- 0:00Speaker 1: The Force will be with you always.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Hello everyone, and welcome back to another episode of Star
- 0:23Speaker 2: Wars Lines, your home key Cult Lance podcast network for
- 0:26Speaker 2: any and all things Star Wars. I'm your host, as
- 0:29Speaker 2: per the usual, Katie, and with me, as per the usual,
- 0:34Speaker 2: it's Clay. I just want you guys to know that
- 0:38Speaker 2: Clay and I have had a very rough two weeks.
- 0:42Speaker 3: Yes, yes we have. Let's go ahead and start off
- 0:47Speaker 3: with the with with the I guess good slash bad
- 0:52Speaker 3: news for me. I'm not dead, you know. I went
- 0:58Speaker 3: to the hospital on day and it threw off my
- 1:04Speaker 3: entire schedule for this week. I very much hate the inconvenience.
- 1:11Speaker 3: I just want to say hi to Kyle in the
- 1:15Speaker 3: chat here on YouTube. Guys, if you are listening post live,
- 1:19Speaker 3: remember we are always live on YouTube Wednesdays at seven
- 1:23Speaker 3: pm Eastern Standard time. Just want to say hi to
- 1:25Speaker 3: Kyle here in the chat. But yeah, I went. I
- 1:29Speaker 3: went to the hospital because of chest pains and for
- 1:34Speaker 3: me it was just like, oh, my chest hurts a
- 1:37Speaker 3: little bit and it like it's kind of uncomfortable. Told
- 1:41Speaker 3: my doctor referenced me to a nurse. Nurse immediately after
- 1:45Speaker 3: we I was done answering like twenty billion questions. She
- 1:48Speaker 3: was like, hey, go to the er and don't drive yourself.
- 1:52Speaker 3: I was like, uh, okay, went to the er. Before
- 1:56Speaker 3: I could even turn around to tell Abby, like, hey,
- 1:59Speaker 3: at my be very quick, they already had the thing
- 2:03Speaker 3: taped to my wrist and they were dragging me into
- 2:06Speaker 3: the back of the hospital. I tried not to freak out.
- 2:10Speaker 3: I freaked out a little bit because in my head,
- 2:12Speaker 3: I'm just like, it's just a little chest pain, it's
- 2:14Speaker 3: nothing serious. Ripped off my shirt. It's freaking tagging me
- 2:19Speaker 3: with all of these wires. Blood freaking drawing blood. I
- 2:23Speaker 3: think they did like seven vials, and they're like okay,
- 2:28Speaker 3: and now we wait. And I sat there for two
- 2:30Speaker 3: and a half hours, and that two and a half
- 2:33Speaker 3: hours felt like a lifetime because I didn't I wasn't prepared.
- 2:37Speaker 3: I didn't bring a book which we were supposed to
- 2:41Speaker 3: review today. Sorry, guys, it threw us off with that.
- 2:46Speaker 3: I like, I was just so frustrated after that, and everybody,
- 2:53Speaker 3: like everybody who messaged me like are you okay? Are
- 2:55Speaker 3: you okay? I'm like, yeah, I wasted two and a
- 2:58Speaker 3: half hours the hospital and the like, and they're like, oh,
- 3:01Speaker 3: but at least you're alive, Clay. It's nothing serious. And
- 3:05Speaker 3: I'm over here like I lost two and a half
- 3:07Speaker 3: hours that I will never get back again.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Yeah, but they're like, I've basically learned they're always going
- 3:14Speaker 2: to tell you to go to the er for chest pains.
- 3:17Speaker 3: For and I told I was like, I shouldn't have
- 3:22Speaker 3: just said. I shouldn't have said anything. She's like, no,
- 3:26Speaker 3: You're supposed to say something because it could be worse.
- 3:28Speaker 3: It could have been something. I was like, but it could.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Be that's what you learn. But y'all, I had car
- 3:34Speaker 2: trouble last week, which is why we didn't have an
- 3:36Speaker 2: episode last week, so I do apologize about that. But
- 3:40Speaker 2: when your tire pops in the middle of the interstate,
- 3:43Speaker 2: uh and you'r PPD in Ppa, like shit gets real
- 3:51Speaker 2: and yeah, and then Monday we found a leak that
- 3:55Speaker 2: hadn't caused too much damage, so I got thrown off too,
- 3:59Speaker 2: though I did get book finished. But life just sucks sometimes,
- 4:05Speaker 2: and I've got a four month old who is apparently
- 4:08Speaker 2: teething and trying to learn to roll over.
- 4:11Speaker 3: So oh, those were fun dating. I will say this
- 4:20Speaker 3: ice with a T shirt or a towel, like a
- 4:24Speaker 3: small towel. That's the easiest thing to start off with.
- 4:29Speaker 3: And then of course you have like the different like
- 4:31Speaker 3: teething toys that people still to this day are like,
- 4:34Speaker 3: don't do that, You're gonna ruin their ta I'm like,
- 4:38Speaker 3: she's she's gonna ruin my ears from crying so much.
- 4:42Speaker 3: I gotta do something. So we were recommended by some
- 4:46Speaker 3: of our friends with the whole thing about the ice
- 4:51Speaker 3: and the and the T shirt because we were I
- 4:52Speaker 3: think it was New Year's weekend and we didn't want
- 4:57Speaker 3: to spend time with family. So we we're literally staying
- 5:01Speaker 3: at a hotel. Uh yeah, and had no resources except for, hey,
- 5:06Speaker 3: let's go to the grocery store and buy some ice.
- 5:09Speaker 3: That's it.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Yeah, we will see what happens. But yeah, rough two weeks.
- 5:18Speaker 2: So yeah, let's dive into this. So if you see
- 5:23Speaker 2: in the title we're going to be talking about act
- 5:25Speaker 2: like cancelation reactions, I am more talking about the internet's reaction.
- 5:31Speaker 2: I should have probably been a little more specific, but again,
- 5:33Speaker 2: the postpartum brain just kind of gets you sometimes. We
- 5:38Speaker 2: reacted last week. In last week's episode, we are both
- 5:42Speaker 2: incredibly disappointed. It was an incredible show, But we're gonna
- 5:47Speaker 2: talk about the forty plus articles that have been made
- 5:52Speaker 2: calling out Disney for their bullshit. Amandla's reaction, Manny's reaction,
- 5:59Speaker 2: Oh mine yard, you know, like, we gotta talk about this.
- 6:03Speaker 2: So where do we want to start off?
- 6:07Speaker 3: That is a good question. I think, you know, I uh,
- 6:13Speaker 3: I'm not gonna toot my own horn, but I think
- 6:15Speaker 3: I made a very fun thumbnail for this episode showing
- 6:22Speaker 3: off all of the UH headlines when we were seeing
- 6:27Speaker 3: these reactions. I believe it was what was Variety's It
- 6:35Speaker 3: was was it Variety who had the UH?
- 6:43Speaker 2: Because there I think it was that it's cancelation doesn't
- 6:46Speaker 2: bode well for the future of Star Wars.
- 6:49Speaker 3: That one, because that one calls out more than just Disney.
- 6:56Speaker 3: It calls out the people that were legitimately to blame
- 7:01Speaker 3: for this cancelation. And I will still hold that to
- 7:05Speaker 3: be true.
- 7:06Speaker 2: And you can say, and just kind of skipping ahead
- 7:08Speaker 2: a little bit, you can say that it wasn't necessarily
- 7:13Speaker 2: to blame. But in Amandla's reaction, which was very calm
- 7:18Speaker 2: and maintainable. By the way, I watched her whole entire story,
- 7:23Speaker 2: and she's very calm about it. She was very reasonable.
- 7:26Speaker 2: She didn't like say anything specific, but the way she goes, yeah,
- 7:31Speaker 2: I knew that was going to get canceled, like and
- 7:35Speaker 2: called out the people for the racism and like sexism
- 7:39Speaker 2: and unwillingness to grow speaks volumes. I think like so, yeah,
- 7:49Speaker 2: most of the forty plus articles called out, hey, this
- 7:54Speaker 2: doesn't look good because this was a legitimately good show
- 7:57Speaker 2: that just needed time to grow. But also you cater
- 8:02Speaker 2: to these fans, insult your cast and crew, and nobody's
- 8:07Speaker 2: gonna want to join Star Wars. Tom. We've said it before.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Tom has already stated authors don't want to come write
- 8:13Speaker 2: Star Wars books because they don't want to deal with
- 8:16Speaker 2: the reactions from people.
- 8:19Speaker 3: That sucks.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Kyle says, the cancelation sucks for people like me. I
- 8:26Speaker 2: haven't gotten the chance to see it yet, and now
- 8:27Speaker 2: I don't even want to because I know it won't
- 8:29Speaker 2: matter anymore. Sadly, I would say that if you can
- 8:33Speaker 2: get right now, I think that shows a lot to
- 8:38Speaker 2: Disney like that.
- 8:39Speaker 3: Hey, Like, there's this conversation that we had the last
- 8:45Speaker 3: time we were on, which was two weeks ago. Again,
- 8:47Speaker 3: we said we are sorry, but we were having the
- 8:51Speaker 3: discussion with Adrian is it worth the hashtag save Accolyte,
- 9:01Speaker 3: hashtag renew the Accolyte campaigns, all of that, you know,
- 9:07Speaker 3: the stuff that saved Young Justice and Zack Snyder's Justice League.
- 9:11Speaker 3: We have to remember it's happened more than once, not
- 9:14Speaker 3: just with DC properties. I was gonna say Lucifer, but
- 9:18Speaker 3: that's technically DC property, but it's happened with so many
- 9:23Speaker 3: other things. I didn't think it was worth it because
- 9:28Speaker 3: in my mind and with my personal experience, I was tired.
- 9:35Speaker 3: After Zack Snyder's Justice League. It was like, Okay, I
- 9:40Speaker 3: got it. I'm so glad I don't have to do
- 9:42Speaker 3: that again. Boom Disney slashed me in the face, like
- 9:46Speaker 3: I I I can't do it. And that's me personally.
- 9:50Speaker 3: Now from the reactions that we are seeing and again
- 9:54Speaker 3: we're moving ahead a little bit, but we've heard from
- 10:00Speaker 3: a cast member that says, hey, my mission right now
- 10:04Speaker 3: season two. So maybe it is worth it. Yeah, And
- 10:11Speaker 3: if it catches, you know, some some steam and it
- 10:16Speaker 3: looks like hey, this could possibly happen, Hey, I'm all
- 10:20Speaker 3: for it. Let's go. But right now it's really hard
- 10:24Speaker 3: for me to be like yeah, let's do this like
- 10:28Speaker 3: it's it's it's really hard for me.
