- 0:00Coming up. On this week's episode of hip Hop Now podcast, my thoughts
- 0:05on Drake's new EP Deluxe whatever you want to call it, Scary Hours three,
- 0:13legendary producer Eric Summon says that hip hop is stuck in one place and
- 0:20three Stacks is back Andre three thousand, He's back. Bring your flute though,
- 0:28we'll talk about it. Let's do it. Welcome to japp Now,
- 0:35pot Fats from the future. You know what to do? Show ass out
- 0:42about that. Don't disrespect the leg back hip hop is. Say this today,
- 0:51escae right to the business. What up, y'all? I am your
- 0:54host Vegas and this hip Hop Now podcasting podcast specifically to keep you caught up
- 1:00on all things hip hop, music and culture that happened throughout the week.
- 1:04Big shout out to the supporters over at patreon dot com slash hip Hop Now.
- 1:10The link to your questions is in the description of this episode, fifty
- 1:17years of hip Hop. We must keep saying that because the end of this
- 1:23year is on the If you're from the future, you're already in twenty twenty
- 1:29four when you're watching this. Come on now, get on out here.
- 1:32But it's in our sights. We can see it, it's dead, and
- 1:40that means for this podcast for your viewing and listening pleasure, top five of
- 1:48the year now in previous years, because I'm a divert real quick, but
- 1:53in previous years, I've done something where I've done in like an episode where
- 1:57I'm like, there's the top five of the year episode that's gonna hit in
- 2:02like December, but before that, there's like a best albums of the year,
- 2:09and I just go through a whole list of albums, you know,
- 2:15from this year, right twenty twenty three, and you know, I found
- 2:22that to be a little crazy, you know, because they were like last
- 2:25year, I think I had like twenty some albums. And sometimes it's just
- 2:31the nature of the beasts, right like with hip hop, win in a
- 2:35place now where you can get twenty really good albums in one year, if
- 2:40not more, or projects in general, because artists tend to release like somebody
- 2:47like Ransom for instance, Like Ransom has like three or four projects this year
- 2:53alone him, and it's quality work. Now, of course I'm not gonna
- 2:59put all four albums on a list, but sometimes or four damn not worthy
- 3:05to be there. Same thing, but nas, what do you drop two
- 3:07albums in twenty twenty three one will definitely not be on the list. But
- 3:13you see what I mean. So this year, what I'm gonna do,
- 3:17there's going to be a top five, but there will also be a top
- 3:24ten runner ups. Like I'm gonna just dedicate myself to cutting the fact and
- 3:30saying these are the these are my top five, but these are the albums
- 3:37or projects that could easily, in any other situation have made my top five
- 3:44for the year. And just a little warning, everything I pick isn't just
- 3:51because that's what everybody likes. Like, that's to be like really quality work
- 3:55and sometimes the only thing beyond and that that doesn't mean that it's not quality,
- 4:00but the only thing beyond that where I'm not looking for an album to
- 4:04check out these boxes is if somebody just put out something that's just beats and
- 4:09bars and it's just pure hip hop and it's just dope, right, And
- 4:13there are a couple of those this year. And I'll just say this for
- 4:17those who've been watching this show, who've been listening to this show, there
- 4:21are a number of albums I reviewed that I was like, top five right
- 4:26now, like it's that good. Some of them won't be in the top
- 4:30five because again, as you continue to listen to these projects, some joints
- 4:36kind of I started to feel like it's not bad, but I'm not as
- 4:41excited as I was when I first heard it. But then they're those my
- 4:44top five that I every time I go back to it, the same feeling
- 4:49I had when I first heard it comes right back, and in one of
- 4:54two cases my mind was changed from my initial review. So they you have
- 5:00it. Big shout out to hip Hop DX dot com, All hip Hop
- 5:04dot Com, shout out to them, the source magazine dot com sometimes you
- 5:11know, I don't know whatever, and a couple of other places where I
