- 0:00Speaker 1: What's better than two hours of Marc Simone?
- 0:03Speaker 2: Three!
- 0:04Speaker 1: The Marc Simone Show.
- 0:05Speaker 3: Now nine till noon weekdays.
- 0:10Speaker 4: 710WOR.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Hey, welcome to hour number two. Yes, right, if you
- 0:16Speaker 1: just joined us, you missed the first hour. Remember, it's
- 0:18Speaker 1: nine to noon every day. Three hours every day. Nine
- 0:21Speaker 1: to noon. So, a lot to get to this morning.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Just minutes ago it concluded, but it was... Big press conference.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Kathy Hochul and Letitia James. Governor Kathy Hochul on the
- 0:35Speaker 1: Cornell alleged rape case. About two years too late, but
- 0:40Speaker 1: she's on it now.
- 0:41Speaker 5: Why?
- 0:42Speaker 1: Because it's election time and she needs to look like
- 0:45Speaker 1: she's busy, like she's doing something, like she's taking action.
- 0:50Speaker 1: This rape took place about two years ago. This all
- 0:53Speaker 1: went to her district attorney. These district attorneys, that's a
- 0:56Speaker 1: state job. The district attorneys work for her. So it
- 1:00Speaker 1: was her district attorney that decided not to prosecute a
- 1:04Speaker 1: year ago. This is all her on her watch. Now
- 1:07Speaker 1: she's snapping into action, acting like she is going to
- 1:12Speaker 1: take action. She is going to get to the bottom
- 1:14Speaker 1: of this. Two years too late, but she's going to
- 1:16Speaker 1: get to the bottom of this. And remember, she's up
- 1:19Speaker 1: for reelection and Letitia James is up for reelection. In fact,
- 1:23Speaker 1: in 32 days, you can vote Letitia James out of office.
- 1:27Speaker 1: You can also get rid of Kathy Hochul. There's a
- 1:30Speaker 1: very fine Republican candidate for Attorney General who you should
- 1:34Speaker 1: vote for. And, of course, you should vote for Bruce Blakeman.
- 1:38Speaker 1: And you can get rid of Hochul and Letitia James
- 1:41Speaker 1: in 32 days. So that's why they're pretending that they're
- 1:44Speaker 1: on top of this, that they're being decisive. They'll get
- 1:48Speaker 1: to the bottom of this. It's a little silly, but
- 1:51Speaker 1: they're playing to the cameras. So, yeah, Bruce Blakeman got
- 1:55Speaker 1: a great tax plan. that would dramatically reduce taxes on
- 2:00Speaker 1: everybody in New York, especially the middle and lower incomes.
- 2:03Speaker 1: They'll get the biggest benefit. of his tax plan, everybody
- 2:07Speaker 1: applauding it.
- 2:07Speaker 6: Our budget in New York State is twice the size,
- 2:10Speaker 6: twice the size.
- 2:11Speaker 2: Of the state of Florida.
- 2:13Speaker 6: So there's a tremendous amount of fraud, waste, and abuse.
- 2:15Speaker 6: Kathy Hochul has given our taxpayer.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Money to illegal migrants.
- 2:19Speaker 2: All they have to do is claim asylum.
- 2:20Speaker 6: They get free food, free housing, free transportation, and a
- 2:23Speaker 6: free cell phone.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just wasting money. Our budget, you could cut
- 2:28Speaker 1: it 50% without any loss of services. Just stop wasting
- 2:32Speaker 1: all the money. Stop overpaying for everything. And then on
- 2:35Speaker 1: top of all that, they're charging double, triple the amount
- 2:38Speaker 1: of tax they should be charging. Then they nickel and
- 2:40Speaker 1: dime you to death with this congestion. Pricing taxes, pied-à-terre tax.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Blakeman will get rid of all of that ridiculous stuff.
- 2:47Speaker 6: Every other state is trying to get high net worth
- 2:50Speaker 6: individuals to move there. And we're chasing them out. It
- 2:53Speaker 6: doesn't make any sense. It's going to hurt the middle class.
- 2:54Speaker 6: We're going to sit down, negotiate, bargain with the legislature.
- 2:58Speaker 6: And as I said, I want tax relief.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Yeah. So vote for Bruce Blakeman 32 days from now.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Get the state back in shape. You know, Florida has
- 3:07Speaker 1: a much bigger population, much bigger population than New York.
- 3:13Speaker 1: It has more major cities than New York. And the taxes,
- 3:18Speaker 1: the budget is half of what ours is. It's half
- 3:20Speaker 1: of our budget. They just spend it carefully and wisely.
- 3:24Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 3:24Speaker 6: Immigration policy. I'm for guest worker permits, not amnesty, not citizenship.
- 3:31Speaker 6: But if you've been here for seven, eight, nine, ten
- 3:33Speaker 6: years and you're gainfully employed, you're not on welfare and
- 3:37Speaker 6: you never got in trouble. I think we should give
- 3:40Speaker 6: these people a guest worker permit.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Let them stay here. Yeah.
