- 0:22Hi, welcome to Into the Weeds podcast here on Military
- 0:25Broadcast Radio. I'm Alora and Amber is currently
- 0:28out here because she's actually out of state.
- 0:31She is helping celebrate my cousin because he just graduated
- 0:35from basic training at Fort Sill in Oklahoma.
- 0:38So a big shout out to Phoenix. I know he would hate me if he
- 0:42knew that I said his name, but his face is already on the
- 0:45community tabs. So everybody just go ahead and
- 0:47give that a like and send good vibes Phoenix's way.
- 0:50So anyway, thank you all for joining me here tonight.
- 0:54I do have a special guest. It's.
- 0:57Probably not a special guest, you guys are all thinking.
- 0:59But anyway, I'm super excited to have her on.
- 1:03So basically the other day there's a really big channel.
- 1:06Her name is Call Me Chris. She's actually married to
- 1:09Umbaville. His name is Caleb.
- 1:11And she did a video on Gypsy Rose a couple of days ago and
- 1:17she got a lot of comments basically kind of telling her to
- 1:21check out the FOIA's. So she deleted the video
- 1:24actually. And, you know, did a little
- 1:28community post and she said that she's going to be looking into
- 1:32some of the FOIA's. So I just figured that I would
- 1:36react to her video, or at least as much of her video as I could
- 1:40find on the Internet and just kind of do a little bit of a
- 1:44commentary. So today we have 1980 millennial
- 1:48commentates joining us. Thank you for coming on in.
- 1:51Hey, Laura, thank you for having me.
- 1:54Hello. Hello.
- 1:55So I'm going to operate tonight as if nobody has ever seen our
- 2:00channel because I feel like this might draw on a couple of new
- 2:03viewers. So, millennial, would you mind
- 2:06kind of telling everybody why you started looking into the
- 2:10Gypsy Rose case? Sure.
- 2:12I am from southwest Missouri. I lived in Aurora, MO at the
- 2:15same time as Dee Dee and Gypsy Rose Blanchard whenever they
- 2:19were there after Hurricane Katrina, before they got the
- 2:22Pink House in Springfield, MO. I'd never met them personally
- 2:26myself. I did have friends and family
- 2:28who knew them and obviously because they did so many, so
- 2:32much media and fundraisers and things like that, I saw their
- 2:35stuff being shared around in real time.
- 2:38After the murder I pretty much quit thinking about her until
- 2:42she got released from prison and my initial thought was I know.
- 2:47I hope she does good, whatever. And then she immediately started
- 2:53wanting to meet Taylor Swift, went on a podcast and said I
- 2:56don't even identify as a murderer and all this stuff.
- 2:59And it made me really start wanting to dig into who is this
- 3:03person and should she even be out because she definitely
- 3:07shouldn't be an influencer. I mean, that is a fairpoint.
- 3:13The way that I got introduced to Gypsy was via the act as a lot
- 3:17of people. I watched it, I enjoyed it as
- 3:21much as you can enjoy ATV show like that, you know, very sad,
- 3:27very sad stuff that it depicted. So yeah, I watched that with an
- 3:31ex-boyfriend of mine. We, you know, we're super
- 3:34supportive of Gypsy and whenever she decided or not when she
- 3:37decided, but whenever she got to the point where she was about to
- 3:40be released from prison, I started talking to my mom about
- 3:43it and to everybody who's a normal viewer, you will know I
- 3:47am not the host of Into the Weeds podcast.
- 3:50It's actually Amber, my mother, and our cousin Shelly.
- 3:56She goes by Shelly, at least to us, but I believe you might find
- 4:00something on our channel that says Audra.
- 4:03I think her name is, that's her name.
- 4:05I'm sorry. I, I don't actually, I don't
- 4:07even know if I've ever actually physically met Shelly other than
- 4:09when I was a baby. So anyway, Shelly got arrested
- 4:13for a drug charge, unfortunately a couple of years ago and she
- 4:18was actually in prison with Gypsy for a little bit of time.
- 4:20She didn't get to know Gypsy personally, but she knows some
- 4:24people that did. And her and my mom, they have a
- 4:27little Bible study that they do over the phone and they started
- 4:30praying for Gypsy. And then my mom started to see a
- 4:32couple of red flags. She ended up discovering fancy.
- 4:37She watched a couple of her videos and just a lot of
- 4:40different things happened that led us here today.
- 4:43But we realized that we probably weren't going to get all of the
- 4:48information from elsewhere. So she just decided to file a
- 4:53bunch of FOIA requests. And so pretty much the Gypstein
- 4:58files, that's, as it's been dubbed by other people on the
- 5:01Internet, kind of is from her. So she's not able to be here
- 5:05today. As I stated before, she's in
- 5:07Oklahoma at the moment. But yeah, so that's why I'm
- 5:12here. And we're just excited to dive
- 5:16into this. And, you know, mad props to to
- 5:19call me Chris for deleting her video when she realized that she
- 5:22might have been missing some information.
- 5:24I know a lot of people don't really do that.
- 5:26Yeah. Absolutely.
- 5:29Yeah. That was really, really cool to
- 5:31see. And and we're not even doing
- 5:35this reaction to like, you know, call her out or dog her out or
- 5:39anything. What we're want to do is because
- 5:42she did take the video down and she's going to look into more
- 5:45stuff we want to go through and help her.
- 5:48Let's correct some things for. Maybe she'll see this.
- 5:52Absolutely. So let's keep it kind in the
- 5:54comments. I don't think that she had any
- 5:55malicious intent. A lot of times if you're not
- 5:59super, super deep diving into everything, you're not going to
- 6:02see a lot of the stuff. There's a lot of people that I
- 6:04interact with, you know, on a day-to-day basis that might have
- 6:07heard about Gypsy Rose, but they've just heard the normal
- 6:09story. So I think that for what it was,
- 6:14her video was a good video if you didn't know anything that's
- 6:19come out in the last two years. Yeah, I mean, I can't, you know,
- 6:23be too hard on her for only looking at mainstream media
- 6:28sources. That's what most people do.
- 6:30But yeah, I'm really glad that she was willing to take a second
- 6:34look and do more research into the FOIA stuff.
- 6:37Absolutely. So Chris, if you happen to be
- 6:39watching, I hope that some of this can be a lot at least a
- 6:42little bit informative. I think my mom might have
- 6:45messaged you on Tiktok but she. Has a lot of followers, so I
- 6:48don't. Necessarily expect her to see
- 6:50it, but if you have any questions or concerns or you
- 6:54want any specific documents or videos or anything sent to you,
- 6:58then just go ahead and reach out.
- 7:00I think that our podcast e-mail is in somewhere on our channel.
- 7:05I want to say it's Into the Weeds podcast at MB Radio dot
- 7:08US, but I don't want to lie to you.
- 7:11I'm not our radio MBRB radio, you're right, MB radio dot.
- 7:17Com. So anyway, yeah, we are all, we
- 7:20are also representing military broadcast radio.
- 7:23Again, I'm operating this podcast like nobody has ever
- 7:25seen us before. I am not personally a veteran.
- 7:28My mother is a veteran. Again, she's not here.
- 7:31But most of the people that I love, that I interact with are
- 7:34veterans. So, you know, I'm just here to
- 7:37support them. So anyway there was a channel on
- 7:43YouTube that had this re uploaded and Millie told me he
- 7:49told me to download it and I was like OK I got this and then I
- 7:53got lazy. I didn't feel that great that
- 7:55night so I didn't do it. The next morning I got up after
- 7:59work or I went on break at work and I started to make a
- 8:01thumbnail and then I realized within the last like 30 minutes
- 8:05it had already been deleted and I was like that sucks.
- 8:09So Millie being the awesome person that she is, thank you.
- 8:14She found a TikTok account that at least has a good portion of
- 8:18this all recorded. Let's see.
- 8:21Let me get to the very first part of it.
- 8:25So, OK, Are you ready to just go ahead and jump on it?
- 8:28Yeah, let's do it. OK, so I'm going to show this to
- 8:31the screen and real quick, I'm just gonna go through the
- 8:36comments just a little bit because I haven't been paying
- 8:38any attention. So thank you everybody for
- 8:40joining us. I see Jules with true crime,
- 8:43true crime and chill crew. New Orleans Lady Ivana, thank
- 8:47you for coming. Again, Maria's only hens.
- 8:52I like it. We'll go to oldie hens.
- 8:55Sammy McComb into the weeds. Awesome people in the chat.
- 9:00Yes, absolutely tempered iron, which y'all should go watch him.
- 9:08We got Joy. Hey Joy.
- 9:10So you might have to moderate a little bit tonight.
- 9:13Maybe not. We try not to silence anybody,
- 9:15but we want to be very respectful towards Chris.
- 9:18She did her best with this. None of this is personal.
- 9:21She did the mainstream media sources.
- 9:24Let's not holler out or anything.
- 9:26I think she understands the error of what went on here.
- 9:30So there's some more people. Sorry that I have not said hi to
- 9:35everybody, but I'm just going to go ahead and jump in because I'm
- 9:38losing my place in the comments, OK?
- 9:40So I'm going to press play and occasionally I will stop.
- 9:43If you see something that sticks out to you, holler at me and
- 9:47I'll stop it and we'll talk about it, OK?
- 9:49Sounds good. OK, cool.
- 9:51Immediately and you see actual appointment openings and Click
- 9:54to instantly book and visit. So there's no phone calls, no
- 9:57see. So let's start in the bayous of
- 10:00southern Louisiana, to a small community in Lafourche Parish
- 10:04called Shack Bay, where a little girl lived named Claudie, Petra
- 10:09and Claudie. I do have to say it is Petrie.
- 10:13Yeah. You know, she's such a big.
- 10:17Channel. I wonder if she has researchers,
- 10:21but yeah, it's it's Claudine Petrie.
- 10:24You might have researchers. Claudine.
- 10:27I pronounce things wrong too. It happens.
- 10:31Yeah, no worries. But anyway, let's move on.
- 10:34Was born on May 3rd, 1967 to Emma and Claude Petra and she
- 10:39would go by many names over the years.
- 10:41To family she was Claudine, but to friends and to eventually the
- 10:45world, she would become Dee Dee. Now, those who knew her growing
- 10:49up describe a girl who always had to be the center of
- 10:53attention, the little Princess, if you will.
- 10:56And relatives would later say that when something happened to
- 10:59somebody else, anything good or bad, Dee Dee usually found a way
- 11:03to make it about her. We all know somebody like this
- 11:07in our life, right? You can't tell somebody a story.
- 11:10You know, I do have to say though, I like the little her
- 11:12and her husband both do this where they like they do a video
- 11:17and they have like 2 cameras and then occasionally they turn to
- 11:19the other camera. I kind of think that's a vibe a
- 11:21little bit. Yeah, that's that's some.
- 11:23They definitely have top notch editing.
- 11:26No, absolutely. I'm trying to like pause every
- 11:29so often just for like, oh, Oats just jumped out.
- 11:32Definitely say hello to the chat, Oats, you're on my wire.
- 11:37But we should. Probably thank the the Tik Toker
- 11:40Ivy Rose 58 for getting this screen grab like.
- 11:47Yes, thank you so much. Ivy Rose feels like there's a
- 11:51lot of Ivy, roses and ivory. Roses around your.
- 11:55Using this one I had not seen before but it seems like she
- 11:59uploads gypsy content and stuff as well.
- 12:02So cool. OK, we're going to get back into
- 12:05it. Without them being like, well I
- 12:07lost something once. And they also described a girl
- 12:11pretty prone to petty theft and small manipulations.
- 12:14Not a hardened criminal, but someone who seemed to operate
- 12:17outside the usual social rules. Someone who felt entitled to
- 12:22what she wanted and got creative about how she got it.
- 12:26And that pattern did not fade with age and as an adult.
- 12:29I gotcha. What's she talking about with
- 12:31petty theft? As a girl I only remember Dee
- 12:34Dee having the bad check charges and then her and Gypsy got
- 12:39caught stealing at the Hobby Lobby.
- 12:45Yeah, that's all that I know of on paper.
- 12:50I can't remember her friends or family mentioning petty theft,
- 12:55but maybe I. I feel like I've forgotten more
- 12:58about this than most people will ever intake so.
- 13:02That is a fairpoint. That's why I'm so glad to have
- 13:05you on here because just trying to tackle all the points myself
- 13:07is insane. New Orleans lady in the comments
- 13:11said that that's all that she knows of too.
- 13:14She lived around eating. Yeah, New Orleans lady knew Dee
- 13:17Dee a little bit back in the day.
- 13:19So yeah, that's all that I've heard of as far as petty theft
- 13:22is concerned. I do know that a couple of
- 13:26months ago privately, my mom and I had an interview where we
- 13:31spoke with somebody that she was friends with as more of a
- 13:35teenager, young adult than as a child.
- 13:38And she did describe some controlling or maybe self
- 13:45absorbed behaviors, but I can't recall, at least off the top of
- 13:49my head, anything that was related to petty theft or
- 13:51anything so. She made it sound like they're
- 13:55like, that was widespread and known, and I just don't remember
- 14:00hearing that. So yeah, I thought that was a
- 14:04good one to stop and maybe correct or find out if she sees
- 14:10this, Maybe she can let us know where she got that information.
- 14:13Yeah, absolutely. To me, it felt like it was just
- 14:17kind of a generalization. Sometimes I do the same thing.
- 14:20But yeah. But yeah, I don't think I've
- 14:23ever heard of any kind of petty theft unrelated.
- 14:28Other than after Gypsy was doing it with her, yeah.
- 14:32Yes. And I like you said, there's,
- 14:35there's so much information to take in.
- 14:38I remember like bits and pieces of some small things, but I'm
- 14:42not great with like being like, yes, this is exactly what I
- 14:45know. And this is exactly where I got
- 14:47it. Like, I know it's in the FOIA
- 14:49somewhere, but there's so much of even the Foyas, and then
- 14:53there's Foyas and then there's prison emails and Oh my
- 14:56goodness, it's just, I don't even know.
- 14:59You know, Chris, if you're watching this, maybe you are,
- 15:01maybe you aren't, but you have a lot to go through.
- 15:05It's really difficult. Even as somebody who's been
- 15:07following this for years and has been pretty involved for about
- 15:11two years, a little over 2 years, I still don't feel like I
- 15:16could make like myself, at least without help.
- 15:20I don't feel like I can make a really great video that just
- 15:23covers all of the points. It's hard to remember it all,
- 15:27like you almost need a team because like, yeah, it just
- 15:32requires more than one pair of eyes and one mind, Dragon
- 15:36Approved said in the comments. It shows integrity that she took
- 15:42it down to say, hey, wait, let me look around and come back to
- 15:45this and definitely, definitely. Absolutely.
- 15:47I totally agree. And again, big shout out to
- 15:49Chris for being able to take that because I know that it
- 15:53takes a lot of effort and time to be able to make these videos.
- 15:58And I'm sure that she probably has her own editor that she
- 16:00probably paid to make this. So she is operating at a loss
- 16:05because she would have made, you know, however much money she
- 16:08would have made from it being live.
- 16:11And I think she only had it up for maybe two or three hours.
- 16:15She deleted it pretty soon because I was at work.
- 16:18I listened to 5/10/15 minutes of it and then I shut it off and
- 16:22when I tried to go look at it again it was gone.
- 16:24So I don't think it was, yeah. Also, definitely it was good on
- 16:29her to actually take the time to take it down and look deeper.
- 16:34Oh, thank you so much to just oh, I feel so stupid.
- 16:38Just a Latif for you. Thank you so much and thank you
- 16:43so much. 1970. I wonder who you are.
- 16:48That's my husband for anyone new.
- 16:50Yeah, When 1980 came in, I was like, is that 1970 Gen.
- 16:54Xer moderates? I was like, no, that's too
- 16:56pretty to be so are we going to start it again?
- 17:01Just see what she has to be OK? Cool DD racked up a documented
- 17:05history of financial schemes, including arrests for writing
- 17:09bad checks and some of them, according to family, stolen from
- 17:12her own relatives DDD. Is that ever like confirmed it
- 17:16was stolen from a relative's? I don't recall.
- 17:19I don't remember hearing that now.
- 17:22The some of her, one of her brothers and sisters said that
- 17:28after, I think it was after her mom died, they said that Dee Dee
- 17:34took out credit cards in their name and ran them up.
- 17:38I've never seen documentation of that.
- 17:41That's just things people have said.
- 17:45So a lot of the things, you know, we've been able to find
- 17:48documentation for, such as the bad checks in Louisiana and
- 17:52different things like that. We have found documentation for
- 17:55things where Didi did have problems here and there.
- 17:58But yeah, some of the stories are just stories.
- 18:02No one. We've never been able to find
- 18:04anything to back that up. And I don't mean this as any
- 18:08disrespect to her family, but it doesn't seem like her family
- 18:13really liked her too much and I don't know what that's for.
- 18:18Yeah, and they change their stories about her a lot.
- 18:22They will be defending her name one day and then running it down
- 18:27the next and talking about how awful she was.
- 18:30So just is what it is, as Ryan would say.
- 18:34Like I don't know how reliable they are.
- 18:39Yeah. No, that's a fairpoint.
- 18:41OK, let's get back into. It give a fuck.
- 18:43But one detail from Dee Dee's childhood stands out above all
- 18:47the others. And as a girl, Dee Dee had a
- 18:49heart murmur, a common, usually minor condition.
- 18:53But her mother, Emma, responded by shielding Dee Dee from the
- 18:56world. And if you know anything about
- 18:58this entire case, this may sound familiar, but she was known for
- 19:03keeping her home, keeping her close, and treating her as the
- 19:07sick child. So Dee Dee learned something
- 19:10from that experience. And what she learned is what
- 19:14does and how it draws people in and how it opens wallets and
- 19:18softens hearts, and how being sick or caring for the sick
- 19:23earns a kind of attention that nothing else can.
- 19:26So as a young woman, Dee Dee trained as a nurse's aide.
- 19:29And on paper, that was like a pretty practical career too.
- 19:33But in practice it. What was what confirmed?
- 19:36What exact kind of training she got?
- 19:38I didn't think it was nurse's aide, but I could be
- 19:41misremembering that part. When I heard that part of the
- 19:46video, it did raise a flag to me where I was like, I don't recall
- 19:50that, but. Yeah, there was some sort of
- 19:53training and I think she did do work at a hospital.
- 19:58New Orleans lady, if you're in the comments, can you shed some
- 20:02light for us maybe? But I I didn't think it was
- 20:06Nurses 8. I thought that was eventually
- 20:11corrected. But like I said, I might just be
- 20:14misremembering. So if you want to go on ahead
- 20:16and I'll watch the comments, we can.
- 20:21Thank you so much. You 2 made me write the long
- 20:24username. Oh you know what?
- 20:27That's fair. You're going to have a little
- 20:28bit of something so they can differentiate you from everybody
- 20:30else. So again, thank you so much.
- 20:36Wasn't a nurse RNA? Yeah, I'm not sure.
- 20:39I'm not sure. So we're and, you know, I also
- 20:42want to make this very clear. There's some things that we're
- 20:44going to talk about. We don't know for a fact.
- 20:46And no matter what, we can read documents and we can think
- 20:53something. But there's his side, her side,
- 20:56and the truth, and it's somewhere in the middle there.
- 21:02I feel like there has to be at least a nugget or two of truth
- 21:06in this story because the best liars draw from a little bit of
- 21:10truth. So I don't want to pretend like
- 21:14I know the whole story whatsoever.
- 21:17We're just trying to shed as much light on and misinformation
- 21:20as we can, clarify what we can, I feel like, So I'm going to
- 21:25press. Just gave her three things, the
- 21:28language of medicine, you know, symptoms, treatments and
- 21:33terminology and access to medical settings and an
- 21:36understanding of how hospitals actually worked and credibility
- 21:40because that trust that people naturally extend to someone who
- 21:43cares for patients. People just like if you're a
- 21:46nurse, a nurse isn't going to like Brush.
- 21:50I don't feel, I don't know that it really give her that much
- 21:54credibility because we've all seen most likely, you know,
- 21:59anyone who's been in this case for a while, Dee Dee's list of
- 22:04gypsies conditions, everything was misspelled.
- 22:08I mean, it didn't read like someone who had actually worked
- 22:13in a hospital and had to be familiar with writing down those
- 22:17sorts of things, you know? No, that's a fairpoint.
- 22:20And if it gave her credibility and her deception worked as well
- 22:29as Mike Stanfield and Gypsy Rose Blanchard has convinced everyone
- 22:33it did. They had not been in Springfield
- 22:37one year before a doctor was sending DFS out to that house.
- 22:43And the reason why they left is because they realized Gypsy was
- 22:46over 18. They didn't have jurisdiction
- 22:48over and because she chose to act malingering herself, whether
- 22:53it was by, you know, teaching or whatever, she chose to act in a
- 22:58way that caused them to notate that she appeared to be
- 23:01obviously mentally disabled. So yeah, anyway, I'm just, I had
- 23:06to stop and I have a little ramble there, sorry.
- 23:10For. Sure, you're good.
- 23:11I appreciate your commentary. Suicide me like, oh, you don't
- 23:14know anything. I mean, you're a nurse, right?
- 23:16And now, before we go any further, this is important to
- 23:19note and that what you're about to hear are allegations, claims
- 23:22made by Dee Dee's own family, mostly after her death.
- 23:26And she was never actually charged with any of it.
- 23:29And it can no longer be proven. So take everything with a grain
- 23:31of salt, all right? But her relatives insist the
- 23:34warning signs were there all along.
- 23:37Now, in 1997, when Didi's mother, Emma, became gravely ill
- 23:40and Didi naturally stepped into the role of caregiver, the
- 23:44devoted daughter at the bedside, you know, And Emma would die
- 23:48later that year. And some of the family members
- 23:51would later claim they believed Didi played a role in her
- 23:54decline and that under Didi's care, Emma seemed to get worse
- 23:59and worse and not any better. And her stepmother, Laura Petra,
- 24:02went even further. And she alleged that Didi tried
- 24:05to poison her with weed killer through an episode, she claimed.
- 24:10So has that claim ever been substantiated?
- 24:13Is that something? I mean, I've heard it, but have
- 24:16I ever heard that that's actually true?
- 24:20So that was a thing that Christy Blanchard said.
- 24:27Now in your mom's FOIA's, there was a police interview where I
- 24:37think it was Laura Claw's wife started.
- 24:43It was so weird. They called to tell them that
- 24:45they let Didi was they found her body, you know, that she was
- 24:49dead. And I if I remember right, Laura
- 24:53started going off about how Didi had poisoned a cactus.
- 24:59And Gypsy said I saw Mama putting the spray and in the
- 25:04food or something like that. But I don't.
- 25:07I don't remember if it would if they were talking about Emma or
- 25:11if they were talking about trying to accuse her of another
- 25:15time. But it was all every rumor that
- 25:20I've been able to track down about that didn't seem to
- 25:24surface until after the murder. Interesting.
- 25:28And it almost sounds like, and as you're saying that I'm
- 25:31starting to kind of remember again, there's so much, y'all.
- 25:35There's so much. It's hard to remember every bit.
- 25:38But I'll remember little pieces of things, and I feel like I
- 25:43remember that most of this stuff seems like it kind of came from
- 25:47Gypsy, too. Yeah, what was really, really
- 25:51strange, whenever I was listening to that phone call,
- 25:55the recording, it sounded like Laura and Claude were going off
- 26:03running Dee Dee down the road in front of Gypsy without Dee Dee
- 26:07around. And as a child, trying to please
- 26:11that Gypsy, like, tried to think of something else to say about
- 26:14Dee Dee. That's just my pure speculation.
- 26:17That's just the feeling that I got.
- 26:19Listen to that and which doesn't mean anything.
- 26:22Not a trained person and human behavior.
- 26:25It's just the feeling I got, you know?
- 26:28Yeah, totally. I totally get it.
- 26:30But yeah, I don't think that, for the record, I don't think
- 26:34that any of these claims about Dee Dee harming her mother have
- 26:38ever produced any evidence other than people that already seem to
- 26:45either not like her or have a reason to talk crap about her.
- 26:49You know, it doesn't seem like this really comes from anywhere
- 26:52but that. But again, I'm not trying to say
- 26:54that nothing ever happened because again, nobody, nobody
- 26:57really knows. Anything could have happened.
- 26:59But in my personal opinion, I don't believe that.
- 27:06I don't believe that Dee Dee had anything to do with the death of
- 27:08her mother. I could be proven wrong, but I,
- 27:13you know, from all the evidence I've seen, it doesn't seem to be
- 27:16substantiated by any evidence. So.
- 27:21OK. James left her bedridden for
- 27:23months now again. This notice means nothing for.
- 27:27And. I think I was at like 3 minutes
- 27:30and something. We're going to start here.
- 27:35Oopsie guys my bad. Some of the.
- 27:36Family members would later claim they believed Dee Dee played a
- 27:40role in her decline and that under Dee Dee's care, Emma
- 27:43seemed to get worse and worse and not any better.
- 27:47And her stepmother? I'm going to pee real quick and
- 27:49I'm going to let this keep going.
- 27:50So when I come back, if there's something you want me to pause
- 27:53and talk about, then we'll go ahead and do that.
- 27:55Sorry, all I had before I got before I got.
- 27:58On. Mother Laura Petra went even
- 28:01further and she alleged that Dee Dee tried to poison her with
- 28:04weed killer after an episode she claims left her bedridden for
- 28:08months. Now, again, these are
- 28:10allegations, but, you know, with the history we're about to go
- 28:15over, I'm not going to put it faster, to be honest.
- 28:17And years later, when the full story of Dee Dee Blanchard
- 28:20finally came out, her family didn't react with disbelief.
- 28:24So that says something, too. They just kind of reacted with
- 28:27recognition. So in the middle of 1990, Dee
- 28:30Dee, now 23 years old, met a young man at a bowling alley,
- 28:34and his name was Rod Blanchard. Now, Rod was 17.
- 28:38And the relationship started to move pretty fast, pretty
- 28:41quickly. And within months, Dee Dee was
- 28:43pregnant. And before the year was out, the
- 28:45two were married. And Rod would later admit he was
- 28:48in over his head almost immediately because, I mean, he
- 28:51was just a teenager. And by his own account, the
- 28:53wedding happened not because he was in love, but because it felt
- 28:57like the right thing to do. And unfortunately, it wouldn't
- 29:00last. And Rod said that he woke up on
- 29:03his 18th birthday, took stock of his life and realized the truth,
- 29:06that he didn't love her. And he left before the baby was
- 29:09even born. Now, on July 27th, 1991, he gave
- 29:13birth to a daughter and she was 24 years old, newly separated
- 29:18and now a single mother. And the baby's name was a
- 29:21compromise of sort. OK.
- 29:23Was there anything that was worth mentioning or commentating
- 29:26on? She not really, other than the
- 29:30fact that she said, you know, based on what we're about to go
- 29:33over about Didi wouldn't put killing her mother past her,
- 29:37which, you know, given what we all know from the FOIA, seems
- 29:41wildly harsh. Yeah, no, that's a fairpoint.
- 29:44I would agree with that sentiment.
- 29:48Yeah. I mean, Didi had issues.
- 29:53I don't want to pretend like that wasn't true.
- 29:55She probably had some mental health issues.