- 5:15get my stories from. Let's get read into the business. So Drake all
- 5:25of a sudden, all of out of nowhere, decided, Yo, Scary
- 5:30Hours three is on the way now. If you don't know what Scary Hours
- 5:35is, it's typically like an EP or basically it's a series, right like
- 5:42how you have nonsas the Kings Disease series and Kendrick has the what is it
- 5:46the Heart series? Drake has the Scary Hour series and as a Drake fan,
- 5:56to me, that tends to be the best of his music. Right
- 6:00from a rapping standpoint, it is the only opportunity the majority of a time
- 6:06where we typically get old bars rapping Drake right now, don't take my words
- 6:16out of context. I'm not exaggerating it, like he could be on a
- 6:19level with this one or that one, that one. But it's good,
- 6:23That's what I'll say. It's good and this is the rap. This is
- 6:27the Drake I like. Right. So he put out an album this year
- 6:30for all the Dogs, I believe, I've reviewed it on here. I
- 6:34did not like it, and I'm a Drake fan, but I just it
- 6:39was just the most redundant dead style switching formula making a gainness ass album I've
- 6:48heard. I know it's a kids show, but the kids can say ass
- 6:51okay, But I had ever heard and he's done it before. But you
- 6:58know, sometimes he had mixed records on these albums that you'd be like,
- 7:01Okay, maybe I don't really care for that one, but I like these
- 7:04not for the dogs now typically or just for example, Scary Hours two last
- 7:13year was three songs, right, But when I tell y'all, no exaggeration,
- 7:18I was listening to those three songs every day every day. Now,
- 7:25it did Scary Hours didn't make my top of the year, but I just
- 7:29liked it and it was quick, and when I would hit go back to
- 7:32the first track, I just would go for the ride and go back to
- 7:36the next, the first track again at the end, and just go for
- 7:39the ride again. So I had big expectations for Scary Hours four, I
- 7:46mean three, mainly because I really liked the last project. Well, I
- 7:54feel the same as time and probably even more so, which is crazy.
- 8:01Scary Hours three is now six songs. I think, let's just confirm that,
- 8:09you know, let me go to my staff of none and confirm.
- 8:13Let's see, yeah, six tracks. But they tacked it on the end
- 8:22of For All Dogs as a deluxe edition, so it's like, for All
- 8:26the Dogs, Scary Hours three, please don't do that. We know you
- 8:31wanted that album to be something big, and nobody really liked it because they
- 8:35stopped talking about it. Joe Budden said what he had to say, and
- 8:39we all didn't really care for it. We all felt the same. But
- 8:43when you want to talk about come back, and I get it. For
- 8:46business purposes, man, you can't just throw your album to the side,
- 8:50like all right, y'all didn't like to head it. I mean, Eminem
- 8:52did it when he put out that what was it Revival with the flag on
- 8:56the front of you, like he going at Donald Trump. That album Garbage.
- 9:00It was the worst. It gotta be the worst Eminem album ever heard.
- 9:05But then he came out with Kama Kazi. He didn't take Kama Kazi
- 9:07attack it on the end and called Revival Deluxe or whatever it was called.
- 9:11He just said, okay, y, I didn't like that. Here's something
- 9:15else, right, here's something more your speed. So I kind of wish
- 9:20he had separated this from that project because it's just weird for me. Every
- 9:26time I, you know, go to listen to it, I gotta scroll
- 9:31down to the when the Scary Hours tracks start one through six just to listen.
- 9:37It's just weird, Like YO, just give us that separately. So
- 9:41for those of you who feel my frustrations, well, all I did was
- 9:46take those six songs and make a playlist and call it Scary Hours three.
- 9:50And while I I don't have to, I don't have to go through for
- 9:54all the dogs this project is or this ep he or whatever or this release
- 10:01is again six songs uh, one feature being another song with J Cole.
- 10:11It's rapping Drake, like rapping Drake, not not Migo's flow, not I'm
- 10:16with twenty one getting your dudes, none of that, none of that trash.