- 3:43Speaker 1: So Blakeman for governor. If you want to donate, go
- 3:46Speaker 1: to Blakeman for New York dot com. Blakeman for New
- 3:49Speaker 1: York dot com. Hey, by the way, by the way,
- 3:51Speaker 1: he's been for the last few months. working his tail off,
- 3:55Speaker 1: campaigning all over the place, constantly campaigning here, there, upstate, everywhere. Now,
- 4:01Speaker 1: the word is that President Trump will campaign with Bruce
- 4:06Speaker 1: Blakeman in upstate New York. You know, Trump might not
- 4:10Speaker 1: be that popular right here in New York City, but
- 4:13Speaker 1: upstate Syracuse, a few other places. In fact, there's an
- 4:17Speaker 1: event in Syracuse October 9th. It's expected that President Trump
- 4:22Speaker 1: might campaign with him Another source said President Trump considering
- 4:26Speaker 1: making additional upstate campaign stops later this month. Now, you
- 4:31Speaker 1: got these fake polls all over the place. Siena College
- 4:34Speaker 1: poll has Blakeman trailing by nine points. These are the
- 4:41Speaker 1: stupid media polls, college polls. Very, very rigged. The metrics
- 4:46Speaker 1: are all rigged. Republicans at 23 percent of the sample.
- 4:51Speaker 1: They should be 38 percent. wrong demos. They're not using
- 4:54Speaker 1: likely voters. They're using adults, which means whoever they want.
- 4:58Speaker 1: But in the real polls that the candidates use, those
- 5:01Speaker 1: are much different. Those are very expensive polls, deadly accurate.
- 5:06Speaker 1: In the real polls, Blakeman has tied her. That's why
- 5:10Speaker 1: she is now in panic, spending a fortune on attack
- 5:15Speaker 1: ads all over the place on Bruce Blakeman. If you're
- 5:18Speaker 1: watching television, you'll see these attack ads nonstop against Blakeman.
- 5:22Speaker 1: That is panic on the part of Kathy Hochul. That's
- 5:25Speaker 1: a lot of money for all those ads. Just saturating
- 5:28Speaker 1: the airwaves with them. You only do that when you're
- 5:30Speaker 1: in trouble. So she's seen the real polls. 32 days away,
- 5:34Speaker 1: you got the midterms. Same thing with the midterms. You'll
- 5:36Speaker 1: see all these polls trying to convince you that Republicans
- 5:40Speaker 1: are so far behind. The president's approval rating is so low.
- 5:44Speaker 1: That's not the case. That's not the case. You can't
- 5:47Speaker 1: really predict what will happen, but it's pretty much even
- 5:49Speaker 1: right now. Don't take it from me. Here's the CNN pollster.
- 5:52Speaker 8: In Iowa, where the Democrats have been getting really good polls,
- 5:55Speaker 8: Republicans outperformed their September polls by nine points back in 2024.
- 5:58Speaker 8: How about Ohio?
- 6:00Speaker 2: Six points.
- 6:01Speaker 1: How about Michigan?
- 6:02Speaker 2: Five points.
- 6:03Speaker 8: And I will note that the leads that the Democrats
- 6:05Speaker 8: have in all of these races right now are under
- 6:08Speaker 8: how much the GOP outperformed back in 2024. So you
- 6:10Speaker 8: look at this and you go, You know what? Maybe
- 6:14Speaker 8: we should just hold on a second here because we've
- 6:17Speaker 8: seen this dance before and it was not a dance
- 6:19Speaker 8: that Democrats like when the votes are actually cast and counted.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Yeah, the big news yesterday was Chuck Schumer suddenly saying
- 6:25Speaker 1: the GOP might steal this election. Warning everybody, the GOP
- 6:29Speaker 1: was going to steal the election. Well, if Schumer is
- 6:31Speaker 1: already making excuses for a Democratic loss, he's looked at
- 6:35Speaker 1: some private numbers too. So that tells you a lot. Hey,
- 6:39Speaker 1: good for Secretary of State Marco Rubio. who yesterday threw
- 6:43Speaker 1: Iran's foreign minister and his delegation out of the country.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Iran's foreign minister. He came to be a part of
- 6:51Speaker 1: the UN General Assembly. And we actually did give him,
- 6:55Speaker 1: we granted him a visa with severe restrictions, but he
- 6:58Speaker 1: was granted a visa and allowed to come speak at
- 7:02Speaker 1: the UN General Assembly. Well, he's still here. So Rubio
- 7:06Speaker 1: ordered them to get the hell out. Just get out
- 7:09Speaker 1: of New York and leave. By the way, Iran has
- 7:11Speaker 1: got about two weeks left and then they have absolutely
- 7:14Speaker 1: no money.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Nothing.
