- 0:05Speaker 1: Now it's time to catch up with Country Weekly, where
- 0:08we check out news and gossip from the world of
- 0:10country music. As always, I'm your host, Ken Dawkins, and
- 0:15I will be reading from various sources found online. As
- 0:18a reminder, RADIOI is a reading service intended for people
- 0:21who are blind or have other disabilities that make it
- 0:24difficult to read printed material. We'll begin with the accident
- 0:28reports from People dot com Country both articles dated April fifteenth.
- 0:35First up, Thomas Rhett falls on his way to the
- 0:38stage for a performance and injures ankle. Feel Better, Thomas
- 0:44the Country Star. Thomas Rhett thirty five, made a surprise
- 0:46appearance during Forrest Frank's April thirteenth concert at the Bridgestone
- 0:51Arena in Nashville to perform their collaboration Nothing Else, and
- 0:55fell on his way to the stage, injuring his ankle
- 0:58in the process. Rhett opened up about the experience in
- 1:02an Instagram post shared on April fourteenth. The video opened
- 1:05with his wife, Lauren Akens pushing him in a wheel
- 1:07chair before cutting to the events leading up to his injury.
- 1:11During the show, Frank introduced his special guests for their
- 1:14Nothing Else performance before cutting to Thomas Rhett sitting in
- 1:17the crowd. He got up, began walking to the stage
- 1:20and took a fall after going down a short flight
- 1:23of stairs. The Half of Me singer limped to the
- 1:26stage and powered through the performance, noting he was in
- 1:28pain throughout every now and then. You just have to
- 1:32sing at a Forest Frank concert and break your ankle
- 1:34in the process, said Thomas Rhett. I gave my all
- 1:37for Tennessee to night. His wife then laughed as she
- 1:40wheeled her husband through the venue. People can confirm that
- 1:44Thomas Rhet's ankle was sprain following the performance, but not broken.
- 1:48Rhet's latest album, About a Woman, was released in August
- 1:51of twenty twenty four. Meanwhile, Kelsey Ballerini falls off moving
- 1:57stage platform while singing Friends in Low Places that tour
- 2:00finale in Toronto. Kelsey Ballerini's tour ended with a tumble.
- 2:06The country singer wrapped up her North American tour on
- 2:08April thirteenth at the Sosha Bank Arena in Toronto, Ontario,
- 2:13and took a fall off a moving stage platform while
- 2:15performing a cover of Garth Brooks's Friend in Low Place's
- 2:18in tribute to her crew. According to a video of
- 2:22the moment shared by Entertainment Tonight, Ballerini's touring staff came
- 2:25out on stage to celebrate the end of a successful
- 2:28tour as she sang Brooks nineteen ninety hit. The Grammy
- 2:32nominated star congregated in one area of the stage with
- 2:35some of her crew and continued walking around the stage,
- 2:38singing and dancing with everyone. But the section of the
- 2:41stage Ballerini stood on was actually a platform that started
- 2:45to rise as she danced away, causing her to fall. Ballerini, however,
- 2:50immediately resumed singing, struck a pose, and laughed off the
- 2:53moment in good spirits. The Cowboys Cry Too Artists twenty
- 2:57twenty five tour kicked off January twenty first and Grands Michigan,
- 3:01and included arena shows in Chicago, Nashville, Detroit, Philadelphia, Boston, Seattle,
- 3:06Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas, and more cities before
- 3:09the April thirteenth show in Toronto. The tour supported Ballerini's
- 3:14latest album, Patterns, released in October twenty twenty four. Last month,
- 3:18she shared a deluxe version of the record with five
- 3:20new songs. It's always been at the top of my
- 3:23bucket list to tour arenas, she recently told people in
- 3:27a cover story interview. Historically, there's not a lot of
- 3:30women in our genre that have made the jump to arenas,
- 3:32said Ballerini. I had to do it right because I
- 3:35couldn't fail, not just for myself, but because I want
- 3:37to contribute to the history of women in country music.
- 3:41Throughout the tour, she shared many sweet moments with fans.
