- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Bill Handle on demand from kf I
- 0:04Speaker 1: AM six forty.
- 0:09Speaker 2: I know.
- 0:12Speaker 3: We need to become an ethics issue, but it's beyond that.
- 0:15Speaker 4: It's sexual misconduct under any circumstances. Ethics means you can't
- 0:19Speaker 4: have sex with someone who is not your wife.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Okay, that's great. How about it's nobody's business.
- 0:26Speaker 1: And now handle on the news, ladies and gentlemen. Here's
- 0:30Speaker 1: Bill Handle FI am six forty.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Do'll handle here? Good morning, and.
- 0:42Speaker 4: It is a Thursday morning, June fourth. Oh, we're not
- 0:48Speaker 4: gonna Friday, so June sixth, D Day is going to
- 0:53Speaker 4: happen on Saturday. Okay, which we uh off the word
- 0:59Speaker 4: of cellar break, which we recognize D Day, which was
- 1:02Speaker 4: the Normandy landing.
- 1:05Speaker 5: Have you ever gone to Normandy?
- 1:07Speaker 6: I've heard that it's just an incredibly.
- 1:10Speaker 4: Powerful it is astounding. First of all, you have the
- 1:13Speaker 4: American Cemetery up there above above the cliffs where the
- 1:18Speaker 4: landing took place, and it is it's American park land,
- 1:21Speaker 4: by the way, it belongs to the Cemetery. Park belongs
- 1:25Speaker 4: to the people of the United States. It's not French territory.
- 1:29Speaker 4: So the National Park Service actually runs it and maintains it.
- 1:34Speaker 2: That's a great gig.
- 1:35Speaker 4: By the way, if you're assigned to the Normandy Cemetery,
- 1:40Speaker 4: they keep it absolutely meticulous. I mean it is it's
- 1:45Speaker 4: astounding and it is so moving that you look at
- 1:51Speaker 4: how many how many Americans died in the war, especially
- 1:55Speaker 4: that initial day.
- 1:56Speaker 2: I think, well a couple of.
- 1:57Speaker 4: Thousand died those first few minutes when they landed. A
- 2:00Speaker 4: couple things about the Normandy beaches, how far apard this
- 2:05Speaker 4: was surprising, and that is yet five beaches that the
- 2:09Speaker 4: Allies landed on, sword Gold, Juno, Utah. I'm trying to
- 2:14Speaker 4: remember the other one. They some of them, some of
- 2:17Speaker 4: the forces, Canadian forces for example, landed on the beach.
- 2:20Speaker 4: They just walked, literally just walked ashore. The Americans got
- 2:23Speaker 4: the worst of it by a long shot, landing on
- 2:26Speaker 4: the beach. How far do you think those beaches are apart?
- 2:29Speaker 4: If you had to guess, or were they right next
- 2:33Speaker 4: to each other? What did you if you had to guess,
- 2:36Speaker 4: no idea seventy five miles? Oh wow, the Normandy beaches
- 2:40Speaker 4: go across seventy five miles of territory. They were very
- 2:46Speaker 4: far from each other along the Normandy coast, there's a
- 2:50Speaker 4: whole world to the landing of D Day landing.
- 2:52Speaker 2: I mean that's there's books after books.
- 2:54Speaker 4: I probably only read twenty of them in terms of
- 2:58Speaker 4: what exactly happened that day and the follow up and
- 3:05Speaker 4: how it was created, and what the United States, what
- 3:08Speaker 4: the Allies did to hopefully fool the Germans and thinking
- 3:12Speaker 4: it wasn't going to be Normandy at which they did.
- 3:14Speaker 4: By the way, the Germans did think it was going
- 3:18Speaker 4: to be the Calais de Pai or pie by the Calais,
- 3:21Speaker 4: which is the shortest distance between France and England, and
- 3:26Speaker 4: they thought it was going to happen. And then there
- 3:28Speaker 4: are some some astounding coincidences. Hitler was woken up late
- 3:33Speaker 4: the when the Normandy landing took place. The people there
- 3:37Speaker 4: were very reluctant to wake up Hitler and brilliant so
- 3:41Speaker 4: so it happened way later. Irwin Rommel, who is the
- 3:45Speaker 4: general who was in charge of never mind, I could
- 3:48Speaker 4: go on for an hour and a half and I
- 3:49Speaker 4: won't do that, all right anyway, Good more, Good morning, Amy.
- 3:54Speaker 5: Good morning Bill.
- 3:56Speaker 4: Yeah, it's much easier if you asked me have I
- 3:58Speaker 4: ever been to Ghana? And the answer is no.
- 4:00Speaker 5: The conversations over what it would have been.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Quicker much quicker. All right, so Amy, good morning, good morning,
- 4:07Speaker 2: and Cono, good morning, hey.