- 7:15Speaker 1: They're totally broke. As we mentioned yesterday, every year, UN
- 7:21Speaker 1: General Assembly, the Iranian delegation, the president, the foreign minister,
- 7:25Speaker 1: they come to New York. They take a whole bunch
- 7:27Speaker 1: of suites at the Millennium Hotel right across the street
- 7:31Speaker 1: from the UN. That's where they always stay. This year,
- 7:33Speaker 1: they could not afford a hotel room. So they all
- 7:37Speaker 1: slept at the Iranian embassy, and apparently a lot of
- 7:40Speaker 1: them are still there, but have been told to get
- 7:43Speaker 1: the hell out of the country by this weekend. You
- 7:47Speaker 1: remember that reflecting pool? The guy, a Trump hater, Olympic canoeist,
- 7:56Speaker 1: vandalized the pool. He got in the pool, whatever he did,
- 8:00Speaker 1: and they brought a case against him. Well, it was
- 8:01Speaker 1: thrown out yesterday. This is Jeanine Pirro, the DA in Washington, D.C.
- 8:06Speaker 1: But it's Washington, D.C. You get these Trump-hating left-wing judges.
- 8:10Speaker 1: They're always going to rule against Trump. So the case
- 8:12Speaker 1: was tossed out with prejudice. Now, what that means is
- 8:18Speaker 1: you can't bring the case again. The judge claimed Pirro's
- 8:21Speaker 1: office had shot first, asked questions later. It was a
- 8:25Speaker 1: lightning-fast indictment process. The prosecutors assigned to the case, this
- 8:31Speaker 1: is the judge talking, The prosecutors assigned to the case
- 8:35Speaker 1: thought it was meritless, but the president repeatedly disparaged them,
- 8:39Speaker 1: pressured them to change course. Well, that could be, but
- 8:42Speaker 1: you're not supposed to get into that if you're the judge.
- 8:45Speaker 1: You're not supposed to even consider that. But again, he
- 8:48Speaker 1: not only dismissed the case, but with prejudice. That's a
- 8:51Speaker 1: big thing. That means that the U.S. Attorney's Office there,
- 8:55Speaker 1: Jeanine Pirro, cannot refile the case. They cannot bring the case.
- 8:59Speaker 1: So We'll see. Trump can get pretty mad sometimes when
- 9:03Speaker 1: this stuff happens. We'll see what happens. As Jimmy Fallon
- 9:07Speaker 1: pointed out, this reflecting pool stuff, if you watch MSNBC
- 9:11Speaker 1: or CNN or you watch The Daily Show or John Oliver,
- 9:15Speaker 1: this is all they're talking about, the ballroom, the reflecting pool,
- 9:18Speaker 1: the arches. Jimmy Fallon points out this crowd that watches
- 9:23Speaker 1: this stuff, they're all like elitist people. Trump-hating old white liberals.
- 9:29Speaker 1: They're older, angry white liberals that watch The Daily Show
- 9:35Speaker 1: and this sort of stuff and don't realize that actual Americans, normal,
- 9:40Speaker 1: everyday Americans are working their tail off, going to work
- 9:43Speaker 1: every day, raising kids. They don't even know about the
- 9:45Speaker 1: reflecting pool. They don't care about the ballroom. They're not
- 9:49Speaker 1: interested in the arts. This is not an issue they
- 9:51Speaker 1: pay any attention to. This is just for the MSNOW
- 9:54Speaker 1: crowd to worry about. President Trump did that Time Magazine
- 9:57Speaker 1: interview yesterday. Did you know that there's still a Time Magazine?
- 10:03Speaker 1: Did you know this even still exists? Time Magazine. Remember
- 10:06Speaker 1: the old Time Magazine? A million years ago, it was
- 10:08Speaker 1: a big, big deal. Time Magazine was the most important
- 10:12Speaker 1: news magazine in the world. If you were on the
- 10:15Speaker 1: cover of Time Magazine, that was considered The most amazing
- 10:20Speaker 1: accomplishment ever. Now, in today's world, nobody knows what the
- 10:23Speaker 1: hell Time Magazine is, except a few seniors. If you're
- 10:27Speaker 1: under 60, you never heard of Time Magazine. You don't
- 10:29Speaker 1: know what it is. And if you said to somebody, hey,
- 10:31Speaker 1: I was on the cover of Time Magazine, they don't
- 10:35Speaker 1: know what a cover is. What do you mean a cover?
- 10:36Speaker 1: A cover of what? A cover. Because it's a website.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Everybody gets everything online. A website. There's no such thing
- 10:42Speaker 1: as a cover anymore. But in the interview... they asked
- 10:47Speaker 1: him if he would pardon any officials from his administration.
- 10:51Speaker 1: He says, sure, I'd do that. Well, of course, the
- 10:54Speaker 1: now left-wing Time magazine went crazy. It went crazy. They
- 10:58Speaker 1: were giving him a hard time. They're arguing with him.
