- 0:08Speaker 1: Are you ready, my Saul, Yeah, Jeff Day, quell clean o'clock.
- 0:21Speaker 1: I got one hundred and forty one and to those
- 0:23Speaker 1: tests winning.
- 0:24Speaker 2: But brother, I am bad and ain't no lot bad.
- 0:27Speaker 2: I'm a paggy out the paving a dollar. You slip
- 0:31Speaker 2: this out and shell time. Welcome you to the grill
- 0:36Speaker 2: Out from the heart Uphillion, West Virginia. Here's your host, Hollywood,
- 0:41Speaker 2: Cheff Petty. Welcome ladies, gentlemen, back to the grill Outs.
- 0:46Speaker 2: And my name is Hollywood Jeff Betty. This is episode
- 0:50Speaker 2: fifty seven, and I will apologize in advance because as
- 0:55Speaker 2: you can tell, I'm feeling a little under the weather.
- 0:58Speaker 2: It's that time of year, you about mid October and
- 1:02Speaker 2: mid April. Around those times is when I typically will
- 1:05Speaker 2: start to get sick. I start to get real congested
- 1:07Speaker 2: and whatnot. So I apologize for that in advance. Also,
- 1:12Speaker 2: Josh nor Jason will be here on the show with
- 1:16Speaker 2: me today. Josh is off on assignment elsewhere and Jason
- 1:21Speaker 2: is off on to an undisclosed location. Also, I didn't
- 1:25Speaker 2: want to get neither one of them sick per se,
- 1:29Speaker 2: so I just went ahead and decided, Okay, I'll just
- 1:31Speaker 2: do the show myself. I'm fully capable to do that.
- 1:35Speaker 2: I just enjoy having both of them here. But that
- 1:39Speaker 2: is not why you're here. You're here for professional wrestling.
- 1:42Speaker 2: That's why we're all here. And just because we've been
- 1:45Speaker 2: talking so much about television contracts and where wrestling is
- 1:50Speaker 2: going to go and what the changes are going to be.
- 1:52Speaker 2: This is something that we have speculated several times on
- 1:56Speaker 2: the show so far. Peacock is apparently going to lose
- 2:00Speaker 2: wwepls when their current deal ends. This is coming from
- 2:06Speaker 2: culta Halic dot Com. The expectation within Peacock is that
- 2:10Speaker 2: WWE's content will leave the streaming service when their current
- 2:14Speaker 2: deal comes to an end in twenty twenty six. This
- 2:17Speaker 2: is according to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer newsletter,
- 2:20Speaker 2: who has reported that expectation within Peacock is that WWE
- 2:24Speaker 2: will move everything to Netflix again. We've talked about this
- 2:29Speaker 2: on the show. With this new Netflix deal, it seems
- 2:33Speaker 2: like that that is the direction that ww is going
- 2:36Speaker 2: to go in. I mean, it only makes sense if
- 2:38Speaker 2: you're going to put your flag Ship show Monday Night
- 2:41Speaker 2: Rawl exclusively on a streaming service, exclusively on one of
- 2:45Speaker 2: the biggest If not the biggest streaming services in the
- 2:48Speaker 2: world Netflix, it only makes sense to eventually take your
- 2:52Speaker 2: ples or what other old school like older fans will
- 2:57Speaker 2: call pay per views. They're not pay per views anymore,
- 2:59Speaker 2: they're ple They will be moved over to allegedly to
- 3:04Speaker 2: Netflix once the Peacock deal comes to an end in
- 3:08Speaker 2: twenty twenty six now NBC Universal, they will still have
- 3:11Speaker 2: a working relationship with WWE, simply because of SmackDown being
- 3:16Speaker 2: on the USA network. But it does look like that
- 3:19Speaker 2: there is at least a possibility. Now that this is
- 3:22Speaker 2: nothing confirmed, We don't have any confirmation on that. It
- 3:26Speaker 2: is speculation, but that is something that we have speculated
- 3:30Speaker 2: quite often on this on the show. Like what I've said,
- 3:33Speaker 2: we just again it only makes sense. It only makes
- 3:37Speaker 2: sense for ww to eventually put their ples on Netflix.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Speaking of plswe's next pl will be Crown Jewel, which
- 3:48Speaker 2: you know takes place from Saudi Arabia. They unveiled at
- 3:51Speaker 2: Bad Blood, the Crown Jewel Championship, the monumental historical announcement
- 3:58Speaker 2: or however you want a word that Triple H had
- 4:01Speaker 2: at Bad Blood, he unveiled the Crown Jewel Championship. There
- 4:04Speaker 2: will be champions versus champions, and then you know they
- 4:07Speaker 2: will all go and face each other for the Crown
- 4:09Speaker 2: Jewel Championship. This is coming from Wressell Votes. They say
- 4:13Speaker 2: that the Saudi Championships will be exclusive for Saudi shows
- 4:17Speaker 2: and will not be mentioned throughout the year. Quote. The
- 4:20Speaker 2: Crown Jewel Championships we're hearing are strictly for Saudi Arabia.
- 4:24Speaker 2: They may appear the week after as raw is in
- 4:27Speaker 2: Saudi Arabia, but they are currently scheduled not to be
- 4:30Speaker 2: full time television titles and they will not be defended
- 4:34Speaker 2: throughout the year. More of a winning of the King
- 4:37Speaker 2: of the Ring type thing where you win it, you celebrate,
- 4:41Speaker 2: and then we move on. They go on to talk
- 4:44Speaker 2: about how Braun Stroman won, you know, the Greatest Royal
- 4:48Speaker 2: Rumble title, and it's sort of it's it's gonna be
- 4:52Speaker 2: something very similar to that. It's like, okay, we have
- 4:55Speaker 2: our one or two Saudi shows a year, and we
- 5:00Speaker 2: have this tournament. This person wins the Crown Jewel Championship.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Good for them. It goes on the resume. Let's move
- 5:06Speaker 2: on to the next thing, because we have what after Saudi.
- 5:09Speaker 2: I think there's one more plee and then we have
- 5:12Speaker 2: the Royal Rumble. Wow, this this year has flown by.
- 5:16Speaker 2: And actually I have a comment here from Josh. He
- 5:20Speaker 2: says pretty much how he thought this would go just
- 5:23Speaker 2: once a year thing, kind of like how AW has
- 5:26Speaker 2: the owen Hart Cup Championship belts that aren't actually defended
- 5:31Speaker 2: and basically disappear after a couple of weeks. These Crown
- 5:34Speaker 2: Jewel Championships will just be a trophy for this annual
- 5:37Speaker 2: match between the world champions. Now, we do have a
- 5:41Speaker 2: couple of confirmed matches for WW Crown Jewels so far.
- 5:45Speaker 2: There is a Women's World Champion Live Morgan will take
- 5:48Speaker 2: on WW at Women's Champion at Nya Jacks, and World
- 5:51Speaker 2: Heavyweight Champion Goother will take on undisputed WW Champion at
- 5:56Speaker 2: Cody Rhodes. And those are the only couple only two
- 6:00Speaker 2: confirmed matches for the Crown Jewel Championships and currently the
- 6:03Speaker 2: only matches confirmed for Crown Jewel itself. This is no
- 6:08Speaker 2: you know, this is not something that is too far
- 6:11Speaker 2: out of the realm possibility for professional wrestling. If you
- 6:15Speaker 2: know the history of the IWGP title, Okay, we we
- 6:19Speaker 2: now what we know now as the IWGP heavyweight title. Okay,
- 6:23Speaker 2: now that's that's sort of a new thing. The previous lineage, well,
- 6:26Speaker 2: the world heavyweight title. Let me let me correct myself there,
- 6:30Speaker 2: excuse me, the IWGP World Heavyweight title. Okay, it's a
- 6:35Speaker 2: it's a new thing. But before that, you had the
- 6:37Speaker 2: IWGP Heavyweight title, and that lineage went, lineage went all
- 6:42Speaker 2: the way back to the eighties. In fact, Haul Cogan
- 6:46Speaker 2: won that title one time. Okay, he never defended it
- 6:50Speaker 2: because during that time, it was a tournament known as
- 6:54Speaker 2: the International Wrestling Grand Prix the IWGP, and the winner
- 6:59Speaker 2: of that tournament received a belt, and then you know,
- 7:03Speaker 2: they didn't defend that belt, okay, and then they had
- 7:06Speaker 2: the tournament again the next year, and then eventually they
- 7:09Speaker 2: did make that into a championship belt the where you
- 7:12Speaker 2: could defend it. Same principle here, same exact thing. Like
- 7:18Speaker 2: I said, it, it does it. It's it's not shocking.