- 3:44Earlier this month, the baggage musician helped one attendee announce
- 3:47her pregnancy and due date. Hello, my name is Kelsey Ballerini,
- 3:51she said in a TikTok video, and I'm here to
- 3:54tell you that Maddie's pregnant. At another show, she gave
- 3:57a heartfelt pep talk to a young boy who said
- 3:59he'd been for liking her music. That's not okay, Ballerini
- 4:03told him per TikTok. But you're okay. You're more than okay.
- 4:07Are you having a good time? That's all I care about. Now.
- 4:11We jump over to countrynow dot Com with the first
- 4:14article dated April eleventh. John Party infuses fresh energy into
- 4:18his signature sound on new honky Tonk Hollywood album. After
- 4:23nearly two and a half years, John Party is back
- 4:26with his highly anticipated new album, honky Tonk Hollywood, a
- 4:30record that marks a new chapter in his career and
- 4:32a fresh sound. Across the seventeen track collection, listeners will
- 4:36likely notice a shift in tone and storytelling that sets
- 4:40this record apart from his past releases. Since becoming a dad,
- 4:43the country star says he started leaning into a more
- 4:46mature image, which has resulted in him trading the drinking
- 4:49and party anthems for songs with more heart and self reflection. However,
- 4:53knowing how much fans love his late night bangers, he
- 4:56made sure to keep a few in the mix on
- 4:58his fifth studio album. I guess having kids and starting
- 5:01with the family and just finding songs that you can
- 5:04sing a little more and relate to a little more
- 5:06and feel a little more is what this album is about.
- 5:09It's just a different chapter of my life, he recently
- 5:11told Country Now and other outlets. In order to make
- 5:15this shift, Party enlisted Grammy Award winning producer Jay Joyce,
- 5:19along with a slew of Nashville writers to help bring
- 5:21his vision to life. This new album allowed the country
- 5:24superstar to step away from the traditional Nashville recording system
- 5:28without straying away from the hard work and ethic he's
- 5:30developed over the past decade. He spent around four weeks
- 5:34hunkered down in the studio building each track from the
- 5:36ground up, with his touring band taking the lead on
- 5:39most of the recording process. I just went from what
- 5:42I was taught from the ten years of making records
- 5:45and made one of my best records of my career,
- 5:47Party admitted. Just got to get in and get it done,
- 5:50get your hands dirty. That's nothing new to me. The
- 5:53final product is something that's a little bolder, a little grittier,
- 5:55and a whole lot more in your face than anything
- 5:57he's done before. Taking the rock and roll approach to
- 6:00this creative process has allowed him to take a step
- 6:03back from the more polished feel of his previous projects.
- 6:06They say, all our records are kind of in your face,
- 6:08but this one's really The vocals are just there, he said,
- 6:12And I think that's what they're going to hear on
- 6:13this record is a little more like damn, this is good.
- 6:16There's actually not much rock and roll on our album,
- 6:18but it's the way it was recorded delivered, and it
- 6:21sounds that it has a different tone that sets the
- 6:23example of honky Tonk Hollywood. Before diving into the studio,
- 6:27the singer songwriter assembled a team of writers in Nashville
- 6:30to share his vision with. He explained that his ultimate
- 6:34goal was to stay true to himself and the current
- 6:36chapter of life he's in, putting a fresh spin on
- 6:39his signature sound. I said, everything doesn't need to be
- 6:42a hit. Does it need to sound like Morgan Wallen.