- 10:31Speaker 2: I've already seen a lot because most of the things
- 10:35Speaker 2: that I'm involved in on Twitter and social media nowadays
- 10:39Speaker 2: are Star Wars related. And I've seen like people being
- 10:45Speaker 2: a lot nicer, like it's not like give me Zach
- 10:48Speaker 2: Snood or Justice League or I will do incredibly bad
- 10:51Speaker 2: things to my DC collection. Now people are still very reasonable, like, hey,
- 10:56Speaker 2: I saw myself in Star Wars the Accolte, like can
- 10:58Speaker 2: we please bring it back? Like something along the lines.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Greg said, Internet reactions are always a mixed bag of crazy.
- 11:06Speaker 2: I personally didn't like the show, but I don't think
- 11:08Speaker 2: it means the Star Wars franchise is doomed. Like I
- 11:16Speaker 2: think I see what you're saying, Greg. I think a
- 11:19Speaker 2: lot of people are like, the Star Wars franchise is
- 11:22Speaker 2: never going to grow because despite and we talked about
- 11:26Speaker 2: this two weeks ago, but you have to be able
- 11:29Speaker 2: to grow with your audience. And yes, Star Wars has
- 11:32Speaker 2: always been meant for kids, and the kids like something
- 11:35Speaker 2: else nowadays, like the fam boys of the seventies, not
- 11:40Speaker 2: the current target demographic.
- 11:43Speaker 3: Yeah, and I can tell you right now watching my
- 11:47Speaker 3: daughter watch different shows. Tells me that she's gonna have
- 11:53Speaker 3: a wide variety of tastes when it comes to the
- 11:56Speaker 3: things that she is consuming. Kids. That tells me that
- 12:02Speaker 3: if she's one years old and can tell me, no,
- 12:04Speaker 3: I don't want to watch this, Oh I want to
- 12:06Speaker 3: watch that. Okay, after that, I want to watch this,
- 12:09Speaker 3: that tells me that people older than her that are
- 12:16Speaker 3: in the demographic that Disney Star Wars Lucasfilm is trying
- 12:21Speaker 3: to say, Hey, we need to grab this demographic while
- 12:24Speaker 3: they're young so that way they can grow with us.
- 12:27Speaker 3: They want those different things too. And if we are
- 12:32Speaker 3: getting the exact same boring Star Wars stuff, like I
- 12:37Speaker 3: said last time we were talking with Adrian, it's just
- 12:41Speaker 3: going to be a very big discippointment, not just nobody,
- 12:47Speaker 3: but for these younger people that are like, hey, we're
- 12:52Speaker 3: done watching this, let's watch something else, and they don't
- 12:55Speaker 3: get that something else.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Yep. And if you don't grow with your audience, if
- 13:01Speaker 2: you don't constantly evolve your content, your people who are
- 13:06Speaker 2: coming to watch these things, they're going to die eventually.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Everybody dies eventually, Like you just have to accept it.
- 13:12Speaker 2: And when the people who saw Star Wars and theaters
- 13:17Speaker 2: that are like attacking these content creators, not the content creators,
- 13:23Speaker 2: well content creators, yes, because like we're gonna talk about
- 13:26Speaker 2: this later, but like a Brazilian Star Wars podcasters have
- 13:31Speaker 2: been attacked for defending their opinion on saying hey, can
- 13:35Speaker 2: we renew the accolade? Like that's the unacceptable part right here,
- 13:39Speaker 2: Like did I call Snyder fans crazy? Yes? But did
- 13:43Speaker 2: I go into anybody's mentions and go, hey, you're crazy?
- 13:47Speaker 2: Like shut up?
- 13:49Speaker 3: It's very I will never love the experience of the Internet. Yeah,
- 13:55Speaker 3: I think it's very fun at times. But the world
- 14:00Speaker 3: that we now live in where people are openly hateful
- 14:07Speaker 3: towards things like Katie, I know that you've been supporting
- 14:11Speaker 3: my content creation on the video game side on Twitter,
- 14:15Speaker 3: and I already have somebody like commenting on my post
- 14:19Speaker 3: and saying, hey, nobody plays this game, like hey, why
- 14:22Speaker 3: are you doing this? Like like and I'm just like why,
- 14:28Speaker 3: like you are spending your time? And I did see
- 14:32Speaker 3: a post about this because somebody apparently commented on an
- 14:38Speaker 3: Acolyte video saying something about like the renew you know
- 14:42Speaker 3: campaign or whatever, and they're like that show is trash
- 14:45Speaker 3: blah blah blah, nobody cares about it, And then they
- 14:48Speaker 3: responded very quickly with, well, you cared about it because
- 14:52Speaker 3: you care so much that you are willing to watch
- 14:56Speaker 3: a full video or look for a hashtag and then
- 15:02Speaker 3: comment about this hashtag. If you didn't care about it.
- 15:07Speaker 2: Why are you wasting your time? Yea, spend time with
- 15:11Speaker 2: the things that you love. Stop searching for things that
- 15:14Speaker 2: you hate. It's not worth it. You're just gonna drive
- 15:17Speaker 2: yourself bashit crazy.
- 15:20Speaker 3: Yeah, don't do it. It's insane that people do this on
- 15:24Speaker 3: a daily basis. I don't I don't understand. I really
- 15:29Speaker 3: really don't. Greg is saying I don't agree with people
- 15:35Speaker 3: being attacked for liking what they like or dislike. Everyone
- 15:38Speaker 3: is entitled to voice their opinion without being hateful to
- 15:41Speaker 3: other people. And that's one hundred percent what we're trying
- 15:44Speaker 3: to say with the reactions that we are getting out
- 15:50Speaker 3: of simply saying hey, we as a collective like this
- 15:55Speaker 3: show and we're sad that it got canceled. And it's
- 16:00Speaker 3: one thing if people were like, Okay, I didn't like that,
- 16:03Speaker 3: let's move on to something else. No, these people are like, yes,
- 16:08Speaker 3: it's canceled. You're like, do you understand that if you
- 16:14Speaker 3: were a fan of Star Wars you're happy with never
- 16:18Speaker 3: getting anything new.
- 16:22Speaker 2: You're gonna get five hundred spin offs of The Mandalorian
- 16:26Speaker 2: a dozen times.
- 16:27Speaker 3: That I'm so confused by that logic. Okay, my brand?
- 16:33Speaker 2: Do you still have all this?
- 16:36Speaker 3: Like?
- 16:36Speaker 2: Can you like go enjoy the Mandalorian? You like, I
- 16:40Speaker 2: don't care if you tweet a dozen times about how
- 16:43Speaker 2: much you hate something on your own feed. If that's
- 16:46Speaker 2: the way you want to spend your time, then great,
- 16:49Speaker 2: But if you want to go to somebody else's speed
- 16:52Speaker 2: and attack them and say that they're an our word, Like, no,
- 16:58Speaker 2: that's not all.
- 17:00Speaker 3: I've I've seen some very nasty things and uh, one
- 17:06Speaker 3: one I can't even remember his name. What was the
- 17:09Speaker 3: dude that got like, ohso famous for wanting to basically
- 17:14Speaker 3: chet gbt uh freaking Hammill's voice into his YouTube.
- 17:21Speaker 2: WT We're not going to say his actual name.
- 17:23Speaker 3: Yeah, So he reacted to.
- 17:30Speaker 2: A man a manless story, and people were.
- 17:34Speaker 3: Pointing out some very interesting choices in his way of
- 17:41Speaker 3: reacting to her comparatively to a white male. I'll just
- 17:48Speaker 3: say that, and it's it's very telling it's very telling,
- 17:56Speaker 3: and I I just I don't get it. I don't
- 18:00Speaker 3: get how people can say that they are fans of
- 18:03Speaker 3: something and spend ninety nine point nine percent of their
- 18:08Speaker 3: time in that fandom hating it.
- 18:13Speaker 2: Yes, and especially when the fact of the matter is
- 18:16Speaker 2: is that Amandla has been attacked since day one and
- 18:21Speaker 2: I'm at Best and a couple other Creed actors in
- 18:26Speaker 2: the Star Wars franchise came out in support of Amandla
- 18:30Speaker 2: and like tried to say, like, hey, like it happens,
- 18:34Speaker 2: but like, don't let it get you down, please, Like
- 18:38Speaker 2: you guys did an incredible job basically, and like that
- 18:43Speaker 2: just means a lot to me to see people like
- 18:45Speaker 2: I'm at Best and others like coming out and to
- 18:49Speaker 2: support somebody who's like getting beat up, Like there are
- 18:53Speaker 2: still people in her like posts like from years ago
- 18:59Speaker 2: saying Haha, I'm glad your show got canceled. No, that's
- 19:03Speaker 2: not okay.
- 19:04Speaker 3: I I again, I don't understand it. There was Uh well,
- 19:11Speaker 3: let's just go ahead and jump into the actual article.
- 19:17Speaker 2: Uh okay, well you pulled that up. I'm gonna respond
- 19:19Speaker 2: to all in the game. So all the games that
- 19:21Speaker 2: have any of the other Star Wars shows been officially
- 19:25Speaker 2: canceled by Lucasfilm, So the answer to that is no Ahsoka.
- 19:33Speaker 2: Natasha Lou Bordeso said that Ahsoka season two will start
- 19:38Speaker 2: filming summer twenty twenty five, which is after The Mandalorian
- 19:42Speaker 2: and the Grogo finishes shooting, which we'll talk about later.
- 19:45Speaker 2: Uh but Bubba Fett, obi Wan, all of those have
- 19:48Speaker 2: kind of been left off into oblivion. So the fact
- 19:51Speaker 2: of the matter is is that the Accolade was also
- 19:54Speaker 2: even though Leslie Headland stated, Hey, I've got plans from
- 19:57Speaker 2: war seasons like it. Everything LUCASILM has promoted besides things
- 20:03Speaker 2: like The Mandalorian has always been touted as a limited series,
- 20:08Speaker 2: So you could have just left it and said, oh, yeah,
- 20:11Speaker 2: we're good, Like I mean, people are still clamoring for
- 20:15Speaker 2: Obi Wan and some people are still clamoring for Boa Fete.
- 20:18Speaker 2: Season Two's like it would have still happened, but it
- 20:25Speaker 2: would have probably gone the same way, Like I think
- 20:28Speaker 2: Acolyte picked up more people wanting a season two. But
- 20:32Speaker 2: like you could have just left it and said, oh yeah,
- 20:34Speaker 2: we're not gonna talk about the Acolyte. But no, then
- 20:37Speaker 2: you bring out Manny for t twenty three. You already
- 20:41Speaker 2: promote him for Star Wars Celebration twenty twenty five. And
- 20:45Speaker 2: the fact of the matter is is that stuff has
- 20:48Speaker 2: come out that a writer's room for season two was
- 20:52Speaker 2: being gathered in February for the Acolyte. Yeah, like everybody
- 21:00Speaker 2: who's a scooper in Star Wars basically confirmed that and
- 21:03Speaker 2: was like, yeah, there was a writer's room happening. Yeah,
- 21:07Speaker 2: and now.
- 21:07Speaker 3: There's and all the Game says it's the official announcement.
