- 0:17Speaker 1: Beard Law number four. The number four is the number
- 0:19Speaker 1: of stability order completion of justice and symbolizes building a
- 0:23Speaker 1: strong foundation. The Pathagoians believe the number four was a
- 0:25Speaker 1: perfect number. Pathagoians also had great Beard's coincidence, I think not.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen. Thank you for tuning in.
- 0:32Speaker 1: You must like what you've heard because you're back. This
- 0:35Speaker 1: is Beard Laws Podcast Episode four. I'm excited. I'm always excited,
- 0:39Speaker 1: but I'm excited for this episode. Have a couple of
- 0:41Speaker 1: cool things, some of the same stuff that hopefully you
- 0:43Speaker 1: guys like a little bit of new stuff, hopefully you
- 0:45Speaker 1: will like. Going to discuss the bass Masters event that
- 0:48Speaker 1: was held in Waddington, New York that I attended. Going
- 0:50Speaker 1: to discuss the Falls Festival twenty nineteen cornhole tournament that
- 0:55Speaker 1: was ran and sponsored partially by Beard Laws. Hopefully going
- 0:58Speaker 1: to set up an interview with the Bearded Villain member
- 1:01Speaker 1: that was at the World meet up out in La
- 1:04Speaker 1: Sports with Logan coming up. Hopefully we have the first
- 1:07Speaker 1: segment of two Beards One Record with my fellow two
- 1:09Speaker 1: Beards one Record dude Greg. Going to also talk very
- 1:14Speaker 1: briefly about a new couple new endeavors that we have
- 1:17Speaker 1: going on, some of them on beard laws dot com
- 1:20Speaker 1: and the other one is twitch Official. Beard Laws is
- 1:23Speaker 1: now on Twitch. Let's get right into the episode. Here
- 1:26Speaker 1: we go. You've ever just been sitting there thinking, man,
- 1:28Speaker 1: I could go for a nice cold beer. Well, I
- 1:30Speaker 1: have the spot for you. You need to check out Shars Bar,
- 1:32Speaker 1: located in Morley, New York, serving the North Country's best
- 1:35Speaker 1: pizza roles. Kitchens open Tuesday through Friday and the beer
- 1:38Speaker 1: is always cold. Stop in or check them out on
- 1:40Speaker 1: Sharsbarmarley dot com or on Facebook. Waddington, New York recently
- 1:44Speaker 1: held the bass Masters Elite Series, the twenty nineteen Berkeley
- 1:48Speaker 1: bass Master Elite Series at the Saint Lawrence River, presented
- 1:51Speaker 1: by Black Velvet Best Masters in an elite series obviously
- 1:54Speaker 1: for bass fishing, where competitors go out they qualify for
- 1:57Speaker 1: the series, you know, through many opens and events and
- 2:01Speaker 1: they need points. They need to qualify. Even guys that
- 2:04Speaker 1: have been in it for a little bit still need
- 2:06Speaker 1: to qualify. It's a pretty serious thing. The winner of
- 2:09Speaker 1: the event at Wattington, which ran from August fifteenth to
- 2:12Speaker 1: the eighteenth, was I believe one hundred thousand dollars, so
- 2:15Speaker 1: it's a pretty serious event. The event itself usually is
- 2:19Speaker 1: great for the community. Waddington is a very small town.
- 2:22Speaker 1: It's only located, you know, a little ways from me.
- 2:25Speaker 1: I went to school in a small town similar to Wattington,
- 2:28Speaker 1: actually a little bit smaller. So to get such a
- 2:31Speaker 1: major event into the area, such a big thing, you
- 2:33Speaker 1: get a handful of vendors. I mean, they had every
- 2:36Speaker 1: food truck in the county. Half of them I didn't
- 2:37Speaker 1: even know had food trucks. You get vendors, you know,
- 2:41Speaker 1: anything from selling your CPD oils to phishing lures to
- 2:45Speaker 1: you know, blankets and hand printed signs and stun guns
- 2:48Speaker 1: and knives. There was a whole bunch of knives and
- 2:50Speaker 1: stunt guns that seemed like a terrible idea. And oddly enough,
- 2:53Speaker 1: there was a lot of people that were visiting the
- 2:55Speaker 1: troopers and shaking their hands and looking for free shit.
- 2:59Speaker 1: I don't if they were given away stickers or I
- 3:01Speaker 1: don't know what they were doing. Maybe they were giving
- 3:03Speaker 1: away stun guns too, but there there was an odd
- 3:05Speaker 1: amount of people that were doing that. There was a
- 3:07Speaker 1: handful of vendors. You know, some people that I know fairly. Well,
- 3:11Speaker 1: we're a vendor there provided some alcohol. It was a
- 3:14Speaker 1: local bar. Howies giving you guys a shout out. They
- 3:17Speaker 1: did a great job, very prepared. Beer was cold, real cold.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Staff was friendly. Even through you know, everything that's been there,
- 3:24Speaker 1: this event has been how that Waddington. I believe this
- 3:26Speaker 1: was the fifth year, and I have to admit I've
- 3:28Speaker 1: been to one each year and this seemed to be
- 3:31Speaker 1: the most quiet year of the event. Music. This is
- 3:35Speaker 1: no offense to the people that performing. The people that
- 3:37Speaker 1: perform sounded great, The stage was great. The sound was
- 3:39Speaker 1: a little quiet, but not too terrible. But the names
- 3:42Speaker 1: that they brought in were any caliber of the names
- 3:45Speaker 1: that have been in the past. Rumor has it you
- 3:47Speaker 1: know they were spending about thirty thousand dollars, which entails
- 3:50Speaker 1: you know, a Thursday, a Friday, a Saturday night with fireworks,
- 3:53Speaker 1: a whole everything. And I heard the budget was around
- 3:56Speaker 1: the seven to eight thousand marks. I don't know if
- 3:58Speaker 1: these numbers are true, but that's that's a significant amount
- 4:02Speaker 1: of money that they did not put into entertainment. And
- 4:04Speaker 1: if you're not going to bring big names in and
- 4:06Speaker 1: entertain the people, it makes sense that it was a
- 4:08Speaker 1: very quiet crowd. The weather wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible.
- 4:11Speaker 1: I didn't make it through all of the Sunday event.
- 4:14Speaker 1: I didn't go early, but the way in was great.
- 4:17Speaker 1: I mean there was a good crowd for that and
- 4:18Speaker 1: it had a pretty crazy ending. There was a guy,
- 4:21Speaker 1: Chris Johnson of Peterborough, Canada, was leading through the whole event.
- 4:25Speaker 1: The guy's Canadian grew up fishing, you know around this area,
- 4:29Speaker 1: knew the river very well, just had a great first
- 4:32Speaker 1: three days. Was the hands down favorite to win. And
- 4:35Speaker 1: the guy in tenth place, which was like Meeka Frasier,
- 4:39Speaker 1: I think he was from Georgia. It was tenth place.
- 4:41Speaker 1: So after on Saturday, after it it ends, there's going
- 4:45Speaker 1: into Saturday. After Friday, there's thirty five fishermen. They'll do
- 4:48Speaker 1: the way in and then Saturday they keep the top
- 4:50Speaker 1: ten most weight that is caught per fish. This guy
- 4:53Speaker 1: was in tenth place said, you know, what do you
- 4:55Speaker 1: say something like I knew that I had a chance
- 4:58Speaker 1: as long as the other guys didn't to have big days,
- 5:01Speaker 1: which I mean, sure, that's pretty it's the truth. You know,
- 5:03Speaker 1: if you know, if the other fisherman suck, I got
- 5:05Speaker 1: a chance. But this guy just had a monster day.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Was something like twenty five pounds nine ounces I think
- 5:11Speaker 1: is something like that he brought in on the final day.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Most guys were averaging around nineteen twenty pounds. Just a
- 5:16Speaker 1: crazy day, came from behind and beat the Canadian, the
- 5:19Speaker 1: Canadian guy, Chris. He was pretty let down. I think
- 5:21Speaker 1: the crowd was let down, being so close to Canada,
- 5:23Speaker 1: being a younger guy on the tour. Everybody was kind
- 5:26Speaker 1: of let down. There was even some booze I think
- 5:28Speaker 1: in the crowd. I was. I recorded some audio from
- 5:31Speaker 1: my phone. I don't know the quality. Let's roll a
- 5:33Speaker 1: little bit of the clip from what I had on
- 5:35Speaker 1: my phone, just of the final weigh in. Hopefully this
- 5:38Speaker 1: is cool bass masters. If not, guys, then just skip
- 5:40Speaker 1: through this and don't tell me. All right, like I
- 5:42Speaker 1: said here, let me play its off my phone.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Boom chuck, Look at.
- 5:47Speaker 3: Giant fish. This is not a done deal though with
- 5:51Speaker 3: the deal market. This is a very close finish. Let's
- 5:55Speaker 3: get side by side, guys, two incredible young.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Stars in our sport right now, both nervous as hell.
- 6:02Speaker 1: You could tell that the Canadian dude is a little
- 6:04Speaker 1: nervous right there. You could see it.
- 6:06Speaker 3: House house, and Mike Joba comes from ten place to
- 6:14Speaker 3: the top of the leader board.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Watching a guy just lose out on one hundred thousand
- 6:19Speaker 1: dollars by not a lot, by just a little bit
- 6:22Speaker 1: more of a fish is pretty tough to watch. But
- 6:25Speaker 1: like I said, the reaction of the crowd, I mean,
- 6:27Speaker 1: there were some people clapping. There was just a lot
- 6:29Speaker 1: of people who just kind of were jaw dropped. Everybody thought,
- 6:33Speaker 1: I bet you everybody, even in the competition, thought that
- 6:35Speaker 1: he was going to run away with that didn't. So
- 6:37Speaker 1: congratulations to Micah, the dude from Georgia. He was he
- 6:41Speaker 1: was pretty heartfelt, obviously meant a lot to him. He
- 6:44Speaker 1: was getting choked up reading a couple articles. Apparently he's
- 6:46Speaker 1: just one of those nice Southern, quiet, well spoken guys
- 6:49Speaker 1: you know that puts his time in and UH had
- 6:52Speaker 1: some decent finishes I think, some thirds in some events,
- 6:55Speaker 1: some seconds. I mean, the guy's been grinding and finally
- 6:57Speaker 1: got his UH got his break up here in Wadington,
- 6:59Speaker 1: New York, a place that many fishermen are putting on
- 7:03Speaker 1: the radar. I believe somebody mentioned. I don't know if
- 7:05Speaker 1: it's just bullshit or not that Waddington has been or
- 7:08Speaker 1: not Waddington, but Saint Lawrence River has been deemed the
- 7:10Speaker 1: small mouth, like the top rated small mouth in the
- 7:13Speaker 1: nation for fishing, been getting fished a lot. Hopefully it
- 7:15Speaker 1: doesn't get overfished. I'm not a huge bass fisherman, so
- 7:18Speaker 1: it's not gonna break my heart. But I think it's good.
- 7:20Speaker 1: I mean, these small places are getting put on the map.
- 7:22Speaker 1: People are driving from all over to fish and spending
- 7:25Speaker 1: money up here. I think it's good for the economy.
- 7:27Speaker 1: And you know, this organization, they have to do their homework,
- 7:31Speaker 1: the bass masters to know that. You know, they they
- 7:33Speaker 1: can't overfish it. But we'll see. And I think too
- 7:36Speaker 1: from talking to some people, I had the pleasure of
- 7:39Speaker 1: speaking with a mother and a father of a son
- 7:42Speaker 1: who was in the event in the in the tour,
- 7:45Speaker 1: they travel all over the place. The father was actually
- 7:48Speaker 1: a fishing or is a fishing charterman, and you know
- 7:51Speaker 1: the son.
- 7:52Speaker 2: I think.
- 7:52Speaker 1: She said, both of her sons are just avid fishermen. Naturally,
- 7:55Speaker 1: they're from like central New York area, fished on a
- 7:58Speaker 1: lot of lakes, grew up fishing, decided I want to
- 8:00Speaker 1: make a run for it and they're doing it. I
- 8:02Speaker 1: mean he's on a bass Master didn't place this weekend,
- 8:04Speaker 1: but just talking to them, they were very upset with
- 8:06Speaker 1: the way that the Waddington venue was ran, from the
- 8:08Speaker 1: way the parking was ran, from the charges of this
- 8:10Speaker 1: to the bathroom scenario. I mean, I was over there
- 8:13Speaker 1: taking a leak and there was this poor guy that
- 8:14Speaker 1: had to take shit. Went to the first port of
- 8:16Speaker 1: potty nothing, second porta potty nothing, third part porta potty
- 8:21Speaker 1: which was a miracle that there was three open nothing.