- 6:45Most of the pitches we get are a lot geared
- 6:47towards the Morgan Wallen sound. I feel like we got
- 6:49a lot of great songs, and even just a little
- 6:51discussion in January, knowing that we're going in and recording
- 6:54with Jay Joyce changed the path of the record and
- 6:57what songs we got. It's like the word first year
- 7:00to release an album, because there's so much music coming out,
- 7:02he said. But I felt like honky Tonk Hollywood was
- 7:05going to stand out of all of these releases, and
- 7:08I'm proud of that and confident in it. Setting the
- 7:12tone for the mix of pure country storytelling and grungey
- 7:14grooves is the title track, honckey Tonk Hollywood, which is
- 7:17placed strategically in the center of the collection. The song
- 7:20honors both sides of Parties worlds, tipping his hat to
- 7:23his home state of California and celebrating the life he's
- 7:26built in Nashville. Moving to the very top is the
- 7:29Friday Night Fever, introducing track boots Off, followed by his
- 7:32current single, Friday Night Heartbreaker. Later on, he crosses the
- 7:36line to tender storytelling with his tribute to hard working
- 7:39fathers on he went to Work and elevates the heart
- 7:42rate with the steamy love of the Lights Out and
- 7:44wallas in Misery from a barstool with Barroom Blue. Bringing
- 7:49things full circle with his initial goal of staying true
- 7:51to himself, Party celebrates the creative independence of this entire
- 7:54project with the final track kind of want to Keep
- 7:57it that Way, offering a grungey set of instrumental in
- 8:00a message that sums up where the country sensation is.
- 8:03The tune gives listeners a sense of what's to come
- 8:06in his next record. I think it's just staying true
- 8:09to yourself and being who you are. It just really
- 8:12delivered that stamp of or for me, it's like doing
- 8:14you and don't be afraid of doing something different. And
- 8:17that's why it's the last song, and it's just so
- 8:19grooving and cool and fresh. It also sets the tone
- 8:22for the next record too, What's to Come What's After
- 8:25the seventeenth track, John Party has lived with this album
- 8:29since last July, meaning he is more than eager to
- 8:31finally get to bring these songs to the stage, and
- 8:34he will do so with the launch of his Honky
- 8:36Tonk Hollywood tour. And speaking of Morgan Wallan, more news
- 8:41from MW as he launches the Shop Sessions with acoustic
- 8:45rendition of just in Case. Morgan Wallan is keeping a
- 8:49fan favorite tradition alive with the announcement of the Shop Sessions,
- 8:53a new series offering acoustic versions of tracks from his
- 8:56upcoming I'm the Problem album. First up as an unplugged
- 8:59rendition just in Case, recorded with his band inside an
- 9:03old auto shop. The session strips the song down to
- 9:06its emotional, slow burning storyline, capturing the turmoil of moving on.
- 9:11Found a badass old auto shop and recorded some songs
- 9:14from the new album with my band. The first one,
- 9:16justin Case, is out now, he wrote on a new
- 9:19video on Instagram. Willin's signature vocals are front and centers.
- 9:23He tells the story of someone stuck between holding on
- 9:25and letting go. The character at hand finds himself hesitating
- 9:29to fall for someone new because he's quietly hoping his
- 9:32ex will come back around. Walin sings, I never let
- 9:36my heart go all the way. Every time I try,
- 9:38I just hit the brakes. And there's always a couple
- 9:40trying to take your place. But I never fall in
- 9:43love baby. Just in Case co written by Wallin, John Byron,
- 9:46Jacob Casher, Hinlund, Ryan Vosscheck, Jason Thompson, Blake Pendergrass, and
- 9:50Alex Back. Justin Case had showcases layer to the East
- 9:54Tennessee natives, vulnerable and reflective side that appears to be
- 9:58coming out stronger than ever on his own upcoming album.
- 10:01This isn't the first time Wallan has put a fresh
- 10:03spin on album tracks in a stripped back setting. He
- 10:06also previously released acoustic versions of his twenty twenty one
- 10:09project Dangerous, the double album with the Dangerous Sessions, as
- 10:13well as One Record at a Time Sessions, which included
- 10:15stripped down versions of songs from his latest album, One
- 10:18Thing at a Time. In the Shop Sessions, the Smile
- 10:22singer strips down everything, letting his raw vocals and songwriting
- 10:25take center stage. Without the distraction of heavy production. Wallin's
- 10:30I'm the Problem album, set to arrive May sixteenth, with
- 10:33thirty seven tracks to find him digging deeper into his
- 10:36personal emotions and experiences than ever before. The full track
- 10:41list has yet to be revealed, However, fans got a
- 10:44sneak peek when he teased several of the unreleased titles
- 10:46during his guest appearance. As we mentioned earlier on NVC's
- 10:50Saturday Night Live. Next, Jelly Roll reveals he's lost nearly
- 10:55two hundred pounds set sights on skydiving adventure with wife Bunny.
