- 0:00SPEAKER_02: Welcome back to Keeping It Relevant.
- 0:03SPEAKER_02: It's Alex.
- 0:04SPEAKER_02: It's John.
- 0:05SPEAKER_02: And Cody.
- 0:07SPEAKER_02: So Cody, I know before we started, you said you had some things you wanted to talk that were in relevant news.
- 0:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah, first one that we'll do for this episode is uh if anybody's familiar with the iconic, I believe, 80s, maybe 90s group Aqua, most famous for putting out Barbie Girl.
- 0:25SPEAKER_03: Let's go Barbie.
- 0:26SPEAKER_03: Let's go.
- 0:27SPEAKER_01: Didn't they also do uh around the world?
- 0:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they did remember.
- 0:34SPEAKER_03: They could.
- 0:34SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 0:34SPEAKER_03: I know the one song.
- 0:36SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 0:37SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 0:37SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah, they did.
- 0:38SPEAKER_03: Come on, Barbie.
- 0:39SPEAKER_03: Let's go Barbie.
- 0:40SPEAKER_03: Anyways.
- 0:41SPEAKER_01: Have you listened to those lyrics?
- 0:42SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 0:43SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh.
- 0:45SPEAKER_03: They have officially broken up.
- 0:47SPEAKER_03: Aqua is no more.
- 0:49SPEAKER_02: Where am I gonna get my Barbie fixed?
- 0:51SPEAKER_02: Also, why didn't they put that in the movie at all?
- 0:54SPEAKER_01: It's like a little uh they did the Ava Max remix of I'm a uh Bobby Girl Living in My Own World.
- 1:02SPEAKER_03: Oh, okay.
- 1:03SPEAKER_03: I assume there was probably legal stuff there for that one.
- 1:08SPEAKER_03: That's fair.
- 1:10SPEAKER_02: That stinks, but to be fair, they only had like two songs.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: They had a few.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: I can't tell you the names of them, but I I listened to them.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: I listened to them.
- 1:22SPEAKER_01: I had no idea they were still together.
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:25SPEAKER_01: I thought they broke up in the 90s.
- 1:27SPEAKER_03: No, they're still doing stuff.
- 1:28SPEAKER_03: I assume.
- 1:30SPEAKER_03: Because I know that's not an American band, so I assume they were probably more popular in their home country than they were here.
- 1:36SPEAKER_03: And we just didn't get as much of their stuff.
- 1:39SPEAKER_03: Are they Swedish?
- 1:40SPEAKER_03: I'd have to double check on that one.
- 1:42SPEAKER_03: But that sounds right.
- 1:44SPEAKER_03: It feels like they're Swedish.
- 1:51SPEAKER_01: Aqua.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: Oh, Danish.
- 2:01SPEAKER_02: Danish.
- 2:02SPEAKER_01: Danish Norwegian.
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: Bubblegum pop.
- 2:07SPEAKER_01: They were probably the last bubblegum pop band like left.
- 2:10SPEAKER_02: I've never heard of that type of.
- 2:13SPEAKER_01: What?
- 2:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 2:13SPEAKER_01: Like Britney Spears in the 2000s was bubblegum pop.
- 2:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 2:17SPEAKER_02: I didn't know that.
- 2:18SPEAKER_02: I just considered that pop.
- 2:19SPEAKER_01: Oh.
- 2:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah, think of think of that and Britney Spears' first two albums.
- 2:24SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: That's what that is.
- 2:25SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 2:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's that's what I got for this one.
- 2:29SPEAKER_03: I don't know if you've got any movie news for us, John.
- 2:32SPEAKER_01: Um, I can stick on music news if you want.
- 2:35SPEAKER_01: Okay, go for it.
- 2:36SPEAKER_01: Um The only thing people are talking about in the music industry right now.
- 2:42SPEAKER_03: Oh no, there's two things people are talking about.
- 2:45SPEAKER_03: Actually.
- 2:45SPEAKER_03: I think one of them I'm thinking of that I was gonna say for a different episode.
- 2:49SPEAKER_01: Um I'm talking about Joseph.
- 2:54SPEAKER_03: That's not the first one, but that one, yeah.
- 2:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, okay.
- 2:57SPEAKER_01: So, okay, well I'll bring that up.
- 2:58SPEAKER_01: So, Joseph, um, uh falling in reverse.
- 3:03SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 3:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 3:04SPEAKER_01: Featuring Corey Taylor, and I can never pronounce a dude's name from System of a Down.
- 3:09SPEAKER_01: And Serge.
- 3:10SPEAKER_03: I heard the last name is Tarkin, but most people just say Serge.
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: I don't know why.
- 3:15SPEAKER_01: Well, I do know why.
- 3:16SPEAKER_01: When I was a kid, someone was like, Yeah, it's Siri or Sergy.
- 3:21SPEAKER_01: Uh and I was like, that's a weird name.
- 3:24SPEAKER_01: And they're like, well, this is the band he's in, and I was like, I guess that would fit a band like this.
- 3:29SPEAKER_01: So ever since I was a kid, I'm like, it's Sergy.
- 3:33SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
- 3:34SPEAKER_01: Not Serge.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: So I get it.
- 3:37SPEAKER_01: Which um I finally listened to that song last week?
- 3:42SPEAKER_01: Was that when we were talking about that?
- 3:44SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 3:46SPEAKER_01: I couldn't even tell you when the song came out.
- 3:48SPEAKER_03: It was I think it was I think you listened to it just a couple days after it released.
- 3:53SPEAKER_01: Oh, okay.
- 3:54SPEAKER_01: I liked it.
- 3:55SPEAKER_01: I thought it was a good song.
- 3:56SPEAKER_01: The lyrics, because Cody sent me the lyrics, and he was like, give me your opinion on these lyrics.
- 4:01SPEAKER_01: I think the lyrics are elementary and amateur, and have zero flow to them.
- 4:08SPEAKER_01: And I'm not gonna lie, I and I'm not trying to trash or diss or yuck anyone's yum, I promise.
- 4:15SPEAKER_01: This this was me trying to guess what band you sent me the lyrics, and you were like, what before I tell you what band it is.
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: So I'm like reading these trying to figure out what band it is, and I was like, was this an unreleased Black Veil Bride song from like 2012?
- 4:33SPEAKER_03: That's and I guess I can kind of see it.
- 4:38SPEAKER_01: Well, that's why I said 2012, because like that was the subject matter they were always talking about.
- 4:43SPEAKER_01: And so I was like, I was I'm like really trying hard to figure out what I was like, okay, this is obviously some like stupid either emo or edgy band.
- 4:55SPEAKER_01: This is clearly someone that thinks they know what they're talking about about but can't.
- 5:00SPEAKER_01: And I was like, what freaking band are we uh but I was like, but because of the lyrics, I was like, this can't be a recent song, it has to be something from like the earl, like the early 2010s.
- 5:13SPEAKER_01: Maybe it was like we've never released it before type of song.
- 5:16SPEAKER_01: That's why I was like, this has to be Blackvell Brides.
- 5:19SPEAKER_01: Nope, it came out that week.
- 5:22SPEAKER_03: I'm pretty sure I sent it to you the day it came out.
- 5:25SPEAKER_01: Oh shoot.
- 5:26SPEAKER_01: Did you that's how out of focus I was.
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: I knew I knew it was coming out.
- 5:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 5:31SPEAKER_01: I was I'm focused on a bunch of other stuff.
- 5:32SPEAKER_03: I didn't know that that's yeah, okay.
- 5:34SPEAKER_03: I mean, the other issue with again, I had you read on because I mostly wanted to get your thought, obviously, before I told you who it was, because it's like there was zero flow to those lyrics.
- 5:45SPEAKER_03: Like going from one line to the next is so hard of a read.
- 5:50SPEAKER_01: I think reading it it is.
- 5:52SPEAKER_01: I listened to that song again yesterday, because I was like, I was like, it it didn't sound like it was a hard flow to sing.
- 6:00SPEAKER_01: So I was like, let me listen to the song again, but let me listen to it like uh like just the flow of the lyrics.
- 6:08SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
- 6:08SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 6:09SPEAKER_01: And if they it flowed good with them singing it, I think that's one of those things where it's like when you separate the craft from the ingredients, you're like, how is this gonna sound good in a song?
- 6:23SPEAKER_01: Like you but it's like, well, no, you just have one of the ingredients here, like you gotta you gotta bake the cake.
- 6:28SPEAKER_01: And and after the cake is baked, I was like, okay, this makes more sense.
- 6:34SPEAKER_01: Like, uh that was that was what I got from it.
- 6:37SPEAKER_01: Um I didn't see the music video yet.
- 6:39SPEAKER_01: People seem to love to trash it.
- 6:43SPEAKER_03: Because it's another over the top, overly produced music video that makes absolutely no sense.
- 6:50SPEAKER_01: I love those music videos.
- 6:52SPEAKER_01: Ever since ever since I saw the music video of Land of Confusion from Genesis, I was like, I need more of these music videos where you're just like, you know there's a message there somewhere, but it is so over the top and so overproduced, you're just like having fun.
- 7:11SPEAKER_02: No, it had one thing in common with all the other ones, too.
- 7:14SPEAKER_02: Well, with the No, Ronnie had laser eyes.
- 7:19SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah.
- 7:20SPEAKER_03: The whole thing just feels like it's a power trip for Ronnie.
- 7:24SPEAKER_01: I love Ronnie's laser eyes.
- 7:27SPEAKER_01: I'm like, why?
- 7:28SPEAKER_03: Because it's a power trip for him.
- 7:30SPEAKER_03: It's f I'm having fun with these with these things.
- 7:34SPEAKER_03: If it wasn't Ronnie, I'd probably find it more fun, but it's Ronnie.
- 7:38SPEAKER_01: That sounds uh judgmental of you.
- 7:41SPEAKER_03: Only he's a giant douchebag, so.
- 7:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah, Ronnie, fight me.
- 7:47SPEAKER_01: So I'll I will I will endorse that fight.
- 7:53SPEAKER_01: I would love to I don't know, no, here's the thing.
- 7:58SPEAKER_01: I would not love to see my friend get beat up.
- 8:01SPEAKER_01: Cody, I care about you.
- 8:02SPEAKER_01: I'd never want to see you get beat up either.
- 8:04SPEAKER_01: Unless it's me beating you up.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 8:07SPEAKER_00: That being said, I would love to see that fight.
- 8:15SPEAKER_00: Alex's face right now.
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: Just thinking about being like, fight me, bro.
- 8:21SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 8:22SPEAKER_01: Oh, oh 911 with your emergency.
- 8:26SPEAKER_01: My friend's about to get the crappy out of me.
- 8:30SPEAKER_02: No, umly because like I know what Cody looks like, and I know what Ronnie looks like.