- 7:21Speaker 2: And Josh even is saying that he's he this is
- 7:24Speaker 2: how he thought it would go. I think that, you know,
- 7:27Speaker 2: in a way, like how AW has entirely too many championships.
- 7:32Speaker 2: That's partially because of ring of honor and whatnot. I
- 7:36Speaker 2: think if they WW did have a Saudi Arabia Championship
- 7:40Speaker 2: that they defended, defended on a regular basis on WW television,
- 7:47Speaker 2: we would be moving into the same direction of having
- 7:50Speaker 2: too many titles, not enough people to put the titles on,
- 7:53Speaker 2: et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. I am not again,
- 7:58Speaker 2: I'm I don't have a problem with this. I think
- 8:00Speaker 2: it is a good way to go. And also, like
- 8:04Speaker 2: I'm not trying. If you've noticed on the Saudi Arabia
- 8:08Speaker 2: shows up until where he recently, they were pretty much
- 8:12Speaker 2: glorified house shows. I mean they weren't in the Uh.
- 8:15Speaker 2: This is for all of my anime fans out there,
- 8:17Speaker 2: and I hope everybody that is playing Dragon Ball Sparking
- 8:22Speaker 2: zero Is is enjoying themselves. But for all of my
- 8:25Speaker 2: anime fans out there are just fandoms in general. They
- 8:29Speaker 2: used to not be cannon. Okay, that's why bron Stroman
- 8:33Speaker 2: won the Greatest Royal Rumble title. Okay it was. It
- 8:37Speaker 2: wasn't considered cannon. So these Saudi Arabia shows really are
- 8:42Speaker 2: tailored for the Saudi people, for the Saudi royal family
- 8:46Speaker 2: and all of that, because you know, they are fokern
- 8:48Speaker 2: over a lot of cash for that. They asked for
- 8:52Speaker 2: Yoko Zuna and we don't. Somebody had to explain to
- 8:55Speaker 2: him why you can't have Yokozuna and why you can't
- 8:57Speaker 2: have Andre the Giant. But you know, money can't buy everything.
- 9:01Speaker 2: But that's what I mean, like these shows are more
- 9:03Speaker 2: tailored for them now. WWE has made it to where
- 9:06Speaker 2: they are more cannon per se, more in the universe,
- 9:12Speaker 2: no pun intended inside of the WWE universe, not just
- 9:16Speaker 2: a glorified, you know, souped up house show. But yeah,
- 9:22Speaker 2: that's that's That's all we know so far about the
- 9:24Speaker 2: matches confirmed for ww Crown Jewel and of course we
- 9:28Speaker 2: will have predictions for that. Now, speaking of predictions, just
- 9:32Speaker 2: because of the time that this recording is coming out,
- 9:35Speaker 2: we do not have the predictions for Wrestled Dream yet.
- 9:40Speaker 2: We don't have the results for that, but we will
- 9:42Speaker 2: be putting that on the Facebook page and then you know,
- 9:44Speaker 2: eventually when we return, we will be talking about that.
- 9:48Speaker 2: But just to stick with WWE, aj Styles possibly injured
- 9:55Speaker 2: and he's on his farewell tour. Aj Styles suffered a
- 9:59Speaker 2: mid foot and ligament sprain and was said to be
- 10:02Speaker 2: pretty mad about the whole thing. He was set to
- 10:04Speaker 2: begin a storyline that would be his farewell tour and
- 10:07Speaker 2: with tease retirement. It's reportedly still the plan, pending the
- 10:11Speaker 2: results of his mri I. We haven't heard anything about
- 10:14Speaker 2: the m ri I. There was a planned spot from
- 10:18Speaker 2: my understanding of AJ Styles getting injured and you know,
- 10:23Speaker 2: and and and that that was kind of how it
- 10:25Speaker 2: was supposed to go. But AJ Styles landed wrong. Uh
- 10:29Speaker 2: and you know he uh, like I said, suffered a
- 10:32Speaker 2: mid foot and ligament sprain. That's what they're saying. That's
- 10:35Speaker 2: all that we know at the moment. And Styles has
- 10:39Speaker 2: talked a lot about retiring. He's he's he's been talking
- 10:44Speaker 2: more and more here within the past few years that
- 10:46Speaker 2: he is coming up on his his his end like
- 10:50Speaker 2: he is. He's like, I put my I've put my
- 10:52Speaker 2: time in, and he has, he absolutely has. You have
- 10:55Speaker 2: to think this man has been in professional wrestling. He
- 10:58Speaker 2: was what I think at the end of WWWCW, and
- 11:02Speaker 2: that was two thousand and one, two thousand I think
- 11:05Speaker 2: around that time was when he was wrestling for WCW
- 11:08Speaker 2: a little bit and then you know, then WWF at
- 11:11Speaker 2: the time comes and buys him out. AJ Styles. I
- 11:13Speaker 2: think he did a couple of dark matches for WWF
- 11:16Speaker 2: at the time, and then you know, the startup known
- 11:19Speaker 2: as TNA came about and he went over there, and
- 11:22Speaker 2: you know, rightfully, so he made a name for himself.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Imagine AJ Styles staying within the WWF system back in
- 11:29Speaker 2: the early two thousands. Okay, he's phenomenal, but I think
- 11:32Speaker 2: he would have gotten lost in the shuffle like so
- 11:34Speaker 2: many others have, and it was smart for him to
- 11:37Speaker 2: go over to TNA. So you know, the man has
- 11:39Speaker 2: put in his time. He's been with ww now for
- 11:43Speaker 2: man close to nine ten years now. Doesn't seem like it.
- 11:50Speaker 2: It really doesn't seem like it. Like sometimes when I
- 11:52Speaker 2: sit there and I see AJ Styles, I'm like, wow,
- 11:54Speaker 2: Like this man, like he's he's he's put in his time,
- 11:58Speaker 2: He's he's been around, okay, but he he's been at
- 12:02Speaker 2: ww for a minute, and sometimes when I look at him,
- 12:04Speaker 2: I still think TNA. And that's no. And I'm not
- 12:07Speaker 2: saying that in a disrespectful way. It's just how I
- 12:10Speaker 2: was first introduced to AJ Styles was because of TNA
- 12:13Speaker 2: Wrestling back in the day, back in the mid two thousands,
- 12:17Speaker 2: and the fact that He's like, yeah, I think I'm
- 12:21Speaker 2: winding down now, So you know, we'll see on that.
- 12:25Speaker 2: AJ Styles hasn't been around, He hasn't been on television
- 12:27Speaker 2: for a little bit, so maybe he's taken some time off,
- 12:30Speaker 2: you know, to enjoy some time with his family, to
- 12:32Speaker 2: sort of make those preparations for his inevitable retirement. AJ
- 12:38Speaker 2: Styles is forty seven years old, so he is up
- 12:43Speaker 2: there in age. Like I said, he's talked about possibly
- 12:47Speaker 2: hanging up, which I don't blame him. He's put in
- 12:49Speaker 2: his time. He really has, you know, he is. He
- 12:53Speaker 2: is a legend. You can't can't take that away from him.
- 12:55Speaker 2: So it does look like AJ Styles will be hanging
- 12:59Speaker 2: up the boots. But you know, when will that happen.
- 13:03Speaker 2: I don't know, but it does seem like he is
- 13:04Speaker 2: going to go on his farewell tour and AJ Styles
- 13:10Speaker 2: Just to segue into our next part, AJ Styles Cody
- 13:14Speaker 2: Rhoades did have a five star match earlier this year,
- 13:17Speaker 2: according to Dave Meltzer at the Wrestling Observer newsletter at
- 13:21Speaker 2: Backlash France. Now, I there's things with Meltzer that I
- 13:27Speaker 2: agree with. There's certain times matches where I'm like, hey,
- 13:31Speaker 2: that's five. That's a five star match, and then he'll
- 13:33Speaker 2: give it, you know, four stars or four and a
- 13:35Speaker 2: quarter or four and a half, that's okay. Meltzer has
- 13:39Speaker 2: said before that, hey, you know, you don't have to
- 13:41Speaker 2: give you know, you don't have to agree with me.