- 11:01Jelly Rowl has been putting in the work on his
- 11:03health journey, and the results just keep rolling in. Nearly
- 11:07five months after first announcing that he'd lost one hundred
- 11:10and twenty pounds, the country star has shared another exciting update,
- 11:13revealing that he's now down nearly two hundred. He opened
- 11:17up about his latest milestone during an appearance on Wednesday
- 11:19night's PPG Paints Arena show Pat McAfee's Big Night Out.
- 11:24I started at five hundred and forty pounds and I
- 11:26was three fifty seven this morning at the Antioch, Tennessee
- 11:30native told the former NFL player. I'm going to lose
- 11:32another one hundred pounds and go skydiving with my wife
- 11:35in Sweden. Baby. With each pound that jelly Roll loses,
- 11:39he's discovering just how many new things in life he's
- 11:41now able to do, such as skydiving in Sweden, snowmobiling,
- 11:46and hiking in the mountains of Arizona. I hiked him
- 11:49Mountain the other day, Camelback the hitmaker told E News
- 11:52in February, there is no way that would have been
- 11:55possible beforehand, so it's great to see that progress and
- 11:58we're still going. Jelly Roll began his extensive weightless journey
- 12:02at about five hundred pounds and really hit the ground
- 12:04running during his twenty twenty four trek the Beautifully Broken Tour.
- 12:09Throughout this run, he started to make some major lifestyle changes,
- 12:12guided by his personal chef and nutrition coach Ian Larios,
- 12:16that led him to losing over one hundred pounds by
- 12:19October of last year. Jelly Roll is proud of the
- 12:22progress he's made, but he's far from finished. Alongside his
- 12:25weight loss journey, he's been giving fans a closer look
- 12:28at his daily routine, from ice bath challenges to what
- 12:31I Eat in a day videos. In a recent social
- 12:34media post, he also revealed he's now training for his
- 12:36second five K. Of everything I've been through in my
- 12:40life and career, he all, the biggest change I've ever
- 12:42made is happening right now. I'm right in the middle
- 12:45of it, he says, as the clip of sweat dripped
- 12:47off his face. A huge reason the Liar singer has
- 12:50been able to stay so motivated this entire time is
- 12:53because of the incredible support system around him and his
- 12:56fellow underdogs who looked to him as a mentor. Biggest
- 13:00and loudest cheerleader has always been his wife Bunny XO,
- 13:03who will take any opportunity to hype up her man.
- 13:06The things that motivate me and keep me going are
- 13:09the people I've met along the way across the juveniles
- 13:11and rehab centers or prisons, he shared. The people that
- 13:14come up to me and bravely share their sobriety date
- 13:17or a story of something that they've dealt with or
- 13:19something they've lost. The genre bending artist is currently appearing
- 13:23on ABC every Sunday as American Idol's first ever Artist
- 13:26in Residence. The role allows him to work closely with
- 13:29the contestants all season long, offering them advice and guidance
- 13:33as they navigate the journey. Additionally, he's gearing up to
- 13:36join Post Malone on the Big Ass Stadium Tour and
- 13:39make his way throughout Canada this spring and down the road.
- 13:43I hope to have some news. I have a family
- 13:45member who's working on a business venture with Chilli Roll.
- 13:48Next we could all be to part in from Parton.
- 13:52Petitioned to rename Nashville Airport after Dolly Parton gains major
- 13:56momentum hits fifty thousand signatures. The push to rename Nashville's
- 14:02airport in honor of Dolly Partner is gaining serious momentum.
