,
- 56:38Speaker 3: first week of December to get in that transfer portal.
- 56:41Speaker 4: And start recruiting.
- 56:42Speaker 5: You know, maybe maybe you gotta do it right.
- 56:45Speaker 6: Maybe what what should happen is these smaller bowls that
- 56:47Speaker 6: really don't mean a lot, maybe we shouldn't commit to them.
- 56:50Speaker 6: I mean, Marshall just just doesn't commit. Although that was
- 56:53Speaker 6: a pretty good bowl. And when you're start trying to get.
- 56:59Speaker 3: Punished if you start talking about the fan base, fan
- 57:03Speaker 3: base is they're they're they're all.
- 57:05Speaker 4: They're as happy as they can be. They're Cloud nine.
- 57:08Speaker 4: And then all of a sudden, what.
- 57:10Speaker 6: We'll just make the conference championship, make it mean more
- 57:13Speaker 6: than than the bowl game. And really they do, like
- 57:15Speaker 6: you said, they have, they've elevated those But.
- 57:18Speaker 3: I think that situation with I think that situation with
- 57:21Speaker 3: Marshall was they shouldn't have got they shouldn't have find
- 57:23Speaker 3: I don't agree with that, but be.
- 57:25Speaker 4: A senior, be a senior in that situation. It is
- 57:29Speaker 4: what it is.
- 57:30Speaker 3: You got a conference championship. I mean, that's just that's
- 57:33Speaker 3: just terrible, you know. All right, Well, well before we go,
- 57:37Speaker 3: I just want to talk about I know, I know
- 57:40Speaker 3: a lot of people don't are watching baseball now, but
- 57:42Speaker 3: baseball just had their Hall of Fame inductees. So they
- 57:45Speaker 3: each you Roll King, Griffy Junior or Derek Jeter, they
- 57:47Speaker 3: all went in. That's a huge class, huge class. None
- 57:50Speaker 3: of them went in unanimous. So all of them have
- 57:53Speaker 3: people who said they shouldn't get in. And it's just
- 57:55Speaker 3: really and it just begs the question. This is just
- 57:58Speaker 3: everything is wrong with baseball. Everything that's wrong with baseball,
- 58:03Speaker 3: the people who cover baseball. This is just a micro
- 58:06Speaker 3: cosm of that. How does Derek Jeter, or King Virginia
- 58:10Speaker 3: or each year Row who was just phenomenal a leadoff man,
- 58:14Speaker 3: he did everything great in the field, great, great at
- 58:17Speaker 3: the plate, did all of the green Kinging virginr a legend,
- 58:20Speaker 3: Derek Jeter the captain, how do they not get in
- 58:23Speaker 3: just with with everybody unanimously. And then we still have
- 58:27Speaker 3: guys like Barry Bonds who ain't getting in. It's just
- 58:29Speaker 3: Mark McGuire, he ain't getting in. It's just ridiculous in baseball.
- 58:32Speaker 3: This is why nobody watches baseball. Well, conversation I had today.
- 58:39Speaker 3: All right, there's a buddy of mine, Henry Thomas, who
- 58:43Speaker 3: has the most sacks period of.
- 58:47Speaker 4: A nose tackle.
- 58:48Speaker 3: Okay, he was he got nominated for the Hall of Fame, Okay,
- 58:54Speaker 3: n NFL Hall of Fame and he's not in the
- 59:00Speaker 3: Vikings Ring of Honor. So so you know what I'm saying. Now,
- 59:08Speaker 3: I've said out loud my last award that I would
- 59:13Speaker 3: hope to make would be the Ring of Honor for
- 59:14Speaker 3: the Vikings. Now people say people have said, you know, oh,
- 59:19Speaker 3: he's one of the best corners ever. Well, the other
- 59:23Speaker 3: guy who is this does make the case. He is
- 59:26Speaker 3: the corner. He went in last year. Okay, I got
- 59:32Speaker 3: I can't. There's nothing for me to argue about him
- 59:35Speaker 3: going in. But when when you.
- 59:39Speaker 4: Got a guy who is is suspecting to go into
- 59:43Speaker 4: or is voting people are voting.
- 59:45Speaker 3: On him to go into the NFL Hall of Fame
- 59:49Speaker 3: and he ain't on your wall.
- 59:52Speaker 5: Yeah, that makes no sense.
- 59:53Speaker 4: How does that work?
- 59:55Speaker 3: I just don't know that people who vote for these
- 59:57Speaker 3: type of things, it just needs to be at the doctors,
- 59:59Speaker 3: give us the computer. That's exactly what that That was
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: The conversation that I had was like, who's voting?
