- 0:07Speaker 1: This podcast. Welcome to Meet Eater Trivia, the only game
- 0:12Speaker 1: show where conservation always wins. I'm your host, Spencer new
- 0:16Speaker 1: Arth and today we're joined by Randall, Cal Nate, Sarah, Marge, Chili,
- 0:20Speaker 1: Logan and Matt. This is a ten round quiz show
- 0:23Speaker 1: with questions from Meat Eater's four verticals, which are Hunting, Fishing, conservation,
- 0:27Speaker 1: at cooking, and there is a prize. Meat Eater will
- 0:29Speaker 1: donate five hundred dollars to the conservation organization of the
- 0:32Speaker 1: winner's choosing And for the stat of the week this week,
- 0:35Speaker 1: we're looking at the number ten. That's how many points
- 0:38Speaker 1: meet Cal and Chili beat Randall and Phil By at
- 0:41Speaker 1: Bar Trivia last Friday with a final score of fifty
- 0:45Speaker 1: four to forty four, Summer declaring it the greatest upset and.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Bart the first game in which we defeated you.
- 0:54Speaker 3: You're also leaving out the fact that the questions were
- 0:57Speaker 3: awarding points in three and five point increments.
- 1:00Speaker 1: It was a very weird game of tributa. What was
- 1:02Speaker 1: the score on the first one?
- 1:03Speaker 4: Do you know?
- 1:04Speaker 5: I don't remember.
- 1:04Speaker 6: No.
- 1:05Speaker 4: I think we were competitive in that one, at least.
- 1:08Speaker 5: I think if you were to just let the ai thing.
- 1:10Speaker 5: Sum this up, you would still be the losers.
- 1:13Speaker 4: Yeah, you're sore losers.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Tell me about the trivia experience, Randall describe it for listeners.
- 1:20Speaker 3: Well, it was interesting because we got there early, thinking
- 1:23Speaker 3: that you'd need to get there early to get a table,
- 1:26Speaker 3: and then at five till there was still no one there,
- 1:30Speaker 3: and we thought maybe we just wasted a bunch of
- 1:32Speaker 3: time and got a few beers in before we really
- 1:34Speaker 3: needed to. And then it filled in and it was
- 1:37Speaker 3: quite a rowdy bunch. There were Friday night at least
- 1:41Speaker 3: a dozen teams, and the first round, the first set
- 1:46Speaker 3: of questions, I thought, hey, we're off to a good start.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Okay, you know, you explained to me afterwards the category
- 1:54Speaker 1: was general knowledge.
- 1:55Speaker 4: Yeah, it's like jeopardy.
- 1:57Speaker 1: But then the questions had like multiple questions about Julius Caesar,
- 2:00Speaker 1: and you're like, well he was doing a thing about
- 2:02Speaker 1: war generals. In game two they had general knowledge again,
- 2:06Speaker 1: but it was not about war generals.
- 2:07Speaker 4: Well, I let me let me clarify it.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Okay.
- 2:10Speaker 3: In that first game, I thought that was a clever
- 2:13Speaker 3: category game, and then things went off the rails.
- 2:16Speaker 1: It was bad. It was bad trivia.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Yeah, the Molly Brown I will say it again, is
- 2:22Speaker 2: the only good place to play trivia in city.
- 2:24Speaker 5: I liked the fourteen dollars burger and a beer combo. Yes,
- 2:30Speaker 5: that really like smashes it in the face of the
- 2:33Speaker 5: rest of the Bozeman establishments. They serve a smash burger
- 2:38Speaker 5: for twenty two dollars.
- 2:39Speaker 3: There was also a twenty dollars There was a twenty
- 2:42Speaker 3: dollars chips and queso and a picture of beer special.
- 2:45Speaker 7: Now, but you're.
- 2:46Speaker 8: Ordering food from Bar nine, let me remind.
- 2:48Speaker 5: It was smash bad.
- 2:52Speaker 4: I would rate the food actually.
- 2:53Speaker 5: Better than a Yeah.
- 2:55Speaker 1: I wasn't to impressed with the big buck hunter though,
- 2:58Speaker 1: game that they got there.
- 2:59Speaker 5: That's for people with handed What was the.
- 3:03Speaker 6: Age demographic, because I know in the evenings it's usually.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Like college kids up to like, I don't know, people
- 3:10Speaker 1: in their forties. Yeah, we're squarely in the middle of it.
- 3:13Speaker 4: Yeah, I think we're in the middle of it.
- 3:14Speaker 5: And again the large percentage of the people in their forties.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Yeah, that the trivia was very flawed. Uh, the guy
- 3:21Speaker 1: had his hands full. At one point the chance started
- 3:23Speaker 1: breaking out about like that's not a cut, that's not.
- 3:27Speaker 2: A controversial chance.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Actually, I was going to leave that part out. But yes,
- 3:34Speaker 1: the dude had a straight up wrong question. We're going
- 3:37Speaker 1: to do trivia again, but it's not going to be
- 3:38Speaker 1: on a Friday night.
- 3:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:40Speaker 3: Well, I mean the nice thing about that trivia is
- 3:41Speaker 3: it starts at six, so for those of us who
- 3:44Speaker 3: like to be in bed by nine, it was very accommodating.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Yeah, so me call and chili. We beat randalin phil
- 3:50Speaker 1: There's a lot of fun.
- 3:50Speaker 4: Yep, that's the takeaway.