- 14:05Since the petition opened in January, it is racked up
- 14:08an impress of fifty thousand signatures and counting. If successful,
- 14:12Nashville International Airport could soon be known as Dolly Parton
- 14:15International Airport, celebrating the Queen of Country's lasting impact on
- 14:19the city. As proud citizens of Tennessee, we are motivated
- 14:23by our deep rooted admiration for the national treasure and
- 14:26Tennessee legend, Dolly Parton. She is not only a celebrated artist,
- 14:30who encourages love, acceptance, and good wealth through her music,
- 14:34but also a philanthropist known for her countless contributions to society,
- 14:38and that's what the petition reads. The description goes on
- 14:41to further explain why honoring Parton in this way would
- 14:44be a perfect tribute for the city of Nashville. It
- 14:47is only fitting that an institution as significant as Nashville
- 14:50International Airport carries the name of such a remarkable woman.
- 14:54Dolly has made substantial impacts on thousands of lives, especially
- 14:57through her Imagination Library program, which has gifted over one
- 15:01hundred million books to children since it began it in
- 15:03nineteen ninety five. Dolly's philanthropic efforts, her outstanding influence in
- 15:08the music industry, and the love she has instilled in
- 15:11our hearts through her actions and songs truly makes her
- 15:14a deserving candidate to have the Nashville International Airport named
- 15:17after her. We request that the airport's name be changed
- 15:20to Dolly Parton International Airport to honor an icon who
- 15:23has given so much to our state and to the world.
- 15:26Signed the petition to make this change of reality, we
- 15:29could all be departinged from Parton this effort was launched
- 15:32on a change dot org by users named Lydia Popovitch
- 15:36and Dan Dion shortly after Tennessee lawmakers proposed to build
- 15:39a renamed BNA after President Donald Trump. The latest update
- 15:44from the pair of users came on April third, encouraging
- 15:47the public to continue to aid and moving the campaign forward.
- 15:51They also explained that in order to do so, there
- 15:53were a few people that need to get on board,
- 15:55including Representative Todd Warner of Tennessee State Legislator, who has
- 15:59supposedly show own support for the renaming of the airport.
- 16:02The second important decision maker to involve is Douglas Kruhlan,
- 16:06CEO of the Metropolitan National Airport Authority, who is, in
- 16:10a way it is the most valuable voice in the situation,
- 16:13as he oversees the airport and would be in charge
- 16:16of approving a name change. The more public support they see,
- 16:19the harder it will be to ignore this movement. We've
- 16:21already hit forty five thousand signatures. Let's keep the momentum going.
- 16:25Lydia and Dan Road in conclusion. Meanwhile, new Dolly Parton
- 16:29exhibit to open in Country Music Hall of Fame in museum.
- 16:33There is no doubt that Dolly Parton's music and philanthropy
- 16:36have made a lasting impact on both the genre of
- 16:39country music and the city of Nashville. The community is
- 16:42in constantly finding new ways to celebrate her efforts, with
- 16:46the latest being a new exhibition in the Country Music
- 16:48Hall of Fame and Museum. From May twentieth of this
- 16:52year until September twenty twenty six, Dolly parton Journey of
- 16:56a Seeker will be on display, highlighting key moments from
- 16:58Parton's remarkable sixty plus year career, including how she overcame
- 17:03challenges and proved her critics wrong by becoming one of
- 17:06the most adored and recognizable figures worldwide. The exhibit will
- 17:10include various pieces of iconic outfits, awards, handwritten lyrics to
- 17:14classic hits like Jolene, signature instruments, photographs, exclusive interview footage,
- 17:18and more. Being inducted into its Country Music Hall of
- 17:22Fame was one of the greatest moments of my life,
- 17:24and being able to have a personal exhibit for the
- 17:26fans that put me there is a very big deal
- 17:28to me. Parton said, this Seeker is very proud and
- 17:32honor and I hope you enjoy my journey. I will
- 17:34always love you. After accomplishing enough for three lifetimes, Parton
- 17:38continues to astound and amaze us with her boundless talent,
- 17:41a vivacious wit, and her tremendous generosity, said Kyle Young,
- 17:45chief executive Officer of the Country Music Hall of Fame
- 17:48and Museum. Like all great arts, Pardon has demonstrated consistently
- 17:53that she can transform adversity and setbacks into works of
- 17:56stunning beauty and insight into the human condition. The Dolly
- 18:00Parton Journey of a Seeker exhibit is available to view
- 18:03with the purchase of a museum admission. Since there are
- 18:06limited time tickets available each day, it's recommended to make
- 18:09reservations in advance. Ticket availability can be found on the
- 18:13museum's website. Now it's on to saving country music. With
- 18:19the first article dated April thirteenth, Garth Brooks hit songwriter
- 18:24Larry Bastin has passed away. If one looks down the
- 18:28list of music's greatest writers of all time, I couldn't
- 18:32imagine the lists being complete without the name of Larry Bastin.
