- 0:22along with all her chickens. Hey
- 0:28everybody, good morning from the Chicken Coop. Today,
- 0:31I would like to speak to you about the fact that
- 0:33where you are is not who you are. Isn't
- 0:36that a weird phrase to start off with? Where
- 0:38you are is not who you are. I
- 0:41don't mean your location in the world, you know, and
- 0:43not talking about longitude and latitude. I'm
- 0:46talking about your conditions in which you
- 0:49live. I'm talking about your job,
- 0:51your relationships, your, you know, your external
- 0:56factors outside of yourself that has nothing to do
- 1:00with who you are. And oftentimes, we confuse this
- 1:04and we think, well, this must be who I am. So
- 1:08if I'm having a down time and I'm low on money or I
- 1:13am, you know, in a relationship that sucks and
- 1:18I'm not feeling good about it, or I just can't get
- 1:20that job that I want or I missed the promotion, or my
- 1:24parents are not well and I'm having to take care of
- 1:27them, whatever it might be, our external conditions are
- 1:31not who we are. It's important to remember this
- 1:37because who you are is how you view the entire
- 1:40situation. Who you are is your
- 1:42perspective. Who you are is what you're
- 1:45going to believe about it to transcend whatever's
- 1:49showing up for you. Where you are, it's just a, just
- 1:53a location, just what's happening, just a condition.
- 1:56But it doesn't mean it's who
- 1:57you are. And if you really want to help
- 2:01yourself and you really want to get out of it,
- 2:02you have to pause and ask yourself, you know, do I
- 2:07really believe this is who I am? And
- 2:09sometimes when you do that, it's shocking because you'll
- 2:13find I actually have believed this who I, this
- 2:16is who I was. And because you've believed it's
- 2:18who you were, you haven't taken any of the right
- 2:22action, as we could say. You've
- 2:25just taken the strategy of beating yourself up and
- 2:29shaming yourself, which never works because you
- 2:32can't shame yourself into greatness. I
- 2:34mean, I really want you guys to hear me. You
- 2:36cannot shame yourself into greatness. It
- 2:39doesn't work. It doesn't lift you up. It's
- 2:41not an energy that pulls you in the right direction.
- 2:45And attempting to do it only
- 2:48causes more and more and more headaches for you
- 2:51along the line because you become more and more
- 2:53diminished and more and more problems happen. So
- 2:56where this is so tricky and where this is something
- 2:59that you have to work on consistently is understanding
- 3:02that the location, the conditions are not the who.
- 3:08Who you are is that person
- 3:10who's curious, who's willing to go out there and do
- 3:15the work, who's committed to the fact that they are
- 3:18going to stay upbeat no matter what's going on. And
- 3:21that is the essence of being a enlightened person
- 3:28when happiness is more important than anything. The
- 3:33Dalai Lama says the purpose of life is to be happy.
- 3:37And it's not to go get
- 3:39happiness from somewhere else. It's
- 3:40to be happy, to resonate happy from yourself, to
- 3:44just make the decision that I'm going to be happy no
- 3:47matter what. No matter what is going on,
- 3:49I'm going to be happy. Because
- 3:51as we all know, as you get older, we all recognize
- 3:54that things happen, things show up out of nowhere.
- 3:58One day your dryer works, the
- 4:00next day it doesn't. One day you're driving to work
- 4:03and you're in your car and everything's fine and the
- 4:05next day you go and someone plows into you in
- 4:07the back end. There are lots of random things
- 4:10that happen out there in the world. And
- 4:14there's a question as to whether or not they're all
- 4:16so random. We often have to explore those
- 4:18things and what our participation was in them.
- 4:22But this is about how you show
- 4:25up when they happen and how you see it is because
- 4:29of who you are, not where you are. So
- 4:33you have to take inventory, if you will, about what's
- 4:38my perspective of things? Do
- 4:39I really see them through the eyes of who I truly
- 4:43am or am I just seeing them through these
- 4:44conditions that I'm presented with? And
- 4:47the conditions are just fleeting. They're
- 4:51going to come and go. One thing, one day it's
- 4:54terrible, the next day it's great. One
- 4:56day you lost a client, the next day you have a new
- 4:58one. And realizing that maybe, just
- 5:03maybe, the energy that you're in dictates the
- 5:07outcome. And if you focus on the fact
- 5:09that you're more inclined to deal with your who than
- 5:13your what the conditions externally are, they turn
- 5:17around pretty quickly. And that's been my observation
- 5:21throughout my life is when I am doing a better job
- 5:24focusing on my conditions and making sure they are
- 5:27on point in my mind. In other words, I'm focusing
- 5:31on my who, who do I want to be right now? All
- 5:35of a sudden on those external conditions change
- 5:37because I don't allow them to come in and take over
- 5:40anymore. I don't allow those other
- 5:42feelings to be recreated and recreated over and over
- 5:45again. And before you know it, boom,
- 5:47we're in a good place. So today really, really work
- 5:52on making sure you are focused on your who's and
- 5:56not the where's. The who you are is so
- 5:59important to your overall growth, happiness, well
- 6:02-being as opposed to where you are and make that
- 6:06distinction. And then you can start to make
- 6:08the shifts. Have a blessed day, my friends,
- 6:10and I will see you tomorrow.