- 8:23Speaker 1: The dude had to go get some napkins. I don't
- 8:25Speaker 1: even know if he picked like the nicest ones. They're
- 8:27Speaker 1: probably just th shitty brown napkins paper towel things. And
- 8:30Speaker 1: he had to do his business and do some paperwork
- 8:32Speaker 1: with that. That's a terrible thing. How can you be
- 8:35Speaker 1: a vendor, you know what I mean, running a major
- 8:37Speaker 1: event and let so many of these run out of
- 8:40Speaker 1: toilet paper. It's terrible. I wish I knew the name
- 8:42Speaker 1: of the organized a vendor of the toilets at of
- 8:44Speaker 1: bass Masters because s some bullshit, all right. The thing
- 8:47Speaker 1: and what really pissed me off, Yeah, they're sanitizer in
- 8:50Speaker 1: each porta potty, but they have a sink, a foot
- 8:52Speaker 1: pedal sink, and that was empty. They clearly weren't taking
- 8:55Speaker 1: care of their stuff. I'm sure they're busy, but there
- 8:58Speaker 1: was no other venue, there was no other event bigger
- 9:01Speaker 1: than that one. You've pissed a lot of people off,
- 9:02Speaker 1: and it's kind of calm because now you're sitting there,
- 9:04Speaker 1: probably cleaning a lot of piss and shit. So I don't,
- 9:07Speaker 1: like I said, I don't know it, but maybe something happened.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Maybe I shouldn't be pissed about it. But it's pretty
- 9:11Speaker 1: gross when you know you have to rely on sanitizer
- 9:13Speaker 1: and not be able to wash your hands because lack
- 9:16Speaker 1: of give a fuck. But back to where I was there,
- 9:17Speaker 1: I guess I tracked there. They were just very upset.
- 9:21Speaker 1: This couple. You know, they're in the Texas Events, the
- 9:23Speaker 1: Georgia Events, every event around And they said, how Waddington
- 9:27Speaker 1: the last four years has been the most amazing, one
- 9:29Speaker 1: of the most well done events from like I spoke
- 9:32Speaker 1: about earlier, the music, the vendors, the whole scene, the crowd,
- 9:37Speaker 1: the atmosphere, and they said this year was the worst,
- 9:40Speaker 1: one of the worst stops that they have ever seen,
- 9:43Speaker 1: and it's just crazy to me that it could drastically
- 9:46Speaker 1: change that bad. And I don't know if it's just
- 9:48Speaker 1: local people trying to get money hungry, or maybe some
- 9:51Speaker 1: new people took it over just didn't know what they
- 9:53Speaker 1: were doing yet. I hope that whoever did it this year,
- 9:57Speaker 1: if they plan to do it next year, maybe take
- 9:58Speaker 1: some constructive criticism, make it a great event again. I
- 10:01Speaker 1: know just about everybody did alright as far as money wise,
- 10:04Speaker 1: but you gotta think long term. You gotta, you gotta,
- 10:07Speaker 1: you gotta grow this. And it was a little unfortunate
- 10:09Speaker 1: too with the high waters and the locks and the
- 10:12Speaker 1: damn situation, but which is that's not anybody on the
- 10:15Speaker 1: event's control. But hopefully you can get back to where
- 10:18Speaker 1: it was a couple of years ago, and I'm sure
- 10:19Speaker 1: it will. They also mentioned that a lot of the
- 10:22Speaker 1: big names. One of the big names was I think
- 10:25Speaker 1: Kevin Van Dam. I believe is a guy's name, not
- 10:27Speaker 1: Jean Crawlee van Dam, but in Kevin van Dam. He
- 10:30Speaker 1: and some others left and joined the Major League Fishing League,
- 10:35Speaker 1: which is another major brand instead of the bass Masters.
- 10:39Speaker 1: And maybe that's why fishing doesn't in my opinion have
- 10:43Speaker 1: quite the popularity that you know, your nascars, your your
- 10:47Speaker 1: obviously your your MLB, NFL, NBA, all that good stuff.
- 10:51Speaker 1: But to have some you know, Hall of Fame caliber
- 10:54Speaker 1: people in the tour bail on you. That could maybe
- 10:57Speaker 1: be a reason why the event wasn't as big too.
- 11:00Speaker 1: I'm not sure. I know a lot of people in
- 11:01Speaker 1: the area just go because it's something that's cool. I mean,
- 11:04Speaker 1: something that's on ESPN. I mean just to have the
- 11:07Speaker 1: ability when they're scanning the crowd to be like, I
- 11:09Speaker 1: was there. Holy shit, that's me. Oh, I know that
- 11:12Speaker 1: person in the front row. It's just a cool thing.
- 11:14Speaker 1: You know, everybody that played a sport at one point
- 11:16Speaker 1: in your mind dreamt to be on ESPN. Maybe it
- 11:19Speaker 1: wasn't because you were there on the bass Masters, but hey,
- 11:21Speaker 1: you made it. Friday night, I was asked to run
- 11:24Speaker 1: a cornhole tournament. Enzler Falls has a Fall festival that's
- 11:28Speaker 1: held on the weekend of the sixth and the seventh
- 11:31Speaker 1: of September this year. It's a nice little event. It's
- 11:34Speaker 1: a nice little town. I mean, they do fireworks, they
- 11:37Speaker 1: I think they do parades. They're going to do another
- 11:40Speaker 1: cornhole event. Vendors, food, the whole nine yards. It's just
- 11:43Speaker 1: a great community event and for a small town community place,
- 11:47Speaker 1: it's a good thing to you know, get all the
- 11:49Speaker 1: people that don't get a chance. I guess maybe to
- 11:53Speaker 1: make it to you know, some of the state fairs,
- 11:55Speaker 1: the county fair, stuff like that, to have a little
- 11:57Speaker 1: piece of some kind of festival in their hometown. Mike
- 12:00Speaker 1: Hammon does a great job. So he reached out to
- 12:03Speaker 1: me a couple of days before the event and said, Hey,
- 12:06Speaker 1: you know, we have a cornhole tournament coming up. I
- 12:09Speaker 1: know you're in a corn hoole. Can you help run it.
- 12:11Speaker 1: The gentleman that usually runs the tournament runs the bracket
- 12:15Speaker 1: isn't available this year. Can you do it? Fuck? Yeah,
- 12:17Speaker 1: you know I can do it on the man for
- 12:18Speaker 1: the job, he said, you know, so it kind of
- 12:21Speaker 1: in return of doing it, he was able to let
- 12:24Speaker 1: me plug in some beard laws kind of sponsorship advertisement
- 12:27Speaker 1: type stuff. So I was able to them see the event,
- 12:29Speaker 1: kind of go over the rules everything, how it was
- 12:31Speaker 1: set everything up. There was twenty two teams. The tournament
- 12:35Speaker 1: ran flawlessly, not because of me, well a little bit,
- 12:38Speaker 1: but I have to give big props to the app
- 12:40Speaker 1: Score Holyo. It's not a joke. Score Holyo. It's an
- 12:43Speaker 1: amazing app. Absolutely amazing this app. I tested it, you know,
- 12:46Speaker 1: a couple of days before the tournament, just to get
- 12:48Speaker 1: a feel for it, see what was going on. Things amazing.
- 12:50Speaker 1: So to their creators of score Hoolio, I couldn't praise
- 12:54Speaker 1: you enough. Had a couple of questions about, you know,
- 12:57Speaker 1: the admin accounts this and that sent the chat. You know,
- 12:59Speaker 1: there's just a you know, live chat thing, and I'm thinking,
- 13:02Speaker 1: oh yeah, because Scorejolio his live chat, they have live chat.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Turns out, I asked a question within what felt like
- 13:07Speaker 1: a minute or two, had an answer, had a response,
- 13:10Speaker 1: had a good conversation with the guy actually in their
- 13:14Speaker 1: private Facebook group because I had a couple of suggestions
- 13:17Speaker 1: and some stuff that I thought would work, so they
- 13:18Speaker 1: were open to hear. It. Just a great app. You
- 13:21Speaker 1: could plug in any amount of team tournament. What it
- 13:24Speaker 1: does is it fills the bracket. You can do round
- 13:27Speaker 1: robin play, you can have you know, group play that
- 13:29Speaker 1: goes into a tournament. You can just do a single
- 13:32Speaker 1: or a double elimination tournament. I mean, the sky's the
- 13:34Speaker 1: limit with this app. Like I mentioned, we ran a
- 13:36Speaker 1: twenty two team double elimination tournament. Twenty two teams in
- 13:40Speaker 1: itself is a nightmare to draw out a bracket. This
- 13:42Speaker 1: thing automatically randomize the teams. All I had to do
- 13:45Speaker 1: is just go through. You can add players. You can
- 13:47Speaker 1: add teams if if you actually attached the player profile
- 13:51Speaker 1: of people that create it. So say, for instance, you John,
- 13:54Speaker 1: do you create your player profile, you come to the tournament,
- 13:57Speaker 1: you want to check in, I can scan your QR
- 13:59Speaker 1: code and impressive, right, But not only that, every game
- 14:01Speaker 1: that I associate that player profile with their team, as
- 14:04Speaker 1: the stats get entered, their stats get entered. It's it's
- 14:08Speaker 1: very impressive. But how it's made to run from the
- 14:11Speaker 1: suggestion of score hoolio is a tablet or some kind
- 14:14Speaker 1: of device electronic device at each court. So we had
- 14:17Speaker 1: four courts. Couldn't get enough tablets to make this work.
- 14:20Speaker 1: But what we're going to do for the Falls Festival,
- 14:21Speaker 1: so anybody there, make sure you download the app score hoolio,
- 14:24Speaker 1: and in what you do is have the tablets at
- 14:28Speaker 1: each of the courts and as you're playing, you actually
- 14:30Speaker 1: keep score. When the game is over, you press them
- 14:32Speaker 1: its score. It enters the score into the tournament, auto updates,
- 14:37Speaker 1: the bracket instantly tells you what team is up next,
- 14:39Speaker 1: and the tournament just runs itself. Each court is laid out,
- 14:43Speaker 1: and even as we got later into the matches, it
- 14:46Speaker 1: seemed like it stalled out, but they're just were you
- 14:49Speaker 1: know what I mean. There just wasn't enough teams to
- 14:52Speaker 1: be able to play into all four of the courts,
- 14:55Speaker 1: so it started filling in. Then you get some other people,
- 14:57Speaker 1: how you done with these? We want to do some
- 14:58Speaker 1: side games and professional corn hole bags. And what a
- 15:03Speaker 1: difference I make. They got the slick side, they got
- 15:06Speaker 1: the sticky side. I am now a proud owner of
- 15:09Speaker 1: very similar ACL approved bags, and I am an ACL
- 15:13Speaker 1: member of American corn League. So when I roll into events,
- 15:16Speaker 1: there's gonna be an actual sponsored player there. I don't
- 15:19Speaker 1: know if that's legal or illegal, but yeah, didn't make
- 15:21Speaker 1: a custom set of beard Lost corn hole boards. They're amazing.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Check them out on Instagram. You can check them out
- 15:29Speaker 1: on Twitter and potentially Facebook. Not really sure, I can't remember.
- 15:33Speaker 1: I think it's on all of them, but yeah, so
- 15:34Speaker 1: I had black and white bags, just your your standard
- 15:37Speaker 1: twenty thirty dollars bags went out and found these the
- 15:39Speaker 1: bags I wanted. I searched several several sites, I got them,
- 15:43Speaker 1: got them online. I think there were about sixty sixty
- 15:46Speaker 1: five bucks. So I look forward to playing them. It
- 15:48Speaker 1: falls fast coming up. Like I said, the sixth and
- 15:50Speaker 1: the seventh. Potentially going to run that as well, depending
- 15:54Speaker 1: on my schedule, but it'd be a good time. And
- 15:56Speaker 1: I'd like to give a big shout out to my brother.
- 15:58Speaker 1: He was the other admin in the event, both rocking
- 16:01Speaker 1: our beard lost shirts. He did pretty much all of
- 16:04Speaker 1: the scoring. A lot of people came in found him
- 16:07Speaker 1: because we didn't have the tablets, found him. He in
- 16:09Speaker 1: put the scores, and then we just kind of both
- 16:12Speaker 1: looked to see who was up on what court, and
- 16:14Speaker 1: then we either not announced it on the micro we
- 16:16Speaker 1: just started kind of running around as we got a
- 16:19Speaker 1: feel of who was which team got him on the boards.
- 16:21Speaker 1: We did sixty two games in under four hours. It
- 16:26Speaker 1: was like three hours and fifty three minutes or something
- 16:28Speaker 1: like that. Sixty two games. That's an impressive Again, can't
- 16:34Speaker 1: give a big enough shout out to score, holyo. If
- 16:36Speaker 1: you're looking to run an event, you're looking to even
- 16:40Speaker 1: just keep score on an app score Holyo. As you covered,
- 16:43Speaker 1: it is the best in my opinion corn hoole scoring
- 16:47Speaker 1: app in the game and for the tournaments. I feel
- 16:50Speaker 1: like I'm giving them sponsors. I'm giving you a free
- 16:52Speaker 1: sponsor Scoreholio. So why don't you give me some like
- 16:55Speaker 1: privileged functionality in your app? You know, instead of being
- 16:59Speaker 1: a free loader, give me like a free membership of
- 17:01Speaker 1: free vip something. Give me some extra rights score Holo.
- 17:05Speaker 1: Check it out. It's on iOS as well as Google Play.
- 17:08Speaker 1: If you're too hot, you're too cold. There's only two
- 17:10Speaker 1: numbers you need to know. The Merkley brothers, Adam and
- 17:12Speaker 1: Ben have been supporting the North Country since twenty fifteen.
- 17:16Speaker 1: They're all you're gonna need for residential and commercial needs.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Call Adam at three one five six hundred twelve forty
- 17:21Speaker 1: eight or Ben at three one five six hundred twelve
- 17:24Speaker 1: forty four. So, as many of you know, Beard Laws
- 17:27Speaker 1: was created to raise money for the Richard Ey Winter
- 17:31Speaker 1: Cancer Center located in Augsburg, New York, to raise enough
- 17:34Speaker 1: money to take thirteen inch crttvs, which are the old
- 17:38Speaker 1: ass tube TVs that are just in rough shape. They
- 17:41Speaker 1: were dated. They were putting there originally when the cancer
- 17:43Speaker 1: center was put in just didn't get a lot of love.
