- 0:02Speaker 1: This is an Unspoiled Network podcast. This is spoil Me,
- 0:08Speaker 1: covering one Piece episodes sixty one through six sixty three,
- 0:15Speaker 1: a showdown between the warlords Law versus do Flamingo. Two
- 0:20Speaker 1: great rivals meet each other. Straw Hat and Heavenly Demon
- 0:25Speaker 1: and Loofy astonished. The man who inherits Ace's will I
- 0:32Speaker 1: think probably that's not a great translation, and it's supposed
- 0:35Speaker 1: to be more like inherits his legacy, But you know,
- 0:39Speaker 1: it's fine. In these episodes, it turns out that Sabo
- 0:45Speaker 1: is alive, and I am so delighted. You guys, I'm
- 0:49Speaker 1: so pleased. I really wasn't sure. I kind of theorized,
- 0:54Speaker 1: but I also it's been a while, you know, and
- 1:00Speaker 1: just we need some good news for our guys. That's
- 1:03Speaker 1: really what it comes down to. For me. It's been grim.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Welcome to spoil Me. Welcome to the show everyone. I
- 1:29Speaker 1: am Natasha. Thank you so much to Florian for commissioning
- 1:33Speaker 1: this episode. Florian is here in the chat and thankfully
- 1:37Speaker 1: reminded me to get that one piece character sheet open,
- 1:39Speaker 1: which I did attempt to link in the last show
- 1:43Speaker 1: notes that I posted, But Florian, you may want to
- 1:46Speaker 1: just check and see if it's a shareable property, because
- 1:50Speaker 1: it's not my Google document, so it's possible that you
- 1:55Speaker 1: haven't locked down in such a way that I can't
- 1:57Speaker 1: share it. So I shared the link, but I'm not
- 1:59Speaker 1: positive the people are gonna be able to access it,
- 2:01Speaker 1: so I just thought i'd mention it in case anybody
- 2:03Speaker 1: is interested. But this, this trio of episodes was so
- 2:08Speaker 1: much more engaging, and I was just very rare believed.
- 2:11Speaker 1: You guys, there are so many little things to talk about,
- 2:14Speaker 1: and one of the things that I really I don't
- 2:19Speaker 1: think should be as interesting to me as it is.
- 2:24Speaker 1: I am. I am a little bit baffled by Bella
- 2:33Speaker 1: Mere's or Bellamy. Bellamy, right is bell Mayer is NAMMY's stepmom,
- 2:42Speaker 1: foster mom, adopted mom. I don't really know what to
- 2:45Speaker 1: call her. So yeah, Bellamy is our face, our guy
- 2:52Speaker 1: that I always think of as the tongue guy, which
- 2:54Speaker 1: is kind of funny because after really paying attention to
- 2:58Speaker 1: this episode, don't feel Me is also very much a
- 3:01Speaker 1: tongue guy. And then we had that uh what hair Caribou,
- 3:06Speaker 1: who is the tonguiest of guys. So apparently tongues being
- 3:11Speaker 1: a like thing for Villains is just sort of going
- 3:14Speaker 1: to be an ongoing something. I don't know if that's
- 3:18Speaker 1: like an anime in general or just for this series.
- 3:21Speaker 1: But I don't understand Bellamy's continuing devotion to do Flamengo.
- 3:34Speaker 1: I'm really curious whether or not it's like just a
- 3:39Speaker 1: blind devotion of I need somebody to believe in. Or
- 3:45Speaker 1: is it that he is pretending to still be loyal
- 3:48Speaker 1: because he feels like maybe he's being observed in such
- 3:52Speaker 1: a way that he could prove himself. Or is it
- 3:56Speaker 1: even an alternate to that where maybe he is thinking
- 4:02Speaker 1: he's being tested and is hoping that by continuing to
- 4:07Speaker 1: like keep the faith despite the appearance, you know, like
- 4:11Speaker 1: kind of like when Jacob is being or no Abraham
- 4:15Speaker 1: is being told by God to sacrifice his son. But
- 4:20Speaker 1: I do not know if there's anything more to this
- 4:25Speaker 1: than him just not really having anything else to believe
- 4:29Speaker 1: in at this point and continuing to be loyal. I
- 4:33Speaker 1: really I have this weird affection for Bellamy at this point,
- 4:39Speaker 1: which is just funny because I know that I didn't
- 4:42Speaker 1: like him at all. He was like my least favorite
- 4:45Speaker 1: you guys probably remember, and it was just sort of
- 4:49Speaker 1: a it's what it is, honestly, and I won't even
- 4:55Speaker 1: try and like mince words on this. It's just nostalgia.
- 4:59Speaker 1: We met him such a long time ago, things were
- 5:01Speaker 1: very different, and I have this like kind of affection
- 5:06Speaker 1: that is simply born from a the history, the romance
- 5:16Speaker 1: of history. So I don't know that like he really
- 5:22Speaker 1: deserves what I am saying about him now. I might
- 5:25Speaker 1: just be kind of too generous, but I'm gonna be
- 5:31Speaker 1: honest with you guys about the fact that, like, there
- 5:35Speaker 1: is a part of me that feels sad watching him
- 5:39Speaker 1: continue to not only just like be not just be loyal,
- 5:46Speaker 1: but the way that he is so humiliated as well
- 5:51Speaker 1: is really difficult. It's just you don't, like, nobody ever
- 5:57Speaker 1: wants to see a person. Well, I was gonna say
- 6:00Speaker 1: nobody likes to see a person humiliated. That is not true.
- 6:03Speaker 1: There are times when I do enjoy it if it's
- 6:05Speaker 1: somebody that I really despise, and there are plenty of
- 6:07Speaker 1: people who get off on it. So I'm really not
- 6:09Speaker 1: being honest there. But I think that if this humiliation
- 6:16Speaker 1: had come more quickly on the heels of the way
- 6:18Speaker 1: that he behaved when we first met him, I would
- 6:21Speaker 1: have much less of an issue with it, and I
- 6:22Speaker 1: would just be like, yeah, this guy sucks, remember, like,
- 6:24Speaker 1: of course, and obviously he still sucks. I just want
- 6:28Speaker 1: to remind you all about the fact that he didn't
- 6:30Speaker 1: like really give a straight answer to Lufi's question about
- 6:34Speaker 1: whether anybody Skypea got hurt when he went to visit.
- 6:38Speaker 1: So he is definitely still out here causing trouble and
- 6:42Speaker 1: doing bad things. So I really shouldn't feel for him
- 6:47Speaker 1: the way that I do. But I don't. Like anytime
- 6:51Speaker 1: somebody gets bimboozled by a person that they trust, it's
- 6:56Speaker 1: painful to watch and whether or not that person should
- 7:00Speaker 1: have trusted the person they did. Sometimes you can't help
- 7:05Speaker 1: it be like, lol, that's what you get, bitch, And
- 7:09Speaker 1: I might maybe I should feel that way here, but
- 7:12Speaker 1: I don't. I just don't. I really feel like some
- 7:17Speaker 1: sympathy for him. Oh, Florian says, this gives theon from
- 7:24Speaker 1: Game of Thrones. You know what that is actually fair.
- 7:30Speaker 1: My instinct was to be like really, and then the
- 7:33Speaker 1: more I thought about it, I was like, yeah, somebody
- 7:34Speaker 1: who's like a real shit, very full of themselves, but
- 7:38Speaker 1: like in a way that's sort of pathetic, and then
- 7:41Speaker 1: they get got by somebody bigger and badder and made
- 7:44Speaker 1: to be like a cartoon, and it is embarrassing and
- 7:53Speaker 1: difficult to watch, and once it happens, you're kind of like,
- 7:56Speaker 1: I take it back, this is not what I wanted.