- 4:10Speaker 4: Will, Will Cole Schreiber Yo yo, okay, Neil, last day
- 4:16Speaker 4: today before leaving tomorrow, have you mentioned what what what
- 4:24Speaker 4: procedure you're going to have?
- 4:25Speaker 2: Where do we keep at sleep the bariatric sleeve okay?
- 4:31Speaker 6: Are a permanent thing or do they put it up
- 4:33Speaker 6: for a while and then take it off.
- 4:35Speaker 3: No, it's not a band. It's actually permanent. And uh yeah,
- 4:40Speaker 3: So it's all liquids today and then I go very
- 4:45Speaker 3: very early in the morning.
- 4:47Speaker 4: Yeah, which is when you want to do it because
- 4:50Speaker 4: you're fasting. I remember I had, oh when I had
- 4:52Speaker 4: my back surgery, it was two o'clock in the afternoon,
- 4:56Speaker 4: No water, no food, enjoy yourself.
- 5:00Speaker 2: It was like young Kipoor. It was horrible. All right, Michelle,
- 5:03Speaker 2: good morning, good morning. All right.
- 5:06Speaker 4: Do we have a lot on the plate, Yes, we do,
- 5:10Speaker 4: going on as we can figure out. We try to
- 5:13Speaker 4: stay away from Trump news because there's so much, but.
- 5:17Speaker 2: It's impossible you can't. So we've got some of that.
- 5:21Speaker 4: The war continues on, just fun and you know, fun
- 5:25Speaker 4: defenses by the Trump administration. So and then a few
- 5:29Speaker 4: fun topics too, because they're not going to get very serious.
- 5:31Speaker 2: So let's do it, guys. It is time for.
- 5:33Speaker 4: Handle on the news, Amy Neil and me late story
- 5:42Speaker 4: and I'm going to do.
- 5:42Speaker 2: You this one. At seven o'clock, the House for the
- 5:45Speaker 2: first time approved that War Powers Resolution and a war
- 5:50Speaker 2: Powers resolution. Currently the law is that it is.
- 5:54Speaker 4: This was based after Nixon got involved in the war
- 6:00Speaker 4: in Vietnam and actually changed it after a few years.
- 6:04Speaker 4: In any case, war Power's Resolution says that the president
- 6:07Speaker 4: sends military troops in goes to war. Quote, he or
- 6:13Speaker 4: she only has sixty days and must go to Congress
- 6:16Speaker 4: to extend that. And of course President Trump is saying,
- 6:19Speaker 4: oh no, no, no, not And it's interesting his and
- 6:23Speaker 4: there actually is a rationale. He said, since there is
- 6:26Speaker 4: a cease fire, there is no war. Therefore we don't
- 6:31Speaker 4: need a war resolution. You don't have to pass it
- 6:33Speaker 4: because it's unnecessary. Of course, Mike Johnson, you know, every morning,
- 6:37Speaker 4: stands up and goes bark bark, bark, bark. As the
- 6:41Speaker 4: President when he meets him says heal, And there's Mike
- 6:44Speaker 4: Johnson on his haunches doing whatever the President wants.
- 6:51Speaker 5: Amy sleeping with the enemy.
- 6:54Speaker 6: A guy from Newport Beach has been arrested for allegedly
- 6:58Speaker 6: selling US computer technology to the Iranian government, including to
- 7:02Speaker 6: the agency responsible for Iran's nuclear program. His name is
- 7:07Speaker 6: Jim she'd Gom. He's the CEO of an Iran based
- 7:10Speaker 6: technology company. He lives in a thirty five million dollar
- 7:14Speaker 6: mansion in Orange County and is a dual US Iranian citizen.
- 7:20Speaker 6: Bill A Sale, the attorney US attorney Bill A Sale,
- 7:27Speaker 6: said he did a lot to cover his tracks. He
- 7:29Speaker 6: would not ship things directly to Iran. He would ship
- 7:32Speaker 6: them to other countries first and then from there they
- 7:35Speaker 6: would make their way to Iran. And we're talking about
- 7:37Speaker 6: like two hundred and fifty metric tons of gear.
- 7:39Speaker 7: Did you so? He lives in this huge mansion.
- 7:42Speaker 8: But this started out as a tax investigation because he
- 7:45Speaker 8: was only claiming like that he made twenty one thousand
- 7:48Speaker 8: dollars a year in taxes and he was claiming the
- 7:50Speaker 8: low income tax credit.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Oh my serious for him? Here's my question.