- 8:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's exactly what's going on.
- 8:37SPEAKER_02: There's definitely one-sidedness in here.
- 8:39SPEAKER_01: I know, I know Cody could go to town on a punching bag.
- 8:42SPEAKER_01: Like, I know that.
- 8:44SPEAKER_01: I know what you're capable of.
- 8:45SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
- 8:46SPEAKER_01: But if I don't I don't know Ronnie.
- 8:50SPEAKER_01: I never met the guy.
- 8:51SPEAKER_01: I've seen him perform twice.
- 8:53SPEAKER_01: Uh um, you know, he looks muscular.
- 8:57SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah.
- 8:58SPEAKER_01: Maybe that's not everything.
- 8:59SPEAKER_01: Maybe Cody does come on top of that.
- 9:01SPEAKER_03: The question is, is it usable muscle or is it fake muscle?
- 9:04SPEAKER_03: I don't I don't know.
- 9:06SPEAKER_02: Well, you gotta remember, he's got he's got that prison time to help back his fighting skills.
- 9:12SPEAKER_01: And he has laser eyes.
- 9:13SPEAKER_02: Uh-huh.
- 9:14SPEAKER_01: So, like, we need to set in that real quick.
- 9:19SPEAKER_01: Hey, bro, no laser eyes.
- 9:22SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 9:22SPEAKER_01: So, unless do you have laser eyes that we don't know about?
- 9:25SPEAKER_01: I wish.
- 9:26SPEAKER_01: Okay, well.
- 9:28SPEAKER_01: How did he get them in the videos?
- 9:30SPEAKER_03: It never explains anything.
- 9:32SPEAKER_03: He just has it.
- 9:33SPEAKER_03: He just has it.
- 9:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah, like you can't teach it, it's just something you're born with.
- 9:37SPEAKER_02: Well, it's it started in uh what was the uh Watch the World Burn?
- 9:42SPEAKER_02: Yes, I think that's when it started.
- 9:44SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that was the first one to put the laser eyes in the street.
- 9:46SPEAKER_01: I thought it was I thought it was demons, you know, these demons in my head came on and then popular monster?
- 9:52SPEAKER_01: No, that's not popular monster.
- 9:54SPEAKER_02: Voices in my head.
- 9:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I thought it started with that one when he turns to a werewolf.
- 9:58SPEAKER_02: Why would he have laser eyes if he's a werewolf?
- 10:01SPEAKER_03: That's when he was doing a lot of the like overproduced stuff, but I think the laser eyes specifically started with Watch the World Burn.
- 10:08SPEAKER_01: That's the one with Tech Nine, right?
- 10:09SPEAKER_02: No.
- 10:10SPEAKER_03: Oh, shoot.
- 10:11SPEAKER_02: That Tech 9 one was after that.
- 10:13SPEAKER_03: Oh, shoot.
- 10:14SPEAKER_03: I don't know if Watch the World Burn had any features.
- 10:17SPEAKER_02: I don't think it did on special people in it.
- 10:20SPEAKER_04: Huh.
- 10:21SPEAKER_02: But the one after the one you're thinking of has Tech 9 and uh some death metal guy in it.
- 10:29SPEAKER_02: I cannot think of his name.
- 10:31SPEAKER_01: From uh Slaughter to Prevail.
- 10:33SPEAKER_01: Oh, Alex.
- 10:34SPEAKER_02: No.
- 10:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Alex Terrible.
- 10:36SPEAKER_01: I don't know his name, to be honest.
- 10:38SPEAKER_01: I don't really listen to Slaughter to Prevail.
- 10:40SPEAKER_02: I'm pretty either way, Tech Nine's in that one with that guy.
- 10:44SPEAKER_02: Because that guy does the voice of the devil singing.
- 10:48SPEAKER_01: I'll tell you, I'll tell you what though.
- 10:49SPEAKER_01: I like like I um I am loving just having so much fun with all of his music videos lately.
- 10:58SPEAKER_01: And I I do like his music.
- 11:02SPEAKER_01: Um, but I will say if if you were to be like, hey, are you a are you a um it's not Fit for Rivals, what band is it again?
- 11:09SPEAKER_01: Falling in Fall in Reverse.
- 11:11SPEAKER_01: I don't know why I get that Fit for Rivals confused.
- 11:13SPEAKER_01: Um, are you a Falling Reverse fan?
- 11:17SPEAKER_01: Like I I want to call myself a fan, but I'm not against them.
- 11:22SPEAKER_01: Like, I'll listen to them.
- 11:23SPEAKER_01: I'm a fan of his drummer, though, Luke Combs.
- 11:27SPEAKER_01: That dude, you guys need to look up Luke Combs and just see what he just does, just him.
- 11:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, real, real cool country singer.
- 11:37SPEAKER_03: You're thinking of a different country.
- 11:38SPEAKER_01: Nope.
- 11:39SPEAKER_01: I'm pretty sure his name's Luke Combs, too.
- 11:41SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 11:42SPEAKER_01: Nope, Luke Holland.
- 11:43SPEAKER_01: Sorry, Luke Holland.
- 11:45SPEAKER_01: Alright.
- 11:45SPEAKER_01: Luke Combs is also awesome.
- 11:47SPEAKER_01: Love that guy.
- 11:49SPEAKER_01: So and then and then you told me about that Jelly Roll song Ronnie did with him too.
- 11:55SPEAKER_03: That was Justin that told you about this.
- 11:57SPEAKER_01: Either way, dude, I love that song.
- 11:58SPEAKER_01: I was like, he did a song with Jelly Roll, that dude's my guy, dude.
- 12:01SPEAKER_01: I love that song.
- 12:03SPEAKER_01: I I freaking I don't know why people are dissing.
- 12:05SPEAKER_01: I know why people are dissing.
- 12:08SPEAKER_01: I'm just having fun.
- 12:10SPEAKER_03: I think that's kind of the I think that's where Alex and I are, and Justin as well, obviously he's not on the pod, though, is where we're at.
- 12:16SPEAKER_03: So Justin.
- 12:17SPEAKER_03: We're all three in agreement that it we don't think it's a good song, but every single person I've seen on the internet is like, oh my god, this is genius.
- 12:26SPEAKER_01: No, it's not genius.
- 12:28SPEAKER_03: No.
- 12:29SPEAKER_03: So many people are praising this song for being like just absolute musical genius, and I'm like, there's no flow to the song.
- 12:36SPEAKER_03: It jumps from one sound to another so abruptly, like, to my ears, it is not a pleasing listen.
- 12:44SPEAKER_01: But that's music these days.
- 12:45SPEAKER_01: Have you listened to Olivia Rodrigo's two hits?
- 12:48SPEAKER_01: No, because I don't like her music.
- 12:50SPEAKER_01: They do the same thing.
- 12:51SPEAKER_01: They go, they change up tones.
- 12:52SPEAKER_02: My thing about it is music these days.
- 12:54SPEAKER_01: I think that's just the j the jam these days for music.
- 12:57SPEAKER_02: I think my issue with the song is that at the very at the beginning, at the beginning and middle, it's a lot of and the only way I can describe it is noise.
- 13:06SPEAKER_02: Like it's just noise.
- 13:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 13:08SPEAKER_02: And then you randomly throw in Surge doing that Surge things.
- 13:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 13:15SPEAKER_02: And it's like what?
- 13:17SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 13:18SPEAKER_03: Like again, it's just if this is where we're going with music, I I don't want any part of it.
- 13:24SPEAKER_03: Like, there's no need to jump from one sound to another that abruptly.
- 13:30SPEAKER_02: Now, I'd give it this.
- 13:31SPEAKER_02: Say if you started the song with Surge and that melancholy like tone and voice, and then mix in Ronnie and Corey Taylor doing a screaming lyric, like a screaming.
- 13:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah, there's ways it could have worked.
- 13:47SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 13:47SPEAKER_03: It just felt like three of them should have worked, and I just think the execution was terrible.
- 13:56SPEAKER_03: But apparently we're in the minority because most people think it's absolute genius, like they do everything he does.
- 14:02SPEAKER_01: I don't think it's absolute genius.
- 14:04SPEAKER_01: I think Ronnie is is what he is, a musician.
- 14:08SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
- 14:09SPEAKER_01: You know, he's got he's he's a creative guy.
- 14:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 14:13SPEAKER_01: Music videos show that he's a creative guy.
- 14:17SPEAKER_02: Or he knows how to work AI.
- 14:19SPEAKER_01: Or he knows, hey, they're pretty creative.
- 14:22SPEAKER_01: So I tried to work with AI the other day and it was not doing what I wanted it to, and I got mad at it and I turned it off.
- 14:28SPEAKER_01: Anyways, don't know what that had to do with anything.
- 14:31SPEAKER_01: But um, no, I wouldn't say it's musical.
- 14:33SPEAKER_01: I don't want to say that song specifically is musical genius.
- 14:36SPEAKER_01: He's definitely made breakthroughs, but I think the way music is today is that people are trying to um do what a lot of bands in the 2000s did, which I think they're just ahead of their time, which was like, let's have this niche of a sound, but then change it and go for something different just to keep the audience and the listeners on the edge.
- 15:01SPEAKER_02: But it's hard to do so.
- 15:02SPEAKER_02: My argument against that is back in the 2000s, and I'll use this as a prime example, uh, My Chemical Roman's Black Parade, it started soft and built to that.
- 15:14SPEAKER_01: Well, see, and that's progressive.
- 15:16SPEAKER_01: Progressive, yeah, yeah, I could see that being the same.
- 15:18SPEAKER_02: That's what I think the biggest issue is on this song, is that it starts at a 11, and then we cut it back to a six.
- 15:27SPEAKER_01: Well, then the the what's that song that Olivia Rodrigo sings now?
- 15:32SPEAKER_01: Uh, the big one.
- 15:34SPEAKER_01: Um Everdave Magos Wars.
- 15:37SPEAKER_01: Everdave.
- 15:38SPEAKER_03: You're looking at me like I know any of the things.
- 15:40SPEAKER_03: You guys don't listen to Olivia Rodrigo.
- 15:43SPEAKER_01: That's wild.
- 15:43SPEAKER_01: She is awesome.
- 15:45SPEAKER_01: Okay, even the song Driver's License, like it's like it's like up and up, and then the chorus hits, and then it's just down, and then it's up, and it's down.
- 15:53SPEAKER_02: I I just I just think that's what that's that's what the sleep token does it almost better than anybody else right now.
- 15:59SPEAKER_01: I yeah.
- 16:00SPEAKER_01: I've never listened to them.
- 16:01SPEAKER_02: Sleep token will start uh the mixing those tones.
- 16:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and they mix them way better, and it flows way easier.
- 16:09SPEAKER_01: I just think that's the evolution of music.