- 21:11Speaker 3: That I don't get because he also says, oh, so
- 21:15Speaker 3: our shows like Boba fett Obi Wan and Ahsoka, et
- 21:17Speaker 3: cetera still ongoing shows. The only one that has sim
- 21:23Speaker 3: I've been confirmed, because I don't. I feel like there
- 21:26Speaker 3: was a small like because we talked about this inside
- 21:31Speaker 3: The Men, was inside the Mandalorian.
- 21:36Speaker 2: Movie announcement. Yeah, yeah, And like I said, Natasha Loup
- 21:40Speaker 2: Bordiso has said they're filming next summer for a SOCA
- 21:44Speaker 2: season two.
- 21:46Speaker 3: Yes.
- 21:46Speaker 2: Everything else is kind of like, oh, yeah, it exists,
- 21:50Speaker 2: but it also doesn't.
- 21:51Speaker 3: Like yeah, And I think that is so silly again
- 21:59Speaker 3: that Disney and Lucasfilm have to literally go out of
- 22:03Speaker 3: their way to say, oh, this show in particular is
- 22:07Speaker 3: canceled when there is no word on the oh so
- 22:14Speaker 3: speculated obi Wan season two. Do you know how many
- 22:18Speaker 3: people were talking about obi Wan season two for like
- 22:22Speaker 3: the three months after obi Wan? Yep, that within itself,
- 22:26Speaker 3: Like I it's it's so frustrating, this whole situation.
- 22:33Speaker 2: And that's the part we're saying. The official announcement only
- 22:36Speaker 2: feeds into the toxicity.
- 22:38Speaker 3: It only does.
- 22:39Speaker 2: Yeah, like this was a deliberate statement, and you can say, well,
- 22:46Speaker 2: like they didn't say anything, but like come on, like
- 22:50Speaker 2: nothing has been officially canceled. That is a major ip.
- 22:55Speaker 3: And and that's what I'm talking about. You have streaming
- 23:00Speaker 3: services Netflix, Peacock, Paramount Max, all of these other streaming services,
- 23:10Speaker 3: Amazon Prime Video. They make announcements when shows cancel all
- 23:15Speaker 3: the time, all the time. And Disney, for some odd
- 23:22Speaker 3: reason is just like, Eh, you know, we're just putting
- 23:25Speaker 3: out content. We're not going to cancel anything. We're just
- 23:27Speaker 3: gonna put out content. And if we ever feel like
- 23:29Speaker 3: making a season two, will make a season two. It's
- 23:32Speaker 3: just rolling in the dough blah blah blah. But this
- 23:34Speaker 3: show in particular, we have to cancel this show. M hm.
- 23:40Speaker 2: And and I will say in the idea of hey,
- 23:46Speaker 2: nothing's official until it's on Star Wars dot Com. We
- 23:53Speaker 2: say that, but IGN, Collider, Deadline, Variety all said they
- 24:00Speaker 2: spoke with a Lucas Salm representative.
- 24:03Speaker 3: Yeah, Forbes, IndieWire, Empire, like it's it's all the big guys,
- 24:10Speaker 3: uh that we're we're writing these articles, and that's what
- 24:15Speaker 3: I wanted to confirm. The Uh cancelation doesn't bode well
- 24:18Speaker 3: for the future. That was actually Indy Wire not right,
- 24:23Speaker 3: but I it's it's just so frustrating, it says here.
- 24:31Speaker 3: And yet the cancelation of the show is despite the
- 24:34Speaker 3: hell of a cliffhanger ending with the show Amandola and
- 24:37Speaker 3: Osha turning to the dark side. Uh where Oh shoot,
- 24:42Speaker 3: Uh I lost it. I was gonna bring up a
- 24:46Speaker 3: point that this article said either way either way, as
- 24:57Speaker 3: we were saying, you know, all of these articles have
- 25:03Speaker 3: one thing in common, and it's like Katie said in
- 25:06Speaker 3: the very beginning, it is every single person calling bs
- 25:14Speaker 3: on Disney. This doesn't bode well for the future of
- 25:21Speaker 3: Star Wars, but it doesn't really bode well for us
- 25:26Speaker 3: fans in the in like looking into Disney, it's like
- 25:30Speaker 3: guys Like, for me, I don't know how to word
- 25:36Speaker 3: this exactly, but because I feel like sometimes we just
- 25:42Speaker 3: go on a constant like circle with a lot of
- 25:45Speaker 3: these things. We just want to hammer it in to say, hey,
- 25:54Speaker 3: and you know what, I might be a huge hypocrite
- 25:57Speaker 3: because me and Abby are possible going to Disney World
- 26:01Speaker 3: for Amberlyn's fifth birthday, but like, Disney may act like
- 26:12Speaker 3: the best and it's the happiest place on Earth and
- 26:16Speaker 3: all of these other things, but I'm not entirely sure
- 26:22Speaker 3: if it's for us Star Wars fans and that sucks.
- 26:30Speaker 2: I I would agree, but I would also disagree. But
- 26:35Speaker 2: that's because we are readers. Yes, in the books of
- 26:41Speaker 2: the Star Wars universe are more catered towards the fans
- 26:46Speaker 2: who want the universe to grow.
- 26:49Speaker 3: Yes, But again, as we said prior in this same conversation,
- 26:57Speaker 3: editors are like, I don't know if they're struggling. I
- 27:01Speaker 3: don't think they're struggling. But for the fact that if
- 27:04Speaker 3: you think as a company like Random House Worlds, it's like, hey,
- 27:11Speaker 3: who would be the best person for this book? And
- 27:15Speaker 3: you're like, oh, I got it. You go to that
- 27:17Speaker 3: person and they say, nah, I'm good. I see how
- 27:23Speaker 3: people react to Star Wars. That's if that doesn't sting
- 27:30Speaker 3: like that that kind of gives you the eck. I'm sorry,
- 27:35Speaker 3: Like I like, yes, I'm enjoying what I'm reading right now,
- 27:39Speaker 3: and I will continue to read it because, like you say,
- 27:42Speaker 3: they cater to us. It's the stuff that we want
- 27:45Speaker 3: in the Star Wars franchise. But how long until they
- 27:51Speaker 3: have to just be like, hey, this is just kind
- 27:53Speaker 3: of like our circle of writers because nobody else wants
- 27:55Speaker 3: to write for us.
- 27:57Speaker 2: I mean, but doesn't it already kind of look like that,
- 28:02Speaker 2: especially with Disney publishing. Let's just be real. One All
- 28:10Speaker 2: in the Game says are we to expect some level
- 28:13Speaker 2: of toxicity towards all non mentalorian And I'm assuming he's saying,
- 28:18Speaker 2: like meaning era movies, slash shows going forward, because it
- 28:22Speaker 2: sure feels that way. I would say anything that Dave
- 28:27Speaker 2: Folaloni is not involved with like day to Day that I.
- 28:35Speaker 3: Well, because here's something is Filonia gonna be involved heavily
- 28:41Speaker 3: in the Skate Race Skywalker Return movie? I would bet,
- 28:51Speaker 3: and I bet you anything, there's gonna be that toxicity
- 28:54Speaker 3: in that movie.
- 28:56Speaker 2: That's a true point. That's a true point. But like
- 29:02Speaker 2: I think, I think because season two played towards the nostalgia,
- 29:12Speaker 2: we so yeah, yeah, could could be the Mandalorian specific stuff,
- 29:17Speaker 2: like everything in the thirteen b By is not going
- 29:22Speaker 2: to be attacked because they gave us Luke Skywalker, like
- 29:26Speaker 2: y yay.
- 29:29Speaker 3: Because I'm you know, we are. We keep talking about
- 29:35Speaker 3: in the gay chat, like you know, the the the
- 29:40Speaker 3: Dawn of the Jedi movie, whatever it's gonna be called,
- 29:42Speaker 3: like come on, like Mangold, you can do it. You're
- 29:45Speaker 3: gonna You're gonna make a great movie. And Travis is
- 29:47Speaker 3: always like, I don't know, I don't know. It's starting
- 29:51Speaker 3: to get to that point. I feel like for me because.
- 29:55Speaker 2: It's supposed to be Mangold's next movie, like it's a
- 29:58Speaker 2: positive and and.
- 30:00Speaker 3: I am totally down for it actually getting into production.
- 30:08Speaker 3: But here's the thing. If there is one minute ounce
- 30:16Speaker 3: of something that will get this toxic circle fark cloud
- 30:25Speaker 3: that is they call themselves Star Wars fans, if there
- 30:31Speaker 3: is even a minute ounce of something that will scratch
- 30:36Speaker 3: their head, they will throw everything at the wall. They
- 30:40Speaker 3: will scream until they're blue in the face that it sucks.
- 30:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean yeah, because they didn't like that black
- 30:51Speaker 2: woman was cast as the main character in the Accolyte,
- 30:54Speaker 2: and day one her announcement, her casting announcement came, I
- 30:59Speaker 2: hate your guts, Like, can't believe you were cast in this,
- 31:01Speaker 2: your movie, your TV show is going to be canceled,
- 31:03Speaker 2: blah blah blahlah. We're gonna talk in circles. Okay. Greg
- 31:07Speaker 2: says Disney Plus Star Wars was a terrible thing to
- 31:11Speaker 2: happen Star Wars. I'm assuming you're saying, like Disney buying
- 31:15Speaker 2: Star Wars, it's a terrible thing to happen. Star Wars
- 31:18Speaker 2: already had a ton of content they could have put
- 31:20Speaker 2: on screen and been very successful. Dive in Revin Baine
- 31:23Speaker 2: or Thron. All Right, y'all, we're gonna hit our first
- 31:26Speaker 2: ad break and we will be right back in three
- 31:29Speaker 2: two one.
- 31:33Speaker 3: Wait is he saying Disney Plus or Disney Star Wars?
- 31:37Speaker 2: I think Disney Star Wars.
- 31:39Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, because I kind of get it to the
- 31:42Speaker 3: fact where he's saying he could have they could have
- 31:44Speaker 3: dived into Revn Bain Thron because that is of course
- 31:48Speaker 3: what they what is now considered legends. Yeah, and he.
- 31:53Speaker 2: Said, do that you get away from the Skywalker stories.
- 31:57Speaker 2: Disney is more about money and quantity than call I feel. Unfortunately, Greg,
- 32:03Speaker 2: a lot of the things that are that you are
- 32:07Speaker 2: talking about still dive very much towards the Skywalker saya.
- 32:12Speaker 2: Yes you have Revin and yes you have Vain, but
- 32:16Speaker 2: Thron was all Skywalker saga, Like the Skywalkers are intrinsic
- 32:23Speaker 2: in the air to the Empire trilogy, the hand of
- 32:25Speaker 2: Thron duology like all of that. The Skywalkers are necessary
- 32:30Speaker 2: to those stories. And Star Wars Legends has a super
- 32:35Speaker 2: weapon problem. In the twenty years alone after Return of
- 32:39Speaker 2: the Jedi, there was six super weapons, like and then
- 32:44Speaker 2: you have the us on Vong who come in with
- 32:47Speaker 2: like eight more super weapons, and they're.
