Latest / Foul Territory / Dodgers Territory NLDS Game 1 Reaction: Dodgers Home Run Barrage Downs the Braves, Skubal ELECTRIC
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: You signed a lot of these guys for October. While
- 0:02Speaker 1: people were soured on Teoscar Hernandez, I'm like, I buy
- 0:05Speaker 1: into that dude in October because he's still standing there,
- 0:09Speaker 1: by the way, watching that homer.
- 0:22Speaker 2: What up, everybody, and welcome to the first postseason postgame
- 0:27Speaker 2: of Dodgers territory. Clint Pasillas, Alana Rizzo, we are here
- 0:31Speaker 2: taking you through game one. Cheers to thee, everybody. Cheers
- 0:34Speaker 2: to you, Clint. Postseason is here. It has arrived, and
- 0:37Speaker 2: the Dodgers take game one 5-3 over the Atlanta Braves.
- 0:42Speaker 2: We're going to talk all things Teoscar. all things, Kyle Tucker,
- 0:46Speaker 2: all things, Max Muncy, all things, Tarek Scooble. But first
- 0:50Speaker 2: let's start with the end and go backwards. Let's start
- 0:53Speaker 2: with that ninth inning. Tanner Scott, thank goodness. Clint Tanner
- 0:57Speaker 2: had a cushion, but that's not what you want to see. Yeah.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Um, listen, I guess get it out of the way.
- 1:03Speaker 1: Now let Tanner Scott get the bad ending out of
- 1:06Speaker 1: the way. Now, um, serves up a two run Homer
- 1:09Speaker 1: to Ozzie Albies. I wasn't expecting a lot out of
- 1:11Speaker 1: Ozzie in this series. Uh, Last night we did a
- 1:14Speaker 1: sort of final pre-series show on my All Dodgers channel,
- 1:20Speaker 1: and my buddy Kevin says... Well, he's somebody I'm watching
- 1:23Speaker 1: this series. Ozzie Albies is like, really? In this day
- 1:26Speaker 1: and age? He showed you. He's still got something in
- 1:28Speaker 1: the tank. I don't know. Like, do you worry about
- 1:32Speaker 1: Tanner Scott already immediately after this? Like, I don't know.
- 1:36Speaker 1: I'm on the fence if I'm worried. Like, we entered
- 1:39Speaker 1: this postseason feeling fantastic about the starting rotation, and we
- 1:43Speaker 1: do with Derek Skubal's game one start. But now, you know,
- 1:46Speaker 1: the guy who Dave wants to turn to most often
- 1:49Speaker 1: in the ninth didn't have a good, you know, but
- 1:53Speaker 1: I guess 2026 postseason debut.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Well, yeah, I mean, no, I'm not worried. I'm not
- 1:57Speaker 2: worried because I do think, you know, when you have
- 2:00Speaker 2: a five to one lead, you don't necessarily have to
- 2:03Speaker 2: nibble as much. I do think that this is a
- 2:06Speaker 2: guy that knows what he's doing. Thank goodness we had
- 2:09Speaker 2: the cushion. I don't think that Dave would hesitate going
- 2:12Speaker 2: to him again. It was a little too close for comfort,
- 2:15Speaker 2: but I think it's too soon. Now, if he has
- 2:17Speaker 2: a couple of other outings like that, whether it's in
- 2:19Speaker 2: the ninth inning or leading up to the ninth inning,
- 2:21Speaker 2: then a little bit more concerned if he's allowing a
- 2:23Speaker 2: lot of traffic on the bases. But for this one,
- 2:27Speaker 2: or not even traffic on the bases, Ozzie Albies didn't
- 2:30Speaker 2: even really have to touch him. But, you know, I
- 2:33Speaker 2: think I'm not concerned yet. Not in the first game. Yeah.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Again, get it out of the way now. Evan Phillips
- 2:40Speaker 1: comes in behind him with two outs, walks the leadoff
- 2:43Speaker 1: batter he faces, of course, to bring up Austin Riley,
- 2:48Speaker 1: who has himself some big postseason moments.
- 2:50Speaker 2: That made me nervous. Yeah, yeah.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Thankfully everything works out and your Dodgers win game one.
- 2:56Speaker 1: We are happy about that. We are thrilled about that.
- 2:58Speaker 1: You know who I was thrilled with?
- 2:59Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Do you want to talk more pitching? Do we want
- 3:02Speaker 1: to stay in the pitching lane and talk about Tarek Skubal,
- 3:04Speaker 1: or do we want to talk about dingers?
- 3:07Speaker 2: Um... Let's talk about Tarek. Let's go from the closer
- 3:11Speaker 2: to the starter. Tarek Skubal was awesome to see him
- 3:15Speaker 2: in his Dodgers postseason debut. Enters the start on Saturday,
- 3:20Speaker 2: a 204 ERA, six career postseason starts. So he knows
- 3:24Speaker 2: how to pitch in the postseason, Clint, when it matters
- 3:27Speaker 2: the most. He had struck out 56, walked just six
- 3:30Speaker 2: batters of the 148 batters he faced coming into this game.
- 3:35Speaker 2: I think a couple of things. The heat might have
- 3:38Speaker 2: gotten to him there at the latter portion of his outing.
- 3:41Speaker 2: And not only the heat, but the fact that he
- 3:43Speaker 2: had some really quick innings. He's kind of just sitting
- 3:45Speaker 2: in the dugout waiting for the Dodgers offense to do
- 3:48Speaker 2: its thing. So I think he did great, though. Obviously
- 3:51Speaker 2: gives up one home run. So one earned run in
- 3:54Speaker 2: six innings of work. I love the fact that now
- 3:57Speaker 2: it looks brilliant. Right. That Tarek Skubal started game one.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Blake Snell's going in game two. And then Yoshinobu Yamamoto
- 4:04Speaker 2: will go in game three. So, Tarek Skubal, this is
- 4:06Speaker 2: why you got him, right? This is why you signed
- 4:08Speaker 2: him and got him at the trade deadline. This is
- 4:11Speaker 2: why every team that was in contention should have gone
- 4:14Speaker 2: after him. And the Dodgers did it, and this is
- 4:17Speaker 2: a massive arm that they needed, and he proved them right.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I think the heat got to him eventually, but,
- 4:26Speaker 1: you know, leadoff single by Drake Baldwin, and after that
- 4:28Speaker 1: retires the next 15 Braves. in order that he faces.