- 8:00Speaker 1: So he's the He's the first guy that I just
- 8:04Speaker 1: want to get out of the way here because he
- 8:07Speaker 1: has been ordered to kill Lufy and he can't go
- 8:10Speaker 1: through with it. He goes up to Loufy and is
- 8:13Speaker 1: like shadowing him as Lufy is talking to Zorro, and
- 8:18Speaker 1: who's with zoro? Oh, it's the samurai whose name I
- 8:24Speaker 1: just never remember and I don't care enough about to
- 8:26Speaker 1: try and remember to be perfectly honest. And when Beleanie
- 8:32Speaker 1: comes up behind him, he is like trying to make
- 8:34Speaker 1: himself do this, and he's shaking because he's trying so
- 8:38Speaker 1: hard and he can't. Like he is remembering the way
- 8:45Speaker 1: that he and Lufy had a bit of a moment
- 8:48Speaker 1: earlier where he was saying like, I don't laugh at
- 8:50Speaker 1: you anymore. I see now that a lot of what
- 8:54Speaker 1: you were saying is true, even though I didn't want
- 8:56Speaker 1: to give it any credence. And now I'm not going
- 8:58Speaker 1: to like have the same kind of attitude towards you
- 9:02Speaker 1: that I did. And so as he's standing there, he
- 9:07Speaker 1: loses his nerve. He drops the knife that he is holding,
- 9:12Speaker 1: and when it clatters to the ground, Lufy looks over
- 9:17Speaker 1: and doesn't really think anything of it, as he wouldn't
- 9:19Speaker 1: because Lufy doesn't. Lufy is just not a guy who
- 9:22Speaker 1: like connects dots really, you know. He is told what
- 9:27Speaker 1: dots connect and is pointed in a certain direction like
- 9:30Speaker 1: a weapon, and let go to do his thing. But
- 9:33Speaker 1: Lufy isn't the ideas guy, and once he fucks up
- 9:41Speaker 1: and doesn't follow through on killing Mufy, Bellamy is jumped
- 9:47Speaker 1: by this little shit whose name is mentioned but I
- 9:52Speaker 1: don't remember it. And this guy, at first I thought
- 9:57Speaker 1: it was a woman. It's the voice actor might be
- 10:00Speaker 1: a woman. I'm not positive, but it seems pretty much
- 10:06Speaker 1: like that he is coded as being really young, like
- 10:11Speaker 1: in that age of like sixteen or so. It feels
- 10:16Speaker 1: like for me where he's such a young boy that
- 10:19Speaker 1: a woman could still do the voice acting for him
- 10:22Speaker 1: and it would be reasonable. And he is still very
- 10:26Speaker 1: lithe and small in a way that could give feminine
- 10:31Speaker 1: a little bit Dellinger says Florian. Yeah, Okay, so Dellinger,
- 10:39Speaker 1: I don't know what exactly his deal is, but he
- 10:47Speaker 1: has like I don't even want to call him like
- 10:55Speaker 1: a high school bully because it really feels much more
- 10:58Speaker 1: like he is a bully's sidekick. He's the the bully,
- 11:04Speaker 1: is the one who is the aggressor and the one
- 11:08Speaker 1: that's actually intimidating. And then he has a guy like
- 11:12Speaker 1: Dollander with him who loves to do the poking and
- 11:17Speaker 1: prodding and fucking up of people, and the bully initiates
- 11:22Speaker 1: it but then sort of backs off and lets his
- 11:25Speaker 1: friend get his hands dirty. And it's the kind of
- 11:28Speaker 1: person that like finds a bully to attach himself to
- 11:32Speaker 1: because he doesn't really have the courage to initiate the thing,
- 11:35Speaker 1: but he does like hurting people, so he just finds
- 11:39Speaker 1: somebody who is out here getting the hurt started to
- 11:43Speaker 1: attach himself to to make his own life a little
- 11:45Speaker 1: bit more convenient. And I really do not care for
- 11:50Speaker 1: this guy. It there's just such a like spiteful, gleeful
- 11:58Speaker 1: quality to him, and he is I'm trying to think
- 12:05Speaker 1: of the word that I want here, but like the
- 12:07Speaker 1: way that he keeps saying things like I made an
- 12:10Speaker 1: oopsie eating It's like he's infantilizing himself. It's like he
- 12:16Speaker 1: wants to be seen as even younger than he is.
- 12:20Speaker 1: It's very odd. I don't really get like if that's
- 12:26Speaker 1: part of what he thinks is like frightening about himself,
- 12:30Speaker 1: that he is so young. But I am feeling like
- 12:34Speaker 1: I may have missed something if there is some sort
- 12:38Speaker 1: of ability that Dellinger has. Florian let me know if
- 12:42Speaker 1: this is something that I missed. I can't help but
- 12:47Speaker 1: think that there is like some type of the fact
- 12:55Speaker 1: that Bellamy isn't fighting back at all and eventually he's
- 13:01Speaker 1: able to run. He uses his like spring legs to
- 13:05Speaker 1: propel himself away from this kid, but he apparently is
- 13:09Speaker 1: not able to actually defend himself. Is a little bit
- 13:15Speaker 1: confusing to me, And I don't know if it's because
- 13:18Speaker 1: of this kid having a power and he manages to
- 13:21Speaker 1: cause people to not be able to defend themselves, but like,
- 13:25Speaker 1: if that is what he can do, it ties in
- 13:28Speaker 1: even better with my assertion about him being the sort
- 13:31Speaker 1: of sidekick to a bully, because that is the exact
- 13:34Speaker 1: type of person that doesn't want a fair fight. You know,
- 13:38Speaker 1: this is not somebody who is coming into things looking
- 13:41Speaker 1: to mix it up with another person. They are looking
- 13:44Speaker 1: for somebody who is helpless. They are looking for prey.
- 13:48Speaker 1: And I just really his whole energy is super gross
- 13:54Speaker 1: and it's the exact type of person that I personally,
- 14:00Speaker 1: I'm really really despicable. I you guys, like, if you
- 14:06Speaker 1: listen to the show, you know by now I can
- 14:08Speaker 1: be very soft hearted. It's sort of weird because there
- 14:11Speaker 1: are times where I can be very cold hearted, but
- 14:14Speaker 1: I kind of got to get pushed to that point,
- 14:17Speaker 1: and I feel like you've got to have fucked up
- 14:20Speaker 1: pretty bad for me to start to be like, who
- 14:22Speaker 1: gives a shit fuck them? You know. I feel like
- 14:28Speaker 1: and like anybody being made totally helpless and humiliated, even
- 14:36Speaker 1: when they maybe do deserve it, I never really enjoy
- 14:42Speaker 1: it when it's this kind of humiliation, when it's like
- 14:47Speaker 1: a physical beat down. There are types of humiliation I
- 14:53Speaker 1: could get behind for certain people. For example, if we're
- 14:56Speaker 1: talking about like Donald Trump, there's so many types of
- 15:01Speaker 1: humiliation that I could wish upon that man and just
- 15:03Speaker 1: delighten in were it to happen, and I would have
- 15:06Speaker 1: no qualms about it, and it would have to go
- 15:08Speaker 1: so very far before I was willing to be like, Okay, okay,
- 15:12Speaker 1: now I'm drawing a line, but those humiliations are not
- 15:16Speaker 1: really physical. What I would want, like, honestly, if I
- 15:20Speaker 1: were to pick any way to sort of get revenge
- 15:25Speaker 1: on a person like that, it would be for them
- 15:28Speaker 1: to have the Dudley Dursley experience, which is to say,
- 15:32Speaker 1: for those of you who don't know, Dudley Dursley is
- 15:36Speaker 1: from the Harry Potter universe, and he is Harry's shitty
- 15:41Speaker 1: bullying cousin, and at one point he is attacked by
- 15:46Speaker 1: a dementor and he is basically changed forever after that moment.