- 17:46Speaker 1: So my mission obviously is to get them replaced. Just
- 17:49Speaker 1: want to give a donation update. I recently dropped off
- 17:53Speaker 1: just under four thousand dollars on top of the twenty
- 17:55Speaker 1: seven hundred dollars that was already in there, putting the
- 17:58Speaker 1: total to around sixty seven one hundred dollars. The goal
- 18:01Speaker 1: that I had was eight thousand, and that would include
- 18:04Speaker 1: Pride professional services to put in because I'm just not
- 18:07Speaker 1: sure about the timing with a lot of stuff, then
- 18:10Speaker 1: projects that our maintenance department has put in, but the
- 18:12Speaker 1: actual hardware quote was about seventy five hundred, so we're
- 18:15Speaker 1: very close. I have two organizations that are making sizeable
- 18:19Speaker 1: donations that should hopefully get us pretty close, if not over,
- 18:22Speaker 1: so it's not too late. If anybody wants to help
- 18:24Speaker 1: in to the cause, you can go to beard Laws
- 18:26Speaker 1: dot com. Any merchandise that is sold on the website,
- 18:30Speaker 1: all proceeds are going to the cause. If anybody wants
- 18:34Speaker 1: to PayPal or anything else, please let me know. You
- 18:37Speaker 1: can hit me up at mattatpeard Laws dot com. You
- 18:39Speaker 1: can hit us up on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, all that
- 18:43Speaker 1: good stuff. But yeah, so we are very close to
- 18:45Speaker 1: the goal. I cannot wait to get the money, get
- 18:48Speaker 1: the final piece over to them, get the quote over
- 18:51Speaker 1: to them, let them order them start getting those installed.
- 18:54Speaker 1: I'll be taking lots of pictures, lots of videos, so
- 18:57Speaker 1: check all the social media for that. And I believe
- 19:01Speaker 1: the hospital is going to do a little piece maybe
- 19:04Speaker 1: with a picture. Hopefully it's just the beard. They don't
- 19:07Speaker 1: need the rest of me in there, so stay tuned
- 19:09Speaker 1: for that. And anybody that has already donated, thank you
- 19:11Speaker 1: very much. Anybody that plans to, thank you very much.
- 19:15Speaker 1: I couldn't have done without couldn't have done this without
- 19:17Speaker 1: you guys, So thank you guys all very much. Not
- 19:20Speaker 1: only do I thank you, but all of the people
- 19:22Speaker 1: that have to sit through that shitty disease getting their
- 19:26Speaker 1: treatments are going to thank you as well, because they're
- 19:28Speaker 1: going to go from thirteen inch rttbs to forty three
- 19:32Speaker 1: inch flat screens. It's going to be amazing. I can't
- 19:34Speaker 1: wait to share it with all of you. So again,
- 19:37Speaker 1: thank you guys all very much. Just wanted to do
- 19:39Speaker 1: a quick update more news on beard laws recently starting
- 19:43Speaker 1: to introduce a kind of new line of shirts, going
- 19:48Speaker 1: to start with some comedy shirts, some shirts that are funny.
- 19:53Speaker 1: The first one that I released was something that I've
- 19:55Speaker 1: been saying for a long time, just one of my
- 19:56Speaker 1: favorite one liners. It's I don't pull out, but my
- 20:00Speaker 1: couch does. So I got that on a T shirt
- 20:02Speaker 1: with a couch and the beard Law's logo hidden in
- 20:05Speaker 1: there somewhere. Go ahead, check it out on beard laws
- 20:07Speaker 1: dot com. Yeah, I'm gonna start trying to do a
- 20:09Speaker 1: couple of different things. Also released a beard Law shirt
- 20:12Speaker 1: that has the beard Law on the front and has
- 20:15Speaker 1: a beard Law on the back. Currently went with beard
- 20:18Speaker 1: Law fourteen. If you touch my beard without asking, I'll
- 20:20Speaker 1: touch your butt without asking. But I can customize them
- 20:23Speaker 1: to any beard Law if there's one that you like better,
- 20:25Speaker 1: or there's one that you were even named after. If
- 20:29Speaker 1: you want to be a beard Law, if you want
- 20:31Speaker 1: to submit a beard Law, just come up with it,
- 20:35Speaker 1: send it to me at Matt atbeard laws dot com.
- 20:37Speaker 1: I'll name it after you. I'll name it whatever you want.
- 20:39Speaker 1: I'll get it on the website, I'll get it on
- 20:41Speaker 1: the official list, and eventually, hopefully the book that I'm
- 20:45Speaker 1: still slowly working on but yeah, any law you want,
- 20:49Speaker 1: any color shirt you want, I'll make it happen. So
- 20:53Speaker 1: just a couple of things. Also, I'm thinking about if
- 20:56Speaker 1: I can get some get some local art to local
- 21:00Speaker 1: artists that want to submit some cool designs and stuff
- 21:03Speaker 1: like that have their own little brand off of beard Laws.
- 21:07Speaker 1: I'm potentially looking to do that. So stick around, stay tuned.
- 21:12Speaker 1: There's going to be a lot of cool things hopefully
- 21:14Speaker 1: coming from that. Again, you can check it all out
- 21:17Speaker 1: at beard laws dot com and as things come out
- 21:19Speaker 1: to post on social media Twitter, Instagram, all that good stuff.
- 21:24Speaker 1: And if you have designed, you have an idea, you
- 21:26Speaker 1: have something that you'd always wanted on a T shirt,
- 21:29Speaker 1: hit me up you know how to get old of me. Recently,
- 21:31Speaker 1: beard Laws has also started to dabble in the world
- 21:34Speaker 1: of gaming. There's a website Twitch dot tv, which I'm
- 21:37Speaker 1: sure many of you have heard of. If your parents
- 21:39Speaker 1: and you've never heard of it, I guarantee your kids
- 21:41Speaker 1: have heard of it. It's a gaming streaming website where
- 21:46Speaker 1: many people play many different games depending what they're into,
- 21:49Speaker 1: what they like. You know, one of the biggest games
- 21:51Speaker 1: obviously right now is Fortnite. Apex is another big game
- 21:56Speaker 1: I Play. I started playing an app game Brawl Stars
- 22:01Speaker 1: that I've been streaming, as well as Clash Royal, a
- 22:04Speaker 1: couple of games that I've played forever. They're you know,
- 22:07Speaker 1: They're not overly and intense. They're just a couple of
- 22:10Speaker 1: games that you can play for a while, put down
- 22:12Speaker 1: as you like. I'm having a great time playing them.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Myself and fellow two Bears one Record guy Greg, We've
- 22:18Speaker 1: jammed it a lot. I've also met some pretty cool people,
- 22:22Speaker 1: some very good contacts, some very good friends on the
- 22:25Speaker 1: app already, and I'm hoping to start with a couple
- 22:29Speaker 1: of interviews I've taught. I've spoke with a couple of
- 22:31Speaker 1: them and they're interested. So hopefully in the next couple
- 22:34Speaker 1: of episodes, I'm going to do a whole episode, you know,
- 22:38Speaker 1: with what is Twitch? What is What do I like?
- 22:43Speaker 1: What do I think? What's going on in the news
- 22:46Speaker 1: with Twitch? There's a little bit of drama right now
- 22:48Speaker 1: with some big names switching and leaving from Twitch. My
- 22:52Speaker 1: thoughts on that, as well as some interviews with some
- 22:55Speaker 1: great gamers, some gamers that are in clubs, maybe some
- 22:59Speaker 1: people that run the clubs. Like I said, I have
- 23:02Speaker 1: a couple of connections already that I'm going to start
- 23:05Speaker 1: with interviews. I'm looking forward to it, that they're looking
- 23:07Speaker 1: forward to it. It's going to be exciting. It's going
- 23:10Speaker 1: to be something else that we can talk about and
- 23:13Speaker 1: our podcast, some new connections, some new friends, and a
- 23:16Speaker 1: new platform. So if you guys are on Twitch, go
- 23:18Speaker 1: to twitch dot tv slash Official beard Laws. No spaces,
- 23:22Speaker 1: no dashes, nothing fancy, just official Beard Laws on Twitch.
- 23:26Speaker 1: You can see some past streams, some highlights, some videos,
- 23:30Speaker 1: and you can catch me streaming usually nine to thirty
- 23:33Speaker 1: pm Eastern Standard time and occasionally just some random times
- 23:37Speaker 1: on the weekends. It's a lot of fun, you know.
- 23:41Speaker 1: And it's just another avenue, another way to make some connections,
- 23:45Speaker 1: get some people interviewed on the podcast, and just another
- 23:50Speaker 1: way to let everybody know what beard Laws is about. Yeah,
- 23:54Speaker 1: just something that I wanted to mention that's going on
- 23:57Speaker 1: as well. So check it out, give me a follow,
- 23:59Speaker 1: check out some time, let me know what you're thinking,
- 24:01Speaker 1: me some feedback, and stay tuned for some interviews. These
- 24:04Speaker 1: guys are funny, they're content creators, very intelligent, very creative people,
- 24:10Speaker 1: creative minds, and I'm looking very looking forward to being
- 24:14Speaker 1: able to get them on the show, get talking to
- 24:17Speaker 1: them and just give you guys a great episode. So
- 24:20Speaker 1: stay tuned. Just something I wanted to mention, all right,
- 24:22Speaker 1: So this is gonna be the new segment that I've
- 24:24Speaker 1: been excited about that I'm still excited about, and it's
- 24:27Speaker 1: finally happening, the Two Beards One Record segment with Greg.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Greg's in the house live and we're gonna talk about
- 24:34Speaker 1: what two Beards One Record is, maybe what's going to
- 24:38Speaker 1: happen in the future in our featured album of the
- 24:41Speaker 1: day with no further ado. This is Greg, Greg.
- 24:44Speaker 4: How you doing. How's it going?
- 24:46Speaker 1: So we started Two Bears One Record eighteen.
- 24:50Speaker 4: Yeah, I think that's maybe twenty seven. I'm not sure.
- 24:53Speaker 1: We're gonna say twenty seventeen ish, maybe twenty eighteen. And
- 24:57Speaker 1: it was just something that we were sitting around one
- 24:59Speaker 1: day at where and we were like, wouldn't it be
- 25:01Speaker 1: cool if we just started sharing our vinyl records online somewhere?
- 25:05Speaker 1: Like we're both Instagram heads. We love Instagram. We're always
- 25:08Speaker 1: on it. Whether it's our favorite band, whether it's our
- 25:10Speaker 1: favorite sports team, whether it's the Chive, it doesn't matter
- 25:13Speaker 1: what it is we're on it, and we decided, hey,
- 25:16Speaker 1: let's give it a shot. Let's start uploading our collection
- 25:19Speaker 1: because we both started getting a little addicted. And I
- 25:22Speaker 1: know you, Greg has one of the most intense, most
- 25:25Speaker 1: elaborate soundtrack horror movie collections that I've seen. Yeah, so
- 25:29Speaker 1: we started with Instagram and I don't know, we got
- 25:32Speaker 1: up to probably what five thousand fans or something cool.
- 25:35Speaker 4: I think we were around four.
- 25:37Speaker 1: I must have round it up way up, but yeah,
- 25:40Speaker 1: have about four thousand fans if you want to elaborate, Greg,
- 25:45Speaker 1: and just kind of tell us, first of all, what
- 25:47Speaker 1: is two Beards? Like? What do we do? What were
- 25:49Speaker 1: we doing? What are we gonna do?
- 25:51Speaker 5: I think we're just basically a couple of dorks really,
- 25:54Speaker 5: but yeah, I mean we started doing it just for fun,
- 25:57Speaker 5: just and I guess still really it's still just something
- 26:00Speaker 5: we do for fun and at the moment, but I've
- 26:03Speaker 5: been trying to get it back going since you've been
- 26:06Speaker 5: doing the beard lass stuff, trying to ignite that flame
- 26:09Speaker 5: under the two Beards one record.
- 26:11Speaker 1: Yeah, and to take it back a little while it
- 26:13Speaker 1: kind of fell off the track is obviously I started
- 26:16Speaker 1: Beard loss. What you guys know about that from other
- 26:18Speaker 1: episodes and social media and stuff. And Greg just keeps
- 26:21Speaker 1: having kids. He's got three beautiful, healthy kids and a
- 26:23Speaker 1: beautiful wife. And yeah, so while we were doing this,
- 26:27Speaker 1: one thing we were also doing was we were doing
- 26:29Speaker 1: product reviews. We had an interview that we've been saving
- 26:32Speaker 1: until we kind of got some momentum again from Greg
- 26:35Speaker 1: and artists that takes broken records and makes beautiful artwork.
- 26:38Speaker 1: So we're going to release that interview and I'm hopefully
- 26:41Speaker 1: we might be able to reach back out to him
- 26:42Speaker 1: now that we have some podcast momentum going and see
- 26:44Speaker 1: if maybe he'd, you know, take five ten minutes with us.
