Austin Crime Drops But Trends Are Mixed | Texas News
Austin’s violent crime is trending down this year, with drops in homicide, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault — continuing a multi-year pattern. But the decline isn’t as steep as in Dallas, Houston, or San Antonio, especially when it comes to aggravated assaults. Homicides are back to mid-2024 levels, while rapes remain higher than they were then. Over the past decade, Austin saw sharper increases in rape, assault, and homicide compared to most Texas cities — and robberies declined the slowest here. APD has been contacted for comment.