- 4:34Speaker 1: And then, yeah, into that sixth inning, you know, I
- 4:36Speaker 1: think he was just gassed. What's funny, it's, you know,
- 4:40Speaker 1: it's the bad luck. It's the hubris, I guess you
- 4:42Speaker 1: could say, to a degree, because I was about to
- 4:45Speaker 1: type to, you know, a text thread. I'm a part
- 4:48Speaker 1: of like complete game shutout because he.
- 4:51Speaker 2: Was into the six.
- 4:51Speaker 1: He was at only like 67 pitches at that time.
- 4:55Speaker 1: And then sure enough, Sean Murphy goes yard, but thankfully
- 4:59Speaker 1: limits the damage to just that. And, yeah, six-fold, two hits,
- 5:03Speaker 1: one earned, two walks, both in that inning, seven punches,
- 5:06Speaker 1: 94 pitches, all things considered with the Heat. His first
- 5:11Speaker 1: real honest-to-God game, one start with a major league team,
- 5:14Speaker 1: with all due respect to the Detroit Tigers.
- 5:16Speaker 2: That's not very nice. That's why you trade for him.
- 5:19Speaker 2: That's why you trade for him. Absolutely right. And I
- 5:21Speaker 2: do feel that this was an absolute must-win game, and
- 5:24Speaker 2: obviously not because it is the NLDS, not because postseason
- 5:31Speaker 2: is so much more difficult to get wins, but because
- 5:33Speaker 2: the Atlanta Braves were starting a bullpen game. Like, if
- 5:37Speaker 2: you have Carrick Scouble on the hill and you have
- 5:40Speaker 2: a bullpen game, you better frickin' win. I don't care
- 5:43Speaker 2: who the Dodgers would have started in game one. When
- 5:45Speaker 2: your opponent is throwing a bullpen game and you know–
- 5:48Speaker 2: that they are tired. You know that their relieving core
- 5:50Speaker 2: is not where they want them to be. They're scrambling
- 5:52Speaker 2: and kind of limping into the postseason. You must get
- 5:55Speaker 2: this game when you have that ace. We get another
- 5:58Speaker 2: ace tomorrow and then another ace game three. This is
- 6:04Speaker 2: a must win for that reason alone.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Yeah, that would be– I don't know if that's an end-all,
- 6:09Speaker 1: be-all for the Dodgers, of course, because it still would be–
- 6:13Speaker 1: the Braves would still need to win two more games. But, yeah,
- 6:15Speaker 1: if you end up losing– a bullpen game. That is
- 6:19Speaker 1: just such a momentum shift. That is a fantastic point there.
- 6:22Speaker 1: So don't give them that chance. And Hey, now we're
- 6:25Speaker 1: still not certain that they're going to have Chris sale
- 6:27Speaker 1: available in game two. You know, so far Walt Weiss
- 6:30Speaker 1: unwilling to are unwilling or unknowing on whether or not
- 6:34Speaker 1: sales going to be available as, as we talked about yesterday,
- 6:38Speaker 1: Chris sales older now, like to have him go out
- 6:40Speaker 1: there and pull a max, a max Scherzer like he
- 6:43Speaker 1: did with the Dodgers in 2021 and, Scherzer had a
- 6:46Speaker 1: tough time coming back and being available for the team.
- 6:51Speaker 2: He did. But Scherzer in route to that point was
- 6:54Speaker 2: not having the type of season that Chris Sale has
- 6:57Speaker 2: put together this year or last year.
- 6:59Speaker 1: He was really good after they traded for him.
- 7:01Speaker 2: I think Chris Sale has pitched better this year than
- 7:04Speaker 2: he did even earlier on in his career. So I don't. Yes,
- 7:08Speaker 2: he's older, but so are we. I just don't put
- 7:11Speaker 2: it past him to have a really good outing, but
- 7:14Speaker 2: I'd love it for not to even be an issue. Or, furthermore,
- 7:17Speaker 2: force the issue. Force him to pitch. You know what
- 7:19Speaker 2: I mean?
- 7:19Speaker 1: I want to look at some more Tarek Skubal, by
- 7:21Speaker 1: the way, the numbers here. Just throw that up on
- 7:24Speaker 1: the screen while we're also talking about Chris Sale showing
- 7:27Speaker 1: off the new graphics. Shout out our buddy Derek Lewandowski
- 7:30Speaker 1: who hosts Pinstripe Territory, our Yankees counterpart here on the
- 7:35Speaker 1: Foul Network. Hell of a game. Hell of a season.
- 7:38Speaker 1: But yeah, Chris Sale, he's fantastic. We know this much.
- 7:41Speaker 1: And if he gets the ball for game three, I mean,
- 7:44Speaker 1: that's still good. Hopefully he gets the ball for game
- 7:46Speaker 1: three and the Braves are down to nothing in the
- 7:49Speaker 1: series because I'd feel a lot better about that one.
- 7:52Speaker 1: We'll talk more about all of that coming up. What
- 7:54Speaker 1: do you got?
- 7:55Speaker 2: I do want to bring something up in the chat
- 7:58Speaker 2: that is, I think, a very good point. Vtrack1963 says,
- 8:03Speaker 2: I'm grateful Roberts didn't stick with Scott, although Phillips walking
- 8:07Speaker 2: the first guy sucks also. Good point on both points.