- 15:51Speaker 1: And later on in an interview, JK Rowling said that,
- 15:55Speaker 1: and please JK Rowling is trash. I'm just repeating her
- 15:58Speaker 1: words for her own character here. She said that what
- 16:02Speaker 1: Dudley experienced when he was being attacked by this dementor
- 16:07Speaker 1: was he suddenly saw himself through the eyes of everyone
- 16:10Speaker 1: else and experienced what he had done to other people,
- 16:13Speaker 1: and had a sudden insight into like what he had
- 16:17Speaker 1: sown in his life and the effect that he had
- 16:20Speaker 1: had on people, and how miserable he made others and
- 16:23Speaker 1: how like everybody viewed him with a mixture of fear
- 16:26Speaker 1: and contempt and that was what changed him. And that's
- 16:31Speaker 1: all I would want is for Donald Trump to suddenly
- 16:34Speaker 1: become self aware and realize how much of a monster
- 16:40Speaker 1: he is or has facilitated others to become. But that
- 16:45Speaker 1: requires a type of mind that I do not think
- 16:48Speaker 1: this man will ever have because he if he is
- 16:50Speaker 1: this old and hasn't reached the point yet, it's not
- 16:52Speaker 1: going to happen. I think he is somebody who is
- 16:55Speaker 1: actually like something is wrong with him mentally, and I
- 17:00Speaker 1: don't mean necessarily mental illness exactly. I'm not sure what
- 17:04Speaker 1: you would call it, but I think that there is
- 17:06Speaker 1: something missing. And I don't know if it's a result
- 17:10Speaker 1: of birth or a result of nurture, but I think
- 17:14Speaker 1: that this is a guy who was, like from a child,
- 17:18Speaker 1: probably fucked up, and never ever was going to be
- 17:22Speaker 1: able to be made better without a massive change in
- 17:25Speaker 1: his circumstances, which was unlikely to happen. So anyway, I
- 17:29Speaker 1: think Dellinger is like Donald Trump, you're already here. First, fucks.
- 17:37Speaker 1: That's probably the most cutting insult that I could make,
- 17:43Speaker 1: So all right, let's back up here a little bit, because,
- 17:47Speaker 1: as I said, I am getting ahead of myself jumping
- 17:49Speaker 1: around here. But I just find Bellamy's position just particularly
- 17:54Speaker 1: fascinating because of the fact that he is, Like the
- 17:59Speaker 1: show deals a lot in villains who trick folks into
- 18:03Speaker 1: working for them under whatever circumstances they create. Like they
- 18:09Speaker 1: either straight up lie to them, they create circumstances that
- 18:15Speaker 1: make it seem like a certain way to trick them.
- 18:20Speaker 1: They just have this sort of force of personality or
- 18:23Speaker 1: manage to like embody things that a character wishes they
- 18:27Speaker 1: could have or be, and so they follow them out
- 18:30Speaker 1: of this sort of weird admiration and envy. There's all
- 18:34Speaker 1: kinds of ways that we have this, and eventually a
- 18:39Speaker 1: lot of them do wind up discovering that they have
- 18:42Speaker 1: been tricked or lied to, and I just think it's
- 18:45Speaker 1: interesting the variety of ways that we see them react
- 18:48Speaker 1: to that news, because, like you know, when we were
- 18:52Speaker 1: in Caesar Clown's territory and his guys were finding out
- 18:55Speaker 1: that they had been lied to, they didn't like believe it. It
- 18:59Speaker 1: took so many tries and so many close calls until
- 19:05Speaker 1: they were finally actually being killed. And I put killed
- 19:09Speaker 1: in quotes obviously, because we're not dying in the one
- 19:12Speaker 1: piece universe. But it's just interesting to me, like, how
- 19:19Speaker 1: I will just take it for granted that if somebody
- 19:22Speaker 1: finds out another person has lied to them, that suddenly
- 19:27Speaker 1: they will no longer be on their side anymore. And
- 19:29Speaker 1: that is evidently not true. And as much as you
- 19:33Speaker 1: can say, of course it can't be true, because in
- 19:37Speaker 1: this universe, you need your bad guys to stay bad guys,
- 19:40Speaker 1: You need your bad guys to keep henchmen. This is
- 19:43Speaker 1: not actually that far fetched. If we're going to go back,
- 19:48Speaker 1: and I am to the Donald Trump of it all,
- 19:51Speaker 1: how many campaign promises has this man backed out of
- 19:56Speaker 1: or completely failed to deliver on and people are still
- 20:00Speaker 1: sucking his dick and it is bizarre, Like you guys,
- 20:05Speaker 1: remember the first time that he ran twenty sixteen, all
- 20:08Speaker 1: he would talk about is how, not only are we
- 20:11Speaker 1: gonna build the wall, we are going to have Mexico
- 20:14Speaker 1: pay for that wall. Well, needless to say, we did
- 20:20Speaker 1: not do that. We did not build the wall, and
- 20:22Speaker 1: we did not get Mexico to pay for the wall.
- 20:25Speaker 1: So eventually a Trump support decided to start fundraising to
- 20:30Speaker 1: build the wall on a big stretch of their own property,
- 20:34Speaker 1: and they did a GoFundMe and so a bunch of
- 20:36Speaker 1: Conservatives donated their own private money to a GoFundMe to
- 20:42Speaker 1: build the wall, but still voted for the man that
- 20:47Speaker 1: promised them that they wouldn't need to pay for it.
