- 3:10We want you more, Father. We love you more, Father, than
- 3:14anything. We love you more than our own

- 3:25than the comfort, more God than anything else that we've ever
- 3:28experienced. You are the top tier everything.
- 3:32You're the highest, loftiest God.
- 3:34And we set our eyes upon you, upon Zion, God, and we press
- 3:38towards you. Lord, we thank you, God, for the
- 3:41reality that you are here. Let us step into the bridal
- 3:44identity today. God, you are Yahweh, everlasting
- 3:51Lord, you're the Alpha, the Omega, You're the beginning,
- 3:54you're the end, You're here in the middle.
- 3:56God, we invite you in. Father, come in like a mighty
- 4:00rushing wind. God Almighty, thank you Jesus
- 4:11holy glory worthy Maranatha spirit and the bride say come
- 4:20show up today, show off today, teach us today.
- 4:25Holy Spirit, I get out of the way, I decrease you increase in
- 4:30Jesus Christ holy precious powerful name.
- 4:34I pray in. Let's start in verse one.
- 4:42And the famine was sore in the land.
- 4:46What's he talking about here? Well, we know that old Joseph
- 4:50was sent down into Egypt and he had the ability to tell Pharaoh
- 4:54what his dream meant. And he knew that there was going
- 4:56to be 7 years of prosperity and seven years of famine.
- 5:01And they've already got all of the grain stored up and now
- 5:05they're in the second year. And we already know in the first
- 5:08year that the Israelites came down into Egypt to buy some
- 5:12bread. And he told them that they could
- 5:14not come back and do any kind of trafficking business in the land
- 5:19without bringing their little brother Benjamin down.
- 5:21Let's see how it goes. 2 And it came to pass.
- 5:26When they had eaten up the corn which they had brought out of
- 5:29Egypt, their father said unto them, Go again and buy us a
- 5:32little food. So perhaps old Jacob, who was
- 5:36unwilling to let Benjamin go, thought that they could make it
- 5:39with the little bit of supplies that they brought back on the
- 5:42first trip. Perhaps that it had gone on too
- 5:45long, and now he was trying to figure out how they were going
- 5:48to survive. He cared nothing for Simeon, who
- 5:50was in the prison there, but he was just unwilling to let the
- 5:54child of the love of his life, Rachel, who he had borne.
- 5:58He'd already lost Joseph, who was the son born with her.
- 6:02And you can see here that God's going to get a hold of him, this
- 6:06wrestling match that we get to look at and take part of and
- 6:10see. 3 And Judas spoke unto him, saying, The man did solemnly
- 6:16protest unto us, saying, You shall not see my face except
- 6:20your brother be with you. So this man, little did they
- 6:23know, this was Joseph. For if you will send our brother
- 6:26with us, we will go down and buy you food.
- 6:29So here Judah speaks up and isn't it just like the Messiah,
- 6:33the lineage of our Jesus Christ, the Messiah, the Savior of the
- 6:36world. You can see the genealogy traced
- 6:39all the way back up here to Judah, the Lion of Judah.
- 6:42You can see him speak up and speak out, and you can see him
- 6:45take an active role in what God has for the Israelites.
- 6:51But if you will not send him, we will not go down.
- 6:55For the man said to us, You shall not see my face except
- 6:58your brother be with you. 6 And Israel said, why do you deal?
- 7:03So I'll with me as to tell the man whether you had yet a
- 7:08brother. So here Jacob's belly aching to
- 7:11Judah and to the brothers, and he's saying, why did you even
- 7:14tell him that Benjamin was here and alive?
- 7:17And why did you tell him that he wasn't with you?
- 7:207 And they said, the man asked us straightly of our state of
- 7:25our kindred saying, is your father still alive and have you
- 7:30another brother? And we told him according to the
- 7:33tenor of these words, could we certainly know that he would
- 7:37say, bring your brother down. So here you need to know
- 7:40something. Anytime that the Israelites are
- 7:42going down, down, down into Egypt, it's sin, friends.
- 7:45It's always sin. But you can see here God has a
- 7:48plan. And you can also see that they
- 7:51did not want to admit that Benjamin was alive, but you
- 7:54could see that Joseph was the one who was prodding.