- 32:50Speaker 3: Literally talking about that in some of the stuff that
- 32:54Speaker 3: we are reading for this show and also on the
- 32:58Speaker 3: game is one hundred say correct when you're saying Disney
- 33:01Speaker 3: plus demanding a ton of content from both MCU and
- 33:04Speaker 3: Star Wars overall has not been ranked. And the one
- 33:08Speaker 3: thing that me and Katie have said when it comes
- 33:11Speaker 3: to and I genuinely think that it has to happen
- 33:15Speaker 3: with the MCU as well, is the fact that the
- 33:21Speaker 3: best part of Marvel and DC I'll take these two
- 33:26Speaker 3: just because they are the big two in comics. But
- 33:30Speaker 3: the best part about some of these stories is we,
- 33:36Speaker 3: as the audience of a big screen movie, see superheroes
- 33:42Speaker 3: as one genre, whereas when you look at comics, the
- 33:47Speaker 3: superheroes are in multiple genres with superheroes inside them. Star
- 33:55Speaker 3: Wars is and can be that exact same thing. It
- 34:01Speaker 3: is a galaxy far far away, but we're always in
- 34:07Speaker 3: this teeny tiny middle space.
- 34:12Speaker 2: Yep, and like, and you can say, oh, well, what
- 34:20Speaker 2: is his name? Bob Eiger has come in and he's
- 34:23Speaker 2: like trying to train Disney Plus better and make everything
- 34:29Speaker 2: longer standing versus having a ton of stuff dumped on
- 34:32Speaker 2: Disney Plus twenty four to seven. Yes, but then we
- 34:35Speaker 2: get back to the original point that saying the Accolade
- 34:40Speaker 2: was canceled and having that be your first major ip
- 34:44Speaker 2: that was canceled is the problem here. If you were
- 34:49Speaker 2: going to put out an announcement that things were canceled,
- 34:52Speaker 2: you should have put out a general announcement and said, hey,
- 34:56Speaker 2: Loki is done, the Book of Boba Fett is done.
- 35:01Speaker 2: All we want is not coming back. Like there should
- 35:03Speaker 2: have been a general statement that said here's what's canceled, Like, yeah,
- 35:09Speaker 2: some press release. That's not that hard because I.
- 35:12Speaker 3: See I think every three months or so, I see
- 35:17Speaker 3: an article from comicbook dot com or from Variety or
- 35:23Speaker 3: from Forbes or Collider that's always like, here's everything leaving Netflix,
- 35:29Speaker 3: and here's everything coming to Netflix. And it's these things.
- 35:33Speaker 3: It's a giant list, and it'll say the title, it'll
- 35:37Speaker 3: say the season that it's on, and it'll say renewed
- 35:40Speaker 3: for this season or canceled. This is the final air
- 35:44Speaker 3: date for a last season, Like it shows everything. I
- 35:48Speaker 3: have not seen that at all from Disney plus yeah, whatsoever.
- 35:54Speaker 3: And I think that is a huge issue because you
- 35:58Speaker 3: have this expectation from people who and I've I've heard
- 36:05Speaker 3: this many times before. I'm not currently a subscriber to
- 36:08Speaker 3: Netflix but because and the reason why is because one,
- 36:12Speaker 3: it's way too damn expensive right now. But some of
- 36:16Speaker 3: the shows that I honestly want to watch this year
- 36:18Speaker 3: are not even coming out until December. So we're waiting
- 36:20Speaker 3: until December, gonna binge everything and then cancel it again.
- 36:24Speaker 3: But there's some genuine people out there that have subscribed
- 36:28Speaker 3: to Netflix and then threw away their you know, account
- 36:34Speaker 3: settings and they can't cancel it. They're just like, I'm
- 36:37Speaker 3: just gonna be subscribed forever, and it's become like this
- 36:41Speaker 3: normal thing for them when it comes to Netflix. Disney
- 36:45Speaker 3: wants that to be them. But when there is no
- 36:49Speaker 3: expectations on, hey, we're gonna get constant shows of what
- 36:54Speaker 3: we like and what you know, something that we can
- 36:57Speaker 3: dive into all the time, Like something needs to change
- 37:03Speaker 3: at Disney for that to become more of a regular thing,
- 37:09Speaker 3: because yeah, we who are hosts of this show are
- 37:15Speaker 3: constantly looking up air dates, are constantly hey, what's coming
- 37:18Speaker 3: out in the next year. We are always in the no.
- 37:22Speaker 3: But if you were to tell me, hey, what shows
- 37:25Speaker 3: other than Disney or I mean other than Star Wars
- 37:28Speaker 3: and MCU related what's coming to Disney plus, I would
- 37:32Speaker 3: have absolutely no idea.
- 37:35Speaker 2: My mom has absolutely no idea. When I didn't tell
- 37:40Speaker 2: her that there was a Deadpool Wolverine movie coming out,
- 37:43Speaker 2: and as soon as she found out the Hugh Jackman
- 37:46Speaker 2: was returning for Deadpool, she was like, why didn't you
- 37:48Speaker 2: tell me? Like she depends on me for this stuff,
- 37:52Speaker 2: Like I had to tell her that, Like The Midnight
- 37:56Speaker 2: Sun's adaptation for Twilight was coming to Netflix and like
- 38:03Speaker 2: they were going straight to series, because if if that
- 38:06Speaker 2: had come out and she had found out about that
- 38:09Speaker 2: from some other means, she would have been pissed in me,
- 38:13Speaker 2: Like nobody.
- 38:15Speaker 3: Else put that in our chat for you.
- 38:16Speaker 2: By the way, I appreciate that because that was the
- 38:19Speaker 2: only way I know it wouldn't It wasn't anywhere. Okay,
- 38:24Speaker 2: so let's talk. I think the only cast reaction we
- 38:27Speaker 2: haven't directly talked about was Nanny's and specifically this one
- 38:32Speaker 2: comment from dragon Con this weekend where he said, when asked,
- 38:39Speaker 2: what is your goal in life, and Natasha lou Bordiso
- 38:43Speaker 2: said something along the lines of like, I am getting
- 38:47Speaker 2: a van, like because I think she wants to do
- 38:49Speaker 2: like a cross country tour or something. Nanny said to
- 38:52Speaker 2: make the Acolyte season two.
- 38:57Speaker 3: Yeah, and I'll be completely honest, he as a character
- 39:03Speaker 3: probably has a little bit more of a lung jevity.
- 39:10Speaker 3: And the only reason why I'm saying this, we have
- 39:13Speaker 3: no idea what's in store for Osha, and I think
- 39:22Speaker 3: that her character alone being the first to bleed a
- 39:25Speaker 3: crystal on screen on TV, not technically first on screen,
- 39:29Speaker 3: because that is from Jedi Survivor, but seeing it in
- 39:33Speaker 3: live action with Manny I saw. I didn't even realize
- 39:38Speaker 3: this or think about it until I saw somebody else
- 39:42Speaker 3: post about it. His character has killed the most Jedi
- 39:52Speaker 3: on screen than any Sith in history. No, no, no, on screen.
- 40:02Speaker 2: Oh yeah, okay, yeah, I hear what you're saying.
- 40:05Speaker 3: Because yeah, Anakin Skywalker killed a whole bunch of young Wings.
- 40:10Speaker 3: We didn't see that.
- 40:11Speaker 2: Yeah, man accurate.
- 40:14Speaker 3: Killed the most Jedi on screen. And the only other
- 40:20Speaker 3: person who held that titles as killing the most Jedi,
- 40:26Speaker 3: I think was Count Dooku. I think is what had
- 40:32Speaker 3: been said in the in the post, so like he
- 40:36Speaker 3: has like this new like championship belts, and he is
- 40:44Speaker 3: like he has a lot writing on this. There was
- 40:47Speaker 3: a lot of potential story. We talked about it, like, hey,
- 40:52Speaker 3: you know, season two could be full of flashbacks and
- 40:55Speaker 3: all these other things. And there's this idea of who
- 40:58Speaker 3: he was as a padawan at the Academy, like all
- 41:00Speaker 3: of these different things. So yeah, I think he would
- 41:05Speaker 3: want to fight for that. Yeah, and I think.
- 41:10Speaker 2: And I also forgot about this one, but he also
- 41:12Speaker 2: said in a different panel, we are still fighting for
- 41:16Speaker 2: the show. Yes, So that talks a lot about the
- 41:20Speaker 2: behind the scenes and everything. I love, Amanla, but you
- 41:25Speaker 2: are right, they might see Manny as more potential long
- 41:30Speaker 2: term because of the connection he makes between Plagas and Palpatine.
- 41:36Speaker 3: Yeah somewhere, And that's what I mean when it comes
- 41:41Speaker 3: to the idea of Star Wars, he as a character
- 41:50Speaker 3: that is seen as the possible pupil of Plagis. Like,
- 41:58Speaker 3: people are gonna be like, what is that? Like, we
- 42:01Speaker 3: got to know that story that can hold a huge
- 42:06Speaker 3: staple that is the history of Star Wars, you know. Yeah,
- 42:11Speaker 3: so I think I think that's why there's like this
- 42:14Speaker 3: possible wait on manny As, Like, hey, I have a
- 42:17Speaker 3: lot writing on this. And of course I think again,
- 42:21Speaker 3: with all of our theories, regardless of if any of
- 42:25Speaker 3: them were ever something that were to become true, because
- 42:28Speaker 3: trust me, there was a lot of them on Twitter
- 42:31Speaker 3: throughout their show, we don't know what would have inevitably
- 42:35Speaker 3: ended up happening to Osha and her sister so I,
- 42:41Speaker 3: but I still genuinely believe that they were a focal
- 42:46Speaker 3: point to whatever was potentially going to be. Of course,
- 42:52Speaker 3: Emperor Palpaty like and his grand master plan for what
- 42:56Speaker 3: we see through the Skywalker saga.
- 42:58Speaker 2: Yep, all right, so we're at this point. Oh. Greg
- 43:04Speaker 2: did say in reference to Manny, he was the best
- 43:07Speaker 2: part of the show. I can agree and disagree with you.
- 43:12Speaker 2: At the same time, he was top three, top three.
- 43:19Speaker 2: We had more stuff drop over the two week period, Specifically,
- 43:25Speaker 2: Sigourney Weaver confirmed that she will be a part of
- 43:31Speaker 2: the Mandalorian and grogu and there was a theory that
- 43:37Speaker 2: she could be replacing the current actress which I cannot
- 43:40Speaker 2: remember her name, for a Pelly motto, which I hope
- 43:45Speaker 2: not because I love that actress. I think it's it's.
- 43:48Speaker 3: A little bit of a nightmare thought. We we did
- 43:53Speaker 3: make this joke when Sigourney was first announced. I think
- 43:58Speaker 3: it was actually a who pointed that out. I think
- 44:06Speaker 3: it would not be great. The actor is oh well,
- 44:16Speaker 3: uh actually, uh, John from over there at the Resistance
- 44:22Speaker 3: podcast he actually tweeted out a while ago and said,
- 44:25Speaker 3: it's Sigourney Weaver's character going to meet Pelly and tell
- 44:28Speaker 3: her she likes her style because they have the same hairstyle.