- 18:36This isn't faint praise from Garth Brooks, and it's hard
- 18:39to refute when you look at the resume of Larry
- 18:41Bastien and especially how important it was to the early
- 18:44and continued success of Garth's career. Bashan contributed to the
- 18:48catalogs of many greats, but it was really his relationship
- 18:51with Garth Brooks where he would cement his legacy in
- 18:54country music. On Garth's debut self titled album from nineteen
- 18:58eighty nine, Larry Bastin co wrote I've got a good thing,
- 19:02Cowboy Bill and nobody gets off in this town. But
- 19:05it was Garth's album No Fences from nineteen ninety where
- 19:08Bashan made arguably his greatest contribution, co writing Unanswered Prayers
- 19:13with Pat Alger and Garth himself, a song that would
- 19:15go to number one and become one of Garth's signature tracks.
- 19:19That same success, Unanswered Prayers found would befall the Garth's
- 19:24song Rodeo that Larry Bashan wrote by himself and became
- 19:27one of the big singles from Garth's third album, Ropened
- 19:30the Wind from nineteen ninety one. Just those two songs
- 19:34probably put Baston in a pantheon of songwriters to the elite,
- 19:38even if no songwriting halls of Fame ever recognized him.
- 19:41One of the reasons Larry Bashan never received the recognition
- 19:44he probably deserved, as he wasn't a creature of Nashville.
- 19:47He was a guy from the country in rural California,
- 19:50where he was born and raised and worked for the
- 19:52Department of Agriculture as a biologist in the San Joaquin Valley.
- 19:57It's not hard to imagine that in any circumstances, Larry
- 19:59bashe and was influenced by country music. Out of high school.
- 20:02He worked on farms and was a cowboy and wrote
- 20:05songs when he could while opening and conversing with touring
- 20:08country artists that would eventually come through town, like Buck Owens.
- 20:13That came to no Bastian and compelled him to send
- 20:15his songs to Nashville. Eventually he did, and he started
- 20:18to find success. Janie Frickey was the first to record
- 20:22Bastian's This Ain't Tennessee and he Ain't You in nineteen eighty,
- 20:26but multiple other artists would follow suit. Bastian's first Top
- 20:29forty success was with Sammy Smith's recording of Sometimes I
- 20:33Cry Alone in nineteen eighty one. He also wrote the
- 20:36Lefty Frazell tribute Lefty from David Frizell, and Merle Haggard.
- 20:41Throughout his career, Bashan would also write for Willie Nelson,
- 20:44Verne Gosden, George Jones, Reba McIntyre, buck Owens, Tracy byrd
- 20:48Tammy Whynett, and many more, but his success was always
- 20:51rather moderate until Garth Brooks came along in the early nineties.