- 20:50Speaker 1: And I just really want us to stop and think
- 20:52Speaker 1: about that fucking disconnect there that like the whole like
- 20:57Speaker 1: half of the reason people were willing to vote for
- 20:59Speaker 1: him was how anti immigration he is, and then when
- 21:02Speaker 1: he did fuck all about that, they were cheerfully painting
- 21:08Speaker 1: out of their own pockets and continuing to give him
- 21:11Speaker 1: their vote, which is mind blowing. Like it's just on
- 21:15Speaker 1: so many levels, people are such fucking morons and it's
- 21:20Speaker 1: extremely embarrassing anyway, So Dylan's are also you guys. I
- 21:27Speaker 1: just want to like talk about his look for a
- 21:29Speaker 1: second here, because it is a really like different look
- 21:35Speaker 1: than a lot of the guys in this universe. Like
- 21:38Speaker 1: I said, he is very very young, and he's got
- 21:43Speaker 1: this when I said earlier that he has sort of
- 21:46Speaker 1: almost a feminine look to him. Part of that is
- 21:49Speaker 1: the fact that he is wearing these tiny bike shorts
- 21:53Speaker 1: that are like this is not the kind of outfit
- 21:56Speaker 1: that we often see male characters wearing. But it's these
- 22:01Speaker 1: tiny shorts and a very tight, long sleeved green it
- 22:09Speaker 1: almost looks like a Henley shirt, like it's got a
- 22:12Speaker 1: collar and is open at the neck a little bit.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Or maybe it's not. No, it's not. It's just got
- 22:18Speaker 1: a design that makes it look like it's open at
- 22:19Speaker 1: the neck, but it's like almost a turtleneck actually, And
- 22:23Speaker 1: he's got shaggy blonde hair, a silver hoop in each ear,
- 22:29Speaker 1: and then he's got what kind of looks like a
- 22:31Speaker 1: regular ordinary and like beige like canvas ball cap, but
- 22:36Speaker 1: there are horns coming out of each side of the
- 22:41Speaker 1: ball cap, like the horns of like a steer. And
- 22:46Speaker 1: it's really like, if you want to do one of
- 22:49Speaker 1: the easiest caseplays in the entire world, this probably you
- 22:54Speaker 1: could throw together in an afternoon. I don't think that
- 22:57Speaker 1: this would be hard to do at all. All you
- 23:00Speaker 1: need is to get like some kind of contact lens
- 23:03Speaker 1: because his eyes are almost completely colorless. It's like they're
- 23:07Speaker 1: gray or white. Even so, this fight and the way
- 23:17Speaker 1: that all of this continues to go down, it's just
- 23:20Speaker 1: bizarre because once again Bellamy is not defending himself, and
- 23:24Speaker 1: I'm not sure if it's a power or if he's
- 23:26Speaker 1: just afraid to fight back, because this is somebody who
- 23:29Speaker 1: works for it. And like at the beginning of the fight,
- 23:31Speaker 1: when he says that our boss told me to kill you,
- 23:35Speaker 1: he does one of those like oh should I not
- 23:37Speaker 1: have said that? Oopsie kind of things, and then he
- 23:42Speaker 1: like this leads to Bellamy kind of being like, no, no, no, no,
- 23:46Speaker 1: he can't want me dead. I don't believe it, Like
- 23:48Speaker 1: he just absolutely isn't hearing it. And even when later
- 23:53Speaker 1: on it is proved to be true that this is
- 23:56Speaker 1: just what it sounded like, he isn't buying it, and
- 24:00Speaker 1: I just really it's like, once he buys it, it
- 24:04Speaker 1: doesn't matter. It's just when you are in this kind
- 24:08Speaker 1: of of I guess just denial. What what is it
- 24:15Speaker 1: that you can even say to somebody? You know? I
- 24:18Speaker 1: just felt really sad for him that he is so
- 24:22Speaker 1: lacking in options that when he experiences this kind of betrayal,
- 24:29Speaker 1: it's just not enough for him to quit. Let's let's
- 24:33Speaker 1: talk now about do Flamingo and Trafalgar's fight, because obviously
- 24:43Speaker 1: Traffy isn't dead right, we keep establishing this. It's he
- 24:48Speaker 1: isn't dead, and I'm fine with that. Like, there have
- 24:54Speaker 1: been times where I'm like, I really wish a character
- 24:56Speaker 1: would die. Trafalgar's death actually probably would work really well here,
- 25:03Speaker 1: But it's not one of those times that I'm frustrated
- 25:06Speaker 1: by the fact that he isn't dead. I'm really this
- 25:09Speaker 1: is fine, But it is sort of funny later on
- 25:14Speaker 1: when Nami is saying things like, well, we can't just
- 25:19Speaker 1: go back because then Trafalgar's fight or Trafalgar's sacrifice is
- 25:24Speaker 1: what she says, would have been for nothing, and a
- 25:29Speaker 1: part of me kind of as much as like I
- 25:32Speaker 1: understand what she means, I still did kind of feel
- 25:35Speaker 1: a little bit like saying sacrifice when somebody isn't actually
- 25:40Speaker 1: dead feels a little bit strong. But probably that's not
- 25:44Speaker 1: out of line. So the fight between him and do
- 25:48Speaker 1: Fo Mingo, it turns out Trafalgar's got a ceiling on
- 25:57Speaker 1: his room ability. I will mention too that I don't
- 26:02Speaker 1: know if this is actually how it's said, or if
- 26:04Speaker 1: this is just the dub that made it sound this way,
- 26:07Speaker 1: But when when Dophie is talking to Traffy about his
- 26:12Speaker 1: ability running out he says something about the opopie fruits
- 26:17Speaker 1: abilities are impressive, and I was like, the Opopie fruit.
- 26:22Speaker 1: I thought it was the op op fruit. Have I
- 26:24Speaker 1: been saying wrong this whole time? Like either, like they're
- 26:28Speaker 1: they're very different, and so considering how completely different they
- 26:33Speaker 1: they feel, I feel like somebody out there, if I
- 26:36Speaker 1: got it wrong, was probably like snickering to themselves over
- 26:40Speaker 1: the just how off I was. But yeah, there's evidently
- 26:47Speaker 1: like it takes a lot of energy to keep this
- 26:49Speaker 1: ability going and he can't keep it up, and you, guys,
- 26:57Speaker 1: I feel like that's like a real ripoff. I mean,
- 27:02Speaker 1: do any other devil fruits have this sort of limit
- 27:07Speaker 1: on them? Here's my feeling on this. I think we
- 27:17Speaker 1: didn't know this right. Is this the first time that
- 27:20Speaker 1: we're being given this information? Because my opinion on this
- 27:23Speaker 1: sort of stems from the fact that, as far as
- 27:26Speaker 1: I recall, this has never been mentioned. And so the
- 27:29Speaker 1: way it's hitting for me is very much like Oda
- 27:33Speaker 1: realized there are too many ways that Traffy can get
- 27:37Speaker 1: out of anything, and that he has to find some
- 27:40Speaker 1: kind of weakness or else there's no reasonable way do
- 27:44Speaker 1: Flamingo beats him, And so he finally decided to just
- 27:47Speaker 1: throw in Oh yeah, eventually he gets tired and he
- 27:50Speaker 1: can't do it anymore. And that, honestly is just all
- 27:53Speaker 1: it seems like to me, was that he realized I
- 27:57Speaker 1: kind of had to nerve this guy because he is ope,
- 28:02Speaker 1: and I didn't realize it when I wrote it, just
- 28:05Speaker 1: how versatile this ability could be, and that essentially he'd
- 28:09Speaker 1: be like almost unbeatable. So now I've got to retroactively
- 28:14Speaker 1: come up with something that keeps him a little bit
- 28:18Speaker 1: like more reasonably beatable. And I don't really I understand
- 28:24Speaker 1: that that might be necessary, and I don't even really
- 28:27Speaker 1: I'm not mad at it exactly, but it does just
- 28:30Speaker 1: feel a little bit cheap to me. And again, if
- 28:34Speaker 1: it's been mentioned way earlier on that he has this
- 28:37Speaker 1: limit and I just missed it fair But it's not
- 28:42Speaker 1: ringing a bell. So that's just me saying how I'm
- 28:46Speaker 1: feeling from right now. So yeah, there's this like interruption
- 28:53Speaker 1: in their fight where the transponder snail is ringing, and
- 28:56Speaker 1: eventually Dophie answers the call, but he answers it like
- 29:03Speaker 1: right after dealing what's almost a killing blow to Traffy.
- 29:10Speaker 1: Eventually later he actually shoots him, which once again, I
- 29:15Speaker 1: don't get how bullets work in this world because you
- 29:19Speaker 1: just if nobody dies, but you do have guns, I
- 29:23Speaker 1: don't get how that's supposed to happen. I just kind
- 29:27Speaker 1: of wish that we just didn't have guns in the
- 29:31Speaker 1: One Piece universe, Like it doesn't. It doesn't make any sense, guys,
- 29:39Speaker 1: unless we actually this. This is the caveat for this
- 29:45Speaker 1: if you have somebody with an ability that allows them
- 29:50Speaker 1: to heal, or like if we establish that people with
- 29:54Speaker 1: devil fruit powers were able to do things to recover
- 29:58Speaker 1: from physical wounds of certain type, I think that would
- 30:02Speaker 1: make more sense. And if we saw, for example, that
- 30:07Speaker 1: bullets penetrated but were rejected, like this is something that
- 30:09Speaker 1: happens in the the True Blood series. Is like vampires
- 30:16Speaker 1: get shot, but then you see their bodies like beginning
- 30:19Speaker 1: to revitalize and the bullet gets pushed back out of
- 30:22Speaker 1: their flesh and the wound begins to knit itself, like
- 30:25Speaker 1: right in front of your eyes. And so the fact
- 30:28Speaker 1: that they can resist bullet wounds is made very obvious.
