The Most Transparent Administration? The Epstein Files Say Otherwise (Part 2) (9/11/26) · The Epstein Chronicles

Speaker 1: What's up everyone and welcome to another episode of the
• 0:03
Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. In this episode we're going to pick up
• 0:06
Speaker 1: where we left off, talking about the Trump administration, transparency,
• 0:11
Speaker 1: and the influencers. These people built audiences by convincing followers
• 0:17
Speaker 1: that they were outsiders digging into government corruption. They presented
• 0:21
Speaker 1: themselves as the people willing to tell you what Washington
• 0:24
Speaker 1: did not want you to know. Then one of the
• 0:26
Speaker 1: biggest names in that ecosystem turns out to be literally
• 0:29
Speaker 1: working in the inside the federal government. Yo, you can't
• 0:32
Speaker 1: make this shit up. The account screaming about the deep
• 0:35
Speaker 1: state ends up drawing a government paycheck? The supposedly independent
• 0:39
Speaker 1: investigator turns out to have a formal relationship with the
• 0:43
Speaker 1: same government her audience believes she's watching from the outside.
• 0:47
Speaker 1: Then I'm expected to treat her commentary about one of
• 0:50
Speaker 1: the most politically dangerous scandals facing the administration as though
• 0:54
Speaker 1: none of that matters? Yeah, bullshits. If your entire brand
• 0:58
Speaker 1: is built on exposing hidden government relationships, maybe, maybe, disclose
• 1:03
Speaker 1: your own government relationship before lecturing everybody else about hidden
• 1:07
Speaker 1: government relationships. And look, Data Republican is not the only
• 1:11
Speaker 1: reason this bothers me. The Washington Post reported that the
• 1:14
Speaker 1: Pentagon brought multiple conservative military influencers into civilian government roles,
• 1:20
Speaker 1: including people serving as special government employees and highly qualified experts.
• 1:26
Speaker 1: That ought to get everybody's attention before we even mention Epstein.
• 1:30
Speaker 1: We live in an age where political influence is increasingly
• 1:33
Speaker 1: exercised through accounts that look informal, independent, and grassroots. People
• 1:38
Speaker 1: trust those voices precisely because they do not appear to
• 1:42
Speaker 1: be government spokesmen standing behind a podium. Give those same
• 1:46
Speaker 1: people government roles while they remain active participants in the
• 1:49
Speaker 1: political information war and the line gets muddy as hell.
• 1:53
Speaker 1: Then drop Jeffrey Epstein into that environment. Now you have
• 1:57
Speaker 1: accounts defending the administration's handling of one of the most
• 2:00
Speaker 1: radioactive scandals in modern American history, while government relationships are
• 2:05
Speaker 1: sitting in the background. I don't need somebody in Washington
• 2:08
Speaker 1: to tell me whether I'm allowed to find that disturbing.
• 2:12
Speaker 1: I was calling bullshit on these people before any of
• 2:14
Speaker 1: this came out. I watched the way they moved. I
• 2:17
Speaker 1: watched how quickly skepticism disappeared when skepticism became inconvenient for Trump.
• 2:22
Speaker 1: I watched supposedly anti-establishment accounts suddenly discover and almost religious
• 2:27
Speaker 1: faith in the Justice Department when the subject turned to Epstein.
• 2:32
Speaker 1: I watched people who built entire brands around distrusting the
• 2:35
Speaker 1: government tell everybody else that this was the one time
• 2:39
Speaker 1: we should take the government's word for it. And that
• 2:41
Speaker 1: was the giveaway for me. You can't spend years telling
• 2:45
Speaker 1: your audience that Washington lies, intelligence agencies manipulate people, bureaucracies
• 2:50
Speaker 1: protect themselves, and powerful institutions cannot be trusted. and then
• 2:55
Speaker 1: suddenly turn into fucking Woodrow Wilson when Donald Trump tells
• 2:58
Speaker 1: you the Epstein matter is finished. Either institutional skepticism means something,
• 3:03
Speaker 1: or it does not. Apparently for some people, it means
• 3:06
Speaker 1: whatever is politically useful that morning. And Trump has created
• 3:10
Speaker 1: a political environment where loyalty to him has become more
• 3:13
Speaker 1: important than consistency for a huge chunk of his online ecosystem.
• 3:18
Speaker 1: You can watch the position change almost in real time.
• 3:21
Speaker 1: One day Epstein is proof of elite corruption, and everybody
• 3:24
Speaker 1: must demand answers. The next day, Trump is sick of
• 3:27
Speaker 1: hearing about it, and suddenly, anybody that's still asking questions
• 3:31
Speaker 1: is helping his enemies. Nothing about the underlying evidence changed overnight.