- 20:55After Unanswered Prayers, the hit Sammy Kershawt took notice and
- 20:59recorded a couple of top twenty hits by Bastian, namely
- 21:02nineteen ninety two Yard Sale and nineteen ninety seven's If
- 21:06You're Gonna Walk, I'm Gonna Crawl. The whole time, Larry
- 21:09Bashan remained living in the San Joaquin Valley. That's where
- 21:12he died in Porterville on Sunday, April sixth. He was
- 21:15ninety years old. Porterville is where Bashton graduated from high
- 21:19school in nineteen fifty two, and when asked why he
- 21:21never left for Nashville, he'd say because he didn't want
- 21:24to write like all the other people in Nashville. He
- 21:26wanted to remain connected to the country. Next, Stergil Simpson
- 21:32performs You Can Have the Crown for the first time
- 21:35in nine years. Stergil Simpson was the Sunday night headliner
- 21:40of the Two Step In Festival in Georgetown, Texas, on
- 21:43April sixth, performing for ninety minutes in front of about
- 21:46twenty thousand people. But apparently Sturgil didn't get his fill
- 21:49and neither did some fans. Since he's been playing these
- 21:52epic three and four hour sets and folks in Georgetown,
- 21:55just north of Austin, only got a taste, he decided
- 21:57to post up at the twenty five hundred capacity to
- 22:00these stubs in downtown Austin the next day to play
- 22:03an epic nearly four hours set. Simpson announced the surprise
- 22:07show on the big screens of the two Step In
- 22:09Festival right before he took the stage, and then made
- 22:12reference to it again during the set itself. Tickets went
- 22:15on sale that Monday morning at ten am and sold
- 22:17out immediately. A few walk up tickets were also made available,
- 22:20but were snarfed up quickly as well. For Stergil Simpson,
- 22:24performing at Stubbs was returning to the scene of the
- 22:26crime at Austin. Well, all right, we've been waiting like
- 22:29ten or eleven years to do this again, Simpson said
- 22:31as he walked out on stage. This city has always
- 22:34been very, very good to us, and we just wanted
- 22:36to stick around and say thank you and play one
- 22:38more show for you guys. Stgil played Stubbs almost ten
- 22:42years to the day on April second, twenty fifteen, as
- 22:45his popularity was exploding amid the release of his twenty
- 22:48fourteen album Meta Modern Sounds in Country Music. He also
- 22:52played in Austin at the Rattle Inn on December twenty second,
- 22:55twenty twelve. This was the notorious show where only some
- 22:59nine people were in attendance that Stergil had referenced on
- 23:02stage multiple times in his career. That Rattle inshow is
- 23:06set up by Mike Hermier of Silverada than Mike and
- 23:08the Moonpies as a favorite Simpson. Simpson also played his
- 23:14last official show with his first band, Sunday Valley, or
- 23:16perhaps his first show is Stergel Simpson at the Austin
- 23:19Moose Lodge on March seventeenth, twenty twelve, as part of
- 23:23South By Southwest Now. Simpson returned to Austin as a
- 23:28growing legend in American music. To mark the occasion, we'll
- 23:31play something we haven't played in about nine years or so,
- 23:33Simpson said before launching into a fan favorite, You Can
- 23:36Have the Crown and one of the favorites from his
- 23:38stubs set ten years prior. Though getting into stubbs for
- 23:42Sergil's Monday Show is hard. It was streamed on nugs
- 23:45dot Net. He also now made a full video available
- 23:49of You Can Have the Crown. Now we move on
- 23:52over to Holler dot country dot com with the first
- 23:54article dated Daypril fifteenth. Dirk Spentley will return with his
- 23:59eleventh studio album, Broken Branches on June thirteenth. This will
- 24:04be marking the Drunk on a Plane hit maker's first
- 24:07solo record since twenty twenty three's Gravel and Gold. The
- 24:11highly anticipated project will feature collaborations with a host of
- 24:14big name acts, including Riley Green, Miranda Lambert, John Anderson,
- 24:18and Stephen Stephen Wilson Junior. The latter appears on the
- 24:22already released Cold Beer Can, while Riley Green and John
- 24:25Anderson joined Dirk S Bentley for the title track. Miranda
- 24:28Lambert teams up with Bentley for Never You, which is
- 24:31expected to arrive with a full project on June thirteenth.
- 24:35Speaking ahead of the album announcement, Dirk Spentley has explained
- 24:38what inspired him to celebrate life's imperfections through his next chapter.
- 24:42The country music community has a lot broken branches in it.
- 24:45That's why we're all here. We want to do something
- 24:47a little bit different, and I think everyone sees themselves
- 24:50like that, certainly in country. This is the people's music
- 24:53and it represents that spirit of individuality. So well, it's
- 24:57just about doing it our own way. The Beer's on
- 25:00Me chart topper reflected on the creative process behind this
- 25:03new project. I think that's what specials about country. We're
- 25:06may still making music in the studio with our buddies.
