- Sean Graver: Do you see it? The shortcut. It's right there. It would save time. Nobody would know the difference. And honestly, the full version might not even matter in the end. You're thinking about taking it. But before you do, let's take a minute. Let's look at scripture and then pray. So Proverbs 21:2 reads A person may think their own ways are right, but the Lord weighs the heart. It's a short verse with a long reach to it. Now, we are remarkably good at justifying our own choices, especially the small ones. You know, the little compromise, the slightly inflated number, cutting corners quietly. We have a story for each one that makes it reasonable. But the Lord weighs the heart, not the justification, the actual motivation underneath it. The temptation to cut corners at work is so common it barely registers as a moral question most of the time. It just feels like being practical, maybe even efficient, and and realistic about what the situation actually requires. But here's what corner cutting does over time. It erodes your own standard without you noticing. I mean, the first time you do it, there's friction, and the second time, a little less. By the tenth time It's just how you work. And somewhere in the process, the version of yourself that did things with full integrity became someone else. Now nobody else may ever know, but you know. And the Lord weighs the heart, which means the question isn't just what you produced, but who you became in the producing of it. The full version of the work, the honest number, the complete effort. The thing done the right way, even when the shortcut was available, that's not just about the outcome. It's about the kind of person you're deciding to be today. So let's pray. God, I want to do the full version of the work today, not the corner cutting version or the just good enough version, but the whole thing done with ⁓ integrity. Were I'm tempted to take the shortcut today? Would you catch me and Remind me that you weigh the heart and that my justifications don't hold up under that kind of scrutiny. Help me care more about who I'm becoming than about how much time I save. Help me do the work that I would be proud to show you, not just the work that gets by. So weigh my heart today and find something worth keeping. In Jesus' name, amen. Go make today count.
