Transcript
- 0:06Hello. What's your least favorite scary
- 0:08movie, music release a scary movie, the podcast where we
- 0:16talked about the good, the bad, the ugly, and be of stirred and
- 0:19all of our favorite and least favorite Gary movies because we
- 0:22believe every horror movie rightfully, has its fanbase.
- 0:24And if we don't always get it, my name is Travis.
- 0:26My name is Jessie. Today, we are talking the 29th.
- 0:30Teen sequel technically. 47 meters down uncage.
- 0:35Yeah. If you're wondering why we
- 0:38jumped straight to the sequel instead of the original.
- 0:40It's because the only thing in common is sharks.
- 0:45Yeah, I guess and well, I was going to save water but like, of
- 0:49course, those sneaky Lynch. I think that's a thing inside.
- 1:00One. Okay, I don't have any
- 1:02announcements. Okay.
- 1:03Well I have our poll results, okay, so week's episode.
- 1:06I am very excited to hear. Yeah, I like this pole.
- 1:10I'm glad that we did this. So we talked about scream to
- 1:14last week. And during that episode, we
- 1:17talked about some of the rumored original killers that we're
- 1:20going to be in that movie that were scrapped whenever the
- 1:23script tweaked. We just wanted to know who you
- 1:27would have kept from that original.
- 1:30Draft. Okay, so the options, by the
- 1:32way, are Derek cotton and Hallie.
- 1:34So on Instagram, we have 11% for Derek, 50% free cotton, and 39%
- 1:40for Hallie. And over on Twitter 13%, Derek
- 1:4563 percent cotton 24% Hallie. So, it sounds like a lot of
- 1:50people want cotton to be the killer.
- 1:52I kind of agree. Yes, I think after so much of
- 1:57his deal is wanting to be exonerated for him.
- 2:00Just snap and become the actual killer.
- 2:02I think would be a fun commentary.
- 2:04Yeah, I think it would be kind of cool out of all of them.
- 2:07He has more of a past. So I guess it makes more sense.
- 2:12Like the other ones, it's just like the roommate, Halle.
- 2:15And then the other one is said the boyfriend again, which we
- 2:18had in the first one. Yeah, I think I would have been
- 2:20annoyed for it to be the boyfriend again.
- 2:22Yeah. And then what we got instead was
- 2:25Timothy Olyphant which is more of a, what the fuck.
- 2:29Why are you the Killer type deal.
- 2:30I mean, he's fun on screen. He's, I just feel like he needed
- 2:34more on screen. It is more build up.
- 2:37Yeah, yeah. He's, he's kind of a week
- 2:41killer, but, yeah. Okay, cotton.
- 2:43Yeah, it's unanimous. I mean, it's literally not but
- 2:47an hour in. Okay, unanimous out there for
- 2:50you guys. Not so much but everybody, it's
- 2:54more in favor of cotton. Yeah.
- 2:55Soon, our poles are probably going to be changing because of
- 3:00Can Twitter and its new Overlord.
- 3:03What happened? You have to be verified to
- 3:06create pools or participate in Polo.
- 3:08Seriously? Yeah, that's the new thing that
- 3:10they're doing. Yep.
- 3:11No fucking way. Seriously, that's so shitty.
- 3:14Yeah, yeah. So, we will probably have to
- 3:17stick to Instagram only within a couple weeks.
- 3:20Okay. It's always bumping over on
- 3:22Instagram post. Every Friday.
- 3:24You all are doing good. I appreciate the turnouts.
- 3:27All right, onto shirks. All right?
- 3:30Sure sure looks 47 meters down uncage was released August, 16th
- 3:362019. We watched it on Netflix, but it
- 3:39is also currently available to rent on Redbox YouTube, Vudu,
- 3:43Google play or prime. This was originally a Prime
- 3:46movie and I think it was an exclusive and that's why I was
- 3:51kind of surprised that we watch it on Netflix yesterday.
- 3:53I'm pretty sure that's where we watched it.
- 3:54The first time is because it was that was where was released.
- 3:58I don't think it release anywhere else.
- 4:00I remember. The first time we watch this, it
- 4:05just it felt like a good Spring movie for us because we double
- 4:10featured it with Spring Breakers.
- 4:14That's right, we did it. Yeah.
- 4:18I don't think I have ever watched the first one all the
- 4:23way through every time that we have.
- 4:24Put it on. I have fallen asleep.
- 4:25Yeah, yeah and I feel like they're fairly different movies,
- 4:31tonally. From what I've watched of the
- 4:34first one. I think that that's true.
- 4:36It's a lot. It's a lot more single location
- 4:40and the first one and I think it's very I get very freaked out
- 4:44by these movies. It's less the shark element and
- 4:47more. The stuck underwater element
- 4:49that scares the shit out of me. I think they.
- 4:52Yeah, they both work well, because this, that one.
- 4:55Yeah, it's all in the cage. This one uncaged.
- 4:59Oh, I don't know. So we get more freedom.
- 5:02Um but it's still a lot of underwater exploration.
- 5:05Yeah. So we did have some returning
- 5:10crew members so the writers director and music and I think
- 5:14the production company we're all returning.
- 5:16So it's the same dudes. Okay.
- 5:18Yeah. So there is that connection to
- 5:20it but story-wise nothing. Nothing.
- 5:23Okay, yeah, that's fine. Okay.
- 5:25So it was written by Ernest riera and Johannes Roberts
- 5:28directed by Johannes Roberts music by tommen Andy.
- 5:32All right, Tom, and I remember 70s a and I was just thinking,
- 5:36that's an interesting, interesting name.
- 5:39Okay. I'm assuming the special effects
- 5:41group was like an actual company because there were several
- 5:44people listed, but the head of it was Christian Mallet.
- 5:50They listed the company same in the opening credits.
- 5:53I can't remember sisters I missed it, I always miss it.
- 5:57I know. Okay.
- 5:58Starring sophina lease as Mia Corinth Fox is Sasha Brianne Jew
- 6:05as Alexa cysteine, Rose. Stallone as Nicole and John
- 6:10Corbett is Grant. And yes, that is Sylvester.
- 6:13Stallone's daughter. Yes.
- 6:15And Jesse pointed out last night.
- 6:18That there's also somebody that worked on this movie.
- 6:20Whose last name is Randall ambo. See you guys alone and Rambo and
- 6:23the same movie do. And it's kind of in an
- 6:26environment that Rambo would be taking place in, right?
- 6:29It's in Mexico. I don't know where I've ever
- 6:32watched a Rambo movie, but it's always in like the jungle, like
- 6:35Wilderness type area. Keep going.
- 6:37I just want to hear your theories on rainbows.
- 6:40That's that's what happens, right?
- 6:41He's like, I don't know, really anything about Rambo but I will
- 6:45say that it's about Sylvester Stallone, AK Rambo and he Maybe
- 6:53is gone Rogue and he is having to either destroy the evil
- 7:00people on his own or he's bad and now he's good.
- 7:05He's got to be good. So that's just one wouldn't do
- 7:06that if you were bad guy. Yeah, I mean that's it, right?
- 7:10Like he's like trying to either save a group of people or he's
- 7:13trying to take down the group of people by himself.
- 7:16Am I wrong? I'll update you guys.
- 7:18If Travis ever watches Rambo, am I really that far off?
- 7:21I mean, it's always in the jungle, right?
- 7:24I saw like a clip of him jumping from the fucking cliff into the
- 7:29water, which is a thing that happens in this movie.
- 7:33Okay, that's okay. Hanging head.
- 7:39Well, I think that this is budget.
- 7:41It's a very nice looking movie and I, I can't imagine it's
- 7:44cheap to do a lot of underwater filming.
- 7:47Yes, there's actually an underwater Studio that they
- 7:50filmed in. I was wondering how they did
- 7:52that. Okay.
- 7:54Should have 12 million. Okay, that's pretty good.
- 7:57It's pretty decent. Yeah, opening box office of 8.4
- 8:01million in a worldwide, gross of forty seven point five million.
- 8:05Currently stands at a 5 out of 10 on.
- 8:07IMDb did not realize that this released in theaters so I guess
- 8:11Prime have the exclusive streaming rights for a while.
- 8:13Yeah there were some places and in the UK I think it went
- 8:16straight to DVD. Hmm.
- 8:17So it wasn't necessarily like that's a big Global release.
- 8:22I mean that's a pretty Isn't gross.
- 8:26At least they made money off of it.
- 8:27Yeah. I said I'm leaving and I'm
- 8:31sorry, 5 out of 10. That's not bad.
- 8:33Okay, I pulled three movies from 2019 and the theme is movies.
- 8:37We saw in theaters. Hey okay.
- 8:40So the first one is us. Okay.
- 8:43Released March 22nd, 2019 budget of 20 million.
- 8:48Wow. You know.
- 8:50Okay, yeah. And a worldwide gross of two
- 8:52hundred and fifty six million. What about that movie needed?
- 8:5520 million dollars. Tim Heidecker.
- 8:58Ask because I Tim Heidecker, don't Cheap.
- 9:00It's Tim. I yeah.
- 9:01Jordan Scientology. Movie wife Elisabeth Moss?
- 9:05Yeah. She's high off of handmade cell
- 9:07here and he's high off of Tim and Eric, he's high.
- 9:13Yeah. That's I'm happy that he's in
- 9:16the end. That's a decent movie.
- 9:19That's one that you need to turn your brain off, but if you do
- 9:22that, you can enjoy it. I think it's one that is there's
- 9:29a lot going on with it and it needs a lot of unpacking.
- 9:32It is right. Really?
- 9:33Like most of it. Yeah.
- 9:36It's my least favorite of his movies but that doesn't mean
- 9:39it's a bad movie. Yeah.
- 9:42It's not really one that I would like be like.
- 9:44Yeah let's put on us. I think if you take away a lot
- 9:49of the underground stuff I think it's one of those that the less
- 9:53explanation you have the nice be more mysterious.
- 9:56Yeah. Just like way.
