- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, it's Mark Simone. This is the bonus segment for
- 0:03Speaker 1: all of you podcast listeners out there. So, as we've
- 0:07Speaker 1: been reporting Iran out to get President Trump, literally trying
- 0:10Speaker 1: to kill him. They've issued all kinds of threats, and
- 0:15Speaker 1: Israel has warned him that they're targeting Air Force One.
- 0:17Speaker 1: It's now being escorted by fighter jets all over the place.
- 0:21Speaker 1: But President Trump revealing that he has left instructions if
- 0:26Speaker 1: anything happens to him to just wipe out Iran, bomb
- 0:31Speaker 1: them at levels never ever seen before. That's a great deterrent,
- 0:37Speaker 1: except these are people running around are absolute raging fifteenth
- 0:42Speaker 1: century lunatics. Threats and deterrence and all that doesn't seem
- 0:47Speaker 1: to work on them as it would work on other people.
- 0:50Speaker 1: But my money's on President Trump to win this thing now.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Gavin Newsom, you don't hear much about him in the
- 1:02Speaker 1: last couple of weeks. He's kind of gone quiet a little.
- 1:05Speaker 1: You remember about two weeks ago the Justice Department announced
- 1:08Speaker 1: they're taking a look at Gavin Newsom, probing Gavin Newsom,
- 1:12Speaker 1: investigating him. There's all kinds of money flying around with
- 1:16Speaker 1: the Gavin Newsom and with his wife. The wife set
- 1:21Speaker 1: up fundraising of philanthropy charity nonprofit and millions and millions
- 1:29Speaker 1: and millions came pouring in from donors, people to do
- 1:34Speaker 1: business with California. It's pretty shady stuff, but it's a
- 1:38Speaker 1: nonprofit charity. However, the Justice Department is saying they are
- 1:43Speaker 1: investigating to see if money from that made its way
- 1:46Speaker 1: into either the personal finances of the Newsoms or into
- 1:51Speaker 1: there for profit businesses, and they've started looking at that. Well.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Gavin Newsom says it's all political, it's a law, but
- 2:00Speaker 1: apparently it's real as far as the money actually coming in,
- 2:04Speaker 1: and there's a lot of activity there that needs looking at. Now.
- 2:08Speaker 1: The other thing is Gavin Newsom, you know, has gone
- 2:10Speaker 1: kind of quiet the last couple of weeks. And also
- 2:13Speaker 1: people are demanding reporters in the press demanding to see
- 2:17Speaker 1: his tax forms and there are apparently missing tax returns. Now.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Years ago, this guy was always putting out his taxes
- 2:25Speaker 1: through the years. Years ago, it was no problem. But
- 2:27Speaker 1: now all of a sudden, there's no tax forms. And
- 2:30Speaker 1: finally a reporter confronted him and said, where are these
- 2:32Speaker 1: missing tax returns? Why can't we see them? And Newsom said,
- 2:36Speaker 1: I know you love taxes Donald Trump, when has he
- 2:41Speaker 1: released his taxes? Well, plenty of times. But Newsom all
- 2:45Speaker 1: of a sudden not releasing these tax forms, which makes
- 2:48Speaker 1: the whole thing look even more suspicious. You know that
- 2:51Speaker 1: where there's smoke, there's fire, Well there seems to be
- 2:54Speaker 1: a lot of smoke here coming out of Newsom. He
- 2:58Speaker 1: previously had no problem releasing tax forms. But now and
- 3:03Speaker 1: he said, hey, I've released my taxes for decades. Well
- 3:06Speaker 1: that makes it me even more suspicious that you won't
- 3:08Speaker 1: do it now. And he says, you will have those
- 3:12Speaker 1: new tax returns. I have no reason why you haven't
- 3:15Speaker 1: gotten them already, but you will have them. Well, release them.
- 3:19Speaker 1: It doesn't take that long. It's not that hard, hey speaking.
- 3:23Speaker 1: California Consumer Affairs does this ranking every year of the
- 3:27Speaker 1: best to worst states. Guess where California is absolutely one
- 3:33Speaker 1: of the worst states in America. It used to be
- 3:35Speaker 1: at the top, used to be the very top of
- 3:37Speaker 1: the list. Now it's number forty eight out of fifty.