- 30:32Speaker 1: But in One Piece it's just really weird because like
- 30:36Speaker 1: people go down from a gunshot wound and they lay
- 30:39Speaker 1: there unconscious and bleeding and apparently having been shot like
- 30:44Speaker 1: any person would be shot, and then they're fine, and
- 30:48Speaker 1: there's never a real like in between where we see
- 30:50Speaker 1: how they're fine. It's just taken for granted that in
- 30:55Speaker 1: the moment they're shot, we're all going to act like
- 30:57Speaker 1: they died, and then later on, when they're alive, we're
- 31:02Speaker 1: all just gonna be like, yeah, of course they're alive,
- 31:05Speaker 1: and it's not shocking to anybody. And I don't get
- 31:10Speaker 1: why there isn't something if we're gonna have a universe
- 31:13Speaker 1: where like nobody dies basically, I don't get why we
- 31:16Speaker 1: don't have something built into the way the story is
- 31:20Speaker 1: told or animated that shows us a little bit more
- 31:24Speaker 1: detail on why people manage to survive these things, because
- 31:29Speaker 1: that would work for me a lot better. I think
- 31:33Speaker 1: you guys know that the nobody dying bothers me. I
- 31:36Speaker 1: don't like that as a storytelling convention in general. I
- 31:39Speaker 1: think that it takes the stakes away from everything. And
- 31:41Speaker 1: I understand that he didn't want to do that in
- 31:44Speaker 1: this world, but I think that was a mistake, and
- 31:46Speaker 1: I think the story would be way stronger if he
- 31:48Speaker 1: did kill people but if we're gonna go with not
- 31:51Speaker 1: killing people, there has to be some sort of explanation
- 31:56Speaker 1: for it. And with the bigger weapons that we have seen,
- 32:00Speaker 1: like we have had people that are turned to stone
- 32:02Speaker 1: and then they turned back again, And that is a
- 32:04Speaker 1: way that I can understand. These people seemed like they
- 32:08Speaker 1: were essentially dead and now they're not. But when it's
- 32:12Speaker 1: individuals like this and the way they that everybody reacts
- 32:17Speaker 1: to them being shot and acts as if they are
- 32:19Speaker 1: dead or they just witnessed a murder, it just rings
- 32:25Speaker 1: really false because I know they're not dead, and evidently
- 32:32Speaker 1: a lot of people knew that this person was likely
- 32:35Speaker 1: not dead, but they're all behaving as if that is
- 32:38Speaker 1: indeed what happened, and they talk about it for a
- 32:41Speaker 1: little while as if that's what happened as well. Florian says,
- 32:46Speaker 1: he said at one point he talking about Trafalgar. He
- 32:50Speaker 1: said at one point he needs to preserve his powers
- 32:52Speaker 1: when he was with oos up and rob him. But yeah,
- 32:54Speaker 1: it feels weak, Okay, yeah, when they were crossing the bridge.
- 32:58Speaker 1: I remember that now, Flora. Okay, yeah, I that helps,
- 33:04Speaker 1: that helps, Okay, I will say that. But anyway, so
- 33:14Speaker 1: this is when the call comes into Uh, Dophie and
- 33:20Speaker 1: I can't remember this weirdo's name who likes calling himself
- 33:22Speaker 1: a genius, but he is saying that Violet betrayed us,
- 33:26Speaker 1: and Dophie says, well, you know, since black Leg is
- 33:29Speaker 1: still alive, I really should have expected that. Oh it's Diamante.
- 33:32Speaker 1: He says, well, we weren't able to use her Glare
- 33:34Speaker 1: Glare power to see what the straw Hats were up to,
- 33:37Speaker 1: so we're still in the dark on that, and Dophie says,
- 33:39Speaker 1: it's all under control. Here's the deal. I need you
- 33:43Speaker 1: to deploy Louji and the others the entrance of the
- 33:46Speaker 1: Smile Factory and Diamante says, we already announced those guys
- 33:51Speaker 1: will be participating in the finals. The crowd's going to
- 33:53Speaker 1: be angry and do Flamingo says, they've got you. That's
- 33:57Speaker 1: more than enough, and he does that, No, you're making
- 34:02Speaker 1: me sound like I'm some sort of genius. I'm nothing
- 34:05Speaker 1: like that, honestly, and he says, you are the only
- 34:09Speaker 1: one who can do this. Fine, I'm a genius. You
- 34:13Speaker 1: can count on me, and then he hangs up. Honestly,
- 34:18Speaker 1: it's very fun. I do kind of enjoy this like
- 34:21Speaker 1: the moments where I don't obviously like do Flamingo. There
- 34:27Speaker 1: are times where you like a villain. Dophie is not
- 34:31Speaker 1: one of those. For me. I can understand if people
- 34:34Speaker 1: do like him because he has a certain possess I
- 34:38Speaker 1: won't deny that, but he is a guy who is
- 34:41Speaker 1: just too truly vicious for me to really enjoy. That.
- 34:47Speaker 1: Said I I do like seeing the way that he
- 34:55Speaker 1: plays the people around him and gets their loyalty to him.
- 35:01Speaker 1: It's still not really clear to me why he has
- 35:04Speaker 1: the loyalty of somebody like Bellamy, because Bellamy is like
- 35:10Speaker 1: it should just be so much clearer to him. But
- 35:14Speaker 1: I feel like somebody like this where you watch how
- 35:18Speaker 1: he is able to manipulate exactly the thing about them
- 35:24Speaker 1: that they are either most sensitive to or maybe most
- 35:28Speaker 1: proud of. But it's just sort of fun, and I'm
- 35:33Speaker 1: always interested in general, and this is like, probably this
- 35:38Speaker 1: is actually something that I'm going to be kind of
- 35:41Speaker 1: incorporating into the book that I'm writing right now. Manipulating
- 35:46Speaker 1: people has always been a little bit fascinating to me,
- 35:50Speaker 1: just because I have over time felt like if I
- 35:56Speaker 1: had decided to turn my ability to observe folks in
- 36:01Speaker 1: a certain direction. I could have been very good at this,
- 36:04Speaker 1: and it's the sort of thing that makes for like
- 36:05Speaker 1: a really good con artist. I don't have the interest
- 36:09Speaker 1: in doing that because it takes a type of energy
- 36:12Speaker 1: that I don't want to expend. But I really do
- 36:17Speaker 1: get what could make people who are like this tick
- 36:22Speaker 1: and how there's just a satisfaction in getting people to
- 36:27Speaker 1: do what you want them to do and having that
- 36:30Speaker 1: person really believe it's all their own idea, and just
- 36:35Speaker 1: how like it's sort of a push pull for me
- 36:40Speaker 1: because I'm also somebody who wants credit right, So, like,
- 36:45Speaker 1: if I do something awesome, I want everybody to know
- 36:48Speaker 1: I did it, and I want them to be like,
- 36:50Speaker 1: Natasha did this awesome thing. I have pride and I
- 36:54Speaker 1: want acknowledgment. If you want to be a good con artist,
- 36:58Speaker 1: you can't have that kind of pride. You need to
- 37:02Speaker 1: be willing to let everybody around you underestimate you. You
- 37:05Speaker 1: need to be willing to let everybody assume certain things
- 37:08Speaker 1: happen by accident, or that somebody else did something wrong,
- 37:11Speaker 1: or that you fucked up. You have to be able
- 37:14Speaker 1: to totally set aside your personal reputation and image in
- 37:20Speaker 1: the hopes of reaching this other larger goal eventually, and
- 37:25Speaker 1: that would have to be something that I worked on
- 37:27Speaker 1: if I were going to do this sort of thing.