- 9:58A board with explaining things. Yeah, come on.
- 10:00Jordan, that's a sophomore slump, and I know that happens
- 10:04to some of them. It's okay, he came right back
- 10:06with, nope. He was like, I said, we don't
- 10:09want that much explanation. Okay.
- 10:11None. How about a monkey with a
- 10:13standing shoe banana? Don't not gonna explain that.
- 10:18It's a banana. It was a banana.
- 10:20Is she? I can't remember why it's a shoe
- 10:22because of monkey. Yeah.
- 10:25Okay, yeah. Just a stand-in shoe.
- 10:27Not going to explain it. Massacre, it's a classical
- 10:32anyway. Us has a six point eight out of
- 10:34ten on IMDb. That's generous.
- 10:38No, I think it's you still think that warrants a 6.
- 10:41Yeah it's pointing. That's almost seven.
- 10:43Yeah, that's pretty fucked your fucking rules.
- 10:46Even least successful in our eyes, film is still really
- 10:50fucking good. I put more towards 5:00.
- 10:54Hmm. I guess what to talk about that
- 10:57saying we should just have a whole Jordan Peele month.
- 10:58He got range with all of them. Yeah, exactly.
- 11:01Okay, second movie, Mama Mama. Oh yeah, I can't not sound every
- 11:08bit of like born in Tennessee. Yeah.
- 11:11Wow released May 31st, 2019 budget bug, Ted 5 million.
- 11:21Yep, I could see that. I'm just surprised Octavia
- 11:25Spencer. I feel like, it's pretty big
- 11:26get. Yeah, she is.
- 11:28Is but like, you know, she's probably the most expensive
- 11:31thing about that movie. Well, dried gross, 61 million
- 11:37was a good for them. It's good.
- 11:38Yeah. IMDb you five point six out of
- 11:40ten. That's that's accurate.
- 11:43This is a movie that you just turn your brain off and enjoy
- 11:45even more. So I think that this movie is
- 11:47more for having fun. Oh, yeah, absolutely.
- 11:50It is 100% popcorn movie us had a good message.
- 11:53I think this one is like, let's watch, ma hang out with a bunch
- 11:57of kids. And be a bad bad person.
- 12:00Buy it now and then finally escape room.
- 12:05Oh nice okay cool that released January 4th 2019 bug Ted of 9
- 12:11million so almost budget, almost worldwide, gross of 155 million.
- 12:17Currently on IMDb with a 6 point 4 out of 10.
- 12:20That one's good too. That's a, it's been a like, a
- 12:26uptick of Escape. Themed movies, I think.
- 12:30And I think that that's definitely like the best of the
- 12:33group. It's kind of like with all of
- 12:36the like the haunt movies that exist.
- 12:39Now my content. Yeah things going wrong.
- 12:42Oh yeah. Haunted attractions like, oh
- 12:44what? If there's actually murders
- 12:46happening but nobody believes it.
- 12:48I'm a sucker for that premise every single time same with
- 12:50these. Yeah, exactly.
- 12:51It's a good premise. I mean that's how we watch the
- 12:54movie with the successful realize woman.
- 12:58That's true. Yeah, so maybe we'll talk about
- 13:02it. Sometime maybe, maybe I've got
- 13:06three taglines. Okay, cool, let's do this.
- 13:10It's something about cages, right?
- 13:13No. Okay, the person is the next
- 13:17chapter. Oh wait.
- 13:20Is that on the poster? No, none of these is on the
- 13:22poster. Okay.
- 13:23So they're just not good. Yeah.
- 13:24Okay. Last summer, the greatest
- 13:27predator. I brought our deepest fears to
- 13:29those surface. Next summer, the fear goes
- 13:33deeper, mmm. I liked the first part of it
- 13:39better. You don't need to talk about
- 13:40next summer. Well, I know it's talking about
- 13:45the first, yeah, but still, just keep it at like, we're the
- 13:49deepest fear to the surface, whatever, you know, just keep it
- 13:53at that then you'll probably like the third.
- 13:56Oh, okay, cool. Fear runs deep.
- 14:00Um, no, I think the thing that I like the most is about it coming
- 14:04to the surface Because the shark does come to the surface in this
- 14:08movie multiple times. Not walking are coming to the
- 14:12surface was in relation to the first one.
- 14:15It wasn't in relation to this one.
- 14:17I know. I'm just saying.
- 14:19You got, I don't, I don't, I honestly don't know.
- 14:22It's going to be interesting to doing a tagline for this one
- 14:24because I don't know what to do. It's not Rambo, maybe it's Rambo
- 14:33we drew our own First Blood, okay.
- 14:39So this movie was announced In 2017 and as 48 meters down.
- 14:44Yeah, I remember you were joking about that.
- 14:47Being the title of the sequel. Yes, back.
- 14:49When we first watched this? Yeah, I was like, oh, there's a
- 14:52sequel to this movie. Hope they call it 48 meters
- 14:54down, and then you looked it up and you're like, that's what
- 14:56they're calling it. And I was like, keep this but
- 14:59eventually that title changed to 47 meters down the next chapter.
- 15:04And then eventually it was renamed to uncaged.
- 15:07Yeah, I feel like 48 meters down hits the campy.
- 15:12You can't be your nature of this a little bit better.
- 15:15I don't think they're going for camp with us.
- 15:17Not well too bad because they they achieved it.
- 15:20No, I do I think that this is a pretty like, actually tense
- 15:24movie. It's pretty decent.
- 15:26When it's not, I don't think it's super campy.
- 15:31I think it could have gone. Super hardcore.
- 15:33Can't be With it. I think the non shark moments
- 15:36are very lifetime, you think so? Yeah.
- 15:40Hmm, maybe maybe a little bit, okay.
- 15:45Principal photography ran from December 2018 to February 20
- 15:491962. That's, I feel like that's a
- 15:52really short time frame to shoot that much underwater stuff,
- 15:54because I can't imagine how much choreography under water flowing
- 15:59takes also, like underwater sets, there were Pretty crazy.
- 16:06Like he had to build like a whole lot City that Whirlpool.
- 16:09Mmm. How do you even safely film
- 16:12that? I don't know.
- 16:13I don't know how they do. A lot of that.
- 16:15Some of this. This was initially set to
- 16:19release in June 2019 but they ended up pushing it back to
- 16:23avoid any competition with Annabelle.
- 16:25Comes home. Mmm.
- 16:27Yeah. Same demographic.
- 16:28Yeah. The people really into the shark
- 16:31underwater. Movies are going to be.
- 16:32Yeah, if you want a Sharks equal.
- 16:34You. You're also going to want a
- 16:36killer doll sequel. I think that.
- 16:38I mean with us because I mean, we would have watched both, I
- 16:44think. Yeah, I we dropped off somewhere
- 16:46in the Annabelle franchise. I don't remember where the first
- 16:50we haven't watched any of the sequels have we not, we have not
- 16:54even though they're all very good but I watched one of them,
- 16:57don't we watch the first Annabelle in theaters and that
- 17:00was that we've watched many of the other contouring Universe
- 17:02movies but not that See. Okay, we haven't even watched
- 17:06the nun. We haven't watched a lot of the
- 17:08spin-off stuff from that. I had just I know it's a weird
- 17:13thing to build a verse on. I like them but I think that
- 17:17they work as pieces to a bigger story rather than being the
- 17:21focus. Yeah, that's kind of how I feel.
- 17:23I feel like I had a very early expectation set for me with
- 17:29killer dolls and Chucky and if it's not Like that it just
- 17:34doesn't, it doesn't ring a bell. It's different.
- 17:38It's like Supernatural. I like it.
- 17:41I think it's fine. I would be into watching those.
- 17:43I've heard that they're very good.
- 17:44I'm sorry. Are you implying that?
- 17:46Charles Lee Ray transferring his soul into the vessel.
- 17:51That is a good guy. Doll is not in some way shape or
- 17:55form Supernatural. Well, Yeah, I guess.
- 17:58But like, it's more of like a sweatshirt.
- 18:00I think he's got personality, Annabelle.
- 18:02Don't say shit. Exactly, exactly.
- 18:05Okay. That's it for my phone fax.
- 18:08Okay, no, no, I doubt there. No, that's fine.
- 18:11I wasn't expecting to see a lot. So I thought, they'd never, let
- 18:15me fucking talk. Whenever I, we were watching
- 18:17this last night, I was thinking to myself that there's probably
- 18:21a lot of really cool behind-the-scenes footage for
- 18:23how they filmed a lot of those. Yes, this is one of those that I
- 18:26legitimately want the DVD. So I can watch the behind the
- 18:29scenes stuff. I want to know how they filmed
- 18:31this it up on YouTube. I'm sure it's on there.
- 18:34Yeah, but You want to actually have it?
- 18:37Yeah, okay. Yeah.
- 18:38No. I mean, I like this movie.
- 18:40You talking to me? I get you.
- 18:43I'm talking to you Travis. Yeah.
- 18:46What's good? What's bad?
- 18:47What's ugly? What's absurd, what do you rate
- 18:51this? The good.
- 18:53I think that this is a very tense underwater movie because
- 18:59that is a very naturally scary setting.
- 19:02And I think this movie, it kind of reminds me of Like a little
- 19:07bit of that distant. Oh my God.
- 19:10I was thinking that. Yeah, like The Descent, but if
- 19:13they were all still hormonal teenagers, hormonal teenagers
- 19:17and underwater in a cave instead of, like, just ya doing
- 19:20spelunking. Yeah, yeah, that's shit.
- 19:22Right there is terrifying. And this movie hits on a water
- 19:26that stuff. At least in this week, an
- 19:28excuse, Nicole, for being a selfish self-absorbed brat
- 19:31because she's like 17. Yeah.
- 19:35Whereas in the, It it's full. Yeah, it's intentional.
- 19:38Yeah. Yeah.
- 19:39There's a problem isn't of being assholes.
- 19:41Yeah, so yeah I mean that stuff right there always gets me.