- 7:58He was the one pulling these things out of them.
- 8:01And you know that it is true whenever you see Joseph asking
- 8:04these questions that are so personal that they had no idea
- 8:08that it was Joseph. But Joseph knew that they
- 8:11already had a brother. Joseph knew and wanted to know
- 8:13if Jacob was still alive. 8 And Judah said unto Israel, Send the
- 8:19lad with me, and we'll arise and go, and we may live and not die,
- 8:23both we and you, and also our little ones.
- 8:25So he's saying Unless you send Benjamin with us, we're all
- 8:28going to die, our families included. 9 And I will be surety
- 8:33for him of my hands. Shall you require him?
- 8:36If I bring him not to you and set him before you, then let me
- 8:40bear the blame forever. So old Judah speaking up and
- 8:43he's saying I will be a surety for him.
- 8:46And that is what Jesus Christ did.
- 8:48Judas stepping into this messianic role and Jesus Christ
- 8:52is the surety for us and he lives forever to make
- 8:55intercession for us. And he tells the Father, this
- 8:57one is mine and he's going to bring us into the fold.
- 9:00Don't forget it. 10 For except we had lingered, surely now we
- 9:04had returned the second time. So he's saying, if you would
- 9:07have let us go with Benjamin, we would already been back by now.
- 9:1111 And the father Israel said to them, if it must be so now do
- 9:16this. Take the best fruits in the land
- 9:18and your vessels, and carry down the man a present, a little balm
- 9:22and a little honey, spices, MERS, nuts and almonds. 12 And
- 9:26take double money in your hand, and the money that was brought
- 9:29again in the mouth of your sacks, carry it again in your
- 9:32hand. Maybe it was an oversight.
- 9:36So you can see here that whenever Jacob was trying to win
- 9:40Esau over, he gave them all the gifts of the land.
- 9:43And here he is going back and relegating himself, thinking
- 9:46that this is the way to approach this mysterious man down in
- 9:50Egypt that he did not know was his son Joseph.
- 9:53And God was orchestrating all of these things.
- 9:56Let's see how it goes. 13 Take also your brother and arise, go
- 10:01again to the man. So finally God got a hold of him
- 10:04and won the wrestling match. And you can see here, Jacob had
- 10:07no other option. So he sent little Benjamin down
- 10:10with his brothers. 14 And God Almighty give you mercy before
- 10:14the man, that he may send away your other brother.
- 10:17And Benjamin, if I be bereaved of my children, I am bereaved.
- 10:21So this is the fatalistic mindset that Jacob has.
- 10:24He's saying, OK, whatever happens happens, I'll probably
- 10:28be bereaved and go down to death of my Gray hair and I'll be in
- 10:33grief. 15 And the men took that present, and they took double
- 10:38the money in their hand, and Benjamin and rose up and went
- 10:41down to Egypt and stood before Joseph.
- 10:44What an amazing thought, friends.
- 10:45You can see these brothers all standing before Joseph and the
- 10:5012 brothers all reunited back in the same place.
- 10:54And this is the lineage. These are the 12 tribes that
- 10:57Israel still to this very day are based upon.
- 11:01Friends, what an amazing thought that God's plans and purposes
- 11:05will always come to fruition and you can't do nothing about it.
- 11:08You can't destroy it. You can't put it by the wayside,
- 11:11you can't relegate it. You can't try to invent new ways
- 11:15of getting rid of them. Friends, it is going to stand
- 11:18the test of time, that country, that nation, that lineage, that
- 11:21genealogy, the Jews themselves, friends will be there all the
- 11:26way in the end. Never forget that. 16 And when
- 11:30Joseph saw Benjamin with them, he said to the ruler of his
- 11:33house, Bring these men home and slay, and make ready, for these
- 11:37men shall dine with me at noon. So he's going to tell them to go
- 11:41and prepare a feast, and he's going to come and dine with
- 11:44them, just like Jesus does with. 17 And the man did as Joseph
- 11:49told him to, and the man brought the men into Joseph's house. 18
- 11:53And the men were afraid because they were brought into Joseph's
- 11:56house. And they said because of the
- 11:57money that was returned in our sacks at the first time are we
- 12:01brought in, that he may be, may seek occasion against us and
- 12:06fall upon us and take us for bond men and our donkeys.