- 26:48Speaker 1: But we're fortunate enough to have a wax Rex review,
- 26:51Speaker 1: a Vinyl Vack, spin Mount, Lucky Diamond, Trash Panda Records,
- 26:56Speaker 1: and pray they're made. They all send us products. All
- 26:58Speaker 1: the reviews are on the website Two Beards One Record,
- 27:01Speaker 1: as well as all our latest Instagram news and posts.
- 27:06Speaker 1: Like I said, Greg's kind of resurrecting posting, you know
- 27:09Speaker 1: a couple of times a week. We were posting, you know,
- 27:12Speaker 1: every day, but we tried, We've always tried to post
- 27:16Speaker 1: what's relevant, you know, and obviously our featured album of
- 27:19Speaker 1: the day. If you want to get into it is
- 27:21Speaker 1: Tool and Tools got some big news coming up. They
- 27:24Speaker 1: got an album. Greg is a huge Tool fan, not
- 27:28Speaker 1: a Tool, but a huge Tool fan. And yeah, so
- 27:31Speaker 1: I mean, if you just want to tell us you
- 27:32Speaker 1: know why you're excited, what's going on? Just just filling
- 27:35Speaker 1: I mean some people must know filling the beard.
- 27:38Speaker 5: Yeah, So anyone who gives a shit, I mean it
- 27:41Speaker 5: already knows that the new album comes out tomorrow. It's
- 27:43Speaker 5: tools first album in thirteen years, I believe, follow up
- 27:47Speaker 5: to their ten thousand Days album, which was awesome.
- 27:51Speaker 4: And I'm not one of.
- 27:51Speaker 5: These crazy Tool people that just Tool is gonna save
- 27:56Speaker 5: the world or whatever. I remember the first time I
- 27:59Speaker 5: heard Enema, I was in my buddy's car in high school.
- 28:02Speaker 4: Blew my mind.
- 28:03Speaker 5: So I'm really excited to get up tomorrow throwing my headphones.
- 28:08Speaker 1: And so not only that, speaking of headphones and back
- 28:11Speaker 1: in the day, the first time you heard it? You
- 28:13Speaker 1: recently even made a purchase of a Tool album? What
- 28:16Speaker 1: you went with the CD?
- 28:17Speaker 5: The new album is, Yeah, it's only been released on CD,
- 28:20Speaker 5: so I did snag a.
- 28:22Speaker 4: Copy and it is being delivered tomorrow. So that's pretty cool.
- 28:25Speaker 5: I don't know what I'm gonna listen to it on
- 28:28Speaker 5: because I don't know if I have a working CD player.
- 28:32Speaker 5: I think somewhere in my basement there might be like
- 28:34Speaker 5: a five disc changer.
- 28:36Speaker 1: So tomorrow what's going to happen is Greg is going
- 28:39Speaker 1: to get the family to sleep, and you're gonna see
- 28:41Speaker 1: him outside in his vehicle listening to the new Tool album,
- 28:44Speaker 1: rocking out, probably having a beer, and tell them about
- 28:47Speaker 1: the case. I mean, I feel like that's what really
- 28:49Speaker 1: sold you. They've always had for any Tool fan obviously
- 28:52Speaker 1: knows that, but a lot I feel like a lot
- 28:53Speaker 1: of people they haven't been around in thirteen years, So
- 28:56Speaker 1: that's thirteen years of listeners and viewers and stuff. I
- 28:59Speaker 1: don't even know what Tool is or might not even
- 29:01Speaker 1: know them. Hurt them, but their case.
- 29:03Speaker 4: Their cases are They've always been awesome. They had the.
- 29:06Speaker 5: Lenticular case with enema makes it look like it's moving.
- 29:10Speaker 5: It's like the old thick baseball cards, you know that
- 29:14Speaker 5: looked like the guy was swinging the bat or whatever.
- 29:16Speaker 4: And yeah, all all of their their releases have been crazy.
- 29:20Speaker 4: The artwork is awesome, and this new one is no different.
- 29:24Speaker 4: It is has a four inch high def screen in it.
- 29:30Speaker 5: Somebody leaked it some somebody probably worked at a record
- 29:34Speaker 5: shop and got it in and leaked it on read
- 29:37Speaker 5: it or Twitter or something. And I looked at all
- 29:41Speaker 5: the pictures. It's crazy looking. It has has the four
- 29:44Speaker 5: inch high def screen. Like I said, it's got speakers
- 29:47Speaker 5: built into it. It's got unique video footage. I don't
- 29:52Speaker 5: know if it like plays the whole album. I have
- 29:54Speaker 5: no idea what it does, but it looks pretty crazy and.
- 29:58Speaker 1: It's going to be pretty awesome. And one of one
- 30:00Speaker 1: of our Instagram followers commented King Slayer seventy nine was
- 30:03Speaker 1: the guy's name. His Australian friend has heard is of
- 30:06Speaker 1: early this afternoon due to time zones. He said, it's
- 30:09Speaker 1: incredible and easily holds up to the heavy expectations. So,
- 30:13Speaker 1: I mean, I.
- 30:14Speaker 4: Saw that and that's a bold I mean, that's a
- 30:16Speaker 4: big statement.
- 30:16Speaker 1: And that's just obviously the one thing that we saw
- 30:18Speaker 1: on Instagram. So if you want to see the featured
- 30:21Speaker 1: album of the day or anything that we've done reviews,
- 30:24Speaker 1: anything like that, head out to Instagram.
- 30:26Speaker 5: The album is actually Lateralis by Tool that's posted today.
- 30:31Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that's our future album. And it's interesting because
- 30:34Speaker 1: you know, obviously they released this on vinyl their tool.
- 30:37Speaker 1: It's not like they're hurting for money. I wouldn't think,
- 30:39Speaker 1: but not to have the vinyl release to it. And
- 30:42Speaker 1: I don't know if you've heard anything or read anything
- 30:45Speaker 1: why they didn't go with the vinyl release.
- 30:47Speaker 5: Yeah, I've been reading that maybe this fall. I've read
- 30:49Speaker 5: a whole bunch of different things. People saying that there
- 30:53Speaker 5: is not going to be one, people saying they're definitely
- 30:55Speaker 5: is going to be a vinyl release. It's not going
- 30:58Speaker 5: to happen till the fall. I personally just am believing
- 31:02Speaker 5: that because that's what I want to believe.
- 31:04Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, I believe it when I see it.
- 31:06Speaker 5: But I also did hear One interesting thing I heard
- 31:10Speaker 5: was that Danny Carey, the drummer, was quoted stating that
- 31:15Speaker 5: they were currently remastering all of their albums for vinyl,
- 31:20Speaker 5: So they may be all all the albums maybe getting
- 31:23Speaker 5: a release which would be really awesome, like.
- 31:26Speaker 1: A box set or that would be great.
- 31:28Speaker 4: And my wallet hopes not.
- 31:30Speaker 1: But while that hope's not. But the inner dork and
- 31:32Speaker 1: geek and a fan of you hope, So smart.
- 31:35Speaker 4: Move the Anama on vinyl.
- 31:37Speaker 5: So bad it's that one is actually there's an official
- 31:40Speaker 5: release of that, but it's so expensive because there wasn't
- 31:43Speaker 5: very many of them, and.
- 31:45Speaker 1: Even if they did a box set, even if they
- 31:47Speaker 1: did five hundred, they'd all be gone and they could
- 31:50Speaker 1: set the price to almost whatever they wanted.
- 31:52Speaker 4: There's no way they could get away with doing just five.
- 31:54Speaker 1: Hundred, No, but they could. And then then what's gonna
- 31:57Speaker 1: happen If you're gonna get those guys that go out
- 31:58Speaker 1: there and buy four copies of them and then next thing,
- 32:01Speaker 1: you know, they sell them. You know, say it comes
- 32:03Speaker 1: out at two fifty, they sell them for one thousand
- 32:04Speaker 1: dollars on discogs and eBay's gonna be released on September sixth.
- 32:08Speaker 1: Is the new Teenage Bottle Rocket. It's a seven inch
- 32:11Speaker 1: and Fat Tour twenty nineteen they released as well, So
- 32:14Speaker 1: they're gonna be on the Fat Tour twenty nineteen. They're
- 32:17Speaker 1: gonna have Teenage Bottle rackets, Mean Jeans, Clowns, and gen
- 32:20Speaker 1: pop from the Bomb Pops. I don't know exactly what
- 32:22Speaker 1: the tour dates are where they're going, but it's something
- 32:26Speaker 1: that was released around the same time as a seven
- 32:28Speaker 1: inch and it's pretty cool.
- 32:31Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a split with Human Robots, which is Ray
- 32:36Speaker 4: Carlisle's sun. Milo's ben.
- 32:38Speaker 5: I don't know how old he is, but he's like
- 32:40Speaker 5: twelve maybe that's gotta be.
- 32:42Speaker 1: And it's just great and he brings them along. I mean,
- 32:44Speaker 1: he's just out served. I forget what show was. Was
- 32:47Speaker 1: one out in Wyoming?
- 32:49Speaker 5: Yeah, Fort Collins maybe, but.
- 32:53Speaker 1: Yeah, So looking at the Fat rec site, it was
- 32:56Speaker 1: just obviously Greg just said, you know, it's it's him
- 32:59Speaker 1: and his son. And this was a statement from Ray
- 33:02Speaker 1: Bottle Rocket himself. Ray Carlisle said, hello, loll When Teenage
- 33:05Speaker 1: Bottle Rocket was at the blasting room working on Stay Red,
- 33:08Speaker 1: my son Milo came to the studio and recorded two
- 33:10Speaker 1: songs with his band, Human Robots. It wasn't hard getting
- 33:12Speaker 1: his band together because Milo plays all the instruments and
- 33:15Speaker 1: sings on tooth songs that he wrote. I guess it's
- 33:17Speaker 1: a one man band. Yeah, he has no friends. His
- 33:20Speaker 1: songs turned out great and we sung out convinced Fatt
- 33:22Speaker 1: Records to release a split seven its featuring Teenage Bottle
- 33:25Speaker 1: Rocket songs. Olivia Goes to Bolivia and Everything to Me
- 33:29Speaker 1: as well as Human Robot songs, step on them all
- 33:32Speaker 1: and I want to hang out with you. Chris Sherry
- 33:34Speaker 1: did the artwork and it turned out great. Ken confirm
- 33:36Speaker 1: it's pretty awesome. It is and this is the best
- 33:40Speaker 1: split since Taco Bell teamed up with KFC. I love
- 33:43Speaker 1: sharing this rock and roll life with my son Milo.
- 33:45Speaker 1: Lookout world, Human Robots are stoked to shred and ready
- 33:48Speaker 1: to party. And if you follow Chris Sherry on Instagram
- 33:52Speaker 1: as well, you can see some of the artwork kind
- 33:54Speaker 1: of before it comes out, some of the stuff that
- 33:56Speaker 1: he does and he just does crazy work. But yeah,
- 33:58Speaker 1: that's another that's another cooling that wreck. If you're listening,
- 34:02Speaker 1: we want Live and a Dive. Teenage Bottle Rocket. We
- 34:05Speaker 1: know they play at dives. We want Live and the dives.
- 34:09Speaker 4: Dives.
- 34:09Speaker 1: We bend to the dives. Whether it was seeing Teenage
- 34:11Speaker 1: Bottle Rocket, whether it was seeing Mass Intruders.
- 34:13Speaker 4: Going to a dive to see Strong Out pretty.
- 34:16Speaker 1: Quick, Strong Out's coming up, which I still gotta get
- 34:18Speaker 1: my tickets. I forgot about Mass Intruders in Direct hit
- 34:20Speaker 1: or in Toronto on a Monday. We're not gonna be
- 34:23Speaker 1: able to make it, but we're missing out and we're
- 34:26Speaker 1: as much as we're from a rural area, small town area.
- 34:29Speaker 1: We have Canada at our fingertips to get some of
- 34:32Speaker 1: these bands, especially punk rock bands, not only to come
- 34:36Speaker 1: East coast, but to get into Canada, because I'm sure
- 34:38Speaker 1: half those guys can't go to Canada.
- 34:42Speaker 5: A lot of punk bands are playing Canada though they
- 34:44Speaker 5: love Montreal. They have that punk Fest festival every year, don't.
- 34:50Speaker 1: But it makes you wonder how many are limited because
- 34:52Speaker 1: I'm not just saying because it's punk rock and crime
- 34:55Speaker 1: and this and that, but it's these guys going through
- 34:59Speaker 1: their youth stages, which we all have been through, got
- 35:01Speaker 1: into some stupid situations, got in trouble, you get a
- 35:04Speaker 1: misdemeanor of a felony. You just can't go to Canada.
- 35:06Speaker 1: I canna. I can't imagine if you're a band, they
- 35:08Speaker 1: can pull some strings to let you across, or maybe
- 35:10Speaker 1: they can, I don't know.
- 35:12Speaker 5: You know, it's kind of funny about what you just said,
- 35:15Speaker 5: is that a lot of those.
- 35:17Speaker 4: Bands aren't that young.
- 35:20Speaker 1: They're like our age, you know, even teenage Bottle Rocket.
- 35:24Speaker 1: I mean there they talk about.
- 35:25Speaker 4: You know, songs like Ray is older than we are, Yeah,
- 35:28Speaker 4: older than me.
- 35:29Speaker 1: Yeah. And in the show we went to when they
- 35:31Speaker 1: played with the Descendants and Woosta, they he talked about
- 35:36Speaker 1: how you know, he goes to shows and half the
- 35:38Speaker 1: time he's paying and he's trying to get the seats
- 35:42Speaker 1: up in the higher section instead of standing around the
- 35:45Speaker 1: whole show and and getting into the mosh pits and stuff,
- 35:47Speaker 1: because he's just he's just getting older and that's how
- 35:49Speaker 1: he enjoys him.