- 29:58And I personally believe personally that there was
- 30:02probably a toxic element in the relationship between her and
- 30:06Gypsy in some regard, and I don't know what that extends to.
- 30:13And she did have an incident with the pizza man, which, you
- 30:18know, we were actually talking about that earlier today, you
- 30:20and I. So again, Chris's husband, his
- 30:24name is Caleb, but he has a channel called Umbaville.
- 30:27And I was watching one of his videos that he did about Gypsy
- 30:30Rose about two years ago, and he actually mentioned the pizza
- 30:34incident, which I hadn't heard anybody else mention other than
- 30:40when we first mentioned it because of the Foyas and stuff
- 30:42like that. You said that it looked like it
- 30:44was an article I was only half paying.
- 30:46Attention. Yeah, he he got it from a news
- 30:48article. And that's understandable
- 30:51because after Gypsy got out and things got so feverish for the
- 30:56information in the true crime community, a lot of places
- 31:00started putting their stuff behind pay walls.
- 31:03That wasn't before, because all of a sudden it was more
- 31:05valuable. Gotcha.
- 31:07But you know, to anybody who doesn't know, there was an
- 31:11incident where, at least according to the police reports,
- 31:16Dede had a pizza man come to her door and she tried to pay him
- 31:21off with coupons, if I remember correctly.
- 31:24A gift certificate for a franchise that was not this
- 31:28specific franchise. They couldn't accept it.
- 31:31Gotcha. OK, so imagine that it's
- 31:33Domino's, but the pizza coupon was for Pizza Hut.
- 31:36Something along those lines. OK, so she, and again, that's
- 31:41not specifically, it's not specifically that, but anyway,
- 31:45so she did she ordered this pizza and to try to give him
- 31:52these gift certificates and he wouldn't accept them.
- 31:56So according to police reports, she, I guess, kind of choked him
- 32:00out and. So she it says she grabbed him
- 32:04by the collar and tried to like, yank it by the shirt collar and
- 32:08left a scratch mark on his neck. And he said they'd had previous
- 32:12incidents with her and that's why he wanted they wanted it
- 32:16documented on a police report so that they could prove to their
- 32:19management that why they needed to stop delivering to her
- 32:23address. Wow, and I wasn't trying to over
- 32:27sensationalize it y'all. I just, there's so much
- 32:29information and I have a bad memory so sometimes I'll get
- 32:33like pieces of things and I remember.
- 32:35But yeah, it seems like she grabbed a shirt collar and that
- 32:39this is something that did happen, or at least it was
- 32:42recorded as happening. Who knows every little detail
- 32:45that was about it. But they decide not to press
- 32:48charges, so that's worth anything.
- 32:55I don't know. OK.
- 32:57Is it OK if I press play or is there anything else?
- 32:59Yep, I'm good. Cool, cool, cool.
- 33:01Dee Dee simply liked the name Gypsy, and Rod was a fan of the
- 33:05band Guns and Roses. So Gypsy Rose Blanchard.
- 33:10Yeah, makes sense. And the story Dee Dee would tell
- 33:12about Rod for the next two decades was very different from
- 33:16the truth, because she painted him as just a deadbeat, an
- 33:20addict, a father who wanted nothing to do with his sick
- 33:23little girl. That's what she put with her
- 33:25family. And that's.
- 33:26I was just thinking about that. She doesn't understand this was
- 33:30true. Like it.
- 33:32I mean, even Gypsy's book, her memoir, paints Rod as a
- 33:38deadbeat, an addict, a drug user.
- 33:43This wasn't Didi's imagination. No, I think it's pretty safe to
- 33:48say that Rod was a drug user. And I don't know, you know, when
- 33:55that stopped or anything like that.
- 33:57I don't have any reason to believe that it's a current
- 33:59thing. Who knows?
- 34:02But. You know, even speaking to some
- 34:07of Dee Dee's close friends from back in the day who know Rod and
- 34:11Christy and stuff, she said that she never really formed a
- 34:14relationship with them because of certain reasons.
- 34:18You know she. Well, Gypsy even wrote in her
- 34:20memoir that Rod approved of that.
- 34:22He was high off on an acid trip whenever she was born.
- 34:25Literally. Yeah.
- 34:28And you know, something that she'll get into a little bit, I
- 34:32believe, is about how, like, you know, you know, they kept Gypsy
- 34:36away from him and he didn't want anything to do with her.
- 34:39But they well, well first of all they kept in somewhat regular
- 34:46ish contact. Not as regular contact as I
- 34:48would want with my dad if he was separated from my mother and
- 34:50lived in a different state. But they were friends on
- 34:54Facebook up until the the crime. As well as Gypsy being friends
- 35:01on Facebook with all of her family on both sides.
- 35:05And remember when we discovered in the last FOIA documents that
- 35:11over Facebook Messenger, Dee Dee was trying to get Rod and
- 35:15Christy to pick Gypsy up and take her on a vacation with
- 35:18them? And Rod was the one saying I
- 35:21don't think I could do that. Yeah, I I'm trying to remember
- 35:27where this even came from, but I believe that he even straight up
- 35:30said that. Like, you know, I didn't think
- 35:33that she was going to live, so I tried not.
- 35:35He did in an interview, yeah. So it was literally early on in
- 35:39his words. Yeah.
- 35:40It's like, I didn't think she was going to live.
- 35:42And, you know, most parents would be like, wow, I don't
- 35:44think my my child's going to live.
- 35:46I'm going to try and save her every second I can with them, no
- 35:49matter how sick they are. And if I recall correctly, I
- 35:53believe that there was even an instance in which they might
- 35:56have gone to Disney and or they were on some trip.
- 36:00And you know, Rod and Christy and Mia and Dylan and all of
- 36:05them, they were actually somewhere nearby wherever
- 36:08they're vacationing and they're trying to get them to hang out
- 36:10with her for longer. But they only saw her for like
- 36:13an afternoon or something. And then they just left her to
- 36:15be with Dee Dee. I don't remember that one, but.
- 36:19You don't remember that? OK, so I want to say it was for
- 36:21Disney. Don't quote me on that 100%.
- 36:25Try and look and see where I found it.
- 36:26Like we said, there's so much information.
- 36:29It just seems like Rod cared about Gypsy to an extent, but he
- 36:35wasn't actively putting himself in her life very often.
- 36:40Right. One of those things, I suppose,
- 36:46yeah, I don't know. And something that a lot of
- 36:49people don't realize is Gypsy has a sister that's only a
- 36:54couple of months a difference from her.
- 36:57Yeah, yeah, Rad had another woman pregnant at the exact same
- 37:02time as Dee Dee, which it was not, Christy.
- 37:06No, it was not Christy and which I will say that Dee Dee was 100%
- 37:10the wrong for messing around with a man that was not even a
- 37:13man who was like 17. Whatever.
- 37:15I find that weird and gross, but he wasn't exactly like I'm
- 37:19interested in being monogamous. And I think it's safe to say
- 37:25that with a lot of the prison emails that came forward that
- 37:27even with Christy, the so-called love of his life, he's not
- 37:32faithful. He's not faithful.
- 37:33He doesn't he? I have that proof 100% he's not,
- 37:37Janice said. Pimp Juice.
- 37:39Yeah. Crap, I lost what I was going to
- 37:44say. Sorry you're.
- 37:45Good. Something about him being
- 37:47unfaithful. The cookie lady maybe?
- 37:49I don't know. No, it was.
- 37:51He did, for the record, anybody who doesn't know, he did try to
- 37:55basically run away with the woman in Canada that baked
- 38:01cookies at the time. I don't think that her cookie
- 38:04shop survived COVID, but she did have a bakery.
- 38:08And you know, I don't know what to say about it other than
- 38:13Cookie Lady and the Cookie lady and Rod like to get around.
- 38:19I mean, you know, what can you say other than that?
- 38:22So anyway, do you have any other thoughts?
- 38:26Nope, I'm good. OK, cool.
- 38:29What she told charities, and most devastatingly, that's what
- 38:32she told Gypsy. But the reality was that Rod, at
- 38:36the very least paid child support consistently for years,
- 38:40along with extra money for birthdays and Christmases.
- 38:43And he would call and he tried to stay in the picture.
- 38:46But the arrangement was almost from the start entirely on Dee
- 38:50Dee's terms. She controlled when he could
- 38:52call, when he was told what he was allowed to know.
- 38:56And Rod would later put it simply, saying he was just a kid
- 38:59himself at that point and like everyone else in this.
- 39:03Which I mean, Rod, I have a lot of things that I think about
- 39:08you, but I mean, fair. He was just a kid himself.
- 39:11Oh, that is what I was going to say.
- 39:13OK, I remember someone telling me that there's a possibility
- 39:17that Didi might have thought Rod was 18 because they meant
- 39:22drinking in the bowling alley, and at that time, the legal age
- 39:27for drinking in Louisiana was 18.
- 39:29Really. Ride was underage drinking.
- 39:32Interesting, interesting. That sounds again, who knows,
- 39:38but that sounds like a checks out.
- 39:40Who knows, but in the in the interest of fairness, I thought
- 39:44it was important to point that out.
- 39:46The legal age for drinking at that time was 18 and Rod was 17
- 39:53and drinking in the bowling alley, so there is a possibility
- 39:57that Didi didn't know. I don't think she was 24.
- 40:01She was 24 when she had Gypsy, so would she have been 23?
- 40:05Because that's. Really.
- 40:06What they said, Yeah, I'm thinking 22 or 23, Yeah.
- 40:10Yeah, so I, I will make a comment about the the podcast a
- 40:13little bit later. Oh, thank you so much, Cherokee
- 40:15Girl. But yeah, I mean, in the very
- 40:18least, she was 23. I'm 25.
- 40:21It's not illegal, but personally I would not look at an 18 year
- 40:25old. But yeah, I don't know.
- 40:28That's just a personal preference.
- 40:30But it's not illegal. So I don't know.
- 40:33And even back then, I'm not trying to excuse us whatsoever
- 40:36because not even a little bit. But you know, my grandparents
- 40:41and other people within a 20 to 30 year time frame that are
- 40:47close to me, they got married at really concerning ages with
- 40:52really concerning age gaps, or at least concerning now, you
- 40:56know what I mean? So I don't really even know what
- 40:59to say about it. So anyway, I think I'm just
- 41:01going to leave it there. Story.
- 41:04He didn't know the half of it because within a few years of
- 41:08Gypsy's birth, Didi began taking her infant daughter to doctors
- 41:12with a concern. She said the baby wasn't
- 41:14breathing right in her sleep. Sleep apnea she would suggest to
- 41:18them, and doctors would run tests, but the tests would find
- 41:21nothing. But Didi would keep going.
- 41:23And it was the first thread in what would become a 2 decade
- 41:27medical fiction. Just a story so elaborate and so
- 41:31detailed and so just relentlessly maintained that
- 41:34almost no one who encountered it ever questioned it out loud at
- 41:38least. And I feel like before we get
- 41:40any further, I really want to talk about Munchausen's syndrome
- 41:43by proxy to really get what was going on in this house.
- 41:47Now today, clinicians call it factitious disorder imposed on
- 41:50another or FDIA. And it is widely considered one
- 41:54of the most difficult forms of child abuse to detect and also
- 41:57to prove or even to stop. So that's kind of why I want to
- 42:00explain it just so everybody knows.
- 42:02So like, maybe you actually spotted or notice it and you can
- 42:05even report it if you see it happening.
- 42:07I also want to mention something important to note is that Dee
- 42:10Dee Blanchard was never formally diagnosed.
- 42:13She never sat across from a psychiatrist and received that
- 42:16label, and now she never can. But experts who have studied
- 42:20this case say her behavior fits the profile with almost textbook
- 42:24precision. So we can.
- 42:25So the first thing I want to say is you cannot diagnose a dead
- 42:28woman and that doesn't mean that she did or did not have, you
- 42:32know, factitious disorder imposed upon another, but you
- 42:36can't diagnose the dead woman with anything.
- 42:39Secondly, or is that the way I say it anyway, it doesn't
- 42:42matter. The the other thing I would like
- 42:45to point out is like I said, we've had conversations with
- 42:50lots of people that haven't necessarily been broadcast to
- 42:53everybody. One of the conversations that we
- 42:56had, again, was with somebody that was close with DD at one
- 43:01point in time. And this particular individual
- 43:07has spoken to a lot of the experts that have spoken on the
- 43:11documentaries and who have commented on Munchausen by Proxy
- 43:15as it is referred to in the documentaries because it it
- 43:17switched. Oh, hey, Morbid.
- 43:22I promise, we're talking too much shit.
- 43:25Everything's good, Morbid. I don't agree with everything
- 43:28you say, but you're always super nice to me.
- 43:30So we're all good here. But anyway, so the person that
- 43:34I'm particularly thinking of, she had spoken to a lot of the
- 43:40experts that had participated in the documentaries and every
- 43:43single one of them, even though she fully believes everything
- 43:46that they say, they say that they didn't even really bother
- 43:49to look at any of the medical records because it just wasn't
- 43:53relevant because it was all BS. And I mean, I'm not a medical
- 43:59professional. I can't make any comments on.
- 44:03I can't make any comments on any of it.
- 44:04But I will say that it is really telling that they never even
- 44:10looked at any of them. That's weird.
- 44:13Yeah. Well, and you know, something
- 44:17you and I have talked about a lot and I think probably after
- 44:20we're done with the videos we'll go over is today I told the
- 44:24Laura I've been trying to get a hold of a copy of the DSM 5
- 44:29manual for the actual diagnostic criteria of MVP factitious
- 44:34disorder imposed on another because it's been updated.
- 44:39And the old definition and to a certain extent, in my opinion,
- 44:43the new one are they're so vague that it feels like any
- 44:48hypochondriac parent or someone just with, you know, medical
- 44:53anxiety or over helicoptery or scamming, you know, whatever
- 44:59could get diagnosed with MVP. And people believe and assume
- 45:05that being diagnosed with MVP means that you're medically
- 45:09abusing your child, like the people who've actually killed
- 45:12their kids by injecting fecal matter in their veins and stuff
- 45:16like that. Like those are the worst cases
- 45:20of MVP, not DD Blanchard. Now, whatever you look at the
- 45:26the definition of factitious disorder imposed on another,
- 45:30it's very obvious that the reason why most people think
- 45:33that it's just such an open and shut case is because Gypsy could
- 45:38walk. She didn't need the wheelchair.
- 45:40Now we know from the foyers that there's a pot.
- 45:42Gypsy claimed herself that she'd been lying to DD about the
- 45:46feeling in her legs. But then we also know that the
- 45:51doctors didn't find muscle atrophy in Gypsy's legs.
- 45:56So she had been walking behind closed doors.
- 46:00And she's always really, really just virulent about making sure
- 46:07that no one says that. There was a live stream that Ken
- 46:11was on, and Ken was saying, oh, yeah, like, Didi blacked out the
- 46:15windows, that nobody could see that Gypsy could walk.
- 46:18And inside, well, Gypsy freaked out how to fit.
- 46:22And she made Ken go live again to correct that.
- 46:25She's like, no, no, no, no. I had to use the wheelchair
- 46:28inside too, and even though it's so obvious to all of us,
- 46:33especially at the last, that there's no way that a wheelchair
- 46:37could have gotten around in there.
- 46:39Well, I think the reason why she does that is because of C here
- 46:45in the factitious disorder post on another criteria.
- 46:49C The criteria is the deceptive behavior is evident even in the
- 46:55absence of obvious external rewards.
- 46:59So she Dee Dee would fail on the C criteria if Gypsy doesn't
- 47:04maintain that. No, no, no, this this went on
- 47:08behind closed doors in the house too, even when we couldn't see.
- 47:12So anyway, that's that's my big old ramble on it.
- 47:14Thanks for pulling that up here. But yeah, I feel like her
- 47:17explanation of Munchausen by proxy leaves a lot out.
- 47:22And also another thing right here in criteria A at the top,
- 47:28it says falsification of physical or psychological signs
- 47:32or symptoms, which that's why most people are like, Oh yeah,
- 47:36obvious textbook Gypsy was in the wheelchair.
- 47:38She could walk. But then it says or induction of
- 47:42injury or disease. So the medical abuse can be a
- 47:48part of Munchausen by proxy, but it's not required for the
- 47:52diagnosis. And I think that's why so many
- 47:55people get so confused and they're just like, oh, well,
- 47:58it's obvious. The textbook case.
- 48:00Well, if you bring into context the possibility of child
- 48:04malingering, which, you know, a lot of people have suspected
- 48:07that Gypsy did and all these other things, and then also the
- 48:12very, very likely possibility that it did not go on behind
- 48:16closed doors. It was not evident with the
- 48:19absence of external rewards that it all starts falling apart a
- 48:24little bit, you know? Absolutely.
- 48:27I actually took this picture today right after I got off of
- 48:30work. I went to the library and I saw
- 48:33that they had the DSM 5. And so I just went and I'm like,
- 48:35OK, let me see if I can find this.
- 48:37And actually, the way that they organize this, clearly I'm not
- 48:42smart enough to be the kind of person to read the DSF 5, but
- 48:48the way they organize this is confusing as hell, even by like
- 48:51the numbers and like letters and stuff.
- 48:53Like I'd be on like F60 and I would keep going and keep going
- 48:57and I would never find F68, which is where it was supposed
- 49:00to be affected. So I had to go to the librarian
- 49:03and ask. Her for a little bit of help
- 49:04she. Helped me out a little bit.
- 49:06Would you mind, since you this is something that you're more
- 49:10something that you really think about and something that you
- 49:11wanted to talk about, would you mind just kind of reading out
- 49:14some of this stuff? And then in a second, before we
- 49:16get back to Chris's video, we can go ahead and put it up the
- 49:20definition of malingering that I also took a picture of today.
- 49:23Yeah. So Andy's here.
- 49:33It says falsification of physical symptoms or
- 49:35psychological signs and symptoms or induction of injury or
- 49:39disease in another associated with identified deception.
- 49:46There is nothing in the criteria that would indicate that if a
- 49:54child actually was sick, actually had, you know, for
- 49:58instance, let's say an undiscovered chromosome disorder
- 50:02that wasn't found until later. What to do in that case?
- 50:06Like it, It really seems clear to me that these would fail.
- 50:11But again, I'm just saying this is a layperson reading.
- 50:14I'm not anyway training this, but it seems like these will
- 50:18fail once it's known that Gypsy was really sick.
- 50:22Even if Gypsy was malingering, even if there was scammy
- 50:26behavior going on with the wheelchair to try and get more
- 50:30stuff from charity, it just really still seems to actually
- 50:35fail from this diagnosis. Once you know all the
- 50:38information, yeah. Then on the comorbidity or sorry
- 50:45on the malingering 1, you find that one.
- 50:56Sorry I sent you like 3 different screenshots when
- 50:59they're. Good, OK, it says.
- 51:02The essential feature of malingering is the intentional
- 51:05production of false or grossly exaggerated physical or
- 51:08psychological symptoms motivated by external incentives, such as
- 51:12avoiding military duty, avoiding work, obtaining financial
- 51:16compensation, evading criminal prosecution, or obtaining drugs.
- 51:20Under some circumstances, malingering may represent
- 51:23adaptive behavior, for example, feigning illness while captive
- 51:27of the enemy during wartime. Malingering should be strongly
- 51:31considered if any combination of the following is noted.
- 51:36Medical legal. I'm not probably pronouncing
- 51:40that right, but medical legal. Context of presentation.
- 51:44The individual is referred by an attorney or to the clinician for
- 51:48examination or the individual self refers while litigation or
- 51:52criminal charges are pending. Now somebody trying to get a
- 51:55diagnosis because they're trying to get a settlement, that's what
- 51:59they're saying there marked discrepancy between the
- 52:02individuals claimed stress or disability and the objective
- 52:06findings and observations which gypsies all over that lack of
- 52:12cooperation during the diagnostic evaluation and in
- 52:15complying with a prescribed treatment regimen.
- 52:20I don't. I can't really think of any
- 52:24noted instances of DD not complying with any treatment
- 52:28that they gave, treatment plan that they gave her Gypsy.
- 52:34Not to my knowledge, but I don't know all the intimate workings
- 52:37of the. Same as far as we know anyway.
- 52:43The presence of antisocial personality disorder, Well,
- 52:46that's a big question, you know, for we can't Dee Dee doesn't
- 52:51seem to have an antisocial personality disorder because of
- 52:54the way that she talked to all of her neighbors constantly.
- 52:58That consistent, upbeat. If it was, you know, some sort
- 53:05of fake put on due to a mental health disorder, it probably
- 53:10wasn't that one, I wouldn't think.
- 53:12But once again, I'm just a layperson reading stuff.
- 53:15But yeah, says malingering differs from factitious disorder
- 53:20and that the motivation for the symptom production is
- 53:23malingering in in malingering is an external incentive, whereas
- 53:29in factitious disorder external incentives are absent.
- 53:35Sorry, I can't lose my place there.
- 53:37Malingering is differentiated from functional functional
- 53:41neurological symptom disorder, conversion disorder, and other
- 53:46somatic symptom related mental disorders by the intentional
- 53:50production of symptoms and the obvious external incentives
- 53:54associated with it. Definite evidence of feigning,
- 53:59such as clear evidence that loss of function is present during
- 54:02the examination but not at home, would suggest a diagnosis of
- 54:06factitious disorder if the individual's apparent aim is to
- 54:11assume a sick role, or malingering if it is to obtain
- 54:16an incentive such as money. So if a person qualified to make
- 54:24a malingering versus factitious disorder imposed on it or
- 54:28factitious disorder on self. Either way, if a person
- 54:32qualified to make that diagnosis I think would have saw gypsies
- 54:37video where she says that she's been lying to her mom since 2011
- 54:45about the feeling in her legs because she was afraid her mom
- 54:48wouldn't love her so much. They I think they would
- 54:51definitely diagnose her with malinkering probably.
- 54:57Lingering definitely again, as somebody who knows nothing about
- 55:01any of this stuff, it, it seems to fit the the picture a little
- 55:05bit more. But like you said it, you know,
- 55:08I wish I had an old version of the DSM that had Munchausen by
- 55:12proxy in it. I'll do some research and see if
- 55:15I can get something in it. But we only thought about this
- 55:17like a couple of hours ago, you know what I mean?
- 55:21But you know, Munchausen by proxy seem to be pretty vast and
- 55:26wide, like you said. So I mean, it's possible that by
- 55:30the technical terms and the broadness of it that she could
- 55:36have very well been diagnosed or something like that.
- 55:39Yeah, the old the old criteria for Munchausen by Proxy was
- 55:44really screwed up. Like female used to be a part of
- 55:49the criteria. Fucked up, very misogynistic in
- 55:53my opinion. And hang on, there was a comment
- 55:57that made a good point I wanted to mention.
- 56:02Can't find it now if. You find it, let me know who
- 56:05posted it and I'll try and put it up on the screen.
- 56:07Sorry I haven't been paying as much attention to Chad this
- 56:09time. Yeah, no problem.
- 56:11But yeah, I can't find it. Oh well, there was something
- 56:14that was something I've been forgetting to say about
- 56:20malingering. Well.
- 56:26Shall we go back to the video? Yeah, and say, if you think of
- 56:28it, let me know. Let me go ahead and put this
- 56:30back on screen. And again, to anybody who's
- 56:32tuning in because I see what we got.
- 56:34I see we have gotten a few more viewers.
- 56:37We're just going over the Call Me Chris video, or at least what
- 56:41we can find on TikTok because it did get deleted.
- 56:45And we're just kind of going over it as best we can and just
- 56:48trying to clarify certain things.
- 56:49And again, we're not trying to pretend like we are the experts
- 56:52on every single thing that ever happened.
- 56:54There's his side, her side and the truth.
- 56:56Truth lies somewhere in the middle.
- 56:58But we're just doing our best to clarify.
- 56:59And we're not villainizing anybody, not even Gypsy, because
- 57:03I, I personally believe there are certain things that she's
- 57:06been a victim of. Maybe not the certain things
- 57:09that everyone accuses her of being a victim of, but I have a
- 57:13lot of thoughts. So let's just get on into it.
- 57:16Faithfully say she had it, but she never actually got
- 57:18diagnosed. So I just want to make that
- 57:19clear. As we walk through what FDIA is,
- 57:23keep her story in mind. But here's how it works.
- 57:26A caregiver, most often a mother, fabricates or
- 57:30exaggerates or even induces illness in someone under her
- 57:34care. And usually that is their child.
- 57:38And the goal typically isn't to kill the child.
- 57:41The child isn't even really the target.
- 57:43The child is more of a prop, and it's kind of like a means to an
- 57:47end. And the end is a role.
- 57:50The devoted caregiver at the center of a medical drama.
- 57:54The tireless mother at the bedside.
- 57:56The hero. Just disgusting behavior,
- 58:00basically. But regardless of it not often
- 58:02being about killing the child, it can often turn deadly.
- 58:06And children have died from unnecessary procedures, from
- 58:10medications they never needed, or from induced symptoms that
- 58:13spiraled out of control. So the abuser may not set out to
- 58:16kill, but intent doesn't limit the damage.
- 58:20And the profile of a typical FDIA perpetrator is strikingly
- 58:23consistent across documented cases.
- 58:26They often experienced illness or neglect in their own own
- 58:28childhood. Many were treated as the sick
- 58:31child themselves, which we know happened to DD, And they
- 58:34frequently have a background in medicine or caregiving, like
- 58:38nursing home health. The pattern is patterning here,
- 58:41and they often have enough training to speak the language
- 58:44and know the system. They are charming and
- 58:46persuasive, especially with medical professionals.
- 58:49And they are extraordinarily skilled at manufacturing the
- 58:51appearance of love. So just point by point, this is
- 58:56DD Blanchard, right? But what makes FDIA nearly
- 59:00impossible to catch is that the entire medical system is built
- 59:03to trust the person DD was pretending to, because doctors
- 59:08are trained to listen to the caregiver at the bedside, and a
- 59:12tearful, really knowledgeable mother isn't usually the first
- 59:15suspect. So FDIA perpetrators don't just
- 59:18exploit their children, they exploit that trust as well.
- 59:22And besides the obvious psychological rewards of having
- 59:26Munchausens by proxy or FDIA, there are practical rewards as
- 59:31well. Like a sick child generates
- 59:34sympathy, and sympathy often generates things like donations,
- 59:39like charity trips, like free housing, like community support.
- 59:43And for a woman with Dee Dee's history, the bad checks, the
- 59:46schemes and the lifelong talent for getting what she wanted, a
- 59:50chronically I'll daughter wasn't just an identity, it was now an
- 59:54income. So let's talk about her
- 59:57daughter, Gypsy Rose Blanchard. And income would point more
- 1:00:01towards malingering than Munchaus or, I'm sorry,
- 1:00:04factitious disorder imposed upon another, correct?
- 1:00:07Yeah, definitely. And does she even know about the
- 1:00:14chromosome deletion? So I think she makes, there's a
- 1:00:20point where she says something. I'll pause it when it gets to
- 1:00:25that point. However, I remember reading in
- 1:00:28her comments section that she said that she had kind of, she
- 1:00:32had kind of skipped over that part and forgot about it a
- 1:00:34little bit. But that might have a little bit
- 1:00:38more to do with things than she might realize.
- 1:00:40So what if we get to it? Then I'll go ahead and pause it.