- 16:11SPEAKER_01: Now, if Ronnie's executing it correctly or not, that's a whole different thing.
- 16:15SPEAKER_01: But I think sure, someone like Sleep Token, they seem like to be executing it correctly.
- 16:19SPEAKER_03: I don't have a problem if there's a change in it.
- 16:21SPEAKER_03: I think the problem is it's just so abrupt.
- 16:24SPEAKER_03: Like it's just one moment Ronnie's singing operatic stuff, and then just out of nowhere, it jumps into super heavy, and then it goes to like an old throwback song, and then all of a sudden Corey's screaming to softer stuff with Surge, and it's just like it's so back and forth all over the place, yeah, that like it just makes no sense.
- 16:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I agree with you.
- 16:50SPEAKER_01: I I think I think to us it doesn't make sense.
- 16:53SPEAKER_01: I think to the to the pop culture consumer today, it's like this is music.
- 17:03SPEAKER_01: You know, like this this is their emo niche.
- 17:08SPEAKER_02: It almost is like it's executed chaos.
- 17:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I like that.
- 17:15SPEAKER_02: And I don't like me personally, I don't like that.
- 17:18SPEAKER_02: Like, even the one before Joseph with the Tech Nine, I cannot think of the name of that song.
- 17:23SPEAKER_02: And Alex the Terrible from Slaughter Slaughter to Prevail.
- 17:29SPEAKER_02: Like the whole song, it's a rock song with some of his rap in it, uh Ronnie's rap, and then it shows him going down a little bit, and then it jumps into the Slaughter Prevail like echoes and like almost dwarven uh metal, and then it kind of pauses, and the melanie sets up, and then you bring in Tech Nine to do his anger gangster app.
- 17:53SPEAKER_02: That one flows good, in my opinion.
- 17:56SPEAKER_01: That's a song, stupid song.
- 17:58SPEAKER_01: Listen to Stupid Song by Olivia Rodrigo, and it's like it's like okay, okay, and then I don't know, or at the it's just like boom, and I'm like, I I remember listening to it being like, What?
- 18:08SPEAKER_01: I thought it was a different song.
- 18:10SPEAKER_01: I was like, whoa, okay, I guess I guess the radio just changed songs, but uh I don't know.
- 18:17SPEAKER_01: I just think that's just where it is these days, you know?
- 18:20SPEAKER_01: The 80s had their niche with hair metal, the 2000s had pop punk, or no, the 90s had pop punk.
- 18:26SPEAKER_01: Uh we had new metal and emo, and now it's like what you say, controlled chaos, is what you said.
- 18:32SPEAKER_02: Executed executed chaos.
- 18:34SPEAKER_01: I think that's just what it is now.
- 18:36SPEAKER_01: Sounds fair.
- 18:37SPEAKER_01: And now, and now we're the old people going, this isn't music, this is just sound.
- 18:41SPEAKER_01: How our parents said that when we would listen to Avenge, they would fold.
- 18:45SPEAKER_01: So literally, like we're in full circle right now is what it is.
- 18:51SPEAKER_02: Well, uh everyone in the comments, let us know what you think.
- 18:54SPEAKER_02: Uh that's just Justin.
- 18:56SPEAKER_01: Justin's the only one in the comments.
- 18:57SPEAKER_01: That's fair.
- 18:58SPEAKER_00: Justin, comment and let us know.
- 19:03SPEAKER_02: Uh well, do you have anything else for your relevant news?
- 19:07SPEAKER_01: Um, I did, but it is it it is relevant, but unfortunately, the artist I was gonna talk about, uh, they've switched to something different within like three days that everyone's talking about that.
- 19:18SPEAKER_01: I just don't even want to bring them up right now.
- 19:20SPEAKER_01: So Okay.
- 19:21SPEAKER_02: Well fair.
- 19:22SPEAKER_02: It's all good.
- 19:23SPEAKER_02: Whatever.
- 19:23SPEAKER_02: Well, let's move on to the meat and potatoes of this episode.
- 19:26SPEAKER_02: Love meat and potatoes.
- 19:28SPEAKER_04: Potatoes.
- 19:30SPEAKER_02: But uh, if you have been with us.
- 19:34SPEAKER_02: If you've been back with us with JC Radio, you know we like to do one thing around this time of year, and we used to call it October Talk.
- 19:41SPEAKER_02: Well, I think this episode, we're not gonna call it that, but we're gonna gear it more towards a uh Halloween themed.
- 19:48SPEAKER_02: Can I should I call the episode October Talk?
- 19:51SPEAKER_02: You should call it October Talk, Rita.
- 19:54SPEAKER_01: Read, re- re-release.
- 19:56SPEAKER_02: Or re- R-E-D-U-X or whatever.
- 19:59SPEAKER_02: You know, back when VH1 used to do I love the 90s read uh.
- 20:03SPEAKER_01: Rita.
- 20:03SPEAKER_01: I like that.
- 20:04SPEAKER_02: But uh I we thought about this topic and it's more or less like our favorite horror film slash slasher versus creature flick.
- 20:16SPEAKER_02: And which one we prefer more of in this day and age or in the past.
- 20:21SPEAKER_02: No.
- 20:22SPEAKER_02: What do you what are you thinking?
- 20:25SPEAKER_03: I'm personally uh genre-wise with horror, I think I tend to lean more towards the psychological and uh supernatural horror is what I typically watch.
- 20:38SPEAKER_03: If I'm gonna watch one of the two though, it's probably gonna be a creature flick over a slasher movie.
- 20:45SPEAKER_02: I I tend to lean towards your way too.
- 20:48SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
- 20:49SPEAKER_02: Like I pre I do prefer the supernatural thriller and uh psychological horror more because I feel like it gets my mind going more.
- 20:57SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 20:58SPEAKER_02: But slasher, super predictable.
- 21:00SPEAKER_02: If I just wanna go for the ride, I guess would be one that goes with that.
- 21:05SPEAKER_02: But one I'm really anticipating, which is coming out in like three weeks, that I think hits this itch for both of us, is Clayface.
- 21:14SPEAKER_02: Because Clayface looks it's like a combination of like psychological thriller, body horror.
- 21:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 21:22SPEAKER_02: Oh, it looks new R.
- 21:24SPEAKER_02: With new Air.
- 21:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it looks great.
- 21:26SPEAKER_02: And I've heard there's a scene with an eyeball situation that's just gruesome, and it looks it looks cool.
- 21:37SPEAKER_01: That was that was the scene everyone at Cinemacon wouldn't stop talking about.
- 21:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 21:43SPEAKER_02: So but what would be your favorite, like supernatural thriller that you would count as your go to?
- 21:51SPEAKER_01: What is yeah, what is that?
- 21:53SPEAKER_03: I don't know if I'll say fair.
- 21:55SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna go with the one that scares me the most.
- 21:58SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 21:58SPEAKER_03: And I've watched it twice.
- 22:00SPEAKER_03: We watched it, I think we watched it together the first time, and I still I got coerced into watching it the second time because I had never planned on watching a second time.
- 22:10SPEAKER_03: It's encounter of the fourth kind.
- 22:12SPEAKER_02: We That's an owl, right?
- 22:17SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 22:18SPEAKER_03: That is 100% the one where if you see a wide owl, it means bad news.
- 22:24SPEAKER_00: We did see that together.
- 22:26SPEAKER_03: I will say Hold on, hold on.
- 22:30SPEAKER_01: We saw that together.
- 22:32SPEAKER_01: I don't know why we thought this was a good idea, but there was a point in the movie where I literally looked away, had my hand over my eyes, and I just turned my head and stared at Cody.
- 22:47SPEAKER_01: And Cody's just looking at me, and I go, I cannot take it anymore.
- 22:52SPEAKER_01: Let me know when this scene ends.
- 22:54SPEAKER_01: Oh, is that just when she's on screen?
- 22:56SPEAKER_01: I think it's when she was on screen.
- 22:58SPEAKER_01: She looks scary herself.
- 23:00SPEAKER_01: I think it's what it was.
- 23:01SPEAKER_01: I can't remember the scene.
- 23:02SPEAKER_01: And Cody just looks at me with like wide eyes and goes, okay.
- 23:09SPEAKER_01: And I'm just like, they're just the most scared face looking at Cody.
- 23:16SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 23:17SPEAKER_01: We were ah dude, we were because like we we both sat in separate chairs.
- 23:22SPEAKER_01: By the end, we were pretty close to each other.
- 23:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 23:27SPEAKER_01: Oh, I forgot about that.
- 23:29SPEAKER_01: That was wild.
- 23:30SPEAKER_02: So I was thinking of like her face is grotesque.
- 23:33SPEAKER_02: It's so freaky.
- 23:35SPEAKER_01: Which um I had a friend live in that part of like Alaska for like two years.
- 23:42SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 23:42SPEAKER_01: And I showed him pictures from the movie, and he goes, Those are way too many trees for this to be the same area.
- 23:49SPEAKER_01: I go, Oh, really?
- 23:50SPEAKER_01: He goes, Yeah, there's nothing out there.
- 23:52SPEAKER_01: I was like, oh, well, what about this video footage of the UFO?
- 23:56SPEAKER_01: He's like, I don't know, I don't know where that house would have been.
- 23:59SPEAKER_01: There's no trees out there.
- 24:01SPEAKER_01: And I was like, oh shoot.
- 24:02SPEAKER_01: Okay, well then this is bull crap.
- 24:06SPEAKER_01: Bullcrap or not, it still freaks me out.
- 24:10SPEAKER_01: I saw that movie.
- 24:11SPEAKER_01: I did, so like you, I was like, I will never it was a good movie for what it was.
- 24:15SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 24:15SPEAKER_01: I will never watch it again.
- 24:17SPEAKER_01: I for some reason was convinced to watch it again.
- 24:23SPEAKER_03: The second time I watched it was in Quincy just with some of my friends from college, and it was just one eye that were like, hey, you want to come over and watch a movie?
- 24:31SPEAKER_03: Not telling me what we're gonna watch, and I'm just like, yeah, sure.
- 24:34SPEAKER_03: Come down to watch a movie, and then I get there and they're like, oh yeah, we're watching Encounter of the Fourth Kind.
- 24:40SPEAKER_03: And just internally I went, fuuuuh.
- 24:43SPEAKER_01: You could have just left.
- 24:44SPEAKER_03: I should have, but then I would feel like a dick.
- 24:47SPEAKER_01: So that was the that was one of those horror movies where like watching it the f for me, watching it the first time, I was like, horrible, never want to see it again.
- 24:55SPEAKER_01: Second time I was watching it, I got bored of it.
- 24:58SPEAKER_01: Nothing was scary to me, not even the lady.
- 25:01SPEAKER_01: And like maybe 20 minutes in, I was like, this movie sucks, and I turned it off.
- 25:07SPEAKER_01: So yeah.