• 3:35
Speaker 1: The political incentives changed. That's all it took. People who
• 3:39
Speaker 1: spent years telling everybody to question authority suddenly found an
• 3:43
Speaker 1: authority they did not want to question. And the same
• 3:46
Speaker 1: crowd that screamed about government secrecy discovered a newfound appreciation
• 3:50
Speaker 1: for classified material and prosecutorial discretion. And watching that transformation
• 3:55
Speaker 1: has been one of the most pathetic things I've seen
• 3:57
Speaker 1: in all the years that I've covered this case. And look,
• 4:01
Speaker 1: I don't give a shit whether the politician involved has
• 4:03
  Speaker 1: an R or a D next to his name. I
• 4:06
Speaker 1: didn't spend years covering Epstein so I could eventually become
• 4:09
Speaker 1: a cheerleader for whichever political team happened to occupy the
• 4:12
Speaker 1: White House. I was here before this administration decided Epstein
• 4:16
Speaker 1: was inconvenient. I was here before half these influencers discovered
• 4:20
Speaker 1: there was money and attention to be made talking about him.
• 4:23
Speaker 1: I was digging through this shit when plenty of these
• 4:25
Speaker 1: people could not have picked Jeffrey Epstein out of a lineup.
• 4:29
Speaker 1: My position has not changed because the occupant of the
• 4:32
Speaker 1: White House changed. Release the information. Investigate the associates. Follow
• 4:36
Speaker 1: the money. Help investigators who are willing to do the work.
• 4:40
Speaker 1: And stop asking the public to lower its expectations because
• 4:44
Speaker 1: accountability suddenly becomes politically uncomfortable. I've watched survivors carry this
• 4:50
Speaker 1: burden while powerful institutions treated the scandal like a fucking inconvenience.
• 4:55
Speaker 1: I've watched people with money hire armies of lawyers while
• 4:58
Speaker 1: survivors had to fight simply to be heard. I've watched
• 5:01
Speaker 1: banks write enormous checks to settle Epstein-related litigation while politicians
• 5:05
Speaker 1: argue over the underlying scandal or if it's somehow exaggerated.
• 5:10
Speaker 1: I've watched records get sealed, names get fought over, documents
• 5:14
Speaker 1: get withheld, and every new disclosure treated like an isolated
• 5:18
Speaker 1: event instead of another piece of a story that's been
• 5:21
Speaker 1: unfolding for decades. Then the government tells us it finally
• 5:25
Speaker 1: delivered transparency. European investigators ask for help and wait. Influencers
• 5:31
Speaker 1: echoing the government's line turn out to have government relationships.
• 5:35
Speaker 1: Politicians tell us to move on. Forgive me if I'm
• 5:39
Speaker 1: fresh out of fucking benefit of the doubt. Because I
• 5:42
Speaker 1: keep coming back to one simple question. What are we
• 5:45
Speaker 1: afraid of finding out? Seriously, what's so dangerous about letting
• 5:48
Speaker 1: investigators investigate Epstein? If Poland wants records connected to Polish citizens,
• 5:54
Speaker 1: send them. If Latvia has identified a victim and needs
• 5:58
Speaker 1: American evidence, help them. If Norwegian prosecutors believe American records
• 6:03
Speaker 1: matter to their cases, work with them. If British investigators
• 6:07
Speaker 1: need unredacted documents for a legitimate criminal inquiry, give them
• 6:11
Speaker 1: what the law allows them to have. The government acts
• 6:15
Speaker 1: like transparency is some extraordinary favor being bestowed on the
• 6:18
Speaker 1: public from Mount Olympus. These records were produced by institutions
• 6:23
Speaker 1: funded by taxpayers investigating crimes committed against human beings. Accountability
• 6:29
Speaker 1: is not a gift from the government to us. It's
• 6:31
Speaker 1: the fucking government's job. And you can call what's happening
• 6:34
Speaker 1: whatever you want. Call it bureaucratic paralysis if that makes
• 6:37
Speaker 1: you sleep better. Call it institutional cowardice. Political self-preservation. call
• 6:42
Speaker 1: it a government trying desperately to put a lid back
• 6:44
Speaker 1: on a story that refuses to stay buried. I call
• 6:48
Speaker 1: it a cover-up because that's what this pattern looks like
• 6:50
Speaker 1: to me. I see a government declaring the matter effectively
• 6:54
Speaker 1: exhausted while investigators overseas are still digging. I see allied
• 6:58
Speaker 1: countries asking America for evidence and waiting for answers. I
• 7:03
Speaker 1: see supposedly independent political voices repeating the government's preferred narrative
• 7:08
Speaker 1: while previously undisclosed government relationships emerge around that same influencer ecosystem.
• 7:14
Speaker 1: At some point, I'm allowed to add 2 plus 2
• 7:17
Speaker 1: without asking permission from Washington. And the people carrying water
• 7:21
Speaker 1: for this administration can call me whatever the hell they want.
• 7:25
Speaker 1: Conspiracy theorist has been thrown around so often in the
• 7:27
Speaker 1: Epstein story that the word barely has any meaning left.