- 10:22This is just straight rapping Drake. This is battle Drake right on this
- 10:28project. And I'm gonna see if I could line them up as far as
- 10:33who he dissed this Kanye, this Pusher he did Joe Button of course,
- 10:39and I feel like somebody else, but I can't remember who that is,
- 10:43which is kind of weird, because this dude, this is how we get
- 10:48good music from you, Joe, Butden gotta straight say your album's trash,
- 10:54and everybody else got to talk about it being trash, and the momentum die
- 10:58down, and now all of a sudden, you know you're kind of giving
- 11:01us what we want, Like this is what we want, man, do
- 11:03this get mad? Whatever it may be. So the songs on the album
- 11:09are or the EP is Red Buttons, Stories about my brother, The Shoe
- 11:13Fits Wickman either Ways featuring j Cole and You Broke My Heart. I do
- 11:20not skip, not one of those joints. Total time is twenty three minutes.
- 11:24Y'all know. I like the short, not that short album, but
- 11:28you know it's cool with me. I'm gonna be bumping this now. It's
- 11:33just gonna be in my top five of the year. I doubt it,
- 11:39but it's definitely a candidate for top ten. There's a lot of songs.
- 11:46I mean, the majority of it is a lot of reflections off of just
- 11:52things he don't like from dudes to on stories about my brother where I think
- 11:56he kind of you know. That's where the Joe Budden's stuff comes into play.
- 12:01The shoe fits is really crazy, though, really crazy, Like he's
- 12:07It's not that Drake is this technical bar Smith, right, or you gotta
- 12:13pull out your calculator and get the algorithm together to understand and be like,
- 12:18oh, he's a genius. No, it's just that the things that he
- 12:22has to say are very relatable to men and women and funny in some cases.
- 12:31I prefer this, Drake, right, don't make threats because nobody believes
- 12:35you. You may be capable of doing everything you say, but there's a
- 12:41lot of us who don't believe you. So don't do that in your music
- 12:45because we here for the music, not the other stuff. But when Drake
- 12:48does this, I'm here for it, Like it. And I'm a bigger
- 12:54fan of the R and B sing songie Drake more than the just because I
- 13:01like the production that typically surrounds those types of songs when he makes him.
- 13:07But this joint I really like. And just a sidebar, you know,
- 13:13there's a lot of albums one in which I'll be kind of talking about in
- 13:16another story that will release today from like Lil Wayne and two Chains having a
- 13:22joint together. Who else? Now I'm forgetting Danny Brown. So there's a
- 13:28couple of joints that all released today that are all worthy of checking out.
- 13:33But I went for Drake first when I was in a gym and I'm in
- 13:37a gym and I'm like, this is That's what I want to hear,
- 13:41Like I want to I want to give me a little soundtrack. This is
- 13:46This is as far as satisfaction, not the music. This is what I
- 13:52wanted from Meet Mill and Rick Ross. When I heard Shaq and Kobe their
- 13:56single, I thought, I'm I'm gonna be rocking this joint and nah man,
- 14:03it's like it was, well, you could just check him out of
- 14:07the video. I did a whole review on that. It's not bad,
- 14:09But this Drake joint is cool and it's only one feature, and I think
- 14:16that's I think it's pretty dope. So just so you know, if you
- 14:20are not a Drake fan, Scary Hours three will not make you one same
- 14:26guy, same emotional You know, I ain't gonna be your friend Drake.
- 14:33That's always been there. But guess what, we know people like him and
- 14:37that's what makes it relatable. That's fine. I make jokes about it,
- 14:41but you go look at my music collection. I got a lot of Drake
- 14:43joints because I'm not a hater. I like certain joints, and when I
- 14:48want to get my boom bat bag, I don't listen to Drake. Okay,
- 14:50I know who to go through for that. But if you like Drake,
- 14:56you like rapping Drake, like if you like zero, if you like
- 15:00zero to one hundred Drake, it's for the boom bat cats. Like Yo,
- 15:05I like that joint. I think you're like this. I think you
- 15:09will, but you let me know. In the common section below, legendary
- 15:15producer Eric Sermon says that hip hop is stuck in one place. Now.
- 15:22I think I saw this interview, so let's find out during this is I'm
- 15:26getting this from hip hop DX, and they're getting it from Say Word podcast.