- 35:50Speaker 5: I don't care much about that anymore. I'd like I'd
- 35:54Speaker 5: like to watch it. I like to have a view
- 35:56Speaker 5: and like see the show.
- 35:59Speaker 1: And this is coming from the guy that heard blitz
- 36:01Speaker 1: the first note of Blitzkrieg pop at the show, handed
- 36:05Speaker 1: me his glasses that hold these and moved like a
- 36:08Speaker 1: linebacker with an open pocket going in for a sack
- 36:11Speaker 1: to get in the mosh pet But generally, I guess
- 36:16Speaker 1: he'd rather he'd rather be in the depends on the show.
- 36:20Speaker 1: I guess. It was New Year's Eve, so there we were.
- 36:23Speaker 1: It was New Year's Eve night that turned into New
- 36:25Speaker 1: Year's We got drunk, real drunk, walked back to his house,
- 36:30Speaker 1: actually walked to my truck, which was farther of a
- 36:33Speaker 1: walk than walking to his house. I believe to drive
- 36:35Speaker 1: the truck home, and we started watching videos, just music
- 36:40Speaker 1: videos and stuff, and he goes, hey, check out this band.
- 36:42Speaker 1: This was years ago. Check out this band, Teenage Bottle Rocket.
- 36:45Speaker 1: I'm really into him. So we started listening to it,
- 36:47Speaker 1: and then I couldn't stop listening. He couldn't stop listening.
- 36:50Speaker 1: Now I have every single album that Teenage Bottle Rocket
- 36:52Speaker 1: has ever done, and.
- 36:54Speaker 4: I definitely created a monster that night.
- 36:56Speaker 1: Yeah I didn't.
- 36:57Speaker 4: I didn't. I didn't know this. I was not aware
- 36:59Speaker 4: of this story. I didn't know that was your inception
- 37:02Speaker 4: of Teenage Bottle Like.
- 37:04Speaker 1: When you that's when I fell in love with New
- 37:07Speaker 1: Year's New Year's Day, at like probably three in the morning.
- 37:10Speaker 1: That's good to know on your couch that I slept.
- 37:13Speaker 4: On, and now you literally have everything.
- 37:15Speaker 1: They have on vinyl, Yeah, and their magazine.
- 37:17Speaker 4: Hundreds of dollars later.
- 37:19Speaker 1: Oh yeah, we could probably almost thousands. I don't really
- 37:22Speaker 1: know the numbers. Don't want to think about the numbers,
- 37:24Speaker 1: but I know a couple of them haven't been released
- 37:26Speaker 1: or re released.
- 37:27Speaker 5: Just so, yeah, just so anybody listening now is if
- 37:31Speaker 5: it's out there and he doesn't have it, and it's
- 37:33Speaker 5: teenage Bottle Rocket.
- 37:35Speaker 4: It's not very hard to get him to pick it up.
- 37:38Speaker 1: Yeah, I would buy it, all right. So we're gonna
- 37:39Speaker 1: transition to our last segment. We're gonna do the last
- 37:43Speaker 1: album you got in the mail delivered to you? Rip
- 37:47Speaker 1: that cardboard off? What's the last one that came through
- 37:50Speaker 1: your door? If you got to think about it? Mine
- 37:52Speaker 1: was a two lag wagons I got Live in a
- 37:54Speaker 1: Dive and Trash were my last two, and I got
- 38:00Speaker 1: them from I can't remember. I got them from a
- 38:04Speaker 1: seller on Discog's brand new and Live and a Dive.
- 38:08Speaker 1: Obviously we talked about earlier because we want teenage Bottle
- 38:11Speaker 1: Rocket to do it. It was I think it was
- 38:13Speaker 1: a two thousand and five. Yeah, those were those were
- 38:15Speaker 1: my last two, and I think that actually completed my
- 38:17Speaker 1: the leg wagon collection. Wow, I think I got them.
- 38:20Speaker 4: Holy ship, I'm gonna have to I might rob you.
- 38:22Speaker 1: Was that cool? Yeah's you're on camera?
- 38:24Speaker 5: So oh well it's can you show me where they are?
- 38:28Speaker 4: So I know my busted?
- 38:30Speaker 1: So I have to do it too. Can I do
- 38:33Speaker 1: a two record? Because we are two beards one record,
- 38:36Speaker 1: but we can do two beards.
- 38:37Speaker 4: To One of them was for my wife, and one
- 38:40Speaker 4: of them was for me.
- 38:42Speaker 5: I got who framed Roger Rabbit soundtrack Solid released by
- 38:48Speaker 5: Mondo Records and that that is a.
- 38:52Speaker 4: Really awesome piece of art record. The other one is
- 38:56Speaker 4: a band I've never heard of called Matt Pond.
- 38:59Speaker 5: P A also an album called Last Light and I
- 39:03Speaker 5: paid five dollars for it.
- 39:06Speaker 1: Crazy. That's that could be the steal to Two Beards,
- 39:09Speaker 1: one record, two Birds, one stone. Right there, you gotta
- 39:10Speaker 1: you got a record made the wife happy.
- 39:14Speaker 4: Yeah, so Matt Pond, Last Light and who framed Growder?
- 39:18Speaker 1: All right, that wraps up two Beards one Record episode.
- 39:21Speaker 1: I'm Matt, I'm Greg. Uh, stay tuned. Hopefully this is
- 39:24Speaker 1: going to be in every episode. Thing you know, it
- 39:26Speaker 1: has time permits and if if you guys have anything
- 39:30Speaker 1: that you want reviewed, if you guys have any comments,
- 39:35Speaker 1: anything you want to say, just hit up Matt at
- 39:37Speaker 1: beard laws dot com in our little question to the
- 39:41Speaker 1: listeners that I'd love to hear from, and if you
- 39:45Speaker 1: guys can respond, and we're going to do a post
- 39:47Speaker 1: on our Instagram once the podcast is released. I want
- 39:51Speaker 1: to know how you categorize, how you organize your vinyl collection.
- 39:56Speaker 1: Greg has his own theory. That he's gonna patent someday
- 39:59Speaker 1: and I do elpha betifal a to z, So that's
- 40:01Speaker 1: gonna be the thing. We'll put up the question out
- 40:04Speaker 1: on Instagram and we want to hear a response or
- 40:06Speaker 1: feel free to hit up Matt at beardlaws dot com
- 40:09Speaker 1: and we'll share your your answers. All right, ladies and gentlemen,
- 40:12Speaker 1: now it's time for Sports Talk with Logan Part two.
- 40:16Speaker 1: This is This is gonna be mainly about baseball while
- 40:18Speaker 1: baseball playoffs are heating up. Maybe we'll touch a little
- 40:21Speaker 1: bit about football. But my bearded brother Logan is mainly
- 40:24Speaker 1: a baseball guy, so we're trying to get get him
- 40:26Speaker 1: adapted to the other sports. We had him do fantasy
- 40:28Speaker 1: football one year and he finished the last. But he's
- 40:30Speaker 1: a baseball guy and he finished his last and Fantasy
- 40:32Speaker 1: baseball too, So so yeah, the Mets we talked about
- 40:37Speaker 1: last time, how you thought it was a stupid trade.
- 40:40Speaker 1: I feel like you were in the heat of the
- 40:41Speaker 1: moment because it was kind of your one of your
- 40:43Speaker 1: boys that went there, and I recall the bigger Beard
- 40:47Speaker 1: kind of saying, hey, I think it's a great move.
- 40:50Speaker 1: You have to kind of do this if you know,
- 40:52Speaker 1: just show your team, to show your fans that you're
- 40:54Speaker 1: not out of this. Look at them.
- 40:56Speaker 6: It worked. High in the face, I was wrong, I
- 41:00Speaker 6: admit it. It's rare.
- 41:01Speaker 7: It's very rare.
- 41:04Speaker 6: No, it worked. It's amazing.
- 41:07Speaker 7: But they've had the pitching and Struman gave him a
- 41:11Speaker 7: jump like, uh, I don't know this because I watched
- 41:14Speaker 7: every game, but out of the four starts or whatever,
- 41:16Speaker 7: he's gone six innings once.
- 41:18Speaker 6: True, he's been okay.
- 41:21Speaker 1: Yeah, he's great, but they're both playing well. They're hitting
- 41:25Speaker 1: the ball, you know, and and when your pitchers can
- 41:27Speaker 1: hit the ball.
- 41:29Speaker 7: Yeah, he is a heck of a he's a defensive
- 41:31Speaker 7: pitcher you can hit. But mainly, hey, it helped helped
- 41:36Speaker 7: jump start the Mets and good on them.
- 41:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean there's so many annoying Mets fans like,
- 41:43Speaker 1: I'm not all for it, but I guess if I
- 41:46Speaker 1: had to pick a New York team that was decent,
- 41:49Speaker 1: I'd rooted the Mets over.
- 41:51Speaker 7: Them that I had to exist, I picked the Mets.
- 41:57Speaker 1: Yeah, or the Buffalo Bisons. Yeah, they have to they're terrible.
- 42:02Speaker 1: But it's crazy. I mean, just looking real quick at
- 42:04Speaker 1: the wild Card, I mean seven teams that are in
- 42:07Speaker 1: contention within four and a half games right now, the
- 42:09Speaker 1: wild card back Nationals Cubs. I mean, the mess of
- 42:13Speaker 1: just what are they in the last They're six and four,
- 42:16Speaker 1: But we were sitting here as we're talking, how how
- 42:18Speaker 1: great they're playing in there on a three game losing streak.
- 42:21Speaker 1: But maybe maybe it didn't work well.
- 42:25Speaker 6: If you want to go on a run, don't get swept.
- 42:27Speaker 1: That's that's a fact.
- 42:29Speaker 6: That's kind of the same.
- 42:29Speaker 1: Hottest, one of the hottest teams in baseball. But even
- 42:32Speaker 1: in the last five games as the Nationals, so they
- 42:35Speaker 1: just got to try to keep up.
- 42:36Speaker 6: Nationals went eight and one and still lost the game.
- 42:38Speaker 7: To to the Braves. Yeah, but the Braves are playing
- 42:44Speaker 7: right now, yep. But I mean, hey, Donaldson tearing it up.
- 42:50Speaker 7: He's healthy.
- 42:52Speaker 1: And when when you got a starting rotation that only
- 42:54Speaker 1: has to go five or six innings, it makes it
- 42:57Speaker 1: makes life pretty good.
- 42:59Speaker 7: I mean if I was if I was a starter
- 43:01Speaker 7: on some of those teams, I could go my two winnings, Yeah,
- 43:04Speaker 7: I'd do pretty well.
- 43:06Speaker 1: Hell, half the time they're starting these bullpen guys now, yeah,
- 43:09Speaker 1: for an inning or two and then bringing these guys in.
- 43:12Speaker 1: I don't get it. I don't like it, but uh,
- 43:14Speaker 1: speaking mets real quick too. To Grom, first ever pitcher,
- 43:18Speaker 1: to homer and strike thirteen people out in one season twice,
- 43:22Speaker 1: flat out.
- 43:23Speaker 6: Man, It's it's.
- 43:25Speaker 1: Just absolutely amazing. Now does he wear betting gloves?
- 43:27Speaker 6: Oh? I don't know that.
- 43:28Speaker 1: That's that's one thing we should have looked up. Because
- 43:30Speaker 1: if he doesn't wear betting gloves and he's got a homer,
- 43:32Speaker 1: two homers and strikes out thirteen, that's what that's what
- 43:35Speaker 1: a man does.
- 43:36Speaker 6: Like I think Bumgarner hasn't even done that.
- 43:39Speaker 1: No, Babe Ruth hasn't even done that.
- 43:42Speaker 6: There you go, Well, I guess is we shall we go?
- 43:48Speaker 6: Is he better than Babe Ruth?
- 43:50Speaker 1: Oh? Really, we're gonna go there. I mean he's not
- 43:55Speaker 1: better at eating hot dogs and the other stuff.
- 44:00Speaker 6: Fastball topped out at seventy eight miles.
- 44:02Speaker 1: Yeah, and uh no, way he had the form no, no,
- 44:06Speaker 1: I'm I'm gonna go. Yes, I'm gonna say he is
- 44:08Speaker 1: better than Baby Ruth. Imagine if de Graam played at
- 44:11Speaker 1: that time. Could de Graam hold up like Babe Ruth did?
- 44:15Speaker 6: Though, well, probably not, but maybe d Grom would have.
- 44:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I would think maybe, but uh, you didn't have
- 44:23Speaker 1: to back then. It was a different era.
- 44:25Speaker 6: That's true. It wouldn't be the Cy Young Award. It'd
- 44:27Speaker 6: be the de Gram Award.
- 44:28Speaker 1: Oh imagine that. That'd be weird, but it'd be normal.
- 44:31Speaker 7: I think you could take a mid average reliever and
- 44:33Speaker 7: put him playing back then and they'd probably have an
- 44:37Speaker 7: award named after him right now.
- 44:38Speaker 1: Probably, Yeah, if they were in this shape, this form,
- 44:41Speaker 1: with this, if.