- 19:45The distance is one of the most tense movie experiences.
- 19:49We had like Caleb over the other like of while back a few months
- 19:53ago and like I just put it on because I was flipping through
- 19:56Pluto and it was on and then he was never about to walk out the
- 19:59door but then he just stopped at the door and watched it for like
- 20:01five more minutes. Well, and we were talking about
- 20:03like, without even bringing in the monsters.
- 20:05Hours of it. It's just scary scary, just
- 20:09caves and scary just under water is I honestly wish that movie
- 20:13didn't have monsters. Yeah.
- 20:14And this one, right here, at least with this one, the
- 20:17monster, is it still so plot forward and forces It Forward
- 20:22like, it gives them a reason for them to have to go.
- 20:26And it's another obstacle that they have to address, but sharks
- 20:31are real, so it's more believable.
- 20:34And, you know, it, Listen, whenever you see these stupid
- 20:37little vampire monsters or whatever.
- 20:38They are not, I don't know. Like it kind of I think it takes
- 20:42a hit but this one here, it just builds off of it.
- 20:45Makes it that much more intense. Yeah, so that's what it's got
- 20:47going for here. The bad.
- 20:50I think, I don't know. I think that, I think that the
- 20:55shark like, okay, at the end I feel like it had too many like
- 21:00moments where like they're like close to making it and then they
- 21:05get like pulled Away at the last second.
- 21:07That is literally the hour of the movies, the entire last Act
- 21:11of the movie. And like, it happened so many
- 21:13times per second act of the movie.
- 21:15Let's be real. And, yeah, but like, I was just
- 21:18thinking to myself, when we were watching that last night, like I
- 21:22really, really don't want them to keep doing this and then
- 21:25every single time that they would get close to safety, it
- 21:27would be like, and here's a shark in this gravity, which
- 21:31nightmare is it. That I had a problem with
- 21:33because it started off with like He dreams of than a dream.
- 21:37I think I want to say it was for maybe.
- 21:40Um I think you're right. Yeah, for it because that's the
- 21:42one that starts off with all the Dream Warriors like getting
- 21:45killed and then Freddy gets pissed awakened.
- 21:48Yeah, and it was just like frustrating because it's like
- 21:52okay well there's only so many times that you can do this gag.
- 21:55Yeah, but I think it's a little bit different in this case,
- 21:57because the whole tension of the movie is them trying to escape.
- 22:01Yeah, I know, but I just like, you know, do different things.
- 22:05Things. I don't want to have the same
- 22:07spook every single time I would like to have you thoroughly
- 22:12watch the first one. I would like to honestly and
- 22:15it's not that I'm falling asleep because it's a boring movie,
- 22:17it's just that we're watching it had times where like I'm close
- 22:20to falling asleep. Anyway, yes.
- 22:22Normally, I'm the one that falls asleep in movies, late at night
- 22:25on the weekends, but the that first ones.
- 22:28Scared me so badly but like, I could not fall asleep.
- 22:32Yeah, I remember you waking up afterwards.
- 22:36I'm scared, please be awake and you're like it's literally in
- 22:40the ocean. We are nowhere near the ocean.
- 22:42I can't protect you from anything right now.
- 22:45I won't get in the car and drive you to the ocean.
- 22:48I guess, I mean, I understand it.
- 22:50It's the ugly for this. I think that we see the shark
- 22:57well-lit too many times and it kind of looks a little, a little
- 23:01fake ksh which, you know, obviously not getting.
- 23:05Well, who's to say, obviously not getting real sharks.
- 23:08We watch the zombie and the zombie fucking wrestles.
- 23:12An actual shark in that movie, and it's like, like a 10-minute
- 23:16scene with a real shark wrestling like a real dude.
- 23:20But, no, I think that shark looks really good and moments
- 23:24when it is, like, masked in the shadows.
- 23:27Yeah, it's kind of creeping around.
- 23:29There's a lot of moments like that in this movie.
- 23:31That get me and the Absurd for this, this I I think it's absurd
- 23:39how they are all down there in that Hidden City and like I
- 23:45don't even know what's going on, they're mapping it out but like
- 23:49Where it cuts that Karl guy and he's like, what is he doing like
- 23:53welding underwater? Mmm.
- 23:55What is he doing down there? I have no clue.
- 23:58Exactly, I think they straight away from talking to you much
- 24:01about archaeology because they don't know much about
- 24:03archaeology themselves. The whole thing is like they are
- 24:06in the Sin City and they're supposed to know how to get
- 24:09around but like in reality, none of them really know where the
- 24:12fuck they are. Even the people that are doing
- 24:13things like they have the tracker and I guess at that
- 24:16works but they're like, I don't know.
- 24:18Oh the way out of this place. Well they don't either, it was
- 24:21just discovered. Yeah, but like even them well I
- 24:25guess I don't know, I don't know.
- 24:27This one is a hard one for me to pick up surd.
- 24:29Okay? So that's just going to be my
- 24:31absurd and I'm sticking with it. It's a weird fucking little
- 24:34underground city in the water and I don't know anything about
- 24:37it. Okay, I'm going to give this
- 24:417.5, okay. Okay, so for me, obviously, I am
- 24:49afraid of underwater movies. Yeah, it's just, it's a tense
- 24:53thing for me. I picked this one over the first
- 24:56one because I think it has a little bit more moments of
- 24:59levity. You not feeling quite as
- 25:01claustrophobic the whole time, you get the group dynamics going
- 25:05on and I do kind of love the constant.
- 25:08Like we're free. No, we're not.
- 25:10We're free. No, we're not.
- 25:11Mmm, I have fun with it. I think that the tension like we
- 25:16get so have taking them, uncaging them if you will, I
- 25:22think that it does a lot of good things in terms of telling a
- 25:28story because you have them moving around and you have way
- 25:32more ways for them to get into wacky hijinks and be third, and
- 25:38then try and find a way out, but then it's not a way.
- 25:40I like I just think it keeps it interesting.
- 25:42Yeah, definitely. Yeah.
- 25:44And also like introduces new elements to create tension.
- 25:47So I think it's I think it's really good the bad.
- 25:53Like I said, it feels a little bit too lifetime at points
- 25:57because it starts off me and Sasha was like she is not nicest
- 26:01day and then they're about to be forced to go on this boat
- 26:05together and Catherine is a bitch.
- 26:07And then the two friends come up in there, like come with us and
- 26:11they're like yeah, fuck you Catherine and then I was on
- 26:13there. Friends.
- 26:14Yeah. The beginning of this movie is
- 26:17really janky. It's all they're trying to like
- 26:20Expo dump. And then also trying to like,
- 26:23establish relationships in the quickest way.
- 26:25It's a very quick resolution to their like, ziplink Hood.
- 26:30Yeah. That just, you know, like I'm a
- 26:33businesswoman and I hate Christmas awesome about you come
- 26:36to the country and decorate, a Christmas tree.
- 26:38I let me know pass. Those could be so nice.
- 26:40Now, she I'm country now too. Call me Mom.
- 26:46Now we have Mom exactly Octavia posters.
- 26:48All. Yeah.
- 26:51Now, this also the whole thing with her and her mom, like
- 26:56that's not my mother isn't that like what she says?
- 26:58It was like, that's not my father, whatever.
- 27:00They like, they try and like force that whole drama into this
- 27:03movie too and that has no place in this movie.
- 27:05Yeah. No.
- 27:06It was the stepmother talking to Mia saying like your mother
- 27:11would be really proud of you if she goes here.
- 27:14And she's like well she's not now is change goes.
- 27:16Well, I'm really proud of you like showing that the girls are
- 27:20generally okay, with the step parents, but it's the
- 27:23step-sibling thing that they're they're struggling with yeah.
- 27:26Okay. That's kind of normal though.
- 27:29I'm sure. Depending on, I can mean that
- 27:32can be a normal thing and maybe not your experience, you're
- 27:35asking the wrong person with that.
- 27:39Well, maybe the right person. I mean, you have you've had that
- 27:41experience but like, I don't know, it's just different now.
- 27:44No Morgan and I have always been best friend.
- 27:46That's what I'm saying like it was a different in your
- 27:48experience and other people's experiences.
- 27:50Maybe it's not so nice. Yeah yeah the ugly.
- 27:57I feel like this isn't how diving Works.
- 28:01Probably not. I don't know enough to fully
- 28:04call it out but I feel like this is very misleading and I'm also
- 28:09going to say that I am so fascinated by the concept of
- 28:12diving but pod lead Has ruined any interest I have in it
- 28:16because I'm not going to go into a full explanation of it, but
- 28:19during the petite. So I go, they have like this
- 28:21underwater shoot and one of the contestants sunbae, some know
- 28:25someday is talking about how she's got asthma.
- 28:28And so going underwater, it's like freaking her out and then
- 28:31they went into this hole, deep dive about how ya having asthma
- 28:35and scuba diving is really dangerous because there have
- 28:37been instances where Paul and has been trapped in the scuba
- 28:40gear. And so then your breathing that
- 28:42in and I'm like well shit, even if there's Colin just in the
- 28:44regular, are I have, you know, asthmatic issues, let alone if
- 28:50it's self-contained air. Yeah.
- 28:52So like, this movie is frustrating for me because I
- 28:55want to go diving, but I am afraid to go diving and I also
- 28:58feel like this isn't how diving works.
- 29:00You want to go diving yet? You're terrified?
- 29:03Yes, yes, Travis I'm complex. Okay, I'm terrified of heights,
- 29:08you don't see me trying to skydive.
- 29:14Just not at me instead. I'm just saying, like I find it
- 29:19fascinating but I really think partially that's because the
- 29:22movie makes it look. Oh so cool.
- 29:24You're gonna look at Mayan Altar and that's what happens on every
- 29:28diving trip, right? Yeah, no matter what you done it
- 29:31all my shit. Oh my shit, welcome to the
- 29:37Absurd my shit. The ending scene where like,
- 29:44literally nobody is helping these girls that are being
- 29:48attacked by sharks. Are just like, so then faster.