- 15:33Let's see what he says and I quote, I just think that hip
- 15:39hop is just not hip hop. I just think that they should change the
- 15:43name. No disrespect, but that's not what it is. Wow. Hip
- 15:48hop can evolve, but this is not evolving. Evolving is Meley Mel to
- 15:54Rock Kim Stage to the Whole nine to Wu Tang to Murder Inc. No
- 16:00DMX that's evolving. You know camra On, you know Dipseid, that's evolving.
- 16:10Let me just give y'all a disclaimer and this is no shade. If
- 16:12Eric Simmon said, hey, I'd like to produce a six song EP with
- 16:18you, I'd be in his house right now because EPMD was my favorite group.
- 16:25Eric Summon is like my favorite producer for a long time. And you
- 16:29know, I just like funk and they use a lot of funk beats and
- 16:30stuff. So there you have it. He's a legend. But sometimes when
- 16:36I watch him in numerous interviews, it comes across sometimes as stream of consciousness,
- 16:42right, meaning he starts talking about a thing, and he talks about
- 16:48a lot of different things, and sometimes he can contradict himself. Now,
- 16:52maybe he didn't mean certain things in a certain way, and he didn't catch
- 16:57that. He said this earlier and now he's saying something else that's the opposite
- 17:02because it's stream of consciouence. He's just going, you know, so it's
- 17:06not like calling malaya or whatever. But sometimes I grain of salt when I
- 17:11hit play on an Eric Sermon interview. But the man has a point.
- 17:18Now. For the longest time, I didn't like the idea of, you
- 17:26know, basically looking at today's rap as a whole other genre, Like,
- 17:30don't call it hip hop, call it something else. But you can't do
- 17:34that. When the dude's are rapping. It may not be the raping you
- 17:38like, but what they're doing is rapping. They're not singing, they're not
- 17:41playing instruments, so they're not musicians. They're rapping. We just don't like
- 17:48it, right, We don't think it's good, right, but it's still
- 17:53hip hop. Is still rapping, so I get that. But the point
- 18:02it's not about how they make the music they make right. What they do
- 18:08is hip hop right, rapping, the beat, making sample and whatever it
- 18:12may be, it's hip hop. But I gotta agree there needs to be
- 18:19like a pause on it or A or let me just say this, the
- 18:27majority of the rappers today that are hot, they do not evolve the culture.
- 18:37They actually set it back right. And it's not about lyrical skill.
- 18:42It's the simple fact that in hip hop you cannot make a twenty song album
- 18:48and talk about the exact same thing on every song. Even still, they're
- 18:56those who may have three concepts on a twenty track project, right like oh
- 19:03no, he was talking about his mother on it when he said my mom
- 19:07a little bit. The whole song ain't about that fan he brought it up,
- 19:11but then he got back to races and ops and everything else that's always
- 19:17being said. The flows aren't evolving the culture. You know what I'm saying,
- 19:23because you could talk about what your time is, and I mean,
- 19:26it is what it is. Some things are gonna be similar to pastime or
- 19:32whatever, just you know, it's just twenty twenty three or whatever. But
- 19:36I just find it. I find what Eric Sermon's saying to be true.
- 19:42But you have to put an asterid next to it, because they are those
- 19:47that are evolving and are carrying a torch. But there's only but so much
- 19:55evolving you can do within a genre. Before you have to just start doing
- 20:02what was old, because what's old is new again. Remember you heard that
- 20:04before, right, what's old is new again? Sometimes that's what it takes
- 20:11for somebody to take something that's older and evolve it. So a lot of
- 20:15it is based off of something that came before it. But maybe you're just
- 20:19doing it in a new way, right, you're not carbon coppy, And
- 20:25maybe that's what he means, right, Like you know, there was rock
- 20:27Kim, but then it was Nas, right, similar cadence in some cases,
- 20:33probably similar flow at a point in time, but NAS's lyrical structure and
- 20:40ability was the next step of where rak Kim was or is or whatever.