- 3:53Speaker 5: All right.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Here's our Infrequently Asked Questions segment. If you have a
- 3:57Speaker 1: trivia related question for our crew, send it to Trivia
- 4:00Speaker 1: at the medeater dot com with the subject line I FAQ.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Devin Bartek says, where has Chester been? Chester moved, Chester
- 4:08Speaker 1: moved to Wisconsin. He still works at meat Eater, So
- 4:11Speaker 1: you're not gonna hear Chester on trivia very much coming up.
- 4:14Speaker 1: But if you want some more Chester media to radio,
- 4:16Speaker 1: we record that live on Thursdays. The audio version you
- 4:20Speaker 1: can listen to on Fridays. We have a segment called
- 4:22Speaker 1: Chetticut where Chester writes a nice little song to answer
- 4:26Speaker 1: some listener's question where they're in a moral predicament about
- 4:30Speaker 1: the outdoors. If you want more Chester. You can get
- 4:33Speaker 1: more Chester there. It's one of my favorite segments we do.
- 4:35Speaker 1: It's not every week, but once or twice a month.
- 4:38Speaker 1: You're gonna get some chettik kit over there. We recently
- 4:41Speaker 1: had a question about when we were filming Roast, if
- 4:44Speaker 1: we could change one thing at Meat Eater, what would
- 4:45Speaker 1: it be. Randall said he would make Chester move back
- 4:48Speaker 1: to Montana. Yes, so we all miss Chester? Yes, all right,
- 4:51Speaker 1: now we have some housekeeping to get to. During the
- 4:53Speaker 1: med Eater trivia tournament, we had a question about waning
- 4:56Speaker 1: and waxing moons. Waning refers to a moon phase that
- 4:59Speaker 1: is decreasing in brightness, while waxing refers to a moon
- 5:02Speaker 1: phase that is increasing in brightness. And you can tell
- 5:06Speaker 1: if a moon is waning or waxing by looking at
- 5:08Speaker 1: what side the light is on. It's got a few
- 5:10Speaker 1: listeners to write in with an easy rhyme to help
- 5:13Speaker 1: you remember which is which it goes wax on quote.
- 5:17Speaker 5: Weighing off no light on right it's getting bright.
- 5:25Speaker 1: This means if a partially lit moon is bright on
- 5:28Speaker 1: its right side, then the moon is waxing or getting
- 5:31Speaker 1: bigger than the following night. The moon will be brighter,
- 5:34Speaker 1: growing each day until it's a full moon. And on
- 5:36Speaker 1: the contrary, if the light is on the left side,
- 5:39Speaker 1: then the moon is shrinking or waning. So again, light
- 5:43Speaker 1: on right, it's getting bright.
- 5:46Speaker 7: Is that a hemisphere thing or is that universal?
- 5:48Speaker 1: I don't know. I just assume everyone listening is in
- 5:50Speaker 1: the Northern Hemisphere. Sorry for our folks in Australia's New
- 5:53Speaker 1: Zealand and the Southern Hemisphere. Oh yeah, yeah them too,
- 5:57Speaker 1: So that doesn't apply to you. They're toilets flush backwards too.
- 6:01Speaker 5: So what do what your haircut cost? Looks like a
- 6:04Speaker 5: fancy haircut.
- 6:05Speaker 1: I go buy a haircut about ones every two months.
- 6:08Speaker 1: I don't know what it costs. Been going to the
- 6:10Speaker 1: same lady pretty much since I moved here. Wow, four
- 6:13Speaker 1: corners Montana. What's your haircut cost?
- 6:15Speaker 5: Yes? Yeah, just time, buddy.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Now the shelby and extra today is a four. So
- 6:22Speaker 1: our winners should get eight correct answers and with that
- 6:25Speaker 1: we're onto meat Eater Trivia, play the drop pill. Look,
- 6:31Speaker 1: I need to know what I stay underwind everything?
- 6:36Speaker 4: How's that?
- 6:37Speaker 1: Just tend to win everything?
- 6:45Speaker 7: Does anyone get the pre race pee feeling?
- 6:47Speaker 4: Can you wait until the.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Question one?
- 6:53Speaker 5: Thank you real. We've all heard the drop.
- 6:56Speaker 1: The topic is gear. This will be multiple choice. Which
- 7:00Speaker 1: of these pellet sizes is biggest? Is it triple B, F,
- 7:06Speaker 1: double AT or T? And double lot is written out
- 7:11Speaker 1: number zero zero? So which of these pellet sizes is biggest?
- 7:15Speaker 1: Triple B, F, double OT or T.
- 7:19Speaker 4: Cal.
- 7:20Speaker 2: You're probably one of those monsters who skips the credits
- 7:22Speaker 2: when you watch TV shows, aren't you.
- 7:25Speaker 5: It's part of the tone setting. It's important.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Bill, what's your favorite favorite credit?
- 7:34Speaker 2: Oh that's a great question, I got that.
- 7:39Speaker 8: Snatch.
- 7:41Speaker 1: You're not familiar with that one.