- 11:00Speaker 1: He said, hey, you didn't mind pardoning Fauci. You didn't
- 11:04Speaker 1: mind Biden pardoning all these people. Sleepy Joe gave pardons
- 11:08Speaker 1: to everyone. He pardoned his son. You didn't say a
- 11:10Speaker 1: word about that. But these left-wing Time magazine, where the
- 11:15Speaker 1: Democrats take total control of the House, the Senate, all
- 11:18Speaker 1: of that, and investigate Trump day and night. They're going
- 11:23Speaker 1: to subpoena his phones. He's got a cell phone. The
- 11:28Speaker 1: first term he used what is the official presidential White
- 11:32Speaker 1: House cell phone, first term. And that's like a special
- 11:36Speaker 1: military phone that has, you can make a call, receive
- 11:40Speaker 1: a call. That's it. It can't do anything else. It
- 11:42Speaker 1: can't text. It can't receive texts. There's nothing else on
- 11:45Speaker 1: the phone for security reasons. Second term, he's got that thing,
- 11:50Speaker 1: but he's decided he'll use his own cell phone. And
- 11:53Speaker 1: he's been doing that for the last year and a
- 11:54Speaker 1: half in his second term. He has an actual Apple
- 11:57Speaker 1: iPhone that he uses. And on that phone, he gets texts,
- 12:01Speaker 1: he sends emails, that sort of stuff. But he doesn't email,
- 12:05Speaker 1: but he texts all the time. And he's given that
- 12:07Speaker 1: cell phone number to everybody in the media. Everybody has
- 12:11Speaker 1: that cell number. And they call him and a lot
- 12:14Speaker 1: of times they text him. In fact, most people text,
- 12:18Speaker 1: you know, he's the president of the United States. Let's
- 12:20Speaker 1: say you want to ask him something. You text him first.
- 12:23Speaker 1: You don't just call. So he'll text back and they all,
- 12:26Speaker 1: everybody texts back and forth with him. All of you
- 12:28Speaker 1: in the media, everybody, you know who you are. A
- 12:31Speaker 1: lot of you in the business world, a lot of
- 12:32Speaker 1: people that know. Everybody's been texting with him for a
- 12:34Speaker 1: year and a half. If the Democrats win, they're going
- 12:38Speaker 1: to subpoena those texts. He's going to fight it, presidential
- 12:44Speaker 1: executive privilege, all that, private classified presidential communications, that sort
- 12:50Speaker 1: of stuff. But they won't give up, and they'll get
- 12:53Speaker 1: it before a left-wing kook of a judge, a Trump-hating
- 12:56Speaker 1: judge in D.C. And at some point, they may have
- 12:59Speaker 1: to turn over those. So if anybody's been texting with
- 13:02Speaker 1: President Trump, if the Democrats take over, you're going to
- 13:07Speaker 1: see those texts subpoenaed. received by Congress, and all those
- 13:13Speaker 1: Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders and Ro Khanna and Adam Schiff,
- 13:17Speaker 1: they will be releasing your text. They'll all be printed.
- 13:20Speaker 1: They'll all be public. Just beware of that. If you've
- 13:24Speaker 1: had some private conversations, stuff you don't want public, just
- 13:29Speaker 1: beware of that. We'll take some calls next.
- 13:31Speaker 2: 800-321-0710 is the number.
- 13:32Speaker 1: If you're a new caller, we'd love to hear from you. 800- 321-0710.
- 13:43Speaker 1: If you're listening to Mark on the iHeartRadio app.
- 13:45Speaker 3: Save time and tap the preset button now.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Now back to the Mark Simone Show on WOR.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Hey, let's take some calls. 800-321-0710 is the number.
- 13:52Speaker 2: 800-321-0710.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Let's go to Peter in North Carolina. Peter, how are
- 13:56Speaker 1: you doing?
- 14:07Speaker 5: Hey, good morning, Mark. First time call. I've been listening
- 14:10Speaker 5: to you for many, many years, but I finally got
- 14:12Speaker 5: brave enough to give you a call this morning.
- 14:14Speaker 1: Wow, I'm glad you did.
- 14:18Speaker 5: I enjoy it. Listen, I used to be, my day
- 14:21Speaker 5: was first you in the morning and then Rush Limbaugh,
- 14:24Speaker 5: and with the losing of now Rush, I just, you're
- 14:27Speaker 5: my information guy, so.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Well, Buck and Clay show's pretty good.
- 14:33Speaker 4: I know.
- 14:33Speaker 5: They do, but they ramble a lot. I'll be honest
- 14:36Speaker 5: with you.
- 14:37Speaker 1: It's a talk show. You've got to ramble. No, but
- 14:41Speaker 1: that's the whole Rush team that's doing that show from
- 14:44Speaker 1: the Rush studio.