- 12:10So they're worried about their livestock and they're worried
- 12:12about their own lives, trying to save their own skin, thinking
- 12:16because of the money that they did not pay for the grain the
- 12:19first time that he is trying to get them pigeonholed, get them
- 12:23into a trap so that he can fall upon them and kill them.
- 12:27They're operating in the spirit of fear, friends. 19 And they
- 12:31came near the steward of the of Joseph's house, and they
- 12:34communed with him at the door of his house, 20 and said, oh, Sir,
- 12:37we came indeed down the first time to buy food. 21 And it came
- 12:42to pass, when we came to the end that we owe, opened our sacks,
- 12:46and behold, every man's money was in the mouth of his sack.
- 12:50Our money in full weight, and we have brought it again in our
- 12:53hand. They're saying we're going to
- 12:54return the money that we accidentally took with us.
- 12:57We did not know that we didn't pay for the grain the first
- 13:00time. 22 And the other money we have brought down in our hands
- 13:05to buy food, we cannot tell who put our money in our sacks.
- 13:09So they're saying we're we are not only willing to return the
- 13:12money for the grain for the first time, but we also brought
- 13:15enough money to buy again. So we have returned double the
- 13:18money. 23 And he said, peace be to you if you're not your God,
- 13:27God of your father has given you treasure in your sacks.
- 13:33I had your money. And he brought Simeon out to
- 13:37them. So look at this.
- 13:38Here comes Simeon out of the prison.
- 13:41We could see that this steward of the house who's standing
- 13:43there, who keeps Joseph's house, you can see that he calmed them
- 13:48down and said, God Almighty is the one who's orchestrating all
- 13:53these events. Calm down.
- 13:55Here's your brother Simeon. 24 The man brought the men into
- 13:59Joseph's house and gave them water, and they washed their
- 14:03feet, and he gave their donkeys food. 25 And they made ready.
- 14:09The present against Joseph came at noon, for they heard that
- 14:13they should eat bread there. So they got together the honey
- 14:17and the myrrh. They got together the spices out
- 14:20of the land of Canaan to present unto this mysterious man. 26 And
- 14:27when Joseph came home, they brought him the present, which
- 14:30was in their hand into the house, and they bowed themselves
- 14:34to him, to the earth. Look at how many times the dream
- 14:37of little Joseph, whatever he told them, that they would bow
- 14:42down to him. Look how many times it's
- 14:45actually happened. Look at all the times that this
- 14:48dream has been fulfilled. 27 And he asked them of their welfare,
- 14:54and said, Is your father well? The old man of whom you spoke,
- 14:58is he yet alive? So he has not revealed to them
- 15:01that he is their brother just yet.
- 15:03But he is very curious about Jacob.
- 15:05He wants to know, is Jacob still alive and well?
- 15:1128 And they answered, Your servant, our father, is in good
- 15:15health, he is yet alive. And they bowed down their heads
- 15:19and made obedience. So here you can see that they
- 15:23are giving him all the reverence and respect of someone in a high
- 15:27position. 29 And he lifted up his eyes and saw his brother
- 15:32Benjamin, his mother's son, and said, Is this your younger
- 15:35brother of whom you spoke to me? And he said, God, be gracious
- 15:39unto you, my son. So here's a very emotional
- 15:45moment for Joseph. He's getting to see the little
- 15:49brother that he never really got to have a relationship with for
- 15:54the first time. It's been 20.
- 15:57It's been over 20 years since he's seen this little guy. 30
- 16:06And Joseph made haste for his bowels did yearn upon his
- 16:10brother, and he sought where to weep.
- 16:12And he entered into his chamber and he wept there.
- 16:15He excused himself out of the moment and he went into his room
- 16:18and he wept in the room because of he was overwhelmed with the
- 16:23emotions of getting to meet his little brother.
- 16:26But he was not able in this moment just yet to reveal that
- 16:30he was his older brother, 31. And he washed his face and he
- 16:36went out and refrained himself. And he said set on bread.