- 13:44Speaker 2: That's just that's what he thinks. He thinks it's a
- 13:45Speaker 2: five star match. Some people treat it like the gospel.
- 13:51Speaker 2: I use it more or less as a guide for
- 13:54Speaker 2: great professional wrestling. Okay, So that's that's the that's the
- 13:58Speaker 2: best way I can put it. I just look look
- 14:00Speaker 2: at it as great professional wrestling, as a sort of
- 14:03Speaker 2: a roadmap for great professional wrestling. So speaking of the
- 14:07Speaker 2: five star matches, Drew McIntyre and seeing Punk's Hell in
- 14:10Speaker 2: a Sale match this past weekend last weekend at Bad
- 14:15Speaker 2: Bad Blood did receive five stars from the Wrestling Observer
- 14:19Speaker 2: newsletter and from Dave Meltzer. It is Drew McIntyre's first
- 14:24Speaker 2: five star match. It's Punk's second five star match. If
- 14:27Speaker 2: you remember back in twenty eleven at Money in the Bank,
- 14:30Speaker 2: him and John Cena that hold, you know, the main
- 14:33Speaker 2: event there where Punk's coming in and you know, if
- 14:36Speaker 2: he wins the title, he's going to leave. He hasn't
- 14:39Speaker 2: signed his contract yet. You know, he's he's he's a
- 14:42Speaker 2: he's not under contract, likes John SENA has to win it.
- 14:45Speaker 2: And then you know there's the famous shot of Punk
- 14:49Speaker 2: after he wins and he blows Vince McMahon the kiss
- 14:53Speaker 2: and he's like, you know, toodles, just bye bye. That
- 14:56Speaker 2: was Punk's first five star match, but now he has two.
- 14:59Speaker 2: Under is about Drew has won and it is WWE
- 15:03Speaker 2: second of the year. Actually, okay, that's what I mean.
- 15:08Speaker 2: Like I and I've said it before on the program,
- 15:10Speaker 2: and I'll keep saying it and I'll say it again,
- 15:12Speaker 2: and and Meltzer has said publicly you don't have to
- 15:15Speaker 2: agree with him and you don't have to agree with
- 15:16Speaker 2: him on this one. I did go back and watch it.
- 15:19Speaker 2: I agree with this. I absolutely agree with this. I think,
- 15:22Speaker 2: in my opinion, I think WWE has had more than
- 15:25Speaker 2: two five star matches this year. That's just in my opinion.
- 15:30Speaker 2: But I do agree with Meltzer here. It is a
- 15:32Speaker 2: five star match. Now, some people were talking about the
- 15:34Speaker 2: blood that was used in this match. Where so and
- 15:36Speaker 2: so where you know, both competitors got caller. I've heard
- 15:40Speaker 2: reports that pretty much. It's been universally agreed that CM
- 15:44Speaker 2: punk was supposed to get caller in the match, but
- 15:47Speaker 2: it is not universally agreed upon that Drew McIntyre was
- 15:52Speaker 2: supposed to get color in the match. Some say he was,
- 15:54Speaker 2: some say he wasn't. He did have that nasty spot
- 15:58Speaker 2: with the steps that did us Tom open and you know,
- 16:01Speaker 2: and we talked about it last week on the show.
- 16:03Speaker 2: We gave it one Mooda on the infamous Mooda scale.
- 16:07Speaker 2: So yeah, but it seems like to me, and this
- 16:11Speaker 2: is also coming from Meltzer, so and again I think
- 16:14Speaker 2: that there is some validity to this. WW is rolling
- 16:18Speaker 2: back on their blood policy, on their getting collar policy,
- 16:23Speaker 2: and I think that is a good thing. But the
- 16:26Speaker 2: thing is they don't want it used all the time.
- 16:29Speaker 2: They want to use it for air quotes, key matches,
- 16:34Speaker 2: which that's fine. We don't need to have, you know,
- 16:37Speaker 2: a simple you know, submission match or just just a
- 16:40Speaker 2: simple one on one match, and every single one of
- 16:43Speaker 2: them on the card, somebody's getting collar. Okay. I have
- 16:46Speaker 2: respect for those that were professional wrestlers back in the day,
- 16:51Speaker 2: excuse me, back in the day, back in the eighties.
- 16:54Speaker 2: Hurley Race Rick Flair, Bruiser, Brody Abdullah, the Butcher, et cetera.
- 17:00Speaker 2: I have respect for them, But Dusty Roads is another one.
- 17:06Speaker 2: Not that they got coller in every one of their matches.
- 17:09Speaker 2: But the famous thing with Flair is his hair. You know,
- 17:13Speaker 2: Flair would get collar and he would constantly be taking
- 17:15Speaker 2: his hand and running it back into his bleach blonde
- 17:18Speaker 2: hair to make it crimson red. It added that factor
- 17:22Speaker 2: to the match. But with that being said, not every
- 17:26Speaker 2: single match has to be like that. I don't need that.
- 17:30Speaker 2: I don't need that as somebody who is viewing professional wrestling,
- 17:33Speaker 2: I don't need to see blood in every single match. Now.
- 17:38Speaker 2: When I do see it, I want it to be
- 17:41Speaker 2: impactful like it was with this Hell in a Cell match.
- 17:44Speaker 2: I will say, sometimes aw goes a little too far
- 17:47Speaker 2: with it, okay now, And that's and that is up
- 17:51Speaker 2: for debate. Where they have they have crossed line. I
- 17:53Speaker 2: don't know if they've crossed the line. I think they've
- 17:55Speaker 2: just diluted it more. But that again, that is my
- 17:59Speaker 2: humble appear opinion on that. Nothing against anybody else, nothing
- 18:03Speaker 2: against you know whoever is you know this and that
- 18:07Speaker 2: or the other. But I just I think it is.
- 18:10Speaker 2: I think that it needs to be impactful, and seem
- 18:13Speaker 2: Punk has said that, you know, speaking of the Hell
- 18:15Speaker 2: in a Cell match and all of this, Seampunk has
- 18:17Speaker 2: wanted to make the Hell in a Cell Match mean
- 18:19Speaker 2: more and it should. The selling the Hell in a
- 18:23Speaker 2: Cell match, we shouldn't be sitting there going on, She's
- 18:25Speaker 2: another gimmick match. I'll be all right, you know, like
- 18:28Speaker 2: we don't need that. We we we need the Hell
- 18:31Speaker 2: in a Cell Match to be you know, well, these
- 18:33Speaker 2: like like with the Drew McIntyre cm Punk feud, you
- 18:37Speaker 2: have this blood feud between the two of them. I've
- 18:39Speaker 2: said on the show before that Drew McIntyre, the hatred
- 18:42Speaker 2: he has for CM punk could power a small village.
- 18:45Speaker 2: And that's true, the hatred he has for him in storyline,
- 18:50Speaker 2: and it just it built, built and built to this
- 18:53Speaker 2: crescendo with the Hell in the Cell match, and that's
- 18:56Speaker 2: what we got last week on Bad Blood last weekend.
- 19:01Speaker 2: And I again, I agree with it. I don't want
- 19:03Speaker 2: to see it all the time, but I want to
- 19:05Speaker 2: see it some of the time, Okay. And I don't
- 19:07Speaker 2: knock anybody likes deathmatch wrestling, but that's part of the
- 19:10Speaker 2: reason why I don't watch deathmatch wrestling that much is
- 19:14Speaker 2: because you know, there's crazy spot after crazy spot after
- 19:17Speaker 2: crazy spot. After a while, you become desensitized to it.
- 19:21Speaker 2: You know, you just you will not sit there and uh, okay,
- 19:24Speaker 2: here we go. We got another one. We got another one,
- 19:27Speaker 2: We got some more blood, we got some more whereas
- 19:30Speaker 2: like with the Cee Him Punk Drew McIntyre match, you're
- 19:33Speaker 2: sitting here watching it, you see like this that you
- 19:35Speaker 2: see it just pouring out of them again. We gave
- 19:38Speaker 2: it one mooda. Okay, go watch, go listen to our
- 19:41Speaker 2: grill out hot tags on our first episode talking about
- 19:44Speaker 2: the infamous mood to scale and how it became a thing. Yeah,
- 19:47Speaker 2: we gave it one mouda. And that's saying something. Okay,
- 19:51Speaker 2: one mood is a lot. But I do I agree
- 19:55Speaker 2: with WWE on this one, and I don't think it
- 19:57Speaker 2: should be diluted and I think it should be used
- 19:59Speaker 2: in chema. I don't know if there's much of an
- 20:02Speaker 2: argument you can make there, Okay, but hey, hey that's
- 20:06Speaker 2: just me. I'm just a guy talking on the radio, Okay,
- 20:11Speaker 2: talking on here. If you're listening to this. On fourteen
- 20:14Speaker 2: ninety AMWWSWW. Thank you for joining us. If you if
- 20:18Speaker 2: you're listening to this on speaker, Spotify, Apple podcasts a
- 20:22Speaker 2: podcast addic YouTube. We've had a lot of hits on YouTube.