- 14:45Speaker 5: Yeah, I do. I do listen to them on occasion.
- 14:47Speaker 5: But listen, I was wondering, you know, what happened to
- 14:50Speaker 5: Maria Bartiromo? I mean, she was such a big gun
- 14:52Speaker 5: on Fox News. And then, of course, we heard that guy.
- 14:55Speaker 5: fired or she quit we don't know why now she's
- 14:57Speaker 5: like well actually.
- 14:59Speaker 1: We do know we we do know the whole story
- 15:01Speaker 1: there was some first of all she's always fighting with
- 15:03Speaker 1: the management i love her and she's a good person
- 15:05Speaker 1: but always fighting with the management that doesn't help yeah
- 15:08Speaker 1: then there was a problem with um uh kevin o'leary
- 15:11Speaker 1: was saying some crazy things she didn't correct them and
- 15:14Speaker 1: fox had to issue all kinds of apologies and then
- 15:17Speaker 1: uh there was the final uh what was i can't
- 15:20Speaker 1: even remember now but there was a lot of fighting
- 15:22Speaker 1: the contract was coming to an end anyway They've announced
- 15:25Speaker 1: the replacement. It's going to be a lot of familiar
- 15:27Speaker 1: Fox Business faces, Dagan McDowell and all that.
- 15:31Speaker 5: Yeah. And they put, what's his name, Kudlow on and
- 15:35Speaker 5: plays for him and so forth for a while.
- 15:36Speaker 1: Well, Kudlow, you should watch Kudlow every day, 4 o'clock.
- 15:40Speaker 1: I do.
- 15:40Speaker 5: I see you there, too. I do watch you on there, too.
- 15:43Speaker 5: I enjoy you.
- 15:44Speaker 1: Yeah, but that is the single smartest show on television.
- 15:47Speaker 5: I agree with you.
- 15:48Speaker 1: Kudlow, every day, 4 o'clock.
- 15:50Speaker 5: Yeah, I definitely agree with that. So you don't know
- 15:54Speaker 5: what she's going to do next. To me, I always
- 15:56Speaker 5: got a lot out of her. She's very smart, obviously.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Very smart. She's a very nice person. She'll announce something soon.
- 16:03Speaker 1: She'll do something next. But thanks for calling, Peter. Let's
- 16:06Speaker 1: go to Sam in Connecticut. Sam, how are you doing?
- 16:11Speaker 5: Good.
- 16:11Speaker 4: I got some good news for Bruce Blakeman. I was
- 16:16Speaker 4: with my barber on Sunday getting haircuts. a Russian Jew
- 16:21Speaker 4: who lives in Queens. He told me that the rabbis
- 16:24Speaker 4: are coming out and are all telling the congregation, change
- 16:28Speaker 4: their registration, vote Republican. They've had it with Mondami, and
- 16:33Speaker 4: they're out.
- 16:34Speaker 1: There in droves.
- 16:35Speaker 4: Blakeman's going to be pulling off a lot of the
- 16:38Speaker 4: Jewish vote in Queens now.
- 16:40Speaker 1: Well, that's great. The Jewish vote, it's still a small
- 16:43Speaker 1: percentage of votes, but it's a turnout election. If Republicans
- 16:47Speaker 1: turn out, If Republicans turn out, Blakeman wins. He's got
- 16:52Speaker 1: to win 35% of New York to win the governorship, 35%
- 16:55Speaker 1: of New York.
- 16:56Speaker 4: And I think it's doable, and I just sent him
- 16:58Speaker 4: another donation.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Very good.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Excellent.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Yeah, you want to donate, go to BlakemanForNewYork.com, and you
- 17:05Speaker 1: can donate or volunteer, whatever you want to do, BlakemanForNewYork.com.
- 17:09Speaker 1: Let's go to Michael in Danbury, Connecticut. Michael, how are
- 17:11Speaker 1: you doing?
- 17:13Speaker 5: Good morning, Mark.
- 17:14Speaker 7: I wanted to talk about this Krista Pike situation. There
- 17:19Speaker 7: was an anesthesiologist on the Buck and Clay show yesterday
- 17:23Speaker 7: who said that it wasn't that the lethal injection didn't work.
- 17:28Speaker 7: They didn't get the administration of the penobarbital into her veins.
- 17:36Speaker 5: They missed twice.
- 17:38Speaker 7: Wouldn't you think that they would have had a phlebotomist,
- 17:42Speaker 7: somebody who knew what they were doing?
- 17:44Speaker 1: Well, more than that, though, lawyers warned them that because
- 17:47Speaker 1: of her terrible medical condition and whatever she was screwed
- 17:51Speaker 1: up on, that her veins were so tiny there was
- 17:54Speaker 1: no way to even get into them. And even if
- 17:56Speaker 1: you got it into her veins, her veins were so
- 17:59Speaker 1: narrow it wouldn't have killed her. It was also predictable.