- 16:41So he says, put on the meal, let's get with it. 32 And they
- 16:46set on for him by himself, and for them by themselves, and for
- 16:51the Egyptians which did eat with him by themselves, because the
- 16:55Egyptians might not eat bread with the Hebrews, for that is an
- 16:59abomination unto the Egyptians. This is a pivotal key moment,
- 17:04friends, you need to lock in, you need to really pay attention
- 17:07to what I'm about to tell you. This is the all sufficient
- 17:12knowledge of God Almighty who knows everything and is
- 17:16orchestrating the entire event. You can see here from this
- 17:20little verse, verse 32. Underline it, highlight it,
- 17:23circle it, friends, write it in the margin of your Bible that
- 17:28this is the entire reason that God is taking them out of the
- 17:32land of Canaan where they were assimilating into the people
- 17:36group and would have dissolved and would have been nothing.
- 17:41And he's going to take 70 people and turn them into over 2
- 17:45million because of this one little tiny verse that if you do
- 17:49not look at it and study it and highlight it, you're going to
- 17:52miss the whole point of the whole matter, friends.
- 17:55And he told Abraham all the way back in Genesis chapter 12, he
- 18:01told Abraham that there was going to be this horror of them
- 18:07having to go into another land and they were going to be
- 18:10servants, but he was going to make them strong.
- 18:13And that is what the whole verse right here in 32 right here is
- 18:17telling us. Because you can see that this
- 18:20Egyptian culture was segregated and they thought of themselves
- 18:25as being descended from the gods and they would not intermingle
- 18:30in with the Hebrews. And so the Hebrews were free to
- 18:35operate and repopulate. They were free to become
- 18:38stronger and stronger and stronger.
- 18:41And we're going to read later that they were actually a threat
- 18:45unto the Egyptians because they were getting so strong.
- 18:49And that is whenever the Pharaoh is going to tell the midwives to
- 18:53take the babies out whenever, before they ever come into the
- 18:56world, friends, And you're going to see it.
- 18:58And it is God's most magnificent knowledge and all of the wisdom
- 19:03that he has that he would send them down for 400 years to grow
- 19:08stronger and stronger and stronger.
- 19:10And look at where we're at today.
- 19:12They are one of the mightiest military people on planet Earth.
- 19:16Friends. There are miracles breaking out
- 19:19even this day for the Jews. God is still fighting their
- 19:23battles for them. He's still orchestrating it all,
- 19:26and we're going to see it come to fruition in the end.
- 19:30They're going to admit that Jesus Christ is their Messiah,
- 19:34and we're going to get to see a snapshot of what that looks like
- 19:37here in a minute when Joseph reveals himself.
- 19:40And this is very indicative of what it looks like for Jesus
- 19:45Christ to be in the midst of the Jews, and for the Jews not to
- 19:49recognize him. 33 And they sat before him, the first born
- 19:54according to his birthright, and the youngest according to his
- 19:58youth. And the men marvelled one at
- 20:00another. So think about it for a second
- 20:02here. This mysterious man somehow
- 20:04knows who's the oldest and who's the youngest, and he sets them
- 20:09at the table in order from oldest to youngest.
- 20:13And they all looked around at each other and thought, What in
- 20:16the world just happened? Well, in Dome 34 and he took and
- 20:21sent messes unto them from before him, but Benjamin's mess
- 20:24was five times so much as any of theirs, and they drank and were
- 20:29merry with him. So here's another little
- 20:31snapshot that you need to understand.
- 20:34At the very end of this chapter, God gives us a little marker of
- 20:39what this is all about. Here Joseph is testing them
- 20:46because Benjamin is being favored more than them.
- 20:51He wanted to see how the brothers would react because
- 20:58over 20 years before this they were very jealous of the brother
- 21:04who was getting all the attention from the father and
- 21:08was getting the extra. And it must have been very
- 21:12hurtful to the 10 other brothers to watch Joseph have this
- 21:17special attention. And now Joseph wanted to see if
- 21:21their hearts had changed in the course of the time.
- 21:25And you can see here that they have because they make no
- 21:29grumbling, murmuring about Benjamin getting five times as
- 21:33much as the rest of them. What an amazing God we serve.
- 21:37I hope you've been blessed by this amazing chapter in God's
- 21:40Word. I know I sure have.
- 21:41I'm praying for every single one of you.
- 21:44I love you. And we'll see you back here
- 21:45tomorrow. God bless she.