- 37:29Speaker 1: But it is really fascinating to watch a character do
- 37:33Speaker 1: this stuff. And Dophie clearly like he isn't doing this
- 37:37Speaker 1: job and in this position of such power because he
- 37:41Speaker 1: just sat on his ass and watched TV all the time.
- 37:45Speaker 1: This is a guy who understands his people pretty well
- 37:50Speaker 1: and is figuring out ways to like handle folks each
- 37:55Speaker 1: according to what their weaknesses and strengths are. And honestly,
- 38:00Speaker 1: it's kind of reminding me of crocodile And that's just
- 38:03Speaker 1: good management, you know. It is like and if you've
- 38:08Speaker 1: worked for bad managers, you know how rare that is,
- 38:11Speaker 1: and that this is something that like, yeah, maybe I
- 38:13Speaker 1: do admire this a little bit. I don't like it,
- 38:20Speaker 1: but I can certainly respect it. So okay, I'm trying
- 38:25Speaker 1: to get around here. Oh right, So we have then
- 38:30Speaker 1: this moment with what is the name of this wild
- 38:36Speaker 1: shark slicer B Steele. That's right. He's sitting outside of
- 38:43Speaker 1: this the coliseum and one of his men is saying
- 38:48Speaker 1: to him like, I'm pretty sure that's louviy in there
- 38:51Speaker 1: by the way, and he's like, Oh, that would make
- 38:55Speaker 1: a lot of sense. Actually, that's why this kid was
- 38:58Speaker 1: so incredibly tough, so unexpectedly. And they're in the midst
- 39:03Speaker 1: of talking about all of the really strong badasses that
- 39:08Speaker 1: are in this competition, and he all of a sudden
- 39:14Speaker 1: seems to completely lose track of who's who and why
- 39:18Speaker 1: we are after any of them. And it's a really
- 39:21Speaker 1: weird moment because like, I think it's supposed to be
- 39:26Speaker 1: part of this whole weird memory thing that's going on.
- 39:29Speaker 1: But the memory thing is is we haven't gotten adequate
- 39:35Speaker 1: information on this yet, so I am still feeling a
- 39:39Speaker 1: bit in the dark here. I have to assume that
- 39:41Speaker 1: that's on purpose, But there's been a little bit of like,
- 39:45Speaker 1: we've got things conflated so and not the show has,
- 39:49Speaker 1: but I am getting things conflated, I guess, because we
- 39:52Speaker 1: had the all the people who get turned into toys,
- 39:59Speaker 1: who we later find out that's being done by a
- 40:01Speaker 1: little girl. That is not being done by that dude
- 40:03Speaker 1: at all. So the little girl is like under his
- 40:07Speaker 1: protection and he is sort of her chaperone, but she
- 40:12Speaker 1: is the one actually with this ability, and once those
- 40:18Speaker 1: people are turned into toys, the memory of them is
- 40:21Speaker 1: wiped from all of the people who knew them. Right. However,
- 40:27Speaker 1: there are also other memory issues going on and people
- 40:31Speaker 1: being made to forget really important things, and some of
- 40:35Speaker 1: that forgetfulness does not seem like it's linked with the
- 40:39Speaker 1: like toys being created at all. So I'm really not
- 40:46Speaker 1: sure what the deal is here with like the memory
- 40:50Speaker 1: stuff and who is controlling that and how they're controlling that.
- 40:55Speaker 1: It's It's definitely there's there's more more than one person
- 41:01Speaker 1: I am assuming that is doing this, and I don't
- 41:05Speaker 1: know what to make of that. Guys, Like, I feel
- 41:10Speaker 1: like we're slowly rolling out all of these different characters
- 41:15Speaker 1: and their abilities, and I'm getting a little bit worried
- 41:19Speaker 1: at this point that we've got too much in the mix.
- 41:24Speaker 1: It's you guys, know, Like from the start, I was
- 41:28Speaker 1: feeling a little bit concerned because of the fact that
- 41:32Speaker 1: the number of people introduced via this whole Colisseum fight
- 41:38Speaker 1: was already starting to be like, this is an awful lot,
- 41:41Speaker 1: you know, and I was taking comfort in the fact that, like,
- 41:46Speaker 1: I don't think I need to remember all these people
- 41:49Speaker 1: I don't think that this is all crucial. We can
- 41:52Speaker 1: just let this fight wash over us, and whoever it
- 41:55Speaker 1: is that winds up like in the top five or whatever,
- 41:58Speaker 1: those are the people who are going to wind up
- 41:59Speaker 1: being in And mostly that has seemed to be true. However,
- 42:04Speaker 1: there is that whole thing with the guys who were
- 42:06Speaker 1: defeated down in that sewer like garbage area, and some
- 42:12Speaker 1: of them apparently still being in the mix, but we'll
- 42:16Speaker 1: set them aside. It seems like that's mostly true. But
- 42:19Speaker 1: now we're getting into do Flamingo's like henchmen, and each
- 42:23Speaker 1: of them is more important than the henchmen usually are
- 42:27Speaker 1: we all normally the way that these stories unfold, we've
- 42:30Speaker 1: got our main guy, and then we've got a couple
- 42:32Speaker 1: henchmen that sort of wind up separated from the main group,
- 42:36Speaker 1: and they are set up to just fight our other
- 42:39Speaker 1: straw hat friends in whatever situation they each find themselves
- 42:44Speaker 1: paired up in. And it's clear that they have been
- 42:47Speaker 1: sort of drawn to be an adequate foil to whoever
- 42:53Speaker 1: they go up against, whether it beat usap or Sonji
- 42:56Speaker 1: or whoever. And that may ultimately be where we wind
- 42:59Speaker 1: up here as well. Right now, do. Flamingo's guys are
- 43:03Speaker 1: all participating a whole lot more in the actual like
- 43:11Speaker 1: main accomplishment of controlling dress Rosa. It's not like there's
- 43:16Speaker 1: just one guy who is sort of he's the the
- 43:22Speaker 1: brains of the operation, and everybody else just completely does
- 43:26Speaker 1: as they're told. These folks do as they're told when
- 43:30Speaker 1: they get in touch with him and are given orders,
- 43:32Speaker 1: but he trusts them to like to handle things on
- 43:36Speaker 1: their own a lot, and this means that they are
- 43:39Speaker 1: taking up more space in the story, and thus I
- 43:42Speaker 1: feel more of a need to like keep track of
- 43:45Speaker 1: them and who they are. And it's got me just
- 43:48Speaker 1: sort of worried that, like adding in all of these
- 43:52Speaker 1: different people, plus we have got the different marines mixed
- 43:55Speaker 1: in now, like the steel, it's getting to be a lot,
- 44:00Speaker 1: lot a lot of people. And I am just gonna
- 44:05Speaker 1: say right now, you guys know that I already struggle
- 44:07Speaker 1: with keeping track of folks, and I do deeply appreciate
- 44:12Speaker 1: this spreadsheet that Florian has made to help me keep
- 44:15Speaker 1: track of people. But even so, even with this, it's
- 44:20Speaker 1: going to be tough because once you make a spreadsheet
- 44:24Speaker 1: long enough, the amount of time that I spend just