- 20:49And I know in hip hop, you know, you can't open over complicated,
- 20:53you can't oversimplify it. You just you just have to go with it,
- 20:57right, Like for example, sample Griselda being popular is what's old is
- 21:04new again? I remember an article where Benny the Butcher said that they could
- 21:12have rapped over them trap beats like that and just did it because they knew
- 21:17that was the wave, Like yo, I could rap over that, I
- 21:18could do that, but they felt the need to do what they were doing,
- 21:23and then doing that because of the saturation on the radio of these one
- 21:30track rappers, these you know, one hit fly by Night. Even they
- 21:33fans don't even check for their second album like that. It was just too
- 21:38much of that. So the universe balanced the scales. Then you had Griselda,
- 21:45and you know, then that opened up the door for cats who already
- 21:49doing it, but now they got a brighter shine on them, like rock,
- 21:52Marciano, Stove, got Cooks, all these different like boombat dudes,
- 21:57they got a better look now because that appetite for boombab never left. It's
- 22:07just that most people who aren't you under the underground or at every show,
- 22:11in every forum on social media, who may love that music, have no
- 22:17idea or didn't that it existed today. They just thought what was on the
- 22:22radio was it. That's what hip hop is. I'm good at fam I'm
- 22:26ceover, I'm gonna be over here, right. But then when they got
- 22:32some appeal and some exposure and started working with other artists who you may like,
- 22:37well then you expose them. So I in some ways I agree with
- 22:44where hip hop is. I don't agree it's just stop because I think it's
- 22:49more diverse now. And there's nothing wrong with that evolving can only go but
- 22:55so far before it evolves back into what it was in some kind of way.
- 23:00And that's what's great about today because it's happening because we can name three
- 23:07we can name three artists right now that are totally different that have attention.
- 23:12And I'm not talking about the Big Three. I'm talking about let's just say
- 23:17Benny the Butcher, right he a throwback, boom back kind of dude.
- 23:21He's a throwback. Right. Then it's Tyler the Creator. He could he
- 23:25could do the boom back, but he could do a whole bunch of other
- 23:27different things. I mean, these are two different people. There's there's Migos,
- 23:33right. Migos used to get clumped together with all the mumble rap,
- 23:41But honestly, they had a flow that everybody else bit off of. What's
- 23:45more hip hop than that? Right? The flow was unique to them.
- 23:52And when you when you listen to because I listened to a couple of Dreams
- 23:56even I kind of liked the Solo Records albums as a whole more than their
- 24:02albums as a group. I kind of like songs here and there. Their
- 24:07subject matter wasn't I mean, it was some of the same don't get me
- 24:10wrong, from a certain generation, so you're gonna get some of that.
- 24:14But their personalities came through more. It wasn't. You didn't have to look
- 24:18at them in order to say, oh, he's different from him or him
- 24:21and him. It was what they would say. That's hip hop. Your
- 24:26identity is coming through in your music. Then. Plus they big Michael Jackson
- 24:30fans, so you already know. But that's dope. Right. So in
- 24:36a lot of ways, we have what we want right, we can't.
- 24:41We don't have to swing everything back to a certain type of hip hop that
- 24:48we grew up with because that's what we miss. All of it is available.
- 24:53You can ignore the other names I said and just say, yo,
- 24:56I just like Cole and Kendrick. That's what I listened to. Oh you
- 25:00know, if you don't want to hear any of them, you just want
- 25:03to hear no drums. It's interested rap like like a Bodie James. You
- 25:11can you know what I'm saying. And another example, just to end it
- 25:15off, you have a dude like Nas from another generation working with an artist
- 25:22from a younger generation and doing big things. So I think, and this
- 25:30has been happening a lot with a couple of cats from a certain error.