- 29:51Yeah, throwing the Lifesaver. Yeah.
- 29:55Yeah. That ship was not equipped to
- 29:57have anybody go overboard. I don't think there was even
- 29:59anybody piloting. The boat.
- 30:01I don't think anybody there was like teenagers with earbuds in
- 30:05throwing Chum into the water and that looks like the only staff
- 30:08there. I don't know if this carries any
- 30:09weight, but there were people wearing red shoes.
- 30:12Shorts. Something about red shorts tells
- 30:14me that they're in control on a boat and that context only the
- 30:19aisle. If you're wearing Rich Works,
- 30:21anywhere else. I'll just treat it like a normal
- 30:22person. Yeah.
- 30:23But on a boat on a boat, you're in charge.
- 30:25Okay, Kevin, I'm just following your orders all set.
- 30:33I really, really enjoyed this movie and I'm also gonna give it
- 30:36a seven point five. Okay, cool.
- 30:38Alright, I'm glad that. We're like, right and wine.
- 30:40Yes, okay. Are we ready?
- 30:43I'm ready. Okay let's let's talk about
- 30:45this. Okay, so we are first introduced
- 30:50to somebody falling headfirst into some water.
- 30:53At first, I was like if somebody diving but then I realized that
- 30:56there are books and a bag falling into the water too.
- 30:58So probably not it turns out it's Mia.
- 31:02And she's being bullied by a bunch of Mean Girls and they
- 31:05pushed her into the pool, outside the school?
- 31:07Yeah. Oh sorry.
- 31:09I thought it didn't you? Catherine I'm Katherine.
- 31:13So her stepsister, Sasha, and her friends.
- 31:17Alexa and Nicole, see this. And she's like, she's not my
- 31:21sister. And me a Stomps away Saga, Lee
- 31:25and goes and gets her stuff. Mom's car and said shastra,
- 31:29Joanne's and I love the first couple minutes of this because
- 31:32it's no less than 10 people saying.
- 31:34Why is me all wet and nobody answering?
- 31:38And that's the only answer we do.
- 31:40Get is Sasha going. It's not my Nobody likes her.
- 31:43Well, yeah, they go back to the house and the dad's asking what
- 31:46happened to me as she just storms by the mom?
- 31:49Like, what happened to me? I she's like, I'll go talk to
- 31:51her and then she has to like, he has to grab Sasha me.
- 31:54What the fuck happened to me? You're not leaving because
- 31:57nobody likes her and he goes, that's a real.
- 32:00That's what happened thing to say.
- 32:02She got wet because nobody likes her.
- 32:04He's talking told me. That's what happened here.
- 32:06Sasha, that's don't physically possible suction.
- 32:11It's always She cried all over herself.
- 32:14So this is how we learned that we are in Yucatan, Mexico.
- 32:18Her Grant, Mia's dad's lost her stepfather.
- 32:22I he is a researcher of some sort.
- 32:25He's got a team, they uncovered a passageway into this Mayan
- 32:29city. That is now under water.
- 32:31So they're trying to prep it for some European archaeologists to
- 32:35come in. Yeah, that's that's all we know
- 32:38about the spacer mapping out a Mayan civilization, whatever.
- 32:42So he was supposed to have like father-daughter time with them
- 32:45this weekend, he's like, but I've got this cool shark-tooth
- 32:49for you and I'm also going to put you on a boat with a glass
- 32:53floor. That's a lie and you can watch
- 32:56sharks eat. Yeah.
- 32:58It's like a glass window. Yeah.
- 33:00Yeah yeah. Of course for would be kind of
- 33:02cool. That would also be really
- 33:04terrified would be terrifying. It's kind of like kind of like
- 33:07going back up into the sky where they have this in skyscrapers?
- 33:10Yep, exactly. That terrifies me.
- 33:12Me even more because like there you can actually just fall.
- 33:14He goes to let Mia says that it's for tourists and Sasha says
- 33:19she has plans. Neither of them is feeling this
- 33:21and he's like too bad. Yeah.
- 33:23Yeah. Like is this like a school trip
- 33:25to because the Mean Girls are there too.
- 33:27Yeah. I'm very confused.
- 33:28It's a good. Yeah, it seems like the classes.
- 33:32They're also like there's a lot of American seeming folks here
- 33:42in the Yucatan. Yeah, I mean he's they're not
- 33:44from here. They're there for his trip.
- 33:47Yeah. And she's already got what it
- 33:50seems to be established history with these girls.
- 33:53Yes. And I'm very confused by it.
- 33:57I don't know. I wasn't very like, almost like
- 33:59a military like foreign base type feel where it's like.
- 34:05OK, these kids are not from this country but they are all like
- 34:09here. For whatever reason.
- 34:11But I don't I don't feel like that's how it works with
- 34:14research. It's like this movie Wanted It
- 34:17set itself in Mexico but then it's like, but let's pretend
- 34:20we're still in America guys and it was filmed in the Dominican
- 34:24Republic, really? Yeah, I'm pretty sure if I
- 34:26remember reading that correctly. Yeah, it's kind of confusing
- 34:30whenever we're about to get so far removed from this.
- 34:32It's not. Yeah, it really doesn't matter.
- 34:34Except for in these couple of confusing School scenes.
- 34:37Yeah. So it's the Next day and they're
- 34:40going to go on the trip but the Mean Girls are there and then
- 34:43Sasha's friends decide to pull up in their Jeep and try and
- 34:47convince Sasha to come along and Mia also for I guess.
- 34:52And you know me it's a sad lonely nerd girl because she is
- 34:55wearing a very wrong. Yeah.
- 34:57I don't understand like they were trying to say oh she's
- 34:59looking over all its look at her and I'm like that's kind of like
- 35:02a normal thing for people to wear now, but I mean in this
- 35:05movie isn't even that old this is 2017 when they were 29, 1820.
- 35:10You said that they started shooting at 28th and rounds to
- 35:12in 2017 started shooting late, 2018.
- 35:14Okay. Well, 2018 either way.
- 35:16People Rock. Fashion changes a lot in five
- 35:18years. Yeah, that's right.
- 35:20Yeah, either way. These are they're all going.
- 35:23There are they all fucked off? They're not doing the tourist
- 35:26shit anymore that are going to go, explore.
- 35:29Whatever, Alexis says, because I guess what?
- 35:31Alexis taking the lead here, Alexa show us cool tourist
- 35:35spots. So they go into this jungle like
- 35:43area. I don't know what you call these
- 35:44types of like the Wilderness. It's not the world I struggled
- 35:48so hard to write. That's why I asked you.
- 35:50As I was like what do you call this place?
- 35:51I saw on Quarry. I mean it's fine.
- 35:55We're not geologists here. We found a cliff that leads into
- 36:00a lot of water. Yeah, so they're going to go
- 36:03party there and this is where the people that are working on
- 36:07mapping the place out. I have kind of set up.
- 36:10Alexa is dating one of the guys that's working there, so ready?
- 36:14Yeah. Ben and he gave her like a sneak
- 36:16preview of the place and I think it was not really allowed.
- 36:20Yeah. It definitely seems kind of
- 36:23sketchy and Mia's. Like, my dad is here today and I
- 36:28like now he's working on that other side of the city of the
- 36:31other entrance. Yeah.
- 36:34So it's convenient because he's not there to see them.
- 36:36But he's also close enough by The rest able to rescue you.
- 36:40Exactly. Yes.
- 36:42So we've got, we get like a little bit of a montage of them
- 36:46driving than hiking and hooting and hollering and then when they
- 36:49get to the cliff, the Music Stops, they have.
- 36:53This moment where they all are jumping in and music, we should
- 36:55take the path down and Sasha crabs.
- 36:57Our hands. Jesus fuck path.
- 36:58Where your sisters now and then they jump in together.
- 37:01I like to imagine that. This is like a way of them
- 37:04tricking her into getting herself.
- 37:06Wet again again. Yeah, we got you, we got you
- 37:09your wedding. Like she's like they all get out
- 37:14of the water and they're dry. Yeah.
- 37:17Like they like when did the Nets even notice and that's down
- 37:22there. Yeah, so then we have another
- 37:26Montage of them swimming and jumping, and hooting and
- 37:31hollering hooting and hollering. Yeah, so Alexa explains that
- 37:35this is the entrance to the city and that That Ben had showed her
- 37:40this spot and had even taken her into the like the first
- 37:45passageway so she could see the Altar and she was like, it's
- 37:48really cool. Well, all the equipment is
- 37:51conveniently they're set up for the archaeologists and I like,
- 37:53let's take a quick lap which is kind of a dick move for.
- 37:56The simple fact that this equipment is going to be used by
- 37:58the archaeologists and it's going to make Grant look like a
- 38:00douchebag. They're using all the oxygen
- 38:03that also very convenient that there's for exactly enough for
- 38:07them all. Yeah.
- 38:08Well Europe only Sons archaeologists in groups of
- 38:11four. Travis is this worries?
- 38:13Like yes. So Alexis like alright follow me
- 38:20because I'm the only one, that knows the way and I barely know
- 38:22the way be careful not to kick up.
- 38:24Any stilt, don't touch anything. So clearly people are going to
- 38:29touch things and kick up sold all yeah I got into yeah she's
- 38:35so they get through the first tunnel and they've got like this
- 38:39whole lighting setup. So she turns it on and it's it's
- 38:43really cool but it's also really creepy at first because the city
- 38:46was built underground and then the water levels Rose in it, it
- 38:51covered the city so that's a type of stuff is like if you see
- 38:56that under water Sir, it's kind of scary.
- 38:59Yeah. Like so when you first see the
- 39:01statues, mmm, when they light it up at first, I was like, oh my
- 39:05God, is that bodies? Yeah, it freaked me out.
- 39:08I mean, this is we watched the whole thing on Expo about
- 39:11underwater stuff and I can explain like, even just looking
- 39:13at wreckage has like shipwrecks underwater.