- 7:54Speaker 4: It's an Iran based technology company, and I don't quite
- 8:00Speaker 4: understand that he sold Iran sophisticated UH technology. But the
- 8:07Speaker 4: company's in Iran or it just started in Iran. I
- 8:11Speaker 4: don't understand, and the story doesn't tell us.
- 8:14Speaker 5: Well, he was selling it to Iran.
- 8:16Speaker 2: It might be, but it's based in Iran.
- 8:20Speaker 5: But he's selling the stuff to.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Iran government of Iran. So I have a question.
- 8:26Speaker 4: How does Iran let a company that's on it in
- 8:30Speaker 4: its soil then follow the sanction saying you can have
- 8:35Speaker 4: a company here, but you can't sell We're not going
- 8:38Speaker 4: to buy it and you can't sell it, or more importantly,
- 8:40Speaker 4: you can't sell it. I don't understand how that works
- 8:42Speaker 4: other than it started in Iran. Maybe there's offices in
- 8:45Speaker 4: Iran and nothing happens in Iran other than a po box.
- 8:52Speaker 2: Okay, all right, didn't it? What's that that helped understanding it?
- 8:58Speaker 2: Didn't it? Because I have no idea? Yeah, full ceasefires.
- 9:04Speaker 3: Ceasefire, as we know in Lebanon is one of the
- 9:06Speaker 3: key demands uh He running and officials have made as
- 9:10Speaker 3: part of their negotiations with the Trump administration as far
- 9:14Speaker 3: as ending the war. Right, well, it looks like Israel
- 9:19Speaker 3: Lebanon have agreed to implement a full ceasefire contingent on
- 9:24Speaker 3: hesblah stopping the attacks and withdrawing its operatives from the
- 9:29Speaker 3: area there. So this is a joint statement of the US,
- 9:34Speaker 3: Israel and Lebanon. We'll see if this helps.
- 9:37Speaker 6: You know what, before you commentate on this, Hesbela came
- 9:43Speaker 6: out this morning and said, no, we don't agree.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Here's the exactly to that point.
- 9:48Speaker 4: You know what's missing in this missive in this announcement,
- 9:53Speaker 4: hisblah and they're the ones that are at war. The
- 9:56Speaker 4: government of Lebanon is not. His blaw is an army
- 10:01Speaker 4: onto itself and ignores the official government of Lebanon, especially
- 10:06Speaker 4: in the area near the Lutani River, which is north
- 10:08Speaker 4: of the border a little bit, and that is an
- 10:12Speaker 4: area that Hasbola completely controls.
- 10:14Speaker 2: So this is this is pablum is what it is.
- 10:19Speaker 2: This means nothing.
- 10:20Speaker 3: But you also have you know this Hesbelah, which is
- 10:24Speaker 3: accountable to whom.
- 10:26Speaker 4: Nobody, the proxy of Iran. Theoretically Iran tells it what
- 10:31Speaker 4: to do. Also his Belah. I don't know why they
- 10:36Speaker 4: did it other than they were cow telling to their superiors,
- 10:42Speaker 4: being Iran. And that is when the war in Iran started.
- 10:46Speaker 4: When US attacked Iran and was not attacking Lebanon. Had
- 10:50Speaker 4: nothing to do with Lebanon, Hezbola decided to start firing
- 10:54Speaker 4: missiles into Israel in solidarity of Iran. That sure worked
- 11:00Speaker 4: out for them, didn't it. Look at the damage that's
- 11:03Speaker 4: happened in South Lebanon and Beirut, the capital of Lebanon.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Okay, moving ahead.
- 11:08Speaker 6: Things that go boom in the night, Well, there were helicopters,
- 11:12Speaker 6: explosions and simulated gunfire. It was part of a US
- 11:16Speaker 6: military training exercise that happened last night in both Pasadena
- 11:22Speaker 6: and in Irvine. Both exercises apparently part of regular training
- 11:26Speaker 6: the military does on an ongoing basis. That's according to
- 11:30Speaker 6: city spokesperson for Pasadena, Lisa dr Darien. But council member
- 11:35Speaker 6: Rick Cole is ticked off. He said, I was outraged
- 11:38Speaker 6: by this. The city was informed just today, meaning yesterday,
- 11:42Speaker 6: and was told not to release information about the exercises
- 11:45Speaker 6: until five thirty pm.
- 11:47Speaker 4: Does anybody know that Pasadena and Irvine even had military exercises?
- 11:53Speaker 4: Certainly Camp Pendleton does along the water the marine base,
- 11:57Speaker 4: but exercises in passages in Irvine.
- 12:01Speaker 8: I've lived in near Pasadena for twenty five years now
- 12:05Speaker 8: and I've never heard of this happening.
- 12:07Speaker 5: Ever.
- 12:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't get this. I don't I found in
- 12:12Speaker 2: the city Irvine.