- 8:10Speaker 2: I think this is another explanation or another... example rather
- 8:15Speaker 2: of Dave Roberts maturing as a manager and saying, look,
- 8:19Speaker 2: Tarek Scooble obviously doesn't have it right now. I'm going
- 8:21Speaker 2: to go ahead and make the, make the decision before
- 8:25Speaker 2: it got to the point of no return where it
- 8:27Speaker 2: could have ended up tied. Yes. You don't want Evan
- 8:29Speaker 2: Phillips to walk the first guy that doesn't, that's not
- 8:31Speaker 2: helpful either, but the piece of the frame of mind
- 8:33Speaker 2: would just be like, Nope, you're out. We don't have time.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Like I don't have time to, to see how this goes. We're,
- 8:39Speaker 2: you know, we're in this to win every single, every
- 8:41Speaker 2: single game. So, That was a good point, I think,
- 8:43Speaker 2: that he made for sure.
- 8:44Speaker 1: No, it's a really good point to bring up there. Yeah,
- 8:46Speaker 1: and if we were smarter about being prepared for that
- 8:50Speaker 1: ninth inning, because that ninth inning happened pretty quick, if
- 8:52Speaker 1: we're being honest. And usually when we get to the
- 8:55Speaker 1: ninth inning, that's the fun part where I get to
- 8:57Speaker 1: pay attention the least because I need to start getting things,
- 9:00Speaker 1: you know, the ones and twos and bells and whistles
- 9:02Speaker 1: ready here for the show. So you don't really see
- 9:04Speaker 1: how quick an inning can speed up there. But yeah,
- 9:07Speaker 1: shout out to Dave, like managing immediately with that kind
- 9:11Speaker 1: of urgency. he was ready. I think Matt Olsen was
- 9:16Speaker 1: also Tarek Skubal's last batter in that inning regardless. In
- 9:19Speaker 1: that sixth inning, thankfully, gets him on the pop-up. 100-mile-an-hour cheese,
- 9:23Speaker 1: I think it was, to get him out. Or maybe
- 9:25Speaker 1: that was in the first inning. But a similar situation
- 9:28Speaker 1: there to end the sixth inning and that threat for
- 9:33Speaker 1: the Braves. But yeah, all in all, outside of that
- 9:35Speaker 1: ninth inning, great game on the pitching front. Birthday Brock,
- 9:39Speaker 1: he gets a seventh inning. Somebody who Um, we'll talk,
- 9:42Speaker 1: we can talk a little bit later more about the
- 9:44Speaker 1: roster situation, but we weren't certain Brock Stewart was going
- 9:47Speaker 1: to be on this postseason roster. He ends up making
- 9:50Speaker 1: the roster, tosses a one, two, three inning with a
- 9:52Speaker 1: punchy in there and Vessia, A buddy texted me saying
- 9:57Speaker 1: it's great to have Vessia back, because I also kind
- 9:59Speaker 1: of forgot. They didn't have Alex Vessia in the World Series,
- 10:01Speaker 1: and that was a huge, huge missing part.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Of that bullpen. They really needed him last year. Obviously,
- 10:08Speaker 2: we know why, and he was exactly where he needed
- 10:11Speaker 2: to be, but it is great. And you're thinking, too,
- 10:13Speaker 2: you're like, okay, so Tarek Skubal's in there, lefty. Vessia's
- 10:15Speaker 2: also a lefty, so it's like, You know, the lesser
- 10:18Speaker 2: of two evils in that situation in terms of Scooble
- 10:20Speaker 2: kind of fatiguing at that point and Vestia coming into
- 10:24Speaker 2: the game, hopefully with what would have been, you know,
- 10:26Speaker 2: a clean inning. That's kind of what you want. But they,
- 10:28Speaker 2: you know, Tarek Scooble did his job. The bullpen did
- 10:30Speaker 2: its job for the most part. It was a little
- 10:31Speaker 2: hairy there. I understand that completely. Bottom line is they
- 10:38Speaker 2: win game one, and there's 10 more to go before
- 10:41Speaker 2: they three-peat. Obviously, that is the goal this season. Do
- 10:45Speaker 2: we want to talk dingers now?
- 10:47Speaker 1: Let's talk some dingers.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Let's talk some dingers. How about the current outfielders? that
- 10:54Speaker 2: have not necessarily come up clutch in the regular season.
- 10:58Speaker 2: I have been preaching how great Kyle Tucker is all
- 11:00Speaker 2: season long, Clint.
- 11:01Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Exactly. I don't know. I mean, I've been harping on this. No,
- 11:06Speaker 2: I'm kidding. Kyle Tucker, again, massive moment.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Welcome, welcome.
- 11:10Speaker 2: That'll cement yourself into the appreciation lobe of some fans.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Yeah. Like you said in our rundown, Kyle fucking Tucker.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Been saying all year. It doesn't matter. You signed this dude.
- 11:23Speaker 1: For October. You signed a lot of these guys for October.
- 11:26Speaker 1: We talked to Tyler Glass now two days ago, and
- 11:30Speaker 1: pretty much I asked around the fact that you guys
- 11:33Speaker 1: just really need to be ready for the month of October.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Pictures like him, like Blake Snell, so on and so forth.
- 11:40Speaker 1: There's a reason. While people were soured on Teoscar Hernandez,
- 11:43Speaker 1: I'm like, I buy into that dude in October because
- 11:47Speaker 1: he's still standing there, by the way, watching that homer.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Thank God. Yeah. Like that was absolute cinema there. Get
- 11:54Speaker 1: me Tao in the batter's box with the runner on
- 11:58Speaker 1: base on a warmer day, a hot ass day, really
- 12:01Speaker 1: in LA, you know, that ball's going to fly halfway up.
- 12:05Speaker 2: You want the Latin guys that love the heat in
- 12:09Speaker 2: those scenarios. Yeah. The Hernandez brothers, man, when it comes
- 12:12Speaker 2: to October, it's just a different, it's just a different beast.
- 12:15Speaker 2: So Tao, that was awesome to get the daughters on
- 12:17Speaker 2: the board with that two run shot, obviously. And then the,
- 12:21Speaker 2: You know, Kyle Tucker, an unlikely hero. Two for four tonight.
- 12:24Speaker 2: The two RBIs, obviously. He scored the run. He had
- 12:27Speaker 2: a stolen base. 12 for 12 on stolen bags in
- 12:30Speaker 2: the regular season. He's one for one so far in
- 12:32Speaker 2: this playoff push. And then Max Muncy, who is like, duh.