- 1:00:45But I don't think this is the whole entire video.
- 1:00:49I could be wrong, but we'll see. We'll see.
- 1:00:52Now, by every meaningful measure, Gypsy was a healthy
- 1:00:55baby. But almost from the beginning,
- 1:00:57her mother was telling dogs. What is she talking about when
- 1:01:02she says by every meaningful measure, Gypsy was a healthy
- 1:01:06baby? Like she was born with a
- 1:01:08chromosome deletion with microcephaly and the sleep apnea
- 1:01:13thing was real. Like even her grandparents who
- 1:01:17hate Dee Dee, we're talking about the machine alarm going
- 1:01:21off because Gypsy would literally stop breathing.
- 1:01:23That's sleep apnea and they'd have to wake her up to get her
- 1:01:26breathing again. So anyway, had a little rant
- 1:01:29there. Like what is she saying?
- 1:01:31And you don't have to sleep with this Sorry my boyfriend.
- 1:01:37My boyfriend and I call it sleep app as like a joke.
- 1:01:40He he literally was just texting me about his earlier.
- 1:01:42But you don't have to sleep with AC pap in order to survive or
- 1:01:50live or whatever when you have sleep apnea.
- 1:01:53You know, again, like I said, I was talking to someone very
- 1:01:56close to told me that he tried to use his last night and he was
- 1:02:01struggling. And you know, he's had sleep
- 1:02:02apnea for Lord knows how long and he's only used to sleep
- 1:02:06sleep apnea machine like, yeah, a handful of times.
- 1:02:10So, you know, it's not like if she just doesn't use it, she's
- 1:02:14going to like automatically, you know, it's the end of her or
- 1:02:18anything. It's one of those really
- 1:02:19complicated things. You know, even my parents, both
- 1:02:22of them have sleep apnea. Neither one of them are using
- 1:02:25that that C pap machine. Never ever, ever.
- 1:02:29So but yeah, you're right, healthy baby, how do you know
- 1:02:33you still had microcephaly? You still had a chromosomal
- 1:02:37microdeletion that wouldn't be discovered or two years, you
- 1:02:42know, so. OK.
- 1:02:45Doctors otherwise, and it started really small.
- 1:02:48And that's kind of important to understand.
- 1:02:50It doesn't start with like she has cancer and then the doctors
- 1:02:52are able to prove that she doesn't have cancer and she's
- 1:02:54like, ah, that didn't work. It start, it starts small,
- 1:02:57right? And for her, it began with sleep
- 1:03:00apnea and a breathing monitor, an honest concern that any
- 1:03:04doctor would take seriously and none could easily disprove.
- 1:03:08And DD knew this. So when tests came back normal
- 1:03:12DD didn't stop and she found new doctors and figured out some new
- 1:03:16symptoms, victims to get them and had some new concerns.
- 1:03:20So small enough to be plausible and specific enough to demand
- 1:03:24attention. But again, if you don't know
- 1:03:29about a certain disorder that your child or even yourself has
- 1:03:33or have or whatever, you're going to do certain things in
- 1:03:36order to try and test to see if you have this problem or this
- 1:03:39problem or that problem. Yes and that just made me
- 1:03:43remember the comment I was trying to find earlier and I
- 1:03:46couldn't find it it was Marie Kell I believe said I've been
- 1:03:50reading a lot about people getting accused of MVP who have
- 1:03:54chronically I'll children and that's something me and you and
- 1:03:58your mom have went over on my channel several times before.
- 1:04:02There was a bunch of people, I believe in Seattle who tried to
- 1:04:05sue another one of these MVP experts because multiple
- 1:04:10families lost their entire livelihoods fighting false MVP
- 1:04:17accusations. Oh, you kind of timed out there.
- 1:04:25Are you glitched out for a second?
- 1:04:27Did you have something else to say after that?
- 1:04:28I'm sorry, I just heard about the OK, sorry, you just went OK,
- 1:04:33my bad. Anyway, I'm going to continue.
- 1:04:36And then it would grow. And by the time Gypsy was a
- 1:04:38toddler, Dee Dee was claiming her daughter had a chromosomal
- 1:04:42disorder. And then came the feeding
- 1:04:45difficulties. That's what I.
- 1:04:47That's what I was going to pinpoint.
- 1:04:48That's where she said it. Yeah, she.
- 1:04:51Does. She does have a chromosomal
- 1:04:52disorder though. Like even Rod says it in one of
- 1:04:55the documentaries. Like does.
- 1:04:57We don't even need the medical records to say that.
- 1:05:00Gypsy herself has said that if her and can have another baby
- 1:05:05they'll probably do IVF because they according to her if she's
- 1:05:09telling the truth, they got lucky that their current baby
- 1:05:12doesn't have didn't inherit the micro deletion.
- 1:05:15So I don't know why anyone would act like the chromosome disorder
- 1:05:21isn't real at this point, you know?
- 1:05:24And I pray to God that Aurora doesn't have the micro deletion
- 1:05:27right. I hope she doesn't have any kind
- 1:05:29of problems and Aurora does exist, y'all?
- 1:05:33Anyway. And seizures and epilepsy, Didi
- 1:05:37would say to them. Then muscular dystrophy, hearing
- 1:05:40impairment, vision problems, and eventually leukemia.
- 1:05:45And by age 8, Gypsies supposed medical file read like a
- 1:05:49pediatric Ward's entire caseload concentrated all in one small
- 1:05:55girl who was, again healthy. But she would even be placed in
- 1:05:58a wheelchair because Dede said she couldn't walk.
- 1:06:02And a feeding tube was inserted, and Dede said it was because she
- 1:06:05couldn't swallow. And a breathing machine was
- 1:06:07strapped to her face each night because Dede said she couldn't
- 1:06:10breathe in her sleep. And a battery of daily
- 1:06:12medications flowed through her system.
- 1:06:14Enough, one expert would later note, to level a healthy adult
- 1:06:19during those early years, I never actually went to school.
- 1:06:22I'm sorry, I was reading a comment whenever you said or
- 1:06:25whenever you said that. What?
- 1:06:26What was it that she just said? She said that there was enough
- 1:06:29medications flowing through her system, as one expert put it,
- 1:06:34daily to level a healthy adult. Never heard anyone say that.
- 1:06:40And the most we've heard about Gypsy getting medication she
- 1:06:45didn't need was her talking in her own memoir about stealing
- 1:06:49her mom's pain meds. Crushed him up and put him in
- 1:06:51her own feeding tube. Yeah.
- 1:06:55And you know, there's this famous picture that was taken by
- 1:06:58Christy of the medical cabinet and all of the crazy medications
- 1:07:03that are in there. When you zoom in, most of it
- 1:07:05seems to be over the counter expired.
- 1:07:07It could be stuff that's been hoarded because, you know, in
- 1:07:10Katrina, you're gonna talk to hoard those certain things just
- 1:07:12in case you're in an emergency. And five.
- 1:07:16Of the four or five of the big jugs in the bottom of that have
- 1:07:20poopy meds written on them in a Sharpie, it's Miralax.
- 1:07:24Yeah, Gypsy, how to request Miralax in prison sometimes.
- 1:07:29So yeah. I do recall hearing about that
- 1:07:33and it's like those. Poopy meds if y'all were to see.
- 1:07:36My parents medication cabinet even now that we've cleaned out
- 1:07:41a lot of it, or before it got cleaned out, or back when they
- 1:07:44were on all kinds of medication. Y'all.
- 1:07:48Y'all don't even know the shit my parents were on for years and
- 1:07:51years and years prescribed to them by their doctors and the
- 1:07:57endless stuff that they had that was just extra or expired or
- 1:08:01anything like that that they didn't even use on a daily
- 1:08:03basis. You know a family member of mine
- 1:08:06had a spouse that passed away a few years ago going to the house
- 1:08:11and they also had a disabled child that was living there as
- 1:08:14well. You would not believe the stuff
- 1:08:17that just gets sent to you. I mean, they must have had, I
- 1:08:23mean they must have had 100 packs of just even baby wipes,
- 1:08:28like, I mean, just everything they overload you with shit
- 1:08:32basically. So it's very, very interesting.
- 1:08:37I don't know that claim that she made about the, you know, to
- 1:08:41take out a, an adult or whatever.
- 1:08:42I I don't know how true that is. I don't.
- 1:08:45Remember, Yeah. And I'm sure that Dee Dee would
- 1:08:47have kept everything like what you're saying, you know, meds
- 1:08:50and other ways, because even though you know, they're,
- 1:08:54they're Section 8 apartment in Slidell, whenever Katrina hit,
- 1:08:59Dee Dee and Gypsy had already been evacuated to Covington, but
- 1:09:03they still lost everything. And that does cause trauma in a
- 1:09:08person's mind. And a lot of people, whether in
- 1:09:11small ways or big, after you go through a natural disaster like
- 1:09:15that, have little hoarding tendencies, especially with
- 1:09:19things like medication and food and stuff like that.
- 1:09:23Yeah, oops, sorry. I got a notification that
- 1:09:26Morbid's live too. We're not in the thumbnail,
- 1:09:28though, so it's all good. No, but yeah, yeah, The hoarding
- 1:09:36tendencies, you never know what you're going to have, what
- 1:09:40you're going to have access to. You want to make sure that you
- 1:09:42have it and make sure that you're good to go.
- 1:09:45Some of it's expired, some of it's not, is what it is.
- 1:09:50So anyway, I'm going to turn my screen off and run to the
- 1:09:53bathroom while you play this, but I'll be listening from in
- 1:09:56there so if I have comments. No worries, you're good.
- 1:09:59Let's go. Briefly she attended in
- 1:10:00Louisiana until about the second grade, and then Didi pulled her
- 1:10:04out, telling the district her daughter was just simply too
- 1:10:07sick to go to school. And from that point on, Gypsy's
- 1:10:10entire education happened at home.
- 1:10:12So she's just completely isolating Gypsy from the outside
- 1:10:16world so nobody could see her. Maybe be actually OK or like
- 1:10:21take note of anything because she couldn't risk that, you
- 1:10:24know, it's just really messed up.
- 1:10:26So it just removed teachers and school nurses and classmates and
- 1:10:30classmates parents, just an entire layer of people who see a
- 1:10:34child every single day gone. But from the outside, none of
- 1:10:38this looked like control. It just looked like devotion,
- 1:10:41like a mother that really cared about her small sick daughter
- 1:10:45sick, you know, quotation marks. So in 2003, a small Louisiana
- 1:10:49newspaper, the Slidell Century News, ran a feature on the pair.
- 1:10:53And the headline was Life takes many turns for good for little
- 1:10:57girl in Slidell. And the article told a very
- 1:11:00heartbreaking story. A mother and her sick daughter
- 1:11:04abandoned by their family after for the death of Dee Dee's
- 1:11:07mother, bouncing between homes twice, living out of their car,
- 1:11:11finally finding stability in public housing, embraced by a
- 1:11:15local church, not to mention a struggling single mom and her
- 1:11:18dying little girl. This story was just, you know,
- 1:11:22quote UN quote irresistible. And almost none of it was true,
- 1:11:26at least not the way Dee Dee told it.
- 1:11:28But it worked. It all.
- 1:11:30I was going. To say you never know.
- 1:11:33But yeah, I don't know. Anyway, I'm gonna keep going.
- 1:11:36Always worked for Dee Dee and a former neighbor later described
- 1:11:39never once questioning Gypsies conditions, because why would
- 1:11:43they? Dee Dee was always there at the
- 1:11:45hospital bedside explaining her daughter's complicated history
- 1:11:48to every new Doctor. And As for the doctors, some of
- 1:11:51them did notice inconsistencies because there were tests that
- 1:11:55did come back clean and symptoms that never appeared outside of
- 1:11:59Dee Dee's descriptions. But time and time again, they
- 1:12:02talked themselves out of it, because who would do this to
- 1:12:06their own child? It's completely messed up.
- 1:12:09So the harm done to Gypsy Rose Blanchard was by no means
- 1:12:13metaphorical. It wasn't just stolen time
- 1:12:17because it was years and years for life or a stolen childhood.
- 1:12:20It was surgical and physical, and it was permanent.
- 1:12:24Operations were performed on her body as a child.
- 1:12:28When? You know, I don't know all the
- 1:12:32medical stuff and I even have my doubts that Fancy was provided
- 1:12:36with all of the medical records. But from what we see, there's
- 1:12:40very minimal procedures that she even had done.
- 1:12:45Most of them were on her eyes and she had the feeding tube,
- 1:12:49which, you know, kind of goes along with the chromosomal
- 1:12:51microdeletion because of failure to thrive.
- 1:12:55There's a lot of oh, do you have any thoughts on she said
- 1:12:58something about like the countless medical procedures,
- 1:13:01but it doesn't seem like most of them, at least the ones that we
- 1:13:04can see from Fancy's medical records that she has seems like
- 1:13:08I. Don't know what she's talking
- 1:13:09about. That's one of the most blatant,
- 1:13:11obvious lies is Gypsy says that there was hundreds of
- 1:13:16unnecessary medical procedures and yet whenever we look at the
- 1:13:24diagram she made herself of her own scars, there's about 12 or
- 1:13:3013, which coincides with those records that Fancy put out.
- 1:13:35And we also know three or four of those were procedures on her
- 1:13:40eyes that if Dee Dee hadn't had done, Gypsy would be cross eyed
- 1:13:45from what we understand. From what I understand, yeah.
- 1:13:50And again, that's assuming that they even gave all the medical
- 1:13:54records to Fancy. But you would assume that they
- 1:13:58would have given the most damning ones to her, right?
- 1:14:01You would assume, yeah. So I don't know.
- 1:14:04And yeah, I just, I literally don't know what she is talking
- 1:14:09about here. Yeah, yeah, Dragon approved.
- 1:14:14I know she did it solely on mainstream media information and
- 1:14:18that it's taken down. It was a few days ago.
- 1:14:21But yeah, they're like some of the stuff that she's saying has
- 1:14:27been contradicted literally by Gypsy Rose herself in her memoir
- 1:14:33or, you know, in in later stuff. Which Gypsy has even stated
- 1:14:39herself that her memoir is a little incorrect.
- 1:14:43It's got some inaccuracies in there and it needs to be
- 1:14:45rewritten. And after she admitted all of
- 1:14:48that, she still accepted a nomination at Crime Con for Book
- 1:14:51of the Year for last year. So, and I have a lot of thoughts
- 1:14:57on Crime Con as of recently. I really do.
- 1:15:01I have a lot of thoughts on them and the people they bolster.
- 1:15:05I am kind of doing a deep dive on Chris Hansen.
- 1:15:07He can kiss my butt. He is not a good person at all.
- 1:15:12But she didn't need them because her mother said she did, and it
- 1:15:15would start with Gypsy's mouth. Now Dee Dee had two of Gypsy's
- 1:15:20salivary glands surgically removed.
- 1:15:23Now these are the glands that produce.
- 1:15:24They're removed or reduced. I don't know, but at least she
- 1:15:32said two there because Gypsy always says I don't have any
- 1:15:36salivary glands, which isn't true.
- 1:15:39I think there was a first DD had them injected with Botox trying
- 1:15:46to reduce the drilling. And that's kind of funny because
- 1:15:52considering Gypsy's current announcement that she is going
- 1:15:56to have Glotox done, the Botox injections that DD had done to
- 1:16:02try and stop her drilling, Gypsy said in one of her prison emails
- 1:16:10to a guy claiming it was from Brazil.
- 1:16:12She said, I've had a Brazilian Botox facelift.
- 1:16:17She tried to claim the Botox injections just drop her
- 1:16:21drooling as like a cosmetics procedure.
- 1:16:25Yeah. But yeah, there's, I don't know
- 1:16:28so much that she's saying here. It's like even if you just took
- 1:16:31mainstream information, like is she even, did she look at the
- 1:16:36things that Gypsy has said about this stuff even cause like so
- 1:16:39much is contradicted. And again, I'm not, I'm not
- 1:16:42dogging. Call me Chris here.
- 1:16:45It's very easy in a case that's this deep and layered,
- 1:16:49especially as deep as all of us have went into the details.
- 1:16:52It's very easy to miss so much stuff.
- 1:16:54But oh for sure. Saliva and that help protect
- 1:16:59your teeth and help you chew and help you swallow and guard your
- 1:17:02mouth against affection. And DD told doctors Gypsy
- 1:17:05drooled excessively so the glands came out and then.
- 1:17:10One more thing I do want to say real quick about the drooling.
- 1:17:13So something that I feel like I've heard Gypsy say before was
- 1:17:18the Ora gel about how like DD would put Ora gel in her mouth
- 1:17:21and make her drool. I haven't used ore gel in a
- 1:17:25minute, but especially when I lived down in Florida, I used to
- 1:17:27get canker sores all the time. I almost feel like it's
- 1:17:29something in the water. I don't know used to get canker
- 1:17:32sores once a week at least. And so I was a chronic user of
- 1:17:35ore gel and never did it really make me drool.
- 1:17:38And even the other day I got a bunch of surgery done.
- 1:17:42I got my wisdom teeth removed maybe a month or two ago, didn't
- 1:17:47really have a drooling problem, had a lot of other problems.
- 1:17:49Didn't really have a drooling problem.
- 1:17:51I the other day, like a week ago, got two different feelings
- 1:17:56and they really numbed up, you know, the right side of my
- 1:17:58mouth. I wasn't drooling though, you
- 1:18:02know. I could talk, couldn't feel my
- 1:18:06face, couldn't feel anything. But I still wasn't.
- 1:18:09Drooling. So I feel like, how do you force
- 1:18:13somebody to drool? I feel like Ora Joel does not do
- 1:18:16that. Yeah, well, and even with the
- 1:18:23the records that Fancy has put out, didn't they show Gypsy
- 1:18:28having like swallow tests and stuff like that for these things
- 1:18:32like there was? Oh, I believe I haven't looked
- 1:18:36at them too much. Person.
- 1:18:37Yeah, I don't know. I just, I feel like because
- 1:18:41they're out there and Christy, even though they went out there
- 1:18:45the way that they went out there, but they went out there
- 1:18:48directly from Christy and Gypsy's hand through fancy.
- 1:18:53I feel like for anyone to say, if they're going to definitively
- 1:18:58say, oh, the doctors just did everything just because Dee Dee
- 1:19:02was so southern and charming. I feel like they need to take a
- 1:19:06look at those before saying that conclusively and definitively.
- 1:19:10Like, if you're going to say that narrative, I feel like you
- 1:19:13need to look at those first and try to understand what's
- 1:19:16happening because I'm not going to pretend that I understand
- 1:19:18them perfectly. I'm not medically trained, but
- 1:19:21still, you can see on these tests whether they're saying
- 1:19:24that these things are positive or negative and what their
- 1:19:26further recommendation is. So yeah.
- 1:19:31And it wasn't just, well, mother says so like tests come back,
- 1:19:37you know, positive or negative, conclusive, inconclusive
- 1:19:40recommendations are made or not made based on those tests.
- 1:19:42So anyway, no I it's my little rant there.
- 1:19:47No, I totally get what you're saying.
- 1:19:48And then also insurance doesn't pay out for anything unless they
- 1:19:52absolutely have to. It's absolutely necessary.
- 1:19:55You know, when I got my wisdom teeth removed a couple months
- 1:19:58ago, they did not. They did not put me out.
- 1:20:04I was awake for it. And they were not going to give
- 1:20:07me laughing gas or anything until I started crying on the
- 1:20:10table and having a panic attack because they weren't going to
- 1:20:12give me anything. And then he started accusing me
- 1:20:14of just wanting to get high. And that's not what it was.
- 1:20:17It's just I need something to turn the edge off because I'm
- 1:20:19sorry you're removing 6 teeth because I had to get two extra
- 1:20:21teeth, 6 teeth from my freaking mouth.
- 1:20:23Of course I'm going to freak out a little bit.
- 1:20:25But anyway, I had to pay for the laughing gas, I had to pay for
- 1:20:32100% of laughing gas and I had to pay for a lot of the
- 1:20:34procedure. I ended up paying 400 something
- 1:20:36dollars for this procedure and I have insurance, you know.
- 1:20:42Yeah. Insurance doesn't pay for things
- 1:20:44unless you absolutely need them. Doctors do not do anything for
- 1:20:48you unless you absolutely need to have these things done most
- 1:20:52of the time. And there was never any lawsuits
- 1:20:55there, you know? There's a reason, in my opinion.
- 1:21:01There's obviously a reason why Gypsy Rose and Christy have said
- 1:21:07that they've tried several times to get an attorney to take on
- 1:21:11the case so they could sue some of these doctors and absolutely
- 1:21:15no attorney will touch it. I'm sure they bring them the
- 1:21:17medical records. Why won't they touch it if it
- 1:21:21was what they're saying here? I feel like any attorney would
- 1:21:24jump on that there. There would be good money in
- 1:21:26that if they did all these procedures, even if it's just
- 1:21:30the 13, not the hundreds that Gypsy and Melissa Moore tried to
- 1:21:33say they actually did all them just because Dee Dee was so
- 1:21:37charming. Some attorney would take that
- 1:21:39case. Didn't Mike Stanfield have a
- 1:21:43history of doing some kind of medical malpractice lawsuits?
- 1:21:46I don't know. I feel like I recall that.
- 1:21:48Don't quote me on that 100%, but you know, he's kind of MIAI
- 1:21:52don't really think he's. I.
- 1:21:54Think there might have been a falling out?
- 1:21:55I don't know. So anyway, but you know, to
- 1:22:01those who don't know, I've met Mike Stanfield.
- 1:22:04That was an interesting scenario.
- 1:22:06I mean, it wasn't like hi, hello, how are you or anything.
- 1:22:09It was very interesting. And the judge was like, what do
- 1:22:15you want me to do your job for you?
- 1:22:16So that's kind of how that went so.
- 1:22:18Yeah, when Mike filed Gypsy's lawsuit in the wrong
- 1:22:22jurisdiction because I guess he just thought Missouri would be
- 1:22:27starstruck to have something Gypsy Rose come back there.
- 1:22:30No, no, I don't want anything to do with her.
- 1:22:34No. And as someone who lives in a
- 1:22:37pretty prominent part of Missouri, there's people that
- 1:22:41are involved in the Gypsy Rose case that live in my town.
- 1:22:46A few of them actually. And nobody cares.
- 1:22:50Nobody gives 2 shits, not even a little bit.
- 1:22:52I talk to people and they're like, oh, that's cool, Laura.
- 1:22:58Anyway, the other day I don't. Even talk about Gypsy that much,
- 1:23:02I just talk about like if I'm doing something like specific
- 1:23:06and it's like worth noting and it's interesting.
- 1:23:09And my friend the other day was like, oh, it's Gypsy again.
- 1:23:11I was like no, no, no, no, no, not even a little bit.
- 1:23:16So anyway, we have not yet gotten through this first clip.
- 1:23:19Oh my God, we got to stop talking.
- 1:23:24And as Gypsy grew older, her teeth began to rot and decay, a
- 1:23:28predictable consequence of the surgeries and the medication and
- 1:23:31the neglect of a mouth that could no longer protect itself.
- 1:23:34And Dee Dee's explanation to the world was that it's the
- 1:23:37medication and it's her condition.
- 1:23:39And so her teeth were extracted. So she was a teenager losing
- 1:23:43damn near all her teeth. And then for Dee Dee, you know,
- 1:23:46every tooth that was pulled, it just made her look even more
- 1:23:49sick. So it was just better for Dee
- 1:23:51Dee. And not to mention, Gypsy was
- 1:23:53given power drugs daily for years, seizure medications,
- 1:23:57breathing treatments, drugs for conditions she never had.
- 1:24:01And medical experts would later describe this as its own form of
- 1:24:05torture. Because when you give a healthy
- 1:24:07child medication she doesn't need, her body will respond and
- 1:24:10it develops side effects like dependencies, real weakness and
- 1:24:15actual real deterioration. And the weakness becomes proof
- 1:24:20of the illness. So it's just all working against
- 1:24:22a Gypsy and, you know, she doesn't know any better.
- 1:24:25She's under the guise that her mom is taking care of her and
- 1:24:27that she actually is sick. And she probably feels really,
- 1:24:31really bad because she's being given this medication that makes
- 1:24:34her feel like shit. It's just, it's horrible, it's
- 1:24:38just the self perpetuating system in that the sicker the
- 1:24:41treatments made her, the sicker she appeared and felt and the
- 1:24:45sicker she appeared, the more treatments she would receive.
- 1:24:48And it's just this endless cycle.
- 1:24:50So not only did Gypsy feel awful and was being giving medication.
- 1:24:57Oh, is that all? Oh, that's all.
- 1:24:59OK, that's all from that clip. Was there anything?
- 1:25:03She's under the impression that Gypsy was severely drugged every
- 1:25:11single day of her childhood. And yeah, like, these strong
- 1:25:17medications every day going through through her body,
- 1:25:21through veins. Like, I don't know what she's
- 1:25:25talking about, you know? Yeah.
- 1:25:29We don't have real evidence of that like.
- 1:25:33For sure, for sure. OK, I'm going to play the next
- 1:25:38clip. Let's see.
- 1:25:40Needed surgery. She didn't need.
- 1:25:41Dee Dee also needed her to really look like she was sick.
- 1:25:46So Dee Dee would regularly shave Gypsy's scalp.
- 1:25:50And the explanation. Which it is interesting that
- 1:25:52Gypsy still cuts her hair but and in prison they say that she
- 1:25:57was just kind of taking the Clippers to her hair.
- 1:25:59Like toenail Clippers, y'all, just like, you know, I get it,
- 1:26:04girl. Like, you know, go through a
- 1:26:06breakup or something. You're really pissed off.
- 1:26:08You want to change your hair. Yeah, that's that's a, you know,
- 1:26:11that's a right of girlhood. OK, but I don't.
- 1:26:14Know that was one of the absolute creepiest things to me
- 1:26:17when out of prison, fully free on her own, she all of a sudden
- 1:26:21started clipping her hair and putting on wigs again.
- 1:26:25Not that wigs are bad, we all know I like wigs.
- 1:26:28But like, that was supposed to be part of her abuse, and turns
- 1:26:37out that's just the thing she likes to do.
- 1:26:40Yeah. Oh, it's your breath stinks.
- 1:26:42Holy moly. Smells like sardines.
- 1:26:44But yeah, I mean, that's definitely what it seems like.
- 1:26:48OK, let's see. She gave her daughter was, you
- 1:26:52know, almost gentle, and she would say your cancer medicine
- 1:26:55will make your hair fall out anyway, so I better do this
- 1:26:59regardless. But she did it because the
- 1:27:02shaved head was the single most visible symbol of Gypsies
- 1:27:06supposed illness. No one looks at a little girl in
- 1:27:09a wheelchair with a bare scalp and asks questions.
- 1:27:13So on top of the physical abuse, the medications and the
- 1:27:16surgeries and you know, even shaving her head and everything,
- 1:27:20that obviously has a, a major impact on a child.
- 1:27:25But I mean, the psychological impact, I can't even imagine.
- 1:27:29At least you can get yourself back into good health after
- 1:27:32that. But psychologically, that has to
- 1:27:34mess you up so bad because the mind is slower to heal from a
- 1:27:39lifetime of being told by the person you love most, the person
- 1:27:43the world calls a St. at this point, that you are not what you
- 1:27:47actually are. Starting with the most basic
- 1:27:50fact a person can know about themselves.