- 7:43Speaker 8: Oh my gosh.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Which of these pellet sizes is biggest? Triple B, F,
- 7:50Speaker 1: double lot, T is? Everybody ready go ahead and reveal
- 7:56Speaker 1: your answers. We have Marge saying triple B, Logan, Matt Randall, Chili, Sarah,
- 8:04Speaker 1: Nate and Cal say double ot. They got it. The
- 8:07Speaker 1: correct answer is double ot. That's number zero zero. Triple
- 8:12Speaker 1: B is point one point eight inches in diameter, T
- 8:16Speaker 1: is point two inches, F is point two two inches,
- 8:21Speaker 1: and double lot is point three three inches. Double Lot
- 8:24Speaker 1: is buckshot and one of the biggest pellets produced, behind
- 8:27Speaker 1: only triple OT and the rare quadruple. At question two,
- 8:33Speaker 1: the topic is conservation. This next great question is via
- 8:36Speaker 1: Nicholas Johnson. What does CREP stand for? That's c r
- 8:42Speaker 1: e P? The topic is conservation. What does CREP stand for?
- 8:50Speaker 1: Calin Randall quick to answer this one. No, not Randall,
- 8:54Speaker 1: just Cal. Cal is quick to answer this one. What
- 8:57Speaker 1: does c r e P stand for? Randall? You know
- 9:06Speaker 1: this one?
- 9:08Speaker 4: I'm working on it.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Okay, Cal, Do you know this one with certainty?
- 9:16Speaker 5: Mm? No, no, not with certainty.
- 9:20Speaker 1: What does c r e P stand for? We could
- 9:28Speaker 1: have a zero percenter here? On question two?
- 9:36Speaker 4: Mmm?
- 9:39Speaker 1: How many letters do you think you have? Randall?
- 9:43Speaker 4: Uh?
- 9:43Speaker 3: One at the moment, Okay, I've heard, I've I've heard
- 9:46Speaker 3: this acronym before.
- 9:48Speaker 4: I'm digging around in the depths of my mind for
- 9:53Speaker 4: what it might be.
- 9:54Speaker 1: Logan, How do you feel about your answer?
- 9:57Speaker 5: Not good?
- 9:57Speaker 1: Not good? What does CREP stand for? Or Cal? How
- 10:07Speaker 1: many letters do you think you have right so far?
- 10:10Speaker 1: Out of the four?
- 10:12Speaker 5: I don't know. I can tell you how many I
- 10:13Speaker 5: have wrong?
- 10:14Speaker 9: Though?
- 10:14Speaker 1: Okay? What does c R e P stand for? Fild
- 10:27Speaker 1: TV show credits? What's come to mind so far?
- 10:30Speaker 5: FA?
- 10:30Speaker 2: I love the mad Men because the music is kind
- 10:34Speaker 2: of like an anachronistic to the rest of the show,
- 10:35Speaker 2: but it fits really really well.
- 10:37Speaker 1: It fits super well. It also set it up for
- 10:39Speaker 1: I think at the end of the series, don Draper
- 10:41Speaker 1: to kill himself and he never does, so I felt
- 10:44Speaker 1: like I thought that was a little easter egg and
- 10:47Speaker 1: he was. He was going to jump out a skyscraper
- 10:49Speaker 1: window at the end, but he doesn't.
- 10:52Speaker 2: I really like the credits for Did anyone ever watched
- 10:54Speaker 2: BoJack Horseman?
- 10:55Speaker 6: Oh?
- 10:56Speaker 4: Yes, oh yeah.
- 10:56Speaker 5: I like that.
- 10:57Speaker 2: The song was catchy, but also they was one of
- 10:59Speaker 2: those opening credits says where things would change slightly and
- 11:02Speaker 2: everything depending on what was happening.
- 11:03Speaker 1: In the story. Oh that's fun, so you can go back.
- 11:05Speaker 2: And look for some easter eggs and stuff like.
- 11:07Speaker 1: I love that.
- 11:08Speaker 10: I recently watched the credits on. One of my friends
- 11:10Speaker 10: did some animation for the show called common Side Effects.
- 11:13Speaker 10: It's like a new show and it's looking awesome, cool
- 11:17Speaker 10: anything HBO.
- 11:18Speaker 1: I think Succession also had a great session Game of Thrones.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Of course, that one also had a changing credits.
- 11:25Speaker 5: Oh I got so bored with Game of Thrones.
- 11:27Speaker 6: I man, I missed your saying TV. I was referencing
- 11:31Speaker 6: a movie. Oh, so Snatch, and we studied that in
- 11:34Speaker 6: grad school.
- 11:35Speaker 5: Snatch is fantastic.
- 11:36Speaker 8: Yeah, if you haven't seen it, you should watch that.
- 11:39Speaker 5: Walk Stock and Two Smoking Barrels also very good.
- 11:41Speaker 8: Both the credits and both of those are phenomenal.
- 11:43Speaker 1: Does everyone have an answer for what does cr EP
- 11:47Speaker 1: stand for? Go ahead and reveal your answers. We've got
- 11:52Speaker 1: Marge without a C or an R saying environmental protection,
- 11:57Speaker 1: Logan says construction research, environmental protection, Conservation research environmental protection,
- 12:05Speaker 1: Matt crop restoration, Blank, Randall Conservation Reserve Easement Program, CHILI
- 12:13Speaker 1: Conservation Recreation Engagement Program, SARAH Crop Restoration Easement Program, NATE
- 12:23Speaker 1: Conservative Responsible Environmental Protection, cal Conservation Reserve Easement Program. The
- 12:33Speaker 1: correct answer is Conservation Reserve Enhancement. Nobody got it right.
- 12:40Speaker 1: We had a few folks with three out of four letters.