- 12:36Speaker 2: You just expect Max Muncy to homer, right? I mean,
- 12:39Speaker 2: he's just that dude. He's just that guy. So, listen,
- 12:43Speaker 2: if they have to win it via the long ball
- 12:45Speaker 2: the entire time, as long as you play good defense,
- 12:48Speaker 2: you know, and you throw and catch the ball well,
- 12:51Speaker 2: I'll take it.
- 12:52Speaker 1: Yeah. Postseason homer number 17 to extend. his Dodgers franchise lead. Again,
- 13:00Speaker 1: everything before the ninth inning was just a very fun
- 13:02Speaker 1: baseball game. The kind of game, the kind of game,
- 13:05Speaker 1: type of game you want to see as a Dodger fan.
- 13:08Speaker 1: And like you said, I, you know, it's, it can't
- 13:12Speaker 1: be not overstated enough. If that's how you would say this,
- 13:16Speaker 1: that you need to win a game where the Braves
- 13:18Speaker 1: are throwing a bullpen game, especially if it's game one
- 13:22Speaker 1: and it's in your ballpark. And they did just that.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Tao got them going. Um, yeah, you love it. You know, I,
- 13:27Speaker 1: I am, I'm, I'm slightly mad at Mookie. I had
- 13:30Speaker 1: some money on him to hit a Homer, but he
- 13:32Speaker 1: let me down, unfortunately. But yeah, let's get into some
- 13:35Speaker 1: of the chats, by the way, people hanging out with us. And, um,
- 13:40Speaker 1: Don Davis is hitting us. Hold on. Let me, uh,
- 13:42Speaker 1: let me fix the way this looks here on my
- 13:46Speaker 1: screen before I share it to everybody else. Uh, I'm using,
- 13:50Speaker 1: using some different looks, but Don Davis, $ 2 saying Alana.
- 13:54Speaker 1: It's going to be great.
- 13:55Speaker 2: It's going to be great. It's going to be great.
- 13:57Speaker 1: It was great. It was a great game today.
- 13:59Speaker 2: You're right, Don. Appreciate you very much. I'm assuming. Yeah.
- 14:02Speaker 2: All right. So appreciate that, Don. A couple of other
- 14:04Speaker 2: super chats in here. I think I saw one.
- 14:07Speaker 1: We got the Enigma in here as well. $ 4. 99 saying,
- 14:11Speaker 1: I feel like a proud papa with my boy Tucker
- 14:13Speaker 1: coming through. And y'all chill on Scott. He's been great
- 14:16Speaker 1: all year, and we won. Postseason is binary. Yeah, that's
- 14:19Speaker 1: one of those things.
- 14:20Speaker 2: That's why I'm not concerned, because he has had a strong– now,
- 14:22Speaker 2: I would have been more concerned had he had the
- 14:24Speaker 2: year he had last year. I know he's in that situation.
- 14:27Speaker 1: You don't worry immediately. You flag it. You certainly flag
- 14:32Speaker 1: it as like, okay, here's.
- 14:34Speaker 2: Something to keep your eye on, for sure. Something to
- 14:36Speaker 2: keep your eye on. Gabriel Kuznot, 7840, Super Chat, $ 5.
- 14:40Speaker 2: We appreciate you very much, Gabriel. And that's all she wrote.
- 14:43Speaker 2: Game over. Dodgers win, baby. One down, 10 to go.
- 14:45Speaker 2: That's right. Go Dodgers. Appreciate you guys participating here on
- 14:49Speaker 2: Dodgers Territory. Supports the show very much. Thank you. Appreciate that.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Latino slang. This is good.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Latino slant. It's a great name.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Let's tuck and go. Hola, Clint and Alana. One down,
- 15:00Speaker 2: 10 to go. What's up, buddy? Thanks for the support.
- 15:02Speaker 2: We appreciate that. Can we please talk about Pajas and challenges?
- 15:06Speaker 1: Listen. Listen. I think what made it worse was how
- 15:10Speaker 1: egregious that ball four was. That was called a strike
- 15:13Speaker 1: three to Mookie was in the first inning and Mookie
- 15:17Speaker 1: finding it within himself to not challenge because it's the
- 15:20Speaker 1: first inning and he's the first batter of the game. Yeah,
- 15:23Speaker 1: it's like you can understand even as obvious as it was.
- 15:26Speaker 1: It's like, listen, I'm going to take the veteran move,
- 15:28Speaker 1: the veteran play here. and not potentially blow.
- 15:32Speaker 2: A challenge even if i mean you've got you've got
- 15:34Speaker 2: so much more time in the game at that point
- 15:36Speaker 2: to win the game and figure it out and and
- 15:39Speaker 2: first inning first batter of the game that is not
- 15:42Speaker 2: the time that's a pro move by mookie marcus lynn
- 15:44Speaker 2: but andy i love you man you're a big part
- 15:46Speaker 2: of what's been happening with the success of this club
- 15:49Speaker 2: take challenges away take them away like you are not
- 15:54Speaker 2: allowed to challenge.
- 15:55Speaker 1: I think in the bottom of the eighth, too, like
- 15:59Speaker 1: there was a pitch he wanted to challenge. I'm pretty
- 16:01Speaker 1: sure he got the heavy red light from the dugout
- 16:05Speaker 1: after that second inning. But, yeah, not also for Andy,
- 16:10Speaker 1: just another one of those things you're not worried about,
- 16:12Speaker 1: but you flag it for now. Not a great first
- 16:14Speaker 1: game offensively, Marcel. Like hopefully you don't let that mentally
- 16:20Speaker 1: snowball on you, you know. dropping an over there for
- 16:23Speaker 1: for pa has um you know played a really nice
- 16:27Speaker 1: center field uh tough sun field it's not as much
- 16:29Speaker 1: of a sun field as right field is but there
- 16:31Speaker 1: was a play where he's kind of like you know
- 16:33Speaker 1: using the glove shielding the sun all that kind of
- 16:36Speaker 1: stuff so i appreciate that much i also appreciate shohei
- 16:39Speaker 1: otani's first at bat oh not homers got a hit's
- 16:42Speaker 1: hard uh single um ends up getting stranded but it's
- 16:46Speaker 1: like i do hit the ball hard good things are
- 16:48Speaker 1: eventually going.