- 1:27:53And that is how old they are. Because Gypsy didn't know.
- 1:27:57Because. OK, so that's nothing.
- 1:27:59You're gonna have fun. So first and foremost, whenever
- 1:28:06Gypsy was arrested and it was in the interrogation footage, she
- 1:28:10was lying about her age and lying not mistaken because on
- 1:28:15her Medicaid card, I believe it has her real date of birth.
- 1:28:19It has all that stuff on it. She also when she went to visit
- 1:28:27Dan. Dan.
- 1:28:30Sorry, Dan. Gladwell.
- 1:28:32Dan Gladwell, there's too many people, OK?
- 1:28:34There's too many people, OK. When she went to go visit Dan,
- 1:28:37she had some of her identification, which also had
- 1:28:40her real age on it. And also, I'm sorry, when I was
- 1:28:432 years old, if you told me that I was one, I would have
- 1:28:47corrected to you and been like, no, I am 2 years old and three
- 1:28:52months and two days or you know, like however much you know, I
- 1:28:55knew how old I was. So the only way you could get
- 1:29:00somebody to not know how old they are is if they are mentally
- 1:29:05impaired in my personal opinion. Yeah, and we also know from the
- 1:29:09FOIA video, she knew how old she was.
- 1:29:12She lied to Nick initially about how old she was.
- 1:29:15She made herself 18. And then she started admitting
- 1:29:19eventually, well, this personality is this age.
- 1:29:22This one is this age. Once a little girl, my real age
- 1:29:26is, you know, 2223. Yeah, no, totally.
- 1:29:30You know, Dragon, Approve said. Try to tell a 10 year old
- 1:29:33they're 7, they will get ya. And you know, Dee Dee was
- 1:29:37raising Gypsy to be smart from what I can see.
- 1:29:41Like there's that famous clip of her being like a literal infant.
- 1:29:45She's like, OK, show them your phalanges and your cranium.
- 1:29:48And those are words that I know, but like, I have to think about
- 1:29:52it to know those words. You know what I mean?
- 1:29:54Like they're not just words that you think of automatically.
- 1:29:58So she knew what was up. I don't think that Dee Dee was
- 1:30:02not educating her in any way. And I don't know if this is
- 1:30:07something that's brought up in this video.
- 1:30:08I can't remember. I saw it.
- 1:30:10It's been a minute or not. It's been a minute.
- 1:30:12But it anyway it doesn't matter. But Gypsy was in school at some
- 1:30:20point in time. Correct.
- 1:30:24Yeah, very early on. I don't think it was like, you
- 1:30:27know, she was in middle school, in high school or anything like
- 1:30:29that, Like she never got put in any.
- 1:30:31Sort of school. Yeah, in Louisiana, very early
- 1:30:35on. She was in school for a little
- 1:30:36bit, I think it was. I think she might have went to a
- 1:30:40private. 2nd grade perhaps? Catholic school, I don't know, I
- 1:30:44can't remember. Yeah.
- 1:30:46And Maria's only hen says that she read Harry Potter, which is
- 1:30:50true. And Harry Potter is a, it's a
- 1:30:53big book, you know, And I'd always say that if she knew what
- 1:30:56her cranium and phalanges were, she was probably ahead of the
- 1:30:59other, you know, 567 year olds. Gypsy claims she taught herself
- 1:31:03how to read by reading Harry Potter.
- 1:31:05I don't believe that for a second, no.
- 1:31:08I'd be very hard. I taught myself how to read kind
- 1:31:12of kind of, I don't know. I remember I went to it was like
- 1:31:17Bob's Carpet Mart or Bob's carpet something or another.
- 1:31:22Anyway, I went in there and I looked at the floor and I saw
- 1:31:26the big Bob thing and I was like not even a year old and I was
- 1:31:29like Bob, does Bob the Tomato live here?
- 1:31:31And my parents are like what? Bob the Tomato from Veggietales,
- 1:31:35y'all? I don't care if you look at my
- 1:31:37repost on TikTok, I would say like at least every like third
- 1:31:44repost. Something about veggie tales
- 1:31:46that I keep saying. People keep making these veggie
- 1:31:48tales memes anyway. Very kelp my veggie tales
- 1:31:53mentioned that is still I love veggie tales I have
- 1:31:57deconstructed but Veggie tales is my shit.
- 1:32:02See my my TikTok cringe that I get, you know, is that I love
- 1:32:09our 80s NASCAR clips of Dale Earnhardt senior.
- 1:32:15Oh, really? That's I'm a redneck.
- 1:32:17I am a big O hillbilly. Yeah, I love NASCAR.
- 1:32:20I love that for you. We have something fine by
- 1:32:24someone from NASCAR at my job. So anyway, OK, I'm going to keep
- 1:32:30oh oh, at my church, all the counselors are dressed as Veggie
- 1:32:33Tales characters. You know, something I've been
- 1:32:35saying recently is people have been doing Veggietales drag
- 1:32:40shows. Oh my God, that's hilarious.
- 1:32:42That is like my have you, have you seen?
- 1:32:46I mean, I'm sure you know what it is, but have you ever seen
- 1:32:48Veggietales? No, I've never watched it.
- 1:32:50OK, cuz I know that would have been like a little bit after
- 1:32:52your time and I know you probably weren't watching a lot
- 1:32:54of TV as a kid anyway, but yeah, no.
- 1:32:57TV allowed No. TV allowed, but yeah, man, I'll
- 1:33:01tell you, Veggietales is my shit.
- 1:33:03And I even think that the creator of that kind of
- 1:33:06deconstructed as well, Barbara Manatee.
- 1:33:09Yes, sorry. Anyway, I had to go off with a
- 1:33:11little Veggie Tales tangent. I'm a really easy person.
- 1:33:14If you want to get me something and just get me something,
- 1:33:16Veggie Tales, get me something ET or get me something health
- 1:33:20related or give me something with tasteful nudity.
- 1:33:23Tasteful, tasteful. And then you got me.
- 1:33:25I'm pretty easy to buy for SO. Anyway, Laura has one of my
- 1:33:30paintings hanging up that has a lot of tasteful beauty in it.
- 1:33:33I do. It's the, the, the.
- 1:33:36No. I know what it is.
- 1:33:38Perpetual. No indulgence.
- 1:33:41Perpetual indulgence. What?
- 1:33:43What is it called again? It is a portrait of a very small
- 1:33:48piece, A Study of the Garden of Earthly Delights by Hieronymus
- 1:33:52Bosch. That's what it was.
- 1:33:54I don't know what I was thinking of here.
- 1:33:56Yes. You were thinking of me telling
- 1:33:58you about whenever I met these Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence
- 1:34:02drag queen troupe when I was in California.
- 1:34:05OK, yeah, cuz I've, I've met the sisters.
- 1:34:08That's what I'm thinking of. OK, yeah, we're and everything.
- 1:34:12I've met the sister. I remember I saw them at Pride
- 1:34:14last year and I was like, Oh my God.
- 1:34:17They're like. Thanks.
- 1:34:19And I'm like oh every. Time I commit.
- 1:34:22A pride. I try to make friends and it
- 1:34:24just doesn't. Work out anyway.
- 1:34:26That's besides the point. We're not going to talk about my
- 1:34:28problems, so I'm going to press play again, y'all?
- 1:34:30DD kept falsified birth certificates, just documents,
- 1:34:34shaving years off her daughter's real age.
- 1:34:37And as Gypsy grew, the number, DD told the world simply stopped
- 1:34:41keeping pace with reality. Which is crazy.
- 1:34:45And the number she told Gypsy wasn't much better because since
- 1:34:49she's been force feeding her daughter medications after
- 1:34:51medications and not eating properly, eating out of a
- 1:34:55feeding tube that was surgically placed into her stomach.
- 1:34:58She was a pretty frail little girl, so it made it more
- 1:35:01believable that she was younger than what she actually was.
- 1:35:05And not to mention Dee Dee also said that Gypsy just had the
- 1:35:09mind of a 7 year old. And that single lie, explains
- 1:35:13the childlike voice Gypsy was encouraged to use.
- 1:35:17And it kind of excused her from every adult conversation.
- 1:35:21She was encouraged to use a childlike voice.
- 1:35:23What's she doing now? Right.
- 1:35:26And Gypsy claimed in her memoir that the whole reason why that
- 1:35:34she had to have Dee Dee taken out was because Dee Dee wanted
- 1:35:38exploratory Dee done on her voice to explain that voice,
- 1:35:46that high, chirpy voice. And and Gypsy was like, no, I
- 1:35:49like my voice. So like the her stuff that she's
- 1:35:54saying in her conclusions even go against what Gypsy herself
- 1:35:58says would happen Like and and it's and it's pro Gypsy, but
- 1:36:02like it it doesn't line up with hardly anything.
- 1:36:07And I really like this girl too. I feel like she tried her best
- 1:36:10here. This is just a very layered,
- 1:36:13nuanced case. It's it's not an onion, it's
- 1:36:16like a cluster of onions. Oh for sure, right here, Cosmic
- 1:36:20W 17 said. What's the point of doing this
- 1:36:22if she knew she had the wrong info and took it down?
- 1:36:25I don't think she knew she had the wrong info.
- 1:36:27I don't think she did this. Oh, she means what's the point
- 1:36:31of us reacting to her if she knew she had the wrong info and
- 1:36:34took it down? We want to help her.
- 1:36:37We want to. We hope that she sees this and
- 1:36:39that she'll see like our extra information and corrections.
- 1:36:43We're not doing this just to dog her out or anything for being
- 1:36:46wrong. We we hope that like she'll find
- 1:36:49the information useful. Yeah, and I don't the only there
- 1:36:56are only two criticisms that I have period about all of this.
- 1:37:00If you just look at it, look at it from her perspective and not
- 1:37:04of the perspective of someone who's been looking at this shit
- 1:37:07for two years straight. You know, one would be like,
- 1:37:11yeah, kind of what is the point of this video?
- 1:37:14Because I feel like she kind of goes over pretty much everything
- 1:37:18that everybody else has. So I don't think there's
- 1:37:20anything, well, I think she did it really well.
- 1:37:22I don't think there's anything particularly remarkable about
- 1:37:25the information she presents. But also too would be the FOIA
- 1:37:29videos went really freaking viral.
- 1:37:32And it's like, how did she do all this research on Gypsy and
- 1:37:35she didn't come across any of it?
- 1:37:39I bet she, honestly, I bet she just has a team that does it and
- 1:37:43presents it. She kind of does some skimming
- 1:37:45and verification and, you know, if she verified all this stuff
- 1:37:48by checking mainstream media sources after she got it from
- 1:37:51her team, it probably seemed pretty correct.
- 1:37:54But yeah, we we don't have a problem with Call Me Chris.
- 1:37:59We're just trying to help her out with her information.
- 1:38:02No, she seems like a really nice person.
- 1:38:03I've known who she was for probably since about the
- 1:38:06pandemic or whatever. And I'm not like a super like
- 1:38:11avid viewer of hers or anything. I've seen things here and there,
- 1:38:14but my mom's a pretty pretty good fan of her.
- 1:38:17She she really enjoys her content a lot.
- 1:38:19So I've never heard of her or come across her stuff, but I
- 1:38:22have. I didn't realize she was married
- 1:38:24to Oompaville because I do see Oompaville's documentary
- 1:38:27sometimes. It covers things I'm interested
- 1:38:29in. Yeah, I quite like Oompaville,
- 1:38:31Somebody I used to work with that I'm not like super close
- 1:38:33to. But occasionally we'll send each
- 1:38:35other memes. I'm like, you wouldn't believe I
- 1:38:37was like, Oompaville's wife commented.
- 1:38:40Or she did this whole thing anyway.
- 1:38:43Yeah, no, Matt, props to her though.
- 1:38:46She's she does good. The videos are good.
- 1:38:50This video is well produced. It's well written.
- 1:38:55I am a little curious as to how some of these things weren't
- 1:38:58seen by somebody, even if it was her team or were ignored or
- 1:39:03maybe they were just trying to. I don't even think it was paint
- 1:39:05a narrative, but it's like there's a lot of crazy
- 1:39:08conspiracies about a lot of different cases and nobody ever
- 1:39:13wants to question a victim. And I don't, I don't want to
- 1:39:15question a victim. And like I said before, there's
- 1:39:17certain things that I think Gypsy might have been a victim
- 1:39:20of. Do I think that her mom was
- 1:39:24doing all the things that she says?
- 1:39:27Not really, no. Well, I think a point I've made
- 1:39:31so often, and I'll just go ahead and make again real quick since
- 1:39:34we might have new viewers in here, since we're talking about
- 1:39:38a big channel, a point I've made really often is in Southwest
- 1:39:42Missouri, where Gypsy and Dee Dee were.
- 1:39:45That's where I'm from, where I was born and raised, where my
- 1:39:47family is. There are a lot of very, very
- 1:39:54conservative cloistered cults in southwest Missouri.
- 1:39:59There are, and some of them are classified as religions, not
- 1:40:03cults. I'm not trying to be rude here.
- 1:40:06But some of them, like we have a very large Amish and Mennonite
- 1:40:11community. Those children grow up dressing
- 1:40:16like Laura Ingalls Welder. They have to go to Amish
- 1:40:19schools. They're not allowed media and
- 1:40:22stuff like that. And a lot of the things that
- 1:40:26they're deprived of have a crossover to what Gypsy was
- 1:40:30deprived of. She wasn't allowed to go to
- 1:40:33school, she wasn't allowed to dress just exactly however she
- 1:40:38wanted and things like that. And none of those kids are
- 1:40:43killing their parents. No, I ran into a little Amish
- 1:40:48boy today. I didn't realize he's a little
- 1:40:50Amish boy, but he was just crawling and like, I just saw.
- 1:40:52And I was like, oh, where are your parents?
- 1:40:55And I was like, oh, and then all of a sudden they snatched him
- 1:40:58up. I was like, man, I thought we
- 1:40:59had a runner over here. Yeah, and, you know, I've
- 1:41:03shared, too. It wasn't the Amish community,
- 1:41:05but I was also raised in a, you know, a very conservative,
- 1:41:09cloistered environment. I had to dress like Laura
- 1:41:11Ingalls Wilder, grown up. I was homeschooled after second
- 1:41:14grade and all that, and I ran off from home at 17.
- 1:41:18I couldn't take it anymore. It was too much.
- 1:41:20It was too hard, too black, and I just wanted to be normal.
- 1:41:25So whenever, you know, Gypsy's defenders like Bree and people
- 1:41:29like that say things like, listen, Gypsy did it 'cause she
- 1:41:33wanted to be normal, she wanted to be a normal girl.
- 1:41:36I understand that desire deeply, but you just don't get to do
- 1:41:40murder for that. You believe and do it the proper
- 1:41:43ways. So whenever, you know, I hear
- 1:41:46this lady and other people who are brand new to the story, they
- 1:41:50start talking about, oh, you know, she had a dress this way
- 1:41:55and she wasn't allowed this in isolation and no friends and
- 1:41:59stuff. It's like that's a lot of kids
- 1:42:01in southwest Missouri for a lot of different reasons.
- 1:42:04Nobody is excusing would excuse them killing their parents about
- 1:42:09it, you know. I would totally agree.
- 1:42:14I would totally agree. And whenever we went to Crime
- 1:42:18Con in 2025 in Denver, I talked to Mike King.
- 1:42:24Mike King is one of the detectives that helped take down
- 1:42:29Warren Jeffs, the FLDS fundamentalist Latter Day Saints
- 1:42:34polygamist group that was marrying 40 and 50.
- 1:42:40Eleven 1213 year old girls to 80 year old men.
- 1:42:43Like just tons of them and all this stuff, child marriage and
- 1:42:46crazy. And I asked Mike King, I was
- 1:42:50like, is there any documented incident of any FLDS child
- 1:42:56murdering their parents to get away?
- 1:42:58And he said no, I don't know of a single one.
- 1:43:03Yeah, if the FLDS or the LDS or anything cult related is
- 1:43:08something that you might be interested in, we have a few
- 1:43:10different interviews, one even from a couple weeks ago from
- 1:43:14someone who goes by Culty Steph. She's somebody who has been
- 1:43:17involved in the chip first. I'm not going to expose her name
- 1:43:19on here, not because it's a secret, but because she said
- 1:43:21she's a little embarrassed of of it or whatever.
- 1:43:25But somebody you guys are probably, some of you guys are
- 1:43:28probably interacted with and what not.
- 1:43:29But she talks a little bit about that.
- 1:43:31And she also did a interview with Jade and Jeff's about a
- 1:43:35couple months ago. Who is Warren Jeff's son or at
- 1:43:37least one of Warren Jeff's sons. But yeah, like you said, it's
- 1:43:43very interesting. There's nobody else who's an MVP
- 1:43:47survivor or somebody who's from the FLDS or any of these other
- 1:43:52niche groups that have really done the same thing.
- 1:43:57And one of the people that Gypsy really latched on to in prison
- 1:44:00was Amelia Byrd, somebody who did.
- 1:44:05A very similar crime, and whenever Gypsy got out of prison
- 1:44:08and started advocating her advocacy for MVP was basically
- 1:44:14her awkwardly reading off a Wikipedia definition of it and
- 1:44:20being like if you see something say something kind of thing.
- 1:44:23The only advocacy she ever attempted to do where it seemed
- 1:44:27like she really gave a shit and was actually energetically into
- 1:44:32it and cared was when she advocated to get Amelia Byrd out
- 1:44:35of prison for the exact same crime.
- 1:44:39Which advocated like once or twice for Amelia, then never
- 1:44:43brought it up again. From what I from what I
- 1:44:45understand, I don't believe that they're on good terms at the
- 1:44:48moment. Oh really?
- 1:44:50I heard they were a few months ago but have they fell out
- 1:44:53again? Maybe they just had a falling
- 1:44:56out a few a while ago and maybe they got back together.
- 1:44:59I don't know. I'm not going to pretend like
- 1:45:01I'm up to date on all of the drama because I really am not.
- 1:45:06But I know at least at one point they're kind of having issues.
- 1:45:09And that Amelia's girlfriend at the time was it Zora?
- 1:45:15Zara, she said that Amelia kind of accused Gypsy of stealing
- 1:45:21parts of her story. I remember that.
- 1:45:25And I don't recall what parts it was, but that's just what was
- 1:45:31said. Yeah.
- 1:45:34Yeah, so with this video, when I moved my mouse pad, it
- 1:45:38accidentally switched I think maybe to another video.
- 1:45:43So it might be cutting things out.
- 1:45:46OK, maybe I should. Go back real quick.
- 1:45:48Needed surgery she didn't need. As it's 9 minutes, I'm going to
- 1:45:52go to about right here and see what it says.
- 1:45:57It's monitored and the Internet, when it existed at the house at
- 1:46:01all, was completely supervised, so the.
- 1:46:04Which I already was saying was completely supervised.
- 1:46:07Hold on, I'm going to have a little bit and let her say that
- 1:46:10and then I'll because I have some thoughts about that.
- 1:46:12Let her say that with the cool chest, OK?
- 1:46:15Yeah, and again, we're not making fun of Chris, you know?
- 1:46:17No, we're not. We're we're totally cool with
- 1:46:20Chris. It's just, yeah, some of the
- 1:46:22information is a little bit Girl, come on, like simply.
- 1:46:26Stopped keeping. For sure.
- 1:46:28In pace with reality, which is crazy.
- 1:46:31And the number she told Gypsy wasn't much better because since
- 1:46:35she's been force feeding her daughter medications after
- 1:46:37medications and not eating properly, eating out of a
- 1:46:41feeding tube that was surgically placed into her stomach.
- 1:46:44She was a pretty frail little girl, so it made it more
- 1:46:47believable that she was younger than what she actually was and
- 1:46:51not. Also, for the record, I looked
- 1:46:53more frail at 20 than she looked at the time of her arrest.
- 1:46:56To mention, Didi also said that Gypsy just had the kind of a 7
- 1:47:01year old and that single lie explains the childlike voice
- 1:47:06Gypsy was encouraged to use and it kind of excused her from
- 1:47:10every adult conversation. And most importantly, it meant
- 1:47:13no one ever needed to ask Gypsy anything because her mother
- 1:47:18would do the talking. So at doctor's appointments, Dee
- 1:47:21Dee sat beside her daughter and held her hand and everyone in
- 1:47:25the room. It looked like comfort, but
- 1:47:27Gypsy would later describe what it actually was.
- 1:47:29And that was just a like a a squeeze of the hand meant to
- 1:47:32stay quiet. Shut up.
- 1:47:35In that I'll answer. So the control ran through every
- 1:47:38hour of her life, her food, what she ate, whether whether she ate
- 1:47:42and her appearance, the clothes, the shaved head, the weight, her
- 1:47:46social world. Gypsy basically was allowed to
- 1:47:48have no friends and there was no school, as we've talked about
- 1:47:53past the second grade and no job, no mail.
- 1:47:57She could even open herself and the phone was monitored.
- 1:48:00No mail. Something about the mail that
- 1:48:03was found. Like a mile or.
- 1:48:05Two, she totally stole Dede's mail and she also intercepted
- 1:48:12Facebook messages from Dan's mom and his girlfriends and stuff
- 1:48:16like that to Dede deleting them so Dede wouldn't see him like oh
- 1:48:21Chris like. Proven y'all like documented
- 1:48:25boya stuff. So who again?
- 1:48:29I mean, you know, Murray Kell said something.
- 1:48:33I think the ACT ended up spreading this narrative like
- 1:48:35wildfire, which is exactly true. Like I said, my boyfriend and I,
- 1:48:37we are my ex. Boyfriend.
- 1:48:39I've never seen the ACT. You know, my mom and I started
- 1:48:43watching it again like a few weeks ago.
- 1:48:46We didn't finish it, but it's like looking at it with this set
- 1:48:50of eyes, it's like hilariously overdramatic.
- 1:48:55Like, you know, I knew it was a little overdramatic at the time.
- 1:49:00Like I'm like, oh, you know, I mean, it's a dramatization.
- 1:49:03And especially after I remember sitting, oh God, I remember
- 1:49:10sitting on the couch and I was reading this article to my
- 1:49:13ex-boyfriend and I was like, I was like, Oh my goodness.
- 1:49:18You know, I just read this thing here and it says that Gypsy's
- 1:49:21family is really disappointed in the ACT, but thank goodness they
- 1:49:24found this, you know, independent.
- 1:49:27Producer. Who's going to treat them right?
- 1:49:30Who's? Going to do their story the
- 1:49:32right way which. Who?
- 1:49:37Did I not know the shit I was going to get myself into a few
- 1:49:40years later? So anyway, yeah, I knew it was a
- 1:49:44little dramatic, but I didn't think that it was like that bad.
- 1:49:47But I would recommend that if you have Hulu, only if you
- 1:49:50already have Hulu, just, you know, give up these couple
- 1:49:52episodes of Watch and I don't know if you'll even be able to
- 1:49:56get through the whole thing. It's kind of funny.
- 1:49:57So anyway. Maybe I'll, maybe I'll do a live
- 1:50:01stream and be like, OK, we can all hit.
- 1:50:04I can't show it. We can all hit play at the same
- 1:50:06time and laugh at it together in the chat.
- 1:50:10Through or you can get like a Patreon or something.
- 1:50:12I don't know if they limit what you're able to do on Patreon
- 1:50:14like that like they would on YouTube, but maybe you.
- 1:50:17Can watch gotcha. Party, But yeah, no, I I feel
- 1:50:20you. It's very, very interesting.
- 1:50:23So I'm going to press play again.
- 1:50:25We're only on clip two out of like four or five.
- 1:50:27Oh no, we're talking too much. No, but I mean, it's good
- 1:50:31though. We're only talking about what,
- 1:50:34you know, what we're supposed to do, you know, like clarify the
- 1:50:38issues. So anyway.
- 1:50:41On the Internet, when it existed at the house at all, was
- 1:50:45completely supervised, so the. Which another thing y'all?
- 1:50:50Unfortunately, unfortunately in these FOIA videos there were
- 1:50:55videos that were sent that were not supposed to be sent.
- 1:50:58OK, there are 45 minute long videos of Gypsy in the middle of
- 1:51:06her living room with no horde by the way, and no blockage on the
- 1:51:12windows, a lot of light coming through.
- 1:51:15She's completely nude for 45 minutes.
- 1:51:20What is the? Supervision was minimal.
- 1:51:23There are videos of her touching herself in Dee Dee's bed.
- 1:51:26OK, I don't know what to say. I don't know what to say.
- 1:51:32And I understand, Like my parents, they went through my
- 1:51:34phone. Last time I got my phone taken
- 1:51:36was at the age of 19, OK, They were going through my that's a
- 1:51:42whole nother story. Anyway, So my parents were going
- 1:51:45through my phone. They were paying attention to
- 1:51:47stuff, OK. And there were still things that
- 1:51:49I did that they didn't know about, but I sure as hell was
- 1:51:52not naked in the middle of my living room for 45 minutes.
- 1:51:56OK. I tried to sell feet pics when I
- 1:51:58was like 19 and my parents found my account just there and they
- 1:52:00recognized the background of my room.
- 1:52:02You know what I mean? Like they know, they know what's
- 1:52:04going. On, you know.
- 1:52:06Like and, and they were people that were on top of me and they
- 1:52:08still didn't know everything. So again, there's certain things
- 1:52:12that you can get away with that your parents won't know, but not
- 1:52:16in this regard, Not the way that they describe DD's watchful eye,
- 1:52:23I suppose. Yeah, everybody believe that
- 1:52:27Gypsy didn't have a single thought to herself.
- 1:52:30And no, no, no, no. The foyers show so much
- 1:52:34different. Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:52:37So I'm going to, I'm going to go again.
- 1:52:39The world outside was just sealed off from Gypsy.
- 1:52:44And I think a question a lot of people ask about this case is
- 1:52:47like, how didn't Gypsy know? And I feel like the answer is
- 1:52:51pretty simple and that she was just brainwashed, but also that
- 1:52:54she obviously knew at some point.
- 1:52:57And then that's what exactly what made the rest.
- 1:53:00So I know that Dee Dee knew at least by 2011.
- 1:53:03So effective because Gypsy knew she could walk because she did
- 1:53:07it inside the house. When?
- 1:53:09And again, I forgot, we're operating like nobody knows
- 1:53:13what's going on and we're just completely new to the story or
- 1:53:16whatever. But 2011 is when in the video
- 1:53:20with a pink dress, she clarifies telling Nick that she can walk
- 1:53:24and that her mom has known about it since at least 2011.
- 1:53:28When did she say that she caught her?
- 1:53:30I don't remember. Like she.
- 1:53:31She said that she said that she had a seizure and was in the
- 1:53:34hospital for six months and they told her that a paralysis was
- 1:53:38permanent but it was temporary. And she didn't tell her mom when
- 1:53:42she got feeling back in her legs because she was afraid her mom
- 1:53:46wouldn't love her as much. So I don't necessarily believe
- 1:53:51all that's 100% true, but I do think that Gypsy was
- 1:53:55mullingering with her own health conditions.
- 1:53:59Yes, that's what it seems like. No one else was watching, and
- 1:54:04she knew she could eat solid food.
- 1:54:06But the leukemia and the chromosomal disorder, she had no
- 1:54:10way to test those against reality.
