- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: What's up, everybody?
- 0:01[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome, guy here.
- 0:02[SPEAKER_00]: We are exactly three weeks from the first Sunday, the NFL season as I record this on Sunday afternoon.
- 0:07[SPEAKER_00]: To kick your week off in your podcast feed on Mondays.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_00]: And I got a lot of my mind from the preseason game.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_00]: Other stuff, though, because I, you know, preseason game reactions, twenty four, thirty six hours later.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm back from Vegas.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_00]: Got some rest on Saturday night after I got home around ten PM.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_00]: doing some laundry, getting some electrolytes.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_00]: The Mojave Desert is no joke.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_00]: The Raiders used to practice in Napa, California.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_00]: The Napa Marriott, Squeeze and Burger.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_00]: Napa, California over at Redwood Middle School.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_00]: And now they've got a beautiful facility in the Mojave Desert.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Niners joined practice on Thursday.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it has to be the hottest day.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: They'll spend playing football this year, a Legion Stadium, beautiful stadium.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_00]: We got a great vantage point, a bunch of Raiders, a lumber's Raider alumni day.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: I'll say this.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I use it's talking to somebody who's been a lot of time at the Oakland Coliseum for Raider games and walking through the parking lot.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_00]: And there is just something about the Raider music.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_00]: The NFL films music, the Star Wars music, whatever that the March of the Sith throughout, I don't know enough of the Star Wars guy to know, but their plan I'm music and their intro video in the stadium is pretty sweet.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: It's like Charles Woodson and Max Crosby and they, one of them, like their hand, starts to dust away, becomes dust and just a skeleton hand and then it's just like all these old raided.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: The video is awesome.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_00]: Honestly, and this is not taken as sincerely, what the video's missing is Greg Popp is voice.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_00]: like calling like greater highlights.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of crazy.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_00]: It's too bad that that's too bad.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_00]: But anyway, it was a nice time in Vegas.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, here's what I'm thinking about today, especially because for a lot of you, you know, the preseason game of Saturday night, Jake Moody wanted on a walk off.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_00]: I don't understand.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_00]: I don't understand.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_00]: I don't understand why the NFL's digital streams.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_00]: It's always just the home team.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_00]: And it was this way for me, you know, it's I just sound self-serving and it is, but it's not why I'm saying this.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, like Major League Baseball, you could figure out how to, you can watch any both TV broadcasts, both radio broadcasts on the stream.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_00]: It's been like that as long as I've had an MLB ten years more.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_00]: But the NFL doesn't give you that flexibility, what to watch.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_00]: So, I don't know, the NFL plus, you know, that's what I'm talking about that part's weird.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, here's what I'm thinking about, to start the week.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_00]: The NFL, top one, a hundred list,
- 3:19[SPEAKER_00]: on starting on Monday is going to go from thirty to twenty one.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_00]: You know, every year it's a player vote, the top one hundred.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: It brought pretty is not on this list.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_00]: They've gotten through thirty one.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_00]: George Kittle was thirty first.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, Brock pretty is not going to be on the NFL one hundred.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: I know it's not the BL end all, but, you know, just a reminder that some people want to turn
- 3:47[SPEAKER_00]: the debate about Brock Perty into some like media conversation, the players
- 3:54[SPEAKER_00]: are not voting in the top one hundred.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: Now, how good of a cross section of players is it how many players really vote?
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, this is information and we'd love to have.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_00]: How many guys from each team?
- 4:05[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you don't require to vote.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_00]: They just hand out some ballots that I don't know how long ago.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_00]: But last year, Brock Perty was twenty-eight on the NFL top one hundred list.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_00]: CJ Stroud was twenty-a-th deck press got was sixteen.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_00]: Um, you know, this year deck, but CJ Strowd and deck press got its time has already come and gone on the top one hundred list, deck fell sixty some spots.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_00]: Baker is fifth year.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: CJ Strowd's thirty ninth.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_00]: Um, on this list down from nineteen last year.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_00]: Stafford's fifty ninth down from seventeen.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_00]: So Bonyx.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_00]: is sixty-four.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think Bonix is better.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_00]: He's a better athlete.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: He's a, he's a better physical prospect.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think he's a better quarterback than Brock Perti's sixty-four.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_00]: But, but, but, but, but either the players.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_00]: So this, either the players think he's a top thirty player after last year.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: Either he was twenty eight last year and somehow went up or maintained his position after a six win season seems unlikely or
- 5:16[SPEAKER_00]: He's not in the top one hundred.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, the fact that Bosa's thirty one, no, no, sorry, kills thirty one.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_00]: Bosa, I don't remember.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_00]: We're both at Bosa, both we're Bosa is on this list.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_00]: Boota Baker, is this this year's list?