- 44:31Speaker 3: I think that would be hilarious, but I I don't
- 44:36Speaker 3: think so. I think it would be a very big
- 44:39Speaker 3: slap in the face to that actress who plays Pelly,
- 44:43Speaker 3: to be like, hey, you're cool for television, you're not
- 44:47Speaker 3: cool for the big screen. Yeah, that would be a
- 44:52Speaker 3: huge slap in the face because if that's the case,
- 44:54Speaker 3: Petro Pascal, he's good for movies and television, but why
- 44:59Speaker 3: does he get the chain to be in the movie
- 45:01Speaker 3: but not her? You know? Yeah, if it's the same characters.
- 45:05Speaker 3: And I think that would be even more confusing that
- 45:08Speaker 3: if this is all in the same universe, why only
- 45:11Speaker 3: recast for a movie, but like say, her character comes
- 45:14Speaker 3: back when the show comes back to streaming and it's
- 45:17Speaker 3: her again. It's just like why, Like that just would
- 45:21Speaker 3: not make any sense whatsoever.
- 45:23Speaker 2: Yeap bye Greg Oh. So this is something that I
- 45:31Speaker 2: found interesting from Fan Expo Canada. Rosario Dawson was there
- 45:37Speaker 2: and she interviewed with job del Dekelmeyer excuse me and said,
- 45:43Speaker 2: the world between world scene in Ahsoka is one of
- 45:46Speaker 2: the few scenes not shot on the volume. I think
- 45:50Speaker 2: that explains why it looks so good. Is it dangerous
- 45:53Speaker 2: to say that? Is Kevin Faigi or Dave Filoni kind
- 45:56Speaker 2: of come shoot me with the cybery.
- 45:58Speaker 3: It was interesting when I saw that post because it
- 46:04Speaker 3: looks like the one scene that would need.
- 46:11Speaker 2: To be right in the right but it looks incredible.
- 46:17Speaker 3: Yeah, maybe because.
- 46:18Speaker 2: It's a horizontal shot they wanted of like an actual
- 46:23Speaker 2: stage versus like something cylindrical.
- 46:27Speaker 3: I think so. I think it just fits very well. Also,
- 46:32Speaker 3: I want I want to go back and watch that
- 46:36Speaker 3: scene again to see if they ever played with the
- 46:42Speaker 3: ratio with the screen ratio at all, because I feel
- 46:47Speaker 3: like that would have also kind of made it more
- 46:51Speaker 3: like you know, so, I It's just it's incredible what
- 46:59Speaker 3: Star Wars can do without the volume, and they need
- 47:03Speaker 3: to do it more often. I'm just gonna say that,
- 47:09Speaker 3: because again, do you know what else looked really really
- 47:12Speaker 3: good and was not all shut in the volume?
- 47:16Speaker 2: The Acolyte, thee O how except sarcasm? If anybody came out, Okay,
- 47:29Speaker 2: did you take you probably didn't have time for this,
- 47:32Speaker 2: but the dragging I wanted for Star Wars trivia I
- 47:37Speaker 2: want to Flyinground is available and I might.
- 47:41Speaker 3: Do it over the weekend and then share my resumes.
- 47:46Speaker 3: It might be a.
- 47:47Speaker 2: Topic next week because I took it and I got
- 47:51Speaker 2: a twenty nine out of fifty, which I think is
- 47:53Speaker 2: my best score ever.
- 47:55Speaker 3: Now remind me because I feel like we talk about
- 47:58Speaker 3: this every single time it happens. This is like the hardcore,
- 48:05Speaker 3: most difficult Star Wars quiz that has ever come out, right, Like.
- 48:09Speaker 2: Basically there's like there could be other things, but this
- 48:13Speaker 2: is the hardest one. Like they they have a question
- 48:17Speaker 2: on there, and they put this in the question, this
- 48:22Speaker 2: and they put this in parentheses. This question will remain
- 48:25Speaker 2: on the test until at least twenty five percent of
- 48:28Speaker 2: you get it right. This is its sixth year on
- 48:34Speaker 2: the quiz. I died laughing.
- 48:41Speaker 3: That is amazing. That is amazing. What's the question?
- 48:45Speaker 2: I can't tell you that you're gonna take it this weekend. Also,
- 48:49Speaker 2: I don't remember.
- 48:51Speaker 3: Oh god, damn it, I was gonna say, because you know,
- 48:55Speaker 3: if I can help get that question off the quiz,
- 48:58Speaker 3: maybe I can a lot of people next year.
- 49:03Speaker 2: I am super proud of myself because the questions that
- 49:07Speaker 2: I got wrong, I was between the correct answer and
- 49:10Speaker 2: the answer I picked, which, okay, it's never happened before.
- 49:13Speaker 3: One thing that I need to know because depending on
- 49:19Speaker 3: your answer is going to get me to take the
- 49:23Speaker 3: quiz or not.
- 49:25Speaker 2: No, you're going to take the quiz because we're talking
- 49:26Speaker 2: about it next week end of discussion.
- 49:29Speaker 3: Okay, So question is how vast are the questions and
- 49:37Speaker 3: the knowledge of everything other than Tbian movies?
- 49:44Speaker 4: Uh?
- 49:44Speaker 2: Pretty vast?
- 49:46Speaker 3: Okay, So there's some Legends questions.
- 49:53Speaker 2: No, there's no Legends questions.
- 49:55Speaker 3: It's just God, okay, just canon. I'm good. Well, scratch that.
- 50:00Speaker 3: I haven't read every Cannon novel, so I might be screwed,
- 50:04Speaker 3: but I I've gotten to know a little bit more
- 50:09Speaker 3: about Star Wars since we've been doing this podcast, so
- 50:11Speaker 3: I might be. You know, if you get twenty nine
- 50:15Speaker 3: out of fifty, I can easily get ten.
- 50:20Speaker 2: My sister got eighteen.
- 50:22Speaker 3: So okay, if she could.
- 50:24Speaker 2: Get he's not read any books.
- 50:26Speaker 3: Okay, Okay, that makes me feel a little bit better. Okay.
- 50:33Speaker 2: And the passing. So this is the qualifying quiz to
- 50:39Speaker 2: get into the finals at dragon Con this year, you
- 50:43Speaker 2: needed a thirty four out of fifty. And I will
- 50:48Speaker 2: say this because I saw this. I think Alex from
- 50:52Speaker 2: Star Wars explained. Okay, So he's like very vast. I
- 50:56Speaker 2: tell you he got a thirty six on the qualifying
- 50:59Speaker 2: time A.
- 51:02Speaker 3: Nice.
- 51:03Speaker 2: So yeah, So we'll talk about that next week and
- 51:07Speaker 2: we'll go through like some of the answers and stuff
- 51:10Speaker 2: and everything.
- 51:10Speaker 3: Okay, okay, I will make sure to take the quiz
- 51:15Speaker 3: because I believe you even shared it on your Twitter,
- 51:17Speaker 3: so I know how to find it.
- 51:19Speaker 2: So, yes, it's also in the Star Wars Alliance chat,
- 51:22Speaker 2: so I'll text.
- 51:23Speaker 3: It to you. It's like you can't run away from
- 51:27Speaker 3: this clay.
- 51:28Speaker 2: That is correct. You can run away from a lot
- 51:31Speaker 2: of things, but this so at Dragon con Dominic Monahan,
- 51:41Speaker 2: I think is how you pronounce His name was there
- 51:43Speaker 2: and he was signing things, and he actually signed The
- 51:50Speaker 2: Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire, which is the
- 51:52Speaker 2: book written from his character's point of view. I think
- 51:59Speaker 2: that's pretty cool. Well, he had he had this is
- 52:03Speaker 2: Patrick Wheat who tweeted this picture and like the sign
- 52:06Speaker 2: book and everything. He had Patrick Wheat write down the
- 52:10Speaker 2: name of the book so he could go buy it
- 52:12Speaker 2: and read it because he was so intrigued that his
- 52:15Speaker 2: character had written a book. I love.
- 52:17Speaker 3: That's cool.
- 52:18Speaker 2: This is the best thing about Star Wars, Like.
- 52:24Speaker 3: Yeah, it's it's a very unique idea for a novel,
- 52:28Speaker 3: you know, for for a historian inside the Star Wars
- 52:32Speaker 3: universe to write a novel about the history of Star
- 52:37Speaker 3: Wars I think that is is very, very intriguing, which
- 52:42Speaker 3: is something that we are still planning on reviewing. It is,
- 52:45Speaker 3: from what we have heard, a very heavy book, so
- 52:51Speaker 3: we are pushing that review until later this year, but
- 52:54Speaker 3: it is on our schedule, so be on the lookout
- 52:58Speaker 3: for that when it finally drops.
- 53:00Speaker 2: For sure. The last two things. This one is super quick,
- 53:05Speaker 2: but Star Wars Outlaws apparently features a reference to the
- 53:09Speaker 2: Purge of Mandalor and confirms that the event took place
- 53:13Speaker 2: in three a b ys So during Empire strikes back,
- 53:21Speaker 2: which I.
- 53:21Speaker 3: Think is a little weird.
- 53:27Speaker 2: But remember this is a galaxy and the Empire had
- 53:31Speaker 2: billions of troops.
- 53:34Speaker 3: Yes, yes, this is very true. Also and again it's
- 53:38Speaker 3: why it's called Star Wars. Like the war does not
- 53:43Speaker 3: just happen in one place. Sometimes it happens in a
- 53:45Speaker 3: lot of places all at the same time. I need
- 53:51Speaker 3: to know, and can you correct me if I'm wrong.
- 53:56Speaker 3: There is still no story of about this specific event.
- 54:02Speaker 2: Correct just what we've seen in the Mandalorian.
- 54:06Speaker 3: I need that story. I think I think this would
- 54:11Speaker 3: be an amazing novel. Uh would be the Perjea Mandlar,
- 54:16Speaker 3: whether that be a Boca Tan story or or whatever.
- 54:21Speaker 3: I think that would be great.
- 54:23Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure, I would be intrigued. But I don't
- 54:27Speaker 2: think it's going to happen until we are outside of
- 54:31Speaker 2: the Mandalorian.
- 54:33Speaker 3: Really, why do you think so?
- 54:36Speaker 2: Because Filoni is going to play into the some flashbacks.
- 54:41Speaker 3: Ah, so you think he's going to basically suck it
- 54:44Speaker 3: dry and be like, oh, here's the leftovers, you can
- 54:46Speaker 3: do whatever with it.
- 54:48Speaker 2: Yeah, yes, I am. Then that is my thought exactly.
- 54:52Speaker 3: That is.