- 44:26Speaker 1: like scrolling through to find the person that I'm trying
- 44:29Speaker 1: to find. When you've got a list of characters this long,
- 44:32Speaker 1: it starts to get very ungainly, you know. So eventually,
- 44:39Speaker 1: once we get to the end of the very first episode,
- 44:43Speaker 1: we've got Frankie who's like talking to Lufy and telling
- 44:46Speaker 1: him basically, Hey, I know that we said to Trafalgar
- 44:49Speaker 1: that we were going to like take down the Smile
- 44:51Speaker 1: Factory and then we were gonna bail and take Do
- 44:54Speaker 1: Flamingo with us, and we were going to, you know,
- 44:58Speaker 1: just like the It was going to be kind of
- 45:01Speaker 1: a hard hit, take out this weapon and then use
- 45:04Speaker 1: Do Flamingo against to leverage our own position. I know
- 45:10Speaker 1: that we said that, but I don't think that I
- 45:14Speaker 1: can do that now that I have seen what's actually
- 45:17Speaker 1: happening here. It's not right for us to bail and
- 45:21Speaker 1: leave these people to their fate, because Do Flamingo is
- 45:24Speaker 1: a really bad guy and what he has going on
- 45:27Speaker 1: here is fucked up. And I'm sorry, Lufy, but like
- 45:33Speaker 1: I know, we agreed to this plan, and I love
- 45:37Speaker 1: you as a leader, but I've got to follow my
- 45:40Speaker 1: conscience and we have got to back them up on
- 45:43Speaker 1: this attack because they have a very legitimate grievance, and
- 45:47Speaker 1: of course, surprising nobody, Lufy is fully like, yeah, all right, brother,
- 45:52Speaker 1: we're bhind you. We'll do this. And then what I
- 45:58Speaker 1: really do appreciate how Frankie sets this up as well,
- 46:02Speaker 1: because like Usup is the one that's at first on
- 46:05Speaker 1: the call and Frankie takes over. And I was very
- 46:07Speaker 1: grateful for that, because Frankie is just going to get
- 46:11Speaker 1: right to the fucking point, whereas Usup would beat around
- 46:13Speaker 1: the bush and also has a tendency to let fear
- 46:17Speaker 1: dictate everything he does, and it would be a whole thing,
- 46:21Speaker 1: you know. So let's see, I'm trying to find the
- 46:26Speaker 1: spot because we have like do flamingo killing, traffic killing
- 46:30Speaker 1: not really in the midst of his city and Zorro
- 46:36Speaker 1: and the samurai coming at him. Uh. And one of
- 46:43Speaker 1: the guys who is talking to best Deal is like, hey,
- 46:48Speaker 1: we've got the pirate hunter on the move. Do you
- 46:50Speaker 1: want us to go after him? And he says, well,
- 46:54Speaker 1: sounds good, but uh, hold on a second, as he's
- 46:57Speaker 1: watching this whole thing unfold. Meanwhile, I want to remind
- 47:01Speaker 1: you all that like there's a lot of emphasis on
- 47:05Speaker 1: the transponder snails. In this episode, everybody is basically on
- 47:09Speaker 1: a call with everyone else, and so whenever something is
- 47:13Speaker 1: happening to a particular group of our straw hats, a
- 47:17Speaker 1: bunch of other straw hats are hearing it, but they're
- 47:20Speaker 1: not able to see anything, so they don't know what's
- 47:22Speaker 1: going on, and they keep asking, can you just explain?
- 47:25Speaker 1: Please tell us what's happening, And sometimes they're not able
- 47:28Speaker 1: to sometimes they're just not concerned about explaining. Lufy's usually
- 47:33Speaker 1: the one who's explaining and communicating has never been something
- 47:36Speaker 1: Ify gives over much of a shit about so and
- 47:42Speaker 1: And in the midst of this fight against do Flamingo,
- 47:46Speaker 1: in the middle of the square, we have the dude,
- 47:51Speaker 1: the admiral who's blind. I can't remember this guy's name,
- 47:55Speaker 1: we'll get there in a second, but he is it.
- 48:00Speaker 1: This is the moment when Zoro finds out that he's
- 48:02Speaker 1: with the Navy and that this guy is like. This
- 48:06Speaker 1: is probably the reason why when Lufy said what is
- 48:09Speaker 1: your name? Who are you? And he said, I think
- 48:12Speaker 1: it's best for us both if I don't answer your question.
- 48:14Speaker 1: That's probably what he meant. Fujiitra, he says Fate can
- 48:21Speaker 1: be a cruel and ironic mistress at times, and the
- 48:29Speaker 1: fact that he is having to fight alongside do Flamingo,
- 48:33Speaker 1: it's really funny how much he hates this. Like I
- 48:39Speaker 1: I have to assume that this is something that a
- 48:44Speaker 1: lot of people who work in government jobs probably feel like.
- 48:50Speaker 1: You have to, for whatever reason, team up with some
- 48:54Speaker 1: folks sometimes that you wish you didn't, And I know
- 48:59Speaker 1: this it's just how it is in regular life as well,
- 49:02Speaker 1: and it can be this way, just as like something
- 49:05Speaker 1: as simple as being a consumer in the world. You
- 49:07Speaker 1: have to buy certain goods in order for your life
- 49:09Speaker 1: to work, but in doing that, you have to support
- 49:13Speaker 1: evil companies and be basically rubbing shoulders with people who
- 49:17Speaker 1: are monsters and who you well know are monsters. But
- 49:20Speaker 1: you can't get by without whatever it is that they sell.
- 49:24Speaker 1: And I just really felt for Fujita in this moment
- 49:27Speaker 1: because he just seems to be very ashamed of this,
- 49:31Speaker 1: And I know that part of it is probably me
- 49:33Speaker 1: reading into his body language because him being blind, it
- 49:37Speaker 1: means that he is not like his eyes are cast down,
- 49:42Speaker 1: and he just always has this sort of slumped attitude
- 49:46Speaker 1: that makes it feel like he is upset in a
- 49:49Speaker 1: way that he's trying not to make eye contact and
- 49:51Speaker 1: obviously he's blind and he cannot make eye contact. But
- 49:55Speaker 1: it's it just felt for me, and like he just
- 49:57Speaker 1: hated this and was doing what he had to do
- 50:00Speaker 1: because this is his duty, but he does not like
- 50:02Speaker 1: it and he wishes he could do something else. So
- 50:08Speaker 1: Lufy meanwhile, is still stuck in the coliseum and he
- 50:11Speaker 1: is trying to find a way out, and eventually when
- 50:14Speaker 1: he runs into Bellamy, Bellamy is like, dude, there is
- 50:17Speaker 1: no way out of here. I am so sorry about it,
- 50:19Speaker 1: but promise you the place is entirely surrounded by marines
- 50:23Speaker 1: and you are not going to get out. And Lufy
- 50:26Speaker 1: is like, you have got to know away. You worked
- 50:29Speaker 1: for Do Flamingo, You've got to know away. As this
- 50:35Speaker 1: is happening, all of the straw hats who are on
- 50:38Speaker 1: their ship and are trying to get out run into
- 50:41Speaker 1: the biggest pirate ship I think that has ever been
- 50:44Speaker 1: on this show, and it is Big Mom's pirate ship.
- 50:49Speaker 1: This thing is so fucking humongous. I don't even know.