• 7:31
Speaker 1: I've been watching institutions get embarrassed by facts they previously
• 7:35
Speaker 1: told people not to worry about for years. Every time
• 7:38
Speaker 1: another document surfaces, another relationship is exposed, another settlement is reached,
• 7:43
Speaker 1: or another government decides something warrants investigation, the people demanding
• 7:48
Speaker 1: answers are expected to forget everything that came before it.
• 7:52
Speaker 1: And yo, I'm done playing that game. I'm not forgetting
• 7:54
Speaker 1: the sweetheart deal, the survivors who had to fight the
• 7:57
Speaker 1: government itself to be heard. I'm not forgetting financial institutions
• 8:01
Speaker 1: that kept doing business with Epstein. And I'm damn sure
• 8:04
Speaker 1: not going to forget which people suddenly decided Jeffrey Epstein
• 8:07
Speaker 1: was a hoax the moment asking questions became inconvenient for
• 8:10
Speaker 1: Donald Trump. So spare me the speeches about historic transparency.
• 8:15
Speaker 1: Spare me the self-congratulation. Spare me the influencers pretending they're
• 8:20
Speaker 1: fearless outsiders while government credentials and government jobs keep turning
• 8:24
Speaker 1: up behind the curtain. And spare me the argument that
• 8:28
Speaker 1: asking questions is somehow more dangerous than refusing to answer them.
• 8:32
Speaker 1: Epstein spent years surrounded by powerful people who benefited from
• 8:36
Speaker 1: a world where nobody looked too closely at what he
• 8:38
Speaker 1: was doing. His survivors paid the price for that silence,
• 8:42
Speaker 1: and the public has spent years paying the price for
• 8:45
Speaker 1: institutional cowardice and secrecy. Now allied governments are trying to
• 8:50
Speaker 1: investigate pieces of the story, and America should be helping
• 8:53
Speaker 1: them kick every damn door open. If this administration truly
• 8:56
Speaker 1: wants to be remembered as the most transparent in history,
• 8:59
Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein is its chance to prove it. Until that happens,
• 9:03
Speaker 1: they can call it transparency all they want, but I
• 9:06
Speaker 1: know a locked fucking door when I see one. And
• 9:09
Speaker 1: for me, one of the ugliest parts of all of
• 9:11
Speaker 1: this is how comfortable everybody has gotten with the idea
• 9:14
Speaker 1: that the truth is negotiable. If the truth helps your side,
• 9:18
Speaker 1: scream it from the rooftops. If it hurts your side,
• 9:20
Speaker 1: bury it, classify it, redact it, and mock the people
• 9:24
Speaker 1: asking for it. And send the influencers out to tell
• 9:27
Speaker 1: everybody there's nothing to see. I don't call that justice.
• 9:30
Speaker 1: I call that tribal bullshit. Jeffrey Epstein should have been
• 9:34
Speaker 1: the subject where everybody agreed that party loyalty gets checked
• 9:37
Speaker 1: at the door. Instead, the exact opposite has happened. The
• 9:41
Speaker 1: second the facts became politically inconvenient, people who spent years
• 9:45
Speaker 1: demanding accountability suddenly discovered a million reasons why accountability could wait.
• 9:50
Speaker 1: And look, survivors don't have the luxury of changing their principles.
• 9:54
Speaker 1: Every election cycle, neither does the truth. And if your
• 9:57
Speaker 1: loyalty to Donald Trump, the Republican Party... the DOJ or
• 10:01
Speaker 1: some influencer with a blue checkmark matters more to you
• 10:04
Speaker 1: than finding out what happened to traffic girls and who
• 10:07
Speaker 1: helped make it possible then you were never interested in
• 10:09
Speaker 1: justice in the first place somewhere along the way millions
• 10:14
Speaker 1: of Americans convinced themselves that protecting their political identity was
• 10:18
Speaker 1: more important than protecting the truth Oh, they'll scream about
• 10:21
Speaker 1: corruption right up until the corruption points towards somebody they like.
• 10:24
Speaker 1: They'll demand transparency right up until transparency becomes uncomfortable. They'll
• 10:29
Speaker 1: tell survivors they matter right up until those survivors become
• 10:33
Speaker 1: inconvenient to the narrative. Then they'll look away, make excuses,
• 10:37
Speaker 1: and call everybody still asking questions crazy. Epstein spent his
• 10:41
Speaker 1: entire adult life betting that powerful people would choose self-preservation
• 10:46
Speaker 1: over decency, and for a long fucking time, he was right.
• 10:50
Speaker 1: The most terrifying part is that even after he is dead,
• 10:53
Speaker 1: even after everything we know, even after all the victims
• 10:57
Speaker 1: and all the lies, too many people are still proving
• 11:00
Speaker 1: him right. And that is not just a failure of government.
• 11:04
Speaker 1: That's a failure of all of us. All the information
• 11:08
Speaker 1: that goes with this episode can be found in the
• 11:11
  Speaker 1: description box.