- 1:54:12So she knew she could do some things, but she didn't know she
- 1:54:15wasn't sick. So she's probably just like, oh,
- 1:54:18mom knows best, you know, And you're just a kid.
- 1:54:21Yeah, you don't know any better. And years later, in her e-book
- 1:54:24released, Gypsy described her role in her mother's production
- 1:54:27in the language of show business, the press interviews,
- 1:54:31the charity events. Dee Dee did the talking well.
- 1:54:34Gypsy waited. Just can you pause waiting for a
- 1:54:38cue like a no. No, I'm just.
- 1:54:42Saying sorry sullen beauty we we're two hours into our live
- 1:54:48stream, but we're probably only what, like 1520 minutes into her
- 1:54:53we're about. 20 ish minutes into.
- 1:54:56Her, yeah, because we, we've been talking a lot because we
- 1:54:58get annoyed and start saying stuff.
- 1:55:01We're not annoyed with her herself.
- 1:55:04We like her. We want to help her.
- 1:55:06We're just annoyed with the information in the mainstream
- 1:55:09media narrative. Yeah.
- 1:55:11And the fact that again, like even if it was just her team,
- 1:55:13it's like how did they not find at least one or two of.
- 1:55:18The foyers or a little bit of something or even like the stuff
- 1:55:22that parts of the the story that she's saying that even Gypsy
- 1:55:25herself contradicted in her 2024 memoir like.
- 1:55:31Yeah. That's not even going deep into,
- 1:55:35you know, a smaller channels, but like, you know, if you're
- 1:55:41just doing mainstream media sources, you think you would
- 1:55:44look at what Gypsy herself put out in her memoir anyway.
- 1:55:48It's just strange. Yeah, OK.
- 1:55:52I'll press play again. Stage mother Dee Dee fed her
- 1:55:55daughter lines like it's a dream come true.
- 1:55:59And my mom is my best friend. And through that script Gypsy
- 1:56:03wrote, her mother could finally taste the fame she'd always
- 1:56:06wanted. Because whatever movie was
- 1:56:08playing in Dee Dee's mind, Gypsy was never the star of it.
- 1:56:12As we know, she was just the prop.
- 1:56:15So in August of 2005, Hurricane Katrina tore into the Gulf Coast
- 1:56:20and over 1000 people died and hundreds of thousands more lost
- 1:56:24everything. It was one of the worst
- 1:56:26disasters in American history. But for DD Blanchard it was an
- 1:56:30opportunity. And in the chaos of the
- 1:56:33evacuation, D and tipsy surface shield.
- 1:56:35I'm putting on two time speed just so we can try and get
- 1:56:37through some of this. Is that cool?
- 1:56:39OK. Yeah, if anyone if anyone can't
- 1:56:42follow it, let me know and I'll slow it down for y'all.
- 1:56:44Where the story practically told itself.
- 1:56:46You know, the single mother in a wheelchair bound chronically
- 1:56:47I'll daughter washed out of their home with nothing but each
- 1:56:49other. Can you do one point?
- 1:56:5175 It is kind of hard to understand her words a little
- 1:56:54bit. I get an option from 5:00 but
- 1:56:57I'll do 1.25. Sorry, there is no.
- 1:57:00One or even 1.5 might be better. Let's try.
- 1:57:03With it, she said, every single one of Gypsy's medical records.
- 1:57:06So every. Can you understand that?
- 1:57:07Or should I go a little slower? OK, no, I think we get that.
- 1:57:10Sorry y'all, I'm not trying to be annoying I'm just trying to
- 1:57:13get there a little bit of this cause oopsie we talked.
- 1:57:15Specialist to Gypsy had ever seen.
- 1:57:17Every test that had come back clean, every note from a Doctor
- 1:57:19Who might have raised an eyebrow, all of it was now gone
- 1:57:22in an act of God that no one could question.
- 1:57:23And what Didi thought no one could check.
- 1:57:25So whatever came next, there would only be one source for
- 1:57:27Gypsy Rose Blanchard's medical history, and that would be Didi.
- 1:57:29So the pair would eventually make their way N to Missouri,
- 1:57:31first to the small town of Aurora and then to Springfield,
- 1:57:33MO. And Springfield did.
- 1:57:35What could communities do for a storm refugee and her dying
- 1:57:37little girl? And they embraced them. 2008,
- 1:57:40Habitat for Humanity built them a home of their own.
- 1:57:41And it was this little pink house on West Volunteer Way.
- 1:57:44And volunteers put it up with donated labor and donated
- 1:57:46materials, and they built it for Gypsy.
- 1:57:48There was a wheelchair ramp out front, everything on one level,
- 1:57:50even a hot tub, because Dee Dee said warm water soothed her
- 1:57:52daughter's aching muscles. Dee just wanted a hot tub.
- 1:57:54DDH. And the generosity kept coming.
- 1:57:56And in 2007, the Olay Foundation, a national charity
- 1:57:58supporting people who genuinely cannot eat without feeding
- 1:58:00tubes, named Gypsy Rose. It's child of the year, so she
- 1:58:03was held up as a symbol of the very community the foundation
- 1:58:05exists to serve. Not to mention the trips to
- 1:58:07Disney World. There was a wish trip as early
- 1:58:09as 2001 back in Louisiana and more after the move courtesy of
- 1:58:12Terry's Built to give dying children one perfect memory.
- 1:58:15And there were newspaper features and fundraisers and
- 1:58:17free flights, backstage passes, celebrity meet and greets.
- 1:58:19And obviously, none of these organizations did anything
- 1:58:20wrong. They didn't know any better.
- 1:58:21It was just DD taking advantage of her quote UN quote sick
- 1:58:24daughter. So by her late teens, Gypsy Rose
- 1:58:26Blanchard was one of the most beloved sick children in
- 1:58:28Southern Missouri. But in reality, she'd never
- 1:58:30really been sick a day in her life.
- 1:58:31But obviously, the story DD had built was never actually
- 1:58:33airtight. The system did come close to
- 1:58:35catching her more than once. And in 2007, DD brought Gypsy to
- 1:58:38a new special in Springfield, a pediatric neurologist named
- 1:58:41Doctor Bernardo Flasterstein. And on paper, it was just a
- 1:58:43routine visit, but it did not go the way Deedee had planned.
- 1:58:45And Flasterstein reviewed Gipsy's case.
- 1:58:47This teenager with muscular dystrophy, he confined to a
- 1:58:49wheelchair for years, and something just didn't add up.
- 1:58:51The Mris were normal, and the blood work was normal.
- 1:58:54So everywhere this disease should have left some
- 1:58:56fingerprints. There was just nothing.
- 1:58:57So he tried something really simple, and he just asked Gypsy
- 1:59:00to stand, and she did, out of the wheelchair on her own with
- 1:59:03no assistance. And then he noticed something
- 1:59:05that in a genuinely wheelchair about a patient, should have
- 1:59:07been impossible. And that is that Gypsy's legs
- 1:59:09were not atrophied. A person who truly cannot walk,
- 1:59:11whose muscles have gone unused for years, have visibly wasted
- 1:59:14legs. It's unavoidable.
- 1:59:15And Gypsy's leg muscles were normal.
- 1:59:17So to a neurologist, that's not a subtle clue.
- 1:59:19That is a giant red flag. So Flaster scene dug deeper, and
- 1:59:22he did what apparently no one in Missouri had done before.
- 1:59:24He just picked up the phone and called Gypsy's former providers
- 1:59:26in New Orleans. Because remember the records
- 1:59:28that were supposedly destroyed in in Katrina?
- 1:59:29Yeah, well, they weren't. They weren't actually.
- 1:59:31They existed. And they showed that years
- 1:59:33earlier. Gypsies muscle biopsy, the
- 1:59:34definitive test for muscular dystrophy, had come back
- 1:59:37negative. So the disease at the center of
- 1:59:38Gypsy's entire medical identity had been.
- 1:59:40Ruled out. Can you pause?
- 1:59:41Before the storm and in a letter to.
- 1:59:44Yes, what's? That OK, so she says
- 1:59:47Flasterstein does what no one else has ever done in Missouri.
- 1:59:50But Flasterstein wasn't the one who sent DFS there, was he?
- 1:59:56I'd be lying if I said that. I was he.
- 1:59:59I couldn't remember. OK, it might not matter.
- 2:00:01Go ahead. Yeah, sorry, I wish I knew, but
- 2:00:05yeah, no problem. Not always.
- 2:00:08Gypsy's primary care doctor, later obtained by ABC News the
- 2:00:10last 14, wrote it out in black and white and he said he
- 2:00:12believed the mother suffered from Munchausen spike.
- 2:00:14Also, real quick, Cherokee girl, I'm not saying that I believe
- 2:00:17the story about the cow tongue, but a cow tongue can't fit into
- 2:00:23a standard Mason jar. But I do have a Mason jar at my
- 2:00:26home that I could put into. Now again, I don't, I don't buy
- 2:00:30the story, but I don't know, just play devil's app.
- 2:00:34I think Gypsy made-up that story, but it wouldn't like it
- 2:00:40wouldn't be crazy for DD to try some voodoo because in Louisiana
- 2:00:44voodoo is not looked upon as it is anywhere else.
- 2:00:48Most people who are Christians do a little voodoo in Louisiana.
- 2:00:52I watched a video where it was kind of talking about how most
- 2:00:55of the Western world's view of voodoo is kind of based off of
- 2:01:00like racism from way back in the day, where they were just trying
- 2:01:04to kind of ostracize different people of different cultures.
- 2:01:06And I didn't, you know, research enough of it to know all the
- 2:01:11insurance and outs and stuff, but.
- 2:01:13Oh, I did deep research. I I go talk to the priestesses
- 2:01:16in New Orleans. Yeah, but it seems like a lot of
- 2:01:19that stuff is just kind of rooted from racism and not an
- 2:01:22understanding of other cultures, rather than it actually being
- 2:01:26like evil again, but. And also in a cow tongue
- 2:01:32absolutely would not in any kind of hoodoo or voodoo context,
- 2:01:41stop a relationship or stop love.
- 2:01:43A cow tongue in that context is to stop communication.
- 2:01:49Yeah, yeah. It's a different thing than the
- 2:01:53spell that she. Which is a thing that Gypsy was
- 2:01:56intentionally doing herself by deleting incoming messages to DD
- 2:02:01from Dan's mom and other people on her Facebook Messenger.
- 2:02:05So yeah, if anybody was trying to stop communication.
- 2:02:10No kidding. OK, we're going to try again.
- 2:02:13Proxy. So he had solved it in 2007, and
- 2:02:16Gypsy Rose at that point was 15 years old, though obviously she
- 2:02:18didn't know that. So one doctor in Springfield,
- 2:02:20MO, had the entire con figured out.
- 2:02:22But then nothing happened. Processing never reported his
- 2:02:24suspicions to social services, and he would later say he'd been
- 2:02:26warned by previous doctors to handle this family delicately,
- 2:02:28and that he doubted anyone, including law enforcement, would
- 2:02:30take his word over a devoted, beloved mother.
- 2:02:33Because they're, like, famous. Since Springfield needed
- 2:02:35surgery, she didn't need Who am I?
- 2:02:37That's another thing that she said real quick is that they
- 2:02:39were famous in Springfield. Now, I know your view might be a
- 2:02:42little bit skewed because you literally had family that were
- 2:02:46like super close to them and Aurora.
- 2:02:47So obviously we're hearing about them and stuff.
- 2:02:50I want to say it might have been Nancy from the Toll podcast that
- 2:02:54said, yeah, we knew who Gypsy was, but like local celebrities,
- 2:03:02kind of like, I don't know. Yeah, that's a.
- 2:03:06Little, little. I mean, you know, celebrity is a
- 2:03:12strong word at the same time, like you know, when somebody's
- 2:03:16always on go into things where the news is and stuff like that.
- 2:03:24Like, but like you said, my perspective might be skewed
- 2:03:28because I had friends who knew them.
- 2:03:31So because of that, anytime, you know, DD would post something
- 2:03:35public on Facebook when they were doing this or got
- 2:03:38interviewed for this or whatever, I would see it shared
- 2:03:42because I was friends with people who were friends with
- 2:03:44them who were sharing it. So it might have been more in my
- 2:03:48face a little more than other people.
- 2:03:50Yeah, that's why I'm like, not that I don't trust your
- 2:03:52judgement or whatever you have to say about it, but it's like,
- 2:03:55you know, you were also around people that were like actively
- 2:03:57putting themselves in their way or vice versa.
- 2:04:00So it's like, obviously you'd see it a little bit more than
- 2:04:03the average bear. So.
- 2:04:05I'm going to go to the next video now.
- 2:04:07Or Lou's Gypsy Rose, so you know, which one was it to make
- 2:04:13who found a captive girl or a captive girl who found someone
- 2:04:15she could finally control the way she was controlled by her
- 2:04:18own mother. And everything that happens next
- 2:04:20depends on that question, right? So by late 2014, the role play
- 2:04:23and the romance and. Sounds like it skipped
- 2:04:25something. Who am I to say?
- 2:04:28Indeed, it kind of did. Let me go here.
- 2:04:32That's why I said earlier it didn't look like it was as long
- 2:04:35as the video that I watched. So let me press.
- 2:04:40Some just to answer a comment real quick.
- 2:04:43Someone glam mom's backup says sorry I just joined as this
- 2:04:48video is still up. Or is it the one Chris took
- 2:04:50down? This is the one Chris took down.
- 2:04:52We were able to find where somebody clipped it.
- 2:04:55Yes, and it might not be the entire video, so I'm going to
- 2:04:58put on what I can and we'll go from there.
- 2:05:02He for her part, did what she always did when someone got too
- 2:05:04close and she just bad mouthed the doctor to everyone.
- 2:05:07Oh, shoot. Who am I to say?
- 2:05:12And Dee Dee he, for her part, did what she always did when
- 2:05:21someone got too close, and she just badmouthed the doctor to
- 2:05:23everyone who'd listen and simply never brought Gypsy back.
- 2:05:25So that window closed. And then two years later, in
- 2:05:282009, it would open again. And someone, to this day no one
- 2:05:30knows who, called in an anonymous tip.
- 2:05:32And there were concerns about a mother and daughter at the Pink
- 2:05:34House. And this time, it wasn't a
- 2:05:36doctor's hunch. It was an official report.
- 2:05:37And it put two caseworkers on Dee Dee Blanchard's doorstep.
- 2:05:39So a state agency was basically inside the house.
- 2:05:42So the case workers would ask their questions to Dee Dee and
- 2:05:44Dee Dee would answer every single one of them.
- 2:05:45Remember, she's, you know, a trained nurse.
- 2:05:46She knows how to how to how to manipulate and she knows the
- 2:05:49lingo and she knows, you know, how to tell the story and make
- 2:05:51it look true. So they would believe her and
- 2:05:53they would leave and there would be no follow up and the case
- 2:05:55would be closed. So two times, Gypsy could have
- 2:05:57been saved from her mother, but the sister failed her.
- 2:05:59By her late teens, Gypsy Rose had begun to understand.
- 2:06:02Not everything, but enough. Enough to know that what her
- 2:06:04mother. Yes.
- 2:06:08So this is something I've been planning to do a video about
- 2:06:11pretty soon, but I've just been so exhausted lately.
- 2:06:13Like about all I can do is go live.
- 2:06:15I just don't have the energy to edit right now.
- 2:06:18But Gypsy didn't want to be saved from her mom.
- 2:06:23She wanted to be white knighted, saviored out to, as fancy
- 2:06:29Maselli loved to say, someone with AD.
- 2:06:36You know, you've read about the white knight.
- 2:06:38You know people say that in online argument sometimes, like
- 2:06:43why are you white knighting and stuff or the savior syndrome.
- 2:06:48She didn't want help the way normal people understand the
- 2:06:52word help and definitely not within the context of what you
- 2:06:56would think of a person being physically or medically abused
- 2:06:59by their parent. She wanted help in the sense of
- 2:07:05a white knight with a big D Mother of Cats 1515.
- 2:07:13Yeah, we we know she listened to everyone and took it down
- 2:07:16immediately. We agree.
- 2:07:17She's wonderful. We like her a lot.
- 2:07:19We are trying to help her out here by correcting things and
- 2:07:23give her more information. We hope she'll see this and be
- 2:07:25able to get the help. Absolutely.
- 2:07:29None of this is critical, it's just trying to help.
- 2:07:32And even if Chris doesn't see it herself, maybe somebody will and
- 2:07:36they'll come away with more information.
- 2:07:38And again, we, I've said this like two or three times in the
- 2:07:42stream already, but we don't know every single thing that
- 2:07:45happened here. We're just speaking from what we
- 2:07:47know from the FOIA's and from Gypsy's own mouth.
- 2:07:52They seem to contradict a lot, so OK.
- 2:07:57Told the world about her body, didn't match what her body told
- 2:07:59her, and enough to want desperately a way out.
- 2:08:02And the only window Gypsy really had to the outside world was it
- 2:08:04was really small. And those were really just fan
- 2:08:07conventions because Dede had been taking her to science
- 2:08:09fiction fantasy events for years.
- 2:08:10And it it sounds kind of strange until you realize how perfect
- 2:08:12those spaces were for the con. Crowds full of costumes and
- 2:08:15wheelchairs and people of every kind where a small bald girl
- 2:08:17drew no stairs at all. So Dede could play the devoted
- 2:08:19mother in public. But conventions are also full of
- 2:08:21people, and people talk to each other.
- 2:08:22Who would have thunk? In February of 2011, at a
- 2:08:24convention called Vision Con, and Gypsy slipped her mother's
- 2:08:26leash because she'd been secretly talking to a man she
- 2:08:28met online, a man named Dan, who was 20 years her senior.
- 2:08:32And at the convention, she got away long enough to end up in
- 2:08:34his hotel room. And then Dee Dee found them.
- 2:08:36And what she did next tells you everything about how deep this
- 2:08:39deception ran. She produced paperwork, a birth
- 2:08:42certificate showing that Gypsy was a minor, a child, And she
- 2:08:44threatened to call the police on Dan and the situation dissolved
- 2:08:46on the spot, but the document was falsified.
- 2:08:49Did she show a birth certificate?
- 2:08:51Is that a thing I. Don't remember ever hearing that
- 2:08:55part before. I thought I heard she just told
- 2:08:57him. I don't know, I might be wrong.
- 2:09:00I could be wrong too, but yeah. How do you fake a birth
- 2:09:05certificate? I mean, I'm sure it's possible.
- 2:09:07Well, what I heard was, and I think I heard this from, you
- 2:09:13know, it wasn't from reliable sources, but Rod Christie and
- 2:09:17Gypsy's story is Didi had that job for a little while where she
- 2:09:24was helped to restore pictures on the computer, photoshopping
- 2:09:28and restoring. And they said she was
- 2:09:29photoshopping the date, the birth date, basically on birth
- 2:09:36certificates and reprinting them.
- 2:09:38Now that stuff is usually printed on specific paper and
- 2:09:42has like seals pressed into them and stuff.
- 2:09:44I don't know. I don't know if I believe this
- 2:09:47and plus, and I think in the medical records that Fancy put
- 2:09:51out, didn't they have the right dates?
- 2:09:54Wasn't the wrong birth dates mainly to things like churches,
- 2:09:59charities, things like that? I know at least her Medicaid
- 2:10:02card had the correct date. Yeah, I don't think there was a
- 2:10:06lot of actual scamming of the system with official documents
- 2:10:11with a birth date and stuff like that.
- 2:10:13I think that if that happened, it was more for like, you know,
- 2:10:18local charity stuff, wanting to get Gypsy in as still a child or
- 2:10:22teenager. IA 100% believe that she lied to
- 2:10:26the public. Do I think she lied to the
- 2:10:28doctors? At least as far as the things
- 2:10:30that you can't really lie about very easily and get away with
- 2:10:34it. No, Do I think, you know, I
- 2:10:37think that she probably told all the neighbors and the friends
- 2:10:39and maybe even the TV, you know, that Gypsy was whatever age she
- 2:10:43was saying she was but or going through certain treatments, you
- 2:10:49know, but I don't think she was really out of pull the wool over
- 2:10:52the most of the doctor's eyes like that or any of.
- 2:10:55Them, yeah. And I mean, whenever it comes
- 2:10:56to, you know, the charities and stuff like that, I mainly say
- 2:10:59that because I, I know I saw, I think it's been put behind a
- 2:11:05paywall now, but there was some news stuff from right after Dee
- 2:11:12Dee's murder. One of her neighbors was kind of
- 2:11:14quite crying in an interview. She was like, I don't
- 2:11:16understand. I just gave Dee Dee money a
- 2:11:20couple weeks ago because she said she couldn't wasn't going
- 2:11:23to be able to pay her light bill, you know, her electric
- 2:11:25bill and she didn't know what she was going to do.
- 2:11:28And now that she's been murdered and found it turns out there was
- 2:11:32stacks of cash in there, thousands of dollars.
- 2:11:34I just, I don't understand. And that that could be, you
- 2:11:40know, more of like a mental trauma thing, but I do not
- 2:11:43believe that DD had the capability to create documents
- 2:11:47that any official agency was going to accept forged
- 2:11:51documents. I don't.
- 2:11:53No, I don't believe that either. They're very thorough.
- 2:11:57Very thorough, OK. One of the several versions of
- 2:12:02Gypsy's age that Didi kept in her arsenal.
- 2:12:04But in the fallout of the Vision Con incident, Gypsy got hold of
- 2:12:06something she had never actually been allowed to see, and that
- 2:12:08was the truth about her own age. She wasn't a teenager at this
- 2:12:11point, she was actually 19 years old, a legal adult.
- 2:12:13So she's finding out that her mother had stolen years from her
- 2:12:16and Gypsy finally knew it. And the punishment she got from
- 2:12:18the Vision Con incident was horrible because Dede actually
- 2:12:21physically beat her and destroyed her phone and computer
- 2:12:23with a hammer and for roughly 2 weeks, Gypsy said.
- 2:12:26That's what she says, but she never mentions it to Nick any of
- 2:12:30the videos and photos. You don't see her all bruised up
- 2:12:36like that. Again, I'm not trying to say
- 2:12:38it's impossible, who knows, but it just doesn't seem to be
- 2:12:42backed up by any evidence. The only.
- 2:12:44Evidence is. To be her own words after the
- 2:12:47crime. Glam's mom's backup says I think
- 2:12:51Dee Dee was stockpiling cash and determined not to touch it in
- 2:12:54case of another disaster trauma response.
- 2:12:57I agree. That's a better way of wording
- 2:12:59what I was trying to say earlier.
- 2:13:02It's not good, You know, it's not good to ask people for money
- 2:13:06when you have a stockpile kind of thing.
- 2:13:09But knowing that she was thrown out of the family home and
- 2:13:14suddenly with a small child and homeless, trying to figure out
- 2:13:18where to be, and then once again lost everything in Katrina
- 2:13:22whenever their Slidell apartment was hit, even though they were
- 2:13:25already in Covington. I could definitely see a mental
- 2:13:28issue come in there with hoarding and trauma, not only of
- 2:13:32like meds and food, but cash. Like I said, it's not OK, it's
- 2:13:37not good, but. I still think, I think she was a
- 2:13:42little scammy towards her peers, you know, I don't think.
- 2:13:47She. You know, but but I also agree
- 2:13:51that that's probably the stockpiling is probably a a
- 2:13:54thing she was doing with the medicine, with the money, with
- 2:13:56the everything you know, probably a trauma response.
- 2:13:58You know, a lot of bad actions that people do are trauma
- 2:14:02responses in some way, shape or form doesn't.
- 2:14:05That is true. It doesn't make them good or OK,
- 2:14:07but it helps us understand a little more like what the hell
- 2:14:10happened there? For sure.
- 2:14:15Her mother changed her to the vet and then Gypsy says.
- 2:14:18Which also never brought up until after the fact.
- 2:14:22And no bruises, no nothing. And, well, at least.
- 2:14:27Somebody to murder. At least one of the incidents
- 2:14:31where Gypsy claimed that Dee Dee locked her locked her up in the
- 2:14:36shed. Sorry I'm hiccup in a little
- 2:14:39bit. At least one of those
- 2:14:41incidences. Once we got access to her
- 2:14:44Facebook documents, I was able to see that she posted on her
- 2:14:48Emma Rose account during the night as she on the night that
- 2:14:54she claims she was locked in the shed in the cold.
- 2:14:57Yeah. After the Cinderella movie.
- 2:15:00Also Kung Fu Panda Slidell just makes me think of Tofia Chu if
- 2:15:05anyone knows who. It is.
- 2:15:08Anyway, that's a whole other rabbit hole.
- 2:15:10Dee Dee brought a gun into the house, and she said it was for
- 2:15:13protection. But Gypsy read it differently,
- 2:15:15and she would later describe being just genuinely afraid.
- 2:15:17Afraid her mother was preparing to do something worse than
- 2:15:19hitting her and worse than starving her.
- 2:15:20So a few months later, around June 2011, Gypsy would try
- 2:15:23again. And she quietly packed a bag and
- 2:15:25Dee Dee found it. And in the confrontation that
- 2:15:27followed, with that gun sitting out on the table, something in
- 2:15:29Gypsy snapped. And now the next part comes from
- 2:15:31Gypsy's own telling years later. Now there were only two people
- 2:15:34in that room, and only one of them is alive.
- 2:15:36Here's what she said. What happened?
- 2:15:38She grabbed the gun and she threatened her mother with it.
- 2:15:40And then before she fully understood what she was doing,
- 2:15:42she pulled the trigger as many times as it would fire 10 times.
- 2:15:45And some shots hit. Deedee and son hit the wall.
- 2:15:47And the wounds were superficial, barely grazes really, because a
- 2:15:50gun, it turned out, was just a BD gun, something Gypsy only
- 2:15:53realized in the moment and something that she says brought
- 2:15:55her relief because she hadn't actually wanted to kill her
- 2:15:57mother. She says she just got out of the
- 2:15:59house, and Deedee's response was just making up a lie because she
- 2:16:02didn't call the police before. She didn't.
- 2:16:03She invented a mugging. And she told friends and
- 2:16:06neighbors that she been attacked by a robber with a BB gun in a
- 2:16:08Walmart parking lot. So she just used her daughter,
- 2:16:11you know, not trying to kill her, but like trying to harm her
- 2:16:14into a Sally sob story about her getting mugged.
- 2:16:16I What is wrong with this woman? And Gypsy would later describe
- 2:16:19what happened next with a phrase that captures her mother better
- 2:16:21than any diagnosis, and that is that Dede was such a good
- 2:16:23manipulator that she was able to slip her right back into
- 2:16:26submission. And then in February of 2012,
- 2:16:28police were actually called on the lanterns, not for abuse, but
- 2:16:31for shoplifting. Dede and Gypsy had been caught
- 2:16:33stealing from a Hobby Lobby $21.53 worth of craft supplies
- 2:16:36hidden under Gypsy's legs in the wheelchair.
- 2:16:38So she was even using the wheelchair as a tool to use her
- 2:16:41daughter to steal shit. It's disgusting and Dede
- 2:16:43explained it all the way that they just got back from.
- 2:16:45A. Mix up, just not
- 2:16:47misunderstanding and the officer is just.