- 3:40Speaker 1: It's in forty eighth place. The only thing worse is
- 3:44Speaker 1: Louisiana at forty nine, in New Mexico at fifty. And
- 3:48Speaker 1: I can see that. You ever watch breaking bad in
- 3:51Speaker 1: New Mexico where they live, it looks kind of bleak,
- 3:55Speaker 1: and you know, even the wealthy drug lords living in
- 3:58Speaker 1: these like adobe houses with a cactus every place that
- 4:01Speaker 1: doesn't look like a place you want to live. But
- 4:03Speaker 1: California drops to forty eight, what's number one? Now, you'll
- 4:07Speaker 1: never get New Hampshire. And somehow New Hampshire became number one.
- 4:12Speaker 1: You know, over the last decade or two or three,
- 4:16Speaker 1: a lot of New Yorkers Massachusetts, a lot of the
- 4:19Speaker 1: elite Northeasterners moving up to Vermont and then Maine and
- 4:23Speaker 1: now New Hampshire. A lot of it's beautiful up there.
- 4:25Speaker 1: A lot of people moving to New Hampshire. You know
- 4:27Speaker 1: about this new trend gray divorce. Gray divorce is becoming
- 4:32Speaker 1: a big thing. It means older people as they get
- 4:36Speaker 1: towards retirement and seniors now getting divorced. It's a big trend.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Gray divorce is growing like crazy. Reason is, as they
- 4:47Speaker 1: get older, they've retired, they work their whole life. You know,
- 4:50Speaker 1: normally you're retired somewhere and you're going to play golf
- 4:53Speaker 1: or whatever. Now they want to get divorced because they
- 4:56Speaker 1: wanted to basically say i'd like to really enjoy myself
- 5:00Speaker 1: for once. I want to live the second half of
- 5:03Speaker 1: my life having fun and being happy, not with the
- 5:07Speaker 1: wife nagging or the husband driving your nuts. As they say,
- 5:11Speaker 1: the second half of life is too precious to accept
- 5:14Speaker 1: anything less than total fulfillment. So you got these all
- 5:19Speaker 1: these studies shows like younger people gen Z, twenty somethings
- 5:23Speaker 1: not dating as much, not doing. So it's going to
- 5:25Speaker 1: be the seniors that take over this world. They're going
- 5:27Speaker 1: to be the singles that are out there all the time.
- 5:30Speaker 1: But it's a big, big trend. So instead of I do,
- 5:34Speaker 1: it's I don't. You're going to see more and more
- 5:36Speaker 1: and more of these older divorces. So, hey, mom, Donnie,
- 5:41Speaker 1: you know he's been pushing this plan for faster buses.
- 5:46Speaker 1: I don't know. I'm in mid taw Manhattan. Every time
- 5:49Speaker 1: I walk around, you know, you're almost getting run over
- 5:51Speaker 1: by a speeding bus. So I don't know what this
- 5:53Speaker 1: concern is about faster buses, but this is a big
- 5:57Speaker 1: priority he's talking about putting in. This putting in that
- 6:00Speaker 1: we've got to speed up the buses. First of all,
- 6:03Speaker 1: speed up the cars. I mean, most people are in cars,
- 6:06Speaker 1: but I don't. I mean, most people don't complain about
- 6:10Speaker 1: the speed of buses. Most people aren't going that far.
- 6:13Speaker 1: And I've never heard me really complained about bus speed.
- 6:16Speaker 1: You know, if you're really in a hurry, you take
- 6:17Speaker 1: the subway. You're there in a second. But a lot
- 6:20Speaker 1: of people looking at what he's up to and what
- 6:21Speaker 1: he's plotting and planning, say what this is really all about,
- 6:25Speaker 1: because he's saying part of the thing to speed up
- 6:26Speaker 1: buses is they'll put up traffic cameras. You know, they
- 6:31Speaker 1: started doing this in different places in New York City.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Speed cameras. You know, you put that up. And what
- 6:37Speaker 1: you do is you put it up and you lower
- 6:38Speaker 1: the speed limit. If it's thirty five, you lower it
- 6:40Speaker 1: to twenty. Who the hell could drive twenty, So everybody's
- 6:44Speaker 1: going to go more than twenty, and then you give
- 6:45Speaker 1: out speeding tickets to the speed cameras. Well. Part of
- 6:48Speaker 1: this bus plan is they're going to put in about
- 6:50Speaker 1: thirty thousand of these speed cameras. It's a great revenue
- 6:54Speaker 1: generator for the city. It's an awful thing to do.