- 44:43Speaker 7: You're throwing, if you're throwing straight chatter in the twenties
- 44:48Speaker 7: or when Cy Young was around, I believe, like eighteen
- 44:51Speaker 7: eighties or whatever, like, come on, you got awards, the
- 44:54Speaker 7: Hall of Fame would be named after you.
- 44:56Speaker 6: It wouldn't be the Hall of Fame. It'd be the
- 44:57Speaker 6: Hall of Maclear.
- 44:58Speaker 1: That would be awesome if that was you, They should
- 45:01Speaker 1: just name it that. Maybe. Anyways, maybe I'll try to
- 45:03Speaker 1: raise enough money and we'll just rename it with a
- 45:05Speaker 1: sizeable donation. But Verry, but Barry Bonds has to get in.
- 45:09Speaker 1: That's my thing, the.
- 45:12Speaker 6: Whole whole different topic.
- 45:14Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, one thing that I wanted to throw in
- 45:17Speaker 1: here and get your reasoning or your thoughts. If you've
- 45:21Speaker 1: been able to look are the top five beards in
- 45:24Speaker 1: baseball right now. I ranked my top twelve. So I
- 45:29Speaker 1: want to see if your guys or any of them
- 45:31Speaker 1: make the cut, make it in your thought.
- 45:33Speaker 6: All right? So I did, I did.
- 45:34Speaker 7: I did a little research here and I did. I
- 45:37Speaker 7: did it in no particular order. I only had a
- 45:39Speaker 7: few minutes. Yep, I will, I will name a few.
- 45:42Speaker 1: Let's do this.
- 45:43Speaker 6: Charlie Blackman goes.
- 45:45Speaker 1: That's my one. That's my one. That's one. It's a
- 45:47Speaker 1: mutual one. And it's not. Basically, he doesn't have the
- 45:50Speaker 1: great shape that I want. But in an interview that
- 45:53Speaker 1: I was reading, he talked about how oils and stuff
- 45:55Speaker 1: are important, and he gets my he gets my vote.
- 45:59Speaker 6: And he has some deep neck beard too.
- 46:01Speaker 1: True. I don't I don't care. I have a beard
- 46:03Speaker 1: law that if the if the if there's a man
- 46:06Speaker 1: bun present, avoids the beard. But he doesn't rock the
- 46:09Speaker 1: man bun. He's just got the crazy caveman look. I
- 46:12Speaker 1: like it. Charlie Blackman number one best beard currently.
- 46:16Speaker 6: Little known fact about Charlie Blackman.
- 46:19Speaker 7: When he's out on the outfield, he actually keeps a
- 46:21Speaker 7: spare baseball with him, you know, if he if he
- 46:24Speaker 7: loses a ball that maybe just goes out of the park.
- 46:28Speaker 7: He just reaches in as he's falling down, grabs grabs
- 46:30Speaker 7: a ball, puts it in love, and he's like, I
- 46:32Speaker 7: caught it, and people believe it.
- 46:33Speaker 1: It's a whole new hidden ball trick. Yeah it is.
- 46:37Speaker 1: It's going to be on the next rookie of the year.
- 46:39Speaker 6: It's a hidden beard trick.
- 46:40Speaker 1: Because the rookie of the year is going to fall
- 46:42Speaker 1: like slipping on some dog shit or something redo the arm.
- 46:45Speaker 1: But he's a grown ass man with a beard because
- 46:47Speaker 1: he's homeless, because he just didn't make it out and
- 46:50Speaker 1: his mom turned into a raging alcoholic. She passed away
- 46:53Speaker 1: from psiasis to the liver and he's all alone living
- 46:56Speaker 1: on the streets. Maybe it was human shit. Maybe it
- 46:58Speaker 1: wasn't even dogshit.
- 46:58Speaker 6: Probably human shit.
- 47:00Speaker 1: Ill human shit, you know. And uh, yeah, that's all right.
- 47:03Speaker 1: You guys can pitch a movie idea. We're in.
- 47:05Speaker 6: That's deep. I'll give you a couple more. I like,
- 47:10Speaker 6: I like, I got a couple of high end tight.
- 47:12Speaker 7: Ones, some guys that wear their beards high and tight,
- 47:16Speaker 7: like the serious.
- 47:17Speaker 6: I'm a businessman, but I just happen to play baseball.
- 47:22Speaker 1: He was an honorable mention on my list. I didn't
- 47:24Speaker 1: put him top twelve. I did twelve because like a
- 47:26Speaker 1: twelve pack of beer. Okay, top twelve beards.
- 47:29Speaker 7: Yeah, let me see how many I have one, two, three, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven.
- 47:33Speaker 6: I did eleven. No, I did ten because I've already
- 47:35Speaker 6: dranked two beers fair enough.
- 47:38Speaker 1: Yeah, it's tough to get actual to Kim Bedrosian.
- 47:43Speaker 6: He's got a nice beard, just like his dad. I
- 47:46Speaker 6: remember his dad. His dad had a always had it.
- 47:49Speaker 7: He had one of those eighties beards that fit right
- 47:51Speaker 7: in with like riz Rick Suckliffe and Lee Smith. There's
- 47:54Speaker 7: a bed Rosian. Uh, I'll take him in a minute.
- 47:57Speaker 7: But anyways, bed Rosien and Kevin Pollar were the high
- 47:59Speaker 7: end heights.
- 48:00Speaker 1: I like it.
- 48:02Speaker 6: Flar's got a I'm Superman fast and my beard is
- 48:04Speaker 6: his trim look.
- 48:07Speaker 7: Rugnetto Door has that I'm a scumbag who throws haymakers
- 48:12Speaker 7: when people aren't looking.
- 48:13Speaker 6: Look.
- 48:14Speaker 1: Yep, he's my seventh, he's my seven.
- 48:18Speaker 6: Nice all right, he's been rocking that one for a while.
- 48:21Speaker 1: Yeah, definitely a few beard, of course. Yep, I didn't.
- 48:25Speaker 1: I didn't see how his beard was lately. I looked.
- 48:28Speaker 1: I didn't know if you've still rocked a good one
- 48:30Speaker 1: or how. I haven't seen him, pitch, I haven't.
- 48:33Speaker 6: Seen him too much, but it's pretty good. It's it's
- 48:36Speaker 6: it's like a look.
- 48:37Speaker 1: See, I was just I was going by image searches.
- 48:39Speaker 1: That's so he's gonna sneak in my list. I just
- 48:41Speaker 1: haven't seen him. Let's see a day ago. All right,
- 48:44Speaker 1: that's solid, that's solid. I forgot him.
- 48:47Speaker 6: Arietta has the I kick your ass.
- 48:49Speaker 1: Look yep, yep, that's solid.
- 48:51Speaker 6: Let's see. Okay, I got, I got two more, and
- 48:52Speaker 6: you're three Yankees.
- 48:54Speaker 7: I don't typically consider this a beard, but he rocks
- 48:57Speaker 7: it out so precise every day, the old tin strap.
- 49:01Speaker 6: I gotta give him a point.
- 49:02Speaker 1: At least, who's that? And yeah, and and he's not
- 49:08Speaker 1: supposed to have facial hair, right, right.
- 49:10Speaker 6: So he had to dave it for the Yankees. And
- 49:12Speaker 6: he looks like an idiot.
- 49:13Speaker 1: Yeah, So, I mean I think he should lose points
- 49:15Speaker 1: because he's chose money over his beard.
- 49:18Speaker 6: No, no, he got traded.
- 49:21Speaker 1: Oh true, nothing he can do so he can't do that.
- 49:24Speaker 1: It's not on him, right, Yeah.
- 49:26Speaker 7: The point he gets a point for at least having
- 49:28Speaker 7: one at one point, suck you want you want to
- 49:32Speaker 7: know the best awkward beard in baseball? Yes, my second
- 49:35Speaker 7: last one, Mickey Callaway for the mass. Have you seen
- 49:39Speaker 7: this stubble that he's growing. It's fairly long for stubble,
- 49:45Speaker 7: and it won't grow into a beard because it's the
- 49:48Speaker 7: I'm completely stressed out, ready to ready to kill people
- 49:51Speaker 7: in his muscles.
- 49:52Speaker 6: Help he's got He's got the sixty and stressed look.
- 49:55Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, it's not a great.
- 49:58Speaker 6: Always on edge. It's a good look for him. Most
- 50:00Speaker 6: managers don't rock there.
- 50:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm gonna give him based on just beard appearance.
- 50:05Speaker 1: Like beard fit, How does it fit his face? A
- 50:07Speaker 1: solid six point three? Yeah, it fits him.
- 50:12Speaker 6: My last one, and this goes to the worst beard
- 50:14Speaker 6: in baseball.
- 50:15Speaker 1: I like it.
- 50:16Speaker 7: Kevin Bigio. Kevin Kevin Bigio. He's got an underneck beard. Yeah,
- 50:22Speaker 7: nothing in front of the chin, nothing by the by
- 50:25Speaker 7: the lips. I think mainly because he hasn't it pretty yet.
- 50:27Speaker 1: I was gonna say he's waiting for the balls to drop.
- 50:29Speaker 7: If you if you find a picture of him, he's
- 50:31Speaker 7: the underneck beard just looks freaking horrible.
- 50:33Speaker 1: Yeah, it's it's not good. He looks I'm trying to
- 50:37Speaker 1: the big ears.
- 50:38Speaker 7: You look like a senior in the special uh, in
- 50:40Speaker 7: the special class where they teach him how to like,
- 50:42Speaker 7: you know, change a tire.
- 50:44Speaker 1: Yeah, and the ears. The ears don't help.
- 50:47Speaker 6: No, he's getting he's he in his mind he's getting babes.
- 50:50Speaker 6: But really he's not it.
- 50:53Speaker 1: He probably is. He's still getting babe Let's be honest.
- 50:56Speaker 1: Professional baseball. You can google and be like serous. So no,
- 50:58Speaker 1: this is me Like if that was I would house
- 51:01Speaker 1: him Fami getting babes. All right? So now an extra
- 51:05Speaker 1: thirteen pack because it was it was like a breaker pile,
- 51:08Speaker 1: like there was an eighteen pack of beer. The cart hit,
- 51:11Speaker 1: it hit a couple of beers, Brad. So now I
- 51:12Speaker 1: got thirteen. My my list of thirteen best beards in Baseball.
- 51:17Speaker 1: Kelvin Herrera, Oh yeah, yeah, he's coming in at thirteen
- 51:21Speaker 1: only because Kaykle snuck in. He's gonna he's gonna jump in.
- 51:24Speaker 1: DJ Stewart is twelve.
- 51:26Speaker 6: I haven't seen that one.
- 51:27Speaker 1: Yeah, it's it's it's it's a decent beard. It looked
- 51:31Speaker 1: pretty decent, like on his picture and then if you
- 51:34Speaker 1: actually look at the beard. Yeah, definitely professional, high and tight,
- 51:39Speaker 1: is just well groomed. He's like he's just like a bigger,
- 51:42Speaker 1: thick dude with the chunky cheese.
- 51:45Speaker 6: He's got some ginger in him.
- 51:46Speaker 1: Too, Yes, yeah, and ginger beards always get some extra points.
- 51:49Speaker 1: You'll see a couple. You'll see at least another one. Yeah,
- 51:53Speaker 1: it just it just fits him well. Adam Eaton comes
- 51:56Speaker 1: in at eleven.
- 51:57Speaker 6: Yeah, okay, yep.
- 52:00Speaker 1: Craig Kimberl top ten.
- 52:03Speaker 7: It's something about Kimbell's pointy beard that stands out. But
- 52:05Speaker 7: I think I just dislike him so much that I
- 52:07Speaker 7: don't even get credit for existing.
- 52:09Speaker 1: I feel like it's a decent it could use a
- 52:11Speaker 1: little shape in it's it's not very dense, it's it's
- 52:14Speaker 1: not a terrible beard, but when he comes out with
- 52:16Speaker 1: that like hunchback, stupid little arm thing, it deduct points
- 52:20Speaker 1: in there. But if I'm only going beard, it's it's
- 52:22Speaker 1: top ten.
- 52:23Speaker 6: Yeah, it looks like an alien chin. I'll give you that.
- 52:25Speaker 1: Yeah. Another one you might want to look up if
- 52:27Speaker 1: you have it is number nine is Buck Farmer.
- 52:30Speaker 6: Ooh, the old Buck Farmer.
- 52:31Speaker 1: Buck Farmer. So not only does he have a pretty
- 52:35Speaker 1: well cut, decent beard. His name is Buck Farmer. Yeah, yeah,
- 52:38Speaker 1: that's and he kind of has like that amish type
- 52:41Speaker 1: beard but with a mustache and with a name. And
- 52:45Speaker 1: he's got Buck Farmer odor. Eight. Yeah, we spoke about that.
- 52:49Speaker 1: Number seven Matt Carpenter. He's got a nice looking beard
- 52:53Speaker 1: going right now. I gotta give him props. Six was Kuko.
- 52:57Speaker 1: He was a write in because you have forgot, totally
- 52:58Speaker 1: forgot about him. Number five and you're gonna be like, oh,
- 53:00Speaker 1: you're a little bias. Yeah, I'm a little bit biased.
- 53:02Speaker 1: But Trevor Williams got a nice.
- 53:04Speaker 6: Beard, does have a nice beard.
- 53:05Speaker 1: I forgot him him and him and my number four
- 53:09Speaker 1: were very close, and I wanted to go with Trevor,
- 53:12Speaker 1: but I'm a pirates guy and he had the cool glove.