- 5:33[SPEAKER_00]: Bosa's fifty seventh.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Justin Herbert's fifty six, A and Hutchinson, fifty fifth.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_00]: A and Hutchinson's not going fifty fifth and NFL draft.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_00]: He's going higher than that.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_00]: But the League of Spoken, Sam Donald's, seventy second, Christian McCaffrey, seventy-third.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_00]: This is not a Brock party taking over about to say, we might need to check who voted.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, two is ninety first.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_00]: You don't hear me come for a recount on that one.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, crazy, crazy.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not here to debate it.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I am here to do all kinds of things at YouTube, but for the purpose of this conversation, I just want to point out when people say, oh, it's just, you guys, you don't get over the players.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: The players, George Kittle, thirty first.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_00]: You don't win games.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's another part of this lesson here, but Brock pretty, I'm being a top one hundred player.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_00]: Take note, not a chip guy, shoulder not Kelly, not a big chip guy, but a little bit of a chip maybe silent chip.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_00]: I think Brock, I'm not sure if he's following this one, but you know, when players are a high, like they notice.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_00]: So I think Brock is a silent chip guy, probably, which I
- 7:04[SPEAKER_00]: That's more of my style, you know, only a small group of people know how you really feel about some things.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, Brock's not on it.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_00]: Unless I will be stunned.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: I did a video several weeks ago about, oh, we're sprocketing to be, fifty, six, sixty.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, at this point, either the only thing that we'll put them on this list now is that the players think he's
- 7:29[SPEAKER_00]: after a six win season better because he was twenty eight last year.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_00]: So the brag parties were getting left off.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: The NFL top one hundred list.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_00]: I think we can we can say that.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_00]: Who what guy on the four days is most likely to not be on this list be back next year.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_00]: I'd say Brock is one but Ricky Pierce all.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_00]: I'm telling you.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you got to see it now.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_00]: Thankfully, everyone got to see it that first drive of the first.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_00]: The the first drive of the radar game three catches.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_00]: You know.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_00]: I think the racers are great.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_00]: They're in a really tough spot.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_00]: The FC West this year is the only division in the history of the sport that enters a year with all four coaches having been to a Super Bowl, Peyton Reed, Carallol, one-one, Jim Harbaugh.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_00]: was going to be an NFL coach for extended period of time.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_00]: Not one one is we don't know.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_00]: He's bringing his chargers into town.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: Train Lance coming in to Levi's on Saturday, five, thirty.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_00]: Kick off all have the call.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_00]: That game fell in and for pop again on that one.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_00]: But, um, read your soul.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I, uh, the way I said it before the game and I said it for a couple of weeks.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_00]: There's just a line.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: He's above the line.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: When you watch a guy practice, when you watch team drill, whatever you watch, and is that a real pro?
- 8:38[SPEAKER_00]: Ricky Pierce also real pro.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_00]: And then,
- 8:41[SPEAKER_00]: He translated the game.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_00]: He translated the game.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_00]: He's a real pro.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_00]: And I think part of his health is critical is just him and Brock getting on the same page.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_00]: I think Tim Ryan made that point during the game.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_00]: They had a third down on that first drive in the red zone.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_00]: and they weren't on the same page.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, that's really important because this is gonna be the best receiver on the team for at least half the season.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_00]: Democracy Robinson, I think, is really good, but he's not gonna, you know, likelihood we're still waiting to be available early in the year.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_00]: I know there's some of this, like, oh, did you see how you grinning around?