- 39:16It's just so it's strange-looking.
- 39:18Yeah. It well, your brain doesn't
- 39:19process it. Because this type of stuff isn't
- 39:21supposed to be under water. We understand it as being
- 39:24land-based items. So when Underwater, your brain
- 39:28is like this doesn't match anything that we've been taught
- 39:31over the. How many years you've been
- 39:32alive. Exactly.
- 39:33This is not what it's supposed to be here.
- 39:35Spooky spooky. Yeah.
- 39:37I feel like archaeologists probably have to constantly
- 39:39rewire their brains either their neural mapping is just all over
- 39:43the place where they just like fucking psychos sociopath so
- 39:47have any emotional like okay cool, maybe my shit maybe
- 39:54they're gonna do one lap around the altar.
- 39:57Sure. And then swim out.
- 39:58Yep, Nicole baby Stallone rainbow if you will.
- 40:07She Rumba. I was she thinks she sees
- 40:12something and it is really hard to tell it first, if she was
- 40:15just fucking with them or not because she's kind of a wild
- 40:18card, the show, actually, like there's activity over on like
- 40:23that side of things. So she goes to look at it.
- 40:27And it's a fish. Mexican tetra fish.
- 40:30It is a blind Cave Fish. It looks a lot like the piranhas
- 40:34and purana it does. I think this is probably why I
- 40:38remembered it as being a piranha type movie and yeah, sharks.
- 40:42Yeah, my favorite thing about this is raiko, it's scared.
- 40:45Well, I can't see, it's not used to people as is probably its
- 40:49first experience with anything like this.
- 40:50For a moment I'm like, wow, what a display of emotional maturity
- 40:55from Nicole who I remembered to To be completely, self-absorbed,
- 40:59and then Nicole immediately starts fucking with it.
- 41:01I'm like, oh, okay. There's the nickel I remember.
- 41:04And then the fish has its own emotional response, very mature
- 41:08and it just screams. Ah, that's what I would do if I
- 41:12was that fish, like, hey, I'm blind.
- 41:15I'm normally down here alone. I don't know who you are.
- 41:18Leave me alone. Ah, ah, it actually full-blown
- 41:22screams at them though. It's just like It was a very
- 41:27powerful scream and it startled us Nicole.
- 41:30She shoots backwards into a pillar so she's fucking up this
- 41:36like major archaeological Discovery.
- 41:39She knocks over the pillar, which hit some of the statues
- 41:42and it kicks up. You guessed it since silt.
- 41:46Silt, silt, silt, that's like, like ash.
- 41:56That's right. Yeah, so because this is, you
- 42:01know, but underground basically graveyard at this point like the
- 42:06the silt being kicked up, makes it blind.
- 42:08Makes them all functionally blind.
- 42:10Yes he's shit. Yeah just like that fish that
- 42:13they were terrorizing who are part of its plans like all right
- 42:16you all want to see this like yeah.
- 42:18So They're split up and they're like, trying to talk to each
- 42:23other and they're panicking. And then all of a sudden, been
- 42:27grabs, the Mia and just like, I you scared me and he goes, let
- 42:31me guess Alexa showed you guys and I'm sure Nicole and softer
- 42:36over there by the entrance to ha, ha, ha, ha.
- 42:39Last time I show her anything, but that's not including his
- 42:43dick. Well, he's all wrong because all
- 42:47of a sudden, the shark just shows up.
- 42:49Yep. Grab them.
- 42:50Okay, okay so yeah he's dead now.
- 42:53Yep he's very dead. Nay Mia swims back to Sasha and
- 42:58Nicole they don't believe that any of this happened until the
- 43:02Starks shark starts chasing them.
- 43:05So they're swimming in the shark is a little weasel chubbers
- 43:09chubbers you little chubbers and he can't quite fit down that the
- 43:13tunnel and he's wriggling and trying and it causes some
- 43:17collapsing and basically the girls can't get out the way they
- 43:20came in. Yeah.
- 43:22And that's very tense. Also, this is kind of playing
- 43:26Into The Descent type stuff. I was talking about before.
- 43:29Yeah, we're like caves collapse. You don't have that insurance.
- 43:32You not have to explore Uncharted territories to try and
- 43:35find your way out, which is terrifying.
- 43:37Yeah, yeah. But they realized been, how does
- 43:41guideline with him, because he called them basically idiots for
- 43:44not having a guideline of their own.
- 43:47So they're going to follow it to the entrance that they were
- 43:49working from that day. So they're going to go find that
- 43:54they check all of their are, and they're all between like 30 and
- 43:5740% of their are left. I have how do they use so much
- 44:01are. Well here's my thing.
- 44:03They've just been doing a little leisurely swim up until now -
- 44:07that Panic. Yeah.
- 44:09But we're about to get about 70% of the movie without.
- 44:14Yeah and they've got this. Yeah, there's are doesn't run
- 44:17out. Equally not only the so confused
- 44:20by it and they're like hyperventilating.
- 44:22The most the time too. Because they're panicking.
- 44:24Yeah. They're they're breathing way
- 44:25too much. Yeah.
- 44:27What's one thing? And that's the thing that people
- 44:29always tell you in situations like this if you have like a
- 44:32limited are just remain calm. Don't waste your breath.
- 44:36But how how are you supposed to remain calm in a situation like
- 44:39that? Like that's just immediately
- 44:41Panic music. Well, they find the line and it
- 44:45leads down some stairs, which this is just creepy stairs
- 44:48underwater. You're going even deeper under
- 44:50water. What was been doing?
- 44:52Why did he decide to go inside the house and just like, go up
- 44:55the stairs? That was very, he was doing his
- 44:58job, I guess? So yeah.
- 45:00It's just sad. They're the one you should be
- 45:02asking. What were they doing there?
- 45:04I still just don't really have a full grasp on.
- 45:07What's going down here? I don't understand.
- 45:10We are not meant to think too hard about it.
- 45:11I guess, I guess. We get a cool setting out of
- 45:14this, that's all we need to know Colony.
- 45:17Okay? So they find the end of the line
- 45:21because unfortunately, it's been severed.
- 45:24Yeah. And it's all in the catacombs.
- 45:26No. Would ya put on top of the
- 45:29Catacombs that they had already started?
- 45:32It's so creepy. Yep.
- 45:33So there's all kinds of dead bodies down there.
- 45:35They the wine has ended and then they end up they see the tracker
- 45:40thing. Yeah.
- 45:41Umm a What would be? Thank you guys, like a little
- 45:44tiny submarine that just kind of think of it like a Roomba, a
- 45:48water. Roomba.
- 45:49Yeah. And then the shark shark don't
- 45:53like it it attacks. So but it swims over them
- 45:59they're all really quiet really still and it's fine until a low
- 46:02are alarm goes off and then he comes for them.
- 46:06They go swimming they get through a little tiny tunnel.
- 46:10The the shark definitely can't get through.
- 46:13They found an air pocket. Yes.
- 46:15So they check their are percentages.
- 46:18I'm actually wrote them down this time they have 22 percent
- 46:22twenty percent nineteen percent in twenty one percent.
- 46:25So not not a lot not what you know they used 60% just doing a
- 46:31leisurely swim through the city, but all that, 10% going through
- 46:35all that shit. Talking Nicole said I talk about
- 46:38how fat sausages ass was, which is insane because Sasha's, like
- 46:41the, the First. Yeah, she's the tallest but
- 46:45she's the leanest. Yeah well I should've taken that
- 46:49stuff back. Yeah you don't have hair.
- 46:51Yeah, exactly. So yeah now okay they're in the
- 46:53air pocket Mia says that she's going to go down.
- 46:56Thank you, they hear music and they're assuming that means that
- 47:02Grant and his assistants must be close by so she's gonna be as
- 47:06going to go look and see if there's a way to get to where
- 47:09the music is and get some help. Yep.
- 47:13So we see in this area, Carl is welding and he's got a nice loud
- 47:18speaker. It honestly, like, if you're a
- 47:20person that likes to work alone, it seems like kind of a peaceful
- 47:22setting. It's very good.
- 47:24I don't really think the sound would travel as well as they're
- 47:28making us believe in this life because he's got a kaboom box
- 47:31under water. It's not.
- 47:32Yeah, I still like it's got to be super fucking loud.
- 47:35When it gets pulled out of water.
- 47:37Probably. Yeah, it's got it.
- 47:38It's cool though. I'll give them credit.
- 47:40This is a cool scene. The cool setting.
- 47:43Yeah well and then his music stops and he's like, come on
- 47:47guys, I was jamming so he goes to try and fix it.
- 47:50And this is where, oh, fuck, what song was, it?
- 47:53It was like a real slow ballad. Oh, I don't know.
- 47:57I was playing like after he got it fixed and then he was like,
- 48:00something weird is happening and then that's when the shark gets
- 48:03him. Meanwhile, me is like swimming
- 48:05around. Go and dad died.
- 48:08She says, my dad so many times in my day.
- 48:14So yeah, she makes it into that room and then she finds his
- 48:18body, which I feel like it's a callback to Jaws because it's
- 48:21very reminiscent of the scene where they find that it's body.
- 48:24Yeah. Yeah.
- 48:25Definitely. There's an emergency alarm going
- 48:29off. She grabs it.
- 48:30She turns it off which I feel like is dumb because you would
- 48:33want that. Yeah, like that is going to
- 48:36alert the other people that somebody's down there in
- 48:38distress sooner and obviously it's a place where they know
- 48:41somebody is. Yeah.
- 48:42So they they will check there. Yeah, so she goes to get the oh
- 48:49no, so she shuts it off. She finds Carl's body, she
- 48:52starts panicking, but then my dad jumps up and he grabs her
- 48:58and then they're all going to go get the others.
- 49:00The others at this point, have gotten worried.
- 49:02So they are also coming towards her.
- 49:06The shark is following and they all like take turns banging on
- 49:10the pillars to distract the shark before one of them.