- 6:57Speaker 1: And if you think about it, well, if you make
- 6:59Speaker 1: people go lower the cars want that slow down the buses. Yeah. Yeah.
- 7:04Speaker 1: In fact, if you want you want the buses to
- 7:07Speaker 1: speed up, let the cars go faster. It'll help the
- 7:11Speaker 1: buses go faster. So, I mean, it's just crazy New
- 7:14Speaker 1: York City. It's government at its worst. There's another example.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Here's Nightsche City Housing. Nightsche the city housing projects. They've got,
- 7:23Speaker 1: you know, their own plumbers, their own electricians. And here's
- 7:27Speaker 1: one plumber. Turns out he's New York City's highest paid employee.
- 7:31Speaker 1: He's under investigation, but he's a Knightsche plumber, New York
- 7:35Speaker 1: City Housing Authority plumber. Five hundred thousand last year, five
- 7:40Speaker 1: hundred thousand dollars. He put in for twenty six hundred
- 7:44Speaker 1: hours of overtime. Nobody believes anybody worked twenty six hundred
- 7:49Speaker 1: hours of overtime. But he's currently being investigated. Hey, terrible
- 7:55Speaker 1: in Scarsdale this week there was a murder in Scarsdale. Beautiful,
- 8:00Speaker 1: peaceful Scarsdale. It's a beautiful suburb with what's that restaurant?
- 8:05Speaker 1: Chat is very nice, There's what's that great bakery Martinez.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Not a nice restaurant Scarsdale, but anyway, very peaceful. So
- 8:13Speaker 1: this woman seventy one years old murdered in her home, stabbed, beaten.
- 8:18Speaker 1: This doesn't happen in Scarsdale. Think the last time it
- 8:20Speaker 1: happened was a few decades ago. Turns out it was
- 8:23Speaker 1: her twenty six year old son. And this is like
- 8:26Speaker 1: a Rob Reiner situation. The son looks like he was
- 8:30Speaker 1: they say he was troubled. He was just really it
- 8:33Speaker 1: looks like he was a bit nuts and having all
- 8:35Speaker 1: kinds of mental problems. And same thing with the Rob Reiner.
- 8:38Speaker 1: You know, it's like she was trying to take care
- 8:40Speaker 1: of them. You know, they didn't want to. You know,
- 8:42Speaker 1: nobody wants to institutionalize their kid, but he probably should
- 8:45Speaker 1: have been. And again, just like Rob Reiner, the kid
- 8:48Speaker 1: went crazy, stabbed her, beat her to death. It's just
- 8:52Speaker 1: awful inside a three million dollar home in Scarsdale. Just
- 8:57Speaker 1: an awful situation. Hey, you know, Mom Downey with this
- 9:01Speaker 1: crazy government grocery stores and all this, These socialists are everywhere.
- 9:05Speaker 1: You got one in San Francisco. Socialists running San Francisco.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Now they're talking about government banks, a socialist bank. Now,
- 9:15Speaker 1: anything government does is going to stink. Anything socialists do
- 9:19Speaker 1: is going to really stink. So they're talking about opening
- 9:22Speaker 1: the first government bank, a city bank, not the company
- 9:26Speaker 1: city bank, a city blank bank would unlock financing for
- 9:33Speaker 1: thousands of housing units that lack funding to address the
- 9:37Speaker 1: housing crisis. It could finance climate goals or lend to
- 9:42Speaker 1: small business. You know, anytime you start making loans to
- 9:47Speaker 1: housing units that can't get funding, you go broke. That's
- 9:50Speaker 1: what caused that, you know, stock crisis, that mortgage crisis.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Anytime you put money into climate goals, you go broke.
- 10:00Speaker 1: So this government bank will go broke. Now we could
- 10:03Speaker 1: start laughing about it, but it's taxpayer funded, taxpayers going
- 10:07Speaker 1: it's taxpayer money they're going to use to go broke with.
- 10:09Speaker 1: So it's an awful thing. Now. You know, AI uses
- 10:16Speaker 1: so much power, so much electricity, and it uses so
- 10:20Speaker 1: many chips, the microchips, you know, it uses so many
- 10:25Speaker 1: of them that there's now a shortage, a real shortage.