- 54:55Speaker 2: The last thing that we have to talk about is
- 54:59Speaker 2: the release schedule for September twenty twenty four. I found
- 55:02Speaker 2: this interesting because there's a fancy graphic for the High
- 55:04Speaker 2: Republic and everything that Michael Siglane put out. So if
- 55:10Speaker 2: you are interested, The Acolyte Kalnaka of One Shut is
- 55:16Speaker 2: out today September fourth. I've heard good things. Echoes of
- 55:24Speaker 2: Fear by George Mann is out today. That is a
- 55:28Speaker 2: four issue series with dark Horse Comics, and everybody I
- 55:32Speaker 2: know who has gotten the early release copy for this
- 55:38Speaker 2: comic series has said this is one of the best
- 55:41Speaker 2: comics to come out of dark Horse.
- 55:45Speaker 3: That's actually pretty insane. I have heard like literally just today.
- 55:52Speaker 3: Because again, guys, I can't share a lot of information
- 55:56Speaker 3: at my job, but I now work on like the
- 56:02Speaker 3: distribution side of comics, and I've heard some things about
- 56:07Speaker 3: dark Horse, so, uh, get fired. I'm not gonna get
- 56:13Speaker 3: I'll just say this, someone not going to name names
- 56:18Speaker 3: because I'm not gonna do that, has said at my job.
- 56:23Speaker 3: I'm surprised dark Horse is still standing. Yeah yeah, So uh.
- 56:31Speaker 3: Two things excite me about this book. One, this Darth
- 56:40Speaker 3: what was his Robbie Robbie Darth. Robbie looks very intriguing,
- 56:48Speaker 3: so boom and I you can't tell me there's not
- 56:53Speaker 3: a single soul who hasn't even like somebody there there
- 56:57Speaker 3: could very very well be somebody who loves reading comics
- 57:02Speaker 3: and knows about Star Wars and probably has heard like
- 57:08Speaker 3: something or other about Star Wars. This book makes you
- 57:12Speaker 3: be like, who's that.
- 57:15Speaker 2: M It's a very spooky cover, like it's intriguing.
- 57:19Speaker 3: Yes, I want to know more about him, so that
- 57:23Speaker 3: excites me. And then, of course, George Mann, one of
- 57:28Speaker 3: the underdogs of Phase two of the High Republic in
- 57:33Speaker 3: my eyes, seeing him read read being the writer on this,
- 57:40Speaker 3: I'm excited about that. I am one hundred percent excited
- 57:42Speaker 3: about that. I don't know if I will be reading
- 57:45Speaker 3: this monthly as it releases, but I will definitely be
- 57:51Speaker 3: reading it when all issues are out.
- 57:54Speaker 2: Yep. The trade is due out for release in March. Uh,
- 58:00Speaker 2: So that is the plan for me as well, even
- 58:04Speaker 2: though I want to be reading this is but I y'all,
- 58:10Speaker 2: we had so many emergencies this summer and we are
- 58:13Speaker 2: on a budget.
- 58:14Speaker 3: Yeah, that is my idea, you know. That's that's I
- 58:19Speaker 3: got the same thing. I am picking up with your
- 58:21Speaker 3: button down, Katie. But there's a book here, Crash and Burn. Well,
- 58:28Speaker 3: you go ahead and talk about Crash and Burn. There's
- 58:31Speaker 3: the other one down here, that is. I'm more interested
- 58:35Speaker 3: in what's gonna happen after that, because I don't know
- 58:37Speaker 3: if you saw, but have you heard that there's wedding
- 58:41Speaker 3: bells in the High Republic?
- 58:43Speaker 2: Yes, oh my gosh. Okay, we're gonna have to talk
- 58:47Speaker 2: about that, even though it's not I forgot about that,
- 58:50Speaker 2: but we have to talked about it.
- 58:51Speaker 3: Okay, I'm gonna I'm gonna find the announcement. Go ahead, yeah.
- 58:55Speaker 2: Crash and Burn is also written by Daniel jose Older.
- 58:59Speaker 2: Oh we haven't talked about Danieljosely. Older is written by
- 59:02Speaker 2: Danieljosely Older and it goes into the crew from it's
- 59:08Speaker 2: a one shot and it goes into the crew from
- 59:12Speaker 2: Midnight Horizons Adventures. So that is what you can expect there.
- 59:19Speaker 2: The next one is also written by Daniel hose Older.
- 59:22Speaker 2: Oh wait, hang on, I get ahead of myself. All
- 59:24Speaker 2: three of those comics we just talked about out today
- 59:28Speaker 2: September fourth. The next comic that will be released, uh
- 59:32Speaker 2: September eighteenth. Let's go ahead and say that High Republic
- 59:34Speaker 2: Adventures number ten written by Daniel jose Older, So that
- 59:39Speaker 2: is an ongoing series. It's going to keep going, so
- 59:42Speaker 2: that's what you can expect. And then the final thing
- 59:45Speaker 2: out this September is Tears of the Nameless by George Mann,
- 59:50Speaker 2: and we finally get Wreathed Silas back as the main character.
- 59:53Speaker 2: And I need him. I need him now.
- 59:56Speaker 3: I am very interested in this novel on particular because
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: of our reading of the Edge of Balance number three
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: as this, I think this will be a direct connection
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: with this book, and I want to know more. I
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: need to know more. Like it is getting I think
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: it's working out very perfectly. It's September, but it's leading
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: into the spooky season and of course right now we're
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: dealing with dring gear. They're very spooky and everything else
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: nameless are very spooky as well. So I need to
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: I need, I need more of this.
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: But yes, did you see the post that I sent you?
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: That was the summary from Star Wars Insider about that book.
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: It had Sobac in the summary.
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: Did you send me something? I think in a text.
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: In the Star Wars Alliance chat but it may have
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: been a hot minute. But yes, Colemac is in the book,
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: according to Star Wars.
- 1:01:09Speaker 3: Insider, I did not see that. That's exciting. Yes, I'm
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: very excited.
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: I have been wondering what happened to him and I
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: needed to know. I need to know.
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: So But okay, I will say this. Yes, this was
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: shared I think yesterday. Yesterday dark Horse announced Save the Date.
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: Guests from across the galaxy are invited to a celebration
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: of light, life and love and the Star Wars High
- 1:01:42Speaker 3: Republican Ventures Phase three, The Wedding Spectacular one shot arriving
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: December eighteenth. Guys, this month, the month of September, you
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: guys are going to be seeing all online and at
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: your local comic shops. The Solicits they are for initial
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: dates and final cutoff dates, for final order cut off
- 1:02:13Speaker 3: dates for October to December. So that is why this
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: is being announced now. It doesn't come out until December eighteenth,
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: but the initial order date is going to happen next month.
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: If you guys want this book, I highly recommend and
- 1:02:36Speaker 3: if you want more of this content, because this is
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: the stuff that we absolutely love in our Star Wars
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: Higher Republic era, you guys should one hundred pre order
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: this book if at all possible. I don't push that
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: very much, but I will say, and dark Horse is
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: not even one of the books that goes through my
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: distribution company, but I will say, because I am I'm
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: a fan of this content and this book, I will say,
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: if you want more of this content, pre order this book.
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: Yes, I love Zeen and Lou, so I'm going to
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: order the digital copy just because I don't have a
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: lot of space, but also with a toddler in my
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: mid in my for site, whatever you book, I.
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: Don't want those books to it up exactly now, I
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: totally understand I saw a book I was actually talking
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: to a publisher to date about a uh A FOC
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: date and an in store date and all of that.
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: And it's a book that I have known has been
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: coming out soon, but I also know I will say this,
- 1:03:53Speaker 3: I'm not going to give out the actual title. It's
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: a coffee table book. Amberlin is only one years old.
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: She's about to turn two in literally two weeks. Every
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: single piece of paper that is in our living room
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: has been crumpled, ripped in half, thrown, stepped on it.
- 1:04:15Speaker 3: It would not survive as a coffee book table I
- 1:04:18Speaker 3: mean as a coffee coffee table book. I put those
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: two words backwards. Yeah, it would not survive. So I'm
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: just like, that's just gonna have to wait. I'm gonna
- 1:04:29Speaker 3: have to wait until I can possibly trust her or
- 1:04:33Speaker 3: probably never. So that's very sad.
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: Yeah. I so you can't really tell, but I rearranged
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: my shelves to put all the Star Wars books on
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: higher shelves because you can't find hardcover Star Wars books anywhere.
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: About six months after publication.
- 1:04:53Speaker 3: Yeah one, I'm still looking for the Eye of Darkness.
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: Really.
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: Yeah, do you know I was moving to Indiana during
- 1:05:04Speaker 3: the release of I Have Darkness?
- 1:05:06Speaker 4: Yeah, the week the week I got here, I saw
- 1:05:10Speaker 4: it at a target shelf on the shelf at Target,
- 1:05:15Speaker 4: but it was not.
- 1:05:18Speaker 3: Smart for me to purchase it. Abby told me that.
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: I told myself that, and I said, hey, I will
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: grab it some other time. And I am pretty sure
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: I still do not have it. I'm pretty sure.
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: Amazon says it.
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: Oh really, yeah, I am.
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: Going for five cents more than the paperback.
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: But is it Is it cheaper than what it was? Yeah, boom,
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: I'm getting it.
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: I think I paid twenty four dollars for it, so
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: oh yeah, oh so yes, very excited for this. I'm
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: so happy because I just read the High Republic Adventures
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: issues one through five, so I got that under my
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: belt and I was like, I was giddy the whole time.
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: And we're going to talk about that this month. I
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: don't know if it's going to be next week or
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: the week after, because we have to talk about that.
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: But yeah, yeah, with it.
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: Being a one shot, I think it'll be very easy
- 1:06:26Speaker 3: for us to kind of just squeeze in somewhere to
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: be abul.
- 1:06:29Speaker 2: Talk and it will be a little like disheartening because
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: obviously everything happens in stages, Like even though this is
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: a one shot, it's still happening over the course of
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: the rest of the series, and so they're going to
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: be an issue twelve, and I'm going to only have
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: read through issue five, but I'm going to read this
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: damn issue.
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: All right?
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: Are we ready to talk about episodes one through eleven
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: of season two of Young Jedi Adventures?
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: Yes, we are.
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: We're gonna go into our second ad break and we'll
- 1:07:06Speaker 2: be right back. So as so, we're not gonna go
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: through the whole entire story because each one of these
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: Young Jedi Adventures is four kids. They're little fifteen minute episodes,
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: two episodes and actual episodes it's about thirty minutes each,
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: but they're all like little lessons about like solving life's
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: problems and how to handle your emotions and fear and stuff.
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: So we're not gonna go into too much detail. However,
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: I will say we did get a new character this season.
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: His name is Wes.
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: I believe I need to ask you about Wes.
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: Yes, do you like him?
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: And when I say do you like him, I'm not
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: saying do you like him as a character. I'm saying
- 1:07:57Speaker 3: does he really add anything to the episodes that he's in?
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: Not really?