- 18:03Speaker 3: Krista's legal team told the state of Tennessee and the
- 18:06Speaker 3: courts that her medical conditions would cause her to suffer
- 18:09Speaker 3: an agonizing death. The state and the court dismiss Christa's concerns.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Yeah, so apparently her veins were so shrunken down and
- 18:19Speaker 1: clogged up. It would never have gone through there correctly.
- 18:22Speaker 2: Let's go to... Not there.
- 18:27Speaker 1: What happened? Oh, something happened. All the calls dropped at once.
- 18:32Speaker 1: It's our phones again acting up, but I think it's
- 18:33Speaker 1: all right. I think it's all right. So, hey, we
- 18:36Speaker 1: got a lot coming up. We'll get to Roger Friedman
- 18:39Speaker 1: in a few moments. There's new Beatles stuff coming out.
- 18:43Speaker 1: If you're a big Beatles fan, you'll want to know
- 18:44Speaker 1: about that. We'll take a look at Broadway, see how
- 18:47Speaker 1: everything is doing. We'll get to Sylvester Stallone. A lot
- 18:51Speaker 1: of people love this new book. We'll get to that
- 18:54Speaker 1: and a whole lot more coming up next on 710WOR.
- 18:59Speaker 1: What's better than two hours of Marc Simone?
- 19:02Speaker 2: Three.
- 19:03Speaker 1: The Marc Simone Show.
- 19:04Speaker 2: Now nine till noon weekdays.
- 19:07Speaker 5: 710WOR.
- 19:10Speaker 1: Well, with us now, the great entertainment reporter, Roger Friedman.
- 19:14Speaker 1: His website, showbiz411. com. Has a lot of great stories, new
- 19:19Speaker 1: stuff every day. Check it out. Showbiz411. com. Roger Friedman, how
- 19:25Speaker 1: you doing?
- 19:25Speaker 2: So much going on this morning. I don't know where
- 19:29Speaker 2: to begin. Hey, Sting turned 75. Lots of great music.
- 19:33Speaker 2: Sting turned 75 today.
- 19:35Speaker 5: What?
- 19:36Speaker 1: How could that be?
- 19:38Speaker 5: I know.
- 19:39Speaker 2: He looks like he's 55 or 50 or something. There's
- 19:43Speaker 2: never been anyone in better shape. He's on the stage
- 19:47Speaker 2: right this evening. He's been doing his Broadway show on
- 19:52Speaker 2: tour for the last, I don't know, since February. And
- 19:55Speaker 2: tomorrow night is the last night in London of The
- 19:58Speaker 2: Last Ship. And it's been selling out all over the world. Amsterdam, Paris, London,
- 20:03Speaker 2: New York. And then after he finishes tomorrow night, in
- 20:09Speaker 2: another week or so, he picks up his rock tour,
- 20:13Speaker 2: Sting 3.0, which comes to the Brooklyn Paramount Theater. You
- 20:17Speaker 2: love the Brooklyn Paramount Theater, don't you?
- 20:19Speaker 1: Oh, my favorite.
- 20:21Speaker 2: The what? I went there once with Cousin Brucie.
- 20:24Speaker 1: Okay.
- 20:26Speaker 2: It's a great theater. It was the famous rock and
- 20:29Speaker 2: roll theater of Alan Freed. And it's been restored. It's
- 20:33Speaker 2: right in Fort Greene.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Yeah, and isn't that where the Four Seasons made their
- 20:38Speaker 1: debut and became famous there?
- 20:40Speaker 2: Yes. All the rock stars. I went there with Cousin
- 20:44Speaker 2: Brucie and Little Anthony. We had a fabulous time. Anyway,
- 20:49Speaker 2: I love Little Anthony. Anyway, I think they just added
- 20:56Speaker 2: two more shows. He has 10 sold-out shows at the
- 20:58Speaker 2: Brooklyn Paramount in November. Uh, so 75, you know, God bless.
- 21:04Speaker 1: I'm looking at a picture of him. What does this
- 21:06Speaker 1: guy spend like 12 hours a day in the gym?
- 21:08Speaker 1: How do you get to look like that?
- 21:11Speaker 2: He does a lot of yoga.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Oh, it looks pretty.
- 21:13Speaker 2: I eat a lot of yogurt and he has a
- 21:16Speaker 2: lot of yoga.
- 21:17Speaker 1: How come we don't look like him? Look at those muscles.
- 21:20Speaker 2: Cause we don't, we don't do anything. I like to
- 21:23Speaker 2: sit in a comfortable chair.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Oh, okay. Um, so he doesn't need a Carnegie deli.
- 21:28Speaker 2: Uh, in other words, No, he does not eat the
- 21:31Speaker 2: carnity deli. He does have meat, though. I've been with
- 21:34Speaker 2: him when he's had steak for dinner.
- 21:36Speaker 1: Yeah, what does he have, two bites?