- 20:26Speaker 2: Thank you for joining us. Keep spreading the word about
- 20:28Speaker 2: this show. We were doing this literally for the love
- 20:30Speaker 2: of professional wrestling, and we are the only professional wrestling
- 20:33Speaker 2: radio show in the state of West Virginia. So I'm
- 20:38Speaker 2: gonna go ahead, stop the news right there. We have now.
- 20:41Speaker 2: I dropped my pen.
- 20:42Speaker 3: We have now on this day in wrestling history.
- 20:57Speaker 2: This October thirteen, nineteen ninety two TV tapings for W
- 21:02Speaker 2: Wrestling Challenge took place in Regina, just up the road
- 21:06Speaker 2: from Sabscat Saskatoon, Saskatoon, Saskatoon in Canada, where Brett Hart
- 21:13Speaker 2: defeated Rick Flair for the w World title just twenty
- 21:16Speaker 2: four hours prior. The tapings aired on TV in early November,
- 21:20Speaker 2: and are most notably recalled for the W Tag team
- 21:23Speaker 2: titles changing hands when Money Inc. Defeated the Natural Disasters
- 21:27Speaker 2: for the Belts when the champions were distracted by the
- 21:31Speaker 2: Debut and Headshrinkers as a result of storyline neglect from
- 21:35Speaker 2: their manager Jimmy Hart. Since SummerSlam, the Nasty Boys turned
- 21:39Speaker 2: face and attacked Debiasse and Irs in the ring prior
- 21:43Speaker 2: to the tag title match. Also at these tapings, Marty
- 21:47Speaker 2: Jennetti returned to ring competition and Shawn Michaels defeated defeated
- 21:51Speaker 2: the Big boss Man by count out. October thirteenth, nineteen
- 21:57Speaker 2: ninety seven on WCW Monday, Niger from Tampa Bay, Florida,
- 22:02Speaker 2: Hollywood Hogan was looking for revenge on Rowdy Roddy Piper.
- 22:06Speaker 2: The Steiner Brothers faced Scott Hall and six Xbox. Also,
- 22:10Speaker 2: De Malenko faced Raymasterrio and in the main event, Diamond
- 22:14Speaker 2: Dallas Page took on Kurt Henning and then, finally on
- 22:19Speaker 2: October thirteenth, twenty fourteen, at the King of Pro Wrestling
- 22:23Speaker 2: event in Tokyo, Japan, Hiroshi Tanaha she defeated aj Styles
- 22:28Speaker 2: to win the IWGP Heavyweight title for a record seventh time.
- 22:33Speaker 2: Tanaha she would go on to win the title I
- 22:35Speaker 2: Believe one more time and that was from Kenny Omega
- 22:38Speaker 2: at Wrestle Kingdom thirteen. Kenny Omega of course was the
- 22:41Speaker 2: champion and Tanaha she won the g one Climax went
- 22:44Speaker 2: on actually became the first person to win the g
- 22:46Speaker 2: one and go on to win the title at Wrestle Kingdom,
- 22:49Speaker 2: and we will actually speaking of King of Pro Wrestling IWGP,
- 22:53Speaker 2: New Japan and all of that. We will have more
- 22:55Speaker 2: of that later on in the main event. So that's
- 22:58Speaker 2: gonna go ahead and close out this first segment, Ladies
- 23:02Speaker 2: and gentlemen. Up next, we have some more news involving
- 23:07Speaker 2: w W a debut next week, some news on or
- 23:12Speaker 2: just addressing a rumor about Jim Johnston, and then also
- 23:16Speaker 2: something that I learned about Mitsuo Mazzawa, So stay tuned. Also,
- 23:21Speaker 2: we have the main event coming up, so yeah, stay tuned.
- 23:30Speaker 2: It's time for more of the grill out. Here's Hollywood,
- 23:33Speaker 2: Jeff pet welcome back with maybe a gentlemen to the grill.
- 23:37Speaker 2: I'm your host, Hollywood Jeff Patty, and I'm not joined
- 23:40Speaker 2: by my co host. Okay, neither one of them are
- 23:43Speaker 2: here today. One is on assignment, the other one is
- 23:46Speaker 2: at an undisclosed location. Also, I'm feeling under the weather.
- 23:49Speaker 2: Like I said in the previous segment, I'm not really Yeah,
- 23:54Speaker 2: I don't want to get anybody sick, and you know,
- 23:57Speaker 2: they have their own lives and you know, we do
- 23:59Speaker 2: this we I've said on the program before that we
- 24:02Speaker 2: do this show out of the love of professional wrestling.
- 24:05Speaker 2: That's really how the three of us became friends in
- 24:06Speaker 2: the first place, was because all three of us were
- 24:09Speaker 2: professional wrestling fans. So you know, professional wrestling makes the
- 24:13Speaker 2: world go round. But yes, thank you for joining us
- 24:16Speaker 2: here on the Grill Out. No matter where you're listening
- 24:19Speaker 2: to this on. If you're listening to this on fourteen
- 24:21Speaker 2: ninety am WSWW, or if you're listening to this on
- 24:25Speaker 2: one of the many many podcasting platforms we are on.
- 24:30Speaker 2: So yeah, I did mention in the previous segment about
- 24:34Speaker 2: a debut that has been confirmed. The MotorCity Machine Guns
- 24:39Speaker 2: are all but confirmed for WWE. On this past episode
- 24:44Speaker 2: of SmackDown, during a coming Soon vignette, the letters MCMG
- 24:50Speaker 2: popped up on the screen, basically saying that the MotorCity
- 24:54Speaker 2: Machine Guns are on their way to WB and they
- 24:56Speaker 2: will debut next week on SmackDown. We talked about this
- 25:01Speaker 2: last week. There was a lot of speculation about the
- 25:05Speaker 2: Motor City machine Guns. At one point, I think there
- 25:08Speaker 2: was speculation that they were going to go to AEW,
- 25:11Speaker 2: but it seems like the deal fell through there, so
- 25:14Speaker 2: they are going to go over to WWE looks like
- 25:17Speaker 2: they're going to skip right over NXT and go straight
- 25:20Speaker 2: to the main roster and debut next week on SmackDown.
- 25:24Speaker 2: And like I said, it was all but confirmed when
- 25:27Speaker 2: the vignette started, we saw some you know, in some
- 25:32Speaker 2: of the vignettes, we saw images of the City of Detroit,
- 25:36Speaker 2: which you know, if you do not know, the city
- 25:38Speaker 2: of Detroit's nickname is the Motor City, so you know
- 25:42Speaker 2: you have the Motor City machine guns. But it does
- 25:45Speaker 2: look like that they will be returning next week, well
- 25:49Speaker 2: not returning, they will be debuting next week one SmackDown. See,
- 25:54Speaker 2: this is how you can tell. This is how you
- 25:55Speaker 2: can tell. I'm sick. I know, I mess up from
- 25:57Speaker 2: time to time on this show. Okay, I try, I try.
- 26:00Speaker 2: I give it the old college try. But you could
- 26:02Speaker 2: tell I'm hopped up a little bit on cough medicine
- 26:05Speaker 2: because yeah this anytime the weather changes, I tend to
- 26:09Speaker 2: get sick. And just to stick with w B, deaf
- 26:14Speaker 2: rebel Is is pretty much out, you know, not out
- 26:17Speaker 2: fully yet, but it seems like that is the direction
- 26:21Speaker 2: that WB is going to go in amidst a lot
- 26:23Speaker 2: of criticism for Deaf Rebel's themes, and and Josh, who
- 26:28Speaker 2: has an extensive background of music, has said, you know,
- 26:32Speaker 2: not all of his themes are are bad, but some
- 26:35Speaker 2: of them are not the A lot of them are
- 26:38Speaker 2: not the greatest, Okay, a lot of them just seem
- 26:40Speaker 2: like they're mashed up and this and that. And then
- 26:42Speaker 2: you know, we had CFO at one point, right after
- 26:46Speaker 2: Jim Johnston was released by the company, CFO took over
- 26:50Speaker 2: and then they were, you know, let go, and then
- 26:54Speaker 2: Deaf Rebel is brought brought in and now here we
- 26:57Speaker 2: are back at square one as far as WWE themes go.