- 25:09We're still getting together and talking about the songs and
- 25:11letting the musicians have a big say. It's a good team.
- 25:14Maybe a little messed up, but that's the whole idea
- 25:16behind Broken Branches, So it just works. Featuring contributions from
- 25:22Dirk Spentley's longtime friends and collaborators such as Charlie Worsham,
- 25:26as well as Jed Hughes, Rob McNelly and Brian Sutton,
- 25:30Broken Branches will include the much loved lead single she
- 25:33Hates Me. Next, Megan Maroney tackles massive post show merch
- 25:38signing mission in Knoxville, question how much merch is too
- 25:43much to sign after a show merches the new slang
- 25:45for merchandise. Answer, not five thousand people's were. At least
- 25:50that's how Megan Maroney saught after her second show in
- 25:52Knoxville on Saturday. We just finished the show in Knoxville,
- 25:55night two, and they were so loud. I have a
- 25:57mount margarita in my cup and a week off start
- 26:00ar now, so I'm going to do is go inside
- 26:02and sign every piece of merch until I run out
- 26:04of people. How many people were there tonight, she asks
- 26:08her crew after she's decided on the endeavor. Five thousand.
- 26:12It seems like a pretty simple task. We'll see how
- 26:14it goes. In her hot girl hooves and Megan Maroney
- 26:17Camo shirt, the I'm Not Pretty singer stayed at the
- 26:19merch table until every last piece that had been bought
- 26:23was signed. Crowds of blue, orange and camo. The Marony Rainbow,
- 26:27if there ever was one, queued down the stairway, out
- 26:30of the doors and along the street, waiting patiently for
- 26:32the Georgia Girl's signature. We're taking a thirty second margarita break,
- 26:36she says to the camera before enjoying a giant gulp
- 26:38out of her thermos. There were hugs, tears, and squeals
- 26:42of joys and excitement as Maroney made her way through
- 26:44the thousands and thousands of posters, shirts, and astronaut helmets,
- 26:48not to mention the plasters required for blisters on her hands.
- 26:52Be safe getting home, she shouted to the final two
- 26:55girls that waited for Maroney moment before she lay across
- 26:58her table, exhausted performing two sold out shows and staying
- 27:01all night to sign every single piece of merchandise. Megan
- 27:04Maroney really is giving everything she's got to her fans.
- 27:08Marony is deep into her m i OK twenty twenty
- 27:11five tour, with the singer headed back out on the
- 27:13road on April twenty fourth, and Fisher's Indiana now over
- 27:17to the boot dot Com with the final article date
- 27:20on April sixteenth. George Strait rolls up to Dairy Queen
- 27:24drive through window and leaves worker with a smile and
- 27:27a selfie. George Strait's go to fast food order, Well,
- 27:31it's a hearty Dairy Queen Burger, according to one lucky
- 27:33d Q worker who served him over the weekend. Becky
- 27:37Gonzalez was on duty at the DQ in Cotula, Texas,
- 27:40that Saturday afternoon when a familiar face pulled up to
- 27:43retrieve his order. It was about twelve forty pm and
- 27:46Straight was there for lunch. He ordered a Hunger Buster
- 27:48per Mysa in San Antonio. This is a grilled quarter
- 27:52pounder beef patty and he got his topped with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles,
- 27:56and mustard. My co worker was at the drive through
- 27:59and said, that's George Straight, Gonzales recalls in a comment
- 28:01on TikTok. I wanted to ask him to sing a
- 28:04little piece of his song, but I didn't. He pulled
- 28:07up in a black truck and was wearing a tropical
- 28:09themed baseball cap and sunglasses. But it's hard to disguise
- 28:12yourself when you're the most recognizable man in Texas. Gonzalez
- 28:15says he was kind and so handsome she gave him
- 28:18his order in exchange, she was happy to pose for
- 28:20a selfie through the drive through window. She jokes in
- 28:23the comments that she was tempted to jump through the
- 28:25window for a hug, but that she didn't want to
- 28:27scare him away. Well. This concludes the reading of Country