- 16:49Speaker 2: To happen I mean, he was crushing dingers on the
- 16:53Speaker 2: field earlier today, right?
- 16:54Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 16:55Speaker 2: It wasn't necessarily BP, but it was the other day
- 16:58Speaker 2: when he was doing sim games or whatever.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I think they said he hit 11 homers yesterday
- 17:03Speaker 1: in live BP. 11 homers and 23 at-bats or something
- 17:07Speaker 1: like that. 23 pitches more so. So you like that.
- 17:11Speaker 1: We like 499 in the super chats from Raul Navar.
- 17:16Speaker 2: Raul Navar.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Says, school was raking. Tanner Scott is who we thought
- 17:19Speaker 1: he was. Tao and Tucker look good. Gonna be great.
- 17:22Speaker 2: It's gonna be great.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Yeah, how have we not made that a shirt, by
- 17:24Speaker 1: the way? I know.
- 17:26Speaker 2: What's going on with that, Sarah?
- 17:29Speaker 1: By the way, if you guys do want some sweet,
- 17:32Speaker 1: sweet DT swag, or I guess it's less so DT swag.
- 17:37Speaker 1: This is stuff you could find over on the Fowl
- 17:40Speaker 1: Territory shop. You can check out the shirts they got there.
- 17:43Speaker 1: Scan that QR code. It also goes to helping us
- 17:45Speaker 1: help and support the network. And you got Scoob in there.
- 17:49Speaker 1: You got Yamamoto, your Game 3 starter.
- 17:50Speaker 2: I have the Yamamoto shirt. It's sick. I love it.
- 17:54Speaker 2: It was funny. I don't know if you guys I'm
- 17:55Speaker 2: sure you did if you're watching the game. If you
- 17:56Speaker 2: saw Tarek Skubal's interview with our own Ken Rosenthal, check
- 18:00Speaker 2: out Fair Territory with Ken Rosenthal. He also appears often
- 18:03Speaker 2: on foul territory. But, you know, Ken was just asking
- 18:06Speaker 2: about the because I believe that Tanner Scott has all
- 18:09Speaker 2: of his postseason victories have come on the road. So
- 18:12Speaker 2: he's not used to hearing home fans cheer in terms
- 18:14Speaker 2: of the postseason because he's never been at America. Right.
- 18:18Speaker 2: So here, obviously, home fans are cheering for him. And
- 18:20Speaker 2: he's like, it's very similar. Scoob is very similar to Boo.
- 18:24Speaker 2: I thought that was a very funny comment from him.
- 18:27Speaker 2: But it's nice that he was able to get the
- 18:29Speaker 2: home fans behind him and also get some run support.
- 18:32Speaker 2: Because that's not something that Tanner Scott has had in
- 18:35Speaker 2: his previous postseason appearances with the Tigres.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, 100%. And, yeah, playing at home. Being the
- 18:43Speaker 1: first guy on the mound because you are the home team.
- 18:46Speaker 1: It's a different kind of feel. And, of course, right away,
- 18:50Speaker 1: I'm joking around in my Discord chat telling people, it's like, oh,
- 18:53Speaker 1: he gives up the leadoff homer to Tarek Skubal. I mean,
- 18:55Speaker 1: to Drake Baldwin, why is it not Yamamoto getting game one?
- 18:59Speaker 1: You know, you always got to question. the team and
- 19:03Speaker 1: the decisions and all that kind of stuff, but we
- 19:05Speaker 1: don't question a 1-0 series advantage.
- 19:09Speaker 2: Also, guys, don't forget, before we look ahead to Game 2,
- 19:12Speaker 2: which we're going to do that here momentarily on Dodgers Territory,
- 19:14Speaker 2: the special post-game edition, a reminder to smash that subscribe
- 19:17Speaker 2: button on YouTube. Please rate and review the podcast, Apple, Spotify,
- 19:21Speaker 2: wherever you get your pods. You know the drill. We
- 19:23Speaker 2: ask you this every single time, but it is important.

- 19:33Speaker 2: and all the things. So go ahead and shoot that
- 19:36Speaker 2: subscribe button. We appreciate that very much.
- 19:38Speaker 1: All right.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Much more to come here on Dodgers territory. How about
- 19:44Speaker 2: On Deck presented by the Fox One app?
- 19:50Speaker 1: Got a game to look at. We've got a game
- 19:52Speaker 1: two to look at, Alana, and you guys know this
- 19:55Speaker 1: whole series is going to be on Fox. We'll talk
- 19:57Speaker 1: more about that coming up in a little bit. Game
- 19:59Speaker 1: two tomorrow, 5 p.m. Pacific time on FS1. We know
- 20:04Speaker 1: Blake Snell gets the ball for the Dodgers. for Game 2.
- 20:08Speaker 1: It's on FS1. It is Game 2. He gets the
- 20:11Speaker 1: ball for Game 2. We don't know. You said it right.
- 20:15Speaker 1: I don't pay attention to myself. Who would do that?
- 20:17Speaker 2: Nobody does.
- 20:19Speaker 1: As much as this is a conversation, a pretty big
- 20:24Speaker 1: conversation for fans right now, more so why is Yamamoto
- 20:29Speaker 1: not getting Game 2 or even Game 1? I do
- 20:32Speaker 1: not hate. We've said this for a while. There's no
- 20:34Speaker 1: right answer. There's no wrong answer when it comes to
- 20:37Speaker 1: pitches in the series and what order the one, two,
- 20:39Speaker 1: three pitches in the series. And Blake Snell gets the
- 20:42Speaker 1: ball tomorrow. You like it, you hate it. How do
- 20:44Speaker 1: you feel about it?