- 2:16:50So I know Gypsy's stealing tutorial to Nick in the FOIA
- 2:16:53videos wasn't exactly accurate, but I wonder if she would assume
- 2:16:58100% that Didi was using her daughter as a tool to steal if
- 2:17:02she saw how. Like, you know, gleefully, Gypsy
- 2:17:06explains how she steals in the video.
- 2:17:09Yeah, she explains how she steals then.
- 2:17:12Yeah, I'm sure. I mean, it's probable possible
- 2:17:15that Dee Dee taught her how to do that, you know?
- 2:17:18But it doesn't seem like something that she was ashamed
- 2:17:20of, you know? I personally think that if Jimsy
- 2:17:25were to reoffend in any way, it'd probably be something
- 2:17:28klepto related. Yeah, and Budoka 97, says so.
- 2:17:34Was it Dee Dee stealing the baby clothes as well?
- 2:17:37Which, you know, Dee Dee definitely didn't want Gypsy
- 2:17:41getting pregnant or having a boyfriend from everything we
- 2:17:44know. So Gypsy was somehow definitely
- 2:17:46stealing on her own. Yeah, and if I remember
- 2:17:51correctly, she was talking to Nick about how whenever they ran
- 2:17:56off together, they'd continue the con and she'd teach them how
- 2:17:58to steal and. Yeah, she's like, I can pretend
- 2:18:01to be your disabled sister and sit in the cart.
- 2:18:04And then talked about how she would proposition men for
- 2:18:10prostitution and then whack them and rob them.
- 2:18:18Anyway. Let them go.
- 2:18:21At this point, Gypsy was 20 years old at this point.
- 2:18:24She had tried running, she had tried in her own desperate way,
- 2:18:26fighting back, but nothing had worked, and her mother had
- 2:18:29beaten the doctors, the caseworkers, the police and
- 2:18:31every escape her daughter could devise.
- 2:18:32But that same year, hiding from her mother in the glow of a
- 2:18:35computer screen after Didi went to sleep, Gypsy was about to
- 2:18:37meet someone. So as we know, Gypsy was
- 2:18:39completely supervised by her mother and there was basically
- 2:18:41no Internet access, but she did allow Gypsy limited supervised
- 2:18:45access. But as we know as a supervisor,
- 2:18:47and Dee slept night after night. After her mother went to bed,
- 2:18:51Gypsy crept back to the computer.
- 2:18:52Also sometimes in the middle of the day for 45 minutes and broad
- 2:18:57daylight one video. I mean, there's multiple videos
- 2:19:01in broad daylight and not even just like explicit visually or
- 2:19:06anything, but just so many times when she's just recording and
- 2:19:10she's on her phone and she's doing all kinds of stuff.
- 2:19:13Fully dressed up in a prom dress like.
- 2:19:16Yeah, yeah. And you know, the thing about
- 2:19:19the the baby clothes and stuff, the baby clothes like her mom
- 2:19:26never found. She's paying attention to
- 2:19:28everything she does and everywhere she goes and
- 2:19:32everything you know, she never. There's no way.
- 2:19:37Yeah. She built secret accounts,
- 2:19:39secret profiles, a hidden second life in text.
- 2:19:42And in that life she was none of the things that the world
- 2:19:44believed. She wasn't disabled and she
- 2:19:45wasn't a child and she wasn't a prop to anybody's story.
- 2:19:48She was just like a regular woman because she's a woman at
- 2:19:50this point. And in 2012, on a Christian
- 2:19:51dating website, she met someone else who wanted to be someone
- 2:19:54else. And his name was Nicholas
- 2:19:55Godejan. And he was in his early 20s
- 2:19:57living in Big Bend, WI. And he was a soft spoken
- 2:20:00religious young man, at least on his profile.
- 2:20:02But the reality was a lot more complicated now.
- 2:20:03Godejan was on. The autism spectrum diagnosed
- 2:20:06with what was called Asperger's syndrome at the time, and
- 2:20:08psychological evaluations would later document an IQ in the low
- 2:20:1080s and a young man with significant cognitive and social
- 2:20:12vulnerabilities. And he had a brush with the law
- 2:20:14already, and it was an indecency arrest at a fast food restaurant
- 2:20:17and beneath the polite church going exterior, he spent time in
- 2:20:20darker corners of the Internet, drawn to violent content and
- 2:20:22communities. His profile never hinted at.
- 2:20:24SO2 Invisible people basically just found each other.
- 2:20:27And for the next 2 1/2 years, almost entirely in secret, they
- 2:20:29built a world of their own together.
- 2:20:31And Gypsy told him the truth. And Nicholas Goddejan became one
- 2:20:34of the only human beings on earth who knew it.
- 2:20:36He knew about the wheelchair that she didn't need, the
- 2:20:37diseases that she didn't have, and the mother who would never,
- 2:20:40ever, ever, ever let her go. And their online world went
- 2:20:43beyond confession into fantasy, like elaborate, constant role
- 2:20:46play. And they created characters
- 2:20:47together and personas they'd slip into for hours.
- 2:20:50And some of it was romance, but some of it was much darker.
- 2:20:52And this is where the story kind of splits in two, because what
- 2:20:54happened inside the relationship depends entirely on who's
- 2:20:56telling it. Because in one version, Gypsy is
- 2:20:58completely innocent, a sheltered abuse victim who found her first
- 2:21:01love and a man who steered their fantasy life to avoid violence.
- 2:21:04But there is another version, and it comes from sworn
- 2:21:06testimony, because at Godojan's later court proceedings, A
- 2:21:09psychologist testified about a persona Gypsy used with him, a
- 2:21:11character called Demona. And in videos and messages, the
- 2:21:14psychologist said Gypsy, as Demona called Godojan her slave,
- 2:21:17gave him orders, spelled out consequences if he disobeyed,
- 2:21:20including. Which she continued that in
- 2:21:24prison and personally, I am not going to be mad at a prisoner
- 2:21:29for doing what you'd expect them to do by having pay pigs in
- 2:21:32prison and conning men. I I don't have an issue with
- 2:21:35that in itself. However, I do have an issue with
- 2:21:38the fact that she acts like she's a change person that all
- 2:21:41this stuff helped her grow and how prison was like, you know
- 2:21:44this time for growth and change and all the way up until right
- 2:21:47before she got released from prison.
- 2:21:49She has these pay pigs that she's having this master slave
- 2:21:52dynamic with. And also Chris brings up
- 2:21:55something about, you know, under testimony, Underoath or
- 2:21:58whatever. Underoath.
- 2:21:59It's admitted that from Dan Glidewell that Gypsy introduced
- 2:22:04him to some aspects of BDSM as well.
- 2:22:08Well, I kind of do have an issue with the fact that prison didn't
- 2:22:14provide any method of change to her in the context that what
- 2:22:21Gypsy was doing before the murder was what she seemed to
- 2:22:27pretty much enjoy. She just wanted DD out of the
- 2:22:29way to do more of that, which is make videos in her house and,
- 2:22:35you know, have relationships online.
- 2:22:38She continued that in prison through the whole, you know, pay
- 2:22:41pig thing and the video chats and stuff that she got in
- 2:22:45trouble with and then immediately continued doing the
- 2:22:49same thing when she got out. And so the method by which she
- 2:22:55orchestrated and planned the murder and reeled in her tool,
- 2:23:01Nicholas go to John to do the murder.
- 2:23:03Like that method was never restricted from her via prison.
- 2:23:10I 100% agree with the fact that something probably in theory
- 2:23:19should have been done, and that it sucks that she was able to
- 2:23:22continue the same patterns of behavior before, during, and
- 2:23:26after prison. And I'm all for Prison Reform
- 2:23:31100%. But as it currently stands, and
- 2:23:35unfortunately, as I feel like it'll probably stand for quite
- 2:23:39some time, if not indefinitely, is that prison isn't really
- 2:23:43about the rehabilitation. They're just kind of, it's a
- 2:23:46place to store all of the bad people that have done bad
- 2:23:50things. And they all get kind of
- 2:23:51classified together, even though some people murder their mother
- 2:23:54and some people just did drugs, you know?
- 2:23:57Yeah. And you know, in addition to
- 2:24:00that is I don't know what the good answer is to that.
- 2:24:04I mean, obviously it would be great if every punishment via
- 2:24:10prison in the court was tailored to the crime and the person.
- 2:24:14That's just not possible with the volume of population that we
- 2:24:17have. Like, it's not realistic.
- 2:24:23But morally speaking, yeah, there was.
- 2:24:26There was never really a consequence in the sense that
- 2:24:31what she enjoyed doing wasn't restricted from her in prison.
- 2:24:36Yeah. No.
- 2:24:38And then it's like, while on paper, yeah, that'd be great if
- 2:24:42like, she wasn't able to do that same thing.
- 2:24:46But also it's like, OK, well, prisoners still deserve some
- 2:24:50rights and they should be able to talk to their friends, their
- 2:24:53family, whatever. And it's like, yeah, I don't.
- 2:24:56I don't. Yeah, that's.
- 2:24:57Complicated. That's where I do get tripped up
- 2:24:59because free speech is very important to me.
- 2:25:02And whenever I say, you know, a consequence tailored to each
- 2:25:05prisoner's individual act for a crime like Gypsies, where she
- 2:25:12used her free speech and she used Internet access and online
- 2:25:17communication to literally orchestrate a murder, well, it
- 2:25:21seems like possibly the only way to actually give a fitting
- 2:25:26punishment for that would be to restrict that free speech.
- 2:25:29But that's not a thing we do in America, and I don't want to
- 2:25:33start doing that in America. Free speech is important, so I
- 2:25:36don't really know what the good answer is.
- 2:25:39I can just see that it's a problem.
- 2:25:41You know what I mean? I'm, I'm with you, man.
- 2:25:44There's a lot of things in life I feel that way about.
- 2:25:46It's like, I mean, this happens and that happens and it's like.
- 2:25:50But even the. Sorry, I started choking on my
- 2:25:57own spit, but Even so it's like yeah it'd be great.
- 2:26:01Also if like there could be individual programs tailored to
- 2:26:06each person's individual crimes, their individual needs.
- 2:26:08But you know, yeah, the staffing and the pay for people.
- 2:26:11There, the reality just isn't there.
- 2:26:14You know, like so. Great ideas, great ideal world,
- 2:26:18great goals. In an ideal world, you wouldn't
- 2:26:20even need it, you know what I mean?
- 2:26:22So it's kind of like, I don't, I don't know what the answer.
- 2:26:24Is I agree? Yeah, same.
- 2:26:28OK, I'm going to press play again.
- 2:26:29Losing her forever and a psychologist's conclusion was
- 2:26:32pretty chilling. And that was that the
- 2:26:33instructions repeated over months to a cognitively
- 2:26:36vulnerable man had effectively programmed him and programmed
- 2:26:39him specifically to believe he had a binary choice, and that
- 2:26:42was to kill Dee Dee Blanchard or lose Gypsy Rose.
- 2:26:45So you know, which one was it? A predator who found a captive
- 2:26:48girl or a captive girl who found someone she could finally
- 2:26:50control the way she was controlled by her own mother?
- 2:26:53And everything that happens next depends on that question, right?
- 2:26:56So by late 2014, the role play and the romance and the
- 2:26:58desperation had become this ugly monster.
- 2:27:01Gypsy was 23 years old and she had tried running away twice.
- 2:27:04She had tried fighting back once, but nothing had worked.
- 2:27:07But somewhere in those late night conversations, the last
- 2:27:09option stopped being unthinkable and it started to become a plan.
- 2:27:12So in March 2015, after nearly three years of secret messages,
- 2:27:15Gypsy Rose and Nicholas Garjon decided it was time to meet.
- 2:27:19What's that? It didn't suddenly become
- 2:27:22unthinkable and become a plan in 2014.
- 2:27:25In 2014, I think it was like mid 2014.
- 2:27:29I want to say June or July, but I have to verify that.
- 2:27:33But around that time was when Nick messages Allie and he's
- 2:27:37like, Gypsy changed her mind. And Allie's like, oh, about
- 2:27:41killing her mom. And he's like, yeah, we're going
- 2:27:42to try another thing first. So like, that plan had been in
- 2:27:46place for a bit in 2014. They backed off it for a bit and
- 2:27:50then come back to it. You know, like it seems like she
- 2:27:54is under the impression that it just happened that year.
- 2:27:57I'm not sure about that. Don't know if it happened for
- 2:28:01sure in 2013 or maybe at the beginning of 2014.
- 2:28:05But like, yeah, it just, it had been going on for a bit longer
- 2:28:10than most people realize is really my only point there.
- 2:28:14Also, I see this comment here by Dragon Approved and it says the
- 2:28:17parole board could have stopped it if they looked at her prison
- 2:28:19records. Well, actually that's not really
- 2:28:23true either because I don't remember the exact number, but
- 2:28:27in Missouri, if you're a first time offender, you really can
- 2:28:33only serve a certain percentage of your prison sentence.
- 2:28:36And then they let you go. Like you can't just, I mean, and
- 2:28:42Even so, Even so, even if she would have stayed, you know,
- 2:28:45until the end, it would have only been what, like a year and
- 2:28:47a half, two years left that she had.
- 2:28:50I mean, the the parole, the parole board has something to do
- 2:28:53with the plea deal that she got. You know, once that happened, it
- 2:28:56was just kind of a done deal as far as when she got out.
- 2:29:00Yeah, I definitely, it's, it's crappy that 85% like that just
- 2:29:07seems so weird to me. Everything about our justice
- 2:29:09system is about saving money. The plea deals are about saving
- 2:29:13money on trials. The 85% is about saving money on
- 2:29:17prison cost and blah, blah, blah.
- 2:29:18And it's like, where is justice? Yeah, there's yeah, no such.
- 2:29:24Thing really. Generally not, no.
- 2:29:28It's it's not so OK. But nothing in Dipsy's life
- 2:29:35happened without her mother, right?
- 2:29:36So the meeting itself had to be a con itself.
- 2:29:39And the plan was laid out in Gypsy's own memoir, and that was
- 2:29:41that. She and Deedee were already
- 2:29:42going to the movies, Disney's live action Cinderella.
- 2:29:44And Gypsy secretly mailed Gojon money for a bus ticket from
- 2:29:46Wisconsin, and that money was taken from Deedee and he would
- 2:29:48simply be there in the theater, a stranger to what Deedee knows.
- 2:29:51And Gypsy would engineer a meet cute right under her mother's
- 2:29:53nose. Chance encounter Deedee could
- 2:29:55watch happen with her own eyes and never suspect.
- 2:29:57It had been scripted for months, even though costumes were part
- 2:29:59of it. Gypsy came dressed as Cinderella
- 2:30:01and Gojon came as Prince Charming, and Gypsy had said
- 2:30:04herself that in her mind, this was the fairy tale she found her
- 2:30:06Prince Charming, which made her mother the villain.
- 2:30:09But the meet cute, for the record, didn't fool Deedee.
- 2:30:11She watched the stranger orbit her daughter, and her suspicion
- 2:30:14flared almost immediately, and she pulled Gypsy away and the
- 2:30:16day nearly collapsed. But at some point, briefly, the
- 2:30:18two managed to slip off unsupervised.
- 2:30:20And according to go to John's later police interview, they had
- 2:30:22sat in the pier bathroom while Deedee sat in the dark watching
- 2:30:24the movie. So they had been in the same
- 2:30:25room for only one afternoon, and they would see each other in
- 2:30:27person exactly one more time before everything ended.
- 2:30:30And this meeting was only one branch of a decision tree, if
- 2:30:32you will. And on the stand, Gypsy would
- 2:30:34testify that she, if he had plans AB and C to be with
- 2:30:36Nicholas Gajan if he testified. OK.
- 2:30:44Or Lou's Gypsy Rose. So you know which one was it A
- 2:30:48predator who found a captive girl?
- 2:30:49Or a captive girl who found someone she could finally
- 2:30:51control. Feels like that's.
- 2:30:53Repeat something. Yeah, there we've, I think
- 2:30:56there's an overlap in the recording.
- 2:30:57We have heard some of that. If you can scroll a bit ahead.
- 2:31:09It's up right there. Or was it a terrified prisoner,
- 2:31:12so desperate for daylight that she'd become her mother's
- 2:31:13daughter, a planner, a manipulator, a producer of her
- 2:31:16own show? And both readings fit the
- 2:31:18evidence. But what's certain is that by
- 2:31:19early June 2015 that the talking was over and Gypsy had unlocked
- 2:31:22money from DD Stash and Gojon had a bus route and
- 2:31:25instructions, and there was a list, Short, practical,
- 2:31:27horrifying in its ordinariness. Gloves, a knife, duct tape.
- 2:31:30And all that remained was for him to arrive.
- 2:31:32So in the second week of June 2015, Nicholas Gojon boarded a
- 2:31:35Greyhound bus in Wisconsin and rode it 700 miles South to
- 2:31:38Springfield, MO. And accounts differ slightly.
- 2:31:41On real quick solemn beauty yes don't they get good time in
- 2:31:43Missouri? Yes, they do.
- 2:31:44And I actually think that they kept Gypsy like literally as
- 2:31:47long as they physically possibly could.
- 2:31:49Like good time aside all that stuff.
- 2:31:54Like I think they kind of accept her as long as they legally
- 2:31:58could keep her. The exact day he arrived.
- 2:32:00Some records point to June 8th or 9th with Gojan holed up
- 2:32:02waiting at a local motel, and others had him arriving on June
- 2:32:0410th itself, reaching the neighborhood while Gypsy and DD
- 2:32:06were out at the doctor's appointment.
- 2:32:08But what no account disputes is why he had come or what he was
- 2:32:10carrying out of that plan. And that was gloves, duct tape
- 2:32:13and instructions. Now a knife Gypsy had bought
- 2:32:15herself. What makes June 9th so hard to
- 2:32:17hear about is how normal it was. And that day, mother and
- 2:32:19daughter just ran Aaron. Oh I'm wrong.
- 2:32:21Into the Weeds podcast, My mother, she was listening and
- 2:32:24she said they don't have good time in Missouri.
- 2:32:27Oopsie Daisy. I guess I was wrong.
- 2:32:28If they did my cousin would probably be out by now.
- 2:32:31She does so much it's not even funny.
- 2:32:34A trip to the doctor, stop at the Dollar General, and in the
- 2:32:36evening they argued, then made-up the way they always did.
- 2:32:38And then Deedee and Gypsy Rose spent their last night as mother
- 2:32:41and daughter doing something almost unbearably ordinary.
- 2:32:43And they just painted each other's nails.
- 2:32:45And Gypsy would later recall the last words her mother ever said
- 2:32:47to her. And as Deedee relaxing to sleep,
- 2:32:48she said, I'm starting to feel more relaxed.
- 2:32:50Don't hurt me. Deedee said things like this
- 2:32:52when her arthritis was acting up, and by Gypsy's account, it
- 2:32:54was about her sore hands and nothing more.
- 2:32:57She had no idea what was about to happen.
- 2:32:58But it's the kind of sentence that once you know what happens
- 2:33:00next, you just never forget. And then sometime after midnight
- 2:33:02into the early morning hours of June 10th, the house went quiet.
- 2:33:05And Dee Dee was asleep in her bedroom.
- 2:33:07And Gypsy unlocked the front door and Nicholas Ghodajan
- 2:33:09stepped inside that little pink house that Habitat volunteers
- 2:33:11had built. And Gypsy handed him the gloves,
- 2:33:13the duct tape and the knife. And then she did what she says
- 2:33:16she was told to do and what she says she chose to do.
- 2:33:18And she went into the bathroom and she closed the door and then
- 2:33:21she covered her ears. And Ghodajan walked into Dee's
- 2:33:23bedroom. And there in the dark, he stated
- 2:33:25Claudine Blanchard 19 times in the back as she lay in her bed
- 2:33:29and she would wake during the attack.
- 2:33:30And she called out for Gypsy, her daughter, hiding down the
- 2:33:33hall with her hands over her ears, hearing her mother cry out
- 2:33:36her name for help. But Gypsy did not come out.
- 2:33:38And in his police interview, Beaujean would describe the
- 2:33:40killing with a flatness that unsettled even veteran
- 2:33:42investigators. He chosen stabbings for explain
- 2:33:45because he reasoned she would bleed out.
- 2:33:48Miss Behaving made a good point. I thought she was replying to
- 2:33:51Selen Beauty and said I can't believe she got no extra time
- 2:33:54for the essay claim because yeah her prison infraction record
- 2:33:59isn't that bad. But her jail infraction record
- 2:34:03includes her making a false grape claim on her cellmate
- 2:34:10after having consensual sex and then getting mad at her for
- 2:34:14something and sent the cellmate to the whole and then eventually
- 2:34:18confess that it was a false claim.
- 2:34:21And then the prison emails kind of laughs about how funny it is
- 2:34:24that they just believe everything that she says.
- 2:34:28Again, this is a set of words from her own mouth.
- 2:34:30This isn't us just deciding randomly that this is how it
- 2:34:33happened, you know? I wonder sometimes.
- 2:34:36I mean, I know that Missouri law is what it is and they couldn't
- 2:34:39hold her over 85%, but I wonder sometimes what would have
- 2:34:42happened if that would have been on her prison record and not a
- 2:34:46jail record that didn't get considered.
- 2:34:49I didn't even realize that it was from jail and not prison.
- 2:34:52Yeah, it was from Greene County Jail.
- 2:34:53Like almost immediately after she got in jail, that's what she
- 2:34:56did. Having sex with wow, OK, I mean
- 2:35:02wow. Had consensual sex.
- 2:35:05She said the cellmate threatened her about something after the
- 2:35:08sex and that's why she did the false grape claim and got her
- 2:35:12put in the hole. There's plenty of people I
- 2:35:14regret being with, but you know. Yeah, and she her talking about
- 2:35:22it, I believe it was in her prison emails.
- 2:35:24She was talking about how great it is and what growth it shows
- 2:35:30that She later confessed that it wasn't right, it wasn't real,
- 2:35:34that it was false. She stresses me out sometimes.
- 2:35:42OK, 1st. That he badly damaged her neck
- 2:35:43and Deedee Blanchard died in her bedroom on West Volunteer Way.
- 2:35:46And she was 48 years old. And what happened in the next
- 2:35:48hours depends once again on who you believe.
- 2:35:50And both agree on some of it. Gypsy came out of the bathroom
- 2:35:53and she wiped off some of her mother's blood with baby wipes.
- 2:35:55And the two of them found Deedee's money over $4000 in
- 2:35:57cash. The remains of the charity, the
- 2:35:59donations in the years of sympathy.
- 2:36:00But Gojan told police that afterward because went to
- 2:36:02Gypsy's bedroom steps away from her mother.
- 2:36:05Yes, it wasn't exactly the two of them that found the money.
- 2:36:08Gypsy got the money like. You know they.
- 2:36:12Weren't hunting together for the money.
- 2:36:15Yeah, true, true. She knew exactly where to find
- 2:36:18it. So.
- 2:36:20And from some accounts, it seems like it was in Deedee's bedroom,
- 2:36:24which she claims she never ever went.
- 2:36:26Back into after Deedee died but the accounts of her finding the
- 2:36:32money are getting the money the money sometimes it's.
- 2:36:38Said that it was in the night. Stand next to Dee Dee's bed.
- 2:36:44A few people have interpreted it as a safe, I believe.
- 2:36:48I can't remember myself. Like.
- 2:36:50It's Gypsy and Nick's recollections, and then it's
- 2:36:55cellmates telling what Gypsy told them.
- 2:36:58So there are discrepancies, but most of them say that she went
- 2:37:03into Dede's bedroom and got money out of there.
- 2:37:08Yeah, she says she doesn't go or didn't go back.
- 2:37:10But also that damn Barney doll that was.
- 2:37:13Sitting on, Yeah. Yeah, and so many of her cell
- 2:37:17mates saying that she told them that.
- 2:37:19She cleaned up. Blood from.
- 2:37:21The bed to the bathroom naked, by the way, y'all?
- 2:37:25And that part's confirmed naked. Yeah, and apparently.
- 2:37:29The I mean the door was open. In all the crime scene videos
- 2:37:35and she never mentions the doors closing in any of her
- 2:37:39recountings of, you know, the naked cleaning up and the sex
- 2:37:43afterwards and her bed where, you know, there's the black
- 2:37:50light or whatever it is showing where they had sex on her bed
- 2:37:54after they shoved aside the stuffed animals.
- 2:38:00It looks straight. Her doorway would look straight
- 2:38:02through Dee. Dee's doorway onto.
- 2:38:05Dee's bed. Wow.
- 2:38:08Yeah, with those doors open. Yeah, I always forget.
- 2:38:16The setup of the house, exactly how it was.
- 2:38:18But yeah, being right there is. There's so many layered creepy
- 2:38:23details to it, like all of us who cover this and who.
- 2:38:27Watch all of our commenters and things who who go into
- 2:38:30researching this case. We've all probably forgot more
- 2:38:33about this than the average person hearing about it will
- 2:38:37ever know. You are not kidding.
- 2:38:40OK, I'm pressing that again, had consensual relations.
- 2:38:43Gypsy tells it differently. And at the trial, she testified
- 2:38:45that there was nothing consensual about it and Dodejean
- 2:38:47actually took. Advantage of her that night and
- 2:38:49that as it happened, she cried out for her mother, the mother
- 2:38:51who was now lying dead down the hall.
- 2:38:53So there's two people with two different stories and one of
- 2:38:55them was a cognitively impaired man facing a murder charge and
- 2:38:57the other was a woman who had her entire life inside other
- 2:38:59people's fictions. Did she just say that Gypsy said
- 2:39:02that at the trial? Because no, on the stand, she
- 2:39:05said. It was consensual.
- 2:39:11Out of the bathroom and she wiped off some of her.
- 2:39:12Mother's blood with baby wipes and the two of them found Dee
- 2:39:15dee's money over $4000 in cash the.
- 2:39:17Remains of the charity, the donations and the years of
- 2:39:19sympathy. But Gaudejean told police that
- 2:39:20afterward, the two of them went to Gypsy's bedroom, steps away
- 2:39:23from her mother's body, and had consensual relations.
- 2:39:26And Gypsy tells it differently. And at the trial, she testified
- 2:39:27that there was nothing consensual about it and
- 2:39:29Gaudejean actually took advantage of her that night.
- 2:39:31And that as it happened. Yeah, That's a legit error.
- 2:39:35Yeah, I'm pretty sure. Yeah, something we've all called
- 2:39:39out A. Lot is that Gypsy said on the
- 2:39:45stand that it was consensual and then turned around and said in
- 2:39:48her book that it was grape, Arista 177 says they had all
- 2:39:55these weird fantasies. Yeah, she does tell Nick that
- 2:40:00she's going to do that to him multiple times over text, you
- 2:40:03know? Yeah, And they said to each
- 2:40:07other, she said in her videos and Facebook.
- 2:40:09Messages over and over that, you know, they would do these grape
- 2:40:14fantasies and role plays and stuff like that and that she
- 2:40:18would say no stop and that he was to keep going as part of the
- 2:40:22fantasy unless she said the safe word.
- 2:40:25Now, I've never come across any documentation yet of her
- 2:40:29actually assigning a specific safe word, but she specifically
- 2:40:34says in her memoir, I, it was great because I said no stop.
- 2:40:41And I meant it and he didn't. Then we have all these foyers of
- 2:40:45hers telling him over and over, I'm going to say.
