- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:31You can hear all the babies off in the distance peeping away
- 0:34this morning. So I am going to talk to you
- 0:38today about imagination and how important imagination is.
- 0:43So in the 1800s, a French psychologist and pharmacist
- 0:52introduced a new form of psychiatry, psychology that a
- 0:57psychotherapy, I believe is what it was, where he called it
- 1:01optimistic auto suggestion. And he was very focused on it.
- 1:05I'm going to butcher his name. So please, I apologize ahead of
- 1:08time for not being able to pronounce this very well.
- 1:11And it's a very long name, but he was tech technically known as
- 1:15Emil Cooe COUE with an A little asterisk over it.
- 1:22So he was a, a absolute influence in this field because
- 1:28he really, really studied the this, he created this method.
- 1:34And it was all about having that incremental adjustments to your
- 1:41mindset by completely focusing on the optimistic parts of
- 1:45things, by looking at certain things.
- 1:47And you can certainly, you know, look him up, see what he had to
- 1:51say. But today we are talking about
- 1:54something that he said that intrigued me that I just
- 1:57recently read about, where your imagination is stronger than
- 2:02willpower and when in conflict with each other, imagination
- 2:07will always win. And he really believed this.
- 2:10And I have to say, I am a huge believer in imagination.
- 2:15I was. I spent a lot of time in trouble
- 2:17for my imagination because people would say that I wasn't
- 2:20paying attention, I was daydreaming, I was all over the
- 2:24place, I didn't need to constantly be thinking about
- 2:27things the way I was and yadda yadda yadda, and so spent a lot
- 2:32of time in trouble as a kid for it.
- 2:34However, I'm really glad that I never paid attention to anybody
- 2:37about it and I kept it and it never got ruined and it's a very
- 2:39precious thing to me to this day.
- 2:41Otherwise, why the hell would I be sitting in a chicken coop
- 2:44shooting a podcast from it? That came from my imagination.
- 2:48And I have always valued my imagination highly.
- 2:52But I understand right now that that is not something that's
- 2:55quite as coveted as it once was. And that's a problem because I
- 2:59do believe what he's talking about.
- 3:01And the imagination is stronger than pretty much anything in our
- 3:05presence. It is a powerful tool that has
- 3:08been given to us from the universe, from God, however you
- 3:12want to look at it. It is a tool that has been given
- 3:14to us. And it is highly neglected right
- 3:17now. It is highly ignored.
- 3:20And it is highly just, I don't want to say it's abused, but it
- 3:27is just, it's not cultivated anymore.
- 3:29It's not coveted. It's it's not something that I
- 3:32think should happen at all. I mean, I think we should be
- 3:36cherishing what we have in it. And I think we should constantly
- 3:39be cultivating it to become the the absolute supreme tool that
- 3:44it needs to be for us. Because out of imagination,
- 3:47everything else arises. I mean, think about it,
- 3:50everything around you was created out of someone's
- 3:54imagination, if not the universe and its imagination.
- 3:59So it doesn't make a difference what it is.
- 4:01I'm here on an iPhone and I am working this iPhone using this.
- 4:06And this was out of someone's imagination.
- 4:10Everything comes that way. I'm in a chicken coop that has I
- 4:16had a vision for what it wanted to look like.
- 4:18I could see it in my imagination.
- 4:21It's a powerful, powerful tool. And when you utilize it as that
- 4:26special tool, it helps you more than anything else does.
- 4:31Willpower is strong. Determination is strong.
- 4:38Faith is strong. Imagination is magic.
- 4:42And when you use it as such, you become the wizard or the warlock
- 4:49or however you want to do it, the sorceress, you become the
- 4:53magic. Whatever that word is for you,
- 4:55you have to make the decision that you're going to cultivate
- 4:59your imagination. So how does one start to
- 5:01cultivate their imagination or bring it back to life when it
- 5:04has been neglected and suffered as it often does within our
- 5:08society? Because everybody just focuses
- 5:11on work and focuses on chores and focuses on paying bills and
- 5:15they don't focus on their imagination.
- 5:18So being very random is a great thing to start with.
- 5:22Trying things that you would never think you would try
- 5:25before. Taking yourself and saying what
- 5:31are the things that I loved to do when I was a kid before the
- 5:34world got in the way? And what were the creative
- 5:37things you did as a child and bringing them back into your
- 5:40life now? So that is one of my favorite
- 5:44ways to do it. And I would really suggest, and
- 5:46if you don't have something from when you were a child that you
- 5:48said, I didn't love to do this, I didn't do this, I didn't do
- 5:51this, then you just start exploring raw and new and think,
- 5:54OK, what would be interesting to me now?
- 5:56What would be something that would be fun to me now?
- 5:58You pour into it that way and you just start thinking about
- 6:02it. Because I will tell you that
- 6:04quote. Imagination is stronger than
- 6:07willpower. And when in conflict with each
- 6:09other, imagination always wins. It will.
- 6:13It can change your world. Because when something comes up
- 6:16and it's hard and it's difficult and you need your willpower to
- 6:19get through it. If you just stopped and paused
- 6:22and you said OK, how can I use my imagination instead?
- 6:26That's when magic happens. All right, my friends, I hope
- 6:29you have a blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
- 6:33Bye.