- 10:28Speaker 1: And that's why the price of Apple products is going up.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Apple is so big and powerful they never had to
- 10:33Speaker 1: weight in line to get chips. But now there's such
- 10:37Speaker 1: a demand and all the chips are being used by
- 10:40Speaker 1: Amazon and Google and Meta and Microsoft that Amazon is
- 10:44Speaker 1: having trouble with the supply line and the price of
- 10:47Speaker 1: chips is going up, so it's going to raise the
- 10:48Speaker 1: price of phones and tablets and all that stuff. It's
- 10:52Speaker 1: a big crisis. But here's that's interesting Meta, which is
- 10:55Speaker 1: Facebook Meta, and this is what Zuckerberg has been up to,
- 10:59Speaker 1: is figuring out how to they're going to make their
- 11:01Speaker 1: own chips. They're going to make their own chips. They
- 11:04Speaker 1: won't have to depend on anybody. They'll make them in house.
- 11:08Speaker 1: They'll set up their own factories. And apparently Amazon, Google
- 11:11Speaker 1: and Microsoft are looking to do the same thing, seeking
- 11:15Speaker 1: to make their own chips. That way, they won't have
- 11:19Speaker 1: to wait, they won't have to overpay. They'll figure out
- 11:22Speaker 1: how to produce chips. And it's complicated, but these guys
- 11:26Speaker 1: are geniuses that can do that. Now. The only thing
- 11:28Speaker 1: is if they start doing that, it means they will
- 11:31Speaker 1: no longer be totally dependent on Navidia, which is the
- 11:35Speaker 1: big chip maker, and it's a huge stock. You know
- 11:37Speaker 1: a lot of people bought that stock and it's soaring
- 11:40Speaker 1: and it's been going up for years, and you're making
- 11:42Speaker 1: a fortune with your Nvidia stock. If Meta figures out
- 11:46Speaker 1: how to do this and these other companies, watch out
- 11:48Speaker 1: for that stock that's going to be a problem tourism
- 11:52Speaker 1: in Las Vegas. Well, it's dropping, still dropping. We reported
- 11:56Speaker 1: this last year, dropping even more because the Las Vegas
- 12:02Speaker 1: has changed over the years. I remember it was the rat
- 12:04Speaker 1: pack and tuxedos and gowns and classy, and then that
- 12:09Speaker 1: kind of ended after the sixties, and then it became
- 12:11Speaker 1: De Niro and Peshi and that crowd in casino, and
- 12:15Speaker 1: then that kind of ended, and then like the eighties
- 12:18Speaker 1: and nineties, it became like families and circuses instead of
- 12:22Speaker 1: a big shows in the showroom, and it was more
- 12:25Speaker 1: like an amusement park. Well, that whole family time is over.
- 12:28Speaker 1: They didn't know what to do next. They're trying to
- 12:29Speaker 1: go high end again, so they've raised the prices of everything,
- 12:34Speaker 1: and apparently the old crowd is leaving because now it's
- 12:38Speaker 1: twenty six dollars for a bottle of water in a restaurant.
- 12:44Speaker 1: There's so many of these hotel restaurants. They used to
- 12:46Speaker 1: be the cheapest restaurants, the Vegas hotels. Now many of
- 12:48Speaker 1: them are one thousand dollars per person, nine to ten
- 12:52Speaker 1: course meals, like the new hotels, the Fountain Blue, Las
- 12:56Speaker 1: Vegas very very very expensive. It's driving business down. It's
- 13:01Speaker 1: already dropped. It's dropping about ten to fifteen percent a year.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Visitation is way down, So I guess they're looking to
- 13:09Speaker 1: get that high end rat pack crowd. But I hate
- 13:12Speaker 1: to break it to all of you in Las Vegas.
- 13:14Speaker 1: They're dead, they're not around anymore. And the new high
- 13:18Speaker 1: end people, I don't think they want to go to
- 13:19Speaker 1: Las Vegas. Hey, this has been the bonus segment of
- 13:22Speaker 1: the podcast. Thanks for listening. You can listen live Monday
- 13:26Speaker 1: through Friday from ten to noon, or get the podcast
- 13:31Speaker 1: and listen anytime you want. Have a great weekend. Thanks
- 13:34Speaker 1: for listening.