- 20:46Speaker 2: I'm okay with it. I don't think that it matters
- 20:50Speaker 2: if Chris Sale goes or not. If I'm the Braves,
- 20:52Speaker 2: I save Chris Sale to Game 3. I don't run
- 20:54Speaker 2: him out there tomorrow because tomorrow is not a must-win game. Obviously,
- 20:58Speaker 2: Game 3 would be a must-win game if the Dodgers
- 21:00Speaker 2: win Game 2. But I love Blake Snell. He has
- 21:03Speaker 2: a great postseason record. Remember, I highly, highly believe the
- 21:07Speaker 2: Dodgers won the 2020 World Series because Kevin Cash pulled
- 21:11Speaker 2: Blake Snell. We couldn't do anything against him in 2020
- 21:14Speaker 2: when the team was in Texas, in the bubble during COVID,
- 21:17Speaker 2: all the things. But I love him in game two.
- 21:21Speaker 2: He's a dog on the mound. He's healthy. He obviously
- 21:23Speaker 2: missed a lot of time this year, but this is
- 21:26Speaker 2: what this team is built for. The Los Angeles Dodgers
- 21:28Speaker 2: are not built for the regular season. They always do
- 21:32Speaker 2: well in the regular season, but it's the postseason in
- 21:35Speaker 2: which this team was built for. And Blake Snell wasn't
- 21:38Speaker 2: needed in the regular season. They won 100 games, you know.
- 21:42Speaker 2: So this is good. I like him in game two.
- 21:44Speaker 2: I love Yama in game three. I mean, that would
- 21:46Speaker 2: be on the road, right?
- 21:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:48Speaker 2: Atlanta, which I don't necessarily love that, but whatever. I'm
- 21:54Speaker 2: fine with Snell. I'm fine with it. I love it.
- 21:57Speaker 2: I don't see it as a disrespect to Yamamoto. I'm
- 22:00Speaker 2: just kind of commenting on what EBVH8WG said. Appreciate the comments, guys.
- 22:04Speaker 2: Love the discussion. Doyers disrespected Yamamoto bad. He's your ace
- 22:08Speaker 2: and saved your ass in 2025. And this is how
- 22:11Speaker 2: you treat... I don't see it that way. I just
- 22:13Speaker 2: see it as a matchup thing. Obviously, I like backing
- 22:16Speaker 2: the lefties up against one another. Tarek Skubal, Blake Snell,
- 22:19Speaker 2: plus their boys now. I feel like If you didn't
- 22:22Speaker 2: start Blake Snell, he'd cry. No, I'm kidding. So I
- 22:25Speaker 2: don't mind it. I don't think Yama feels disrespected. I
- 22:28Speaker 2: think Yama is a team player. He's one of 26.
- 22:31Speaker 2: He's the World Series MVP. And whenever you throw him
- 22:36Speaker 2: out there, he's going to do the job. And what
- 22:38Speaker 2: I love the most about him, and I'm not trying
- 22:40Speaker 2: to jinx him, is the man posts every single time.
- 22:42Speaker 2: He's healthy. and he shoves, and you don't have to
- 22:45Speaker 2: worry about him missing time. So I like this, and
- 22:49Speaker 2: I like the fact that we don't know who's going tomorrow.
- 22:51Speaker 2: That means that they're struggling. They're struggling with their rotation.
- 22:54Speaker 2: They don't know who's going tomorrow.
- 22:57Speaker 1: They don't. We can look here on this particular asset
- 23:01Speaker 1: I'm throwing up on the screen here. Yeah, it's a TBD.
- 23:04Speaker 1: We're talking about a TBD in NLDS game two. That's
- 23:09Speaker 1: what I'm talking about.
- 23:10Speaker 2: That's so insane that you don't you're so broken, I guess,
- 23:16Speaker 2: for lack of a better phrase, because Atlanta is a
- 23:18Speaker 2: good team. I'm not trying to be disrespectful, but you're
- 23:20Speaker 2: so disjointed on how you got into the postseason that
- 23:23Speaker 2: you're not even sure who the best option is when
- 23:25Speaker 2: it's just game two of the NLDS because you had
- 23:28Speaker 2: to play in the wild card series and. you know,
- 23:30Speaker 2: you didn't address your rotation stuff. So you had to
- 23:33Speaker 2: use sale or excuse me, your bullpen stuff. So you
- 23:35Speaker 2: had to use sale coming out of the bullpen, even
- 23:37Speaker 2: though a lot of people said, why it wasn't necessarily
- 23:39Speaker 2: a good idea, but, um, listen, I love it. I love, uh,
- 23:44Speaker 2: Snell against I'll take Snell against all TBDs.
- 23:47Speaker 1: He will definitely, he is, he is also, it's, it's
- 23:50Speaker 1: worth reminding everybody, a two-time Cy Young award winner. And
- 23:53Speaker 1: when he was on the mound outside of his first
- 23:56Speaker 1: game back or his first start this year when he
- 23:58Speaker 1: was on the mound for this team this year, he
- 23:59Speaker 1: was fantastic. And he was somebody I was arguing could
- 24:02Speaker 1: and should start game one. You know, Scooble, I wouldn't
- 24:05Speaker 1: say scuffled down the stretch, but he was, you know,
- 24:08Speaker 1: he wasn't the Tarek Scooble we were expecting down the
- 24:11Speaker 1: stretch before he locked it in. And of course locked
- 24:14Speaker 1: it in game one. There is no right answer. Again,
- 24:16Speaker 1: there is no wrong answer, but you feel real good
- 24:21Speaker 1: about where this team is. And if you guys want
- 24:23Speaker 1: to watch that game again, It's going to be on
- 24:25Speaker 1: with our friends at Fox 1. MLB on Fox is
- 24:28Speaker 1: streaming on Fox 1. It's going to be on FS1 tomorrow,
- 24:31Speaker 1: the postseason here. And we have all your front row
- 24:33Speaker 1: seats to the wireless walk-off. Lights out pitching like we
- 24:36Speaker 1: saw today. And clutch plays all playoffs long. Stream each
- 24:41Speaker 1: NLDS and NLCS game. And then your 2026 World Series
- 24:45Speaker 1: live on Fox 1. At home or on the go.