- 49:13The welding welding machine welder.
- 49:18Yep, blow torch dip. That's it.
- 49:20Obviously, I weld. Yeah, I weld.
- 49:25Hey, one of them G. It and hits the shark with it.
- 49:29I'll hostile yeah. Oh God.
- 49:32Yeah, yeah. So they all make it out to make
- 49:40this other little like cave, entrance area.
- 49:43But Grant had just discovered. Yeah, nobody else knows it's
- 49:46there. Well, yeah, I guess I mean they
- 49:48had to have gone down there together, right?
- 49:52Because like you can't get up there from down here.
- 49:55You have to come down from the whole which is the whole no.
- 49:59This is a whole new entrance. It's different than the one they
- 50:01were working out of before. Well, then how did he get the
- 50:04little the Ascender? That's how he got into there.
- 50:07That's what I'm saying. So he had to have found.
- 50:09Okay, so he found a while on the land and yeah, okay, yeah.
- 50:12Got you? I got you.
- 50:12So, Explain to them how to use the Ascender.
- 50:14They can go up one at a time they're working on it.
- 50:17Uh-oh. Sharks found them.
- 50:20Yep. Nicole panics because Alexis on
- 50:22the asunder first, Nicole panics and jumps up fucks everybody
- 50:26over because it can't support both of them.
- 50:29Grant did a really bad job grounding this Ascender did
- 50:33because like I think two of them are probably like closer to the
- 50:38weight of him alone, so like what would have happened if you
- 50:42were trying to To climb up? Yeah, I'm good guy.
- 50:44He's just gotta between a couple rocks.
- 50:46Yeah, that's it. Like, it's not staked into the
- 50:49ground or anything. This is a wedge between a couple
- 50:52rocks. This is a moment that I'll give
- 50:54the movie some more credit for because they could have just
- 50:57simply had it fall and just get them stuck there, but I like
- 51:00that while Alexis doing that and the cold clams over top, it gets
- 51:05it loose, but it's still like it just falls back a little bit,
- 51:09which is enough to take Alexa and Dipper upside down
- 51:12underwater. It's drowning, which is extra
- 51:15fucking Spanish shark comes right for her head.
- 51:17Yeah, she has to pull herself up.
- 51:19I feel like it's a clause in every Stallone's contract that
- 51:23they must climb at some point during the movie.
- 51:26So that's what that's what she's doing.
- 51:28She's doing some climbing. Yeah Grandpa Grandpa and yeah
- 51:32she makes it up enough before the thing Falls to grab the
- 51:35ledge and then she starts to work her way up, but then the
- 51:38Rocks clips and then she falls back into the water deep enough
- 51:42to where the sharks. Us.
- 51:43Get her. Yeah.
- 51:44Which like she's annoying. She was actively bringing the
- 51:48group down. It was also irrational Panic
- 51:52from its. Yeah, yeah.
- 51:53Like it's one of those things that it's like, you get where
- 51:57she's coming from, but it's also really fucking frustrating to
- 52:00watch from the dry safety of your couch.
- 52:04Yes, it's really easy to be like, what, idiot?
- 52:07She deserved that she didn't deserve it.
- 52:09That's, that's a good tag on. Upsetting the watch from the dry
- 52:12safety of your couch. You know what?
- 52:16Yeah, I like, I like it. Cool.
- 52:18We have our tagline. So yeah, that's basically this
- 52:25is it's a problem, their pants. They don't have a way out.
- 52:29They do realize that the emergency alarm is keeping the
- 52:32Sharks away. So they've got that going for a
- 52:34minute. They keep turning off this
- 52:36fucking Panic alarms. Okay.
- 52:37They so infuriating. They think that that's keeping
- 52:41the Sharks away because they turned it on and then they're
- 52:43gone suddenly so they turned it off.
- 52:46Yeah. And grants like okay, well this
- 52:49does lead out to sea. See so we can find our way
- 52:51there. However, the currents are going
- 52:53to be really strong, so we need to stay together so we can all
- 52:56drown together. Yep.
- 52:58He didn't actually say that part out loud but you know.
- 53:00Yeah. I mean it's like we gotta go.
- 53:03If we stay here, we're just going to be dead.
- 53:05So this is his this is the deep blue sea moment.
- 53:08This is the call out to Samuel L Jackson because he has this a
- 53:12rally, the troops moment. And then, yeah, he's not like
- 53:15getting them route up though. It's go down there.
- 53:17Let's go find our way out. Whoa-oh-oh will We're going to
- 53:20kick that sharks ass, it's just like, yeah, we're going to go
- 53:22under there and we're we're maybe going to die but we're
- 53:26maybe not gonna die. Here the calm Adult in the
- 53:30situation because he is the only adult in this situation.
- 53:34So he's not panicking to try and keep them calm.
- 53:39I'm sure internally. He's yeah, losing as mine but
- 53:43you also have to be honest with them and be like we gotta go or
- 53:46else. We will die right here.
- 53:47So let's go now and then, yeah, the shark decides to just get
- 53:50them. Yeah, so he's dead now.
- 53:52So here's the thing, with this next scene, they put on the
- 53:55Panic alarm and they're going down and up until now.
- 53:59Now, everything has been very brightly lit in these caves.
- 54:02We've been led to believe that their flashlights are enough to
- 54:04light up the whole area there in realistically.
- 54:08No, no. And they suddenly make it more
- 54:11realistic In This Moment, which is a little bit creates a little
- 54:16bit of like, cognitive dissonance for me because you
- 54:18know, we've been able to see everything, but also holy hell.
- 54:22The shot is so cool of them just in this giant dark pitch, black
- 54:28pool of water Occasional so bad. Yeah, yeah it's scary.
- 54:33It's a very scary shot. It doesn't make any sense in
- 54:37context with the rest of the movie but you feel every bit of
- 54:40tension that these girls must be feeling.
- 54:42Those are cool to for these types of movies.
- 54:44Like, I'm not gonna question if it looks awesome.
- 54:46Yeah, it does here. And also, it's just terrifying
- 54:49to be swimming in pitch black not knowing where to go, no
- 54:53Direction. You're just kind of swimming
- 54:55aimlessly. Yeah, you have watched one, two,
- 54:58three, four. People attacked by the shark.
- 55:02I'm also just yeah you just learned that there's multiple
- 55:05sharks because we didn't even talk about that when the whole
- 55:08asunder thing was going down. It wasn't just one shark that
- 55:11came up. It was to Dos Mexican.
- 55:15Yes exactly. Yes.
- 55:19So, yeah, it's is tense. They get pulled by a current and
- 55:26Sasha gets pulled into this Whirlpool.
- 55:28That makes me think of Ursula's Basin of Poor Unfortunate Souls.
- 55:34No, it does not like it's just going around and I even started
- 55:41singing, Poor Unfortunate Souls. That's not right?
- 55:43It's it's scary. But kind of like at this point I
- 55:46would like it. It's saved them from the Eric.
- 55:49Yeah, sharks were there and then the Sharks got the fuck out of
- 55:52there with a since the current coming.
- 55:54But like at this point the strike was like I live here and
- 55:57I don't fuck with this. Wouldn't you think that the
- 56:00current would lead you to the other side though?
- 56:04No. Because it's gonna just slam
- 56:06them into some rocks and stuff. How Sasha, eventually spoiler
- 56:10survives this. I don't know.
- 56:12It's a mystery. Yeah, she gets pulled in and
- 56:14Alexis like, nope. We gotta go.
- 56:16She's dead. She's dead.
- 56:17And he was like, I I have no family now.
- 56:20Yeah. So they me and Alexa are
- 56:25swimming. They think that they found a way
- 56:26out. Yeah.
- 56:27Then they're pulling themselves along these rocks on the side
- 56:32next to the current. Yeah, it's really tense to
- 56:35watch. They've got a couple of near
- 56:37misses but they are almost there.
- 56:42However, a shark gets Alexa. She though pulls off her tank.
- 56:47She's like I'm going to make a break.
- 56:48For it, because they were right near that tunnel.
- 56:50They were aiming for. She was like, I'm gonna make a
- 56:52break for it. See if I can get there, but she
- 56:54ends up drowning I think. Like at that point though, the
- 56:57shark was blocking the exit that they were going for so she was
- 57:01just swimming back. She was fucked.
- 57:02No matter what? Yeah yeah what's what do you do?
- 57:05Do you would you rather drown or would you rather be eaten by a
- 57:09shark? Got to kind of pick your poison
- 57:11there? Yeah, I'd probably go with the
- 57:13shark. I like the thing mixed it up
- 57:15with this though, instead of it being every single death as a
- 57:18shark. A to death.
- 57:19I like that we've got and I liked Alexa up until this point,
- 57:22you know? Yeah.
- 57:23I mean, and I like that she, she went out fighting.
- 57:26Yeah. No, you're right.
- 57:28It is nice. Like you for this type of
- 57:31setting, like, this type of death is good to have to mix it
- 57:34up with the sharks. And I mean it's been pretty much
- 57:38all sharks at this point. Yeah.
- 57:39But yeah, it is nice. I it well, I guess you also are
- 57:42led to believe that. Sasha at this point has been
- 57:45swept away by the current and it's a goner.
- 57:47Yeah. Well, an Alexa It's pulled by
- 57:49the same current to, but they end up being reunited at like a
- 57:54little Landing Point. Yes, I sure.
- 57:56Like catches her. Yeah, on her way down and pulls
- 57:59her. And yeah.
- 58:00So they there's like a tunnel underneath them that they
- 58:05Slither into there's really no better way to phrase it that
- 58:08they Slither into it. That's it.
- 58:11Yeah, yeah. And the shark is following them,
- 58:14but the tunnel Narrows and they think they're going to make it.
- 58:16And then they're getting jammed in the Enel because it's super
- 58:19narrow. So they pull off their tanks and
- 58:21then they managed to make it to the surface.
- 58:24So there's a boat and they're like sweet.