- 1:00:04Speaker 4: Whose vote?
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: And what's interesting about it is nobody talks about it, Nobody.
- 1:00:09Speaker 5: Says, nobody questions.
- 1:00:10Speaker 3: Nobody questions that. Well, I think the question, but it's
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: like that they talk about, who do you go to?
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying. It's like you, you as the
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: person who's on the on the line, whether you're going
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: to get in or not, you don't want to talk
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: about it.
- 1:00:21Speaker 4: That's kind of sort of in bad taste.
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: But at the same time, we gotta start talking about
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: it because the people who are voting this, whether it's
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: baseball or stuff, like you know, the Ring of Art,
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: what you're talking about, just like what are you doing?
- 1:00:31Speaker 4: Like who is there a committee that what are you doing?
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: We just had one corner go for for as long
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: as they've had the Ring of Honor. The first corner
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: went last year or two years ago. Maybe should you
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: have been the first corner?
- 1:00:45Speaker 4: No, I don't. I don't think you know.
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: Bobby Bryant was the was the guy, and he he
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: was a great player. He was the first great corner
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: that prior to your, prior, prior to my era that
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: they had.
- 1:00:57Speaker 4: So I'm good, like I'm you know, I was good.
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: With that perfectly, Like I didn't feel like I deserved
- 1:01:02Speaker 3: to go before him.
- 1:01:05Speaker 8: But when you start naming players that are your best,
- 1:01:08Speaker 8: when you say they're the best player, when you start
- 1:01:12Speaker 8: talking about or you start reading about them in potential
- 1:01:15Speaker 8: Hall of Fame conversation getting voted that.
- 1:01:20Speaker 4: Ship to prompt you, prompt you to say, Okay, we
- 1:01:22Speaker 4: gotta get this guy.
- 1:01:23Speaker 3: We gotta get this guy in, and and and I'll
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: make the case that you know, I'm that dude who
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: can who can destroy his own opportunity to get in,
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: because I'm the guy who's always saying, like I have
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: no problem saying if you're telling me and in my
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: stats say, all I'm saying is I got to be
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: up for at least at least I want to be
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: say somebody, somebody's voting for me, you know. But I
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: think all institutions need to have that commit And again
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: I'll and I'll take this even academic right now.
- 1:01:56Speaker 4: I think when we talk about Catherine Johnson, right.
- 1:01:59Speaker 3: It took aim movie for State to fully celebrate her
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: in her glory, right, it shouldn't take that. And I
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: think that every institution, particularly when you talk about those
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: major institution where it's NFL team or whatever, they need
- 1:02:13Speaker 3: to have a committee of people who are looking at
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: the history and figure out who needs to go where,
- 1:02:18Speaker 3: you know what I mean. So that way and at
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: the very least. It could be transparent and it could
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: be a full process.
- 1:02:25Speaker 4: Well what happens.
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: What happens too is all of a sudden when you
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: get new coaches in, you get new organ you know
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: this this position, in that position, you get new people
- 1:02:36Speaker 3: forget who don't know the history. They're looking only so
- 1:02:39Speaker 3: far back. But it needs to be like a committee.
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: That's like, even if it's just a board, I think
- 1:02:46Speaker 3: you go and you remove everybody, and you make and
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: you get you put one person in charge of it,
- 1:02:52Speaker 3: and you get all players from who have made the ring.
- 1:02:58Speaker 4: Nah, because they're not looking at the history.
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: And I think that's the problem with like the Heisman,
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: and that's the problem with like even like the Baseball
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: Hall of Fame. You know what I'm saying, You have
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: to get a committee who dedicated to looking at the
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: totality of that organization, and not only just because because
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: it's easy just to look at stats, but because we
- 1:03:14Speaker 3: can look at the stats. But what did you mean
- 1:03:16Speaker 3: to the organization? Well, and well here's the other thing
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: about stats. Right, you use the stats to qualify that
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: player as being a fact, as a great player.
- 1:03:26Speaker 4: Right, you use him for that.
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: And we just got to notice that we've got to go.
- 1:03:34Speaker 4: But I'm just making a case.
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: That you know, I just think that you know, the
- 1:03:39Speaker 3: whole that type of thing, rings of honor, I think
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: I think all of that is done wrong, and it's
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: behind doors.
- 1:03:45Speaker 4: Ladies and gentlemen. We were over our time, so we
- 1:03:48Speaker 4: got to get out of here. Alrighty, We're going.