- 25:33I think they need to stop pretending everything is dead. I think they should
- 25:40not lead with that. Just put something out and make it crazy. Just
- 25:44put it out. Nobody asks for a hit, boy and nas. They
- 25:48wanted that King's Disease is coming out. We loved it, and then it
- 25:56became a thing. So like, at the end of the day, even
- 26:00though I agree with the notion of hip hop is stuck in some regards,
- 26:06there's a lot of what is a de evolution happening, like he says,
- 26:15with a part of the culture, but it doesn't necessarily dominate the culture,
- 26:21right, Like what you like, go out and support it, and all
- 26:25of it will grow all at the same time. And what's not really good
- 26:27and people get tired of it's going to fall off. So Dan, you
- 26:33have it. And lastly, if you do not know, Andre three thousand
- 26:42of Outcasts is back now recently, you may have seen him, you know,
- 26:48in viral videos in different places, just walking, you know, playing
- 26:55the flute, looking almost disheveled until you look down his feeding like, oh
- 27:00he stayed with a fresh bed. Jordans though, So it don't sleep because
- 27:04I beeped out. I was like, that's the same dude, look at
- 27:08his feet. But nevertheless, he's back and he has the long awaited solo
- 27:18album that people want it now. People like myself just want one last Outcast
- 27:22album. I don't care about solos. I think we kind of got that
- 27:26within their double album. But he's back and he has a solo album that
- 27:32just came out. It's an hour and twenty seven minutes, but it's only
- 27:37eight songs. Each song is a sentence, like literally, it's a sentence.
- 27:45But and the album's called New Blue Sun. But let me before you
- 27:51go ahead. The person that's under the rock who doesn't know any of this.
- 27:56It starts off at the top of description of this album. It says,
- 27:59warning, no bars. I'm not gonna read it anymore. It says
- 28:07no bars, warning, no bars. End quotes. It's a Fluke album,
- 28:15y'all. Yeah, he's playing the Fluke on record. And the category
- 28:23is not hip hop. It's also not jazz, says alternative. Now a
- 28:30young man that's as like myself. You know, I listened to all kinds
- 28:37of music. You know, if I'm intrigued enough about it, and if
- 28:41I hear something, I really like it, does not have to be boom
- 28:45Back. It doesn't have to be a different era rap. It doesn't have
- 28:48to be rap. If I like it, I like it, I'm gonna
- 28:52get it. I'm gonna listen to it. But this is not what people
- 28:56expected. Right for Damn near twenty years, people wanted the Outcast follow up.
- 29:04For Damn near twenty years, people wanted a Andre three thousand solo album.
- 29:11Now Big Boy has released a couple of solo albums that are great,
- 29:18but nobody listened. Why because it wasn't Outcast. But it's big Boy,
- 29:25we know him. But now it's Andre's turn. And then no bars on
- 29:32his album It's only Fluid, So okay, with all the jokes aside.
- 29:37I listened to his interview on All Songs Considered, which was an exclusive.
- 29:41I don't think they did the interview. I think somebody else did the interview
- 29:45and they got the exclusive rights to the audio or whatever. But nevertheless,
- 29:49I listened to that before the album came out, and from the mouth of
- 29:56Andree three Stacks himself, he said, no bars. He said, why
- 30:03he's been playing the flute, why he's choosing to do this instead of a
- 30:07solo rap album. Why won't he rap like The interview was great because it
- 30:12answered all the questions that people like to make up answers for without even asking
- 30:18the questions. Right, the man is saying it himself, so you can
- 30:22stop making up your own stuff on Twitter. This is what he said about
- 30:26everything you brought up. But it's not just him playing the flute, mind
- 30:33you. I haven't listened to the entire album yet, you know, but
- 30:37I already know from what he described, and you know what I skimmed through
- 30:42to begin with. He basically essentially has a band playing with him, not
- 30:48a big band, but he has other players with him, right, somebody
- 30:49own percussion and all that, So it's not just flute music. But I
- 30:59will say about people who are upset or overplaying Andre three thousands project, especially
- 31:11before it came out. I think sometimes some people are so in love with
- 31:18the definition of artistry that they don't recognize it when they hear it or see
- 31:22it. Right. They don't pay attention to the actual meaning. They're just
- 31:25in love with the idea of the meaning. They're in love with the idea
- 31:29that this dude just put the overcoat on and walked outside with the Jordans on
- 31:33it kind of looked like Omar from the Wires a couple of times when I
- 31:37saw kind of did but with the flute, and they saw that, like,
- 31:45oh, he's free. Then there are those like myself because I like
- 31:51the joke. But then there are those that kind of take it too far
- 31:53where you know they they're laughing at it. What's crazy is that he's fully
- 32:01aware of all of that and you don't care because he is a true artist.