- 12:14Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean I saw it yesterday.
- 12:16Speaker 8: I saw it flash and I put it on all
- 12:17Speaker 8: of our socials here at KFI too, just because I
- 12:20Speaker 8: thought people should know.
- 12:22Speaker 6: That you're going to hear explosions in gunfire.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:24Speaker 4: And this is like downtown Pasadena and Irvine Alton Parkway
- 12:29Speaker 4: in Irvine Boulevard.
- 12:31Speaker 2: I just it's weird. I don't get it.
- 12:35Speaker 3: All right, La Mayo primary. You've got Bass leading, but
- 12:41Speaker 3: Pratt still stays in his position for this historic runoff
- 12:46Speaker 3: that will happen in November. So even you know, his
- 12:51Speaker 3: votes keep coming in. It doesn't look like city council women.
- 12:54Speaker 3: Thank god, Nitthia Rahman is going to clear that space.
- 13:00Speaker 2: Let me ask you a question.
- 13:01Speaker 4: So you've got Karen Bass, who is liberal but you know,
- 13:06Speaker 4: closer to the middle. You've got Ramen who has a
- 13:11Speaker 4: portrait of Karl Marx in her office, and you've got
- 13:16Speaker 4: Spencer Pratt, who would love to dance with the president
- 13:20Speaker 4: if you possibly could. It's where are you going to
- 13:24Speaker 4: go with that? Especially in Los Angeles.
- 13:26Speaker 2: This is the.
- 13:27Speaker 3: First time in twenty one years a sitting in La
- 13:30Speaker 3: Mayor has been forced into a general election runof.
- 13:34Speaker 4: Look at the politics, but it doesn't matter the outcome.
- 13:36Speaker 4: We know what's going to happen.
- 13:37Speaker 3: Yeah, but you can you say every time you know
- 13:41Speaker 3: a Trump or a Republican goes down, you go see
- 13:46Speaker 3: this is people voting against the administration. But you've got
- 13:51Speaker 3: a conservative leading the pack in the gubernatorial race, and
- 13:58Speaker 3: you've got a Republican essentially coming in second and a
- 14:03Speaker 3: mayor that couldn't couldn't even hold on to hit the incumbency.
- 14:09Speaker 2: But look at but hang on a minute.
- 14:11Speaker 4: That is because Garant Karen Bass was by herself and
- 14:15Speaker 4: Pratt Karen Bass and Robin split the vote. Because the
- 14:21Speaker 4: people that voted for Ramen are moving over to Karen
- 14:24Speaker 4: Karen Bass.
- 14:26Speaker 2: It's going to be a wipeout.
- 14:28Speaker 3: There were other Republicans on that not did anybody paid
- 14:32Speaker 3: attention to it? Was the last time you saw a
- 14:34Speaker 3: Republican get this high during a primary?
- 14:37Speaker 5: You know, it.
- 14:38Speaker 4: Depended on you know, I don't remember it's getting that high.
- 14:42Speaker 2: And you're right, I've never.
- 14:43Speaker 3: Seen something happening, you got it.
- 14:45Speaker 4: Well, yeah, no, there is something happening, and that's this
- 14:47Speaker 4: general malaise and the general tiredness of the electorate. But
- 14:53Speaker 4: you know, look what's going to happen with Hilton on
- 14:56Speaker 4: the gubernatorial race. But Sarah's going to get it because
- 14:58Speaker 4: the Democrats split the vote and now there's only one Democrat.
- 15:03Speaker 6: Yes, Styer got like almost twenty percent and Sarah's got
- 15:06Speaker 6: like twenty six percent.
- 15:07Speaker 4: Where and where are the sire people going to go Hilton?
- 15:12Speaker 2: Of course not, They're going to go to the Democrat.
- 15:15Speaker 4: So if you look at the numbers, it's not even
- 15:18Speaker 4: going to be close. We it's it's we're a democratic
- 15:23Speaker 4: state and a democratic city. You know what you have
- 15:25Speaker 4: people Huntington Beach. Huntington Beach is the outlier.
- 15:29Speaker 6: What what what if people were really just fed up
- 15:31Speaker 6: and said, I don't care if there's an R or
- 15:34Speaker 6: a D next to it, something's got to give.
- 15:36Speaker 4: Here, then it would be it would be mickey mouse
- 15:39Speaker 4: as the writing. That's what it would be. We would
- 15:42Speaker 4: have a mayor that has big hands exactly.
- 15:47Speaker 3: But if you took off the R or the D,
- 15:50Speaker 3: as Amy suggested, and you just went on the stuff
- 15:54Speaker 3: that was written, come on.
- 15:57Speaker 4: Yeah, well they are and the D we don't have that.