- 12:44Speaker 1: The Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program or CREP is an offshoot
- 12:49Speaker 1: of the Conservation Reserve Program or CRP. Both programs address
- 12:53Speaker 1: similar things, which is creating habitat with native vegetation. The
- 12:57Speaker 1: biggest difference is CREP takes a more localized approach using
- 13:01Speaker 1: federal and non federal funding. CRAP usually has more incentive
- 13:06Speaker 1: based contracts as well. Question three, the topic is fishing
- 13:11Speaker 1: in what state is the Sultan Sea? In what state
- 13:19Speaker 1: is the Sultan Sea? Matt quick to answer, Matt, you
- 13:24Speaker 1: have this one right, okay, nodding his head, Yes.
- 13:28Speaker 4: But I'm from there.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Oh well, oh really, there's an enormous hint if you
- 13:33Speaker 1: know anything about Matt Miller. Does anybody in here know
- 13:38Speaker 1: anything about Matt Miller? That is Matt Randall. You have
- 13:44Speaker 1: this one right.
- 13:46Speaker 4: Matt's little admission there. It gives me an added boost
- 13:50Speaker 4: of confidence.
- 13:51Speaker 1: Okay, you do have this one right. Did Matt's hint
- 13:55Speaker 1: help out any of the folks in the room.
- 13:57Speaker 7: My dad says the same thing about where he's from.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Okay, it's not what I know about Matt.
- 14:03Speaker 8: It gave me a decent guest.
- 14:05Speaker 1: People from in what state?
- 14:07Speaker 4: Where you're from?
- 14:08Speaker 1: Salt in se Kentucky?
- 14:10Speaker 4: Kentucky it is.
- 14:12Speaker 1: It's got that classy, classy Kentucky shame. It's everybody ready,
- 14:20Speaker 1: I don't know Logan, an office neighbor with Mats. He
- 14:24Speaker 1: doesn't even know what state he's from. Yeah, it's true, Chili,
- 14:30Speaker 1: Do you have an answer?
- 14:31Speaker 7: No? No, yeah, no, I don't know I'm gonna be.
- 14:35Speaker 1: Real, go ahead and reveal your answers. We've got Marge
- 14:42Speaker 1: saying California. Logan says Florida, Matt says California, Randalls says Arizona.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Chili without an answer, Sarah and Nate and Cal say California.
- 14:55Speaker 1: The correct answer it's Matt's home state, California.
- 14:59Speaker 4: MAT's got family in Arizona.
- 15:00Speaker 9: Thought was entirely based on your comment there.
- 15:07Speaker 1: I just want you to know that, Oh. The Salt
- 15:09Speaker 1: and Sea is located about one hundred miles east of
- 15:12Speaker 1: San Diego. During the nineteen sixties, it was considered one
- 15:16Speaker 1: of the state's most productive fisheries, producing more poundage of
- 15:20Speaker 1: fish per acre than any other lake in California. About
- 15:24Speaker 1: half a million anglers each year would flock there to
- 15:26Speaker 1: catch corn, corvina, croaker, sargo, and tilapia. But the sea
- 15:34Speaker 1: has become too salty in the last twenty five years,
- 15:37Speaker 1: with game fish populations almost nonexistent today, So it used
- 15:42Speaker 1: to be a phenomenal fishery and now nobody fishes there.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Question for the topic is hunting, and this next great
- 15:48Speaker 1: question is via Samuel hay NFL Hall of Famer Jared
- 15:52Speaker 1: Allen grabbed headlines in two thousand and nine when he
- 15:56Speaker 1: used this weapon to kill an Elk.
- 16:01Speaker 4: This is.
- 16:04Speaker 1: NFL Hall of Famer Jared Allen grabbed headlines in two
- 16:07Speaker 1: thousand and nine when he used this weapon to kill
- 16:10Speaker 1: an elk. Randall, do you have this one right?
- 16:15Speaker 4: Believe so?
- 16:17Speaker 1: Do you remember when this happened? Uh?
- 16:21Speaker 4: Vaguely, I remember Jared Allen and.
- 16:24Speaker 1: Marge miss Vikings fan over here. Yeah, doesn't have an
- 16:27Speaker 1: answer quite yet.
- 16:28Speaker 5: He's gonna ask what team.
- 16:30Speaker 7: I've watched this video but a dozen times. It's epic.
- 16:33Speaker 1: NFL Hall of Famer Jared Allen grabbed headlines in two
- 16:36Speaker 1: thousand and nine when he used this weapon to kill
- 16:40Speaker 1: an Elk.
- 16:40Speaker 7: You gotta be specific with the weapon or just be
- 16:43Speaker 7: like category.
- 16:44Speaker 1: Yes, you need to be specific.
- 16:46Speaker 4: Not stupid, I would say.
- 16:49Speaker 3: I I wrote down Arizona, and then when Matt said
- 16:52Speaker 3: he doesn't tell people he's from there, I thought it's
- 16:54Speaker 3: probably California.
- 16:55Speaker 7: Then you should have wrote down.
- 16:57Speaker 3: But I didn't change my answer because I thought that
- 17:00Speaker 3: would be disingenuous.
- 17:02Speaker 9: That was my line of thinking as well.
- 17:04Speaker 1: I only hear people say that about California.
- 17:06Speaker 2: Are you from the Sultan Sea area. Now, no, okay,
- 17:10Speaker 2: I'm from Orange County.