- 2:40:48No stop. And that.
- 2:40:49Doesn't mean anything. You keep going because this is
- 2:40:52the fantasy. Only if I say the safe word,
- 2:40:54stop. But I'm still not seeing
- 2:40:56evidence in the safe word yet. Yeah.
- 2:40:58And she goes back and forth between was I assaulted?
- 2:41:03Was I not? Assaulted, accusing that woman
- 2:41:07of assaulting her. So then it's like, where are we
- 2:41:09really standing? And then also in the prison
- 2:41:12e-mail, she says that she's a virgin because no one ever beat
- 2:41:16that shit up. And I quote, well, she pretty
- 2:41:20much kept claiming to be a virgin until she was.
- 2:41:25Visibly pregnant after she you know no one's ever made her she
- 2:41:32got. Out of prison, she was like, I'm
- 2:41:34still kind. Of a virgin.
- 2:41:37Yeah, well, I think she even like.
- 2:41:39Minded said something along the lines of like since no man's
- 2:41:41ever made. Her orgasm that she's basically
- 2:41:43a. Virgin Oh yeah, that was after
- 2:41:45she divorced Ryan, Still kind of a virgin because she said that
- 2:41:49she'd never had an. Orgasm.
- 2:41:50But like Syria. Not even just by herself, Like
- 2:41:53not even by herself. Like she was like saying that
- 2:41:55she had never had one. Period.
- 2:41:57I feel like from the foyers it's obviously not true, but yeah,
- 2:42:00yeah. Anyway, if I could never?
- 2:42:06Mind, she cried out for her mother, the mother who is now
- 2:42:09lying dead. Down the hall, so there's two
- 2:42:10people with two different stories and one of them was a
- 2:42:12cognitively impaired man facing. A murder charge.
- 2:42:14And the other was a woman who has spent her entire life inside
- 2:42:16other people. The comments say her too.
- 2:42:18It's up to you to decide which which is.
- 2:42:19Oh, her? Yeah.
- 2:42:23Moving. On You know, you know.
- 2:42:26I have an electric toothbrush. I don't want to think about all
- 2:42:27that. Story.
- 2:42:28You want to believe I I'm. Not going to decide for you.
- 2:42:30So just before 6:00 in the morning, a taxi pulled up
- 2:42:33outside the Pink House and two passengers.
- 2:42:34Climbed it, and there's a young man and a small young woman in a
- 2:42:36blonde wig, upright and walking, and the empty wheelchair stayed
- 2:42:38behind on the porch. So for two people who had just
- 2:42:40committed murder, Gypsy and Gojon behaved less like
- 2:42:43fugitives and more like tourists.
- 2:42:44And the taxi dropped them off at the Days Inn on the far side of
- 2:42:47Springfield. And for the next two days, the
- 2:42:48couple simply just existed out in the open.
- 2:42:50Security cameras caught them again and again browsing the
- 2:42:52aisles at Walmart, sharing a meal at Waffle House, A young
- 2:42:54couple in an unremarkable here and run miles away from a house
- 2:42:57with a body inside of it and the cab driver who picked them up.
- 2:43:00No disagree. That would mean that somebody
- 2:43:04that is with. Somebody of the same sex could
- 2:43:06not. Lose their virginity and that's
- 2:43:08not true. Up would later testify about the
- 2:43:10strange pre Dawn Fair and his description of Gypsy is one of
- 2:43:13the most memorable in the entire case because.
- 2:43:14He said she looked like a child and he said she sounded even
- 2:43:17younger and carried herself with the attitude of a middle-aged
- 2:43:19woman, though like, sharp toned enough that she wasn't afraid to
- 2:43:22tell him off. So just something about her he
- 2:43:23told the court was just wrong. And he was the first stranger to
- 2:43:26meet the real Gypsy Rose or lose Gypsy Rose.
- 2:43:30So, you know, which one was it? A predator?
- 2:43:35Oh, I just realized that our clip ended.
- 2:43:38Yeah, it ended. I'm.
- 2:43:39Also wondering if it's playing a different one.
- 2:43:41Because hold on, let me play like.
- 2:43:44Oh no it's not because the comments the same.
- 2:43:47It stopped being 1.5 times speed.
- 2:43:49So it's like, what did something that tells you exactly how much
- 2:43:52they understood about evading a murder investigation and they
- 2:43:55mailed the knife. They boxed up the murder weapon
- 2:43:57and shifted ahead to go to. I think that was intentional,
- 2:44:00Yeah, if once again, if she looked into the FOIA.
- 2:44:04She would know that Gypsy. Discussed with him by text
- 2:44:10sinking the knife in Springfield Lake, which would have helped
- 2:44:14them but for some reason decided at the last minute no they were
- 2:44:19going to take it with them and Nick's only explanation he
- 2:44:22didn't retain or whatever why they switched from the lake to
- 2:44:28this, but he. Said well, she mailed.
- 2:44:30It because she didn't know if you could bring it on a bus.
- 2:44:33There might be metal detectors. Like he never explained why on
- 2:44:37earth they were taking it with them.
- 2:44:39That clearly was something Gypsy decided after telling him in the
- 2:44:44pre planning that they were going to sink it in the lake.
- 2:44:48Metal detectors on a bus? I don't think I've ever seen any
- 2:44:51of that. But didn't she have a bus pass
- 2:44:52before? Like.
- 2:44:53Prior, since she would. Have known what it's like to be
- 2:44:55on a bus. She had a Springfield bus pass.
- 2:44:59I'm not. I mean, I've never been on a bus
- 2:45:00at Springfield, so I don't know if they're a little more fancy.
- 2:45:02But in 2015 now I know they're. Talking about.
- 2:45:04In maybe it was Saint Louis or Kansas City, they're talking
- 2:45:08about putting those face scanners on the buses, which
- 2:45:11feels like we're in Big Brother. Not a fun kind.
- 2:45:14I what's today? Saturday.
- 2:45:16Big Brother comes on tomorrow. So upset they evicted Jason, my
- 2:45:21drag queen. Anyway, sorry.
- 2:45:23Anyway, I'll play a little bit more of this time to John's home
- 2:45:27in Wisconsin. And in the return address field
- 2:45:29they wrote the address of the. Pink House on.
- 2:45:31West Volunteer Way to the victim's.
- 2:45:32Home. So on June 12th they boarded a
- 2:45:34Greyhound bus north, and witnesses along the way would
- 2:45:36later remember the small young woman in the blonde wig walking
- 2:45:39unassisted through the terminals.
- 2:45:40And by June 13th they were at go to John's house in Big Bend.
- 2:45:43And it might have held for a while too, because no one was
- 2:45:45coming to check on DD Blanchard, and she had made sure of that
- 2:45:47herself years ago. Because she didn't have a job,
- 2:45:49she didn't let Gypsy go to school, and she didn't have
- 2:45:51family nearby. She had spent two decades
- 2:45:53pruning away every person who might come knocking, and Gypsy
- 2:45:56knew it. So her mother's body could lie
- 2:45:57in that bedroom for weeks, going unnoticed in my gypsy's own
- 2:46:00account. Later.
- 2:46:00Apparently she couldn't bear that cause apparently she did
- 2:46:03want her mother to be found. So on June 14th, she saw she
- 2:46:06wanted her mother to be found. Or was she just getting tired of
- 2:46:08Nick? Yeah, like.
- 2:46:12You know, that's not a thing that she could have.
- 2:46:15Probably figured. Out without digging into, you
- 2:46:19know, all of our videos and stuff like that, but it from
- 2:46:22everything that we went through and read with the Foyas, it
- 2:46:25seems very obvious to me that she suddenly was like, Oh my
- 2:46:30God, Nick is what I not quite what I fantasized.
- 2:46:34Although having watched those videos, I don't know what the
- 2:46:36hell she thought he was going to be.
- 2:46:37But anyway, and I think she blew it up just to get away from
- 2:46:42Nick. I don't think she really thought
- 2:46:44that. I don't think she really had to
- 2:46:46care about DD. Yeah.
- 2:46:49And also I just thought about another thing about her being
- 2:46:51there. She talks about how she's
- 2:46:53basically a virgin. But if you.
- 2:46:54Listen to Bobby, go to John Nick, Nick's father's testimony.
- 2:46:58They were doing it like rabbits up there.
- 2:47:00And he was like, oh, yeah, in the house.
- 2:47:02Like, you need to stop. He said he had to tell them to
- 2:47:06be quiet. Because.
- 2:47:08Of the children. In the house, Yeah.
- 2:47:11My mom said wrestling. She's.
- 2:47:13And then she married Ryan Anderson, who loves Ed wrestlers
- 2:47:16everywhere. Yeah.
- 2:47:20Was that evidence of freedom? Did I just mess it up again?
- 2:47:26Did something that tells you exactly how much they understood
- 2:47:28about evading. I'm so damn confused.
- 2:47:31I keep. Losing my spot.
- 2:47:32Here. She's talking about mailing it,
- 2:47:37so I think it's just back at the beginning.
- 2:47:40Would go up and it was. Just 4 words written as if Dee
- 2:47:42Dee's own page were announcing her own death completely.
- 2:47:45Unexplainable to anyone who knew the.
- 2:47:46Saintly woman who ran that account and Gypsy would later
- 2:47:49claim the wording was go to Jean's idea and the intent to
- 2:47:51raise the alarm was gypsies. And then when the 1st post
- 2:47:54didn't seem to be working fast enough, a second one went up.
- 2:47:56And the second post is documented in court record and
- 2:47:58it said the bitch is dead. So that second post was a wake
- 2:48:01up call for anybody reading it and horrifying.
- 2:48:03And it worked because a family friend saw the posts and sitting
- 2:48:06at a laptop in a kitchen a world away from Wisconsin, felt
- 2:48:08confusion curdle into alarm. Calls went out to other friends
- 2:48:11and then to 911. Not evening.
- 2:48:13Springfield police arrived at the little pig house and the
- 2:48:15wheelchair sat empty on the porch.
- 2:48:17And inside in the back bedroom, they found Dede Blanchard.
- 2:48:19Four days gone. And that was the moment that
- 2:48:21this case just split in two because a murder, tragically is
- 2:48:25something police know how to work.
- 2:48:26And what they could not explain was the other half of the scene
- 2:48:28because Gypsy Rose was gone and her wheelchair was at the house.
- 2:48:31And as far as anybody else knew, that she had to be in that
- 2:48:33wheelchair. So it looked like somebody
- 2:48:34picked her up and stole her. Not to mention they knew that
- 2:48:37she was on multiple medications, that she needed a feeding tube,
- 2:48:39that she needed to take multiple medications.
- 2:48:40She did a sleep apnea machine. So everyone was assuming that
- 2:48:43Gypsy Rose was probably also dead because all those things
- 2:48:45were also in the house. So it's coming new.
- 2:48:48There were two victims on their hands.
- 2:48:49But yes. So by the time the murder
- 2:48:53happened, I had moved already. I'd left Aurora, MO for St.
- 2:48:56Louis. Missouri and was living there
- 2:48:59and when one of my friends who knew Dee Dee came up to, like,
- 2:49:05get her mind off it all and everything.
- 2:49:07And I was like, what is wrong? What's going on?
- 2:49:11And, like, people don't seem right.
- 2:49:16And they told me they're like, you remember Gypsy Rose and Dee
- 2:49:19Dee? And I'm like, yeah, wheelchair
- 2:49:21cancer, you know, Hurricane Katrina.
- 2:49:23And they're like, well, Dee Dee was found dead, stabbed.
- 2:49:27And the first thing out of my mouth was, oh, my God, is Gypsy
- 2:49:30OK? And then they were like, well,
- 2:49:34brace yourself. Just how to say that because
- 2:49:38what she was. Saying coincides with that of
- 2:49:41like. You know when Dee Dee was.
- 2:49:43First found dead everyone was like where's gypsy oh God like
- 2:49:46what about gypsy you know even me who had been like eh, she's
- 2:49:51moving her legs and stuff like that, but I still I it never
- 2:49:54occurred to me that she would be fully healthy and it turns out I
- 2:49:57was right on that fully healthy and do what she did or allowed
- 2:50:03she's not fully healthy she. Has problems, but yeah, just
- 2:50:07look at the way she talks and. Walks and operates now and I'm
- 2:50:10not even trying to be a bully with that.
- 2:50:11It's just like it's just. I have eyes, you know, Wild.
- 2:50:18They were wrong on every account.
- 2:50:19So within hours of finding Dee Dee's body.
- 2:50:20Investigators from the Greene County Sheriff's Office were
- 2:50:22working. 2 cases at once a homicide.
- 2:50:24And a missing, endangered person, a dying girl out there
- 2:50:27somewhere in the dark, away from all of her machines.
- 2:50:29And that version of the case survived less than a day because
- 2:50:31the deeper detectives dug into the house on West Volunteer Way,
- 2:50:34the less sense it made, starting with the paperwork.
- 2:50:36The house was drowning in medical documents, but they just
- 2:50:38didn't line up records with conflicting birth dates and
- 2:50:40multiple versions of the same history and diagnosis that
- 2:50:43appeared and vanished from file to file.
- 2:50:44And then investigators reached Gypsy's family in Louisiana,
- 2:50:46including her father Rod. And what they heard flipped the
- 2:50:49case on its head is the missing girl wasn't a young teenager as
- 2:50:52everyone in Springfield believed.
- 2:50:53She wasn't even a minor at all. Gypsy Rose Blanchard was 23
- 2:50:55years old at this point. And piece by piece, the rest
- 2:50:58followed relatives with simmering doubts, doctors
- 2:51:00records showing clean tests, neighbors story here and
- 2:51:03inconsistency there until the picture investigators had
- 2:51:05started with just completely disappeared.
- 2:51:06So that vulnerable buying child at the center of their missing
- 2:51:08persons case didn't even exist at all.
- 2:51:10She had really never existed. And the lead detective on the
- 2:51:12case, Stanley Hancock, was a veteran investigator.
- 2:51:14And he would later say plainly that from the very beginning,
- 2:51:16something about the scene simply was not white.
- 2:51:18And Sheriff Jim Arnot would go further, calling this the most
- 2:51:20bizarre case of his career. Fair enough.
- 2:51:22So every layer they peeled back. Just watch Nancy at the Toll
- 2:51:27Podcast interview with Sheriff Arnot thinks she did a pretty
- 2:51:30darn good. Job.
- 2:51:31Something that I wish that would have been out before she did the
- 2:51:34interview, though, were those messages between what was it
- 2:51:40Mike Stanfield and I want to say it was the prosecutor, Dan
- 2:51:45Patterson, Mike Stanfield and Dan Patterson, the District
- 2:51:50Attorney. That's it was gotcha and.
- 2:51:54I honestly didn't even read too much, I think I just listened.
- 2:51:56To a couple of people. I think I've even listened to
- 2:51:58maybe you do a video on it or something.
- 2:52:00I didn't read. Yeah, I read your mom got the
- 2:52:03FOIA on those and I read them all out on my channel.
- 2:52:07Because she's so generous. A bit more.
- 2:52:10Do you remember a little bit more about?
- 2:52:13Well. I do.
- 2:52:14Apparent like. You.
- 2:52:16Would I guess from the emails there seems.
- 2:52:18To be deep trust between Mike Stanfield and Dan Patterson
- 2:52:23because Mike would just e-mail Dan and be like, hey, I've went
- 2:52:29through the medical records and pulled out the pertinent parts
- 2:52:32and put aside the stuff that don't matter to go over with
- 2:52:36you. Can I show you it?
- 2:52:38And then Dan would ignore him for a while and then just be
- 2:52:41like, yeah, sure. And yeah, it seemed like they
- 2:52:49had enough. Trust between themselves, that
- 2:52:51pretty much. Whatever Mike presented him
- 2:52:54with, Dan just went with. I don't know if it's what the
- 2:52:59reason is, but that seems to be. How it went.
- 2:53:04Try not to get myself in trouble here by saying words that.
- 2:53:09You know, could get me in legal. Trouble with them, but because
- 2:53:12they're both lawyers, but yeah, it's odd.
- 2:53:15For some reason, it seems like Dan just went with whatever Mike
- 2:53:20said on this case and eventually in the end, you know, that
- 2:53:25includes hand picked evidence and eventually in the end, a
- 2:53:28plea deal. Very, very odd stuff, I must
- 2:53:33say. So on myself.
- 2:53:34Predicted the one before it and while one team dismantled.
- 2:53:37The fiction Another followed the digital trail because those
- 2:53:39Facebook posts hadn't come from nowhere.
- 2:53:40Right. So investigators traced them to
- 2:53:42an IP address, and the IP address led to Wisconsin, to a
- 2:53:44house in Big Ben, to Nicholas, go to John's house.
- 2:53:46And on the evening of June 15th, barely 24 hours after the post
- 2:53:49went up, a SWAT team surrounded the small house in Big Bent.
- 2:53:52And inside they found Go to John and Gypsy Rose Blanchard alive
- 2:53:55and completely unharmed. And when officers brought her
- 2:53:57out of that house, that young woman, all of Springfield
- 2:53:59believed was dying without her wheelchair, her feeding tube,
- 2:54:00her breathing machine, just walked, walked out on her own 2
- 2:54:04legs in the next day. Today, back in Missouri, Sheriff
- 2:54:05Arnott stood in front of cameras to update the public on the
- 2:54:08murder of DD Blanchard. And in the press conference, he
- 2:54:10said the words that turned this case into a national obsession.
- 2:54:13Gypsy Rose Blanchard, he told the room, was alive, in custody
- 2:54:16and walking without any difficulty at all.
- 2:54:18And things, he said, were not always what they appeared.
- 2:54:20So the community that had built the pink house, the neighbors,
- 2:54:23the churches, the charities, the volunteers who had poured years
- 2:54:25of love and money into this dying girl, now learned in a
- 2:54:27single news cycle that the girl had never really been sick and
- 2:54:29the saintly mother had never been honest.
- 2:54:31And the daughter was under arrest before her murder.
- 2:54:33Like he, he can't write this stuff.
- 2:54:35So there's grief and betrayal and sympathy and also rage, just
- 2:54:39all of it at once with nowhere to really land.
- 2:54:41Because if DD was the monster, her daughter helped kill her.
- 2:54:44And if Gypsy was the victim, she was also now a suspect in a
- 2:54:46homicide. So on June 15th, 2015, in
- 2:54:48separate interview rooms at the County Sheriff's Office in
- 2:54:50Wisconsin, detectives sat down with two suspects in the murder
- 2:54:53of DD Blanchard. Missouri had sent its own
- 2:54:55people. N among them were Detective
- 2:54:56Stanley Hancock, the veteran investigator who had been at the
- 2:54:58Pink House from the start. And he took the interview that
- 2:55:00mattered most, the dying girl who wasn't dying in the missing
- 2:55:03person who was now suspect, Gypsy Rose Blanchard.
- 2:55:05And Gypsy did what she had been trained over 23 years to do
- 2:55:08better than almost anyone alive. She performed.
- 2:55:11And in those first hours, she denied everything.
- 2:55:13She didn't know anything about the murder.
- 2:55:14She didn't know what had happened to her mother.
- 2:55:16And the childlike voice in the wide eyes, the the practice
- 2:55:18innocence. The same performance that had
- 2:55:20disarmed doctors and case workers and police officers for
- 2:55:22two decades was now running one last time for an audience of
- 2:55:24homicide detectives. That this audience had the crime
- 2:55:27scene and the timeline and the Facebook posts.
- 2:55:28So under pressure, the story started to shift.
- 2:55:30And she would say, yes, you know, she had been at the house
- 2:55:32during stabbing. And, and yes, she was the one
- 2:55:34who posted to the words on the shared Facebook account.
- 2:55:36But to make sure her mother was found, she would say, faster.
- 2:55:39And down the hall, Nicholas Godejean required far less
- 2:55:41effort. Godejean admitted in that flat
- 2:55:42matter of fact way of his that he had come to Springfield to
- 2:55:45kill Dee Dee Blanchard. Guy doesn't play hard to get,
- 2:55:46tell you what. And he just walked detectives
- 2:55:48through the night step by step. And he told them something that
- 2:55:50would shape both prosecutions to come.
- 2:55:52Because before he did it, he said he asked Gypsy one
- 2:55:54question, which was, was she sure she wanted him to kill her
- 2:55:57mother? And Gypsy, he said, answered
- 2:55:59yes, I used to take a medication.
- 2:56:02Yeah, no shit, she said. Yes.
- 2:56:03I mean, she got him out there was this.
- 2:56:06In my head OK, and it somehow went as.
- 2:56:07Part of myself. OK, so when detectives brought
- 2:56:09Gouda Jones account back to Gypsy's interview room, the last
- 2:56:11of any. Performance she was trying to do
- 2:56:12just kind of fell away in what came out of her next hour.
- 2:56:14After hour, in careful chronological detail, was not a
- 2:56:17confession so much as a life story.
- 2:56:18No one in that room was prepared to hear the wheelchair she never
- 2:56:20needed, the feeding tube in a stomach that actually worked,
- 2:56:23the medications, the surgeries, the shaved head falsified ages.
- 2:56:25The doctors, the charities, the chains on the bed.
- 2:56:27The detectives had walked in expecting to interview either a
- 2:56:29traumatized kidnapping victim or a cold blooded killer.
- 2:56:31But they kind of found themselves singing across from
- 2:56:33both at once. Investigators would spend weeks
- 2:56:35verifying what she told them, pulling the Louisiana records,
- 2:56:37re interviewing the doctors, confirming detail after detail.
- 2:56:40And the remarkable thing, given the source, is how much of it
- 2:56:42checked out. So the girl who had lived her
- 2:56:44whole life inside of a lie was about the abuse, largely telling
- 2:56:47the truth. And in the meantime, the story
- 2:56:49just detonated. Within days, it was national
- 2:56:51news, and within weeks, it was international.
- 2:56:53And obviously, you know, you can understand why because it
- 2:56:55basically broke the one rule most crime stories follow.
- 2:56:57And it basically refused to give people a side.
- 2:56:59The murdered woman, the Saint, the devoted mother, the charity
- 2:57:01darling revealed as one of the most prolific child abusers
- 2:57:04anyone had ever heard of, and the sick girl she'd exhibited to
- 2:57:06the world for two decades was healthy, grown and complicit in
- 2:57:09murder. So the public did what the
- 2:57:10detectives had done and what the doctors and neighbors and
- 2:57:12charities had done before them, and they looked at Gypsy Rose
- 2:57:14Blanchard and tried to figure out what they were looking at or
- 2:57:17what they would do in that situation.
- 2:57:18And that question was about to become the central problem for
- 2:57:20the state of Missouri because sympathy is one thing and
- 2:57:22obviously the law is another. So the state of Missouri now had
- 2:57:25two people in custody for the murder of DD Blanchard.
- 2:57:27And on paper, the charges started in the same place, first
- 2:57:29degree murder. But where they ended could not
- 2:57:30have been more different. Now Gypsy's court appointed
- 2:57:32defense team went to work and their case wasn't built in the
- 2:57:34courtroom, it was built in the file rooms of Louisiana
- 2:57:36hospitals because remember the medical records Dee Dee claimed
- 2:57:39Katrina destroyed existed. And now for the first time in
- 2:57:42Gypsy's life, someone with subpoena power went and actually
- 2:57:44got them. And what came back was a paper
- 2:57:46trail of the entire fraud that her mother committed with a
- 2:57:48clean test and negative biopsies and contradictory histories and
- 2:57:51decades of documented provable abuse inflicted on the defendant
- 2:57:54by the victim. And then there was one more
- 2:57:56piece of evidence and that was the the simplest 1 imaginable.
- 2:57:58And in her first year in the county jail did something that
- 2:58:00tells you exactly how much they understood about evading a
- 2:58:02murder investigation. And the amendment was that
- 2:58:07evidence of freedom and Greene County.
- 2:58:10Prosecutor Dan Patterson looked at the file and.
- 2:58:12Said essentially 2 honest things at once.
- 2:58:14First, this was legally a first degree murder planned for a
- 2:58:18year, facilitated in detail, and he believed he could win the
- 2:58:22conviction and put Gypsy away for life.
- 2:58:24But second, he did not believe that would be just, so he
- 2:58:28offered a deal. I've seen a few people on the
- 2:58:31comments say something about provable abuse.
- 2:58:33I mean, yeah, I mean. You can't really prove a lot of
- 2:58:38it, and a lot of it, she wasn't even saying to Nick that she was
- 2:58:42being abused really, You know, like she hardly.
- 2:58:46Says it like. She just says to him, my mom
- 2:58:50won't help. US.
- 2:58:52Get a house and income and be together.
- 2:58:56She's being controlling. I mean, yeah.
- 2:59:02I don't. Know, ma'am, I don't know.
- 2:59:06Second degree murder, 10 years, the minimum the charge.
- 2:59:08Allowed so on July 5th, 2016, Gypsy Rose Blanchard stood in a.
- 2:59:11Springfield courtroom and pleaded guilty to the second
- 2:59:13degree murder of her mother. She admitted her role in
- 2:59:15planning the killing and she was sentenced to 10 years in the
- 2:59:17Missouri Department of Corrections.
- 2:59:19And with everything she'd already served counting toward
- 2:59:20it. So one year, almost to the day
- 2:59:22after police found Deedee's body, Gypsy Rose's case was
- 2:59:24closed and Nicholas Godejan's took longer and ended much, much
- 2:59:27worse. Prosecutors offered Godejean
- 2:59:29idea as well, but he would turn it down because he'd watched
- 2:59:31Gypsy get 10 years and he believed a jury hearing the full
- 2:59:33story, the abuse, the manipulation, the Dimona videos,
- 2:59:36his own diagnosed vulnerabilities might see him as
- 2:59:38something less than a first degree murderer and might give
- 2:59:40him something closer to what she got.
- 2:59:41But in November of 2018, go to John stood trial for first
- 2:59:44degree murder and the star witness against him was Gypsy
- 2:59:46Rose Blanchard. And I understand Gypsy did
- 2:59:48something that still divides people who study this case.
- 2:59:50She witnessed before him. She testified that the plan was
- 2:59:52real and that. She said the star witness.
- 2:59:57Against him was Gypsy Rose Blanchard.
- 2:59:59Didn't she witness for him? I want to say she did.
- 3:00:03Anyone in the comments remember? I'm pretty sure she was called.
- 3:00:07By his. People and she wrote in.
- 3:00:11Both her book and her emails that testifying for him, that
- 3:00:16she was the one who planned it, blah blah, blah, was her her
- 3:00:21form of redemption for herself and she felt done after that.
- 3:00:25Yeah, I think you're right. I think you're right on that.
- 3:00:28I'm pretty sure. Yeah.
- 3:00:30Snowflakes issues. For no misbehavances.
- 3:00:33No, it was against him. This, Mallory says.
- 3:00:36I also thought it was on his defense.
- 3:00:38Ruth Carroll, yes, for him. I guess we're going to have to
- 3:00:41look at that after this and we'll I yeah, we'll have to
- 3:00:44double check. We got we got both answers.
- 3:00:47In the comments we'll try and get a definitive.
- 3:00:49Answer for y'all. She had pushed it and that she
- 3:00:52talked him into it and his defense argued.
- 3:00:54Exactly what you expect a cognitively impaired man.