- 25:09SPEAKER_01: I don't remember who I saw it with the second time.
- 25:11SPEAKER_01: I have a guess, because I used to watch a lot of horror movies with this person, and they also found it boring, but I can't actually for sure remember who.
- 25:21SPEAKER_01: That's fair.
- 25:24SPEAKER_01: Me, my turn.
- 25:26SPEAKER_01: Um so here's the thing.
- 25:29SPEAKER_01: So when it comes to like either like like you said, slasher or creature feature.
- 25:35SPEAKER_01: Uh honestly, it depends how gory it is.
- 25:41SPEAKER_01: Each one.
- 25:42SPEAKER_02: That's fair.
- 25:42SPEAKER_01: Alright?
- 25:43SPEAKER_01: And I know you're like, well, it's a slasher, it's gory.
- 25:45SPEAKER_01: The original slashers were not that glory.
- 25:48SPEAKER_01: Gory, glory.
- 25:49SPEAKER_01: Gory, because those were from like the 80s past.
- 25:53SPEAKER_01: It wasn't about how grotesque can we make it look.
- 25:56SPEAKER_01: It was like, how can we make this like bloody?
- 25:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 25:59SPEAKER_01: You know, like with Nightmare and Al Street, the blood shooting out of the bed.
- 26:03SPEAKER_01: Like that wasn't grotesque, that was just blood shooting out of the bed.
- 26:08SPEAKER_01: Um but when you're looking at something like Hatchet with Victor Crowley, that's grotesque.
- 26:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 26:14SPEAKER_01: So either one with the creature horror or with even fixed my mic.
- 26:22SPEAKER_01: With the creature horror, or even with slasher, just depends how grotesque it is.
- 26:27SPEAKER_01: Um I don't really have I guess creature.
- 26:31SPEAKER_01: No, I don't I'm all honestly, I don't really have a preference.
- 26:34SPEAKER_01: Um there we go.
- 26:36SPEAKER_01: So I'm fixing my mic, it's stupid.
- 26:38SPEAKER_01: Uh here's where I always get caught though, because people are like, what's your favorite horror movie?
- 26:45SPEAKER_01: My favorite movie in general.
- 26:49SPEAKER_01: Sounds like Star Wars, but like whatever.
- 26:52SPEAKER_01: My favorite movie is Alien.
- 26:55SPEAKER_03: That's what I thought you were gonna say.
- 26:57SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 26:58SPEAKER_01: I love Alien.
- 26:59SPEAKER_01: I watch that movie.
- 27:00SPEAKER_01: That's horror.
- 27:01SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 27:01SPEAKER_01: But that's the thing.
- 27:02SPEAKER_02: It's sci-fi horror, though.
- 27:04SPEAKER_01: When you when you ask me though, what's your favorite horror movie?
- 27:08SPEAKER_01: Do I say Alien?
- 27:10SPEAKER_01: Or do I not say that because that's my favorite movie?
- 27:14SPEAKER_01: And it is a horror movie because to this day that movie gives me nightmares.
- 27:18SPEAKER_01: Fun fact about that.
- 27:18SPEAKER_01: It's it's terrifying.
- 27:20SPEAKER_01: I still get that movie, I've seen the movie a hundred times literally, and I still get scared watching it.
- 27:25SPEAKER_01: It's crazy how scary that movie is to be.
- 27:29SPEAKER_03: I think just because it's your favorite movie doesn't mean it can't also be your favorite in that genre.
- 27:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 27:38SPEAKER_03: Like I still don't subjective about it.
- 27:42SPEAKER_03: That's fair.
- 27:43SPEAKER_03: Okay, then I guess if you don't want to count it, what would you say?
- 27:47SPEAKER_03: If you're not gonna say that's your favorite, then I guess in a sense, what is your second favorite horror movie?
- 27:57SPEAKER_03: If you essentially just want to disqualify it since it's your favorite in the favorite.
- 28:02SPEAKER_01: So it's like, what's your favorite horror movie besides Alien?
- 28:05SPEAKER_03: You said it you said it earlier.
- 28:07SPEAKER_01: I did.
- 28:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 28:08SPEAKER_03: Oh, Jaws.
- 28:11SPEAKER_03: You have mentioned that one a few times.
- 28:13SPEAKER_01: What did I say?
- 28:14SPEAKER_01: Oh, Saw?
- 28:16SPEAKER_01: Is that my favorite horror movie?
- 28:17SPEAKER_03: I don't know if you said favorite.
- 28:19SPEAKER_03: I think you just said it was one of the best.
- 28:21SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 28:22SPEAKER_01: Saw is one of man.
- 28:26SPEAKER_01: This was not the topic.
- 28:27SPEAKER_01: But like, Saw is one of the best movies.
- 28:31SPEAKER_01: It's the first one.
- 28:32SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
- 28:33SPEAKER_01: The second one is when it starts to get into like how effed up can we make this?
- 28:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 28:37SPEAKER_01: The first one is a mystery movie.
- 28:40SPEAKER_02: It's a th well, I would consider it thriller horror movie.
- 28:44SPEAKER_01: It's a mystery, thriller, horror movie, and you're with these characters the whole time trying to figure things out.
- 28:50SPEAKER_01: And I freaking love that, man.
- 28:52SPEAKER_01: That's really good.
- 28:54SPEAKER_01: I have recency bias when it comes to favorite horror movies besides Alien.
- 28:58SPEAKER_01: So like right now, it's like, what's your favorite my favorite horror movie besides Alien?
- 29:02SPEAKER_01: Sinners.
- 29:03SPEAKER_01: Like it's not a bad pick by any means.
- 29:08SPEAKER_02: It's a great movie, but definitely a creature flick, though.
- 29:12SPEAKER_01: Uh are vampires creatures, or are they just humans with a really bad virus?
- 29:17SPEAKER_03: I mean, it'd be considered under the creature feeling.
- 29:20SPEAKER_01: That was the stupidest thing I probably ever said on this podcast.
- 29:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they're creatures.
- 29:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they're well specifically on this one, I think it would be more of a creature because is it Malik?
- 29:31SPEAKER_02: No, that's not his name.
- 29:34SPEAKER_02: Who's the white the white vampire?
- 29:37SPEAKER_02: The name.
- 29:41SPEAKER_02: The white vampire name.
- 29:42SPEAKER_02: I I don't remember.
- 29:44SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna say Malik, because they went on the folklore aspect of it to where he's from Ireland.
- 29:50SPEAKER_02: He may be more of like the pagan fee type of vampire versus like what we're thinking Dracula and all that good jazz is.
- 30:02SPEAKER_02: So they lean more into that.
- 30:03SPEAKER_02: So I would say it's more creature feature.
- 30:05SPEAKER_02: And you would have to say the they kind of morphed into creatures like cornbread, or that's not his name.
- 30:11SPEAKER_02: The heavier set guy.
- 30:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 30:13SPEAKER_02: He like morphed into something.
- 30:16SPEAKER_01: I also think when people ask me the question of like what's your favorite thingy?
- 30:20SPEAKER_01: Uh I'm like, oh, it's the um uh We're Wolfman with um Benicio del Toro.
- 30:29SPEAKER_01: Benicio del Toro and uh Anthony Hopkins.
- 30:32SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 30:32SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 30:33SPEAKER_02: That's a good one too, though.
- 30:34SPEAKER_01: Didn't I see that with you too?
- 30:36SPEAKER_01: Probably.
- 30:37SPEAKER_01: Like I know we've been at your house and I've watched that movie multiple times.
- 30:40SPEAKER_02: I love that movie.
- 30:41SPEAKER_01: That's a good movie.
- 30:42SPEAKER_02: That is a good movie.
- 30:44SPEAKER_02: Uh I would say one of my top ones is, and it's it's a cult classic, but it's up there.
- 30:51SPEAKER_02: I love Event Horizon.
- 30:53SPEAKER_01: I can't watch that movie.
- 30:55SPEAKER_02: I love that movie.
- 30:56SPEAKER_02: And it's supernatural science fiction wrapped into all one with like thrilling because you don't know if they're actually gonna make it or not.
- 31:05SPEAKER_02: Solid, solid movie.
- 31:06SPEAKER_02: And it's like body horror because of what a couple scenes.
- 31:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah, especially at the end.
- 31:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 31:12SPEAKER_02: Like Sam Neil.
- 31:14SPEAKER_01: What do you think that whatever it was that took over the ship, do you think it was gone in the end, or do you think it was still there?
- 31:24SPEAKER_02: Oh no, it was still there.
- 31:25SPEAKER_01: You think it's still there?
- 31:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 31:26SPEAKER_01: Because all they all they did was just have the door shut.
- 31:30SPEAKER_01: And some people think that was it showing that it's still on the ship.
- 31:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 31:36SPEAKER_01: Or some people are just like, well no, that's just how it ended.
- 31:39SPEAKER_02: No, it's still there.
- 31:40SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 31:41SPEAKER_02: That that ship's like cursed.
- 31:44SPEAKER_01: Well, but remember, the ship went back, it was the escape pod that was.
- 31:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 31:50SPEAKER_02: I I still think it's there.
- 31:52SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 31:52SPEAKER_02: Now now my other one takes a left turn to where I don't I'm pretty sure Cody hasn't seen it.
- 32:00SPEAKER_02: You may have seen it, but it's a uh mystery horror thriller, and it's called Identity.
- 32:11SPEAKER_02: And it's got John Cusack in it, and it's about these Oh, and uh Ray Leota's in it, too.
- 32:19SPEAKER_01: It sounds familiar.
- 32:20SPEAKER_02: Uh it's about where uh group of people get stranded in a desert hotel in the middle of like a big storm, and people just start dying, and you gotta figure it out.
- 32:32SPEAKER_01: Just start dying.
- 32:33SPEAKER_02: And then it has a wicked twist at the end of what the actual deal is.
- 32:40SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 32:41SPEAKER_02: Uh but that one is up there too.
- 32:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 32:45SPEAKER_02: I don't really have that many creature flicks that I ro I like the more I think about it.
- 32:51SPEAKER_02: No, I haven't seen that one.
- 32:52SPEAKER_02: Because like, the more I think about it, all the creature flicks, I don't think I like them because they all like kind of end the same.
- 32:58SPEAKER_01: Are you gonna see Whalefall?
- 33:01SPEAKER_02: I don't I it's not interesting to me.
- 33:03SPEAKER_02: Oh, really?
- 33:04SPEAKER_02: Now, the werewolf one that comes out in December looks cool.
- 33:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 33:08SPEAKER_02: Now I'll see that one, but Whalefall just I can't get behind it.
- 33:13SPEAKER_01: I um What do you mean by the creature films kind of all end the same?
- 33:19SPEAKER_02: Well, it's always like some creatures starts killing things, group of people shows up, and then they figure out what the creature is, and then they take out the creature, and they either die or they uh kill it somehow in some way.