- 27:02Speaker 2: Not that every single theme was bad. You know, we
- 27:06Speaker 2: talked about last week about the Bloodlines theme, about Roman
- 27:09Speaker 2: Reins's new theme. It's it's exceptional, it really is. It's
- 27:12Speaker 2: a very good one. But then there's other ones where
- 27:15Speaker 2: you're like, oh, that's bad. But one person who hardly
- 27:21Speaker 2: ever missed when it came to a professional wrestling theme,
- 27:24Speaker 2: the legendary Jim Johnston. Now, a lot of people with
- 27:28Speaker 2: Deaf Rebels inevitable exit from WWE from criticisms for their
- 27:32Speaker 2: theme songs. Some fans have wanted Jim Johnston to return
- 27:36Speaker 2: to creating music for WWE. They may not. That may
- 27:39Speaker 2: not happen at all due to the nature in which
- 27:42Speaker 2: Johnson exited the company in twenty seventeen and the fact
- 27:46Speaker 2: the fact that he is seventy two years old. I
- 27:48Speaker 2: didn't know Jim Johnston was that old. And for those
- 27:51Speaker 2: of you out there that you know, may have just
- 27:53Speaker 2: tuned in or you're like, hey, I heard about this
- 27:55Speaker 2: professional wrestling podcast. I've been trying to get into pro wrestling.
- 27:59Speaker 2: Know that, you know pre if you haven't watched, if
- 28:02Speaker 2: you didn't watch wrestling pre twenty seventeen, Okay, Jim Johnston.
- 28:07Speaker 2: To put it into perspective, he is the John Williams
- 28:09Speaker 2: in my opinion, he is the John Williams of professional
- 28:13Speaker 2: wrestling themes, flat out okay. The man never missed. He
- 28:18Speaker 2: never did. There was never There was never a There
- 28:22Speaker 2: may have been a few bad themes, but there wasn't many.
- 28:26Speaker 2: I promise you that one. There were not many bad
- 28:29Speaker 2: themes that Jim Johnston, you know, put out there. Johnston
- 28:34Speaker 2: has expressed interest in doing some pro wrestling themes. Most notably,
- 28:38Speaker 2: he reached out to AW a few years ago, but
- 28:41Speaker 2: they did not have interest in the legendary composer. A
- 28:45Speaker 2: year ago, Johnston did have this to say while speaking
- 28:48Speaker 2: with Conrad Thompson on Conversations with Conrad quote, I actually
- 28:52Speaker 2: approached AW at one point to write some themes for them,
- 28:56Speaker 2: with no interest. The way I approached it's very po
- 29:00Speaker 2: hospel that the people in charge never got that memo.
- 29:02Speaker 2: I'd be happy to write themes for them. I'd be
- 29:05Speaker 2: happy to write themes for w but I would never
- 29:07Speaker 2: want to get as immersed as I was. So Yeah,
- 29:12Speaker 2: and and just to you know, sing Jim Johnston's praises
- 29:16Speaker 2: even more. You know, the Stone Cold Steam song, Mick
- 29:20Speaker 2: Foley's theme song, the Undertaker's theme song, curt Angle, he
- 29:24Speaker 2: wrote the song. He wrote the game, you know, the
- 29:28Speaker 2: song of the game for Triple H that Motorhead eventually
- 29:31Speaker 2: played and recorded. You know, he wrote that the man.
- 29:37Speaker 2: I'm not saying that he is the John Williams of
- 29:39Speaker 2: professional wrestling themes for just just for you know, just
- 29:42Speaker 2: to just to say it, just for giggles, Okay, I'm
- 29:45Speaker 2: not saying it for that. I'm saying it simply because
- 29:47Speaker 2: it is true. Jim Johnston is is the man when
- 29:51Speaker 2: it comes to two professional wrestling themes, and listening to
- 29:54Speaker 2: the to the Conrad Thompson interview, you could tell like
- 29:58Speaker 2: he the man wants to demand, he still wants to
- 30:00Speaker 2: make music. But you know, I don't know who would
- 30:04Speaker 2: have interest at the moment. I would, I would, honestly,
- 30:08Speaker 2: just so Jim Johnston can get his flours. I think
- 30:11Speaker 2: he should. I think he is easily a Hall of
- 30:14Speaker 2: Fame contender for WW or for the Pro Wrestling Hall
- 30:18Speaker 2: of Fame, whichever, especially the WWE Hall of Fame. Now,
- 30:21Speaker 2: I don't know if maybe there's some bad feelings between
- 30:25Speaker 2: the two parties, but I think that, yeah, I absolutely
- 30:29Speaker 2: think that Jim Johnston should be in the WW Hall
- 30:32Speaker 2: of Fame. Actually, let's start Let's start that now. If
- 30:35Speaker 2: you're listening to this wherever and they're you know, got
- 30:37Speaker 2: a comment section below, go ahead and say, Jim Johnston
- 30:40Speaker 2: for you know, WW Hall of Fame Class of twenty
- 30:43Speaker 2: twenty five, class of twenty twenty six, twenty twenty seven,
- 30:47Speaker 2: twenty twenty eight, whichever, he should be in the Hall
- 30:50Speaker 2: of Fame. Absolutely. I don't think there is I don't
- 30:53Speaker 2: know if there is much, if any argument against that.
- 30:58Speaker 2: And that's you know, and that's my opinion. I've again
- 31:02Speaker 2: some of the greatest themes, some of the greatest professional
- 31:04Speaker 2: wrestling themes from my childhood were created by Jim Johnston.
- 31:09Speaker 2: And I didn't know about Jim Johnston until, you know,
- 31:11Speaker 2: until I got my first professional wrestling record, okay, which
- 31:15Speaker 2: was what was it ww WWF Forcible Entry Okay, I
- 31:19Speaker 2: think that was two thousand and two. There were a
- 31:21Speaker 2: couple songs in there wrote by Jim Johnston. You know,
- 31:24Speaker 2: when I when I was younger and I was trying,
- 31:27Speaker 2: I taught myself how to edit professional wrestling like Titan drawns,
- 31:31Speaker 2: like you know, the little entrance videos they have up
- 31:33Speaker 2: on the big Titan dron when it come out. I
- 31:34Speaker 2: taught myself in a Windows movie maker how to make those.
- 31:37Speaker 2: And I'm not gonna lie I did. I ripped some.
- 31:42Speaker 2: I was able to find an acchoir. I'll say this,
- 31:44Speaker 2: I'll find an acchoir some h professional wrestling themes. And
- 31:49Speaker 2: there was always oh, who is the artist of this
- 31:52Speaker 2: Jim Johnston. I've never heard of him, never heard of him.
- 31:56Speaker 2: Then you get older and you're like, oh wow, this
- 31:59Speaker 2: guy really really was like the the conductor, you know,
- 32:03Speaker 2: for my fro My from my childhood, which is crazy,
- 32:08Speaker 2: you know. But I truly do think that Jim Johnson
- 32:10Speaker 2: should be in the Hall of Fame. But I don't
- 32:11Speaker 2: think he will be returning. Some people are, you know,
- 32:14Speaker 2: and it's it's mainly online professional wrestling fans. I don't
- 32:18Speaker 2: see Jim Johnston returning. I just don't. Again, the man
- 32:22Speaker 2: is seventy two years old. I think that there is
- 32:26Speaker 2: still some bad blood. I don't know. I don't know.
- 32:28Speaker 2: Now with Triple H in Charger may not be as much.