- 58:26We're going to go to the boat because the it's not like a
- 58:29beach like there's a big Cliff above them so they can't just
- 58:32you know climb out. Yeah.
- 58:33So they're going after the boat. But a red shorts dude.
- 58:38With earbuds in isn't paying attention Man In Charge?
- 58:41Yeah, he's just throwing Chum into the water and me and Sasha
- 58:46are like, great cool. This is awesome.
- 58:48Awesome and they're like swimming to the boat.
- 58:51They like slam. It's the boat that they were
- 58:53going to be on. Yeah.
- 58:57So like slamming on the windows and people are like hell, trying
- 59:00to help pull them up. But as Sasha is climbing up, the
- 59:04ladder of shark gets her. And everybody on the board of
- 59:07this. Yeah, Sasha was the last one.
- 59:09So whenever the shark pool, Sasha down, underwater, Mia does
- 59:14make something clear gun. Yeah, she just grabs a flare
- 59:16gun. Dives under water and gets right
- 59:18there and shoots the shark in the face with a flare gun?
- 59:21Yeah, it's a very cool scene. Yeah, the way it's shot.
- 59:24Why? So they are swimming back to the
- 59:27boat. Sasha gets up.
- 59:29This time, Mia is attacked but she's got her shark-tooth
- 59:32lizard. Yeah, so she bites the shark
- 59:35back and this is kind of very much or like what I used to
- 59:42think of Michael Myers. I kill him with his own 07, with
- 59:44his own knife. You'll get them as right here.
- 59:46Sapa Trek with it, shark tooth. Well, yeah, they can.
- 59:49Nothing could be done about that.
- 59:50They're just that, it's just yeah, yeah, that bad.
- 59:54Vampire with its own tooth. Yeah, exactly.
- 59:56Yeah. Just what happened?
- 59:57Yeah, and like everybody on this boat is completely unhelpful.
- 1:00:01They're just like slim swim faster.
- 1:00:04They think that this is all rehearse and part of the boat
- 1:00:08trip. I wow that was a good show.
- 1:00:09I didn't expect that very cool. Yeah.
- 1:00:12And Catherine now has to live with the fact that the girl she
- 1:00:15bullied almost died in front of her.
- 1:00:17Yep. Maybe she goes on to be a
- 1:00:18humanitarian afterwards know. She probably still continue to
- 1:00:21boy her. She's a guy.
- 1:00:22You almost got it. You're wet again.
- 1:00:25They just push her back in, like, you gotta fuck.
- 1:00:35Now, I got a manslaughter charge.
- 1:00:36He's in prison. Okay.
- 1:00:41That's it. That's it.
- 1:00:42That's it. That's how it ends.
- 1:00:44There's not in that way ends with him getting on the bow.
- 1:00:47And yeah, happily happily happily ever after.
- 1:00:50Do they, I don't know. Hopefully, they get a lot of
- 1:00:53therapy. I mean, Sasha's mom, you messed
- 1:00:55up? Mom seems to have a pretty level
- 1:00:57head and I'm sure she was like, okay, cool, um, local
- 1:01:00psychologist or she's like, you killed my husband.
- 1:01:05I'm pushing you in the water you're both wet forever.
- 1:01:11Okay. All right.
- 1:01:13So final thoughts, final thoughts and all ratings.
- 1:01:18This is a movie that probably has no right to be any good, but
- 1:01:21I think that it does a great job honestly.
- 1:01:24Like we put it on, not thinking it was gonna be great.
- 1:01:27It's, I have so much fun every time we launch it.
- 1:01:30I mean, I wasn't expecting it to be that good again.
- 1:01:32Last night. I was like, oh yeah, I remember
- 1:01:34this movie. Okay, let's watch.
- 1:01:35It's gonna be for the show and they're watching.
- 1:01:37Kind of rolled your eyes a little bit.
- 1:01:38When I said, I wanted it to be and I think for the month and
- 1:01:40then we were like, Like you know what?
- 1:01:42Yeah, I've been watching. I guess I got shit.
- 1:01:44Yeah, this is fun. This is tense.
- 1:01:46I'm actually enjoying this. So you know, I think I'm
- 1:01:48actually going to bump it. Let's make it a, oh my God,
- 1:01:50that's what I was going to do. Hey, be cool.
- 1:01:53I think the only thing here's the thing I would say that like
- 1:01:58the character development make it a little bit better, but part
- 1:02:01of that like lifetime homework, schmooze Enos of it is what
- 1:02:08gives it its appeal for me. Yeah like The heightened
- 1:02:12relationship drama, it adds just the right amount of dumb fun to
- 1:02:16it. Yeah, I guess.
- 1:02:18Yeah. It's, it's weird, right?
- 1:02:20The movie kind of gets right into you don't really waste a
- 1:02:23lot of time. Yeah.
- 1:02:24Beginning. But then again, I guess you
- 1:02:26could. There's a lot of different ways
- 1:02:28you could go with the beginning. You can make it serious.
- 1:02:31You can make it stupid or you can do what they did here.
- 1:02:34Make it seriously. Stupid.
- 1:02:35Yeah. And or stupidly serious stupidly
- 1:02:38serious. Yes, that's probably better.
- 1:02:41So Talia, she was curled up the whole time watching this movie
- 1:02:45facing away from the TV. But I don't think it was because
- 1:02:48she just liked this movie. I think it's because the whole
- 1:02:51movie takes place underwater and that's terrifying to her very
- 1:02:54but I think she's also a little bit annoyed because of the
- 1:02:58treatment of sharks in those movies.
- 1:03:00Yeah the not portrayed very nicely.
- 1:03:02No they're not. No I mean they're doing their
- 1:03:04thing but they're made to look mean for doing their thing which
- 1:03:08and I saw this on IMDb we did not Watch the credits all the
- 1:03:12way through, but apparently, in the credits like it made a point
- 1:03:15about you know, sharks kill less than 100 humans per year, but
- 1:03:20more than 100 million sharks are killed by humans for.
- 1:03:22Yeah that's like a big problem going on right now.
- 1:03:25Right people. Shark fishing.
- 1:03:26Yeah. So I think Talia honestly, I
- 1:03:29think she's going to give this a I just going to give it a six,
- 1:03:37okay? Because she loves her shark
- 1:03:41babies that she's got herself sharks in her squid.
- 1:03:46Hmm. And I think they kept her
- 1:03:48comfortable from the dry safety of the couch?
- 1:03:51Yes, they did. Which yeah, going to the
- 1:03:55tagline. That is the tackle.
- 1:03:56Yeah, Zoe did not watch an ounce of this movie.
- 1:04:00No she is she did not she as soon as the movie was over, she
- 1:04:05She ran into the lychee have done.
- 1:04:06Just not feeling it. You know, like we're underwater
- 1:04:10explosions aren't going to happen.
- 1:04:11I'm not feeling it. She missed the flare gun.
- 1:04:13She did. That was a mini underwater
- 1:04:15explosion and underwater explosions can't happen.
- 1:04:18They do happen. They will happen.
- 1:04:19They will continue. Yes.
- 1:04:20Didn't have faith. She didn't, but you know, who
- 1:04:23did watch Scout. Watched every second of the out
- 1:04:25was feeling this movie. She likes water curled up,
- 1:04:28right? Between us.
- 1:04:29She was staring at it. She was like, I am a jungle Cat
- 1:04:34that swims. Through the waters with these
- 1:04:37sharks. I think that she thinks that
- 1:04:38she's a shark when she's in the water.
- 1:04:40She is like Will Ferrell in the other guys where he's tired?
- 1:04:46Yeah, yeah, he's going to learn where the line lives and they're
- 1:04:49going to develop something that helps them breathe on the land.
- 1:04:52Yeah, that's Scout but she didn't think it would go that
- 1:04:55way. Did you?
- 1:04:59Oh man, so what's your dream sequel?
- 1:05:01What's 49 meters down? What do we want 49ers sound?
- 1:05:05I don't I want it to continue to not be related at all, but I
- 1:05:09still have to be under water, right?
- 1:05:11Yes. Because that's where most of the
- 1:05:13tension comes from, okay. So they did the cage thing.
- 1:05:19Then, they did underwater cave, exploring.
- 1:05:22Let's go with like gum, like a rescue mission like a shipwreck.
- 1:05:26Rick type thing where like somebody like a ship is wrecked
- 1:05:31and it's crashed to the bottom and they sent a rescue squad to
- 1:05:34go down there to try and save them.
- 1:05:36Okay. Okay, honestly, I was thinking
- 1:05:38it would be fun to do like a, like a callback to zombie, since
- 1:05:44you mentioned it. Mmm, during this.
- 1:05:46And that's kind of how zombie starts is there, you know, doing
- 1:05:49a rescue mission to a ship. Yeah, they are.
- 1:05:52Yeah, yeah. So this is a lot on the surface
- 1:05:54but yeah, yeah, you can do. Yeah.
- 1:05:57And you know it's just kind of it's the same a different
- 1:06:02because you're still exploring like a structure under water and
- 1:06:06sharks are able to attack. But like, yeah and it's not
- 1:06:09quite as white, like it's not quite as open.
- 1:06:12Yeah, you know, because this underwater city we knew it
- 1:06:14eventually LED out to sea. But if they're trapped in the
- 1:06:16boat for whatever reason and they're trying to help, they're
- 1:06:19just trapped. Yeah.
- 1:06:20The Trap that's time. You got to get him out of there
- 1:06:22before they run out of air. Yeah, you know, there's a lot of
- 1:06:25tension there. Yeah.
- 1:06:26I think. They could make a good premise.
- 1:06:28Yeah. And maybe two of The Rescuers
- 1:06:29are like a couple that like just broke up.
- 1:06:32So it was like they're dumb relationship.
- 1:06:34Drama going on there. But I like it.
- 1:06:36They have to like at one point one of them saves the other and
- 1:06:39they're like, I'm a fool for every thinking that I could be
- 1:06:42done with our relationship. The other psyche.