- 16:00Speaker 4: Katina's racist, nonpartisan. Everybody knows. But every yeah, exactly, everybody knows.
- 16:05Speaker 4: So it's it's politics as usual. I'll tell you that
- 16:09Speaker 4: right now. A little less than to Neil's point, but
- 16:13Speaker 4: it's going to be politics as usual.
- 16:15Speaker 2: Okay.
- 16:15Speaker 6: Moving on, SpaceX's Elon Musk is about to go where
- 16:21Speaker 6: no man has gone before. They're doing their initial public
- 16:26Speaker 6: offering and they're going to sell for one hundred and
- 16:29Speaker 6: thirty five bucks a share, which would give it a
- 16:32Speaker 6: valuation of one point seventy seven trillion dollars and make
- 16:35Speaker 6: it the largest ipo ever. Of course, the big winner
- 16:38Speaker 6: would be Elon Musk. He's already the richest man in
- 16:42Speaker 6: the world, and at one hundred and thirty five dollars
- 16:44Speaker 6: a share, the roughly fifty percent stake in SpaceX that
- 16:48Speaker 6: he controls would be worth just over seven hundred and
- 16:51Speaker 6: fifty two billion dollars.
- 16:53Speaker 2: Yeah. What I don't understand is why the company needs money.
- 16:58Speaker 2: They have more money than know what to do with.
- 17:00Speaker 2: And the other question.
- 17:04Speaker 4: Yeah, that's a good point, okay, and they need money
- 17:06Speaker 4: from Mars, all right, I'll buy that. That resonates. And
- 17:08Speaker 4: then the other thing about IPOs. Price of an IPO
- 17:13Speaker 4: is set by the company. It sets its own price,
- 17:18Speaker 4: And this is what happens day one. Either it comes
- 17:21Speaker 4: in at that price, and I'm sure they do this
- 17:23Speaker 4: in consultations with.
- 17:25Speaker 2: The experts who put this together.
- 17:28Speaker 4: But either it comes in below or it comes in above,
- 17:33Speaker 4: and people insiders get it at the takeout price or
- 17:40Speaker 4: a little bit below because they get inside.
- 17:43Speaker 2: But we'll see what happens. Is it going to go
- 17:45Speaker 2: above or below?
- 17:46Speaker 3: You know what, Bill, I just thought of this. People
- 17:48Speaker 3: refer to the Earth as the big blue ball or whatever,
- 17:52Speaker 3: and Mars is red. What if they're going to start
- 17:57Speaker 3: an all republican planet and just leave the Earth to
- 18:06Speaker 3: the blue folks?
- 18:07Speaker 5: What do you think Spencer Pratt's going to lead the way?
- 18:11Speaker 4: Yeah, we're back to Mickey Mouse again. I'm telling you
- 18:13Speaker 4: this whole thing is very strange.
- 18:16Speaker 2: But we'll see.
- 18:17Speaker 4: I'm interested in seeing what the strike price is going
- 18:19Speaker 4: to be, what that price is actually going to go for.
- 18:22Speaker 3: We learned more information about this fellow, you remember the
- 18:26Speaker 3: hostage taker there in Baker's Field we talked about yesterday,
- 18:30Speaker 3: as Bill said, was apparently a sex offender who said
- 18:33Speaker 3: he was framed. Anthony Scott Scott Searless Harris. That's a
- 18:40Speaker 3: long name. Forty one years old, who was unalived and
- 18:45Speaker 3: sent up to the Choir Invisible by the FBI. Authorities
- 18:50Speaker 3: later determined that the explosives that he had were not
- 18:54Speaker 3: real at all. If you remember, he walked into a
- 18:56Speaker 3: Chase Bank building downtown Bakersfield Tuesday afternoon, claiming to have
- 19:01Speaker 3: these explosives attached to his person, tied up hostages on
- 19:07Speaker 3: the second floor, locked himself and everyone else inside. But
- 19:12Speaker 3: he uploaded a video apparently to YouTube in October titled
- 19:16Speaker 3: labeled a Monster and Searless. Harris accused law enforcement of
- 19:22Speaker 3: planting evidence in his case. He also said the media
- 19:25Speaker 3: was complicit in his conviction by publicizing the false allegations
- 19:29Speaker 3: against him.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Kind of Now, this was a movie, if you think
- 19:34Speaker 2: about it.
- 19:35Speaker 4: Here you are with a suspect kidnapping and holding hostage
- 19:40Speaker 4: a bunch of people. You have the hostage negotiators come in,
- 19:44Speaker 4: and the swat team then attacks and kills him.
- 19:47Speaker 2: That's exactly what we see in the movies.
- 19:50Speaker 3: So you think he's got a mental issue or you
- 19:52Speaker 3: think not anymore? No, but do you think he was innocent?