- 1:08:08Speaker 3: And I'm gonna be that guy I hate And again
- 1:08:16Speaker 3: I find it very important. We've talked about this before.
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: We care about the inclusion of others in the Star
- 1:08:26Speaker 3: Wars universe. I think it's very important. But I think
- 1:08:32Speaker 3: there is a huge mandate for companies like this. Hey,
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: we need this stereotype to be in the show, because
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: otherwise it's not you're talking about inclusion, but you're leaving
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: one important person out, the white guy. And that's kind
- 1:08:52Speaker 3: of all West is he's a white guy.
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: And not that there's not white people in Star Wars,
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: but you're telling me you couldn't have put like an
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: alien or something here.
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: Well, when you look at who we have in Young
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: Justice or Young Justice, Young Jedi Adventures, we have the
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: best of everything already. When I saw Wes in the
- 1:09:28Speaker 3: when I first started watching the show, because again we
- 1:09:31Speaker 3: have seen the like stills and everything online, I'm like, Okay,
- 1:09:37Speaker 3: there's going to be some sort of other Jedi. Okay,
- 1:09:40Speaker 3: is he's very tall, so he can't be the same age.
- 1:09:46Speaker 3: He's got to be some sort of either Jedi night
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: or padawan. We find out that he's a padawan.
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: Master Zia's Padawan, Master.
- 1:09:56Speaker 3: Zia's Padawan, and I'm like, okay, let's but as soon
- 1:10:02Speaker 3: as I saw him in the opening sequence, I'm like, oh,
- 1:10:08Speaker 3: he's gonna be a big part of the show. But
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: he's in like every four episodes.
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: He's in three episodes.
- 1:10:17Speaker 3: Well, I say every four episodes. There's almost twelve episodes.
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: And right, no, I was just given it an actual number.
- 1:10:24Speaker 3: Yeah, he's in. He's in three episodes. And as I said,
- 1:10:29Speaker 3: in like they introduced him as like, oh, I'm a Jedi,
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: I'm mister macho and you know, and again I think
- 1:10:43Speaker 3: there is usually I think even in season one there
- 1:10:50Speaker 3: was a youngling that was like this type of character
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: as as far as how he was introduced this like, oh,
- 1:10:56Speaker 3: I'm a Jedi, because there's always this sense of you
- 1:10:59Speaker 3: watch things like Spider Man, shows about DC so about Marvel,
- 1:11:03Speaker 3: You're always gonna have that character that's like, oh, I'm
- 1:11:06Speaker 3: a superhero, like look at me, like I'm cool. And yeah,
- 1:11:11Speaker 3: you see Wes and I think they're dealing with pirates
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: the very first episode, and I think it's the ongoing pirates.
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: I can't remember her name. The Gangles, yes, the Gangles, sorry,
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: and uh so, of course they have a reputation with
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: our regular occurring here, our hero trio the hero trio exactly,
- 1:11:44Speaker 3: and so like he shows up, he's like, oh, yeah,
- 1:11:46Speaker 3: I'm a Jedi, and she's like Jedi whatever, and then
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: she sees the rest of them, she's like, oh, it's
- 1:11:53Speaker 3: you guys again, Like they're more important to her. The
- 1:11:56Speaker 3: Young Wings are more important to her than this dude
- 1:11:59Speaker 3: this try to like act like mister macho. But overall,
- 1:12:04Speaker 3: I think it was just very odd to have Wes's
- 1:12:09Speaker 3: inclusion in these episodes because there is no massive like
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: importance to his character in those episodes, you know, whereas
- 1:12:25Speaker 3: when you see each of these episodes have like the
- 1:12:28Speaker 3: of course important lesson, you're learning something from the said
- 1:12:35Speaker 3: like character that's having that issue, Whereas in Wes's case,
- 1:12:42Speaker 3: he's just there and he's never a focal point of
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: importance as well, which is why I somehow also kind
- 1:12:53Speaker 3: of think in head cannon like tongue in cheeicly, like
- 1:12:56Speaker 3: the creators of Young Jedi Adventures got this mandate, Oh,
- 1:13:00Speaker 3: they want us to make a white dude. Okay, let's
- 1:13:02Speaker 3: put him in the most unimportant role in this show ever.
- 1:13:06Speaker 3: Okay boom. That's just how it feels.
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: Yeah, And like you could definitely say that because he
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: definitely feels like he's kind of like shoehorned in. But
- 1:13:18Speaker 2: I think if you like kind of putting it in
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: my head, like if you look at it with like
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: the Guardian protocols for instance, like you could potentially say, okay,
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: he was elevated Master's Yeo was required to take a
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: pad one like there's your excuse kind of thing. It's
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: not directly mentioned, but we do know that we are
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: now after a Light of the Jedi, and they have
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: got like actual mission attire, like they're updated to like
- 1:13:47Speaker 2: the dark brown leather m mission attire. So I do
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: find that interesting in a sense. But I did want
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: to kind of go back and talk about the end
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: of season one before we got into too much in
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: season two because we never got a chance to talk
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: about this because we thought it had ended, but then
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: they dropped like three more episodes. Oh that's right, Yeah,
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: And in those episodes, so we've seen Tabor Valdorum is
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: the main pirate, but we see another kid called Cyrus
- 1:14:26Speaker 2: and we find out that he's actually Tabor and he's
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: a prince on another planet. And I really kind of
- 1:14:34Speaker 2: got into the story. Actually there wasn't much connection, but
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: I found like that intriguing because we get to a
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: point where Kay's like, I recognized that move because they
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: had just gotten done sparring.
- 1:14:46Speaker 3: Sorry. Yeah, And.
- 1:14:50Speaker 2: Its identical.
- 1:14:53Speaker 3: I love Cyrus because I in in old school comics
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: and and it's it's slowly dying out in modern comics,
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: and it kind of makes me sad. But the idea
- 1:15:05Speaker 3: of a dual identity, the superhero having the everyday job
- 1:15:12Speaker 3: versus having his superhero job or their superhero job. So
- 1:15:17Speaker 3: Cyrus being this prince that's very much caring of his
- 1:15:22Speaker 3: home world, his planet, the village outside of his palace,
- 1:15:28Speaker 3: like the people, everything genuinely cares. And then you learn,
- 1:15:34Speaker 3: holy crap, this is the same guy who's been this
- 1:15:39Speaker 3: pirate that has been the thorn in our hero's side
- 1:15:43Speaker 3: for all of season one. Are you kidding me? Like
- 1:15:47Speaker 3: how how is this caring individual a pirate? And it's
- 1:15:52Speaker 3: again the stereotypical, like, oh, I've been a prince all
- 1:15:57Speaker 3: my life. There's nothing exciting going on, so I have
- 1:15:59Speaker 3: to I have to make the excitement, and he chose
- 1:16:03Speaker 3: to go the way of the pirate. It's fun. It
- 1:16:07Speaker 3: it really is just fun. And there's been moments even
- 1:16:11Speaker 3: in season one where they've had to work together and
- 1:16:15Speaker 3: it kind of hurts Cyrus in the episode that you're
- 1:16:20Speaker 3: talking about, because there's these moments where where other villains
- 1:16:25Speaker 3: are talking to the Young Wings and they're like, oh,
- 1:16:28Speaker 3: where is your friend Torbin And they're like, he's not
- 1:16:32Speaker 3: our friend, and like Cyrus is like, oh like it,
- 1:16:36Speaker 3: like you could see the physical reaction to him, Like
- 1:16:39Speaker 3: oh that kind of hurt. What the heck. So it's
- 1:16:44Speaker 3: it's a very endearing story and I genuinely love it.
- 1:16:48Speaker 3: I think it's one of my favorites of the Young
- 1:16:51Speaker 3: Jedi Adventures. I think one of my favorite characters. Also
- 1:16:59Speaker 3: talking about hero is Nash. Nash took a while to
- 1:17:05Speaker 3: grow on me. In season one Captain black Bolt, the
- 1:17:11Speaker 3: very first episode where Nash is talking about like the
- 1:17:15Speaker 3: legend of black Bolt and again talking about like getting
- 1:17:21Speaker 3: into the spooky season for Halloween. If you guys have
- 1:17:23Speaker 3: kids watched that first episode with Captain Blackbolt, I'll actually
- 1:17:28Speaker 3: look at the episode title. I think it's episode number five.
- 1:17:38Speaker 3: The Terror of Tenu is the first part of that episode,
- 1:17:42Speaker 3: and it is the Prince of Masks, But the Terror
- 1:17:46Speaker 3: of Tanu is quite possibly my favorite episode. Of season two,
- 1:17:52Speaker 3: but Nash is another character throughout all of season one,
- 1:17:56Speaker 3: and we see less of her in season two, which
- 1:18:04Speaker 3: I think it's because of Wes, but you know, it's
- 1:18:12Speaker 3: it is what it is, you know, I have to
- 1:18:14Speaker 3: accept that, and hopefully there's a nice balance between Nash
- 1:18:21Speaker 3: and West and season three or the second part of
- 1:18:25Speaker 3: season two, I hope.
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I think they definitely. I think they definitely tried
- 1:18:31Speaker 2: to lean more towards an overarching story at least with
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: like Tabor and Kai through this, which is kind of
- 1:18:39Speaker 2: why we see less of the like, oh, Nash will
- 1:18:43Speaker 2: transport you to this planet and like bring you back
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: kind of thing, which is where we end up because
- 1:18:48Speaker 2: the episodes where that Wes is primarily in, they're either
- 1:18:52Speaker 2: not traveling or they're traveling. You don't see the travel sequence.
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: So yeah, I think probably my favorite episode was actually
- 1:19:03Speaker 2: episode seven with the Andraven circuit and oh my gosh,
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: I can't remember his name, but it's like the ones
- 1:19:12Speaker 2: with the Welgrens and the kid is doing his ancestral
- 1:19:18Speaker 2: circuit and they oh, the.
- 1:19:22Speaker 3: The with the flute, yeah, with the with the wolf. Yeah.
- 1:19:28Speaker 2: That I just found super endearing because that's totally me.
- 1:19:32Speaker 2: I would go out and be like, I researched this.
- 1:19:34Speaker 2: I have a computer, like it's got my path and
- 1:19:37Speaker 2: it's it's so me.
- 1:19:39Speaker 3: Me and Amberlin were watching this episode, uh actually right
- 1:19:44Speaker 3: before we were started recording, and in my mind I'm like,
- 1:19:49Speaker 3: because there's a moment where he actually tells the young
- 1:19:54Speaker 3: Wings like, oh, we can't use the force because my
- 1:19:57Speaker 3: ancestors didn't use the force. And in my head, I'm like,
- 1:20:00Speaker 3: you're using a data pad. What are you talking about?
- 1:20:04Speaker 3: Like you're such a hypocrite. And then later on in
- 1:20:07Speaker 3: the episode, Kai tells him like, well, your ancestors didn't
- 1:20:11Speaker 3: have a data pad, so even though it's broken, you
- 1:20:14Speaker 3: should be fine, like let's go, you know, find this whatever.