- 1:06:45Yeah, the third guy is just like watching, he's like, okay, okay.
- 1:06:57All right, who did you relate to?
- 1:06:59I, who would you say, is the most cautious of the group,
- 1:07:07because that's who I. Yeah, I will relay it to me
- 1:07:10because I would be, I would be very cautious of anything under
- 1:07:15there, you know, I think that the idea of exploring stuff like
- 1:07:20that is cool, but like, I don't know, more in theory than in
- 1:07:24practice. I would like, yeah, in theory
- 1:07:26and if I'm going, I'm gonna go with professionals, not somebody
- 1:07:31that's like, oh yeah, my boyfriend, took me here.
- 1:07:32It's okay. I can do this.
- 1:07:34Okay, I relate to the European archaeologists because we never
- 1:07:39actually see them get in the water.
- 1:07:41And I don't think I would ever actually get in the water here
- 1:07:44that I would want to. You push people into water.
- 1:07:46You don't go in the water you. So I don't like people and I
- 1:07:48think people that aren't liked deserve to be wet.
- 1:07:50Exactly. Hey.
- 1:07:52And I will not change my stance on that.
- 1:07:54I mean, this is true strongly. I've said this about you since
- 1:07:56I've known you. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:07:58See how my hair is drying right now?
- 1:07:59It's because we're talking and you're respecting my opinion.
- 1:08:01So you're looking to like me. So my hair is drying skinny
- 1:08:04Powers. All right, so I did she get a
- 1:08:09review for this one? I did.
- 1:08:11Okay, okay. And did you know where I was
- 1:08:14waiting on this one? I remembered you, mostly liking
- 1:08:17this. So I found a 1 out of 10.
- 1:08:20However, it was really hard. Find one that wasn't just like
- 1:08:24the Smoothie stupid. Okay.
- 1:08:26Yeah. Because I mean, yeah, you're
- 1:08:27entitled to that opinion, but it doesn't really give us a lesson
- 1:08:30about. Yeah, that's a constructive
- 1:08:31opinion. Yeah, it doesn't.
- 1:08:33It just feels like you don't like the movie and don't have
- 1:08:35anything more to say other than a stupid.
- 1:08:36Yeah, exactly. Like why is it stupid defend
- 1:08:38your answer? Because it was very dumb.
- 1:08:41Okay, I sat down to watch this movie with unbiased hope as I do
- 1:08:45with any shark movie lover. It started off Bland and I was
- 1:08:49bombarded with cheese and vague character development.
- 1:08:51The old cliché high school, bully story.
- 1:08:53And the sister friends that stand up for the victim, the for
- 1:08:56shattering was the most obvious thing straight shot to.
- 1:08:59Let's sneak behind people's backs and give cave diving all
- 1:09:01while telling zero people where we are going.
- 1:09:03That's not even all of it sharks that can somehow live in a cave.
- 1:09:06So long. They evolved with didn't make it
- 1:09:07out. Yes, hold on.
- 1:09:10Okay. I know yeah.
- 1:09:12They can literally swim backwards and are blind.
- 1:09:15The real kicker is the fact that they go off hearing instead.
- 1:09:17Ed of the pores on their snout, oh, and get this.
- 1:09:19They decide to add in a few cheap jump-scares to add
- 1:09:22suspense and kill off. The people you're reading for
- 1:09:24except for get this, the sisters big surprise, the list goes on
- 1:09:27and on, but I'm getting infuriated, just attempting to
- 1:09:30type this review. Save your $10 and go buy a cheap
- 1:09:32pair of swimming goggles. If you want some real
- 1:09:34entertainment, dang, you know, I'll give them credit.
- 1:09:37I wish that it wasn't just like the two sisters.
- 1:09:40Like, that's so obvious. I really wanted the dad to
- 1:09:42survive. Yeah, he's being the sensible
- 1:09:45adult. I could say like maybe, Well,
- 1:09:47this is a flag or something. I don't know.
- 1:09:49Like up the sticks in a way but yeah, have him survives that
- 1:09:53way. We get the full family moment.
- 1:09:55Yeah, I mean, or just like you can have a sister died.
- 1:09:59I don't know. I get just I agree with that.
- 1:10:01That does feel a little bit too obvious.
- 1:10:03Like yeah, there's that tension between the two of them in the
- 1:10:06beginning and then do they survive together?
- 1:10:08So now they're so close and that it is all very cliche, which
- 1:10:12I've been saying all along. Yeah.
- 1:10:14Yeah, that's to me. It's not necessarily A Fault.
- 1:10:17I mean, depending on how you want to look at it.
- 1:10:21I also, you know, our favorite thing from November to January
- 1:10:25is to watch Hallmark and lifetime Christmas movies.
- 1:10:28Yeah. So clearly I'm not bothered by
- 1:10:31that. But yeah, if you're wanting a
- 1:10:33serious more dramatic movie, it does detract.
- 1:10:36Yeah. Definitely.
- 1:10:37And to speak to the Sharks thing.
- 1:10:39I mean they're able to make it to the surface like they weren't
- 1:10:42ever trapped. I think that they knew their way
- 1:10:44around well and I'm pretty sure Mia even said something at some
- 1:10:47point because they're like how did these sharks even get down
- 1:10:49here? How have they been down here?
- 1:10:50This long and she was like well my dad just opened up this
- 1:10:52passageway it's probably they swam through.
- 1:10:56They found the connection from the ocean.
- 1:10:59Yeah and maybe, they're right about this thing.
- 1:11:02I'm going to ask you. I don't know if you know, can
- 1:11:04sharks swim backwards or can they only go forward?
- 1:11:07You know, I really don't know because that makes sense.
- 1:11:09Like I've never seen a shark go backwards.
- 1:11:13And isn't there? I could say like gotta move
- 1:11:15forward, like fish or so are like sharks, just right?
- 1:11:23That's why I'm making it a thing of this not forgotten.
- 1:11:27I'm a fish man. I gotta move for him and I'm a
- 1:11:30fish. That's the thing.
- 1:11:35Okay there's something there right you thinking of Finding
- 1:11:38Nemo where they're all in the net and they just keep swimming
- 1:11:42down together. No, maybe probably know probably
- 1:11:50Shark Tale starring Will Smith. Oh man, that's probably got.
- 1:11:55All the answers that we need a bubbling.
- 1:11:56Yeah. Okay.
- 1:11:58Alright. So let's go to listener,
- 1:12:00reviews. So, did we got any?
- 1:12:06We got one and I think that this is the only one that we have.
- 1:12:09Okay. I didn't expect a lot of people
- 1:12:11to know about this movie. Well we have somebody on Twitter
- 1:12:14was like a sequel or an Extended Cut, which is a good question.
- 1:12:19Yeah. I didn't realize how confusing
- 1:12:20the name was until she asked that.
- 1:12:23No, in Feldman says, blind albino shark enough said white
- 1:12:29heart emoji. Shark Emoji.
- 1:12:31Okay. And yes, I replied you're not
- 1:12:36wrong and you're not there's a lot of that in this movie.
- 1:12:40Here's the thing. I think a shark movie can be
- 1:12:43really tense or it can just be dumb fun.
- 1:12:47I think this strikes, a balance between the two and I'm very
- 1:12:51okay with it. Is a movie that I am.
- 1:12:54I have fun watching that I also feel sweaty at times.
- 1:12:59Yeah, exactly, yeah. It's um, it's stupid.
- 1:13:02But it's stupid tense too. Yeah, it's it's like the
- 1:13:05strangers prey at night. You know what I mean?
- 1:13:07Yeah, it's a much more fun light-hearted at some point.
- 1:13:11It's really dumb movie. Yeah, it is also got really
- 1:13:14tense moments and really great musical Montage.
- 1:13:16It takes a very serious first movie and then takes that
- 1:13:20premise. And has fun with has phone with
- 1:13:22a while. Maintaining the seriousness of
- 1:13:24it too. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:13:26I agree with that. That's a good comparison.
- 1:13:27Yeah, yeah. So that's that's the only one
- 1:13:30that I have. Okay.
- 1:13:31So, Yeah, I guess consensus is people like this one.
- 1:13:36Yes, on this show. It's a approved show.
- 1:13:39Definitely, definitely watch it if listening to us, talk about
- 1:13:43it made. You think you might be
- 1:13:45interested at all? Like, pop it on Netflix.
- 1:13:47If you don't have Netflix pay the four dollars to rent it it's
- 1:13:50worth $4, a promise. Yeah, and I mean if you
- 1:13:54especially like shark movies or movies with a lot of tension,
- 1:13:58kind of like The Descent, you know, that's a, that's a good.
- 1:14:02Movie to follow up with it. Oh no, it's very similar.
- 1:14:06If you ask me, it hits the Beats.
- 1:14:09All right, so that's it for this weeks episode.
- 1:14:12Do you want to tell them what next week's is?
- 1:14:14Next week is my pick and we're going back to meta territory
- 1:14:20where easily with, let me look up the title for this again.
- 1:14:24I want to make sure I've got it. Exactly, right.
- 1:14:26Okay, behind the mask, the rise of Leslie Vernon.
- 1:14:29Mmm. So for those of you who don't
- 1:14:31know, this is, A nice little commentary on slashers.
- 1:14:34It came out in the 2000s. It is a mockumentary about
- 1:14:37becoming an iconic were killer. It's the, it's all about showing
- 1:14:43you from The Killers perspective, how they make these
- 1:14:47horror movies, these sweaters like 80 slashers, and it's got
- 1:14:51its just got really funny commentary on the genre, like,
- 1:14:55it's definitely made by smart witty people who love, campy
- 1:15:00B-movie slashers. Yeah, It's made from a place of
- 1:15:03Love. Yes of knowledge and honestly
- 1:15:05I'm super excited to watch it and talk about it.
- 1:15:08Yeah certainly it's not available for streaming anywhere
- 1:15:10but its a four-dollar rental from YouTube.
- 1:15:13Google play or prime. That's not bad.