- 19:57Speaker 3: And I don't know, I have no idea. I'm not
- 20:01Speaker 3: aware of what the case was about. My guess is
- 20:04Speaker 3: I probably am not believing him.
- 20:06Speaker 4: If I had to go one way or the other,
- 20:08Speaker 4: I'd probably go in favor of the authorities.
- 20:10Speaker 2: But you know, I don't know. You don't know.
- 20:16Speaker 6: Wealthy in real life or just on paper. You may
- 20:21Speaker 6: earn a good salary which allows you to dine out,
- 20:23Speaker 6: take vacations, but you still might feel deep financial unease.
- 20:28Speaker 6: Millions of Americans with decent paychecks are feeling insecure financially,
- 20:33Speaker 6: according to a newly released report from Gallup and Edward Jones.
- 20:37Speaker 6: It says this paradox divides Americans into three groups, showing
- 20:43Speaker 6: how people different see money differently. There are the financially
- 20:47Speaker 6: fulfilled group that's about sixteen percent of Americans. There's the
- 20:51Speaker 6: financially conflicted group, which makes up the majority of fifty
- 20:54Speaker 6: one percent. And then there's thirty two percent who say
- 20:57Speaker 6: they are financially stressed. They are stuck in a constant
- 21:01Speaker 6: state of anxiety over money.
- 21:04Speaker 4: Well, keep in mind that if their wealth is their
- 21:06Speaker 4: home and the cost of living is so astronomically high, yeah,
- 21:13Speaker 4: you wonder, you know, how am I going to live?
- 21:15Speaker 2: Now?
- 21:16Speaker 4: My definition of rich because some people are rich and
- 21:19Speaker 4: we talked about this before. Rich to me is leaving
- 21:23Speaker 4: your employee, your employment tomorrow afternoon, walking away and maintaining
- 21:28Speaker 4: your lifestyle and maybe thirty thousand dollars a year, maybe
- 21:32Speaker 4: three hundred thousand dollars a year.
- 21:34Speaker 2: Whatever it is, you are rich.
- 21:36Speaker 4: And so we talk about living on Social Security at
- 21:39Speaker 4: eighteen hundred dollars a month, for example, you can't survive
- 21:42Speaker 4: on that unless you move to Mexico and you move
- 21:45Speaker 4: to one of those American colonies where you get a
- 21:48Speaker 4: double wide and you can live on twelve hundred bucks
- 21:51Speaker 4: fifteen hundred bucks a month and you're living super comfortably.
- 21:56Speaker 2: So those people are rich.
- 21:58Speaker 4: And so although you know the cost of living, and
- 22:02Speaker 4: this is the first time this has happened, you know
- 22:04Speaker 4: I can afford to eat, to go out to dinner.
- 22:06Speaker 2: I mean, you know, I make a healthy living. I
- 22:08Speaker 2: am not going out to dinner anymore or very rarely
- 22:13Speaker 2: where I wouldn't even blink. And now I go, you
- 22:17Speaker 2: know what, lindsay, let's not go out to dinner only
- 22:20Speaker 2: because it's so damn expensive.
- 22:22Speaker 3: But she doesn't eat, that's correct, So it's very cheap
- 22:26Speaker 3: for me to She's on the same sesame seed as
- 22:29Speaker 3: she was at the beginning, That is.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Carried well, how about you with Tracy.
- 22:32Speaker 3: She doesn't eat no's, So we don't go out at
- 22:35Speaker 3: dinner unless you know, you know, we go as a
- 22:38Speaker 3: family and it's just for fun. But that's olive Garden,
- 22:42Speaker 3: you know. So it's not like we're breaking de bate.
- 22:45Speaker 6: You're all you can eat to sell it and.
- 22:50Speaker 2: Surgery. Olive Garden is pretty high end as far as
- 22:52Speaker 2: I'm concerned.
- 22:54Speaker 3: I love olive Garden. Stop.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Okay, please, you go to Taco Bell.
- 23:01Speaker 3: Yeah, and I don't give you any grief.
- 23:04Speaker 4: I remember Taco Bell where you could buy ten tacos
- 23:07Speaker 4: for a dollar. I actually remember those days. Of course,
- 23:10Speaker 4: that was back in the forties, maybe even the thirties. Okay,
- 23:14Speaker 4: let's continue on because I want to get to a
- 23:16Speaker 4: lot of stories here.
- 23:17Speaker 3: Okay, so this dealing with more financial stuff. You got
- 23:21Speaker 3: more Californians are filing for bankruptcy. Yet this signal of
- 23:27Speaker 3: bill paying problems looks like middle of the pack when
- 23:31Speaker 3: you kind of put it up against the national scale.