- 9:16[SPEAKER_00]: I saw me, Oko say that wasn't allowed.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_00]: He's not allowed to be out there running around.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, there's a lot of that, like, oh, I, you look close.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_00]: No, he does.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he's, I don't know.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_00]: I think people expected to be in a wheelchair or be in a brace.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_00]: You know, he got hurt week seven last year.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_00]: It's been a while since that surgery and it's also going to be a while till he comes back.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_00]: I know Kyle Shanahan said
- 9:42[SPEAKER_00]: We sick people took that shenanigan quote last week.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_00]: He said, oh, a week six.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_00]: He was just saying, week six.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I started thinking about.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe a guy could come back him, malloc, Mustafa, but that's later.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe a week, twelve.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_00]: I, you know, the Niners play week five on the.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_00]: I used that eligible to come back for the first four weeks.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_00]: Then they play week five against the Rams.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_00]: I think I heard Kawakami or Barrows make this points a good point.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you're not going to bring him back on a short week.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_00]: So maybe that's why Kyle said week six.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm not saying he's not back week six.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just saying him running around right now is just not a head of schedule.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_00]: He's not it's just it's good.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_00]: It's good.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_00]: I'm happy to see him.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_00]: I think I actually am pretty optimistic.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's going to be good and helpful.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_00]: And has a chance to get back to his old self.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_00]: He looks to me as he's out there with his teammates to be in a good place.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: So
- 10:33[SPEAKER_00]: You know, projecting a little bit, hoping a little bit, I don't know, but that's, that's how it seems.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_00]: So the Ricky Purcell is going to be the number one guy.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_00]: And at some point, John Jennings is going to come back because he's going to have to and provide it.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_00]: He's healthy enough to do it, which is a question.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, Ricky Purcell is going to be the dude.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_00]: And he's going to, he's going to, I'll tell you where the injuries.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_00]: I know the defense of Dominic Poonie, the right guard getting hurt, not good.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_00]: Corey Kiner.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_00]: the running back, you know, less impactful than dominant puny's injury, but a high ankle sprain, I think was the prognosis.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_00]: So at least a month, you know, he had to really, like Jordan Wattkins had one, but he didn't have to get helped off the way that Corey Conner did.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe in the end, I'm not trying to be class-half.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just thinking it out.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_00]: Like he was on the roster bubble and he's a guy you like.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_00]: He want to lose him and maybe in the end it means that
- 11:33[SPEAKER_00]: You know, who make the team, but after he's healthy, better chance of keeping him after the entry perhaps than if he was going to have to clear waivers.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a quote, Cody, Cody Schrader got claimed last year and by the Rams, and I think this guy's better than him.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_00]: So unlikely that if you'd put him through waivers and my opinion that he was going to clear it, Ashton, Gentie, speaking of running backs.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_00]: Now, as many of you may know or may have, as many of you have probably forgotten, that might be a good way to say something.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_00]: I used, I sell a long time ago.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_00]: I am a Heisman voter.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_00]: I voted for Travis Hunter.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_00]: I really took it seriously.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_00]: I really, I think you vote digitally.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_00]: It's like a Deloitte, you know, digital, what you call it, ballot, portal.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_00]: And I really thought a lot about it.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_00]: I struggled with it because I thought Ash and Jente was a highman where the ultimate lab voted for Travis Hunter.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_00]: I've not really seen anything like him.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you go back to Charles Woodson or whatever, but different.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_00]: So I voted for, but Ash and not because I didn't love Ash and Jente.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_00]: He looks
- 12:48[SPEAKER_00]: See him in person.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_00]: I've seen him.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_00]: I did a boysy stay game.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_00]: I've seen him in person.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes, you know, you see a guy in person in college and then you see him in person in the NFL and the size he looks different.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_00]: Not Ash and Jente.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_00]: Ash and Jente looks just as big, bigger on an NFL field.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_00]: He probably is bigger since I last saw him.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_00]: He he belongs.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_00]: He looks like an absolute terror to try and tackle.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_00]: He got hurt yesterday or Saturday on a tackle from Tatum Bethune when he hit them.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_00]: The Niners linebacker who's looked good.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_00]: But he is, it's going to work.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_00]: You know, Chip Kelly loves the run game, Pete Carroll loves the run game.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think they're going to be very good.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_00]: Their best receiver is Jacobi Myers.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_00]: You know, he had a thousand yard season last year, but somebody has to, but you know, Carlos Hyderlant's almost ran for a thousand yards for Chip Kelly in the forty-nine or so.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_00]: But that guy is a power system monster.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_00]: What a disappointment that Brock Byrest didn't go to.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_00]: And then he had to go to the SEC that the West Coast schools couldn't keep napasone, Brock Bows around as a raider.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_00]: Jake Moody, fifty-nine yarder.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_00]: You know, he missed the kick early.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_00]: The twenty-six yard kick also was close.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun to see their reaction.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_00]: Everyone's got an opinion.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_00]: It's a mental seems to be the prevailing opinion.