- 32:09For him, it's about expressing himself, not compared to his former work,
- 32:16not compared to anybody else who's ever played the flute. That's what social
- 32:21media. That's what y'all do on social media. Y'all argue about things that
- 32:24weren't even brought up because somebody dumb said he's the greatest flute player ever,
- 32:30and we like, whoa you ever heard of Bobby Humphreys? What you talk
- 32:34about? Okay, But I will say this, I'm a music fan.
- 32:44I talk a lot about hip hop. I've done a lot of hip hop
- 32:46things. I mean, when you see me in my casual clothes, I
- 32:50am hip hop. When you see me, you already know I probably like
- 32:53hip hop when you see me, and you'll be right. But again,
- 32:59my music collection contains everything from Kid Cuddy to Jimmy Hendrix to Prince to Michael
- 33:07Jackson to Diddy. Ain't gonna talk about it, Stevie Wonder you know what
- 33:15I'm saying, Like Travis Barker, you know, rage against the Machine,
- 33:19Lenny Kravitz. I like what I like, I just do, and I'm
- 33:25open to listen to artists do their thing now. I'm not gonna be one
- 33:30of those dudes who are brainwashed and try to make it seem like it's better
- 33:35than it is. I listen to Lului Yati's rock album and guess what,
- 33:39it's better than his rap music. I'm sorry. I liked it a lot,
- 33:45and I'm like, why don't you just do this? Like stop stop
- 33:49doing hip hop? You are not good at that, but I think you
- 33:52kind of cool on this, so you should do this. So again,
- 33:55if I could listen to lul Yachty's rock album and give them a chance when
- 34:00I've never liked them as a rap artist, I could listen to someone who
- 34:06I think is one of the greatest MC's of all time in one of the
- 34:09greatest groups of all time. I can listen to him play the flute.
- 34:16It's fine. Now, not eight records eight tracks of solo food playing.
- 34:22I cannot do that. But if it's good, it's good. So I
- 34:28don't choose to review it on here. That's why I hadn't listened to it
- 34:31yet, you know, because if you're gonna make alternative music, that's more
- 34:37like ambient sound, and you know, it's kind of more like to me.
- 34:43It's one of those things where if you're jazz had or you like bands
- 34:47when you go to shows, some of us watched the bands like we watched
- 34:52them play the instruments, We watched them do their thing and how they create
- 34:58the sounds. So this is cool. I just hope there's enough there that
- 35:05I can hear without having to be at a show and see them do it,
- 35:08right. I think I'm going to if it. If it happens,
- 35:14I think I'm going to try to go to a show for three stacks because
- 35:20I want to see I want to see him play, and I want to
- 35:23see the other cats in the band play. But I will say this,
- 35:31this is hip hop. This is a hip hop podcast, and I feel
- 35:36like there's nothing wrong for anybody who's wanted a Auree three thousand or outcast album
- 35:42on this long to be somewhat disappointed. You can't be upset, but you
- 35:46can be disappointed. But I say to that he's given you a lifetime's work
- 35:54of classic material, whereas some artists, some rappers, cannot even give you
- 36:00one. So enjoy the music he gave y'all. And if you feel open
- 36:07enough to listen to alternative music or jazz or whatever people want to call it,
- 36:15even though it's labeled as an alternative, then check it out. But
- 36:19don't wait for him to say forever, ever, forever. He's not going
- 36:22to say it's gonna be straight flutes, fam, So you're gonna it's go
- 36:27ahead, his flutes when you be ready for the flute? Okay, follow
- 36:31me on Twitter and all of that, and I'll probably give my opinion once
- 36:36I really get a chance to listen to it, but I don't know.
- 36:39Leave your comments in the comments section below. Let me know. You know.
- 36:43Are you mad or you listen to the flute album, You're like,

- 37:22a critic, I'm a fan, and I don't play the flute. Pas