- 23:34Speaker 3: So you've got the states with the biggest jumps in
- 23:37Speaker 3: bankruptcy with North Dakota forty one percent, Alaska, they use
- 23:42Speaker 3: money I thought they paid in Pelts up twenty nine percent,
- 23:47Speaker 3: Florida twenty two percent, Texas up twenty percent, in Oregon
- 23:50Speaker 3: up nineteen percent. Only one state had fewer bankruptcies, Maine
- 23:56Speaker 3: down eight percent.
- 23:58Speaker 2: What is the number one cause bankruptcies in this country?
- 24:02Speaker 3: Medical?
- 24:03Speaker 2: That's right, medical debt.
- 24:04Speaker 4: I can if it turned out if we had a
- 24:06Speaker 4: national if we had a national health system the way
- 24:09Speaker 4: every other industrial country in the world has, the bankruptcy
- 24:13Speaker 4: would be a fraction of what they are.
- 24:17Speaker 3: Yeah, but even even Obamacare was sure, but it just
- 24:23Speaker 3: makes it more affordable, even if even our attempt wasn't
- 24:26Speaker 3: that great.
- 24:27Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 24:27Speaker 4: Now, if you're a dirt poor you're going to get
- 24:29Speaker 4: medical I mean you are now granted, you're going to
- 24:32Speaker 4: get used parts.
- 24:34Speaker 2: For example, if.
- 24:36Speaker 3: I have used parts, sir, you do have used parts,
- 24:39Speaker 3: gently used parts. Lovingly.
- 24:44Speaker 8: Yes, my husband I have really great insurance through his
- 24:48Speaker 8: work through Costcoat.
- 24:49Speaker 7: Great Health Pan. We still play.
- 24:52Speaker 8: We still paid over the course of two years, almost
- 24:56Speaker 8: thirty thousand dollars out of pocket.
- 24:59Speaker 2: Relative to what the actual cost was or the billabowl cost.
- 25:04Speaker 7: When I had one thousand dollars.
- 25:05Speaker 4: Yeah, when I had my open heart surgery and I
- 25:08Speaker 4: had the infection in my valve. I paid, I don't know,
- 25:11Speaker 4: twenty two hundred dollars. But you have to pay at
- 25:13Speaker 4: the time, you pay up front or as they throw
- 25:15Speaker 4: you out. It was I looked at the bill. I
- 25:18Speaker 4: asked them to send me the bill, because they actually
- 25:19Speaker 4: bill each other. They promote they with the DAYA is
- 25:23Speaker 4: they develop a bill for themselves internal It was one
- 25:26Speaker 4: hundred and thirty thousand dollars, and I said twenty and
- 25:29Speaker 4: I spaied and I paid two thousand dollars.
- 25:32Speaker 2: It's it's insanely expensive.
- 25:37Speaker 6: Okay, Well, we had COVID, then we had ebola, then
- 25:40Speaker 6: we had ZEKEA. Well, now we've got a flesh eating screwworm.
- 25:45Speaker 3: Bring it.
- 25:46Speaker 6: It's a parasite. They've kept it out of the US
- 25:48Speaker 6: for decades, but now it has been detected in Texas livestock,
- 25:54Speaker 6: threatening the nation's cattle industry and food supply. Now, the
- 25:58Speaker 6: parasite doesn't apparently pose a food safety threat, but a
- 26:02Speaker 6: wild wider outbreak could cost the livestock industry billions. Unlike
- 26:07Speaker 6: contagious livestock diseases screw worm, screw worm does not spread
- 26:13Speaker 6: directly from animal to animal, the little flesh eating guy. Uh,
- 26:18Speaker 6: this is how they spread. The female lays eggs in
- 26:22Speaker 6: open wounds or body openings, and then the eggs hatch
- 26:26Speaker 6: and the larvae burrows into the living flesh and feeds
- 26:30Speaker 6: on tissue.
- 26:31Speaker 5: M that great, M I know, so gross.
- 26:34Speaker 3: Wait it lays eggs, Amy, I would you put a
- 26:38Speaker 3: camera on it and then talk about it every morning?
- 26:40Speaker 2: Oh?
- 26:40Speaker 3: I could.
- 26:41Speaker 6: It'd be as fun as my Finch fam.
- 26:45Speaker 3: God blessing Grossman Ericsson negligent in boy's death. That we
- 26:51Speaker 3: this story was so horrible, continues to be horrible, and
- 26:56Speaker 3: now one hundred and seventy six million dollars in damage
- 27:01Speaker 3: damages penalized against Grossman. Her husband too. By the way,
- 27:08Speaker 3: so doctor Peter Grossman, Rebecca Grossman's former husband, I guess,
- 27:15Speaker 3: former and founder of the Grossman Burn Foundation. It's his
- 27:20Speaker 3: car and he allowed her to drive it.