- 53:15Speaker 1: That was just a little bit of go. But yeah,
- 53:17Speaker 1: I went five for him. Number four, I went justin
- 53:19Speaker 1: Turner ginger get the extra point. It's a decent His
- 53:23Speaker 1: main helps, yea, the main definitely helps. Number three. Archie
- 53:27Speaker 1: Bradley solid beard, Oh yeah, very solid.
- 53:31Speaker 6: Some ginger and he's got some fiery Archie and him he's.
- 53:36Speaker 1: Got some fire. Number two also ginger beard. We didn't
- 53:41Speaker 1: realize there was as many in MLB. Colin Moran, solid
- 53:45Speaker 1: orange beard. He's a he's a bucko right now. You
- 53:48Speaker 1: should see that beard. It's it's nice. I want I
- 53:53Speaker 1: wanted him to be.
- 53:54Speaker 6: I'm watching their game. They're up to Reynolds just hit home.
- 53:57Speaker 1: Yes, nice beard, right yeah.
- 53:59Speaker 6: His MLB picture just looks fantastic.
- 54:01Speaker 1: It does. It's it's well taken care of the smiles
- 54:04Speaker 1: with them, I would have blacked out a tooth and
- 54:06Speaker 1: wore an eyepatch or something. He looks like I wish
- 54:09Speaker 1: everybody could kind of look like him, because he actually
- 54:11Speaker 1: kind of looks.
- 54:11Speaker 6: Like a pirate. He actually does look like a player.
- 54:13Speaker 7: I'm with you.
- 54:14Speaker 1: So that was tough not to be number one. But
- 54:16Speaker 1: as we spoke, my number one, Charlie Blackman, you can't
- 54:20Speaker 1: go you can't go against that. And he's known for
- 54:22Speaker 1: his beard. Like if you think beards in baseball, almost
- 54:25Speaker 1: every list has him. And uh, and you brought up
- 54:28Speaker 1: a good point too earlier. Maybe we'd have like in
- 54:31Speaker 1: one of our next episodes, will do like our top
- 54:33Speaker 1: five best beards ever in baseball, because there's some great ones,
- 54:38Speaker 1: and then we could transition just stashes, you know, we'll
- 54:40Speaker 1: we'll do a quick mustache one.
- 54:42Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 54:44Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll transition into that.
- 54:47Speaker 6: On Sunday.
- 54:48Speaker 7: My beard is getting a colossal shade for the stash
- 54:52Speaker 7: on Sunday Country Western Team and I'm going as a cowboy.
- 54:56Speaker 7: And I'm guessing if you.
- 54:58Speaker 6: Were out in l Passo there were clipping hot true.
- 55:03Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm going with the stash, the old I'm trying
- 55:06Speaker 7: the red gingered white RB look.
- 55:10Speaker 1: Maybe, uh, maybe when I'm out and about Sunday at
- 55:14Speaker 1: the parade with you guys with the stash, maybe we'll
- 55:16Speaker 1: do a couple on the spot Labor Day Parade interviews
- 55:20Speaker 1: for the podcast. Get a hold of We'll get a
- 55:22Speaker 1: hold of Renee, who helps run that stuff. We'll get
- 55:25Speaker 1: her thoughts and uh break down the parade. We'll do
- 55:28Speaker 1: some audio from you guys announcing the parade, some clips.
- 55:31Speaker 6: Yep, yep, I'll be announcing the parade.
- 55:33Speaker 7: Anyone in the in the fifty States of America that
- 55:36Speaker 7: might be in the Hubilton, New York area on Sunday,
- 55:39Speaker 7: come and watch the Hubilton Labor Day Parade.
- 55:40Speaker 1: It's quite the time. And if you're into Garth Brooks,
- 55:43Speaker 1: there's a Garth Brooks tribute band. But you will not
- 55:45Speaker 1: see myself or logan at that I'm having a great
- 55:48Speaker 1: beard day. No, it's yeah, but it's it's crying right
- 55:52Speaker 1: now because it's it's coming off in a couple of days,
- 55:55Speaker 1: and it knows that it's just giving up, all right,
- 55:58Speaker 1: all right, So after this, I feel like, you don't
- 56:01Speaker 1: touch it, John, Phil, you don't touch don't touch the
- 56:05Speaker 1: beard after you shave it this labor day till after
- 56:08Speaker 1: you win the championship in baseball next year. I'm challenging
- 56:11Speaker 1: you on the podcast. Oh boy, so that it's not
- 56:15Speaker 1: that far if you think about it, your labor day
- 56:18Speaker 1: to June I started grow up. Although that's what nine
- 56:24Speaker 1: months time you could have a baby. This will be
- 56:27Speaker 1: your beard baby. We will challenge you to a nine
- 56:29Speaker 1: month beard baby.
- 56:31Speaker 6: A nine month beard baby, yep.
- 56:33Speaker 1: And you can leave the stash or whatever if you
- 56:35Speaker 1: want and just have it and that'll work into the beard,
- 56:37Speaker 1: because like this is my stash, it's way out here.
- 56:40Speaker 1: It'll work into it.
- 56:41Speaker 6: M hm, that's true, it will.
- 56:43Speaker 1: So that's uh.
- 56:45Speaker 6: My wife is finally on board with with with the
- 56:47Speaker 6: beard and the stash.
- 56:48Speaker 1: I think, see, I mean at this point, she doesn't
- 56:51Speaker 1: have a she doesn't have a choice.
- 56:52Speaker 6: I feel no, because I'm a grown ass man.
- 56:54Speaker 1: I mean, you're a man, right, all right, I gotta
- 56:59Speaker 1: ask you. That's our special segment coming up. By Logan,
- 57:04Speaker 1: you're in my thoughts.
- 57:05Speaker 7: By Logan, you're in my thoughts. I have two ones
- 57:08Speaker 7: on sports related. One is sports related, so.
- 57:11Speaker 1: You're having a number two. You're in my thoughts.
- 57:16Speaker 2: That's funny.
- 57:18Speaker 7: Uh.
- 57:18Speaker 6: The other day I was I was having a yurine
- 57:22Speaker 6: break and uh.
- 57:23Speaker 1: Let's set the mood. Where were you?
- 57:25Speaker 6: Where were you? I was in my house. Okay, Janet
- 57:28Speaker 6: Jamison was in my thoughts, but not not to make
- 57:33Speaker 6: me happy. Jenna Jamison.
- 57:35Speaker 7: It was the man. Last time I saw a picture
- 57:39Speaker 7: of Jimmy Jenna Jamison roughly, I don't know. Eight ten
- 57:42Speaker 7: years ago, I was not. I was not happy at all,
- 57:46Speaker 7: and I don't know where it came from. I was
- 57:47Speaker 7: just like I was peeing the other day and I
- 57:49Speaker 7: was like, ah, poor Jenna Jamison. She used to she
- 57:52Speaker 7: used to be cool and hot and do silly things.
- 57:55Speaker 7: But now I don't believe any of that is true.
- 57:58Speaker 1: Let's see here, Jenna Jamison twenty nineteen. She's looking better, really,
- 58:04Speaker 1: she looks good. Two thousand and six not great, there
- 58:07Speaker 1: was some rough times in there, but twenty nineteen not bad.
- 58:09Speaker 1: You lost eighty pounds.
- 58:11Speaker 6: See, that's where I'm going with this.
- 58:13Speaker 1: Well, if you start typing Jenna Jamison, you actually see
- 58:18Speaker 1: like a Keto diet.
- 58:19Speaker 6: How do I know which one is really twenty nineteen?
- 58:21Speaker 6: Like there's some awesome, awesomely all the pictures.
- 58:25Speaker 1: Here, Yeah, I feel like they're pretty much all her. Oh,
- 58:30Speaker 1: like the ones that clearly aren't.
- 58:32Speaker 7: Now, she's never gonna make me happy again. Way, way
- 58:36Speaker 7: too much plastic surgery. Not a fan but yourself.
- 58:39Speaker 1: Yeah, but scroll down a little bit when the one
- 58:41Speaker 1: that says lost eighty pounds, that's herself.
- 58:43Speaker 6: Well, yeah, I mean there's let me see, and Jenna,
- 58:46Speaker 6: if you.
- 58:47Speaker 1: Happen to stumble upon this or anybody that knows Jenna,
- 58:50Speaker 1: I'm not saying that it's a terrible thing because you're
- 58:53Speaker 1: still beautiful, And if you want to hang out and
- 58:54Speaker 1: teach me about Keto, I'd listen, just to say, like, hey,
- 58:57Speaker 1: I hung out with Jenna Jameson. Yeah. Ever last always
- 59:01Speaker 1: makes me laugh. All right, So what was what was
- 59:04Speaker 1: the number two? You're in my thoughts?
- 59:08Speaker 6: The number two?
- 59:08Speaker 1: Number one the number two number one.
- 59:12Speaker 6: Well, well it's making me depressed.
- 59:15Speaker 7: Listen.
- 59:15Speaker 1: Just remember this as a podcast so we don't have
- 59:17Speaker 1: to get off live. I guess we're technically not live
- 59:23Speaker 1: because I'm gonna I can edit that shut out right right.
- 59:26Speaker 7: My other one, Oh side note, I was thinking about
- 59:28Speaker 7: Jose Patista the other day when I was peeing, but
- 59:29Speaker 7: we don't need.
- 59:30Speaker 6: To go there. I miss him dearly, Yes you do,
- 59:35Speaker 6: I know.
- 59:35Speaker 1: And he had a beard.
- 59:36Speaker 7: Yeah, you're in my thoughts. This whole idea of robo OMPs.
- 59:40Speaker 7: I haven't read too much on it with the in
- 59:41Speaker 7: the independent league, but I'm sorry, come on, yeah, no way,
- 59:48Speaker 7: it doesn't make any sense. It's just they want to
- 59:50Speaker 7: make the game quicker. It's not going to make the
- 59:52Speaker 7: game quicker.
- 59:52Speaker 6: There's no way.
- 59:54Speaker 1: I don't see it.
- 59:55Speaker 7: Yeah, but yeah, I was peeing and pissed off at
- 59:57Speaker 7: roboms So what's There's a conversation there having on MLB
- 1:00:01Speaker 7: dot com or MLB Radio about how cool it would
- 1:00:04Speaker 7: be and if they used it every once in a while.
- 1:00:06Speaker 6: And it's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: It is. It is pretty dumb in my opinion as well.
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: But what I would love to see in MLB. If
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: you're listening, you can feel free to take my thought.
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: You can feel free to steal my idea. I just
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: want a little credit. But when there's an argument on
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: the balls and strike, it has to be like, sock
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: them boppers if they get into it. I know you're
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: not supposed to hit the ump, but if it's a
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: robot and that doesn't have feelings, I feel like you're
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: allowed to hit them, but you only win if you
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: hit them in the right spot and the head goes up.
- 1:00:35Speaker 6: Yeah. I like that they have an on deck circle,
- 1:00:38Speaker 6: have a little argument circle. Yes, I don't know.
- 1:00:41Speaker 7: If I call it the balls and Strike circle, because
- 1:00:43Speaker 7: I just find I feel like, well, I feel like
- 1:00:47Speaker 7: that would be a bad title.
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: I feel like it'd be marketable.
- 1:00:50Speaker 7: Yeah, until some streaker hops out and lays himself right
- 1:00:53Speaker 7: down on the balls.
- 1:00:53Speaker 6: Something to think about, I guess.
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: Yeah, So I mean that pretty much somes we got
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: two year in my thoughts. We know football season's coming up,
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: and big news is Andrew Luck's surprise retirement. Dude up, dude,
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: couldn't stay healthy. What's your thoughts on it?
- 1:01:06Speaker 6: My first thought is I've never liked to smile. Although
- 1:01:09Speaker 6: it's it's a nice.
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: It's nice.
- 1:01:14Speaker 6: It just looks weird to me. Man, it's genuine, I think.
- 1:01:17Speaker 6: But you know what, if I don't have to look
- 1:01:19Speaker 6: at a smile anymore, I'm okay with it. However, kudos
- 1:01:23Speaker 6: to Andrew Luck for getting out while the getting's good.
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: Agree, regardless health, Yeah.
- 1:01:28Speaker 7: And regardless if he knew he was gonna be able
- 1:01:30Speaker 7: to keep the money or not.
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: Good for him.
- 1:01:33Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:01:33Speaker 7: If I'm an NFL quarterback and I'm being compared physically
- 1:01:37Speaker 7: to some of the greats, but i can never live
- 1:01:39Speaker 7: up to comparison because I'm getting my ass kicked every
- 1:01:41Speaker 7: third down, Yep, no way.
- 1:01:43Speaker 6: No, i'man an offensive line or get me out of
- 1:01:46Speaker 6: there exactly.
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: And what I feel like is very disrespectful is the
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: booze and the way the fans reacted. It's like, you
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: have to take yourself back. Yes, you're a fan, you're
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: a supporter. You you help keep this flourishing business, the NFL.
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: At the same point, he is a human. This dude
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: has done so much for you. He's tried to put
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: every effort, uh the stuff behind the scenes that you
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: don't even see. All you see is him coming out
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: playing football, probably her, probably on all sorts of shit,
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: but the dude, the dude gave his all. And one
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: thing too I read real quick is how Gronk was
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: talking about how you know, obviously he relates what he
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: went through, and there was like a play where he
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: got crunched in the Super Bowl and that's the moment
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: he knew he needed to retire after they won it,
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: and he feels for him. But at the same point
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: he throws it out there that I'm not opposed to
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: coming back someday, but it's the healthiest I've ever felt.