- 14:24[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_00]: That's just the clearly the prevailing opinion.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_00]: I don't, I'm not saying it's not the case.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just not sure that it is the case.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you go back to the last year, the ball flight is the thing that's perplexing.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_00]: It, it, it, the ball is like, just jumps all over the place.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_00]: He can kill it.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, remember he reduced his approach from three steps to two, any, that fifty nine yard of that he hit.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_00]: had plenty of luck.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it got to the net.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_00]: But even as I was watching it live and it's tough, a calling game winning field goals and I saw a lot of you on YouTube reacted that you wanted to see mine.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_00]: You do your interest in seeing the spotting board.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_00]: that I use for games.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_00]: So I think we'll I'll do that maybe with the Charger one next week that I forgot and I ripped the radar as soon as the games over I ripped the thing apart and throw it away because I for road games at the board it's a thick board and I break it into four pieces.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_00]: I put it together take it apart put it in the suitcase.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_00]: But game winning field goals are real or field goals in general are hard to call because.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_00]: You know, if you're watching just the field, you can see the distance.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_00]: But it's hard to see left or right.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_00]: So you're waiting on the officials or you're trying to eyeball it.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_00]: You don't want to be wrong on that.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_00]: So then like my operations, I watch it get off clean.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_00]: Then I look down to the monitor, which is going to have the view from behind.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_00]: But this kick is so long that the camera is has to kind of like pull back.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_00]: And you just want to be sure.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_00]: So I probably didn't say he got it till it hit the net.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_00]: I watched the officials put their arms up.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_00]: I probably could have said it earlier.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_00]: But as I'm watching it on the as I take my eyes off the field and I look down to the monitor.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, because the camera's pulling back the uprights are just starting to come into view as the ball is coming at that camera that's behind me the uprights.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_00]: You can't really tell like you see his ball sometimes it looks.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_00]: like it's going and then it and then it jumps.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_00]: So I was holding my breath a little bit by good for him.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he drilled it especially given that he'd missed one early in the game.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, he kicks long kicks.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_00]: So sometimes he's on, he's in a position to try and kick a long one.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_00]: And they put him in a lot of those spots because that's what you drafted him and part four.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_00]: You know, the only, not the only other thing but the other thing I'll say is
- 16:57[SPEAKER_00]: But as always, if you're talking about replacing a kicker, you've got to have a good option.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_00]: And I know there was a lot of Greg Joseph, you know, well, this is going to be a competition.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_00]: And it was close.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, for whatever type of competition it was, it was close.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_00]: But I just keep going back to, you know, Greg Joseph missed four extra point.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_00]: It was sixteen to twenty and extra points last year.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_00]: So if somebody else is the other guy,
- 17:26[SPEAKER_00]: If they're ever at a point where they're cutting moody to look for somebody else, the other guy is going to have a sketchy track record too.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_00]: Just, you know, so it's the idea of like, well, there's something else better.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe there is, because the counter would be, well, there's only thirty two, no teams carrying two of them.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_00]: So that means there's probably good ones available.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_00]: We see it all the time happen, guys get cut, go on to have a good career somewhere else.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that ball was.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_00]: I was, I, I so played that call just because I wanted to be sure.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_00]: Speaking of special teams, I don't want to get too granular, but waitin' for Junior Bergen to flash.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_00]: You know, they, they had one good return.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_00]: I think this is just me talking, I've not talked to Tim Ryan or anybody else about this other than like, hey Tim, here's my opinion.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_00]: But you just go through the,
- 18:25[SPEAKER_00]: because that's why I like to sit down with football guy Tim Ryan and spew my opinions at him.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_00]: Speaking, I thought I was a football guy.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_00]: I knew I was nothing in nowhere near Tim's caliber of football guy.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you want to know how a football guy mixes his coffee.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_00]: I learned on Saturday during the game when I looked over to see Tim Ryan, true football guy mixing his coffee.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_00]: You know, dump some sugar, whatever.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't see what he dumped.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_00]: Sharpie, you use your Sharpie.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_00]: That's how a football guy mixes stars coffee.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_00]: Sharpie, so there you go.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_00]: Next time you grind in some tape, pull out a Sharpie and mix your coffee.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_00]: I think Junior Burgers got a flash.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, this team, the advantage to anybody trying to make the forty-nineers ever seever has is, you know, no IU, Cowings started practicing last week, so maybe he'll play in the preseason game this week.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_00]: But the roster's tight because of all the injuries that they have, it really limits your luxury items, right?