- 27:23Speaker 4: Oh yeah, he's liable. That's how he got nailed. By
- 27:25Speaker 4: the way, it was his dad. His dad founded the
- 27:27Speaker 4: Burn Center.
- 27:29Speaker 3: So but here's the deal. Oh, he gets nailed and uh,
- 27:36Speaker 3: she's out with a boyfriend whatever. So she's out.
- 27:40Speaker 2: He owned a car, He owned the car.
- 27:43Speaker 3: No, but that's a double smack to the face, is
- 27:45Speaker 3: what I'm saying.
- 27:46Speaker 2: It's how that works.
- 27:47Speaker 4: Where you own a car, you are liable. For example,
- 27:52Speaker 4: someone gets in any accident you drive, an Amazon truck
- 27:55Speaker 4: hits you, and if the Amazon truck is owned by Amazon,
- 28:00Speaker 4: and of course they're liable, I.
- 28:01Speaker 3: Hope they get dinged. And this goes to both.
- 28:03Speaker 2: They got dinged. This is one hundred and seventy eight million,
- 28:06Speaker 2: I know, but before punitive damages, and that's another hearing.
- 28:11Speaker 3: You think that the judge is going to uphold that number.
- 28:14Speaker 4: No, no, because they don't. And it's basically it doesn't
- 28:17Speaker 4: even matter what number is going to bring it to.
- 28:19Speaker 4: Grossman is going to go bankrupt on this. His assets
- 28:22Speaker 4: are gone and her assets, well, she's in prison for
- 28:25Speaker 4: fifteen years, so she's got nothing.
- 28:27Speaker 6: I have a question for you about this. Yes, so
- 28:30Speaker 6: it's one hundred and seventy six million dollars. Of course,
- 28:32Speaker 6: this family lost their children. It's horrible. Everything about it
- 28:35Speaker 6: is horrible. But there are other cases of people who
- 28:38Speaker 6: get murdered in front of like shot in the head
- 28:41Speaker 6: in front of somebody, and they don't get these kinds
- 28:43Speaker 6: of judgments.
- 28:44Speaker 2: Because they don't go to court.
- 28:46Speaker 4: They don't go for they don't go to civil trial
- 28:48Speaker 4: because there's no money there. No lawyer is going to
- 28:51Speaker 4: take it and get a judgment like this and do
- 28:54Speaker 4: a whole trial and get no money. If there's no
- 28:57Speaker 4: money to be had, you know, no one's going to
- 28:59Speaker 4: buy I guess questions like that all the time. Oh
- 29:02Speaker 4: I got hit, I got assaulted. Well, okay you did
- 29:05Speaker 4: and you were injured. Now you have to go after
- 29:07Speaker 4: someone who did the assault, and they have no money,
- 29:10Speaker 4: and these two both having to have some. Oh yeah, well, grossman,
- 29:14Speaker 4: I'm assuming has good has a pile of money.
- 29:18Speaker 2: I'm assuming that.
- 29:20Speaker 6: So if this happens, how are fans going to buy
- 29:23Speaker 6: their beer? Sofi stadium workers are going to vote starting
- 29:30Speaker 6: today on whether they're going to go on strike. And
- 29:32Speaker 6: the World Cup is next week.
- 29:34Speaker 4: Oh how is that for some leverage?
- 29:38Speaker 5: Yeah unit here or in this case, in this case,
- 29:41Speaker 5: beverage leverage.
- 29:43Speaker 2: That's cute, thank you, very rich, Yeah, thank you.
- 29:46Speaker 6: So they're working without a contract. They're demanding a guarantee
- 29:49Speaker 6: that Ice agents not be president president at the tournament.
- 29:53Speaker 6: They want detailed work hours, they want restricted use of subcontractors,
- 29:58Speaker 6: and they also are asking to prohibit FIFA from using
- 30:02Speaker 6: AI or automation at the arena, so they have job security.
- 30:06Speaker 4: I wonder is there Are they going to allow a
- 30:10Speaker 4: strike which may shut down may shut down the World game,
- 30:16Speaker 4: the Cup.
- 30:16Speaker 2: I don't know. All right, we are done.
- 30:19Speaker 4: Something happened yesterday and that has to do with the
- 30:21Speaker 4: War Powers Resolution.
- 30:23Speaker 2: And the President.
- 30:24Speaker 4: Does it mean anything, well, in actuality practically no, but
- 30:29Speaker 4: it says something about what's going on politically. I'll share
- 30:32Speaker 4: that with you when we come back. KFI AM six
- 30:35Speaker 4: point forty.