- 21:39Speaker 2: Yeah, probably. But, no, he eats on the road when
- 21:42Speaker 2: he's working. They make, like, everything is, you know, fake.
- 21:46Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 21:47Speaker 2: It's all made by a chef. It's great. Big music
- 21:50Speaker 2: drops today. Beatles, Rubber Soul, Super Deluxe package. It's this,
- 21:57Speaker 2: I don't know, 60th anniversary of Rubber Soul. Great stuff
- 22:01Speaker 2: on it, including a John Lennon, undiscovered John Lennon demo
- 22:05Speaker 2: from that time. All the tracks that they picked, they remastered, remixed.
- 22:11Speaker 2: There's demos, there's outtakes. It's a beautiful package.
- 22:17Speaker 1: It's great for a Beatles collector, but I'm not a
- 22:19Speaker 1: big fan of this remixed, redid. You know, the first
- 22:22Speaker 1: time it was George Martin. I guarantee you mixed it
- 22:24Speaker 1: perfect the first time.
- 22:27Speaker 2: His son does a Giles Martin. He does a great job. Yeah.
- 22:31Speaker 2: I think he does a great job. There are people
- 22:33Speaker 2: who prefer in 2009, there was a box set of the,
- 22:38Speaker 2: all the Beatles albums and people, uh, George Martin had
- 22:42Speaker 2: done that one and people love that box set, but I,
- 22:46Speaker 2: I really kind of liked this and I've been, I've
- 22:48Speaker 2: been enjoying it. And, um, And you'll hear some outtakes
- 22:53Speaker 2: and things that we've never heard before of songs from
- 22:56Speaker 2: Rubber Soul. And this is really the album where the
- 22:59Speaker 2: Beatles switched over from Help and Hard Day's Night and
- 23:02Speaker 2: Ticket to Ride to their really fabulous second part of
- 23:07Speaker 2: their career, where it was Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt. Pepper,
- 23:11Speaker 2: the White Album, Let It Be, and Abbey Road.
- 23:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 23:14Speaker 2: It's it's you can't even describe their career in seven
- 23:18Speaker 2: or eight years they did all of us we think
- 23:20Speaker 2: of it now it's like a long thing that went
- 23:22Speaker 2: on but it was a very short period um and
- 23:26Speaker 2: and uh robert stahl is considered sort of the template
- 23:30Speaker 2: for all the stuff that came after.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Well back then it was the beatles beatles versus the
- 23:34Speaker 1: beach boys and they would do just hit singles and
- 23:36Speaker 1: then all of a sudden they got into this much
- 23:38Speaker 1: more sophisticated studio work and it was The Beach Boys
- 23:43Speaker 1: did Pet Sounds, and the Beatles would respond with Rubber Soul.
- 23:47Speaker 1: They'd go back and forth, and it really elevated everything.
- 23:51Speaker 2: The Beach Boys had a great record called Surf's Up.
- 23:54Speaker 2: I love that record, and it was very sophisticated. It's
- 23:58Speaker 2: Brian Wilson's, I think it's his best song. Anyway, the
- 24:01Speaker 2: other big music drop today is Elvis Costello's which turns
- 24:05Speaker 2: out to be just a fantastic box set of My
- 24:09Speaker 2: Aim Is True. It's the 49th anniversary. Of course, Elvis
- 24:11Speaker 2: Costello would never do a 50th anniversary. So he's doing
- 24:14Speaker 2: the 49th anniversary of his first album. And I didn't
- 24:18Speaker 2: know what to expect, really, except it turns out the
- 24:21Speaker 2: box set is fabulous and has all kinds of stuff
- 24:25Speaker 2: that wasn't released as part of the original album. Wonderful songs.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Okay, but again, you know why it wasn't released? It
- 24:35Speaker 1: wasn't as good as the rest of the album.
- 24:36Speaker 2: I'll tell you why. No, no, no. It was as good,
- 24:39Speaker 2: but I'll tell you why. In 1977, when they put
- 24:42Speaker 2: out My Name is True, they picked 12 songs that
- 24:45Speaker 2: made him seem like an angry young guy. So the
- 24:49Speaker 2: songs that weren't angry and that were very melodic, had
- 24:52Speaker 2: a Burt Bacharach kind of sound to them, Really beautiful songs.
- 24:56Speaker 2: They just left off the album. So now all those
- 24:59Speaker 2: songs are back. And for the first time, we're hearing them.
- 25:03Speaker 2: And I tell you, I was blown away by this
- 25:04Speaker 2: box set. Just incredible. But, you know, all this older music,
- 25:10Speaker 2: legacy music, you know, we love. I went to see
- 25:13Speaker 2: Neil Young last week, and I've listened to his new album.
- 25:15Speaker 1: Neil Young.
- 25:16Speaker 2: Fabulous album.
- 25:17Speaker 1: What happened? You lose it, Pat?