- 33:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 33:38SPEAKER_02: Insert like Anaconda, Deep Blue Sea, uh eight uh not eight-legged freaks, because that's a comedy horror.
- 33:47SPEAKER_02: Uh still ends the same though.
- 33:49SPEAKER_02: That's fair.
- 33:50SPEAKER_02: Tremors.
- 33:50SPEAKER_02: Although Tremors I wouldn't say is a horror movie.
- 33:53SPEAKER_01: Cody, have you ever seen Tremors?
- 33:55SPEAKER_03: I have seen the second one, which I know is weird.
- 34:00SPEAKER_03: Whoa.
- 34:02SPEAKER_03: I don't know where or why, but I know for some reason it was the second one that I saw.
- 34:08SPEAKER_03: With the shriekers?
- 34:09SPEAKER_03: That's crazy.
- 34:10SPEAKER_03: I believe so.
- 34:10SPEAKER_01: Have you seen the one, Alex, uh, that takes place in Australia?
- 34:14SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 34:15SPEAKER_01: I love that one so much.
- 34:16SPEAKER_02: I was like, what are we doing?
- 34:17SPEAKER_02: I love it so much.
- 34:18SPEAKER_02: But to me, they all just end the same.
- 34:21SPEAKER_02: And that's why I think I get bored of them.
- 34:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm trying to think of a of a creature one that doesn't end the same, but I'm like, yeah, like the blob, they set it on fire.
- 34:31SPEAKER_02: Well, I guess the one that comes to mind that doesn't end the same, and you actually don't know if it lives or dies, technically, is the thing.
- 34:40SPEAKER_01: Dude, there's a lot of stuff about that too.
- 34:42SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 34:43SPEAKER_02: And like I thought there is a secret to tell who's infected by the thing or not.
- 34:47SPEAKER_01: Well, and then even John Carpenter is just like, oh, I know the answer to that question, but like, wouldn't you like to know?
- 34:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 34:54SPEAKER_01: And it's like uh well if you base it off of the video game, which is based off the book, like, no, it's not dead, but you killed it in the video game.
- 35:03SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 35:03SPEAKER_01: But um, I I don't I'm not about that.
- 35:07SPEAKER_01: Supposedly, like they did get Kurt Russell to come back to voice his character in the movie, I mean in the video game.
- 35:12SPEAKER_01: I'm still like, ah, I'm not about that.
- 35:14SPEAKER_02: So I guess supposedly in the movie, the ones where you can see the light in the eyes of the actors, those are real people.
- 35:28SPEAKER_02: The one that doesn't have the light in the eye is the thing.
- 35:31SPEAKER_01: I've heard the opposite.
- 35:33SPEAKER_02: It may be the opposite.
- 35:34SPEAKER_01: I Well, but even at the very end of the movie, like Kurt Russell is there, but you never see him take a drink of whatever's in the bottle.
- 35:43SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 35:43SPEAKER_01: And some people speculate that that was gasoline.
- 35:46SPEAKER_01: And they gave and he gave it to the other guy to see if he would take that or not, and then he drank it, and that's why he was like kind of chuckled.
- 35:55SPEAKER_01: But I'm like, I don't know if that's true or not.
- 35:58SPEAKER_01: Also, you could see, but at the same time, you see the breath leave Kurt Russell's mouth, but you don't see any breath leave uh the other guy's mouth.
- 36:07SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 36:07SPEAKER_01: So it's like, okay.
- 36:09SPEAKER_01: I don't know if I don't know if that is John Carpenter saying that, like, here's how you can tell, or if it was just him playing games with us.
- 36:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 36:19SPEAKER_01: Which by the way, the 2011 The Thing, which is a prequel, I like that movie.
- 36:24SPEAKER_01: It's a good movie.
- 36:26SPEAKER_02: I actually don't have any say on that one.
- 36:28SPEAKER_02: It is what it is.
- 36:29SPEAKER_01: I like.
- 36:29SPEAKER_01: That movie actually sucks.
- 36:30SPEAKER_01: It's a bad movie, but I enjoyed it.
- 36:33SPEAKER_02: That's fair.
- 36:35SPEAKER_02: Uh I also didn't like Slither.
- 36:38SPEAKER_02: I guess that's another creature feature.
- 36:39SPEAKER_01: I never saw that one.
- 36:40SPEAKER_01: That was James Gunn's first movie.
- 36:42SPEAKER_02: And it had Nathan Filion in it, and I just didn't like it.
- 36:45SPEAKER_01: I never saw it.
- 36:45SPEAKER_01: I was never about that.
- 36:47SPEAKER_01: I don't think I've seen it.
- 36:48SPEAKER_03: What's your other one?
- 36:49SPEAKER_03: I mean, one of them on my list would have been the Benicio del Toro werewolf, or I guess Wolf Man.
- 36:56SPEAKER_03: Mostly because the first time I watched it, the effects that they used for his transformation, I just thought were some of the best special effects I'd seen for a werewolf transformation up to that point, and it just hooked me.
- 37:12SPEAKER_02: Even better than uh oh um is it the American Werewolf in Paris?
- 37:18SPEAKER_02: Because that one's always like I haven't seen that.
- 37:20SPEAKER_01: It's American Werewolf in London.
- 37:22SPEAKER_02: Oh, it's in London.
- 37:23SPEAKER_02: I just knew that one was like one of the gold standards of werewolf transformations.
- 37:27SPEAKER_02: Haven't seen that one.
- 37:29SPEAKER_03: For me, it I just loved what they did with it.
- 37:32SPEAKER_03: That's fair.
- 37:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's a good one.
- 37:34SPEAKER_03: As far as is it a technically great movie?
- 37:38SPEAKER_03: Probably not.
- 37:39SPEAKER_03: There's probably issues with it, but I think it's a fun, just like white horror.
- 37:44SPEAKER_03: Like, I'm not gonna say like there's a ton of scary stuff to it, but if you're looking for like a lighter horror movie, I think it's a great one to watch.
- 37:51SPEAKER_02: No, it's definitely and it's one of the original monster movies.
- 37:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 37:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they do consider that one like one of the originals, don't they?
- 37:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's him, Dracula, uh Frankenstein.
- 38:02SPEAKER_02: Frankenstein, the beast in the black lagoon, and the invisible man.
- 38:06SPEAKER_01: Have you guys have you guys seen like all those like black and white originals?
- 38:11SPEAKER_01: So no.
- 38:12SPEAKER_01: They are so good.
- 38:14SPEAKER_02: I haven't seen the original Wolf Man.
- 38:17SPEAKER_02: I've seen the creature in the black lagoon and I've seen Dracula.
- 38:21SPEAKER_01: The Creature in the Black Lagoon, which I have the box set of that, by the way.
- 38:25SPEAKER_01: Um, that movie actually creeped me out more than I thought it would.
- 38:32SPEAKER_01: Because the whole time they're underwater and you're kind of holding your breath with them, and you're just like, how the flip are they getting out of this?
- 38:40SPEAKER_01: Like, that's fair.
- 38:41SPEAKER_01: It was creepy.
- 38:43SPEAKER_01: Um, I think I've seen all the I've seen all the originals.
- 38:47SPEAKER_01: Except for Frankenstein.
- 38:48SPEAKER_01: I haven't seen Frankenstein.
- 38:50SPEAKER_01: That's my favorite book, is Frankenstein.
- 38:53SPEAKER_01: Well, yeah.
- 38:54SPEAKER_01: It's a great book.
- 38:56SPEAKER_01: So have you have you guys ever have you ever read Frankenstein, Cody?
- 38:59SPEAKER_03: I don't think I've read the original ever, no.
- 39:01SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 39:02SPEAKER_03: I think we had to in high school for me.
- 39:04SPEAKER_01: I that was the first book we read in my um uh science fiction class.
- 39:10SPEAKER_01: It's a good one.
- 39:12SPEAKER_02: Well what's your next one, John?
- 39:17SPEAKER_01: Well, so you brought up the thing because for the longest time the thing used to be my favorite horror movie.
- 39:22SPEAKER_01: I was like, oh, it's the thing.
- 39:23SPEAKER_01: I was like, oh maybe Wolf Man, but like you freaking brought that up.
- 39:27SPEAKER_01: Um I finally watched a bunch of the slashers last year.
- 39:32SPEAKER_01: Like Scream and and uh Nightmare on Elf Street and uh Halloween 13th.
- 39:40SPEAKER_01: I still haven't seen Halloween, I refused to see Texas Chainsaw.
- 39:43SPEAKER_01: What about Hellraiser?
- 39:44SPEAKER_01: I did see Hellraiser.
- 39:46SPEAKER_01: That I didn't like it.
- 39:49SPEAKER_01: The first one, I was like, how the freak do we get here from this movie?
- 39:55SPEAKER_01: Like it's the puzzle box.
- 39:57SPEAKER_01: Like, no, I get that, but like the movie itself, I was like, There really wasn't a lot going on with that movie, and I didn't I didn't like the flow of it.
- 40:07SPEAKER_01: I didn't think it was a good movie, but like before I saw the movie, I knew like the lore of the the what is his what is he called?
- 40:17SPEAKER_01: Um Pinhead.
- 40:19SPEAKER_01: Pinhead, but what his his cinnabites.
- 40:22SPEAKER_01: Like I knew about the cinnabites, I knew about the lore of them.
- 40:25SPEAKER_01: I was like, okay, well, I can't wait to see the movie to see where all this comes from.
- 40:29SPEAKER_01: Nowhere, nowhere in the movie is any of that.
- 40:31SPEAKER_01: The closest thing he got to was just like, oh, pain is pleasure to us.
- 40:36SPEAKER_01: But they say that once, nonchalantly, and I was like, where did okay, so yeah, I didn't really like uh Hellraiser to be honest.
- 40:45SPEAKER_01: I didn't think it was a good movie.
- 40:47SPEAKER_02: It kind of goes in depth more as the more you go.
- 40:49SPEAKER_01: Well, yeah, obviously.
- 40:50SPEAKER_01: I mean, like, you see the labyrinth in it, but like that's about it.
- 40:55SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 40:56SPEAKER_03: If John still needs it.
- 40:57SPEAKER_03: I know one, like, I guess it'd be a slasher one that I know I've seen that I think probably gets underrated a lot in the slasher group is oh sh uh Jeepers Creepers.
- 41:09SPEAKER_03: I'd never seen that one.
- 41:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 41:11SPEAKER_02: That one, see, that one's interesting because do you consider it a slasher?
- 41:15SPEAKER_02: Do you consider it a creature flick?
- 41:17SPEAKER_02: Because that thing is a creature.
- 41:19SPEAKER_01: It is well and the Well, that's the thing, because like you can watch something like Koo Joe, and that's about as violent as any slasher you've ever seen.