- 24:48Speaker 1: Live or on demand. Never miss a moment. Stream now.
- 24:50Speaker 1: Start your Fox 1 three-day stream. Too many numbers altogether.
- 24:55Speaker 1: Fox one, three day free trial at foxone.com. Couple more
- 25:01Speaker 1: little odds and ends to button up. Quickly talk about the,
- 25:06Speaker 1: the roster situation. DePaula and Heson Kim, Josue DePaula, Heson
- 25:12Speaker 1: Kim on Alex Call, Alex Freeland off. And in the bullpen,
- 25:16Speaker 1: Edgardo Henriquez returns. We already mentioned Brock Stewart made it. Yeah,
- 25:20Speaker 1: on his birthday. On his birthday. Happy birthday, Beef. And
- 25:23Speaker 1: then no Sheehan, no Robo, and no Jack Dreyer. Any
- 25:27Speaker 1: feelings about that?
- 25:28Speaker 2: Sheehan, I'm not surprised because we didn't need him in
- 25:32Speaker 2: the starting rotation, and he's not necessarily a guy that's
- 25:34Speaker 2: going to be adept yet coming out of the bullpen,
- 25:36Speaker 2: I don't think. I mean, that's not– that's not his strength. Right.
- 25:39Speaker 2: So I'm not surprised there does not mean he won't
- 25:41Speaker 2: be on in a seven game series. I think you
- 25:43Speaker 2: can definitely see more pictures in a seven game series
- 25:46Speaker 2: than obviously, uh, in a five game series, Jack dryer,
- 25:50Speaker 2: same reason, not necessarily surprised about that. Super stoked that
- 25:53Speaker 2: Henriquez is back. He's my reliever of the year. I
- 25:55Speaker 2: don't care. Um, he's just been so tremendous and very underrated. Uh,
- 26:01Speaker 2: Hess on Kim makes sense. I guess, uh, I don't know.
- 26:04Speaker 2: I mean, I feel badly for Alex Cole because he
- 26:06Speaker 2: was on the roster the entire season.
- 26:08Speaker 1: He knows.
- 26:09Speaker 2: But, you know, yeah. And also Ed and Paula, we
- 26:11Speaker 2: know because he's been giving us really good at-bats, the energy,
- 26:14Speaker 2: those types of things. So, I mean, again, you're going
- 26:17Speaker 2: to piss off somebody. But hopefully these guys understand that
- 26:20Speaker 2: they are a part of the big picture overall. And
- 26:23Speaker 2: there will be... You know, they're part of the quest
- 26:26Speaker 2: to get to three, but you only can take 26 guys.
- 26:29Speaker 2: And with the depth that the Dodgers have and the
- 26:31Speaker 2: luxury that they have, I get it. There's nothing that
- 26:36Speaker 2: was like, oh, my God, you know, how egregious.
- 26:40Speaker 1: We had a feeling of what the 26 guys would
- 26:42Speaker 1: look like. But as this team maintains, even from day
- 26:45Speaker 1: one at spring training, it's a lot more than 26
- 26:48Speaker 1: guys on the everyday roster. It's a lot more than
- 26:50Speaker 1: the 40 men on the 40-man roster. a lot more
- 26:54Speaker 1: than the 60-plus people they have in that room when
- 26:57Speaker 1: they enter spring training. And the Dodgers do a fantastic
- 27:00Speaker 1: job of preaching that, as you very well know, having
- 27:04Speaker 1: been a part of so many of those early Camelback
- 27:08Speaker 1: Ranch meetings there. So I don't think anybody's upset. I
- 27:12Speaker 1: think Alex call is happy to be there. Happy to
- 27:15Speaker 1: be a part of the team in some capacity, hanging
- 27:18Speaker 1: out with the boys. He still gets to eat good.
- 27:20Speaker 1: He still gets to drink good along the way.
- 27:22Speaker 2: And he still gets a ring and you know, he
- 27:25Speaker 2: understands his role. I mean, he's a, he's a role player.
- 27:27Speaker 2: He's not a superstar. He understands that friend of the show.
- 27:30Speaker 2: He's been on the show. Great guy to talk to.
- 27:32Speaker 2: Great guy to, you know, kind of pick his brain. Yeah. Listen,
- 27:37Speaker 2: like I said, I say listen way too much. There's
- 27:40Speaker 2: 26 spots, and that is it. He understands that his
- 27:44Speaker 2: role is not in the NLDS, does not mean the
- 27:46Speaker 2: CS and World Series are not on the table. We
- 27:49Speaker 2: just don't know yet. It depends on who we match
- 27:50Speaker 2: up against and what the needs are, health, all the things.
- 27:53Speaker 2: So a couple of other super, not super chats, but
- 27:55Speaker 2: chats I wanted to get to here.
- 27:57Speaker 1: We do have another one from Nancy Brown. Oh, Nancy Brown, girl. Sorry,
- 28:01Speaker 1: wrong one. There we go. There's from Nancy Brown.
- 28:04Speaker 2: There we go. Yes, they did. The boys came to play.
- 28:06Speaker 2: Love the focus. Love the grit. One and one. Ten
- 28:08Speaker 2: to go. Let's do this. LFG, I love you.
- 28:10Speaker 1: Oh, she got a.
- 28:11Speaker 2: Softball in there too, Nancy Brown. All right. So a
- 28:13Speaker 2: couple of things in here. So C, Cousinism. I don't
- 28:16Speaker 2: know how to say that. I'm probably saying it wrong.
- 28:19Speaker 2: Wanted to know what wine I was drinking. It's garbage.
- 28:21Speaker 2: It's like Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc. It's nothing exciting. Also
- 28:25Speaker 2: wanted to know who was.
- 28:26Speaker 1: In the– Nobody asked about my Twisted Tea.