- 32:31Speaker 2: And especially where you know, some of the old regime
- 32:34Speaker 2: is gone, such as Kevin Dunn who used to be
- 32:36Speaker 2: the television director for for WWTV. You know, Bruce Brichard's
- 32:42Speaker 2: still there. I don't know. I have no idea what
- 32:45Speaker 2: kind of relationship he had with Jim Johnston. And I
- 32:48Speaker 2: you know, Vince is not there, so you know, most
- 32:51Speaker 2: of the old regime is not at ww anymore. So there,
- 32:54Speaker 2: I think there is a chance, but I don't I
- 32:56Speaker 2: just don't see it happening. I don't see them wanting
- 32:59Speaker 2: to bring in a somebody who is who is is
- 33:02Speaker 2: his age. I think they should, you know, bring him
- 33:04Speaker 2: in for a little bit and He even said he
- 33:06Speaker 2: doesn't want to be as immersed as he was, so
- 33:09Speaker 2: maybe bring him in for special you know, special themes,
- 33:12Speaker 2: special reasons. You know, I still I do think that. Yeah,
- 33:16Speaker 2: I'm I'm gonna I know, I've already said it several times,
- 33:19Speaker 2: going to say it again. He should be in the
- 33:20Speaker 2: Hall of Fame. Jim Johnston should easily be in the
- 33:22Speaker 2: Hall of Fame. If we're going to put what was
- 33:25Speaker 2: it Vince Senior's cap, you know, limo driver or whatever
- 33:30Speaker 2: in the Hall of Fame, that Jim Johnston absolutely should
- 33:33Speaker 2: be in the Hall of Fame. And I don't think
- 33:34Speaker 2: there's any any question there. I just don't. But it
- 33:38Speaker 2: does not look like that Jim Johnston will be returning
- 33:41Speaker 2: to WW any anytime soon. This past week, you know,
- 33:47Speaker 2: you've heard me on the program several times talk about
- 33:50Speaker 2: how much I love Japanese wrestling. It's no secret, it's
- 33:55Speaker 2: really not of how much I enjoy pudu resu. Okay,
- 34:00Speaker 2: I did find a new YouTuber, new wrestling YouTuber on
- 34:05Speaker 2: on YouTube to talk about, you know, Japanese professional wrestling,
- 34:09Speaker 2: and I think his name is Colin Wrestling. On there,
- 34:13Speaker 2: he does a phenomenal job phenomenal job of detailing these
- 34:17Speaker 2: stories and stuff and one of my all time favorite wrestlers.
- 34:21Speaker 2: He's in my top five easy. Is one of the
- 34:25Speaker 2: four pillars of all Japan in the nineties, and that's
- 34:27Speaker 2: mitsu Hara Mazawa. Now, for those of you that do
- 34:31Speaker 2: not know, Mitz Mazawa is not, I won't I won't
- 34:37Speaker 2: dive too deep into it because I would like to
- 34:39Speaker 2: do maybe a grill out hot tags on him. But
- 34:43Speaker 2: mitter row Mazawa was at one point one of the
- 34:46Speaker 2: most influential wrestlers in Japan. Okay, he was. He was.
- 34:52Speaker 2: He was one of the top one of, if not
- 34:54Speaker 2: the top professional wrestler in Japan. He was very close
- 34:57Speaker 2: to Giant Baba, who was the head booker for UH
- 35:03Speaker 2: for All Japan back in the eighties and ninety seventies,
- 35:06Speaker 2: all of that. When Baba died, actually UH mitter Rome
- 35:10Speaker 2: Mazzoua took over as president and pretty much took over
- 35:13Speaker 2: Giant Baba's role. But that's when there were there were
- 35:16Speaker 2: a lot of friction, was a lot of friction between
- 35:19Speaker 2: him and Baba's widow, who took care of the business
- 35:22Speaker 2: side of things. She took care of merchandising and and
- 35:25Speaker 2: and and tickets and and whatnot. You know, she was
- 35:27Speaker 2: more of the business side of things, whereas Baba dealt
- 35:30Speaker 2: more of the creative side. And also Baba's widow was known.
- 35:34Speaker 2: His wife was was known as the bearer of bad news.
- 35:37Speaker 2: She would be the one to deliver the bad news
- 35:39Speaker 2: to the to the wrestlers. They didn't want Baba doing
- 35:42Speaker 2: it because they didn't want his you know, it was
- 35:44Speaker 2: it was to keep his reputation intact with quote unquote
- 35:47Speaker 2: the boys with the locker room, so that he would
- 35:49Speaker 2: still have their respect. But you know, Mitter rome Azowa,
- 35:53Speaker 2: he has this this friction between him and and the
- 35:57Speaker 2: wife of Giant Baba, the widow of Giant Baba. Uh
- 36:00Speaker 2: and they moved. You know, it got It became so
- 36:05Speaker 2: bad that Mitz Romazawa just quietly was going around telling everybody, likes, hey,
- 36:11Speaker 2: I got an idea, like let's just go start our
- 36:13Speaker 2: own promotion. Okay. Well, well, you know he was he
- 36:17Speaker 2: was approached by the people who who had all Japan's
- 36:22Speaker 2: television show. They approached Mitzer rome Iszawa was like, hey,
- 36:26Speaker 2: we'll give it to you, and in like one felt
- 36:29Speaker 2: swoop overnight, pretty much Mitzer rome Azala took everybody but
- 36:33Speaker 2: like two wrestlers from All Japan's All Japan's roster and
- 36:37Speaker 2: took their TV slot and everything like just crazy, just
- 36:42Speaker 2: just absolutely crazy, and you know, he created pro wrestling Noah.
- 36:48Speaker 2: He was the top star in Pro Wrestling Noah. But
- 36:50Speaker 2: later on in Mitzer Romazoua's what life, his health was
- 36:55Speaker 2: really starting to deteriorate, and he had a style him
- 37:00Speaker 2: Kinta Kabashi, uh Toshiyaka, Kawada, and Nakira Tao all four
- 37:05Speaker 2: they were the four pillars of of of a Japan.
- 37:09Speaker 2: Juneakiyama was also like a note, like a not He
- 37:14Speaker 2: wasn't part of the four pillars, but he was like
- 37:16Speaker 2: an honorary member of them. They popularized this style professional
- 37:20Speaker 2: wrestling called King's Road because back in the eighties the
- 37:24Speaker 2: All Japan had a lot of no finishes, a lot
- 37:27Speaker 2: of d Q finishes, a lot of run ins. You know,
- 37:31Speaker 2: once the new era came about Mazzala and company, that
- 37:36Speaker 2: didn't happen very often. A lot of wrestling, a lot
- 37:39Speaker 2: of matches at that point, they either went to you know,
- 37:42Speaker 2: most of the time it went to U a pinfall
- 37:46Speaker 2: you did have some submission matches, and every once in
- 37:48Speaker 2: a while you would have a d D but not
- 37:50Speaker 2: very often, not very often. But they popularized popularized a
- 37:55Speaker 2: style called King's Road or Odo is another name for it,
- 37:59Speaker 2: and it was a very hard hitting style of professional wrestling.
- 38:02Speaker 2: It was very It was in a way similar to
- 38:05Speaker 2: Japanese Strong Style, which took a lot of inspiration from
- 38:08Speaker 2: UH Mixed Martial Arts, but Kings Road was something totally different.
- 38:14Speaker 2: You know, Kings Road could be very could be a
- 38:16Speaker 2: rather dangerous style because there were a lot of dangerous bumps,
- 38:21Speaker 2: a lot of neck bumps. I mean, look at what
- 38:24Speaker 2: what was the Tiger Driver ninety six, like that was
- 38:27Speaker 2: that was Masala. Look at the burning Hammer from Kento Kabashi,
- 38:31Speaker 2: Like you're basically getting dropped on your head, the Gonzo bomb,
- 38:34Speaker 2: same thing. You're getting dropped on your head basically. Yeah,
- 38:37Speaker 2: it's not like not like a power slam and you're
- 38:39Speaker 2: landing on your back and you know you're taking most
- 38:41Speaker 2: of the most of the the impact is being absorbed
- 38:45Speaker 2: into your upper back and shoulders, like some of it
- 38:47Speaker 2: was being absorbed into their necks. So you know that
- 38:50Speaker 2: Mazawa never changed his style other wrestlers who were wrestling
- 38:54Speaker 2: around the same time as him, such as Kaiji Muto,
- 38:57Speaker 2: the Great Muda. He starts to have knee problems, he
- 39:01Speaker 2: changed his style. You know, he wasn't he was wrestling
- 39:04Speaker 2: around the time. He wasn't one of the top people
- 39:06Speaker 2: at the time. But Stone Colt, Steve Austin notably at
- 39:09Speaker 2: one point was a rather technical professional wrestler. Gets dropped
- 39:12Speaker 2: on his head her you know, he's having knee problems.