- 17:12Speaker 4: You do have family in Arizona though, right, I do. Yeah,
- 17:15Speaker 4: that's what I thought.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Again. Round question for the topic is hunting NFL Hall
- 17:24Speaker 1: of Famer Jared all And grabbed headlines in two thousand
- 17:26Speaker 1: and nine when he used this weapon to kill an elk.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Because if you in GTA five, the Sultan Sea is
- 17:34Speaker 2: like an area you can go to and it's mostly
- 17:36Speaker 2: just like youth heads and trailers. It's GTA. I'm sure
- 17:38Speaker 2: it's a it's a blanket stereotype, but I'm very curious
- 17:41Speaker 2: about what it's like.
- 17:42Speaker 1: Is it called the Sultan Sea.
- 17:43Speaker 2: No, it's it's like a slightly off name, like like
- 17:46Speaker 2: the GTA series does, really not too far off the
- 17:48Speaker 2: real thing.
- 17:49Speaker 1: Okay, yep to everybody, ready, go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 17:55Speaker 1: We've got Marge saying a crossbow. Logan says spear, Met
- 18:00Speaker 1: says spear, Randal spear, Chili says handgun, forty four, mag
- 18:06Speaker 1: Sarah says shotgun, Nate says spear, Kal says spear. The
- 18:11Speaker 1: correct answer is a spear. Alan filmed that hunt for
- 18:16Speaker 1: Tim Wells's show Relentless pursuit. He was on a high
- 18:20Speaker 1: fenced game preserve in Illinois and speared the out from
- 18:23Speaker 1: a tree stand while it ate from a bait pile.
- 18:26Speaker 1: The kill was covered by The New York Times and
- 18:28Speaker 1: Bleacher Report, with Alan saying quote, he's addicted to spear hunting.
- 18:33Speaker 1: I don't know how you become addicted to spear hunting,
- 18:35Speaker 1: but that those were the words he used. Question five,
- 18:39Speaker 1: the topic is cooking. This next great question is vera
- 18:42Speaker 1: Jared Eliah.
- 18:44Speaker 5: Maybe it's like a Pavlovian response, like he hears the
- 18:47Speaker 5: corn come out of the feeder.
- 18:50Speaker 4: Jared, he wants.
- 18:54Speaker 1: Yeah. He had said something about like when he plays football,
- 18:56Speaker 1: he gets to unleash all his aggressiveness by us sacking
- 19:00Speaker 1: a quarterback, but when he's hunting, he gets to unleash
- 19:02Speaker 1: that unleash that aggressiveness by spearing an elk. Very familiar. Yeah, yeah,
- 19:08Speaker 1: Question five cooking.
- 19:09Speaker 5: I'd have to know how many sacks he got in
- 19:11Speaker 5: one sea is on and where you'd be like, Okay,

- 19:41Speaker 7: I'm confident.
- 19:42Speaker 1: Have you ever been to the Sultan Sea?
- 19:44Speaker 5: I have?
- 19:44Speaker 1: What were you doing at the Sultan Sea.
- 19:45Speaker 5: Driving right past it?
- 19:47Speaker 7: Okay, it's very salty.
- 19:49Speaker 8: Used to be called the Sultan's Sink.
- 19:51Speaker 2: If you look up fifties fifties videos, it was portrayed
- 19:54Speaker 2: at some awesome water ski, super nice resort, and it's
- 19:57Speaker 2: like completely run down.
- 19:59Speaker 6: Now, Yeah, wasn't that like the Colorado used to form
- 20:03Speaker 6: that it would like switch off, like every decade there'd
- 20:07Speaker 6: be like one instance where build up sediment. Maybe I
- 20:10Speaker 6: don't know what flood California, and then it would build
- 20:13Speaker 6: up sediment again, I go into the Gulf.
- 20:16Speaker 8: I'm reading the Emerald Mile right now.
- 20:18Speaker 1: You would know more than me. But I feel like
- 20:21Speaker 1: those C type areas rarely have something flowing into them.
- 20:25Speaker 1: They'd rather just.
- 20:27Speaker 6: Yeah, it would have happened like once a decade. It
- 20:29Speaker 6: happened for a little bit, and then the sediment would
- 20:31Speaker 6: build up and it would be like woop, going back.
- 20:33Speaker 1: Well, the Colorado does jump into the Gulf of California
- 20:36Speaker 1: right there, so it'd have to flow right extra.
- 20:37Speaker 8: You're probably right March before all the dams got put in.
- 20:40Speaker 1: This five letter word is defined as a piece of tough,
- 20:44Speaker 1: fibrous tissue uniting muscle to bone or bone to bone. Sarah,
- 20:51Speaker 1: do you have this one right?
- 20:53Speaker 8: I think so?
- 20:53Speaker 1: Okay, you met look confident. Marge. Do you have this
- 20:58Speaker 1: one right?
- 20:59Speaker 5: I think?
- 21:00Speaker 8: I think so?
- 21:01Speaker 1: Cal? Do you have this one right?
- 21:03Speaker 5: Your last time we had spell this word with this
- 21:08Speaker 5: amount of letters. I just wrote the word that I
- 21:11Speaker 5: wanted it to be with that amount of It's a
- 21:13Speaker 5: spelling error, and I feel like I'm on the track
- 21:16Speaker 5: you might have spelled.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Okay, is everybody ready? Ye, go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 21:23Speaker 1: We've gotten Marge and Logan and Matt saying sinew, Randa
- 21:28Speaker 1: without an answer, Chili without an answer. Sarah says sinew,
- 21:33Speaker 1: Nate says fasca. Cal says fascia. The correct answer is sinew.