- 41:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 41:27SPEAKER_02: And the reason that one gets underrated a whole lot is because of what happened with the director.
- 41:32SPEAKER_03: Oh, so I didn't know anything happened with the director on it.
- 41:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah, he's a touchy-touchy kind of guy.
- 41:37SPEAKER_03: Ooh, yeah, that's a problem.
- 41:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 41:39SPEAKER_03: I know I don't think I ever saw the first one for Jeepers Crapers.
- 41:43SPEAKER_03: I thought it was the second one with my cousin.
- 41:45SPEAKER_03: I mean, this is I was probably like 13 or something.
- 41:48SPEAKER_03: We went over to his house and he was just like, Yeah, we're gonna watch Jeepers Creepers 2.
- 41:53SPEAKER_03: I had no idea what I was getting into.
- 41:55SPEAKER_01: If I knew it wasn't that easy to get Cody to watch movies, man.
- 42:00SPEAKER_01: You know.
- 42:01SPEAKER_02: He asked more questions now.
- 42:03SPEAKER_02: I do.
- 42:04SPEAKER_02: I do ask a lot of questions.
- 42:05SPEAKER_01: Between Jeepers Creepers and the fourth kind, he's like, what movie are we watching?
- 42:13SPEAKER_03: Watching it, uh you're not wrong, it is a creature, but it I think it feels more like a slasher movie.
- 42:21SPEAKER_03: That's fair.
- 42:22SPEAKER_03: For like how it's set up.
- 42:24SPEAKER_03: Yeah, like while he is a creature, because it I think he's technically like a scarecrow, isn't he?
- 42:29unknown: No.
- 42:30SPEAKER_01: And that's what he hides as.
- 42:31SPEAKER_03: That's what he hides as.
- 42:32SPEAKER_02: Okay, that's what it is.
- 42:33SPEAKER_01: I don't think he has one.
- 42:34SPEAKER_01: No, he's like he's just he's just its own thing.
- 42:37SPEAKER_01: Like he's just something that's yeah, they can't he's called the creeper.
- 42:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 42:42SPEAKER_03: But like the way they made it, it feels more like a Friday the 13th or a Halloween or something like that, I think, than like your normal creature feature.
- 42:52SPEAKER_01: I also don't like with the creeper that like you can't kill him.
- 42:57SPEAKER_01: I know you're gonna be like, well, you can't kill Jason.
- 42:59SPEAKER_01: No, no, no.
- 43:00SPEAKER_01: They've killed Jason many times.
- 43:03SPEAKER_01: He's just been brought back many times.
- 43:06SPEAKER_01: Like, he's dead.
- 43:08SPEAKER_03: You can't kill Michael, though.
- 43:10SPEAKER_03: So Or Freddie, I guess.
- 43:12SPEAKER_01: No, Freddy gets got.
- 43:13SPEAKER_01: Does Freddie get got actually?
- 43:16SPEAKER_03: Freddie, I don't think you can, but that one they have the explanation because he technically lives in your dreams or your nightmares, whichever one.
- 43:24SPEAKER_00: But no.
- 43:25SPEAKER_01: Oh, sorry, that was a weird yon.
- 43:27SPEAKER_01: I can't remember.
- 43:28SPEAKER_01: No, Jason killed Freddy.
- 43:30SPEAKER_02: Uh, but he opens his eyes and winks at the end of it.
- 43:32SPEAKER_01: No, no, I know he does that.
- 43:33SPEAKER_01: He kills Freddie anyway.
- 43:34SPEAKER_01: So nah he's dead.
- 43:36SPEAKER_01: He's dead.
- 43:38SPEAKER_02: Side note, that was my first set of movie boobies.
- 43:43SPEAKER_02: It was Jason versus Freddie.
- 43:44SPEAKER_01: Well, it's Freddie versus Jason.
- 43:46SPEAKER_01: I don't know what Jason versus Freddie is.
- 43:49SPEAKER_01: So you know what movie is.
- 43:52SPEAKER_01: Oh, that one.
- 43:53SPEAKER_01: Okay, I gotcha.
- 43:56SPEAKER_01: Um, how do we get to that?
- 44:00SPEAKER_01: Oh, Jeepers Creepers.
- 44:02SPEAKER_01: I don't like that you actually can't kill the creeper.
- 44:05SPEAKER_01: Because it's like, oh, he's dead.
- 44:06SPEAKER_01: Well, no, he's dead for now.
- 44:08SPEAKER_01: He's going to come back at 23 years because you can't kill him.
- 44:11SPEAKER_01: He's just a 23-year phenomenon.
- 44:14SPEAKER_01: It's like, okay, well.
- 44:15SPEAKER_02: Well, I haven't seen the I don't know what happens in the last one to tell you if they actually killed him or not.
- 44:20SPEAKER_02: I haven't seen that one either.
- 44:22SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 44:23SPEAKER_02: Because like I I don't give that director any credit towards it.
- 44:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 44:28SPEAKER_01: I mean, if he didn't direct the other ones.
- 44:30SPEAKER_02: He directed all three.
- 44:32SPEAKER_01: I don't know anything.
- 44:34SPEAKER_01: About anything, so.
- 44:35SPEAKER_03: No.
- 44:36SPEAKER_03: That one just feels like a lot of people, when you're thinking of horror, probably doesn't get brought up as much as it maybe should.
- 44:43SPEAKER_01: Oh, spawn.
- 44:44SPEAKER_01: I like spawn.
- 44:46SPEAKER_01: We counting that?
- 44:49SPEAKER_01: No?
- 44:49SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 44:49SPEAKER_01: Never mind that.
- 44:50SPEAKER_01: Maybe sort of, but you both gave me that look.
- 44:54SPEAKER_01: Never mind.
- 44:54SPEAKER_03: Only because it's like, that's a superhero.
- 44:57SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 44:58SPEAKER_03: So what?
- 44:59SPEAKER_03: It might be like a superhero horror, but it's still horror?
- 45:03SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 45:03SPEAKER_03: To me, that one would almost be almost more supernatural.
- 45:06SPEAKER_02: Is it he deals with like demons and devils?
- 45:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he works for the devil and then he then he takes then he decides to take on the devil.
- 45:16SPEAKER_01: He's like a cool version of Ghost Rider.
- 45:21SPEAKER_01: Anyways.
- 45:22SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah.
- 45:23SPEAKER_01: Alright.
- 45:23SPEAKER_01: Alright.
- 45:23SPEAKER_01: No, no, that's fine.
- 45:24SPEAKER_01: No, you both at the same time are like.
- 45:27SPEAKER_01: No.
- 45:28SPEAKER_01: Okay, that's fine.
- 45:29SPEAKER_01: Gosh.
- 45:32SPEAKER_02: I'm trying to think of a actual slasher that I've really enjoyed.
- 45:36SPEAKER_02: Like.
- 45:36SPEAKER_02: Obsession was a recent horror movie I saw.
- 45:40SPEAKER_02: Does that count as slasher?
- 45:42SPEAKER_01: Uh I'd say it's psychological.
- 45:44SPEAKER_02: That movie effed me up.
- 45:45SPEAKER_02: That's fair.
- 45:46SPEAKER_02: I'll give you that one.
- 45:47SPEAKER_02: Oh, uh, what's what's the one with uh Oh, it has Elijah Wood in the second one, because he's the lawyer, but don't hide and seek.
- 46:02SPEAKER_02: I liked hide and seek one and two.
- 46:04SPEAKER_02: I thought those were good.
- 46:06SPEAKER_01: Oh, then Red Your Not was the second one.
- 46:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 46:08SPEAKER_01: I haven't seen any of those.
- 46:09SPEAKER_01: People say I need to watch them.
- 46:10SPEAKER_02: They're pretty good.
- 46:11SPEAKER_02: I like both of those.
- 46:12SPEAKER_02: I also like Cabin in the Woods.
- 46:15SPEAKER_02: I've heard that's a really good one.
- 46:17SPEAKER_02: So, like for what it is, it's pretty good.
- 46:19SPEAKER_02: For real.
- 46:20SPEAKER_02: I like that movie for what it is.
- 46:22SPEAKER_01: That is that is the first and only movie where you see a unicorn actually kill a human.
- 46:29SPEAKER_03: Don't they kill one in Shazam 2?
- 46:32SPEAKER_01: I don't know that they actually kill anybody.
- 46:34SPEAKER_01: They they use them to attack the creatures, but that's the like as far as like a human, you actually that's the only time you see a unicorn.
- 46:42SPEAKER_01: I that's false.
- 46:44SPEAKER_01: I haven't seen Death of a Unicorn with Jenna Ortega and Paul Rudd.
- 46:49SPEAKER_02: Oh, the that movie, they definitely unicorns kill people.
- 46:53SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 46:54SPEAKER_03: Alright, well, until that It was the first one.
- 46:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, now it's now it's the first one.
- 46:59SPEAKER_01: It used to be the only one, but now it's the first one.
- 47:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you see a unicorn kill someone.
- 47:03SPEAKER_02: What a trip that movie was to Death of a Unicorn.
- 47:06SPEAKER_01: I I uh have not seen it yet.
- 47:10SPEAKER_02: Wild.
- 47:11SPEAKER_01: But um, did you know Cabin of the Woods, rightfully so, especially after watching it, was shelved.
- 47:17SPEAKER_02: Yes, it wasn't supposed to come out.
- 47:19SPEAKER_01: And the reason, Cody, this is great.
- 47:21SPEAKER_01: And this is why this is why this answered so many questions for me.
- 47:26SPEAKER_01: The reason why they pulled it back is because after Avengers came out, Chris Hemsworth was a huge name because of Thor and Avengers.
- 47:37SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 47:38SPEAKER_01: So Chris Hemsworth is one of the stars in this show, or in this movie, and Segorny Weaver's in it too.
- 47:45SPEAKER_01: And so they took it off of the shelf and released it so they could use the Chris Hemsworth Thor power to get people to get in and watch this movie.
- 47:55SPEAKER_02: Even though it was already a good movie.
- 47:57SPEAKER_02: I sure I like that movie.
- 48:00SPEAKER_02: Now the one I don't like I d the other cabin movie I don't like is uh Cabin Fever.
- 48:08SPEAKER_02: I don't like that one.
- 48:09SPEAKER_01: I don't know that one.
- 48:10SPEAKER_02: I don't know either.
- 48:11SPEAKER_02: That's the one that's got like Sweet Lou from Grind in it, and uh they go into a cabin and there's like this flesh-eating bacteria in the water because of something going on and no one can figure it out, and people's skin just keeps falling off.
- 48:25SPEAKER_02: Like, it's stupid.
- 48:27SPEAKER_01: I know grind.
- 48:30SPEAKER_03: I've I've seen that one.