- 39:15Speaker 2: He changed his style around to where he could be
- 39:17Speaker 2: more of a brawler. Mazowa never did that. Massawa kept
- 39:22Speaker 2: that same hard hitting King's road style to him and
- 39:28Speaker 2: you know that coupled with a poor diet and a
- 39:34Speaker 2: constantly you know, working because because at that time pro
- 39:38Speaker 2: wrestling Noah did not you know, a lot of their
- 39:40Speaker 2: money didn't come from television. They had a i think
- 39:42Speaker 2: a thirty minute time slot at like midnight or twelve
- 39:47Speaker 2: thirty one o'clock in the morning, so a lot of
- 39:50Speaker 2: their money didn't come from television. That was kind of
- 39:52Speaker 2: where it was kind of like how it was, you know,
- 39:55Speaker 2: you would use television to promote your house shows, and
- 39:57Speaker 2: that's where you made your money. Kind of like how
- 39:58Speaker 2: it was in the territory days. You didn't put everything
- 40:01Speaker 2: on television. You wanted certain things to not be on
- 40:03Speaker 2: television because you want people to come to the show.
- 40:07Speaker 2: Same thing for pro wrestling, Noah in those days. And
- 40:09Speaker 2: that was early two thousands, so I mean, and they were,
- 40:14Speaker 2: they were taken off. But it just it got to
- 40:17Speaker 2: the point to where Massawa's hard hitting style, his health,
- 40:22Speaker 2: his his some of his life choices. I know that
- 40:24Speaker 2: I think he was a He did drink and he
- 40:27Speaker 2: smoked cigarettes, and uh, from what I heard, he didn't.
- 40:31Speaker 2: He never really slept very well because he had the
- 40:36Speaker 2: he had the weight of the entire company on the shoulders. Uh.
- 40:40Speaker 2: And it just all came to a head in two
- 40:43Speaker 2: thousand and nine when Massawa took a just a simple
- 40:46Speaker 2: back body drop and it you know, uh, it killed
- 40:53Speaker 2: him right there. It was so I have wrote down
- 40:56Speaker 2: here material Mazowa passed away in the ring from a
- 40:59Speaker 2: flat body drop up from a Kitoshi Saito in two
- 41:03Speaker 2: thousand and nine. His King's Road style of wrestling, coupled
- 41:05Speaker 2: with poor diet, led to his declining health and subsequent passing.
- 41:09Speaker 2: It is believed that Massawa's death was caused by civical,
- 41:11Speaker 2: a cervical spinal cord injury that led to cardiac arrest. Now,
- 41:15Speaker 2: the crazy thing I've learned about this, But the crazy
- 41:18Speaker 2: thing is about Massawa. Two years before he died, Mitsara
- 41:21Speaker 2: Mazawa wrote a letter intended to be sent in case
- 41:24Speaker 2: he died in the ring to his last opponent. It
- 41:28Speaker 2: says something like quote, I'm sure you trusted me and
- 41:31Speaker 2: were doing your best, and I betrayed that trust. I'm
- 41:34Speaker 2: really sorry. End quote. And the letter goes on to
- 41:38Speaker 2: say that I want you to continue professional wrestling. Syito
- 41:41Speaker 2: didn't want to. Sito at one point was having was
- 41:44Speaker 2: in a really dark place, and you know, and people
- 41:48Speaker 2: were because Massawa was loved. He was beloved. I don't
- 41:51Speaker 2: want to go too far into it, but he was beloved,
- 41:53Speaker 2: and a lot of people, you see it these days,
- 41:56Speaker 2: a lot of people went after cyto uh Akatoshi Sitito, Yeah,
- 42:01Speaker 2: really went after him. And he didn't deserve that. He
- 42:03Speaker 2: didn't deserve any of that, did not deserve any of that.
- 42:06Speaker 2: So but I just I thought, I it's just a
- 42:09Speaker 2: crazy thing. I learned about mitzer rohme is Owl this
- 42:11Speaker 2: past weekend, and I first I wasn't gonna bring it
- 42:14Speaker 2: up one here, but my girlfriend told me. She's like, hey,
- 42:15Speaker 2: go ahead, give it a shot. Go okay, all right,
- 42:18Speaker 2: I'll go ahead and talk about it. The guys are
- 42:20Speaker 2: not here, so I don't have to aggrevate them. I
- 42:21Speaker 2: can disaggregate you, the listener. I'm sorry, I do. I
- 42:25Speaker 2: love Japanese wrestling. It's so it's it's fascinating to me.
- 42:28Speaker 2: I love American wrestling and Lucha Libra and then a
- 42:32Speaker 2: British strong style and whatnot. But I don't know, there's
- 42:34Speaker 2: something about Puddo wrestler that just I really really enjoy it.
- 42:39Speaker 2: So AnyWho, Yeah, that's all that I have right now
- 42:42Speaker 2: for Mitz Rome is Owl. Like I said, I do
- 42:44Speaker 2: want to do a grill Out hot tag on him,
- 42:47Speaker 2: and we very well may in the future. But we
- 42:50Speaker 2: just did one on the infamous mood A scale and
- 42:52Speaker 2: how it became a thing. Go check that out. That
- 42:55Speaker 2: is on all of our podcasting platforms, including YouTube. But
- 42:59Speaker 2: with that being's said, we're gonna pause it right there,
- 43:02Speaker 2: Shift Gears. Now we have the main event. It looks
- 43:07Speaker 2: like all the topic has been done.
- 43:09Speaker 1: It's time for the main event.
- 43:12Speaker 2: And now it is time for the main event, where
- 43:16Speaker 2: we let you know what your upcoming week of professional
- 43:19Speaker 2: wrestling is going to look like internationally, nationally, and locally.
- 43:25Speaker 2: I didn't say this at the top of the program.
- 43:26Speaker 2: I probably should have. There will be not there, There
- 43:30Speaker 2: will be not. There will not be a grill Out
- 43:33Speaker 2: next week. The Grill Out will There will not be
- 43:35Speaker 2: an episode of the Grill Out next week. I will
- 43:38Speaker 2: be out of town. Like I said, there the other
- 43:43Speaker 2: Josh and Jason both they have other things to deal with.
- 43:46Speaker 2: They have other things going on. But as far as
- 43:50Speaker 2: the Grill Out goes episode wise, next week, there will
- 43:56Speaker 2: not be one. So with that being said, we're not
- 43:58Speaker 2: just going to give you the next week of professional
- 44:02Speaker 2: wrestling like we normally would. We're going to go ahead
- 44:06Speaker 2: and give you the next two weeks of professional wrestling,
- 44:09Speaker 2: and then we will come back on October I think
- 44:12Speaker 2: twenty seventh. So yeah, next week it's the thirteenth, The
- 44:15Speaker 2: next week will be the twentieth, and then after that
- 44:17Speaker 2: the twenty seventh. Man, we're getting close to Halloween. Anyway, Internationally,
- 44:22Speaker 2: we have a couple of shows going on actually tonight
- 44:26Speaker 2: our time. It'll be tomorrow in Japan, New Japan Pro
- 44:30Speaker 2: Wrestlings King of Pro Wrestling twenty twenty four, Zach Saber
- 44:34Speaker 2: Junior will be taking on IWGPT World Heavyweight Champion tetsu
- 44:39Speaker 2: Ya Naito. We talked about this before. Zach Saber Junior
- 44:43Speaker 2: is only the second Guidjin to win the g One Climax,
- 44:48Speaker 2: and when you win the g One Climax, you get
- 44:50Speaker 2: a shot at the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. Typically the
- 44:55Speaker 2: winner of the Climax will go to Wrestle Kingdom and
- 44:59Speaker 2: face them in in the main event. Not this time around.
- 45:02Speaker 2: Zach Saber Junior wants to beat tetsu Unito so that
- 45:06Speaker 2: the next week, on October twentieth, New Japan Pro Wrestling's
- 45:10Speaker 2: Royal Quest four will take place in England. He wants
- 45:14Speaker 2: to walk in there in his home country with the
- 45:17Speaker 2: ISWGP World Heavyweight Championship. So again, and we talked a
- 45:20Speaker 2: little bit about King of Pro Wrestling because it is
- 45:22Speaker 2: around that time of year for that pay per view
- 45:26Speaker 2: for New Japan. We talked about that in the on
- 45:29Speaker 2: This Day in Wrestling History when Hiroshi tanahah she bet
- 45:32Speaker 2: aj Styles to win his record seventh ISWGP Heavyweight Championship,
- 45:37Speaker 2: not World Heavyweight Championship. Yeah, there is a there is
- 45:40Speaker 2: a difference between the two. Okay, I don't know the
- 45:44Speaker 2: entire story off the top of my head. Plus, like
- 45:46Speaker 2: I said, I'm I'm a little under the weather right now,
- 45:49Speaker 2: and so that's hindering certain things. But yeah, that's on
- 45:53Speaker 2: October fourteenth. October nineteenth AEW Battle of the Belts twelve
- 45:58Speaker 2: at ten pm Eastern on T and T immediately after Collision.