- 3:00:56An IQ in the low 80s, programmed for months by the only person
- 3:00:59who had ever really loved him. So the jury deliberated and the
- 3:01:02for years said no, because whatever had been whispered into
- 3:01:06Nicholas Gojan's ear over those months, he was the one who got
- 3:01:08on the. Bus and he was the one who took.
- 3:01:09The knife and he was the one who stood over a sleeping 48 year
- 3:01:12old woman and her 17 times. And the law had a name for that
- 3:01:16and the jury used it. And it was first degree murder.
- 3:01:18So he got life in prison with no parole plus 25 years for armed
- 3:01:21criminal action. And he was sent to Potosi
- 3:01:23Correctional Center, a maximum security prison where Missouri
- 3:01:25houses its most serious offenders.
- 3:01:27And he has appealed his conviction repeatedly, but every
- 3:01:29appeal has failed. So at this point, he will be in
- 3:01:31prison for the rest of his life. So in 2016, Gypsy Rose Blanchard
- 3:01:34arrived at Chillicothe Correctional Center, a woman's
- 3:01:36prison in northern Missouri, to serve out her sentence.
- 3:01:38And also immediately she did something quietly remarkable.
- 3:01:41She sat down at a prison computer, and she looked up what
- 3:01:43had happened to her, because for the first time in her life, no
- 3:01:45one was. Is that true?
- 3:01:47And she sat down in a prison computer and looked up what
- 3:01:49happened to her. I've never heard that before.
- 3:01:52I'd. Never heard that before I.
- 3:01:53Listened to this and I was like, I mean, I'm not saying.
- 3:01:56It's not true, but I've. Never heard it and it doesn't
- 3:01:59sound right. I've never heard that.
- 3:02:02Also I just did a quick Google and Google says that she was.
- 3:02:06A witness against him, like Misbehaven is saying.
- 3:02:10I thought sure that she was called Maya's defense somehow,
- 3:02:15but I don't know. I must be remembering something
- 3:02:18wrong. We'll have to go through look.
- 3:02:20Through like the actual. Document see if there's anything
- 3:02:23that is and isn't 'cause I know it like especially.
- 3:02:25It was like the Google AI overview.
- 3:02:27I know that. Yeah, that's often wrong.
- 3:02:30So it might be pulling from like an article or something that.
- 3:02:33Got it wrong or whatever, but I don't know it.
- 3:02:38I feel like I remember there was something controversial about
- 3:02:41the way she was called. We'll figure it out and we'll
- 3:02:43let y'all know. Monitoring her screen, you know,
- 3:02:46to a certain degree because there's obviously prison guards,
- 3:02:48but not. Like looking over her shoulder
- 3:02:49and no one was squeezing. Her hand to keep her quiet.
- 3:02:52And there, in clinical language, Gypsy read the textbook
- 3:02:54description on Munchausen syndrome by proxy, the
- 3:02:56perpetrator profile, the victim profile and the patterns.
- 3:02:58And she also discovered that it wasn't just her and that it
- 3:03:00actually happened to other children too, and that none of
- 3:03:02it was her fault. And that somewhere in the
- 3:03:04literature on the page describing the perpetrators, it
- 3:03:06was her own mother. And it kind of reframes
- 3:03:08everything about how Gypsy talked about prison because when
- 3:03:10ABC's 2020 sat down with her in January of 2018, she said the
- 3:03:13same thing that became this case is defining quote.
- 3:03:15And now you can. And here at the way she meant
- 3:03:16it, saying quote the prison that I was living in before with my
- 3:03:19mom, I couldn't walk, I couldn't eat, I couldn't have friends
- 3:03:21over here. I feel like I'm freer in prison
- 3:03:23than living with my mom because now I'm allowed to just live
- 3:03:26like a normal woman. She was.
- 3:03:27The prison had a schedule and rules and locked doors, but it
- 3:03:30also had solid food and friends her own age and her real
- 3:03:32birthday. So it was.
- 3:03:34Honestly, an upgrade for her. And while Gypsy served her time
- 3:03:36inside, outside she was becoming famous.
- 3:03:38And in May 20 minutes was that evidence of freedom.
- 3:03:40And Greene County Prosecutor Dan Patterson looked at the file and
- 3:03:43said essentially 2 honest things at 1:00.
- 3:03:45OK, it's going back over it. Sleep in, upgrade.
- 3:03:48OK, this is the last clip. Last clip y'all, we're in the
- 3:03:52homestretch. And I'll let y'all know.
- 3:03:54Also, she just repeated that. You know.
- 3:03:57Gypsy finally got to. Prison and suddenly had solid
- 3:04:01food and all that, Gypsy said in her videos.
- 3:04:04She loved gumbo, she loved pancakes, you know, blah blah
- 3:04:07blah. She she was having food.
- 3:04:09Yeah, Royal mashed potatoes. Y'all talked about BBQ.
- 3:04:16For her and while Gypsy served her.
- 3:04:18Time inside. Outside, she was.
- 3:04:20Becoming famous and in May 20. 17 When HBO aired Mommy Dead and
- 3:04:25Dearest, a documentary widely praised as a definitive account
- 3:04:27of the case. That November, Doctor Phil
- 3:04:29dedicated A2 part special to the story.
- 3:04:31And in March of 2019 came the big one, The ACT, a Hulu limited
- 3:04:34series dramatizing Gypsy's life with Joey King as Gypsy and
- 3:04:36Patricia Arquette as DD. And it drew millions of viewers.
- 3:04:39And Arquette won the Emmy for her portrayal of DD.
- 3:04:41Blanchard and Gypsy watched The ACT from prison, and she
- 3:04:43described the experience of seeing her own life impressed
- 3:04:45and dramatized for an audience is something so strange that
- 3:04:47English didn't quite have a word for it.
- 3:04:49And the fame came looking for her, too, just one letter at a
- 3:04:51time. And prison pen pal mail poured
- 3:04:53in. And in 2017, a young Texan named
- 3:04:55Ken Urker wrote to her. You know, As for the ACT thing,
- 3:04:59like she said, like you know that she didn't like it.
- 3:05:03And that they didn't give her any money or anything, but
- 3:05:05that's. Another thing.
- 3:05:06I mean, I know she. Didn't say anything about that
- 3:05:07really there. That's another thing, when you
- 3:05:10look at the prison emails, the people that did the ACT actually
- 3:05:15set up like some kind of a fund for her, a trust fund of
- 3:05:19$50,000. I believe it was Nick Acosta,
- 3:05:21the producer of the ACT Gypsy was talking.
- 3:05:24About wanting to sue them for using her name without
- 3:05:28permission and blah blah blah and being mad about the
- 3:05:31inaccuracies. She was all kinds of mad about
- 3:05:34the ACT at 1st, and then Nick Acosta reached out to her in a
- 3:05:37prison e-mail and offered her a trust fund of $50,000 and then
- 3:05:43she got pretty cool with it. Wonder if Nick got anything out
- 3:05:47of that? Probably not.
- 3:05:48No, no as. Far as I.
- 3:05:51Know no. If he did, I feel like it would
- 3:05:54have leaked. Or we would.
- 3:05:55Have heard about it in some way like.
- 3:05:57I, I can't say definitively no, but I just, there's no evidence,
- 3:06:03no fair. I definitely don't have any
- 3:06:05interest in searching up Nick's prison emails because.
- 3:06:09He's already there. He is where he's at personally,
- 3:06:13I believe. Unfortunate.
- 3:06:15All that's unfortunate. I think.
- 3:06:16That he's where he needs to be. While I think that the trial was
- 3:06:22unfair, I'm not a huge proponent of the new trial thing.
- 3:06:27I just feel like Missouri could. Use a.
- 3:06:30Resources in a better way. I just think Gypsy should have
- 3:06:35got the same sentence. I don't.
- 3:06:39I'm not. Upset about Nick's.
- 3:06:42I know a lot of people disagree, and I'm OK with that.
- 3:06:44It doesn't bother me when people disagree.
- 3:06:46It's totally fine. Yeah.
- 3:06:48I just don't think the. I don't think the way that he
- 3:06:53got the sentence is right. I think that the trial was a
- 3:06:55little weird, a little wonky, and that I don't think that,
- 3:06:57yeah. But like you said, I think he's
- 3:07:01where he deserves to be. And I don't think that a mental
- 3:07:05hospital is going to be a better place for him, that's for damn
- 3:07:07sure. In prison, you can have some
- 3:07:11senses of normalcy. And he's also training puppies.
- 3:07:14So that's always, you know, that's a small bright side on
- 3:07:18the otherwise situation that has very little bright sides, you
- 3:07:23know, from what we've heard. He's pretty well settled.
- 3:07:26Where he is as good as you can be, no so.
- 3:07:31After watching the HBO documentary.
- 3:07:33And letters became phone calls, and phone calls became visits
- 3:07:35and during one of. Those visits in 2018?
- 3:07:36Ken actually proposed. And Gypsy said yes, it was her
- 3:07:39first engagement conducted entirely inside a prison.
- 3:07:41And by 2019, under the weight of public scrutiny and outside
- 3:07:43pressure, it fell apart. And then in 2020, came another
- 3:07:46letter public scrutiny and outside pressures that, in a
- 3:07:50nice way of saying Fancy Micelli leaked to the.
- 3:07:54Press and then they got mad and then Fancy cursed her out and it
- 3:07:58was. The whole thing.
- 3:08:01Or. At least that's what they say.
- 3:08:02Who knows? I mean, I'm sure there was more
- 3:08:04that went into it, but. Anyway, and this one.
- 3:08:06Was from Ryan Anderson a special?
- 3:08:07Education teacher from Louisiana and it was the same arc, you
- 3:08:10know, letters, calls, visits, love.
- 3:08:11And this one went. All the way.
- 3:08:12And in the summer of 2022, Gypsy Rose Blanchard was married in a
- 3:08:15small ceremony inside the correctional center.
- 3:08:16So it was a prison wedding covered breathlessly by media
- 3:08:19that had never stopped watching. And in September of 2023, the
- 3:08:21Missouri Parole Board confirmed what the math already said.
- 3:08:23Gypsy had served the required portion of her 10 year sentence,
- 3:08:26roughly 8 1/2 years counting from her arrest and parole was
- 3:08:28granted. And on the morning of December
- 3:08:2928th, 2020, three Gypsy walked out at the Chillicothe
- 3:08:32Correctional Center, a free woman, into the arms of her
- 3:08:34husband and into something no parole board could have prepared
- 3:08:37her for. Within hours, she posted her
- 3:08:38first selfie because the audience was already waiting for
- 3:08:40her. I mean, people have watched
- 3:08:41eight years worth of documentaries and dramatizations
- 3:08:43and Doctor Phil specials. So she had garnered a fan base.
- 3:08:46And in the final days of 2023, that fan base got what it
- 3:08:48wanted. And Gypsy Rose Blanchard stepped
- 3:08:50out of the screen and just into the public.
- 3:08:52And the numbers were pretty staggering because before her
- 3:08:53release, Gypsy's Instagram sat at just over 1,000,000
- 3:08:55followers. Within weeks, it had nearly
- 3:08:57quadrupled to Four point Ruth. He's actually not an orphan.
- 3:09:01His mom, unfortunately, did pass away.
- 3:09:05But his? Dad's still alive.
- 3:09:06He's coming to our comment sections a couple times.
- 3:09:09So our live stream chats, so 7 million.
- 3:09:14So the Internet just came calling immediately.
- 3:09:15And Good Morning America sat down with her within the first
- 3:09:17week of January. In a headline interview with
- 3:09:19Deborah Roberts. And then The View and CNN, just
- 3:09:21everyone. And it was in that GMA interview
- 3:09:23that Gypsy gave the line that would define her public defense,
- 3:09:25looking back at the murder and saying simply that she never
- 3:09:27wanted her mother dead. She wanted out of her situation
- 3:09:29and she believed at the time. Don't think that's really true.
- 3:09:33I personally think that at least according to the evidence, it
- 3:09:36seems like at least at the. Time she might have had some
- 3:09:39kind of almost a sexual attraction, maybe to the idea of
- 3:09:44murdering her mother. Perhaps I don't want to say
- 3:09:47that. 100% definitively. Well, I mean, we know what they
- 3:09:52did in bed where they could see a Didi's bed.
- 3:09:56So like I said, I don't want to say anything 100% definitively,
- 3:10:01but you get the vibes you. Know yeah who knows where she's
- 3:10:06at with that today but it happened so.
- 3:10:11That this. Was the only way out, and
- 3:10:12meanwhile Lifetime had timed it shot perfectly, as Hollywood
- 3:10:15does, and on January 5th. 2024. Eight days after her release,
- 3:10:18the network premiered the prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose
- 3:10:20Blanchard, six hours of Gypsy telling her own story filmed
- 3:10:23inside the prison on the eve of her parole hearing.
- 3:10:25And by lifetime Zone account, it reached 9.8 million viewers
- 3:10:27across its linear and digital platforms, the network's best
- 3:10:29non fiction performance in two years.
- 3:10:30And this is also the series where Gypsy revealed publicly
- 3:10:32for the first time the BB gun story you heard earlier.
- 3:10:34And her own account told her own way to an audience of millions.
- 3:10:37And nothing like this trajectory had ever happened.
- 3:10:39One week she's a Missouri inmate, and next she's one of
- 3:10:41the most talked about people on the Internet, a convicted
- 3:10:43accomplice to murder, feeded, followed and photographed like a
- 3:10:47modern day pop star. And the public's response was,
- 3:10:49to put it gently, complicated. There was enormous, genuine
- 3:10:52sympathy. And people had watched the act
- 3:10:53and they knew about the feeding tube and the chains and they
- 3:10:56were rooting for her. But there was also raw
- 3:10:57fascination of what does a person look like on the other
- 3:10:59side of a life like that? And underneath both of those
- 3:11:02from the first week, there was a quieter current of discomfort
- 3:11:04because a woman was dead and the person who helped planet was
- 3:11:08doing red carpets. And Gypsy herself said all the
- 3:11:11right things. She wanted peace and quiet and
- 3:11:13normalcy. She reunited with her father
- 3:11:15Rod, the man her mother had completely erased, and his wife
- 3:11:17Christy in Louisiana. And it was a real reunion and
- 3:11:20long overdue. But the cameras followed her
- 3:11:21down to the Bayou too, so normalcy was never actually on
- 3:11:23the table for her. Lifetime had already Green left
- 3:11:25follow up series about her post prison life before January was
- 3:11:28over. Because Hollywood, as we know,
- 3:11:29knows no boundaries. In Hollywood was about to get an
- 3:11:31incredible season of content because the marriage at the
- 3:11:33center of the fairy tale ending the prison wedding, the husband
- 3:11:36waiting at the gate began falling apart almost
- 3:11:37immediately. And by late March 2024, three
- 3:11:39months after her release, Gypsy announced on Facebook that she
- 3:11:41and Myne Anderson had separated and that she moved in with her
- 3:11:44parents. And in early April, she
- 3:11:45underwent A rhinoplasty documented for the cameras,
- 3:11:47describing the surgery as a reclamation, a body finally on
- 3:11:50her own terms, which Julio Queen, you know.
- 3:11:52And days later, on April 8th, she filed for divorce.
- 3:11:54And within weeks, an old name resurfaced, the first fiance,
- 3:11:57the 2017 letter. So I don't know about y'all, but
- 3:12:00I feel like we kind of got all the important stuff.
- 3:12:02I don't really care too much better than that.
- 3:12:05We have the last, the first couple months out of prison,
- 3:12:09Misbehavin just said. What's the point of this life if
- 3:12:13y'all aren't going to correct? This stuff but.
- 3:12:15The thing is, we've been going for over 3 hours now and we've
- 3:12:19corrected so much. Like you know, I said girl, you
- 3:12:23need to go back and rewatch. But also like, I'm not sure if
- 3:12:27you caught the hair. Corrected stuff.
- 3:12:30Since you've been in here, I'm a little confused.
- 3:12:32I I. Think she just caught some of
- 3:12:34the last. Part where like, you know, it's
- 3:12:36like we've corrected so much that.
- 3:12:38We're just kind of letting her ramble to try and get through it
- 3:12:41because we've been on so long. Yeah.
- 3:12:44So anyway, that's pretty much that again, no?
- 3:12:49No hate to Chris, I think she did the best that she knew how.
- 3:12:52Like you said, I do think she probably had a team that kind of
- 3:12:55found it and went over most of it for her.
- 3:12:57And, you know, just going by the mainstream sources and that's a
- 3:13:02lot of that's another thing. A lot of people don't like to
- 3:13:04take YouTube channels, the sources or anything like that,
- 3:13:08you know, and, and obviously my mom has a bunch of like
- 3:13:11documents that you could actually physically like look at
- 3:13:13yourself. But most people aren't going to
- 3:13:16get that just from, you know, just a, just a small search on
- 3:13:21the Internet or, you know, whatever.
- 3:13:22So yeah, I. Hope that.
- 3:13:25She's able to, you know, find the truth.
- 3:13:27And if she. If she's able to see this, maybe
- 3:13:32the stuff that we said will help point her in the right
- 3:13:34directions. I'm hoping so.
- 3:13:37I'm hoping that she watches. If she doesn't, that's OK.
- 3:13:40I'm hoping that she's at least able to.
- 3:13:41Find some. Of the full yes and at the end
- 3:13:44of the day, not everybody's going to agree with us.
- 3:13:46We're just trying to spur them and I don't even know 100.
- 3:13:50Percent what I believe about every little aspect of the
- 3:13:54crime. Gypsy as a person, anything, you
- 3:13:56know, we're all complicated individuals.
- 3:13:59I definitely don't trust the narrative that's been put forth.
- 3:14:03And for like the eighth time in this live stream, I'm going to
- 3:14:06say again is that there's his side.
- 3:14:08Her side and the. Truth.
- 3:14:09And it's somewhere in the middle.
- 3:14:11And you know, we'll never know. I am hoping.
- 3:14:19I don't know. I don't really.
- 3:14:20I'm never really going to believe.
- 3:14:21Anything that comes out of Gypsy's mouth.
- 3:14:22I'm excited to see this pretend. Podcast, I don't have too much
- 3:14:27to talk about, you know what to say about it.
- 3:14:29It wasn't worth, you know, doing a whole live stream about or
- 3:14:31anything like that. You know, I'm hopeful.
- 3:14:35You know, my mother and I did speak with Javier and he's not
- 3:14:43someone to just, in my opinion, just.
- 3:14:46Take what? Everybody.
- 3:14:47You know what? One person has to say.
- 3:14:49And just like not do anything with it, you know what I mean?
- 3:14:52I think he's doing his due diligence.
- 3:14:54He is looking into the foyers. I don't know.
- 3:14:58I think he seems like a good dude and I'm excited to see what
- 3:15:02he does and. You know.
- 3:15:04Maybe there's things I'll agree with, maybe there's things I
- 3:15:06won't agree with, but you know, we're not going to know until
- 3:15:09the 11th when it starts to come out.
- 3:15:11So I guess they for that. So yeah.
- 3:15:16And stop talking shit y'all like just let them figure it out and
- 3:15:21they have video first at least let them post the video and then
- 3:15:24talk shit, you know, because none of us know what it's going
- 3:15:26to be like. And I talk to them, you know so
- 3:15:28people allowed to feel how they feel, you know whatever.
- 3:15:32I'm not saying they can't talk shit.
- 3:15:33I just people are a. Little too quick to get.
- 3:15:36Angry at people? Just like, you know, who knows
- 3:15:40what it's going to be like? Yeah, your feelings are valid,
- 3:15:42but I don't know. Stop being so mean.
- 3:15:46Don't need to be mean to them. So anyway, I don't know.
- 3:15:50So that's pretty much all I have to say.
- 3:15:56I don't know do. You have anything?
- 3:15:57Else to add to it. Millennial.
- 3:16:00Not really, I think. We, you know, we covered
- 3:16:02everything. As good as we could that it was
- 3:16:05a really. Long live because that was a lot
- 3:16:07we had a lot to say at the beginning.
- 3:16:09We were stopping every few seconds to correct this and that
- 3:16:13and discuss our tone and everything.
- 3:16:15At the end we got a little like just kind of letting it go
- 3:16:18through because we we done said enough about it.
- 3:16:21But yeah, I just, I really hope I I like her style and the way
- 3:16:26she delivers. I just hope that she's able to
- 3:16:29do a little more research and maybe the things that we said
- 3:16:34will help her have some directions.
- 3:16:36And, you know, at the end of the day, if she looks at everything
- 3:16:39and she still feels how she feels, that's her right.
- 3:16:42You know, we might not feel the same way, but just whatever.
- 3:16:45Yeah. No, absolutely.
- 3:16:46She, I mean, hopefully at least she does the research and then
- 3:16:49she gives her own conclusion on her own instead of just you.
- 3:16:51Know yeah if if she goes through all the information and then
- 3:16:56still feels how she feels. Like, I might not agree with
- 3:16:58her, but I'll be like, well, you know, at least you reviewed all
- 3:17:01the sources before you come to your conclusion.
- 3:17:04You know, a conclusion based on a fraction of the information
- 3:17:08isn't worth a lot in any kind of context.
- 3:17:12Yeah, absolutely. OK, Well I'm going to go through
- 3:17:16some of the chats or not the chats, but.
- 3:17:18The starred stuff over here that I missed, so if you'd like to
- 3:17:23get out of here. Thank you so much, Millie, for
- 3:17:26coming up and hanging out. Awesome.
- 3:17:29Thank you. Thank you everyone in the chat.
- 3:17:30Have a good night. Thanks.
- 3:17:32Have a good night, Millie. OK, so I'm going to go and I'm
- 3:17:37going. To read awesome stuff and I
- 3:17:39will. Say this right here real quick.
- 3:17:41So I don't want to involve Millie in my personal opinions
- 3:17:44because I don't know how she feels and everything obsession.
- 3:17:48I get that. I think he might delve a little
- 3:17:51bit into some of the problematic stuff that the anti gypsy side
- 3:17:55has done. I don't really know.
- 3:17:57Again, I've at least spoken to him a little bit.
- 3:18:00But I'm sorry, I agree, some people are fucking obsessed and
- 3:18:04it's kind of weird how obsessed some people are.
- 3:18:07I mean, it is what it is. I've had more issues with people
- 3:18:10on the anti gypsy side than I have with gypsy or people on the
- 3:18:13pro gypsy side. There's some people that are on
- 3:18:17the anti gypsy side that are like worse in my opinion.
- 3:18:22I don't think that we should and I'm.
- 3:18:25Not saying that's all at you, by the way.
- 3:18:27Sorry, I forgot to look at the name Glamom's Backup.
- 3:18:30Yeah. And that's not at you, by the
- 3:18:32way. It was just something that I was
- 3:18:33thinking of. But yeah, I don't know.
- 3:18:39I don't. I feel like a lot of times
- 3:18:41people will be like, oh. Well, this person did this.
- 3:18:45But at least they didn't murder their mother.
- 3:18:46And it's like, is the bar really that low?
- 3:18:49I don't know. Some of these people kind of
- 3:18:51suck, and I know some of these people personally.
- 3:18:53So anyway, that's beside the point.
- 3:18:58So I'm going to go ahead and go through the Super chats again.
- 3:19:00That wasn't like anything like insulting.
- 3:19:02Towards anybody in particular? It's just like just how I feel.
- 3:19:07You can't pay me to talk to half the people in this community
- 3:19:10anymore after some. Of the shit I've seen and been.
- 3:19:12Through but nobody here. Everyone here that's in this
- 3:19:15chat is fine. So anyway, OK, thank you so
- 3:19:20much. I still don't understand how
- 3:19:22these YouTube gifts work, so I'm very thankful for them.
- 3:19:26I just, I just don't know what they mean.
- 3:19:27So thank you so much. For the for the jewels.
- 3:19:31Thank you so and beauty and then 1970s Gen.
- 3:19:34Xer moderates gifted 5 Into the Weeds podcast memberships.
- 3:19:37Thank you so much for that. We always appreciate you 1970
- 3:19:41and he's a very nice guy, just so y'all know.
- 3:19:45Thank you Cherokee girl. It's very nice to see you here
- 3:19:47again and thank you again. Cherokee girl made it to
- 3:19:51YouTube. Should oh made it YouTube should
- 3:19:54be fired. No notice.
- 3:19:55Oh yeah. I feel like I don't get
- 3:19:57notifications for most of the people that I watch either.
- 3:19:59So it's it's crazy. Maybe you could UN notify
- 3:20:03yourself and then click it again.
- 3:20:04I don't know if that's going to happen.
- 3:20:06So anyway, sorry about that. Hello.
- 3:20:12I tried to read your name. Earlier and I just my brain is
- 3:20:16not computing, but thank you so much.
- 3:20:19Thank you so much for your gift and then thank you again 1970
- 3:20:25for an additional 5 podcast memberships and then again to
- 3:20:29just a lot T for you. I think I got it whoopsie.
- 3:20:32My brain's kind of not firing on all cylinders, but anyway, thank
- 3:20:36you so much I. Appreciate it.
- 3:20:39Thank you. We're going to have to put
- 3:20:40something on our on our membership thing.
- 3:20:43There is a little bit of a back catalog, nothing too crazy.
- 3:20:46There's a funny little Jeopardy game that we did, but we don't
- 3:20:50talk to most of the people that were on there anymore anyway.
- 3:20:55Silver Star, thank you again so much.
- 3:20:57I really appreciate it. Toxic Barbie thank.
- 3:21:00You so much. For the 550 jewels, I talked to
- 3:21:02her every once in a while on Instagram.
- 3:21:05I'm bad at talking. To you even like people that I
- 3:21:07know in my real life, so so I always I really enjoy talking a
- 3:21:11toxic Barbie. She's very sweet.
- 3:21:14And then again. Josh thought, Oh my God, I'm
- 3:21:18going to stop trying to say your name because I'm sounding really
- 3:21:20stupid right now. But anyway, thank you guys all
- 3:21:24so much. I appreciate every single last
- 3:21:26one of you and a big thank you to Millie for showing up and
- 3:21:30also watch some of our other videos.
- 3:21:32I really appreciate people being here for Gypsy.
- 3:21:34But it's already a done deal. She served her time.
- 3:21:37She's not going back. But we also cover some missing
- 3:21:40persons cases and I feel like that's a lot more important.
- 3:21:43Or some unsolved cold cases. So we're working hard.
- 3:21:47Like I said separately, I'm working on a Chris Hansen
- 3:21:51expose. I ran into him too many times.
- 3:21:56A crime con. It's not even funny.
- 3:21:57And after doing more research, because I knew about this stuff
- 3:22:00from a few years ago, but it's so much worse than I thought it
- 3:22:03was. Oh my God, it's so much worse.
- 3:22:04So anyway, working on that and something with the Flying
- 3:22:08Spaghetti Monster. So anyway, if you're.
- 3:22:11Interested in that maybe? Consider subscribing to my
- 3:22:13YouTube channel that I haven't uploaded anything to, but I'm
- 3:22:16always in the comments sections of random things so you'll find
- 3:22:19me eventually. Allure flowers not to plug
- 3:22:21myself, there's nothing on there yet.
- 3:22:23So anyway, thank you guys all so much, I really love it and
- 3:22:27appreciate every single one of you.
- 3:22:28I'm going to shut up now. We're at 3 hours and 22 minutes.