- 21:41Speaker 1: That's si. Similar to tendons and ligaments, sinu is connective
- 21:48Speaker 1: tissue that stabilizes and aids in movement. The biggest sources
- 21:53Speaker 1: of it are around the backstrap and lower legs. On animals.
- 21:56Speaker 1: It is sometimes used by survivalists as cordage bill. We're
- 22:00Speaker 1: halfway through the game of trivia. Give us a scoreboard update, brutal.
- 22:06Speaker 2: Here we are last place. We have Chili with one point.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Maggie and Randall Williams have two points. Logan's Sarah, Nate
- 22:16Speaker 2: and Coal are all tied up with three points. And
- 22:18Speaker 2: in first place it's Matt Miller. He's got four points.
- 22:22Speaker 7: Right, Matt, not gonna get cocky?
- 22:24Speaker 4: No, not one.
- 22:29Speaker 1: Question six, the topic is conservation. This land management technique
- 22:35Speaker 1: involves partially cutting through a tree and laying it on
- 22:38Speaker 1: the ground to create horizontal structure.
- 22:42Speaker 5: Oh, I know somebody who hates this.
- 22:45Speaker 1: Who is it, Doug Durrant? This land management technique involves
- 22:51Speaker 1: partially cutting through a tree and laying it on the
- 22:54Speaker 1: ground to create horizontal structure. Cal the only player to
- 23:00Speaker 1: come up with an answer so far, or Nate.
- 23:01Speaker 4: Nate.
- 23:02Speaker 1: Nate also has an answer.
- 23:03Speaker 7: All these whitetail haters getting what's do Nate?
- 23:06Speaker 1: Where's your dad from? Who feels great shame about his
- 23:09Speaker 1: home state California?
- 23:10Speaker 7: Okay, he was like born there, lived there for like
- 23:12Speaker 7: a month, and then moved to Texas.
- 23:15Speaker 1: So he tells people, Thank Texan. Indeed, this land management
- 23:19Speaker 1: technique involves partially cutting through a tree and laying it
- 23:22Speaker 1: on the ground to create horizontal structure. Nate and Cow
- 23:27Speaker 1: maybe the only ones who get this one right, Randall,
- 23:30Speaker 1: do you have an answer yet?
- 23:32Speaker 4: No, I don't.
- 23:33Speaker 1: Tough day for Randal it is, but he's been on
- 23:35Speaker 1: a hot streak lately.
- 23:37Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 23:37Speaker 1: I think maybe we shook his confidence on Friday night
- 23:39Speaker 1: at Bark.
- 23:40Speaker 4: We're too close to the sun here.
- 23:42Speaker 5: Yeah, this is.
- 23:43Speaker 10: Making me question your crossword scores, Randall.
- 23:45Speaker 3: Well, you know my crossword scores because you're sitting in
- 23:49Speaker 3: the office opposite for me.
- 23:51Speaker 4: You can't fake that.
- 23:52Speaker 5: Speed Spencer told me watching Randall at Trivia Friday night,
- 23:56Speaker 5: it was like watching like somebody who goes to the
- 23:58Speaker 5: rock climbing gym five days a week and then goes
- 24:01Speaker 5: out on real rock. I was like, that is brutal.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Yeah, that is brutal.
- 24:10Speaker 1: It's almost as though I didn't actually say that.
- 24:13Speaker 5: I don't think his own game as as a sham.
- 24:19Speaker 7: Logan.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Do you know Randall's home stage. We're gonna ask you
- 24:21Speaker 1: about your neighbors and where they're from. Yeah, Randall is
- 24:25Speaker 1: also Logan's office neighbor, No, he doesn't know.
- 24:30Speaker 7: Oh, it's so easy.
- 24:34Speaker 4: Where was I born?
- 24:35Speaker 7: Cincinnati?
- 24:37Speaker 4: Where was I born? You don't know that.
- 24:43Speaker 3: No one knows that except for the federal government and
- 24:46Speaker 3: my parents.
- 24:49Speaker 1: This land management technique involves partially cutting through a tree
- 24:53Speaker 1: and laying it on the ground to create horizontal structure.
- 24:55Speaker 1: Is everybody ready, go ahead and reveal your answers. We've
- 25:00Speaker 1: got Marge, who drew us a nice little tree? Logan
- 25:03Speaker 1: says felling. Matt says habitat engineering randall without an answer.
- 25:08Speaker 1: Chile says cross cut, Sarah says cross sawing. Nate and
- 25:15Speaker 1: col say hinge cutting. They got it. The correct answer
- 25:18Speaker 1: is hinge cutting. Hinge cutting will keep the tree alive,
- 25:22Speaker 1: creating cover and brows at ground level. It's a land
- 25:25Speaker 1: management technique that's become popular in the last decade among
- 25:28Speaker 1: deer hunters, but the practice also benefits rabbits and ground
- 25:32Speaker 1: nesting birds. For more on this practice, check out Wired
- 25:35Speaker 1: to Hunt's article called how to improve any bedding area.
- 25:38Speaker 4: Dude, some day trading there?
- 25:40Speaker 7: Oh no, I'm just figuring out where you were born.
- 25:44Speaker 1: Order question seven. The topic is wildlife. This double crested

- 26:02Speaker 1: water bird is known for wing spreading, a standing technique
- 26:06Speaker 1: it uses to dry its feathers. Nate with a quick answer,
- 26:10Speaker 1: who also has his cell phone out?