- 50:54Speaker 1: It's the size of an island. It's huge, and I
- 51:00Speaker 1: am a little disappointed that we don't actually get to
- 51:02Speaker 1: see Big Mom too much in these episodes, but uh,
- 51:06Speaker 1: I'm still like kind of interested in her as a
- 51:09Speaker 1: character and looking forward to that a little bit. I'm
- 51:11Speaker 1: not gonna lie. So then the the whole conversation with
- 51:21Speaker 1: because I kind of jumped past it. But Diamante gets
- 51:25Speaker 1: in touch with uh Dellinger and tells him to lay
- 51:33Speaker 1: off of Bellamy that he has a new order and
- 51:36Speaker 1: that is what Bellamy overhears, which makes him realize, oh,
- 51:40Speaker 1: so then he was here on orders to kill me
- 51:43Speaker 1: like he wasn't lying. It's true, and I thought that
- 51:46Speaker 1: would change things. It doesn't. But Dellinger gets called away
- 51:51Speaker 1: and is very mad at the fact that he doesn't
- 51:55Speaker 1: get to kill Oh I forgot Dellinger is wearing like
- 51:59Speaker 1: pump high heel is don't you're supposed to be like
- 52:02Speaker 1: a twink? Is that what we're doing? It just feels
- 52:06Speaker 1: like we're really we've really got like a very like
- 52:11Speaker 1: femme sort of look for him in a way that
- 52:14Speaker 1: I'm not sure if we're supposed to be taking away
- 52:17Speaker 1: that he is androgynousts, that he is queer, or if
- 52:24Speaker 1: it's supposed to be that he's being feminized by somebody else.
- 52:27Speaker 1: But like the tiny shorts and the high heels and
- 52:31Speaker 1: the earrings are it all has Like the earrings are
- 52:35Speaker 1: not just stud earrings, they're like hoops a little bit
- 52:40Speaker 1: that look a little bit more feminine. So I'm just
- 52:44Speaker 1: wondering what the deal is. But again, this would be
- 52:47Speaker 1: the easiest couseplay in the world because those are just
- 52:49Speaker 1: some straight up plain black pumps. You could do that
- 52:51Speaker 1: so easy. And yeah, he keeps trying to kick at him,
- 52:56Speaker 1: and this is when Bartolomeo jumps in and stops him. Uh,
- 53:01Speaker 1: And Bartlameo basically is like, you need to get out
- 53:06Speaker 1: of here. You're gonna make your boss mad if you
- 53:07Speaker 1: keep doing this. And the way that he runs away
- 53:13Speaker 1: is so funny. Guys, he is doing this Phoebe from
- 53:17Speaker 1: Friends kind of run. He looks nuts. But Bellamy is
- 53:24Speaker 1: sitting there having this like flashback about the moment that
- 53:27Speaker 1: he was told to win the tournament and how stupid
- 53:29Speaker 1: he was and the fact that he fell for this
- 53:31Speaker 1: whole thing, and Bartolameo is saying to him, like, we're
- 53:37Speaker 1: comrades now, we're like brothers because we fought in battled together.
- 53:42Speaker 1: I never turn my back on a comrade and is like, honestly,
- 53:48Speaker 1: Bartolameo just keeps becoming more and more my favorite. I
- 53:51Speaker 1: just really really do like him so much. And once
- 53:56Speaker 1: it's like clear that we have got this thing going
- 53:59Speaker 1: on where he is going to help Loofy, and he's
- 54:05Speaker 1: like the one who steps in between. Oh my god,
- 54:12Speaker 1: why do I keep wanting to say Soba? It's not soba?
- 54:16Speaker 1: Oh my god, Sabo, I'm getting the vowels inverted there,
- 54:23Speaker 1: Sabo shows up. I love the fact that like Lufy
- 54:27Speaker 1: is reacting so strongly to seeing Saba because he starts
- 54:31Speaker 1: to recognize him and realize who he is, and Barticlameyo
- 54:35Speaker 1: is immediately like what are you doing? Why are you
- 54:37Speaker 1: upsetting him? And is so protective of him so immediately
- 54:42Speaker 1: I could not stop laughing. Guys, I loved it so much.
- 54:46Speaker 1: It was just I really really like how absolutely ride
- 54:52Speaker 1: or die he is. And he tells Loofy the thing
- 54:55Speaker 1: that I think I had said earlier was very likely
- 55:01Speaker 1: he intended to win the flame flame Fruit and then
- 55:05Speaker 1: give it to Lufy because it rightfully belongs to him
- 55:08Speaker 1: as far as he is concerned. And I just love
- 55:12Speaker 1: that so much. I suspected that was the case, and
- 55:15Speaker 1: I'm so glad. So once Lufy, apparently with like an
- 55:22Speaker 1: open heart, tells Sabo, obviously you are the one that
- 55:26Speaker 1: gets the flame flame fruit, like this is for you,
- 55:30Speaker 1: Bartolomeo turns over his utter loyalty to Sabo because this
- 55:36Speaker 1: is a guy who has Lufy's seal of approval, and
- 55:39Speaker 1: so clearly Bartolomeo is about to go into this just
- 55:43Speaker 1: completely ready to do whatever it takes to make sure
- 55:46Speaker 1: Sabo wins, and I am very excited about it. Also,
- 55:51Speaker 1: last thing before I wrap this up, we meet this
- 55:54Speaker 1: girl named Kowala who is on a transponder snail with Sabo,
- 55:58Speaker 1: and she has a very nammy look to her, but
- 56:02Speaker 1: with a different outfit very similar like hat with goggles,
- 56:08Speaker 1: sort of steampunk look Tosabo, and she is apparently like,
- 56:14Speaker 1: I don't know if she's actually romantically invested in him
- 56:16Speaker 1: or if it's just that they're sort of partners like
- 56:18Speaker 1: the straw Hats are. But she is talking to him
- 56:22Speaker 1: about Loofy and how it went and everything, and he
- 56:26Speaker 1: gets very emotional talking about it, and she teases him
- 56:28Speaker 1: a little bit about the fact that he's crying, and
- 56:31Speaker 1: then says something like, you're trying to like figure out
- 56:34Speaker 1: whether or not Ace would still be alive if you
- 56:37Speaker 1: had been there at Marine Corps, aren't you? And she
- 56:41Speaker 1: just tells him, who knows what would have happened, but
- 56:45Speaker 1: you have got to stop blaming yourself, and he says okay,
- 56:49Speaker 1: which you know, it's very easy to say, but it
- 56:54Speaker 1: seems like he knows that she's right. Just whether or
- 56:56Speaker 1: not he can actually internalize that, that's different question. But yeah,
- 57:01Speaker 1: I really really liked these episodes. There was a lot happening,
- 57:04Speaker 1: a lot of things move forward. Very excited to see
- 57:06Speaker 1: that Sabo is alive and interested in what's going on
- 57:10Speaker 1: with him because since he doesn't have since he wants
- 57:13Speaker 1: a flame flame proof, he doesn't have a double fruit
- 57:15Speaker 1: power of his own, but he must have something going
- 57:18Speaker 1: for him to have made it this far and to
- 57:19Speaker 1: have gotten out of there alive, and we don't get
- 57:21Speaker 1: that story yet. So eventually I'm sure we'll sit down
- 57:26Speaker 1: with him and hear everything that he has done, but
- 57:29Speaker 1: I think it'll probably be a while before we hear
- 57:31Speaker 1: about it. So all right, Well, I got to wrap
- 57:35Speaker 1: this up, but really really fun. Looking forward to watching
- 57:39Speaker 1: on Thursday. Again, thank you to Florian for joining me
- 57:43Speaker 1: in the chat. Appreciate you a lot, Bun, and until
- 57:46Speaker 1: next time to the lou motherfuckers. That was an Unspoiled
- 58:20Speaker 1: Network podcast.