- 19:32[SPEAKER_00]: Unfortunately, his special teamers are luxury items.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_00]: Um, thirty three saran nail.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_00]: Like, that's, these are really, you go back and look at this history.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_00]: I mentioned him before the game, player to watch, there, two thousand special team snaps.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_00]: He's not going to get a lot of, you know, a lot of attention here.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_00]: We're not going to talk about it a lot, but like that's a critical player.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_00]: Well, Junior Bergen, if he's not going to get on the field as a receiver, which it doesn't, at this point, it's not shaping up that he would.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_00]: Um,
- 20:04[SPEAKER_00]: The things got to be dynamic in the return game.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_00]: And to this point, the Niners and two Preseason games, and I know you're not really a brand boy.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_00]: You're not really scheming it.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_00]: You want to hold some stuff back.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_00]: How dynamic is the dynamic kickoff really?
- 20:21[SPEAKER_00]: You know, there's a lot of people running around.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not sure it's more dynamic.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_00]: I know there were more touchdowns last year.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was seven, the previous kick, the previous kick off return for touchdown number was four in the NFL that year before.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_00]: But there's just not a lot of juice for the riders on the return game right now.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, they used to pick on them, which is fine.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_00]: They've done very well in the seventh round, even if you don't count per day.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_00]: And when they did it, it was like, hey, this is the guy that, you know, I wonder, you know, one thing we don't talk about, how much adjustment is it does your good college kick return or translate?
- 21:02[SPEAKER_00]: It's a different return.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_00]: You catch the ball the same way.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_00]: I guess you run up to it the same way.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_00]: Are the holes different?
- 21:11[SPEAKER_00]: The coverage has to be different.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, the whole thing's different.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, I haven't talked.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_00]: I haven't asked about that, but that's, I wonder what it's like for these kickers now coming in the last two years in the NFL.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_00]: These kicker turners coming in the last two years.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_00]: Is it a totally different skill?
- 21:26[SPEAKER_00]: Is it a similar skill?
- 21:28[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, I think Saturday's probably a big day for him.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_00]: The try and make a player too.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_00]: And get himself on the roster.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_00]: Saturday, the return.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_00]: For those of you who are not on the internet, which is none of you, if you're watching on YouTube.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_00]: But no, I would say, when I say on the internet, I mean like grind in socials, you know, watching YouTube is just like turning on the TV now.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_00]: Listen to a podcast is just like turning on the radio now.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of this trail and spuzz.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_00]: I mentioned it last week.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_00]: It's Lewis Riddick at a strong take.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_00]: He's back.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_00]: He's coming.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_00]: He made some really nice throws this week.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm interested to see him in person.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_00]: Him and Harbs.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_00]: Chugs on.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_00]: Embarrassing.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_00]: During the game on the TV broadcast, Tim Ryan made a comment about a play, a collision between a defensive back and a receiver within the first five yards, a line of scrimmage where you can throw hands.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_00]: And he said something about the Chuck Zone.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_00]: And I said, on the air, I'm sorry, did you say the Chuck Zone?
- 22:56[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I thought he said.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_00]: And he said no more on.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_00]: I said Chuck Zone.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_00]: And that was dead in the water at that point, not no real direction, nowhere to go.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_00]: But Tim's a great teammate, and we made something out of nothing there.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_00]: And I actually, some of the great inventions are accidental chugs on should be a thing.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_00]: Chugs on is pretty self-explanatory and involves beer drinking.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_00]: I told the guys, like, I first ran at the Chuck Zones on me.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know what kind of football term that would be.
- 23:37[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe somebody can help me out with what that would be as a football term, but Chuck Zones.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_00]: What else?
- 23:44[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's kind of the, that's, oh, I did see, you know, interesting.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_00]: Kyle didn't call plays again.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_00]: I was watching on Sunday, some of the charges Rams game for the weekend.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_00]: Not only did McVay not call plays.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_00]: And this is clever.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_00]: McVay went into the coaching booth yesterday.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_00]: Sean McVay, he did this last year as well, had one of his assistants, it was the same guy, run the game.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_00]: But McVay goes up to the coaching booth, which is really interesting.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_00]: I wonder if he sees things differently, communicates differently.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it reminds me a little bit of what's that show undercover boss.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_00]: I always think the CEO, you know, has worked at every level of businesses, started in the mail room.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_00]: That's, I mean, it's a great way to be to know what it's like, at least to go back and understand what people on the line are experiencing.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, I thought it was a cool little thing that McVade did.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_00]: Will the A's ever get to Vegas?
- 24:58[SPEAKER_00]: Find question.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_00]: I will report to you.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_00]: There's some skepticism among Vigacyans.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_00]: But we'll see.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_00]: That's all for this.
- 25:16[SPEAKER_00]: And I'll talk to you soon.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks for hanging.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_00]: Let everybody.