- 46:02Speaker 2: So this upcoming Saturday, not only will you get a
- 46:06Speaker 2: TOW Collision, but right after that you will get aw
- 46:08Speaker 2: Battle of the Belts. And as far as television professional
- 46:12Speaker 2: wrestling on television, it's going to be pretty much the same.
- 46:16Speaker 2: This week, Monday Night Raw is down to two hours
- 46:19Speaker 2: and it will remain at two hours until they go
- 46:21Speaker 2: over to Netflix, but it will be Monday Night ROW,
- 46:25Speaker 2: Tuesday will be NXT, Wednesday will be Dynamite. Dynamite is
- 46:28Speaker 2: moving back to Wednesday this week. Thursday will be Ring
- 46:31Speaker 2: of Honor and TNA. Friday will be SmackDown and Rampage,
- 46:36Speaker 2: and then Saturday will be Collision followed by Battle of
- 46:40Speaker 2: the Belts twelve at ten pm Eastern. October twenty sixth
- 46:44Speaker 2: TNA's bound for Glory pay per view the TNA. In
- 46:47Speaker 2: the main event, TNA World Champion nickname it will be
- 46:50Speaker 2: defending his total against say his name, and he appears.
- 46:55Speaker 2: I believe in Joe Hendry. I just had to do that.
- 47:00Speaker 2: I just said, such a dork. And then on October
- 47:04Speaker 2: twenty seventh, NX see Halloween Havoc will be taking place again.
- 47:09Speaker 2: That is what your next couple of weeks will be
- 47:11Speaker 2: internationally and nationally for professional wrestling as far as locally.
- 47:19Speaker 2: Like I said, We're gonna ahead and give you a
- 47:22Speaker 2: couple the next couple of weeks. About a couple of
- 47:25Speaker 2: weeks weeks ago, we had announced it All Star Wrestling
- 47:28Speaker 2: would hold a memorial event for Mike Little Call to
- 47:30Speaker 2: Barbecue beat Down at Little Cafes Little's Cafe in Stoling's,
- 47:34Speaker 2: West Virginia. However, it was canceled due to Hurricane Helen.

- 47:45Speaker 2: to bring your own chair. Yeah it's it's b yoc.

- 48:59Speaker 2: up as you my favorite professional wrestler. Okay, if I
- 49:01Speaker 2: don't see at least one macho man Randy Savage I
- 49:04Speaker 2: will be a little bit disappointed, but that's just me.
- 49:07Speaker 2: Atlantic Terror Championship Wrestling presents Bad Blood at the Leetown

- 52:02Speaker 2: included in our announcements on our Facebook page. I've mentioned
- 52:06Speaker 2: on the program before about how good of a job
- 52:07Speaker 2: that Josh does with our social media. He is the
- 52:10Speaker 2: main guy who handles the Facebook page, so we always
- 52:14Speaker 2: give an update there of where you can find all
- 52:17Speaker 2: of these professional wrestling events, where you can uh yeah yeah,
- 52:21Speaker 2: where you can find all of these professional wrestling events.
- 52:25Speaker 2: And if you have not liked the Facebook page, please
- 52:28Speaker 2: do so. We've got so much engagement over there from
- 52:30Speaker 2: people from from from local promotions, from fans, from UH wrestlers,
- 52:35Speaker 2: unlike it's it has been. It's it's been very nice
- 52:39Speaker 2: to see everybody showing their support for this show. And
- 52:44Speaker 2: you know, we we very much try our best to
- 52:47Speaker 2: get the word out about local wrestling. You know, I've
- 52:51Speaker 2: I've said numerous times on my social media accounts, support
- 52:54Speaker 2: local wrestling. Everybody will talk about go out and support
- 52:58Speaker 2: your mom and pop shops, and I agree, I wholeheartedly
- 53:02Speaker 2: agree with that sentiment. But also go out and support
- 53:06Speaker 2: your local professional wrestling promotions because they you know, they
- 53:12Speaker 2: put on great shows and they they they don't they
- 53:15Speaker 2: don't have a TV deal to where they can they
- 53:17Speaker 2: can lean back on that. You know, a lot of
- 53:19Speaker 2: the professional wrestlers that go there, they have their own
- 53:21Speaker 2: gimmick tables, you know, they make their money for the
- 53:24Speaker 2: for the promotions themselves. I don't know this for a
- 53:27Speaker 2: for sure for a fact, but I believe that a
- 53:29Speaker 2: lot of them, you know, reallyand tickets. So go there,
- 53:33Speaker 2: go there for these UH for these events, Support these
- 53:35Speaker 2: professional wrestlers, support local wrestling, and of course go like
- 53:39Speaker 2: the Facebook page because we will keep you updated on
- 53:42Speaker 2: all of that. And we're gonna stop it right there,
- 53:44Speaker 2: and when we come back, we're gonna wrap everything up.
- 53:48Speaker 2: Stay tuned once again. Here's Hollywood, Jeff Petty. Welcome back,
- 54:01Speaker 2: ladies and gentlemen to the Grill Out, to the finals.
- 54:04Speaker 2: The show's practically over. We're just wrapping things up. I'm
- 54:07Speaker 2: wrapping things up right now in a neat, neat little bow.
- 54:10Speaker 2: Like I said in the previous segment, there will not
- 54:12Speaker 2: be an episode of The Grill Out next week. So
- 54:15Speaker 2: October twentieth, we will not have an episode go out.
- 54:17Speaker 2: I will be out of town. I won't even be
- 54:19Speaker 2: in the state next week. Josh and Jason both have
- 54:23Speaker 2: other things, other obligations they have to take care of,
- 54:26Speaker 2: so we're just gonna take a break next week. We
- 54:28Speaker 2: will be back though one October twenty seventh, and like
- 54:32Speaker 2: I said, for all of the local professional wrestling events,
- 54:35Speaker 2: we will be posting about them on our Facebook page.
- 54:38Speaker 2: And if you have not liked the Facebook page, just
- 54:41Speaker 2: you know, go up to the search bar in Facebook
- 54:44Speaker 2: type in the Grill Out and you'll see the logo. Okay,
- 54:47Speaker 2: we're there. To everybody that has been talking on there
- 54:50Speaker 2: and liking things, sharing it whatever, thank you, And this
- 54:55Speaker 2: is just something I want to say real quick. As
- 54:57Speaker 2: the host of the show. I just want to say
- 54:59Speaker 2: thank you everybody that has helped on this show, and
- 55:02Speaker 2: I want to thank everybody that has shown their support
- 55:05Speaker 2: for this show. It means a lot to the three
- 55:07Speaker 2: of us when we you know, at times get recognized
- 55:10Speaker 2: or at times, you know, we do get some type
- 55:13Speaker 2: of thumbs up from people saying, hey, you know, you
- 55:16Speaker 2: guys are doing a good job and we're trying. You know,
- 55:18Speaker 2: we do it for the love of professional wrestling. Like
- 55:20Speaker 2: I said earlier in the show towards the top of
- 55:23Speaker 2: the show is you know, we're all three of us
- 55:24Speaker 2: were friends, we're friends, we're fans of professional wrestling, and
- 55:28Speaker 2: we became friends because of that. So yeah, with that
- 55:33Speaker 2: being said, you know, go like the Facebook page if
- 55:35Speaker 2: you would like to. If you got comments on the show,
- 55:38Speaker 2: you got something particular you want us to talk about,
- 55:40Speaker 2: or particular show you want us to cover, email us
- 55:43Speaker 2: at the Grill Out in ninety five at gmail dot com.
- 55:46Speaker 2: And again we will not have a show next week.
- 55:49Speaker 2: But with all of that being said, and until next time,
- 55:53Speaker 2: my fellow wrestling fans have a good one. They don't,
- 55:56Speaker 2: they don't, They don't say big and toured night's brid