- 28:30Speaker 2: How about Twisted Tea sponsor us, for God's sake? Yeah,
- 28:34Speaker 2: pick a boy up. Also wanted to know who was
- 28:37Speaker 2: in the picture with me. Come on, man. That's the late,
- 28:40Speaker 2: great Vin Scully. My man. The best guy in the
- 28:43Speaker 2: whole world. So that's who's there. That's who's there. I
- 28:46Speaker 2: think that was it.
- 28:47Speaker 1: Did you see? I think it was yesterday. Ten years ago.
- 28:49Speaker 2: Ten years.
- 28:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:50Speaker 2: He said goodbye. Said goodbye for the last time on
- 28:54Speaker 2: the broadcast.
- 28:54Speaker 1: It's still like, you know, got Dusty in the room again.
- 28:57Speaker 2: Ten years is insane to think. Yeah.
- 29:01Speaker 1: After 67 years in the booth. After 67 years, yeah. Spending,
- 29:06Speaker 1: you know, obviously your relationship was a lot different there
- 29:09Speaker 1: with Vin.
- 29:10Speaker 2: Yeah, but you grew up with him. I didn't have
- 29:12Speaker 2: that opportunity. I didn't grow up in Southern California.
- 29:14Speaker 1: Yeah, with us.
- 29:15Speaker 2: Special relationship with him.
- 29:17Speaker 1: What made Vin so great was that, you know, he
- 29:21Speaker 1: was family. He was a friend. Like, you spent over
- 29:24Speaker 1: the summer, you spent each night Hanging out with your friend,
- 29:27Speaker 1: Vin Scully, who's going to tell you about what's going
- 29:29Speaker 1: on in the game and tell you stories about these people,
- 29:32Speaker 1: these players. Obviously, this booth we have now is fantastic.
- 29:37Speaker 1: I love Joe Davis. I love Steven Nelson. For sure.
- 29:40Speaker 1: to hear one more Vin Scully game, like even, you know,
- 29:43Speaker 1: we talked recently about the, the old, you know, no
- 29:45Speaker 1: more four plus one game and all of that, um,
- 29:48Speaker 1: here in Vinnie call that, and even getting some of
- 29:50Speaker 1: the Charlie Steiner calling, there was still like, Oh, I
- 29:53Speaker 1: miss you, Vin. We, we all miss Vin. Um, Final
- 29:58Speaker 1: two things before we get out. By the way, my
- 30:00Speaker 1: buddies are over live on All Dodgers. I'm going to
- 30:02Speaker 1: join there. We'll keep the conversation going and all of
- 30:06Speaker 1: that kind of stuff. But you knew it was coming, Riz.
- 30:09Speaker 1: People saying Dodger Stadium was so empty. It was fucking hot.
- 30:15Speaker 1: And a lot of people were under the concourse.
- 30:18Speaker 2: Yeah, it was 100 degrees. You know, Dodger fans have always...
- 30:23Speaker 2: for years and years and years, have been said to
- 30:26Speaker 2: not show up until late. They leave early, all the things.
- 30:30Speaker 2: I was a little surprised at the empty seats. I
- 30:32Speaker 2: get it. It is 100 and something degrees. But I
- 30:35Speaker 2: will say this, too. It wasn't because ticket prices were high.
- 30:38Speaker 2: If you looked on SeatGeek, the Dodgers, the NLDS had
- 30:43Speaker 2: some of the best pricing. And let me say this, too,
- 30:45Speaker 2: about the Dodgers organization, because I know everybody wants to
- 30:47Speaker 2: talk about how much tickets are and this, that, and
- 30:51Speaker 2: the other, and I get that. But the Dodgers, to
- 30:53Speaker 2: their credit, did what they could. They couldn't control the weather.
- 30:57Speaker 2: They didn't choose the 1 p.m. Pacific start time, okay?
- 31:00Speaker 2: They did not. So they handed out water to every
- 31:04Speaker 2: single person that came into the game, free water. So
- 31:09Speaker 2: good for them. They didn't have to do that. I
- 31:10Speaker 2: understand they should do that, but a lot of teams
- 31:14Speaker 2: do not. So it's hot. I get it. But you
- 31:15Speaker 2: know what? No excuses tomorrow, guys, okay? We've got a
- 31:19Speaker 2: 5 p.m. start, an 8 p.m. start on the East Coast.
- 31:22Speaker 2: Let's get there. Let's fill the stadium. Let's show the
- 31:24Speaker 2: boys that we appreciate them and take game two. And
- 31:28Speaker 2: then it's just one more.
- 31:29Speaker 1: One more. The last thing I want to say quickly.
- 31:33Speaker 1: I'm going to talk shit about the Dodgers about this.
- 31:35Speaker 2: $ 65 to park. No.
- 31:35Speaker 1: Just no, okay? No. That's dumb.
- 31:41Speaker 2: I know.
- 31:42Speaker 1: While gas is, you know, $ 6, $ 7 a gallon right now.
- 31:47Speaker 2: I saw over $ 7 today for a gallon of gas.
- 31:50Speaker 2: And it's starting to, like, it's really bad here, too.
- 31:52Speaker 2: Not California bad, but in Massachusetts it's starting. Like, we're
- 31:56Speaker 2: up to, like, $ 6. Like, for here, that's like, what?
- 31:59Speaker 2: But anyway, yeah, that's insane pricing. So do it like
- 32:02Speaker 2: in the old days when you went to the drive-thru
- 32:03Speaker 2: and you put 79 people in your trunk and tried
- 32:06Speaker 2: to get in. That's the way that you can save
- 32:09Speaker 2: some money.
- 32:10Speaker 1: They'll know. It might drive you across the scale to
- 32:12Speaker 1: see who's in there. But, guys, we appreciate you hanging
- 32:14Speaker 1: out with us. Subscribe again if you haven't done it.
- 32:16Speaker 1: Hit the thumbs up. Share with friends. All that kind
- 32:18Speaker 1: of stuff. We'll be back tomorrow postgame. Dodgers be up
- 32:21Speaker 1: 2-0 in the series.
- 32:22Speaker 2: Bye, guys. We'll see you then.
