Transcript
- 0:01A lot of us have things in our home that we take for granted.
- 0:06I talk about this all the time here on the Checker Pro Radio show.
- 0:09It could be our garage door,
- 0:11um,
- 0:11our refrigerator,
- 0:13our dishwasher,
- 0:14our water heaters,
- 0:15but also our heating and air conditioning systems.
- 0:20We don't really think a whole lot about them.
- 0:23We just want them to work.
- 0:24So when it's cold,
- 0:25we call for the heat to come on and we expect it to go and start burning and bringing the heat up and in the summer time,
- 0:34same thing with the air conditioning system,
- 0:36but a lot of us don't want to do the maintenance because we don't think about it.
- 0:41So I brought an expert here onto the program.
- 0:44His name is Nathan Shafer from Shafer heating and cooling.
- 0:49Nathan.
- 0:49How are you?
- 0:50Phenomenal,
- 0:51Jim.
- 0:51How are you?
- 0:52I am phenomenal as well.
- 0:54Thanks for asking.
- 0:55And it's,
- 0:56it's true of almost anything we've talked about this before,
- 1:00whether it's the car or the lawnmower or ourselves,
- 1:05maintenance comes secondary.
- 1:07We put the gas in the vehicle,
- 1:09we put the food in the mouth,
- 1:11we turn the electricity on and hit the thermostat and we just expect it all to work.
- 1:16But we don't think about the maintenance required.
- 1:19Would you agree with me?
- 1:20That's one of the biggest things people overlook in general is maintenance on their heating and air conditioning system.
- 1:28Oh,
- 1:28yeah,
- 1:29100% you know,
- 1:30for us,
- 1:31you know,
- 1:31being in the industry,
- 1:33it's exciting.
- 1:34We enjoy it.
- 1:35We do it,
- 1:35we see it every day but for the average person and for most people,
- 1:38I should say it's not exciting.
- 1:39It's a boring topic.
- 1:40It's out of sight.
- 1:41It's out of mind.
- 1:42Right.
- 1:42It's,
- 1:42it's outside behind the house or in the basement of the attic or wherever it's at.
- 1:46It's just not one of those things you think about,
- 1:48uh,
- 1:48on a regular basis until something happens,
- 1:51something breaks.
- 1:51It's that hottest day or coldest day of the year and then all of a sudden by gosh,
- 1:56it's,
- 1:56it's top of mind.
- 1:57And so it's definitely something that's very commonly,
- 2:00uh,
- 2:00and easily forgotten about.
- 2:03And it's really,
- 2:04yeah.
- 2:05And,
- 2:05and,
- 2:05you know,
- 2:06it's really simple.
- 2:07Um,
- 2:07some of the things it can be,
- 2:10you know,
- 2:11done by the homeowner as something as simple as changing out filters.
- 2:14But once again,
- 2:15you,
- 2:16as the homeowner need to have that schedule,
- 2:19um,
- 2:19you can either write it down.
- 2:21There's apps for that.
- 2:22Of course,
- 2:23the,
- 2:23um,
- 2:23on your thermostat often.
- 2:25Now it'll tell you if you program it properly.
- 2:29But chances are,
- 2:30you're not going to do it.
- 2:32But I recommend having Nathan and his team come out and I'll tell you why.
- 2:38Yes,
- 2:38you can change your own filters.
- 2:40They're gonna do a lot more than that.
- 2:42And it's like going to the doctor.
- 2:44So I go to the dentist twice a year.
- 2:46It's a six month program.
- 2:48You should do the same thing with your air conditioning and heating units.
- 2:52What that means is have a professional,
- 2:54take a look at everything.
- 2:56So,
- 2:57you know,
- 2:57don't even worry about your own filters just because it doesn't cost,
- 3:01it doesn't cost you that much more to have.
- 3:03Um,
- 3:04the team of Shafer come out to do it.
- 3:05They're gonna be out there anyway to make sure everything is clean.
- 3:08They're going to hook up the equipment to make sure your equipment is running optimally.
- 3:15And it's important also safety,
- 3:17especially with a furnace with a heating unit that's critical because of carbon monoxide.
- 3:24So I,
- 3:24I just tell you get it maintained so you can save money,
- 3:29you'll save time and there's a huge safety feature as well or aspect to it.
- 3:35Agreed.
- 3:37100%.
- 3:37Yeah,
- 3:38I mean,
- 3:38you,
- 3:38you're spot on,
- 3:39there's like you mentioned,
- 3:40there's all kinds of ways.
- 3:41Now today we live in a busy,
- 3:43busy world.
- 3:44Right.
- 3:44We have so many other things to remember and there's all kinds of ways to make it simple.
- 3:50And we here at shafer heating and cooling are always looking for those ways we're innovative,
- 3:53we're adapting to the changes.
- 3:55So,
- 3:55like you said,
- 3:55whether it be on the thermostat,
- 3:56whether it be using our online store and have your filters auto shipped to you on a monthly,
- 4:01bi monthly,
- 4:02three months,
- 4:03six months,
- 4:03whatever your rotation is,
- 4:04the type of filter that you have,
- 4:06they just automatically show up at your door and there's your reminder to getting on our club membership plan where we just automatically come out twice a year and we work with your schedule,
- 4:14but we take care of all the scheduling and we call you,
- 4:17hey,
- 4:17it's time for that check up,
- 4:18you know,
- 4:19that full system rejuvenation.
- 4:20Let's get in there and get this taken care of to the list goes on and on of,
- 4:24of,
- 4:24hey,
- 4:24take that,
- 4:25take that,
- 4:26uh,
- 4:26that,
- 4:27that trying to remember,
- 4:29uh,
- 4:29that responsibility if you will take it off of you and let us take care of that for you.
- 4:33And there's so many different ways we can do that,
- 4:35uh,
- 4:35depending on what your wants and needs are.
- 4:37So,
- 4:37the main thing is though,
- 4:38is having some sort of system in place.
- 4:40So that,
- 4:40that maintenance,
- 4:41uh,
- 4:41what seems like a very simple thing,
- 4:44but so important to the life of that system and the efficiency of that system and your monthly utility bills and the,
- 4:50the life expectancy of this system and so on and so forth.
- 4:53That's that small,
- 4:54simple thing and really make sure that there's a system in place to take care of that for you.
- 4:58So it doesn't get forgotten because otherwise it's easy time flies by,
- 5:02you know,
- 5:02next thing,
- 5:03you know,
- 5:03it's been six months,
- 5:04a year,
- 5:04two years,
- 5:05five years and it's,
- 5:06oh,
- 5:06my goodness.
- 5:07Where did the time go?
- 5:08You know?
- 5:08So,
- 5:09definitely extremely,
- 5:10extremely important.
- 5:11Get on that regular maintenance program with shafer heating and cooling.
- 5:18All of Nathan's information is located in the description of this podcast.
- 5:22There's no excuse not to be able to reach out and if you just have a question,
- 5:26they're always willing to help you out over the phone.
- 5:30Nathan,
- 5:30as always,
- 5:30thank you so much for joining me today on the program.
- 5:33Hey,
- 5:33thank you,
- 5:33Jim.
- 5:33It's good seeing you.