- 1:20:20Speaker 3: And I was like, finally somebody speaks some truth into
- 1:20:24Speaker 3: this kid. That one was really really cute. I I
- 1:20:29Speaker 3: really did enjoy that episode as well. We did get
- 1:20:33Speaker 3: another appearance.
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: Of a character that we know in Love Moms Kannada. Yes, yes,
- 1:20:45Speaker 2: oh you were talking about somebody else.
- 1:20:47Speaker 5: Yeah, I was talking about Oh my gosh, the name
- 1:20:57Speaker 5: has literally.
- 1:21:00Speaker 3: Escaped me. Episode two. Oh Bell Bell Gosh. I was like,
- 1:21:09Speaker 3: why can I not remember his name? We did see
- 1:21:12Speaker 3: Bell again in very early in this season.
- 1:21:18Speaker 2: I honestly forgot about that because I watched that last
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: week and my WEEKND was just insane.
- 1:21:25Speaker 3: So, yeah, we saw another appearance of Bell. There was
- 1:21:29Speaker 3: another Jedi in.
- 1:21:34Speaker 2: Oh gosh, there was about two episode with those two.
- 1:21:40Speaker 3: So no, no, there was another black human that I
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: thought was Bell again, but he was apparently a Jedi
- 1:21:49Speaker 3: master and he also.
- 1:21:51Speaker 2: Has So that's the Bat two episode.
- 1:21:53Speaker 3: Okay, it was the Bat two episode.
- 1:21:55Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, Master Drew, I think it is his name.
- 1:22:00Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, when when? Oh that was? That was the
- 1:22:03Speaker 3: episode where the little girl was. Yeah, that was a
- 1:22:10Speaker 3: good one. That was so good. I love that one
- 1:22:13Speaker 3: as well. Trying to think of there was any other
- 1:22:19Speaker 3: episodes that really stood out to me more Wookies is
- 1:22:24Speaker 3: always the best. There was the uh uh Life Day Feast,
- 1:22:31Speaker 3: and that is actually Life Day has been a episode
- 1:22:36Speaker 3: for each season. Now. I wonder if that's gonna be
- 1:22:39Speaker 3: something that we see throughout the history of this show
- 1:22:42Speaker 3: is every season we'll have a Life Day episode.
- 1:22:45Speaker 2: I love getting like and everybody like some people like
- 1:22:51Speaker 2: to make fun of the Life Day stuff because of
- 1:22:53Speaker 2: the Star Wars Holiday special, like that's where it literally
- 1:22:56Speaker 2: came from. But you know, like there's just such a
- 1:22:59Speaker 2: like element of like nostalgia to it where you're like,
- 1:23:03Speaker 2: this is amazing.
- 1:23:05Speaker 3: Well not only that, but you have this idea of
- 1:23:08Speaker 3: in our days of television, there were shows that had
- 1:23:16Speaker 3: your annual Christmas episode and Halloween episode and all of
- 1:23:20Speaker 3: these other things, and you can't really have that with
- 1:23:23Speaker 3: Star Wars because yes they have holidays, but nothing has
- 1:23:27Speaker 3: been like super concrete established. So you have things like
- 1:23:32Speaker 3: life Day, which is like, hey, like this is a
- 1:23:35Speaker 3: reoccurring thing. It's the easiest thing to do with the
- 1:23:39Speaker 3: probably the less amount of work, so let's just do it,
- 1:23:43Speaker 3: you know. So I think it's I think it's very
- 1:23:47Speaker 3: nice as well. The fact that they had both episodes
- 1:23:53Speaker 3: with this ceremony of the Wookies, I think is very nice.
- 1:23:58Speaker 3: It's a reoccurring thing as well. Trying to think of
- 1:24:03Speaker 3: some other things with Nubs. Nubs has is always a
- 1:24:07Speaker 3: great character, Yeah, for for somebody who of course is
- 1:24:16Speaker 3: is uh like verbal and non verbal at the same time,
- 1:24:20Speaker 3: like he you can definitely hear words come out of
- 1:24:24Speaker 3: his mouth sometimes, but most of the time he is
- 1:24:27Speaker 3: speaking a completely different language. Uh yeah, I.
- 1:24:32Speaker 2: What's his name. Oh my gosh, I can't think of
- 1:24:33Speaker 2: his name. It's oh de Bradley Baker does an incredible job.
- 1:24:41Speaker 3: Oh yes, mm hmm uh. But I I love Nubs
- 1:24:47Speaker 3: as an all spectrum of the emotion, like all like
- 1:24:52Speaker 3: all around the emotional spectrum. You see Nubs. Nubs gets angry,
- 1:24:56Speaker 3: he gets scared, he gets he's brave, he drooping like
- 1:25:03Speaker 3: I think, like there's there's an episode I think it
- 1:25:05Speaker 3: is the episode with uh with Cyrus in it where
- 1:25:13Speaker 3: uh he they all get captured and like Nubs is
- 1:25:20Speaker 3: like super frustrated and he just like goes like this
- 1:25:23Speaker 3: and they're like, Nubs, You're free, and Nubs like looks
- 1:25:27Speaker 3: at his hands like, oh okay, cool. And it's so
- 1:25:29Speaker 3: funny because you see right off the bat in the
- 1:25:32Speaker 3: opening sequence in season one and in season two he
- 1:25:36Speaker 3: has super strength because of his species. He just has
- 1:25:40Speaker 3: super strength and he forgets about it all the time,
- 1:25:43Speaker 3: which I think is absolutely hilarious because he's so small.
- 1:25:47Speaker 3: I think it's hilarious and.
- 1:25:49Speaker 2: He actually has like a little episode on his own. Actually,
- 1:25:54Speaker 2: Nubs is big mistake where he actually he and Yoda
- 1:25:58Speaker 2: find a old lightsaber from a Poobian Jedi yeah. Yeah,
- 1:26:06Speaker 2: and like you see like this big like Teddy Bear,
- 1:26:09Speaker 2: creatures like Hue, like this big dude.
- 1:26:12Speaker 3: I need I need more of that species. I think
- 1:26:16Speaker 3: if we were to get more of them, because we
- 1:26:19Speaker 3: haven't seen like even in this show, we have not
- 1:26:22Speaker 3: seen another Pubian at all. Uh So I would really
- 1:26:28Speaker 3: like to see it being established, whether that be in
- 1:26:32Speaker 3: more of the High Republic comics or even in a
- 1:26:36Speaker 3: novel of some kind, like I like again, I I,
- 1:26:41Speaker 3: for one, you have now established that the race is
- 1:26:44Speaker 3: not all but lost with with nubs because there was
- 1:26:47Speaker 3: a Jedi at some point of the same species. But
- 1:26:51Speaker 3: don't make Nubs like Yoda and Groku like, oh it's
- 1:26:56Speaker 3: one in a million, you know, like I want more.
- 1:27:00Speaker 3: They're cute and funny and I want more.
- 1:27:03Speaker 2: Yeah, that's really all I had that I thought this
- 1:27:09Speaker 2: season did a really good job. Oh the I forgot.
- 1:27:12Speaker 2: There is one thing that I greatly appreciated, and that's
- 1:27:15Speaker 2: that they're going back to planets and people that they've
- 1:27:19Speaker 2: already visited. Yes, and it's not like the Bad Batch,
- 1:27:22Speaker 2: because that was something that was an issue I had
- 1:27:24Speaker 2: with The Bad Batch, where it was like where we
- 1:27:27Speaker 2: had team building episodes, but they were always to a
- 1:27:31Speaker 2: new planet. Like, I appreciate that these kids are going
- 1:27:34Speaker 2: back to the same planets and building relationships because I
- 1:27:38Speaker 2: think that's an important thing for kids to do, is
- 1:27:42Speaker 2: like not just skip around and go like, oh, well,
- 1:27:44Speaker 2: I'll just make a new friend somewhere else, like don't
- 1:27:46Speaker 2: forget about the people you left behind.
- 1:27:48Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it's it's it's very very fun. There's
- 1:27:52Speaker 3: reoccurring villains as well, Like we said, uh, some of
- 1:27:56Speaker 3: the same pirates. There is also a building relationship with
- 1:27:59Speaker 3: them as well, but also the again, the new villains
- 1:28:06Speaker 3: also became reoccurring. Captain Blackbolt, I don't know where. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:28:12Speaker 3: it showed up and I was like, oh, because even
- 1:28:14Speaker 3: Kai was like I thought, Nash, you know, threw you
- 1:28:18Speaker 3: on the other side of the galaxy and it's the
- 1:28:21Speaker 3: most comic bookie answer ever. But he's like, oh, I
- 1:28:24Speaker 3: fixed my ship and I was able to get back.
- 1:28:26Speaker 3: It's like, what, let's just go with that then. So yeah, overall,
- 1:28:33Speaker 3: I am really enjoying this show. I think it's even
- 1:28:37Speaker 3: more of a fun experience that like amber Lyn can
- 1:28:41Speaker 3: sit right next to me and actually pay attention to
- 1:28:44Speaker 3: this show. It's very colorful, it's very bright. I will
- 1:28:48Speaker 3: say I think the animation has improved one hundred percent
- 1:28:52Speaker 3: on this show. If you look back at season one
- 1:28:55Speaker 3: in season two, there is just something about the rendering
- 1:28:59Speaker 3: on Sea and two that just looks so crisp and
- 1:29:02Speaker 3: so good. I actually really love the animation of the show.
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: Yeah, it looks really good. But I think that's about it.
- 1:29:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I think so as well. So guys, you can
- 1:29:16Speaker 3: always find me at Fanboy Play on Twitter and any
- 1:29:20Speaker 3: and all social media. I will say I've been a
- 1:29:22Speaker 3: little bit more active on Twitter. Like I said in
- 1:29:26Speaker 3: the beginning of the show, I have been doing a
- 1:29:29Speaker 3: lot of content creation for the video game Marvel Snap.
- 1:29:32Speaker 3: It is a mobile game where you create decks and
- 1:29:37Speaker 3: play and stuff. I have had a lot of fun
- 1:29:43Speaker 3: making those decks, making the graphics for them, and having
- 1:29:45Speaker 3: a lot of community interaction on Twitter and going semi viral.
- 1:29:51Speaker 3: I will say that, you know, forty eight thousand views,
- 1:29:56Speaker 3: I think is pretty fun. Not going to do my
- 1:29:58Speaker 3: own horn and such, but you know, it's it's I
- 1:30:02Speaker 3: will tell you the euphoria of working really hard and
- 1:30:05Speaker 3: then seeing that a lot of people are actually looking
- 1:30:08Speaker 3: at it and liking it and stuff like that. It's
- 1:30:11Speaker 3: fun and it's the it's the poison of the Internet,
- 1:30:14Speaker 3: and I will say I'm addicted to it. It's fun.
- 1:30:17Speaker 3: But uh yeah, if you if you are into that
- 1:30:20Speaker 3: kind of content and you want to see that content,