- 48:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you see grind, yeah.
- 48:33SPEAKER_01: We all we all knew the reference you made.
- 48:34SPEAKER_01: We don't know what movie you're talking about.
- 48:36SPEAKER_01: That's fine.
- 48:37SPEAKER_01: Uh Evil Dead is probably my Captain in the Woods movie.
- 48:41SPEAKER_01: Evil Dead 1, 2, and I guess the Army of Darkness.
- 48:44SPEAKER_03: Yeah, Army of Darkness.
- 48:46SPEAKER_03: Are you talking like original Evil Dead or remake Evil Dead?
- 48:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Bruce Campbell?
- 48:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 48:52SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 48:53SPEAKER_03: And the tree?
- 48:54SPEAKER_03: I've seen the remake of Evil Dead, and I'm gonna lie, I found it funnier than I did scary for the remake.
- 49:03SPEAKER_02: So Evil Dead in Aately's like scary points are supposed to be second to what it's originally supposed to be, I thought.
- 49:11SPEAKER_01: So the first Evil Dead was supposed to be just a straight terrifying horror movie, which it was.
- 49:18SPEAKER_01: Second one, Bruce Campbell calls it a recoil, because it is a sequel to the first one, but they also remake it the first one at the same time.
- 49:27SPEAKER_01: Which I'm over here like, one or more movies do that.
- 49:30SPEAKER_01: But anyways, it's a recoil, and then Army of Darkness is the sequel to the second Evil Dead, which is why the second Evil Dead and Army of Darkness are funny, because they decided to go more campy on the recoil than they did with the first Evil Dead, which was just straight horror tree stuff, terrifying.
- 49:48SPEAKER_03: Heck yeah.
- 49:49SPEAKER_03: Okay, it's got tree stuff in it.
- 49:51SPEAKER_03: I don't know if I've seen the original.
- 49:52SPEAKER_03: I know I saw the remake.
- 49:54SPEAKER_01: Remake also has tree stuff in it.
- 49:55SPEAKER_03: It does.
- 49:56SPEAKER_03: It's actually more violent.
- 49:57SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's yeah.
- 49:59SPEAKER_03: I think it also has in my opinion, one of the funniest delivered lines in a horror movie when she's coming up from like the basement spot and she's already like kind of demonic.
- 50:12SPEAKER_03: She just looks at him, she's like, Come here, bitch!
- 50:17SPEAKER_01: That's just rude.
- 50:19SPEAKER_01: But I would have, but if you said please, but now I don't know I'm not gonna.
- 50:23SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 50:24SPEAKER_01: So um I don't think I have anything else to be honest.
- 50:30SPEAKER_02: The only other one I can think of is Mothman Scared Me as a kid.
- 50:33SPEAKER_02: The Mothman prophecies.
- 50:35SPEAKER_01: That trailer scared me, so I decided not to watch the movie.
- 50:37SPEAKER_02: The movie freaked me out, man.
- 50:39SPEAKER_02: I haven't seen that one.
- 50:41SPEAKER_02: I know you don't even see the damn thing in it.
- 50:43SPEAKER_02: It just freaked me out.
- 50:44SPEAKER_01: Oh, I know I brought it up.
- 50:45SPEAKER_01: Jaws.
- 50:46SPEAKER_01: I love Jaws.
- 50:47SPEAKER_01: Jaws is uh that's a creature movie.
- 50:48SPEAKER_01: That's a creature.
- 50:49SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 50:49SPEAKER_03: That's a classic creature feature, but I mean eventually when we get that out, people hear my thoughts on it.
- 50:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 50:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 51:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 51:00SPEAKER_01: I said I would edit Terminator, not Jaws.
- 51:02SPEAKER_01: Am I editing Jaws?
- 51:03SPEAKER_02: Jaws is done.
- 51:05SPEAKER_01: Oh, it is done?
- 51:06SPEAKER_01: Oh, did I not oh, I need to upload it.
- 51:08SPEAKER_01: Oh, no upload it.
- 51:10SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 51:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 51:12SPEAKER_03: I think Sure.
- 51:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Jaws.
- 51:15SPEAKER_03: A horror movie I've seen that I don't know if a lot of people remember when it gets when you talk about horror movies is oh, let me double check the name of it because I wrote it down earlier.
- 51:27SPEAKER_01: Like Oh, I guess I guess the first Godzilla would be my favorite, because that is a horror movie.
- 51:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah, because Godzilla looks like creature.
- 51:37SPEAKER_02: Because he looks like he has it's the Godzilla, it looks like he has eights.
- 51:40SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's the first one.
- 51:42SPEAKER_03: When I think Godzilla, my brain doesn't go to horror.
- 51:46SPEAKER_01: Well, you gotta remember it was it was 19 uh 57, so yeah, that was a horror movie.
- 51:54SPEAKER_02: Oh, I thought you were talking about the 90s Godzilla.
- 51:56SPEAKER_01: No, the original.
- 51:57SPEAKER_01: Hey! You'd be nice to him.
- 52:01SPEAKER_03: Technically.
- 52:02SPEAKER_01: You'd be nice to that Godzilla, man.
- 52:04SPEAKER_03: When you're getting into some of the real old stuff, it does get weirder when you think about it.
- 52:08SPEAKER_03: Because like technically King Kong is a horror movie.
- 52:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, King Kong is also a horror movie.
- 52:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 52:13SPEAKER_03: You just don't think of it being horror when you think King Kong.
- 52:17SPEAKER_01: The first Terminator movie is a horror movie.
- 52:20SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 52:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 52:22SPEAKER_01: It's de it that is under the definition of horror.
- 52:25SPEAKER_03: Yeah, okay.
- 52:25SPEAKER_03: Yeah, the one I was thinking of earlier is the Orphan.
- 52:28SPEAKER_03: I don't know if either of you.
- 52:30SPEAKER_03: I couldn't finish that.
- 52:31SPEAKER_01: I was like 20 minutes until it being done, or maybe 30 minutes, and I was like, I'm I can't.
- 52:35SPEAKER_02: That's the one with the old lady pretending to be a kid, right?
- 52:38SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 52:38SPEAKER_01: That was like a an essentially based off of a true story, but even when you look at that, it was like it's a weird story.
- 52:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 52:45SPEAKER_03: The based on the true story then kind of falls apart.
- 52:48SPEAKER_03: I just thought the premise of it was kind of weird, like, just enough to kind of creep you out.
- 52:55SPEAKER_03: And I think like I thought they did a good job with it.
- 52:58SPEAKER_03: It just seems like no one ever really talks about that one.
- 53:01SPEAKER_03: So I saw that's fair.
- 53:02SPEAKER_01: I saw the movie with that person I mentioned earlier that I used to watch a lot of horror movies with, and they were like, they were like, this movie scares me so much, like you should you should watch this movie.
- 53:12SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, okay, let's watch it.
- 53:14SPEAKER_01: And I'm like blank faced the whole time, waiting for the scary part to happen.
- 53:20SPEAKER_01: And I I was like, I'm not having fun with this movie, and they were like, Yeah, I can tell, we'll go watch something else.
- 53:28SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 53:29SPEAKER_01: And and they were like, Well, do you want me to tell you the reveal?
- 53:34SPEAKER_01: And I went, Was she like an old lady, just doesn't age?
- 53:40SPEAKER_01: And this person looked at me like like I said the most wrong thing in the world, and they were like, You you son of a gun.
- 53:49SPEAKER_01: I was like, What?
- 53:50SPEAKER_01: She's they were like, Well, she's she's yeah, she's an old lady, but I was like, So why are you mad at me?
- 53:55SPEAKER_01: And they were like, 'cause I couldn't freaking figure out what the twist was, and that was the part that scared me when you figured it out, and I was like, It's not scary.
- 54:04SPEAKER_01: She's just being a dick.
- 54:07SPEAKER_01: Like, that's literally what it is.
- 54:09SPEAKER_01: I was like, That's a fair point.
- 54:12SPEAKER_01: None of that movie was scary or suspenseful.
- 54:16SPEAKER_01: Uh like the I figured it out quick, and I was like, we're just watching this old lady being a piece of trash.
- 54:21SPEAKER_01: It's fair.
- 54:22SPEAKER_01: That's yeah.
- 54:23SPEAKER_01: So like, there it is.
- 54:25SPEAKER_01: No.
- 54:26SPEAKER_02: Though my last two that I think are need either a sequel or B redone are Thirteen Ghosts and Trick or Tree.
- 54:38SPEAKER_02: I love both those movies.
- 54:40SPEAKER_02: And I think Thirteen Ghosts would be dope as like a series where it's like each each episode, you do 13 episodes, and each episode is a go one of the ghosts.
- 54:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and then you get to 13 and it shows like Cyrus wanting to collect them now.
- 54:57SPEAKER_02: And then you can go into the second season and show.
- 55:00SPEAKER_01: Apparently, that's like an actual premise that's being worked on right now.
- 55:04SPEAKER_02: I hope so.
- 55:05SPEAKER_02: Because that would be dope.
- 55:06SPEAKER_01: I think I think the biggest discussion is them either like do we do 13 episodes or do we do 13 seasons, and each one's about the ghost.
- 55:15SPEAKER_02: I would rather do 13 episodes.
- 55:17SPEAKER_01: But it'd be like, but it'd be like uh like one of those like five to eight episode like seasons.
- 55:22SPEAKER_03: No, do two seasons, thirteen episodes each season.
- 55:26SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 55:26SPEAKER_03: I think that probably would work better than trying to do 13 seasons, because what happens if you have 13 seasons planned and like three seasons in people are like, okay, I'm kind of bored.
- 55:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 55:38SPEAKER_01: Um I guess that's the risk of any show.
- 55:41SPEAKER_01: Well, two seasons, but I don't know.
- 55:49SPEAKER_03: Like, that's a better bet that it's like you tell your story and then you're done.
- 55:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 55:54SPEAKER_02: Well, and then you can make because Cyrus was like a Tony Shaloube uh look-alike, because Tony Shaloube was the good guy in the movie.
- 56:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 56:03SPEAKER_02: Well, you could flip that and don't use Tony Shaloube in this one.
- 56:07SPEAKER_02: You could use Matthew Lillard to do a callback to the movie.
- 56:10SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 56:11SPEAKER_01: Well, it could be that could be interesting.
- 56:12SPEAKER_02: Because he's older now, so he could be like the tycoon.
- 56:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 56:16SPEAKER_01: That'd be interesting.
- 56:17SPEAKER_01: I haven't seen either of those movies.
- 56:19SPEAKER_01: I hear Trick or Treat's quite interesting.
- 56:22SPEAKER_02: I love Trick or Treat.
- 56:23SPEAKER_02: It's another anthology, like it has like it's one movie, but it tells like four different stories that are all like interconnected into it, and it's pretty cool.