- 26:12Speaker 7: I'm doing a public good.
- 26:14Speaker 1: You're trying to find out where Randall was born? Huh?
- 26:18Speaker 1: Starting to think he was born out of the country.
- 26:21Speaker 4: Nope, nope, I'm still eligible for Does it start with
- 26:24Speaker 4: it with T? No? The town or state? We can?
- 26:30Speaker 7: I give you the county, sure, Hamilton, No, that's Cincinnati.
- 26:37Speaker 1: Again. In question seven, no.
- 26:41Speaker 4: Where I went to school?
- 26:42Speaker 2: May, I'll remind you that you are tied for first
- 26:44Speaker 2: place right now? Do you you actually want to play
- 26:46Speaker 2: the game?
- 26:48Speaker 7: This is my new strategy is not being completely emotionally invested.
- 26:51Speaker 1: But you feel good about your answer on this one? Mary, okay,
- 26:54Speaker 1: cal you look like you have it. Shot one? Okay, Randall?
- 26:59Speaker 1: Do have this one? Right? No? No, how about you, Matt.
- 27:04Speaker 4: Although Nate's hint about almost shooting one is interesting.
- 27:07Speaker 1: That's not.
- 27:10Speaker 7: This similar repercussion.
- 27:13Speaker 1: Double crested water bird is known for wing spreading, a
- 27:17Speaker 1: standing technique it uses to dry its feathers. It's everybody ready, Sure,
- 27:26Speaker 1: go ahead and reveal your answers. We've got Marge without
- 27:29Speaker 1: an answer. Logan says sandhill crane. Matt says swan Randal,
- 27:34Speaker 1: Pelican chili without an answer. Sarah Merganser, Nate and Cal
- 27:41Speaker 1: say cormorant. They got it. The correct answer is cormorant.
- 27:46Speaker 1: The double crested cormorant is the most numerous and wide
- 27:49Speaker 1: spread of the six North American cormorant species. They spend
- 27:53Speaker 1: a lot of time in water, but because they don't
- 27:55Speaker 1: have waterproof feathers, they also spend a lot of time drying.
- 27:59Speaker 1: They accomplish it this by standing like Ninja's with their
- 28:01Speaker 1: wings extended outward. Could you picture a cormorant?
- 28:06Speaker 5: Now?
- 28:06Speaker 7: Randall?
- 28:07Speaker 1: What those are? Nate? How did you almost kill yourself
- 28:10Speaker 1: a cormoran? I bet they taste real bad.
- 28:13Speaker 7: I'll give you a short vert. You can't shoot them
- 28:15Speaker 7: in Georgia, which is where I try to learn how
- 28:17Speaker 7: to duck hunt.
- 28:18Speaker 1: I don't know where you could shoot a cormorant.
- 28:20Speaker 5: Well, I think definitely pretty much every state has depredation
- 28:24Speaker 5: permits cormorants for those private fish.
- 28:27Speaker 7: Ponds and So I was kicking around trying to jump
- 28:31Speaker 7: puddle ducks and saw ninja.
- 28:35Speaker 5: Like bird sitting there.
- 28:35Speaker 7: I thought that'd be pretty easy to shoot, and then
- 28:38Speaker 7: I thought so I didn't looked it up.
- 28:43Speaker 4: The boy that sure doesn't look like a duck.
- 28:46Speaker 1: Question eight. The topic is hunting. This seven letter word
- 28:51Speaker 1: refers to the series of short, loud grunts that a
- 28:55Speaker 1: bowl elk often produces at the end of a bugle.
- 29:02Speaker 1: We'll get a scoreboard update from Fill the engineer after this.
- 29:06Speaker 1: This seven letter word refers to the series of short,
- 29:09Speaker 1: loud grunts that a bull elk often produces at the
- 29:13Speaker 1: end of a bugle.
- 29:15Speaker 10: I was gonna trash talk you, Nate, if you're a
- 29:16Speaker 10: white tail comment earlier.
- 29:17Speaker 7: Laid on me. I want it.
- 29:20Speaker 1: Do you have this one right, Nate?
- 29:22Speaker 7: Yes?
- 29:22Speaker 1: Do you have this one right? Matt?
- 29:24Speaker 5: I'm not not confident.
- 29:25Speaker 1: Okay. Do you have a seven letter word?
- 29:27Speaker 5: It's seven letters, okay.
- 29:30Speaker 1: Seven letter word refers to the series of short, loud
- 29:33Speaker 1: grunts that a bull elk often produces at the end
- 29:37Speaker 1: of a bugle.
- 29:38Speaker 7: Are you really not going to say whatever you're going
- 29:39Speaker 7: to say?
- 29:40Speaker 10: Oh no, I couldn't think of a good trash talk. Oh,
- 29:43Speaker 10: I was just hoping someone else might have something along
- 29:45Speaker 10: those lines.
- 29:46Speaker 5: It's the thought that counts.
- 29:47Speaker 1: Yeah, Logan, let's test your other office neighbor trivia. Where's
- 29:52Speaker 1: Californ from?
- 29:55Speaker 5: Dude?
- 29:57Speaker 1: Uh uh man?
- 30:00Speaker 5: A mystery? It's okay?
- 30:02Speaker 2: What does cal talk about a lot?
- 30:06Speaker 1: Marge had to write it down for Logan. Where's Brody from?
- 30:09Speaker 1: Brody is also your office neighbor?