- 25:19Speaker 2: Fabulous album. Neil Young. He's such a great songwriter and
- 25:24Speaker 2: very moving.
- 25:26Speaker 1: If you say so.
- 25:26Speaker 2: So there's a lot going on. The other thing that's happening,
- 25:30Speaker 2: of course, is that the Tom Cruise movie, Digger, opened
- 25:32Speaker 2: last night in previews. And it's not very good. The
- 25:36Speaker 2: reviews are terrible. And we're waiting this morning to see
- 25:40Speaker 2: what the box office is from last night, which is
- 25:45Speaker 2: probably not going to be great. Uh, it's, it's one
- 25:48Speaker 2: of the last movies for Warner brothers as a freestanding studio.
- 25:51Speaker 2: Warner brothers now merged with Paramount. And this morning, uh,
- 25:55Speaker 2: they announced that the, uh, parent company is going to
- 25:58Speaker 2: be called sky dance.
- 25:59Speaker 1: I don't like that.
- 26:00Speaker 2: No, no sky dance, but they're still going to have
- 26:05Speaker 2: Warner brothers and Paramount. It's just going to say a
- 26:07Speaker 2: sky dance company.
- 26:08Speaker 1: Oh, okay.
- 26:08Speaker 2: Yeah. Hey, uh, uh, uh, Yes.
- 26:12Speaker 1: No, I don't mean to interrupt. Everybody seems to love
- 26:15Speaker 1: this new Sylvester Stallone book.
- 26:19Speaker 2: You know, I tell you what, I read it. It's
- 26:22Speaker 2: really good. And it's all about everything that led up
- 26:26Speaker 2: to him writing Rocky. It stops at Rocky. So you
- 26:31Speaker 2: learn all about his childhood. Yeah, it's not after Rocky.
- 26:35Speaker 2: It's everything before. And the other night, they gave him
- 26:39Speaker 2: a fantastic book party. I was not invited, but that's
- 26:42Speaker 2: all right. They gave him on the 37th floor of
- 26:48Speaker 2: what we used to call the GM building.
- 26:51Speaker 1: Oh, that stupid Colette Club?
- 26:53Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't know anything about it.
- 26:56Speaker 5: Do you?
- 26:56Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a really stupid club. They act like it's
- 26:59Speaker 1: the most exclusive club in the world. Then when you
- 27:02Speaker 1: go in there, Everybody that's a member says to you,
- 27:04Speaker 1: how are you? It's, it's all those people.
- 27:08Speaker 2: Well, I don't know, but they had, I once had,
- 27:12Speaker 2: I once had a boss whose mother came in from
- 27:15Speaker 2: Jericho and she said to all of us, you people
- 27:18Speaker 2: are delicious. Uh, anyway, she was like Tony Fields.
- 27:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:24Speaker 2: Um, anyway, um, uh, they had this ritzy book party
- 27:28Speaker 2: with all these billionaires from Palm beach. And I thought,
- 27:31Speaker 2: this is really, uh, tribute to Sylvester Stallone that he was,
- 27:37Speaker 2: as a child, he was in a cold water flat
- 27:39Speaker 2: in Hill's Kitchen with his parents. They had no heat,
- 27:42Speaker 2: no hot water. They had no money. He asked, in
- 27:49Speaker 2: the book, he says to his father, I'd like to
- 27:51Speaker 2: get a pet cat. And the father says, no cat,
- 27:55Speaker 2: just play with the mice that are in the apartment.
- 27:57Speaker 2: I mean, that's how bad things were. And then you
- 28:01Speaker 2: see what he's done with his life. It's amazing. And,
- 28:05Speaker 2: of course, this movie, I Play Rocky, is coming out
- 28:09Speaker 2: very soon this fall. And that's the story of how
- 28:15Speaker 2: he made Rocky into an Oscar-winning movie. People love this
- 28:19Speaker 2: I Play Rocky. This guy, Anthony Ippolito, plays Stallone. And
- 28:25Speaker 2: so they reenact Rocky, but it's also the struggle he
- 28:28Speaker 2: had to get it made. And people are cheering. You
- 28:31Speaker 2: remember how Rocky was? I don't know if you remember this.
- 28:36Speaker 2: Were you born in 1975?
- 28:37Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 28:38Speaker 2: I remember going to the theater, and people were so
- 28:42Speaker 2: excited about Rocky. They were standing and cheering at the
- 28:44Speaker 2: end of it.
- 28:44Speaker 1: Wow.
- 28:45Speaker 2: And now, apparently, they're doing the same thing with this
- 28:47Speaker 2: I Play Rocky. So Sylvester Stallone is having his big moment.
- 28:51Speaker 2: And good for him. Oh, great.
- 28:54Speaker 1: Hey, if you want to hear more of these stories,
- 28:56Speaker 1: go to showbiz411. com. That's Roger's website. showbiz411. com. Roger Friedman, great