- 56:30SPEAKER_01: It reminds me, I need to see Weapons is on my list this year from my October marathon.
- 56:36SPEAKER_03: I have heard that movie's really good, but also real freaky.
- 56:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 56:41SPEAKER_01: Weapons?
- 56:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 56:42SPEAKER_01: I'm not gonna lie, after watching Obsession, I I feel like I can take on the world with certain horror movies.
- 56:49SPEAKER_01: It's probably fair.
- 56:50SPEAKER_01: Have you have either of you guys seen Obsession?
- 56:52SPEAKER_01: Nope, I haven't.
- 56:53SPEAKER_01: I don't see that's the thing, like, it's a good movie, but like I I don't I like I want to recommend it because it's a good movie, but I don't because that movie will mess you up.
- 57:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 57:06SPEAKER_01: Like, especially if you've been in like any form of an abusive relationship.
- 57:13SPEAKER_01: Like, it was it let me tell you brought back brought back some memories, man.
- 57:19SPEAKER_01: I was like, well, this is fun.
- 57:21SPEAKER_01: Didn't need to bring that up, but that's cool.
- 57:25SPEAKER_01: But it's a it's just such a good movie.
- 57:27SPEAKER_01: Is that a slasher?
- 57:28SPEAKER_01: You already asked that.
- 57:30SPEAKER_01: The more I think about the more I'm like, I don't know if obsession is a slasher or not.
- 57:34SPEAKER_03: I haven't not seen it, I couldn't I don't actually know anything.
- 57:37SPEAKER_01: Okay, I'm not gonna lie, there's technically like one death in it.
- 57:42SPEAKER_01: Like there's more deaths, but there's like like during the movie, there's like one death.
- 57:46SPEAKER_01: And it's it's really brutal.
- 57:49SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 57:49SPEAKER_01: It's not subtle either.
- 57:52SPEAKER_01: Which is the only reason like which is why I keep thinking back to that one scene, and I'm like, man, is it a slasher?
- 57:58SPEAKER_01: It's like the whole movie, there was no murder, and they were like, hey, let's just let's have this one person get murdered, but because we haven't done it in the whole movie, let's just really, really get into it.
- 58:10SPEAKER_01: And it's fair.
- 58:12SPEAKER_01: It's like I I remember watching that, and after that I was like, I need to stand up, and like I stood up in the theaters and was just in the back of the theater standing.
- 58:23SPEAKER_02: So I haven't seen the movie, but was it not just used as so violent and grotesque to show how far gone and crazy this person is now?
- 58:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that could be part of it too.
- 58:35SPEAKER_02: Like I feel like if that's just hearing about it, I was like, it seems like that's what it's gonna lean into.
- 58:40SPEAKER_01: I think you need to I think you you need to watch it, Alex.
- 58:44SPEAKER_01: I don't know if you need to watch it, Cody.
- 58:47SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 58:47SPEAKER_01: I think you need to watch it, Alex, though.
- 58:50SPEAKER_01: And just let me know what you think.
- 58:52SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 58:53SPEAKER_01: Like, uh.
- 58:56SPEAKER_01: So I think you're okay now watching.
- 58:58SPEAKER_01: Well, you like horror movies.
- 59:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I enjoy horror movies.
- 59:02SPEAKER_01: Now don't watch it.
- 59:03SPEAKER_01: No, I like you.
- 59:04SPEAKER_01: Oh, so you can watch it.
- 59:09SPEAKER_03: So That's fair.
- 59:11SPEAKER_03: I guess if we're doing something with horror movies, I gotta at least shout one out for one of our buddies, Bryant.
- 59:18SPEAKER_03: I know one of the bigger I don't know if you'd say it's even a cult following now, horror movies, but I mean it's probably the newest in the slasher genre would be terrifier.
- 59:30SPEAKER_01: I haven't seen that.
- 59:31SPEAKER_03: I have I've seen part of it just because obviously I was at the theater when it came out, so I would catch bits when I would have to go in.
- 59:37SPEAKER_01: You told me about that, yeah.
- 59:39SPEAKER_03: It's not for me.
- 59:40SPEAKER_03: I think it's a little too over the top for me to enjoy it, but I understand that like right now it is a huge following, and I mean it does feel like the first new like slasher thing we've had.
- 59:55SPEAKER_03: Because it like I get it's kind of a creature thing because he's not like just a person, yeah, but it is a slasher.
- 1:00:02SPEAKER_01: I'd say he's a slasher guy.
- 1:00:03SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:00:04SPEAKER_01: And that's the thing about like I think Terrifier is a perfect example for me when I said like it can't be too grotesque, because like for me, for me, horror is like spicy food.
- 1:00:15SPEAKER_01: I love spicy food.
- 1:00:16SPEAKER_01: Spicy food is the best.
- 1:00:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:00:18SPEAKER_01: But when you use spicy food as a seasoning, like how it's supposed to be, when you use hot stuff like a seasoning, how it's supposed to be, it's freaking delicious.
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_01: Yes, it's still hot, and my mouth is on fire, but it's delicious.
- 1:00:32SPEAKER_01: Now, when you use spice to make things hot just to make it hot, it is disgusting to me.
- 1:00:40SPEAKER_01: And I I'm not even talking about like one chip challenge type of stuff, which that was also gross, but like when I when somebody's like, Yeah, I made like really hot food for you, and they just put hot crap in there to make it hot and no other reason, I'm like, this is disgusting.
- 1:00:54SPEAKER_01: That's how I am with horror.
- 1:00:55SPEAKER_01: Like, yes, I know there's gonna be blood and gore and grotesqueness and horror.
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_01: That's fine.
- 1:01:01SPEAKER_01: If you do it for the seasoning of the movie, yeah, love it.
- 1:01:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, if you're just doing it to make it like terrifier, just to make it as horrifyingly grotesque as possible, and like, no, I'm not about that.
- 1:01:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we don't need that, it's gross.
- 1:01:19SPEAKER_01: I at that that's not a thing for me.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_02: Oh me neither.
- 1:01:22SPEAKER_02: I would also throw hostile in there for that.
- 1:01:24SPEAKER_02: I can't watch hostile because of that.
- 1:01:26SPEAKER_01: Is it like is it like Saw where the first one isn't as no?
- 1:01:31SPEAKER_02: Okay, well that would it's straight up torture.
- 1:01:34SPEAKER_02: Actually, it's like it's watching people get tortured.
- 1:01:36SPEAKER_01: Isn't there a scene with the lady and like a lawnmower?
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_01: Oh no, no, no, no, no, not the lawnmower.
- 1:01:43SPEAKER_01: She cuts them open and dances in their blood.
- 1:01:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, in the first one.
- 1:01:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm not watching that.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_02: Uh the one that I distinctly remember, it was they had this dude strapped to a table, and I don't think either of you have gone through science classes like this, but like think of like an autopsy table.
- 1:02:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:02:05SPEAKER_02: And the guy had his leg fillet open, just the skin aspect of it, and then it showed all the veins, muscles, and all that good jazz, and the other guy had a uh what's one of those Japanese grills?
- 1:02:20SPEAKER_01: Hibachi?
- 1:02:21SPEAKER_02: No, like the little bot like a bento grill.
- 1:02:25SPEAKER_02: Like it's like a little tabletop grill.
- 1:02:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:02:28SPEAKER_02: Just like a little hot plate.
- 1:02:30SPEAKER_02: Kind of, but it was like grill with like charcoal.
- 1:02:33SPEAKER_01: Like a blacktop grill.
- 1:02:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah, sure.
- 1:02:35SPEAKER_02: Either way, he had a grill, and he was just like slicing the guy's leg, putting it on the grill while he's awake, and just distinctly remember that.
- 1:02:45unknown: Yeah.
- 1:02:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_01: Oh, you mentioned shows too, right?
- 1:02:49SPEAKER_01: Uh the Hannibal TV show.
- 1:02:51SPEAKER_01: Love everything about it.
- 1:02:52SPEAKER_01: We can go into that later, though.
- 1:02:53SPEAKER_01: I think we're getting right up on time.
- 1:02:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we're coming up on time.
- 1:02:56SPEAKER_02: I love that show.
- 1:02:57SPEAKER_02: That was like the first time I had to stop eating during a show because I wasn't ready for something.
- 1:03:04SPEAKER_01: That's that's the show I after episode two, I was like, this show's incredible.
- 1:03:10SPEAKER_01: Anything with Lawrence Fishburg's incredible.
- 1:03:13SPEAKER_01: Um, as I've never seen Event Horizon.
- 1:03:16SPEAKER_01: But I'm like, I was after episode two, I was like, this is an incredible show.
- 1:03:20SPEAKER_01: And I know the rest of the season's gonna be incredible and everything to come.
- 1:03:24SPEAKER_01: I will not eat or drink anything while watching it, though.
- 1:03:27SPEAKER_02: So I was eating while watching the show.
- 1:03:31SPEAKER_02: And I did not make that decision because I was like, I've seen this before, like, I know everything.
- 1:03:34SPEAKER_01: And I was eating, and it was Chinese food, and that's not the food to eat, but I was watching this show, dude.
- 1:03:41SPEAKER_02: I know, I know.
- 1:03:42SPEAKER_02: And as I was eating, and like one of the police officers figures it out and follows him, Maz Mickelson, and Maz Mickelson like catches up behind her, is like you shouldn't have figured this out, and like knocks her out.
- 1:03:56SPEAKER_02: Literally, the next scene is no one can find her, they go to where they she followed him to, and he fucking put her in a uh he froze her, by continuously bisected her to where I don't know if you've ever seen like slides in a cell to where you move one and it shows different layers.
- 1:04:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that was her body.
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_02: I wasn't ready for that.
- 1:04:24SPEAKER_02: Disgusting.
- 1:04:26SPEAKER_01: Well, I'm I'm good on that note.
- 1:04:28SPEAKER_01: I'm good with all this stuff.
- 1:04:30SPEAKER_01: Let's end on that note.
- 1:04:31SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 1:04:32SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 1:04:33SPEAKER_02: Do you have a movie quote?
- 1:04:34SPEAKER_02: I do have one, but it's a TV show.
- 1:04:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah, what's up?
- 1:04:37SPEAKER_02: That's fine.
- 1:04:38SPEAKER_02: Alright, y'all ready?
- 1:04:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:04:40SPEAKER_02: Viewer, beware.
- 1:04:42SPEAKER_02: You're in for a scare.
- 1:04:46SPEAKER_02: Creep show?
- 1:04:47SPEAKER_02: Goosebumps.
- 1:04:48SPEAKER_01: Oh, fetch.
- 1:04:49SPEAKER_01: I'm stupid.
- 1:04:50SPEAKER_01: Anyways.
- 1:04:51SPEAKER_01: Alright, bye, people.