- 30:14Speaker 10: I don't know?
- 30:17Speaker 1: No, Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania again. Question eight. This seven letter word
- 30:23Speaker 1: refers to the series of short, loud grunts. But where
- 30:26Speaker 1: was r often? Is everybody ready? Go ahead? And your
- 30:33Speaker 1: answers Marge without an answer, Logan says, chuckle, Matt chuckle,
- 30:39Speaker 1: Randall chuckle, Chili. Without an answer, We've got Sarah, Nate
- 30:44Speaker 1: and count saying chuckle. They got it. The correct answer
- 30:48Speaker 1: is chuckle. When it comes to chuckles and grunts, Jason
- 30:52Speaker 1: Phelps says he typically likes to mimic the bull he's
- 30:55Speaker 1: calling to, So if that bull is chuckling and grunting,
- 30:58Speaker 1: then he'll chuckle and grunt as well. But if it's not,
- 31:01Speaker 1: then he won't. Here is Dirk Durham from Phelps explaining
- 31:04Speaker 1: the difference between a grunt and a chuckle.
- 31:08Speaker 11: So the grunts are kind of a more drawn out
- 31:11Speaker 11: type of noise, whereas the chuckle is a more rapid,
- 31:15Speaker 11: a little faster tempo type noise. So here's the grunts
- 31:29Speaker 11: and now here's the chuckles.
- 31:37Speaker 4: So he do that without moving his mouth.
- 31:41Speaker 1: Had a video freeze for a second. We're on question nine.
- 31:43Speaker 1: But before we do that, let's get a scoreboard update
- 31:45Speaker 1: from Phil Jesus, don't even say it.
- 31:49Speaker 7: Tell us who's out of the running.
- 31:52Speaker 2: Chili, Maggie Randall are all out of the game, but
- 31:59Speaker 2: Logan and Sarah have four points, Matt has five, and
- 32:03Speaker 2: tied up in first place are Internate and Ryan Callahan.
- 32:07Speaker 4: Wow the benefits, Now.
- 32:12Speaker 7: That's very good.
- 32:14Speaker 1: Question nine. The topic is natural history. This is our

- 33:32Speaker 1: Remind our players and our listeners. I think we're on
- 33:35Speaker 1: a three month drought or overtime, so today could be
- 33:39Speaker 1: the day.
- 33:40Speaker 4: That's exciting.
- 33:41Speaker 2: That's that's crazy.
- 33:45Speaker 1: Like I said, I'm gonna have to look at these
- 33:47Speaker 1: questions again to make sure they're still accurate. I've been
- 33:49Speaker 1: sitting on them for such a long period.
- 33:52Speaker 10: Spencer, how much time per day do you think you
- 33:54Speaker 10: can spend thinking about trivia like all these like random
- 33:56Speaker 10: stats that you come up with. Is this just like
- 33:58Speaker 10: spinning around your head?
- 33:59Speaker 1: You too much?
- 34:00Speaker 4: It is?
- 34:02Speaker 1: The job seeps into the rest of my life.
- 34:05Speaker 9: Is it like a running note sap on the phone scenario?
- 34:08Speaker 1: Okay, okay, Yeah, A lot of trivia gets written while
- 34:11Speaker 1: I'm like eating supper, driving down the road and something
- 34:15Speaker 1: occurs to me, and then it winds up in my phone.
- 34:17Speaker 1: From my phone, it goes to a Google doc, and
- 34:19Speaker 1: from the Google doc it might make it into a script.
- 34:22Speaker 1: So that's just phase one of winding up as being
- 34:26Speaker 1: a question. This nineteen ninety eight comedy follows Chris Farley
- 34:29Speaker 1: and Matthew Perry as they race Lewis and Clark to

- 35:15Speaker 1: Specific. Okay, so what would be the specific answer?
- 35:18Speaker 6: Pala Time, Yeah, you knew everybody Joliet from that.

- 36:31Speaker 1: five months after his death.
- 36:33Speaker 4: There's gotta be a term for a movie that once
- 36:36Speaker 4: all the leads are dead, you know?
- 36:39Speaker 1: Sure?
- 36:41Speaker 3: Like that strikes me when I watch certain like I
- 36:44Speaker 3: guess old movies. Yeah, there's well the old movies like
- 36:48Speaker 3: Bad Bad Santa. There's like a scene with Bernie Mack
- 36:52Speaker 3: and what's.
- 36:54Speaker 1: His name, Billy Bob Thornton.
- 36:58Speaker 4: Who is it? Phil? Thing of event?
- 37:03Speaker 9: Your favorite movie, Matt has a n.
- 37:07Speaker 7: I want to know if we had.
- 37:13Speaker 1: I think this maybe needs to be a future movie
- 37:15Speaker 1: club so I have an excuse to watch it then. Otherwise,
- 37:19Speaker 1: this one, it's one of those movies.
- 37:20Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know the last time you've seen it, Matt,

- 47:20Speaker 1: who were some of the organizations that were a big
- 47:22Speaker 1: part of making that happen? So you give Nate some
- 47:24Speaker 1: inspiration for his donation.
- 47:26Speaker 5: Oh, Wyoming Bha, I would think, would be widely regarded
- 47:30Speaker 5: as like the whistleblower organization of the case that kicked
- 47:36Speaker 5: off this lawsuit.
- 47:37Speaker 1: So Nate will ask again, where do you want your
- 47:39Speaker 1: five hundred dollars to go?