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: So I honestly think maybe someday Andrew Luck gets healthy
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: without playing for two years, comes back as a cult
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: maybe says, hey, he gave me twenty four point eight
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: million dollars on there, you know what, I'm going to
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: play some football for the Colts. Twist.
- 1:02:52Speaker 6: Can I see where he's going with that. I'm gonna
- 1:02:55Speaker 6: say it doesn't happen.
- 1:02:56Speaker 7: And also, though if I go through another Brett Farbus.
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: There's never gonna be another Brett fire type.
- 1:03:04Speaker 7: No, I know that, But I'm saying the whole Oh
- 1:03:06Speaker 7: I'm gone maybe not Oh, you know what, I'm not
- 1:03:09Speaker 7: Oh wait, no, I am.
- 1:03:10Speaker 6: I'm just done with you guys. No, I'll keep going, Hey,
- 1:03:12Speaker 6: anybody want me?
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: No?
- 1:03:13Speaker 6: Okay, Instagram picks, Oh whoop?
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: Is it that? Hey? Gojats? But I want to retire
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: a packer, right, So.
- 1:03:21Speaker 6: Kudos to Andrew luck, good on him for doing the
- 1:03:23Speaker 6: right thing for him and his family. Yeah.
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: And at the end of the day, you don't want
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: to see a guy that can't, you know, in ten
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: fifteen years, walk rage out from all the brain injuries
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: and just start doing harm to himself and others.
- 1:03:37Speaker 7: You know, right, that's a scary thought, right, And you me,
- 1:03:42Speaker 7: probably anyone who ever listens to this podcast, you know
- 1:03:45Speaker 7: it doesn't have to.
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: Deal with that nose.
- 1:03:48Speaker 6: Those guys deal with that every day.
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: Crazy And one quick thing too, that was our quick
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: transition into football season. Hockey seasons coming up. We love hockey.
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: Neither of us know a ton about hockey. But if
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: you want to listen to a podcast out high hockey,
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: check the Blue Line Hockey Club. They have a podcast,
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: they have a website, a couple of guys that are
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: local to us, Canton, New York. They have a great podcast.
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: They're very in depth with their hockey and their hockey
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: talk and they have great interviews. They have NHL players
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: I know recently Greenway there was a bearded dude on
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: there and potential for our podcast here at beard Laws.
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: Their podcast Blue Line Hockey Club to kind of cross
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: work cross collaborate, I guess for a couple episodes, so
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: I want to give them a shout out Blue Linehockeyclub
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: dot com or check them out on podcast on Spotify.

- 1:04:53Speaker 1: Three eight to book yours Today. It's now time for
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: one of my favorite segment, beerd News. Let's see what's
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: up in the beer news this week. First up, there
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: was an article on NPR dot org in the headline
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: as kids see bearded men as strong but unattractive. So
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: a new study suggested that until the kids reach puberty
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: that they find beards very unattractive, and that kind of
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: breaks my heart. But the study also found that children
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: who had bearded fathers felt very strong and warm against them,
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: So it was the mainly a ton of kids that
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: had beardless father so I already feel sorry for them.
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: But apparently from ages one until puberty, they were shown
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: a photo of a man with a beard and a
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: man with a clean face, and they said which man
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: looks stronger, which man looks older, which man looks more attractive.
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: In a couple of questions whether they were adults, whether
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: they were kids, whether they were puberty kids, whether it
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: didn't matter, every single one of them thought that the
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: beard made them look older and stronger, because it's true,
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: let's be honest, but puberty, age and down. Overwhelmingly of
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: the children that had beardless beardless fathers all answered older, stronger, yes,
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: but very unattractive, which apparently scientific research on beards is
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: very skint. When there's a researcher Cole Nelson and her
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: colleague Barnaby Dixon show, you know, like we talked about already,
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: the beards make them look stronger, make them look older,
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: but apparently we're just not unattractive, which is okay, But
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: I feel that beards are going to be around forever.
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: I mean, all of the guys in our feature Beard's
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: section all had great beards, great influential people. Myself, I
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: got a beard looks pretty good, right, You guys would
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: tell me if it didn't. I know my mom hates
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: this arm mom, but I gotta keep it. You know,
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: I got a brand, I got a business, I got
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: this podcast. If I shaved this beard off, nobody's gonna
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: listen to this podcast. We're gonna go from about twelve
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: people listening to you know, one, maybe two people, because
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: I'm still gonna listen to it. Obviously, you put the
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: work in, you know. So apparently these two Nelson and
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: Dixon are going to continue doing beard research, which is
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: good except for when it finds all the bad and
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: then the publicity's bad on the beards. Find the positive.
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: There's lots of studies that shows that there isn't actual
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: shit in beards, So find those articles, not the stupid
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: ones you see on Facebook or whatever stupid social media
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: that says there's shit in beards. Trust me, there's not
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: the same research. It showed that beards apparently enhance observer's
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: ability to recognize facial expressions that like for anger and
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: other kind of you know, upset, fired up emotions, but
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: not all of them. Beards didn't seem to offer any
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: competitive advantage in mixed martial arts fighting, however, which is random,
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: I guess, because apparently beards might offer dishonest signals of formatability.
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: So okay, So rocking a beard and mixed martial arts
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: it's cool. It's it's accepted, which it should be. You
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: think you'd want it in like all sports, I mean,
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: it absorbs, you know, it could take a punch, it
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: can take a kick to the face and elbow for mma,
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: you know, football, it's going to help cushion, you know,
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: especially if you're a slot guy. I mean if you're
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: if you're a punter, or if you're a kicker. I
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: feel like you should just rock a big ass beard anyways,
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: just to get a couple more tough guy points. Maybe
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: maybe you, Pat McAfee, should have rocked a big old beard,
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: even though you fucked up a couple guys on tackles
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: on the old kick returns props to that. So with
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: anything in life, there's pros and cons to growing a beard.
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: I mean, if I have to be called unattractive, but
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: more mature and strong, not old. I'm gonna go with mature.
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: Hell yeah, I'll take it. Plus, let's be honest, there's
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: a handful of you beautiful women out there that absolutely
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: love beards, and that's what I likes about you, and
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: that's what I appreciate about you. In recent beard news,
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: recent beard approvals have not sparked influx of religious accommodation
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: requests from the Air Force. So apparently, for about a year,
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: the Air Force has weigh in on a staff sergeant's
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: request to grow a beard as part of his religious
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: beliefs before granting him a waiver, a decision that balanced
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: personal liberty against military readiness. A Pentagon spokesperson said, this
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: is on military dot Com. Check it out, all right,
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: So I'm not plagiarizing. I'm just reading an article which
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: I will gladly provide any links to Military dot Com
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: daily News Recent beard Approvals eight nine. So apparently, Staff
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: Sergeant Garrett soso fack, I'm gonna go with sofak, twenty
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: eight year old Aerospace Ground Equipment craftsmen, thank you for
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: your service and your ability to push these beards. My man,
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: he's at the Hill Air Force Base, which is in Utah.
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: He is a belief system whose includes the gods Odin
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: and Thor, and has been released a waiver. The beard
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: of my faith serves as a symbol that represents one's integrity,
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: is what he had told apparently the Stars and Stripes
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: in an email in July twenty fifth. Since the Air
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: Force places a high value on the rights of its
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: members to observe the tenets of their respective religions or
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: to observe no religion at all, they gave it a shot.
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: That's pretty sweet. So this dude, he's rocking a decent beard.
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: He's got it well, well groomed, well trim. You could
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: tell he's rocked a mustache for a while because his
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: stash game is strong. It's thick, it's dense, great appearance.
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: The beard just it's okay, it's getting there. I mean
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: he's been out of the beard game for a bit.
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: I'm starting he's I'm guessing he started with a stash
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: and that's why it looks a little more prominent. Or
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: it's just to prove to everybody, which I've said before
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: that just because you shave it a million times doesn't
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: make it grow in any faster. You got what you got.
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: You either are blessed with the ability to grow a
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: good beard or you're not. If you're not sorry about
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: your luck. If you are, Hell yeah, my bearded brother,
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: beard five, I actually just gave you a beard five
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: sold you guys throw a beard five back. But yes,
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: congratulations on your getting your beliefs and your beard grown out.
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: You know, as an active member in the military, I
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: should definitely look into this, this religion, this this belief
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: that you're into. Just in case I ever need in
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: my back pocket, I am going to start to be
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: a believer. In other beer news, in our last article
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: is also a military type story of a guy that
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: allowed to grow some facial hair. That's what we like
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: to see, some positivity, some good news in our beer
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: news segment. So there was a change to the facial
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: hair policy that is going to take effects September. First.
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: This is an article from the Sun dot co dot
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: UK and it's an airmen beards for the first time.
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: RAF Airman are to be allowed to grow beards for
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: the first time in the forces one hundred and one
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: year history. They more or less said that, you know,
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: it's about moving along with the Times. I mean one
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: hundred year policy. That's a pretty old policy. Of course,
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: there should be some change, there should be some updating,
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: and uh that's what they're gonna do. So through the article,
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: it just kind of talks about how a spokesman said this,
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: and a spokesman said that, and a spokesman said this.
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: So this change will bring the RAF into line with
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: the Royal Navy. The Army does not allow beards unless
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: for religious or medical reasons. It has no plans to
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: change that, but RAF, and apparently the Royal Navy has
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: already incorporated this. So congratulations. There's a there's a picture
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: of a dude. Station Warrant Officer Nick Dale. He's from
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: the number one Air Mobility Wing based at RAF. He
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: was dressed it looks like, yeah, world War two RAF dress,
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: and he was rocking his November mustache and it is
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: a great looking stash. Do next to him, he's got
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: a stash not nearly as good. Looks like he's in
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: a normal uniform. But uh, yeah, that's great news. So
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: let's let's look in September. We'll have some updates and
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: we'll keep an eye on all the sweet RAF beards.
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: That are going to start September. First, thank you to
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: Theesun dot co dot uk for the great article, the
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: great news and uh yeah, that's going to conclude Beer News.
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: If you find an article or you have something that
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: you would like to be discussed or something that you
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: would like featured in Beard News, please send it, share
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: it with us on social media Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, or
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: email me Matt at beard Laws dot com. Now it's
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: time for the featured Beard of the Day. This one
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: was kind of a tough one for me to do
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: based on who it is in my passion for Pittsburgh,
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: but featured Beard of the Day because I feel like
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: it's quite a fee, quite an honor, quite a dedication
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: to the beard game is Ravens Hall of Famer Ed Reed.
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: The reason it was tough for me, obviously, if you
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: are a Pittsburgh fan, you despise Baltimore. I've cursed out
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: Ed Reid many times and I don't even know the guy.
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: That's just what sports does to you. So Ed Reid,
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: if you ever listened to this, it was never personal,
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: mo Man and what you did on your beard game,
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: what you've done for beards in the Hall of Fame,
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: I respect that. I appreciate that, and you obviously had
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: an amazing career and just an amazing player, even if
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: it was against my team. But we still got a
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: couple of Super Bowls, so I can't be too mad, right,
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: And you got you got yours, So if you guys
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: know what I'm talking about. Hall of Fame Pro Football
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: Hall of Fame had their ceremony in Canton, Ohio, Saturday,
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: August third. Ed Reid, who was a guy that rocked
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: a beard for many years. How the article on the
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: Baltimore Sun dot com put it said, the legend of
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: Ed Reid continues to grow off the field as much
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: as it grew on it. So there is a picture
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: it's Ed Reed, you know, kind of standing in front
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: of the podium. It's got a picture of his his
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: sculpture that's going to go in the Hall of Fame.
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: He's got he's got the beard. He's rocking the beard
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: at the Hall of Fame, rocking the beard on the trophy.
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: It's just it's a great thing for the beard game.
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: It's a great thing for all of us bearded brothers.
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: And yeah, if only I could have got him in
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: a beard law. Sure that would have been pretty sick
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: Ed Reid. Anybody that knows Ed Reed, or a friend
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: or a cousin, or a cousin's cousins, friend's sister, or
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: anybody that might know his agent. I want to give
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: Edreid a congratulatory Beard Laws hook up with a shirt
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: or something like that. So let's make it happen. So, Yes,
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: as the Baltimore Sun put it, not only is his
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: legendary career going to always be remembered for his excellent play,
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: what he's done for the community, what he's done, you know,
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: on and off the field, but it's also going to
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: be known for that beard. And that beard will ever
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: be enshrined for as long as the Pro Football Hall
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: of Fame is around him. The beard. So that is
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: why Ladies and Gentlemen Hall of Famer Ed Reid takes
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: a special a place in Beard Laws podcast history as
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: the fourth ever featured Beard of the Day. Congratulations on
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: everything you've done, Ed read not that you need it. Yeah,
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: that was a tough one for me to do, and
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: I'm glad I did it. I'm glad I did it.
- 1:16:50Speaker 2: Believe you.
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: The cross and thus I never said so.
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: But now is the writing you try out, never.
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: When you went.
- 1:17:27Speaker 6: What a fake for one time away for America American.
- 1:17:50Speaker 7: And we again not alone the summertime, the ste so
- 1:17:55Speaker 7: I know it's time, but I say the cold hills.
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: What's having the same to say, I'm I'm falling falls.
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: I couldn't say it convite to my friends. I take
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: my life, yeah,
